I need to submit my graphic manga application. I also need to hide my money so that my parents don't find them. I know they will be greedy and spend my hard-earned money." My eyes closed. Then, I woke up and thought, "Aren't I'm dead from the fire? How come I'm still alive?" My eyes opened, and someone appears before me and said, "Hello, I'm your mother. Your name will be Alicia. Nice to meet you," and she smiled. Thinking to myself, I was fascinated and thought that I reincarnated in this life. And so, my new life begins now.

Shimizu Arisu, reincarnated as Alicia Ross in this life, have decided to live a peaceful and stable life. As news of her sick mother, her new identity is a princess. Her life as a commoner has stop to an end and her life as a royal princess begins. What kind of future will she have?

It was just another day for him. Birds still singing, in a chirp contrast of the vibrant metropolis and children laughter playing in the park. A well-deserved holiday, toiling in sweat and energy drinks for 4-months in his grueling work as an animator for anime studio.

Still staring at the grey ceiling. Most of the colorful articles inside his room were gathering dust, a testament of how long he is been away from the once-safe bastion of him. Old plastic models, standing idly behind the glass casket. If auctioned it could sell, perhaps thousands or millions, being the older, lost, and original figurines, in other words, his collection could become an article of antiquity.
Passionate fans and collectors might be screamed in rage when seeing the state those figurines being treated to. Unappreciated, and collecting in the dust. Either way, he had no time to appreciate it at any time, not anymore. When his holiday could be cut short at any time with a single phone call from his boss.
Might a good time, to buy a personal assistant. It was once the dreamt of his youth, hell every adolescent boy will dream of it when technology is not as advanced as it is now. Android and artificial intelligence are not only realized in the book of Asimov, but they also do and can dream of electric sheep in this day with the news of the latest models that capable to feel emotion.
And again, the idea was left down the gutter, when everything was so hectic on the studio's he barely thought about his personal life other than gulping the energy drink, and nutrient bar.

Plastic LED monitor, and a bulky CPU with a mere 16gb Ram and old generation graphic card and processor of 9th series that once boasted as a beast among computers specification in the past day of age, now regarded as would a stone-ax from the ancient era.
He didn't care, preferring the dream of his youth rather than the newest cognitive-user interface and virtual reality. A hologram computer that connected to the neural implant, the people of old said.
Windows 7, the OS is pleasantly nostalgic to him. With its blue theme as the User Interface, and once become the most stable OS he preferred.
A faint tug of a smile formed upon his face. Sweeping the dark bang away, he hovered the cursor to various icons presented on the layer of the monitor.

12-Hours has passed, he noted the dusk sky outside the window.
And yet, he still not played the game. Apparently, Skyrim modding has not died yet, and he had a hard time choosing the right mod to suit his next gameplay.
After a few deliberations, and customize every mod he deemed as cheating with high-stat and is easy to obtain. He customized it so those items will be hard to get, such as through high-level blacksmith skills, rare ingredients through mod that adds a new monster, or outright end-game quest rewards.
It was rather easy for him, but very time consuming and tedious which he found as another joy why he likes Skyrim and its other series.
64-Hours has passed, his room once littered with dust now accompanied with garbage strewn all over. The kind of room where one usually found in 30-years old Wizard and The Ilk where they don't want to work.
It's fine, he can call the cleaning service anyway. Such is the thought of someone who lives in a near utopian society where all demand can be met with a single swipe.
439-Hours has passed, his eye widened once he saw the number when he pressed the exit button after… weeks of play. Somehow, he managed to left for days without sleep, granted all the energy drink strewn across his room. A rather harmful habit. He hurriedly opened the log history of his interface computer, revealing hundreds of missed calls and messages left unread.
Oh shit, most of the call is from his boss and other colleagues. He found it a sad thing, as there's no other contact from his friends or family. What a cruel world.
Uwwah, the movie got delayed because of his absence. A rather crushing burden was placed on his back. Once he went to the studio, the only fury of his boss awaits and the letter of his retirement will await. He didn't want to go there, ah, I hope the world end tomorrow or something.
I'm sorry, I played a game too much last night Tee-He~ Like hell he could do that.
He opened the nearest cabinet and grabbing the oldest alcoholic drink he had stored. His eyes grew weary, the black hair loses its luster, and his back becomes hunched. And soon after a few big gulps, he found himself nodding on the bed.
He feels to not have the desire to wake up.

