The winner of my prompt was a book that is now on hiatus. No other entries qualified. At the time I didn't realize that having votes was the rank qualifier. So my book was instantly disqualified.
Despite not making it past the car park, so to speak, I kept this story going. I had moved it to Wattpad and continued to post chapters there.
I entered it into a Wattpad community award, and had eventually won the award for Historical Fiction, but never received the prize for it. 😆
That's okay. Knowing that my writing was enough to be a winner in a judge's eyes was cool. It won over some quality stories as well. That was a prize enough for me.
After some time, I started posting the story to Tapread where it picked up read interest there. Then I got a ping from Islinda who liked the lone chapter I had left on the book page.  
This story has been a blast to write. I'm proud of what I've been able to achieve with it. I have no regrets of what I leave behind, as I have given my best shot.

Guys I made this story to join from contest I previous Writing Prompts Contest 123: Female Lead - Werewolf Sighted on Campus! But now it's already end and I think I don't make make it. Hey, guys.  I have some unpleasant news to discuss.

I first created this novel to enter a biweekly writing prompts contest hosted by Webnovel.  Starting three days late,  I felt that I didn't have time to create a proper outline for the novel so I hopped right in.  This has resulted in a myriad of problems popping up with regards to story progression and the overall quality of the book.

Now that I have a bit of time since the contest is over. I want to work on a few things before the novel gets too far along.  I'll mainly be outlining arcs, villains, power progression, character development, and reworking previous chapters so that they're grammatically better and easier to read.

I can not stress this next point enough.

THIS DOES NOT MEAN THAT THIS NOVEL WILL BE DROPPED. 

It's just that I'll be taking a break from this story to work on a few other projects that I've thought up.

As I gazed at the absurd chat before me I could only pray in my heart and ask again.  "System, what do want me to do again?"

"Host has 8 hours to apprehend the murderer known as Escape is Impossible before he successfully disposes of his victim's body.   Failure to do so will result in the termination of the host."

"I don't know but I'm scared," Mu said licking the sea salt off his lips.

;)What are you hungry you want to eat them, why the fuck are you licking your lips.

"Because they're chapped," Mu said furiously giving his lips some tongue.

;)Stop that it's weird even the fucking mutants are getting creeped out.

"I'm trying to get them to accept me," Mu thought to the voice not stopping his voracious tongue movement on his lips.

"What it's what I'm doing," Mu said while juggling his saliva across his lips.

"Oh I guess I'll stop then," Mu said resting his tongue back into it's wet lair called the mouth.

In another part of the universe another Mu was sitting down beside a fire with a monocle in his eye.

"Hahaha I'm not Mu, Author I am simply a forgotten segment or some shit being used here to talk about something." The Not Mu said.

The Not Mu got a book from a shelf and looked directly at the Author watching him.

"It has come to my attention that a certain website on which our book is published has made a new writing prompt competition." The Not Mu said while opening the book he got out.

"It is titled "Writing Prompts Contest 116: Male Lead - Entertainer in Another World", now this in itself is not the coolest part. The best part is in the ideas section where it says,"1) A former world-class singer wakes up in a world filled with fantastical beings and magic. They soon find out that their voice and songs are magical in nature in this new world where bards exist. How will they make use of this? How will this world respond to their power?"Not Mu said and after he was done he closed up the book and looked right at the readers.

"Now I don't know if you've read the story up to this point but I mean...come on. I'm not mad website on which this story is published in fact I just want to know who on your staff likes my story because that is badass." Not Mu said. 

"I don't know if this is normal or not but it's definitely cool," Not Mu stood up and ripped off his mask revealing himself to be the Author.

"I didn't want to make myself a body in this world because I didn't want Mu to be able to meet me, but I had to come down and say thank you I have had this story bumping around in my head for years and I just had to write it I didn't expect 10,000 people to find this concept as interesting as me." I wiped a tear away from my eye and said," This may not sound like a lot to some people but that's more people then I have in my city (I think). So thank you." Author signing out.

[Albert's Point of View]

A ragged and sooty Albert rolled on the snow; finally having exhausted the fiery homing pigeons mana supply. He, too, was exhausted from avoiding the pursuit of the tracking spells

He held Sam's animal hide bag; newly bought from Lyon (on Khadir's expense - again...); the half-grown kitten-cat tucked safely inside - eyes spinning from the rolling and romping flight of the athletic man.

