This is a novel about novels that I'd like to be made. Some wonderful ideas are here. Comment your ideas to get them added.

Haruto throw a piece of rock on the window of the apartment. 

Clang!

The window was shattered immediately as soon as the rock collided at its surface. 

The sound it cause made the zombies turned their heads to look. The zombie slowly approached the apartment with uneven steps.

Seeing this, Haruto took a deep breath. He jumped forward and run in the opposite direction of the zombies as fast as he could. 

He run faster while carefully looking at his surrounding. He doesn't want any zombies to notice him. He wasn't prepared to fight any of them, plus with their numbers even if he have a weapon he doesn't have a chance to win.

Luckily for him, he was very athletic. He arrived inside one of the apartment in just a few seconds. He quickly locked the door behind him. 

Tap! Tap!

Haruto flinched as he heard a footsteps behind him. Rotten smell quickly assaulted his nose. 

He gulped as he slowly turned his head to look behind him. 

He saw a human corpse slowly walking towards him. It was covered in dry blood. One of its eyes was hanging outside of the eye socket. Its bloodied figure slowly moved towards him.

"Raaa!" 

A low growl escape from the zombie. It raised both of its hand attempting to grab him.

"Shit!" 

He raised his feet and kicked the body of the zombie.

Bang!

The zombie crashed in the table causing a loud sound. 

Black sticky liquid stuck on his pants when he kick the zombie. 

"Move!"

He quickly run towards the kitchen of this apartment. There, he found a kitchen knife. Then, he turned around and face the zombie.

He slashed the knife on the neck of the zombie before he stabbed it on the head. 

Putchi!

The zombie stopped its movement and fell down on the ground. All of this happened in just a mere few seconds. 

"That's first kill." 

He muttered as he wiped the sweat forming on his head. He was glad that he learned basic fighting skills before. To think that he would need it to kill zombies. 

He pulled the knife from the head of the zombie. 

He walked towards the window and took a look outside. He saw that the zombies outside were heading towards this apartment.

"That's too many." His mouth twitched while looking at the hundreds of zombies walking towards his direction.

Based on the movement speed of the zombies, it will take take atleast one minutes before they arrived here.

He quickly run around the apartment and found the backdoor. He slowly opened and looked outside. When he saw that it was safe, he exited the apartment and went to the neighboring three-story house.

From the far away building, a woman holding a telescope in her eyes was looking at this scene on the rooftop of a building. 

She saw everything that happened to Haruto. After a few moments, she brought down the telescope and looked behind her. 

"How is it?" A man in his thirties asked her. He was wearing a black tank top and navy blue pants with lots of blood stain. There's two handgun hanging on his waist. 

"There's a person near the southern entrance of the city." She said to the man. 

"Alive! How many?" The man was quite surprised hearing this.

"Just one person." The woman answer as she tied her silky black hair in a pony tail before she walked passed the man. She was wearing a fitted black shirt and military pants coupled with military boots. 

"One person, huh? Well, that person will not live that long." The man muttered in a low voice.

Haruto stood behind the door of the three-story house. He moved quietly as he closed the windows and covered it with cabinets. 

"Okay, let's kill those damn zombies!" He said with a smile on his face as he started to walked around the house. 

He already learned his lesson from before, so he will find the zombie if there's any inside this house. 

He just need to be careful and he would be able to kill one or two zombies on his own. The movements of the zombies were simple and stiff. It's easy to predict their movements for someone like him who learned martial arts. He just need to calm down and those zombies were no matched for him. 

There's a room at his left side. He place his hand on the doorknob and slowly opened it. 

Swooosh!

Cold wind escape from the room and brushed his face. He shivered because of this. He bit his lower lip as he peek inside the room. 

He saw tons of can foods inside the room and a figure standing motionless in front of the open refrigerator. 

"There's electricity here." 

He was glad when he found that there's electricity in this house. He shouldn't think about other things as there's a zombie in front of him.

He carefully went inside the room and closed the door beside him. He then approached the zombie before piercing its head with a knife. 

Putchi!

Before the zombie fell on the ground, Haruto caught it in his arms as he doesn't want it to cause any sounds. 

He gritted his teeth as he lay down the zombie on the ground. While doing this, he felt his stomach turning upside down. 

Black sticky liquid stuck on his shirt and palm. 

"What the hell is this liquid?!" He cursed in a low voice as he stood up and cleaned his palm using a handkerchief.

