He was at the top of his class, but he wasn't admired by his age group nor by his peers. Maddy didn't have the charm like other cold and aloof male leads had in stories for being swooned over, always keeping to themselves. No, rather, he was abhorred for not giving the others a chance to talk to him.

It's not that Maddy didn't, but he developed a shy and meek personality over the years and he couldn't hold a conversation for longer than five seconds. It became more prominent when a teacher would call on him to answer a question, which he could, but couldn't put any volume to his voice resulting in the teacher's annoyance.

He'd go home rather late and would be greeted by the hollow silence. His parents would rarely be at home and on the account that they are, there was no difference to what he usually came home to; unless there was a young guest who his parents loved so much like he was their own son.

Maddy would stare enviously, but he didn't dare release a peep. He'd bottle up all resentment and sadness, releasing them through the hushed whispers of his longings every night. His sorrows overflowed once he heard his parents speak of him who was only mistakenly adopted.

Maddy couldn't handle the grief and tried to delude himself into believing what he heard was false, only a prank to help him speak up and voice his emotions because his parents wanted him to be brave.

He couldn't take it otherwise.

His performance drastically gravitated downhill, falling to the lowest ranking due to his mental instability.

His fragile heart couldn't take the sneers and contemptuous gazes directed to him from school. He couldn't take it, much more, from his parents' scorn and harsh words.

Taking a few deep breaths to calm myself down I quietly relaxed and closed my eyes for a second picturing Josh and I in the woods laughing about a prank he pulled on the baker right before he was fired. I knew it led to him being fired but it was funny at the time.

My wonderful, handsome and prankster of a boyfriend. He keeps me filled with happiness and love. I am never bored when he is around and we ever seem to do the same thing twice. We have been together in secret for almost 3 years now.

I was caught there in my daydream when all the sudden I felt something brush my ankle. Opening my eyes and looking down I saw nothing there at all. This had to be my nerves and I was just imagining it. I shifted my chair closer to Marie and used the bottom of her bed to prop my feet up and got comfortable so I could read my book I brought back with me after cooking in the kitchen.

Marie sighed which told me she was fully immersed in the game. I really hope things are going to be ok for her. Where the hell was Josh? Is he that worried about my note to show up and then leave? I will have to find him tonight or tomorrow depending on when Marie is not in the game and is charging her VR set. I really looked Marie over. I worried about her when I leave the orphanage in about 6 months. I have to leave at the age of 18 by law. Her offer for marriage would let me take her with me but I dont think Josh would be happy with that. She is my best friend and at times Josh seems jealous of my relationship with her. I will habe to talk to him about the possibility as well. Wow I have a lot him and I need to sit down and talk about. The bodyguard job, what he was going to do now that he lost his job, his place he is living right now is above the bakery. He is going to have to mve out in the next week to a month. The baker might let him stay until he finds another job. If he gets hired by Marie I dont know what he is going to do for living space as he is 18 and can't move in here. Maybe his parents will take him back in for a few months until I turn 18.

Completely lost in thought I didn't notice the arms reaching out to grab me from under the bed.

The next thing I knew both of my legs were grabbed and I jumped to stand up and yelled. Looking down I saw Josh's face smiling from under Marie's bed. When that little shit comes out of the VRMMO I am going to get her back so good. I have no clue what I am going to do but I WILL do something. Damn it they BOTH got me good.

"Josh what the hell are you doing under Marie's bed? You could of given me a heart attack. How long have you been under the bed? Does Marie know you are there? Forget that last question, of course she knows you are there. Why else would she of made me feel so stupid for checking her closet for you. Come on out and go get another chair. We need to have a long talk and hopefully this will work out for us both in the long run."

Josh smiled and slid out from under the bed on the other side of where Sam was. He knew better then to get out next to him. He truly spooked him and he knew his loving sweetheart would get even with him. He also needed to talk to Sam about the marriage idea and find out what this job opportunity is. So he hurried out of the room to find a chair and come back.

"Oh my God I cant believe Josh did that to me. I was freaking out about what I could be missing. Now I know it was so I could have her leave the VRMMO and yell at her for the set up. This talk is either going to make or break our relationship. I am so worried." Sam quietly said out loud.

While all that was going on. I found myself back in my room at the inn. I knew I had to head over to the skill trainer and get my quest for my next skill. I checked my timer for how long I had left and was shocked to see I still had slightly less then 2 days left on my time. If has felt like its been days to a week since I first started the game but its only been a day and 2 hours of in game time. I also noted I still had a day and 6 hours left on my noble armor set before I could take it off. So I would have about 10 to 12 hours of being armor free before my role was given to me. I checked my inventory and saw that I had my 86 gold still and all my items I should have and headed out of my room. I noticed a little mail icon but decided to check it after I got the quest for my second skill. Walking out to the Inn was the same as last time only there seemed to be more people there and some looked a lot higher of a level then the starters. I realized that I had decent armor but I lacked an actual weapon other then the beginner sword I was given. It would kill the small creatures around the village but nothing else after I leave this area. I told myself I would get a weapon once I got my quest for my second skill done. I am going to get the Apothecary skill. I know I talked about getting the writing and languages skill but I think making potions would allow me to travel to find rare herbs so I can grow them in my shop enough that I would be able to get out and about.

