There's a myth in the human world that when a snake turns a hundred years old, he/she turns into a half-human. They can shift on their own will and marry a human if they wish to. 

People have adopted this idea for various fiction works including movies, however, no one ever has been able to provide the proof of certainty. Despite all these works of fiction, it's the same thing, a myth.

In our snake realm though, it's a different story. We do become half-humans upon turning 100 years old. But the chances are scarce. Normal snakes don't have intellectual abilities nor do they know anything about this rule. With their little ability to understand situations and weak defense, most of the snakes die at an average age of 15. It's only after a snake turns 50 that he's allowed to enter the Universal Library of Serpents. And given the ability to survive, it's mostly the snakes from power families that make it to their 50th birthday. 

We're allowed to enter the library once our intelligence is unlocked and it's when we get to read the secrets of survival. Most of the snakes spend their 2nd arc of fifty years underground in order to increase the chances of their survival till their 100th birthday. 

The rule has been the same for ages until an exception took place. This exception we're talking about is me. Coming from the most powerful family, I was able to shift at the age of 80. It didn't come out as shocking as the strange fact that my human body had an imprint of a girl on my right arm. 

It looked like what you call a tattoo in your world. Starting from my shoulder to elbow, it was a portrait of a girl in her early twenties.
On a cute little face, she had big round eyes with a cute little nose, perfectly arched and lightly plump lips. On her head, there was a floral crown with loose strands falling around her face. And finally, a simple pendant hanging from her neck. I couldn't see it's color but it was an oval-shaped gem.

She looked.... Cute, I guess. But the problem was that we didn't have much information on our hands as to why it happened. After going through the whole library with the help of an elder, I finally found a book of prophecies. As I discovered a shocking prophecy, I came to know that the girl tattooed on my arm was my mate. A human mate.

First of all, I actually plan to write a novel on this idea but since I'm currently busy with my final year at university, I decided to postpone it for some time. However, I've been itching to write something down so I'm going to write a short story first. 

I'm not going to make it complex and simply write in the manner of a tale i.e. narrate from start to end.

First, I'm a devout Catholic, though I differ with my Church on several of its pronouncements about sex. I believe that God gave us our sexual natures and desires as a tool by which we can propagate our species, bond with one another, and make one another happy. Though sex can be misused and abused, it's no more inherently evil than anything else people might do with their bodies. All the same, I hold that sex must not be used to assert power over another, nor to wound, betray, nor punish. If there is joy, the desire to give as well as receive pleasure, and the willingness to accept the consequences in their entirety, sex is no more sinful than watching television...and a lot more fun, especially considering some of the crap that pours out of the idiot box these days. (Sitcoms! Sheesh!)

Second: I'll allow that sometimes I write rather formally, sometimes even archaically. Partly that's because I'm wiser than my age, educated at a time of greater formality about the English language and its use, but mostly it's because I prefer that kind of diction to the looser and more colloquial form that's prevalent today. "You pays your money and you takes your choice." And no, I do not have a broom handle up my ass.

Third, I write on many subjects, including software engineering, management, politics, philosophy, religion and matters of faith. My fiction spans fantasy, science fiction, contemporary suspense, political intrigue, romance, and even a little humor. If you like the stuff I'm posting here, you're likely to enjoy some of the other stuff too, nearly all of which is available on line. Yes, I'm going to shamelessly promote my other books, which by the way are still not on Webnovel.

How can you lose something you never have?

I was born without love, my mother is a mistress of an old politician. She wants attention, she wants money so i became a collateral in her schemes to became my father's second wife.

How would you react when the person who suppose to love and care you the most makes your life a living hell?

The beating starts when I'm just four years old, she could pinch my ear or my arm. The more i grow up, the more she would beat me, when I'm twelve years old my whole body is black and blue to the bruised i recieve from her. She would beat everytime—the smallest scraping sound when i move my chair; one slap. The clicking of the silverware on my plate; comes another one. When i talk to her in a loud voice; a spank. When in a quite voice; she would be angry and then came her fist.— She would punish me for something i don't have any control off, heck i even start to think that she beats me just for the fun of it.

What would your reaction be when you realize she beats you then blatantly lie when someone ask about the bruise?