(What kind of cat is this...??) He felt more and more stumped at the nature of the "cat" - since he met Sam; its ears, tail and snout were becoming progressively more dog-like... Then he voiced out his thoughts tot he cat. "Maybe I should call you a "colf"? "Coolf"?... Cat-Wolf...? Or a "wat"? Hahaha!!--"

Snowie pranced over on her soft black paws and bit his face.

After thrashing around on the snow for awhile and prying the death-trap off his face; he rubbed the teeth marks around his skin and planned the next steps.

(Her overall power is still lower - but I was wrong... Despite her lack of experience; she took the initiative and turned the entire battle around in one fell swoop. That; and they were already worn-out from the earlier battle...)

His eyes lit up; a mischievous grin on his face; but a serious air still in his aura. (Now... I hope things work out all according to plan... I just need to make sure our "negotiations" go smoothly for the right result...)

He whistled merrily; accidentally stepping on Snowie who ran into his path; then yelped in pain as he gained a new accessory; Sam's perennial adornment - a cat-as-a-hat.

[Sam's Point of View]

Sam was breathing heavily.

She stood before a mess - scattered pieces of flesh and pools of reddened snow. Bone fragments; some long as her palm, some as big as her forearm.

The 3 maids were incapacitated; Xera unconscious with both her nails snapped and an arm missing; Tina presumably dead in her shriveled up state (like a dried, salted fish) - but the worst off was the mage Tara. All that remained of her was smashed-up chunks of meat - a fate rendered unto her by her own sister.

Sam turned to survey her surroundings; and laid eyes on the 5-year old girl, silver-haired and adorable despite her wounds, kneeling beside the towering body of her mother.

The tiny girl had a grit and tenacity that surprised Sam - as well as Albert and Snowie; the man and his hat-cat just arrived at the scene. She had received multiple puncture wounds from her mother's teeth; before being beaten up and stepped on harshly by the party of 4 vampires.

But right now, ignoring her wounds, she kneeled; head bowed before her mother's fallen head.

She looked up, and upon seeing the first rays of dawn break through the far-off eastern horizon, she breathed in a deep breath; let it out and sucked in a lungful of air again.

And then she sang.

It started solemn; mourning. The words could not be understood by either Sam or Albert (or Snowie), and yet, tears came, unbidden.

It was a song that spoke without words; that spoke of the hurts and memories - of loss, of sorrows, of hopes dashed by the cruelties of life.

And then her voice rose two keys; gaining in volume as well as she began to stand with her song.

Magical; enchanting; beautiful; other-worldly.

Was this the song of the dragons? So beautiful; and yet so... Sad?

What had started as a low, slow and depressing melody now rose in force; her voice rising once more as the key changed from the somber minor-key to a jubilant major.

And then it was a song of rejoicing. Of dreams; of believing despite the darkness... Of hope.

Of family... Of love... Of a mother; lost.

The enrapturing melody slowly trickled off; the last notes ending in tension - not closing off.

As if; the song had not reached its end - just as the story of a life was still not finished... As if it were an end; but not an end. As if the journey and fables were only... Starting anew.

For every new beginning; could only from another beginnings end.

The man and girl stood; stationary - introspecting and re-examining everything they had been living for.

The man closed his eyes; banished his melancholy and steeled his heart - his path was not his own; but one for the sake of all mortals. He... Could not steer this ship off the course; not at this point. And... It was for the greater good of all; not just his own people or his own faction. For everyone.

The girl blinked and winked away the tears; rolling out of her eyes and landing on the red-tinged snow below. She... Wasn't very good at this thinking thing. Nor was she good at her feelings.

But she felt something... Different since she chose to help this needy child.

She felt richer - though she was still penniless.

She felt complete - though she was bleeding in various places.

She felt... Happy. Despite not having a mama of her own... She felt happy.

Misharga was silently kneeling before the body of her mother. Her hands were clasped together; chin bowed and silently waiting.

Sam and Albert waited with her quietly; reluctant to spoil the magical moment; and to allow the young child to finish her grieving process.

After awhile, Sam began sniffing.

She hadn't noticed it earlier due to the smell of the delicious blood the vampire princess had shed. But even *she* had her limits - it was way too revolting to lick up the soiled snow along with the blood... If she hadn't already been stepping around on it, then just maybe she would though...

No, what she smelled was not the blood - that smell was beginning to fade.

She smelled something... Meatier. Something... Juicier. More substantial.

It was definitely not on the same level of richness and flavour as the spoiled brat she had smashed into a meat patty.

(But it still smells good...)

Grrr... She felt her stomach grumbling; complaining of hunger...