As soon as I stepped down the last step everyone froze again and bowed, knelt or curtsied. I did my best to ignore them as I walked by but I heard a few whisper to one another if I could be the noble that one person was talking about on the forums. Didn't the person say the race though was Dragonkin? That noble lacks the Dragonkin wings and is a human. Lucky for me my armor and cloak hide my wings so no one could tell my race. My body frame is similar to a humans body frame and only the wings and skin gives away my race, which is currently all covered up by my armor set.

Whispers continued, Just remember the name of the noble and watch out for the notifications. Maybe that source on the forums will know more soon and can share the name or something else. If anyone can see the nobles name let us know after the noble leaves.

I ignored them and kept walking with confident steps. Inside I was yelling at myself at how I could be so foolish and give away too much to the point I might of gotten caught already and that would be dangerous for me. Making up my mind to get a better weapon right now I headed out of the inn and headed straight for the auction hall I saw when I was heading toward the storage master. It will take me about 10mins to walk there so I kept an eye out for anyone following me. I saw a few guards standing near a wall and walked over to them. They stood at attention as soon as I got close.

"Guards, there are some players that are following me and I think they have ill intent towards me. They are all actual players and not NPCs. Please do your job and stop them if they come by. I would like to make sure I am safe while in your fair city."

"By your command we will summon more guards to follow you and be at your destination, My Lady, just let us know where you are going."

"I am heading to the auction hall right now to find a better weapon and then the skill trainers."

"Contacting the guards now. We will watch for players to pass us now. Be safe until the next set of guards arrive. It will be at the most 5 mins until they are in position for you. My Lady be safe and take care."

Keeping my wits about me I continue on my way. I make sure to keep a steady pace and don't look like I am rushing. I keep wondering to myself, how did they find my location? A few mins later I see 3 sets of guards standing along my way to the Auction hall. I am about 2 mins away from the hall. One set of guards start walking towards the hall while the other two stand there talking to each other. As I pass them I see one set stop talking and turn to follow me at a slight distance. It appears the guards are going to do their jobs. I wish they were more then NPCs but I will take what I can get. 

Arriving at the auction hall I am shocked when I walk inside. Everything about this game screams medieval times with different races walking around but the auction hall makes it beyond clear this is a game. On the left side I can see holograms of different types of transportation, mostly horses, carriages and various carts. One the right I see various signs for materials like herbs, food, wood, iron and various plants and flowers. In the center I see a station for houses which intrigues me but I will check that out after I find a weapon and maybe a shield too and then get my second skill. So I walk to the back of the hall and after passing every clothing type, accessory shop and armor shop station I finally found the weapon one. I walk up to it and tap on the screen. Hundreds of options appear. I think about it and limit my search to swords for right now. Prices looked outrageous on here and most I had to be higher level to use do I used the filter to show only what I would be able to use. There were 10 options left for me. The first 6 were great swords and required a lot of strength and two hands and I rejected them flat out. I am on the weaker side body wise as I knew my real body would affect my abilities. Speed and agility would be my strength in the game. I saw two that had a lot of promise but there was a third one that could grow with me. The first two were good and solid beginner swords that looked like more advanced swords. One had a poison ability that I didnt like so I turned that one down. The other one had an ice effect that seemes pretty cool. Both were set in stats ans couldnt be upgraded. The Third one was the one I was being drawn too but the name had me questioning my sanity. 
It was named The woman's cursed blade. The description read, This blade can only be wielded by women and will be bound once equipped. The blade once bound will activate a curse that will grant the user a special affect. What that affect is will be random and then locked in place permanently. Luck could grant you a second or third ability or no ability at all. This blade will level with you as you level and will glow an eerie black shade of whatever special affect you are granted.

I thought hard about that blade. With a price of 6gold it was a pretty big risk as if I get a horrible special effecr or worse no effect at all then I am stuck with that sword taking up an inventory slot unless I destroy the sword and then the gold is a waste as I cant sell it once it's equipped. 

After 5 mins of staring at my 3 options I decided to go with the cursed blade. As I took out my 6 gold coins I noticed a few people standing around sort of near me but not too close to be alarming. I glanced around to see 6 guards near by as well so I relaxed and paid for the weapon. A package appeared in front of me and instead of just taking it I decided to open in right then and there. As I opened it people seemed to watch me pretty closely but as soon as it was open people backed away pretty fast. Apparently the weapon scared them and I am not sure why. I opened my equipment page and went to equip it but got told that wasn't allowed in the auction hall do I put it in my inventory and went over to the shield station. I started looking for a shield and found a matching shield to the sword. It was only 3 gold and decided to get it as well and put it in my inventory too. People around gasped when they saw the shield I picked. I smiled and turned to walk out of the auction hall. One player walked up to me and waved and then asked me a question. It was in a language that I didn't know, maybe it was Japanese or something Asian but I only knew English and the translator apparently only works for typed messages. Looking up I saw his name was Kuro.

