Lin Xinyu felt the eyes of her inquiry: "What happened?"

This novella is quick, sweet romance. Kate was with her boyfriend for two years in a dead end relationship. A chance sighting at a job interview places Kate at her dream job and in the presence of her future. She meets Ernst who is seemingly living a double life. Fate draws them together for a HEA. The story was told from a third party point of view. It was very descriptive and the plot was clear and easy to follow. While you knew the plot and where it was going, at times the wording was very stilted, which could lead to some confusion when reading. This also made it difficult for me to connect with the characters and truly invest in the story.

Morning after morning when all she replied with a negative

Reaching home here mother shi started to ask her question about her well being such a s she is alright ? feeling any uncomfort etc..... but after sometime the main topic appear what she deluded about in hospital kuku know what her mother is passionate about her writing as much as she is about her cooking and farming so she tell her everything without leaving out anything to help her mum.. as doctor told her about her daughter cause of faint was due to her  not sleeping and anxiousness
and she knows that the reasons for all this is because she may be experimenting on a new dish or making new gadget l tr tr. but she do not confirm with her daughter because she is sure about it but she is supportive of her  childrens passion as she is passionate about her writing novels she knows how important a passion is and will support her children until and unless it harm other in any other person or themselves so she left after giving her daughter a quick warning which she is sure will be ignoredʅ(´⊙◞⊱◟⊙`)ʃno respect for elders（-""-;) she used to pray her mom.. children today but..... she has to write her material down quick so she ran walk toward her room and closed the door with bang(like mother like daughter) 


and what kuku do don't beat her mother expectations  because as soon as her mother door closes with furious sound of typing which sound unhuman typing speed shedo what?( ahahahahashe )doesn't sneak (ू•ᴗ•ू❁), she walk in kitchen proudlyᕕ(ᐛ)ᕗ,  if you don't count her looking at the doors of her mothers room or main door for sudden surprise attack of her brothers who she definitely will have already heard about  the incident due to small town and free Pepole anyway. and will give ear 👂full about it. in their family there's is no seniority as everyone is equal when someone committed a mistake. and  she mostly does the part of hearing when an incident occurred

so as soon as she reached the kitchen she pull out the bag containing 2watermelon one she bought before fainting another she got from aunty shopkeeper for free to get her heat down and nourishment up in the hot summer 

so she decided to prepare  watermelon sorbet and ice cream  kuku started to use her knife to cut open the watermelon in half  with a steady hand now she  started to carve out  round balls of water melon using spoon the small balls were  of  same size and colour made  and carve out of core the balls were than placed in pate and then in frige to prevent them from loosing juice and cooling them down the watermelons 🍉 other part wew than place in fridge along with the whole watermelon in vegetable section to slowly cool dowdown while she rested I closed listening to contryside sound such as graahopper  and cicada sounds  and small puppy 🐶 barking  and( ｡• 👅 •｡｀) image in  her head calling him master 


she doesn't open her eyes in surprise as this is her second secret not even her family knows about and even told will be counted as her  being delusional ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ as she was first time she told her mother about it and used as a subject for noveland when read  about it after completion of book become shocked ⊙▂⊙ and afraid😖 as she doesn't think possibly of getting researched  by Scientiest or betrayed by trusty friends as mention in the novel in protagonist thought section so she stop pressing and proving to her family about it and in talk less in class  in case of any slip up

Time started flying by ever since I watched the spar between Lilu and Jade. 
Lilu and Crim started the academy which made me mostly only see them during dinner, Crim especially. Most of their time they spend either training or learning about 'Dust', the very same crystal I saw that thief used to evade the guard.
Remembering how that crystal exploded into a shower of lightning, I wasn't fully comfortable seeing Crim holding one, albiet a blue one, to show off to the other kids.. Jade was nearby eyeing like a hawk incase of accidents, which I don't blame her.
Somehow, I'm not sure when, I gathered the ire of Crim. Who lately has been growing into quite a asshole, or maybe he always been like that, I don't know. Rarely interracted with the brat.

Lilu, however, has been growing quite fond of me. When Raye or Jade was unable to take care of me, Lilu, using her valuable training time, always volunteered.
Although it was, and still, is awkward being around her, her taking care of me realised she is particularly lonely. Other words, She is not really friends with anyone here, much to my confusion.
My first real impression of her was when she sparred with Jade, she seemed like a friendly hardworking girl, but it seem that was her when she fights, outside battle she is a quiet loner who doesn't feel comfortable near others, this trait becomes very obvious when she is near boys.

1st month marked quite a odd time for everyone in the orphanage, especially Crim.
A few faunus huntsmen came by the orphanage one day, informing Crim that his brother is MIA, but confirmed not dead. They left shortly after they delivered something to Crim.
From that point onwards he became even more difficult to deal with as he was prone to violent outbursts, constantly arguing with Jade in the kitchen about something, never got the chance to hear the kids tantrum as Raye always took me and the kids away when it happened.

