The two men turned their head when they heard Gun-Ho.
"Oh, Mr. Gun-Ho Goo."
"Hi, how are you? Long time no see. How are you, Manager Gweon?"
Manager Gweon stood up and extended his hand to Gun-Ho for a handshake with a smile.
"I heard you went to China. Are you coming back for good?"
"Yes, sir."
"How was China? If I remember correctly, you ran a Korean restaurant over there."
"Right. I had a Korean restaurant and also invested some in real estate too."
"Hmm… I'm not sure about the restaurant, but I believe you probably made some money from your real estate investment."
"Huh? Oh, yes… a little…"
"Haha, you did? Have you thought of what you want to do in Korea?"
"I haven' decided yet, but I am taking a course about auction."
"He had done his investment in real estate in China, and now he wants to know about auction, right? Lieutenant Colonel Gweon?"
Manager Gweon jumped up once he heard Chairman Lee calling him Lieutenant Colonel.

Manager Gweon sitting next to Chairman Lee was pulling in a fish as well. The fish he pulled in looked weird like a catfish.
"Fish is biting today."
Chairman Lee and Manager Gweon attached new bait.
Gun-Ho didn't leave to his spot but stayed there because he wanted to learn from Chairman Lee, not about fishing, but about making money. Chairman Lee started talking.
"So, are you going to be a real estate investor while learning auction?"
"I don't have enough seed money yet. I'm doing stock day trading right now."
"Stocks? I don't recommend it. You don't know the other player's card. You can't even trust the rumors from Yeouido stock street. It's very risky."
"Haha, you are right. I'm losing right now. The good thing is I haven't invested much in stocks yet. I just tried a little for fun."
"I think I mentioned this to you earlier. If you can't be sure, then do not invest your money in it. You don't lose just money but you could risk your life."
"Huh?"
"Manager Gweon here, he lost all he had by investing in stocks. After he was discharged from the military, he started stocks. He lost his home and his health was seriously impaired at the time."
Manager Gweon scratched his head in embarrassment.
"He was lucky to have a wise wife who could save him, right?"
Manager Gweon nodded his head, implying his agreement with Chairman Lee.
 
"By the way, Chairman Lee. You mentioned earlier that there would be people who would make money right after I told you about the protest against Four Major Rivers Project. What did you mean by that?"
Chairman Lee turned his head to look at Gun-Ho and he smiled.
"How do I know for sure? I'm just speculating."
"What sort of speculation?"
Manager Gweon seemed to be curious as well, and he looked at Chairman Lee's face.
"Do you think Myung-Bak Lee will be elected?"
"I've heard he will be more likely elected."
"If so, would he start the Four Major Rivers Project?"
"Umm… I think he would since it is his campaign promise."
"If so, who would benefit the most from the project?"
"Well… hmm…"
"The answer is right there. If you can be certain that he would be elected."
Gun-Ho felt like he has been hit on the head with a hammer. However, he was still skeptical.
 
"He might not be elected, right? There are a lot of variable factors that play in the election."
"That's the thing. The difference between a wise man and a stupid man is whether he could read the other player's card."
"Oh, I see."
"A person who makes money knows how to grab an opportunity even during the confusing and depressing times. Even during a war or during the IMF crisis, there is someone who makes money while most people are going through a difficult time."
It became quiet for a moment before Gun-Ho got up to leave.
"Thank you for your advice, Chairman Lee. I will go to my spot for fishing now."
"When you try to catch fish, try to catch your mind as well. Haha"
"Thank you again."
Gun-Ho learned another wisdom from Chairman Lee that day.
 
Once Gun-Ho came back home, he started thinking.
"When I decided to invest in QM Steel, I wasn't sure about their business. I just like things I see on the chart and invested."

A week was given to sell stocks of QM Steel. Even during this period, speculators tried everything they could to make money. The price kept going up and down by the manipulators.
"Some people still make money during this final sale period. Wow."
Since Gun-Ho had no information at all, he just put his stocks at the current market price. He made 3,000,000 won after investing 30,000,000 won.
"There could be someone who would commit suicide if that person borrowed money to invest in QM Steel."

