Seven years after rescuing Jame Gumb's last victim, Clarice Starling witnesses her career crumble around her. A drug raid goes wrong and Starling kills an armed meth dealer in self-defense: the dealer was carrying her own baby while shooting at Starling. Hannibal Lecter, who has been living in Florence, Italy, under an assumed name since escaping custody, sends her a letter of condolence and requests more information about her personal life. Desperate to catch Lecter, the FBI finds a use for Starling once again. She meets with Barney Matthews, former orderly of Baltimore State Hospital for the Criminally Insane. He tells her what Lecter said about her and that he said he would never go after her if he escaped.

Meanwhile, Mason Verger, a wealthy, sadistic pedophile who was left horribly disfigured after a "therapy session" with Lecter, plans to get revenge by feeding Lecter to wild boars, using Starling as bait. He is aided by corrupt Justice Department agent Paul Krendler, Starling's nemesis.

A disgraced Florentine detective, Rinaldo Pazzi, also pursues Lecter in the interests of collecting Verger's bounty on him. However, Lecter kills one of Pazzi's men and hangs Pazzi where his ancestor, Francesco de Pazzi, was hanged in 1478. Lecter waves at a camera, the footage of which is later seen by Verger. Lecter kills one of Verger's men and escapes to the United States, where he begins pursuing Starling.

The novel briefly touches upon Lecter's childhood, specifically the death of his beloved younger sister, Mischa. The two were orphaned during World War II, and a group of German deserters found them on their family estate and took them prisoner. The Germans, after checking the limbs of both siblings, had taken Mischa away. Lecter later found some of Mischa's milk teeth in a stool pit used by the deserters, indicating to young Hannibal that they had killed and eaten his sister.

Barney briefly works for Verger, and gets acquainted with Verger's sister and bodyguard Margot, a lesbian bodybuilder whom Verger molested and raped as a child. Their friendship is briefly strained when he makes a pass at her, but they eventually reconcile, and Margot tells him that she stays in her hated brother's employment because she needs Mason's sperm to have a child with her partner, Judy.

Lecter is captured by Verger's men, and Starling pursues them, determined to bring Lecter in herself. One of Verger's men shoots her full of tranquilizer as she releases Lecter. The wild boars break through the barricade separating them from Lecter, but they lose interest in their intended prey when they smell no fear on him, instead going after Verger's men. In the confusion, Lecter carries the unconscious Starling to safety, and escapes with her. At the same time, Margot forcibly obtains Mason's sperm by sodomizing him with a cattle prod, and then kills him by shoving his pet Moray eel down his throat. Lecter, who had briefly treated Margot after her brother abused her, has urged her to blame the murder on him, which she does by leaving one of his hairs at the scene.

Using a regimen of psychotropic drugs and behavioral therapy, Lecter attempts to brainwash Starling, hoping to make her believe she is Mischa, returned to life. She ultimately proves too strong, however, and tells him that Mischa will have to live on within him. Lecter captures Krendler and lobotomizes him, and then he and Starling dine on Krendler's prefrontal cortex, sauteed with shallots, before Lecter kills him. The two then become lovers, and disappear together.

Three years later, Barney and his girlfriend go to Buenos Aires to see a Vermeer painting. At the opera, Barney spots Lecter and Starling; fearing for his life, he flees with his girlfriend.

I suppose that I had a good life. It wasn't particularly long, given that I had yet to drag myself through applying to college, but getting hit by a speeding vehicle while waiting for the bus was just a sad way to die.

Not that anyone here would know anything about that, my former existence and my former death, that is. I've always been Hana to them.

If anyone had mentioned that I wasn't Hana, my mother would throw her head back and screech with laughter before baring her teeth at them. "Whaddya mean she's not Hana? I gave birth to her."

And my little brother would probably punch them in the face. "No one talks shit about Hana-nee-san."

And I? I would have to bury my head in my hands and think about how they'd never know the actual Hana, who was probably much more like them in terms of personality.

But we were a family, Mom, Kiba, and me.

I had died on a dark and cloudy winter morning with my headphones in and a far too heavy backpack, standing too close to the edge of the driveway again. If I think about it for too long, I'd acknowledge that I had quite a few bad habits that could have easily led to my early demise.

I stood too close to the road while waiting for the bus. I walked down shady alleyways in cities by myself while out at tournaments. I ate far too much junk food for a seventeen year old girl. I had a fascinating habit of procrastinating until the last possible minute of any assignment. And I had an obsession with dark and gruesome characters that could probably kill me in their sleep like Hannibal Lecter.

It must be why I ended up here in the land where everyone, even the kids, could kill you with a sharp pointy thing with plenty of people who were dark and gruesome.

Small side note: These sorts of people are not fun in real life.

I would also acknowledge that it was increasingly unfair that I died without having the ability to slack off for half a year, but that came later after I could finally let go of my former life and my former situation.

I did the only reasonable thing that anyone could do in that situation. I opened my mouth and wailed.

Also, life will be mildly dark as Hana's born a year before the third Shinobi war, a few months before Itachi's, and she has a teenager's self-awareness sort of, she's going to understand that she's living in a war zone. Not to mention the Kyuubi happening when she's six and the ousting of Orochimaru when she's eight and the prowling nature of Danzo among bright children does not lend itself to a beautiful world.