I noticed pretty quick that Crim had soured any relationship he had with his friends in the orphanage, ended up training somewhere else that wasn't the orphanage, mostly only appearing during dinners as Jade was still his guardian.

Days came and went, and I started develop a distaste of being carried.
Although it felt great being carried everywhere, there was an underlying itchiness that I really hated whenever it happened.
It was only during the 3rd month in this odd new world when I finally was able to take my very first step.
''C-Come to us, Lapis!'' Lilu blushingly said as she and Raye was crouched down next to eachother, both cheering on me as I stood by the sofa, trying woobly take my first step in my baby body.

It was quite embarrassing, with Jade and some of the children looking and waiting on me to take a step, I felt a odd pressure that made me start laughing in my head.
'Its as if i'm being peered pressured into taking my first step, jeez' Lapis couldn't help but to think with a light smile.

Letting go and at the same time using the sofa to push me forwards, I took my first step, although my legs were wobbling alot, I managed to take another before..

*BANG*

Faceplanting staight into the floor.
''L-Lapis!'' Lilu said with a panic as she rushed forward to check if I was alright, Raye just on her heels.
''N-Nn...'' Lapis quietly let out, ignoring the pain of his nose, he looked up at Lilu, giving her a light smile as she and Raye started to panic. ''Get some paper'' Raye said to some of the children, who hurringly went to the kitchen.
Only a second passed before there was a light laughter coming from the room, everyone, Lapis included looked at the direction of who laughed.
'Of course it's him' Lapis thought, as Crim, the brat who laughed merely looked around before mouthing an 'What?' as he started walking out to the backyard, very likely to train again.

Next 3 months, I spend most of the time trying to walk better during the day, and at night lightly grind my Meditation skill.
Before I even noticed, I spend most of my time with Lilu, who accepted my company. Although I was unable to speak, it seemed like she prefered the silence, merely enjoy my presence.
I came to enjoy her company aswell, and as if she knew, she kept showing me various of books she had to learn from the academy that I was curious about
.
'Various Dusts and how to use them' was one of the first books I was shown, originally thought that I would be unable to read what the book said, and had to focus on the colorful pictures, I was abit surprised when I realised I was able to read the book.

'I guess it isn't one of those scenarios where I'm able to speak their language but unable to read it' Lapis mumbled to himself as he recalled the time he met the gnomes for the first time.
'In that eternal hellhole, language wasn't a barrier as two could speak different languages and there would be no confusion, confusion only came when one tried to read another races books or scripts'

From the book, I learnt that each crystal is color coded, Lightning would be Yellow and the blue one Crim showed off would be a Water one.
Didn't get a chance to read the others before Lilu took the book away, 'Next time..' I thought before she placed another book infront of me, and then going back writing on her current homework.
'Kinda surprised each kid get their own room though' I thought as I looked around the room, 'Lilus room isn't really girly though..'

So because of Lilu, I learnt what first years of the academy had to learn.
Usage of Dust, awakening and training ones Aura, combat techniques, survival training and much to my surprise, Blacksmithing.
That one came out of the blue when she placed down a book about smithing and forging weapons, and what kind of techniques for what shaping was needed, and how to maintain and repair weapons.
'Does that.. mean.. that guard guy forged that weapon himself?' I couldn't help but exclaim in surprise, remembering he had an icon of huntsman, same that Cole had on his armor.

There was one more book that students of the academy had to learn, but that one I wasn't allowed to look at. 'Scary pictures' was the excuse Lilu used.
So with that, the scenario where a purple haired girl was writing and learning while a white haired child was on the floor, flipping the pages of the book occasionally. Happened often.
The days when Lilu didn't have homework, she spent her time training with her spear. I followed and watched her as I found her to be quite like an fairy during those days.

And like that the 6th month since the spar was reached, with Jade teasing Lilu for me being always around her, much to her embarrassment. 

Only people I really interracted with was Jade, Raye and Lilu.
The Goblin Trio sometimes, when they caught me trying to escape from them that is.
I been dodging Crim, especially being alone with him, I'm don't know why he is angry at me, but my gut feeling tells me that he will bully me the very second he gets the chance. He is not very good at hiding his intent.

That day had an heatwave washing over the kingdom of Vacuo, the children was forced to play inside as the heat was abit unbearable for them, me included.
Just like the past days, I found myself in Lilus room once more, with her doing homework like always.

'Such a hardworker' Lapis mused as he found himself reading a new book. Rather than the academy books Lily got, he ended up reading a fairy tale that Raye gave him, or specifically, Lilu to give to him when he needed 'reading time', Lilu probobly didn't realise Raye ment that she was suppose to read it to me, instead she just left me it before going back to her homework.. 'But I don't think she would be able to read a whole fairy tale to me without flustering or stuttering', Lapis thought, so he was fine with this arrangement either way.

