run. Run! Run like no one is watching, I kept telling myself! The door is right there. The door that leaves me free, free to end all humanity with one simple drop of the concoction in between my sweaty palms. I just need to make it a tiny bit further. "STOP! STOP IN THE NAME OF THE LAW!" the police officer screamed in my ears from behind. My ears were ringing from the screaming. how could they of known?! I didn't even tell a single person. Well not that I can remember at this terrifying moment. I ran threw the door. The door that lead to the light, the light of the sun, the sun that would blow up this idiotic planet once and for all. I grabbed my teleportation device and thought of my ultimate, favourite place to go to. wait. Hold up. Back up a few months, let's go back to where it all began shall we? 

*three months earlier* 

I was on a three hour call with my sister, Abigail. "Wait so how do you plan on ending the world without any of my help?" I laughed. "I am making a potion that has the same amount of energy as the sun does, it basically disintegrates the earth down to the rockiest core, leaving no space for any of us humans and we all will die!" I cheered happily. i could hear my sister cringe over the phone. "That doesn't sound pleasing." I rolled my hazel eyes. "Your just jealous I'm ending the world and your not." she scoffed. "Hey I killed 5 million people. I made sure you had 5 million less people to 'disintegrate' you jerk." I laughed once again. "Sure okay, you totally helped me." She hung up on me. Leaving me to my plans of how to make up this devilish concoction. basically I have made a blue print of the potion itself. it's red with multiple branches of the earth inside it to accommodate to the earths actual geographical figure and shape. I'm quite smart and actually graduated from Harvard with flying colours of course. I'm probably the smartest girl in the world by now. but you should probably know what I look like, to give you a vision of what the smartest girl in the world looks like hm? My name is Helena Scott, I'm 21 and I work at a lab called Infinite Labs. I have dirty blonde hair with hazel eyes as you know. I have dirt in every single one of my nails obviously since I work around and with the earth a lot with this plan of mine. I'm 5'5 and I have one sister named Abigail. my parents died when I was young in a car accident apparently. That's what I was told by my sister but I really have no idea how they died. I wasn't there of course I was too young. Maybe around three? So my sister has been taking care of me every since we were very young. I look up to her yes but I also want to be my own person. The one who ends the world. 

*two weeks later*

Finally, my blue print is done. I should be making the actual potion in about a month, I'm not in too much of a rush after all. I just need to make sure this is made before any one of my other employees finds out about my plans. I mean it's not every day that you find out that one of your employees is trying to end the world right? whatever, it's at least the hardest project I have ever worked on and it's really making me excited on how challenging this is. I mean ending the world is obviously going to be hard and quite frustrating. But like every other project, it's going to feel so good when it's finally done. So satisfyingly evil and wicked. It's going be very fun I bet. and there's no one that can stop me at all! I mean no one even knows I'm going to end the world except for my sister of course but she's just as crazy as I am so I mean She won't tell anyone. She is good at acting though, we both are. That's how I landed this job other then being smart of course. I can't wait until the whole world sees what a monster their own kind created. Haha. I can't wait! I should get back to working though. So the first thing is to figure out where to hide these blue prints. Hmm. Maybe behind my picture frame? It could work. No one is going to be in my house anyways right?  Now I just need to hang up these blue prints behind my picture frame. I picked my favourite picture frame and hid the blue prints behind it in my bathroom. No one will ever suspect It right? I went into the kitchen and made myself a pot of coffee. It's almost 1:00 am and I'm just waiting until I have to leave for work even though I'm always working, at home and at the lab. I never really stop. it's easier to work at home because it's quiet and I can actually work on my main "ending the world" project. I put two cream and two sugar in my coffee. The usual. Maybe even add some more sugar because I'm tired. I don't sleep a ton. There isn't any time for sleep. I walked around the house thinking about what ingredients I will need to "end the world". it's hard because everything on this earth usually helps the earth instead of pollution. I could use trash and pollution materials but that wouldn't really disintegrate the world you know? I mean yes my sister killing five million people helped but one billion would be better. Easier to end everything you know? Heh. I sound suicidal with my "ending it all" thoughts. once I was finished my coffee it was finally time for me to head out..

