This book is inspired be the V.C. Andrews Gothic Horror/Romance Novels.

Andrews lay on the hospital bed thinking about the past. There were a turmoil of emotions running over him and he repented it… Everything he did in the past. Even though he never meant to do it, he has been a part of it.. He had killed his best friend.
He could never forget those horrible days when he was influenced by those bastards.. they had ejected the poison of greed and offered him lots of money that his young and demanding self could not reject. He has reluctantly accepted the offer, to cheat his friend.. But he was unaware of the darker plans that was hiding between their offers. He would have never been a part of it if he had known of it all.
And when he lost his friend, he suddenly shook.. he could not do anything other than hide. So he hid.. For years.. he ate and slept on the roadside, spent those days like a beggar.. Until Rose found him in the streets.. Even though the trio chain had broken up after Lawrence's marriage, they were thick friends once. Rose could not abandon Andrews at this state. She offered him a job. 
Andrews always had Rose in his heart, but his miserable days had made him transform.. He decided to stay with Rose… who was the only evidence that he once had a happy past… But he saw Rose was happily married now, into a rich family.. And she has changed a lot too.. She did not seem to get sad over hearing Lawrence's fate, but instead blamed him for choosing Juliet. Andrews never mentioned that he had cheated Lawrence, or he would even loose this only person who cared a bit for him.
 Andrews had always been a lazy lad at college and was not good at anything.. just wandered with Lawrence like a shadow under his popularity. After Lawrence dropped college, he too stopped studying.. He wanted to make money.. quick and without much effort.. His parents were poor and he had too many siblings. So he was not paid much attention either. 
Lawrence was good at everything and Andrews was like a family to him. Even when Juliet prevented Lawrence from writing, it was Andrews who boosted him and secretly allowed him to publish his chapters. It was Andrews's idea to disguise him, so that Juliet won't know. He asked Lawrence to give a pen name and it was when Lawrence chose L&J. 
Staying with Lawrence in the rose garden were the most cherished moments in his life. It was Lawrence who taught him gardening and told about the secrets of gardening that he inherited. Even though Andrews tried his best to recreate the garden for Rose later, he could never match with Lawrence. It was just a fake replica which lost the feel. It lost the essence of love…
 Only after staying at Rose's place for quite a long time did Andrews knew that Lawrence had a child.. He had thought that the baby was dead along with Julie. He stealthily visited Bella every now and then, but seeing how her Aunt treated her, Andrews wanted to give the poor kid a better chance to live. So he had decided to search for the long lost mission.. To find Lawrence's book.. But it was not as easy as he thought it would be...
Thinking about the past he could not sleep.. Even the heavy dose of sedatives did not seem to work on him..
He was frequently thinking of Bella.. She was an exact copy of her father. She too forgave so easily just like Lawrence did.. He wanted to make it up for her, wanted to be her godfather.. take care of her.. shower her with gifts and love. But he wished Bella to never know the truth. He did not want Bella to fall into those evil hands that have shattered his life.. He wanted to publish Lawrence's book and take care of Bella. But Lawrence was just too brilliant. Jane was pacing to and fro anxiously.. Did Peter receive that video? She has to find out somehow. She knew the Press Meet would be held today, so she quickly switched on the television. She was a little relieved on seeing the headlines. So nothing went bad as she expected..
' Are you responsible for the leakage of those five novels? What was your motive behind it? And did you do it alone or are there other people behind this?' Jane saw a young reporter yelling at Bella.
To Jane's surprise and excitement, she saw Bella nodding her head in agreement to everything that the reporter accused.. She was just accepting that the crime was done by her, without any denial..!!
What the hell was happening?? Wondered Jane, Was she really lucky or is she missing out something?
Jane needed to confirm. She quickly dialed Peter's number…
'The number you are calling is out of coverage area..' Now this was really irritating. Jane was sure Peter has not seen the video or else he would not have spared her.. If that is the case she has to go visit him immediately and prevent the worst from happening.

"brukkk... gedubraakkkk buukkk tolonnggggg copettt tolong copeetttt" Ilona yang membagikan selembaran dari coffe shop nya bekerja harus berhenti sejenak untuk merespon dengan gesit Ilona menitipkan selembarannya kepada seseorang yang lalu lalang "bentar gw nitip cuma bentaran oke" tanpa melihat wajah seseorang tersebut Ilona berlari dan melompat untuk menendang Tengku leher pencopet seketika pencopet pingsan 🤣 kerasss broo sepatunya "hosh hosh" nafas Ilona yang tidak beraturan dengan ngosngossan Ilona berkata "iniihh tasnya tantehh" dan disaat bersamaan ibu paruh baya tersebut memeluk Ilona dan berkata "terima kasih nak karena di tas ini sangat berharga isinya. siapa namamu? dan dimana kamu tinggal?" Ilona bingung mau menjawab pertanyaan yang mana dulu. "Tante maaf saya harus bekerja lagi karena tasnya dan Tante selamat jadi saya pamit dulu tante" karena Ilona berlari takut selembarannya di buang "mampus gw gimana kalo sampe di buang apa yang mau gw promoin setann pake acara nitip lagi gw" saat Ilona mencari seseorang tadi yang ntah wajahnya pun tidak dia kenali "arrrgggggg sial mau ngomong apa gw sama bos nanti". Ilona kembali ke kedai coffe shop dengan lemas namun di sambut gembira para karyawan teman sepekerjaannya "hebat Lo tong ada pelanggan nyerbu semua isi toko sampe abis ajibb bener Lo bocah" salah satu kawannya berkata seperti itu, namun Ilona bingung 'mereka gila ya itu pasti bukan ulah gw lah jelas- jelas selembarannya ilang gara-gara gw teledor' Ilona bergumam dalam hati. dan bersaam saat Ilona bengong dengan pikirannya yang ruet bos mereka menyapa Ilona dan mengajak Ilona berbincang empat mata. "Ilona mari kita ngobrol sebentar ada yang ingin saya sampaikan" dengan semangat Ilona bergegas "ada apa bos" kata Ilona dan di jawab bos mereka "sepertinya kamu harus membereskan semua peralatanmu di kedai ini, karena besok km pindah bekerja yang pasti boss km adalah kawan SMP saya dulu, dan dia melihat kehebatan kamu mengalahkan pencopet tadi" Ilona membantah "tapi boss gw lebih nyaman kerja disini jadi tolong jangan pecat gw boss" Ilona memohon kepada bossnya "ini pekerjaan yang bisa membawa kamu menjadi jauh lebih baik selain gaji mereka memberikan semua fasilitas seperti rumah kendaraan makanan jadi ikutin aja apa perkataan saya, karena ini demi kebaikan kamu" Ilona habis kata-kata "baik!! kalo memang menurut boss ini yang terbaik buat gw terima kasih untuk segala kebaikan boss selama ini" dengan menunduk hormat Ilona mengakhirinya "ceklek" suara pintu saat Ilona pergi. "kamu karyawan teladan saya tapi kawan yang bahkan tidak akrab dngan saya mengancam saya jadi maaf kan boss mu ini" boss Ilona yang bergumam saat Ilona telah beranjak pergi.