'The Story of the Seasons' was the fairy tales name, it had very colorful pictures, so I can understand why children would like this book.
The premise was quite simple, a hermit was visited by four women, each represented a season. Each woman taught the hermit a lesson and showed him kindness, the hermit was moved by this kindness and, in return, revealed himself to be a wizard, gave each woman a great power. And with this great power, each woman started wandering the world spreading their gifts and kindness to others.
Creating an cycle of kindness.

Guessing the purpose of this fairy tale was to make children kind to others, but it creates this illusion that they would expect to be given kindness too.

'That's not how the real life works' he couldn't help but to grumble, eyes slowly started to frost over. 'Give them a inch, they'll take a mile. Give them kindness, they'll exploit you, backstab you and kill your loved ones infront of you.' 
If anyone watched Lapis at this moment, they would have noticed his eyes are colder than the frigid winter itself, A light gasp echoed out in the room as Lapis eyes returned to their former glow, as he looked up onto Lilu, who currently looking around in panic.

''W-What was that?.. I-Is someone playing w-with the temperature generator?'' Lilu exclaimed before looking over her shoulder onto Lapis. ''Y-You okay, Lapis?'' Lapis hesitantly nod before going back to his books, with Lilu calming down before doing the same.
Lapis however wasn't reading the book, instead his mind was in conflict from the new system notification.

Lapis just froze as he observed that error notification, originally he was happy with it. Thinking 'Woo, new skill' 
'But this..' he thought.. before a sharp sense of pain stabbed into his brain, at that moment he
thought someone had stabbed his head with a dagger. The sharp sudden pain completely knocked his breath away, forced him to wrap his head with both of his hands. 

An light thump sound alerted Lilu, who turned around and saw Lapis who were twisting on the floor with a few splatter of blood next to him. Lilu panicked and started calling for help, not caring at that moment if she would lose her voice.
But Lapis was unable to hear her, at that moment, the pain overwhelmed all his senses, the feeling of something grinding in his head constantly, but he heard something whispering at the back of his mind, something that made the pain feel even worse, even when he was unable to hear what the whispers said.
He saw a new window pop up infront of him the very second the pain vanished, surprising him at the same time as he still had his eyes closed, but able to see and read it as if his eyelids didn't exist.
But he was only able to read the name of the skill he got before he blacked out, exhausted from the ordeal.

In a place where the skies are fractured, endlessly across the sky, and landscapes from twisted imagination, ever changing hellscape, A lone hooden man stood.

Overlooking the lands, the man let out a depressed sigh as he sat down, watching the lands shift in its shape and form.

''How long have I been here..'' the man mumbled, he remembered a much simpler time.
This eternal world is unforgiving, and made him do so many things he regret.
Looking up to the eternal sky, he watched as various of things shifted into it.
Sometimes it was nothing, blank. Sometimes there was 'Stars'.
Most of the times, there was countless eyes, giving the feeling of something always watching you.
The Weave.
A cruel mistress, loved to torture you, break you, using your worst fears against you.
Those who were unable to endure broke under pressure, and those who broke was the weaves favorite food.

People refused to be toyed by the weave, and so even the kindest man eventually became a bloodthirsty being.
In the name of survival.. and a middle finger to the weave itself, 
As long as we stay.. 'Sane'.. it cannot touch us, merely taunt us..
But the moment we lose ourself, without hesitation, the weave attack us with the intent to devour us.

Mortal, demon, gods, it doesn't matter.
Everything was food to it.

As the man started having dark thoughts and emotions of a long forgotten time bubbling forth, he noticed the land vibrate in response, small cracks started to form around his location.
''Shit.. Let my mind go abit too far, huh..'' The man mused as he stood up from his spot, observing the cracks growing larger and larger.

''So what are you throwing towards me this time, Weave?'' he mumbled, as fair red-haired woman stepped out of the cracks, fitted in dark living armor, with black tar like veins flowing on the skin on the woman as she looked towards the direction of the hooded man, who slightly reeled back before his gaze turned cold, and a feeling of dread washed over the area.

''Mother..''

'Mother' Lapis gentle exclaimed as he opened his eyes in confusion, before calming down as he watched the ceiling.
Lapis eyes were clouded as he replayed a memory long forgotten, before turning his head, noticing the clock being on 10:02.
Turning his head to the other side of the bed, he saw Lilu sleeping next to him while holding his hand gently.
With a rush of memories of what happened yesterday, Lapis couldn't help but to feel sorry for Lilu.
'I must have worried her alot..' he letting out with a sigh before he hesitantly closed his eyes to access his system window.
'Lucky there is no school day today, or else i'd feel pretty bad for her if she missed a school day.'

[THE SYSTEM]

Here in our "world", we're controlled, lived our lifes by some kind of hierarchy. We call it the SYSTEM. The SYSTEM works like a food chain, the weakest stays on the bottom and the strongest goes on the top. 

