Those who were around when it all happened never realized just how much it would change our world. Things that we took for granted in our everyday life have now become privileges for a select few, the ones who had money before our realities crashed around us. There were signs everywhere but we enjoyed our entitled lives and paid no mind to the things we thought would always be around.  
The world came to a relative end to standard living in 2021. The wars of religion seemed meager in comparison to what occurred. Everyone acted blind sided and shocked when the truth of the biological war that broke out and changed society forever. The truth was the dominant world governments knew about it but kept society in the dark. While most people lived their lives in blissful ignorance some saw the signs and knew what was coming. 
Dai Jinko one of the worlds largest economies and countries had long been rising in power economically as well as military power. Standard warfare seemed to be often long hard fights that devastated everyone's economy regardless if they took part in the actual fighting. Sadly the communist mentality or the Dai Jinko government blinded its own people and by the time the common people realized what was going on it was far to late. 
In mid 2019 a virus was found in Dai Jinko. The initial deaths from this virus were very high. Dai Jinko said it was a mutation viral infection reporting that they were doing their best to maintain and come up with a vaccine for the virus. This new virus was beyond what many had seen, its infection rate was high and the mortality rate at an astounding fifty percent. The Dai Jinko scientific community said it was due to it being a completely new viral infection that people had no immunities to. Some believed the lies. 
By the end of 2019 there was a whistle blower from Dai Jinko. A Dai Jinko biochemical engineer from one of the military support facilities fled the country, he fled to Nord seeking asylum for information about the new Dai Jinko Virus that the media lovingly dubbed the Jinko flu. It was anything but a flu. 
The Scientist hid his identity from the public but he was found shortly after revealing his labs research on the virus. The scientist claimed he was head of research in the Viral warfare research lab in Dai Jinko. His lab had been petitioned to create a super virus. Splicing portions of hard hitting viral infections like HIV, Pneumonia, Ebola, even portions of simple viral infections like the common flu, strep and even MRSA in order to make it appear as if it was a mutation of a seasonal flu. 
By the time this information was readily available to the public millions had died. From June to December Dai Jinko had managed to "contain" the viral outbreak. The rest of the world held its breath and prayed to the many religious Gods to spare them from the wrath of what everyone thought was nature.
When the scientist defected from communist Dai Jinko, not only did he bring information about the virus and how it was created but he also brought information on how it was released. The Dai Jinko Government was fighting over population specifically in major cities. Important essential government workers and families were quarantined and were given supplies to last 2 years. Some holed themselves inside their vacation homes outside of the major cities, while other lived in a designated bunker while the government released the viral infection to the populace. Releasing the virus through the air systems in businesses, shops and grocery stores. None of the major cities in Dai Jinko were spared and their population halved by the beginning of 2020. 
Once this information was leaked to the unsuspecting rest of the world a global panic set in. When the scientist disappeared Dai Jinko shut down their borders. They had already began releasing the viral agent in shipments and packages around the world. Dai Jinko being a leading manufacturing state of goods globally no one was spared, even if they were travelers carried the virus back home from vacation and business travel. The world quickly realized no one was safe from the virus and panic ensued. 
The only thing that Dai Jinko did wrong was releasing the virus before they had a vaccine made. The only thing that could be concluded is they miss calculated how contagious and infectious the Jinko flu would be. Those infected showed signs and symptoms of those related to HIV patients with immune system weakness while gaining symptoms of pneumonia and some even developing signs of Ebola lesions. Though not every patient showed the same signs and others varied in severity. The only thing every patient had in common was their immune systems shut down. Immune systems were confused and weakened, the virus like most infections took two weeks to fully develop symptoms and by the time you had your first symptom it was a matter of time for most people. 
The infection didn't discriminate, young, old, healthy, sick, no one was safe. Some families got lucky those usually living in more isolated locations had a better chance. Less population less viral infection though this was not always the case.
The first city to be hit hard was The City of Imin, all parts. Having a dense populous was not in the cities favor. The disease had been circulating the city streets before we even really knew what was happening. We knew what Dai Jinko would tell us, though them being a communist country the information was always biased and limited. Miss information in this aspect worked in Dai Jinko's favor and against everyone else. 
Nord's major cities all along the coast were the next to take a large hit. Thein was hit like a tidal wave with the sick and it spread from there. Any city that had an International airport was no longer safe. Lock downs and quarantines started. 
Cities once flooded with waves of people were barren seemingly over night. Internet videos started first from nurses and physicians, the fear palpable on their faces. Many of the creators were wracked with tears sobs and panic for the things they were seeing and doing. Doctors quickly became grim reapers, deciding who had a higher chance of survival than other patients. People who had any kind of illness were almost automatically told they would die from infection. The Government on all levels was trying to do damage control and save those they could, though it did not make health care workers lives any easier. 
While panic and total Government shut down occurred globally economies disappeared over night. Though some did what they could within a year whole families were devastated and food shortage prevalent. If you managed to survive the viral pandemic ravaging the globe, you may not have been so lucky to survive the economic collapse and starvation that happened after. 
After a year of the pandemic a vaccine was still in the process of being created. With all of the virus' characteristics and splices from other known deadly diseases made creating a vaccine nearly impossible. 
There was a ray of hope in a way from a Biological research company that was prevalent in research involving bionic human organs. Where this was still very experimental, a lot of people took the chance when their families were ravaged by disease and hunger. The first release was bionic lungs, most affected by the disease usually ended up dieing from pneumonia complications, essentially slowly drowning to death. Many of the people who were considered immunodeficient, volunteered their bodies to the research to hope to save those who remained. 
Desperation drove these heroic individuals and history would see them as humanities saviors as well as humanities downfall.

