Beacon is a massive city on the edge of the world. It's existed for hundreds of years, since The Empress consolidated her power during The Final War, when most of the world was lost to nuclear devastation. It seems like a peaceful place, but looks can often be deceiving.

Octavia and Vicky are in their early 20's and have been friends for years. They work for Vicky's aunt, a feared underground mobster named Sunny Morella. They do everything she asks, and she pays them well, but in the aftermath of a new, more personal job, things begin to spiral out of control.

Rescue Beacon?! Remian hesitated. What would happen if he called for a rescue? Would he be able to find a way for this alien civilization to cure him? Would they be friendly? Or would this gamble end up destroying both him and this Qi World?
Thinking about the people who built the Pod, Remian felt assured that they were unlikely to destroy this world off-hand. It was much more likely they would try to sell the locals their products in an Always Happy manner because Always Happy Means More Sales.
Then again, doing so would change this world forever. Was it worth it?
Everything to gain for him, but this world's destiny would be changed irreversibly. 
Oh, come on, that wreck in the Red Mists meant they were coming here already anyway, or may already be on the way searching for their fallen ship. It's possible, even likely… no, downright probable… that the Always Happy aliens would eventually come here and set up shop.
Or they could enslave the entire population of 'savage' locals and sell them off as cheap domestic labor. After all, to an advanced civilization, the low-tech people of this world could be seen as tribal barbarians, always fighting among themselves at the drop of a hat, and the most prevalent form of government this world had was outright tyranny. This was a world where might made right openly, and the greatest law was the whim of the greatest power.
Anyway. To send out the beacon or not. Just what would happen to this world if he did….?
[A local wouldn't hesitate.] Death noted in amusement. [Only you would be morally worried about consequences to everyone else. A local would only care about the benefits to himself and his own.]
[Well, I'm an alien here, you know.] Remian sighed. [If I do this, I will have to do it in a sparsely populated area, try to avoid affecting the locals as much as I can. I'll fly the Pod back to the Red Mists forest and send the signal from the shipwreck's location.]

Meanwhile, Remian bought five Green Jade Vitality Pills at a Tier 5's affiliate's discount price. He ate one immediately, washing it down with nano-filtered, quadruple-processed water from the Food Processor (though contained in a locally-fashioned stoppered gourd that tasted mildly like winter melon). 
Those pills were bought at 320,000 each. After buying more supplies, more clothes for himself and Xiao Yan and giving Xiao Yan some spending money of her own, Remian was left with a little over 210,000 Black in his bank account.
Oh, that's right. The Alchemist Guild set him up with a bank account and he even had a crystal bank card to go with it. He still carried a few thousand Black around in bank notes, though.
"Are we planning a long trip?" Xiao Yan asked as they hand-carted more and more supplies to the pod. 
"Yeah."
"How far?"
"I'm told it could take years if we go on foot. That's why we're flying."
"And how long would flying take?"
"If we were Sky Qi experts? One day will do. But I don't know how fast Sky Qi experts fly compared to the Pod, so I'm expecting anything between a day and two weeks."
"Where are we going, really?" Xiao Yan really wanted to know now.
Remian broke it to her. "We're going to the Grand Luo Continent."

Meanwhile, back on Remian's home world, from the west a fleet from Libertaria arrived. Led by a mothership the size of the Flame Emperor, the thirty ship fleet docked only briefly at Kara-Goth then made their way to the Nine Kings Range Battlefront. 
From the east, the Song Clan from the Dragon Empire sent word that they, too, were sending in a fleet. Seeing Kara-Goth overburdened with the Libertarian fleet when they arrived, Song Chen directed them to his own territory, the Bog Marshes in the Eastern Edge Region. He shared with his clan his ambitions to build the Great Docks of his dreams. 
At the same time, Tim sent a horde of Lynxmice and men over to the Blood Lands to start his Nightshade Farm. Lynxmice weren't much help in a fight against Spectres, after all. They were much better at digging holes and planting farms.
As for Remians airport and training center at Rocky Thorns… the town was built, the airport was ready and in fact, received and repaired many airships damaged in the fighting, but the training center saw no progress whatsoever.
Kara-Goth itself was ramping up heavily on mining. Arnold's Frames Workshop was given an entire hill overnight and was forced to expand exponentially with the skyrocketing demand for Combat Frames. Agility and magical barriers were the top requests of everyone ordering a Frame, and the orders were backlogged three years.
A lot of guest magi on the way to the warfront stopped by Three Pines to take a look at the Black Ruins relics, to see what they could see, learn what they could learn, and maybe take a little something worthwhile if they could take it without causing too much trouble. Unfortunately most of them simply couldn't make heads or tails of what they examined. Of those who made discoveries, one accidentally blasted himself into ashes, one ended up nailing his foot into the ground, and the third one completely disappeared and had not been seen since.
As for the war itself…
The tides turned again with a fourth Tier 8 Spectre emerged. Once again, the Tier 8 Spectres and Emperor-level defenders were matched in number. The defenders' advantage was lost. The Flame Emperor called upon the Deep Emperor to come back from the north and help out, but received no response. As for the Earth Emperor, Mal'thor-dras had only just woken up and promised to come help quickly.
Three days later, he still hadn't arrived. Reports from younger drakes coming from Dragon Lake indicated that Mal'thor-dras had not even left Dragon Lake, in fact. He seemed to have woken up very hungry and spent the entire past few days eating breakfast. At his fearsome rate of consumption, the youngsters were worried that Dragon Lake could run out of Tier 5 fish.
By then, the number of Mindy's new fightercraft built in Fal'Herim brought to the warzone for 'quality testing' reached three hundred. Had they all been fielded at the same time, Kara-Goth simply wouldn't have enough volunteer pilots to man them all. But over a hundred of them had taken damage from long-range Spectre attacks and required downtime to repair, repairs which the limited facilities at Nine Kings Mountain Range were ill-equipped to serve. With the bigger, slower airships taking to Remian's Rocky Thorns Airport and Kara-Goth's Airport for repairs, they ended up limping all the way back to Fal'Herim to get fixed.
"Too slow." Mindy shook her head every time she considered her little fighters and their performance. "The fighters are too slow. The repairs are too slow. Pilot training is too slow. Everything is too slow!"
Two days following, the Libertarian fleet arrived at the Nine Kings Range.
"Give us the area with the heaviest fighting!" Admiral Campbell requested.
"Uh… that would be the middle." George managed, trying his best not to feel overawed by the military staunchness he was sensing from all these army officers.
"You're the commander-in-chief?" Campbell's eyes narrowed.
"Um… there isn't really one." George half-wilted. Then, he brightened. "Would you like to volunteer?"
Song Chen frowned at him, and Mindy grimaced, but Campbell simply nodded as if it was all to be expected. "Certainly. I want a detailed list of military forces and a space three times the size of this tent to set up a proper command center."
"Uh… we'll see what we can do…" George hesitated.
"On second thoughts, forget it." Campbell straightened. "Lieutenant! Send out my orders! I am taking command of the entire defense force, and will be commanding from the flagship!"
Darian and Tim glanced at George. "You know the dragons won't listen to him, right?"
George gulped. "They won't?"
They really didn't.
Neither did the rest of the Wilds.
"Come on, guys! Forward, like he said! We're all on the same side, here!" George tried to coax them.
But none of them would move. In fact, George noticed a distinct trickle of wounded Wilds limping away from the warfront entirely.
"Why…? Why can't everyone just work together?" George asked. "The whole world is at stake…"
"Then where's the whole world when the danger is here?" Mindy scoffed.
"At least they're here!" George raged. "Why can't you see that? At least they came to help!"
"Thirty ships? One mothership, five cruiser-class, ten galleon-class, and fourteen frigates." Mindy shook her head. "Doesn't Libertaria have hundreds of airships? They didn't even send one hundred."
"That's a lot more than what everyone else is sending!" George spluttered.
"And I'm thinking we should stop shouldering so much of the burden and let everyone else send more before we resume the fight." Darian said darkly. "I'm tired of bleeding and seeing our subordinates die while everyone else just sits back and do nothing. Now these clowns jump in and try to boss us around… even I won't have it, much less the Wood Emperor! I'm out."
"Out?!" George gaped. "Darian! DARIAN! Come back!"
But of course, he wouldn't.

Hinatid ko sa airport ang kapatid ko. kasama yung ilan pa niyang kasamahan.

"Bring the beacon at home, kapatid."si Cathriona na maka-kaway kala mo rumarampa lang."
Oo, pinayagan ko kapatid ko na di alam ni Papa. Sana maging maayos lang siya. 'Kami na lang ang gagawa ng paraan na kunwari nasa bahay si Caroline.
Pagkatapos namin maihatid. Nakita ko si Kuya Gwapo. Si Kuya Gwapo ba yun? O mali lang ako? 
Ano naman ang gagawin noon sa airport. 
Ngunit si Kuya Gwapo talaga yung tumutulong sa akin ng di ko naman inaasahan. 
Magpapasalamat ako sa kanya. 

Ngunit ilang araw ko siyang hinahanap at hinihintay sa benck kung saan kami nagkikita at sumusulpot na lang talaga siya. Wala. Kahit nga sinadya ko talaga mag cutting kay Miss Ruby. Walang Kuya Gwapong dumatin. 
Wala din yung hinihintay kong Calling card. Napabuntong hininga na lamang ako sa huling pagkakataon na paghihintay ko sa kanya.