"Alright. I'll see you tomorrow sharp at noon." Laura finally accepted his request and turned around to walk into her office. Her cabin was on the fifth floor. To her surprise, Lily was already waiting for her near the elevator.
"You're back, Boss. You might not want to deal with him for now." Lily was really tensed as she held the files tightly.
"What is it?" Laura asked as both of them stepped into the elevator. 
After the door closed, Lily was back to her cool Lily mode of not addressing her Boss as 'Boss' but 'Laura'.
"Laura, you know about David?" 
"Yes, is that what you're talking about. How did you know?" no one else knew about Jacob being a hacker.
"The reports updated from David's computer were uploaded yesterday. When I had checked all the reports this morning, I found the errors. I started working on the papers to see what exactly was changed in the uploaded data. By the time I figured it out, it was too late. Someone had already changed the wrong reports to the original one. And to my surprise, it was Jacob's computer. I had tracked the audit log of all the systems of the company, it turned out to be Jacob who solved all this mess. No wonder why he was in your cabin when I had come to you." Lily was smart enough to figure this out. Being the assistant of the company, she had all the powers to see the functioning of the company.
"What do we do now?" 
"We will do what we need to do." Laura smirked. Lily looked at her best friend and knew that David won't get an easy resignation from the company. 
As soon as they reached her cabin, Laura asked Lily to make a call to David.
Lily called David and the call was received in three rings.
"Good afternoon, Mr.David. Boss wants to meet you in her office. Thank you." she ended the call right after speaking, not giving David a chance to speak.
Soon after a few minutes, a middle-aged man appeared in the cabin knocking on the door three times.
"Good afternoon, Ms. Williams…" David's confident face showed no signs of nervousness. 
"Come, have you seat, Mr. David." Laura smiled and gestured him to take his seat across the table, in front of her.
"How's your day going?" she asked, her smile never left her face.
"All good so far." David answered.
"That's good. What I am going to say isn't good news." Laura typed something quick on her keyboard and turned her personal computer towards David.
"Have a look." she ordered.
David tried to maintain his calm to not get nervous seeing the charts displayed on the screen.
"Our company's stock charts. I never expected a slope in the chart. What happened that made the chart slope down?" she asked, acting innocent.
"Oh, this isn't good. I'll look after it." David apologised.

'How lovely.' Thought Lily to herself.

"Ah, that's not required I guess?" Laura smiled again. Now David started to find the smile creepy.
"Sorry?" he was confused. Didn't she want to correct the reports?
"You're fired, Mr. David." all of a sudden, the smile turned into a straight line and the soft expression on Laura's face turned into a fierce one.
"Pardon?" David thought he heard something wrong.
"You're fired, Mr. David. Simple as it is. Bother to explain who gave you money to change those charts? I'm pretty sure, you got a hefty amount for this. Sadly, we found this out before your plan worked out."

“Mr. David, do you have anything to say to prove your innocence?”  a lady in her mid-twenties, asked the man standing in front of her desk. Her face was full of grace, her brown eyes reflected confidence, and her attitude; a class apart.
“No, Ma’am. I have nothing else to say. I admit my mistakes.” David’s eyes were downcast and had no courage to look at her fierce eyes.
“Draft a termination letter and specify the remarks in the code of conduct certificate. Make sure you report every single mistake he committed during his stay in this company.” the lady directed her secretary, Lily, while reaching out to a file, out of the stack of files on her desk.
 
“Leave.” She looked at the man hanging his head in dishonor.

The hype surrounding the upcoming release of Iris Long's new album "Rebirth Melodies" was due to several factors. 

First was that it was the piano version of the already successful "Rebirth" album. 

Second was that it would be accompanied by a complete piano songbook which was of great interest not only to pianists but also to other instrumental musicians as well. Even to those who weren't musicians but were Iris Long fans, especially the Black Stars, the songbook was a great collectible.

Third was that it was an album intended to be released internationally right from the start. 

Fourth and the biggest factor of all was that the album was first announced alongside the bombshell about Iris Long being appointed as official composer for an as of yet unknown film.

These were the reasons why it broke pre-order records for instrumental albums in the country's music history.

Despite the hype and the record-breaking pre-order sales, many music industry experts still predicted that "Rebirth Melodies" wouldn't be able to directly compete against the usual pop albums because it was an instrumental album. They reasoned that the majority of people weren't that interested in purely instrumental music.

In the past, the only instrumental albums that could directly compete in the music charts were the official soundtracks of popular TV drama and movies. Even albums by the country's most celebrated classic instrumental musicians rarely entered the music charts.

"Rebirth Melodies" wasn't any of these, not an official soundtrack of a popular TV drama or film, and Iris Long wasn't a celebrated classic instrumental musician either. So the music industry experts' skepticism about the album made sense.

Finally, the release day of Iris Long's album "Rebirth Melodies" arrived. Following the music industry experts' skepticism, many radio stations declined to play the album's piano songs. Only a handful readily played them, including DJ Song's radio show.

