"I told him to comeback here again and give you something that you liked which is a bouquet of roses with chocolate. You should thank me too, my dear." Tita Coolen grinned. 

"Why did you do that?"

"Why? Don't you like it?" I rolled my eyes at her.

Gustong gusto ko ang roses o mga bulaklak lalo na kapag pink. Pero talaga bang sinasadya n'yang bigyan n'ya ako ng mga ganitong klaseng roses? I mean, he gave me a bouquet of red, violet and pink roses. Ayoko namang mag-assume pero hindi ko mapigilan. One of these has symbols and meanings as well as the chocolate. 

It was just weird. Ayokong pangunahan ang isipan ko pero sa lahat ng iyon, bakit red, violet at pink?

 Ang kulay pula ay simbolo ng pagmamahal.

Violet is a symbol of love at first sight. How come? Hindi naman s'ya nahulog agad sa'kin noong nakita n'ya ako pagkatapos ng ilang taon.

Pink is a symbol of femininity and there's a lot of symbols about it. I do love pink roses. Of course, because of how it stands for. A lot of women loves pink color because it stand for femininity. Like empowering women with its symbols and meanings.

Bakit n'ya ba ako ginaganito? Hindi pa ba sapat ang pag-amin ko sa kan'yang may boyfriend na ako? Ba't hindi nalang s'ya humanap ng iba, maraming nagkakandarapa sa kan'ya. Ba't n'ya pa hinintay ang isang katulad ko? Hindi ako maganda noon at kahit sinong lalaki sa Unibersidad ay walang nagkakagusto sa'kin. Nagsasayang lang s'ya ng oras at kagwapuhan n'ya, nagtitiis pa s'ya sa isang katulad ko na wala namang ginawa kundi ang ipakita sa kanilang lahat ang kapangitan ko noon.

"I—"

"I'm here to ask your permission. I will take Emy for dinner tonight." Biglang sambit ni John na ikasinghap naming tatlo na nasa lamesa.

"Alagaan mo lang ang apo ko, ayos na sa'kin. Pinagkakatiwalaan kita." Sabi ni lola.

Lumaki ang mata ko at tinitigan lang si lola. Gusto kong umayaw. Ayokong masolo si John dahil alam ko sa sarili ko na magiging mahina na naman ako at ayoko ng ganun.

Ang gwapo ni John at alam kong hindi lamang ako ang mahuhulog sa alindog n'ya. Alam kong hindi ko na naman mapipigilan ang sarili ko. Natatakot ako dahil may kasintahan ako, hindi dapat ako ganito. I don't want to be a cheater. I need to avoid John as soon as possible.

John has a girlfriend. They're already 4 years and still holding on. But she realized that how can she get her happiness if her happiness is to have him?

How?

How can she steal him from his girlfriend if she's the bestfriend of his girlfriend?

Will she still do it?