keluarga penuh kekerasan dalam menerapkan kedisiplinan dengan julukan kelurga militer Ilona vindi menjadi wanita penuh kekerasan dengan fisikli lelaki tampan... hidup di dalam lingkup keluarga menengah ke bawah Ilona adalah gadis yang mandiri dan kuat... namun baru pertama memiliki perasaan cinta dan apakah semuanya berjalan lancar??!!

Seqenenre duduk pada kursi kayu, menunduk dengan sengaja dan rambut putihnya yang panjang menjuntai melewati wajahnya yang masih terlihat pucat.

Munthy berada dibelakang ayahnya, dia baru saja selesai membuat ramuan obat. Untuk mengurangi rasa sakit pada punuk leher ayahnya. Memar merah masih terlihat jelas, karena sang algojo terlalu kuat menekan kasar pada leher ayahnya.

Ilona duduk tidak jauh dari mereka berdua, mengusap pergelangan tangannya. Karena belenggu emas sudah terlepas dari tangannya, rasanya sangat ringan dan Ilona juga bisa merasakan rasa pusing di kepalanya sudah semakin berkurang.

"Apa keputusan ini benar?" Tanya Seqenenre, ketika Munthy sudah menempelkan suatu cairan berwarna kuning dan bercahaya.

"Tidak ada pilihan lain." Jawab Munthy cepat, salah satu tangannya menekan punuk leher ayahnya. Cahaya putih muncul pada telapak tangannya, ketika bibir Munthy mulai merapalkan mantra. Dan tidak lama cairan kuning itu menghilang begitu saja, seperti menyerap

"Bagaimana....?" Seqenenre mengangkat wajahnya, dan menatap Ilona yang masih duduk dan memijati pergelangan tangannya. "Bagaimana kalau dia tahu, selama ini kita..."

"Ayah..." Potong Munthy, dan ikut  memperhatikan wajah Ilona. "Lebih baik saat ini kau beristirahat, biar aku sendiri yang menjelaskan kepadanya." Ucap Munthy dan mengarah pada Ilona.

Tidak lama setelah Munthy mengantar Seqenenre, untuk beristirahat pada kamarnya sendiri. Dan meninggalkan Ilona sendirian dalam ruang pengobatan, memang ada banyak hal yang harus ia tanyakan pada Munthy.

Hari itu mereka bertiga hampir saja kehilangan nyawa mereka, dan bisa terselamatkan sementara... Hanya karena perkataan Munthy mengenai sebuah ide gila.

Ilona memperhatikan ruang pengobatan, sepertinya ini adalah kedua kalinya dia berada dalam ruangan tersebut, dan baru benar-benar memperhatikan apa saja yang berada didalamnya. Pertama kali ia datang, Ilona ingat bahwa... Munthy sudah menyuruhnya agar berendam pada sebuah bak mandi yang cukup besar.

Bak kayu itu masih tetap berada pada posisinya, berdekatan pada sebuah permadani besar berwarna merah. Terpajang dengan rapi pada dinding, dan benang emas yang indah membentuk tulisan dan gambar-gambar.

Ilona memperhatikan dengan seksama, setidaknya ada tujuh gambar pada permadani tersebut.  Gambar yang tidak bisa ia pahami, seperti sedang membaca sebuah sejarah yang belum pernah ia pelajari. Dan tentu saja itu bukanlah hieroglif, yang mungkin bisa Ilona pahami.

"Apa yang sedang kau lihat?"

Munthy tiba-tiba saja muncul disamping Ilona, membuatnya harus terperanjat dan mengelus dadanya. "Kau mengagetkanku! Kenapa.. kau tiba-tiba... Ada di..."

"Aku bisa berpindah tempat dengan cepat, harusnya kau sudah mulai terbiasa." Jelas Munthy, dan ikut melihat permadani yang menjadi pusat perhatian Ilona.

"Kalau kau memang bisa melakukan hal seperti tadi? Kenapa kau tidak lari, saat para orang-orang bertubuh seram itu mengikat kita dengan belenggu emas yang sangat aneh itu!" Gerutu Ilona, dan berjalan menjauh dari Munthy.

"Karena percuma, saat ini aku dan ayah juga kau..." Tunjuk Munthy pada Ilona. "Kita terikat pada Raja Ramesses Ussermaatre, dan akan sangat mudah baginya untuk membunuh kita semua." Lanjut Munthy, dan menghampiri Ilona.

Ilona menjentikkan jarinya, dan seketika permadani yang menempel pada dinding berkilauan dengan warna emas yang berpendar, Ilona kembali memperhatikan dengan lebih kagum.

"Apa lagi ini? Apa kau berusaha untuk menyombongkan diri dengan semua kekuatan yang kau punya?" Sindir Ilona, tapi tetap saja ia melihat kearah permadani. Dan gambar pada permadani tersebut bergerak pelan.

"Apa kau masih ingat mengenai kisah yang pernah kuceritakan?" Tanya Munthy. "Apa itu mengenai kisah Dewa Osiris dan Dewi Isis?" Ilona mencoba mengingat kembali cerita Munthy.

" Ya... Baguslah kalau kau masih mengingatnya, ternyata kau tidak menjadi terlalu bodoh." Sindir Munthy, dan menarik kursi lalu duduk dengan menyilang kan kedua kakinya.

"Duduklah dengan santai, karena aku akan menjelaskan kepadamu... Bagaimana semua awal mula ini bisa terjadi." Lanjut Munthy dengan wajah serius, Ilona pun harus menurut karena memang dia tidak memiliki pilihan lain.