As soon as Gu Nianshen accepted the parcel, he tore the packaging apart. It was a simple dress with flower prints all over it.
He frowned, confused.
Then, he began to walk quickly into the bedroom with the dress in his hands.
When his hand touched the doorknob, he felt as if something was stuck in his throat.
As he pushed the door just a little, letting the light into the room. Suddenly, two beautiful long legs came into sight.
Gu Nianshen felt something tighten in his throat.
As soon as he realized what he was seeing, he turned around and shouted at Qi Shaodong. "Get lost!"
Qi Shaodong was surprised by his reaction. When he looked at Gu Nianshen's face, he noticed that his face was red.
It was as if he had seen something he should not have. 'How weird.' Qi Shaodong thought.
Although Qi Shaodong was curious about what Gu Nianshen had seen, he did not have the guts to find out. Alas, he left with his mind filled with curiosity.
Meanwhile, Gu Nianshen gently pushed the door and started walking in quietly.
When he arrived next to the bed, he was still only able to see a pair of long legs that belonged to a woman.
In fact, he could even see the corners of her pink underwear.
Suddenly, Gu Nianshen felt a warm sensation in his abdomen. 
'You idiot!'
Gu Nianshen immediately shifted his gaze away before inhaling deeply and exhaling as he trembled.
'Don't think about it. Don't think about it.' Gu Nianshen shook his head.
"Mister Gu," Lin Xiaoyu suddenly called out.
He still sounded sleepy.
Gu Nianshen's first reaction was to check if Lin Yiqian was still asleep. "Shhh!" He immediately gesticulated to Xiaoyu not to make any noise.
"Mommy's asleep." Lin Xiaoyu finally noticed that Lin Yiqian was still sleeping next to him.
Xiaoyu was speaking in an equally soft voice.
"What did you call her?" Gu Nianshen frowned.
Lin Yiqian could hear people speaking near her in her sleep. "Gu Nianshen?!" Her eyes were wide open when she saw Gu Nianshen in the room.
'When did he return?' She thought.
As soon as she woke up, Gu Nianshen's facial expression changed. "Did you have a good sleep on my bed?" He snorted.
"Are you dressed like this to seduce me?" He scanned the clothes on Lin Yiqian.
Lin Yiqian felt speechless.
'Why would I seduce you?!' Lin Yiqian rolled her eyes as she thought. "I accidentally spilled water on my clothes. I borrowed one of your shirts."
She sounded righteous.
"Mommy, I want to pee." Xiaoyu suddenly stood up.
He then climbed out of bed and walked barefoot to the bathroom.
"What did he call you?" Gu Nianshen asked as soon as Lin Yiqian turned to look at him with a pale face.
Lin Yiqian noticed that Gu Nianshen seemed confused but not suspicious.
"He wanted you to become his father. I told him I am your-" Lin Yiqian paused and looked around.
She bit her lip as she paused.
"What?" Gu Nianshen asked curiously.
"Wife!" Lin Yiqian finally said the word.
"He then… started calling me 'mommy'," she continued with a softer voice.
She then pointed at the bathroom with a look on her face hinting 'you know what I mean'.
"Did you just adopt a child on my behalf?" Gu Nianshen frowned.
However, he was actually happy on the inside.
It was not because he was a father and Lin Yiqian was a mother. It was the fact that Lin Yiqian had told someone else that she was his wife.
All of a sudden, Gu Nianshen hoped that the little jerk was indeed his son.
Gu Nianshen wished the kid would continue to address him as his father and Lin Yiqian as his mother.
"Yeah…" Lin Yiqian shrugged.
'What else could I do?' She thought.
"Mr. Gu, I think I urinated nearly two meters away," Xiaoyu's excited voice suddenly called out from the bathroom.


Gu Nianshen had thought all along that he was raped by an older lady five years ago when he got really drunk at a nightclub. When he met a child who resembled him and Lin Yiqian, he carried the child in his arms. “Where is your Mommy?” He asked. Calmly, the child pointed a finger at the screen of his phone. “There. She’s performing at a concert.” Coincidentally, the screen was displaying how a wealthy fan gifted the female singer on stage with 999 roses. Gu Nianshen’s facial expression turned spiteful as he gave his secretary an order. “Give Lin Yiqian a call. Tell her that her son has been kidnapped. She will have to turn herself in to get him in return.”
“Terrible mister…” Before the child could finish uttering his sentence, his biological father had placed a hand over his mouth. “You are being kidnapped!” Gu Nianshen fumed.