Even though large-scale construction of brick houses in the territory had commenced, and despite all the previous tents being replaced and large numbers of wooden huts being demolished and rebuilt in batches, Pittman's residence was still that wooden hut he had since the very beginning. —— This had nothing to do with the little old man's laborious style of work (in fact, he didn't have this attribute at all), nor was it Gawain targeting this little old man's indecency; it was simply due to a considerable amount of Druid spells being related to the organic environment. Druid spell laboratories required large amounts of wooden base to serve as magic-conducting materials, and wooden houses were also more convenient for them to reform and catalyze using magic. Thus, this wooden hut remained in use till today, and it seemed Pittman satisfactorily planned to continue using it like that. 
In reality, although the wooden hut was still wooden, through Pittman's magic transformation over the past few months, it had a completely changed look —— those felled wooden boards that had originally lost their vitality gained a certain kind of "activation" under the permanent infiltration of Druid spells. Vines, branches, and leaves grew out from the gaps between the wooden boards. While making the wooden hut even tighter and more solid, they also greatly beautified its appearance. And the interior of the wooden hut became warm in winter and cool in summer due to the effects of natural spells. Gawain believed this was a rather comfortable lodging. 
Otherwise, that old rascal — who peddled ointments all day long and scrounged for free meals everywhere, drinking and playing cards, with no ends to his bad habits — would've long approached him for a change in housing… Pittman wasn't the kind of fellow to willingly be poor; otherwise, he wouldn't have gone so far as to becoming an antique appraiser because being a Druid wasn't profitable…
Walking into this already renewed (and taking on a new look every day) house, Gawain caught the old Druid who had his head bowed and was busying about beside the laboratory bench at first glance. The latter had clearly already noticed the arrival of the feudal lord but still didn't lift his head. "Lord, please hold on for a moment. I'll be done here right away. —— Spell experiments cannot be interrupted. The equipment is slightly worn. I've got to watch them carefully to—" 
At the side, Amber exposed him without the slightest hesitance. "Stop pretending. That pile of vessels of yours hasn't started reacting. —— Such a respectable style of being engrossed in academic research and responsible to the truth! Being too occupied to attend to the feudal lord doesn't suit you." 
Gawain heard the truth exposed by Amber midway, though feeling touched due to Pittman's rigorous and earnest working attitude. He instantly examined Pittman from top to bottom with doubt, and the latter straightened up from beside the laboratory bench. He scowled and glared at Miss Half-Elf. "I just wanted to cheat and get some experiment funds. Do I have it easy?! Whose side are you on?"
Amber rolled her eyes. "Duh, I'll be on the side of whoever pays me." 
"Cough, cough", Gawain quickly cut off the topic of conversation that was about to digress with a dry cough. "I'm here to look at your experiment results. ——You seemed to have settled the most critical step for the mass production of potions?"
Pittman put down his old and worn alchemy tools that he used to cheat for funds upon hearing him. He straightened up triumphantly and led Gawain towards another alchemy platform on the other side of the laboratory. "Come look at this first!"
Gawain walked over curiously. He saw a series of connected flasks, retort, condensing tube, distillation kettle, and other equipment placed on the alchemy platform. All these were commonly used items when metallurgists concocted potions. Although they were rather complicatedly assembled together, there was nothing too special compared to when Pittman concocted the potions previously. What was truly particular was the complex magical runes carved on the surfaces of two of the vessels, as well as an unfamiliar rune formation in the middle of the platform. 
Gawain could be sure that there were no such structures on normal alchemy platforms and alchemy vessels. 
"What are these?" Gawain asked curiously.
"This is the 'Druid theurgy circle' used to replace the spellcaster's participation." Pittman blinked and said rather proudly. 
"Druid theurgy circle?!"
"Yes." Pittman nodded. "As you know, the biggest problem we encountered when we wanted to mass-produce Druid potions previously was the necessity of a spellcaster participating in the last step of 'enchantment'. Only Druid spells could catalyze these potions." 
At this point, Pittman paused before going on, "Druid spells were born from the ancient nature theurgies, entirely different from the present conventional magical system, so there isn't a set of perfect 'spell mold - rune formation' corresponding conversion system. In other words, many Druid spells cannot be converted into magic circles. This led to the inability to rely on carved magic circles on external materials to replace the spellcaster like how we did with the Magic Web or heat-ray gun… Thus, this restricted the mass production of alchemical potions because the number of Druids is limited, and the total magical power of an individual is also limited." 
Gawain looked at this little old man whose usual performance was rather frivolous in surprise. "So you successfully converted Druid magic into magic circles?"
"Strictly speaking, it's the ancient Druid theurgy circles —— the 'theurgy circles' back when the Druid faction was still the Sect of the God of Nature and Druid magic was still theurgy," Pittman clarified in a low yet solemn voice. "For this, I went through large quantities of ancient books and records. —— I spent a total of one hundred and twenty gold coins buying the books, and the total cost of the errand fee from asking someone to buy the books is—" 
"It's not suitable to talk about this in such a solemn atmosphere. I'll reimburse you later." Gawain cut him off directly. "But I remember that the Druid theurgies have all become invalid. Those ancient theurgy circles could actually still be used?" 
"Of course they cannot if they are being used directly, but look at these runes… Don't you find them familiar?"
With such a reminder, Gawain then noticed that those magical patterns on the surface of those vessels and the alchemy platform were indeed a little familiar. Regarding the combining of the elemental runes and sacred symbols together, there was an even stronger feeling of déjà vu… 
A few seconds later, it then suddenly struck him what this was: in the ruins in the mountains, in the shadow realm, that large fused magic circle used to confine the flesh of the gods! That magic circle had been drawn by combining elemental runes and sacred symbols!
Gawain revealed a surprised look. "It's the skill dug out from the ruins?"
"That's right." Pittman nodded. "The various kinds of magic circles that you discovered in the ruins at that time have been copied down, but regarding the theurgies, Madam Heidi was stumped studying them, so she got me to help. —— Although Druid theurgies are already lost, as an ancient occupation that attaches extreme importance to legacy, we kept those sacred symbols as pure academic materials the whole time and handed them down. Madam Heidi got me to help with identifying the meanings of those symbols, and through this process, I discovered a daring endeavor of the Gondor Empire…" 
"Daring endeavor?" Gawain frowned. From Pittman's tone, he got a sense of foreboding that this probably wasn't any simple secret. 
Of course, this could also possibly be the little old man's new attempt to cheat for funds. If that was the case, it'd be even easier to resolve: giving him a beating would be enough. —— He was a 700-year-old coffin spirit and a 7-million-year-old satellite spirit. No matter who he beat up on this land, he wouldn't have to worry about being criticized for being disrespectful to the elderly… 
Of course, if someone insisted on saying that him beating up an old man was considered child abuse, then he could only accept it.
Fortunately, Pittman really wasn't cheating for funds this time. "They were attempting to 'search for the interface of divine power'." 
As he spoke, the little old man pointed to those magical patterns carved on the vessels and alchemy platform. "Unless religious doctrines are strictly adhered to, divine power cannot be used by humankind. This is considered a shackle universally acknowledged by the world, but the Master Mages of the ancient Gondor Empire were clearly intending on doing something revolting. Their objective behind designing such a fused magic circle was to bypass some kind of 'prohibition' set up by the gods, so as to utilize the powers of the gods through the forces of magic. Judging from the clues you found in the ruins, they had evidently succeeded, or rather, a portion of their work was successful —— they found the 'access point' of using magical runes to control theurgies. Although given our current technology, we are unable to restore the original set of the complex fused magic circle, nor are we able to create a source powerful enough to drive it, we can still draw lessons from the reasoning of rune arrangements…" 
Not only were the contents of Pittman's speech astonishing, they also seemed rather promising, but Gawain could not help but feel uncertain. "I remember someone had once attempted to use the forces of magic to utilize theurgies, but it all failed. A priest of the Holy Light was even devoured by the Holy Light as such… Are you sure there are no risks to this technique?" 
"The risks definitely exist. All magic has risks, but controlling the risks is a compulsory lesson for us." Pittman nodded. "I also know about those failures you mentioned. We've discussed them the previous time. At present, in my opinion, their failures are actually having gone the wrong way." 
"Gone the wrong way?"
"That's right, gone the wrong way. Those people who attempted to use magic to control theurgies but failed were merely forcefully replacing the symbols in theurgies with elemental runes through the translation of elemental language and the method of substitution. It is just like forcefully replacing every individual word in the elven language into those with similar meanings in humankind's common language and attempting to translate an elven book using such a method. Although all the individual words have been changed, due to differences in language and morphology laws, the product of such replacement can only be unreadable rubbish." Pittman shook his head. "Whereas the Master Mages of the Gondor Empire have done much more brilliantly. They realized that they could not 'translate' divine power using humankind's 'language', so they created a kind of 'interface'. This interface did not try to forcefully translate the symbols in theurgies but drew theurgy circles. Then it would set up magical runes used for control at every critical position and use materials that are both spiritual and magic-conducting to serve as 'transfer mediums' at the input and output stages. Through such a method, they indirectly changed divine power from a 'rigid energy' that can only work through strictly adhering to religious doctrines into a 'flexible energy' like magical power that can be easily used by mortals." 
For some reason, when Gawain heard Pittman's description about forcefully using elemental runes to replace theurgy symbols, what emerged in his mind were the two words, 'machine translation'. 
Was this the otherworldly version of machine translation making people miserable…
Gawain shook his head, casting those unreliable associations about 'machine translation' out, then looked at Pittman, and asked, "So, you've grasped the skill of such 'interfaces'?"
"I cannot say I've completely grasped it. After all, what you had copied back were only some magic circles, and not the Gondor Empire's primary research data. I still have to properly dig into those magic circles before I can figure out the specific theory behind such interfaces." Pittman was not careless in such areas that involved professionalism and risks and answered honestly. "Right now, I've only found some ways of utilizing it and attached it to the Druid's ancient theurgy circle." 
Pittman stroked his beard when he came to this point, a smile appearing on his face. "Strictly speaking, what I'm doing on the Druid theurgy circle is the opposite of what the Gondor Empire Master Mages had done —— they were drawing powers from theurgies, but the Druid theurgies had long become invalid, so the theurgies are no longer able to release energy to the outside. Therefore, I reversed this process, using magical power to 'charge' the theurgy circle, thereby allowing the latter to operate. Of course, there is a measure of waste in this process, but it isn't too big. Under the support of the new Honeycomb Magic Web, the energy waste caused by such inverse change can totally be accepted."
The old Druid lifted his hand and pointed to a certain corner of the set of apparatus on the alchemy platform. "You should have noticed already. It has an interface to connect to the Magic Web left. So, we just have to connect it to the Magic Web, and the power of the Magic Web would convert into energy for the theurgy circle through this 'divine-power inversion circle' on the alchemy platform and as a result, catalyze the potions in these two vessels, just as if there's an ancient Druid priest casting spells on them, turning the ordinary herb juice in the vessels into magic potions…"
After ending the explanation, the old Druid exhaled deeply and turned to Gawain. "Lord, this is the avenue for mass production that I found."