Despite not getting sufficient radio airplay, "Rebirth Melodies" still managed to debut at number 8 in the music charts. It accomplished this feat based purely on streaming power and sales. It was currently the only instrumental album in the music charts' top 100.

Its daily streaming power was on its way to catching up to the original "Rebirth" album. People liked to listen to "Rebirth" and "Rebirth Melodies" simultaneously to compare. The two albums technically contained the same songs, but listeners were quickly discovering that "Rebirth Melodies" had a completely different vibe from the original album.

Iris Long didn't just transcribe the original songs as they were but rearranged them to evoke purer and rawer emotions from the listeners.

In the original "Rebirth" album, the presence of Iris Long herself and her amazing vocals added a big entertainment element to the listening experience. Her skillful and emotional singing was the album's most important quality.

In "Rebirth Melodies", however, this element was not present. There were no vocals, so the listeners were left only with their pure emotions evoked directly by the piano music.

As for the piano songbook, people had the option of buying it separately or with the album, no matter if the album was a physical or a digital copy. Since the songbook was published in book format, it was listed as such and was also available in all major bookstores. It quickly became a bestseller, breaking records for the fastest selling sheet music in the country.

The industry experts were stunned. Then some classic instrumental musicians expressed their displeasure with how "Rebirth Melodies" continued to break records. 

One of the most accomplished classical pianists in the country who was treated as a national pride for decades was recorded saying, "I'm utterly disappointed that instead of learning to appreciate proper classical music, our younger generation today are choosing to listen to some pop singer's simplistic piano transcription. This is further proof of the degradation in the education of our youth today. They don't know how to discern real art from sham. I feel insulted not only for myself but for all the real pianists in the world that a mere pop singer is pretending to be one of us."

This comment by such a famous pianist caused headlines.

The Black Stars were, of course, enraged. And since the pianist also criticized young people, even those who weren't Iris Long fans felt offended by his comment.

"What a snob! I hate people like him the most who think that they're better than the rest of us just because we don't know how to 'appreciate proper classical music'. Proper, my a**! Boring is more like it!"

"He's just jealous because despite winning many awards, his albums never sold well. Why? Because he's just playing the same classical music over and over. Even his own compositions sound like the ones composed by Beethoven, Mozart and the other greats. No originality at all. He just plays the piano really well. At least, Iris Long creates her own music AND plays well."

"Your time is up, old man. Stay in the past where you belong! This is the era of our generation. And if we choose to like Iris Long, we'll like her! Backward people like you don't have any right to tell us what to do!"

The pianist didn't expect such a backlash from his comment. He felt upset and humiliated. As a result, his fellow classical musicians quickly banded together to defend him.

Although Iris Long personally didn't say or do anything against them, these classical musicians still blamed her for disrespecting one of the most respected pianists in the country. They demanded an apology from her.

Saleen stood guard 5 kilometers from the Rough Stone of Darkness and used his Thundering Phantasm to destroy the god's shades from the Rough Stone of Darkness.
Theisio could not help but feel immense regret. He had entered the rough stone, and leaving was far too difficult. Unless Saleen allowed him to quietly summon a god to create a body for him, he would be trapped within the Rough Stone of Darkness until his death.

Time dragged on. Saleen calculated that Theisio's summoning the gods was slower and slower. It was not because Theisio's capabilities had increased, but because Theisio was testing Saleen's power.
Saleen's calculating was stronger than Theisio's. He was able to calculate that, unless Theisio was able to use frames as a unit of measurement in summoning the gods, his mental power could hold for a few days.
Saleen retrieved the Thunder Dragon Blaster to refine it again.
The runes on the Thunder Dragon Blaster were too simple.He possessed 360,000,000 lightning runes, so he could promote the Thunder Dragon Blaster to a higher grade.
The Thunder Dragon Blaster originally shot lightning icicles. Saleen no longer needed that as he knew how to condense balls of lightning. Using the Thunder Dragon Blaster to shoot out a ball of lightning would be a fatal attack. 
What Saleen needed to consider was whether or not to retain the power of the lightning icicles.
Releasing a ball of lightning would be too stressful for the Thunder Dragon Blaster. The time would take to recover would probably be way too long. Saleen was also afraid that the Thunder Dragon Blaster would refine into a piece of equipment that he could only use once in half a year. He could not bear it.
Saleen calmed his mind, retrieved the level 19 Star Gathering Needle, and began to draw star charts on the inner part of the Thunder Dragon Blaster. If he wanted to stabilize the Thunder Dragon Blaster, it was a necessary procedure. After the thunder dragon materials had been refined, they would be at the pinnacle of level 16. Adding in star charts and starlines made sure that the equipment would not be under too much pressure every time a ball of lightning was released.
The power of the constellations in the Star Gathering Needle was poured into the star charts by Saleen. Saleen had already decided to gift the Star Gathering Needle to Gaine, sp there was no longer any need to conserve the power inside it.
What Gaine wanted was the needle, not the power in it. Gaine would be able to escape from the Astrology Tower with the needle. After escaping from the Astrology Tower and entering a higher ranked Crystal Wall system, Gaine wished to regain a human body, which was not difficult either.
The Thunder Dragon's appearance did not change much. The starlines and star charts were engraved on the inner part of the Thunder Dragon Blaster. Saleen was timid. He wanted to avoid destroying the properties of the materials themselves. If not for the fact that thunder dragons were naturally able to manipulate electric currents, the Thunder Dragon Blaster could not possibly have been smelted either.
If the materials were destroyed, it would be very difficult for Saleen to find the same materials again.
Saleen refined 360 star charts in the pipe of the Thunder Dragon Blaster. The star charts consumed a large portion of the energy in the level 19 Star Gathering Needle. The constellations' radiance flowed along the Thunder Dragon Blaster. Only then did millions of lightning runes fly out before Saleen's eyes and gradually vanish inside the Thunder Dragon Blaster.