[Story begins around Season 3]
In the town of Beacon Hills, sitting on a couch, two boys by the names of Mieczyslaw 'Stiles' Stilinski and Scott McCall were chatting animatedly with one another. They seemed to be glancing towards the front door frequently as if they were waiting for something.
"So your cousin from Texas is coming to live here. Do you really think that's a good idea?" Scott asked cautiously.
Beacon Hill wasn't exactly a safe town to be living right now. After everything that happened with Gerald gruesomely dying, Jackson changing back from a Kanima and into a werewolf. Even now Erica and Boyd were still missing.
"Of course, it's a terrible idea," Stiles shrugged, while fidgeting slightly. "Literally everyone we know has almost died, myself included. But Alex's got no one else so he's stuck with us,"  He was obviously nervous to meet his cousin again, and wanted to make a good impression.
"Have you ever met him before?" Scott questioned.
"Yeah, a few times. My aunt has-had a farm and my dad took me there to meet Alex. He was adopted by my aunt when he was about 3. Super quiet kid. Kinda had a loner vibe to him though. Like Batman but-," Stiles rambled quickly.
"Okay, I get it, Stiles," Scott interrupted immediately knowing if he didn't stop Stiles then he would just continue to talk.
Stiles took a deep breath before speaking again, but much slower, "I'm just saying. I hope he didn't turn out be some weirdo, especially if he's gonna be sleeping in the room next to mine."
Scott seemed to be barely listening to Stiles, as he suddenly perked up and turned his head towards the door, "Your dad's car is pulling up."
Clumsily jumping to his feet, Stiles scrambled to stand by the door, "How do yo-stupid question, super hearing, got it!"
Stiles and Scott quickly peaked through the window to see a police car pull into the driveway. "Do you thinks he's gonna look ugly? Is he fat now? Maybe he has a mustache, or like a really crooked jawline-," Stiles asked, while the anticipation of knowing was basically killing him.
"Stiles, shut up," Scott stated, as if it was routine.
"Right!" Stiles nodded and pressed his face against the glass as the door of his dad's car swung open to reveal...
POV. Alex
Alex Gajos stood by himself at the airport entrance with a large suitcase and duffle bag in his hands, while a black guitar case was slung over his shoulder. He had a tired expression on his face as he impatiently tapped his foot and tried not to fidget too much.
Alex was a very tall teenager standing at 6'5 with a toned muscular build and tanned skin from working long hours on a farm. He had smooth, but thick black hair and startlingly intense cobalt eyes that practically glowed.
While he looked like an normal-for the most part- teenager, Alex also had a secret that only his adopted mother knew about him.
His big secret was that... he's a tiger. Or at least he could transform into one, and an enormous one at that.
Ever since he was a kid, Alex had noticed strange changes that seemed to be happening to his body. He gradually got inhumanly stronger and could run faster than most people could even see. His senses had been enhanced to an insane level, while he became able to transform his features into that of a rare white tiger.
Alex could change his eyes into luminescent blueish-white orbs with slits, transform his teeth, and nails into deadly white points. Although it took years of practice, he was even able to become an actual extremely dangerous tiger.
But that wasn't all, as he still had one more power that he couldn't control, or even understand. Whenever he got angry or lost control of his emotions, strange things occurred.
It was like a blue powerful wind and lightning like energy erupted from his body and caused havoc all around him.
His powers were closely guarded secret that only his adopted mother knew about. She had accepted him when she first discovered what he was. She wasn't afraid, instead, she accepted him and loved him as she always had.
It had been absolutely devastating for Alex when she died, but he knew she would want him to still live his life. So at the moment, Alex was waiting patiently for his adopted mother's brother-in-law, Noah Stilinski, to come to pick him up and bring him to his new home in Beacon Hills.
After a few more minutes, a brown police car pulled up in front of Alex. A middle aged man with graying hair wearing a police uniform and badge stepped out of the car while scanning the area before his eyes stopped on Alex.
"Alex, is that really you?" Noah Stilinski questioned as he slowly walked towards Alex.
Alex smiled slightly and waved his hand, "Hey, Uncle Noah, it's good to see you again," he greeted as Noah surprisingly brought the younger boy into a hug before stepping back. Noah still looked up at Alex in shock, and amazement that he was the same quiet little boy he knew from a few years ago.
"Damn-you really grew. You're huge! I still remember when you were just up to my waist," Noah said.
"Yeah, it's been awhile," Alex replied while stiffening a yawn. It had been an extremely physically and emotionally exhausting day for him to move away from the home he lived for most of his life.
Seeing this, Noah grabbed Alex's suitcase and waved for him to follow, "Come on, let's put your things in my trunk." Alex agreed silently as he put all of his things, including his guitar case, in the trunk of the police cruiser and then took a seat up front as Noah started the car and headed towards Beacon Hills.
An awkward silence reigned over the car as they continued to drive while occasionally speaking, but most conversation ended rather quickly.
Alex was comfortable with the silence as he was already exhausted, simply wanting to fall asleep and forget about everything else. But one thing that kept him from nodding off was the sound of his uncle's slightly frantic heartbeat and the stench of nervousness coming from him.
"So...I registered you up for Beacon Hills High School," Noah said suddenly, before looking up quickly in a panic, "Thought if your not ready yet then-."
"School's..fine," Alex interrupted, trying to calm his uncle. He quickly agreed as he needed a distraction or he might just keep wallowing in sadness. " Does Miec-Stiles goes there too?"
"Yep, Stiles goes there as far as I'm aware," Noah sighed tiredly as he thought of his son, "You two should be in the same grade, so he'll help you if needed it."
"I never went to school before," Alex added quickly. He was nervous at the thought of going to an actual school.
"Oh, you were homeschooled, right?" Noah asked, remembering his sister-in-law mentioning that little tibet to him a few years ago.
Alex cringed slightly before answering, "Unfortunately." He had knew that when his powers and the changes began, that going to school wouldn't be possible. So his adopted mother taught him while he learned to control his emotions and abilities by himself.
"I sure you'll be fine. If not you still have Stiles," Noah smiled, before realizing just what Stiles was like, "...Do try your best to make friends. Maybe join a sport, or club."
"What does Stiles play?"
"Lacrosse. I pretty sure he's still on the team," Noah answered uncertainly.
"That could be fun," Alex muttered and leaned back in his seat. He had never played a sport before, as his strength and speed gave him an overwhelming advantage when he was younger. But that was before he could control it. So now, he might actually get the chance to play if he kept control of himself.
For the rest of the ride, Noah spoke briefly about Beacon Hills and tried to explain everything he could. He spoke about the restaurants and places that teenager usually hung out. 
Although he was grateful for what his uncle was trying to do, Alex only half-listened but sat up when he realized they were pulling into a driveway.
"And we here, home sweet home," Noah announced as he stopped the engine and turned to face Alex, "I know that you've been through a lot, son. I just want you to know...I'm here if you ever need to talk. I know what... losing someone is like. It's a hard thing to go through alone."
Alex smiled softly as he saw how his uncle was trying his best to reach out and help him through this difficult times, "Thank you, it means alot. I'll let you know."
"Ahem-..let's head on in, I'm sure Stiles in dying to see you again," Noah cleared his throat and quickly got out of the car.
Following his lead, Alex leaped out of the car and grabbed his bags while turning towards the Stilinski household, but froze as he smelt something...odd in the air. It didn't smell like anything he's every smelt before. Focusing his senses, he swerved his head around until he stopped at the house in front of him. He could hear two distinct heartbeats: one that sounded slightly fast, and another that sounded completely different altogether.
Walking towards the house, Noah opened the door for Alex to reveal two teenager boys standing awkwardly in the front of them. 
One of the boys had pale skin with black hair, while the other was more tanned and had an oddly crooked jawline.
Alex immediately recognized the pale boy to be his cousin, Stiles, as he was still the same kid he knew, only slightly taller now. Though he definitely didn't know the other boy, but quickly realized that he was the source of the strange odor.
"Oh, your here, Scott, that's great. This is my nephew, Alex. He's gonna be staying with us," Noah introduced them, seeing as Alex didn't have any friends it would be good if he got to know some people in town.
"Y-yeah, nice to meet you," Scott greeted slowly, while staring at Alex with his head slightly tilted . He seemed confused by something.
"You as well," Alex replied while staring at Scott, trying to figure out why he smelt so strange. While Alex and Scott were in a intense staring match, a pale face suddenly popped up in Alex's vision blocking Scott from his sights.
"...So you got really tall," Stiles said suddenly with a large smile as he stared up at a Alex.

Alex was an orphan until the day he was taken in by a kind woman. Even with his... strange qualities, the woman still cared for him and gave him a home. So when the day she passed away, Alex was heartbroken and lost until he learned that the woman had family.

The woman had a sister, who sadly passed away, but her nephew and brother-in-law were still alive. As he was still a minor, Alex had no one else to turn to but them. Luckily they were willing to take him in as he was sorta of family.

So this of the story of Alex moving to Beacon Hills to live with the Stilinski’s.

"Cesar, where the fuck dd you find this guy?" Raul asked his brother as the newly formed crew was walking down the street towards the Airport.