During Gawain transmigration, a little problem occurs.
After hovering in the sky above the land of a strange world for over hundreds of thousands of years, he realizes that perhaps his transmigration is completed by acquiring a physical body.
Never did he imagine that he would have to guide the body out of a coffin after going through great difficulties to obtain it, only to come face-to-face with his two extremely shocked great-great-great-great... great-granddaughters, and also—
Be thrust into a world that's the verge of its era’s end.

In a certain area; somewhere unobtrusively in distant from the World Tree.

The day remains the same as the former; when there is no day or night time in the world where he resides now. The scarlet light in the bright sky remains everlasting, while the ground on the other hand; there is a small little thing slowly begin to change.

Prinz Heilig, who has long been sheltered himself in the trunk of a World Tree; is finally coming out from his seclusion. Being cooped up has driven him to boredom and indolence; therefore he decides to break out. 

All this while he has moved to and fro from the near shrubberies to gather foods and bring them inside – to where he lives. There is also a small irrigation channel where the tree saps flow into it and reach into a small quarry. Knowing that he would need fluid rations, Prinz covers the burrowed irrigation with tree skins. Therefore any fluids' that seep out from the channel and into the soil, would be greatly reduced.

There is also another reason, why he decides to break out right away:

"I have gotten enough at reading those manuscripts! Up to here is where my limit is."

Prinz reflects on his inner upheaval with a stern look.

All the while he has spent too much of time to conclude everything he read. The manuscripts and those records are all written on its own merits. Meaning, there are hundred on symbols and meanings that he has to decipher and infer them one after another. Prinz decides to leave the World Tree to go for an extended journey. This time, he has resolved to accomplish four essential goals. 

To begin with, Prinz wants to collect more manuscripts and records; so that he can comprehend more information, and therefore gains further insights especially about the world he lives now. In fact, he now has a list of pre-requisites and a few conditions he sets to achieve. Among them includes the effort to memorize those new languages from their symbolical meanings. At first, those letters that he learns are foreign to him. Through hard work and patience, he now grasps almost what has been deciphered by their meaning. All these are only possible because they were accompanied by translations. Yet, among those written symbols; written by the dead civilizations of this world are challenging to him – since they are symbols that have no inferred connotations.

In the past, Prinz has collected a few scores of manuscripts and records; but now he desires for more. At this point, he realizes their true values. While diligently comprehending the information, he has also learnt one remarkable detail about the use of Manna energy.

"It seems like I would have to extend my stay here. Even if I said that right now there is no way to leave this place." Prinz laments inside.

The world he lives in has been devoid of another being; at least that is what he knows – for now.

'When there is no place to ask and you are lost, just ensure your own survival; until help arrives. Unless it is too late, and there is no one to help; make your own egress – to the outmost of your own ability.'

"Yuki, I remembered she told me those words before. Now I feel a little optimist!" Prinz comforts himself.

He finds a solace just by remembering her words; unlike what Hikki has told him once:

'You are lost and alone. What else do you need for, when you can be the king of your own kingdom. Just forget about everyone and move one! Make do of what you can outmost do for you – the new king.'

Prinz face-palms himself for remembering those words.

It has also become a habit; wherever he goes, Prinz will neither speak nor deliberately making any sound. To him, be that as it may, seems safe; it is still unclear whether the current world that he lives is inhibiting another living sentient. Thus, he feels the need to let his guard up while keeping extreme cautiousness to the surroundings.

Prinz has also discovered something novel about those countless remains:

"All the dead bodies are just strange. Most of them have had their limbs broken and flesh torn apart; only a minority of the dead remains that I found in one piece; such as the World Eater. Perhaps due to its huge size, that nothing can hurt it. However, it is just eerie to think that there is something can kill the World Eater. In short, if there is another living being; heck even if there is only a medium-sized beastly creature still living in this world; I wouldn't even think about interacting with either of them."

Phil once said these words to him:

'Humans are born with both courage and cowardice. Most with the courage strive to turn their life over for the better. On the other hand, those with the cowardice persevere to live in silence.'

