Three girls have found themselves trapped in a bathroom with no exit. With only speculation to make sense of their situation, their sanities reach an all-time low.

A. What's the purpose of this chapter?
First, this happens:
Reader 1: Aww man. The periodic info dumps should be removed. I don't need to know the background logic of codes, or the MC's line of thought.

Then, this happens:
Reader 2: What is going on! Nothing is explained in this story! You need to provide more background information!

B. Logging Out
The 3 soft logouts:
1. Logout through the player menu
2. Through the notification that pops up every hour in-game 
This is to give players a heads up on how much time has passed. Players can choose to turn this feature off.
3. First contact at food, water, bed, or bathroom
This hints players that they might need these in reality as well. Players can choose to turn this feature off.

The 2 hard logouts:
1. 4 hours of consecutive in-game time
You were given a 30 minutes countdown! You had your heads up!
Go stretch for a moment. Eat something. Drink something. Use the washroom. It doesn't take much time!
2. When a player's body reaches a threshold
Whether it's dehydration, hunger, sleepiness, or the need to use the bathroom
The Hidden Logout Mechanism: 
If a player crashes the game somehow, then that player is logged out immediately. Similar to what happens to cheaters in PUBG. They get booted and banned. 

C. Enhancement
Enhancement in the game <World of Gemcraft> is like injecting water into a water balloon. 
The enhancement is the water, fixated at certain amounts at each enhancement level and type.
The item is like the water balloon. 
Higher tier items are bigger balloons, able to contain more water. 
If the water balloon is able to hold the water in the end, then the enhancement is a success.
If not, then the water balloon bursts, and the item breaks.
The blacksmith is the guy handling the water and the water balloon. 
In John's situation, enhancing a free grey shirt, made of the cheapest material, should be like injecting a tiny little water balloon with 500 mL of water.
It didn't generate an error during the first enhancement. Fine. Maybe with a lot of skill and luck, under special conditions, using special items, it's possible.
But how do you explain a small water balloon holding 2 liters of water?
This is not skills. This is an error! This should never happen.
So the following will run according to the logic of the gaming system:
Player GodMode233 has equipped a new grey shirt.
How should this enhanced grey shirt interact with the environment?
Calculating. This item exceeds the boundaries set for this item. Parameters are now in conflict.
It's like saying x is bigger than five in one statement.
But another statement over there says x is smaller than one at the same time. 
And x must exist. So the program does not know what the result is. 
But we need defined results!
So errors are generated. Conclusion: this is a flawed item that should not exist.
But the item exists! 
So how should this enhanced grey shirt interact with the environment? 
Calculating. No idea. It should not exist. 
But it does exist. But it should not exist. But it really exists!
And so, the system loops again and again until the run time hits a threshold. 
In the end, John gets booted out of the game. A report is sent. John gets perma-banned. Happily ever after. 

D. Attributes and Stats
Intelligence, Charisma, and Willpower got removed after the game broke.
1. Agility (accuracy of body control, balance, quicker body reaction to thoughts, movement speed, stamina efficiency)
For example, there is a baseball hurling towards a player.
The player with low agility:
Eyes: I see it!
Brain: hand, you got this!
Hand: I'm on it!
Face: Ah! My face! Guys... I caught it...
The player with high agility:
Eyes: I see its trajectory. 
Brain: Easy one. Hand, you got this!
Hand: No probl-
Head: Sorry guys. I flinched and dodged it. 
It is very unlikely for players with high agility to accidentally stab their nose with a straw.
2. Strength (damage multiplier, speed limit, the ability to carry weight (ex. heavy armor)
So if players do accidentally stab their nose with a straw, players with higher strength take more damage
3. Constitution (damage reduction, health total, regeneration, stamina total, tenacity, strength limit)
After players accidentally stab their nose with a straw, players with higher constitution take less damage and regenerate faster

E. Identity
Usually, when players buy an identity, they get an exclusive background story about the character in detail.
In game, the system helps the players identify characters they should know. Also, information about the relationship this NPC and the player, and the NPC's background information are given.
In John's case, he gets none of this help. 
There are 2 possible causes.
1. After the game reset, some items are removed, and players who own those items get a refund. 
John lost his developer drone. The drone had NULL for value. So the system got confused and had no idea how much of what to give to John. Basically a NULL Pointer error. 
What's the NULL Pointer error?
It's basically insisting on ordering a big mac at White Spot. Things can turn real messy.
2. The conversion of the developer character model to the normal player model. 
Shouldn't be possible. But it happened. 

