Chapter 1.1: Tutorial (I)

Being plunged into a different environment and told that he was gonna participate in a possible Death Game for Royals, he knew better than to trust the words simply said on the surface. He would of returned to his original world but the rewards were enticing especially when it allowed him to fulfill his wish. He could care less about being a god as long as his objectives were completed, what awaited him on his future as a god if he won the game would he think about later in the future because for now, the game had only begun and his chances of success was unknown.

Finding himself once again transported into an entirely different location, his state of daze was broken and he awoke upon a canopy bed adorned with velvet curtains. The room luxurious but its style was completely differently from what he was used to.

[System implant completed, scanning Host...]

Surprised by the sudden intrusion of the monotonous gender neutral voice, he was struck in a state of confusion upon hearing the foreign language. He regained his composure when he recalled the words of the mysterious entity.

'...will be accompanied by a system...'

Familiarising himself with the foreign word of 'System', he patiently waited to be further instructed by what he assumed to be the voice of his system.

[Scan complete, registering Host...]

[Register complete, changing Language according to Host's setting: Chinese]

[Greetings, Host Zhong Renjun]

His eyes glistened from hearing the familiar language and silently heaved a sigh of relief when he realised there wouldn't be a problem in communication.

[I am your assigned System and will be assisting you on your journey to conquering worlds. Before we commence with the tutorial, feel free to ask any questions and I will answer them to the best of my ability]

Lifting his pale lips, a deep, husky and masculine voice escaped.

"What languages did the other participants speak?"

Referring to the time he spent in the vast white space, he did not understand even a single word formed from each of the unfamiliar figures other than those who were similarly dressed as him. But somehow, the mysterious entity managed to speak in multiple languages all at once to allow every individual to understand its words, so despite being unable to decipher the meaning of the other's words, he was able to make out the questions asked when the mysterious entity gave them their answers.

[Answering, the languages that were spoken are as listed: English, French, Chinese, and German]

"That were spoken...? List the languages that weren't spoken."

[Continuing, the other-worldly languages that weren't spoken are as listed: Jefarian, Hestur, Klauf, and Geforin] 

"...Rather than listing the entire list of languages that weren't spoken, it revealed only four of each list so that means that these are the races or the people who knew these languages that haven't spoken in or up. There really are beings from other worlds..."

Pondering about his next set of questions, he asked.

"Zhen want to know why the reward isn't simply just fulfilling your wish, but gives you the power capable of turning you into a god?"

[Apologies, System is unauthorised to answer that question]

"Then, what is the true purpose of this game really? Why are the entities troubling themselves with a group of mortals and even offering them the power to become a god?"

[Apologies, System is unauthorised to answer those questions]

He set free the frustrations caged up in his chest, massaging his temple with his hand. The game is even more suspicious if the entities would not allow the answers to those questions to be revealed.

"Zhen understands, then are the worlds Zhen will be going to filled with actual people?"

[Answering, yes. Every world is filled with real, living people including the tutorial]

"Isn't that a bit extreme? For all zhen could know, someone would abuse the fact that it's a tutorial and do whatever it takes to conquer the world without having to mind the consequences."

[Answering, any method is plausible as long as the participant manages to conquer the world. But a breach in the rules will result in an instant disqualification]

[Note to the Host, the tutorial is not as it seems on the surface. It has its own set of rules and considering the amount of tasks needed to increase the rate of conquering, Host can be assured that no participant is foolish enough to rampage in the tutorial lest they want to enrage the god managing the world by threatening all of the lives of its inhabitants]

This reveal made one of his brows raise in curiosity.

"Gods manage each of the worlds?"

[Answering, limited information can be revealed but each world is created and managed by their respective gods. Permission was granted for the worlds to be used in The Royal Games and thus there are rather strict rules set upon each world, Host should take note of this]

"En. That means that mysterious entity is a god..." He nodded his head.

"Zhen know zhen should of asked this first but, where exactly is this?"

[Answering, Host is seated upon the room of your body's original possessor. Host is currently in the world of Asteria, the assigned tutorial world which is temporarily paused for the sake of Host asking questions. Once the actual event begins, there will be no room for leisure talk]

Lifting himself up from the bed, he placed his bare feet onto the surface of the cold marble flooring and stood. Freezing his tracks in front of a large mirror supporting itself on the wall and inspecting the reflection it held.

Long threads of scarlet cascaded past his hips and dragged onto the surface. His sharp onyx pupils traced from his tall nose, to his pale lips. The small beauty mark plastered underneath the man's left eye only helped to enhance his beauty. His tall and sturdy stature was adorned with a long golden robe that was loosened to the point it seemed to droop over his bulging muscles and revealed a hint of his enviable six pack.

He raised a brow and the corner of his lips curved to form a devilish smirk.

"Isn't this the same appearance zhen have? Didn't you say zhen would be transmigrated to another body?"