A warm touch of sunlight enables me to wake up, but I told myself 5 minutes then I'll wake up. 
I don't know how long I've slept but my son is trying to wake me up.
"Good morning Gio how's your sleep?"
"Good morning mom it's great I dream about my daddy playing with me"
"really? then let mommy be your daddy"
actually he always ask about his father which I cannot answer cause I don't want him to know
"mommy are you alright? your are staring blankly into space again"
"sorry baby, what do you want?" i juat need to coax him a bit
"Let's take a stroll here in manila,.... zoo"
"sure,... but you are not going to wander around stay with mommy ok?"
"yes mommy affirmative"
i laugh at my baby's reaction which he copied from a tv show
" then wash up and let's choose a pair of cute clothes"
"yaaayyy"
my son sounded as if he don't go to zoo or any parks before and his reaction is always the same, I watched my son's silhouette as he run towards the bathroom.
"mom what are you waiting for? let's go"
my child is very excited hahaha.

Living Room

"Ohh where are my daughter and my grandson off to?... you both wear such cute outfits"
"uhmmm" before I could answer my son answered 
"grandpa we are going to the zoo"
"I see... The outfits you wear answers it already"
my son wears a zoo keeper style outfit and a timber shoes while I wear a ripped jeans, shirt with bunny prints, bunny eared hairband and black rubber shoes.
" Good luck then, keep safe."
"yes...grandpa i'll bring you some gifts wait where's grandma?"
my father answers while he is scratching his head
"well.... how can grandpa say this..... grandma haven't woke up, probably tired"
"why?"
"cause grandma stay late at night.... little one just go already you might get in the traffic at this time"
I laugh at how my son nagged my father about how mother
"bye father" i said as i waved my hands bidding good bye
and my son kissed his grandpa to bid goodbye.

A short story that happened years ago which make her realized that life ain't no rainbows and cupcakes. life is as hard as it can be which leads to her sudden missing to find who, what and where she can find her true self.

Peter lay on his back for quite a while feeling the pain on his nose. He did not move from the place where he had stumbled the second time. He focused his sights at the dimmed part of the ceiling and closed his eyes to removed the tension from his body. The lights overhead were not turned on and only the bedside lamp and the light coming from the bathroom illuminated the whole room. Lights coming from the outside were blocked by the thick curtain of the two large windows and made the brightness of the room subdued. The things that transpired moments ago preoccupied his mind.

The Don is dead!

He remembered too the payment he had to receive, and it dawned on him that he had nothing to expect now. Slowly he rose to his knees and painstakingly crawled to the bottom side of the bed to peek at the body. He wanted to see if the old man had made any slightest change of movement. Peter was hoping for the slimmest of sign that the Don was not dead. Evidently the body had not moved and it had not given a sign that it would move again. Overcoming his dread, he crawled towards the legs of the old man and touched one of them expecting a warm flesh. The reality came back to him immediately. The Don's body was lifelessly cold.

Peter weakly slumped on the floor beside the bed. He commanded his head, Think, think, think. If he had to leave the place he must first remove the signs of his presence, the signs that placed him at the site of the crime. Just like in the movies he had watched, the killer cleaned the crime scene of any evidence that would point back to him.

But I did not kill him!

Whatever protestation he would make to the authorities, the overwhelming evidence were all over—the fact that he was with the old man at the time of his death— bore witness that he was the killer. Who was he to be believed, he, a poor garbage picker with nothing to lose and everything to gain. The motive could be easily established: he killed the old man while asleep and robbed him.

The chase for money had now caught up with him. Another lesson he had learned in the most tragic setting.

