Lu Xinyi waited for the right time to talk with her husband. Her tears pricked her eyes as her lithe body pressed against Shen Yi's strong form. There were so many questions in her mind that needed answers from him, but she decided to wait. With the twins bouncing on their feet as if they were on a sugar rush, it would take another two or three hours until they would tire themselves out and get ready for bed. 
"How was your trip?" she asked once she parted with her husband. There was no hint of tears when she faced the twins. 
"Too long." Shen Yi grumbled as Lu Xinyi helped him remove his coat and tap off the snow from his hair and shoulders. 
"Thanks." He kissed her cheek before picking up Shen Yuyan who'd been pulling his arm to get his attention. 
Before marrying Shen Yi, Lu Xinyi would've assumed that he spent more of his time on his office than at home, probably hating the fact that once at home, he'd only bury himself with more paperwork just to forget his loneliness. 
Now that she'd moved back from Lunar Residence and was living with the twins once again, Shen Yi seemed more at ease being at home, almost excited when the office hours were about to come so he could spend more time with his growing family. 
Just remembering Shen Yi's face the other day, when Qiao He set a business trip on his schedule, was enough to make Lu Xinyi laugh. Poor Qiao He got scolded by his boss for just doing his job. That business trip that was supposed to be three days was cut short to a one-day visit instead. Shen Yi reasoned out that he loathed wasting time with more work and deserved to slack off once in a while. 
After hanging up his coat, Lu Xinyi followed her husband and found him with Zhichen on his lap, continuing the lesson where they left off the other day while Little Yuyan's face scrunched up, not understanding what was written in the book Shen Yi was holding. 
Little Yuyan wasn't interested in books without illustrations so when she saw her adoptive mother going to the kitchen, she ran towards her excitedly. 
"Aren't you going to join them?" Lu Xinyi asked as she took out the ingredients she needed for their dinner. 
Little Yuyan slumped herself at the seat next to the kitchen counter as she watched Lu Xinyi wash her hands on the sink. 
"It's boring. I don't know why Zhichen likes to read it with Daddy," she muttered, annoyed that she was somehow kicked out by the boys. 
Lu Xinyi giggled at her daughter's irritation. She really liked Yuyan's bubbly attitude.
"Ah, let them be. Why don't you help Mommy bake a cake instead?" She winked, and—in a low voice—she continued, "If there's an excess batter, you can make your own cupcakes." 
"Really?" Shen Yuyan's round eyes lit up. 
"Yes, now, why don't you wash your hands first; and I'll get you a cute apron?" 
"Yay! Mommy is the best!" Joy bubbled in Shen Yuyan's laugh and shone in her eyes.
The little girl jumped from her seat, her feet pattered on the floor, and she wrapped her chubby arms around Lu Xinyi's leg.

As Lu Xinyi tucked the twins to bed, Shen Yi leaned at the door frame, watching his wife with the twins. He felt a bottomless peace and satisfaction as he looked at them. However, it didn't last long as he remembered how Feng Zexian was threatening to ruin this peace he had with his family.
"Daddy? You will be here in the morning?" Shen Yuyan asked. That day, the twins woke up and didn't find Shen Yi at home; for he left early for his business trip. With the harsh weather outside, they were worried that he wouldn't be able to come home safely. 
"The weather is bad. There would be no work tomorrow," Shen Yi assured her. "Come on, bedtime. I'm sure Mommy has something delicious for you to eat tomorrow morning. If you don't sleep, I'll eat it all by myself," he teased. 
"No! We're going to sleep now!" Little Yuyan buried herself on her thick blanket and stuck out her tongue at Shen Yi. 
Shen Yi shook his head and left his wife to finish some work he took home in his study. An hour later, Lu Xinyi waltzed into his study with a tray in her hands. 
"Are you going to stay working late?" she asked. 
"No, just finishing this paper works so Xue wouldn't have a hard time when he takes over the control of Shen Group." Shen Yi continued his work while his wife sat across him, checking her email. 
There was no need for words to describe how the two mixed. If one had seen the two at the moment, they could tell that they'd worked together a lot. Shen Yi flicked through the pages of the documents in his hand as his wife busied herself. Her scowl then grew even more pronounced. 
"What's up?" said Shen Yi. 
Lu Xinyi turned off her phone and leaned her back against her seat. 
"Oh, it's nothing. Nothing to be bothered about."
Shen Yi wasn't buying it, he knew Lu Xinyi too well. However, saying these things too directly rarely helped. 
"Sure, dear. Say, have you lost weight? You're looking good, you know." Shen Yi grinned back at her. There was a hint of laughter in his voice. 
Lu Xinyi raised her eyes off the floor to meet Shen Yi's. Her mouth twitched like she wanted to smile. 
"Me, losing weight? Wow, that's new." 
"I can think of an awesome workout we can do together. Of course, if you'd rather eat more, you'll need to burn those extra calories. What do you say about a special workout?" he mused mischievously.
"A workout?" Lu Xinyi gave up hiding her smile and grinned in a way that melted Shen Yi's heart every time. "I want to hear more… too bad my body is still aching."
"Ahh, what a bummer." Shen Yi sighed in feigned exasperation. "How's your meeting with your aunt?" He decided not to ignore the topic anymore. He knew his wife was eager to know about his uncle and the accident. 
Lu Xinyi's expression instantly changed. The confession of her aunt had made her suspicions clear: her parents didn't die from the accident. It was all because of Sun Mingai's greed and jealousy. 
"Sun Mingai, I swear as long as I'm breathing, you'll never be happy in this lifetime." Her fists balled on her lap while her eyes started to brim with tears. "But there's something I don't understand… why did my aunt say Sun Mingai blamed my mother for your uncle's death? Is she obsessed with your uncle, or she's just making things up to spite my mom? She also said you were involved in an accident."
Shen Yi's jaws hardened. It seemed it was time for Lu Xinyi to know what happened in the past and why the Shen family distanced themselves from the Sun family. He brought down the papers on his hands and turned his seat to face his wife.
"Your mother… she wasn't the one to blame. Indeed, it was an accident that neither party had expected; and yes, I was with my uncle when the car crash happened twenty-two years ago."