He took out his phone as he felt it vibrated when he killed the zombie before. He looked at the system prompts that he received.

[Mission: Kill 500 zombies. Progress: 2/500]

[Gain 1 points for killing a zombie!]

[Gain 2 points for killing a zombie!]

"Hmm...? What's with this points?" He muttered curiously when he saw the prompts. 

He checked his phone and found that there's [Item], [Equipment], [Combat Arts], [Abilities], [Magic Spell],[World], [Forum], [Duel], [Guild], and [Ranking] interface but all of this were locked. He needs to finish the Newbie World first before he could unlocked all of this. 

There's no point in thinking about these things when he still haven't finished the Newbie World. He could only guess that the points were important to this game. 

He shook his and exited the room. There's a lot of can foods there so he doesn't have any problem in foods. He should worry about the missions instead.

He walked ahead and opened a room beside. He looked and found that this room was a room of a child. It was full of tottered stuff toys. 

There's a family picture on the ground. 

He noticed it and picked it up. He looked at it and saw a family of five people. They were all smiling happily but now he didn't know what happened to them. 

This zombie outbreak ruined all the lives living being in this world. Not just humans, it also includes animals as he saw that there's mutated animals in this world on his phone. 

Then he went to the second floor. He saw a figure of a woman walking. This woman was already dead. 

"The residents of this house were all dead." Haruto murmured in a low voice. 

This woman must be the mother of the family and the zombie he killed before was the father. 

He slowly approached the zombie and stabbed his knife on the head of the zombie. 

He's slowly getting used to this scene. Killing a zombie was slowly becoming a natural feeling to him. 

He lay down the zombie on the ground. 

If he's correct then there's three zombie left here in this house. 

"Huff..." Haruto took a deep breath and tightened all of his muscles.

"All right, let's do this!"

He tapped his knife on the metal pole on the stairs. The sounds was loud enough for people to hear it around the house but it wasn't loud enough for the people outside to hear.

He was going to wrapped up this. He's going to kill all the three zombies left. The children of the woman and man that he killed before. 

Soon, he heard footsteps from the floor above and the rooms ahead of him. A zombie walked out of the room and looked at him with crazy eyes. 

"I'm putting you to rest, so rest in peace." He said as ha dashed towards the zombie. 

The zombie stretched out its hands.

Haruto crouched down and slashed the knees of the zombie. 

Thud!

The zombie fall on its knees. He quickly stabbed his knife on the eye socket of the zombie. 

Putchi!

He pulled out his knife as he need to killed the other two zombies here in this house.

Haruto was bored of his everyday life. He wants to change something from him. 

He wants to go on adventures and discover new things. 

One day, someone send him a link to a game called [God World Game].

He installed the game thinking that it wouldn't brought him any harm. 

He wouldn't expect that this game would brought him a new things that he haven't experience before.

The winner of my prompt was a book that is now on hiatus. No other entries qualified. At the time I didn't realize that having votes was the rank qualifier. So my book was instantly disqualified.
Despite not making it past the car park, so to speak, I kept this story going. I had moved it to Wattpad and continued to post chapters there.
I entered it into a Wattpad community award, and had eventually won the award for Historical Fiction, but never received the prize for it. 😆
That's okay. Knowing that my writing was enough to be a winner in a judge's eyes was cool. It won over some quality stories as well. That was a prize enough for me.
After some time, I started posting the story to Tapread where it picked up read interest there. Then I got a ping from Islinda who liked the lone chapter I had left on the book page.  
This story has been a blast to write. I'm proud of what I've been able to achieve with it. I have no regrets of what I leave behind, as I have given my best shot.

 "No," Clyde said, causing the women to smile in relief. "This is a strange world, but I don't hate it." He left off the, "because of you guys."  
Had to separate himself from the dopey main characters somehow. And saying something like that out of the moment…Not him. Even if it was true. Of course, judging how they looked at Clyde, whether he said that or not wouldn't have mattered. "We've been through a lot in just one freaking week. And speaking of fighting, I know you're trying to be modest Chika, but could please tell us what you did while we were battling Zeth."
 "You saw?"
 "Remember how I said I can sense people's powers and actions," Clyde said. He didn't dare reveal anything about the prompts—there was a limit to how much he'd risk drawing the attention of someone more dangerous than Mortem. Besides, if they knew that the prompts could reveal their secrets or that it kept up with how they felt about him—revealing their internal relationship—embarrassment would become the understatement of the century. He told them the truth of being sent here, Mortem, the Stone and its purpose to kill someone called the Viper, and how deities watched. He left out the gamer talk. "I didn't sense you. Hell, you weren't even there for most of it, but you did something. I felt that much."
Chika looked shocked for a moment then nodded.
 "Fine. I'll tell you. It's not like it's a big deal anyway."