The lights overhead hummed with electric charge as the rooms disinfectant mist system buzzed and released an almost invisible mist of disinfectant that smelled a cheap perfume, bleach, chlorine, and citrus. The smell started Ayla from her restless sleep. Ayla sat up blinking rapidly forcing her eyes and mind adjust and pull her mind from the nightmare memory she faced only moments ago.

Morgana check the doctor's temperature and asks the system to do an X-ray to see if there is a problem with the doctor's lungs. David, Martin, and Arriane went out to the woods to find a good location for their new house, leaving Morgana behind to tend to the doctor

Morgana walks out of the room in a hurry to go see Daisy and give her the recovery pills for all the people in the house.

Morgana knocks on the door of Daisy's room when she reaches it. She gave her the recovery pills and told her to take one before she asks the system to do an X-ray procedure with Eric.

Morgana nodded as she heard the system, she then turned to Daisy and asks her to give everyone in the house a recovery pill and asks her to come back as soon as she was finished to watch Eric while she was checking the newborn baby's condition. Daisy nodded and walked out of the room to give everyone a recovery pill. She went straight to Simeon and Mariana's room as she knew that the couple's body Constitution is weaker than all the people in the house.
Hen Daisy returned, Morgana walked out of the room in a hurry to check the baby " Crown" and see if the baby is also infected.
When Morgana knocks on the door of Fae's room, Fae didn't open the door, instead, she only asks Morgana to come in.
Far: Morgana, it's you. Fae said crying while holding the baby in her arms. I'm sorry, I can't open the door myself. Crown has a fever, it was so sudden. Another week flew by and as the Lunar New Year drew closer, many corporations started to break for the new year. It was the 23rd of the 12th month in the lunar calendar and early that morning, Shu Man and her mother went to the market that sold New Year goods and purchased quite a few items. They mainly bought fruits and some snacks as well as some chicken, duck, and fish. These were the basic goods that every family would buy before the Lunar New Year. 
Her sister had even given them a lot of seafood and fruits yesterday, so they prepared even more than usual for this Lunar New Year. 
Both Shu Man and her mother wore masks that covered their mouths it was already late morning by the time they returned with a trolley full of goods.
After they cooked a bowl of noodles, they sat down to watch some television. The afternoon news was airing on television at the moment and recently, the news would often report about the RES respiratory syndrome and this reflected the top concerns of the public. 
In the past three months, there was a viral respiratory infection that had initially originated from South Asia but since this infection could be mistaken for flu in its early stages and it first appeared in a densely populated country in South Asia with poor medical resources. It was only discovered after close to 10,000 people had been infected by it and reported in the news.
This respiratory syndrome was like the SARS virus outbreak more than 20 years but it was more infectious than SARs since it could spread by contact and through the air. Its main symptoms were fever, chills, cough, shortness of breath, muscle aches, diarrhea, nausea, stomach pain, etc. Those with weaker immune systems like the elderly or children was the most susceptible to it. At the moment, it was reported that there were more than 10,000 cases and more than 70% of the cases were made up of children younger than 10 years of age and the elderly who were more than 55 years of age. The statistical mortality rate was as high as 17% which surpassed the SARS virus.
At the moment, the news was currently reporting the newest cases of the week and the number of deaths this week, as well as the countries and cities that have new cases.
Several cases had been discovered in Country Z last month and even Ye City had more than 50 such cases.
"Mum, I think you should stay indoors during this period," Shu Man said grimly as she looked at her mother.
Her mother was frail and elderly, so she wouldn't be able to fight such an infectious virus.
Madam Shu said, "I'll just be playing mahjong at the mahjong center in this residential area and head out to do some grocery shopping once in a while." She wouldn't stray too far from their area.
Shu Man replied, "Don't go anywhere. You shouldn't even leave the house before this infectious disease has been contained. I'll do the grocery shopping."
Madam Shu was speechless.
She was about to say something when several knocks could be heard at the door.
"Who's there?" Shu Man and her mother looked toward the door.
The person outside did not respond but continued knocking.
The knocks continued for some time.
"I'll go take a look," Shu Man said as she headed to the door. "Who are you?"
"Mum, did you order some takeout or did you order something online?" she asked. Normally, these random strangers at the door were deliverymen. 
Madam Shu frowned and looked bewildered as she said, "I didn't." She was an old woman, so why would she order takeaway?
The person outside knocked once more and this time, the stranger at the door knocked even louder, so the women inside the house were a little worried.
They couldn't figure out who could be at the door since this stranger did not speak but merely continued to knock at the door.
Shu Man's hands moved away from the door handle. They didn't live in a luxurious neighborhood so the security here wasn't that great.
"I'll call the police if you keep that up!" Shu Man yelled and she could make out a blurry figure through the peephole but she couldn't see this person's face. She could only see that the stranger was in a black shirt that seemed to be masculine. The person standing outside was clearly a man and he stood very close to the door.