A huge thunder dragon shade surfaced in the blaster. The thunder dragon was over 600 meters long. It roared in Saleen's lightning territory. Saleen looked at the weapon's spirit he had created and without hesitation, he measured out even more Six Elements' Heavy Water from his necklace and gave it to the thunder dragon's shade to devour.
The thunder dragon suddenly drilled into the Thunder Dragon Blaster. It seemed that it was impossible for the shade to become a real thunder dragon. Saleen did not mind. He saw that the Thunder Dragon Blaster had changed into the likeness of the shade.
The space between the two sharp horns on its head had formed an octagonal magic array. The middle of the array was the place where the ball of lightning would be released. The mouth of the Thunder Dragon Blaster continued to be where the lightning icicles were released. 
Saleen was extremely satisfied. It was already good that this item had not been spoiled.
A small silver ball of lightning appeared between the two horns of the Thunder Dragon Blaster. It was probably only the size of a pinecone, while the size of the balls of lightning created by Saleen's thunder dragons were the size of a watermelon.
The difference between the energy contained in the two types of lightning was not small. Saleen was satisfied. Although a large ball of lightning was powerful, it was still a waste of energy. The ball of lightning was small, but it was sufficient to kill strong enemies. The area in which lightning was the most amazing was rules. No matter how little energy was contained in it, it surpassed most of the magic spells that Saleen knew.

The scales of the dragon body of the Thunder Dragon Blaster were still growing. Four dragon claws clasped Saleen's arm. Saleen felt like a thunder dragon was growing on his arm. The feeling allowed Saleen to become more familiar with the rules of lightning.
As for the weapon's spirit inside, Saleen tried to summon it, feeling that the weapon's spirit did not have much intelligence. He would still need his own mental power to maneuver the piece of equipment when he used it.
The good thing was that Saleen had time. He did not expect that once he was a level 10, he would be able to refine a satisfactory piece of equipment.
Saleen quickly recovered his mental power with a divine crystal. The refining session had consumed over half of his mental power. The Dark God of Destruction's shades were still appearing from the Rough Stone of Darkness increasingly quickly.

It had a weapon's spirit. The effects of its usage obviously surpassed its original self.
The Dark God of Destruction had already descended to his death. What the Rough Stone of Darkness summoned was merely the power of rules that had been formed before. It could simulate the Dark God of Destruction's power and properties. The stone was even more stable than a divine persona. Hundreds of millions of years ago, the Dark God of Destruction had been born from that piece of stone.
The ball of lightning hit the newly appeared god's shade dead on. This time, the lightning was not destroyed along with the shade. Rather, it erupted with a strong Thundering Sound, shaking the clone until it shattered. Then, the ball of lightning crashed into the Rough Stone of Darkness headfirst.