My mother would always lie that the reason I'm like this is because I'm a clumsy child. She would keep saying that she is just a klutz and her skin is easily bruised. I guess my skin does bruised easily, a pale skin white as a paper. All off them brush it off when mother explains to them, sometimes i could see in there eyes that they don't quite believe my mother but well why would they be concern about me anyway when even my parents doesn't care about me? My father just doesn't care about me, he could just say some superficial words of concern when he sees my bruised and other than that, then nothing.

The beating stops when i reach my eighteen years of age. Then it seems like everyone forgotten my existence, but i like it, do now have a peace and quite moment where i don't have to always on the look out to my mother when she came to beat me up when she is in a wrong mode. When I graduated on high school—home schooled style. I became addicted to reading. The library is full of non fiction works and when i finished reading it all, i started to read the fictional one, fiction where we can have magic powers, where beautiful womans go to the ball or some sort of celebration wishing and wanting that the prince or the handsome leading man would love her, care for her and swipe her right under her feet and dance all the way to their happily ever after.

What is love?

What is care?

What is even a want?

For me, i don't dare to want, i don't dare to wish, because when you have nothing, then you have nothing to lose.

My peaceful days disrupted when my father called me to go in his study, where in there everybody is in—my mother, my fathers first wife, my step-sister and step-brother.

I have a bad feelings about this meeting but i stays silent and look for a chair to sit to.

A pants, shirts and other article of clothing are currently in askew on sydneys bed. Maids keep going to the walk in closet, getting stuffs and putting it on the luggages on the floor.

"A fiance?" mutters sydney to herself before looking at her room.

How she so wants to just run, go away and forget everything but she knows that she can't. Her father would surely find her and when he does, she doesn't want to know the punishment she would recieve.

"well, i guess it's not that bad" i can finally leave here, if her fiance would not forbid her, she likes to learn how to bake pastries and cook foods. "i just have to be positive, if worse came to worse then i can still read some books"

"maam, do you want to bring your books with you? Should we pack it for you maam?" rose one of the maids ask inclining her head to where the book case is built by.

I nodded before going to the book case.

"I can't possibly bring them all so i would just bring my favourite ones so i do needed your assistance."

Before noon, all of my stuffs are pack, luggages and cartoon boxes are already in the front yard ready to be sent out. My father is currently talking to my husband to be in his office. He come in one hour ago but i haven't even seen his face yet so I'm kind of curious, the maid said the his name is Adam Williams, a filthy rich CEO who start his own business when he is a teenager. He bacame successful that he dominate the electronic industries, a businessman savvy who know what he is doing despite his tender age of 25. When they are talking about him, they make it so that he looks perfect, a gentleman, philanthropist and most importantly a very handsome man.

When i heard that, i became curious that why would he wants to marry me, then father says that the marriage arrangement are done by our grandparents thinking that someday one of there grandson and granddaughter whould wed and make them became one family. In fact they just want one of their grandchildren to be wedded that they don't even put names and just put the arrangement in there children's lap hoping that they would fullfill it. 

Against the water falling in the fountain in front of our house, i can hear a footsep coming by, I guess that's my fiance so i decided to face him to look at the "perfect specimen" that the woman in the house keeps talking about.

How can you lose something you never have?

But when you do have something to lose, how far whould one go to keep it?

I can't afford to lose you.

So if my heart going black as ink keeps you by my side, then so be it!

Jack Chastain was a typical 15-year-old high-school teenager... pretty average grades, a few friends, and conflicts with parents. There was nothing special about his life back then...

His main hobby was reading comic books and watching superhero movies as he used to spend most of his free time on these things. He was truly inspired by the actions of fictional characters and always wanted to become a superhero himself. Although he had a weak body and was constantly being made fun of at school by the bullies, he had a big heart and never surrendered. However, his courage sometimes leads to him having lots of injuries after getting beaten up by senior students.

The last time this happened was when he tried to defend one of his friends. Jude, the captain of the schools' football team was humiliating him in front of all of the students at a launch hall. Jack crept up to Jude from behind and hit him on the head with an elbow...

Jude fell down... there was complete silence in the hall as everyone was shocked that a kid nobody expected anything from dared to hit the schools' main man... even after all the serious injuries he'd endured, Jack did not surrender and had a strong will power.