"I am sorry, Kuro but I do not understand you. I speak English."

I waved at him and started to head out. He stopped me again and bowed his head a few times and said something else slowly.

"Kon'nichiwa" said Kuro

I smiled, I used to read books about Japan so I knew the standard greeting.

"Kon'nichiwa, Hello, Do you understand English?"

He smiled and nodded at me. Ok I thought I can ask him simple yes or no questions. I wish I could do more and I wondered why he was trying to talk to me of all people. I thought about a way to help and realized that if I got the writing and language skill I would be able to understand him. Maybe it was a useful skill to have after all if I want to travel later in life.

"Come with me and I will see if I can help you."

He bowed and said "Arigatōgozaimashita"

I had no clue what that meant but I knew Arigato meant Thanks so I assumed that was what he was saying. The guards had their hands on their weapons and came closer to be in range if needed. I headed out of the Auction hall to see a small crowd of people around the hall. I headed toward the skill vendor with Kuro following behind me like a little foreign puppy. I thought Fairies are kind of cute looking like a child in height yet they are adults. This guy was dwarf like with a large black beard and a large nose with cute royal blue wings.

We walked to the Artistry vendor and I told the vendor what he would need and that he spoke Japanese and the two of them started talking too fast for me to understand them. Finally they stopped and both looked at me.

"My Lady, the guy here wants to speak with you but can not as he already has two skills. He says he was some very important information for you but you will need to be able to understand him or be able to read it to get the informarion as it is in Japanese. It is something to do with your house or items."

"Very well, if it's that important then I will learn the writing and language skill as my second skill. Please teach me the skill."

"By your command My Lady so shall it be."

*Chime* Writing and language skill recieved *Chime*

Please go over to the writing board and copy the lettering that you see onto the white boards. Take your time and complete 3 boards correctly to learn the skill fully.

I walked over to the writing boards and took my time writing the strange lettering. It took me an hour and 9 tries to get 3 right but I finally got the notification that I had learned the skill.

I turned to find Kuro and he was still standing there patiently with a smile on his face.

"Ok how can I help you?"

"Did you know you picked cursed items? They will bind to you if you equip them. You bought both the weapon and shield set, are you trying to complete the cursed set and become the cursed one? I know where you can find the armor and gloves. The leggings and boots are in the auction hall and for 5 gold you can buy them both. The armor is harder to get to but with 4 cursed items it should be easier. I will help you get to them if you want me too. Do you want to find them?"

"Well I will have to look at the other items to see if I want those. As for the armor set what do you know about them. I might as well grab the rest of the set if they are close. So to answer your question yes I want to find them."

You get one character creation and can design how your avatar looks though their are rules: Men and women must be their respected genders, ages are your real age, and your character name is permanent and bound to everything that you do BOTH in game and out. You can pick between races which each come with their own set of rules/abilities. But the biggest thing of all is that all choices are final and forever. "What do you think you are doing?" yelled Shi, "Get down from there right now. You are going to break your neck of you fall from that roof." That little spoiled brat of a kid is going to get me punished again. I hated being the whipping boy (girl) for that noble. This was the life I was given in the game I play. Once your character is made you are stuck with it. But we can change our fate and choose our own if we can solve a hidden mystery...