Peter rested his head on the side of the bed and started to plan what he would do. Clearing his mind would make his brain think straight. He wiped the warm blood still dripping from his nose and found out that some of the blood had splattered on the side of a gym bag and on the floor. Peter rushed to the bathroom and snatched several leaves of paper towel from the dispenser and wiped clean the portion of the floor where he had fallen including the affected bag. He scanned the surrounding area to look for what he might have missed. The scattered gym bags were then rearranged to their original position near the bed. He remembered the bags were heavy so he dragged them on the floor rather than lifted them. The question again entered his mind. Why are they so heavy? Unrestrained by his curiosity, he unzipped the first bag.

Old newspaper prints covered the top layer; Peter removed them casually. When the top of the content was exposed it made his eyes expanded roundly in disbelief.

The discovery made Peter's hair stood on end. He had seen it before. It was just like in the movies all over again. Bars of tightly compressed white powder packed inside plastic wrappings were neatly arranged inside the bag. He was not sure though if they were what he thought they were. He had no idea how to find out if they were really drugs. Another bag was opened and its contents were similar to the first. He slightly lifted the third gym bag when he tried to push it near the two. He noticed it was lighter—then he remembered—it was the same gym bag that he had carried from the car to the house.

Peter opened it.

The opened bag overwhelmed him. He was dumbstruck. Inside were bundles of 1000 peso bills. Wrapped around each bundle was a piece of paper on the surface of it was printed the words "100 Thousand" and below it the name of a bank. The bundles were stacked on top of the other and arranged methodically. His heart started to beat faster; his fists closed tightly; his muscles constricted; and a mixture of hot and cold engulfed him. He sat paralyzed staring at the bagful of money. When he recovered from his shock, he rose and sat at the edge of the bed. It had dawned on him that the nice, soft-spoken old Don turned out to be a big time drug dealer. He was now sure of it. The white powdery stuff plus the money pointed to that direction. It had complicated his whole situation. His initial concern was to get away from the place, get away from a dead body, but it seemed fate had been playing on him the whole time and teasing him.

Alright, you tempted me, I'll act on it! The consequence! The consequence! How about the consequence?!

He paced the floor back and forth to calm his nerves from the arising tension. He had to put his brain to work to escape from what he had already considered an unfolding farce, but first he had to collect himself together. Cool water splash on his face would help, he thought, and strode into the bathroom. In front of the mirror he saw his face was a wreck; his long wavy hair was a mess; the nose that suffered two hits were reddish and swollen; traces of dried blood clung to the top of his upper lip; and the bandages on both writs were smeared with oil. He cupped a hand under the running water, and gently splashed it to each side of his face avoiding touching the affected nose. He ran his fingers on his rumpled hair and wet them too. The cool water gave him some relief.

Out of the bathroom he immediately went to work. He had to remove the oil he had previously spread abundantly all over the old man's back. Peter wanted to leave an impression to whoever would investigate that no one was with the old man when he died. If oil would be found on his back then that would be a great contradiction. The old man could not possibly reach his back then pour and rub the oil all over it himself.

He was on the act of pouring the rubbing alcohol to remove the oil— which he got from the medicine cabinet together with a roll of paper towel from the bathroom— when a thought broke his planned action. He paused for a long moment debating the idea that suddenly flashed and entered his mind.

Life of a young man turned upside down by his own choices. The rules of morality hindered him from achieving a good life for himself and for his loved ones.

Chapter 18

"Ahhhh no it's too early," growled Saya as she snoozed her alarm for the third time this morning. 

After Haru's call last night she immediately fell asleep as instructed. She slept in the office having no energy left to return to the house. It was a good thing she thought ahead and brought clothes and personal items with her. From experience, Saya figured she would be like her parents, spending restless nights in the office working on cases so she came prepared.

Shaking the sleepiness away, Saya slowly made her way into the bathroom to get ready for school. She sighed heavily, knowing she didn't have time for breakfast, not even enough time for a cup of coffee. Today looked a little cloudy so Saya dressed in dark skinny jeans and a long sleeve black shirt with an attached hoodie. 

After getting dressed Saya made her way back to the house, her still sleepy body sluggish. How she cursed her father for getting rid of the golf carts during his health and fit craze. She was surprised her mother even allowed her father to get rid of them when she was as lazy as Saya. That was until one day she caught her father giving her mother a piggy back ride from the house to the office. It was then that Saya understood why her mother never objected to getting rid of the golf carts. Her mother probably only uttered a short 
"I'm tired", and her father more likely, very happily offered his services. "Darn my stupidly in love father. Why get rid of the golf carts when you know your gonna end up giving in to mom's demands anyways", Saya muttered to herself.