During the boss fight….

Chika was ready to strangle Zeth when he dared to ensnare Clyde with his stupid challenge. She gritted her teeth, opening herself to the massive whirlwind of strength within. She'd end this quickly, save the young man the trouble so he could do whatever ridiculous thing that cat told him. 
Oh she hoped this was a trap. She wasn't a murderer and preferred a lot and a lot and A LOT of love, specifically love-making with Clyde, over violence, but she'd make an exception for Neko. She just needed an excuse.   
Abruptly, the silver-haired girl noticed a thin tendril of pulsing blue light leading out a door that wasn't there before. She knew she could ignore such a thing, help the others—destroy Zeth, but something felt wrong, off. She felt danger, danger for all of them. She couldn't explain the feeling, but the chills crawling down her spine lurched her into action. 

[Chika activated Brief hyper stealth.]

She disliked this skill, as it didn't work on powerful enemies or hyper-powerful sense of smells. This helped her sneak out of the ballroom, magically unnoticed by friend nor foe. 
She ended up darting down a hall, following the blue magic. She let go of the stealth, reacting to her urge to move faster. Faster!  Before it was too late. 
Oh, please let me make it in time, she thought.   
A second door appeared ahead, the blue spectral of magic oozing from beneath it. She placed a hand on the surface, closed her eyes and activated another rogue skill.

[Chika activated Peek.]

With this ability, she saw the room and the monsters inside.

[Chika activated Eavesdrop.]

Now that she could hear the conversation as well as see what was going on, she planned. There were three Lizard guards hastily unpacking what looked like large timer-bombs from crates. One guard song something disturbing to himself. 
 "If you can't kill, blow em up, blow em up. If your wife bakes a human pie, kiss her then eat the pie, la la la la blow em up, blow em up."
 "Crock's toe! Shut the fuck up ya dumb gecko," one of the other Lizard guards snarled. 
 "Oh you know you like the song. Blow em up, blow em up."
Chika deactivated Peek and Eavesdrop, pale. Zeth sat on his high horse as if he was some honorable warrior, meanwhile planning to just bomb them and half of the city. Strange…she didn't feel like this was an order he'd make. Why would his troops put their master in this kind of danger? They were pretty far to give a fair warning—not to mention the demon lord's daughter being among the chaos. 
Chika didn't have time to play detective with a bunch of scummy monsters. She burst through the door, armed with a dagger. 
The first Lizard guard looked at her as he fell backward, the blade poking out of his skull, blood spraying from the wound like a crimson fountain.  
"Crock's ass! Kill her," yelled an unseen voice. 
The two remaining guards obeyed the overseer, rushing the silver-haired girl. She leapt and landed on top of the closest monster with a single-handed handstand. A quick twist of its head downed it. 
The other guard paled, backing way.
 "Crock's ass, crock's toe, she's a monster."
Chika grinned, pink aura radiating around her like the aura of the su. Before the monster could take his next break, she had a second dagger, well a large kitchen knife, plunged into its throat.
A forth lizard guard wearing a red robe appeared. The overseer. He spoke with a voice that sounded like a man struggling with a heavy weight. 
 "Crock's toe, worm, I'll toast ya. You won't be stopping this operation."
Chika allowed her foresight to reveal the lizardman's nature. It showed a little information, but enough for her to keep in mind in case she needed answers later.

Lizard Wizard
Level: 26
Gist: lizard sorcerer monster that specializes in fire. 

Chika pulled out her last hidden dagger, sending it flying. The wizard thrusted a hand forward. A fireball leapt from its scaly palm, confronting the weapon, melting it. Exactly what the young woman wanted.

[Chika activated Source hunter.]

The lizard could only scream when she simply appeared in front of him, midair, her hands on his head. A hard twist instantly killed the pest. 

[Achievement earned: Defeat two or more enemies in a row using head twists! You go girl!]