F. So these are the background information in the early chapters. 
I won't add any background information regarding later chapters. Some readers like spoilers, some don't. 
So any background information chapter will look like (Mechanism: Bala Bala)
But then again, if you don't care about the background mechanisms, you wouldn't read up to here. 
And those who actually don't care... they can figure it out later, right?

Monday
Anna awoke in the hospital bed wrapped in Hou YI's arms, as she attempted to ease herself to head to the bathroom, she woke Hou Yi up.
He leant over and gave Anna a kiss on the lips but before she let it get too passionate, she pulled back and quietly said "Darling, remember where we are. Plus I need to use the bathroom."
Hou Yi, allowed Anna to move out of his arms and head to the bathroom. As Anna was entering the bathroom there was a knock on the door, and in came one of the nursing staff, followed by a bodyguard who was bringing in bags and newspapers. Indicating his wife was in the bathroom the nurse, he turned to the bodyguard, taking the bags and the newspapers. He sat the bags down and headed to the couch and sat the newspapers out on the table.
The front-page headlines were telling, even at first glance. However, before he could start reading, he heard noise behind him, and the nurse had settled Anna back on the bed, and was taking her observations.
Once the nurse finished, she quietly said "Madam Hou, that is starting to look better. Your obstetrician will be in just before 9am, so we will arrange for breakfast to be brought in for the two of you."
Hou Yi sat on the bed with his wife, gently taking her in his arms, before she spoke "Thank you."
Once the nurse left, Hou Yi quietly asked "How do you feel. Tell me the truth please, as you scared me yesterday."
"Yi so much better than yesterday. I still feel tired but having that video-conference with Phillipa last night has made things easier." With that Anna twisted and gave Hou Yi a brief kiss.
"Promise me that you are not going to let things get to you like they did. You heard Pip, if you cannot contact the counsellor that she arranged, call her and speak to her."
"Yi, I did not want to …"
In a firm but not harsh voice "Sweetheart, as she told you, you will have setbacks. You know that is reality as well from your work. Most importantly you know I am here; I love you and will do anything to help you. But I am not a mind reader. I can observe things, but I cannot always tell when you need help."
"I know Yi…"
There was a knock on the door and breakfast was brought in and sat down at the table near the couch.
As they moved over to eat breakfast, Anna located the television remote, and turned it on before searching for a news channel. The lead story for her was not surprising, the excesses of Lu Jingho. While factual, they soon moved into a panel discussion about the story.
Hou Yi was watching Anna carefully, seeing how she reacted. As Hou YI had paused eating Anna turned to him, before saying "Yi, calm down I am OK. I just want to see what they have to say, and I am going to read the papers after that."
Anna turned her attention back to the television and started listening to the panel discussion about the allegations against Lu Jingho. Anna was engrossed in what they were saying, which was universally condemning him, but at the same time the journalists were careful to phrase their comments on the basis of "if the allegations can be proven".
Anna found it highly interesting as a means of seeing the difference between the legal system here and in Australia. Criminals were afforded more protection by the law, but at the same time, the whole basis for the legal system was different.
Hou Yi rather than solely focusing on the television, started reading the newspapers. The stories under the headlines matched the articles. Like the debate on the television he could see that the written press were as condemning of Lu JIngho as they were. Hou Yi in considering everything realised that he had no idea of the extent of Lu Jingho's behaviour. Blackmailing his son, abusing children, threatening his ex-wife, misusing company resources, trying to blackmail him, harassing Anna. What else was to come out? Hopefully he will agree to plead to the charges to save people having to give evidence.
One comment made in the television debate made Hou Yi stop. "The only thing that might save him and the Lu Corporation will depend on how many of the alleged victims can be compensated for the acts against them, and the charges not pursued?"