That said, I've been told that while Bloodless is sad sometimes, it's not overly dark as of the writing of this note.

Nobody dared to come near the man in black. Nobody dared to even check on him after the lights from the torches afar shined no more and even if the screams and yelps of the enemies they were supposed to fight ceased all so suddenly.
The last scream was a desperate cry for help that was cut short. As if his neck was twisted before uttering the last of his words. 
The night was a tense one. The man in black never returned, he seemingly disappeared but when they saw the shimmer of those red eyes in the distance from where the enemy army once stood, a shiver went down all those who witnessed it. 
Patricia, being the concerned elf she was, wanted to check on One. But Stacy said otherwise.
"We can't just go there! Look, I know you're worried about him but you have to understand that the person you once knew a few hours ago is different from the person he is now," Stacy said.
"But, we need to help him!" Patricia pleaded.
"How!? You saw what everyone else saw, his eyes turned red, blood red. A clear transformation from his peaceful blue eyes that you got used to. He ran across the fields as if he was some sort of magic cheetah and he took on an entire army by himself, an imperial army!" Stacy said.

But last night was different. The enemy army that they were supposed to fight and hate, eliminated in less than an hour by a single, mysterious man. 
A few mounted their passing. Thinking that they died a dishonorable death.

When the morning sun finally rose from the east, there was silence. Nobody returned to the fields to tend the crops, all were nervous and all were weary.

The watchers themselves weren't sure because they based their assumption on the number of torches that were lit up by the enemy army but they were certain that a few ranks did not light up their torches to create an illusion of a smaller army under the cover of darkness. 
Maybe it's the main army? Some suggested. 
But wouldn't that mean that the famed Archmage Lecter was present? If so, then he should'nt have sent one of his underlings to deal with the man in black himself knowing full well of his destructive potential.
Before anyone could raise the point that the mage that One fought last night was Lecter, several mages accompanied by a battalion of knights retrieved the battered body of the mage that was just outside of the western wall.
He wasn't even recognizable anymore. 
His face was, to put it mildly, a disaster. 
But his build was way too skinny to be Lecter, Toby pointed out. Toby was the one who lead the recovery team and he, along with the other mages who knew or had an idea of who archmage Lecter was, confirmed that he was, in fact, not Lecter. 
Stacy was the only person who knew Lecter personally. Although she outranked him by a couple numbers, Lecter was a skillful and tactical general and mage who could beat a ten thousand man army with only a thousand men as long as he was the one leading it. 
But her identity as the Archmage Quintessa was a secret she had vowed to bring to her grave. 
Or so she thought. 
Stacy had the uncomfortable thought that once the metal man caught wind of Quintessa's existence, she'd very much be exposed almost immediately. 
Thinking of it almost made her squeal but since Patricia was crying on her chest, she had to keep it in.
With Lecter out of the equation, it could be assumed that this was just the first army sent our against them, a scouting group perhaps meant to strike fear into the hearts of the defenders. 
But the watchers were seeing no trace of another army behind them even from the farthest distance they could see with their magic. 
Instead, it was relatively peaceful.
The assumption that Archmage Lecter's appearance with half a hundred thousand man army was merely a farce quickly spread like wildfire among the peasantry.
There were no celebrations, however. 
As the day progressed, a sense of normalcy returned. Stacy accompanied Patricia back to the castle while William lead some forces to carry out one of King Wog's edicts. 
Jorn and Toby, however, went inside the barracks to discuss something privately. 
Although most of the leadership within the city have voiced opposition against retrieving the man in black too early, the two of them had other ideas.
As they entered the barracks, they looked at each hall to see if anyone was inside with them. After making sure that there weren't any other knights in the barracks, they went inside Jorn's room and locked the door. 
"Alright, so, how are we going to save the man in black from his frenzied state?" Jorn asked.


“There is this aching feeling, it pains my heart and fries my already half-human and half-machine heart. I awoke in a world of death and destruction, I am the only survivor. Chapter 553 – Epilogueception (7) (300 Years East-West War Part 2)