 Source hunter was the young woman's newest skill, learned from raising her power level. Within a certain range, she could instantly teleport in front of anyone that used a weapon or casted magic. Source hunter also gave her a fifty percent boost for the next attack. 
After making sure there were no hidden guards, she left, deciding it was best not to disturb the bombs, just in case they were sensitive. Some powders reacted badly to air, according to a TV show she once watched. If the dimensional door didn't vanish, she'd simply call the cops. 



Present at Clyde's apartment….


All mouths were agape, eyes staring at the silver-haired young woman in wonder. Clyde feared and respected her. 
"Thanks for saving our lives," he said, honestly. "But…who could've set this up? Any idea, Alice?"
The demoness was frowning, eyes flashing with indignation. Chika nestled next to Clyde. 
 "I'm not sure," Alice said, "but I have a suspicion."
 "A suspicion? Who?" Harumi said.
 "I think my cousin knows who." She stood. "I…" She looked at the cake. "Well, after we finish eating—then I'll go."
Everyone burst into laughter.

Hey, guys.  I have some unpleasant news to discuss.

I first created this novel to enter a biweekly writing prompts contest hosted by Webnovel.  Starting three days late,  I felt that I didn't have time to create a proper outline for the novel so I hopped right in.  This has resulted in a myriad of problems popping up with regards to story progression and the overall quality of the book.

Now that I have a bit of time since the contest is over. I want to work on a few things before the novel gets too far along.  I'll mainly be outlining arcs, villains, power progression, character development, and reworking previous chapters so that they're grammatically better and easier to read.

I can not stress this next point enough.

THIS DOES NOT MEAN THAT THIS NOVEL WILL BE DROPPED. 

It's just that I'll be taking a break from this story to work on a few other projects that I've thought up.

As I gazed at the absurd chat before me I could only pray in my heart and ask again.  "System, what do want me to do again?"

"Host has 8 hours to apprehend the murderer known as Escape is Impossible before he successfully disposes of his victim's body.   Failure to do so will result in the termination of the host."

While Sukehime was stalling for time outside the Nether flame array, Inside it unlike the rest of the team James did not go back to practicing, Instead he was in a deep thought, this thought has been bugging him from the very beginning the team had entered the Terror world but rest of the team seem to have forgotten about this. With a frown on his face he was intently staring at the prompt logs of his status screen.

The prompt at which James was looking at was the one which appeared informing him about the scenario and main taskline. 

This prompt not only informed them about the Scenario and its Main taskline but it also Alerted them about Leon using the scenario search prop ' Nether Flame Fiends Bone fragment '. not only it alreated them about his betrayal but also about the consequence of using the Scenario search prop. 

The team is now facing two penalties for the usage of the Scenario Search prop. 

Penalty 1 : Scenario reward decreased by 10%

Penalty 2 : Explore by oneself

The first penalty is not that serious but still causes a huge loss to the team as the scenario clearing rewards are decreased by 10%. a 10% reduction may sound less but it is enough to decrease the grade of the reward by one level but at least it did not bring any risk or threat for the survival of the team or affect their main task. Even though James was not rich enough to ignore this penalty, he valued his life more. Therefore this penalty did not trouble James very much. 

The Second Penalty was tricky, Explore by oneself ? What do you even make of it? This penalty raised red flags in James's head. It was like the system was telling the team that it had hidden a landmine in the scenario and they had to be 20 times more careful than they are to avoid stepping on it.

Fortunately, this type of penalty was mentioned in one of the books of the school library. According to the predecessor's memories this kind of penalty is not new, previously Terror walker teams have faced this penalty for using different scenario props, but the success rate of clearing a main task with this penalty could not be calculated because of insufficient data. as only two teams ever made it out to report such a penalty. Even though these two teams made it out alive they had faced heavy casualties and deaths. The surviving members had to disband their team and join other teams.

Even though both teams faced the same penalty 'explore by oneself' they faced totally different enemies.  

The first team found out that one the character of the main task in their scenario was not who he claimed to be and he would kill one team member every night. unable to find out the culprit their team slowly fell apart with internal dispute. But fortunately they were able to finish the main task on the 4 day after the 3rd night, but by then they had already lost 3 team members. The remaining 2 team members after the completion of the Main task did not dare to spend an extra second in the Scenario and return to the earth. After submitting their completed task to World Terror they came to know how their comrade's died in the scenario summary prompt shown in their Status screen. 