 
Benjamin was a little surprised.
"You... did you remove the curse?"
He looked at Miles who was in high spirit. He was not as depressed as when he was in the Kingdom of Helius. Hence, Benjamin asked subconsciously.
Miles heard it, humphed, and shook his head, "Don’t mention it."
…Okay then.
Benjamin had no choice but to swallow his doubts and change the course of the conversation, "What did you come here suddenly for? Did you get a mission to assassinate the member of the parliament?"
"No... I got a message from the Kingdom of Helius, you should be interested in it." Miles rolled over, jumped onto the balcony and said, "The Church has just ended a civil war, some of the nobles family’s properties are being confiscated, and many priests died during the process. Now, the people in the Kingdom of Helius are at great risk."
Hearing that, Benjamin raised his eyebrow in surprise.
He did not expect Miles to get the information that he wanted when his information personnel had just entered the Kingdom of Helius. Should he ask Miles to train the dark operation of the academy? 
"How much do you know? Tell me."
Miles replied, "For the time being, the Church was divided into two groups. The group with Grant as their leader is spreading news saying that the Pope is dead, whereas the group with the bishop of St. Peter's Cathedral as their leader is trying to hide this news for his own sake, and this has enraged God. Therefore, they killed that bishop and elected Grant as the new pope."
Crap... so soon?
Benjamin could not help but take a cold breath.
He knew there was a power struggle within the church, and he knew that Grant might be elected. However, he never expected that Grant's would move that quickly.
After all, that bastard was a year younger than Benjamin!
If it was in a few years’ time, with Grant’s status, he would have the automatic rights to the Pope's position. Therefore, from Benjamin’s point of view, the civil strife was certainly not just for the position of the pope. However... there were definitely some contradictions that others did not know about. 
Benjamin could not help but to shake his head at this thought.
He still remembered how Grant used to look like. It was hard to imagine, the naïve boy who was passionate about simulated war games would kill his teacher without any hesitation, and cause a reign of terror in the church.
"...Has he succeeded?" Benjamin came back to his senses and asked.
Miles nodded.
"After about half a month of civil strife, most of the forces of the Church are already under his control. He was originally the sole candidate for the next Pope, and now that the news about the death of the pope is being leaked. No matter how reluctant the other bishops are, they will have no choice but to support his coronation ceremony."
"So... Is he now the Pope?"
"No. I do not know the details, but they probably need some time to prepare. According to some news that I overheard, the coronation ceremony will be held next month."
The coronation ceremony would be held next month...
Benjamin could not help but take a deep breath, a weird feeling welled up in his heart.
Could this be... fate?
He actually did not believe in it. The legend that happened thousands and millions of years ago would be repeated... It was as if God had arranged everything. Moreover, becoming "God’s chosen one" sounded a little narcissistic, as if it was a plot that appeared in the twentieth-century television dramas.
However, as it progressed and developed into this stage, the wheels had fallen into a fixed position. Benjamin had to admit that all of this was way too similar.
Grant would soon become the new Pope, and he was standing at the peak of the mages. Everything played out just like the legend, both of them would be opposing each other in terms of divine arts and magic. Only this time, Benjamin was determined to put an end to this opposition.
Would history repeat itself?
Benjamin felt something heavy weighing on him, it was as if it everything had somehow been premeditated, and they were just chess pieces on the board.
However... no matter what, the situation they were in was different from the legends of Cain and Abel. The legends had it that the brothers were related both in terms of their blood and soul. But now, from a spiritual point of view, Grant was not Benjamin's younger brother.
His stay in the Lithur family and with Grant was brief, so he did not get to develop a close relationship with him. Therefore, even if it came to the point where they need to harm each other, it would not be that hard for him.
"...Can you deliver a letter for me?" Benjamin said suddenly.
"What letter?"
"It can be considered  a…. letter home?" Benjamin shrugged and said, "Now that Grant is going to be the Pope, perhaps, it might be a good thing."
Although the Church and mages were enemies for generations, there was still a relationship between Grant and him. If he were to write a letter and try to get in touch, maybe this could be a turn for the better. 
It was definitely hard to reconcile, but... it was at least worth a try.
"You want me to deliver this letter to the cathedral?" Miles had an unexpected look.
Benjamin nodded and asked, "It is just delivering a letter, is that really that hard? You can get in and out easily, even Grant cannot keep you there."
"That is because they are not prepared," Miles immediately shook his head and refused, "Although I am unsure about it, they should have some anti-spy magic tool. You want this letter to be sent to the hands of Grant, right? However, as long as I sneak in, surely most of the priests will be alerted, and the letter will be completely exposed."
Benjamin thought for a moment and said, "Then deliver it to the Lithur family, they will probably pass the letter to Grant."
"This…"
"I will not let you work for nothing, I will pay you."
"Okay then."
With that, their brief conversation ended. Benjamin was about to get back and continue his meeting. Miles had already jumped out of the balcony and quickly disappeared into the darkness.
As the meeting of the Judgement Parliament continued, the Guild Master was speaking relentlessly, whereas Benjamin lowered his head, took out a piece of paper and pen and started thinking about what he should write. This letter might completely change the situation of several countries, he naturally must consider it carefully before writing.
In fact, when he started writing, he found out that he basically knew nothing about Grant.
Why did Grant cause a civil strife at this moment? How did he think of mages? Was his faith strong? To what extent did his strength growth?
Benjamin felt like he was writing to a stranger.
The feeling of not knowing how to start made him hesitate. However, for the future of the mages, he had to do it. He wrote some good words in the letter, then he wrote his views on divine arts and magic.
Magic and Divine Arts, it was originally the same thing.
In the end, he asked about the Lithur family, sent some friendly hints and ended the letter. He did not expect such a short letter to ignite Grant's brotherhood. However, at the very least, it would make him understand that they did not necessarily have to be enemies.
After the meeting, the mages had left the villa located in Carretas which was exclusive to the parliament. Benjamin had also handed the letter to Miles, and then returned to the academy with his mages. The new semester’s opening ceremony was about to begin, so he had to get back and prepare for it.
However, during his preparation, he went to the potion department to help Miles ask about a way to cure him. Miles might not accept his help, but... no one cared.
"Elder, have you heard of the abyss trial?"
 
 


Kubei was just an ordinary pencil and button pusher working a day job, hating his boss and making horrible speeches when one day he fell asleep after pushing an all-nighter. When he woke up, he was bound to a chair, facing three creepy robed women and in a body way too young and way too weak to be his own. As he slowly came to, he realized that he was no longer in the same universe as he was before. He had teleported to the Kingdom of Helius, where an all-powerful church rules its lands and wages war against the elusive group known only as Mages. Armed with an incredibly cocky neural interface that just won’t shut up and his own sheer wit, our MC will find himself not just fighting to survive, but maybe even something bigger than himself.