After the country unification, Lu Bu resumed his work as the grand commander to the Red Hare Legion.
Due to the authority conflict between Zhang Liao and Lu Bu, Zhang Liao got a new army of his own, which dissatisfied Lu Bu as he wanted to use his former subordinate.
He got into the fight with Tong several times, but Lu Bu couldn't beat Tong anymore despite having the same cultivation base, 10 wings.
Lu Bu isolated himself to cultivate some more, but he reached the bottleneck because of his immortal oaths. He could not raise his strength more than 10 wings unless Lilim released him from her subordination.
Lu Bu visited Lilim and begged her to release him. However, she refused. The brainwashed girl wanted to keep Lu Bu in check for her husband, so she kept him as it was.
The god of war quit his job after that. He retired and returned to Jinyang to live with his father, Ding Yuan.
Years passed. The East-West War began.
Because of the emergency, Tong summoned Lu Bu back and returned his position. To compensate for his service, Lilim voided Lu Bu's oath, and allow him to cultivate more wings.
Delighted by the war and the freedom, Lu Bu returned to the battlefield with his father, Gao Shun, and other commanders.
The first battle he fought was the Southern Xiongnu Defensive Campaign. Guo Jia sent Lu Bu and Zhang Liao's unit to fend off against Severus Army and the coalition forces from Kushan and Sassanid.
As prideful as Lu Bu was, he didn't listen to Guo Jia or Ju Shou, who were supposed to assist him on stratagem and troops placement. Lu Bu allocated his best units and dumped all weaker soldiers to Zhang Liao before he rushed out to kill his enemies.
Ding Yuan, Lu Bu, and Gao Shun massacred and routed Sasanian and Kushan Army with ease due to Tong's advanced weapons, such as modern rifles, night goggles, grenades, and 20 year-worth of food in Lu Bu's new [Inventory] skill, bestowed by Tong.
With such supplies, Lu Bu got cockier. He charged at Severus Army head-on.
Little did he know that it was Hannibal's schemes. Severus drew Lu Bu's forces into Siberian and isolated him during winter. The coordination between Hannibal and Severus stopped Lu Bu's momentum, and they killed both Ding Yuan and Gao Shun during the counterattack. At the same time, he sent his main forces to strike Zhang Liao to destroy Lu Bu's main supply base.
When Lu Bu heard that his father was killed and Zhang Liao's base was destroyed, he sent his forces back home and fought against Severus on his own, planning to kill as many soldiers as he could to avenge for his father's death.
He ran into another trap. Severus and elite cultivators surrounded him.
Desperately, Lu Bu fought to save his own skin. He lost count how many men he killed, but they kept self-detonating before they died.
Fortunately, Zhang Liao busted him out of trouble. Lu Bu returned home with a humiliating defeat.
Angry and sad, Lu Bu got depressed. He isolated himself and cultivated like a mad man. Yet, he couldn't progress further as he didn't have an oath subordinate.
When Lu Bu heard that his father and Gao Shun could reincarnate with Tong's system power, he recovered. He reflected on his mistake and asked Tong for another chance to lead troops against Severus.
However, the war had already tipped to their favor at that time, thanks to Pu Jing, Guo Jia, Zhuge Liang, Jia Xu, and the navy forces of the Sun Clan. Tong didn't need to deploy more troops or send Lu Bu to the battle again.
Yet, after seeing Lu Bu's enthusiasm, Tong allowed Lu Bu to fight again, but he was not allowed to lead any unit. Lu Bu had to fight on his own.
The good news was – Lu Bu could do anything he wanted or roam the battlefields. However, he couldn't command soldiers.
Lu Bu agreed. He traveled west, searching for a battlefield that he could fight. Also, he planned to kill Severus and Hannibal, who killed many of his men and his father.
Jia Xu learned that Lu Bu was on his way. He sent some info of Severus Army location to Lu Bu and told him that Severus was vulnerable there.
Learning Severus' location from Jia Xu, Lu Bu rushed to Constantinople, Greece, where Severus was preparing his forces to fight against Sun Quan, Lu Xun, Gan Ning, and the Sun Clan Army in Karapınar Forest, Turkey.
Lu Bu barged into the city and killed soldiers, civilians, and officers. He destroyed half of the city on his own before Severus showed up with his elite bodyguards.
Like a mad dog, Lu Bu fought everyone without caring for his life.
In the end, he killed Severus as he wished, but he was killed by Severus' no-name bodyguards. Still, he died smiling, knowing that he could reincarnate again.
Thanked to Lu Bu's contribution and self-sacrifice, the Roman Empire went into chaos as ambitious senates fought each other to succeed Severus for a whole year. The prepared troops deserted their armies, while many senates drew them to their sides to increase their political power.
Lu Xun, Guo Jia, Zhuge Liang, and Jia Xu went into action and intervened with Roman's internal affair. Each of them pretended to support different factions and put them to fight each other.
However, Hannibal thwarted their plan and raised a puppet emperor, Caracalla, the eldest son of Severus, as the new emperor before civil war broke out.
But the effort was futile as more new forces and countries emerged from the ruined cities that Cao Mengde and Pu Jing destroyed. Hannibal went missing afterward.
This development led to the downfall of the Roman Empire. Lu Bu was given the full credits for dealing the decisive blow, which triggered this event.
Ding Yuan, Lu Bu, and Gao Shun's statues were built in Jinyang to honor their glorious achievements after the war.
Lu Bu's reincarnation was delayed due to the death of Tong during the festival. But after Tong reincarnated as Xian Tong and reclaimed his old universe, including the admin position, Lu Bu was born as Tong's 2,005th son.
Lu Bu changed his name into Xian Fengxian, who became a dominant figure among Tong's descendants. But that was for another story.