"Believe it or not he found me. He's the reason I got here. If me and Miranda would have come by ourselves, I don't think we would have made" Cesar replied 

"Wait. Who's Miranda?" Raul asked with a sly smirk on his face 
Cesar looked at his little brother with big smile "mi esposa (my wife), I met her five years after I left home. We have two beautiful children together" 

Raul stopped and his went wide shock and excitement all wrapped in one "Mierda! Pensé que no podías tener hijos? Son tuyos?!"
(Bullshit! I thought you couldn't have children? Are they yours?)

Cesar smacked his brother in the head "Por supuesto! nos hicimos una prueba ... (Of course! We did a test...)" Raul just laughed and pulled his brother into big hug and swung him around in joy.


Bayek turned and was about to blow a fuse "cierra tu maldita boca (Shut your damn mouths). You can bond when this shit is over."

Raul put his brother down and they straightened. When the crew got in to range of the horde. April broke into a build and the team went to the roof to see what the situation at the airport really was.
"Damn this if fucked up" Bayek muttered. From on top of the roof. Bayek could clearly the Airport surrounded by walkers. By this time, sun was down and the lights at the airport did wonders for the people's survival. It literal attracted every walker in the city.

"So, does anyone know why the lights on at night is a very bad thing?" Bayek looked at the soldiers and they didn't have a clue

"I thought so. Look our best way in is the runway. There's a lot of walkers but the airport is so big completely surrounding it, kind of thins their ranks. So, I suggest a big fuck bomb. But we need to kill the lights in the airport if we want to actually attract walkers." Bayek explained

"The captain would never go for that. All he does is kill infected people and  send the healthy ones to get more food for him. Now that the virus is airborne, he's even crazier" A soldier explained. Her words grabbed the attention of Bayek, April, and Cesar

"What did you say?"
"They virus is airborne. You guys didn't know" she repeated herself
"And why do you think the virus is Airborne?" Bayek inquired

The soldier began to tale Bayek and his people everything that's been happening over the past couple of weeks. The non-bit infected, execution of sick because of hysteria, the experiments the Doctor(Major) was conducting on the non-bit infected.

"We need to get in there now before more people die, and any chance of humanities survival is snuffed out" Bayek was visibly agitated, and the soldiers were confused. Bayek didn't give a rat ass about the people in their, but he wanted the people evolving, he needed to figure just exactly how the advanced evolution worked.

Raul finally spoke up "I'm all for drawing the walkers away, my family is in there. And I'll do anything to give them a fighting chance. But going in there isn't an option, we can all be infected, and I don't want to give it to them"

"Are you stupid? The virus isn't airborne, we are the virus. All of us are infected. How do you think the outbreak happened. Patient Zero was a dead man, who came back to life. What ever it is, is in us and is just waiting to be activated. Those people in there that are "sick" and getting put down, aren't turning into walkers. That's their bodies making them healthier and stronger. If you don't go in there and get your family. They will die eventually"

Raul and the rest of the soldiers were speechless, everything Bayek had said was the exact opposite of what the doctors had said. And that meant if one of those seniors died in their sleep at any point, they could have an outbreak from within the hospital.

"So, the virus didn't come birds?"
"fuck no" Bayek and his people replied in unison

"I..I have another way in… If my brother believes you that's good enough for me… There's a tunnel that leads to the basement…" Raul told everyone about the service tunnel and the hatch that led to the sewers. It was supposed to be an escape route if he didn't make it back and his family had to escape the soldiers.

When he was finished the whole crew moved out and walked straight to the airport from the sewers.  Bayek was vigilant, he knew exactly what liked to hide in the sewers. When the crew made it to the airport, they entered from the service tunnel. It was unguarded just as Raul said it would be.

"Go do what y'alls have to do. Be back as soon as possible. If you're still in here after I leave. I promises you're all going to die down here. " Bayek grabbed April and the soldier and ran off while the rest of the crew scramble to handle their business. 

"Where are the labs. Where they do all of their experiments on the non-bit infected." Bayek looked at the soldier with a serious face.

"Upper level,  A gates. " She answered
"Good" Bayek picked April and the soldier up again before speeding to the upper levels. Once they were there. It was hard for Lucien too blend in. He was the only person in a Marine uniform. And got a lot of looks from men and woman not in uniform that he could tell were jarheads through and through.

"What's your Captain's name and what's your unit?" Bayek asked the soldier
"Rick Hanover. 256th  Calvary. Were station at the national guard base across the way." She replied

"Battalion commander and first sergeant? And their status" Bayek replied
"Nathan Stewart and Jim Langley. Status unknown."

As soon as the soldier finished, her captain approached them with his Lieutenants, with weapons drawn. Every marine out of uniform took a step closer towards Bayek "Stand fast" He shouted, Captain Hanover looked around and  saw faces he hadn't noticed before, Marines laying low. Because anybody in their right minds knew Marines didn't take orders from anyone except Marines.

My MC find's himself to be the last believer of a dying Goddess. Rewarded for his loyalty he is granted another life... And then some.

Huo Peng stealthily followed behind an European. He mentally prepared himself each time the European so much as quivered. Half an hour ago, he almost lost track of the man. He managed to catch up with him again purely because he was familiar with the streets. No matter what, he could not make the same mistake again.

Just like his colleagues, Huo Peng was originally uninterested in the operation. According to their leader, they had received orders out of nowhere. This was no small matter – he was helping other departments with their work.

He typically only helped others when he felt like it. What’s more, he heard from the previous group how foolish these foreigners were. They couldn’t differentiate one Chinese from the next – just like the Chinese couldn’t differentiate one Caucasian from the next.

Yet, this man in front of him was different.

Whether consciously or subconsciously, he had superb anti-tracking skills. Huo Peng was thankful to have had such a skillful teacher. Otherwise, he would have lost the man a long time ago, and he would have thought it was accidental.

At that moment, his target was entering a cab. Huo Peng waited for a moment before he hailed one for himself. “Follow that car in front.”

The driver fantasized about being in a car chase, just like the ones in American films. An hour later, Huo Peng found himself looking back at the diminishing buildings. He asked the driver, “Sir, where does this road lead to?”

“The airport, I suppose. Or perhaps the suburbs.”

Huo Peng repeated the target’s information in his head. He was 48 years old; born in Sao Paulo, Brazil; a baker by profession. He was here for a vacation.

A vacation? He counted one round around Nanjing’s streets as a vacation? He immediately reported back to his department, “Frog, help me look Smith up. Did this Bruce book a flight for today?”
“He just booked one. He’s bound for Shanghai at 3 pm today.”

“Impossible.” Huo Peng shook his head. Something was not right. There were many places of interest around Nanjing. A foreigner on vacation would not merely walk one round around Nanjing before flying to Shanghai. This wasn’t typical of a visitor to China.

Maybe this Mr. Bruce was just unfamiliar with China. Huo Peng tried to convince himself of this, but said, “Please inform our colleagues at the airport to keep their eyes on this Bruce Smith.”

Rolin used a portion of his resources to track these hundred-odd foreigners. However, he was mainly reliant on the conversations from the police network to make a judgment. His attention was captured when Huo Peng said the word “airport”.

It was impossible to use energy to retain this Mr. Bruce. The base could only work within a specific area around the base. Outside the area, the energy chain only worked to minimize the energy loss. It could not expend energy. To put it more accurately, the energy chain could transport pure energy, while the base was less capable of transforming energy. This explained why the base could use crude oil while the energy chain could only transport power.

In fact, Huang Xuan had no intention to capture Bruce. He sat quietly in his house. Through the airport’s surveillance cameras, he saw Bruce calmly board the airplane with everything prepared.

Just as planned, the time traveler disguising as Bruce took out the last of his high-energy biological bombs. He planted one of them beside the control tower of the terminal. He planted the other in the terminal near the hangar.

The airplane was due for take-off soon. Bruce knocked Huo Peng unconscious and left him in the restroom near the first bomb that he planted. He did not care where Huo Peng came from. As long as he could control the base, he would be able to contact his own space base. When he did, he would be back on track again.

Bruce leaned comfortably against the seat. Once the two bombs, which originated from higher-level time and space, were detonated, half of the airport would burst into flames. Then, the airplane would lose contact with the control tower. Nobody would care where the airplane was headed for two hours.

Two hours was more than enough.

Before Bruce boarded the plane, Rolin had already informed Huang Xuan. However, Huang Xuan did not inform his older uncle, even as the plane took off.

He was not confident of persuading his older uncle to arrest the lawful foreigner. Moreover, it was highly likely that the traveler would be able to escape from the clueless policemen.

Everything was much simpler on the plane.

Huang Xuan rushed down to the airport. The first thing he did on arriving was to remove the two bombs that the traveler planted. He was a complete novice at this. While he did tremble, he successfully removed the bombs.

They were two yellow objects, each as big as a fingernail. According to Rolin, they were standard biological bombs designed by the management. They were capable of blowing half of the airport’s terminal into pieces. This way, not only would he be able to take control of the base, but he would also be able to create a vigorous oscillation which would grant him access to the passage.
It was a pity that his plan was bound to fail.

It is said that one strong man can defeat ten skillful men. The traveler did not have the benefit of time, location or people. He was in another plane and possessed far less energy than others. He wasn’t going to succeed, especially after losing his supplies. If he did, he would probably be featured in the new spatial and temporal management teaching materials.