A place where time does not exist existed. Wait no, let me correct that.
A place where time is insignificant existed. Now, that's better.

You may not believe it, but how can I not?  I am living- I mean, staying here and I have one job.

To write.

Everyone here has one job, a job unique to us. Work that we will perform until we leave this place.

Before we entered this place, we were given choices - to do a job here or go to where our souls belong. I chose the former because I felt it was the right choice.

Maybe, I was anticipating that I can finally have my dream job, which is writing, or it was just curiosity. Whatever it may be, it was enough to make me choose to do a job.

Luckily, being a writer was still on the list of available jobs. Editing, which no one chose since the beginning, would've been my second choice.

Writing was my passion, but I never got to do it. I don't even know if I had talent in it since I died too early. Be a doctor or an engineer, then live your life - that's how I was supposed to live.

But after becoming a doctor, I got here. I never got to live my life. Anyway, enough drama.

Unlike the living dimension, talent doesn't matter here. Choose a job, and you'll be able to do it without hiccups.

Back to the main point, closing the dimension? I couldn't care less about the others who just came here for fun, but how about those who wanted to be here like me? Will they wait for eternity until the dimension opens up again, or will they automatically go to either of the two places?


Well, I only have one way to answer that. I'll need to write about this.

We all live, we all die. But have you ever wondered what really happens after we die?

I thought my end would be either at those two places but a dimension where time does not exist, existed.

In here, we all have one job. One can clean anything, another can teach anything. And mine?

Well, I can write anything. Even things I never knew in my whole lifetime, I can write about it.

I never knew what love is. I never knew what it feels to be loved or to love.

Will a pen really be enough to know? Should I write about the thing called "love"?

Is love that shallow?

I don't think so.

A whole week passed since the kidnapping incident. In a sense, they completed the mission as Renna, the young elven girl, was brought back safely...but not without casualties. 

Originally, King Adrian would have a major event 2 days after the rescue in order to announce to the citizens the next step of the kingdom. But ever since the incident, King Adrian has locked himself up in his study room for an entire week. 

"Is King Adrian still eating well? What is he doing..." Grant said to Braum. They were currently outside the study room's door. 

"He's working. For the entire week, he has been working. He told me and General Tobias to tighten security along our and the elven border while he is rushing to create various reforms to develop the kingdom faster. *sigh* I am worried as well but the King just had a traumatic experience so this might be one way to deal with it...How is it going on your end?" Braum asked Grant. 

Grant replied. "These mercenaries are not simple. We are having a hard time finding any more traces of them, even with the help of Detective Bedford it's taking a while. Well, the mercenaries themselves are not that strong and intelligent but..." 

"Slaven. That person. He's probably the brain. Without him, we would've already dealt with the mercenaries long ago. How many people do you think they have?" Braum asked. 

"Hard to tell for now. But he said his goal is to enslave the entire elven race. Knowing that he could be hiding thousands of mercenaries in our region. With that number, it's reasonable to believe that they probably have multiple bases." Grant answered. 

"Well, keep trying...the only thing that struck me weird is that one of the elves seem to know who Slaven is," Braum said.

"Huh? What do you mean?" Grant's voice showed surprise.

"You weren't there. The King and I reported what we witnessed to the high elders of the elves and Chief Kylantha. When we mentioned Slaven's name, one of them reacted to hearing the name...very subtly. One of the elders...But I can't really question him since he's so high up in the elven tribe." Braum answered.

Braum stared at Grant for a while after saying that.

"I got it. I'll investigate." Grant replied. "What about the elven girl? King Adrian specifically requested the elves that he would take her to this castle and raise her personally after hearing she did not have any family members left...I wasn't sure if that was a good idea." Grant continued. 

"Renna is doing fine. Sometimes she cries without any warning but the presence of King Adrian, her survivor, always calmed her. I think leaving her with the elves would've been worse since it'll make her grief about her brother even more. She's probably in there right now." Braum looked at the study room's door before turning back to Grant again. "Well. I'll get going now. The King had me working extra hard as well....let me tell you, the direction he's going to take this time is quite unique." Braum continued.

"I'll get going too. The event is tomorrow. I'll need to make sure everything is secure." Grant replied before disappearing in a flash of light.

Braum looked at the disappearing Grant before also walking the opposite direction.

A young girl was laying on the floor reading a book. The book seemed to be aimed towards children as there were colorful illustrations with the texts being less pronounced. The girl's ear was long and her beautiful blonde hair was scattered on the floor. She was Renna, the young elven girl. 

"King Adrian...let's play again." She looked up from her book towards a man who was busy writing documents on his desk. King Adrian was out of his suit but he was still wearing the white shirt underneath with his upper part unbuttoned. The current season was summer so it was quite hot and moist, even indoors. 

