Synopsis
14-year-old Zack Thornwood's life is turned upside down one day after baseball practice when he spots an 8-fingered man with a hole in his head disappear into the ground. Hole-in-Head Man is quickly followed by Xander Moon, a self-titled 'Hunter of the Dead' who explains that there are tons of dead people walking around pretending not to be dead. They look alive, they act alive, but they are most definitely not alive, and this is most definitely not a good thing.
Xander gives Zack the ability to tell the dead from the living through their unique odor (he smells dead people) and the two follow Hole-in-Head Man (whose name is Gus) into an ancient tomb hidden underground in the middle of suburbia. There they beat Gus to the prize contained within--a squishy spleen. The spleen is one of the legendary 14 Pieces that, when assembled, create The Osiris Machine which will bring about the end of the world.
Zack tries to go back to his normal life, but when Gus tries to kill him in the middle of a playground, he discovers the Deadly Dead are not through with him just yet. When Zack touched the squishy spleen, the location of the next Piece of the Osiris Machine was more or less downloaded into his brain. Gus and the people he works for, including the mysterious and utterly evil Miss Bubbles, want that information, and they will stop at nothing to get it.
The Chronicles of the Deadly Dead is created by David Neilsen, an eGlobal Creative Publishing Signed Author.

Write a reviewWriting quality is great and the plot is really great. I like the flow very great keep writing like you're doing. the characters are really great.
A very unique story to be honest...never come across such books but they say all hidden gems are not in top ranking! That's the case here too. A fantastic read and I'll recommend it always
I'm amazed by the writing quality and it made me lured into the story more and more. I can't say much since the rest of the chapters are locked, but I read 10 chapters of the book, and it blows my mind. All I can say is, just read the book on your own and you won't regret it!

I've only read 13 chapters but it's very good and engaging. It's reads more of a novel than a webnovel. Great job from the author. .
Good job, author! I must say I don't usually read stories like this one, but it is just so hooking. I love how you express all the character's thoughts and feelings as the story progresses, and that is the main thing that makes this novel so entertaining to read. Keep up the good work!
I think it's really funny in a sort of Percy Jackson sort of way. It's interesting and I'll save it for when I find an alternative method to get coins without using the app because the app is hard to use (o.o I'm just bad with phones). I didn't really notice anything wrong with the grammar or anything, so I'm leaving that to people who can spot it better... The only thing that kind of made me go 'eh?' was the MC because I'm very very very very (like 100%) sure that I've never seen a fourteen year old go that sarcastic? It's sort of Percy Jackson-like sarcastic. And maybe it's because I'm blinded by my age, but most of the people I meet in a similar age gap dislike extreme sarcasm and the others are just mingling. I don't know, this is in USA and I'm from Canada so maybe USA people are different, but at least here in Canada, there isn't that much... ... idk people say libras are the ones with all the sarcasm so libraness. Also, um, do teachers in schools really say young man? I don't know, all my teachers say, "Hey, Ada, what's this..." or something like that. Most teachers, the really creepy ones are all, "Lettuce talk about mental health and never actually help you when you are genuinely nervous because we're hypocrites", the other ones are like my math teacher who is just, "Nice juicy questions." And while funny if you don't feel the need to listen, boring if you do need to listen. And are boys really that obsessive about girls? Most of the boys in my class are just... "Grades, grades, grades, we're better than the girls." I'm not totally sure, but I just found that the characterization, especially for a fourteen year old in high school, didn't sound right? Or I'm just nitpicky and unobservant to notice them actually do that... But it sort of bothered me how it deviated from how people talk to others in real life, or the story isn't going in that direction and the main focus isn't that. Other than that, I liked how everything sort of just started off with a bang and I'll try to get some coins to actually buy some chapters because the summary says Miss Bubbles and that sounds like some kid holding a weird bubble machine swinging it around. It was nice to read and funny OvO
Reveal SpoilerGreat novel! This reads like a professional wrote it. Each character is well crafted, and the chapters move at a pace that leaves you on the edge of your seat the whole time. This is a spectacular piece of writing and I can't recommend it enough!
I got really hooked in this story even though I still havent read alot of chapters. This is my cup of tea, I qm into fantasy and it gets my curiosity going. Has lots of potential. Keep it up![img=recommend][img=recommend]
This novel was so freaking awesome. The grammar was polished and no tidbits blocking the way of my reading experience. I am very happy to have such reading experience and this novel was the one of the best examples for me to learn. Kudos and Peace! ✌️
am... okay, this story is intriguing, I thought at first that it is a horror novel but turns out a fantasy one, for the writing quality I guess it's good (I really can't say too much about quality because I, myself weren't good ). What I want to say is, the story is fascinating and it is recommended...
I did only read a couple of chapters, but I can't really say anything bad about this book nor its story. It had a well-crafted world filled with interesting a unuique characters. Not to mention the writing style,, which is fantastic.
I've only read the first chapter so far, but I'm already hooked. Your writing style is excellent, and I wouldn't bat an eye if I found this in an actual library. The description of the world allows me to see exactly what you had in mind, I didn't find even a single grammatical error. I'll keep reading, and I can't wait to see what happens next!
The novel is a rather interesting one. The premise in itself isn't completely new but it's on I don't see often. The author handles it well and does it justice. The main character Is rather quirky in the way her narrates that makes him feel rather relatable. Overall it's just a good novel overall.
A first class novel! I love the inner thoughts. The humor, the development, the uniqueness, everything is awesome. Just read the first chapter and you will get hooked:)
Very quickly from the start, the author grabs you and refuses to let you go. Using a delicate combination of humor, great character development and Skillful writing, one finds themselves refusing to put down the novel. Truly and incredible and captivating work! Its obvious much much effort and dedication was poured into the novel! Check it out if you have not already.
Author's description of a character 'he looked like a hippie who had outlived his usefulness.'... and I'm like😳 🤣😂😁... That was savage! I don't really do fantasy, I'm a sucker for romance novels but really, I enjoyed this. The author made reading fantasy easy for me with his sense of humor, humor. well done author 👏👏👏👏
A very unique and compelling story which is narrated remarkably well by our protagonist, Zack. The amount of detail put into this novel is clear. Not only that, but the narrator's got a really good sense of humor, actually made me laugh! 5/5 for me
I'm leaving my review now even though I'm still near the beginning. And, despite the (deserving) 5 Stars, I'm in two minds about the whole thing. As a writer: I hate it. It's so damn good and I hate it. I mean where does David get off writing so well? *sigh* As a reader: Everyone on this platform should be made to read it. It's got a rocketing-good start. The first line is liftoff, and by the end of the first chapter David has reached the stratosphere. I'm certain that by the end of the book, we'll be on a faster-than-light speed journey to the edges of the universe. It's so damn enjoyable and Zack is such a wonderful narrator. You really deserve a bunch of votes for this and, when I have some free, you're at the top of my list.