The SYSTEM is never the same. Who stands on the top depends on us, the people. My father always told me that being a part of the system was never easy, there's not reallt such thing called rest. You could be overthrown or eliminated from the system anytime. By other words, killed or assasinated. 

My father and I are at the top of the chain for almost a decade, a record breaker, of course. Not until the Agoston's decided to break our ties and called out for a civil war that goes one for as long as I'm alive. 

For now two years, Cailean Agoston, the heir and the only last one from the Agoston's , is now on the top, eliminating me and my father's whole gang. Well, he told everyone that he elimated me, yet I'm still alive writing this.

He gained allies faster that I thought he would. Getting allies means that you get to expand your family/gang and your teritorry if you have one, making you stronger. The ally everyone's been taking about is the guy who's last name is Kim, not Cassian though. Heard that this man killed a whole gang in one night with nothing but food poison. Seems like he's from the middle ranks, judging by how cheap his way of killing is. 

Cassian is a different kind of ally to Cailean. Cassian's family was nothing but a slave for the Agoston's. They're slaves until Cassian was the only one left from the Benz's. Despite of how different their ranks are, they were somehow close friends and Cailean decided to call Cassian his heir to the throne as soon as he "eliminated" me. 

Regardless of how simple the SYSTEM can be, the people inside it makes everything extreme. Every gang/family have their own rules. But one rule is required for everyone. 

"There is no escape from the system."

Once you're in, there's no going out. You say the oath of your chosen gang/family, get marked or branded, change your looks, fit in, and try not to die. That's for the ones who want to join us. If you're interested.

But us, the children of the mafias? The children of those who are already in the SYSTEM? We have no choice but to live here either as disgrace or a pride of the family. Some kids, like the boy from the Kazumi's who killed himself or like the brothers from the Oldrich's who drowned together, they chose death as a way to escape. 

Can't blame them, their families are nothing but struggling low rankers. Easy preys, barely have enough shelter. I'd kill myself too if I come from those families. 

Don't underestimate the low rankers, though. Those people are the ones that barely has any attention on. Who knows what could any of them are planning on us high rankers. 

To prevent that, people from the middle to the top rankers would sweep clean the markets, not letting a single fabric or bread crumb behind. Without food or materials, there's no way you can have strength to start something.

In conclusion, the system is the only thing that keeps our "world" sorted nice and clean. There hasn't been any changes to the rules or whatsoever since the 90's. 

So, may the best player claim the throne and watch as cousins, brothers, or lovers fight for power.

So in this book, i decided to make not only chapters here, so you guys could understand  more about the world I try to make for this book (hopefully it's not that confusing hehe). So there will be more of NOTES, maybe not only from Sera, who knows :0

She was a soon-to-be head of the Aces, the heir of her family.
She was a "queen", now held under the king. 

 No one expects a girl to be so vicious.
No one expects a boy to be so weak. 
And no one was expecting the storm coming close on the horizon. 

 What if you put two dangerous people who barely gets along together in a mission, risking their lifes to save not only the system, but also their loved ones?

Follow along their story, 
where promises were broken, hearts were teared, blood was spilled, where families turned into enemies, and secrets that were meant to be forgotten appears between upon them.

This is a story of Sera and Caliean.

I get it, sometimes it can be easy to be swayed to write something you don't enjoy. Say if everyone around you loved romance and sci-fi books, but you loved history books. You would be drawn to write sci-fi or romance so that your friends will read it. Don't! 
Doing that is only going to make writing it insufferable to you. Before I turned this into a book that will help starter witters write, this was going to be a sci-fi book. I tried to force myself to write chapters I didn't want to, so instead I changed it to an educational book. I find this much more enjoyable and easy to do. 
I'm not saying you shouldn't challenge yourself to write about themes other than the ones that you enjoy. That is a very good idea, sometimes it just takes a dip into another world to see things from a whole new perspective. That's the reason I was writing the sci-fi book, if i hadn't it wouldn't have turned into to this. Sometimes you might get into that theme of book and start writing it more often.
If you enjoy writing what you write, other people will see it. There will be things like editing a chapter 3 times in a week or writing a new one everyday. If you don't enjoy writing the book, you might just say the editing takes a while which is why you only update the story once a week. That isn't good! 
Of course sometimes you'll get busy with life and won't have the time you need to write the chapter, but if you enjoy what you write you'll want to come back to it every day or every other day. Take Valerie the Orphan as an example, I uploaded a chapter everyday because I was so in love with the characters and the plot and the timing and just everything!

Speaking of timing, if you want to write a fantasy book from way back in the 1700's, do it! Don't not write it just because you think other people won't like it. I'm sure there have been many people wondering if someone's ever gonna make a fantasy book from back in the 1700's.

This book will be full of helpful tips on how to start your own book. There is no lead, this is not about history. History was just the closet thing to education I could find. I hope you enjoy these tips for amateurs!