"Kau lihat permadani tersebut, dan lihat bahwa dulu sekali kami terdiri dari tujuh kaum penyihir." Ilona mulai bercerita. Dan tiba-tiba salah satu gambar dari permadani tersebut, seakan-akan keluar dan muncul dengan cahaya emas yang berpendar.

"Kaum Seer, mereka memiliki kekuatan untuk melihat masa depan." Sosok pria bertudung dengan memegangi sebuah kabut yang berbentuk bola, dan samar-samar terlihat gambar tengkorak pada bola kabut tersebut.

"Kaum Shaman, mereka yang membuat ramalan dan ramuan penyembuhan." Ucap Munthy, dan kali ini gambar lain kembali muncul, sosok dengan kepalanya yang memiliki tanduk yang sangat panjang. Tanduk yang berbentuk aneh, bagaikan ranting pohon yang memiliki banyak cabang. Ditambah sebuah tongkat yang dipegang, berada disampingnya.

"The Fool (Si bodoh). Mereka yang tidak memiliki kekuatan apapun... Hmm.. Mereka sangat rumit dan sedikit sensitif, berhati-hatilah dalam berbicara jika kau bertemu dengan salah satu dari mereka." Munthy menunjuk pada salah satu gambar yang melayang di udara,  hanya sebuah sosok yang mengenakan tudung yang besar dengan tatapan yang entah kemana.

"Apa perlu aku mengetahui hal ini?" Potong Ilona, dan Munthy mengkerutkan keningnya dengan cepat. "Aku lebih suka dengan Nefertari, dibanding dengan kau yang selalu saja mengoceh... Diam dan dengarkan aku berbicara!" Munthy harus sedikit tegas dengan Ilona, yang pada akhirnya kembali menurut.

"Kemudian Alchemist, mereka yang ahli dalam membuat ramuan. Dan Echanter yang bisa memanipulasi pikiranmu.. Kau tahu Siren yang memanipulasi pikiranmu Ilona.. Mereka adalah bagian dari kaum Echanter." Tunjuk Munthy pada dua gambar lainnya, yang kembali muncul dan melayang diudara.

"Necromancer... " Tiba-tiba raut wajah Munthy berubah, dia menunjuk pada gambaran pada sosok yang memegangi tongkat yang memiliki cahaya hijau pada ujungnya. Dan dari cahaya tersebut, keluar bayangan tipis akan sosok manusia.

"Ada apa Munthy?" Tanya Ilona cemas.

"Kau tidak mengingatnya, Nefertari? Ah.... Aku lupa kalau kau belum mengingat semua kejadian." Munthy seperti sedang menahan air matanya untuk tidak keluar, menyekanya dengan cepat.

"Kenapa kau menangis? Ada apa?" Tanya Ilona penasaran.

"Karena ibu mengorbankan nyawanya dengan menyerahkan diri pada mereka, kaum Necromancer... Itu semua agar bisa menyelamatkan jiwamu." Jelas Munthy.

"Ini kisah yang sangat panjang, pada dasarnya kita memiliki ibu yang berbeda. Hanya saja... Sudahlah aku akan menjelaskannya nanti." Munthy kembali menjetikkan jarinya.

"Dan ini adalah kaum Sage, ayah kita berasal dari kaum Sage. Ayah bisa menjinakkan hewan, dan memiliki kemampuan bertarung yang cukup kuat." Munthy menepuk kedua tangannya, dan semua sinar keemasan menghilang, beserta dengan gambaran yang menghilang diudara.

"Seer, Shaman, Sage, Si bodoh, Alchemist, Necromancer, Echanter... Dulu sekali kami hidup berdampingan. Bersama-sama kami menjaga keseimbangan alam, dan membantu manusia untuk bisa bertahan hidup." Munthy bangkit dari duduknya.

"Seperti yang pernah ku ceritakan kepadamu, bahwa kami memberikan kekuatan kepada beberapa Dewa dan Dewi Mesir.  Dan ketika Dewa Set membunuh saudaranya Osiris, kami pun terpecah belah."

"Set membuat pemikiran bahwa seharusnya dia bisa menyingkirkan para manusia yang lemah, dan banyak dari kami yang setuju, dan juga tidak setuju."

"Sejak saat itu peperangan terus saja terjadinya, satu-satunya alasan kenapa kami bersekutu dengan Ussermaatre." Suara Munthy tiba-tiba saja memelan, dan mendekati telinga Ilona. "Itu semua karena kau Nefertari."

"A...apa? Maksudmu?" Ilona menjauhkan wajahnya sendiri, yang terlalu berdekatan dengan wajah Munthy.

"Aku kehilangan ibuku pada saat aku masih kecil, bahkan aku tidak bisa mengingat jelas bagaimana wajahnya, yang kutahu ayah memiliki seorang pendamping hidup yang baru. Yaitu ibumu.. yang berasal dari kaum lautan." Lanjut Munthy.

Ilona melebarkan kedua matanya, ia nyaris tidak percaya dengan apa yang dijelaskan oleh Munthy. Rasanya semua hal sangat menjadi aneh, tapi terlalu nyata. Semua hal yang dijelaskan oleh Munthy, layaknya sebuah dongeng cerita yang tidak mungkin terjadi pada kehidupannya yang dulu.

Hi guys! This is going to be the edited version of I Hate You. Unfortunately, the original was taken down due to some sensitive material over the issue of consent. After looking through my content, I realized that it was right for them to take it down, as it was sensitive material to some of my followers. 

I love all of my followers and I didn't mean to offend anyone. I'm really happy that this subject was brought to my concerns, and I'll do my best to do better.

I've also decided to add titles to my chapters because it was really hard finding out what happened in each chapter. Otherwise, nothing dramatic will change in this story. There is still sexual content in this book, so if that's not for you, I advise you to not read this book. I do warn if there is sexual content in a chapter though because I don't want to shock anybody. 

Other than that, this book contains a lot of swearing (as it's two girls that hate each other and bicker a lot) and there is mention of some recreational drugs. There is a lot of alcohol in this book, as I really know my alcohol and it's typical for people of this age to be doing things like that. Every character in this book (except some family members/classmates) are of age at 18+ years old. 

In correlation to that, this book is set in the same setting as my other book (Tainted Innocence) at Kingsley High School in California. Some characters from the other book are mentioned here, but it does not ruin the plot line of Tainted Innocence and vice versa. I did this to emphasize how small their community is (especially the LGBT+ community in their high school.) 