Later that day, when he was returning home by bike, he was constantly thinking about what he had just done. He felt like he was a real superhero who managed to defeat a strong villain who was treating many students badly.

But... when Jack was in the middle of a crossroad a car hit him from the left at a high speed and Jack fell down with his head hitting the ground very hard and eventually started to bleed. 

It was a thief who did not stop when the traffic light was red because the police were following him. 

The last thing Jack saw in his life were police cars that were following the car thief...

"Where am I?" said Jack. There was nothing around him and it seemed like he was levitating in emptiness.

"You are in 'under heaven', a place where all of the young souls go before their future destiny is identified" said someone from the top... It was God...

Jack understood that his life had ended... at such a young age and with so many ambitions... 

He could not control himself and started crying.

"No..." he started crying. "Why did this happen now? During one of the best days of my life, I just had a turning point..."

God was able to see that Jack's soul was clean, that he wanted to protect the weak, and was always ready to help his friends... 

"It is rare to witness a person with such good intentions and ambitions nowadays" God said.

So, after a few minutes of thinking he said...

"I will let destiny make the final decision," God said.

"What does that mean?" Jack whispered.

Suddenly, a big golden coin appeared in God's hands. There were wings on one side and a skull on the other.

"Wings mean reincarnation, skull means death" God said, before tossing a coin...

"Wings... I guess destiny has the same opinion on you"

"Wait!" Jack shouted... he remembered how much he had suffered in the real world and did not want to experience that one more time. So, he said...

"I want to reincarnate in a fictional world... Can you send me to the comic world, please?" said Jack with a lot of hope in his words.

"I can, but... you have to know that there is no way back... and that you will not be able to return to the real world. Are you sure about this?"

"Yes!" Jack said confidently.

After that God came closer to Jack and pushed his forehead with his thumb...

Jake felt a strong pain in his head, as he woke up because of an alarm.

"Oh my god… that was just a dream" he said, before he understood that he was in an unfamiliar room… It was a small room that was full of superhero posters on walls, just like in Jack's room.
"Iron Man, Captain America, Black Widow…" Jack whispered.

Then, Jack heard someone coming closer to the room. Woman of about 40 years old opened the door and said loudly:

"Come on Peter, you are late for breakfast!"

Jack jumped up to the window, where he saw a view on Queens, New – York. "Did she just call me Peter? Was that aunt May?" he was thinking.

"Wait… does it actually mean that I am… Peter Parker… the Spider-Man."

Ever since I was small as cute as baby, I have an incredible of strength not comparably kid of my age.
But it was not to the point of being super powerful like a certain superhero when they were baby.
For example; Kid at age of 10 is simply unable to pick up heavier thing than their weight.
But I can do that just fine.
It is not just the strength that is different than others.
My eyesight can see far away than normal people and my stamina is higher than that of an adult.
I have asked father once out of curiosity when I was sparing with him.

" Of course, you are different than other's kid at your age. You are my cute lovely child after all. "

He replied with something that only a doting parent would say.
Before I could ask for another time, my father went on different topics, as if trying to get me distracted from talking about it.
At the age of 10, I was still an innocent naive little kid.
So it went without saying that father got me good.
Now that I'm an adult, I can tell that something is definitely wrong about me.
First of all, just like what I said previously, my overall abilities are different than those of normal people.
It is not only entirely of that, but there was also another thing that got me curious until now.

That is blood.
Whenever I see blood, I feel the urge inside me, telling me to drink that blood.
Even though the urge was small, I can still be able to take hold of myself.
But at some point, the urge I have been keeping hold of has taken over me.
The accident happened exactly when I was 13 years old.
It was the day when I was waiting for food that is being grilled by my father.
It was also the first time in my life that my father brings me to somewhere else.
My father was saying that my first outing is for a new training phase.
The training is about fighting against a wild animal.
Yes, wild animal.
Me, at the age of 13, was fighting against a wild bear.
The fight was very intense as it was the first fight for taking the other's life.
I won somehow in the end without the help of father's.
At that time, I have begun questioning about what in the fricking world am I doing.
My friends once called me when I was fighting some wild wolf and they asked what were am I doing.
When I answer them truthfully, their reaction is what makes me thinks all this over.