[Answering, Host is merely in soul form. The body you possessed will have its appearance appear once the time has resumed]

[Suggestion, Host should fix your speech. Not many inhabitants of each world refer to themselves in third person. It is recommended for the Host to start getting used to speaking in first person]

"Understood, zhen have no more questions to ask."

[Would you like to begin the tutorial?]

Neatly placing his robe into place as he hid his exposed chest, the previously mischievous smirk he adorned faded in mere seconds and was replaced with a dull and serious look.

"Of course."

The moment the words were uttered, the millions of particles of dust that were once frozen in place were blown by a mysterious force and faded into the void. The cold pressuring air that had befallen on him softened its impact and had been replaced with warmth. Peeking from the gaps of the similar velvet curtains aligning themselves on each shut window, brilliant golden rays of light slowly formed to lighten the dark room.

He too, had sensed the changes in his body. His crimson locks had shortened drastically to the point it couldn't reach his shoulders and the color had dulled into a darker shade of red. His previous onyx eyes were replaced with a stunning pair of sapphires that glistened every once in a while. His robes were swapped with a long sleeved white shirt hanging loosely over his body with the collar being messily opened from three buttons and revealed a sight of his strong collarbones, the ends of each sleeve were adorned with laces while laces vertically trailed from his collar to the edge of his shirt. Lastly, he wore a pair of black shorts that reached to his knees.

He had to admit, they felt many times more comfortable than the robes he once wore.

[You are the young master of the House of Dismodns, the heir to the Duke—Jaqelheim Von Dismodns.]

He raised an eyebrow at the foreign words uttered by the system.

[Sensing Host's confusion, do not worry, the memories of the original owner of your body will soon merge with yours and thus you will naturally know of their language, the knowledge of this world and its common sense depending in the compatibility.]

His confusion was dispelled and he released a sigh deep in his heart.

[Host will now receive most of the original soul's memories]

When a blazing heat washed ashore in his head, he received a wave of pain as foreign images interrupted his sense of thought in a rather rushed manner.

The world of Asteria, its setting was Western Fantasy. The most common language spoken was 'Açrudøq', named after the God; Acrudarius. He was currently in the Kingdom of Kedrid, if translated, it would be the Kingdom of Cards. Aside from the Royal family of Hersts(Hearts), there were the three most influential houses. The Dismodns(Diamonds), the Ckluvs(Clubs), and the Sepdaez(Spades).

Jaqelheim, the scorned son of the house despite being the eldest and the heir. One of the many traits that belonged to the house of Dismodns is that the descendants would always be male and possess a combination of blue hair and eyes. But Jaqelheim only possessed blue eyes and his red hair was an anomaly which caused the disgust and hatred from his relatives due to the suspicion of him being the result of an affair while his father merely neglected him.

Being the target of hatred and harm and having heavy expectations placed upon him as the future Duke, Jaqelheim was the most talented and intelligent son out of all the others because of his constant attention in classes forced onto him compared to his ignorant brothers, which made his position as heir fixed. But due to not being exposed to any positivity and having been taught to hide his emotions since young, he did not know how to express his feelings properly and hid his true self behind a cold mask; chaining his emotions for the sake of his ambitions.

[Asking, has host finished inspecting the memories of Jaqelheim?]

"Yes." A younger stoic voice escaped from the boy's pale lips. But it gave him a certain charm, cold innocence. The atmosphere radiating from him hinted his isolation, and was filled with a stern and pressuring air that masked his innocence.

[Now listing, Basic rules: 1. Do not act out of character. 2. Fulfill the Tasks assigned to increase the chances of conquering, the original soul's wish(es) is optional but will provide more experience than other tasks. 3. Conquer the world.]

[Now that Host is aware of the rules, you are free to start conquering the World]

His eyes narrowed and with a stern tone, a small smirk dawned upon his face which faded as soon as it came.

"It is finally time."

Pulled away from his home, his reality, he found himself plunged into a game of sorts entirely made for individuals who possessed a bloodline of royalty. Grouped with kings and queens who ruled their respective worlds and enticed by the reward stated by a mysterious entity all the while questioning the true motives behind the game, he focused only on one goal assigned to him and every other participant—

Conquer the world.

Azure Dragon Continent, Blue Star Empire, Imperial City East Border.

Within dark and thick forestry outside the east of Imperial City, time stop suddenly then later follow by a flash of blinding prismatic light shone for few seconds only to revealed a figure of a youngster by the age of 18. That figure was Bu Feng Tian, that was still feeling dizzy from the transfer, few seconds later, he reorganized his thought then checked his surrounding to better access the situation he was in.

"System?" ask Bu Feng Tian as his voice echoed eerily across the forest.

~Ding!!!~ [ Yes, Host...] answered the system. 