Fang Zhao was still frowning, so Chu Guang turned on his bracelet screen and switched to draw mode.
"To put it in simple terms…"
Chu Guang drew two circles on his screen and connected them with a straight line. He pointed to the circle on the left. "Let’s say this is the tough guy type." Then he gestured to the circle on the right. "This is the pansy type."
Fang Zhao nodded.
Chu Guang drew a third circle in the middle of the line. "This is the hybrid. During the Reg Era, most virtual idols were centrists or center-left. Even if right-leaning idols existed, they were a minority. But after the Reg Era, virtual idols veered to the right. That’s why my uncle made that comment. Even though he was exaggerating and things aren’t that bad, the overall data supports this trend."
Fang Zhao understood. He had read about the transformation of virtual idols in his research as well. To compete with real idols, virtual idols had to reinvent themselves—and their evolution did indeed lean toward the right of the spectrum as Chu Guang had said.
Chu Guang turned off his bracelet screen. "This is a visual era. Standards of beauty shift from generation to generation. The top idols during the Reg Era may not be successful if they were transplanted to today. You can see traces of the classic idols from the Reg Era in today’s virtual idols, but they have been tailored to current aesthetic standards so they can better fit prevailing visual preferences. Just like our styles as composers will evolve over our lifetimes."

There were many more charts beyond the New Pioneers Chart. The New Pioneers Chart was only a starter chart. They had many other charts to climb.
After leaving campus, Chu Guang drove away in his flying car. Fang Zhao boarded his train too. He had to switch trains once to get to his black street.
When Fang Zhao got home, it was already 4 p.m. The black street was still dark.
Curly Hair sensed Fang Zhao’s arrival and was waiting by the door. When Fang Zhao entered, it whimpered and wagged its tail vigorously.
Fang Zhao scanned his apartment. Nothing was broken. He fondled the dog on the head and poured food onto its plate.
He had just set down his briefcase and barely finished a glass of water when his bracelet indicated a call.
Fang Zhao raised his eyebrows when he saw the caller ID.
When he answered, Fang Sheng’s face appeared.
After being crowded out by Fang Zhao on the New Pioneers Chart, Fang Sheng’s stock at Neon Culture had no doubt suffered, even though it hadn’t completely tanked.
It was their first contact in some time. Fang Sheng looked less obnoxious. His horrible pallor, puffy eyes. and the dark green circles surrounding them suggested he was in bad shape. It had been a while since he'd last slept well.
"You cunning bastard." Fang Sheng gritted his teeth.
"Why, thank you." Fang Zhao was oblivious to the anger in his tone. Did thieves have the right to be angry?
"You must be delighted to have pulled a fast one on me, eh?" Fang Sheng was convinced that Fang Zhao had held back a song from him as a precaution. Otherwise, where did the "hehe" song come from? He never knew about it when they were close.
You couldn’t blame Fang Sheng for his suspicions. Yet a diary entry written during heartbreak was very private. Unless Fang Zhao completed the piece, he would have never shown it to anyone, even Fang Sheng, whom he considered a close friend back then.
Fang Zhao ignored the question. He put down his glass and stared at Fang Sheng. "You think this is over?"
Fang Sheng was going to make fun of Fang Zhao for being stuck with the virtual idol project at Silver Wing. Instead, he was caught off guard by Fang Zhao’s response. "What do you mean?"
"Just wait and see."
Wait for what?
What did Fang Zhao have up his sleeve?
Could Fang Zhao have held back other songs?
"What do you mean, Fang Zhao? Be straight with me."
Fang Zhao hung up, shunning the panicked Fang Sheng.
He walked to the corner where he composed and pulled open the drawer where the original owner of his body kept his diary. He added the medal he'd received today at graduation from Yanzhou Music Association for his fifth-place finish in the new talent contest.
Even though Fang Zhao arranged the song, his body’s original owner was the composer. He deserved the credit.
"I’ll take care of the rest."
Now that he had graduated, Fang Zhao didn’t need to go to campus anymore. It was also summer break, and the next virtual idol course didn’t start until September. It was only early July. That was more than a month away.
Fang Zhao had to draft a project proposal in the next month; otherwise, he would be too busy to sit in on the virtual idol class come the new semester.
Recruiting a team could wait. First, Fang Zhao had to decide on the look of his virtual idol.
Fang Zhao understood everything Chu Guang had said, but he was an old relic parachuted into the present time, after all. He was still absorbing.
Why not retain the core of past virtual idols and repackage it?
Virtual idols had an edge in that they didn’t have to be human. There was a huge market for the fairies and demons that ruled the Reg Era and furry, cute pet animals. Some of the classics lasted several generations. Different styles catered to different demographics.