Oh, don't make such a mistake, he already read too many counts of Light novel to know where this is going. The voice is rather alien to him, there's no one in his apartment and no one had the keys other than the owner whom is a woman. And burglar won't even bother to wake him up.

4. The client is not allowed to sully the dignity of the kitty.
5. The client is not allowed to send the kitty to certain death.
6. The client is not allowed to rob the kitty.
7. The client must pay the association XXXXX lbs of Catnip at the start of every year (the equivalent in human currency will also do). Otherwise, this contract will be terminated. XX% of this payment will be paid to the kitty as wages. Advanced payment is allowed.

Back when kitty first read that contract, kitty thought that only an idiot would sign it. 

Kitty used to be a common, peace-loving kitty. After graduating from kitty school, kitty went back home, slept, ate, and slept all day. Every ordinary, non-changing day was a day of peace, a day that kitty would be satisfied with. 
Walking no further than to the doorway to pick up the graphic novels that kitty ordered online, and turning on the television while stuffing kitty's cheeks with delivery sushi, kitty lived a very efficient life. 
Kitty was satisfied, but mama kitty was not. Mean mama kitty kicked kitty out, telling kitty not to come back until kitty gets a job. How awful! What kind of mama kitty is she!? 

Left with no other option, before kitty starved to death, kitty went to the most well-known kitty job placement association, otherwise known to all the kitties in Kitty Paradise, as the Kitty Mercenary Association. 
The kitty mercenary association does not care for your credentials, as long as you're above a certain age. Whether male kitty or female kitty, educated or uneducated, citizen or convict, thin or fat, the kitty mercenary association accepts them all. 
Free job training, free catnip, and free lodging. They guarantee to never give up on you until you get a job! ...It was hell. 

The comfortable dorm life that was advertised on television was definitely pirated from some school drama. The reality? It was a ****ing kitty boot-camp. 
Every morning, kitty would be forced awake by a sounding gong. All the kitties in the dorms would be force to run. No run? No food. 
Even worse was that the kitty instructors would sometimes bring out a "prize" for the fastest kitty, an entire fish on a fishing hook! That's right, it was on a fishing hook, connected to a fishing line, to a fishing rod held by the kitty instructor running alongside us kitty mercenaries-in-training. Us kitties, whom have only the lowest grade of catnip every day for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, drool at the sight of said fish. Every kitty would run faster, and the first kitty to get to the fish would have it all to himself... or so you'd think. After that kitty takes the first bite, all the other kitties would leap at him, and start a kitty tussle. The brutality of it all scared kitty very much. Kitty didn't dare to take part. 

Breakfast really was just plain catnip. Kitty doesn't have anything against catnip. Catnip is the common currency and staple food of Kitty Paradise. But eating the same kind of catnip every day, every meal, can't help but make kitty feel it go stale...
There wasn't even any milk to go along with our meals, only water. Apparently, all the vitamins and minerals we kitties needed were infused into the catnip. No wonder the catnip tasted different from the catnip back home.

After breakfast would be our daily punching routine! We kitty mercenaries-in-training would line up standing, and thrust our fore-paws forward, shouting "Meow! Meow! Meow!", until our throats go hoarse. 
Squats, push-ups, sit-ups, dragging along kitty milk barrels... filled with sand! We kitties had to do them all. 