Some authors in chat talked about a book's worth. 

Most agreed that its value depends on the readers' willingness to pay for a novel. And the most selling here in WN are romance and h e n t a i.

Honestly, it is true in a sense that most authors who don't write these two genres or have the general audience receive lesser income to none. However, there are also other genres that are popular.

What saddening is that a story which has no s** will be buried deep in the list of books.

One time, a person told me that he won't read books without s**. I think you understand what I mean.

Sad... 

Those good literary authors will just choose Amazon. I totally agree with that.

But, is that what really makes a book valuable? So, the authors will just resort to writing stories with s**  since most will welcome it.

I feel sad if it is.

I've been reading and watching epic and classic stories like Mary Poppins, The Twelve Kingdoms, Fushigi Yuugi, The Vision of Escaflowne, Star Wars, Anne of Green Gables, Pride and Prejudice, Little Women, and others. 

These are great books but I'm not sure if the new generation is still reading them.

Hoping they are.

So, what is the worth of a writer? Of a person's storyteller's heart and creativity?

Will it just be buried deep in isolation? Will it just be following the flow of readership and abandon its desire to produce good stories?

I disagree. We still love good stories. There are still more readers who love good reads. In fact, these type of stories are more engaging and imploring. Those epic stories won't be called epic if no one reads them anymore. They are classified as such because their worth is beyond trends.

They simply go against the flow and create a tsunami, leaving people awestruck.

That is the type of book I want to write. I prefer to be remembered as an author who writes good stories without compromising the principles I believe.

Don't get me wrong. There are still good books with a bit of those s** things out there that you can read. But they don't focus on those scenes but on the story itself.

I am a person who never follows trends. And I care less what people call me. I will rather be true to myself than to follow the crowd and lose my self-respect.

In my opinion, the worth of a story is not only on the business side but also on how much heart and effort the author gives to his/her books.

To authors: Let us enjoy writing good stories. Let us be proud of what we write for not everyone can be authors. And not all writers can finish a book. The truth, most books here are unfinished.

To readers: Support good books and give the authors that confidence to continue writing good stories. Without your support, the authors might give up. If no one read good stories, then there's no point on writing one. But I believe most readers still love those type of books.

The Sorceress' Heir: Blossoming Youth and Power

By the time Qin Zhi'ai had finished reading her book, Gu Yusheng still hadn't woken up.
Qin Zhi'ai sat on the sofa for a long time thinking about how she still hadn't written back to Mr. S since she had received his last letter some time ago.
With a piece of writing paper tucked into the book she had just read, she took a pen from her bag, squatted at the tea table, and began a letter to Mr. S.
She first apologized to him, saying that she had been busy recently, with little time to write back. Then she inquired about how everything was going with him.
She mentioned the movie he had recommended in his previous letter, that she wanted to see it, especially because of how popular it had become, but unfortunately she hadn't had time yet.
She also told him that her close friend was going to get married and she was going to be her bridesmaid. She wrote about how happy she was for her friend.
And she especially thanked him for the photos of the snow scenery at Changbai Mountain, which he'd taken especially for her. She also mentioned that she had been looking forward to going to Changbai Mountain when she had a chance in the future.
Because New Year's Day had recently passed, she wrote some wishes for him and, with the Spring Festival less than three weeks away, she expressed her concern about any tasks he might be assigned during the festival.
At the end of the letter, recalling the touching words of his, she stopped for a moment before continuing to write.
"Mr. S, I hadn't expected you to be such an affectionate and good man. I believe that you'll be blessed, and you will meet a wonderful girl in the future. You will be deeply in love with each other."
And then Qin Zhi'ai picked up on the joke they'd been passing back and forth in their letters. "Mr. S, I had thought of you as a man of great literary talent. Did you not get perfect scores in the Chinese exams when you were in school?"
Qin Zhi'ai had meant to finish up but, when she raised her head, she glimpsed Gu Yusheng lying on the bed. She gently pursed her lips, lowered her head, and continued to write a few words.
"Mr. S, I met the boy I loved again.
"I suffer for loving him every day. I don't want to care so much about him, but I can't control myself.
"Do you know, Mr. S, if two people aren't equally in love with each other, the one who shows the affection for the other will always feel aggrieved?"
Qin Zhi'ai put down her pen and read her letter carefully from beginning to end. After confirming that it had no mistakes, she picked up the pen again. As soon as she was ready to sign "A," she heard a creak coming from the bed.
She looked sideways at Gu Yusheng, who was awake and struggling to sit up.
Having probably gotten up because he saw her writing something, he asked, "What are you writing about?"
Qin Zhi'ai noticed that his eyes were fixed on the paper in front of her. She knew that he couldn't clearly see the words. And she knew that even if he saw them, he wouldn't know that he was the man she was talking about, but she was still compelled to keep her secret from coming to light. She subconsciously covered the letter with a book, shaking her head and replying, "Nothing."
He said "hmm" in a low voice, looked at the corner of the paper under the book for a while, and then turned away.
She had moved swiftly to cover up the writing on the paper, but Gu Yusheng knew it was a letter.
Does she have a pen pal, like me, and they write to each other?