"Where am I? Do you have any idea on our location situated at?" ask Bu Feng Tian again toward the system.

~Ding!!!~ [ Host position are located at the east side border of the Imperial City of Blue Star Empire, also known as Star Forest. The accurate coordinate are X: ******, Y: ****** ] answered the system back precisely to Bu Feng Tian. 

"So, system? Do you have any advice on where or how to to start?" ask Bu Feng Tian as he searched for a place to sit down. 

~Ding!!!~ [ System suggest Host start  taking the tutorial before opening the Gift Pack ] answered the system as Bu Feng Tian sat down.

"I have a Gift Pack?!! I'll think about that later. System start the tutorial first then" ask Bu Feng Tian while surprised for awhile, then came back to his own thought later.

~Ding!!!~ [ Affirmative, Host ] answered the system while suddenly a transparent cyan holograhic screen appear in front of Bu Feng Tian.
[ The Divine Chef System was an upgrade from the previous Gourmet System with its A.I. reset back to beginning, so the system could accustomed to the new Host. As the Host grew in cultivations, skills and knowledges regarding ingredients and cuisines, the system shall follow closely to update itself to suits the Host needs and wants but in limited amounts. The current system function are Status; which show the Host states and informations, shows basic informations on host enemy, and appraised the weapons and ingredients that system scans through Host sight and touch. The Shop function are, as the name suggest is where Host will and could buy anything from the different types of tabs in the shops with the 'Wealth' Host have. The Lottery function are useful for Host to get any kind of thing from the categorized tabs or Host can try his luck on the 'Randoms' tab with the use of the lottery tickets that are obtainable through 'Emergency' mission tab or buy it at the shop. The Mission function are split to three tabs which are 'Main', 'Emergency' and 'Sub-'. Except for the 'Emergency' category of the mission, both 'Main' and 'Sub-' are classified of their difficulties which ranked from Rank D as the lowest rank mission to Rank SS as the highest. The 'Emergency' missions in the tab could also be consider as Rank SSS difficulties but sometimes was not due to how dangerous it was but because of the time limits and conditions in the  mission need to be fulfilled. The Inventory function are as it explain, it allow host to stores all kind of things inside, the stored items in the Inventory also will have their time stop completely to prevents any kind of ingredients from going bad or rotten. The last but not least was the wealth function which calculated Host Wealth including the crystals that are which later to be convert to Host cultivations. That all the Tutorial that will be provide by the system ] explained the system to Bu Feng Tian.

~Ding!!!~ [ Would Host like to open the Gift Pack? (Y/N) ] ask the system to Bu Feng Tian.

"Yes, after that show me my status later" said Bu Feng Tian after answering the system.

~Ding!!!~ [ Affirmative, Host.....Host has received System A.I. Upgrade Token, 3× Summon Companion Tickets, 100000 silver coins, 10000 gold coins, 100 crystals, Divine Gourmet Cultivation Technique(Rank ???), Basic Herbs Knowledges(Mortal Realm), Basic Beasts Knowledges(Mortal Realm), Basic Weapons / Artifacts / Items Knowledges(Mortal Realm), Languages Learning Token(Intermediate), Starter Recipes Pack, Store Opening Token and Store Upgrade Token(Earth Realm) ] answered the system later while listing the items received from the Gift Pack to Bu Feng Tian.

~Ding!!!~ [ Sorry Host, I have no idea what is happening? I couldn't access to the remarks option at all. I suggest Host to use the System A.I. Upgrade Token after Host open his restaurant in the Imperial City ] system explained while apologized to Bu Feng Tian.

"Fine.....fine, I'll do just that the first thing after the restaurant opened up" said Bu Feng Tian grumpily as he marched forward.

Two seconds later....
~Ding!!!!!~ [ Host, you are going wrong direction ] told the system to Bu Fang Tian.

"Ugh, I know that the wrong direction" said Bu Fang Tian shamelessly as he turn around.

What people that are not close to him knew was that he had a really bad sense of direction. For example like right now, that is the trip that usually taken a day from Star Forest to the city that was even for non-cultivator to arrived, took him more than a week.

Funnily enough, as if God trying to compensated him, he had an enormous amount of lucks, for example he sometime stumbles upon a high quality herbs and dying beasts that could be used for future ingredients. It was even gotten more ridiculous as flying type 4☆ and 5☆ spirit beast fall from the sky right in front of him full of injuries and all.

Bu Feng Tian, great-great-grandson of Bu Fang, find himself inherited the System which later upgraded and evolved to The Divine Chef System.

"You only hunt Divine Grade Prisma Boar only for its leathers, bones and core? How Foolish!!!",

Follow Bu Feng Tian as he learned and recreated the recipe of his ancestor Bu Fang, and add a little twist to it with his own eccentric ideas and choice of ingredients that provided by the System. Together with his pets and guardian golem, that is a Divine Hell Hound and a Divine Heaven Hound, a Divine Draconic Essence Shrimp and Divine Guardian Golem. 