After Tong's returned from Lilim's dimension, Guan Yu, Zhao Yun, Huang Zhong, and Ma Chao were repositioned and assigned into a single unit – Shu Han Legion.
This was to honor Liu Bei's former generals. Even though Zhang Fei was killed by Li Feihong, nobody minded it since Li Feihong was Liu Bei. Master killing a bad subordinate was a normal thing.
Xu Shu, Zhuge Liang, and Zhou Cang were transferred to help this unit as well.
Li Feihong's Crimson Angel Legion was disbanded, but Li Feihong was transferred to be Shu Han Legion's grand commander instead. Since they were all Shu-Han, they should have a better affinity than working with other former Wei generals.
This move was to gather potential threats into one unit, so Li Feihong, a loyal buddy, could control them.
Unfortunately, Li Feihong saw it as a burden. He complained a lot to Tong that the latter overworked him. He already had the title of Prime Minister, and he had to clean up Dong Bai's mess. Now that Tong put him in charge of these rowdy people, Li Feihong threatened to commit suicide.
Facing Li Feihong's protest, Tong put Zhuge Liang in charge of this legion instead.
And Tong did not disappoint. Although Zhuge Liang's action seemed dubious and ambitious, he was a hardcore loyalist. As long as Tong put him in a high-ranking position with heavy responsibility, Zhuge Liang's loyalty wouldn't waver.
Zhuge Liang requested to transfer them to Yi Province, the old Shu. Tong allowed it and sent them to their former kingdom.

That was not all, Zhuge Liang snatched Zhong Hui and Deng Ai, great generals of Wei's later generation, into his ranks a few decades later.
The court went into an uproar as they thought that Zhuge Liang was planning to rebel, but Tong, Diaochan, Dong Bai, and Lu Zhi trusted them. Not because of his trust did Tong allow Zhuge Liang to do whatever he did, but Tong was aware of the upcoming trouble, which Pu Jing caused during his time in the west.
Pu Jing returned to China along with a new war as Tong had expected.
Immediately, Tong put Zhuge Liang into good use. He sent Shu Han Legion to Kushan Empire while Guo Jia deployed Zhang Liao and Lu Bu to the north.
Tong demanded that Zhuge Liang had to settle down in the area and form a new route toward the west other than the Silk Road or the sea route. In other words, Tong wanted Zhuge Liang to conquer India's regions.
Zhuge Liang didn't disappoint Tong. He conquered ancient Burmese and Tibetan Tribes in Tibet. Even small tribes of a few hundred people in Nepal, Bangladesh, and Bhutan didn't escape his grasp.
Shu Han Legion spent 20 years annexing 12 major kingdoms in India Peninsula, including Gupta, who should have dominated India in history in a few years. In the same year, reports said that Zhang Liao achieved a major victory over Severus Army in Southern Xiongnu.
Afterward, it was an easy task for Zhuge Liang to wipe out the weakened Kushan, who was being attacked by the expanding Sassanid Kingdom.
From that point, Shu Han Legion buttheaded against the two father and son, Ardashir and Shapur, the emperor and the prince of the Sassanian Empire.
Shockingly, Ardashir and Shapur had prepared a massive force of a million Neo-Persian war-slaves, and they waited for Zhuge Liang's arrival to fight in a decisive battle.
Guan Yu, who was a 10-wing angel at the time, found shocking info by using his immortal sight. They ran into a trap, orchestrated by Hannibal Barca. Both Shapur and Ardashir retained their counterpart memory and managed to acquire 8 wings. However, they swore allegiance to Severus, so they couldn't progress through their cultivation fast enough.
Zhuge Liang, Fa Zhang, Jiang Wei, and Xu Shu found it cute. Despite having only 200,000 soldiers, Zhuge Liang declined Ardashir's open battle challenge and forced them to fight in their turf, where his forces had the advantage ground.
After all, they knew that their Shu Han Legion's duty was just a distraction for Sassanid. The real attack forces were the navy unit of Wu Han Legion of Sun Quan.
Using the advantage of superior cultivators and technologies, Zhuge Liang dragged the campaign and withered Sassanid's food supply.
Every day, they fought in Zhuge Liang's home ground, but he kept on defending. Cannons, guns, ranged weapons stopped the massive army of cultivators and slaves on their track.
8-wing and 6-wing cultivators couldn't infiltrate Zhuge Liang's airspace either as monster generals, Guan Yu, Zhao Yun, Ma Chao, Huang Zhong, Deng Ai, Jiang Wei, and Zhong Hui revealed their 10 wings, intimidating the little angels and demons.