King Adrian stopped writing and looked at Renna on the floor while smiling. "We'll play after tomorrow, okay? After the event tomorrow, we'll take a tour of the whole city!" King Adrian said cheerfully. 

"Yay! I want to see the city!" Renna replied. 

King Adrian flashed a bittersweet smile. 'I am glad she is starting to recover....the first few days she was here, she couldn't stop crying about her brother's death at all. I had to calm her down on my lap while I was working. I'm glad...' King Adrian thought. 

'Slaven...In the name of Vathria, I'll hunt you down.' King Adrian said in his mind. 

Renna stood up from the floor and approached the desk. 

"King Adrian, what are you working on, anyway?" Renna looked at the desk with curiosity. 

"Well, here's the list." King Adrian showed Renna the list. 

1. Military Reform-Establishment of ranks and divisions, 
2. Trade Reform-Innovation and startup incentives
3. Education Reform- 12 years of basic education and re-establishing universities
4. Mages Reform- Establishment of a Mage Academy and towers
5. Agricultural Reform-Crop rotation, pesticide, mass-production
6. Manufacturing Reform-Establishment of factories and mass-production lines
7. Finance Reform-Establishment of banks and the new cashless card. 
8. Homeland Security Reform-Establishment of formal identifications and passports
9. Foreign Relations Reform- Establishing trade cooperations with other nations
10. Domestic Security Reform-Establishment of the Police force.

The list went on and on. 

"Whoah.....you worked on this for the whole week? Alone?" Renna's mouth was wide open. 

"Well...not just this week. Here." King Adrian handed Renna a book. The book was titled 'Contingency of Losing The War: Rebuilding Vathria in a New World'. 

"What is this?" Renna inspected the book. Unlike other books she had seen, this book was made crudely and did not seem intricate. 

"I made that 10 years ago when I was 15. You see, I had come up with a plan to re-establish the kingdom if we lose the war....which happened. That's why I'm here right now." King Adrian replied. 

"Can I read this?" Renna said with starry eyes. It seemed she was fascinated by it. 

"Of course." King Adrian replied. 

Renna started to open and skimmed through the book. "Are you sure you're able to do all this?" Renna said with an amazed face. She did not read everything yet but she got the gist of it. 

"Well, I don't know yet. Truth be told, many of the reforms will not be completed for a long time and may take years...but...our population is limited and our kingdom is still small. We're sitting ducks if we can't compete with other kingdoms and threats....let alone the evil forces." King Adrian replied.

"Can't we elves help you? Perhaps if we all come here you can do it faster!" Renna said happily. 

King Adrian snickered. "I wished it was that simple. We're still two distinct groups and although I made a blood pact with your chief, it doesn't mean everyone trusts one another yet. But sure, if all the elves help with our development, it would be much faster." King Adrian replied. 

"We should!!! I'll tell Chief Kylantha next time! We elves are too suspicious about everything! Even when people like you come to help us! My brother was also—" Renna started rambling but stopped when she mentioned her brother. 

Renna's face started to tear up again. "My brother...."

King Adrian got up from his seat and pulled Renna to his lap. He put Renna's head on his chest. "Sshhh sshhh. There there. C'mon. I'll play with you now." 

"Hic hic" Renna cried on his shoulder. This was something usual for the last 7 days. She would suddenly start to cry when she remembered her brother, even after she tried so hard to take her mind off it. 

King Adrian and Renna stayed like that for a while.

Hear ye hear ye.

There existed a Kingdom named Vathria, the last stand of good against the evil forces. The capital Dathria was breached and the kingdom was lost. With a heavy heart, the young king who just took the mantle decided to abandon his kingdom with some of his people to another world where he can rebuild yet again. 

But the young king knew that the evil forces will soon follow them to this new world. The king must prepare a mighty force before the enemy's arrival. Follow him on his journey to build a new empire, one that would dwarf his previous kingdom and able to withstand the evil forces. 


Disclaimer: Bored college student here, this is sort of a kingdom-building novel. I'm quite busy so most chapters might not be proofread very well.  (I'd rather work on my school papers).

"So none of you are willing to go back with me?"

3 days had gone by just like that..... and today, Santa was finally leaving Baymard.
But since he would be coming again once Penelope signed the treaty.... everyone chose to go later on, and not right now.
And since they were allowed to work, they immediately started thinking of going job hunting and so on.
Sure, they were royals..... but ever since they had stepped in here, they had seen other royals worke as well.
Mother Kim was a teacher, and even king Landon worked at the hospital and every other place one could imagine.

Yesterday when they looked at the newspaper, they saw several job ads in them.
One should know that at the end of every semester, students graduated and started looking for jobs.
Hence there were always people trying to get into the job market.
.
Even those who were on holidays still needed summer jobs... hence the newspapers were always filled with several jobs offered daily.
Of course, some jobs like junior electricians..... or any job that was deeply rooted with Baymard's secrets, were completely unavailable to Non-Baymardians.
On the newspapers, it would say things like: 'Must be a citizen of Baymard'... And so on.
.
Yesterday, they had spent their entire time preparing for some job interviews.
They had read articles on the newspaper about prepping for jobs... as well as what they should bring to these interviews.
The whole thing seemed so fascinating.... especially to the women.
One had to know that all they did all day.....  was sit at home, make sure that the maids had prepared their husband and children's meals, run the household, and so on.
They actually never touched anything, so this was a whole new experience for them.

