A telling of two stories: one, of simpler times; the other, of an adventure in the night.

The story that I am about to tell is true for I have lived a different life in another world and when I passed; I was returned home. Nothing had changed and no one had noticed that I was gone, but the memories were clear as day and I decided to record my story in a memoir. 

I've always wanted to be a writer but I always had trouble finishing writing a story or finding any inspiration or even have a clear idea on what to write. But what had happened to me may have been a dream or a very strong imagination; the memories remained and it's a story that I wish to tell. 

I guess I will call this work a fairy tale, a work of fiction and fantasy. I felt like Alice going down the rabbit hole but instead of Wonderland; I end up in a place like Narnia meets Westros. 

Instead of normal chapters I will be writing this memoir in episodes almost like a TV series but from my point of view. I have a habit of being detailed, it might be boring, but it's the way I write. 

I hope my memoir tells my story well for this is a door to another world...

Tomcat didn't know how to use shovels to collect water. Many uses for shovels flashed through its mind.
Fighting.
Cleaving.
Digging a hole.
Shoveling.
And cooking an egg.
Combine them together, the shovel's usage was likely—fight with Tang Yue, cleave him dead, dig a hole to bury him, and then cook an egg with the shovel over his grave.
But what did this have to do with collecting water?
As Tomcat was in thought, Tang Yue had begun forming a circle with the shovel. He looked down at his feet while circling the Eagle. As he circled, he used his feet to test the sand beneath. He looked like he really was finding a spot to dig a hole.
Tang Yue walked about six meters away and stuck the shovel into the land before turning around to shout for Tomcat, "Tomcat, over here. Come over here!" 
Basalt was too hard, making it impossible to dig through it with shovels. Tang Yue had found a spot where there weren't any large rocks beneath them. This region's upper layer comprised of gravel, and the bottom layer was a mixture of fine sand. Tang Yue had stabbed the shovel in, and after confirming that it was digable with human strength, he called for Tomcat to help him in his hole-digging endeavor.
"How big do you want the hole to be?" Tomcat held the shovel and stood to the side. It wasn't much taller than the shovel.
Tang Yue looked down, spread his palm and gestured. Then, he drew a circle on the sand with the shovel. "Hmm… Let's dig a hole with a diameter of a meter, and half a meter deep."
Tomcat glanced at him and said, "Return first. Don't waste the oxygen and power of the Radiant Armor. I'll do the digging."
"No." Tang Yue categorically objected to it out of fairness. He picked up the shovel and said, "We can dig together. This will be faster!"
Ten minutes later.
"If you plan to continue using the shovel like a soup spoon, I suggest you return now."

