This is a book About Facts and theories
In this book I give an interesting theory and get you interested so you can get interested into it and research it further.

* World Building

World Building is a vast task, and perhaps many new web novel authors stumble over this. Not many are able to create a good and interesting world, which can easily capture the attention of the readers.

A majority of writers rack their brains continuously over how they could make their world 'original' and 'interesting', and many times lose their enthusiasm for writing.


* Importance of World Building

World building is, obviously, important because the readers need to know exactly what kind of world your Protagonist lives in. What kind of environment is it ? Are there any monsters or beasts ? Is it a fantasy world or a Xianxia world ? How is the social structure in the world ? The history ?

Answering these questions one would realize that World building is a huge undertaking and each detail needs to be recorded. If the author forgets a detail it can cause a clash of facts. Such clashes not only make readers confused but also reduce or completely remove immersion, or the worst that can happen is the reader losing confidence in the novel or the author itself.

Following is an example of a Clash of Facts :

In Chapter X the author mentions that the Protagonist has reached the fifth level of Spirit Profound Realm. Later sixty chapters later the author writes that the Protagonist has just reached the first level of Spirit Profound Realm.


* Original content Vs Borrowed content

While writing original content is tedious and brain wreaking, there is a very good short cut to these problems, borrowing content !

Borrowing content means borrowing a pre existing concept. This concept may be from a popular movie, game, drama or myth, etc. Note that the word 'popular' is extremely important. This tactic works on the fact that the readers already are familiar with the concept, which is the reason why the readers can quickly immerse themselves in the novel.


* Disadvantages of Borrowed Content.

The reason we 'borrow' a content is because the readers are already familiar with it. But what if they are not familiar ?

For example, consider a Harry Potter fan fiction, a novel which is based on the Harry Potter series. Neither the author nor the reader has to waste their time in explaining or understanding the setting. The reader knows what to expect : magic spells, evil wizards, a weird school and an even weirder sport.

But if the reader does not know of the series, there is a good probability that the novel may be ignored.


* Solution

The best solution is to introduce the world building setting as if the reader is not familiar with the borrowed concept at all.
One might ask : Then what is the advantage of borrowing a concept if we have to spend words for the reader to familiarize ?

We write in this way because we have to cover both types of readers, those that know and those that don't.

For the readers who have never encountered the concept, they will treat it as just another web novel, and when they learn about the origin of the concept, their interest in it may awaken.

At the same time, for the readers are already know the concept, encountering it again is a moment of pleasure for them. They will anticipate what the Protagonist will do in the world familiar to them.

Such novels have a deeper level of immersion, as many people day dream themselves as the Protagonist whenever they watch a movie or play a game, etc.


* Borrowing the Concept of Clash of Clans

Following is my idea for world building by borrowing the concept from the popular mobile game "Clash of Clans" ---


01. There are two words : the Human world and the Goblin world.

02. The Goblin world has a 'Pillar of Authority', which enables a certain goblin (either a common goblin or a reincarnated person) to have power and rule all other gobllins. Note that this goblin is not the Protagonist but something like the Supreme Antagonist (Final Boss) or the Shadow of the Protagonist (like Sasuke in Naurto).

03. This 'Pillar of Authority' enables the goblins to invade the Human world.
04. The Human world has two pillars :
 (1) the Pillar of Ruling : It enables the Protagonist to have certain powers similar to the game characters of Barbarian, Archer, Wizard, etc. This pillar is a substitute to something like a system.

 (2) the Pillar of Afterlife : This pillar is introduced to explain abilities of game characters like the Witch, Skeletons, etc. The souls are sent and received from here.

05. The game characters will just be abilities in the world, and the abilities will be gender specific – a Barbarian cannot be female while a Witch cannot be male. Creatures like Skeletons, etc do not have genders.

06. The Protagonist will be the 'Village Head', and can have all abilites of the game characters. Thus, the Protagonist can be a Barbarian, Archer, Wizard, Witch, etc. Note that the Protagonist cannot have abilities of Skeleton and the like.