" Wait, what? Can you repeat what you said again? "

" Yea, I feel like I heard something about you fighting against wild wolf.. but I must have heard it wrong right? "

That was the moment, for the first time in my life, I started to question what in the world is my father doing by giving me all these sorts of intense training to the young me.
Well enough of the side topic, what am i talking about again?
Ah, the blood incident was it?
Anyway, when my father was grilling the meat from the wild bear(beaten by me), he accidentally hurts his finger.
I will say this first, he is really really, REALLY bad at cooking.
My father is really bad at cooking.
I have to say it twice because it is that important.
Anyway, when I saw the blood coming out of the wound, my eyes turned red and I lost my consciousness.
When I wake up, it was already night time.
I wonder why my father was in bad shape with his clothes getting torn all over.
With my curiosity as that of a cat, I asked my father.

" What, it was just me forgetting something important and ended up getting bit-Cough. It is nothing important, so you don't have to be a worry. Now that I remembered it, I'll take care of it. "

That was the starter of my father telling me to drink some suspicious medicine.
Since the medicine actually tastes as good as wine, I don't complain much.
And whenever I see blood the next time, I can control my urge very easily.
At this point, even a dumb person can tell what the hell is going with me.

Looking through the mirror, I can see a fang among the teeth.
Although, it was too small that people wouldn't take notice of.
Letting out a sigh from my mouth and said.

" Am I a vampire? "

I have thought that a lot before when I looked back on my memories.
But when I try to find any kind of information about a vampire, it all ended up as fiction.
I simply don't have any known weakness of vampire on me.
The same goes for Sebas.
I have also thought that I'm actually the same as him but he shakes his head.
Then what in the world am I?

" Although faint, there is my familiar's blood in your blood. "

" Come again? "(Sera)

" From my experience(manga), We can call this situation as you having the blood of my familiar in your family, or maybe your father? "

He is guarded and come off as selfish and uses people to get what he wants. He can't help it. However he is the life of the party and is very charming and conniving.
The main female lead is shy and reserve and they are the complete opposite, however their world's will collide and we will see what happens when it does.
Also, please do not be offended by the contents therein, it's just fiction, none of the characters are real and it is just all in my imagination, so don't take it too serious lol. The places mention inside the novel is also not real.

When coming back to retrieve his treasure, Noah just smiled. His new fellow brother and sisters wondered whether he had gone crazy or if Oliphia went a bit overboard. After all, it was strange to see a child pressing ice on the head while wincing slightly, but also smiling like the lottery's winner. There was no way they would know why such optimism.

Despite all the circumstances, he could only smile. All in all, he had it rough in his past life. Not only did his past caretaker try to make everyone's life miserable but he also didn't have any money to buy books, which were important for his future. The education of the public school he enrolled in was lacking in every possible way, so he needed to study by himself (something made impossible by the strict senile woman). He still painfully remembered all the mornings he woke up earlier than the others to slip out and go to the library, which was 9 blocks away. In addition to that, there was no public transport nearby. He went as far as working illegally in a shady restaurant to gain money, all so he could buy a bike to move faster around the city.

But against all odds, he made it through. He became a cunning and smart teenager by the age of 16. Along with his life, he prepared and studied to enroll into the best universities, which were far, far away from the orphanage he hated so much. If someone asked Noah what saved him from his unavoidable future, he would say:

Books, as simple as that.

Other than educational ones, he liked to read about fiction and fantasy, which allowed him to forget about his life's difficulties and carry on. Although what made the most impact on him, reminded a lot of his life; Harry Potter's saga.

Similar to him, Harry Potter's adoptive family was as good as trash. Nevertheless, he became a wizard and his life changed forever.

Change. That's what Noah craved for.

He wished his life took such a turn around.

Still, there was no magic, in reality, there were only harsh truths. He knew what fiction and reality were though, so he never lost himself into the books. They were more of a motivation to him, the promise of a better future.

And here he was, with the Hogwarts letter underneath his bed cushion and a new family. He knew they were good people, after meeting with all types of individuals he could judge well people's character. Although he wasn't informed why or how he got there, he was focused on his new objective, which was getting inside Hogwarts and learn some god defying spells. 

'How I got here? Why am I here?

I don't know and I won't discover in the near future, so let's focus on other things.

You got to do what you can. And right now, I need to get into that college, and that's all I need to know.

Speaking of which...'

He looked around his bedroom.