As it was, the only people who featured in the teaching materials were excellent victors and foolish failures.

There was no room for the suspense of war.

Maybe it was unfair to put it that way. In actual fact, Bruce did have a chance to escape. When the bombs in the airport didn’t explode, he already had a premonition. However, he was over-confident.
He had successfully stolen the aircraft and arrived at his destination. Yet, he couldn’t use his secret key. By that time, it was too late.

Zhang Shujie’s instincts were extremely useful. The moment he found out that the A354 aircraft had been stolen, he retrieved the culprit’s personal information. This, in turn, was provided by the police officers who had been tracking Bruce.

Thanks to Rolin’s interference, the plane’s performance began to deteriorate. However, by doing so, he had consumed several million kWh of energy.

The plane slowly began to land in Nanjing airport.

Huang Xuan stood in the waiting area in silence. He was heavily guarded by armed policemen.
Upstairs, Zhang Shujie stared at the Airbus in the night sky with a solemn expression. There were 128 passengers on board. Among them, 28 were foreigners, and 4 were Taiwanese. In addition, there was a diplomat and three government officials. The policemen had already cordoned off the area. Nobody expected anyone on the plane to voluntarily step out.

What was to follow was probably the same old process of negotiation, threat, more negotiation, and physical restraint. Zhang Shujie sighed. He was in a position of higher authority. While he had no say in the management of the airport nor the security of the aircraft, he was the one who had provided valuable information to the special forces. He had already been commended by Beijing for this. There were hundreds of passengers onboard the aircraft. Had he attempted to resolve the conflict by force, tens of innocent passengers could have been injured, or even have lost their lives. He had reviewed the numbers countless times in his office. However, coming face-to-face with the reality felt different.

Huang Xuan was slightly nervous. Rolin attempted to comfort him, saying that the way the policemen were arranged would ensure they wouldn’t even miss a mouse. However, he still felt uneasy. This was his first time meeting a time traveler after all.

His older uncle forbade him from saying a word at the scene. He had to resort to begging his older uncle before he allowed him to so much as see the plane up close.

Huang Xuan reached into his shirt and clutched the energy chain hanging around his neck. Apart from absorbing energy, Rolin had no use for it. It couldn’t minimize his energy consumption. However, even this little contribution of energy was going to be useful here.

“Still no news?” the leader of the special forces, Xiao Zhong, asked coolly.

“None,” his assistant replied, as he shook his head and continued to wait by his phone.

“He has no requests, and he rejected negotiation,” Xiao Zhong muttered to himself. Turning to glance at Zhang Shujie, he asked, “Old Zhang, what do you think? You’re the most experienced here.”

Zhang Shujie raised his eyes and looked at the telephone on the table. He said, “He seems to belong to an organization.”

“Hmm?”

“Since he belongs to an organization, he likely has a motive. Let’s persist, try to engage in negotiation with him.”

His advice was of no use. Xiao Zhong shook his head in disappointment. By the looks of things, negotiation was not going to solve the problem.

They had to quickly find a resolution.

From where Huang Xuan was standing, he could see over a hundred policemen. The muzzles of their guns blended in with the night sky. Further down, he could see the roads filled with cars of all types. The glaring lights from the police cars and ambulances gave people a sense of unease.

The lights near the runway were dimmer. Huang Xuan could only make out silhouettes. Just when he thought it was going to be a sluggish night, the lights in the airport suddenly went out. The runway turned into a sea of darkness. The stars in the sky suddenly seemed much brighter.

16 commandos split into three paths; one group headed for the passenger’s cargo door and two groups each headed for the exits on the wings.

The scratching of feet against concrete sounded. The waning moon resembled a half-opened eye. To the majority of the people in the airport, the crescent moon was an eyesore.

As the commandos approached the aircraft, their leader made a hand signal. His men understood and moved to their respective positions. At that critical moment…

The door squeaked open, and a hoard of passengers stampeded out of the aircraft. In the darkness, they navigated themselves off the long and narrow runway and into the airport.
The lonely airport was suddenly filled with noise.

The riot police readied themselves. Police officers were shouting through their loudhailers, trying desperately to organize the crowd. The lights near the runway were switched on and becoming brighter. The beam of the searchlight constantly rotated.

Only two people were running toward the waiting area. With two pops, they collapsed onto the ground.

Everybody tensed up.

If Rolin weren’t there, the traveler could have escaped all of his captors. He could have escaped from the airport and gone to the outskirts of the city. He could have had more chances to create spatial and temporal oscillations.

Yet, “ifs” are reserved for things that didn’t happen. Rolin took control of the airport’s searchlight and shone it on the traveler. Two policemen subconsciously ran in that direction but were shot down in an instant. The crowd at the scene became more agitated.

The searchlight followed the traveler. Xiao Zhong clapped loudly and said to Zhang Shujie, “Is that your subordinate? Reward him!” 




Many people felt frustrated by the lack of knowledge after time travel.

Many took their laptops with them during time travel and fell into an awkward situation with deficient electricity.

Many others took the troops with them and found that there were only logistics of 19th century.

Countless predecessors had died on the way, numerous on the land of another world. 

A large number of people had achieved both success and fame after time travel, but failed to find the way back home.

Nowadays, a lot of colleges and universities are rushing about, looking for sponsorship; many institutions are drifting along the wave of bank notes; a host of experts’ and professors’ subjects have been brought to a halt  because they are short of funds.

There is a solution to every problem.

The nearest Seat system with a proper spacedock for refitting was Kolosti Minor. The crew was a bit surprised to hear that the whole fleet would be going in for a refit, and the harvesting of slaves was going to have a slight delay. It was easy enough for the astropaths serving the ships to get the messages off, all nice and proper coming from the captains and the Marquis.

 Four days in the Warp later, we were disgorged into the Kolosti Minor system, with the great spacedocks that ringed the planet and serviced hundreds of major ships and thousands of lesser ones at any one time.

 Some of the girls had made it to Crown and Throneworlds by now, of course, so seeing space stations that ringed an entire planet wasn't exactly new, but it was the first time I was seeing it with my own eyes. Did it compare to an ecumenopolis at the heart of Gloom, covering the inside of a sphere larger than Tellus, with its own dying sun bound up in the middle and floating docks with thousands of butterfly-hulled drow ships orbiting around it?

 Well, I suppose in its own way it did. After all, every Seat world had a major orbital presence like this. A Throne world would supplement it with several moon-sized fortresses and orbital arcologies, at the very least. The elvar races had style and chic down cold, but they simply didn't have the presence, resources, or population to do this sort of thing anymore. Likely the only megastructures they had remaining were their Starhome shipworlds...

 So, yay humanity?

 Negotiations to dock were fairly smooth, and if the operators of the station were shocked that all of de Krov's ships were coming in, as long as he paid, they didn't care. They were given fairly remote docking positions near one another, as requested.

 I gave some final orders, and Chalice popped from one ship to the next to execute a few temporary Rift withdrawals, before I headed down to the planet below.

 Teleportation outside atmospheres has a lot more range than inside them, less mass in the way mucking things up. I could reach all the way from high orbit to low orbit with a Linejump variant, putting me right at the edge of atmosphere, and then from the atmosphere to the ground, zeroing in on my destination.

 The city had an Interdiction field up to stop incoming teleporters and dimensional rifts, of course, but that just meant I had to fall a couple miles to get where I wanted to go. It was a friendly world environment-wise, so the city didn't have a default Dome, and I could plunge right into the city without too much problem, using my hair to remain mostly invisible and Vampire's Veil to flummox any sensors that might pick me up.

 Naturally I had downloaded the layout of the city of Kolosti Prime from the station's Boole. The Castle and the Dungeon were, as ever, located former atop the latter, Coronals and Umbrals bound together, light and dark.

 They weren't my destination just yet, but I did mark the location. No, I was going to someplace close by... namely, the Beacon, and all the astropaths working there.

 There were a few curious heads that turned as I swooped down from out of the sky, but there were minor psions all over the place here, and anti-grav was a thing, so turned heads was all the attention I got for a moment.

 "Hi there!" I smiled cheerfully. "Standard Beacon build, astropaths off to the right?" I asked one of the gawkers. I had all the right dominating body language and accent, and he folded haplessly.

 "Yes, ma'am," he replied quickly. Just the one sentence indicated I had been in a lot of astropath buildings, meaning a traveler, meaning money, and that I was here to spend it. Not someone to get in the way of.

 "Thank you!" I waved over my head, he got to look at my ass as I strolled away, and I smiled at what was to come.

 "You... this..." 

 The manager of the Astropath Guild was at a loss for words. They ran the service of interstellar message-sending off residual energy from the Beacon, guided by Mentats who were paid very well for the service... and Geased into discretion, too. Remembering and reading other people's mail could be very dangerous, after all.

 But I had just placed a REALLY big order, and caught him completely off-guard.

 "We... we don't have the capacity to fill an order of this size right now," he admitted, beads of sweat starting to drop off his head.

 I put something on the desk, touched it. Lights danced and spun together, forming a pair of symbols that, while often associated, were rarely often seen back to back like this.

 "You need to correct what you are saying," I replied shortly, as his eyes bulged. "What you mean to say is... 'I have no choice but to send all this out as fast as possible, and I will do whatever it takes to do so... regardless of the cost.'"

