In addition to the machine guns and cannons, behind the wall, a defense post will be prepared to house more than 5,000 soldiers. Another huge project was handed to Tony. Although he didn't have difficulty finding workers, there were only a few people have had experience making buildings like this. The biggest problem would be moving the materials, luckily, the mutated ox they brought from Madura would greatly increase their efficiency.
As Alex was coordinating the development, the long-lost passion for designing and building things began to resurface. But when he was getting more focused, he realized his wife was watching him. "What is it, Vi?"
"No, nothing…"
Alex realized that there were still many things that disturbed his wife's thoughts. He then finished his work and walked over to his wife, who was also busy arranging supplies for this new base.
"Let's go back."
"Where are we going?"
"Family time."
"But there's still so much to prepare. There's only two weeks and... and…"
"Don't worry, they can handle this. Tomorrow we will do it again."
Alex gave full authority to Tony and his team in preparing the new base. After that, they walked back and took one of the vehicles and drove with his wife back to the main headquarters. 
Alex told his two daughters that they were going to play at the beach, but when they heard the word 'play at the beach', the two children immediately went out and invited friends; they asked Vina and her younger brother to join.

In an unexpected turn of events, the afternoon turned into a gathering of two families, his family and Erick's family. For children, of course, the more the merrier. So for Alex, as long as his children were happy he didn't mind. Together they went to the beach near Bay City, one of the safest beaches from the of zombies and mutated animals.
The children played and made sand castles. Tiffany and Vina, even though they're 12 years old, played with their younger siblings. Alex took the time to thank Erick and his wife for looking after his family. 
Erick had already reached the peak stage of the mortal realm. He may not be as great as the other fighters, but Alex trusted Erick's integrity. Erick was ecstatic to receive an assignment that needed him to stay close to the family.
Alex invited his wife to walk together on the beach. While watching the sun beginning to set. His wife started a conversation. 
"So, Alex... can you tell me again about the things you did for those 10 years?"
Alex was silent for a while. For Alex, there wasn't much to tell, the only things that were interesting were stories of his battles together with his fellow survivors. As for the rest, they were only death and suffering.
His wife soon realized that this was a question that botherd Alex's mind. She switched the question and asked, 
"Ok, then how about this. Answer me honestly.  Were you… were you remarried?"
"!!!"
Alex's eyes bulged as he heard the question... Devita smiled. 
"Surely you had a lover, right? Right? Don't tell me it's Aria! Was she your lover in your previous life?"
"No, Vi... She wasnt.. i didnt"
Alex answered with a smile, but Devita as a woman did not believe his answer. She secretly planned on getting Theo, placed him in front of Alex and repeated the same question. 
Alex had never been close to Aria in his previous life. At that time, Aria was a legendary figure. She was a spirit enhancer, deathsquad member and the granddaughter of the country's most well-known man, the Regent, who fought in the forefront against the end of time. While Alex was just an ordinary fighter. As for a woman who became close to him in that 10 years… Alex thought about someone... but that woman also died. Even though that was a different time, Alex was wise enough not to tell his wife.
The two of them enjoyed chatting and joking together. But the following question from his wife made him feel heavy.
"I can see that you seem to be in a hurry to prepare everything here in Bali. Are you… are you planning to leave again?"
The plan for Alex to go to Australia was not a secret, but Alex had never told details of it to his managers or his wife.
"Yes, I have to go."
"When?"
"Immediately."
"How long?"
"Approximately one year."
"..."
This news greatly disturbed her. Devita was very smart, but she right away knew that Alex would leave his family again... With the current condition of the Starbase, and the responsibilities she currently hold; more importantly their daughters. There were a lot of various reasons for him to leave his family in Bali.  But she know in her heart, she wishes to come with him...
"Can't we come along with you?'
Alex paused for a moment and reluctantly said, "It's too dangerous, Vi. You and the kids will be safer here."
"But there's no safer place in this world for us, other than being with you. We are at our most safest when we're with you."
These words etched deep in Alex's heart, but still, he didn't want to have his wife and two children entering with him to an extremely dangerous place such as in Australia. Alex was about to say something when Erick suddenly came running.
"Alex! The surveillance team is back but they don't seem too good. They're looking for you."
Family time had to be cut short. Alex hurried to the military headquarters in the city of Antiga. As Alex neared, Rama's mutated bears was seen hurting in front and was being tended to. Inside the command center room, Rama in a bloody shirt stood up and the other ready to give a report.
"What went wrong? anyone injured?"
"One seriously injured.." Rama show one of the master hurting in the corner.. but fortunately not life threatening.. Alex order someone to take him to the medical center first.
Alex immediately noticed that the returning surveillance team lacked one person. 
"Aria? Where is Aria?!"


