Murakami: So you might not see how they built up to their debut novel. Authors can have 15-20 scrapped novels b4 they debut, and the public don't get to read a single one.

Zenith: That doesn't make the author lose his experience of writing those scrapped novels that's the point I was making.

Murakami: But it also means that it's more like hit and miss.

Reili: True because they don't get the feedback from fans.

Murakami: They get limited feedback from an agent/editor who doesn't want to read their work.

Zenith: Yeah, but it surely is better than nothing.

Murakami: And they're left with a bunch of abstract and vague advice that they have no idea how to implement.

Reili: If they don't enjoy it, the feedback won't be as insightful.

Zenith: They can learn from their mistakes from reading their own works.

Reili: Well…

Zenith: If possible, from platforms.

Murakami: If they knew how to do that they'd fix it and publish it.

Reili: It would make the process easier if someone who enjoys the book to give them better feedback.

Zenith: It's called rewriting from scratch, and it takes a tonne of time if the author feels more interested in some other idea of his, he would do that.

Reili: I suppose so since the author being inspired will bring his book along.

VKBoy: If the ones giving review are professional editors, then they don't necessarily have to have read your work with immersion because their suggestions will still likely cover the basic flaws that amateurish writers usually make.

Reili: Point taken.

Zenith: Yeah.

Murakami: @VKBoy if they spot those errors they'll put down the manuscript after the first page

Reili: Then again, its a little bit like movie critics. They may hate the movie, but fans love it.

Zenith: Yeah.

Murakami: And then send a reply saying, "Don't send in another manuscript until you learn how to write properly."

Zenith: Professionals in the said field prefer not taking risks. Especially in movies, but books, you can keep trying.

VKBoy: Well, if there are errors in the first page itself, that's a whole different thing, lol.

Reili: True.

Murakami: No, but a good editor can tell the writing quality from just the first page even if you've crafted it perfectly, they can just tell that the rest will be shit.

Reili: You have to also take into account of one punch man. The original comic looks terrible, but the redraw made it amazing.

Zenith: That's smartness of the creator.

VKBoy: Well, in one punch man's case, it got attention from the companies after it got popular in the online communities.

Reili: So a persons writing and grammar may be terrible, but with a little editing, the story itself could be amazing.

Reili: But it would also help if the author re-reads the edit to make sure the essence of their story is still there.

VKBoy: Editing is also writing, mate. Rewriting is where real writing lies.

Zenith: It's a skill in writing a story, but your choice.

Zenith: Editing it yourself can help you keep the heart of the story.

Reili: That being said, the more I write, the better my basic grammar became.

Zenith: You will keep the feels right.

Zenith: And not make it just sound or look better, you give what the story wants

Reili: I do read mtl sometimes since I can't wait for chaps, but then I find myself reading in broken English and must stop.

learning "usage" is hard.

VKBoy: lol, if you read mtl, your IQ drops. Believe me, this can affect a person's writing skill in the long run.

Author's Notes

I'm sure you've read this a few times in the previous chapters, but I had been reading MTL chapters for the past few years. I usually read "Completed" stories, and most of them are around 2-4k chapters each. Of course, I read the translated chapters first. After I reach the latest translated chapter, I will immediately jump to *cough* Google Translate.

Yeah~ I know. Reading chapters through Google Translate was the most…epic mistake I did in the past. I've finished World Defying Dan God, Battle Through the Heavens uhh…and a few more novels using Google Translate.

In the later years, I discovered lnmtl.com, which gave me a better translation (at least the names of the characters are not written like Cloud Che instead of Yun Che (Against the Gods). 

To be perfectly honest, If I didn't start writing, I would have continued to read these machine translated chapters even now. Reading MTL works if English is not your first language.

This is something that those with English as their main language will scoff at. However, for those who just want to read. As in reading something without worrying about anything else, then they won't care even if it's a machine translated chapter. As long as they will be able to read the NEXT chapter, then it's all good.

This is also the reason why I admire translators. If not for them, these stories that we are not aware of will not be able to grace us with their presence. I would like to thank the translators of my favorite novels like Lord of Mysteries, Release that Witch, Against the Gods, Cultivation Chatgroup, Second Coming of Avarice, and so many other titles that I won't be able to list here.

To my beloved readers, if there will come a time when you feel like writing a story of your own and you're reading machine translated chapters, please stop now. I'm saying this for your own good. 