"Would everyone agree with him?" Prinz asks.

However, there is no one else to answer; other than his self.

He, in truth, agrees to a certain degree. With the surroundings, enclosed by countless remains that are left in gruesome states; if Prinz is about to encounter the native living existence that survives in this world, what would they then think and feel about his presence?

Thus, prioritizing for his safety is the ultimate choice. Prinz has never once, let his guard down.

Aside from collecting, Prinz also needs to look for alternatives. The current plants that he has stockpiled would not be able to sustain him for a very long time. He must diversify; as the growth rate of the vegetation that flourishes in the surroundings of World Tree are inefficient and time-consuming. In fact, Prinz has failed from a simple replanting test.

For the test, he would take many of the vegetation roots and plant them under the soil. At random, these roots would grow from the sheer surface of the fertile white soils. Unfortunately, the results are not the same in a different place.

He digs the ground with his two hands, not too deep, and looks underneath. Surprisingly, the soils under are dark-greyish in colour. The sheer amount of white soils forms only a small height of an upper layer with a depth of no less than tens of centimetres.

"Food and fluids are necessary for my survival. Right now, the plenty amount of liquid from the tree trunk is not sufficient, probably by current estimation – definitely; but only able to quench my thirst. If I reduce my consumption rate, I could last a little longer. However, without food, I will rapidly lose my energy. Without energy, I might as well lose my concentration. And I am supposed to cram through all the new-found manuscripts and records!" Prinz deeply laments inside.

He will not survive for much longer. Even if he manages to learn all the foreign letters and languages, they are not matters. If he dies, comprehending the civilizations of this world would be no of use. Therefore, Prinz has determined to find a new liquid source and to obtain sufficient food. These two would last him for as long as he can until he finds the way; out from this world.

He needs to persistently stay cautious. All civilizations and life developments begin from places where water is abundant and the soils are fertile for agriculture. Prinz accepts as true that as soon as he found the new place he has to retreat at once or prepare for a direct confrontation. He would rather carry out the former; although he could not retreat forever.

Once he retreats though, Prinz then has to perform scouting. The new place would pose not as much risk if it is currently in-occupant. Therefore, he can reassure himself that the new place is yet to be civilised and cultivated.  

A memory regarding the unique ability he possesses has also crossed his mind. The ability is called 'Nurturing Growth'; which he has not more than once, used it. Despite this, Prinz remembers that he was only capable to use this ability due to the occurrence of Manna energy. Now there are not any visible signs of energy around him.

Prinz wonders if he can use the same ability again seeing that there is energy in the Imperial Elf's status.

"I strongly believe that I would not be able to utilize Manna energy instantly; though the possibilities are just unknown. Besides, the knowledge that I gained from those manuscripts and records does not physically describe Manna. What is this Manna energy and where it comes from? Neither of these questions is explained. Also, those records do not even teach me the wielding basis. I expect something like; 'Manna energy 101' or 'Manna for dummies' from those. There is some useless info as well, but they are what I determined to be long incantations. For what purpose? A 'magic' spell!? This is not a phantasy M***** series! But, but, at the time I might somehow use my ability as a fluke I guess. That is a one-time chance of occurrence that I have fortuitously managed to use Manna energy. Can't I rely on the occurrence chance again?"

Prinz grieves over on his inability to wield Manna energy. Nonetheless, he is not giving up completely. If he slowly learns and practices to use energy; by chanting the incantations and 'feel the flow' he might succeed. For that very reason, he might understand the essential key to energy and try it out later.

Prinz needs to accomplish this. But why is it important, that he has to do it at the same time while he is on a journey?

All along, there are countless creature remains; not including the humanoid corpses, stranding all over the place. They can be as an intended object, where Prinz could practice his unique ability. While he does not know how to properly wield the energy, the dead carcasses still possess theirs. If he could try out controlling the energy within them, he will learn something new and gains on-hand experience. Thus, Prinz possibly will wield Manna energy with ease soon and circumvent the risk of detriment in case of failure.

All in all, Prinz's aim has always been to look for a way to escape his current predicament. He is not sure if the other worlds are in the same states, or maybe only Earth has been completely destroyed. However, the former has the highest possibility to turn out. After all, the land and the sky that Prinz sees from the beginning until now has constantly unchanged.

The greyish soils and scarlet skies that stretch afar, with limitless boundaries, have ultimately affected his sense in distinguishing directions and referencing time.

"Perhaps too many days, months or even years have long past. Most importantly, I'm still well and alive."

Prinz turns his eyes toward his physical self but disparagingly change the course. He instead considers:

"Regardless of all risks, I refuse to stop; given that, I have persisted and taken all steps to survive. My efforts until now shall not be wasted!"

He consoles and encourages himself from giving up. As a person who realizes that living brings greater values than dead, Prinz justifies his present sole self-interest, as the end motive of all the conscious actions he shall henceforth undertake.

Time passed by quickly.

Prinz is on his journey still, and at this point, he has collected a whole lot of manuscripts and logged them into his memory as assurance. Upon a stroke of luck, Prinz also found an object that glows with rich translucent colours on the inside. At the same time, an opaque-like material is flexibly protecting it from the outside. The fist-sized object looks like a tiny pouch; that can be tightened when he pulls the two threads around the cover. The threads bound the brown pouch from disclosure. He happens to found this pouch from a tall humanoid that appears considerably different from anything he has seen before – ever.

The dead humanoid has fair green skin with no signs of flawlessness all over its body. The silvery-white hair that it possesses is silky and has waving curls that reach down to its knees. The two pointing ears that it has, gives Prinz the impression of an otherworldly being - never seen before on Earth. Not even anything from the folklores can explain its stature and appearance. An air of tranquil is felt whenever Prinz he stands near the dead humanoid.

To not let the chance to identify the humanoid, Prinz touches its crown before a notification immediately is given to him.