*Disclaimer : This is a story that based on "Gourmet of Another World", and I admit that I might steals some ideas from other novels, manga, manhua, manhwa, comics, anime and tv programme. So give me a break cause I need some inspirations and reference to make this novel.*

"Hmm? where am i?"

Here he was wearing the pajamas he uses to sleep. however he wasn't in his bed not even his room. All he saw was an empty white room, a room completely white, he didn't know if the room was limitless or because the whiteness gave that illusion. He couldn't remember the last thing he did, his memory of the last day was a little vague, but he remember going to sleep.

Looking around he notice some text in the sky, when he thought he couldn't read the text, the text changed to Portuguese, his native language.

The first thing that came to his mind when he started reading, was that almost no one called him by that name anymore. Right after thinking this, the text changed.

"Is this a game?" he thought.

"Welcome, to the Infinite Worlds. You can call me..." suddenly he heard a voice, and when he looked around, he saw a golden humanoid silhouette floating. 

"God, yes that name will do for now" Continued the silhouette  after a pause.

"God?" Asked Fox skeptically.

"You will be participating in a survival test. If you want to live and return to the place you came from you must fight and survive" Said "God". 

Right after saying that he disappeared and around 50 meters in front of Fox, something started to materialize, first 2 green hairy feet appeared, then the green legs, the waist with a loincloth, then the abdomen and 2 arms ,one hand was holding a spear, and finally the face, a big nose, 2 big point ears, and a big mouth with lots of teeth .The creature was no higher than 1 meter.

Based on the common game knowledge of earth, Fox believed that the small creature must be a goblin or something alike. 

Looking at the spear, Fox thought  to himself, "what about my weapon?"

Right after that a screen appeared in front of him blocking his vision, and on the screen a list of weapons that came to his mind the moment he thought that. With a look he notice the weapons ranged from melees like swords to even real firearms he saw like glocks and AKs. 

Then he realized he lost sight of the goblin, when he turned his body to look, he notice that the goblin was in the same position he was before as if he was frozen in time.

Making sure the goblin wouldn't attack while he was browsing, he started to look carefully at the menu. After carefully checking he notice he could use those 500 points of his, to buy anything. There where 5 main categories, attributes, abilities, magic, skills and equipment.

In the attributes category there where 4 main attributes and 3 secondary.

Main:
200 points - Strength measures physical power and bulk

400 points - Dexterity measures a combination of agility, coordination, and fine motor ability. It controls the basic ability at most athletic, fighting, and vehicle-operation skills, and at craft skills that call for a delicate touch

400 points - Intelligence broadly measures brainpower, including creativity, intuition, memory, perception, reason, sanity, and willpower

200 points - Health measures energy and vitality. It represents stamina and resistance (to poison, disease, radiation, etc.).

Secondary:

60 points - Lift strength measures the maximum weight that can be carried.

100 points - Perception measures the general alertness.

60 points - Stamina measures the body's "energy supply". 

In the abilities category there where almost every ability you could imagine. You could gain the ability to fly for 4000 points, or you could gain the ability to teleport for 10000 points, or you could also get a super regenerative ability that heals most wounds in a few seconds for 10000 points. Every cheat ability was extreme expensive for him now, however there were some like magic talent that cost 100 points for level 0 and after that 200 points for each level from the level 1 onward.

In the magic category, he could see that he could get the same effects of the abilities with magic and magic was a lot more accessible, however most magics had prerequisites and a minimum magic talent to cast. And even after that he had to spend stamina to control the spell.

Flight for example had as prerequisite:
magic talent 2 (500 points)
and 2 other magics.

each skill, been it normal or magic, costs:
20 points to learn(basic)
20 points to improve from basic to intermediary
40 points to improve from intermediary to advanced 
80 points to improve from here onward. 

So with 560 points he could have the basic of flight magic. The 500 spent in magic talent would be used in other magics too, so the cost was even lower compare to the 4000 points. 

In the skills category he could learn every ability he would need to survive, been it a combat one (swordsmanship and firearms) or general  one(knowledge of deserts,temperate forests, mountains, etc; medicine, first aid)

In the equipment category he could buy anything from primitive technology to the current earth technology, he could even turn points to real money, 1 points 100 dollars.

He started with the basics, expendable items were cheaper than abilities so he started from there.

When he was buying the gun a prompt appeared with the message:

He could select basic, intermediary, advanced and no.

He decided to choose intermediary, since his M249 would be his main weapon during this start. After that, just like in matrix, all the knowledge he need to use the gun was integrated in his memory.

He was felling a little heavy with all that weight(What would you expect carrying a weight a military man train years to carry?)so he decided to buy Lift strenght. He spent 120 points to buy 2 points in it and now he could carry it easily. Having spent 219 of his 600 he thought he was ready for the little guy(Oh really?) 