 He looked at me as I leaned forwards, and suddenly his eyes were rather frantic. "Three day's pay for anyone and everyone who participates in sending this out. If you can get it all done in under two hours, double that."

 His eyes kind of went wild. "Let-let me make an emergency summons!" he sort of squeaked, the combination of a week's pay and the Twilight Seal lighting some fusion fire under him. He took the message and fairly sprinted away.

 Not five minutes later a whole bunch of Beacon psions, their polygon symbols on their foreheads, started pouring into the Beacon. I sat down on a comfy chair in the corner as the static tension in the air began to increase remarkably, and I knew that messages were going off nonstop as fast as they possibly could, all over the galaxy.

 The destinations of those messages included every single Castle and Dungeon in the Empire, as well as every Mentat Guild tower, and every psion inside them; every Imperial Legionnaire HQ of any size, every Imperial Fleet Station, every megacorp office, and every primary planetary or larger governmental entity.

 Dumping it into the local Boole was something I did myself, and I was sure interested parties elsewhere would start it proliferating.

 That was... a lot of mail going out. Those Beacon psions behind me were Focusing and releasing as fast as they could to get the bonus and the mail out as fast as possible, while I busied myself sending it to all the local powers casually.

 The mail I was sending was naturally the Care Package for Vivic runework. Unless the Warp Gods could conjure up a galaxy-wide Warpstorm once again, this was going to get out to those parties that could use it and would be interested in employing it.

 It was also going out under Twilight Order Seal. I smirked to myself at the cost of this level of mail going out. The Orders probably weren't going to like it when they got the bill, which they would be alerted to at any time now. Someone using Twilight Seal authorization without primary clearance from the local Castle and Dungeon was definitely going to be a Person of Interest.

 I laughed despite myself when the manager came back, his face an interesting shade of red, sweating, but his eyes very big and feverish.

 After all, I had just set a one-day record for the number of astropathic messages going out, especially in peace time. His quarterly earnings report was going to look just wonderful!

 "We should be finished up with the messages in approximately forty-three minutes, my Lady!" he reported to me, most obsequiously. 

 "Wonderful!" I pointed to the workers. "I'll be asking them if they got their six day bonus a week from now. If they haven't, I'm going to come back here and remove your head from your shoulders, okay?"

 He swallowed despite himself at how casually I said that... and he realized I was absolutely going to do just that.

 "I will make sure they are fairly recompensed for their time!" he said righteously, and his dreams of siphoning off thousands of extra credits for his own use were politely put away in favor of surviving an extra day.

 "Excellent! Take care of yourself now!"

 "Don't move!"

 They came out of holo-cloaks to surround me while I was taking a drink on the veranda while I futzed with the Boole. After all, I had some accounts to set up. The waitress coming with the drinks was badly startled, and I just waved her in, despite the guy in hardsuits with firepower all aimed at me.

 "One drink for all six of them," I pointed out airily to her, and the Coronal, Umbran, and four lads on their Striker team suddenly looked kind of wrong-footed as the greatly daring (and big tip coming) waitress glided in, gave each of them a tall cocktail with a couple wild fruits hanging on it and ornamental straw, and quickly glided away as if she'd seen it all before.

 I waved at the lady knight and male op, gesturing them to seats across from me. They looked at one another, wondered what they'd done wrong, while their spec ops boys carefully lowered their guns and wondered what to do with the drinks in their hands.

 "Who," the woman asked directly, her eyes as sharp as a duelist, "are you? A nymphal who dares bill the Orders for a mass astropathic sending on that scale..."

 I held up two fingers, reached into my vest pocket slooowly, and pulled out a black square very obviously. I set it on the glass table, and holos spun and psychoactive lights reached up and formed the back-to-back symbols of the Knights Coronal and the Order of the Fallen Moon.

 "Do you know what this is?" I asked archly, and before they could respond I went on, "Do you know what happens to someone who is not authorized to handle one, does so? If you don't, please feel free to confiscate it." I smiled and sat back, and watched their expressions move around as they stared at the symbols.

 The man responded first. "A Twilight Seal authorization is only issued by an Umbral Duke and a Coronal Duke in tandem. That is a very high level of trust."

 "Oh, you got that right," I agreed, as said Dukes laughed in the back of my head. "Although I would add in 'a very high level of pay', too."

 The knight's face sank. "Are you aware of just how much a mass astropathic message of that scale cost?" she demanded.

 I looked up, calculated visibly, carried the one... "Yes," I stated calmly. "After preliminary calculations of known Castles and Dungeons, Mentat towers, Legion HQ's, Fleet Bases, planetary governments, and certain businesses of interest, along with the fact Astropath rates are pretty bloody identical throughout the galaxy, I daresay I knew the cost within a million credits."

 That shut them both up. A million was the rounding error, after all.

 "And... the sending of this message was part of your Twilight Seal?" the Umbran went on, his eyes sharp.

 I clapped my hands. "Very good! Naturally, the second part involves the local Dukes Twilight. How quickly can you get me in to see them?" Which really meant, 'Escort me to see them now, you twats. I'm under Seal, and am not going to tell you anything about the hundreds of billions of your credits I just spent.'

 Some other Dukes had sent me here. Obviously, I came with their trust. The dame and the op looked at one another, sighed despite themselves, and looked at me. "Come with us, then."

 "After they finish their drinks." I waved at the shooters. "Getting your Strikers all hot and bothered for nothing, they at least earned a drink out of this."

 Both of them just glared at me, and I smiled back. The guys in the hardsuits cautiously put up their visors and grabbed for the fruity drinks sitting close by...

A purger hit the body of the bus causing the loud noise. Several people in the bus were screaming in surprise. The driver stepped on the gas, speeding up. The purger ran after the bus, trying to catch up, however, in the end, it couldn't keep up with the speed of the bus. We left it far behing until it's out of our sight after we made a turn.
     
     Now that we're free from the purger, I got the chance to see all the passengers of this bus. There were a lot of good looking men and women here. I thought I saw some of them from somewhere before. The woman who told me to get on the bus earlier was particularly familiar.
     
     One of the passengers, a handsome and masculine-looking man, said something to the familiar woman. His tone told me that he wasn't pleased with something. He was pretty loud so I could hear it clearly, plus he was looking at me with annoyance written all over his face. The familiar woman didn't say anything to him. 
     
     Another woman, with short hair, large eyes and bright red lips, no less pretty than the familiar woman, said something with cold voice toward that first woman but her eyes sometimes glanced at me. It didn't take a genius to guess that I was the object of her words.
     
     The handsome man was not the only one ignored by the familiar woman, the short hair woman was ignored too. It seemed to me they had had this conversation before. She, instead, turned to me and said something to me. Too bad it was in Korean.
     
     I told her, "I don't understand Korean well. Can you speak English or Chinese?"
     
     "I see. So you're not Korean?" The woman said in perfect English. Her pronunciation was far better than mine.
     
     "Phineas Shi. I'm Chinese. I came here last monday for work. Thanks for stopping to pick me up," I introduced myself. Since we're face to face, I couldn't help admiring her beauty.
     
     "Jeong Yewon. And you're welcome," She held out her hand.
     
     Jeong Yewon? That name sounded very familiar. Where did I hear it? We shook hands as we greeted each other. She had a really soft hand. When she smiled, it suddenly came to me. She was a famous singer and actor. She was featured in many commercials, that's how I saw her. She was even more beautiful in person and, looking at her from such distance, I was pretty sure she wasn't wearing any make up.
     
     Then I looked around and found out why I felt I've seen several of those faces. Some of them were South Korea celebrities. Not everyone were easily recognizable without make up but Jeong Yewon and probably a couple others, which I didn't know their names of, were.
     
     "Where are you heading?" I asked.
     
     "We heard about our military setting up base at Incheon so we're going to evacuate there," she said.
     
     "Military base? I'm going to the airport. I want to go back to my country," I was glad to hear that they were going the same way I planned to.
     
     Now, if the military really held ground at Incheon, there could be a possibility for me to return home. 
     
     This reminded me of the map shown by Lt. Yoon yesterday. There was so much new land emerged during the change and that changed our world landscape tremendously. The sea between Korea Peninsula and China had most of it covered with lands now. Even without a plane, I could probably cross it on foot. 
     
     However, who would be crazy enough to cross it on foot? Well, if I had to, I would. The only thing making my decision difficult was the fact that, on the picture sent by the American satellite, those new lands had too many white dots. Those white dots signified lights which in turn signified lives. Not human obviously.
     
     "I don't know whether the airport is still working or not, but you're welcome to join us to Incheon," Jeong Yewon said. 
     
     She was obviously one of the most senior celebrity here. I guessed it was her who decided to pick me up, not the driver. It's not that without this bus I wouldn't be able to reach Incheon by myself but it was certainly a whole lot easier. She had my gratitude for that.
     
     "Thank you."
     
     Jeong Yewon nodded with a light smile.
     
     'Gosh, she's really pretty,' I thought. From all the women I saw in my life, only Susan could compete with her.
     
     I didn't know her background. I didn't know whether she had family or loved ones that she failed to get connected to. Whatever her situation was, she was handling it pretty well. She was even kind enough to stop for a stranger like me. Later, I found out that I wasn't the only one picked up during this trip.
     