Anyway, I think from this experience I'll learn to be careful. I love this book, and I love June and Adrienne's blossoming relationship.

Adrienne Andrews stole my crush.

Again.

I glared at the girl with long dark hair who was now sucking a blonde guy's face off in the middle of the dance floor. I downed another shot of vodka as I mumbled a "fuck you" to her silently.

"June, you shouldn't be so mad. Connor's a dick anyway." My friend Blaire commented as she sipped her beer. I looked over at her freckled face, her blue eyes shining with amusement as some of her blonde hair cascaded down her shoulders. I frowned, wondering why she was so amused in the first place.

"He was nice to me," I mumbled, "Plus, what's so funny anyways? Adrienne always steals the guys I like."

Blaire rolled her eyes then took away the vodka bottle I was about to reach for. "Relax, it's a party, and plus, everyone knows that Adrienne is a lesbian. She's just making out with him to piss you off, and it's pretty easy for her considering that you're blatantly glaring at them right now."

I looked over from Blaire to Adrienne, suddenly becoming furious as I realized what she was saying was true. To test the theory, I grabbed Blaire by the hand so we'd be out of sight. We waited there for a few minutes, then I turned the corner to see if they were still making out, and true enough, Connor was dancing with some other girl! That bitch! That asshole!

I glared over my shoulder as I heard Blaire snicker behind me because she knew she was right all along.

Damn that Adrienne Andrews.

I've always hated her, she was the bane of my existence. She was always out to get me, from the time she pushed me down the stairs in the second grade, or the time she ratted me out for cheating on a test in the fourth, or especially the time she stole my spot as captain of the volleyball team!

And lately? She was always getting guys to turn her way, or not like me, or would spread rumors that would hinder me from getting any cute guys. One time she got a lesbian like her to kiss me in the middle of the cafeteria! Ew! As if I'd ever like girls!

I continued to watch as Connor grinded on his new victim, I winced, realizing that I wanted to date that drunken asshole. I grabbed the vodka bottle back from Blaire then started to take a few swigs from it, almost gagging from the taste of vodka. I groaned, realizing that I was going to regret that later.

Blaire rolled her eyes, "You really shouldn't have done that." She trailed her eyes over to a guy in the corner awkwardly holding a red solo cup. "And, he is my cue to leave! Goodluck with hating on Adrienne more..." Before I could protest she was already skipping over to the cute guy in the corner.

So, now I was on my own.

And drunk.

I was such a lightweight.

I took a few more swigs from the vodka bottle until I decided to move to another room to dance in. It was dark in this room, minus the various colored strobe lights, and it felt like a sauna due to all the dancing people grinding on each other. I downed the remaining remnants of the bottle then set it down on some random table by me, before jumping into the crowd. I moved my bottle in sync with the music, moving my arms above my head and not giving a shit about anything at the moment.

Because fuck Connor and Adrienne.

After some time, the colored lights were starting to look blurry, and I could absolutely feel the alcohol start to violate my body. I felt really hot and as I danced, it felt like the loud music was wrapping itself around me in tune to the rhythm.

By now, I could feel someone's warm hands slither their way around my body, moving theirs in sync with mine. I welcomed their touch, as it felt like a million lightning bolts caressing my bare skin. I was wearing a thin white long-sleeved crop top along with some tight black leggings that hugged the curves along my body. From my dancing, my top rose up a little bit, causing the stranger to run his gentle hands up to my ribcage, whilst grinding against my butt.

I let out a soft moan, before taking the person's hands and guiding them down to my hips. The person didn't hesitate to move their hands to my butt, squeezing it gently, before sliding them back to my hips. My breath started to deepen as I felt the stranger's hands pry at the hem of my leggings, teasing my skin by dipping his hands inside of them, causing me to feel small electric shocks on my thighs. The inner heat in-between my legs heightened, as I wanted the stranger to touch me anywhere possible. I didn't care that I didn't even know the stranger's name-or his face for that matter, I just needed a good fuck.

I arched my back so I could reach my hand behind my back around the stranger's neck, feeling his thick long hair tickle my hands, as the stranger slid his right hand down to in-between my heated core. I looked at Adrienne, realizing the amusement twinkling in her dark grey eyes. Her long, black hair was pulled in a tight ponytail, showing off her high-cheekbones and slim face. She was smirking, which showed her god damned dimples of hers. I took in her outfit, seeing that she was in a maroon flannel that was opened to show off her black bandeau and a similar pair of black leggings as I was wearing. She looked hot-no, wait, she looked fucking ugly. What the hell June? Why were you checking out the enemy? Especially when the enemy just had her fucking fingers down your pants! That's basically molestation!

"What? Did I shock you?" Adrienne said while she still smirked. That bitch.

"What the fuck did you think you were doing?" I growled out, ignoring the people that were bumping into me on the dance floor.

"I was going to finger you." She rolled her eyes.

"What-the absolute-fuck?" I was about ready to hit Adrienne Andrews.

"What? Don't deny that you wouldn't have loved that." She winked before taking her fingers to her lips, then licking them slowly while staring into my widened blue eyes. "Because you were soaking wet, and you were basically asking for it." She then licked her lips while my whole face heated up.

"..I! I did, was not!" I ground my teeth in anger as I drunkenly slapped Adrienne. It wasn't that hard, as my coordination was most likely off, but I watched as her eyes got a little darker.

However, it was replaced by her infamous smirk as she swatted my hand away. "I'll keep it in mind that you like it rough." She bit her lower lip before she turned away from me, stalking off into the crowd before I could angrily yell at her again.

I let out a frustrated growl as I marched off into another direction, smiling as I found an untouched bottle of Jack Daniels. I quickly opened the bottle before taking a few swigs from it.

Now, here I was, at some random party, while my best friend was probably getting laid, while I was here drunk and sexually frustrated out of my mind. I was going to drink enough so I couldn't remember this stupid night, I was completely done with it.

All because of that stupid Adrienne Andrews.