January 2020 the world come to an end.. When the plague started it, it brought death upon 80% of the population. 
When the survivors thought there was no more hope. They came. 1008 pillars dropped from the sky and spread all around the world in more than 100 countries. The pillars became defensive bases to all of the survivors. But in the end.. after 10 years of struggle, The human race still lost.

True to Yve's words, Vince woke up the following morning with her sleeping comfortably in his embrace. Despite her protests last night, he didn't let go and having no choice they slept that way. Vince would love to stare at his wife more but he also knew that she still has a speech to prepare.
Hastily, he stood up and called the kitchen to prepare a breakfast for them and while waiting for the food to come, he freshen up. Just as he finished his morning routine, the food came and so he woke up his sleeping wife.
"Yve? Wake up now." He whispered as he lightly tap Yve's shoulders.
"Hmmm.... Let me sleep a little longer" Yve mumbled as she turned her body against Vince with her eyes closed. What made him smile was what Yve did. Subconsciously, her hands and legs began to look for his warmth beside her.
"Now you're looking for me in your sleep." Vince murmured to himself.
"Queen, you need to wake up. Breakfast is ready and you still have a speech to make remember?"
"Hmmm.... Maybe... later.." She continues to mumble. 
"You won't wake up... hmmm...."
Then Vince decided to attack his wife in a sweet way. He gave her small kisses from her forehead then to her eyes, her nose, cheeks, chin and finally her lips. The kiss on the lips was sweet at first until he bit Yve's lower lips causing the other to gasp and allowed his tongue to enter. Instantly Yve opened her eyes and saw a closer view of her husband enjoying his breakfast.
'What breakfast?! What dirty thoughts are you thinking, Yve?' She scolded herself as she slightly pushed Vince.
"Finally you're awake. You can just tell me ahead if you wanted a wake up kiss. I'll be happy to comply with your request." Vince smirked as he stood up.
"Stop making fun of me early in the morning." Yve remarked when she smelled something different.
"Did you cook food? Nope, but I called the kitchen and the food just arrived." Vince explained.
"That's great!" Yve stood up and fixed their bed before following Vince to the kitchen.
She approached Vince, who is now preparing the table, and hugged him from behind before whispering,
"Good morning, Mr. Gray."
Vince stopped what he was doing and placed his hands on top of Yve's as he responded, "Good morning too, Mrs. Gray."
They were both smiling and enjoying the moment for a few seconds when Yve removed her hands and said,
"I need to wash my face now. Just finish preparing our breakfast." 
Vince smiled and obeyed his wife.
They are now enjoying their first breakfast as husband and wife while watching the morning news. The TV station they had partnership with was quick to edit the details. The story shows the video clips of the guests in the wedding, their wedding vows, short clips of their performances at the reception and even the announcement of her acceptance to St. Michael's.
"I can't believe you really prepared the wedding behind my back." Vince exclaimed as he enjoys his coffee. 
"It wouldn't be possible without your team's help, Edward, Nyelle and your mother, Maddie."
"She's not only my mother but also yours."
"Hmmm... I forgot."
"But why does it seem that my team obeys you more than me nowadays?"
"Hmm... Not really. They just know what will actually make you happy and acted on their own to give you that happiness."
Vince smiled at his wife trying to explain in a roundabout way while defending them.
"You do have a knack with your tongue and ideas aren't you?"
"I learn from the best." Yve smiled as she finished her hot chocolate.
Just like that, the couple breakfast was over and they went to their desks. Edward cleared Vince's schedule for today and will resume his work the following day, the same with Yve.
Yve is now pondering on what to write on her speech. It's her first time to write a speech since the last time she studied. She turned her head to Vince who's looking through her music sheets and humming the melody he hears while writing the possible lyrics.
Yve was suppose to ask Vince for help but now she's staring at him. She still couldn't believe that this man is finally hers in mind, heart and legally. She was lost in thoughts while observing Vince's every move that she failed to realize the other is now staring at her as well with a questioning face.
Vince smiled at her wife staring blankly at him. He certainly doesn't mind but she still has a speech to write and an event to get ready for. 
"My dearest wife, I'm in awe that you like spending your time ogling at my face but now's not the right time. You still need to write your speech." Vince's words brought his daydreaming wife back to real world.
"Hmph! Who's ogling at your face?!" Yve said as she tries to defend herself.
"You! There's even a saliva near your mouth." Vince teased his wife once more. 
The latter in full recognition that she has been thinking of her husband touched the corners of her lips in search of wet or dried saliva. But she found nothing. She furiously approached her husband and was about to get her sweet revenge when Vince interrupted her.
"How's the speech going?" Yve stopped her attack and looked down.
"I was about to ask your help for that. I can't seem to find the appropriate idea or topic for my speech. What did you say in yours?" Yve asked.
Vince urged her to sit on his lap before answering her question.
"In mine, I put the people I'm thankful for, the reason why I wanted to enter the university and the promise and the values I wished to uphold in my stay." Vince explained.
"Huh?! Why does it seem so complicated?!"
"At that time, I was too engrossed with the idea that I was the record holder."
"Should I also do the same thing?"
"It depends on you. But the most important thing you need to take note in your speech..."
"What?"
"Yvory Smith-Gray must be present in it. The content must give everyone an idea on who you are." 
"Hmmm..." His final words send Yve into silence as she stood up and walks back to her desk where she started typing her thoughts.
'I'm looking forward to your speech, my dear Queen.' Vince said as he continued writing some lyrics for the melodies created by Yve.