The second Team faced a different type of an situation, their scenario main task was to join the main lead and stop a group of cult people from summoning the demon but when they were about to stop the cult people their penalty kicked in and their main task suddenly changed from joining the main lead and stopping a group of cult people from summoning the demon to Joining the cult people to successfully summoning the Demon and then slay the demon. Clearly the world terror wanted them to face the Demon as penalty. Inprocess of slaying the demon their team once again joined the Main Lead shamelessly and finally managed to kill the demon. But in this process they lost the strongest member and the medic of their team. Once they got back to earth they had to disband and join other teams because their team could not find a trustworthy Medic and damage dealer.

Either case would be a disaster for the team as they are very weak, anyone one of Sukehime or Hito or Masako could easily massacre the entire team without breaking a sweat. Clearly, the 2 penalty is a serious threat but the team could not do anything about it except be more alert. 

James wanted to tell the team about the 2 penalty at the beginning but then he decided against it because at that time the team was already at the brink of breaking apart under the pressure of the terror world and the fact that one of them betrayed them all. At that time telling them how serious the 2 penalty is, would be like dropping a bomb on an already demolished building.

With passing time even James had put this issue on the back of his head, but James noticed an unusuality a few moments ago which made him think of the 2nd penalty again. 

Fortunately this unusuality was also recorded in the prompt log of the status screen, proving that James' doubts were not unfounded. James scrolled through the prompts in the Status screen, the more he looked at these prompts the more confused he became.

These were the prompts James read when he got the 4 totems from Sukehime, then James scrolled down again and saw the prompts he received after taking the Vitality core from Masako.

Looking at both the prompts in the log James easily spotted where the unusuality was.

When he received the totems from Sukehime there was no mention of Sukehime in the prompt, this did not look suspicious it looked like a normal prompt but when you compare this to the Masako's prompt, it raises flags.

In the prompt received after taking vitality stone from Masako it clearly mentions that the vitality stone was given by NPC Masako. 

The system seemed to clearly identify Masako and her NPC status but for some reason it does not seem to identify Sukehime. Clearly it is a clue left by the prompt for them to explore the 2nd penalty. 

Though the clue did not clearly mention the penalty, it was clear that it had something to do with Sukehime and her Identity. 

Then James compared his current dilemma with what his predecessor had read in the school's library and came to a conclusion that what he was facing right now was somewhat similar to what team One from the book faced. 

According to Team one Survivors one of the Characters of the main task line was not who claimed to be and killed one team member from their team every night in their sleep, which they knew from the Scenario Summary in the Status screen. So, the Identity of one of the characters was false and he seemed to want to kill one member every night in their sleep. 

The Identity problem with one of the characters in the main task was similar to James's problem with Sukehime and her identity. As for the killing part, James thought Sukehime would not do such things as she can kill the entire team with a wave of her hand, but he still can't be sure because still 20 hours has not passed since the team has entered the Terror world therefore they never slept not giving the chance to Sukehime to kill them in their sleep.

After all the brainstorming even though James could not solve the mystery to why Sukehime's name did not appear in prompt but one thing was clear that Sukehime was not who she claimed to be and the team was in grave danger.

James wanted to alert the rest of the team but then thinking about their acting skills he decided not to do so because Sukehime knows that they are on to her will only hasten their demise. And also because even if the team knew about this they could nothing but panic adding to James' currency problems.

So James decided to improve his strength for now and see what sukehime as planned for them. Thick of increasing strength James thought of learning the four totems given dy Sukehime. 

James chose Elemental totem as he had attained a wind elemental Natural rune 'boundless wide' so it would be easier for him to master this totem first. Thinking that James used his Soul organ to connect with totem and make a copy of it.

"Now I don't know if you've read the story up to this point but I mean...come on. I'm not mad website on which this story is published in fact I just want to know who on your staff likes my story because that is badass." Not Mu said. 

"I don't know if this is normal or not but it's definitely cool," Not Mu stood up and ripped off his mask revealing himself to be the Author.

"I didn't want to make myself a body in this world because I didn't want Mu to be able to meet me, but I had to come down and say thank you I have had this story bumping around in my head for years and I just had to write it I didn't expect 10,000 people to find this concept as interesting as me." Fic Type: Oc
A Pokemon fic with the Mc in the game Fire-red. This fic doesn't try and expand the Pokemon world for logic, realism or whatever. So when I say he is in the game, he is in it with others acting like NPC's  and Oak seeming senile. It's hilarious to read and the Mc seems average and not any op aura master or any of that reincarnated cheat things.