As for the men, they couldn't leave as well.... as 4 days from now, they would begin a test trial on how Baymard was going to train their knights.
They would train until Santa came back.
And apart from that, they were also allowed to take up part time jobs if they wanted to.
Staying in Baymard for months, would definitely run their money dry.... whether they were nobles or not.
Hence getting a job was definitely for the best.

In respect to the children, they were all starting school in 2 days time.... so of course they would stay as well.
Yes.... Duchess Mina and Duke Samula had decided to allow their children stay in Baymard and study for both semesters.
And in summer, they would come back to Carona as well.
One had to look at the bigger picture here.
If they could get educated, then when they graduated.... they could help in making changes within Carona.
After all, like Landon had said: the future were the youths.

And so as to keep their sons sword fighting skills intact..... they had decided to leave 4 of their most trusted guards with them while they stayed.
One had to know that knight pages trained almost everyday..... hence they needed the guards to keep their sons on their toes.
At least once a day, ther sons should practice fiercely for an entire hour.... or more.
.
As for their daughters, they were more than pleased to elevate them... as they felt like the courses offered here, were way better than what was offered at Carona.
So far, their daughters had taken etiquette classes, Poetry, reading and writing classes.... as well as simple math classes (addition & subtraction)
But when they saw Linda and all the other children here.... they were completely stunned by how intellectually smart they all were.

Anyway... Today was August 10th, and school had already resumed on the 3rd of the month.
But even still, Landon had assured them that it wasn't too late for the children to join in the semester.
Presently, they had all signed up for:
•Math 1: Addition & subtraction 
•Math 2 : Division & Multiplication
•Pyron 1: Nouns, adjectives, Reading, writing...etc
.
Of course those were just their main courses.... as they had other courses like Arts & Craft, History, Poetry, Gym, and so on.
So one could say that these children would have their hands full for the rest of the semester.
Bottom line, Santa was leaving with half of the royal guards..... and neveryone else was staying here until the treaty was brought back.

Looking at the goods that he had stocked up on his ship, Santa couldn't help but smile a bit.
For this first round, he had only chosen things that were a necessity for his people.
Things like Mattresses, beddings, books, pens, winter jackets, .... and so on, were his first line of action.
.
Before leaving, he had spoken to Landon about the price.
Landon wanted these items to be accessible to even peasants, so there was no way that he would allow anyone to sell them at a ridiculously price.
Hence he came up with a price range for various areas..... based on the exportation tax fees and so on.
For example, if 12 pencils cost 3 Copper coins.... then Carona could sell it between 3-8 Copper coins per pack.
.
Landon had added shipping rate, exportation tax, middleman fees and so on... to the that initial price.
But since Santa would usually buy in bulk/wholesale... the price should automatically become cheaper, when compared to shipping individually.
At the end, he had cost down on a lot of fees.
Time passed by swiftly.... and once everything was finally packed, Santa came back to say goodbye to everyone.

"Woo... Bro, they're so mean.
Can't they at least pretend to miss me a little?" Santa said while hugging Landon and pouting like a little kid.
Landon shook his head and smiled awkwardly.
This guy was truly shameless!
Everyone felt a headache coming along, as they looked at the giant sized child before them.
The children smacked their hands at their foreheads, as they too felt like this guy way too childish..... even for them.
And they should know, they were the ones who were kids.

"Ermmm...Uncle, you know we'll miss you right?
So stop crying." Replied one of the children.
"Yeah uncle.... we'll miss you for sure."
"Uncle, haven't I told you that you're the best in the whole wide Hertfilia?"
The children tried to coax this baby-like uncle of theirs until they saw signs of his 'mood' cheering up.

Santa raised his head and looked at them sadly, with a poppy dog look on his face.
"Really?..... You'll miss me?" Santa asked pitifully.
"For sure uncle." They replied.
"Okay... since you'll all miss me too much, then come back with me."
"__"
"Uncle.... please get on the ship!"
"Farewell uncle!"
"Goodbye!!"


Chu Yi dies in a car crash and becomes Landon Barn, the illegitimate son of king Barn, ruler of Arcadina. Because his mother was a maid and the king’s greatest disgrace, his father had always despised him. The same could be said for his half-siblings.

His deadbeat father had indirectly banished him from the empire.

"You looks so tired, Maija- oops! Sorry. I mean Zian. I'm still not used to it." Manager Crystal laughed as she tapped the table. Crystal is Maija's manager since she started to become an actress.




Zian shook her head and waved her hands. "Nah, it's okay. I'm not still used to it too. You know, being Maija is not that easy. I need to learn a lot of things about Maija. Calling me Maija still feels me confuse but I know that later on, I will get used to it." Zian laughed shyly as she covers her mouth.





