Witchcraft is the practice of magic used by witches. Before a witch has come into their power, they're considered "untapped", and their magic is considered pure. However, after awakening their power, witchcraft can encompass many different types of activities, such as spell casting, astrology, divination, and spirit communication, to name a few. This also includes the practices observed by many cultures, nations, and religions as well as many books and writings dating back to ancient times. Depending upon the individual, some witches practice their power by certain belief systems, such as Shamanism, Voodoo, Wicca, or any number of other magical practices. Although the majority of traditional witches are commonly portrayed as being kind and selfless humans who use their powers to maintain balance within the world, this is not absolute. Some witches go directly against the Balance of Nature by practicing their powers for dark and sinister or selfish deeds, while a few darker witches go so far as to subvert the very laws that Nature governs.

Different types of Magic

Ancestral Magic

Ancestral Magic is an extremely powerful form of witchcraft that is commonly practiced by the Nine Covens of New Orleans. Similar to Spirit Magic, this form of sorcery draws its energy from the power of ancestral witches who have been consecrated on New Orleans soil. However, according to Sophie Deveraux, this power can only be harnessed within the boundaries of New Orleans, meaning that should the witch abandon the area, their power will diminish and will be forced to utilize other forms of magic. In addition to this, should a witch abuse the power that has been given to them by the Ancestors, the spirits can repeal this power from any witch in New Orleans, including the Regent. Since the release of the Ancestors from the Ancestral Well, Ancestral Magic is extinct from New Orleans.

Connective Magic

Connective Magic is a form of sorcery that allows a witch to create a semi-permanent bond that draws strength from other supernatural beings, such as another witch. The witch, Dahlia, however, invented her own brand of this magic which allows the casting which to channel another witch's power while also augmenting said witch's power. She also used this magic to draw on the strength of an immortal being to achieve true immortality in conjunction with her Immortality Slumber Spell. However, neutralizing or killing said immortal being would similarly affect the witch. Unlike Sacrificial Magic, the target in which energy is drawn from is not hurt.

Dark Magic

Dark Magic, also coined "Black Magic", is a powerful form of sorcery that draws on malevolent powers and may be used for negative purposes; e.g. to cause destruction or misfortune, to injure or kill, or for the profit of oneself rather than for the benefit of others. In popular usage, the term "Dark Magic" is often used to describe any form of sorcery that is used against the Balance of Nature.

Expression

Expression is an extremely powerful form of sorcery that draws on dark energy that is so malicious, it would supposedly demolish the world if it were ever called into existence. The details and history of expression remain unknown, however, according to the witch, Nandi LaMarche, the forces of expression are considered so powerful that many witches discredit it as magic, for it expands beyond the limitations of both ancient and modern witchcraft.

Kemiya

Kemiya is all about the chemistry and connection between two witches.

Kemiya is an Arabian form of magic that allows a witch to physically destroy the elemental foundations of an object to create another or to magically imbue said creation with harmful, supernatural properties, thus creating a dark object. Requiring two witches to perform, the potency of its spells are determined by the chemistry between the two practitioners. Kemiya is said to cross the boundary between magic and science, utilizing aspects of both. One such notable example is the creation of the Gold Dagger; i.e. turning silver to gold.

Necromancy

Necromancy is a brand of sorcery as well as a magical practice that allows a witch to contact and communicate with, control and even reanimate the dead. While most witches who practice necromancy are known to channel dark magic, it is known that a witch can use any magic of their choosing to practice necromancy. With the destruction of the Other Side, Bonnie referred to Alaric's attempt at raising Josette's spirit as necromancy, as her spirit wasn't behind a Veil that they could lift and she'd magically appear. According to Vincent, Necromancy is but one of the many branches of witchcraft and is popularly practiced by many of the witches in New Orleans. One such coven banished their members that became obsessed with dark magic, necromancy, and immortality spells - they became known as the Kindred. According to Dorian, necromancy is everywhere in occult literature and it is a form of sorcery that dates back to ancient Greece. The Necromancer was world-renowned in the practice of necromancy, particularly raising and controlling dead humans in the form of zombies. However, his legacy was forgotten from the world due to Malivore.