Anna Jones, an Australian travelled with her fiancé Lu Jinhu to marry in his home country, only to find out that she has been duped by him and robbed of everything that she owns.  A quirk of fate allows her to marry CEO Hou Yi, who was meant to on the same day marry his finance Yang Lin, who in fact married Lu Jinhu.  Marriage for Anna, started as a plan to gain some measure of revenge on Lu Jinhu, and for Hou Yi to prevent Lu Jinhu from obtaining the family company however fate had something different in store for them.  Not only did they achieve their initially goals, but their relationship turned into something else, that could last a lifetime despite the cultural differences and the trouble Lu Jinhu and Yang Lin caused them.

I knocked on the door the boy had pointed to and was instantly crushed into a hug that was all too familiar. Sarah was hugging me like her life depended on it I was overwhelmed by this familiarity and meted into her arms. After about a good 5 minutes of this I pulled away and she can tell by my face that I had a brain full of questions. "Sarah... I need the truth."

Sarah invited me into her bedroom, that to be honest looked about the size of a mini house. I mean come on she has a 2 storied CLOSET!!! I don't understand why she didn't just fight to come back here instead of wasting her life looking after me. "Watching you and caring for you was most definitely not a waste! So don't even think it."
I stood there shocked for a moment, "you can read my mind" 
"There's a lot we need to talk about but first you need to get out of these bloody clothes" 
"But-"
"No but's star go into the bathroom and take a shower we have all the time in the world to talk."
With out meaning too I started laughing hysterically once I could finally speak I said 
"You said butts BHAHAHAHAH." Eventually after trying to keep a straight face for so long Sarah laughed with me and I made my way to the shower.

As I was getting out I realized I didn't exactly come in here with anything to wear so I wrapped my large bath towel around me and exited the bathroom. "Hey Sarah I-" and like that I bumped into Alex and yup you guessed it, with my 'great' luck my bath towel was yanked off.  All he had to say was "wow and you look even better when you not covered in guards blood." I just stared at him with my eyes so wide I could have sworn they exited my sockets for a few seconds. "What a perv! And I never killed your guards" now was his turn to stare at me bewildered "you can read minds too?"
"I have ears slow slow it doesn't take a mind reader🙄."
"Well yea that would be the case if I had said it out loud..." and at the Sarah showed up holding a gown and some undergarments and directed me to her bedroom but before leaving I turned and said "you don't look half bad yourself." And with that said I walked away like a boss😎 Could I some how be generating feelings for the 'prince'? NAHHH its probably those hormones Sarah was trying to explain to me when I turned 13.

Reaching into her coat pocket, Sara pulled out her phone and used her fingerprint to swiftly gain access. Perusing an e-book app, Sara chose a free book that caught her eye and began to read it to pass the time.

Sara wasn't a heavy reader and preferred reading lighter stories, mainly in the fantasy genre, and there was always plenty of those, allowing Sara to easily pick a book with little worry. If she didn't like this one, she would just stop and find another easily.

In addition to her reading, Sara also plugged in a pair of earphones and listened to a playlist of her favourite music, mostly a combination of idol music and other popular music.

Sara liked to listen to many types of music, but this type of music was her go-to music to listen to most of the time. Especially music by idols as it always brought a feeling of nostalgia to Sara as she had been a big fan when she was younger. Before gymnastics, it had been the life of an idol that had attracted her young eyes.

'If things had played out differently in the past and I had never gotten so much into gymnastics, maybe it would have been me auditioning today instead.'

Sara mused.

Like this, soon enough, a whole hour had already passed before she got a sudden urge to make a visit to the lady's room.

Awkwardly, however, she couldn't find any directions on the nearby walls that pointed towards any sort of bathroom. So, being the naturally introverted person she is, Sara naturally tried to just hold back the needs of her body for now.

But that quickly became a non-option. So, Sara eventually worked up the courage to ask a passer-by employee the directions to the closest bathroom half a dozen minutes later.

Thankfully, the directions were easy enough and Sara held herself from sprinting into the bathroom immediately after locating it; instead,  managing to reach the toilet, seemingly just in time of her impending release.