"That's okay. I understand you. Well, back to our topic. You look so tired. Your face is so pale." Crystal touched Zian's forehead as she touched hers too, checking Zian's temperature. "Hmmm. Your temperature is normal. You're not sick. Did something happen yesterday?"






Zian smiled at Crystal who looks concerned at her. "Nah. I'm just tired because I did a lot of stuff last night and slept late." Zian explained.





As Zian looked at the window while drinking her coffee she remembered what happened last night.





"Maija!" Zian woke up when she heard someone shout. She was so surprised when she found Grant standing beside her bed. She suddenly smelled a reeking alcohol from Grant.





"Grant is drunk." She thought.




Zian immediately stood up and held Grant as she helped him to lay down on the bed. But Grant pushed her away from him made her fell down on the floor.





"Ouch!" Zian rubbed her butt and she managed to stand up even though she's in pain from falling down on the cemented tiles floor.






"You ruined my life you still dare to live here in my house like a queen!" Grant yelled as he pulled her towards him. They're so close to each other. They can smell and feel each other's breath. She looked away to avoid Grant's glare.





She was so scared. She was about to cry but she controlled her emotion and force her self not to cry in front of him.




"What did I do to you for you to wreck my life?" He gripped Zian's hands tightly. Zian is still calm and not talking.





"Are you playing mute now?" He laughed.




He pushed her down on the bed and pinned her. "You're already my wife so you need to fulfill my needs." He started to kiss her hungrily. Zian have no choice but just to let him what he wants to do with her. She really felt that she's raped by her own husband.




Grant's hand wandered at Zian's body. Grant groaned with pleasure. "She's so damn hot!" He thought. He bit Zian's nipple that made her moaned in pain. "How does she have a hot body like this in a week? She was not like this when we're not yet married. Maybe she did a lot of surgery to achieve a body like this. Tsk! She even prepared this to seduce me!"





"I wanna go home!" Zian thought while crying. She can't control her emotions anymore. She keeps on sobbing while crying. She never thought that Grant will treat her like this.






Grant succeeded and he dressed as he finished at her. He left Zian crying in pain.




"You deserve that, bitch!" Grant said as he slammed the door.







Zian left crying on her bed. Her clothes are ripped out. She decided to clean herself. She turned on the shower and sat down. She cried as the water flows on her. She felt like so gross. She thinks that she's so dirty after what Grant did to her.




"Hey, Zian!" Crystal snapped in front of her face.




Zian blinked her eyes then smiled. "Sorry. What is it?"





"Gosh! You're spacing out! Where did your mind wander? Mars? Mercury? Venus?"





Zian immediately interrupts her before Crystal will say all the names of the planets. "No! It's just that I'm sleepy." She defends.





"As I was saying, you need to clear all your appointment this week until next-next week because you need to attend the Vrynth fashion show in Japan. And you need to fly tomorrow morning. I already booked you a flight. It's okay. Don't be nervous, I'm coming with you."






Zian put down her coffee. "Why so sudden? You know that I'm still not expert with that kind of thing. You know what I mean."




"That is the reason why I want to meet you now. I'm going to train you before we go to Japan. But first, you need to go home and pack your clothes and meet me at my place."






Zian didn't argue with her because she knows for sure that she can't win over her.






Zian arrived in their house. It's just their housekeepers were in their house when she arrived.





"Where is Grant?" She asked one of their maids.




"He's not yet here, madame." Zian nodded at her and went directly to her room. She started to pack her clothes.



"Maybe going to Japan is a great idea. I can have a vacation and time to refresh my mind." Zian said as she was done packing her clothes. I hope I can really relax in Japan.






"I'm going to Japan and I don't know when will I come back. Take care of him. Make sure that he'll eat on time."





"Yes, madame." They bowed down their head on her and she said her goodbye to them.






I know that he will be glad if I'm not around him. He will wish that I will be gone for him.






Zian went directly to Crystal's place and they started immediately to practice.




"Oh my goodness, Zian! You walked like you never used high heels! Come on, you used to use high heels. Why are you walking like that?!" Crystal pissed off.




"I'm sorry. I hurt my foot that's why." Zian lied. She really didn't hurt her foot. It's just that she's not in a mood. 




Zian knows how to walk properly using high heels but she never experiences in modeling especially in a fashion show.





"Goodness! You know what, Zian? Just be confident walking in front of many people. Or imagine that you're the only person in that fashion show!" Zian ignored Crystal's hysterical. Instead, she continued to practice.







"Remember Zian, you are Maija now and not Zian. So you better act like Maija and do the jobs for her!"





Yeah, yeah, yeah! No need to remind me. No need to remind me that I chose the wrong path and it ruin my life. I wish Maija will come back the soonest! 






"Where's Maija?" Grant asked his maid as he arrived.





"We don't know where she went. She didn't inform us where she's going. She left with her suitcase."





Grant smirked. I wish she'll go for good and never come back.