But... But...

There was no way she could eat a grieving girl's mother right in front of her; right...?

Right...?

Sam's mouth watered... As Albert stared at her in horror.

In the end, Sam listened to her sense of rationality and decided not to further scar the poor little girl by tearing apart the body of the dead dragon to chew on it.

Albert released a sigh of relief when he realised that she had wiped away her saliva and did not seem likely to take action.

(I'll wait until the body is buried; or after the kid leaves...) She swallowed her saliva inside her mouth.

"???"

As the full rays of sunlight creeped over the mountain range; and the first beam of light touched the adult dragon's body, something startling occurred.

The body began to shrink, releasing a sizzling sound like bacon frying - despite there being no change in its temperature.

(What-What is going on?) Even Albert in his hundreds of years of life had not witnessed the young of a dragon paying last respects to their kin! (It must be a unique, hidden ritual of the dragons passed down in their bloodline memories! Exceptional! Exquisite! Truly a top-class bloodline!)

Albert beamed from ear to ear; despite whatever differences of opinion he had with the dragon race, he was excited to discover something as of yet unknown outside of the dragon race!

(This could be a world-shaking secret of why there are almost no dragon corpses in nature! And here we thought there were immense dragon bone graveyards!) Albert was almost hopping in excitement as he waited to see the outcome.

(Mmm... Dragon bacon...) Sam was obviously not thinking of something so complicated; she only had food on her mind.

Within 30 seconds, Kreagor, the adult dragon had shrunk to Sam's size - but it didn't end there.

The body began to shrink further, until it was about the size of Misharga's forearm.

And then Misharga picked the body up; her lips moving in a silent prayer for the faith departed.

"Sam, Sam!"

"What?!" She was irritable, impatient and worried that her raw materials for a meal were becoming smaller and smaller.

"Do you know how big of a discovery this is...?!?"

"I just know it's really small."

"No no no no!!! It's not small at all! It's big; so big!"

"Are you blind!" She blurted out in his face; still trying to keep her voice down and not interrupt the girl. "In what way is that big anymore?!?"

"Look! This has got to be a unique ritual in which the young receive the blessings of--"

Gulp!

Albert stopped in mid sentence.

Sam's jaw dropped; a trickle of saliva falling... Then drying up.

Misharga had swallowed her mother's body in one bite.

(!!!!!!!!) Sam was shocked, upset, aghast, stunned, astounded, amazed, appalled, astonished, dismayed, offended [Author's note: I ran out of words].

There was someone who ate faster than her?!?!?!

"At least leave some for me!!!"

Alright, boy-ohs and girlies, I've tried my best, I really have, but writing is way harder than I could have ever imagined. I'm at 216 chapter, 218 if you count *******, and about 90-95% of the story has been written without much consideration for outlining. A while ago, I started a wiki for the novel to try to keep track of everything and only now am I starting to understand the magnitude of the mistakes I've made writing up to this point.

Anyway, the announcement this time is to let you know that my writing pace hasn't simply slowed. I'm just taking the majority of my time chronicling everything that's happened and will happen and thinking up solutions to the problems that I've detected in the logic of the story; or plotholes. I'll probably take a while and until I'm confident in where the story will head, I'll continue putting out a depressingly low number of chapters every week.

It feels wrong to not say anything and even worse keeping my ******* collecting despite the obvious downgrade to my writing speed. So, despite my obvious bias in wanting to keep Patreons, I'd caution everyone supporting me to only continue doing so if you're fine with the current situation. Webnovel, Royalroad and my ******* all keep publishing dates on the chapters I release, so you can keep track of my writing speed by looking there; until you feel it's worth it, reconsider wasting your time or money during these unstable times. I probably should have made this announcement sooner, considering the downgrade to my writing speed has been around for a month's worth of time, so I apologize.

I'll be putting out chapters when I can, but the majority of my focus right now is revisiting already published chapters, touching them up and documenting whatever I can in the novel's wiki page. Anyone wondering where I'm at can check the wiki page and even contribute if they're bored enough. That is all for now~

UPDATE (December 29th, 2019)
Alright, I'm about to get really real and admit to being a really shitty author these last three to four months. Truth be told, I really did want to take time to update the wiki and figure out how to handle what I thought were this novel's biggest failings in plot holes. However, to do that and find details that might have only been mentioned in passing, I had to eventually turn to rereading entire chapters.