Closing the menu he noticed that the goblin started to move, it looked around, and then he looked at Fox, he tilted his head a little as if trying to understand what he was seeing. Fox noticed that his ears moved a little, as if something was speaking to it. After that the goblin screamed and charged at Fox with his little spear. 

Fox aimed his gun at the goblin breathed and fired. 

TA TA TA TA

It was his first time shooting a gun, so even though he learned to shoot he had no real experience, and ended holding the trigger a little too much.   

His aim was perfect due to the small distance of less than 50m. Taking 4 hits, 3 in the chest, 1 in the leg. the goblin fell in a pool of green liquid that probably was his own blood. 

After killing the goblin a message appeared:

"Achievement unlocked: First blood. +50 points"

He noticed that now he had 432 points.381 points from what was left of the initial 600 points, + 50 points from the achievement, and +1 point, from what he tought, looking at the goblin. "Do I get 1 point for every creature  I kill?"

When he looked again at the board it showed:

I am no writer, nor have i ever tried writing, this is my first experience with this kind of thing. However, i am a GM(game master) of D&D, Gurps and Story teller, and this story is actually based in a campaign i created, but was never able to finish, since me and my friends had to drop for many personal reasons.

This book will contain game elements, however i will try to make the game system a lot transparent, with only some details, and i will only use the system as a guide since the campaign was based on it. 

The game was for Gurps(Generic and Universal Role Playing System) and you might notice some resemblance in the game system i will use.

Fox(MC) was thrown in a game by a been that called itself God, he and many other players now need to complete missions in order to survive. 

The first few chapters will be tutorial missions set to help the players adapt. 

The main arc will start when the tutorial ends and the first mission start. He might need many missions and years to finish one world or he might started a sub mission in a different plane or world before finishing the main one.

Panting and collapsed against a pillar Seth was relieved that he was finally done. The interface had ran him through every type of skill, from weapons training to lock picking, hacking, fire making, long distance running, and everything else you could imagine. Each time this strange place would morph into whatever was needed for his test and then come back to the simple area surrounded by pillars once he had finished. 
All sense of time was gone, there was no telling how long he had been trapped in this 'tutorial' but it felt like days. The only thing he had learned is that he was ranked just about as lowly as possible in almost every type of score possible. He had just finished doing wind sprints a moment ago and thankfully there was not yet a new message for him. Instead it still read the same thing it had after each test. 

'COMPILING RESULTS'

Seth was enjoying the feeling of the cold stone against his back when a small chirp sounded. There weren't any animals here unless there was a test, so the sound was very alien. Seth looked at the tops of the pillars and to the blackness beyond but couldn't see anything that would have made the noise, then he saw the message had changed.

'RESULTS COMPILED, STATUS WINDOW UPDATED, SKILL WINDOW UPDATED. WOULD YOU LIKE TO VIEW YOUR RESULTS?'

For a moment Seth held his breath, he had already thought this felt similar to a video game in its language, but he was almost afraid to believe what he was seeing. After hesitating a moment he sheepishly spoke.

"Status window, skill window....? Yeah show me the results I guess."

The moment he said those words two panels entered his vision, one on either side of his field of view. He looked to the left first.

Dumbfounded Seth looked to the right. He recognized the terms floating in his vision but couldn't believe they were corresponding to him. HP meant health, and thanks to his shield he hadn't been injured. STA usually stood for stamina, and based on how he had collapsed after the final test the low current reading seemed right. He had no clue what SPC stood for and was shocked when he saw EXP listed and that it was at zero.
"After all of that I didn't get any experience? Maybe because it was a test..."
Seth was whispering to himself, afraid if he spoke too loudly the spell would break and he wouldn't be able to see this again.  He saw his rank and didn't understand. Why would his rank be so high if he was so weak according to his stats? He ignored this for now and looked to the other screen before him.

While looking over these items he couldn't believe that his clothing had been listed. Glancing down at the dirt and tears covering his clothes due to the testing he understood why the condition was rated as poor. After a moment the windows vanished and a new message took their place.

'RUN ADVANCED INTERFACE TUTORIAL?'

Even though he was exhausted and had long since stopped caring if this was a hallucination or not he couldn't help but get curious about what would come next. He didn't want to do any more tests so this time he asked a questions instead of blindly accepting.

"What does the advanced tutorial do?"

At first nothing happened and Seth thought that perhaps the interface wasn't able to answer questions, that it only responded to specific commands. A few seconds later however the message changed again.

'ADVANCED TUTORIAL SHOWS THE OPERATOR THE VARIOUS OPTIONS AVAILABLE WITH THE INTERFACE, ONLY AVAILABLE ONCE BASIC TUTORIAL HAS BEEN COMPLETED. CONTINUE?'