[Imperial Elf]
A creature bore by nature and possesses great affinities with the energy of life. All imperial elf kin are born with purity in their soul and share a noble connection with the World Tree. The Imperial Elf's sole purpose is to sanctify the land and nurture plant life.

"An Imperial Elf? An Elf, from the many tales on Earth; exists?"

The limited information that he discovers from the notification gives him quite the shock. He still believes inside that the humanoid has nothing in common from all elf depictions in the folklores. This humanoid has more allure than everything he discerns – from all kinds of fiction elf characters imagined on Earth. Just that something about this humanoid is mysteriously enchanting. He or she is a perfectly beautiful creation.

Near where Prinz comes across the humanoid, he looks through everything that it has. Upon searching through the Imperial Elf clothes, Prinz uncovers a sizeable pouch that fits his fist. It is carefully kept hidden in the clothes and firmly wrapped under his external garment. Because of this, he also discovers the masculinity of the humanoid. When opens inside, he unearths many astounding contents. However, those are not all:

"This pouch that I have looted from him has a secret that is more shocking than just knowing the contents. It has boundless of space with many different items orderly store inside. Inside, I can see there are many kinds of herbs and possibly liquid; those are safe for consumption. Just this tiny pouch is hiding so many mysteries. Yes, I've found a treasure!"

As a man who lives for hundreds of year, his states of mind should have been fully matured; yet Prinz cannot conceals his delight.

"It would be bad if I'm not giving my gratitude to this Imperial Elf. Should I bring his body back with me? After all, he is naturally bonded to the World Tree."

Prinz contemplates for a while; whether deciding to bury the Imperial Elf's remain somewhere near to the World Tree or to not do so. Both choices are morally conflicting to him. On one hand, the former implies him a respectful action, therefore, justifies his intention; while the latter means, he is being ungrateful. After a while, he stops contemplating and grabs the humanoid arms. But, it is physically impossible for him to bring the humanoid back – because he is awfully heavy.

Prinz uses his two arms to pull the humanoid out, yet there is not any effect.

"Ahh, this is difficult. The humanoid is substantially hefty; as if I am trying to lift a gigantic boulder," he sighs inside.

As Prinz is gasping for air while at rest, his weary eyes turn to the pouch. An idea comes to his mind:

"Would it be possible if I use it?"

He is curious whether the pouch can store the Imperial Elf's remain inside. Without delay, Prinz quickly pulls the two threads and opens the pouch – half-closed. He even brings the pouch near to the humanoid body; alas nothing happened.

"How am I supposed to use this thing?"

Prinz grips the pouch on his right hand and inspects the aperture. He does not know how to operate it. To begin with, he has only looked at the pouch as a resource and not as a cause. Frustration overwhelms him as he thinks carefully:
  
"How am I supposed to bring the Imperial Elf inside this pouch then?"

Prinz thrusts his left arm into the pouch on purpose; to grab something from the inside. His hand seems too short to even reach anything within the vast expanse of space inside the pouch.

"I have a theory. What if the pouch relies on the usage of energy? I don't know if I can use energy. Worst of all, I don't even know what is energy. It's just a fluke that I somehow managed to wield it once!"

Prinz grieves over his lack of ability. Despite that, he feels the need to try. He has to once again attempt to use Manna energy.

"I saw on the Imperial Elf's status; that it possesses energy. Just for practice, should I try controlling the energy within him? Who might know, if it works; or not."

Prinz remembers that he has only a single ability and he has experienced the energy control on one occasion. After that, he forgets relatively everything about it. After all, he does not understand the true risk of trying to rely on Manna energy. Thus, he has decided not to do it. It is somehow a different story; should he can control the energy from another being or an object. Right in front of him is a chance to carry out the trial.

"I'm putting behind my morality for a moment and express my regret for using you as an experiment. But to exploit this chance, I must put my self-interest above all. You would definitely understand that I am prioritizing my own survival. The contents inside this pouch would guarantee it. Now that I think about it carefully, this experiment is crucial."

Prinz starts to give all his focus. On multiples occasions, he tries to reiterate the same situation that he once felt before. He unexpectedly remembers:

"In the past, isn't it that I have been thinking about creation? I visualize emergence protection by using Manna in the surroundings. This statement should be true. At the same time, I've been cultivating layers of protection around my head – my consciousness specifically. It succeeded not because of my own energy. The abundant energy that gathers around me; they are somehow assisting but I remembered more about that the dark-coloured Manna energy in the surroundings. The dark energy has greatly boosted my ability. Isn't it that, I am nurturing the Manna energy" Nurturing and cultivating; isn't my granted ability is called Nurturing Growth?"

A sudden realization strikes Prinz deep into his mind.

For hundreds of year, humanity was unable to decipher the secret inside the brain. Until more than 800 years ago, Prinz Heilig and his close colleagues discovered the secret and began to change the way humans perceive the world. Together, they created a Virtual Dimension for humanity and became the exclusive core existences that control it.

However, everything changed one day. During the system upgrade, the world evolved and Prinz was taken into another space. He had been given a chance to revive.

Believing that he was still alive Prinz thought that it was ludicrous to simply accept a revival.