The next day arrived. The sun shines through the broken window as it reaches the bed of the three friends that slept together. Alex's closed eyes felt the light hit him, wincing a bit and turned his body to the side where Sal slept. His head resting on soft, yet lumpy pillows.

"Strange. Did I ever have a pillow that smelled like Sal for some reason?" He thought to himself as he sunk his head further into it, hitting a firm and hard spot, eventually, he felt himself slowly coming to wake up to realize what he is sleeping on are not pillows. "Wait, these aren't pillows… these are-" His eyes shot up, fully awake as he pulled his head back and raised it to see Sal looking back at him.

"Morning Sharky." Sal said with her usual cheery voice.

"Morning… How long have you been awake?..."

"Just woke up, felt something between my tits and woke up, turns out it was just you." She stretched, almost similar to a cat waking up.

"My bad." Alex sat up, stretching out his arms but stopped halfway, "Ngh!" He grunted a bit and forgot about his sore arm, dropping it letting it rest on his lap, forgetting he is still a bit injured.

"It's fine Sharky. Though we haven't even made it to first base yet." She snickered as she got off of the bed and walked to the bathroom.

Alex simply stared at her with a face that simply showed slight annoyance. "Yeah, I don't see you that way." He sees both Lea and Sal as siblings, they aren't a replacement for Lexa, but he treats them like he's the big brother and they're the little sisters.

"You hurt me Sharky, am I not girly enough for your tastes?" She joked, her smile widening while she walked to the bathroom.

"Okay, that's enough." He never gets used to that, how Sal messes him when she feels like it.

"Fiiiiine I'll stop… For now. I'll be borrowing your bathroom." She said before closing the door shut and he can hear running water through the door.

Lea still slept, rolling to the side as she fell off of the bed. "Hya-!" She yelped mid-fall and grunted, rubbing her face as she fell face-first on the hard floor. "Mhhhggh My face…" She groaned while rolling left and right from the pain.

Alex turned and looked at Lea down the bed. He got off to help her stand up. "Does it hurt that bad?"

"Mhm…" She said while rubbing her face. "I had my glasses on too so my nose hurts more…" She whined out while removing one of her hands on her face to accept Alex helping her up."Thanks Alex…"

"No problem." Lea stopped rubbing her face to look at Alex and at his arm.

"Does it still hurt?" She asked him. Obviously concerned now all that adrenaline and excitement have left her system. Meaning what's in her mind is worry for Alex since realizing it, he's the only one that got hurt in the fight against the Megaboar.

"A bit." He admitted. "But not as much as yesterday. That health potion helped me recover."

"If only potions can be instant like in stories and Video games.." Lea commented as she continued, "I should've learned a healing spell, so that atleast I could've been more useful." She could've helped fight the Boar alongside him, but Megafauna are known to be resistant to Magic. She thought of herself as deadweight if she tried to fight it directly.

"Come on now. You were plenty useful. There you go doubting yourself again." Alex patted Lea's head softly as he smiled. "You were helping out by doing something that can hurt the Boar without directly using your magic, you helped Sal save me from getting stomped and she helped me deal the killing blow. It's about doing our part to help each other out. And let me tell ya, you did it pretty well."

She doubts because compared to the two physical fighters in this group of friends. She's as human as they come. She initially was worried she can't catch up from her limited strength, so she compensated with magical strength, so in terms of magical power she's even with Sal. Lea looked up to him and gently removed his hand from her head and smiled. "Thank you, Alex. Next time, don't pet me like that, I may be younger than you and Sal, but don't look down on me like that, okay?"

"S-Sorry." He stuttered. "Didn't mean to talk to you like that."

Lea giggled and patted Alex's back. "I'm kidding. I don't mind how you talk to me, what you said really boosted my confidence. I'm really glad you are my friend. And I'm glad that we can finally go out of this town and see the world." As much as she doesn't believe in her own strength. She is just as impulsive as Alex when it comes to exploring. The whole world of Gaea, ready to be explored by the three of them.

Alex paused and realized she was only joking and sighed. "Oh good! For a second I thought I insulted you or something." He was trying to encourage her, not insult her. He went to the side of the bed to pick up her hat and handed it to her.

Lea shook her head. "Not yet. I was actually thinking of joining Sal in taking a bath with her. I don't have any clothes with me so. Can you hand me some of yours?" She said with a bit of pleasant and gentle smile.

Alex already had one of his pants torn by Sal, but he can't say no to someone like Lea with such a precious smile. "F-...Fine. Only if you don't tear them apart like what Sal did."

"I won't. Thanks Alex!" She hurried into the bathroom, entering to bathe with Sal as the bathroom door slammed shut.

"I should probably go to the other bathroom." He said to himself. He walked to the door, opening it to only have his mother suddenly appear, head rising from the side, looking at her son with a cheerful, bright smile.

"Where do you think you're going young man?" Amanda kept her head's angle while she blocked the door fully, the still angle made her head tilted, giving a menacing and unhinged presence emanating from her, she is failing to hide her anger from her son through a facade of her usual cheerful self.

"M-Mom…!" He felt his heart skipped a beat at her suddenly appearing at the door and immediately felt his heart rate rise from the intimidating presence she is seeping out. "I-I was gonna go use the other bathroom to take a bath because Lea and Sal are using my bathroom."