Ben Stiller did not expect to find himself waking up inside the Pokemon Fire - Red game.  He also did not expect to find out how badly a game like this translates into real life!

What to expect:

- Some comedy, light, dark or otherwise whatever I feel like.
- Some interesting twists in the story as I personally play through the game for reference IRL :)
- Blue screens... maybe for the MC, definately not for you guys though :p
- I don't think there will be all that much in the way of romance, the MC is in the body of a 10 year old.
- Also, there won't really be any disturbing shit dispite what the cover might suggest.
- The MC is not overtly bad or a psycho or anything, but is a bit 'care-free'
- Honestly I just wanted to write something randomly for some stress relief!

Huh?

I had awoken to find myself in an eerie green void.  There was a man here saying something, I could barely understand.  The guy had some rather ugly brown balding hair and was wearing an even uglier purple shirt under his lab coat.

Lab coat!

How did I get here? Was I abducted!  Is this guy some mad scientist going to perform horrific experiments on me?

Or maybe I was abducted by aliens?

Either way this place is fucked up!  I'm standing on solid ground, yet it seems altogether ambiently and evenly illuminated across its flawless porous surface.  Above and all around me there is an endless void of a lighter shade of green.  

Round about this point I could feel my sanity giving way, this is a dream right?

Just a nightmare!

I'm going to wake up, and this will aaaaaall be a dream!

My legs feel shaky.  This feels strangely way too real to be a dream.  My head is thrumming with fear induced adrenaline, I can barely focus on anything.

Falling to my knees in panic, I had to take a moment to catch my breath, while the old man babbled on about something incessantly.  Hunched over clutching my now nauseous stomach, I could even less clearly make out or care about what he was saying. I did however somewhere faintly register a flash of light coming from his general direction, but was still in no condition to pay any attention.

He carried on mumbling to himself.  I carried on ignoring him, he didn't seem overly harmful.

After calming myself down enough to avoid a bloody panic attack,  I assessed my situation.

Hopefully this was all a dream, in which case, no harm I might as well roll with it.  If this is not a dream however, then I can't think of any answer beyond this being an alien abduction or some kind of matrix bullshit.  Either way I would need information.

Firming my resolve I finally let go of my stomach, got to my feet and faced the old man.

"Now tell me.  Are you a boy? Or are you a girl?"

Huh?

I stared at the man incredulously and slack-jawed.  What the heck kind of a question is that? Aliens. Definitely alien abduction!  Mildly alarmed I quickly looked myself over to make sure that something hadn't 'happened' to me.

Nope.

'Everything' seemed to be intact and accounted for.  I was wearing a pair of unbranded black sneakers, blue jeans, a red and white collared shirt with black sleeves and a red baseball cap.  I also seemed smaller somehow than what I remembered.

At least I wasn't naked and on an operating table, even if I did not recognise any of the clothes or remember how I came to be wearing them, which raised all kinds of alarm bells in and of itself.

The crazy scientist guy was still staring at me expectantly, waiting for an answer to his absurd question.

"You seriously can't tell whether I'm a guy or a girl?"

The scientist looked completely surprised by my reprisal.  After a brief moment of shock he looked genuinely uncomfortable and cleared his throat in an obviously fake manner.  "Uhm. Now that you mention it yes, I suppose it is rather obvious."  

He looked genuinely puzzled for a moment, before continuing on, "Let's begin with your name.  what is it?"

"Ben"  I answered simply, still very wary of the clearly senile man.

"Hmm. Yes.  Could you spell that out for me though?"

I could only give him a blank look.  "Dude, it's only three letters"

"Hmm.  Now that you mention it, I suppose that should be obvious."  Another perplexed expression on his face. "Apologies, I have no idea why I asked that, I just had this compelling feeling that I should get you to spell it out so that no one gets it wrong."

"Right"

"Strange, what a strange sensation.  It's like I'm expecting everyone to go around calling you out incorrectly if I did not get your name right.  What coul-" The old man continued to mumble is incoherrent senile thoughts to himself while I could do nothing but patiently wait for him to finish.

"Right! Anyway."  He finally snapped out of his musings.  "This is my grandson! He's been your rival since you were both babies."

A spot light suddenly illuminated someone in the corner of the room, nearly startling all the life out of me.  Holy fuck!

I kid, probably about ten years of age was now standing to one side.  He wore rather trendy clothes that suited him well, but more importantly he had incredible orange spiky hair, straight off of an anime MC's head.  How much fucking styling gel is needed to get it to stand like that! That is the hair of dreams!