Chapter Four (2)
My father looked around as he saw me enter and said, "I'll be with you in a few minutes, Saria. I'm just in the middle of something. I don't want to break my line of thought."
I just nodded, knowing that a few minutes could easily become hours if my dad was distracted as he looked like he was now. I always had my own projects on the go, so it really didn't matter how long my father took to take note of me.
I went back to my quick refresher of the fabrication language keys that were part of my work ritual. To my surprise when I looked over the papers, I started to see mistakes in the translation of some of the symbols we used for programming. The symbols and their meaning just seemed to leap out at me as if they had always made sense.
Now in my befuddled and confused mind, they were strangely more familiar than my own enclave language. Somehow, I was just sure that our interpretation of some of the symbols was off, and in some cases, misleading.
I shook my head as I thought, How the hell do I just know that? I looked around the room with wonderment, seeing mistake after mistake.
I was tempted to pick up a pencil and make alterations to correct the information on the papers on the wall, but I knew that without a long discussion with my father that it was forbidden to make any such change. He was very defensive about his work as up on the wall was an accumulation of his life's work with his battle to design new items for creation in the fabricator.
Standing in the center of the room with my feet seemingly frozen to the spot for a few minutes, I looked and pondered over what I understood.
What is happening to me? Today is getting just too bizarre! 
It was suddenly as if the symbols and their meanings were all clear to me. Shaking my head to get back into the real world, I moved slowly to one of the consoles that was my normal workstation. I pulled out the heavy wooden chair carefully, as I was still having problems with my abnormal strength. Luckily it only made a bang as it hit the floor with a heavy thud. This drew a strange look from my father as if he was surprised by the noise. Then, distractedly, he looked back at the console he was working on without saying anything.
Typical Dad, I thought. You could have somebody shouting in here and he would just try to ignore them. Come to think of it, Ma has tried to pull him away from work a few times with nagging but he just ignores her. This always infuriates her.
Now I was able to look at the curved console that was a screen and an input device. It was curved like a flat desk at first, but then went up into a vertical section where most of the information was displayed. At that moment, an image of the design I had been working on was still displayed with the programming algorithms surrounding it in text boxes. I started to look through the design information that I had been programming for the past few days.
My goodness, was I drunk when I wrote this programming specification for the fabricator? I wondered as I read through my work.
I frowned as I could see large errors of where I had completely misunderstood the complex code and specification. I tentatively touched the screen, hoping that I would not break anything with my abnormal strength. Nothing seemed to be affected, so I pulled up an input pad on the screen and started to change my code to something much more sensible.
At first, minutes passed and then tens of minutes as I ran through the code. What I had done before seemed to be gibberish to me as the new sequencing specifications became so clear. Finally, with a sigh of happiness accompanied by wonder, I projected the three-dimensional model of the coded item onto the console.
Metal secateurs appeared as they would when they were fabricated within a viewing box on the console. I had been working on simple secateurs to make them lighter and sharper than the hand-crafted tools we used at the moment.
For years, the nursery staff who worked in growing the plants for exports had been begging for some fabricated secateurs. They had hand-crafted tools that the blacksmith made but like anything that was handmade, it was substandard to fabricated tools that often did the job more efficiently.
So, a requirement had come through a few months prior from the enclave council to my father, to creature a set of tools that could be fabricated for the growers. My father had turned this project over to me as a task to do on the side for when more important tasks were not taking up all our work hours.

As the razor-sharp knife I held passed through his scruffy clothing, I felt a slight resistance as it cut into some kind of armor. I guessed he thought that his armor could take my blow, but the expression on his face changed from one of glee to horror as the serrated blade cut open his skin. Twisting the knife, I ripped through his intestines, trying to damage them as much as I could. I quickly pulled my knife back as I danced around to face the next attacker, a woman of about my size. She had a club raised to bludgeon my head.
I sidestepped in an easy move and ducked, seeing the club sail over my head. To the side of me the first man was falling as he grabbed his guts with blood spraying everywhere. When he fell down, two more equally unkempt people stepped forward.
Before they could reach me, I thrust my other knife in an upper cut into the face of the woman with the club. I registered a flash of horror in her eyes as the edge of the knife cut a diagonal line across her face. I sighed as I knew that the damage would be superficial and not fatal, but thankfully she fell back from attacking me.
From my right-hand side, I felt a sharp pain as something pierced my solar plexus and a man holding a club with a tangle of nails pulled back with my blood covering the nails. I didn’t have any more time to think about what was happening to me, as I felt another blow from another attacker. This time the blow was dead-center in my chest where the pouch hung.
My mind turned blank as my thoughts were centered only on the massive amount of pain I was experiencing. This caused me to crumple to the ground, gasping for breath. With deep breaths I pulled in as much air as possible, but it was like breathing in a hot, humid greenhouse.
Once on the ground, by some survival reflex I curled up into a small ball. I was gasping as my heart felt as if pure agony was emanating from it. My hand felt the sticky blood flowing out of the wound. Strangely enough, I vaguely wondered why my hands were now burning as if I had placed them in a fire.
Then from all around me, I started to feel the kicks as the brutal, thuggish pack were determined to finish me off. I could hear the joyful cheers as people shouted out about what they wanted from my possessions as they kicked me.
Suddenly, the burning that had first started in my hands seemed to ignite into an explosion of energy. I felt my chest flash with burning pain. Now instead of the pain of the pummeling from the pack’s rough boots, the more intense pain was the rapid burning that was spreading from my heart to the rest of my body. I felt as if the veins of my body were on fire with burning, acidic lava flowing through them.
The burning heat extended outward as the rest of my body burned with intolerable pain. It was as if the flow of pain was radially extending from my heart being pumped around the rest of my body. While I was in a state of panic, my dominating thought was of the pain that was burning through my entire body. The only thought of relief was that I hoped I’d fall into the darkness of death or unconsciousness. I just expected my mind to shut down with the incredible pain. Then, suddenly, it felt as if the world slowed down.

It had been nearly a month since Loki and Rykar had returned to the village in an attempt to bring their mother back with them.

During the first few days, the atmosphere was bleak as they lost motivation to go on. They passed the time by sitting or simply laying there while staring vacantly into nothingness, occasionally breaking the cycle to numbly nibble at a piece of bread or some berries. The only exposure to the outside of the tree was the odd toilet break.

It was only when they were out of food that they came to a mutual decision to venturing out in search, returning with a variety of roots, berries and fruits along with the refilled water pouches. Such became the routine.

Days would go by without a word being spoken between themselves. Under this lack of communication, functioning as a pair was only made possible due to the intimacy they had built up over the years of familiarity. Their bodies and needs were all but identical in terms of their bodily functions, strengths and weaknesses… However, this began to gradually warp as abnormalities began to surface.

At first, it was barely noticeable, but it became increasingly apparent that Rykar's eating habits were becoming more and more dramatic while he left the room in order to relieve himself less and less frequently. By the time three weeks had passed, he was eating three times more that his brother while having completely lost the need to relieve himself.