"So I get to see how to use you more? Yeah sure, continue."

'THE OPERATOR HAS ALREADY SEEN THE STATUS AND EQUIPMENT WINDOWS, THEY CAN BE VIEWED AT ANY TIME TO CHECK STATUS AND UPDATE EQUIPMENT. THERE IS ALSO THE QUESTLOG WHERE YOUR CURRENT QUEST DETAILS ARE LOCATED AND THE CHARACTER MENU WHICH DISPLAYS CURRENT ATTRIBUTES AND ABILITIES, THIS IS WHERE EXPERIENCE CAN BE SPENT.'

Once the words stopped scrolling across his vision Seth spoke the word and opened the character menu, and once again a panel opened up in front of him. The display showed what he had seen after his initial test, his attribute scores listed, as well as skills that he had been tested on and their corresponding ranks. All were at level one. The second panel opened for the character menu had the word "abilities" written across the top, however all of the information on that page was grayed out and instead a banner was written across the page that read "LEVEL UP TO ACCESS THE ABILITY MENU."

"Ok, so I have to level up so see that... ok how about the questlog?"
The interface responded again with a chirp and a new window opened in front of his eyes. This time titled "QUESTLOG," but there were only two entries on the page.

The first entry read 'COMPLETE TUTORIAL,' and beneath it there were phrases listed line after line that described each of the tests Seth had been put through, each with a check mark next to them. The last line read 'VIEW ALL INTERFACE MENU OPTIONS THEN CLOSE WINDOWS TO COMPLETE.' The second quest was further down and it was titled 'IN NEED OF A PARTY,' it was grayed out and the same banner was posted across it saying Seth needed to level up to access it. 

Once he had looked over each of the menus he had been told about and was satisfied he understood what was presented on each Seth took a deep breath. 

"Time to find out if I can wake up I guess.. close windows and complete tutorial!"

He shouted the final words and closed his eyes expecting an unpleasant feeling to follow. To his surprise there was no sensation, no lights, and no noise that followed his words. After a moment he heard another chirp. Sheepishly he opened his eyes and in front of him was a small bird perched on the armrest of the bench he was seated on. He was back on campus. 

He saw other students milling about the campus, looking like they had just left their classes, the sun was high in the sky exactly like when he had left. Seth was in shock.

'Was all of that some kind of weird dream?'

He looked down and saw that his clothes were clean and whole, and the silver box  that had shielded him was nowhere to be seen. While he was looking himself over he heard a familiar voice.

"Seth! There you are, man we better hurry and get back to the dorm, we gotta get ready for the party!"

It was Rodger, with a big grin on his face.

"Hey buddy, yeah... what time is it?"

"What do you mean? Classes just ended, it's like four. We gotta get going, the party starts at six!"

There was no trace of worry on Rodgers face, no sign that Seth had been missing for hours or days or however long he remembered being in that place.

"Right, yeah, sorry. I think I've been pushing myself too hard, I must have dozed off on this bench. Lets go get ready."

With that he stood up and began walking back to the dorms with his friend. It wasn't until they were already a few minutes into the trip that Seth dared to look.

'TUTORIAL COMPLETE, QUEST COMPLETE, 
WELCOME TO THE SYSTEM OPERATOR.'

"Hey Delilah. Don't forget about the report, okay?" 

Delilah turned around and saw Aubree waving at her as she walked towards the exit of the office. 

She nodded. "Yeah, I'll continue it tomorrow. There are still some points that I haven't highlighted yet." 

Aubree just nodded before disappearing. 

Delilah quickly packed her things after shutting down her computer. She waved goodbye to those who passed by her cubicle. 

Shortly after, she was at the office lobby, with her phone in her hand. 

Instead of heading straight home, she was planning to go straight to her language class. She had just texted her father in the family group chat, saying that she's going to her class straight away. 

Few weeks ago, she had applied for a Korean Language class. Although she had attended once, she was still nervous. Probably because she still would not be able to learn much. Learning a new language was difficult for her. 

People say that it was easy. But she had argued that it depends on one's determination and will to learn. Even though she has the determination and will, she had to admit that it wasn't that strong. Learning a new language was something she wanted to add to her skill. 

The class was a few minutes drive from her office in one of the shopping centres in the city. 

Parking her car at a designated parking lot, she got out of her car and headed straight for the shopping centre. The class was on the second floor and she used the stairs to get there, instead of a lift. She thought maybe she could get a little exercise by climbing the stairs. 

Opening the door that leads to the class, she was greeted by the admin, who was manning the front desk. The place was similar to a school, albeit a private school or 'cram school'. 

Other than Korean language, they also offer language classes for Japanese, Arabic and Chinese. 

Nodding 'hello' to the admin, Delilah walked towards her class. Since it wasn't her first time, she knew where her class was. 