Without the aid of the monster, Ardashir and Shapur couldn't keep up with Zhuge Liang's never-ending traps, arrays, and WW-I's trenches and barbed wires mazes.
By 320 AD, Ardashir and Shapur stopped attacking as his army suffered heavy casualties. They sent a diplomat and asked for a truce.
Fa Zhang had an idea. Instead of having truce, Fa Zhang persuaded Ardashir to join their side instead.
By bribing them with outdated weapons, such as muskets, Ardashir wavered. However, Shapur saw through Fa Zhang's scheme, so he suggested to his father that they should decline.
Fa Zhang pushed further. He revealed that Tong was the king god that could manipulate universe laws that he could create water and food from nothingness.
The temptation of [Create Food] system skills attracted both father and son. As the majority of their land was desert and wasteland, they lacked a major source of food.
As such, the Sassanid Empire switched sides. They formed an alliance with Shu Han Army in exchange for Tong's skill.
Tong gave the skill to the father and son as requested by Zhuge Liang. Using this chance, Jiang Wei and Xu Shu also showed off their skills by coaxing the Sassanid emperor to attack the Roman Empire together with them.
Drunk by the abundance of created food, Ardashir sent his forces to attack Greece as requested.
Both Roman and Sassanid ended up killing each other for a year before Anicius Faustus captured Ardashir and told them that they were tricked.
Roman released Ardashir and signed a peace treaty with each other afterward.
Sensing that their plan had failed, Shu Han Legion repositioned themselves in India. , just in case the Sasanian father and son would turn against them in the future.
As Zhuge Liang had predicted, Sassanid eventually backstabbed them in the year 500 after Pu Jing, Cao Mengde, Sun Shangxiang, and Sun Quan broke the Roman Empire into pieces.
Since they asked for it, Shu Han Legion finally attacked the Sassanid Empire.
The Glorious Neo-Persian Empire fell apart in a year. Shu Han returned home afterward as Zhuge Liang refused to stay in this arid land for more than necessary. They didn't bother ruling over the territories as Tong warned them about the latter generation European countries.
Many years after the war, Hannibal Barca returned and visited them, not with his human form but his other form. It was the day that a giant dragon opened a rift to invite Tong and others to the [Festival].
Tong didn't allow native subordinates to join the festival, but he sent everyone into Zhang Jiao's dimension.
Seeing Tong's action, Hannibal Barca, the dragon, left a sarcastic remark to Tong, "How does it feel to be on the powerless side for once, administrator?"


Tong, a sinner who was suffering endless torment in hell because of his mistake he had done in his previous life, was giving other chance to redeem himself by the devil. 

All he had to do was participating in the redemption program, organized by the gods and the devils. His eyes lingered on the two's faces for a while. "Pick one each, the person that selects the pork soup will leave this place alive, while the other… will enter the freezer and become the ingredient for my next soup."
Oink's mountain-like body cast a shadow by blocking the light that came from the kitchen. In the dim environment, the layer of oil on the surface of the soups practically glistened. That, combined with the aroma, made them as alluring as they could be.
"Another warning, do not leave a drop of the soup behind, and do not vomit any out, or both of you will enter the freezer together," Oink added.
There were no visible ingredients in the bowls before them; Oink made sure to only scoop out the soup. Despite the layer of oil, the soups themselves looked clear. In any case, visual-wise, they were identical.
They would not make the distinction smell-wise either. Both pots of soup were seasoned with the same spices and garnishing. The smell of meat was covered up by the headiness of the red wine and spices. The human sense of smell was not the best in the world, and naturally, it would be preposterous to assume that Feng Bujue or Passing Rain would be able to tell the difference from smell alone.
Therefore, there was only one method left… which was to taste them.
Even though Thriller Paradise had an unnecessarily authentic replication of disgusting sensations with it came to things like blood, internal organs, and sewer sludge, as long as the players were able to overcome the 'psychological pressure', everything was edible. One could even chew on glass or nails, but it might cause effects like the draining of Life Points, bleeding, diseased, and so on.
After about ten seconds of internal struggle, Feng Bujue seemed to come to a decision. He picked up the bowl that was before him and tossed it down his throat, ignoring the fact that it might scald his throat. He finished it in less than ten seconds. Passing Rain looked at him and thought to herself, Well, it looks like the choice has been made for me. I can only choose the remaining bowl now. Well, at worst, it'll be a quick death.
However, after Feng Bujue finished his bowl, without saying a word, he leaned over to grab the other bowl and guzzled it out without stopping, finishing it similarly in under ten seconds.
Passing Rain was stumped for several seconds before the truth dawned on her. The first bowl that Feng Bujue drank was the pork soup. After finishing it, he knew that the one left on the table was human soup, so to protect her, he grabbed it away from her to finish it. That was exactly Feng Bujue's thoughts, but like always, things were not that simple.
Before the trial started, his thought was indeed, No matter what, I can't let a woman eat human meat, right?
Therefore, he had to move faster and more importantly drink faster. If he chose the human soup, then he would willingly accept death. If he chose the pork soup, he would grab the other bowl to finish it as well. That was the plan…
But once he got it into action, things changed.