'I'm poor...'

He stated as dread crept its way up to his spine.

'So how am I going to buy my school materials?

...Shit... I am feeling just like a Weasley.'

"Oh hey Noah, are you okay?" A soft voice came from outside.

"Shit" He urged, raising his bed to hide the letter back. "Yeah, yeah. I'm fine, no need to... worry about me!" Noah insisted. 

"Are you sure-" A tall girl with long black hair opened the door. Her face showed all the worry on the world.

"Shit." He was caught red-handed. 

"What's that in your hand?" Her eyes sparkled at the sight of the paper.

"Oh nothing, just... the postman weekly letter." Noah blurted while trying to hide it behind his back.

'No way I am getting out of this now.'

"Of course... the postman, right?" An evil smile crept its way on her face.

"It looks like something else though..." She suggested while approaching closer. "Why would you try hiding it otherwise?" She asked with a thoughtful face.

'My cute Noah! Receiving love letters! How could I, his sister, not know about this?' She asked herself.

As the oldest in the house, it was her duty to know everything about the younger ones. Especially Noah, who was so cute and defenseless that she took him in as her brother - without his saying on the matter of course. 

"Who is the lucky one?" She demanded with her best intimidating stare.

"Lucky one?" His face contorted in confusion.

"You won't fool your sister! Who is the girl we are talking about?" She got closer.

'Girl, are you mad? What are you... OH! I see.'

"Is not from here..." He babbled while making an embarrassed face and staring at the floor.

"I knew it! Is it Madeline?" She concluded, making a triumphant smile.

He gasped for air and was surprised for a moment, then got back to staring down.

"How did you know?" Noah stuttered, refusing to look up.

"How? I am your sister." She kneeled and hugged him. "There is just no way you can hide your secrets from me." A gentle smile replaced her previous one.

'Are you sure about that?' He thought while hugging back.

"You could tell me about it. I can give you a few hints of what a girl wants." She winked.

"Really?"

'God, please no!'

After 30 minutes of a long and painful session of cringy pieces of advice, he was by himself again.

'I feel dead inside.

At the very least, during that torture, I could brainstorm some ideas about how to raise money.

Yup, that's right.

I am getting myself a job at brewing potions.

... I do wonder if they will accept a youthful boy with an 18 years old mind filled with potion recipes.

Thank god I still have a good memory.

I also discovered that I am very close to the Diagon Alley. Such a strange coincidence...

Not that I am complaining though, I already had my fill of walking long distances.'

After Voldemort's death, a lasting era of peace begins. The heroes of Hogwarts; Harry Potter, Hermione Granger, and Ron Weasley are hired into the Ministry of Magic and Minerva McGonagall becomes the headmistress in Hogwarts. Everything is fine for the wizards, this is their golden age.