She hurried her pace reluctantly and in no time made her way to the front of the garage. Saya wasn't as surprised as yesterday to find Haru waiting for her. To be honest, Saya was more surprised with her body's reaction to being in the same vicinity as Haru. They'd always been a very passionate couple but she thought two years would have at least dampen her lust for him, instead it seemed to have festered to an almost unbearable degree. She couldn't stop the thrill building from deep inside her from seeing Haru's lean form lazily leaning against the wall. The plain fitted black shirt he commonly wore accentuated the hard earned muscles, built from years of swimming. His tall frame hovered over her petite body in a dominating manner, and she wasn't sure if she wanted him to conquer her or if she wanted to do the conquering. 

"I personally upgraded the security system. I would have gotten an alert if the system was hacked so how the hell do you keep getting in? Oh God, please don't tell me you saved my fingerprints and made silicone prints to bypass the gates security access," Saya said sarcastically.

Saya waited for Haru to rebuke her preposterous suggestion. The awkward silence continued and Saya's widened eyes bored into Haru's calm ones intently as if hoping for him to deny her claims. But Haru only gave her a nonchalant shrug and a small smirk.

"Haru! Are you fricken serious?! What the hell! You are bonafide crazy. How could you?", Saya shrieked.

"Allow me access and I'll get rid of my prints," he replied.

"Your prints?! Don't you mean mine!"

Haru straightened his body and with a couple steps closed the gap between them. His tall frame and powerful aura instantly enveloped Saya. She strained her neck to meet his eyes and for an instant she almost forgot how to breath as the burning desire in his eyes overtook her senses. "Your too close," Saya whispered lowering her eyes but not making an effort to step away.

"Not close enough", Haru murmured softly. His silky voice and hot breath sent chills down Saya's back and a smoldering heat began to spread throughout her body. But before Saya could comprehend what was happening, Haru took several steps back away from Saya. 

"Let's go my driver is waiting outside the gate," Haru said, his voice as calm as still water.

Saya was dumbfounded and a little irritated, maybe even a little disappointed. She really thought Haru was going to make a move on her. She didn't expect for him to move away so quickly after fanning her flames. 'How dare he!! Oh sh*t, what the h*ll Saya. Are you really disappointed he didn't make a move on you? What happened to staying away and now your here hoping he'll kiss you?! No girl, get sh*t together!' Saya thought furiously.

"Oh wait a minute, what do you mean lets go. And what about your driver? I have my own car and I can drive to campus on my own fine, thank you very much!"

"My car's safer and my driver has been certified in emergency driving. He went through the same emergency vehicle operator training police officers do," Haru said.

"You know my parents cars are safe Haru," Saya replied. While their cars seem average to normal citizens, they were customized with bulletproof glass, tires, and body. The cars were also equipped with a smart AI personally developed by Katherine that could detect crashes or damages and directly alert the proper authorities with the vehicle's location.

"They haven't been updated since two years ago. My cars are up to date with the latest and best safety measures money can buy. If you want to meet the lead detective for the assault cases then we'll use my car."

"You can't keep threatening me with that!"

"Yes I can. I put a gag order on the whole North Star Police Department. No one is allowed to talk to you without my say so."

"That is an abuse of your family's power!" Saya accused. She stared daggers into Haru's perpetually calm and confident eyes. With his family's background Saya has no doubts about his threats. Without his say so she'll never get anything out of the police men and women in NSPD. She might be able to hack into the police department's system to get case information but she knows that there are some things she can only learn face to face. 

Making up her mind and knowing when she was defeated, Saya walked past Haru towards the front gate, muttering softly, "Fine you win you bastard." Haru ignored the bastard part, happy that he won this round. He walked a few steps behind her but quickly hurried when they reached the car to open the door for her.

Saya made some incoherent sounds, seemingly unhappy with Haru's gentlemanly actions. She took a seat in the far corner of the huge SUV trying to put as much space between her and Haru. But her plan was in vain as Haru scooted closer. So close in fact that they were knocking elbows and feeling each other's body heat.