I understand how you feel. Believe me I do, but for the sake of the story you're going to write in the future, heed my advice. Stop now, while you still have the chance. Learning how to write from scratch with broken English is a painful process.

Then again, if you find an editor who is a masochist, consider yourself lucky. Let them clean up your mess for you, so you can focus on writing your story, and learn the art of writing while you write.

How the spell works is pretty straight-forward, conjure a shield made out of Dark Demonic Energy and cast it on yourself or to whoever you wish to protect, and any attempts of DP will be futile, but it is easier said than done.

That is why my dear reader is that thanks to Karius who is in fact a dear old friend of mine provided you with the necessary magical formulas and steps in order to cast the spell which is located below.
The spell also works as an additional protection to Dark magi, reducing their damage than upon you significantly, thus a great defense against Warlocks. It also lasts depending on the caster's mana capacity, but once activated, all your other spells will take even more mana to cast, theoretically about 30% more, so use it wisely.

And a word of advice dear reader, those who are not attuned with the dark magic of the demons, especially us HUMANS may have a risk of succumbing themselves to the sheer power of the spell, causing to lose themselves in the brink of destruction as the darkness will overtake and eventually kill you, so don't use it more than what you have bargain for. ONCE OR MAYBE TWICE IS ENOUGH, but more than that, and you are gonna say hello to the gates of Hellas before you know it. Warlocks though won't have any problem casting this spell since they are well versed in the Dark arts and have already adjusted to the deadly art of Dark magic.

Ken Mercer continues to read the article as he finally spotted a series of complex formulas and runic languages that even the most seasoned of magi would find it hard to learn. It is after all a requirement in casting the spell and is located right below the last paragraph.

Glacia and Ana as well could not help but marveled with astonishment at the glorious scene right in front of them.

"A-amazing." The Princess of Winters uttered in sheer wonder as she could not help but be amazed at what she is witnessing right now.

"For once I agree with you Ice hag." The Girl of the Dragon blood nodded with a smile and she could not help but thought about something regarding her new master.

Somewhere around the academy in a confined dark space, the dark figure of one Miabi Aventus smirked evilly as numerous bodies of students, all female is seen on the ground unconscious inside a violet magical circle that has the design of a pentagram. Suddenly the circle radiated a dark violet aura filled with pure malice and demonic energy as the girls rose up by the effects of the magic like puppets being subjected to control as evident by their eyes devoid of life. They also have the same dark aura just like what happen to Ana during the Magicka a few day ago.

"Fufufu, it seems that the time has come. Ken Mercer, you will be mine~" 

Then she eyed at her new minions, a playful gleam suddenly appeared on her yellow eyes as she brought out some sort of clothing that anime fans are especially all familiar with.

"But first, Maid costumes, KYAAA!!"

And the poor women, demonic possessed or not shivered with fear as they saw Miabi grinning perversely without shame approaching them with a maid costume on her hands.

"Maid magic?" Ken Mercer said in wonder as he brought out a certain book out in the Dark magic Section and is in fact coincidentally beside the book of Canaria's Master Guide to Defend yourself against Demons that they were just reading earlier.

Then in an instant, the book was snatched by a blushing Glacia who seem to be glaring at Ken.

"Hey what was that for!!?" Ken shouted as he was surprised by the Ice magus' actions.

"Sir Ken a word of advice, there are some magic so dark that not even the most resilient and purest of minds would ever hope to conquer them. Even YOU." Glacia simply answered with a dark smile.

Ken simply nodded and said "Whatever" and motioned for his servants to prepare themselves to leave the place.

'That book, it could be not that bad, right? What could be so dark about maids?'

Poor Ken, Ignorance is truly a bliss.

The day started off with Corvig showing Donis the "classroom" that they'll be staying in. Calling it a classroom was a bit of a stretch. It was closer to a modified office with a single desk and chair for Donis. The rest of the office was filled with neatly stacked books, papers and what looked like metallic trinkets.

It was a spacious enough room, with a sun facing window outfitted with blackout curtains. The floor was made of a teal soft looking carpet, and the walls were once again littered with bookcases. 'It seems the people of this world love their bookcases,' mused Donis.