When finished, Sara chose to spend an extra few minutes to stretch out her limbs which had come to ache from sitting in the same position for so long and took advantage of her relative privacy to let out a long, unseemly yawn. It had been a long school day; being one of the last days before the upcoming exams, there was a lot the teachers were trying to cram down their throats last minute.

In her ears meanwhile, a new song began to play on her playlist, and a smile lit up Sara's features as she recognized the song instantly.

It was one of her favourites and she couldn't help herself humming along to it. Already knowing the bathroom was empty, Sara grew a little brave and even began to sing a little, though she was conscious enough to not sing too loudly. 

It would be so unbearably embarrassing if someone outside the stall were to hear her singing away like some lunatic after all. But then, who could hold back too much when singing one of their favourite songs?

Finally, however, when the nerves became too much, Sara eventually lowered her voice to but a mumble as she finally started to head out of the bathroom stall.

Pulling open the stall door, Sara was just about to walk right out before quickly stopping dead in her tracks, her mouth opening to form an exaggerated 'o' shape as she stared in horror at the sight before her.

There before her was a woman. Not quite middle-aged, she was dressed in a formal suit and was wearing a pair of glasses that gave her an intellectual air. Her long black hair was perfectly straight, and her eyes were an intimidating shade of grey.

And she would have likely looked rather intimidating if her rose coloured lips weren't stretched into the biggest, gummy smile as her grey eyes roamed the curious creature before her with deep interest.

[Ah-eh, ah…]

Sara stuttered, hardly able to function due to the embarrassment of the entire situation. The woman had definitely heard her singing!

Sara's cheeks tinted a dark shade of red at the thought.

Only, Sara couldn't understand why the woman was now just standing there right before her and gazing at her like an interesting item on display at the front of a store. Was she so determined to make her presence known, to make the situation for Sara as embarrassing as humanly possible that she had come to confront her about it?

[You have quite the unique voice, very interesting.]

The woman finally remarked after a while, her grey eyes wandering up and down Sara's body in an evaluating manner before turning a stern eye towards Sara's dark blue ones, her gaze causing a shiver of unease to pass through Sara.

[But what are you doing wasting your time here? Come on, or you'll be late for the audition!]

Before Sara could even grasp what was happening, one of her arms was commandeered by the intellectual looking woman and she was being dragged out of the bathroom without another word!

[W-wait what? I-I haven't even washed my hands ye-]

Sara cried out tragically as she tried in vain to free herself from the tight grip of her captor. But just like before with Briana, this woman was much stronger than her and thus she was dragged helplessly along the corridor as she wondered what it was about her that made people want to drag her around everywhere all the time?

Distracted by all this, it took several dozen seconds before the woman's last words were finally processed in her muddled thoughts.

[Wait! Did you mention something about an audition?!]

[Of course, if we don't hurry, you're going to be late. I don't know what you were thinking, going to the bathroom so last minute.]

The woman shook her head in a seemingly perplexed manner before looking back at Sara and asking further in confusion:

[And where is your ID card? You should place it on your front somewhere!]

[Eh, I don't have-No I mean, I'm no-]

Sadly, Sara wasn't given the luxury of finishing her explanation before she was being rushed into a room by the woman; the grey-eyed woman also seems to pay little attention to her protests as well, despite she being the one asking her a question in the first place…

Sara cursed internally at the situation and held back indignant tears as she helplessly followed along.

[Oh well, it won't matter. I'll vouch for you.]

The woman carelessly laughed the matter off, giving Sara a kind smile as if to ease her nerves. It would almost seem comforting if being auditioned was something Sara wanted to do in the first place; which she obviously did not!!

What was happening?! Was she really being forced into an audition against her will?!!

Follow the journey of a young Sara Weiss' journey into the world of pop music and idols.

Through a series of misunderstandings, Sara finds herself somehow auditioning to become an idol for the next girl group being deputed under the luxurious Petel Entertainment company. Through this twist of fate, a spark is lit inside the heart of Sara and the path to becoming an idol begins.
Author's Note: This will be a rather casual story, don't expect arrogant rivals or evil corporations after the main lead/group. My desire to write this story came from 1. being unable to find any other story of a similar nature (of decent length at least) 2. recently becoming a fan of K-Pop which is an obvious inspiration. 3. To write something casual in my free time, so don't expect countless updates.