Then, still all sweaty, we kitty mercenaries-in-training would have to shout out the kitty code of honor, ten times for each verse. It was a code of honor filled with patriotism, designed to rehabilitate former kitty criminals. But the thing is, kitty is not criminal. Why does kitty have to shout all this...

After lunch is weapon training, and weapon maintenance. After the founding of Kitty Paradise, the ancestors of we kitty-kind adopted the same weapons used by those stupid fur-less animals called humans. What were our ancestors thinking, kitty wondered. But kitty didn't dare to say that out loud, or else, the kitty instructors will scold kitty for being an unfilial descendant. 
Sword, shield, spear, axe, club, bows, guns, bombs... kitty used them all. 

"Why can't kitty just master one weapon and be done with it?" One day, kitty was stupid enough to ask that.

"You stupid kitty! What if you one day lose your weapon and have to use whatever you find on the ground? Will you then complain that it isn't a weapon you are good with!? Go give me another 100 push-ups!" The kitty instructor so berated. 

After the weapon maintenance was a shower, then dinner, then chores, and then sleep. All of this sounds like it takes a short time, but in reality? We kitty mercenaries-in-training only had a mere 8 hours of sleep per night. Only a MERE 8 HOURS! For a KITTY! Isn't that awful? 

Days passed. Then weeks. Months went by. 
Just as kitty was getting despairingly used to this kind of torturous everyday life, when kitty thought that it couldn't get any worse, our weapon training courses got replaced by self-defense courses. 
It does not sound that bad? Kitty laughs at your naivety. 
If it was just sparring with your kitty comrades and instructors, it would have still been fine. But do you know that game in the arcades? The whack-a-mouse game? Mm. Us kitty mercenaries-in-training had to go through that... except we were the ones playing the role of the mice. 
A giant human-shaped robot raises it foot... and then stamps it down at us kitties at increasingly high speeds. How awful! This is kitty-abuse! 

It was at that moment that kitty decided to quit!
But kitty was not allowed to quit...
Kitty was chased by starving dogs...

"**** ****ing dogs! Why are those evil animals in Kitty Paradise!? This is a breach of national law!" 

"Don't worry. This isn't a dog. It is a toothless, claw-less, hairless, castrated... 4-legged big land fish." 

"Woof!"

"It barked just now! Kitty heard it bark just now!" Of course, kitty's complaints fell on deaf ears. Kitty went back to training. 

After training in how not to get stomped to death by wicked humans, next was projectile training... where kitty was targeted by bullets, from handguns, to sniper rifles, to gatlings. Then, it was artillery training, where kitty was targeted by ballistae, falling missiles, homing missiles. Disaster training, where kitty had to disarm bombs, swim against a flood, survive a fall from the top of a building, survive a fall from aircraft, survive an avalanche at Mount Olympuss...

Everything was for our own good, they say, so that kitty can survive in the work-world, they say. But kitty felt... it was hell.

After a year in that hell, kitty graduated, having gone from the late levels of the second stage of the monster cultivation stages, the stage of Salvaging Enlightenment, blazed through the third stage, the stage of Honing Perception, and entered the early levels of the fourth stage, the stage of Feral Instinct. 

This miraculous cultivation speed, was just as advertised on television!

Kitty cried on the day of graduation. Whether it was tears of joy, or tears of release, even kitty did not know.
After signing a confidentiality agreement, forbidding kitty from saying anything about the kitty boot-camp, kitty was given his kitty mercenary certificate from his squad's kitty instructor. The always mean kitty instructor looked at kitty with a proud smile on at that moment. Kitty thought he was a different kitty. 
Every kitty in our kitty mercenaries-in-training squad, or at least the ones that graduated on time and didn't have to take remedial lessons, took a photo together to take home as a souvenir. Every kitty, except our kitty instructor, was crying in the photo. 