Tang Yue returned to Kunlun Station.
"Tang Yue, why are you back?" Mai Dong asked. "Where's Mr. Cat?"
Tang Yue closed the airlock's hatch, took off the life support system, and got out of the Radiant Armor.
"Tomcat is outside digging a hole. It said I don't know how to use a shovel, and that I use it like a soup spoon. I was then chased back… But can't it spare a thought for me? I was in the Radiant Armor; I couldn't even bend down, so how could I be as agile as it?" Tang Yue curled his lips.
"Dig a hole?" The girl was intrigued. "What for?"
"I plan to dig us a grave," Tang Yue said. "I'll just lie down there when I can no longer live on…"
Mai Dong's expression instantly changed.
Tang Yue knew that his joke had gone wrong.
"It's to collect fresh water," he hurriedly explained. "The goal of digging a hole is to collect fresh water. As we need water for planting tomatoes and carrots, and we don't have enough water… we were planning on using the reaction of the propellant from the Eagle's Descent Vehicle to obtain water. However, the reaction produces steam. We need to be able to collect that."
Mai Dong heaved a sigh of relief.
Her greatest fear was that the man and cat on Kunlun Station would suffer any mishap.
"Have you finished today's work?" Tang Yue asked. "How's the space station?"
Mai Dong nodded. "I just did my rounds. I discovered that an inner insulation lining in a module had fallen off. I used tape to paste it back. The other modules are fine… But the Dawn remains a problem. I still haven't found the crack in the module's body.
Three months ago, during the resupply mission, the Eagle spacecraft had collided with the United Space Station. This dealt the Dawn module severe damage, and a fissure had opened up in the outer wall. Back then, Tomcat had sealed the hatches in time, cutting the flow of air and power supply. This prevented the entire space station from losing pressure. However, Mai Dong alone couldn't inspect the damaged Dawn module.
During the last three months, Mai Dong had attempted entering the Dawn module under Tomcat's guidance.
She donned an IVA suit and a life support system before closing the other hatch in the Crystal module to stop any airflow between the Crystal and the other modules before opening the Dawn module.
The instant the Crystal and Dawn modules connected, air began to leak.
The Dawn module, which had remained silent for two months, was pitch-black. It was in a completely cold, vacuum state. After Mai Dong entered, she closed the hatch behind her and attempted to search for the fissure.
The fissure wasn't easy to find. It was on the outer wall of the space station, and Mai Dong was unable to directly see it. The module's walls had a thick inner lining, and experiment boxes and control panels were blocking the way. To mend the fissure, she needed to find its exact location, before dismantling the apparatus and inner lining. The difficulty involved was immense, and the workload was great. It was impossible for Mai Dong to finish it alone… After she searched the Dawn module for two hours, Tomcat called it off.
Mai Dong had once suggested mending the space station from the outside, but considering the difficulty and danger levels, Tomcat gave up the idea.
Now, the United Space Station had completely abandoned the Dawn module. Thankfully, this module didn't affect the space station's normal operations—its original purpose was deep-space observation and high-energy physics research. This wasn't something Mai Dong needed at all.
"Tang Yue… Over the past few days, I've been thinking. If Earth has really disappeared, as the last two humans in the Universe, shouldn't we do something?" Mai Dong asked. "For example, we can make a record, to leave some signs of human civilization."
"Make a record?"
Mai Dong nodded.
"Are you thinking of writing a memoir? A memoir for all of human civilization?"
Mai Dong nodded in response.
"We should leave something behind; otherwise, when we aren't around any longer, what is there to prove that Earth and humanity once existed?"
Tang Yue thought this a great idea. A memoir that talked about humanity, one that reviewed the developmental process of human civilization, a conclusion for all of humanity. Although this was the work of God and he probably lacked the standards and qualifications, there wasn't anyone who could accomplish this apart from them.
Finally, they could come up with a lofty-sounding name, such as "Earth Chronicles."
This was the evidence that human civilization had once existed.
It was to make the Universe remember humanity.
That we once existed.
Regardless of the endpoint, we worked hard to survive.
"But my history isn't that great…" Tang Yue scratched his head. As a guy with a STEM background, he had some idea of Chinese history, but he knew nothing about ancient Egypt.
Without a doubt, chronicling human civilization was a massive endeavor. It was impossible with just Mai Dong and Tang Yue alone. They could only do as much as they could.
"We can ask Mr. Cat things we don't know," Mai Dong reminded. "Mr. Cat will definitely know it."
"That's right. We can ask him." Tang Yue turned to look out the window. Beneath the Eagle was a tiny white cat shoveling, working hard at digging a hole.
Tomcat threw the shovel to the ground and crawled out of the pit.
"Tang Yue—! The hole is done!"


Payload specialist, Tang Yue, who is a mechanical and electrical engineer by training, is left stranded on Mars when he receives news from his AI robot assistant, Tomcat, that Earth has exploded. He believes himself to be the last human in the Universe.
Turns out, he is only the last man in the Universe. Botanist, Mai Dong, had been left on the United Space Station (USS) orbiting Mars, to await Tang Yue's ascent to the USS before they make their journey back to Earth. But now, it's impossible.

My Mom died when she was 61, in her lone house on the seaside. Hindi kami pumayag siyempre na manirahan siya nang mag-isa rito, pero nang nakita namin siyang masaya, nagsusulat at nakangiti habang pinapanood ang dagat, hinayaan na lang namin, basta't kasama niya 'yong maid na matagal na naming pinagkakatiwalaan.

Bago siya namatay, mayro'n siyang binilin sa 'kin.

She was holding my hand tight, or at least she was trying to, while her eyes are closed.