Married rich for three years with no child born. Just when she was finally cured of infertility and ready to give him a child, he brought home his pregnant mistress in high profile. 

"Get lost if you can't get knocked up. Or do you want my son to be the last of the Mo family?" her mother-in-law viciously cursed. 

Her husband grimly shoved a divorce agreement upon her face, "I've signed. Leave when you are ready."

These were the teachings of Lord Krishna as narrated in Shrimad Bhagvat Gita, as he continued his preaching right in the middle of the battlefield of Kurukshetra to break Lord Arjuna free from his emotional dilemma and enable him to raise his weapon for good against his own cousins, the Kauravas.
These excerpts till date hold a significance beyond measure, an epitome of life in itself. They clearly state that it is a human's duty to execute his routine day to day activities without expecting anything in return, "Hard work always pays off! Doesn't matter when or where, but every work we do be it good or bad has a way of reflecting back unto us." Definitely a quote worthy to be followed conscientiously without faltering even once. But how often are we able to actually execute our duties without putting off our work for tomorrow?  Frankly speaking, "I'll finish this task tomorrow" is a thought which frequently passes through our minds and we simply obey it nonchalantly.
Then there are other times when we put all our efforts into one singular venture with an overzealous attitude and unparalleled passion, hoping against hope to succeed at least once. We may not know where the road leads to but we are aware of the fact that we need to give our best shot and patient WAIT, and that period of uncertainty exhausts all our brain cells in it's entirety. 
Waiting for something is a hard process. You hope for a certain thing but you are not sure of the outcome in the end. Will you achieve it? Or will your hopes get shattered? Only the right moment reveals it to you.
It is a general rule, "To try numerous times and fail till you finally succeed in the end." But what if you lose all your motivation to persistently try along the way? Do your mental faculties allow you that much liberty to keep striving continually despite witnessing your dreams getting broken into fragments in a repetitive fashion, without letting that intense pain smolder your very core? Words are afterall merely an assembly of meaningless letters, quotes are merely the conclusive values derived from stories that lose all significance unless they are acted upon.
"What is the point of it all if you don't have what it takes to be who you aspire to be?", A question all of us have pondered upon by ourselves at least once in our lifetime, yet these are just hollow words thrown together to encourage ourselves to do everything in our power to fulfill our desires, be it scoring well in examinations, getting selected with top rank in entrances, getting through in a job interview or marrying the one you love. 'Nothing is impossible', yet at the same time 'Nothing is easy' if you think rationally. And the numerous obstacles faced along the way can either throw you off guard altogether or make you stronger till there is no fear left anymore. There is no in between. The emotional burden can tend to be so huge that you yourself may not know what to do with it. Be it despair, anger or envy at seeing your fellow colleagues or mates succeed whilst you lost a chance again; the effect of cumulative stress induced can be disastrous leading to a state of mental insufficiency that the individual may never recover from if not saved on time. You may have your parents alongside all through that phase of internal turmoil yet you may find yourself in the nadir of depression unbeknownst to your mother, father, relatives and friends. 

Preparing for a career in the field of medicine is no different. It is a fact, "Once a student, always stays a student, no matter where he or she goes". But this aspect of an adult life holds especially true in the field of medicine. Once you truly start there's no stopping till you meet your maker. Infact you become a subject of examination for your juniors once you are in your grave. Thus, goes the saying " A doctor is born a scholar and dies a scholar." 