When he was having breakfast in the morning, Fang Zhao noticed the paper notebook sticking out of his briefcase. He used it to take notes when he was doing research in his office. Eventually, there had been too much information to jot down, so he'd started scanning pages with his bracelet instead.
But among the few lines in the notebook was a quote that stuck with him. Something the father of virtual idols, Reg Smith, had said: "I worship only what I create."
Composing was a form of creativity.
Even an artist trapped in a cage was free at heart.
"I worship only what I create."
Fang Zhao repeated the quote again in a low voice and laughed. He opened the notebook and started drawing with a pen.
No one knew that the core of this body had endured the end of days. Fang Zhao couldn’t shed his experiences from his soul.
Instead of second-guessing all the time, why not give yourself free rein?
Time passed and light started seeping through the windows. The noon sun was about to arrive.
Dressed in a wife-beater and baggy boxers, Yue Qing dragged a chair to his storefront for his daily tan. He was surprised that Fang Zhao hadn’t showed up yet.
"Did the kid head out?" Ai Wan stopped by to ask.
"I dunno. Didn’t see him this morning." Yue Qing scanned Fang Zhao’s window, which was open.
"He hasn’t left. The kid’s still in," Yue Qing confirmed.
"That’s odd. Very unusual." Ai Wan shook his head. Out of occupational habit, he had studied Fang Zhao for days. There was something off about him. He was a bit guarded. Maybe all artists were like that.
Inside the apartment, Curly Hair had just finished his breakfast and was resting quietly. Its droopy ears occasionally shifted in sync with the hustle and bustle outside.
The noon sunlight and the noise didn’t affect Fang Zhao’s concentration at all.

Roland bought a piece of freshly made honey bread in Lake View Tavern. He was about to eat it, when the game world paused and turned monochrome.
Twenty-four hours had flown away so quickly. Roland sighed and exited the game. It had been years since he was so addicted to a game. Most games on the market today were too similar. He grew bored of every new game after playing it for several days even though they were all AAA games, because he always felt that he had somehow played them before.
However, World of Falan was different. It was the first immersive MMORPG worldwide. By casting their consciousness away from reality, the players were able to have adventures in an alternate world under a different identity.
A world so broad that one might not be able to see the whole of it in their entire life, billions of lifelike NPCs, and a hundred countries of different races… Roland was excited by the thought of it.
He felt lucky that he made up his mind to buy a game cabin. There were only five hundred thousand of them worldwide. People who missed the purchase window had to wait for a long time before Penguin Corporation released the next batch.
After he exited the game, Roland worked out on a treadmill for half an hour as usual. He then had breakfast and checked the forum again.
As he expected, many people were encouraging Penguin Corporation to sell the next batch of virtual cabins. Some were even offering to pay ten thousand more bucks to buy a second-hand virtual cabin.
After reading a few random threads, Roland went to the Spellcaster Section and posted the profiles of Hand of Magic and several interesting nodes. He also announced that players would receive a Backpack when they leveled up. After that, he browsed through other threads.
He never thought that he was the smartest player in the game. After all, many people knew mathematical models. It was just that a lot of Mages, who were highly intelligent in reality, never thought about that before. Now that Roland had opened a door for them, they could certainly walk through it.
As Roland had expected, new threads on spells appeared in the section. One particular thread drew his interest.
"As long as you remember the nodes of a spell and successfully cast it once, you will be able to learn it. I'm a Mage specializing in enchantment, and I only know Hypnosis, Animal Control, and Mind Influence. I learned the chart of nodes for Inferior Fireball on the forum by heart. After dozens of failures, I successfully cast Inferior Fireball, and the icon of Inferior Fireball appeared in my Magic Book. It's evident that spells can be learned. The Pioneer… Roland felt rather embarrassed. He tipped the female player named Serena ten forum coins, before he copied the four charts of Hypnosis down.
He then copied the charts provided by another three Mage players on the forum. Of course, he did not forget to tip them ten forum coins each.
Now, he had four new charts of magic nodes. All of them were level-one spells, namely Hypnosis, Strengthening, Ice Ring, and Arcane Bullet.
Roland copied the profiles of the four spells into his game cabin with a flash disk. Then, he realized that his new post had received thousands of bucks' worth in tips. Looking at his forum coins, he had never thought that making money could be so easy.
After that, he left home on a bike and hung around with his friends in the cold drink bar. When the night came, he crawled into the virtual cabin again and entered the game.
In the game world in the following days, Roland mined in the morning and studied new spells with the profiles of spells he obtained from the forum in the afternoon and at night.
It was not until he had real practice that Roland learned how difficult it was to pick up a new spell. Unlike the existing spells in the Magic Book, which would automatically generate a 3D graph of the magic nodes in his consciousness, the new spells offered nothing. Roland had to construct a space of magic nodes with his magic power on his own, before he correctly filled the magic nodes in with his mind.
Constructing the models of magic nodes with the charts he copied alone had taken Roland a lot of time. The chart of every spell required more than ten hours and a dozen failures. It was not until he learned the new spells that their icons would appear in the Magic Book.
Then, to be versed in the new spells, Roland still had to test and infer the effects of the magic nodes.
After several days, four bright gold icons appeared in Roland's Magic Book. After grasping the four spells, Roland reached Level 2, but he was not very happy, because he realized that there would be fewer and fewer Mages in the future.
Life for a Mage was too hard. Learning a new spell required a good sense of space, understanding of math and logic, and tremendous patience.
Roland knew that a lot of people in the game must be smarter than him, but not all of them were Mages. After all, there were many classes in this game, and different people had different preferences.
There must be a lot of Mages who were weaker than him in terms of comprehensive abilities. They would run out of patience if it took days or even weeks for them to learn a spell.
Some of them might not be able to learn new spells at all due to lack of spatial awareness or logical thinking. Even if they managed to grasp level-one spells, there were still spells of higher levels and difficulties. Would they have the patience to learn such spells?
When they noticed that Warlocks and Priests could wield powerful spells with a simple chant without having to memorize it, and that new spells automatically appeared when their levels increased, the Mages would be even more dissatisfied and would even complain.
Then, they would demand the game producers reduce the difficulty of Mages on the forum.
However, Roland did not think that their attempt would work.
After another day in the game, when Roland left the game and opened the forum, he realized that the Spellcaster Section was indeed a mess. Many Mages had posted that if the game producers did not change the setting and lower the difficulty for Mages to learn spells, they would delete their characters and ask for a refund.
Roland sighed. Things had happened exactly as he expected. It remained to be seen how the game producers would handle it.