"I love you. I love all of you, and your father. I'm happy... to have spent my life with all of you," she said in her raspy breath. Takot akong hawakan siya nang mas mahigpit pa dahil parang mababasag siya sa hawak ko. "In my burial, if you saw a man as old as me, with a black shirt... or any clothes that is black, with a guitar, hand him my diary."

Her weak finger pointed at the diary she'd been writing at this past year. Kulay itim 'to at leather – wala nang ibang design.

I was teary-eyed. I held her cold hand.

"Who is he, Ma?"

She tried to smile.

"He's very, very, very special to me, anak," she said.

And I knew her diary was important.

That day, it was cloudy. Ma-e-enjoy ko sana 'yong panahon kung hindi lang ako nagluluksa. Nakapalibot ang mga taong nakaitim at puti sa espasyong nakalaan kung saan nakalibing si Mama. Maririnig ang mahihinang pag-iyak.

Natawa ako nang kaunti. How the hell can I look for the 'man' wearing black when there are few ones wearing one?

I tried to look further. 

Then I saw him.

He wore black, like others did, but he stood out with the guitar slung behind him. He was old, wrinkly, and with sagging skin. He was standing meters away from Mama, holding a white handkerchief. Black sunglasses covered his eyes, but his cheeks were wet. Alam kong umiyak siya.

Umiiyak pa rin ako, pero nilapitan ko siya. Hawak ko 'yung diary na tinutukoy ni Mama bago siya nawala.

He was surprised upon seeing me, but acknowledged my presence by nodding slightly. I nodded too.

"I'm Maurice's daughter."

"I know," sabi niya. When he smiled, I knew he was handsome on his younger years. "You look... so much like her."

Ngumiti ako. Past lover. Mama's past lover. He was, I'm sure, Sean, 'yung lalaking nasa diary ni Mama.

"Before she died, she said you're very, very, special for her," I started. He flinched, and pulled in deep breaths. "At gusto niyang... ibigay ko sa 'yo 'to."

I reached out my hand holding the diary. Nag-alangan pa siyang kuhanin 'yon, kaya nang lumapat ang mga daliri niya sa notebook, napangiti ako.

Kinuha niya 'yon saka tiningnan.

"She really loved writing, didn't she?"

By his voice, I know he's sad. Halata ring nanghihinayang siya sa mga oras na hindi sila nagsama. Seeing him, and remembering Mama, I know they're star-crossed lovers, and I'm sure they're meant to meet in the next life, if that exist, in another universe. Perhaps in another timeline when everything is perfect. When their stars aligned.

"She loved you, too," I said.

He looked up to me, and chuckled. Nilagay niya 'yung notebook sa tapat ng dibdib niya.

"I've loved her all my life," he said, and bowed his head to me. Then he whispered, "and maybe I forever will."

It is, I think, wondrous, that all these things I write down on this diary came from my vague memories. Remembering all them is like seeing a blurry tape, all unclear but his eyes - just his eyes. Until now, even years after, I can still feel the electricity I felt back then under those gazes. It was just beautiful. And although my memory of the scenes I had with him are hazy, faint pictures, at least I know that what I feel - and what I'll forever feel, stays the same. Stays unscathed. Still as clear as always.