Our kitty instructor told us a few more things about the job, told us to be careful out there, and then we left. The next time Kitty would come to the Kitty Mercenary Association would be when the association has found a client for kitty. Naturally, kitty is not allowed to decline. For the next hundred years, according to contract, kitty would have to accept jobs from the Kitty Mercenary Association, in return for the torture, scratch that, training, that the association provided to kitty. Hopefully, kitty does not get a client for the next hundred years.

Officially, kitty had gotten a job. Thus, the satisfied mama kitty finally let kitty back into the house. Kitty resumed his peaceful life, of eating, sleeping, flipping through the pages of graphic novels, watching anime, and sleeping. 

The peaceful life did not last very long. Kitty got a client sooner than kitty expected. 

It was a stupid human male with a stupid smile plastered on his face.

As Elsa close her eyes and embrace death she found her self floating in a dark void with nothing to see she get confused as she expected herself to be in hell chained and tortured for eternity but here she is floating in the void,  she look down to inspect her self to find that she is still the same except she has no flesh and transparent like hologram, a spiritor a soul, she start thinking about her strange situation and eventually an idea forms in her mind that she is in some kind of hell but an exile one that suppose to stay a lone for eternity and with no communication with any living being "well I expected more but it is better that way I like this one more than be to tortured for eternity , although it will be boring but I can pass the time meditating after all is my favorite hobby, now I thing about it it is much better this way I can do my favorite hobby for eternity and no need for food, water and other necessities as I am a spirit, soul or an hollow like that anime that James use to watch".

Elsa start laughing after remembering james love for anime and novels in his younger years, as she was remembering the past she notice a light coming out from the area of her chest she was puzzled and look at it as the light start growing and coming out and float in front of her,  the light solidified to form a jade,  A black jade with three coloured lines red, blue and one with constant change in colour although specific ones being light blue,  purple, gold and red crimson.
Elsa instantly try to move her body away but she notice that she can't move her self and watch frustrated and helpless as the black jade start moving to her head, all while Elsa was trying to move her body and struggle against whatever was holding her down but the jade already touch her head, as Elsa wait for something to happen the jade once again turn to light and fused with her soul/spirit as she felt nothing she was confused and wonder what was that about,  when suddenly pain shot through her but she only frown her eyebrows and endure through it when she suddenly blank out and information come to her mind about a fantasy world full with cultivators,  divine beasts and unknown mystic things, cultivation levels and notice a Cultivation Technique come with the information as Elsa regain her composure she has a very weird expression on her face as she is trying to understand and fully comprehension what is waiting for her, as Elsa start to regain her usual expressionless face "well that was surprising to think that such a think will happen to me,  well if this world is anything like the novels I use to read with James then I think I can adept to it but if it different then I need be cautious and perhaps it will more fun to cultivate there , well when I get there I make sure if the information I receive it true or not, and if it is true then anytime soon I will reborn as a new baby in that world so I will wait and see"             As Elsa start waiting,  she thought about the meditation part and thought about doing it so she just close her eyes and start meditating in the same position she is as she can't move her body yet,  as Elsa meditate she lost the time as she just there, after unknown time she start felling a pulling force pulling her,  she open her eyes and saw a crack open on front of her, she just look at it and Elsa get sucked, as she travel in a long tunnel she suddenly saw the end of the tunnel and fell in womb as she perceive , Elsa look at her new body and judging by it's look the age of the body is about 5 to 6 months meaning that she has about 7 to 6 months for her birth,  Elsa then start looking at the information she got from the jade and understand the graphic of this world and social system " so the world is is separated to five continent each one of those is bigger than Africa and Asia combined together meaning the world is 10 times bigger than earth, hmm well for sure the world is big it will be more interesting to find about the secrets in this world, about the cultivation levels it says there is nine realms in cultivation stander thing, moving on there also levels of power for organisation, empires, sects and clans in this world also are measured in nine levels too.                                  now about the cultivation technique the name is 7- heavenly star,  allow the cultivator to cultivate seven daos, three of them been lightening, fire and water with the other four the cultivator can choose what he or she wants " as so like this Elsa spend her time in the womb absorbing the information she got unaware that her birth time is close.
and one day as she was still immerse in her planing for her future and what to do if any situation rise, she suddenly feel a sucking force pulling her to an opening that appear,  Elsa realize that she was about to born,  so she just wait until she get her head out and immediately start crying as soon she get her head out to not draw attention to her of being any abnormal baby.