Sam went back to the mansion and entered the divine dimension after he assigned the task of renovation.
He needs to open another business too. He looked at the all the crystal bamboo plants which he planted in various elemental zones. The next business he wanted to enter was the alcohol business.
He planned to enter this business even before his encounter with Zeke, now that he has one more reason and that is to, counter Zeke's restaurants he is thinking of making it completely large scale.
Sam checked on all the herbs he planted. They are completely mature by now. These herbs are the ones he bought in Falcon Cliff city. He planted all the live herbs to have get the stock himself.
But now he is thinking on how to proceed in preparing the liquor. He can prepare it with the herbs if he wants to. All the herbs he has are mostly the ones which will help a person to purify his body and reduce the impurities which will impact the cultivation.
They aren't the ones which will act as elixirs and help them raise the cultivation. But he is a little worried about the taste and thought that he should need use some fruits to make the liquor. But finding the fruits suitable for cultivation aren't easy to find at all. So, he must think of the issue later, but opening a restaurant isn't that difficult.
He went to the first-floor library and went to a corner section. This is a section named Elixirs and this included pill recipes, potion recipes etc. This doesn't include the techniques and fundamentals of these processes, but it only contains pure recipes and the actions to be performed to make the Elixir and at the corner of the section there is a divine will called 'Spirit culinary'.
Sam took in the information to go through the recipes of various dishes which uses meat of various types of magical beasts and spiritual herbs.
This spirit culinary is a way to make the required elixirs in cultivation through cooking. This is also more efficient than other ways like Pills and Potions, which might have some side effects. The risks are minimum with spirit culinary.
After all, a human being's health is best when it was managed by diet instead of medicines. Just like in modern world, if a person takes heavy medicine for every small ailment his bodily functions will be damaged.
Sam only came out of the tower at noon. He spent a lot of time just to digest the recipes. If he wants to practice it, he will have to spend a lot of time. Even though, he is good at learning, things like cooking are the skills which are honed with practice. He isn't an exception.
At the same time Marquis is in his court room. He just finished his morning meeting with the officials, and everyone just left. An attendant came and gave him a scroll containing the info on Sam. Even though, the Falcon Cliff city and Blue flame city are far from each other, he still has ways to get in contact with the Count Falcon.
And he found that Sam is from the Falcon-Cliff city? Because, Sam intentionally conceal his tracks. He left a big clue to investigate and that is buying the mansion as well as using the Golden- Horse trading company.
So, Marquis easily got the info and when he looked at this, he was quite surprised. A fifteen-year-old boy, at Novice level 1 and well versed in multiple professions, with a battle-prowess off the charts. He is a genius. That is the only thing that came to his mind.
After reading the info, he only felt even more anger towards his eldest son. He still didn't know what his son did to this genius to be offended to this extent.
Yes, he still doesn't know even after contacting the Count because, the latter didn't reveal Zeke's attack on the candidates to the Marquis.
He doesn't want to get himself involved in between the father and son.
Marquis opened another scroll which has info of Sam when he was still in Starwood city. When he saw the details about how he took revenge on the noble families by destroying the younger generation's chances of entering the academy, he felt even surprised. This 15-year-old genius is quite vengeful. And when he saw the news that he is orphan, he felt that he could get to stop Sam from his revenge.
After all, if the other party has a powerful background, he must think twice. But now that the other party is an orphan, who only entered the cultivation world recently, he can use some carrot and stick strategies to get him to stop. As for, how the other party learnt all his skills, he isn't very curious about it. Marquis cannot offend him, but he also didn't have to curry his favour.
Sam smiled in amusement and sent back the message the he accepted the invitation, but he also mentioned that he would be bringing a friend.
After sending the messenger away, Sam went on his way. After buying the two restaurants in front of Zeke's restaurant, he went to his new bought weapon shops, where the three Architects are working. He took one of them back to the restaurants and explained him on how he wanted them to be renovated.
After explaining them everything and was done with his work, he went to the Artisan tower. He went to meet Chaya and when she saw him, she felt quite surprised.
"Didn't we just meet in the morning? Why are you here again?" She asked.
"I need your help with something."
"Oh, what is it?"
"I am invited by marquis to dinner. I want you to come with me."
"Why is he inviting you and why are you inviting me?"
"Well, I am targeting that Zeke for a reason, so the marquis wants to have a chat with me. Even though, I am someone of status, I have no considerable background to speak of. My power isn't enough to make him cautious yet. So, I want to use our business relationship as a deterrent to him."
"Sure, when?" Chaya replied after some thought. She clearly understood what Sam meant.
"Now. We will be leaving in an hour you can take care of your work in this time."
Chaya nodded and went back to work while Sam waited for her.
Later that evening, Sam and Chaya went to the Marquis mansion on her personal carriage.
When the attendant who is assigned to receive Sam saw Chaya coming along with Sam, he immediately got tensed.
Even though, he is an attendant, but he is still a confidant of the Marquis. He clearly knew what Marquis' intention for inviting Sam is today, but never did they expect that the friend Sam mentioned would be Chaya the rank 5 Artisan and the tower head of the Artisan tower.
She isn't like Sam who has only rank but no cultivation, but she is someone who not only has a rank but also relevant cultivation.
Sam and Chaya were led to the dining room where marquis was already waiting for them. Even though, he wants to suppress Sam a bit, he is doing this only because of his son. He still has respect for Sam and his achievements.