07. The Human world will have ancestors with powerful abilities of Barbarian, Archer, etc. but the present humans will have weakened their abilities (concept of bloodline).

08. As their bloodlines and abilities have weakened, their professions also be changed.

For example,

Barbarian changed to Warrior.

Archer changed to Guider.

Giant changed to Berserker.

Healer changed to Priestess.
Note that these names will be different only because their bloodlines have weakened, and there will be a kingdom (final boss in the human world) that might have retained their bloodline and might have Barbarians, Archers, Wizards, Healers, etc.

09. The Protagonist, using the Pillar of Ruling, can awaken the bloodline of his subordinates. Thus, a Warrior can awaken his bloodline to become a Barbarian.

Note that awakening a low bloodline ability like a Warrior is not easy.

In simple words,

Mortal ? Warrior (normal difficulty) ? Barbarian (high difficulty)

10. To avoid complication, both of the two worlds (the Human world and the Goblin world) will use Gold coins.

11. There will also be bloodline abilities like Builder and the Alchemist. Similar to the game, the Builder will create automatic cannons, traps, barracks, Elixir extractor and collector, etc. The Alchemist will be responsible for upgrading bloodline through Laboratory (leveling up characters like Barbarian, etc.) and creating spells (like Lightning spell, Haste spell, etc.) and creating Black Elixir. The Builders and Alchemists obtain their knowledge from the Pillar of Ruling.

Note that one needs to analyze as there are many concepts in game which has to be properly converted such that they can suit the web novel.

12. The pillars were introduced because it is more realistic instead of a system, and creates a cyclic effect.

The above statement covers two points :
 (1) The concept of a system itself is unrealistic and is centered around the Protagonist. The source of strength of the said Protagonist is mysterious and unexplainable to his fellow natives, and the biggest flaw is that this power cannot be inherited by the natives.

 (2) The cyclic effect means that the Protagonist is not someone special, and that the same plot keeps happening in the world. In this case, there are successors for the Pillar of Ruling and the Pillar of Authority and they gain strength and fight with each other, ending both of their civilization, and the cycle continues… …

13. There might be many kingdoms which would be differentiated according to the legacy they preserved. This legacy is the technology for creating cannons, spells, etc. and the bloodline abilities of their ancestors.

14. The interesting parts of the plot lies in how the Protagonist establishes his village and expands his domain. It will be interesting to read how the Protagonist will have powerful side kicks and establishes something like a royal family and subordinate or branch families or clans.

15. There won't be magic in the two worlds, but the use of Elixirs which would be extracted and drunk or utilized in weapons.

16. The Protagonist may or may not give themselves abilities of a Barbarian King , Archer Queen or Grand Warden. (Personally, I don't think the Protagonist should have this ability.)

17. The creatures in the world will be normal, except that perhaps they would be a little larger in size. This is done because we have to fit additional creatures like 'Dragon' and 'Lightning Dragon'.

Note that we won't be introducing game characters like 'Baby Dragon' (common sense) because, obviously, the Baby Dragon would grow up into a Dragon.

Also, it is not advised to create additional creatures like 'Saber Toothed Tiger', etc. because it may clash with the theme of the world. Both the Human and the Goblin world are similar to our original world.

18. Note that Clash of Clans is a mobile game, and it will have many updates. To convert it into a web novel it is advised to stick to a particular update. For example, if I wrote this novel, then I would stick to the earlier stages of the game, when there were fewer complications and less characters.

19. Objects like cannons and archer towers, etc. can be explained through some technical jargon like formations, etc.

Note that you must never create an 'automatic building' in your novel.

For example,

A barrack in which the Protagonist sends his barbarians to train and they come out five minutes later after consuming elixir.

Things like these are very lethal immersion killers.