Today is another busy day for me. Work and home are the only places I go to for the past 3 years. The end of THAT relationship ended my happy, easy-going life. But then, when I think about it, it was not his fault but mine. My friends would tell me that I need to move on. I HAVE MOVED ON. It's just I don't want any side trips anymore in my life. I have my dreams and I am working hard for it. Little did I know what the destiny has installed for me.

"Mom, I still love her. She ended the relationship without any valid reason and I didn't agree."

"But son, what if the reason is that she doesn't love you anymore? Isn't that a reason valid enough for you?"

"I have to know it this time, mom. I did try to go out on dates but still failed. I think meeting her again will help me know what is happening with me."

"I guess I have no other choice. But remember, don't let her disrupt your plans and the family's business."

"I know, mom. Steph, book my flight to the Philippines tomorrow."

"Vincent! Why are you in so much rush?!"

"Because I believe that the early bird gets the worm."

Days continued to pass as the maidens were trained. For a normal woman who lived in modern days, the training was rather boring as it mostly involved things that medieval women in human's history would be taught off - reading and writing - in Magi's language of course, history, culture, proper etiquettes, singing, dancing, playing the instruments, and many more. But most of them were topics revolving on how to be a good wife, how to be a good wife, and another how to be a good wife lessons. They even included topics about sexuality and ways of pleasing men in bed.


Until one day, news arrived at each palace. 