So she believed. Born in a family of Doctors, afraid of ever becoming one herself, Prisha was terrified of the responsibility that came with this noble profession. The thought that one day she may end up murdering someone by accident while operating scared her immensely. Thus, she avoided each and every discussion her parents tried initiating about her future. She wanted to pursue space science and become an established scientist at NASA instead. She graduated from school with top marks in all science subjects be it biology, chemistry and physics yet  fell short of merit in Mathematics and thus lost her chances of getting into IISER. Her parents subsequently found an opening and convinced her to drop a year for medical coaching. She had no other choice but to accede to their demands and so, began her private coaching. She couldn't make it through with her desired college for the first two years and thus, dropped thrice. The third time she decided to change the coaching institute. Those 2 years had taught her of the virtue of patience that she was determined to carry throughout her life with her.
It was January 2030 when Prisha finally began taking regular coaching classes at Allen, Kota. That was the year that a major epidemic had hit major provinces of Japan. All the citizens of Kyoto and Tokyo had succumbed to the attack of a virulent strain of retrovirus RVHZ-1000 which had an additional capability to propagate via contact and aerosols as well. By December of 2030, around 10000 Japanese citizens had died of major respiratory and cardiac failure and a minor population, roughly around 2000 eliciting neuropsychiatric episodes of seizures and spinal paralysis which ultimately resulted in death. All the medical hospitals at Japan had failed at finding a possible cure and thus, research trials were still ongoing to find a secure vaccine against the recently evolved strain of HIV. Simultaneously, research trials were going in US, Great Britain, France, China and India; as the incidence rates seemed to be increasing with the passage of time and quarantine measures were an absolute requirement. Doctors had died in multitude after the sudden outbreak in Japan following contact with live cases. By the beginning of 2031 despite the immediate quarantine measures and extensive antiretroviral regime, the viral strain had spread through the neighbouring countries of Japan. For a few months some major antiretroviral medications like Efavirenz and Ritonavir seemed to be functioning quite effectively to atleast prolong the lives of the patients by a few months but by July 2031 patients started dying suddenly, the causes being varied, some of cardiac failure, a few of renal failure, maximum of respiratory distress and then there were others who had neural dysfunctions. But the pathogen detected in highest concentrations in all affected cells happened to be the antiretroviral strain RVHZ-1000.
Thus, by December 2031 more than 15 lakh people all over the South East Asian belt had died and WHO recorded it as the greatest pandemic to have effected the globe in over two centuries. Meanwhile in India, an insidious spread had already started, from West Bengal affecting all of the Eastern Coast and Deccan Plateau. Prisha by then had enrolled as a first year medical student in one of the renouned colleges in Delhi and was learning the basics of anatomy, physiology and biochemistry. She may not have aspired to be one yet she had great reverence for the profession in itself and the selfless work carried out by the doctors. Thus, she learnt to love the subjects as she went ahead with her semester examinations and clinical case discussions. All medical professionals, including Prisha's parents, all over Eastern Coast and the Deccan Plateau were recruited in major health camps and isolation centres especially constructed to treat RVHZ-1000 infected cases and simultaneously keep the further infectious spread among general population at bay. 
In an era where the general population relied on smartphones and had grown sharp enough to refer Google for any health related advice. In a decade where the mistrust against Doctors grew stronger than ever before, these doctors were risking their own lives by exposing themselves to one of the most virulent strain of pathogen to have ever existed on the planet. This realisation in itself made Prisha feel prouder of her parents and their decision to push her into the medical field. 
The government of India had started recruiting volunteers from amongst MBBS and PG students to work at ICMR centres all over India to conduct research on RVHZ-1000 strains in order to invent an effective vaccine before the advent of 2031. Prisha having the nature and spirit of a benevolent and caring doctor couldn't resist the call and consulted her parents to acquire their consent for the same. Although she knew that the risks were fatal and that innumerous students had already died after having contracted the infection from the laboratory strains, she knew she had to be a volunteer for the sake of the country and the entire world. Her parents didn't agree as they were petrified of losing her to the calamity like all others who lost their children to the viral strain. It took over a year for Prisha to finally convince her parents to allow her to be a part of the Eradication Research Programme. So she finally joined the ICMR centre at Pune in the year 2032 as a volunteer in the vaccine creation programme. The details of the programme had clearly been explained to her before she legally signed the contract and she exactly knew what she was signing into. She might have left the details out and twisted the truth somewhat to meet her needs in front of her parents but she was determined. She knew someone had to be sacrificed to protect the major chunk of the world population and she was ready to be the victim. She had toiled for years to reach that point and that had made her resolve stronger. If her death could give lives to others, she was prepared to face it and thus, began her rigorous training. There were 5 other subjects alongwith her in the programme. All of them were made to do routine exercises for 5 hours early in the morning, followed by their regular medical classes as per their semesters and they had to give sufficient amount of input into gaining knowledge related to all viral strains, classification, spread modalities, treatment procedures, antiviral medicines already available in market and the vaccines discovered till date. That regime had to be followed for the first 4 months, after which the mainscale operation was scheduled. The researchers were supposed to inject attenuated strains of the virus to record the immune responses against it. The previous batches of subjects couldn't survive the anaphylactic reactions triggered and thus, succumbed to death. But the researchers seemed to be hopeful that at least this time they would hit a major breakthrough. Prisha, on the other hand was both scared and hopeful. It was natural to be scared of her imminent chances of death, the thought that she may never be able to see her parents again frightened her to the core yet, she had that one tiny glimmer of hope that she may actually survive the procedure. She rationalised that even if she happened to die at least she was an active member of a noble initiative. 
The official research trials began by October, 2032; unfortunately three of Prisha's new friends couldn't survive the reactions. Their parents were finally informed. Prisha never really met them but she did hear the rumours. Kairav's parents were extremely proud of his efforts for his nation and the entire earth. Both his parents were senior doctors in the army and so even though he was a single child they took the fall bravely. Samaira's parents were too shocked and thus, couldn't handle the terrible news. They had to take psychiatric help to handle the depression. Aarav was an orphan so his funeral was conducted within the institute's premises. Slowly but surely, the rest of the subjects started manifesting with the symptoms of respiratory distress, allergic reactions and more. It was a constellation of symptoms that had never been recorded in any medicine book. The researchers made sure to note each and every bit of progress minute wise. They had a diary for each of the subjects including Prisha. Sadly the rest of her mates, passed away one after the other. Hence, though she managed to survive all fatal reactions unscathed it was an unfortunate turn of events for her. Gradually she regressed to a depressive state recurrently thinking about the moments she spent with each of them, and that they didn't deserve to die. Frequently she found herself wondering why she was the sole survivor when all the others couldn't fight against the infection. Finally, the Supervisor conducted a counselling session to keep her mentally as well as physically stable so that her clinical symptoms don't aggravate. And thus, began stage 2 of the trials in India.
Meanwhile at Japan, the death toll kept on rising. A few cases were reported in United States as well and thus, they were quarantined. Off the Pacific Coast, an entire fleet of Navy had been strictly instructed not to step foot ashore as soon as the reports of outbreak of clinical symptoms similar to the one caused by that rare strain of virus reached the respective Governments. People were suffering all over the world. That was one irrevocable fact that Prisha had instilled within herself to continue ahead with her trials. She stayed updated with all the relevant news to ensure that her mind stays strong despite all the physical pain and mental torment.
The researchers finally conducted a thorough investigation of the blood samples, CSF samples, sputum samples and tissue biopsy samples collected from Prisha; compared the analysis data with the previously collected samples. They even conducted a genetic screening to pinpoint the exact pathophysiology of the disease and to find out the conclusive evidence as to why Prisha alone, managed to stay alive; sick yet the sole survivor till that moment.
Apparently, Prisha's respiratory cells lacked certain protein factors that aided the virion antigen to initiate the disease mechanism. The evasive mechanism was similar to the one which normally exists in few individuals who lack the co-receptors CXCR4 and CCR5 for HIV infections on CD4 T helper cells and thus, the HIV virus is unable to bind to the T lymphocytes.
Once the conclusion had been derived, the researchers had a basic clue as to how to formulate the vaccine. They sought out help from United Nations, WHO and the other governmental bodies by supplying the piece of information they had meticulously unearthed.
The Chief supervisor of Prisha's trial explained the results of the evaluation to her and asked her to convey the same to her parents. It was then that she disclosed her secret, that she hadn't explained the research protocol to her parents before joining the programme and was apprehensive that even though she had been officially declared as an immune subject her parents would feel devastated that they could have easily lost their one and only child. The Chief supervisor assured her that she would help her sort everything out with her parents. Both of them being renouned medicine physicians, their expertise was of paramount importance for the Eradication programme to fulfill its true objective.