mean while the new mother of Elsa was screaming her heart out and the nanny was saying to her "Madam push a little more I can see the head, just a little more "
The madam just continue to scream and finally with one last push the nanny receive the baby and the baby start crying.
the nanny says " madam is a baby girl congratulations madam ching ".
"give to me" madam chino says.
the nanny give the baby to madam ching , as madam ching was holding her baby and lovingly holding her little hand the baby stop crying and fell sleep, when the door to the room was opened and a man wearing a leisure clothes come in, the madam that was so lovingly and gentle suddenly her expression change to and indifferent expression " oh my lord is good to see you, here you new daughter Ye Ching,  what do you think is a good name is it? " The man now identified as Lord Ching "Madam as usual you give a good name, I just come to check on youand I see you are also very well along side our daughter,  now that I have check excuse me I will be going " and without waiting for her respond he left the room, strangely the maids and the nanny all have a normal expression on their faces like is everyday thing to see the Lord and his wife treating each other this way but it is consider normal if you know the nature of the Ching family they are known to have only one rule in their family and that is if your talented in any field you are welcome but if you aren't then there is no place between us for you and that person will mysterly disappear from the family thus the family is notoriously famous for its cruel nature although the other families are not not less cruel but they at least keep their useless member a live and just keep them away from power and the resources of the family.

but unknown to the Lord and his wife and the servants the baby girl was not sleep and listen to the exchange that happen between  her parents and thought ' interesting it seem that my new family is not a loving family but a family built on benefits,  although myother seems to care for me as long as I not interfere with her matter and crossing her base line' Elsa start smiling and this time really fall sleep thinking ' no shackles'.

And this day will be known in the future as the day the Queen come to life.

If you told me this would be my situation a year ago after I left my semi-longterm friend group, I wouldn't have gotten my hopes up. 
I entered a new group whom I love so fucking dearly I know I'll never let them go. 

We have the mom of the group, Rena. Tall with a big bust and short red pixie hair. Ex-martial artist, artistic guru and loves to clean and bake chocolate pastries. 
Funny story I was actually terrified of her when I saw her in high school. She seemed like a brute who didn't care about what anyone said about her. It was awesome but being meek shy little me I was absolutely intimidated. Skip  a few years and I'm introduced to her by her best friend Lucy. Messy short blonde with brown undertones, height is probably 5'3, two inches taller than me.
Lucy and I have actually been distant friends since we took gym together in high school. We were workout buddies who would always try our best compared to everyone else in the class. Even if we weren't the most fit or fastest we worked the hardest and gained the respect of our classmates and teacher. We made a good team and positively influenced and motivated each other to constantly do better. 
I'm glad I met her again at the newly opened smoothie cafe at the college "Pub". We caught up and I found out that she's working on a graphic design career with her friend Rena who's getting an art major. It's so awesome that they plan on working at the same company. 
Now let me introduce you to whoM we all love and cherish no matter what, our clown Emma.   About as tall as Rena but 100x more silly rather than serious. Her mind is a loveable tangled ball of rubber bands each band representing a pun or a random out of this world idea that can make you question her sanity. She has ADHD so when we make plans it's important to keep an eye on her so she doesn't forget anything like that time she left her glasses at one of our dorm rooms. She can get on the nerve of Rena sometimes who's extremely organized and focused, but Lucy and I act as the noble middle men who help keep the peace. I can picture us both posing heroically in silver armor over exaggeratedly if we heard that statement out loud. 