Entering the room on the left, she noticed that the class was crowded this time as well. Most of the students were those who were younger or more or less the same age as her. 

There were only a couple of males in the class. She presumed that either they were interested in learning or they were 'forced' to join the class by their girlfriends or wives. 

The class hasn't started yet. But it seems like everyone has already arrived except for the songsaenim [1].

Delilah took a seat that was a couple of seats from the teacher's table. She did not want to sit in the front nor did she want to sit at the back. 

While waiting for the songsaenim, she reads her Korean notebook where the first lesson was to read hangul [2].

She sighed. Although it was interesting learning the alphabets, it seems confusing as well. Especially when some of the letters can also be used for different letters. For example, one of the letters can be used for either 'r' and 'l'. 

Just as she attempted to practice her writing, the songsaenim arrived. The songsaenim was from South Korea herself. Her name was Kim Sanghe. She looked like she was in her late thirties. She was tall with a round face and fair skin with small eyes and nose. 

She was smiling as she walked to her desk. She then greeted the class, 'Annyeonghaseyo', which literally means, 'Hello'. 

After her students had greeted her back, she immediately started her class. She first revised back on the topics that they had learned during the first class, which was learning the hangul and the basic greeting words. 

The class was a two-hours class with a fifteen minutes break in the middle. 

Although they don't actually eat during the break, rather just drink, Delilah spent her breaks, just recalling the topics that they had learned. It was not because she was a diligent student. It was just that she needed more practice. She really was weak when it comes to learning a new language. Truth be told, she was weak in her own standard language. 

After the class was over, Delilah went to pack her things and said her thank you to her songsaenim. 

Leaving the school, she realized that she was getting hungry. She really needs some brain food at that moment. 

Fortunately, on the ground floor of the shopping centre, there were many food stalls being set up. She decided to buy her dinner at one of the stalls. 

Walking around, she finally settled on a Korean food stall. 

The tteokbokki [3] looked delicious. But it looked really spicy by how red it looked. She does not have the craving to eat spicy food at that moment. Studying the menu that was placed near the stall, she was surprised to see corn cheese being sold. 

It was not because it was difficult to make but rather, not many stalls would sell this. She did not know why. 

She decided to place her order for that and also some japchae [4]. Since there wasn't any place for her to sit and eat, she ordered her food to go. 

Few minutes later, she arrived at home with her two steaming food. She immediately went into the kitchen and placed her food on the dining table. 

She then went up to her room to take a shower. 

Once done, she went back to the kitchen. She took the take-outs from the plastic bag and began to open the cover. The food was still steaming hot, much to Delilah's delight. 

Before eating the japchae, she decided to eat the corn cheese since it's more delicious to eat it when it's hot. 

Scooping the corn, the cheese was stretchy as she pulled her spoon higher. The steam still came out from the food, indicating that it was still hot. She blew on the corn and took a bite. The corn was sweet and savory, giving out a heavenly flavour. It was loaded with butter mixed in it, making the taste more palatable and rich.

She loved how the corn seems to burst into flavour as she chewed on them. 

Few minutes later, she cleaned up after herself, already done with her dinner. Cleaning the kitchen, she then went up to her room to sleep.

The next day.

Delilah was rearranging her papers into a neat pile when Aubree knocked on the wall of her cubicle. 

"Hey Delilah. Howard's here."

Delilah turned around and nodded. She picked up the papers and her mobile phone and went out of her cubicle, heading straight for one of the meeting rooms. Aubree went back to her cubicle.

Inside the meeting room, Howard was sitting alone, in front of his laptop. He was typing on his laptop, not noticing Delilah's knock.

Delilah loudly cleared her throat. "Um, Howard?"

Looking up, Howard looked surprised at first when he saw Delilah, as if he forgot that he had called for her. He then gave her a smile and gestured for her to sit.

She took a seat across him and waited patiently as he finished off what he was doing.

Soon after, Howard set his laptop aside and held out his hand. "Are those the reports that I requested?" he asked.

Delilah nodded and handed him the papers.

Howard immediately looked through the report, turning the pages numerous times.

A few minutes later, the two went into a deep discussion. Delilah mainly talked about her opinions and reasons as to why she had changed some of the words. She showed Howard the little post-its that she had stuck on the reports, summarizing the words.

The discussion took them nearly three hours. And when Howard finally stopped the meeting, the two went their separate ways. Delilah immediately went to lunch whereas Howard went straight to the other branch, since he had another meeting with another employee of the company.

In the office cafeteria, Aubree was having her lunch, sitting at the table, together with Fawkes and Shazzy.

The three of them looked up when Delilah had approached them, pulling out a chair for her to sit. 

"How was the little meeting?" Aubree asked.

Delilah shrugged as she took out her lunch box from her lunch bag. "The usual," she said nonchalantly. 