Thus, the propaganda which began with a mere medical student helped provide hope to people whose future seemed bleak. 
With the combined efforts of WHO, ICMR and the governments of Japan, US, China and France; the world's first antiviral drug against RVHZ-1000 was manufactured in 2034. By 2035, the first clinically effective vaccine against RVHZ-1000 came to the forefront. The credits were given to all the deceased students who had originally volunteered to be a part of the programme. An extensive vaccination drive revolutionised the medical field and the entire world in 2036 with a clear goal, to eradicate the evolved retroviral strain by 2045. Laws were formulated so that each and every citizen could be compulsorily vaccinated against the virus. 
In the year 2040, a book was published which went on to become the bestseller within 2 weeks. It was authored by Dr. Prisha Dwivedi, an accomplished neurosurgeon working at AIIMS, Delhi in India. The title of the book, "Stars in the sky": Although, Stars are fiery celestial spheres which burn themselves out over a period of millenials they keep twinkling in the darkest of nights illuminating the pitch blackness of the sky as miniscule natural light bulbs till all of their fuel has been exhausted. Similarly, those deceased before Prisha joined the programme, gave their lives to protect others for as long as they could and as far as their breath would permit. It was a biography created as a tribute to those who sacrificed their lives for their profession, true Doctors till their hearts stopped beating and beyond; a beautiful chronicle of Prisha's journey starting from her childhood, an elaborate account of the struggles faced by a medical aspirant all through coaching till the day she got the news of having secured the relevant rank required to qualify for the medical college of her choice, her desperate efforts to study throughout nights just to barely pass in the semester examinations and finally finding her way as a practitioner, alongside realising what it actually means to be a doctor, the sacrifices demanded of her for the sake of the rest of the community, all of it in one voluminous novel; that was endeared by people far and wide within India as well as in abroad.