20. Gems can also be introduced which can enhance training of soldiers, boost spells or attacking buildings, etc.

The crux of all this is to make the gaming concepts fit the real world.

21. Realize that a story without romance is like a bird without wings. Especially when you are targeting male readers, it is better to make the Protagonist the head of the family, with numerous kids and subordinates respecting him.

22. Do not run away from the 'Harem' word. Instead well balanced female characters balance the story and make it more interesting. Specially for this concept which has game characters like Archer, Healer, Valkyrie and Witch. One can also add the character 'Village Chief Assistant' (the woman that comes at the start of the game). The Village Chief Assistant may have a lesser version of powers than the Protagonist and is a good path for the 'first girl' in a harem.

My guardian angel descended from heavens and smacked me on the head and asked: "WHAT THE **** is THIS **** ....". 

It should have happened that way but in truth - one, very nice, reader-san contacted me and nicely pointed out many mistakes I've made in the last chapter. 

So I've gone back to correct as much as I could and I advise reading through it once again if possible. It hasn't changed entirely but a lot of facts and characters' actions have been (in my opinion) improved. 

Sorry about that! It's just like me to fail horribly when I asked for reviews xD.

I got an inspiration to write a fan-fic of "Kono Subarashii Sekai ni Shukufuku wo!" by Natsume Akatsuki. It's one of my favorite novels. If you haven't read it then put down my novel and read the original first. It's better, obviously.

Jiang Cheng's father, Jiang Dejun, was a very traditional man especially when it came to his work. He always considered himself a traditional scholar and held himself to old traditional ideas. 

So when Jiang Cheng applied to Shanghai Drama Academy, although Jiang Dejun eventually nodded his agreement, he still held some reservations.

Jiang Dejun had always wanted Jiang Cheng to inherit his so-called traditional culture and ideas, so he always wanted him to become something along the lines of a literary major or a history major, he didn't expect Jiang Cheng to choose the performing arts.

He had always held a biased opinion against actors and the entertainment industry and though acting was considered part of the arts he viewed it as something of lower rank. 

In the past, Jiang Cheng always wanted to prove to his father that even if he became an actor in the future, he wouldn't forget the culture, traditions, and ideas inherited from Chinese civilization and would instead strive to promote them.

The old Jiang Cheng thought of writing a book. He thought if he could write a book that could gain Jiang Dejun's admiration and respect, he would have no objections.

It was a pity that although he was very smart and held outstanding academic achievements since childhood, engaging in book publishing and editing work since childhood, his fondness of literature and writing alone wasn't enough when it actually came down to it.

Writing a book was very difficult.

After all, writing one wasn't just writing whatever came to mind but the long-term accumulation of skill and writing material.

Therefore, although the original Jiang Cheng always held such an idea it unfortunately never came to fruition.

But there was no such problem now. Jiang Cheng had a lifetime of memories and experiences. Not to mention Jiang Cheng himself was a screenwriter, a master of storytelling. In his memories there were a huge number of best-selling books, more than a decade's worth. 

However, considering his current age and identity, Jiang Cheng decided to plagiarize the future historical book: 'Stories About The Ming Dynasty' that would become popular in the south and the north.

In the past, when it came to history, the first thing people thought of was the rigid records of history textbooks. Rarely did anyone except those studying the subject deliberately consult those history books. It was because the books were truly unsightly!

Except for those without much choice or the truly enthusiastic no one else would be willing to troll through thick chunks of information filled with nothing but facts and dates. 

But the emergence of "Stories About The Ming Dynasty" had broken those previous conventions, letting people realize for the first time that history could be written like this.

Although it delivered the same information, the writing method used by the author was different. It was a kind of fresh brushwork full of vitality, the characters seemed like they were all about to jump out of the book.

With his pen, the historical figures were no longer rigid names you had to memorize for an exam but real people. As the Ming Dynasty experienced its ups and downs, you couldn't stop reading. 