"Do you want to eat something?" officer Andrews asked him who was upright and stiff, standing at the door, like a dog on guard. 
"No, thank you officer," he replied in an earnest manner. 
Andrews could feel his admiration through his rhythmic gait, tall and undisturbed. The stark contrast brought after his temporary make-shift supervisor passed his judgement. Since he met her, she looked suspicious to his eye. He was sure she hid something, something painful for her to reveal. Her tensed eyes and anxious face the first time Mrs Vanesse's made his doubts solidify. He wasn't very well acquainted with the stories of the town, but anyone who stood in his place could feel the threatened aura from Andrews.
"Okay, make yourself at home," she told him, placing her bag on a clutter sofa, before hurrying into her room.  
Chaze, who was still standing out, looked at the various reports on the sofa. Most of them looked like a bunch of unrelated articles. Yet, one stood out. It was an article he could recognize, an article about him. He decided not to press further. He already took his time and effort crossing the line to learn to trust her and have faith in her words. Crossing the line could only lead to disharmony among the pair. Trust was mandatory. Jumping into the deep end of the river for this case not only needed influence but also experience. He knew he lacked in both. And knowing different officers from various stations present through the town, it would have been difficult to find a supervisor whom he could trust. Someone who drove his passion to new heights.
Her words always seemed forward. Yet, with her smooth demeanor and witty jokes, she was considered the best mediator among the crowds. People who speak straight are never the ones to walk straight, he believed. Sharp words with a careless script, she convinced him to work on it and find the drive to catch them. It could have been a show, a fleeting entertainment for the people. What he hadn't realised yet was the fire he ignited in her heart to keep moving forward. To leave the baggage on the trail of time.
"Why are you still standing there?" said Andrews, who just walked out to see him, ever so stiff. "You could be mistaken for a tree if you keep at it for a tad bit longer. However, trees aren't for indoors, so move," she joked. "Let's eat something before going. She won't keep us long, but better to be prepared to go somewhere else from there," 
Chaze couldn't understand what she had been trying to convey when she spoke those words. Her every move led to new questions pop in his brain, making it difficult for the detective to understand her intentions.
 
"Don't zone out," she yelled at the lost boy. "What are you thinking of?" she added, wondering if he was preoccupied with the case. "Now, tell me what you prefer to eat?"
"Ah," he said with hesitation. Carried away at her pace now, he quickly replied, "A coffee would be nice. Anything works for me."
"Oh, I think I have some bagels I got for yesterday. Would that be good for you?" she told him in a monotone.
"Yes!" he said back, busy debating his hesitation. 
"Tell me something more general," she asked.
"General?" he asked, confused thinking he missed a part of the conversation. "What are you trying to ask, officer?" 
She was walking towards the pantry with a light step. On the other hand, he stood quietly, without any expression of joy or sorrow, contemplating since morning. "What do you think of this place? You sat all night reading up on the cases of this town. It's not the comprehensive list, but it's still the major chunk." 
Andrews saw a few other files on the floor in the morning which clearly weren't related to the current case. All major cases. She didn't wish to ask for the reason he spent so much time on other cases when the murder was the primary assignment in hand. She had her concerns. If he had chosen to read the other cases after finding connections to the present one, they would not only have more work but could get into greater trouble.
Finding trouble was their occupation. Only when one finds trouble can they strive for peace. He knew that. He didn't have any specific intentions when going through them. Curious about the town no one talked about at his previous office, he set out to find as much as he could in the short time he had been there. But rarely was the queen talked about in any conversation. The other files cases were seemingly simple, yet the dynamics of the various groups stood out strongly.
"This is a pleasant place," he said truthfully. "The groups might have clashes among themselves but the cases rarely involve civilians. Everyone's happy and content, wishing to stay here forever. Is Mrs Thompson as fearful as she is talked about?" he asked back. 
"If you met her when she was alive, you would have thought she was the most pleasant person you met in your life. A charismatic presence with a lot of confidence, she was a socialite at heart. And started like one too."
"Started like one?" he asked, waiting for a detailed explanation.
She took out a bagel from the paper bag and handed the bag to him. "Let's go. It's early, but we will have a better chance of holding onto her if we barge in early," she told him before explaining the queen's story. The story of fate hitting an unknown charmer to the heights of power. Part of a merchant's troop, she had various chances to interact with the mafia. Slowly, everyone started taking a liking to her and her ideas. Conquering from the bottom up wasn't a new strategy but one rarely followed. Mr Thompson whom the empire was handed to, hadn't known of this. Charmed by the inconsequential woman, he married her, welcoming the devil right through the front door. 
"Sounds about right," he said, as if he had heard the story already. Regaining his composure, he told her, "Let's finish this case quickly. I want to know more about other things."

4 women face each other and self as they find themselves suspects in a murder investigation. Motives sinister, fear of loss gnawing, each of them is left to their own as they bend backwards for anything that could prove their innocence. They must answer the past which stares right into their faces as they barely survive the ongoing trial holding to an uncertain future. Maybe living in a small town isn’t that safe anymore?

It was then that Miles saw Sarah Andrews for the first time.

Marahil, marami ang magsasabi na nagsisimula ang lahat sa unang pagkikita. 'Yung tipong sa unang pagkikita pa lang may sparks na. Parang may fireworks sa background o kaya naman, tulad sa pelikula, 'yung nag-i-slow motion ang paligid habang nagkakatitigan at nagngingitian ang mga bida.

Ang cliché. 

Bakit nga kaya gano'n, hindi tayo nagsasawa sa kung ano ang cliché? Parehong mga pelikula ang pinapanood natin. Parehong uri ng mga libro ang binabasa natin. Parehong mga bagay ang nagpapangiti sa atin, nagpapa-kilig . . . at nagpapa-ibig.

Pero paano kung sa unang pagkikita walang sparks, walang fireworks, walang slow motion, walang nakakatunaw na pagtitinginan o ngitian? Paano kung ang unang pagkikita e tulad ng kay Miles Ryan at Sarah Andrews? Baka nga 'yung pinakahihintay na chance encounter e 'di pa mapansin dahil parang ordinaryo lang ang lahat. Hindi pampelikula o pang-libro ang eksena.

Gan'yan naman ang totoong buhay 'di ba?

Hindi ko maiwasang ma-curious sa kung ano nga ba ang iniisip ng mga babae kapag nakakakita sila ng lalaking nagbabasa ng romance fiction, chicklit novel, o iba pang libro na karaniwang binabasa ng mga babae.

Iniisip kaya nilang bading ako? 

Hindi naman siguro. Wala naman talaga kasing pinipilang gender ang romance fictions at kung ano pang genre ng isang akda 'di ba?

Kinikilig kaya sila?

Marami kasing nahirapan sa malupit na exam ni Ms. Rodrin sa Literature. 'Di kapani-paniwala. Pero totoo . . . isa na ko sa mga bumagsak. Para makabawi, gumawa na lang daw kami ng book review. 