Sacrificial Magic

Sacrificial Magic can be a powerful form of sorcery, though it is highly dependent upon the ritualistic sacrifices of natural and supernatural beings. Similar to expression, this form of sorcery can draw upon the energy, in various forms, from any supernatural creature that is sacrificed. According to the witch Vincent Griffith, sacrificial magic is but one of the many branches of witchcraft that is popularly practiced by many of the witches in New Orleans

Spirit Magic

Spirit Magic was a very powerful form of sorcery that drew its power from the Spirits who resided on the Other Side. Unlike other forms of magic, except for ancestral magic, spirit magic could only be used how the Spirits saw fit and if a witch abused the power that is bestowed upon them, the Spirits would break the connection between themselves and the witch, preventing them from further harnessing their power. Since the collapse of the Other Side, spirit magic may have become extinct. However, it's been shown that witch spirits that have found peace in the afterlife retain their ability to perform magic, though it is currently unknown if living witches can call upon these spirits for additional aid.

Traditional Magic

Traditional Magic is one of the oldest and purest forms of sorcery inherent to the Earth and the forces of Nature. Traditional magic is undoubtedly the most popular form of witchcraft known-to-man, however, it is also the most exhausting. This is mainly due to the fact whenever a witch uses this power they must exert their energy, which can cause them to experience symptoms of dizziness, fatigue, and minor nosebleeds. Bonnie Bennett explained the limits of this power to Jeremy Gilbert, saying that if she pushed too hard, it would push back.

Traveler Magic

Traveler Magic is a form of sorcery that is strictly practiced by a subculture of witches known as the Travelers. This form of sorcery specializes in spirit possession and its spells are performed in a language different from all other forms of witchcraft. Traveler magic is highly dependent upon the magic of the Traveler along with their connection to other Travelers. Only by joining together, in large gatherings, are Travelers able to perform powerful feats of magic. Without access to the magic of other Travelers, their power is considerably weak.

Known Magical Practices

Blood Magic

Blood Magic is a magical practice that refers to the mystical properties found in non-human blood. Blood from different supernatural species possesses different uses, with those most notably from a doppelgänger. Blood from various species can be used by witches to interconnect them with their rituals and spells to draw on their unique properties. One such notable example was when Vincent attempted to use Lucien's blood, as an Upgraded Original vampire to cure the venom in his bite on Cami.

Elemental Magic

Elemental Magic is a magical practice that involves the utilization of the four alchemical elements: Fire, Water, Earth, and Air. A witch with enough magical power can interconnect Elemental Magic within their rituals and spells to draw on their unique properties. Davina Claire once used a subsection of such, known as Earth Magic, in Ashes to Ashes, during her attempt to resurrect Kol Mikaelson - to turn ash to bone and earth to flesh. Witches typically utilize fire, in the form of candles or torches, to aid them in their spells. Other witches like Esther Mikaelson and Ariane have used water as conduits in spells related to divination.

Hoodoo

Hoodoo is a magical practice that mixes occult elements of African, European, and Native American witchcraft along with some Christian mythology. Contrary to Voodoo, Hoodoo is not a religion, but rather an eclectic practice of witchcraft that is strongly based on herbal knowledge and can be used negatively or positively. According to Vincent, Hoodoo is but one of the many branches of witchcraft and is popularly practiced by many of the witches in New Orleans.

Representational Magic

Representational Magic is a magical practice that uses representative objects to manipulate reality. Its origins remain unknown; however, it has existed at least as far back as 10th Century A.D. According to Vincent, representational magic is but one of the many branches of witchcraft and is popularly practiced by many of the witches in New Orleans. Usually, such spells use much more power than one realizes. It's also very delicate magic that requires considerable concentration by the witch who practices it. One such use of Representational Magic is for the creation of a Chambre de Chasse.

Shamanism

Shamanism is a magical practice used by indigenous witches known as shamans. Shamanism is described as a way of life, focusing on connecting with Nature and creation where interaction with the spirit world through altered states of consciousness is used to achieve divination and healing. A tribe of shamans was known to create the Huntress, by sacrificing their lives to imbue her with great power to destroy vampires. This practice has slowly faded from the world and is rarely seen, though legends and lore have kept this all but gone.

Voodoo

Voodoo is a very old magical practice, that is also a religion, used by some witches. Voodoo is described as a set of spiritual folkways that originated from the traditions of the African diaspora. It is a cultural form of the Afro-American religions which developed within the French, Spanish and Creole population of the state of
Louisiana
. According to Vincent, Voodoo is but one of the many branches of witchcraft and is popularly practiced by many of the witches in New Orleans. The practice of voodoo, however, extends as far north as Chicago,
Illinois
with the witch Gloria, as she was a self-proclaimed "old-school" voodoo practitioner.