[NERO'S POV]
The first phase of the hunter exam was a marathon run. Mr. Satotz told the all of the applicants to follow him. They would not know when or where they will arrive. It was a gruesome way to weeding out the weak from the strong. To challenge them both mentally and physically. 
It didn't take long for the some applicants to start dropping out. After two hours or of continues running some people couldn't go any farther. I on the other hand was maintaining a steady speed to stay in the middle of the puck. I didn't want to stand out just yet. Though I am pretty sure one person had his eyes on me already. 
It couldn't be helped so I just ignored it for the moment. I looked back to see how many people were behind me. There were still a lot of people in the race. Gon and his pals were behind me talking to each other. Leorio was starting to feel the burden of the race and regretting his chose for cloths. I mean who the hell wears a suit to take the hunter exam like this was some sort of a business trip. I know this was in the show to make him stand out, but this was just nothing but a bad sense of attires chose in my eyes.
On the other and killua was on his skateboard casually maintaining his pace with the others. Leorio saw this and started yapping at the boy for using his skateboard. Which prompted Gon interjected between them explaining to Leorio that the examiner never said that this was a test of endurance. He only told them to follow him and whatever method they use to do so were up to themselves.
[Alfa] {He is quite the perceptive boy sir}
[Nero] {Indeed he is}
Killua was intrigued by seeing a boy the same age as him taking the hunter exam. He asked him Gon's name and age which Gon replied to with a happy look. The boys seemed to hit it of very well. Kilua got off his skateboard and started to run biased Gon.
After four hours of continuous running, more than 30 people dropped out of the race. We have been running for approximately 60km now. And I don't want to say it but the way Mr. Satotz is running bothering me. I mean, how the hell dose the joint of this man fiction?
After another two hours or so passed we reached a staircase leading upwards. Mr. Satotz increased his speed to push the applicant even further. He wanted the test the mettle of this new wannabe hunters. He was running up the stairs as if he was running on flat ground. And because of the increase in speed even more people started to drop out.
But amidst all these people who were trying their dammed hardest to keep up with Mr. Satotz. Two boys were having the time of their life having a friendly race with each other. Gon and killua were running side by side up the stair with extreme ease. They were having a race to see who will get to the finish line first.
After what seemed like an eternity for most of the applicants started to see the light at the end of the tunnel. Both metaphorically and literally. Finally seeing the end of this hellish tunnel they were rejuvenated. Some of the applicants who were on their last leg and of course Mr. Leorio was amongst them And might I add he was running top less.
Gone a killua were the first to run out of the tunnel. They both landed at the end of the line at the same time. They were followed by the front row runes like Hanzo, Hisoka, and some others no names. After reaching the end of the tunnel. Mr. Satotz let the applicant cache up with each other which gave the ones who were there some time to rest and regain their energy back.
The place we reached was a vast swampland forest covered by a dense layer of fog. Back then when I was traveling from forest to forest I heard some rumors about this place. It's has a very strange ecosystem. Ever since then I was waiting for the hunter exam to visit this place.  I figured two birds in one stone right. 
So far I had been into three different wild habitats. All of them had deferent ecosystems. The death fore's I was in for the past three years for example. Almost all the fauna there relayed on either speed or stealth. To hunt or to survive. The one before that was called the shade trees forest. Its name was derived from the nature of the trees that grew there.
These trees had long and wide leaves and they grow up to 1000 meters high preventing the sunlight from reaching down. Inside the forest, whether it was night or day it was indistinguishable. The fauna there grew adapted to relay and depend more on their ears than their eyes. 
After ten minutes or so of waiting around the tunnel the exit of the tunnel started to close and Mr. Satotz started speaking. [Satotz] "This place is called the Milzy wetlands also known as {the swindlers swamp} we must travel through here to reach the second phase"
[Satostz] "This place is the home for a vast variety of truly bizarre animals, many of which are crafty and voracious creatures who deceive and feast on human prey. So please do tread with extrema caution. If you are deceived you will die!!"
After hearing Mr. Satotz word most of the applicants became worried about their wellbeing. It is Understandably, I guess. Running the first part of the test was exhorting both mentally and physically but there was no danger to their lives. This time around though their lives will be on the line so it was understandable to feel nerves.
[Satotz] "These wetland creatures are not to be underestimated for they will use every trick in the book to deceive their prey. If you are deceived or lose sight of me when we start you will surely die. So pay very close attention to your selves and surroundings when we start running"
As Mr. Satotz was explaining what they should do to the applicant a sudden scream came from the back of the line.
"Don't trust him!!!" said a man with some torn clothes. 
The man said that he was the real examiner and that miter Satotz was an imposter. He dragging in a man faced ape. And Might I add it looked like Mr. Satotz. The man said that mister Satotz was a man-faced ape from the wetlands and he wanted to deceive them. He said the Satotz wanted to lead them into a trap. To kill them all and eat them.
His bold clams of the man and the nature and mannerisms of Mr. Satotz, lead to some of the applicants to question his authenticity. And they started arguing amongst each other. The asked the man calming to be the real examined for his hunter license. But he claimed that  it was stoledn by Mr. Satotz. And as he the man was barking along like a rabid dog he was suddenly cut off. Three sharp projectiles swooshed near my face and stabbed deep in to the yapping man. If I did not move my head out of the way instinctively one of those card would have struck me. 
[Nero] {The bastard did that on Perouse}
[Alfa] {That one was clearly meant for you sir}
When I looked at the person responsible he was smiling with his eyes closed while shuffling a deck of cards in his hands. The man the claimed to be the real examiner was skewered by Hisoka's cards. He laid dead flat on the ground. Mr. Satotz, on the other hand, had caught the card sent his way.
[Hisoka] "Oh I see I see, I guess that steels that argument" 
Hisoka "so you are the real one!!" He looked at Mr. Satotz and said
Some of the ones who got deceived gasped at the sudden change of event leorio and Hanzo amongst them.
[Hisoka] "The examiners are hunters each is handpicked by the exam comity for the job without pay. Anyone who holds the title we are vying for could have deflected that and pretty easily might I add"
When he said that last part he sneaked a glance at me.
[Nero] {He is starting to get on my nerves}
[Alfa] {He is purposely provoking you sir if you fall for it he wins}
[Satotz] "Oh I shall tack that as a compliment, but know this if you attack me again for any other reason I will have no choice but to inform the comity to disqualify you. Is that clear?"
[Hisoka] "Clear as rain"