Note on the world setting: The story takes place in a fictional world and while there will be some resemblance to idol culture in South Korea, most things will be vastly different. There will be no hierarchy system or anything like that for example and the culture will be less conservative in general. There are a couple of reasons for this, one simply being my hesitation to write about something I am mostly ignorant about, but also because I just like to write about fictional landscapes that I can shape as I please.

Note on romance: I currently have no inclination to include any romance at the moment, though if I do, it will highly be likely that it would be a girl love romance, as I'm a fan of those. But for now, no romance in these early stages of writing. I'll update the genre and tags accordingly if this changes.


Hey, there, reader! I'm Juliette, and if you are reading this, that means you bought my book about my life from the store that literally no one goes to!
I am 14 years old, and I live in Brody, Texas. I have an older sister named Ashley, she's 16, and two little brothers, they're twins and are 11 years old. Their names are Riley and Ryder. We have two dogs, and their names are Sadie and Darwin.
I live in a two-story house with 5 bedrooms, 2 living rooms, 2 kitchens, 4 bathrooms, a garage, and a beautiful backyard. My brothers share a place, while Ashley and I have our own rooms. We each have our private bathroom, except my brothers share one.
I have a lot of friends, but I am not in the popular kids' group. Most of my friends are not Christian. As a result, sometimes they unintentionally make me uncomfortable with things they say and believe and do. I still love them to death and would die for them.
My best friend lives in a town close by, and her name is Melanie. She is also a Christian, and I know her from our church. We do almost everything together.
I am writing this story in my junior year of high school, but it took place in my freshman year. I decided to share this story to tell people that when someone sacrifices something for you, you don't let that sacrifice be in vain because you are scared. This experience was hard and painful, but the end result was something beautiful and glorious. Now, this is where the story starts...

Juliette was born into a family, who, after her preschool age, went to church. She has little twin siblings, both boys, as well as an older sister. She goes to a public school where most of her friends are Atheist and she feels alone in her religion. But because of the sacrifices of several people, she might be able to change that.

The morning sunshine shone into the opulent bedroom making everything glitter. Qiye opened his eyes and looked down the woman in his arms. He ran his slender fingers across Mo Yan's lovely sleeping face. He felt an inexplicable peace. (Zuben: Why don't you all pile into bed with her and feel inexplicable peace together)

There was a sound outside of the room, Qiye rolled out of bed and grabbed a bathrobe to wear. (Zuben: Da fuq? You're shy?! I thought you were soldier boy; don't you share locker rooms?)

Xiao Muchen entered, 'Mo Yan isn't up yet?' he asked with a raised eyebrow.

Qiye sauntered to the bathroom as he replied, 'No, you should wake her up.'

She pillowed her head on her hand, which left a cute red imprint on her cheek. Muchen was reluctant to wake her up. (Zuben: Once the office lady farce is over, you can leave her to sleep as long as she likes)

'Mo Yan, it's time to get up,' he called, 'did you say you wanted to go to work.'

Mo Yan's eyelids fluttered and she slowly opened her eyes. She stared at him vague not recognising him, before rising exposing her naked body. Her actions were unconscious and he could not help the desire to kiss her. Looking at her bare body, there were no bruises. The bathroom door opened and Qiye returned to the room, Muchen stared at him in surprised askance.

'How could you just go to sleep?'

As if he could hear his friend's question, Qiye wore a teasing smile.

Mo Yan woke up fully, and quickly wrapped the quilt around her body.

'I would like to get dressed. Would you leave?' she said.

'It's not like we haven't seen your body before.' Qiye said wiping the water off his muscular body.

When she realised they weren't going to leave, she pulled the quilt with her. Using the quilt to cover her body, she put on her clothes. Feeling their heated gazed behind her, she dressed quickly.