"Everyone listen up," the Elite magus, also known as "Malum", who led the group of evil women, started. He had dark green hair, light brown eyes, and pale skin tone. His face looked like he's around mid 30's in age, with handsome looks as well - at a human's perspective at least - since the magi race would often describe this as an average-looking face, and a forever listless expression. Like a warlock of some sort, he wore a black suit and pants with dark boots extending to his knees, covered by a big dark green cloak that extended to his ankles.
The girls who were just bickering and smirking at each other, now gathered in front of Malum. They were in the social room inside the Pémptos palace.
"Tomorrow night, a banquet will be held at the king's palace," he spoke with his slow, condescending voice. "This is your first time attending our banquet since you needed to be trained prior to properly meeting and socializing with the king. I do certainly hope that all the things I taught you remained in that little brain of yours."
At this remark, some girls rolled their eyes.
"Also, be ready to entertain the king and of course, gain his favor if you don't want to be given away to some old, stinking noble or experts. As I mentioned before, the king only needs at least 20 concubines or less and a puppet queen to serve him in bed. Since you humans are not that beautiful, it may as well be 10 or less concubines, and a queen, instead. So be sure to do your best in seducing him."
Everyone murmured and started thinking.
"...Oh! Right.. Before I forgot," he continued. "I prepared a little present for each of you. I've placed it in your room, be sure to use it if you want to be ahead amongst the others. And pleeeease, do something about that cunning Aza~lea? Or whoever she is. She definitely used her wits to gain herself the favor of the king last time," and after a pause, "Again, if they can't be your pawn ~..."
" - get rid of them." everyone chorused.
"And if they block your paths.."
" - get rid of them."
"And if they - "
"Yeah, yeah, we get it, old fart," someone interrupted. It was none other than a long-legged, alluring girl in her 20's with long and smooth purple hair and captivating pink eyes. Her voice, soft yet commanding and very sexy. And her name was "Selena Fidelis".
Malum smirked and raised his right eyebrow.
"Instead of you spouting nonsense over and over again, why don't you just do something about this dress we're wearing? It's like, duh! My hair is purple and I'm wearing dark green? How eggplanty~ can I be? I definitely won't be able to seduce the king at this rate," she babbled nonstop.
"Your straightforwardness always amuses me, Selena." Malum said, smiling. "But of course, I also prepared beautiful gowns for each of you, and don't worry, it's not a pandora dress so it won't change color and design once you wear it. You can also find it in your rooms."
"But aren't we not allowed to dress differently aside from the pandora's dress?" asked the curious one amongst them.
"Oh darling, you're not new here. We never follow orders anyway, so why bother?" Selena answered.
"Yeah, let's just use this to our advantage." answered the other.
"Alrighty~, juuusst asking."
"And what of our very own Odile?" Selena turned to Rania who was staring at the large window, watching the falling leaves outside.
She then turned around to Selena for us to welcome a Rania who lost her glow and brilliance. She now reflected a face of a lifeless yet bewitching doll.
 After a moment of silence, she only said two words. "Not interested".
With that remark, Malum was enthralled and got excited about what's to come of tomorrow's banquet.

And so, tomorrow came. 
Early in the morning, each palace did their best in preparing for the banquet. Everyone prepared their own gifts for the king since this banquet was to celebrate humanity's utter failure in subduing their kind. Trítos and Tétartos palaces were preparing rather reluctantly knowing the reason for the banquet. Défteros and Próta palaces were also reluctant at the beginning but their will to survive was greater, and so they did their best in preparing their gifts. But woe to those in Pémptos who were taking delight in this event. With no kindness in their hearts, they care not of what happened to their own planet - completely accustomed themselves in the world of Magi.
With all the preparations, it didn't take that long for evening to come and for the banquet to commence. 
The palace of the king was decorated so extravagantly that night. The whole "Grand Palace" was filled with red and gold all over. The floor was covered with clear white marble tiles and golden carpet embroidered with white gold roses and other flowers. The middle part of the hall was topped with bright red velvet carpet. Large victorian-looking windows that could be seen at all sides were covered with golden velvet drapes with white gold designs at the seams and ends of each curtain. And what are we to say about the chandeliers? They were simply magnificent and blindingly luminous. They were made of golden gems and crystals supported by white gold metal, very large in appearance, but the distance from the floor to the ceiling made them look a little smaller in size. The marble tables and soft upholstered chairs that looked like mini couches were of very high quality as well. The table was set formally with all the human cutlery, plates, and goblets. There were also musicians prepared at the top right corner of the hall. 
The king's throne was set at the farthest center, elevated amongst the rest. Behind the throne was a very large, translucent white crystal - too big that it reached the ceiling of the hall. It was the most extravagant area in the whole banquet hall and the red carpet led to him. 
One level below him were 4 smaller thrones, 2 on each of his sides, for his "Judges". Another level below them were 12 other magnificent seats, six in each of his sides reserved for the "Generals".

Judging on human standards, the whole palace decoration seems like how a normal human would decorate the royal palace if it weren't for those small floating orbs of light orbiting the white crystal behind the king's throne. There were 12 of them and each radiated a different color - red, blue, green, yellow, white, black, turquoise, purple, pink, brown, light brown, and orange. 
After a little while, everyone gathered. They arrived in different manners. Some arrived via magic portals, some via carriages-looking vehicles, some by flying, and some, just suddenly popping out of nowhere. Most of them wore cloaks of varying colors to protect them from the chilly atmosphere of the night.
The judges and generals sat on their assigned seats. The mythics and legends were in the front row near the king, the nobles on the next, and the others, scattered about. The music began to play as they awaited for the king. None started a thing without him.
Dun-dun-dun-dun!
The mellow music suddenly changed to an upbeat one. In this signal, everyone rose up to welcome the arrival of the king.