One day, she slept with him accidentally. Two month later, she found herself pregnant, so they got married with baby.
“Mr. Gu, I like the dishes of this restaurant.” Then the chef of that restaurant was hired as theirs. 
“Mr. Gu, I like the bags of that brand.” Then the designer of that brand was employed exclusively for her. 
She thought of herself as a stranger to him after marriage as she had always been, but in fact he doted on her totally beyond her imagination. He would satisfy all her demands, except letting her find a job. 
She kind of got anxiously bored at home, so she sneaked out to find herself a job. However, whichever company she was hired by would go bankrupt somehow or other. 
Finally, she got to know it had been always him who had done mischief surreptitiously. She went to question him angrily, but he gave her a job with a smirky smile. The next day when she went to take the office with delight, she found her employee ID card on the desk said ‘Name: Qin Zhi’ai, Position: Wife of Gu Yusheng’.

"Do you have any award points that you'd like to redeem today?" 

"No," Juho said, pulling his hat down. At that brief answer, the cashier took the money from the young author's hand with a mechanical movement and put the book into the plastic bag along with the receipt. Even as she placed the bag on the counter, the cashier was looking down.

"Thank you."

"Thank you for shopping with us. I can help the next person," the cashier said, her response remaining just as mechanical. Being the biggest bookstore in the area, that store had an impressive inventory of all recent releases. Walking past a handful of people sitting in the corner of the store, reading, Juho exited the store and waited for the light to turn green. He looked down at the book peeking through the opening of the bag. It was Hyun Do's new book. Titled 'The Full Moon,' its ocean blue cover, which portrayed the moonlit night sky, was quite eye-catching. When Juho put pressure into the hand he was holding the bag with, thinking to himself, 'I'm just gonna keep it for now. I'm not opening it,' the bag's handle crumpled helplessly.

Then, a group of shadows started moving around the young author as a pedestrian stepped forward to jaywalk across the street. Suffice to say, a look of displeasure appeared on the faces of those who had been waiting for the light, most likely thinking, 'That's exactly how you get yourself killed.' Then, about thirty seconds later, the light finally turned green.

"Let's cross now!" a child wearing a kindergarten uniform shouted, holding their mother's hand and confidently raising their hand in order to signal their location to the drivers. The mother had the child's bag over one shoulder. A child, who was still learning, was far more aware of safety rules than adults who had significantly more knowledge, and they abided by them. 

Once the child graduated kindergarten, it would move up to elementary school. Juho imagined what their future would look like. As the child grew older, the idea of raising their hand and signaling the drivers would eventually fade away. Perhaps the child would even jaywalk for the first time in their life. Although there was no way to confirm that in real life, it was already a reality in the young author's new story. Children tended to change as they grew up, and the changing sceneries in the background were proof of how much those children had grown up. 

Upon arriving home, even before he changed out of his clothes, Juho put the bag down, took the new book and placed it on the bookshelf. Although he was adding only one more book to the collection, it felt like the book was taking up a significant amount of space. Then, after staring intently at the title, 'The Full Moon,' the young author looked away, feeling like he'd give in to the temptation to start reading. Only a few paces away, was the manuscript that he had been working on up to moments before he had stepped out of the house. 

There had been cases when children, who acted their ages in front of their parents at home, became leading figures. A conversation between the children, who had just started learning about the world, and an old lady, who was still learning about the world, would be, simply put, unpredictable. 

As children criticized adults for their stupidity, adults questioned the environment their children were growing up in. Then, those children eventually grew up to become adults. Despite looking nothing like they once did, adult and child became the same person. 

After washing up, Juho walked back to his room and sat at the desk to resume writing, reexamining the overall story and the events that took place within it. Reading through the entire story rekindled the feeling with which the young author had been writing, and writing in an emotional state as close to that as possible was the only way to make the story flow. If he were to write while depressed one day, but write again in high spirits the next day, there were bound to be inconsistencies.

"Not too serious." 

Juho had been telling himself that throughout the entire writing process of that particular story. Although both the adult and the child were wrong, Juho wanted neither their portrayal nor the process to carry a serious tone. He wanted to write a story that could be read quickly but with a sense of anticipation. When he looked up from the manuscript, he realized that it had already gotten dark out.

"I better take a break," Juho said, stretching both of his hands toward the ceiling, stretching his body that had become stiff after sitting for too long. Suffice to say, the stretch was turning out to be quite painful. Then, as he felt somewhat hungry and started thinking about what to eat, the full moon lighting the sky came into view. 

"I really wanna read it." 