Through thick and thins we persevere like no other. Bravery is a mere abstraction not everyone is capable of exhibiting. Now the question arises, who is a brave martyr in all honesty? One who remembers to show off or one who never bothers to mention the deed despite the need? Read this short story. Who knows? You might arrive at a more justified answer than anyone can fathom! Arriving at the village, both Qirui and Qin Jian saw villagers who has fell on the ground while letting out a painful screams full of pain and agony.

"Argghhh, it hurts so much, please help...arghhh!", cried out a weak old-lady who was rolling on the ground in pain.

"It hurts so much...arghhh! Just kill me!", cried out a middle-aged man who couldn't endure the pain.

Many such painful shouts and screams came from a whole group of people, who were rolling in pain all over the ground.

Seeing such a scenario, both the brothers were stumped.

[Just what has happened since we left? Why are so many people lying on the ground screaming and crying out in pain?]

Although they had a lot of questions in their minds, nevertheless, they knew that this wasn't the time to be thinking about them.

Soon the two saw a few other Villagers helping out the "sick" Villagers that were screaming in pain and bringing them towards the Village Square; the two immediately joined in and helped out those people and brought the sick Villagers to the Village Square.

Soon the Village Square which was at the centre of the Village and where the Villagers used to commemorate various festivities and joyous moments, was filled with sick people who were laid there on stretchers and the whole atmosphere had become gloomy and filled with painful screams.

Qin Jian and Qirui soon understood the situation, it turned out that there was some sort of infection that had spread in the Village and many Villagers got infected.

All the infected shared the same symptoms which were that they had blood-shot eyes and pale white-dots all over their skin. In addition to it, the infected felt immense pain as they suffered from continuous muscle-cramping all over their body.
 
"So you two are here; you kids shouldn't stay here, or you might get infected. Go back to your rooms.", said the Village Chief who had spotted his two sons helping the infected Villagers.

"But father-"

"GO. I won't repeat myself.", the Village Chief had a solemn expression on his face.

With no choice left, the two went back to their home.
 
At night, Qin family-household.

As the Village Chief and his sons were having their dinner, Qirui couldn't resist but ask," Father, what did Doctor Meng say?"
Doctor Meng was the most-qualified doctor in their Village, even the far-off Villages didn't have a doctor that was as qualified as Doctor Meng.
Qirui was confident that Doctor Meng would definitely find a way to help those infected Villagers.

The Village Chief's expression was uneasy, "This is truly a tragedy... *sigh*, I want you to leave with the other Villagers first thing in the morning, this Village is no longer safe."

"Doctor Meng has looked into the infection; but he observed the symptoms rather too carefully, now even he is infected."

"He has told us that we should evacuate this Village the first thing in the morning. The infection is too eerie, and he can't make heads or tails out of it. And if his assumptions are correct, then those infected people won't live for more than a day or so.", said the Village Chief.

He felt genuinely heartbroken this time, this Village was built due to immense sacrifices of his father, and now he could only see it fall. He had failed in his responsibilities as a son and as a Village Chief, he could only helplessly watch the infected Villagers dying.

The two boys kept quiet.  

The night was filled with the painful screams and howls of the infected Villagers.

Early next morning, at the Village Square.

Looking at all the assembled Villagers, Doctor Meng said, " I know this is hard...arghhh...It hurts arghh... but please leave this Village. We, the infected people don't have much time left anyway and arghhh.. We don't want to bring you down with us.... please leave." Doctor Meng's face continuously distorted in pain but he still managed to say his heartfelt feelings.

Looking at the silent and worried crowd, the Village Chief joined in," These people know that they can no longer be saved! Even Doctor Meng knows this! There is no hope of staying in this Village, I already talked with the other infected people, they all want you to leave the Village. There is a remote town in the southward direction, we can take shelter there. Please understand their feelings."

Some of the Villagers did indeed have the thoughts of leaving the Village but hearing that the infected people wanted the unaffected Villagers to leave; instead of trying to help save them, made these few Villagers feel contempt towards themselves.

Even with all this, the Villagers didn't leave. They stayed on their spots as they looked towards their loved-ones on the Square; although they were a Village in-name, the reality was that each of them considered their fellow Villagers as family!

Seeing the unaffected Villagers not leaving the Village, as they stood there dumbly, irritated the infected Villagers. They no longer cared about their pain and started shouting and howling for the Villagers to get out of the Village.