It was as though he became a bottomless hole, with food pouring into him and simply disappearing without a trace. At first, he became worried over this, thinking he had fallen ill while anticipating the discomfort it would cause, however instead of feeling as though he was constipated or bloated, he felt full of energy as his previously hallow and depleted frame began to show mild traces of vitality. He then threw the matter to the back of his mind after consulting his brother, who's answer didn't leave him with much to dwell on.

"Are you dumb? We sucked in the ashes of dead people, have grey skin, red and grey eyes, my foot magically healed, and our bones are fixed… but you're sitting there worried about eating more and feeling energetic?" As usual, sarcasm dripped from Loki's answer however the familiar response helped to ease Rykar's mind.

After that short conversation, it was as though the clouds in their minds had been sliced open with a knife. It served as a turning point, opening up conversation between them and bringing things back to the way they had been before.

Unlike in the past, there was never a mention of their mother. Since the conversation they had after returning, it was as though her presence had been erased. Without having to bring it up, her name had become a taboo between them. There had been an unspoken understanding on this as they both consciously tried to block her out while distracting themselves. Through idle conversation, collecting food and games, they actively distanced themselves and repressed their longing and sadness while finding ways to preoccupy themselves.

With nothing much to do between gathering food and sleeping, aside from exploring the forest regions around them, their attention had turned to the collection of books that was spread along the long shelf.

The shelf itself was curved around the circular wall of the room and took up around a third of its surface. It's length of the shelf was divided into five segments around two metres wide with each of the segments having 10 rows extending from the floor to the ceiling. It wasn't possible for the twins to reach the top shelf with their short statures, but they eventually worked around this by pushing the table over to the wall before stacking a chair on top of it, creating a make shift step ladder.

Browsing through the books was just a random thought at first, of course neither of them were able to understand any of the symbols within them, but eventually their curious natures began to find a lot of joy in looking through the pages and finding images among the symbols. Some of the books were even entirely made of images with vivid colours of vast lands, fire breathing serpents or unidentifiable beings made of fire or plants. Monsters and wonderful creatures that had been isolated to their imaginations were given life in the books, given a projection in a lifelike manner which left them fascinated.

It became an obsession, a thirst for knowledge despite it consisting of things they couldn't even comprehend. It was like studying art, without knowing the intentions of the artist, they began to bring their own meanings to the pages. They would look through the pages of text and analyse the shapes and curves of the lettering, some looking like blocks, some like hieroglyphs and some having shapes that flowed like serpents across the pages.

It wasn't necessary for them to understand what they were reading, sometimes they even decided to give meanings to the stories themselves. It was just a matter of needing to see something they hadn't seen before.

Among these, there were also many which depicted the human body in various poses with arrows and symbols covering the blank spaces on the page as though trying to gesture and explain the contents of the diagrams.

From then on, it became a part of their routine to sit and simply flick through the books and scrolls, page by page, book by book scroll by scroll. Whether the cover was glamorous and decorated, plane and unadorned or even ripped and tattered, they had no intention of leaving it unturned.

"When are we going to go get some meat?! You decided you want the bow but what have you done with it besides whisper b*llshit and play soldier. You couldn't hit a rabbit even if it seasoned itself and sat on your plate." Rykar groaned out as he threw the last of the mulberries into his mouth.

Over the last month, they hadn't eaten anything apart from berries, fruits and the last of the bread they had saved. Even while back in the village, this was their staple diet however their mother would spice it up every week and sneak some rabbit or boar from the distribution tent if they asked often enough.

As Rykar's appetite had been expanding rapidly, he began to feel less and less content with their current diet.

Hearing his brother's complaint, Loki payed no attention. Continued to slowly flick through a large book with metal corners with one hand while using the other to precisely pick out berries from his pile of fruit and deliver them to his mouth.

"I said that I want the bow and you agreed. So, the bow is mine. Why should I go out of MY way to go get meat for YOU with MY bow? You have daggers sitting on your waist doing f*ck all, go get yourself some." Loki mumbled back with a disinterested voice while putting subtle emphasis on the 'my' and 'you'.

"We already agreed that all food is shared. If I go get some, I know you'll say you want half so I ain't going to get it on my own." Rykar huffed while throwing himself onto the bed before looking up with a glint in his eyes. "Actually, fine. I will go. But from now, all the food we get doesn't have to be shared unless we want to. Deal?"

Loki paused for a second before looking up at Rykar with a dazzling smile plastered on his face, "Not a chance." he directly declined. When they initially came to the tree house, they agreed that the food they collect would be split evenly between them when they get back,

This arrangement was a good way for them to share their earnings in the case that one of them found fruit that was tastier than the other managed to, they wouldn't end up miserable. They also devised this way of equal sharing so that one wouldn't go hungry due to bad luck while searching or in the case that one of them was injured or sick.

At first this had worked perfectly and there were no complaints but recently this arrangement had turned into a shackle for Rykar and a blessing for Loki. Due to Rykar's bloated appetite, he left the treehouse two or three times more often than Loki in order to find food, causing him to bring back a substantially larger amount. There were many times when Loki would join him, but realistically he could simply spend all of his time in the treehouse reading books while still living comfortably off the efforts of Rykar after he returned and grudgingly split his spoils.

Dissatisfied, Rykar had complained many times but once they made a deal between them, unless they both agreed to cancel it, their always held to their words.

However, rules are meant to be broken.

The deal had stated that the food they collect was to be split… didn't that just mean that he should eat the food on the spot instead of collecting it? In this manner, Rykar ate his fill while he was out by extending his gathering sessions. After which, he would bring back enough food to last a while, which would then be split between himself and Loki.

"Ah, I have a secret I forgot to tell you! Do you wanna hear it now or later?" Rykar questioned but without giving Loki a chance to decline, he continued, "You're a f*cking leech."

"You realise we're twins right? Takes one to know one" Replied Loki while directing his attention back to his fruits, which just happened to be brought in by Rykar earlier.