After some time, Marquis stopped beating around bush and asked.
"Artisan Sam, I think that you and my son Zeke are having some problems. Are there some misunderstandings?"
"Oh, Marquis indeed has great insight. You found out quite early. It has only been two days since I came to the city after all."
Seeing that Sam directly agreed, Marquis felt that matter isn't that simple. It seemed as if Sam is anticipating this meeting.
"May I know what happened between you guys?"
"I would like it if your son explained it himself. You can call him now. I don't mind." When Sam said this marquis frowned but still complied and sent someone to call his son over.
When Zeke came, he didn't come alone. A middle-aged man came along with him and Marquis frowned at that.
The person who came is none other than the commander of the city guards. But he also has another identity, he is the brother of his three wives and Zeke's uncle.
Both took the seat and the guard commander spoke. He doesn't know who Chaya is and he didn't care at all.
"You are the new Artisan? Just because you are an Artisan, you cannot act as you like. Apologise to my nephew right now."
He didn't notice that Zeke's expression turned ugly. Sam didn't reply and just looked at marquis.
"You can ask you son what happened. After hearing his piece, I will tell you the remaining story."
Seeing the Sam ignored him the commander got angry, just as he was about to flare up, he felt the pressure from Marquis.
Then the marquis looked at his son. "Tell me what you did."
"I.. I." Zeke stuttered. He really doesn't want his father to know all his dirty deeds. He never expected that the person he ambushed is an Artisan, that too a high ranked one.
"I will tell you then." Sam then recounted everything that happened in the Falcon cliff city and said.
"I heard the Marquis is a righteous person, but from what I see, you are no different from a father of a useless son. He can do whatever he wanted and all you could do is cover it up using his authority. The rumours almost fooled me."
Sam purposefully said this to provoke the Marquis. He wants to put the marquis in a helpless situation where he can't take it out on Sam and remind him that he is supposed to be the person who looks after the people and not blindly side with his son.
So, the marquis will only have one outlet other than Zeke.
And when the marquis was reminded of how his son threatened the two cities from participating, he felt his anger reaching the limit.