"First things first Donis, even though you are gifted, you have no prior knowledge, nor do you have any experience in studying. So we shall start off with the absolute basics for you. Here," said Corvig as he passed Donis a book titled "Mana Manipulation – Classroom Basics". 

It was a medium sized violet book with a leather-bound cover. Donis eyed it curiously wondering what ideas or gifts of wisdom it would hold. He knew he couldn't expect much from it, seeing how it was the classroom basics, which is aimed at 10 year old kids since that's when kids normally learned magic. Still, it was better than not having anything at all.

"I want you to read it all. There will be words you do not understand here so you are required to ask me for their definitions, or uses. I will guide you through this book, and so each time you finish a chapter, I'll test you on it's contents and provide further, and deeper, explanations that should help you going into the next chapter. A lot of this though will be self study, because I have my own research to get to," said Corvig taking a seat behind his desk, opening one of the drawers.

Donis nodded, opened the book and began reading with a drunken fervour. It helped that he knew how to read better than even his older sisters. One of the positives of actually being an adult mentally.

'Oh a new ability based on what I've read? So not only does it show that I've understood the concept enough, but the exact name of the skill being taught. Interesting,' thought Donis studiously.

The book described the basics of mana manipulation. How to sense it within, how to move it, how to control it, how to sense it around you, how to bring it in, how to change it and how to finally emit it from oneself. These uses seemed arbitrary at the beginning, but once combined with some practice and dedication you could use this level of magic to achieve very basic effects.

Donis read the book in silence for hours, with Corvig stealing glances at him while making a mental note of how devoted Donis seemed to studying. A surprise to be sure, but a welcome one.

Donis saw that if he used his will to shape the mana, or guide it in a certain way, he would be able to move very light objects, or even change the colour of his mana emission. He looked at his hand startled when he changed his mana emission to red from his normal gold. 

'It's actually this easy to manipulate it? I thought this would take me years like it always does in those novels' chuckled Donis excitedly. He began using his incredibly limited mana pool to affect the objects around him. He first cycled his mana emission through the colours of the rainbow, then he noted that it took him 3 mana to fully cycle the colours.

'Hmm, that feels sort of expensive, but I guess it might be cheap since I already have 65 mana without even leveling up yet. I'll ask Corvig about this when I run out of mana to practice with,' thought Donis.

Using his will, he ended up levitating a pencil using his mana emission condensing under it, then noted it drained 2 mana per second (2MP/s).  Then did it again while changing colours and noticed it drained 5MP/s.

[Basic Mana Control 2/100] - [2% EXP]-

'Oh hell yeah, finally, a level up in that elusive skill. It's such an addictive feeling, I can genuinely feel a minute change in my ability to control it... I suppose that's why it's called that.. anyway. Hmm, changing the intrinsic state of the emission seems to up the cost considerably. I wonder if this affects users who use spells that combine multiple elements. Fuck, every time I explore magic, I'm just filled with more questions,' grumbled Donis.

Corvig had long stopped his own research to watch this 5 year old use magic as if he were studying it for years. The kid picked up the book and after a few hours grasped the entire content of it, being able to not only use the mana within him, but even Mana Emission to influence the objects around him. 'He's also a fucking genius too. The worlds not really fair now is it,' mentally sighed Corvig, slowly getting up.

"Kid be careful, don't over-exert yourself, mana sickness is a real pain to deal with as an adult, let alone as a kid. Come, lets take a break, we'll get some food and talk to me about what you learned," said Corvig ushering Donis towards the door. As soon as Corvig said food, Donis realised that he's actually starving.

"Yes sir, I'm starving! My tummy hurts I'm so hungry!" said Donis, acting his age once again. 

"Sure sure, come along don't lag behind too much," Corvig said as he led them out of the office.

The rest of the day Donis spent practising [Basic Mana Control] and [Basic Mana Emission]. Corvig eventually got used to the idea of teaching a genius and went back to his own research, scarcely peeking at his student. In the absence of prying eyes, Donis's abilities went up a whole level already.

Satisfied at the results of the first day, went up to Corvig. "Sir, I have a question," Donis asked trying to sound awkward.

"Sure, what's bothering you Donis?" said Corvig, looking up from his research.

"Why does my mana run out so quickly? I have 65 mana but it doesn't last long at all! It's unfair I want to keep changing the colours, they're so pretty!" asked Donis half pissed, half curious.