"Do you have any idea what you've done?" Oink looked at Feng Bujue and said darkly, "So, you want to protect your teammate? What do you think is stopping me from serving another two bowls?"
Hearing that, Feng Bujue slammed the table, and he bounced up. He used a very haughty gaze to glare at Oink, and the words that he could not say were, "F*ck you! What do you think is stopping me from murdering you‽"
Oink was unfazed. He turned calmly around to walk back into the kitchen. As he moved, he said, "Come with me."
Obviously, this directive was meant for Feng Bujue.
Passing Rain grabbed his arm, looked into Feng Bujue's eyes, and shook her head. She believed that Oink was inviting him because he was going to chop him up to make ingredient for the next pot of soup. However, Feng Bujue merely smiled. He handed the ownership of the lamp on the table back to Passing Rain. Before he left, he wrote down with his finger in her palm, 'Wait for me'.
Then, he signaled for Passing Rain to sit back down to rest. For some reason, she felt comforted by his action, like he had everything under control.
After following Oink into the deepest part of the kitchen, since Passing Rain was not around, Feng Bujue could bypass the ban after he lowered his voice. "Neither of the two bowls was made from human meat, right?"
"Naturally," Oink replied. "But that doesn't mean that I am unable to prepare a meal with human meat. In fact, I asked you in here to look at my storage."
He walked to the freezer, opened the door forty-five degrees, and pulled out a slab of meat from inside that was one meter long. The meat was hanging from an iron hook, and he tossed it onto the table.
If one looked closer, one would realize this was the lower body of a human male.
"The kid inside the well. He was weak and easily-bullied when he was alive, but after his death, he not only killed his nemeses but also went after many local ruffians that had not harmed him," Oink said. "Even after he was injured by the Yin Yang master, it did little to quench his desire for vengeance, so I chopped him in two, to get him to calm down."
Then, Oink dragged out an armless dead body from the large freezer, explaining, "This was a laughable music teacher. He was quite a conceited man and thought that teaching and not performing was a waste of his talent. He dreamed of becoming a composer, but the man simply did not have the talent. One day, he died in the music room when he was composing a piece and turned into a spirit that forced others to listen to his music."
At this point, Feng Bujue knew what was about to come next. "Let me guess… there's also a dead baby inside the freezer?"
"You've killed the child," Oink replied as he took out a female body whose internal cavity was emptied. "This is its mother. Like you suspected, before she committed suicide, she tore open her pregnant stomach out of hatred and resentment."
Then, Oink closed the door and took out a glass jar from the cupboard. The jar was filled with blood, and two human eyeballs were floating inside. "This was once a beautiful girl, especially her eyes; they were exceptionally electrifying. She was vain and knew how to make use of her good looks to get what she wanted. She was in a relationship with several male students at the same time and had each of them purchase expensive presents to win her favor.
"One day, a group of envious female students ganged up on her in the toilet and pressed her head into a filled sink. They just wanted to teach her a lesson, but their behavior was blinded by envy. Sin overwhelmed their brains and bodies. When the girl's blood from her lungs dyed the water in the sink red, only then did they realize the mistake that they had made.
"The resentment around this spirit was very strong, and she killed many people. Even after I gauged out her eyes, it was unable to stop her killing spree. If anything, it only caused her to cultivate the strange habit of collecting people's eyeballs."
"Then, are you related as well to the strange dimension that led from the thirteenth step?" Feng Bujue asked.
Oink turned the question back. "Where do think the souls of the people that were killed by these people went?"
"So, you created that dimension to act as a rubbish can to keep those spirits?" Feng Bujue realized. "But what about the hoard of ghosts that is currently outside?"
"That should be my question to you," Oink said. "Why are the ghosts outside from this school gathered here to pursue the two of you?"
That question made Feng Bujue understand that the ghosts that would chase after them once they broke the rules had nothing to do with the Specters from the seven supernatural phenomena at Ye Jie Elite Academy.
"I have no idea." Feng Bujue brushed off the question and quickly changed the subject. "You're telling me these because you're like the custodian here, right? Then, I must ask, why are you purposely coming up with this whole charade about cooking human meat? What is the meaning of the last line of the song?"
"Naturally, I'm here to help you," Oink said. "Or more precisely, to help those who have the courage to drink the soup."
Feng Bujue heard that, and something occurred to him. He opened the menu and cursed internally. He had done the wrong thing out of kindness. It turned out the two bowls of soup were able to recover one's Life Points. Currently, his Life Points were full. Even though he had no idea how many Life Points one bowl of soup would recover, it had definitely been wasted on him.
Thinking about it, he realized that this quest was quite interesting. It was not only challenging the player's courage. On top of that, it was to see who would drink first and what would happen after finishing the bowl of soup.
If only one player triggered this quest, then it was a simple test of courage, but if two players triggered this quest, then many variables would be introduced. If both were harboring the intention to harm the other, neither would be willing to drink first, afraid that they might pick the so-called human soup. At the same time, they hoped that the unlucky fate would befall the other player.
"With regards to the last line," Oink said, "you'll understand once you return to the school entrance."
"Is that so?" Feng Bujue said contemplatively. He understood that Oink was already giving him the location to trigger the last line. Feng Bujue cautiously asked, "Can you please give me another bowl of soup?"
"You want to take one to your teammate?" Oink replied. "Sure."
After two seconds of silence, he added, "But this third bowl will not be complementary. What do you plan to use to exchange it for?"
His eyes suddenly turned dark. "An arm? A pair of eyes?"
Feng Bujue felt the atmosphere turn. This heaven's butcher was chaotic neutral; no one knew whether he was really an ally or an enemy. When he heard the request of an arm or a pair of eyes, Feng Bujue instinctively reached into his backpack to retrieve the kitchen knife to arm. He was going to use Below-the-belt Shin Kick to save himself.
"A kitchen knife, is it?" Oink grabbed the weapon. He was so fast that Feng Bujue could not even react. "Not bad."
He weighed it in his palm for a while, tried to wave it around, and used the corner of his eyes to look at Feng Bujue. "Go get your soup."