"Excuse you, there's more room over there!" Saya exclaimed pointing to the other end of the back seat.

"But I like the middle seat," he explained. It was a weak excuse and an obvious lie and they both knew it. 

"Move Haru!"

"I could move. But then I probably won't feel like sharing those delicious donuts and coffee from Isles Coffee Shop I have in the front seat," he said teasingly. 

"Donuts you say….coffee…", Saya muttered weakly.

"Yes mother I been taking those vitamins you and daddy sent….."

"Yes, yes, everyday. I have been taking them everyday, jeez mom…..okay love you too bye."

The young master held the phone in place listening to the dial tone while staring blankly into space.

"Here lemme put that back for you young master," said the old butler. He grabbed the phone and put it back in its cradle. He stood silently next to the young master, his hands grasping each other tightly in anticipation.

The old butler heaved a sigh of relief as he watched the blank expression on his young master's face disappear and be replaced with a sweet and joyful expression.

"Please get my things ready. I have to go to."

"Of course, right away," the butler replied.

The beautiful boy with sad eyes. She felt a connection with him from the start, and he the same. They made a promise to meet and spend every summer together. Deepening their bond of friendship with each summer passing.

The summer before their high school, the two finally confessed their growing feelings toward one another. And as a result, Saya asked her family to settle down so she could attend North Star High School with Haru. For two years, everything was perfect. Saya had it all. A loving family, great friends, and the love of her life. Until one stormy night changed everything. She was betrayed, hurt by the very person she trusted the most. The boy she loved. The boy she gave everything too. So she ran away.

After two years of mending her broken heart, Saya returned, to attend the college of her dreams. The only problem was that it was the same college Haru would be attending. What will Saya do when confronted by her past love?

Lin Dongxue scowled, "Oi, why are you coming in? Shouldn't we let the forensic team come and take samples and prints first? If we move the scene, my brother will punish me!"

Chen Shi responded, "What if there's a living person in here?"

"Okay, I guess what you said makes sense!" Lin Dongxue turned into the house and felt goose bumps on her body. She gulped and carefully avoided the blood on the ground that was splattered like ink stains everywhere.

The furniture in the house was not too messy. It seems that the murderer made very swift and clean murders. The two went to the back of the sofa where a woman wearing home clothes was laying. She should be aged over 30, and her whole head was like a bloody paste.

Chen Shi was ready to test is the victim had a pulse when Lin Dongxue stopped him. "Wait, don't leave fingerprints."

Chen Shi took out his mobile phone and placed the screen under the nose of the woman. After waiting for a few seconds silently, condensation still did not appear on the screen. "She's dead," he asserted.

The two went to the bedroom next. The bedroom and the living room were decorated in different styles. It was filled entirely with a set of old mahogany furniture and a wicker rocking chair. It was obviously the room of an old person. There was an old lady lying on the floor. Her neck had a hole torn through it, as if bitten by a beast. The blood stained a large piece of the solid wood flooring.

Chen Shi surveyed the area and found that a thick cleaver was thrown on the ground carelessly, covered with coagulated blood. "It seems that this was used as a weapon," he deduced.

The two went into another bedroom. This was the room where the husband and wife slept. The couple's wedding photos were hung on the wall in front of the bed. There was nobody in the bedroom. A bowl of soup was placed on the bedside table. Chen Shi went over and sniffed, "It's snow tremella and lotus seed sweet soup."

Chen Shi straightened up and looked at the small balcony that was attached to the bedroom. The balcony was semi-enclosed with windows on it. One of the windows were open and a small stool was placed on the floor. Chen Shi asked, "When you asked the locksmith to open the door, was it locked from the inside?"

"No!" Lin Dongxue replied.

Chen Shi looked down at the ground below. "It seems that the little boy jumped from here because he was too scared. Below is the flower bed. It has some buffering effect, but he was still injured pretty severely."

"When he woke up and found that the whole family was dead. It must have been so pitiful," Lin Dongxue sympathized.

 "When he woke up?" Chen Shi looked at her with a puzzled look.