"Denied." She replied bluntly, immediately frowning as she crossed her arms. "Did you forget what I said yesterday? I said you're grounded for a whole month. You aren't leaving this room"

"B-But…"

"No buts! You're in big trouble for what you did. Stealing a mission? I raised you better than that!"

"But a whole month!? What about you finally letting me go join the guild?!"

"The guild's not going anywhere, You have a broken arm anyway, so you can use that time to rest."

"What did Dad say about this decision?"

"He's grounded too." She bluntly replied. "He's in trouble for fighting your Uncle and completely forgot what he's supposed to do. Now stay put, breakfast is ready soon." She slammed the door shut with the edges of the frame cracking from the harsh slam. At this rate, his own room will be a crumbling mess with how much damage it suffered.

"What happened?" Sal's head poked out of the bathroom, hair lathered in shampoo and water dripping down under her chin.

"Well. I was reminded I am grounded by Mom." Alex said as he looked at Sal.

"Oh yeah… I remember her saying that before she dragged you to help her cook. Well that sucks."

"Yeah…" He wanted to object, argue with her, but in all honesty, he is very much afraid to fight back with his mother when she is this mad. He got back to his bed and dropped face-first on the center, and then turned around to face the ceiling, legs slumped on the edge of the bed.

"Think of it this way Sharky, you're grounded for a month, you're not allowed to leave your room for a month."

"I know what being grounded means Sal." He retorted since he's been grounded many times, but it wasn't as bad as this since his mother lets him stay around the house and not limited to his own room.

"Let me finish. You're not allowed to leave your room, that doesn't mean you can't train in your room."

"Sal! Alex still has a broken arm!" Lea's voice is heard out of the bathroom door. "And get back here! I'm not done washing your hair!"

"Yeah yeah I'm goin, also ignore what Lea said, You can still train with one arm." Her head sunk back into the bathroom as it closed shut.

Alex pondered for a moment. "Training with one arm…" He muttered. He looked down on his sore and injured arm for a good second. He smiled, showing a bit of his teeth and jumped out of his bed. "She's right. I may be grounded but I gotta keep in shape once the next month arrives." He threw his jacket aside along with his white shirt, using his white shirt to lift up his broken arm to let it rest during his workout. He laid on the floor, one arm only supporting him up as he started performing a one armed push-up… Which ended in him dropping after the first push. "Gha!" He groaned out as his failed push up made his chest rest on his broken arm as he rolled to lay on his back. "Tch… One-armed workouts are gonna be hard."

He attempted to do it again, doing it slowly as his arm quivered and struggled to carry himself. His breathing ragged and sharp, counting down slowly with each push-up, as he is lost in concentration, and whenever he makes a mistake like falling, he starts over. He was too busy exercising that he isn't aware of Lea and Sal now fully dressed and out of the bathroom and Sal dropping a bucket of water on him. "Cold!" He exclaimed as he looked up at Sal and slowly stood up. "What the hell was that for?!"

"You were busy working out that you were ignoring everyone, including your Mom who just left you this!" Lea was holding a tray of eggs, bacon, sausage, and toast, most already have a bite with Sal's lips having traces of yolk and bread crumbs on her lips.

"She decided to snap you out of it after she took a bite out of your breakfast…" Lea attempted to stop her but her magic will probably cause the whole room to break and that is excessive to do just stopping a friend in snacking on someone else's food.

"Sorry… Guess that I was worried about being here for a month will make me end up weak and not ready once I'm no longer grounded."

"Nah don't be sorry, you should be sorry that you decided to do it without me guiding you with that broken arm." Sal assured him that he shouldn't be sorry for being worried about getting weak. "Now eat up, unless you want me to feed you this time?" Lea chuckled remembering last night how she force-fed him.

"Oh ha ha." Alex said with sarcasm as he tried to put his shirt back on so that he could finish his bite covered breakfast, using his lap to hold the plate and started eating with just a fork in hand.

"After that, I'll be helping you workout until that arm of yours gets better." Sal smiled at him as she looked at Lea. "You should work out with us too Lea, you can use the exercise to develop more stamina."

"No Thanks… I tried but I don't think I can keep up...I'll practice by reading up new spells that can help you guys out."

"That wasn't a request..." Sal said. Soon enough, while Alex ate, Sal is already making Lea workout by starting with sit-ups, grabbing her legs as she whined and complained. "C'mon! You just started and you're already exhausted! I want you to do fifty sit-ups in two minutes!"

"Two minutes!? Sal that's insane!" She gasped out as she managed to do a sit-up as she sunk back on the ground a bit too fast.

"One minute! Don't just drop your body after a sit-up! Slowly descend when you sit up, I'm not gonna let you count that one!"

"I-I'm not meant for this kind of training! Alex! Tell Sal to stop this!" She continued to whine while Alex watched their work out session without as much as concern from Him as he munched on his bitten toast. He gave Lea a thumbs up while he held the toast. "Alex!?"

He swallowed as he brightly smiled at them. "Keep up the good work you two." His lack of concern comes from him encouraging Sal to help Lea out. It's good to have friends who want to keep you company while you're grounded.

"You heard Sharky, Let's reach sixty sit-ups in one minute!"

"What happened to fifty!?"

"Seventy!"

"Fine! I'll stop complaining just put it back to fifty please!" She can feel her heart rate rise, her body nearing its limit despite only doing what seemed like 15 sit-ups.

"After fifty sit-ups it's onto push-ups! Sharky! You better catch up once you're done eating!"

"Sure!" Alex said nonchalantly as he is glad he won't be training on his own.