Pinapili ni Ms. Rodrin ang klase kung sinong author ang gusto namin. Ang mga kaklase ko gusto pa atang utakan si Ms. Rodrin, si Nicholas Sparks daw ang paborito nila; rinig na rinig naman ang bulungan nila na kaya si Sparks ang gusto nila e kasi may movies na yung mga book niya. Panonoorin na lang daw nila. Natawa na lang ako nang pumayag si Ms. Rodrin kasi ang pinili niyang book e yung wala pang movie version.

Ang totoo, pwede ko namang i-google na lang ang review ng book na 'to pero no'ng napadaan ako kanina sa bookstore, ewan ko ba, bigla lang ako na-curious basahin.

Tiningnan ko ulit ang dalawang babae sa kabilang table. Ngumiti ako sa kanila (Landi!) Walang sparks, pero parang kinilig sila. Narinig ko pa nga sabi ng isa na ang gwapo ko. Nyay, walang gano'n!

Hinigop ko na ang natitirang kape sa tasa, tumayo at lumabas na ng coffee shop. 

Wooo, ang  lamig ng gabi.

Pagdating ko sa tawiran, naabutan ako ng stop ng traffic lights. Ninety seconds. Ang tagal. 

Nakatitig lang ako sa traffic lights at sinasabayan ang bilang ng electronic counter nang mula sa likod ay may yumakap sa akin. 

"Mahal kita. Nakakainis ka," bulong niya. 

Babae siya, tingin ko base sa boses niya. Tingin ko lasing 'to. Boses lasing e.

Nang tatanggalin ko na sana ang pagkakayakap niya, siya na mismo ang unti-unting humiwalay sa'kin.

"Nakakainis ka," muli niyang sabi.

Humarap ako sa kanya na kaagad kong pinagsisihan. Bigla niya kong sinuntok. 'Di naman masyadong malakas kasi lasing nga siya, pero masakit pa rin.

Napahawak ako sa pisngi ko. First time kong masapak ng lasing.

Nagkatitigan kami. Siyempre kumunot ang noo ko sa kanya para ipakitang inis ako sa ginawa niya, kaya lang bigla niyang inalis ang kaniyang tingin. 

Nagsimula siyang maglakad. Nakatawid siya sa unang lane ng kalsada kahit pagewang-gewang, wala namang gaanong sasakyan sa lane na 'yun. Huminto siya sa gitna. Mas malapad na ang kalsada sa kabilang lane. Mas marami na rin ang mga sasakyang mabilis na dumaraan. Nagsimula siyang humakbang . . . 

Ano! Loko 'to, tatawid e naka-go pa rin yung mga sasakyan. 

Tatlong segundo rin akong napanganga habang nakatanaw sa kaniya—tatlong segundong nabawas sa counter ng traffic signal lights. 

Thirty seconds pa ang natitira bago magpalit sa green. Sa bilis ng mga sasakyan, malabong hindi siya mapuruhan kong masagasaan man siya. 

Ramdam ko ang pagbilis ng tibok ng puso ko. Tumakbo ako tungo sa kaniya at dali-dali kong hinatak ang braso niya palapit sa akin.

Tumama ang mukha niya sa dibdib ko. For the second time, nayakap niya ulit ako. Nakaka-ilan na sa'kin 'to ha.

Bahagya niya akong naitulak nang bumusina ang isang kotseng dumaan sa gilid namin. Na-weirdo-han siguro sa'min ang driver. Baka first time niyang makakita nang nagyayakapan sa gitna ng kalsada. Tumawa ako nang mahina. Parang pampelikula ang eksena namin ngayon.

"Bitawan mo ko, manyak ka!" sigaw niya.

Ibinaba ko ang tingin sa braso niya at kaagad na tinanggal ang pagkakahawak ko.

"Miss, hindi ako manyak. Ayan, stop na ang mga sasakyan. Makakatawid ka na."

"Ayaw ko." 

E may saltik naman pala talaga 'to e.

"O, sige ma-una na ko sa'yong tumawid." Tinalikuran ko siya at nagsimula nang maglakad. Sumunod naman siya sa likuran ko.

Pagkatawid, kumaliwa ako habang sa kabilang direksiyon naman siya pumunta. Lumnigon ako para  tanawin siya. Gano'n pa rin siya maglakad—parang tutumba. Muntik pa ngang siyang tumumba, nagawa niya lang na makahawak sa isang poste. 

Haist. Parang 'di ko siya kayang iwan na lang. 

Naglakad ako palapit sa kaniya. Hinawakan ko ang kamay niya at hinila ko siya pabalik sa coffee shop.

Pina-upo ko siya sa parehong pwesto ko kanina. Um-order ako ng cafe americano para sa kanya.

"O kape nang mahimasmasan ka naman kahit na konti."

Tinanggap niya naman ito. Umupo na rin ako. Magkaharap kami. Napangiti ako habang pinagmamasdan siya na dahan-dahang hinihigop ang kape. 

Walang nagsasalita sa amin. Tahimik. Naisipan kong kuhain sa bag ko ang binabasa kong libro kanina.

Napatingin ako sa orasan sa may dingding—8:47. Kailangan ko na talagang umuwi dahil may exam pa ko bukas.

"Wala bang pwedeng sumundo sa'yo rito? Kailangan ko na kasing umuwi e," tanong ko, tumayo ako.

Tumingala siya sa'kin. "Sige, okay lang. Ite-text ko na lang 'yung kaibigan ko."

Tingin ko medyo okay na siya. Ume-epekto na rin ang kape, nahimas-masan na siya kahit papaano.

"Sige, una na ko," pagpapaalam ko, pagkatapos, naglakad na ko palabas ng pinto.

Sa labas nakita ko siya mula sa glass panels ng coffee shop na kumakaway. Nakatingin siya sa'kin. Nabasa ko ang binibigkas ng bibig niya—Thank you—sabay ngiti.

Kumaway rin ako pabalik at tinanguan siya.

Dumiretso na ko sa paglakad at muling tumawid ng kalsada. Napadaan ako sa isang convenience store kung saan naaninagan ko ang sarili mula sa salaming pader . . . kanina pa pala ako nakangiti.