True to the opening words of the book: [History should be fun to read]. The author did his best to make learning about the Ming Dynasty enjoyable.

As a screenwriter, Jiang Cheng knew that the success of a good book was one that allowed the reader to have a strong sense of substitution when reading it. If there was a sense of substitution, the reader would unconsciously fall into the world of the book and would read on not wanting to stop; on the contrary, if there was no sense of substitution, the reader would just place the book down and move on.

Undoubtedly, the previous rigid history books wouldn't give anyone a sense of substitution. 

Especially now so, as technology developed and people became less and less interested in researching the past and reading ancient texts. With less and less need in real life, there were fewer and fewer people who studied history.

"Stories About The Ming Dynasty" was different. The author Mingyue used humorous language to narrate those historical events like they were telling a story. The historical characters were given humanity and character, this made them feel more like humans with flesh and blood, people that had actually lived once upon a time. 

The reader discovered over time that the emperors and princes in history too were ordinary people, they too had joys and sorrows, as well as worries and fears. As if passing through space and time, the reader felt a strong resonance and those historical figures and historical events seemed to be within reach.

This book successfully increased interest in history. Showing that history wasn't something only for professors but something that everyone could touch.

Therefore, writing this book could not only cope with Jiang Dejun's complaints, but also indirectly ignite his fame, killing two birds with one stone, especially since he was most in need of fame now, why not?

Getting excited as he thought of his plan, Jiang Cheng immediately acted.

First of all, he found lots of books about the Ming Dynasty. After all, it was a thing of his previous life. Jiang Cheng's memory of the book was only an approximation, he only remembered the language style, as well as the overarching plot. 

Moreover, Jiang Cheng didn't intend to copy Mingyue word for word, it would only be a loose frame, he wanted to write something that was his own.

Fortunately, his father had a plethora of history books if nothing else.

After selecting a couple of relevant ones, Jiang Cheng turned on the desktop again and opened up Word.

The first input was a huge title- [Stories About The Ming Dynasty]

Then the famous sentence under the title: [History should be fun to read] 

The title of the first chapter "Emperor Hongwu" followed and as the story of the legendary emperor Zhu Zhongba slowly unfolded, the book also began to take shape little by little....

Jiang Cheng a screenwriter is reincarnated to 2001, into the seventeen-year-old body of another Jiang Cheng. 

Clutching onto the dreams of his previous life he attempts to succeed where he previously failed. 

He starts from scratch, as a small-time screenwriter writing television shows and movie scripts. 

Filled with dreams of becoming a generational  entertainment legend and establishing an entertainment empire he takes the road to become the King of Film.

Pros - good content, many different historical facts.

Cons - a text block, it became better than it was 1.5 years ago. But my English is the third language, so some roughness and grammar problems are inevitable.