Lindsay was the middleman and introduced me to both Rena and Emma. It's only been about 6 months since we've all been friends hanging out together but there's a warmth in this group that I've never felt before. We can openly vent and expect support and positive feedback. There's no doubt that any of us care for each other. We all have our differences and cherish that about each other. I feel like I've known them for years, and I undoubtedly know I'll hold onto this friendship for life.  

Unfortunately these discoveries are never the end of the story. We'd like things to end when everything goes perfect because we're scared of losing that perfect moment. Time tells many stories and time never ends. 

Friendships are never anyone's life and the true test of friendship comes with distance and trust. It's a test I would be worried about for my other old friends, but never for them. Despite the fact that no matter where we go we'll always be connected, I have to focus on what I want to do with my life. Rena and Lucy got their goals figured out and Emma is about to transfer to a new college at the end of the year to study marine biology. And for me? I'm not sure exactly. It's hard to live solely for myself so I want to work in a helping profession. I'm currently taking Psychology courses which have got to be the most enjoyable classes I've ever taken. 

It's 5pm in the evening and I sit on the couch next to Rena who's watching an anime on naked man-eating giants. She's on her phone and I notice she's playing with her dating app. Note: She's extremely lesbian. I would say the lesbian dragon queen of rainbows. 
"OMG GUYS I HAVE A DATE THIS SATURDAY WITH A SUPER CUTE GURL!! AHH!" She yells out loud and Lucy runs and slides into the living room peeking at her phone from behind the couch. "Oh my gosh! She's super pretty." 
"I know!!!" Rena squeals like a child on christmas morning. 
She turns her phone's screen to me and it's a cute freckled girl with glasses who has short wavy brunette hair. "Ooh! If you need help with any preparation for the date just let me know. I'd be happy to help~!" I offer. For the next hour we help ease Rena's consciousness as she freaks out about this coming weekend's event. 

In the back of my mind I can't help but think of my other best friend who I just met recently but I feel like I've known him forever. 
My phone starts to buzz. It's him.

Ada is a fairly innocent young adult. She grew up with fairytales from barbies movies, and romanticized popular tv’s and shows that tell us that if we do the right things then we can be happy. Happy meaning being successful in love and life. 
Recently ending a relationship with an ex-partner her hope to find love is reignited by a new special someone who takes her by surprise.

Jason's parents turned to Giorgio after hearing his voice. Seeing that he had their attention Giorgio continued "I know that this isn't the best conditions to be meeting under but first things first I would like to make sure that something finds it's rightful place."

Giorgio pulled out a check from the inner pocket of his suit "Here you go" He then handed the check to Jason's dad.

Jason's dad had questioning look on his face as he observed Giorgio. He then glanced down to look at the check "5,000 dollars? What is this for?"

Giorgio kept his smile up "That is the prize money your son won fair and square when he managed to beat someone that is a top 20 ranked high school player as well as the number 1 ranked sophomore"

Tory was still in the embrace of Jason's mom as she looked up in confusion "But you already gave Jason the check for the prize money? And wasn't it only supposed to be a thousand dollars?"

Giorgio smiled as he scratched his head "You're right sweetheart! I guess I'm just being forgetful today. I forgot that the prize was only a thousand dollars and I forgot that I already gave Jason the prize. Well you might as well keep it. And don't worry about the hospital bill we'll tak-"

He never got to finish his sentence. Jason's dad had the collar of Giorgio's white dress shirt and suit gripped tightly in his hands as he used them to choke him.

The veins on his arms and neck bulged as he spoke "The first thing you say to us after putting our son in the hospital isn't about how concerned you are about his health or how sorry you are for doing this-"

His nostrils flared as he continued "But about prizes and money? You don't need to worry about making sure that the check finds it's rightful place"

Giorgio's face was changing from red to purple as Jason's dad spat the words through his teeth "You're going to have to worry about making sure you can still breath without a machine helping you. Because if anything bad happens to my son. Today will be the first time I have ever been to the hospital and police department in the span of one day"

Tory was shocked. This was a side of her uncle that she had never witnessed in all the years that she had know him.