After some contemplation, Juho picked up his phone, which he left on his bed, and called Seo Kwang. Although it was well into the night, it wasn't long before he answered the phone. 

"Did you read it?" he asked out of nowhere, catching the young author off guard.

"Sure. I've spend most of my life reading," Juho said in a higher-than-usual voice, confused.

"... I'm talking about 'The Full Moon,' doofus." 

"Ah," the young author let out, his voice sinking low.

"I have," Seo Kwang said confidently, yet calmly. Then, he asked the young author, "Have you?"

It was a question that Juho didn't really feel like answering. Then, with a swallowed sigh, the young author said, "I haven't." 

"Oh, no," Seo Kwang said as if pitying his author friend. 

"... How was it?" 

"It. Was. Insane," Seo Kwang said, as if he had been waiting for Juho to ask. "It's my favorite Hyun Do Lim book by far." 

It was a similar response to Yun Seo's. Perhaps, it was just the default response of those who'd read the book.

"For your sake, I won't spoil it." 

"Thanks." 

"OK. Let me share my thoughts on the book. It caught two birds with one stone," Seo Kwang said genuinely. From then on, he raved on about the book, from how reading the book came with a painful reminder that the more he read, the less there was left to be read, to the fast pace, the author's philosophy and criticism, the characters and their personalities, and the author's unique ability to write about such a twisted subject in a clean, polished manner. Then, as if remembering the content of the book all over again, he started talking even faster. Seo Kwang tended to be predictable like that.

"Not only is it appealing to the masses, but it's also very artistic. There's no way this book won't make it." 

It was the voice of a reader who had been deeply moved by a book. At that, Juho thought of the synopsis in the back of the book.

"The protagonist predicts death on a full moon," Juho said. This time, it seemed like Hyun Do had written about death, which he had never done before.

"Right. Death," Seo Kwang said, his voice growing softer. Then, as it returned to its normal volume, he added, "It seemed like Hyun Do Lim really emphasized the aspect of death in this book. If I were to compare it to 'River…' Hm, how should I put it?" he said, groaning as if in pain. 

"So, if you were to compare it to 'River?'" Juho asked quietly, rushing his friend for an answer. It had caught his interest. Juho had become curious about the end portrayed by the literary great.

"I can't say anything in terms of black and white, but I'd say they are different, yet similar somehow. From a reader's standpoint, I think they both carry about a similar shock value."

"Similar shock value?!" 

Death had always been somewhat of a specialty of the young author because of his firsthand experience of having died once. Yet, Hyun Do's piece carried a similar shock value. Juho was well aware of Hyun Do's skills. That made his heart beat faster.

"I really wanna read it now." 

The urge was starting to get out of hand. Although he had read Hyun Do's books as a homeless man who couldn't even afford to eat, he couldn't read the book at present, when he had more than enough money to buy hundreds of books. It was ironic, yet funny.

"I read it," Seo Kwang said provokingly, finding the situation all too amusing. He was ecstatic. The emotional experience the book gave him was still fresh in his heart, and looking at the full moon in the night sky only accentuated the experience. Hyun Do Lim was an incredible author, and Seo Kwang found himself getting intoxicated by the emotions that the novel carried. The moon was noticeably brighter than usual that night. Then, after listening to his friend for a little while, Juho said in a serious tone, "Maybe I should just read it." 

At that, Seo Kwang attitude changed at once. 

"What?" 

There was nothing more unfortunate than being in a situation that kept one from reading books. Which, in Juho's case, the unfortunate situation was that he was in the middle of writing, and needless to say, it was not a welcoming situation by any means. Although he thought reading wouldn't be a bad solution to his predicament, the young author had to come to terms with his conscience and recognized that it was merely his desire speaking.

"Do you think you'll be OK? This book is seriously a game changer," Seo Kwang warned him, and added, "I joined the Astronomy Club after reading that book." The book had had a significant impact on the reader. "You know what, I know that you're gonna do whatever you want at the end of the day, and I'm not gonna tell you not to read it. Besides, a book like this needs to be read by more people."

After hanging up, Juho looked up at the moon for a little while and immersed himself in deep thought. 'Should I read it? Or should I not?' Then, walking toward the bookshelf, he picked up the book, which was solid and smooth to the touch. After brushing his hand down the book once, the young author placed it back on the shelf.

"After I finish writing." 

Sitting at the desk, Juho picked up a pen. However, it wasn't long before he found himself standing in front of the bookshelf again.

"I'm gonna do it." 

With the book in his hand, the young author went out to the living room, sat on the sofa, took a deep breath and opened the cover. A photo of Hyun Do and his distinctive hair, which only half of had turned white, came into view. At that, the young author was reminded of a certain fan who had complimented him on his looks. However, the word handsome suited the gentleman in the photo a lot better. As he turned the front wing, the front cover, and the front page, the table of contents appeared. And soon, the very first sentence of the first chapter marked the beginning of the story. Feeling more excited than ever, Juho clasped the book tightly by the back cover. As the young author flipped through the pages, the house grew darker.