My name's Farfaloo, and I'm a pretty unicorn!  I'm frollicking in a meadow!  It's awesome!  I love this meadow!  Meadows rule!  There's butterflies!  And a stream!  Fucking A!  I hop around, all four feet jumping at once!  I get mad air!

I come across a big bull.  He's frollicking too, but it's more of a lazy, rolling around affair.  

"Sup bull!  Nice horns!"

"Thanks.  Right back at ya."

We frolic in the general vicinity of each other for a while.

"Hey bull!  Wanna have a race!"

"Not really.  I like rolling."

"Aww, come on!"

"Okay.  But if I win, I get to fuck you."   

"Deal!  But if I win, we get to race again!"

I fucking love racing!

I tear off, bouncing all over the place.  Big Bull fumbles to his feet and lumbers after me.  At first, I'm just poking around, trying not to lose him.  But as he warms up, he gets really fast.  Goody!

I kick it up a few notches.  He keeps the pace.  I lean in, really open up.  He closes the gap.  I feel great, happy as fuck, I love this.  I don't know if I want to win or fuck.  Ha!  I can do both!

I look behind me, to admire his form.  He looks furious.  He has a monstrous erection.  Monstrous like, it could destroy a city.  Well, that sucks.  I think I want to win now.

I take a funny bounce that shoots me sideways into the woods.  I slalom around the trees at top speed.  My bounciness makes me peerless at direction changes.  But I'm actually losing ground.  What he lacks in agility, he makes up for with a big fucking head that can bash through trees.

I'm going to lose this race.  Normally I'd be fine with that - I fucking love racing!  But today that makes me sad.  I don't like the big bull anymore.  I don't like how he knocks down trees.  I don't like his angry face.  I don't like his huge angry dick.

Okay, fuck this.  On my next bounce, I spin and shoot back at him.  My horn slams into his chest with a bang.  It gets caught on something.  His spine perhaps?  I shake my head until it comes loose, cutting him in half in the process.  Blood and gooey mess fly everywhere.  Then I stomp on the bits for a while.  He's mostly ankle stain now.  I stab the biggest remaining chunk - his head?  With a flick of my neck, I fire it deep into the woods.

Problem solved.

I relax, and sink down into a bed of flowers.  I sink in deep.  Impossibly deep.  10 feet.  20 feet.  Miles.  Forever.  It's very relaxing.  I sink deeper and deeper, until I finally reach Candy's bed.  I love Candy's bed.  What the fuck?  I'm not a unicorn!  Oh fuck, she hypnotized me!

"Did I agree to this?" I ask.

"Yes." says Candy.

"Why?" I ask.  

"How do you feel?" asks Candy.

I sit up.  I'm sweaty and shaky.  I don't feel bad though, more like I've been worked hard.  It starts coming back to me.

"Holy shit.  Was that a workout program?"

"Yeah!  I know how much you hate exercise, so I came up with a hypno-assisted workout!" says Candy.  "You were supposed to enjoy a exhilarating fantasy, while your body works through a set of isometric exercises.  How was it?" 

"Uh, I was a stunned unicorn…"

"Yeah, I thought you should stay true to yourself."

"Thanks.  Did you add a weird sex component?"

"Yeah, I thought you should stay true to yourself."

"Ha.  Well, it was a little too freaky.  Ran off the rails."

"Oh no.  I'm sorry.  Did you not like your partner?"

"Partner?  That was a real guy?  Oopsie." I say.

"Why?  Did you let him down hard?" asks Candy.

"Yes I did."

I give her the lowdown on his brutal slaying.

"Oh my.  Excuse me, I have to make a phone call." says Candy

She talks on the phone for a bit, then turns back to me.

"Well, he had a great workout.  He pooped himself, and will never fuck or sleep again, but he'll have great definition." says Candy

"Oops."

"Yeah."

"I think you misjudged how scary massive bull cock is." I say. 

"I gave you a horse sized vagina." says Candy.

"Oooo… I hadn't thought of that.  In that case, I'm ready to go again." I say.

"Yeah, I'm running low on expendable minions.  Let's get drunk." Candy says.

"Okay.  Sorry." I say.

We pop a few brews, and get frisky.  Candy heads to the shower.  I turn on Mr. President while I wait for her.

Mr. President is meeting with economic advisors.  The advisors have diverse and contradictory plans to stimulate job growth.  Mr. President cuts them short with a blast of reality.

"Job growth?  What fucking jobs?  Business will take whatever tax breaks we give them and buy robots.  The only thing we need humans for is science.  And blow jobs.  Science, sex and rent.  That's the gonna be the whole economy in a few years.  Wrap your heads around that, and come back with a plan that gets me re-elected." says Mr. President.

A damp naked Candy flops down next to me.

"Super science and dirty sex?  Well, dang.  The future sounds alright." says Candy.

I turn off the TV.  We chat and eat, then head down to the club.  Brian has a new batch of MicroBrew.  He starts with a light beer, then he adds pot and caffeine, then trace amounts of various life-extending pharmaceuticals and psychedelics.  This batch was called Friday's.  It was a heady brew.  We drain a few, and get goofy.  And slightly immortal.

We debate how we will spend our new found immortality.  I want to tour the universe, but Candy likes the convenience of Earth.

"All my stuff is here.  Also, I evolved here.  It's pretty nice.  Also, I hate commuting." she says.

"Those are all solid points." I say.  "I guess I'll have to bring Earth with me when I go."

"And the sun and the moon?" she asks.

Slade: I can't answer such a big life question, kid.

Kai: Why not?

Slade: Because what are you going to do when you're older. Your gonna say "Wow, that's a hard question. I better go ask Slade." 

Kai: Seems good to me!

Slade: No, kid. You have ta answer my question ya self.