"Hey, you idiot, here your car key and your car, Miss Erika asked me to bring it to you, and see if it doesn't get lost again, I don't want the police knocking on the door because you took the way wrong and ended up in another state with the sheriff's daughter "Ilona speaks and hands the key in my hand and kisses my face and then looks up and smiles

"yes thanks" I thank you and take the key and look up and see a movement to close the curtain "now if you will excuse me I have to get Miss Erika in the desert" Ilona speaks tiredly and starts walking towards Ferrari and Luna

"Desert?" I ask surprised what is Erika doing in the desert? "Yes desert she took the car and left in the morning to buy meat and did not come back, and she called me and said that her car stopped in the middle of the desert, seriously, what is the problem for both of you? "Ilona sighed tiredly and relaxed her shoulders and got into the Ferrari and Luna accelerated as if not heard tomorrow

After Ilona left I heard the sound of someone running down the stairs and reaching the door and when the door opened, a Caroline appeared and hugged me "you came" she screamed and buried her face in my chest the girl was bubbling with joy of course I came, I promised you, didn't I? "I said, running a hand over her face and pulling a lock of hair out of her eyes

"hmm you promised hehe" Caroline laughed and grabbed my arm, and we got in the car, and we arrived at the party half an hour after leaving her house with her driving, well I may have gotten lost a few times, and she decided to drive in my place

and when we arrived at the party we talked a lot and laughed and drank, we met my stalker (Stefan) and my granddaughter number 3 (Elena) after a while Elena followed her brother to the forest and the two arrived screaming for help with the brother of Elena with the girl I believe to be Vicky, that I made friends before leaving town, she was full of blood, but she was fine and the party was over when the police and the ambulance arrived and I took Caroline home (she drove my car to her house) and then when she was going to go to her house "Caroline" I called "what?" she asks worried to see it in her eyes

I walk up to her and take out a necklace and put it made with reinforced verven on her neck "a gift to remember me, until the next meeting" I say and kiss her forehead and left

Rosé's mind were way too preoccupy of her dreams that she can't focus on finishing even one thing on her list for the morning. She tried drinking earl grey tea, lighted some scented candles, play her favourite Carpenters and Frank Sinatra music. But still, she woke up late because of those dreams. 

Last night, she dreamed being a cry baby. It was supposed to be a happy childhood memory of her playing with her childhood neighbors but it turns out to be a dream with her past. 

She was playing human train with her childhood friends towards their favourite playground, under the shade of a big acacia tree. They were just laughing and sliding in the slippery slates located at the place, and then she closed her eyes. 

As she open her eyes, she found herself in another familiar place. Big room in sky blue wall, wide windows that extend from one side to another in cased grill works. An information board at the rear portion with all the learning areas, and the black boards occupy the whole front area. It was her favourite high school classroom.

She saw familiar faces, all were showing teasing smile. Her classmates from secondary level whom she had been with her for the whole junior year. The armchairs were in total messed in a form of a garrison. And then everyone was throwing items from one another. Blackboard erasers, books, crumpled papers, bags, even shoes were flying in the air.

"Fire in the hole," shouted one of Rosé's classmate as he was throwing paper. 

She looked at them and tried to stop them, but they weren't listening. They were just shouting in a war game.
She moved out at one corner of the room and sat there exhaustedly.

"Where's my shoe?, " says Rosé as she started to cry while moving one chair to another like a crying baby looking for the missing candy. "I can't find my shoe!"

A man came closer to her and carries her to his back from one corner to the outside of the room. Rosé continued sobbing and looking for her shoe, her black school shoe. 

The man goes back to the room and picked her shoes from the messed created by her classmates from the war games. 

And when he get back, the man kneeled at Rosé and fits the shoe to its foot. And in an instance, she stopped crying. And thanked the man. He kissed her forehead and the familiar comfortable feeling crept in Rosé's heart.

They decided to take a walked, the man held her hand and pull her up. Rosé was having fun teasing the man as they were walking along the sloping road in another familiar place. It was the market place she used to go during her college years. 

As they were walking along the side she saw a pair of shoe that excites her. And she looked at it vividly, and when she blinked she found herself looking at the shoe in her feet.

"Weird!" Rosé said while still remembering her dream. That dream will never happen to her, especially she's done with her study. She walked to her kitchen, drink a full glass of water and decided to take a shower. 

Instead of going to her shop; like she usually do during free time, Rosé decided to go directly to the mall. 

She headed to the stationary section of the department store and started browsing the motivation book section, towards novel hit books, and some magazine. 

After finding some interesting books, she lined up the counter and paid for it. 

She went to the buildings 3rd floor were the shoe section is located. She turned right as she arrived at the 3rd level leading directly to the women's shoe.

"There you are again!" Lhei retorted from the other line of the phone. She was busy looking at every pair display when her phone rings. She already texted Lhei about her whereabout so that she won't wonder why she hasn't arrived at her coffee shop.

"Don't get me wrong! You know, I don't spend a lot of money for a pair of shoes. It just that, I love the beauty of every shoes. Like every detail of it are so precise on every woman. And that's why I like spending a lot of time at this specific place," Rosé defended. 

"I get it," Lhei says relingquishly." I think you are a shoe maker's daughter from another period," she concluded. "Just be careful, see you later at the shop. I just need to finished doing some of my lesson plans so that I can finally have a relaxing cup of coffee, " Lhei added and ended the call.

Rosé slid her phone at her bag and started looking again at every shoe that's been display and studied its beauty individually. After checking a few pair of shoes, she finally found a pair worth fitting for. 

It was a white ballerina shoe-like with beads on the hem at the front section of the shoe. There were small crystals along the covered portion of the shoe that sparkles.

She took it from the display and walk towards the shoe fitting area. The seating area follows the form of the column of the mall in circle, across it is a rectangular mirror around a feet height from the floor. 

The seat was made of ratan wood, forming a comfortable elengated yarn ball and was furnished intricately with some barnished. She sat at her most comfortable position and try fitting the shoe. It gorgeously fit her foot.

Rosé cooed to herself. "It perfectly suits you," she told herself. "But right now, I think someone will need you more than I do, " she added while looking at the shoe.

She took off the shoe and looked at it astonishingly. Looking at her feet, she looks at the crystal and something flashed in her dreams flashed in an instant given making her shiver. She shoved it off, but the feeling still lingers. 

She hurriedly put back the shoe. Rosé was about to turn when she bumped into someone. The man was a foot taller than her, and it was grabbing the shoe she fits earlier. Locking her to the mans' arm and the corner of another shoe display.