Fawkes shook his head in bemusement. "I don't know how you two could spend hours in a meeting," he said. "What do you guys even talk about?"

Delilah shrugged again. "This and that," she said. "And of course, knowing Howard, he likes to talk off-topic."

Aubree laughed. "Yeah, he does," she agreed.

Thinking that all the seats on the plane were as big as hers, Zeynep looked around. However, looking at the economy seats behind her, she did not say any more. She was young but she was ready-witted, she noticed that the economy seats were smaller and tightly arranged. She realized that Youngho had used lots of money to make her comfortable through the long flight and smiled at him.
It was a 12-hour flight to Korea. In a Turkish airplane, Youngho, the siblings, Karajan, and four other employees set off to Korea. The gang was again in the center of people's attention because of their eye-catching appearances. Not only because of the siblings but also the girls of Azerbaijan, like Karajan and other employees, were famous for their beauty. It was said that Azerbaijani girls who work in the field were more beautiful than Korean celebrities, even Youngho frequently spotted a beautiful lady who made his heart skip a beat. Karajan was excited to visit Korea, she asked Youngho to give her free time so that she could go shop clothes at Dongdaemun market with Chunho Merchant's designer. She loves Korean clothes.
The gang from Baku landed at Incheon International airport at 10 PM, it was crowded with people because many planes usually landed around the same time. Cho Sangchun and Lee Yunsuh were waiting to greet them at the arrival gate with their child. Yunsuh distinguished the siblings at one glance. She went near Fatima and called her, "Fatima?" Yunsuh seemed to like the Fatima siblings. After all the loud greetings, the gang went to a nearby hotel.
The siblings were busy looking out the window to see the night view of Seoul, they wanted to learn more about where Youngho was from.
Yunsuh and Sangchun's family also decided to stay at the hotel together to get to know the people Youngho brought with him. On the way to hotel, Youngho held his nine-months-old nephew in his arms, he already melted his heart when he smiled at him. Zeynep, who was sitting next to Youngho, also loved the baby. As she spoke in Turkish and touched the baby's foot, he laughed loudly. It looked like the baby was interested in the new language he heard.
Looking at her brother Youngho, who looked more peaceful than last time she saw him, Yunsuh was relieved. Now that she saw Youngho well and met the siblings in person, Yunsuh's worries about him melted away like snow.

Of course her Korean was at the very basic level, but everyone could understand her. Her pronunciation was perfect.
Yunsuh looked at Youngho and Fatima in doubt. Now that she knew Fatima was learning Korean, she whispered to Sangchun's mom pointing at Fatima and Youngho. Sangchun's mom only smiled at them. Yunsuh even became sure about them when Fatima automatically squeezed in to sit next to Youngho at the dinner table. Youngho's excuses were useless to her, so he gave up convincing her that him and Fatima were not dating.

Youngho and the gang were at a ski resort in Gangwon-do, Korea. Even though the resort was crowded with people who came to enjoy the Christmas season, the girls from Baku enjoyed skiing anyways. In fact, they even seemed to enjoy people's attention.
In a cold day of a low temperature, 14 degree in Fahrenheit, the siblings and the Baku employees learned sledging and skiing from the ski trainer at the resort until their nosed turned red. They played all day on the basic course. Youngho followed around the siblings to make sure they were safe, actually, he was following around Fatima. In his eyes, there were too many guys snooping around Fatima, they all looked like wolves.
Even after all the fun in the day time, Karajan and the girls were relentless and headed to a night club in the evening. Youngho took the siblings to a singing room. Zeynep and Szechenyi fought over the microphone to sing and Youngho could not even touch the it, let alone the singing. Feeling like a rock star, Zeynep loved singing on the karaoke machine.
The night culture at the resort was hot as its day culture. The resort had lots of things to do and also had quality restaurants. There were people who just came to hang out in the resort, rather than to ski.
Youngho felt someone's eyes on Fatima. Well-dressed guys were peeping at him and the siblings for a while and it made Youngho uncomfortable. At last, one of the guys came toward him.
"Hey dude, who's that foreign girl next to you? We'd like to hang out with her," a guy with excessive hair wax asked.
"She's my family. I have little ones here too, are you sure you want to hang out with us?"

The guy called at his friends when Youngho did not budge. Four of them started coming closer at him, they all looked extremely rich and clueless. There was a bodyguard in a black suit behind them. They must have rich parents. All looking slim and weak, they needed a bodyguard to take care of them.

After having a blast until exhausting for two days at the ski resort, the gang came back to Seoul. Now, they only had two days left before returning to Baku. Karajan and the girls went shopping to Myeongdong and Dongdaemun market and almost swept the whole market. Meanwhile, the Fatima siblings stayed in Yunsuh's house due to a request of Sangchun's parents. they wanted to spend more time with Fatima and the siblings.