Guys... I'm being as sincere as I possibly can right now. I have no fucking clue how I've developed a following after rereading the first couple chapters. I understand that authors can grow a lot after a year, but it hasn't even been that long and I believe the first hundred chapters are Trash with a capital T. It's borderline unreadable (upon proofreading this tirade, this might be a mild exaggeration, but it is true to my thoughts nonetheless) and the fact that I have nearly 4,000 followers after combining the collections on Webnovel with those following on RoyalRoad is incomprehensible to me. There are still even 19 people supporting me on ******* when I haven't released squat in nearly two months!

I've tried to ignore this. I've tried to work on other books. Hell I've even messed around with fanfiction, hoping to one day wake up and see everyone gone. Like the book had never existed. But like I said, there are still 4,000 people waiting for releases. More joining by the day and people still supporting the novel with spirits stones. Even 19 who value two chapters being at least a dollar.

Every time I think I'm ready to move on, ready to completely shut down the novel to start a new one, I think about those people and realize, "I'm a fucking bitch. Just finish the fucking novel, idiot." The passing of time has only made the feeling worse, so I guess this is a message consigning myself to completing this book, by any means necessary. I won't be able to focus on another story otherwise, so this update is more for me than for my audience.

That being said, the reason I felt inclined to give up on the novel in the first place was because of how terrible I found my writing from a nearly a year ago. So, I want to stress that I'm not going chuck a bunch of shit together to finish the story. Rather, I'm going to go back and rewrite things as I continue to catalogue things on the wiki.

Last couple things I want to quickly mention:

- I haven't really used any of the money I've made on ******* so I want to commission a legit book cover. Ditch that shit I made with my lacking Photoshop Skills...

-More on the money thing, after I finish rewriting the novel — it'll mostly be editing details that make the book seem less like it was written by an amateur, so the story progression won't at all change — I plan on also hiring people to format Book 1 and eventually Book 2 into legit e-reader and paperback formats. I know, I know...

"Greedy author, have you no shame?" 

Honestly, I want to follow pirate aba's style of keeping everything free, and I will. I'm not going to enter a contract with Webnovel or paywall chapters through kindle. However, for the people who for whatever reason want to have a kindle or physical copy of this (current dumpster fire of a) novel, I want it to at least be possible. There's also the benefit of gaining new readers through Amazon this way which is always a plus. 

Like the G.O.A.T. pirate aba — check out her (I think it's a her) book The Wandering Inn — I'll keep all the chapters on Webnovel and Royalroad free. Though the ******* thing will still be in effect at least until I finish the series or whatever.

-Since I'm rewriting the novel for the most part, I'll make more announcements as I continue updating the novel; meaning adding on to the story (Chapter 219, 220, etc...)

Unless it becomes too annoying and people request against it, I'll be adding "Revised" to Chapters that have been, well... revised.

-I'm going to be having some polls on RoyalRoad on a couple important things as I start getting back into the grind of updating this novel.

Namely: Should I change the name of the novel? If so, to what? What would you guys like the book cover to look like? Should I change the name of the Books/Arcs?

Whelp, I guess this is the end (for now at least). I remember back two months ago when I was writing my first work, the fanfic for Chojusen, I said something along the lines of  "I want to be known as the dumb dumb Author who finishes his novels and doesn't quit just because he "fell off..." And as I reflect on the decision I'm making right flipping now, I'm just as disappointed in myself as you guys. It's just, I'm not quitting because I fell off, rather, my lack of taking off in the first place is what's destroying what little motivation I have for writing this novel.

I don't know if you can understand what it's like to watch as the days go by and your work never makes any progress. What it's like to see other novels take off while yours is abandoned. Now, hopefully I don't offend any other authors on the site with words like the ones I'm throwing around right now, if your novel has taken off its more likely than not that you are competent as a writer and your work is deserving of its attention. I'm probably just coming off as a whiny bitch for being unsuccessful in my first venture as an original writer and to an extent, even I agree with that sentiment. It's just, I what to express myself in as open a manner as can be and realizing my frustrations through writing like this is what I feel helps.

I'm pretty sure I contributed in a large part to why my novel is so unpopular. I mean I started off with a message to everyone that it wouldn't be updating for a while and even after coming back I had to take another stop to go to Cuba. I give my own novels sub par review scores and even admit that I have no confidence in them. To anyone with even a modicum of logic, these are red flags and I'm not surprised that many people have turned away from reading.