Spell Casting

One of the main components of witchcraft is the ability of witches to cast spells. Spell casting is a power of witches and witch-related species such as siphoners, witch-vampire Hybrids and, possibly, werewolf-witch Hybrids to work magic through the recitation of incantations. This allows users to magically alter reality to a wide number of effects or to evoke forces to change their surroundings. Though this is an ability possessed by all witches, it can also be achieved through thoughts, gestures, and rituals, although generally spoken.

Concentrate. Forget about the vampires. Focus on tapping into your power, listen to the sound of your heart beating, the sound of your lungs filling with air.

Spells are capable of producing a wide variety of effects, both harmful and helpful. They can produce physical or chemical changes in a person or object. They can also have profound mental effects such as altering memory, manipulating emotions, or causing magical compulsion (such as forcing someone to speak truthfully).
Spells can manipulate other kinds of magic, such as binding (preventing the use of) a witch's powers, transferring powers between individuals or objects, breaking magical barriers, lifting or casting curses, protection from harm, and range from healing to resurrecting the dead. Some spells require more than one witch to make them work to increase the amount of magic and therefore potential power available for the spell.

The capabilities of spell casting are nearly limitless, though it depends on the type of magic being invoked, the proficiency of the witch, and the spell being cast. A great majority of spells contain a spoken component, notably known as an incantation. An incantation is written and recited as a verse that can vary widely in length from a single word to a short phrase, to a long verse repeated to completion. Some spells consist of only an incantation where others have additional and/or specific components as well. A spell may require the use of certain tools, ingredients (herbs, stones and minerals) or the use of additional power such as from talismans, celestial events or a specific kind of magic.

Spells and Rituals

One of the defining characteristics of a witch is their ability to cast spells; a "spell" typically being the word used to signify the means employed to carry out a magical action. A spell could consist of ritual action, a set of words, a verse, or any combination of these. For reasons unknown, the majority of spells used by practitioners of traditional and spirit magic are spoken in an ancient language very similar to Latin, while the ancient witch Qetsiyah performed her spells in Aramaic (a language that originated from the Middle East). However, witches who practice other forms of magic have been known to use spells in different languages; for example, the French Quarter Coven, which practices ancestral magic, performs their spells in French or French Creole, while the Travelers typically perform their spells in Czech. Dahlia and Freya Mikaelson have performed spells using a yet to be identified ancient magic in Old Norse, similar to the modern-day Norwegian, Icelandic, Germanic, Danish, Scandinavian and Swedish languages.

Known Magical Celebrations

Certain days are celebrated by witches for the high magical potential they represent. These traditions are observed particularly within covens. The best-known celebrations so far come from the witches of New Orleans, which hosts the largest number of known covens.

Fête des Bénédictions

Meaning "Blessing Festival", is celebrated by the witches of the French Quarter in agreement with the local community in which people offer gifts to the Harvest witches in exchange of blessings. Witches offer a demonstration of their powers during a parade held in the French Quarter and then a party is held in a luxury building where guests deposit their gifts at the feet of the witches who are sitting on thrones. From the words of Genevieve, it seems that this festival had been suspended by the restrictive policy of Marcel Gerard and not by the fact that it celebrates solely the Harvest witches every three hundred years when the Harvest Ritual is accomplished. So it's likely that the gifts are offered to the most important within the hierarchy at the time.

Fête de Cadeau

Literally "celebration of the gifts" in French, this festival is celebrated by the totality of the Nine Covens of New Orleans in the City of the Dead. Every witch brings an animal - generally goats - to the Regent to be sacrificed and bestow benevolence upon the community. The festival lasts all day long and the evening seems to be devoted to revelry while the proper religious ceremony is celebrated in the morning.

Coven Day

Coven Day is a tradition established at the Salvatore Boarding School for the Young & Gifted to provide an opportunity for all of the school's witches, students, faculty, and staff, to celebrate and take pride in being what they are - witches. Throughout the day, it also allows the students to learn about the six unique covens that make up the school's magical community.

Trivia

Along with Spell Casting, Channeling, is yet another basic characteristic of a witch's power.

Some spells can replicate the effects of magical powers such as pyrokinesis, telekinesis, or pain infliction though they may also be the result of non-verbal spells or simply spells that help focus these powers.

Spells and Rituals are recorded in grimoires by witches to collect information and improve their work.