Kai: Do I though?

Slade: Do you?

Kai sighs.

Kai: Yes.

Slade: There you go.

Then they play chess again, and Kai loses. Kai and Slade go to bed, and then Kai wakes up again. Kai goes to school. Then in the gym They were playing dodgeball. Kai throws a ball, and it gets someone out.

Kai: I'm the champ!

Kai sees a girl whip a ball as hard as she can. The ball hits someone in the head, and knocks that person over over. Then Kai pulls some random dude aside.

Kai: Who the hell is that?

???: I think her name is Natalie Stewart. She is a really good baseball pitcher. That's what I have heard at least.

Kai: what's your name again?

???: My names Cal.

The guy goes back to playing.

Kai: I want to get her out.

Kai keeps playing. Natalie is the only good player on her team, and she still starts destroying Kai's team. Then after many attempts Kai gets her out.

Kai: Yeah, you're out!

Natalie: You got lucky!

Kai just laughs at her.

No one on Natalie's team could get her back in before they were all taken out. 

Kai: Easy.

As Natalie walks back to her court.

Natalie: It was only easy because I wasn't in.

Kai: Well than stay in the game.

Natalie gets angry.

Natalie: I'm targeting you next time!

Kai: Bring it, gym class hero!

Teacher: Alright everyone go get changed.

After Kai gets changed he grabs his bag, and the kid that told him about Natalie brings him aside.

Random classmate: Why would you do that?

Kai: It's just gym.

Random classmate: Did you see how hard she throws the balls? She isn't even using her full strength. Last year the gym teachers had to make her throw softer because people kept having to go to the nurse.

Kai: If I can't take a ball then there's a problem. I'm not a wuss. I think I can handle dodge ball.

Random classmate: Your funeral.

They both leave, and Kai goes home at the end of the day. Slade starts making him train. He trains hard, harder than he has had to any other day. He almost threw up during the workout.

Kai: Why are we training so hard?

Slade: I am not training you to be at half of your strength. From now on training is going to get increasingly hard. Not much harder though. Since you almost collapsed during this workout, it will be constantly increasing in difficulty.

Kai: oh no.

Slade: Yup. Anyway it's dinner time.

Kai: *heavy breathing* thank god!

They eat dinner which is ham steak and some sides.

Slade: have you answered my question yet.

Kai: I like to rap.

Slade: Wrong.

Kai: What?! It's not focusing on training, or what I actually like? Then what the fuck is it?!

Slade: Language! You know what. We are going to work on schooling too. You need to be able to talk like a distinguished gentlemen, and you should know a few languages too. Anyway, do you want a hint on the question?

Kai: Yes!

Slade: Stop thinking of the answer as an action. It is an action, but it's something that you would consider just part of life.

Kai: That's a terrible hint. WHAT DOES THAT EVEN MEAN?! 

Slade: figure it out. Now go take a shower, and then we'll play chess.

Kai takes a show then they play chess. Kai loses the chess game as always. Then they go to bed. Kai goes to school the next day sore from training. Then his last class of the day was gym.

Natalie: You and me, Kai.

Kai: Yup, I'm at full strength just for this fight.

Natalie: What? 

Kai: Nothing, nothing, I'll just see you in the game.

Natalie: Alright, *whispers* weirdo.

They go get changed, and the gym teacher picks the teams. The teacher puts both Natalie and Kai on the same team.

Natalie: Mr.k please. Put me on the other team. I really don't want to be on a team with him. Plus the teams are so unfair now.

Mr.K: Yeah, that's the point.

Natalie: Huh?

Mr.K: There's a new hot teacher, and if I put you two on different teams I'll have to watch carefully to see who gets out. If you are both on the same team then there is no possible way either of you could get out. So I'll be leaving.

Natalie: BUT YOU HAVE TO WATCH US!

Mr.K: Watch yourself!

He leaves.

Natalie: Grrr.

She kicks up the ground.

Natalie: I guess we're on the same team!

Kai: Couldn't you just switch teams now that he's gone?

Natalie: No. Without him, I'm just gonna cheat. Plus I don't feel like winning like that.

Kai: Good because I'm sore.

Natalie: And you were just gonna try and beat me in dodgeball?

Kai: I feel like your taking dodgeball as life and death.

Natalie: It basically is.

Kai: Eh, a little different.

They play dodgeball together, and obviously win every game pretty quick. After they get changed they walk to the next class together.

Natalie: I thought you were gonna be my competition, but you're alright. See ya around, Kai.

Kai: See ya!

Kai goes home for some more hardcore training.

Kai: This is getting a little heavy.

Slade: Well then use more effort. So, did you figure out the answer to my question?

Kai: No, how the hell do you expect me to answer you're great philosophical questions?

Slade: I don't know kid? You could always, you know. Figure out the answers.

Kai: I hate you.

Slade: All you have to do is answer 1 question.

Kai: Yeah, and it's probably gonna be something stupid like "make friends to solve all your problems."

Slade: That's the answer.

Kai: THAT'S NOT A- I hate you.

Slade: A hobby you should get into is making friends. You will never be good at everything. Which means that you will need friends to help you. Especially in the superhero world. What if you need a magic problem to be solved? You're going to need friends, but not only that. Another part of making friends is something that was told to me by my master "the best way to defeat your enemy is to make them your friend." 

Kai: Sounds wise, but he's probably dead so not that wise.

Slade: Hey, you respect your elders! If you really want to know. He was dead before he started training me.

Kai: Wait a minute, your logic is backwards.

Slade: Kai, do you believe in magic?

Kai: No.

Slade: Oh boy. Kai, magic exists, superpowers exist, heaven and hell exist, gods exist. How do you not believe in this kinda stuff?