The Kid wonder lawyer knew the judge is a a close pal of SAN Terror and that this case was brought specially before him so That SAN Terror will be given unfair advantage over him, and he came prepared to turn the apple cart and cause uproar that its effect will not die in the city for a long time, especially now that they are moving into the city's election year.
    He turned to the judge and said I do not wish to start this defence cross examining my client, can I please call on her perceived victim? The judge said, "Call him but do quickly because of time" Richie was wheeled to the witness stand and placed on oath and the cross examination started. One thing that the kid wonder lawyer is thanking God for is that Richie's tongue was not affected by the paralysis, he can talk clearly. 
    So he faced him and asked, "I learnt that you used to have a memoir, can you recognised it if you see it? Richie was shocked because he did not know that Tolu took the memoir with her, and before he would answer he tried to turn to look for help from SAN Terror to silence this route of questioning but his paralytic body betrayed him and the judge compelled him to answer, but before he would answered the women who remembered what was read in the morning from his memoir began to murmur knowing he did not want more part of that memoir read. 
     since the judge compelled him to answer he said yes, and the kid wonder lawyer gave the memoir to him to verify if it is his own, he verified that it is. Then the kid wonder lawyer opened to a page and said my Lord I want to read  two places from this memoir so that you will see that this memoir that the prosecuting lawyer had called harmless all morning is a bomb that no lady in her right since will see and not run for her dear life. 
The judge said he should go on, so he turned to the page and read, " Today tenth of May I proved again that with a little charm any woman on earth can become a toy in a man's hand, with a wink of my eyes I moved the the simpleton away from her husband, and right there on their matrimonial bed I had her with her husband attending to guests in their garden. And what a secret she revealed in her bid to keep my service, no one will know that as handsome as our mayor is he is nothing but a paper horse that can't serviced his beautiful wife!
     The court exploded when they heard that he wrote this about the Mayor and his wife, more so this was read to face slap the Mayor who was sitting with his wife in this hearing! The Mayor stood up in shock but his wife could not, she slumped in guilt and it showed clearly by her action to all the people watching her that Richie had her. The noise this time was deafening that the judge was forced to put the court on recess! He asked both SAN Terror and The kid wonder lawyer to meet him in his office. He knew that this young lawyer is doing this on purpose and he is out to cause trouble in the land. As they moved into the office he was thinking of what he can do to stop this kid, but he remembered he is having the backing of Sir Boripe, the richest man in the nation and a childhood bosom friend of the President of the nation and also a class mate of the present chief judge of the whole nation, with this knowledge he knew he must be cautious in the way he will handle this young lawyer. He was also of the opinion that SAN Terror should have objected when he wanted to read that memoir and he would have stopped him. SAN Terror on his own too knew if he tried to stop him from reading from that memoir the public opinion will be raised against his case and he may loose the emotional sentiment that he has gained. More so he did not envisage that such a thing can be in the memoir and that this evil baby lawyer will dare to read it out.
     Now he knew this boy is a very dangerous guy that must be handled carefully, while he is thinking about this his mind strayed back to the Mayor his friend and his wife and he wondered how the two of them will manage this crisis that hit them like a bomb in the midst of this tongues wagging crowd.?
      When they got into the office, the judge went straight for a glass of water to cool the tension that has risen in his blood stream, then he sat down and faced the kid wonder lawyer and asked, "Just what were you up to in there my friend?" SAN Terror too said, "Yes what were you up to reading such a thing in the public?"
    Calmly the kid wonder lawyer said am setting up my defence and am free to use every fact available to defend my client. SAN Terror answered him and said I don't know what you want to gain with what you have done but let me assure you that you've bite more that you can chew by coming against the Mayor in the public. The kid wonder lawyer said let that be my headache sir, did I not warned that we should let the sleeping dog lie?
     The judge asked, "When we go back inside there are you still going to continue in that line of questioning?" The kid wonder lawyer said I have not even started sir and it will be difficult to  abandon that line of cross examination because it can injure my case. SAN Terror shouted, "You have no case to prove in here my friend" The kid wonder lawyer asked, "Says whom? As long as Tolu is standing trial I have a case to prove, however i may not have a case to prove if you withdraw this case against my client" SAN Terror shouted, "You will not dictate to us, we have paid our dues and we are the ones who made law lucrative for you rookies to be drawn by its lure, when I say you have nothing to prove it means you have nothing to prove, this is my territory I ruled here"
     "Sir, you are not the judge and I cannot see how you can rule here, I will only bow to your wish if we get back inside and I see you sitting on the bench, if that do not happen we are both here to prove a case let us face it"
     When the judge saw that he could not be intimidated he spoke softly and said, "Look you are like a son to me, I will advise you not to go down the lane that you are going, you will destroy many people and you too can get destroy in the process, please when you get inside change your direction of cross examinations" The kid wonder lawyer said, "Okay sir and thanks for your advice and he left leaving SAN Terror and the judge to ponder on how to do damaged control.
    However, by the time the hearing resumed the Mayor and his wife were no more around in the court, the Mayor left fuming while his wife that he left behind left through the back door with head bowed in shame!
    The kid wonder lawyer resumed his defence saying, " I said it the other time that this memoir in my hand is a bomb that can blow the city apart but I did not explained why I said so. The reason for my summation are the names of many eminent ladies and wives of eminent men that I see in this memoir, if this court can react the way they react by just hearing a little in many sordid stunts that this man has pulled, how do you think a young lady like my client will react, you can judge for yourself. I will hand over this memoir to this court as an evidence that exonerate my client from been called a devil, but the real reason for her action I will lay bare before this court if this court have the time to continue the hearing today.