"...Erm, what was his name now?"  The senile scientist once agian looked at me expectantly.

You're joking right?  How do you not know your own grandson's fucking name?  And I thought I had a dysfunctional family! What's worse is the grandson just stood there completely passively and apparently not even caring a bit about the insult that was just foisted upon him.

"Dude It's your grandson, you should know his name."

"Err, was it Gary?  That's right, it was Gary!"  The old man looked relieved somehow, but I could only facepalm.  Gary also seemed to blink out of existence at this point, which although it probably should greatly alarm me, wasn't even surprising me anymore.

"Ben!  Your very own pokemon legend is about to unfold!"  

I'm sorry, my what now!

"A world of dreams and adventures with pokemon awaits you!"  He exclaimed grandiosly.

"Let's go!"

And then the world went dark.  Before I could even finish processing what this clown was saying.

 

 

I woke up in bed.

Rubbing the sleep out of my eyes, I sat up.  A dream huh? That makes way too much sense.

I slumbered out of the comfortable soft bed and landed on my feet.  I was suddenly struck with a feeling of vertigo. I instinctively knew something was wrong.  For one, it had taken way too long for my feet to reach the ground. Was my bed suddenly higher?

Looking down I was instantly back in panic mode!  Not only had I gone to sleep wearing clothes, even a baseball cap, but rather those clothes I had just been dreaming about!

Was I still dreaming?  Or maybe I'd truly gone insane.

I looked about 'my' room.  It wasn't my room anymore.  

There were two windows to my right looking out into what appeared to be some kind of forest scenery.  The room had ugly beige wallpapered walls, a floor made of not very nice looking tatami mats and an even uglier green rug in the middle of it all.  Who the heck decorated this place? They need to get their heads examined!

To the one side of the room was a bookshelf, a dresser and a desk with an ancient looking PC on it, featuring a good old CRT monitor.  In the center of the room for some reason was a CRT TV and a good old fashioned NES gaming console.

Aside from clearly being transported back in time here, setting that aside, that mad scientist's words were stuck in my head.  Something about my pokemon adventure. Was I having a pokemon dream?

I went over to the computer and after turning it on, found it had a strange textual interface with only three options on it.  Item storage, Mailbox and Turn off.  

Even though it had been a long time since I had played the original pokemon games, I recognised these prompts.

->'Item storage'.

->'Withdraw item'.

And there it was: Potion x 1

Curios, I withdrew it and noticed a slight increase in the weight of my back pack.

Wait! I'm wearing a backpack, when did that get there!

I immediately took off the ugly yellow backpack and found a corked purple potion bottle inside.

Coupled with the mad scientist's words, it was official.  I was inside a dream about a pokemon game.

I stood there a moment, pondering my next move.  I was probably in a dream after all. Either that or some matrix bullshit.  Either way, there was nothing else to do really but play along. Maybe even have some fun while I'm at it.

My decision was made, I left my room, the exit being a set of stairs for some reason that led to the ground floor of the house.  

Upon arrival I was greeted with yet more tacky decor in the same horrendous style as my bedroom.  The ground floor was also a single room, a combination of kitchen, lounge and dining room, as far as I could tell.  

There was an ugly blue and white checkered table with blue chairs arranged around it on the center of the ugly green mat.  Aside from the occasional pot plant, the only other things in the room were a kitchen surface, display cabinet, trash can, another CRT TV and of course, if memory serves me correctly, my mom.

A fairly young and extremely pretty blue haired woman was sitting in one of the chairs at the dining table.  She was wearing a red dress with yellow sleeves. Despite the absurdly ugly outfit the gorgeous girl still managed to radiate a natural beauty.

I'm just saying, If you weren't my in-game mom and I was not stuck in what seemed to be a ten year old body…  things could happen here!

Approaching my mother, she began to speak.

"Right… All boys leave the home some today.  It said so on TV."

Okaaaaay.  That was weird.  And at least not a little bit wrong and disturbing in a number of ways.

"Oh yes.  Professor Oak, next door, was looking for you."  She gave me a brilliant and beautiful smile.

So setting aside that you want to kick your ten year old son out of the house and essentially want him to go off and fight monsters, I guess I'm off to see the wizard of oz then.

Approaching the front door, I looked back at the still smiling women one more time before leaving.  I smiled to myself mischievously, one day girl. One day!