     That was probably why that masculine-looking man and the short hair pretty girl were berrating her.
     
     The other celebrities were grouped together and didn't mingle with us. Though except for the two aforementioned people, they weren't hostile. They're probably finding comfort among the people they were familiar with. Well, since I couldn't speak Korean it was no big deal for me that we did not converse at all.
     
     Suddenly the bus stopped.
     
     All of us stood up, wondering what happened. Jeong Yewon and a couple others went to the driver. From where I sat, I could see that the first bus in front of us had stopped and, because of that, us too. As for the reason? I didn't know.
     
     Our driver was agitated and said something. I could guess that he was worried. Well, I would be too. The buses were loud vehicles and in the surrounding area there was nothing producing sound but us. We were like a beacon looking for unwanted attention.
     
     We saw the people from the first bus started to get off while still staying close together. Someone approached our bus and said something. The faces of the people in my bus were changing. They paleness comparable to white paper.
     
     Jeong Yewon said to me, "The road is blocked. We have to continue on foot."
     
     While the original passengers of this bus were hesitating, me and others who hitchhiked weren't. We got up and immediately get off the bus. After seeing us getting off, the rest followed reluctantly.
     
     We grouped up with people from the first bus. Apparently, the first bus consisted of all people I didn't recognize at all. If they're celebrities, then they aren't famous enough for me to recognize. Two of them were talking through a translator. So, they're unable to speak Korean too.
     
     "You don't know who they are? That one is Traikun Praves and that one is Davi Brito," a man told me. He was one of the people who mingled only within the group of celebrities before. "Traikun is the most famous Muay Thai expert. Davi is an American-Brazilian Jiu-jitsu fighter. I guess you're like me. I didn't know them before either." 
     
     "I see," I said.
     
     Seeing my expression, this good looking man introduced himself, "I think you don't know me either. I'm Seo Daho. I used to be a singer, until the day before yesterday."
     
     "Ah, I've heard of you. You are very famous. I'm Phineas Shi," I introduced myself in return.
     
     Seo Daho laughed, "I'm only a bit well known in South Korea."
     
     I told him, "Believe me, if someone like me heard of you, it means you have some fame in China too."
     
     Seo Daho smiled modestly.
     
     "They're all participants of that fighting competition. We're all staying at the same hotel when this happen," Jeong Yewon let me know about Traikun, Davi and the rest.
     
     "They're really strong. We're safe because of them," Seo Daho added.
     
     I agreed. Having more than thirty able-bodied fighting force at the same place really made a difference. I didn't think all of them were top fighters. From the look of it, probably only about ten of them were the fighters who joined the martial competition, while the rest were bodyguards or trainers or some other capacity. Nevertheless, even the weakest of them should have more fighting experience than me. In other words, every single one of them was like John Wick to the old me. There's no need to mention pencil, they could kill me with a band-aid. Fortunately, they didn't bring their car nor dog here.
     
     Seeing that Traikun and Davi were the two who were always consulted it seemed to me those two must have somehow shown their capabilities in combat and thus their words were deemed important by everyone.
     
     At this time I was thinking whether I should leave the group and travel alone. I was silently considering.
     
     Travel on foot? A few of them might have the stamina to reach Incheon but how about others? How could a large group like this avoid encountering the purgers? They didn't see what happened at the bridge. A force of purgers capable of driving back the military, which had heavy armor and artilery, was a tremendous force far beyond a mere few fighters could face.
     
     Jeong Yewon patted my arm, "Let's go. Stay close in our group. Don't stray away."
     
     I looked at the woman, amazed. She must've known the difficulty to survive in such a large group. She, herself, must have difficulty on her own. However, despite all this she still tried to look after others. Even her expression was still steady and calm. That made me ashamed for thinking about leaving her and this group. I banished my thought of leaving and walked together with the celebrity group.
     
     The fighters dispersed themselves around our group. Some were on the front, some on the rear, while the rest divided on both of our planks. I saw that every one of them carry weapon. Of course they had weapon, it make more sense than fighting monsters with tough claws empty handed.
     
     We moved through the road with haste. No one dared to tarry. Everyone was conscious enough of the situation and that the empty roads were frightening. 
     
     I didn't think every building, every place we passed were all devoid of human however the people were probably in hiding and didn't dare to come out. Who in the world would be crazy enough to roam around when there were savage monsters prowling? 
     
     At one point of time a couple came out of their hiding places and joined us. No one rejected them. Their appearances were wretched enough to generate pity even from the heartless.
     
     Not long after that, loud roar was heard. Apparently the couple was a purger's target. It came out of the same building as the couple and directly sped up to our direction.
     
     Three people from our side nearest to the building came out to meet the purger. All three of them had each brought out their weapon. The purger was surrounded. It showed no fear at all.
     
     This was the thing I liked and, at the same time, hated the most about them. The purger was all brawn and no brain. We greatly outnumbered this lone purger but it just charged at us without the slightest doubt. Alone, their fearlessness will gave us an advantage. In large group, however, the same fearlessness would make them extremely dangerous. They would be strong enough to actually defeat a trained military force.
     
     Dang!
     
     The claws of the purger met with the weapons of two people. I could see the two fighters were having trouble. They were slightly thrown back, their hands were visibly trembling from the impact. With its claw blocked by two people the purger had no time to adjust nor escape from the attack of the third fighter.
     
     The third fighter's knife almost reached the chest of the purger when the monster's feet flew and kicked that third fighter. Fortunately the fighter was nimble enough to dodge the kick. Unfortunately, that meant he failed to stab the purger.
     
     Two more fighters came out. Both were armed with swords. The purger knew they were coming, at the same time the first and second fighters had come back too. Now it was surrounded. The fighters were attacking with all their might. Despite the attacks being uncoordinated, they were delivered ferociously. This lone purger had no way to avoid the incoming attacks. Immediately, wounds began appearing on its body. It roared in anger and swinging its arms wildly. Four fighters were working together blocking its attacks while the fifth, the knife holder, managed to position himself behind the monster. With a focused thrust, the knife went through the throat, killing the purger.
     
     Everyone was relieved. But not for long because another purger had appeared.
     
     "Kreeeee!"
     
     The purger came out from the building in front of us. It was facing directly to Traikun and Davi, who were the vanguards with another fighter.
     
     Traikun, Davi and the third person said something to each other. In the mean time, the purger was advancing at them swiftly. Traikun and Davi were both holding some kind of metal stick. The third fighter was holding a medium size knife. I guessed they were using the same tactics as the previous group.
     
     This second purger was also blocked, just like the first one, however the outcome was different this round. Both Traikun and Davi weren't thrown back. The two of them held their own pretty well. I saw, for the first time, the difference of strength shown by these two top fighters. Granted they both used weapon and two hands to handle each arm swing of the purger but still, to me, it looked amazing. They were indeed strong.
     
     The third fighter didn't waste any time. He lunged forward the same time Traikun and Davi blocked. The purger didn't even get the chance to kick him away and was stabbed in the belly right away.
     
     The purger made screeching sound. It was stumbling. Traikun kicked it and made it fall. Davi moved fast, grabbed the purger head from behind and twisted it. Cracking sound was heard. The monster was finished.
     
     I had to hand it to them. Their personal's strength was amazing and their coordination was good. The second purger, which should have comparable strength to the first one, didn't have a chance to show its might at all.
     
     "They're good, aren't they?" Seo Daho laughed at my amazement. I nodded in agreement.
     
     We started moving again after this. For more than one hour we moved along the road. Moving as silent as possible while we passed many buildings and empty streets.

What would you do when the world you know of ceased to exist?
What would you do when your home and your loved ones threatened?

I wouldn't accept this fate.
I would fight to my bitter end.

Santorini, Greece—the new promised city.

We spend more time in the air—appreciating every fallen city below, every town that already died. We could not kill every minute just to shorten the journey. I know patterns are painful to Peter. But the patience, I believe, will be fruitful soon. A little girl suddenly goes in front of me—choose to stand while wearing a pink top and bottom pajamas.

Peter's daughter suddenly speaks, "Sir Charles, your food."

In those little hands, a small can of meatloaf is shining and she offers it without any thoughts. I see her face—that bright and innocent face offers the kindness not everyone possesses. I slowly get the can and slightly tick the attached opener.

"Thank you," I say with a return of smile.

Peter's daughter seat beside me and from her pocket, she brings out her food—a single piece of bread. I am wondering, just a single piece of bread? While I have the meatloaf? I am sure that kids love meatloaf. I completely open the can without so much force and let Peter's daughter get the first piece of it.

"Here. Get as many as you want." I say.

She uses her small fingers to get one of the five meatloaves inside the can. In her innocent words, she says, "Thank you, Mister Charles."

She put the piece of bread around the meatloaf and make the first bite. Her little chew catches me up and it fills my stomach enough to end my hunger.

"What is your name?" I ask.

"Samantha." She says.

"Oh, what a cute lovely name."

"Thank you, Mister Charles."

While I watch her chewing little by little the meatloaf covered in a piece of bread, I come to think about Samantha's future. If we reach the city of Santorini, what are they going to offer to this little child?

Samantha suddenly asks, "Is God playing us?"

In all of a sudden, I feel the words came from her little voice. The punches of realization hit me—thinking that this child is too young to ask for that question. Where the hell did she get that thought? I give my time for a reaction. I give myself the chance to think.