"... You have 65 mana? Why do you have so much. Kids normally at 10 years old have 30. Ugh.. Okay so, the very basics of Mana Emission are highly inefficient because not only are you using mana which is not attuned to any element, you're also using the equivalent of a river to lift a pencil. The amount you output is far too great for the size of the object you're lifting. For the colour change, it's a bit unavoidable to lose some efficiency because you're changing the colour of the emission outside of your body and not from within where it originates," said Corvig with a more and more exasperated voice. Teaching this boy will not be as tame as he previously assumed.

"Does that all make sense Donis? If there's anything you don't understand please tell me now, I don't want you ruining your learning speed with a poor foundation," said Corvig, fully resigning to being pestered by endless questions.

"It all makes sense sir, thank you!" beamed back Donis.

 'I have that much more mana than kids my age? Is that to do with the title I have, or is it because of my intelligence stat influencing my mana growth? Is there mana growth? Fuck, I have to stop asking questions or I'll give myself a headache,' grumbled Donis, yet he was still sporting a smile, the idea of having an advantage made his greedy heart happy.


The evening eventually came. The amber hues dyed the sky and a sleepy atmosphere took over the office. The carriage picked up Donis, who obviously practised the hell out of those abilities on the entire trip back. 

He'd run out of mana constantly but found out he regened about 15 mana per minute (15MP/m). This allowed him to further progress his abilities. This time only [Basic Mana Control] hit the wonderful level up.

His family swarmed him the moment he left the carriage, unable to hold back their questionnaires to the confines of the kitchen. Donis swam in the love before being asked to be put down. They all entered the house, ate some dinner and eventually retired to bed.

'So every day is going to be like this. I cannot wait. I can finally get questions answered on how this all works! I can finally get a proper education and maybe even get ahead of everyone else for when I officially join the Academy. I wonder if they'll let me join soon, or will they keep the age restriction to avoid something like bullying..." thought Donis incessantly. Eventually, his mind drifted off to sleep, and his first official day of learning magic ended.

"No one will help you, bitch!", said the blonde mohawk thug.

Ye Jin is currently on the way riding his bike with all his might. His hair is flowing through the air because of the wind force. His clothes are now shriveled and dirty. His face also shows he is 'tired'.  Ye Jin gritted his teeth and pedals faster.

The lady also saw Ye Jin and her hopeless eyes, suddenly became lively when someone came but as soon as he looks at the man who's going to save her. She was suddenly disappointed because the man was thin and dirty. He can't do anything with these three thugs!

Ye Jin saw the disappointed look of the lady. Of course, he knows why because the lady thought he might be weak that he can't even fight those three thugs! Ye Jin smirk and wink at the lady.

Jiang Xiu looks at Ye Jin stupefied. She can't believe that this unknown man will still fight despite his stature. Of course, she knows that the man who was about to save her is suffering from malnutrition.
'This idiot…', she thought but deep inside her, she was thankful at the man. Despite his small built he still has the guts to fight.

"You ugly thugs! Turn your head and look at your daddy!", Ye Jin shouted and grin.
"You brat! Who's your daddy? You dare to confront us?", the green hair thug said and look at Ye Jin with an annoying look.

"No! I am your Daddy! And your daddy here is going to kick your asses!", Ye Jin said and set aside his bicycle.

"You! Chang Yu attack that brat!", the blondie mohawk thug said. The red and green mohawk attack Ye Jin together. The lady who is being clutched by the blondie mohawk thug tried to scream so that she can help Ye Jin.

Ye Jin grins and looks at the red and green thug rushing towards his way. The red thug was about to punch Ye Jin's face but Ye Jin dodged it smoothly and his hand extremely move fast and put pressure on the red hair thug back neck. Suddenly, the red hair thug was unconscious. The green, blonde thug and the lady were astonished at the thin man's capability. They didn't know that this thin man can strike the strongest fighter in their group.

"You annoying brat!!", the green hair thug screamed and rushed at Ye Jin with a knife on his hand. In Ye Jin's eyes, everything was moving slowly for him and his attacks are much fiercer than others. Ye Jin grins once again and puts pressure on the green hair thug's forehead. The same thing happened! It was so fast that they can't see what he did. 

"What did you do?!", the blonde hair thug was frustrated. He can't do anything to the beautiful lady now that someone was about to save her! 'This damn brat!', the blonde thug thought. 