Kai: I have never seen any proof.

Slade: Oh, I am going to show you some proof. Tomorrow when you come home. I will show you how to use superpowers, but only if you find me, deal?

Kai: Hell yeah that's a deal!

This is a story of a kid who started as the son of drug dealers. That didn't last to long with his parents deaths happening early in his life. Kai goes through life dealing with death, and learning from those deaths. Life is a cold place, and Kai is trying to survive through it. Even if it means becoming a superhero. (Story gets a new chapter every Friday)

P.s I don't use only original characters. I use characters from marvel (Daredevil/stick) and dc(Oliver, Laurel, Slade). I also use some anime characters. All these character may be different from their original versions because we are in this new universe (my universe aka the new 62), and not the regular continuity.

When Reuben Ming entered his apartment building, it was already 2:00 in the night (well technically morning) after he had completed his overtime work.

He had sent his driver and Asst Kim away on time and spent his extra hours working alone on a new project that had caught his interest.


This apartment that he had bought was in a high rise luxury apartment building that he had invested in when he became the President of Ming Enterprises. 

As travelling from his ancestral house to the office took him at least 45 minutes journey, buying this new place made sense to him.

The night time security guard who sat at the lobby of the building saluted at him when he saw Reuben walking in.

Everyone knew that Reuben had a love for real estate and owned several high end places across the country. After all the Ming Enterprise was one of the largest real estate companies in the country.


He intentionally hid the fact that this building was also one of his properties to keep his mother far away from the place. 


'I had to threaten Asst Kim not to expose my apartment's location to my mother, only then did I agree on giving him my address.' He walked into the elevator and hit the *P* button.

It required a special key card to activate the elevator to reach his penthouse and in a few seconds he reached his floor.



The elevator directly opened up in his living room. The house was bright with the city lights coming in through the floor to ceiling windows.


The other floors had two apartments each, but his penthouse had the entire floor to himself. He even had access to the rooftop from his penthouse which is completely restricted to the other people living here.


This apartment was minimalistic and neat, he had decorated the place according to his choices without worrying about his mother's judgy eyes. 


There were no unnecessary decorative pieces because it was a waste of money and space as no one would ever enter his apartment, other than himself and a few of his employees like the maid and Asst Kim. 


Throwing his suit jacket on the couch, he shook off his shoes and rested them on the coffee table in front of him. He let out a huge sigh and sank his exhausted body into the soft couch.

*Brrrr…*

But his rest was short lived because his phone vibrated and he picked it up in case it was an emergency.


'Mom? Why did she message me this late in the night? Is everything okay with dad and grandpa?' Hurriedly opening the text he received, he felt like smashing his phone.

His mother had thought that sending him pictures of girls at this godforsaken hour was a good idea.

'Arghhh!!! I need to talk to Wade and convince him to get those jewelry for me or else she is going to keep this up forever!' Pulling his thick black hair, Reuben groaned.


*I am trying my best Mother, let me sleep for now!* 
He replied to her text and after deleting the nth picture of unknown socialites, he tossed his phone aside.

'Just because Olive got pregnant with that jackass Kim, mother is pestering me to find a girl. I'm still too young for this!' Thought the 28 year old virgin.

He got up and poured himself his usual glass of cognac and sipped it lightly while walking to his bedroom.

His bedroom was as massive as can be. There was a huge king size bed with grey satin fitted sheets and a super soft mattress. There was also a balcony that had a lounge chair and a tiny table beside it. 


The wall above his bed had pictures of all the major events and achievements in his life.

He looked over all the pictures and reminisced about them.


His father holding him on the day he was born, his first steps, him playing with two other kids, the first laptop he received for his birthday, his two best friends since kindergarten, at the airport hugging his mother on the day he left the country for his heir training and the day he came back after so many years all grown up.

Then he moved to the adjacent wall that continued with his memories.

The day he went to surprise his friends after his return. This picture was unlike the rest where he was smiling, this one had his brows furrowed deep and he was glaring at his mother who was standing behind the camera.

He remembered coming home and telling his mother what had happened to him when he went over to his friend's house and her response was to bring out her camera and click his picture.


'This is also a big milestone in your life.' She said while laughing her butt off.

Shaking the bad memories out of his head, he moved onto the next pictures.


The letter of admission for his university, graduation day with his best friends, him and a cute little nerdy girl.

'I can't believe how they pushed me towards her, a moment before the picture was clicked.' He complained every time he saw it, yet he never took that picture off his wall.


His first day at Ming Enterprise as an intern, every single one of his joint ventures and projects with his friends, the day he took over his dad's position as President and an article from a newspaper. He smiled at it and turned away.

The last picture was taken a couple years ago and there were no further significant moments in his life after those.


'Is it just me? or the fact that my last memorable moment in life was so long ago is just so pathetic?' He wondered and looked at the phone that he had kept to charge on the dock.

'Should I take mom's advice and meet one of those girls?' Scratching his head, he pondered over his dilemma.

"When in a puddle, sit in a puddle." Laughing at that horrible pun, he walked into his bathroom to say hello to his beloved.

"Hi baby, you miss me?" He said while running his hands all over the curves of his jacuzzi. He switched it on and moved to stand in front of the mirrored wall to take off his clothes.

The large mirror reflected his body as he slowly took off each piece of clothing.

First the tie came off, then undoing his  diamond cufflinks he placed them on the counter and then took off his shirt. 

The chiseled and perfectly defined abs that could make any young woman's or man's nose bleed were soon visible. 

The huge V on his hips made it look like an arrow which pointed to the prize that was hidden underneath his pants.

He took off the leather belt and unbuttoned his trousers, letting them slide down he took them off completely. He stood there looking at himself in his high cut boxer briefs. 