"Isn't it because it's the apocalypse already?"

If Ye Han didn't sound so serious, Eu Jin almost wanted to have him repeat his words as if he wouldn't dare believe that he truly heard it. Ye Han's answer was beyond Eu Jin's expectations. "Wait, huh? What's that? The apocalypse?"

Ye Han suspiciously nodded at Eu Jin to confirm his words. He finds it odd that someone doesn't know it is already the apocalypse now, given that, as far as he knows, there is nowhere in the entire world that is safe from the onslaught of monsters.

"That can't be! Is that the reason why there isn't any mana in the atmosphere?", it seems that it was Eu Jin's turn to panic this time around. "What exactly do you mean by its the apocalypse?"

"Mana? What do you mean by mana?", Ye Han asked back. It seems that the two of them are not on the same page at all.

"Mana, the one that governs the laws of this world!", Eu Jin said hysterically. "The one that allows humans to create potions, divine blades, and all that?"

"Do you mean inner qi? That can only be found in fiction novels! Are you delusional?", Ye Han chortled. 'Do you have chuunibyou?' 

Ye Han didn't voice out that last question, though.

[Master, ask this Ye Han boy if this is still Earth.] Liam, who has been silent all these while, finally voiced out a question.

"Is this still Earth?", complying to Liam's questions, Eu Jin asked.

"Yes, this is still Earth.", Ye Han nodded in response.

[How many years of history does this Earth has?]

Even though he doesn't know where the conversation was going, Eu Jin still echoed Liam's words to Ye Han.

"You mean, since its existence?", Ye Han clarified. "If I remember correctly, the Earth's age is 4.5 billion years but history's first record of life is 4 billion years ago."

"What now?", Eu Jin can't help voicing out to Liam even when Ye Han was there. He didn't notice Ye Han's wary look on him. Liam, on the other hand, was silently analyzing the boy's words before he replied to his master.

[Master, perhaps the cultivation era has long ended? I don't know what happened for mana to have been erased completely from the atmosphere, but it may be due to this that the cultivation era ended and a new era was ushered in.]

Eu Jin scratched his head in frustration.

[Moreover, perhaps the records of cultivation and mana have long been erased in the passage of time. We didn't keep track of time while we were sealed in the space so that may be what happened.]

"That's not fair! If that's true then… Four billion years! That's four billion years of human history I've missed out on! And now, even before I can enjoy the new era, it's even the apocalypse!", Eu Jin can't help but scream his frustration out loud.

[It may be thanks to the apocalypse coming that the seal weakened and you are able to go out, Master.] Liam calmly analyzed the situation.

"Even if that is the case, that is still not fair!", Eu Jin can't help but stomp his feet angrily.

[Master, before you throw a tantrum there, it would be good to decide whether you'll explain the truth to the boy or act crazy. He's looking at you suspiciously right now.]

"Huh?", Eu Jin finally remembered that there's another person around him. He turned to look at the boy who had inched a bit away from him and smiled gingerly. "Well, you see.."

When Ye Han saw that Eu Jin finally returned back to his senses, he inched a few steps away once again, afraid that Eu Jin will go crazy and hurt him.

"We may have a lot of things to talk about."

Due to his master, Eu Jin lived his entire life enclosed in a magical space where he worked day in and day out to make potions. He had never talked to anyone nor had he seen anyone apart from his master. After who knows how long, the seal to the magical space was broken by an unknown force, allowing Eu Jin to escape and see the world beyond his space.

However, why is everything disorderly and in ruins? There were trees, buildings, soil, and sky - but why are there blood everywhere as well?