However, for the last two or so months I've released almost 200,000 words and 112 chapters. And for the better part of those two months It's felt like I've been writing for no one. Sure the view counts update by the everyday and my collections count increase as well. But it's truly depressing to see only three or four comments per chapter; even though they are extremely appreciated. Honestly, if it weren't for the two or three people a see coming back every day — even if it is just to say "thanks for the chapter" — I wouldn't have made it for this long.

Even back when I was writing the other novel, where I would get things about the canonical story wrong or when I made a decision that didn't sit right with some of the readers, getting mean/harsh comments would be infinitely better for my motivation — and I'm assuming other authors as well — than just silence.

Well, that's enough of that nonsense so here's what I've decided to do. Writing this novel, even before I began publishing, is grating as I feel no confidence in my skills as an author and that has only further declined with how little interest the novel has amassed over the two months. It's gotten to the point where I literally write to meet the quota I set up for myself of 1 chapter a day and for bonus opportunities like power stone incentives. (Wait this is still rambling! Sorry...)

Anyways, the problem with motivation is more impactful than you guys can imagine as I literally know what to write next and how the story should progress, but just sitting before my computer and trying to type for what I've already doomed to failure causes distractions to magically manifest; like when you have homework and just so happen to find a dozen videos you'd much rather watch than do your duty. 

Thus, I'm deciding to not "drop" the novel and only put it on hiatus for now. Maybe if I become less whiny in the future and my career as an writer doesn't tank, I'll return to continue updating the story… But for now, I think I'll move on to enter in the webnovel weekly contests and write stories that gain an actual audience. If all else fails, I can somewhat confidently say that I'll return to this story eventually as I'm done with its outline and whatnot. The only thing I ask of you is to forgive me for wasting your time like so many other authors who don't finish their work and to remember that I'll eventually come back to finish what I started; maybe not now or in a year but eventually, I'll come to finish this story… 

P.S. I'll be writing under another pseudonym for a while, else the bad reputation I just created might come to haunt me if I do get successful. So, if you're still a "fan" of either me or this story, sorry you won't be able to find what I'm working on for now… (The characters I write might be dense and stupid, but I think this shameless move is the most pragmatic.)

Don't forget to delete your old reviews and give this novel new 1 star reviews. Though I'm shameless and cowardly, I'd rather not waste other people's time; at least not now that I'm discontinuing production for this novel. But... have some fun with the 1 star reviews, like call me misogynistic and transphobic (you'd know why if you read all the chapters). If anything, we can make my action of quitting, a fun little game, and upvote the most satirically on point roast.

Follow the adventures of a boy named Jam on his journey to gain a purpose. Thrust onto the world of cultivation because of the silly encouragement of his foster grandmother and his ridiculously one-track-minded self, Jam's adventure is bound to be full of action, comedy, and self discovery. Hopefully, his stupidity will be cured before it affects his life too badly.

Here's my cringy first attempt at a hook, so let me be more straightforward with what this will turn out to be~

A "dense" MC in all the wrong ways, who's OPness brings Xianxia protagonists to shame.

Some wacky situations that exploit the density and idiocy of the MC, which will inevitably shape his future self.

A band of overpowered companions that follow Jam in his journey to find purpose, with only a single love interest (for now, and probably forever~)

Someone asked me recently if I was going to come back and finish this. I honestly don't know, because I don't like how I've developed the story, the whole world and Hateshi thing started off sounding cool to me but as I continued, it just made me not enjoy writing as much. Though part of why I wrote it in the first place was because the original chapter 16 had an overall pretty negative review from the readers. So in order to keep things interesting and engaging, I rewrote chapter 16 and thus the character Hateshi was born along with all the other crap. Then things seemed to ge going well for awhile until the fight with Orochimaru came along, and that's when things took a turn for the worst for me. I really hated writing the plot, but I was still forcing myself to write in order to finish what I'd started.

In the end, I wrote myself to the point of exhaustion and no more ideas were coming to me and I started forcing the story's pacing. I'm sure all of my readers could tell. Then I stopped writing. I do want to come back and write, and I want to finish this story that I started on a whim. But I really don't know where to begin to make this good again. Part of me thinks I should go back and redo a lot of it, that way I can feel happy with the story as a whole. But I dunno, I am curious about what you guys will have to say if and when you read this. Sorry it's not another chapter though, anyway, peace! ✌

Naruto and Sasuke had their final battle. The world was saved, but it looks like they wouldn't make it this time. At least he had no regrets left.... except, he never did achieve his dream of becoming Hokage... his vision slowly became clouded as everything faded to black.

Next thing he knows he's waking up in bed.