Jason's mom however wasn't surprised. She knew what kind of man she fell in love with. She knew that underneath the warm and caring layers of her husband was a line that couldn't be crossed. She knew about the fierce and unyielding spirit that existed underneath his cheerful and loving energy.

Giorgio's vision began to darken. Just as he felt like he was about to lose consciousness Jerome jumped in.

He faced Jason's parents and apologized in a shaky voice "I-I'm so sorry. It's all my fault. I know that I can't say anything to excuse what I've done"

He wanted to look them in their eyes and sincerely apologize but his head felt like it was chained to the ground. 

All he could do was stare at the floor "I shouldn't have even suggested playing a game against him. With the difference  in our age and size you could even call it bullying instead of a game."

He continued "But something about your son drew me to play against him. He's special. He's got a real talent. I'm not trying to make excuses for myself-"

He hesitated for a moment before continuing "But your son pushed me to the point where I forgot I was playing against a middle schooler in the parking lot of a mall. I felt like I was competing against real competition at a tournament."

He then looked at Giorgio before finally being able to look up at Jason's parents "And I'm sorry for how Mr. Giorgio introduced himself. He is actually a very nice man if you get to know him."

Jerome continued "It's just that ever since we've started scouting for this show a large number of the parent's we've met have been the kind that just wanted to know how big of a check could they get in exchange for their kids."

Jason's dad didn't want to forgive them so easily. These were the people who brought harm to his family. Physical harm to his son and emotional harm to his wife as well as himself.

But seeing the guilt ridden face of a kid who didn't hesitate to wear his heart on his sleeve softened him up. Especially since Jerome was only a few years older than his own son.

Giorgio's face returned to a normal color after Jason's dad let go of his collar. Jason's dad took a deep breath "Let's just wait to hear from the doctors"

Giorgio glanced at Jerome and gave him a thankful look. Jerome and Giorgio moved away from Tory and Jason's parents to give them some space.

After a few hours of waiting a doctor came out. He walked over to Jason's parents "Mr. and Mrs. Yang. The results for the scans have come back and-"

Kyle was sitting at the dinning table helping himself to some of the meatloaf that his mom had just made. There were still boxes here and there but the house was beginning to feel and look more like a home.

The TV was on but Kyle and his mom weren't paying much attention to what was on. Kyle smiled as he talked with his mom "And that's when Jason passed me the ball. I was wide open and I managed to score with a layup"

Kyle's mom smiled as she listened to her son talk about the game "Wow! Good job baby. Momma's so sorry that she couldn't watch your first game. But I already told the hospital that I needed to be off in in three weeks. I will be there to cheer on my little hooper"

Kyle smiled after hearing that. Kyle's mom took a bite of her cooking before continueing "I really need to thank this Jason boy. He seems like he's been a great influence on you in the one week that you've been friends."

She drank some water "You know that I support you and your internet hobby baby. Heck I even help you with your wigs. But I'm glad that you're getting some exercise instead of just dressing up like cartoon characters all day"

Kyle groaned "Mom! I told you it's called cosplaying. And it's anime not cartoons. I stopped watching cartoons a long time ago"

Kyle's mom laughed and apologized "Right. Anime and cosplay. Sorry about that baby. But my point still stands. I'm also happy that you have a friend you can actually invite over for dinner one of these days. Not that I don't like your internet friends."

As they were chatting and eating their meal Kyle turned to the TV after hearing his school get brought up.

A woman in a blue dress was on the screen as she presented the news "Good evening everybody. Our story for today is about a local Riverside city middle schooler from Jefferson middle school."

The video with Jason playing one on one on his first day as well as a video of what looked like the game against Mt. Vernon played on screen.