Her slim fitting suit outlined her graceful lines. Her white legs looked longer when she put on her high heel shoes. She applied a vermillion lip gloss and a little face powder making her look delicate. Muchen and Qiye were unhappy; they didn't want anyone to see their beautiful girl.

'Let's go.' She said to Muchen.

'How cruel, where is my farewell kiss?' Qiye protested, getting in her way. He put his arms around her drawing her close. He was close to 190cm tall, towering over Mo Yan who was in high heels. She still needed to stand on tip toes to peck his lips. But Qiye took advantage and thrust his tongue into her mouth for a deeper kiss, indulgently tasting her. She became limp in his arms. When he was satisfied, he handed her off to Muchen with a wicked smile as he wiped the lipstick transposed on his lips. The sexy evil action is thrilling. (Zuben: Once again; to whom? Muchen? Dazed and confused Mo Yan? The reader?)

He held her as they went done the lift to the car park. He sat her in the passenger seat, and looked at her lips now swollen from kissing and Muchen rubbed the full bottom lip with his thumb before leading down to kiss her, carefully tracing the contour of her lips. Soon Mo Yan was panting. Feeling accomplished, he pulled fastened her seatbelt, and then his, before carefully driving to his company.

After recovering, Mo Yan reapplied her make-up and tidied her hair. When they arrived, she followed Muchen to the executive lift. Along the way, she received many surprised glances and looks of envy. They took the lift to the top floor, past widely spaced work desks, to his office.

His office was decorated in a simple yet elegant manner. Although there was an incongruous desk and chair ruining the office's flow.

'From now on you'll be my secretary. This is your desk. You only listen to me. Do not mind anyone else.'

As she was about to express her dissatisfaction, Muchen cut her off, 'This is the only position available. Nothing else.' (Zuben: It's only temporary)

Just then a young man walked into the office, 'Jason, give her the data from yesterday's meeting to process.'

Though he was shocked, Jason kept his expression neutral as he replied, 'Yes.'

In the time he had worked for Xiao Muchen, he had never brought a woman to the office. Let alone set her up to work beside him when there were many vacancies in other departments. Jason concluded this young woman was probably the future boss-lady, it was best not to offend her.

Description
After the ordinary woman Mo Yan read a novel recommended by her colleague, an earthquake happened and she transmigrated into the body of a tragic woman with the same name as hers, living an insignificant life by begging and hiding from the protagonists. The healer walked in with a med-reader cuff in his hands. The cuff is a convenient and portable way of getting a body reading, though they can only do the very basic examination they were still are very useful.

Placing the cuff on Lixiss's upper arm, the healer program the med-reader to run a blood analysis.

Lixiss's heart was pounding inside her chest. The "purging" honey her mother secretly sent to her, was all used for this purpose. 

If she didn't pass this test, Lixiss knew she wouldn't be able to handle staying clean for long and would use her hidden stash.

Thought it was not as potent as the batch of Serenity her father took from her earlier, it would still do the job.

Waiting for the results to come out felt like for forever. 

Stress sweat was pooling on her back, and her foot couldn't stop tapping on the floor.

When a beep was heard from the cuff, indicating the completion of the analysis, the healer read the results before walking to Lord Tasar's side. 

"My Lord, young Miss' blood shows low levels of Serenity still in her system. Which means young Miss hasn't consumed any more Serenity since her the start of her cleansing." 

"How much of the drug is still in her system?"

"About 20% is still left in her system. At this level, it should not affect young Miss' daily functions, with extra detoxing the drug should be flushed from her body." 

Expecting to see Lord Tasar's smiling face, what the healer saw instead was Lord Tasar stoically looking at his daughter.

"That is all you can leave." 

Closing the door behind him the healer left the room, and Lixiss dropped to her knees.

"Father, please let me out...I miss everyone. I won't do it again." Lixiss' face was covered in tears of pity, hoping to soften her father's heart.

"Lixiss, with periodic check-ups, I'm willing to release you from your cleansing early... "

"Oh! Thank you, father!" Lixiss eyes shown with triumph at seeing her tears still work on subduing her father's heart. However, before she could become too happy, Tasar popped her bubble.