"Get out of here... this daddy tells you to get the hell out... I don't want to see your damn faces.", said one.

"Please leave! Why are you not listening? Are you idiots! Mary, I thought you were a smart woman, you said you will abandon me at the first sign of danger! Why aren't you abandoning me?!", said another young man as he looked towards his fiancée among the crowd.

"At least think about the children! They are the future of the Village! Please at least get them away from here safely.", said an old man.

The infected Villagers kept on urging the crowd to leave the Village; some cursed and yelled out to make them leave, while others begged them to leave. They knew that they didn't have much time left anyway; but they didn't want their loved ones and fellow Villagers to get infected along with them.

Although the unaffected Villagers loved their lives, they placed their family and their friends above their own lives. Seeing the infected Villagers, their loved ones, telling them to leave the Village; instead made them more stubborn and decisive to not leave the Village!

"Brothers... There is surely a cure for you all, as long as we try hard, there would definitely be a cure!", said one of the unaffected Villagers.

"Yes... this brother here speaks the truth if we don't even try our best to help and just escape at first sign of danger... then I will be damned!", said another.

There was chaos as both the side argued, one telling them to leave while the other stubbornly argued back that they wouldn't.

After a long argument, the infected Villagers kept quiet, they no longer said anything. But their eyes flashed with gratitude and kindness; although they knew that the other party was just finding excuses to stay back, their real aim was to accompany their brothers and loved-ones until the very end!  

[Having such loving friends and family who wish to accompany you till your very last breath... One would be more than willing to raise their heads high in the face of death without any regrets!], The infected ones were no longer afraid of their imminent deaths, they only hoped to have such loving and caring people in their next life.

Soon the dawn turned to dusk, by late-evening, all the infected ones had already left for the after-life. All of them had a look of gratitude and a smile on their faces, not even the slightest bit of regret could be seen on their faces.

But the unaffected Villagers were not any better off, many of them were infected as well, but they strangely smiled and didn't say anything.

[Looks like I will be able to accompany my brothers and my wife to the after-life!], a newly-infected Villager thought.

Even after all this, the remaining unaffected Villagers didn't leave; instead they shared their happy memories with their beloved ones who were newly-infected and joked and reminisced their past.

"Please leave...Jian...Qirui..", said the Village Chief, his eyes teared up. He was among the newly-infected and was laid on a bed in the Village Square, his body continuously twitching in pain.

These two of his kids were truly very rebellious! He had told them to leave with the other Village children, but they refused to, and in the end, the rest of the children also joined in and refused to go as they also felt heart-ache for their loved ones.

Qirui and Jian were utterly heartbroken as they watched their father, who continuously twitched and howled in pain
They were right beside him, and although he consistently pushed them away, they still came up to him.

In the end, The Village Chief just sighed deeply and didn't do anything anymore.

But deep inside he felt glad he had such loving children, he just prayed and hoped that the infection wouldn't spread out to them. Or else he wouldn't be able to rest in peace.

…

It didn't take long before the newly-infected ones died, they were all buried by the remaining unaffected Villagers below the Sakura trees.

With immense sorrow, both Qin Jian and Qin Qirui vehemently kneeled and kowtowed continuously before the grave of their father.  
Qin Jian knew that although the Village Chief was only his adoptive-father, he had treated him so well that at times he thought he was truly his son and Qirui's blood brother.
To Qin Jian, the care and efforts that his adoptive father had put into him were immense. Even if Qin Jian paid with his life...he wouldn't be able repay him back!

There were only a few tens of Villagers left behind who were unaffected.

Most of the children, youths and the old had already died due to the infection. The Qin brothers and a few middle-aged people were left alive, they had decided to leave the Village after they had buried all the Villagers away, but after a few hours, they found themselves infected as well.

In the end, it was only Qin Jian and Qin Qirui who were not affected and helped out the remaining Villagers, who were infected. 
They gave them food and water and applied a few medicines, although those medicines were not effective, they still relieved the pain the infected felt somewhat.
 
After a day, those remaining infected-Villagers soon died.
 
Qin Jian and Qin Qirui buried them under the Sakura trees, perhaps having their graves close to the graves of their loved ones and other Villagers would make them rest in peace.

Qin Jian and Qirui walked back to the Village, which was now barren and empty, devoid of any liveliness.

All the Villagers had died except them. Those middle-aged aunties, those kind uncles, those grumpy old men, those kids who always played and joked around in the Village, those young men and women who were filled with countless dreams and hopes for their futures...all dead.

In just few days, their whole world changed completely, their father, the innocent and loving Villagers.... all gone.