The lady continued "This middle schooler had been gaining fame recently from these two videos that showed off his amazing abilities with a basketball."

Kyle's mom saw Kyle in the video of the game against Mt. Vernon "Wasn't that you and your school on the TV Kyle?"

Kyle smiled and boasted "Yeah. I was in one of the clips. But that's the friend I was telling you about, that's Jason. It looks like he has a whole story about him on the news"

But the smile on his face soon disappeared. The news then showed a video of Jason hitting a three pointer against Jerome and the one on one game they played after that.

The news anchor continued  "Jerome Bonner the star Point Guard for McDaniels high school in Los Angeles was with the crew of an upcoming TV show called Through the Hoops.

Through the Hoops is a docuseries focused on young talented basketball players one of whom happens to be Jerome Bonner.

Jerome Bonner and the crew were in Riverside today to film promotional material for the show. But after losing to a middle schooler Jerome seemingly loses control of his emotions. 

He challenges the middle schooler to a rematch that unfortunately ended with the young boy being sent to the hospital. We have yet to receive any updates on his condition at this time."

Kyle was speachless. He just gazed at the TV. The news station had blurred out Jason's face in all the videos that they showed but Kyle knew. He knew it was Jason. 

And even though they blurred Jason's face Kyle still saw the pool of blood that had collected under his head. 

Kyle's mom knocked down her chair as she hurriedly got up. She hugged her son as she rested her head on top of his "Its going to be okay Kyle"

Samantha was in her room sitting in her chair in front of her desk. The wall behind her was empty but on the floor were a bunch of posters and pictures of Punk Rock bands.

She was dressed very differently than how she normally did when she went to school. Instead of her standard graphic Tees and ripped up jeans she was wearing a green dress that matched her light green eyes.

On her computer screen was a middle aged man who had the same green eyes as her. He was slightly tanned and had short blond hair that was combed over to the side.

Samantha drowned out the man's voice 'Oh my god. How long is he going to yap for. The calls been going on for over an hour now' Samantha blew a lock of her red curly hair out of her face in frustration.

The man said "Make sure you take your school work seriously. You need good grades if you don't want to end up as a bum." Samantha modded her head before coldly answering "Yes father"

He began talking again after hearing Samantha's response. Samantha continued to block out his voice as she played with her phone out of the camera's view. 

She stopped as she noticed a trending topic 'Jefferson middle school's basketball star gets sent to hospital'

Coach Swendel was dressed in nothing but his white boxers that had pink hearts all over. He was sweating as he cooked in the kitchen section of his studio apartment.

He leaned over the pot as he mixed the instant ramen "Fucking hell! I'm sweating my balls off. Stupid landlord. I know the rent is cheap but the least they could do is fix the AC"

He was cooking when he saw the same news segment that Kyle did. He started smiling after he saw the first two videos "Haha That's my golden ticket. We're going to be known as a powerhouse school with him as our secret weapon" 

But after the news got to the part where Jason and Jerome played one on one the smiled disappeared from his face. And after they showed Jason's blurred out face with blood pooling underneath his head Coach Swendel fainted. His body crumpled to the floor.

“I'll just force them to recognize and respect the blood and sweat that I'm dripping on the hardwood. Because I don't hold anything back. I leave everything out on the court." -Jason Yang.


Ever since one fateful moment Jason had been hooked to basketball. The phrase “Ball is life” couldn’t be anymore true for Jason. He wasn’t born with any god given talent nor did he posses the body of a natural born athlete. The only thing Jason could rely on was his unbreakable will. But after ten years of not being able to make the jump to the professional level doubts begin to crawl into Jason’s mind for the first time. Just as he was at a turning point in his life Jason dies only to find that he has woken up twenty years in the past. Can he utilize his years of experience and the skills he developed as a collegiate player to make it to the professional level in this second chance at life?