After removing the final cloth covering his body, he looked at himself in the mirror.

'The result of those high intensity workouts sure are showing themselves.' After admiring the body that he worked hard for, he stepped into the tub.

'I can't think of anything that could give me as much joy as soaking in my tub after a long and tiring day at work.' Placing a towel behind him, he rested his neck and closed his eyes.

After his relaxing bubble bath, Reuben put on a bathrobe and got on his bed.

'Now that my mind is clear, how the hell could I even think of accepting mom's idea of meeting girls?' He hit his forehead for even thinking of doing such a stupid thing. 

"Don't forget Reuben, all those socialites only want one thing and that is prestige. They don't care about who they marry as long as it's someone from a noble family." He chided himself.

"And do I need a bimbo to boss me around? No way in hell!" He shook that mental image from his head and laid on his bed.

After checking if his alarm was set at 6:00, he went to bed.

*Beep Beep*

Stretching his body and sitting up on the bed, Reuben faced the rising sun and smiled.

"What pleasant weather it is!" He went to the bathroom and quickly washed up and changed into his workout clothes.

He had set up a home gym and used it everyday to maintain those sexy muscles of his.

Working up quite a sweat after his cardio workout, he wiped himself off with a towelette and moved to the pool next door. He had an indoor pool that faced the sun in the morning. 

Swimming right after his workout helped him reduce his muscle inflammation and fatigue.

After 10 laps in his pool, he climbed out of the pool. The beads of water dripping off his body and rolling down was a sight to behold. 

He stood in front of the window and wiped his wet and glistening body. Wrapping a towel around his waist, he walked to the kitchen to prepare his breakfast.

Since he usually ate out for his lunch and dinner, he always tried to eat a healthy breakfast at home.

While cooking his oatmeal he chopped up strawberries and bananas. He garnished his healthy oats with berries and bananas and sat down to eat it while watching the morning news.

By the time he got ready for work, it was already 8:45 but it was fine since he just needed five minutes to reach his office.

Hearing the doorbell ringing, he walked to the door next to the elevator and opened it.

"Good morning boss!" Mathew Kim said while panting to catch his breath.

If someone wanted to come up to his floor without the keycard, they would have to reach the floor below him using the elevator and then climb up the stairs to reach him.

"Asst Kim, instead of your pancakes and sandwiches, try eating oatmeal for breakfast for a change. Look at that paunch." Reuben sneered at him.

'Baby told me that I am not fat! This Emperor must be blind!' He touched his tummy and pouted looking at it. 

Sucking his stomach in, Mathew smiled at his boss.

"I'm fine boss, let's get to work." He picked up his boss' laptop and pressed the elevator.

"Hmm. Let's go." They rode the elevator in silence and boarded the car that was waiting for them at the entrance.

While the car was moving away, Mathew Kim looked at the name on the entrance of the building.

*RESTRINDIGO*

'Only boss can think of such an unusual name for a building.' He chuckled and shook his head when the other two men looked at him.

If Reuben knew that Mathew was mocking his naming skills, he would have kicked Mathew out of the car and made him jog to the office.

Lina Yang had everything that you could want.

Talent - Hell Yes

Then what was her problem? 

Simple. 

She had read way too many novels in her teens causing her brain to function differently.

Always at a conflict with her fantasy world and the reality around her. 

She wants to see the drama around her but hates to be the center of attention. 

She wants to be Kabedon-ed to the wall and fiercely kissed by an evil, possessive CEO type of guy. But at the same time she thinks of all the sweet innocent MCs whose hearts were broken by the same type. 


She just wanted fluff with a side of excitement while excluding the angst and heartbreak. Is that too much to ask for? 


Will Lina Yang be able to cope with the storm of new changes happening in her life? Will she find love which she always imagined or will she be left heartbroken? 

Only time will tell.

"Do you have a grudge against Andy?" I asked Noah later that night. After all the picture taking and farewells, we went out to dinner as a family and celebrated some more. Now we were showered and prepared for bed. I couldn't help but remember the way Noah swindled the kid into joining our workout tomorrow morning. 
"Heck yea, I do." Noah told me, putting his hands on his hips, standing by his desk. "That boy cost me a bat!"

I laughed. "You can't call him boy...he's only a year younger." Noah was picking up on his Grampa's habits after half a day. "And he didn't cost you a bat...you did that on your own. I even told you I didn't want to bet with you." I tucked myself under the comforter. 
Noah turned out the lights and got into his own bed. "Semantics. And just because Zeke's training is tough, doesn't mean it isn't beneficial. I'm doing this for his own good."

I snorted. 
"I'm serious, Jake. I can tell that he has some skill. Maybe with Zeke's help, we can help him make varsity as a freshman too. That'll show those jerks."

Knowing that 'those jerks' were the kids in our own grade, I couldn't help but feel sorry for Noah. His friends are now enemies. He probably wants to pay them back for excluding him and me from tryouts. What better way to do that than have someone younger than them do better in tryouts. 
"You might scare him away tomorrow." I warned him.  
"Then he isn't as serious about baseball as we thought." Noah replied. 
"Guess we'll find out tomorrow." I yawned and turned over to get more comfortable. 
"Hey...Jake?" Noah spoke up just as I was about to fall asleep. 
"Hmm?"

"Are you really okay with calling my parents, 'Mom' and 'Dad'?"

"Yea..." I thought about what he was asking. "I'm okay. I'm in a better place. Your mom and dad are great."

"Our mom and dad." He corrected. 
I smiled in the dark. "Yea. Our mom and dad."

"I wonder where they're at in the adoption process?" He mumbled. "Not like we need a paper to say you're one of us, but Kyle's talk about your uncle has me worried."