Kieran looked at Rachel in surprise when she suddenly stopped talking.
Both of them were having an honest conversation but now her sudden attitude proved differently, could it be...
Kieran suddenly thought of something.
"You can't say it? Or couldn't?" Kieran asked.
Rachel didn't say anything, keeping quiet and wiping her glasses. She even avoided Kieran's eyes but her reaction was enough for Kieran.
"I understand," Kieran nodded and didn't further question her.
"I'll go do some investigating and I'll tell you everything once I get results," Rachel said before she turned around and walked back to the living room.
Kieran saw her off before going to the ever joyful Lawless.
"Wait for me, 2567! I'm almost done with my challenge!" Lawless said as Kieran walked over but when Kieran was beside him, Lawless started to get blurry and even snuck under the table.
It was easy to knockout a person by mixing two or three types of liquor, let alone 22 meticulously arranged ones.
His blurry conscious was already evidence of his decent drinking capacity, considering anyone else would have easily blacked out.
Kieran grabbed his friend and threw him on the sofa.
"DerDer, check on him please," Kieran told the doctor who was sitting beside.
"Okay."
Although DerDer had joined the gang, he took his doctor etiquette very seriously, not drinking a drop of alcohol.
"It's fine, 2567, Lawless always intoxicates himself with alcohol."
"Yeah, he will be up soon enough."
Hanses and Ramont teased the blurry Lawless.
Both of them obviously didn't think of the other 'things', which was exactly what Kieran wanted.
"It's because of that that DerDer should check on him. I don't want Lawless to run into trouble because of some minor accidents," said Kieran.
He then sat beside J.Pearlman,
"Hey 2567," a simple greeting later, J.Pearlman went quiet.
For the Fisherman, killing his own leader Amilian and getting kicked out of Freedom Alliance were facts that he couldn't accept.
But facts were facts, what happened could not be changed.
"Running away is useless," said Kieran in a very direct manner.
"But other than running away, what else can I do?" J.Pearlman smiled bitterly.
"There is a lot, in fact. Do what you wanted to do, living in the past because of restrictions, or you can avenge your leader. I've killed that guy who took control of you but based on the current situation, he might just be a slightly bigger pawn. There is still some mastermind behind all this. Besides, that bastard's power cannot be activated directly; he must get in contact with you, get either your hair, nail or even blood, and have a 7 days buffer to be in effect," Kieran briefly talked about the effects of [Voodoo Pillar].
J.Pearlman was no idiot by all means, his eyes squinting a little when he heard what Kieran said.
"You are saying there is still accomplices of that bastard in Freedom Alliance?" J.Pearlman said as he looked at Kieran.
"I don't know. Maybe yes, maybe no. It all depends on your investigation and if you don't mind, I hope you can share with me your results," Kieran said slowly.
"Very well," J.Pearlman drained every single drop of his liquor and left Harvest Inn.
Kieran saw the Fisherman off as he took sips from his lemon water.
There must be someone else inside Freedom Alliance who sided with Aligino, maybe even more than one.
Otherwise, quietly getting hair, nails, or blood was fairly difficult. No matter how clumsy or careless a person was, he would be cautious against others who showed interest in people's hair, nails, or blood, especially in the big city.
However, Kieran had no time to deal with small fish when he was facing the big fish.
Giving up a hundred bucks for a penny was inconceivable for Kieran, hence J.Pearlman was the best candidate to solve this problem.
"What a kind guy."
Slightly intoxicated, Lemour the Alchemist muttered in a muffled voice.
Kieran heard it, lifting his glass of lemon water at her without further commenting on the Fisherman's character.
The alcoholic Lemour lifted her head backwards as she poured the bottle of liquor into her mouth, gulp after gulp going down her throat. A while later, the 150 cm lady snuck below the table, no one willing to help her up, including Kieran, who indirectly caused the scene.
Though at the next moment, Kieran felt a grudgeful gaze, it was… Raven the Loner!
The man who had been carrying his cat and had a seemingly weak physique lowered his head when he noticed Kieran was looking at him, trying to pretend nothing had happened.
Kieran, however, would not assume that he was overthinking.
He shifted his gaze between the unconscious Alchemist and the Loner, the latter breathing heavier and heavier as seconds passed. Kieran smiled as he took another sip of his lemon water, looking like he had noticed some huge secret and celebrated the discovery with the strongest liquor.
A minute later, Kieran received a message from Raven.
Raven: Keep it a secret, I know how to effectively train your animal companion.
2567: Sure.
…
A quick and simple trade delighted Kieran a lot. After he saw the transcript that Raven traded him, his delight surged higher.

Although it wasn't a skill book, the transcript itself had proved Raven's abilities.
Just when Kieran wanted to ask something, a sudden cold aura came from the small living room behind the bar.
Without further ado, he went inside and other than Raven, no one noticed Kieran's abrupt departure.
However, when Raven saw the unconscious Lemour, he didn't act, sitting there quietly and looking at her as usual.
She was unconscious, so Lemour didn't notice anything, as usual.
The laughter in the inn never stopped, just like how it had always been.