    The judge said, "Definitely the time is not on our side again today, submit that memoir as you said and we will adjourn till next Tuesday. The kid wonder lawyer gave the memoir to the judge knowing that the memoir will kill Richie's stand in this case, because his wife and that of SAN Terror too patronised Richie's bedroom. 
    Richie practically dated all the wives of the eminent men he worked for and he used them to gain favour with their husbands, and most of this men were the Mayor' political allies and promoters; this means there will be a shaking in their political camp as the year of the election is drawing in.

He was in the deep gutter of jungle justice, in a matter of minutes he'll loose his life for crime he did not commit; and from the blues she stepped out to expose the real criminal and saved him.
Though nothing could match what she has done, but to show gratitude he helped her to secure a job where he worked and this caused a rift between him and his girl friend who was a born with silver in the mouth neighbour of his saviour.
With this girl friend annoying needless tantrums, he dumped her and decided to focus on the saviour, but she refused for a long time until he cleared off her chief reason for saying no through a special arrangement, and they started a sexless relationship which he  really did not like.
After a while in their cat and mouse sexless engagement, the criminal that she exposed to save him showed up with acid plastic and ruined her beauty.
With her beauty ruined he lost interest in her and dumped her for her traitorous friend. This set them up for a long journey of deadly vengeance. This book is a book for the strong hearted who can have food on the table and be glued to printed page that cant be put down to be read later!