Wang Yao only finished brewing one decoction. However, it was a good achievement given the equipment he had.
"One should be enough," he said.
The decoction played a key role in resolving the toxin. It would completely remove the toxin from the body.
He saw Li Fang and his son again in the afternoon. Wang Yao gave the decoction to Li Fang and said, "Take the decoction once a day, in the morning, for seven days."
"OK, thanks," Li Fang said.
"He will probably vomit and have diarrhea, which are ways for him to move the toxins out of his body," Wang Yao said. "Don't worry too much. I'll prescribe you another to improve his fundamental health. You can brew it yourself.
"Great, thank you so much," Li Fang said.
"Help him to take the decoction now, and I'll take a look at him afterward," Wang Yao said.

Wang Yao prepared several formulas of consolidation soup. He put the herbs together instead of brewing decoctions and went to meet Li Fang at the hotel he was staying at.
"This is a different formula," Wang Yao said. "I've written down the method of brewing the decoction. You can do it yourself. These herbs are enough for your son to take for seven days. Call me if you have any questions. And, stop giving him those imported medications."
"Thank you," Li Fang said.

"Yes, especially on one particular day," Zhong Liuchuan said. "I wasn't sure why, but cars were parked everywhere outside your clinic."
He remembered that day clearly. He noticed a car parking outside Wang Yao's clinic that morning when he was doing morning exercise. A man brought his child to see Wang Yao. Zhong Liuchuan explained to the man hat Wang Yao was away, but the person still wanted to wait. Zhong Liuchuan went off to continue with his morning exercise and came back to the clinic a little later. The person and his child hadn't left, and more people were waiting outside the clinic. Zhong Liuchuan didn't leave because he was concerned that some visitors might not have good intentions. More and more people came along later that day. The cars formed a big queue. Most of the people came with their children.
"Children?" Wang Yao asked.
"Yes, most people brought their kids to see you," Zhong Liuchuan said. "I heard those kids coughing badly. They said your decoctions are very effective in treating coughs."
"Really?' Wang Yao was a bit surprised.

Her son was 7. He had been coughing since he entered the room. He looked terrible and wheezed when he was breathing. It was as if something was blocking his throat and lungs.

3. What is the "substance" that I think was described as mold like and black I.e. the effects. even if it is just organized from already given information. 

The mold is what we, personnel, are working on. To think it's been so long as to most personnel forgetting about it. This is what happens when the Main Apartment has been contamination free since era 1. 

The mold, for as far as we know, is a parasitic substance that has both high infection and spread rate. The tricky thing about this mold is that it's inconsistent, constantly changing, maybe evolving. 

according to resident C3 of  building block r, the mold is... parasitic. Grappling onto any surface, being hard or flesh, and slowly infecting the system from the inside. 

any contact from it results in it spreading at a fast rate. Only highly concentrated bleach seems to deter the smallest ounce of it. Removal is nearly impossible otherwise. 

I've hypothesized that it directly affects the central nervous system, most importantly the brain. 

Current symptoms stands:
consistent loss of consciousness
persistent hunger
frequent need for noise
-potentially, self made in the form of banging on walls. screaming. Talking. 
uncontrollable anger, potentially outbursts
on that note, mood swings.

upon exhibiting early symptoms,the infected host will quickly get overtaken by the mold until it is completely covered in it. Current efforts to prevent infection are as follows:

disposal of any and all personnel exhibiting early symptoms via through the head. No known effective prevention/disposal for late stage infection. 

Truth be told, much information about the catalyst like virus is... unknown. However, rest assured.

The administration is hard at working running test to get as much information as possible. Continuing the work of pre-era research to better our survival.

4. layout descriptions might be cool, inside and/or outside.

Guess it's my turn.

Each building block is comprised of 4 levels. As you should know, starting from top to bottom, it is A, B, C, D. These levels are separated via 6 rooms for each resident of the level. with two elevators on either side of the hallway. 

I've made a quick little layout just in case:

once again, as you should know, all building blocks are build beneath the surface. As it is the safest of place to be in considering our current climate. 

as for the outside? It's barren. Just a humid, dusty, foggy mess of what used to be. There's no need to be worried about such things, after all you personnel are needed here. In the main apartment. 

Not even those in the trials or building blocks are needed on the surface.

5. Ages of the characters though I guess those could be classified under the timeline 

YOu are quite right for that information being classified. 
However, rest assured, all residents are of appropriate age. 

There has been no reported instances of juveniles participating in the trials for all 5 eras.

6. Speaking of classified a transcript of the classified documents one half found in her (potentially his have read that far just saw a comment alluding to more interactions) mom place( forgot her number) ... essentially more lore about the experiments they have been doing 

These files might be leftover/sentimental files from back during the trial. Some residents kept their notes in the event of needing them as they live in the building blocks. However most are /actual/ files. Not pictures as the .5 notes deem them to be. We are currently still working on finding said files. However, 9 stated that the origins of the .5 notes are unknown.

Most were found on the surface scattered about.