Feng Bujue lost his ability to fear because of an unknown psychological disorder. Through a virtual reality game designed for players to experience fright and despair, he began his search for his lost fear. Could he finally regain his ability to fear? Could he outwit the scenarios presented to him? Could he finally uncover the truth hidden inside Thriller Paradise?  


Joseph was the type of person who seemed to be utterly fearless. The type of person who would explore a haunted house just for the heck of it or jump from a plane because life is short. However as fearless as he was, he couldn't keep himself from panicking when this shark-teeth girl named Mako directly talked to his system.

He immediately understood that she didn't just look dangerous, she was. But he couldn't do anything, because as soon as he gulped in fear, Mako grabbed his arm and pouted.

" Don't be afraid of Mako, Mako is a good girl !!!" She screamed at him, suddenly gripping his arm with such strength he felt like his limb was going to be ripped off. But he slightly relaxed when he saw that she was basically acting like a child, a strong child but a child nonetheless.

" I'm not afraid of Mako, I am just a little surprised." Said Joseph but Mako litterally pulled on his arm and dragged him to the floor.

" Don't lie to Mako !" 

" Oh I wouldn't lie to Mako, Mako is a good girl after all." 

Joseph had just said that to get her to let go, but was pleasantly surprised when she blushed and smiled genuinely. She was obviously very happy that he had said that.

" Well since Mako is a good girl, Joseph should buy her something to eat ! Mako is hungry and Mommy said Mako can't people but Mako don't know how to get other types of food." 

' ...Oh God, she's serious ain't she ?' Thought Joseph, trying and failing to not show how much he was scared. She was just a little girl but to him she was a cute, insanely strong, Hannibal Lecter. But he relented and told her they would get some food

" Actually there is going to be a problem Mako. Firstly an adult walking alongside a child who is clearly not of his family is a bit suspiscious, atleast for japanese, and also you don't really look like other people." Said Joseph and that got him a huge pout from Mako who puffed her cheeks. 

" Mako can look like other people you know ?!" She yelled before turning around, crouching and making some weird ' Munyu Munyuuu' sounds as she used her hands to wipe her face. She then faced Joseph and...

' Oh shit ! Is she some sort of magician or something like that ?!' 

In the place of the creepy shark girl was now a cute girl who absolutely didn't have teeth that looked like they were made to shred things, things like humans per exemple. So after her little trick Mako smiled and followed Joseph who lead her to a family restaurant. 

The whole thing wasn't actually weird, Mako ate normally, acted normally and nothing went wrong. Joseph came out of the restaurant satisfied, though Mako looked rather sad.

" What's wrong Mako ?"

Said girl lifted her head and teared up a little.

" Mommy said that Mako needed to come back home because Mako is doing a bad job and she is going to send someone else to replace me." 

" Oh and who is Mommy ?" Asked Joseph, trying to get some info from the girl. But said girl suddenly froze, her face instantly went back to it's original state, her weird eye frantically moving around once more while the other one had rolled to the back of her head. Joseph was going to push her a bit to see what was wrong but she smiled and jumped in the air, HIGH.

" What....The....Hell ?" Joseph murmured as he couldn't see Mako anymore. He then saw a little paper drop in front of him, took it, opened it and...

" She, she....She is not a little girl ?!" Yelled Joseph, sounding like an actual pedophile while staring at the paper in shock. On it was written:" Mako likes you so Mako will tell you this. I ain't a goddamn child fucker !!!".

( A few hours later )

Having finally reached Yukako's house after doing a bit of shopping to calm himself, Joseph huffed a sigh of relief.

" That was some crazy experience. Hope I never meet that...Thing, again."

[ You will meet her again, that I can assure you of Host.]

Joseph halted his step and clenched his teeth.

" So you are finally back you damn fucker ?! I nearly died of a heart attack you know !"

[ I am sorry, but the appearence of a ?¿?¿? caused a little bug. However you will be thrilled to know that I have bought the ability for you and that you know possess the Devil's tongue.]

" Well ain't that fantastic ? And I think I have just the perfect occasion to use it." Said Joseph, smirking like a villain as he eyed the traditional japanese house in front of him. He could already see a few security guards patrolling around, but he didn't have to worry. He could get out of any trouble with Devil's eye, though he wanted to try Devil's Tongue.

And so Joseph made it to the front of the house and was immediately stopped by two guards.

" This is a private property sir, you cannot randomly enter. Did you have an appointment with a member of the Suhara's household ?" Asked the first guard who seemed a bit young while the other, older one, just looked.

" Well I don't have an appointment....But I am a friend of Yukako, you can make an exception for me right ?" Asked Joseph, and the guards could swear a black gas was coming out of his mouth, but they just nodded their heads dumbly.

" Yes of course, we can make an exception." Said the first guard as he side stepped. The second one looked a bit confused, but Joseph quickly walked inside.

' So the older was tougher and I couldn't 'convince' him as much as the other.' Thought Joseph as he admired the scenery of the garden and walked leisurely, as if he owned the place. Then, after reaching the house, he encountered a little chubby girl that froze as soon as she saw him.

[ Host this is bad. Did you ever hear someone say things like ' Only children speak the truth' or ' Only Children can see angels.' Well this is partially true. A Human Child can see a lot more things than an adult, and this one seemed to have caught up on your evil aura.]