"Excuse me," Rose said as she was making her way out.

"I'm sorry," the man said as he made a way out for Rosé.

Rosé just made a faint smile while clutching her bag back to her lower arm forming a right angle. 

"That shoe is wonderful," Rosé said while pointing the shoe in his hands. "That can be a perfect gift to a woman," she added before she hurriedly made her way out as she remember her recent dreams. 

"One thing to settle my mind is to have a dream diary," she said. 

She went back in the notebook section and decided to choose a hardbound notebook. 

She landed into a color rose gold A5 size notebook. She also chooses some variety of pencil and pens. She added some clips, sticky notes, staple wires, etc. After buying all she needs for organizing, and some magazines for her shop; Rosé look at her watch. 

Shoot, Rosé thought. She needed to be back to her office as she remember her new project.

She stops for a moment as the raindrops started to fall.

How could this day gets any better, she thought. She clasps her bag up to her head and take a deep breath to run to the otherside of the road were the taxi lane is. 

As she take a step, a screeching from a car's tire stop her world for a moment. Rosé knows its her fault, she's just lucky that the car's bumper just touch her skin. 

Rosé bow in front of the car and continue running to the shed as the rain is getting heavier. 

Still in daze, she waved for the taxi and headed to her coffee shop. 

She was looking outside the taxi's window, when her thoughts drive him back to her dreams. 

"This strange dreams, what should I do with you?" Rosé thought deeply. 

The familiar facade of a clear full glass window in an black aluminum frame with trellis canopy design bring back Rosé from her daydreaming. 

She paid for the cab and got inside her shop. Rosé talked to her staff and some of her few known costumer.

Everything was set, Rosé take her laptop with her and settle into the scenery of the landscape yard under a cozy throw. The yard has its own gazebo with some vines, a bench under the lamppost, and lights were hang around the small trees and bushes. 

This is their favorite space to read, reflect or simply be still. She sitted under an interior trellis at the corner, with a small table good for a laptop, notebook, coffee, and a piece of cake.

After thinking on what to discover, she started browsing the internet for dream interpretations. She started with searching for the significance of the dream. 

What does having an unfamiliar man in the dream means? How does the dream works? How to make dream diary effectively? 

Her list of searches for how's got longer and longer, until her phone get notification from social media that removes her attention from the screen of the laptop. 

She take a quick glance at her phone, but when she's about to put it back -an idea struck her.

She opened her media account at her laptop and input Gian V in the search section; then click the magnifying glass button. Only few profile results shows,and started viewing it one by one. In this modern world, you can look for Gian. There are plenty of app to use for it, you can even slide left or right.

She click the view profile button of the first one in the search results named Gian Aster Marcouatu. A local astrologer who knows everything about celestial bodies and their influence on people's fates. He can talk about stars for an hours or so. Known for his Book, "Stars and You." 

"Huh!" says Rosé. "Impressive. I should try for a consultation. Most comment says that his horoscope are accurate," she added as jotting down information on where to see him. "Stars and You," she thought. "It seems familiar." And headed to her book shelves to look for one. 

Rosé also loves horoscope and stars. When she found nothing, she headed back to her table. 

"Let's try to look for another one," says Rosé as she knuckles her hands. 
She click the back tab of the browser and look for another interesting result. 

She click for Gian Archibald Finch, a sociable man that works at the bank. A good natured and reliable person. He usually brings interesting stories and joyful news.

"A talkative one?," says Rosé. "Hmm, and he works in the bank were I usually do my transaction. Have I meet him already?" Rosé thinks while Placing the head of her pen at the tip of her lips. "Well see," she says and jotted down information. 

Gian Andrew Rivers, a wealthy heir of the Rivers family, considered as one of the most eligible bachelor. Incredibly self confident and seems to be eager to surround himself with luxury. 
"This one is I don't know ," says Rosé as she tried to figure Gian Andrews characteristics. " He seems too arogant." But she decided to jot down his information.

Gian Vincent Turner, runs a local hospital in his hometown and never refuses anyone help. Considered a seasoned professional and deservely enjoys great respect among the townspeople. 

"This one has a girlfriend," she concluded seeing the post and pictures of the viewed profile. "But who knows, his information might come in handy." She added as she jotted down information.

Gian Leonard Wilson, a man with an intellegent and a noble appearance. Have often similar characters in old films and art galleries. A reasonable and experience leader who has won recognition and respect from the residents.

"A leader,"says Rosé." I wonder how busy he gets. This type of person were often hard to look for a love interest, " she added.

"This one... This one... This one..." Rosé just kept finding some reasons for the person she viewed and jotted down information. "This thing is really irrational," says Rosé and take a deep breath.

"What a busy day you have there?" Dane said happily as she sat in front of Rosé. 

Dane Galvan - a woman in her average height, long black hair and asian morena complexion. Major in computer engineering but loves outdoor activity like hiking and of course, being one with the beach. 

Rosé smiles and closed down her laptop. 

"Believe me," says Rosé. "I've been doing a lot of stalking nowadays." 

"I believe that," says Dane and they both chuckle. 

"What's this?," says Lhei as sitted near the notes Rosé writes with all the Gian information and flipping some pages.

"That was just nothing," says Rosé as she stands up from her chair "Coffee?"

"Yes please, " says Lhei and handed the notes to Dane.

"Coming right up," Rosé said cheerfully and headed to the shop counter.

After making the special gandola coffee for the three of them, Rosé headed back to the table where her friends were busy chatting. She handed them the coffee and take her seat. 

"Who are this people?," says Dane as she saws her her list.

"They were just random people from the social media," says Rosé and take a sip from the coffee she made earlier. 

"You know what?," says Lhei and sitted briskly in the chair and laid her palms face in the table. "You should take a break," she added.

"I agree," says Dane. "How about we take some salty breeze?," Dane suggested.

"Well," says Rosé while contemplating. "I would love that," she said as she put the coffee in the table. "Should I make reservation now?," she says as she look at the girls. "I was thinking of going to an adventure of figuring this people out."

"No," says Lhei. "Leave everything to us," and she smiles mischievously.

As years grow older, you seek for an adventure. An adventure of realizing who you are, what you want, and when will be the time you finally find peace. It becomes a motivation and a lesson to pushed your self to a better you. But will this adventure be an adventure of good treasures or will it lead you to disaster?