"I'm not worried." I told him. 
"Really?" He asked. 
"What right does he have to take me away? He had his chance."

"Right! Right!" Noah got excited. "So true. I'd like to see him try."

Ha...I rather he didn't try. 
We both fell asleep, tired from the day. 
"Hey, you guys told me to be here at 6am, but you're still sleeping." 

"Huh??" I heard Noah mutter. 
I turned away from the noise, unwilling to leave dreamland. 
"Looks like you guys forgot to mention you invited Andy and Julian over." Zeke's voice jolted me out of sleep for good. 
I looked over and saw him standing with a fully dressed Andy. Julian stood behind them in the hallway, looking half asleep. 
"What's happening..?" Noah mumbled. He rubbed his eyes. "What are you guys doing here so early? Didn't I say 6am..?"

"It's 6:10am." Andy got closer to Noah. "Come on, get up."

"Whattt." Noah was bewildered. He looked to Zeke. "You let us sleep in..?"

Zeke smirked. "I was going to let you all sleep in today, but I was surprised to find some familiar faces before I hit the road. So I thought I can't let you guys miss out."

I groaned. The injustice. 
"We leave in ten. Get moving!" Zeke told us, leaving the room with the Wilson brothers. 
Noah and I got moving, finding some workout clothes and put on our shoes. Downstairs Zeke, Julian and Andy were all waiting. So were the twins. The pair glared at us as we joined them. 
Dave was the first to pull Noah in a headlock. "It's all your fault. We could have been sleeping in today!"

"How was I to know?" Noah struggled. 
"Let him go." Zeke commanded. 
Dave complied, dropping Noah. 
Zeke looked to Julian and Andy. "We usually run for a good two miles. Don't worry about keeping up. We all go at our own pace."

"If we get to choose our own pace, doesn't that mean we can just slack off?" Andy asked.

Zeke stared him down. "If you slack off, you're only hurting yourself. You have to hold yourself accountable."

Andy straightened up. "Yes!"

"Let's go." Zeke led the way. 
Once outside the house and the front door closed, we jogged together as a group. The twins stayed on either side of me, trying to keep their breath even. Zeke and Noah led the pack with Julian and Andy right behind them. 
Andy made a move to go around Noah and Zeke, but he did it right before the hill so the move was useless. Zeke and Noah picked up the pace, leaving us behind. Andy was surprised, but hurried to catch up. Julian also picked up his pace, but didn't go as fast as the other three. 
The twins decided to leave me behind and catch up with Julian, trying to stay with him. It didn't last long. At the top of the hill Julian left them behind. Our group was now scattered throughout the streets, and I soon lost sight of everybody. 
I was the last one to arrive at the house, finding everybody spread in the driveway, doing different exercises or lifting weights. 
Andy glanced at me and gave me a head nod. 
I started to feel embarrassed. Andy beat me and he's younger than me. 
"Pushups, sit-ups, and jump rope before you start lifting." Zeke instructed. 
I moved over to Noah since he seemed to be doing the same set of exercises. He smiled at me as he finished with the jump rope. "Here. You can have it."

There was no longer any time to feel bad about my fitness compared to others when doing a workout. Zeke was always quick to point me to the next station or give me a new ab exercise, keeping my mind solely focused on surviving. When he finally called it quits, I collapsed beside Noah, exhausted. 
"Are you boys done out there?" Mom came out on the front porch. "Breakfast is ready. I made enough for Julian and his brother too!"

"We'll be right in, Mom!" Noah pushed himself up, finding new energy in her words. He grabbed my arm and pulled me to my feet. "Let's go!"

The twins moved way faster, bolting for the door. 
"You guys might want to hurry before the twins eat all the good stuff." Noah told Julian and Andy. They followed us, leaving Zeke alone to finish pushing everything back in the garage. 
"What about Zeke?" Julian asked. 
"What about him?" Noah shrugged. "It's not like anyone dares to steal his share."

Breakfast was like a buffet feast. Mom directed us to grab a plate, fill it, then eat outside since there wasn't enough seats with all the guests. Julian and Andy were polite at first, only taking one serving of eggs, bacon and a bagel. But once they saw us pile our plates and go for seconds, they soon caught on that there was enough for everyone.

"Hey, do you want to go to the park after this?" Noah asked Andy. 
Andy blinked. "Can we?"

"Why not? It's not like we have school or anything. Do you need to ask your parents?"

"No. They're at work." He turned to Julian. "Can we play at the park?"

Julian smiled. "Sure. I think our baseball bags are still in the car so maybe we can play a mini-game of sorts."

"I'm in!" Noah grinned. He turned to the twins. "Want to play 'over the line' at the park?"

Dave looked at him in disbelief. "You want to exercise even more..?"

"I'm in!" Kyle said. 
Dave turned to look at him. "Really?"

Kyle smirked. "You afraid?"

Dave rolled his eyes. "Not even a little bit. I'm in too."

"I call Zeke!" Kyle yelled. 
"Then I get Jake!" Dave shot back. 
"I call Julian!" Kyle continued. 
"Well then I should get both Noah and Andy." Dave claimed. 
"What?? That's not fair." Kyle argued. "Why do you get the extra player?"

"Because you picked first. Plus, are you scared that me and the kids will beat you and your college bound team?" Dave wiggled his eyebrows. 
Kyle narrowed his eyes. "Fine. It's on!"

I had no clue what they were talking about, but from the look of the Wilson brothers, neither did they. 


Jake has it rough: a missing dad, an abusive mother and a hidden talent for baseball which sends his mother off the deep end. Sent to live with a foster family, his love for baseball is revived, and with their help, will Jake start to shine like the future superstar he is?