"How about you try it yourself?", Ye Jin provokingly said with a grin on his face. The blondie was furious! Since he can't do anything at this, idiot. He takes out his gun and aims it at Ye Jin.

"What the hell?!", Ye Jin was stunned when he saw the gun. It seems that he got no way out of this problem, after all. Ye Jin just stares at the gun and grin.

"Why the hell are you grinning? I can shoot you with this!!", the blondie said. Ye Jin took a step and grin once again, "Go ahead, shoot me!", Ye Jin said
The lady was scared at the thug's gun and screaming for help but her mouth was still tight-lipped. The blondie thug smile and aim the gun at Ye Jin then shoot him.

"Ah? Ah! Yes! Yes! I am Ye Jin from Jiang-Yuan Academy taking BS Major in Neuroscience. Second Year!", Ye Jin introduces himself with enthusiasm, "…and how about you?"

"…my name is Jiang Xiu from Jiang-Yuan Academy taking BS Major in Medicine Pathology.", she said with a smile.
"…nice to meet you, Ms. Jiang.", Ye Jin said and his eyes suddenly look at her dress, "Your dress is already dirty."

"Uhmm…Yes.", Jiang Xiu said while her head is down and blushing.

"Let's go. I'll buy you a dress.", Ye Jin said and smiled at the girl.

"Don't worry. I'll pay your dress and it's already dirty.", Ye Jin said then held the girl's hand.

Jiang Xiu was frozen when Ye Jin holds her hands but she didn't mind Ye Jin's hand holding hers. Jiang Xiu likes it. She thought that if she was with this man, she will be safe. Jiang Xiu stared at his 'Knight in Shining Armor' and she smiles. A smile of a girl who was in love.

The beginning

"Sigh, even with the might of the library I still can't seem to unravel the mystery of the soul realm, I kind of want to see the other worlds, hahaha even the greatest of the world's teacher can't seem to know everything under the heaven, sigh". 
	"I just want to know what happen to be the difference between my souls and the others as I was reincarnated into a human even after going the boundary of the multiverses". The old man is no other than Zhang Xuan the current holder of the library of the heaven's path. "I don't know why my soul is different because every souls that pass the junction of the multiverses must reincarnated into something else entirely and the memory must be erased but why am I the only one that's different as I was reincarnated as a human and have tangible memories"?
	Suddenly he saw a single soul that surprised him."What the hell?!! What is wrong with that soul even my students doesn't have that much destiny with me". The man was utterly shocked because the soul seem to have the most destiny with him, it outshine even his students and family. But he seems to go to another universe entirely". Little guy consider yourself lucky because I'm gonna give you a gift that not even my children nor students ever have". The man closes his eyes and suddenly ten golden papers fly to the soul and the man mutter. "Golden pages do your best to help the soul". And then the soul fades away. "I hope you're safe little guy and may we meet someday"
	 Milk has the weirdest dream. He was arguing with a shop owner about something that seem to be the most ridiculous thing of his life, his name. His parent was a generic parents everyone have kind, lovely even scary when angered and he love them with very much of their heart but their only weakness is their naming sense which he is one the victims of their doing. "No sir my name is milk but I don't want a milk please understand". The shop owner"What? Are you playing with me boy! I ask what you want and you said you want milk and I give you milk then you say you don't want milk but your name is milk, now what? You want to say your name is cookie next?" Milk "Cookie is actually my broth-". Sudden he heard a loud noise and blackness surrounding him and now here he is in this slimy gooey thingy.
"Sigh, is this heaven or hell?  Maybe this is the place between them, because it is uncomfortable and comfortable at the same time. Whatever I'm gonna sleep, it is such a drag to think about something I don't understand, whatever I just hope cookie and syrup will take care of father and mother. While he was sleeping suddenly he saw a vehicle that kind of reminds him of a mobile library in his past life. "What the hell is that?". Suddenly he saw a book fly out of the vehicle. He read the "Welcome to the mobile library of the heaven path. We are glad to announce you that by the intervention of a holder of the main library you have been given the right to reincarnated as human and the privilege of using the mobile library of the heaven path for three years with the accumulated knowledge of your choosing from the multiverse but beware you are only to choose five known knowledge and the library will compile a book of the heaven path and you don't have the privilege of directly absorbing the knowledge from the compiled books ". [Hmm.. reading this book I now know that a being has actually helped me, damn I can't imagine what would have happen if he doesn't help me, I mean it would be great if I can become a bird or something that is able to fly but try to imagine becoming a barnacle that would be the death of me ].
[I must choose wisely from all the knowledge that can be in the multiverse. I've always want to be a doctor so medical  knowledge is  a must, then martial arts maybe, I mean I'm going into an unknown world so I must learn how to protect myself right?. I don't know what else am I going to choose, because it is so hard to choose when there are so many subjects and so little choices.  Hmm maybe something about chi, I mean who doesn't want to learn about chi right soo.. I guess I will learn about those three first. Who knows maybe I will get an inspiration about the knowledge I want later. Okay library, please give me a medical, martial arts and chi training from the multiverse].
Three years has passed and the date line of the library usage has end and our protagonist opened his eyes only to see that he was in some kind of container with green fluids and he was surprised to see that outside the container was some kind of lab, actually much more to the crazy scientist kind of lab.[Well shit, I'm kinda get myself into trouble just after being born , sigh' luckily I learn all of that to learn from the library, I don't know what else to learn except for cooking and all there is about the mind apart from the first three, well who want to be in a new world without knowing what to eat right?  And I'm glad I learn how to strengthen my mind before learning about the others after learning from my mistake, who would have guess that inside of those normal looking books have actually millions of words just in one book not to mention memorize even fast reading will get me no where, kinda lucky that 'mind way of the heaven path' only have thousands of pages and learning  the others are kinda easy with just a page a second after constant training in the way of mind]. 
And then suddenly he saw the door of the lab melted, literally melted and then he saw something that make his jaw slacked, he saw 3 teenagers of maybe 15 to 16 years old enter the lab, he remember them they are from the anime Naruto, they are Jiraiya, Sunade and Orochimaru, he was estatic to know the he  was reborn inside of the Naruto world but also afraid because he knows before Hiruzen become the hokage the world isn't very safe  because of constant war and conflicts and by the look of their age it seems Hiruzen just become the hokage.  He saw them enter and see various expression from their faces, Jiraiya were angry  while Tsunade was crying and full of rage while  Orochimaru was making a face full of intrigue, what can you say he is orochimaru after all. Suddenly he fell dizzy and blacked out, shit I just hope Hiruzen doesn't get me into the root or something.