"Well" I slowly say. "Why did you ask about God?"

"Daddy said, the pattern we are seeing is God's angels." She answers while giving another chew.

"Do you know any bible verses, Samantha?"

"Yes."

"Can you give me one?"

"You will not need to fight in this battle. Stand firm, hold your position, and see the salvation of the Lord on your behalf, O Judah and Jerusalem.' Do not be afraid and do not be dismayed. Tomorrow go out against them, and the Lord will be with you."

"You did great. What verse was that?"

"2 Chronicles 20:17"

The reason is known—it's her father. Her father is a faithful man of their religion, catholic. He believes in the bible, he believes in creation. In my side, I am confused. I could not let myself siding on scientific evidence nor in religion completely. If I am to believe in science, the patterns might be an alien species. But if I believe the religion, it might be God's angel indeed. Whatever is the reality, both of them are disturbing to give effort.

"To answer that, Samantha, you need to finish your food," I say.

Samantha gives me a nod. I keep on seeing her eating her meal. The time turns slow and she is slowly chewing every piece. Observing her at the last part of the loaf causes my eyes to fall down. In a matter of minutes, the soundless chewing of Samantha makes me asleep.

Waking up in Santorini:

In my dream, I see Clara once again. She was lying into the bed in her deadly fate. She points her camera. But before I pick the camera, my dream suddenly cut.

For another twist of time, the passiveness of life inside the plane turns into a quick and surprising stage. I open my eyes with Peter in front of me. It is already three in the afternoon. That was a fast trip to be recalled. I look instantly at the window, our plane stops in a land.

"Sir Charles, we're here at Santorini, Greece," Peter says. "Your meatloaf is on our refrigerator."

I was surprised.

My head turns up and observe everything around. I am the only passenger inside the plane. There is a doubt in Peter. I may be dreaming. But did we reach Santorini that fast?

"Really?" I ask. "we are already at Santorini?"

"Yes."

We are at the Santorini National Airport. The place is surprisingly unique as the airport is an indoor—a roof made out of concrete covers the entire airport. The whole airport is dimmer with that roof but the edges of this gigantic roof show the sunlight. Around the runway of the airport, there are sixteen fighter jets resting on both sides. I see one from the sky approaching the city with its engine getting wild as it gets nearer.

I look at the window carefully, I see every road and I had another surprise. Each road is covered by a thick grey concrete roof—the same roof that spreads above the national airport. There is one pinch of worry inside me—the weight of this roof is beyond the massive. It may fall and crushes everyone under it. But the pillars are everywhere. The thickness of the pillars shows us not to worry.

While the entire airport is covered in a thick roof, on the left side of it is the sea. The beautiful view of the sea is offering me amazement. The sun let to shine around the city and it reaches under these roofs.

For me to believe, I follow Peter outside.

The airport is pretty crowded with many establishments—trading goods to other goods. There are business here despite the threat of patterns around. That's right. There is one pattern near the city—it is located at the sea. But people are busy trading resources here. Where did they get those products?

"Where are we going, Peter?" I ask.

"At the Mayor's office." He answers.

So, that was a real thing, huh? While the world leaders, the presidents, the kings, are having the unknown fate right now, there is a single place here that still had the pride to have a mayor? That was pretty impressive. I am still into disbelief at this place but I must admit, it is a luxurious place to live.

I keep on following Peter—every road is made out of shadows of that thick roof. We turn. We climb in stairs. We walk straight. People are everywhere—giving way without touching the outside of these pillars. We walk on more roads. More buildings, more houses, every inch of the place, there are at least three people. Either they are business-minded, or pulling a cart, every area is alive—every place under a thick layer of roof.

We finally reach the mayor's office—the tallest house we see. It is a normal house out of hundreds of houses made out of indestructible material.

But before we enter the mayor's office, I see the appreciation where it faces like all houses here.

They are facing at the sea—the most stunning view Santorini. I appreciate the sun's afternoon beauty reflecting at the bed of waters of the sea. The sunlight is mirroring water while above that is an enemy of us—a huge circular pattern pretending to be a sun—the same pattern I saw when Peter woke me up inside the plane.

Like the sun, the pattern loves to see herself by reflecting on the sea. The sea fulfills that duty—it reflects the face of the pattern above adding discomfort for every people who will see the water.

Peter enters. I follow.

Without a very much appreciation of details inside, I see in the middle-end is the mayor's desk. And there he is—the mayor of Santorini sitting in a warm red chair.

I go near as Peter does. I look at that long white marble imprinted by each letter of the mayor's name, Ordan Pit. He is in his fifties caucasian but still he can act like a middle-aged man.

"Good afternoon, Mayor Ordan Pit," Peter says.

"Welcome to Santorini, how's your travel, Peter?" He says.

So, while I am sleeping, they already exchanging names and they become close enough to do the formal talking here in front of me. That is not a problem. I feel tired instantly appreciating the sky for how many hours.

"This is Charles Arthur, Mayor" Peter looks at me. "He is the last of our survivor."

The mayor stands up. I offer a shake hand with the mayor. While we are still in introducing each other, there are no thoughts inside of me. Believing is not convincing. We are already in the safest place where foods and fuels are not a problem. But speaking of fuels, I try to approach the mayor with a very welcome question.

"Mayor, where did you get your fuels?" I ask.

"Oh, how lucky. We have oil depot nearby and we heavily secured that spot. It will take a century for us to sip every drop of oil stored at that place."

"Is it for those fighter jets to fly?"

"Yes. And we need it flying often."

Lucky one. The city is a lucky one. But for what? What is the mission of fuelling those jets and let it fly? Is there any?

"What is the mission beyond those fighter jets?" I ask again.

"Retrieving survivors? Research? Experiments? There's a lot! Especially when you want the knowledge about that thing in the sky and how to kill them."

So they are experimenting as well? They are gaining knowledge about the patterns in the sky. What if they have a knowledge we have yet to know? What if we can share Lucian's theories and share it with them? Is this a good chance to reveal those?

"Patterns can talk to us by using our previous remembered memories," I reveal.

"Can you please justify your information, Mister Charles?" He asks.

I told Mayor Ordan the whole story of Lucian way back to his first mission at the town of Black Laurel. I also reveal on how every member of the Lights let our plane to fly without a challenge. I also told Mayor Ordan the experiment the Lights did about the communication of the pattern by means of our memories.

"What a big help, Mister Charles." He smiles. "But where are the Lights now?" He asks.

"Remains unanswered, Mayor," I say.

The flashback suddenly enters my head. I remembered the time when the inside of the plane suffered in the deafening sound of the alert system while Peter is trying to evade the death of the pattern's rays. It was fast. I recalled how survivors rejoiced while I was thinking about why the pattern did not shoot rays anymore after our plane safely got outside the perimeter.

I just take a deep breath seeing the mayor get interest with the same topic. But all of a sudden, there is a twist on the side of Santorini community.

"Mister Charles, we received an information here from a survivor."

"What is that all about?" I ask.

Mayor Ordan offers a seat in front of his desk. He begins to tell the information they had right now.

In the fallen city of Las Vegas in the United States, there is a mysterious light coming inside a dome. I come to my first thought—it is just hoax. It must be a hoax from a survivor who was traumatized. And if there is reality behind that, it must be a normal pattern. But why staying inside the dome?

"I sent the fleet of fighter jets in Las Vegas" he says. "Few months ago."

"And then, what happened, mayor?" I ask.

"Around that single dome, there are three gargantuan rings. These rings respond the same as the pattern. There are rays from heaven showering if someone triggers it."

Three massive rings? Does it mean, the rings are defending the light inside the dome? That means, that light inside might be valuable.

"So, what happens if we approach the dome, Mayor?" I ask.

"No one can approach it—even our fighter jets. The reaction of the rings is useless at the speed of our aircraft. But the problem is the speed itself. Jets could not just stop in a second when at the dome." Mayor answers.

"Can you approach it above? Above the dome?"

"No. Above the dome is open for our jets to enter but the inner ring of the pattern is so strong it blanketed the dome with extreme heat."

"Then, drop something?"

"We once dropped a bomb right above the dome but it explodes before touching the dome. The extreme heat from the inner ring was the cause."

The flow of our talk leads me at the end of the road with one answer—reach the dome by land. But who is going to get craze and tried to run with three rings? The Lights had that challenged in one pattern—a massive perimeter to run from end to end. They had a hard time—it is exhausting. But this is another different case—a unique pattern. A pattern with a ring? Not one, but three.

"Are your fighter jets flying within the pattern?" I ask.

"Yes. Same with your Lights, we are using fighter jets to divert attention just for an experiment." He answers. "Before a pattern could react, the jet already get on the opposite end of the perimeter."

"So, is there anyone here that could run within the perimeter?"

"None of us. There is no open land here with the pattern above."

The nearest pattern in Santorini is on the sea—the one I see outside of these houses. There are no runnings and they still have no knowledge on how to evade them using feet.

"Can we retrieve the Lights from Central HQ and use them to run in Las Vegas?" I ask.

"I am sorry Mister Charles. It will take years before we could reach SouthEast Asia as we prioritize nearby places to get survivors." The mayor answers.

"Then, can we have fuel for our plane to get them?"