Jumping off the bed, Rykar Began to pack a bag with a water sack and other supplies before strapping it to his bare upper body. He then reached under his sheets and pulled out the thing he had deliberately been keeping concealed.

Making a point of his latest achievement, he twirled it between his hands before slinging it over his right shoulder, which was now without any traces of dirt and free from the previous tattered clothing. This caused it to display a shocking black tattoo running from his shoulder down his entire arm, forming a complete sleeve which concluded at the back of his palm.

"Fine, I made a net earlier, I don't need your help. I'll just go catch something and cook it there. Don't worry I'll make sure not to wipe my hands before I come back, that way when they come back with juices on them, you can suck your half of the meal off them like the leech you are"

"Now that you mention it… you're right. Our diet is pretty boring latel- I mean, it can't be healthy to only eat stuff like this mhm. I guess we should hunt together aye brother… for health reasons" Loki hollered, dashing over to his bed and readying a bag before snatching his bow, with a similarly tattooed right arm, and chasing after Rykar who had already left the opening.

Karl looked at the black window that was in front of him.

[Your God has chosen to transcend, leaving this universe without a god. Due to this, the system will pick someone to become the new god.]

Karl rubbed his eyes, checking to see if he was hallucinating. It was still there. Karl reached out and tried to touch the window, but his hand went through it. 

"I'm going crazy. I must've read too many system novels, and now this is happening," Karl said, staring at the black window. After a while, the window disappeared, and a new one appeared in front of him.

[Congratulations! Out of the numerous sentient life forms in this universe, you were picked to become the new god. You will now be transported to your console.]

Karl laughed. "I really must be going cra-"

As he was talking to himself, a white spot appeared in the middle of the window. Karl squinted his eyes, looking at the white spot that wasn't there before. The spot grew bigger, and bigger until the window was all white. It was bright, but his eyes adjusted to it. The white window started leaking white, covering the whole room in white, except Karl.

"What.... the.... fuck..." Karl said, looking around, and seeing his room turn white. Eventually, his whole room was white, and he was sitting on the floor. Or was there even a floor? Everything was so white it blinded his eyes. He stood up, looking all around him.

 [Welcome to your console. It's quite empty right now, but this is where you'll manage your universe. Every aspect of the console can be controlled by you. You can create anything you want in the console, but bringing it into your universe will cost points.]

"Am I a god?" Karl asked, looking at the window in front of him.

[Yes you are. The universe that you knew is gone now. Whenever there's a new god, the universe is reset. As the new god, please name your universe. Choose carefully as fellow gods will be able to see this.]

It finally sunk into him that he was a god now. Everything that has happened can only be explained if this is all true. Now that he was a god, he had to name his universe. He was going to make the best universe, better than the universe the old god made. He thought long and hard about the name. He wanted the name to be cool. His eyes lit up, realizing what name he wanted.

"I shall name my universe, Nui," Karl said, confidently.

"Yes, I am."

Karl was your typical teenager. He hated homework and was absolutely obsessed with videogames. The only thing that might come close to that was his obsession with webnovels. They were just so addicting. He stayed up day, and night, playing and reading his webnovels. One day, as he was laying down on his bed, and reading a webnovel, a black window popped up in front of him, similar to something you'd see in a game.

All the way until the 98th Amaryllis which was collectively provided energy by the previous 97 Amaryllis.
Which means, there are 97 array formations here with 97 layers of energy each with greater power from the preceding Amaryllis.
"According to the pattern now, the 99th Amaryllis will be right here! This is the core of the next energy center! You will benefit more than the other places in here!" Xin Huo said.
Zhong Yue sat down and emulated the totem patterns of the array formation as he tried to link himself like the 99th Amaryllis to the array formations. Immediately as the link was established, a strong wave of energy overfilled his Yuan Shen secret realms, and inflated his body like a balloon!

The totem patterns were the manifestation of various subjects, even the most primitive ones contained the Dao of the heaven and earth; while when one is visualizing the totem patterns, he is also indirectly manifesting the power of Dao.
Thus, as the Ancestral Star's Dao was impaired, the totem patterns the Ancestral Star Qi Practitioners could learn and visualize were also inherently impaired; leading to the reduce of power for everything that were based upon the totem patterns, such as the arts and skills, the array formations, the soul weapons and even the divine weapons.
Which was why to those like Zhong Yue who came from the first Six Paths World, they would see a sudden leap in power if they were able to repair the flaws in their totem patterns!
The process, however, varies greatly accordingly to one's cultivation base, knowledge and their arts and skills. There were even more of the Yang and Yin lines in his his Dao Yi Realm, their changes were much more vigorous and complex. After all, his main focus was still to attain the Innate True Soul with the help of the Six Paths Fruit and this perfect cultivation location.
Two days later, there were even more of the Yang and Yin lines concomitant with more symbols and also more heads. Billions of symbols were flitting like lights around him, it was truly a stunning scene.
On the Bi An Precipice, Bi and An were looking from far and they were shocked.
"This cousin of ours seemed to be very strong." Bi said, "These symbols, even we don't have such a strong calculatory art."
"I wonder how much can he reap out of this ten days?" An said curiously.
"Maybe not even ten days. They are at our birth and death place, there are far too many abstrusities for them to attain there. At this rate he is going now, he will eventually reach his limit before the ten days arrive." Bi said, "Most probably, he will last for another three days at most."

Things You Should Know
Honestly, judging from the title itself, one’s initial impression would be that the story is simply another boring and cliche cultivation novel. Or at least, that was what I thought at first when I was first introduced to this novel by a friend. But to my surprise, and most likely to yours, (if you read it, that is ...) you will soon come to realize that the plot gets very interesting, involving many characters from the ancient and primeval eras of Chinese mythology.
Every story has their own charms, and every character has their own tale to tell. And this, is the tale of a young man fighting not for himself, but for the betterment of humanity. The plot starts to get really good at around chapter 50-ish, and that’s when the roller coaster starts to rise higher and higher to never come down again (literally, it ended in a climax).