The couple slowly approached Emily.

The woman was absolutely stunning. She is probably two heads taller than Emily and everything about her was just perfect. Her hair was pale blonde and her eyes were purple in colour, an eye colour that Emily had never seen a human possessed. Frightening, but also elegant on a whole.

However, the man next to her looked menacing. He was much taller than Jai, in fact, he will probably make Jai look shorter than he actually was. His hair was till his broad shoulders and the colour of his hair is just like hers... black. His body was huge and as he approached Emily, he clearly dwarfed her.

Finally, they were just in front of her.

Before she could say anything, the woman pulled her in for a hug. "My child." She called out softly.

That phrase just shot her heart. 

"Mom...?" Emily breathed out in her quivering voice. She was uncertain if that woman was indeed her mother, but yet she felt as if she already knew the answer.

The woman released her and looked straight into her eyes. She could already tell the woman was already about to break into tears, which she could only assume as tears of joy. "Yes, Emily?"

This is her Mother.

Patricia had always provided lots of love and care for her. So much that she swore that she didn't really bother much about her birth parents. But, somehow, now knowing that her parents were just in front of her, she couldn't help but to feel happy.

Tears just filled Emily's eyes. She couldn't help but to cry. Seeing that, her mother started crying as well while saying,  "I was hoping everyday to see you and now that you're here, I'm really happy." Emily was pulled in for a second hug.

Those words just shattered her heart. She always thought that her parents were heartless people, but now that she met them, she was filled with guilt.

"Look, this was supposed to be a happy day. So, you two should stop crying." The man behind them stated. Her mom let go of her and replied, "Well, I can't help it. Anderson, you should say hi to our Daughter, since she already here."

The man approached her with a serious look on his face, "Hi, I'm you Father... If you haven't figure that out." He said it in a very monotonous voice. 

Emily stood there awkwardly for a moment as she wiped her tears, before she saying, "Um... Hi, dad."

The word 'dad' made the man flustered but he quickly regained his composure.