"I know you will say that, Charles. But who is going to distract those patterns if you get them?"

"Oh, I forgot."

In my thought, fetching them is possible. Get to the nearest runway in Central HQ. That nearest runway should be pattern-free or no wreckage. The Lights will go to that runway and all of us can fly safely. But why did I miss it? Peter told us that there is no safe runway nearby in Central HQ.

"How many years will it take to reach North State in Asia?" I ask.

"I think it will be three years, Mister Charles." He answers. "We need to explore the entire Europe first if there is any survivor before we reach Asia and it will take three years just to search and rescue survivors only within Europe itself."

"Only if they can be still alive on those years."

"That is why the only thing you can do is to honor their bravery—their sacrifice. They are embracing courage without the fear of death."

Mayor Ordan and I finish the talk with another shake hand. Mayor offers us three little houses in front of the sea. Peter is introduced by the mayor to the troop of fighter pilots. While his daughter, Samantha, finally returns at school with new friends, new classmates under her normal childhood time. The other survivors join the group of farmers—the one who produces root crops in an indoor farm. Mayor offers me a position in the research field—a team that researches information about the pattern. In my specific job, I am the one who documented everything we knew about them.

There is no money involved—trading is the vital thing for this little economy. There are no policemen, no soldiers, no people are maintaining peace and order. People here rely on each other's honesty. As a victim, everyone feels the humanely act. It is surprising that there is no crime here. Everybody is respecting each other. Do your stuff, we will do mine. But how long it will last? The community will grow soon and troubles start to exist.

This is our new life in Santorini—the same life we need to deal with every day. The days keep on rolling and rolling with no pattern threatening us for those succeeding days. Safe in more weeks. Another more months passed by. I count years living in Santorini safe from the outside's danger. Countless research. Countless information. I hold nothing but Clara's camera with no use.

While a pattern is not yet directly appearing above the city, people keeps on expanding. And during these jumping years, there were three only three vehicles that arrive—two by riding cars and one bus. After all, there are no more survivors. I see lots of professional that keeps the economy wildly alive. There are 13 doctors to monitor every health, 45 engineers for territory expansion, 7 agriculturists for all root crops.

Stone roofs are everywhere—it covers the whole city. People are cautious—they are not letting the sky see them. Even there is no pattern above the city itself, everyone is anxious. They stay on the roof, despite that there is no pattern above Santorini directly. This is just a preparation in case there is one that would appear someday.

In a very unusual way to punish humanity, the starry sky will judge everyone. Charles along with Lucian and his best friend Maj, a black labrador retriever, will challenge the starry sky. Soon, they learn something about them. God is watching us.

His WIFE

Zhang Han drives back to Top Executive Residence excited to see his wife.
He needs to talk to her and made some arrangements.
His phone ring and flashed his Lawyer's name.
"Yes, Lawyer Gu? Is there is a problem for you to call me?" Zhang Han answered the call and wondered what's the problem.

"I am just informing you that I accumulated your marriage certificate, marriage license and your household registration number. Which is available anytime you request me for delivery." Lawyer Gu responded.

"I see, just hand me the two original copies on each document and please keep the other one original copy on you. Please deliver it to my office tomorrow when you are free. Thank you." And Zhang Han hanged up. 
Seeing his near his home it makes him giddy.
His newly wedded wife is waiting for him, it actually felt good.

Then, a guard open the gate for him.
After parking the car he walks at the foyer and notice that the house is so dark. Only the lights in the foyer is on.
All the lights inside the house is off, now Zhang Han's wondering where is Tang Su.
He turns the lights on and jogged upstairs.
Zhang Han tried to call her but to no avail, still no answers. The bedroom is empty, even the bathroom and walk in closet.
He open the study room to see if she wandered around and then the other Three guest rooms, still no sign of Tang Su.

He walks downstairs to the kitchen and saw his crumpled note this morning. Good at least she ate her breakfast. But where is she now? She is nowhere insight in their house.

He called the guards which inform him that Madam has been out since lunchtime and has been told that she will return with him.
This made him stiffen and nervous, his cold demeanor become somewhat colder thinking about what if her wife runaway.

"Ron! Track where my wife is!" Zhang Han roared at the phone.
"Woah! What happen?" inquire Ron.
" I visited my family and left her sleeping in our room, the guards told me she is gone since lunchtime and inform them that she'll return with me which is a lie and up to now she hasn't home yet. What if she runaway?" panic can be heard on Zhang Han's voice even in his cold approach.

"Ok bro, relax! I'll make some arrangements and contact someone that could track her down. I'll call you back after. You owe me big time bro! Remember that today is Sunday and supposedly my time with my wife!" and with that Ron cut the line frustrated and annoyed.

Zhang Han command his body guards to search for a woman called Tang Su and if found report to him immediately.

Zhang Han paced around the living room anticipating from Ron's call or his men. He stops from pacing around and sit on the couch while he massaged his head from another headache. It is almost an hour after the call and still Ron didn't call back. Where did his wife go. This is only adding to his headache and becoming more and more angry the passing seconds.

He is about to dial Ron's number when his phone ring indicating a call from Ron. He slides the answer button and was about to ask Ron, but he beat him first.

" Han! You need to drive fast to the airport, your wife plans to fly to Africa and her flight is at 8:00pm, you still have an hour to drive at the Capital's airport. I ask some personnel to block her and that is all I could do, remember you owe me big time! Now go! And please be gentle on her! I know you're angry but don't hurt her!" Ron ended the call and let his friend chase his wife.

Zhang Han called the head body guard and told him to drive to the Capital's airport to stop her wife. He just informed them her name, and He drive himself too.
"Fuck!" Han's cursed, he only has 35minutes before 8:00.

He drives crazy and run past the red light. He will deal with the police later. What important is the needs to get back her wife before she succeeds on running away from him. 

He arrives at the airport before his guards. He parked his car in front of the airport and run fast.
He even bump into someone and pushed more people who he taught an obstacle from reaching his wife.

Tang Su in now standing in line waiting for her turn at the check-in counter.
She felt nervous and something are bugging her, but she couldn't point out what it is.

Zhang Han stops running. Some people recognized him as the cold Ceo of the Zhang Industries and now looking at him wondering what is he doing here.
Panting and looking around Zhang Han spotted his wife. 
There his wife standing with her 5'6inch height that stands out in the crowd adding to her height is her 4inch high heels and her beautiful features that attract every man who pass by, is in the 4th line of the check-in counter talking to another girl.

Without wasting anymore seconds, Zhang Han ran past the surrounding people that started to surround him. He pushed away anyone who tried to block him especially those business men who want to greet him.

Zhang Han grabbed Tang Su's arm, turned her around and crashed his lips to hers forcefully.

He kissed her forcibly yet with passion. He held her tight afraid that she will runaway again. He poured out all his anger in this kiss, tasting and devouring her for the first time.

Tang Su's startled from the hand who suddenly grabbed her and a sudden forceful kiss. Stunned for a moment she saw that the man's whose kissing and sucking her lips is none other than Zhang Han her husband.
Tang Su tried to push him away, but he is so strong that his arm snake at the back of her head and the other one at her waist. There is no scape.

Zhang Han bit her lips and Tang Su gasps from the shock, and it only gives Zhang Han the opportunity to slide his tongue inside her mouth. She tastes so good and a little sweet. It makes Zhang Han addicted and want more.

Tang Su angrily stomp her foot on his but Zhang Han didn't care, he is focused on devouring her that his foot didn't hurt. Then she bit his tongue hard that even she tasted his blood.
That is only when Zhang Han let her lips go.

Yu Lin's gasps, and so are the crowd around. People are taking picture and some are recording a video.
The great and cold Ceo is now in the Airport and sucking an unknown woman's face.
Some girls looked at him dreamily and jealousy.
If only the Ceo could kiss them senseless like he does to her. They could only dream though.

The crowd erupt with different reactions.
Who's this girl?
What is their relationship?
Why is the Ceo kissing her?
What is going on?

Luckily, Tang Su's hair covered each side of her face and Zhang Han's head is blocking her face from being photographed.

"You're not running away from me! You're mine and mine only!" Zhang Han looked directly into her eyes when he suddenly carried her on his shoulder like a sack of potatoes being carried.

"AAHHH!" Tang Su shouts loudly after being manhandled. "Let go of me! You bastard, put me down! I don't want to go with you! Leave me alone!" she continues to shout but Zhang Han ignore her protest.

 Motioning his body guard to take his wife's luggage, and also drag his wife's friend.
Zhang Han strode past the crowd with a protesting Tang Su on his shoulder.

Tang Su is punching Zhang Han's back shouting and cursing.
Thank God she's wearing a jean or else her bottom will be exposed.

He disposed her at the backseat before sitting at the driver seat and drove of.

Yu Lin's also being shoved at the backseat from another car together with the body guards. Still stunned and didn't recover from what she had witness.
The cold Ceo kissed her bestfriend and drag her away and now they also drag her.
Why she is being drag too? Are they going to kill her too? She is panicking, she didn't know what to do.

Suffured from the same betrayal. Tang Su and Zhang Han meet at the unexpected place yet at the right time.

A coward Tang Su who always runaway from her emotions afraid of another betrayal.

A cold Ceo Zhang Han who is never afraid to show how cruel he is but afraid to loose his wife.