"....but this will be the last time. The clan's laws are in place for a reason, and as the clan head, it's my job to enforce them even if it's on my own children. I have put my title as the clan leader on the line to protect you, but this will be the only time I will do so."

Walking to the door, Tasar stops to look back at Lixiss.

"Don't disappoint me again." Leaving those last words, he left Lixiss' residence.

Indeed, Tasar was tired of playing the doting father role. Maybe if Lixiss had stayed as the obedient daughter of the Udava clan, he could have continued treating her as his real daughter. However, with things as they were he didn't see the need. The best Lixiss can hope for now was to remain as just another clan member.

"Tsk." Lixiss picked herself up from the floor and dusted the dirt off her clothes. 

Closing her bedroom door, and entering her bathroom, Lixiss looked for her hidden stash. 

Finding it behind her lavatory, she pulled out a little vial. With the small amount of liquid that was inside Lixiss mixed it into a cup of water and downed it in one gulp.

Feeling Serenity taking effect, Lixiss washed her face and made her way to her mother's house.

After not being able to go outside for over half a month, Lixiss was on cloud nine. A bright smile on her face and drugs flowing in her body, Lixiss didn't discern the peculiar looks coming from the other clan members strolling outside.

Reaching her mother's residence Lixiss entered with familiarity, going straight towards Lady Vanya's bedroom.

As Lixiss was about to open the bedroom door, she heard her mother's voice. Thinking to extort some money to buy back the drugs she lost, Lixiss sneakily listened in on the conversation.

"Kendel, I already have everything planned out.....she's at her weakest right now, they won't be able to move her.....yes...I think that's best...you must make sure no one knows it's you...okay...."

Hearing her uncle's name, Lixiss knew her mother was up to something. She just couldn't make out what the was scheme from their discussion. 

"Young miss!... What are you doing here?"

"Ahh!" Kerala's voice frightened Lixiss into shouting out loud.

Before Lixiss could answer, Lady Vanya swung her door wide open, inviting them both into the room.

"Your father let you out early...?" Vanya didn't know how much Lixiss heard, but she didn't pay it any mind. She knew how to control her daughter well.

"En.....he said this is my last chance. Do you think he'll really banish me from the family?" There was a hint of uncertainty in Lixiss' voice.

A light flashed in Vanya's eyes for a moment before disappearing. 

"No. You are his baby girl. Doesn't he dotes on you the most?" Vanya off-handedly consoled her daughter. She had better things to discuss with Lixiss than the Udava clan's laws.

"Lixiss, have you seen Joanos lately..."

At the mention of Joanos, Lixiss hung her head down low. She remembered seeing Joanos there in her room when her father confronted her that morning but hasn't faced him since.

"He has been spending a lot of time with that girl...what is her name again?.....ah, Miss Mikaela. I think your father wants to marry the two."  

Lady Vanya said this comment nonchalantly to Lixiss, but it wasn't lost on Kerala what her Lady was doing.
 
Taking the hint from Lady Vanya's lead, Kerala mentions how she found Mikaela and Joanos shooting arrows together, and how cozy they looked.

Disgusted that something of hers being taken, Lixiss rushed out of her mother's house and ran towards her father's office.

"My lady, do you think young Miss can convince Lord Tasar?" Kerala asked as she and Vanya watched Lixiss' retreating back.

"No. This move is just a detraction for Tasar and Joanos. Besides, I can always get Joanos and Lixiss to marry later..."

Bai Muchuan's gaze was hot like fire.
Xiang Wan paused for a while then scrunched up her nose.
"Besides, you haven't even bathed. You just came out from the kitchen, there's the smell of cooking oil on you…"

Translator Review:
This is a novel encompassed with mystery, ethics, family ties, and romance. Of course, the highlights of this book are the murder cases. 
Although it’s a modern setup where none of the characters have a system or any other cheats, the Author managed to delight me with her writing, creative plots and a good pace without dragging her story. 
I marvel at the way the Author links up the clues and plot to explain the individual cases as well as paving the way to unravel the huge conspiracy behind the individual murders. Romantic plots are light-hearted so readers could take a breather from the plots of gruesome murders.