So, this is her... Father.

They stood there in silence. Awkward silence.

"You are hopeless, aren't you?" Her mom sighed, "You can't stop talking about her a few minutes ago, and now she's right in front of you, you just can't say anything."

Her mom walked towards her and grabbed both her hands, "Sorry, he's a really hopeless, awkward and antisocial man. Forgive him, okay?" Those words just dragged his ego down, but sadly it was pretty much the truth.

Afterwards, they had breakfast together with the others. That was one great feast, everything just tasted so good. Except there fact that she didn't know what cutlery to use. There many different ones, which she can only grouped them together into three groups and labelled them as forks, spoons and knives.

Just as they are eating, Mary remembered, "Oh yes, Emily. I almost forgot, here you go." She passed Emily a thick book. 

"What's this?" Emily asked while scrutinising at it as if she is observing a rare fossil of some kind. 

"Well, as the Princess, you need to pick some people to really work under you. They will be the one who you will be fighting with in the future. Choose wisely though, they will be with you forever. For a start you should pick eight." Mary gave the book a light tap before she continued, "In this book, it contains the information there are insanely stronge espers, mages, summoners, warriors, assassi--"

Emily did not want intercepted her explanation but she did. "Wait, what?! Mages? Espers? Summoners? Aren't those supposed to be in fantasy?"

"Well yeah, to humans on Earth they are supposed to be in fantasy. However, no one said that they don't exist here." Mary grinned playfully, "Almost everyone here possessed a supernatural ability."

Emily had no idea how to respond, because all these things are too much for her to process. "WHAT?!"

"No. Way." She blurted out, partially still in disbelief. 

"I know it's hard to take in, so you can take you time. With that being said, you should pick a couple of people to protect you at the very least." Mary replied. 

"Protect me? From what?" This time she felt more worried than confused. "Um... Everything?" Mary gave an not-so-assuring answer.

The queen took a napkin and delicately wiped her mouth. "Well, Mary partially right. Since you're back in Fiore, there's no doubt that the news of your arrival will attract many people." She paused and looked at Emily directly in the eye, "Some of them might even hunt you down and capture you, for their own benefits."

Emily was stunned. "Well... Maybe being the Princess of this place isn't such a great idea."

"You don't have to worry, this is why we want you to pick a couple of people to protect you temporarily, until you know how to protect yourself. Afterwards, they will just be your comrades who you will be fighting with." The queen assured with a smile. 

Learning how to protect herself? As in, learning how to be in combat? The last time she checked, she didn't have any talent for that. Also, supernatural abilities? What? The only ability she has is to scare other away using her 'supernatural' and 'ever-so-majestic' black hair.

"Erm... I don't think I have any talent for that kind of stuff. So, I think I'm not up for the task." Emily admitted with her head hanging slightly.

There was a few seconds of silence before it was broken by Lavi's loud burp. "Ah, that was satisfying." He said to himself before speaking directly to Emily. "What are you talking about? Remember yesterday when I told you only 'special' people can see that translucent wall? I wasn't lying, that is a invisible barrier. It's placed around the headquarters so that it will be invisible to humans. This is also why there weren't any news on that huge ass building, even though it was clearly right there. Since you can see it, this means that you're probably not a human being. To back that up, both his and her majesty possessed supernatural abilities that are known to be ridiculously strong. So, there's no doubt that you will have an ability of some sort. We just don't know what is it yet, don't give up that easily."

That surprised Emily, she didn't know how Lavi could motivate someone like that. After hearing that, she felt like her mood has lighten up. "Thanks, Lavi."

Upon hearing that, his lips curved up to form a grin, "Don't mention it." 

"Alright then, I just need to pick eight people, right?" Emily asked to clarify. 

Mary replied with a nod.

"Okay, can I pick people whom are not in this book?" Emily asked again.

"Well, you can do that. This book just have people we recommend." The queen answered her question while retaining her gentle smile.

"Then I've decided." She proclaimed with a satisfied smile as she gently pushed the book away, "I'll pick Jai, Anna, Beck, Ben, Mary, Ethan and Lavi."

Everyone at the table looked at her as if she's speaking gibberish. "That's seven, right? Well, as for the last one..." She tapped her chin with one of her fingers repeatedly before the coming to a conclusion. 

At this moment, she remembered a particular someone.

"Yukiko."