' Evil aura ? Why do I even have an evil aura ? I am not a demon'

[ Yes but the abilities that you have give you this aura. They basically make you a demon in terms of how one would feel you. You smell and feel like a demon.]

' Oh crap !' Joseph sweared and reached for the girl's mouth as she was about to scream. She looked even more terrified, but Joseph's eyes glowed red and she calmed down. Or rather she became too calm, Joseph having used his eyes to terrify her to the point her whole body shut down.

" Huh, who are you and what are you doing with young miss ?" Asked a guard passing by as Joseph groaned.

' Great another fucker.'

" I am a friend of Yukako so It's normal that I am here." Said Joseph, smiling widely while the guard just nodded and walked away. This seemed to be it for the girl who promptly passed out.

' Ugh, I may have gone too far. I feel kinda guilty now. I don't really enjoy hurting people and it's worth with children...Fuck.' Thought Joseph while looking at the girl with some pity in his eyes. He just laid her against a wall and left her, deciding that going to Yukako was more important.

He then entered the house and procceeded to search it completely, without finding a single person. He found that rather weird so he searched once more and heard some voices coming from a door that lead to the basement. He opened the door, entered the basement and immediately recalled the words of the system.

' So that's the type of consequences that my actions could have on her mind.'

[ Scary isn't it. You changed this perfectly fine woman into...This ]

" LET ME SEE HIM !!! I NEED TOOOO!" Screamed Yukako as she tried to punch someone in the face. Said person whom Joseph assumed was her father since he kinda looked like her and was the only person in the room besides her dodged and yelled back.

" I don't even know who you are talking about !" 

Joseph sweat dropped and just decided to intervene before she killed the man.

" Now now Yukako, don't be so aggressive. You will get to see Hideo soon" Said Joseph, hoping that she was actually asking to see said person. Yukako perked up as she heard him, looked in his direction, and chaos ensued.

'Oh hell noooo !!!' Screamed Joseph in his mind as blood flowed from Yukako's nose, ears and mouth, her eyes rolling to the back of her head as she dropped to the ground. Her father looked horrified and quite surprised given that he had no idea who the newcomer was. Joseph then acted quickly and got to the father's face, his eyes flashing red as the man fainted when he locked his eyes with Joseph's.

The panicked 19 old young man looked at Yukako and saw that her body was convulsing.

" Seriously it can go this far, damn."

[ Indeed. Adding a completely new profile inside someone's mind can be dangerous as their brain could see this profile as something dangerous and try to destroy it, hurting itself in the process and as such hurting Yukako....Badly.]

" Yeah I noticed. Now, how to deal with this situation. Yukako most likely won't remember what happened but the dad will. What will I do...Hmmm." Joseph said as he put his fingers on his mouth and thought.

" It would work if I entered Yukako's mind to get used to the feeling once more and do the same to her father's mind to be able to alter his memory if only a bit, right ?"

[ Ding ! Host has found a way to use mind control without possessing said ability: 10 000 points were given to the host by ?¿?¿?]

" 10 000 ?!!!! Hohoho, I can already tell I am going to like the new ability I'll buy with this much." Exclaimed Joseph while entering Yukako's mind and immediately regretting it. The whole 'place' was a mess. His profile was everywhere and it was giving a whole creepy vibe to the place. But Joseph did his best at ignoring it and spent some time getting used to the feeling, until Koichi's thread appeared and he tied it to his own. He then entered the man mind and changed his memory of the evrnt. Though he found out that he couldn't change it too much, most likely because he wasn't granting a wish and as such wasn't given all that much power. Fortunately Joseph could simply erase his presence from the man's memory, he also tried to make the man think that the whole mess with Yukako hadn't happened but was actually thrown off the man's mind.

[ It seems that this man's mind is a bit too strong for you Host.]

' Well doesn't matter, he still won't remember me.' Thought Joseph with a shit-eating grin on his face.

He then procceeded to immediately open the shop like he was some drug acting getting his fill and madly browsed through the ability while sitting on Koichi since the floor was kinda cold.

" Hmmm this one is good but I ain't a fighter so meh...This one could be useful bit it's too situational...Oh this one is perfect !"

[ This ability allows the user to temporarily become insanely fast. It can be used to dodge better, attack better or even just travel long distances fast. Though it can takes some time to get used to the speed.]

" Aahhh.....Perfection." Sighed Joseph in pleasure as he lifted himself and exited the basement. He quickly got outside and saw that a small crowd of guards had assembled around the little girl so he went in the opposite direction and came face to face with a very amused girl.

" Mako ?!"

One day Joseph woke up with a weird device on his wrist that allowed him to have another chance at life. That device allowed him to finally understand how the world worked.

There were many people throughout history who saw their dreams become true after signing contracts, striking deals with the devil.

And so Joseph will go from a normal student to the very Devil that can make any dream come true.....As long as you can pay of course.

Warning: The Mc will have a system, he will also have a harem. I'm saying this because I know that many people hate those stuff, but given that the MC is a common guy with common wants, a wish-fullfilling system and a harem is only logical.