"Are there any more matters you would like to discuss with me, Your Majesty?" Xuan Yueji asked as he wore a dishonest smile on his face.
As he scoffed, Lin Tengfei said, "You should never smile. Every time you smile, it is as though you are staring at your enemy."
"Is that so?" Xuan Yueji asked, his brow raised as though to show interest when he was truly not interested.
Sighing, Lin Tengfei stated, "The only person I have really wanted to slap in my life was my eldest son, now it's you."
"Oh, that really makes me proud," Xuan Yueji responded, continuing to wear a casual smile on his face. "Your Majesty, you should be happy that I'm smiling at you. I never smile at others."
"If you never smile, then don't," Lin Tengfei retorted. "Don't you know that it's creepy when someone who doesn't normally smile starts to smile? It's creepier than my fourth child's smile…"
Continuing to smile, Xuan Yueji said, "I've never the fourth prince, so I must apologize. I don't know how creepy his smile is."
Hearing this, Ling Tengfei sighed, "Fine, whatever. Let's get back to business."
"I quite agree with this statement," Xuan Yueji replied.
At the words from Xuan Yueji, Lin Tengfei could only stare at him in an effortful attempt to not want to choke him to death with his own hands.
"Have you heard about the case I have given to the crowned prince?" Lin Tengfei asked, full of seriousness.
"No," Xuan Yueji honestly answered.
The mere fact that he answered so straightforwardly with no guilt in his words made Lin Tengfei want to explode from anger, but he could only gulp it down.
As Lin Tengfei tried to stay calm, he constantly chanted in his head, 'Must not choke. Must not choke. Must not choke.'
Going to his desk, Lin Tengfei grabbed a memoir and gave it to Xuan Yueji while saying, "This case has recently been handed to the crowned prince."
Receiving the memoir, Xuan Yueji read the information written on it. Whilst he was reading the memoir though, he noticed something strange.
"Your Majesty, who handed this memoir to you?" Xuan Yueji questioned, for once seriousness being shown on his face.
Seeing that the usual ignorant Xuan Yueji was finally serious, Lin Tengfei also became extremely serious himself and answered, "It's too hard to remember who handed the memoir. I receive hundreds, even thousands every day."
"Though the fact that this memoir has reached you would mean that it is important, am I right?" Xuan Yueji asked.
"Whether they are important or not, they are all given to me," Lin Tengfei sighed tiredly. "Half of the memoirs given to me every day are even about the domestic affairs of noble families. Asking me to allow them to divorce due to so and so reason and whatnot or even telling me to announce the divorce of so and so family because they were being so and so."
Frowning, Xuan Yueji stated straightforwardly, "Your Majesty, do you know what this memoir says when you only read the first, third, and fifth characters?"
Having never read the memoir from such a viewpoint before, Lin Tengfei grabbed the memoir and read it accordingly to what Xuan Yueji said. 
Indeed, there was something that was out of the normal.
One by one, Lin Tengfei read the characters, "Re...member...me…?"
"Your Majesty, is there anyone in the palace that would know who gave which memoir to you?" Xuan Yueji asked once again.
"Eunuch Dai would know," Lin Tengfei answered. "Though he has given most tasks to Eunuch Hai, he still handles the memoirs."
"Alright, please call him over," Xuan Yueji acknowledged.
In a not too loud voice, Lin Tengfei called out, "Eunuch Hai, tell Eunuch Dai that this emperor has something important to discuss with."
Bowing in a subservient manner, Eunuch Hai immediately left to finish the task given to him. When he returned, a man with gray hair and slouching as he walked with a cane followed behind.
The elderly man then stood right behind the imperial door and announced himself, "Your Majesty, you have announced for me?"
With a light voice, Lin Tengfei replied, "Come in, Eunuch Dai."
Coming in as ordered by Lin Tengfei, Eunuch Dai asked, "What matters does Your Majesty need help with?"
"Eunuch Dai, come," Lin Tengfei gestured to the memoir. "Do you remember who submitted this memoir to us?"
"Ah, this memoir was submitted by the patriarch of the Wu family," Eunuch Dai answered while brushing his long gray beard as though remembering something.
"The Wu family?" Lin Tengfei questioned, feeling that there seemed to be a mention of the Wu family not too long ago in the court meetings.
"Your Majesty, do you not remember that just before the Wu family was ordered for arrest, they disappeared?" Eunuch Dai asked, seeing as Lin Tengfei did not seem to remember the event at all.
"This emperor seems to have forgotten," Lin Tengfei admitted fault.
"Your Majesty is a busy man," Eunuch Dai said, trying to say that the emperor was not at fault. "There are thousands of reports to be read and millions of complaints to be heard."
Hearing those words, Lin Tengfei gave a laugh of self-pity. The words that Eunuch Dai spoke was not a lie. There were indeed thousands of reports to be read and millions of complaints to be heard.
However, there was no time to have fun with his family and no time to be sweet with his wife. Indeed, he did not refer to the empress as the "empress", but would rather refer to her as his "wife." In this way, they would not need to bend to the rules and laws of the imperial family all the time as they tried to live as the commoners did.
"Were there any rumors or information about the Wu family recently?" Lin Tengfei asked.
"There are no rumors relating to the immediate family, however, there are rumors speaking of the people under the family," Eunuch Dai answered.
"Under the family?" Lin Tengfei pointed out in a question as his brows furrowed.
"It has been passed around for quite a while that any person or family that has worked with the with or under the Wu family has disappeared in just the same way as the immediate family," Eunuch Dai explained. "Your Majesty, I'm afraid that there might be a coup de tat occurring at this very moment while we are speaking."
In the moments that the two were speaking, Xuan Yueji was merely standing at the side, listening. Now that there was an abundance of information, he no longer needed to listen, so he interrupted.
"There is no coup de tat," Xuan Yueji countered as he walked up to Lin Tengfei. "Even if the Wu family managed to make hundreds of thousands of gold or planned ten years early on, they would still be unable to rebel."
"Why is that so?" Eunuch Dai asked. "Please educate this old servant."
"Because there is no real loyalty in the family," Xuan Yueji answered.
"Loyalty?" Eunuch Dai questioned.
"Eunuch Dai, would you be willing to die for His Majesty if you were not loyal to him? Not committed to him?" Xuan Yueji asked, his face showing that even if the eunuch did not answer, he would still know the answer.