"Anybody home?" somebody asked, banging on the door and ringing the doorbell repeatedly. 

As Juho remained in his seat, the door rattled, and the person walked away. The house sank into silence yet again. Juho turned yet another page, which was the last page of the book. The protagonist predicted death on a full moon, and in the end, he fails to escape the grasp of that dreaded moon. The full moon signified greed, envy, an absolute being, and power. The author's portrayal of vertical power was quite powerful, enough to crush and overwhelm the world. Finally, the young author closed the book, feeling an intense burning sensation on his eyes, as if he had looked directly at the Sun.

He couldn't move his head. It felt like all of the events that had taken place within the book were coming alive, filling every corner of the house. Juho had connected with the book almost instantly. No matter how far the protagonist ran, the moon kept following him. It was almost as if he was making a fool of himself by trying to outrun the moon. Then, covering his face with his hand, Juho knew that he wasn't going to get any writing done that day. 

At that moment, a vibration came from the room. It was a phone call. However, Juho stayed put, and soon, the vibration stopped. It almost sounded as if it was asking the young author for his thoughts on the book. 'How was it? How was Hyun Do's portrayal of death?' 

As Juho took his hand off his face, his hair covered his eyes in place of his hand. A shadow was cast in the living room, and Juho reminisced to the conversation he had had with Hyun Do, who had told him that he asked questions when he didn't have the answer. For example, to a homeless man, 'Is this offensive to you?' At that moment, finding himself answering the question without even realizing it, it dawned on Juho just how amazing of an author Hyun Do was.

"I'm glad I read it," he murmured in a cracked voice in order to keep regret from creeping into his mind. If he had sat down and forced himself to write, wearing a naive look on his face, suppressing his urge to read, Juho would have been clueless. He was glad that he had given into his urge. 

"I guess I lost." 

In reality, he was excited. He had met with the certain reader he had been looking forward to meeting. Then, he had caught up with his fellow authors. Prior to either of those events, he had even met the celebrity interviewer for an interview, which had aired on TV. Through the interviewer, the young author had learned how he was coming across to his fans. A humbling realization had occurred to him that he had been content and satisfied when, in truth, he still had a ways to go as an author. 

Then, came the rain. Although invisible to naked eyes, it soaked every inch of the young author's clothes. What felt like a heavy sigh came out of his mouth. Despite feeling his clothes getting wet, the young author closed his eyes without moving a muscle.

"Juho Woo!" 

Juho opened his eyes at the voice calling to him from the distance. His living room appeared before his eyes. As he struggled to keep his eyes open, he realized that he had fallen asleep sitting on his couch. At that moment, a series of banging noise came from the door, followed by a series of doorbell rings. Only then, did it occur to him who might be outside of the door.

"Coming!" Juho said, walking toward the door as he tried to wake himself up. When he opened the door, he saw his editor-in-charge, who looked at him with surprise.

"Are you OK?" Nam Kyung asked.

"What do you mean?" 

"Do you realize that you have some serious dark circles underneath your eyes?" 

Then, as Juho stepped aside yawning, the editor came into the house. Taken aback by the jarring state of the living room, he asked, "What in the world is all this!?" 

Being careful not to step on the sheets of manuscript paper scattered throughout the floor, Nam Kyung walked across the living room.

"For a second, I thought you'd just moved in." 

The table was also filled with stacks of manuscript paper, which had toppled over and made a mess. It was an intimidating amount. Then, as Nam Kyung closed the window, which Juho had kept open for ventilation, Juho looked around the living room. It was the result of not picking up the pages immediately after they had fallen. Nevertheless, the mess was proof that the young author had been busy at work.

After reading 'The Full Moon,' Juho had remained in a dazed state for a while. A wave of emotions flooded into his heart. He felt mortified and humiliated all at the same time, boiling with the ambition to be able to write like Hyun Do. Then, looking up to confirm that the sky and the ground were both in their rightful places, the young author reminded himself that he would never stumble again, rising from his seat and going straight to his room, writing frantically until he felt numb and out of it. Fortunately, he was able to pick up where he had left off for the most part. However, there was one critical issue.

"Still strugglin'?" Nam Kyung asked in a slightly low voice.

"Struggling? Do you see how much I've written?" Juho said, playing coy. At that, a smile appeared on the editor's face. 

"Except it's not the manuscript I've been waiting for." 

Then, the young author looked toward the editor. The story about the old lady wasn't making nearly as much progress as it should. 

"Maybe I should join an astronomy club, too." 

"What the heck are you talking about?" Nam Kyung said, glaring fiercely at the young author.

Yum Woo is the youngest author in history to enter the literature world. His debut work was a massive hit but this success was short lived for the unprepared.

A miraculous second chance comes his way one day.