Contrary to the novels, the television show does not mention the practice of Wicca, however, it is possible that traditional magic could be a symbolic representation of Wicca as traditional magic is deeply concerned with the Balance of Nature.
Contrary to popular belief, representational magic is not a type of magical power, but a type of magical practice. Necromancy, however, has been referred to both a form of sorcery as well as can be used as a magical practice. Since magic is based on its source of power, representational magic does not qualify as a form of magic, any magic chosen by the practitioner can be used. For example, Monique Deveraux used ancestral magic to cast a representational spell that would prevent Céleste Dubois from cheating death. However, Finn Mikaelson used sacrificial magic to cast a representational spell to trap Elijah, Klaus, and Kol inside of a Chambre de Chasse. According to the Harvest Witch, Cassie, the Kindred used dark magic for immortality and necromancy spells, while other witches, such as Qetsiyah, used traditional magic. The Necromancer specifically excels at the use of necromancy and once became world-renowned.

According to Elijah Mikaelson, objects enchanted by witchcraft can only be destroyed by using the elements of water and fire.

According to Freya Mikaelson, a witch's magic can be anchored to one's home which is sometimes required in spells. If a witch is never in one place for a long period or has no ties to anyone or anything, they will have no anchor. However, witches can use people as anchors, however, doing this allows the witch to see inside the mind of the respective anchor(s).

When attempting to penetrate the mind of Eva Sinclair, Freya stated that without an anchor, she would be lost inside the mind of Eva, along with both Rebekah, Marcel and Vincent.

In Between the Devil and the Deep Blue Sea, it is revealed that alchemy is a magical practice that is studied and recorded from the Iberian Peninsula from southwest Europe. Hope studies this, "Locator Spells in Twelve Ancient Languages" as well as the magic of the Middle East, from several grimoires. She explained that she was "examining regional magic as it relates to sociopolitical and economic statuses"; however, this was an attempt at breaking powerful cloaking spells. Freya also states that trying to break every possible spell in those books would take her a thousand years to perform.

Believing she had defeated him, she cackled. However, Robin Hood actually dodged the spells and shot a Freeze arrow onto the ground beneath Willow. He took the children, leaving the witch alone once more.

A skilled witch, blinded by revenge, becomes known in famous fairy tales. However, it's not the way she (or the reader) expected.

The invisible force field was wiped out by the dissociation rays. Furthermore, the antimagic ray targeted the crystal ball in Lucien's right hand, trying to hit it and thus build a small antimagic field inside the crystal ball in order to cut off its connection to the magic tower.
Since Lucien had been hit by the antimagic ray, he could not cast any spells on his own for now. He slightly turned around and blocked the antimagic ray with his own right arm. At the same time, he continued casting the creepy spells with the magic tower. Since he was using the great power of the magic tower, hurriedly interrupting the chanting process would bring horrible damage to Lucien's soul from the backlash!
Several powerful flashes of lightning were summoned from the ceiling, turning the whole space into an ocean of lightning and thunder. Except for the desk and the floor carved with reinforcing magic symbols, the rest of the things in the study were destroyed completely.
The seventh-circle spell, Lightning Storm!
A piece of shadow embedded with complicated patterns instantly surrounded the old witch, safely protecting her from all the bolts of lightning.
The seventh-circle spell, Energy Immunity—Lightning!
Then the old witch's yellowish-brown eyeball launched colorful light rays again. Some could charm people; some could make them fall asleep; other could slow people down or turn people into stone. The eyeball in the center released the strong smell of death.

After this fierce round of attacks, the old witch's left eye now looked dim. The eyeball had to wait for a while before launching the next round.
In most cases, no beholder would fight like this. The different eyestalks would cooperate with each other and fight using strategies to make sure that they would not run out of their spells. However, right now it seemed that the old witch had lost her mind, or maybe there were other reasons.
Lucien put his hand on the crystal ball and summoned Forcecage again to protect himself.
The colorful rays hit the force field cage but could not go through it, until the green dissociation ray quickly broke the cage down.
If the witch had not lost her mind, she could have launched the dissociation ray in the first place. If that was the case, Lucien would have been in great trouble!
After this round of attack, Lucien saw that the old witch quickly took a glance at the several statues of beauties in the corner to her right.
Lucien was very surprised. He did not notice the fact that the statues remained completely intact from the flashes of lightning. Why did the old witch choose to protect them so well?! Were they even more important than her magic books?!
However, right now he did not want to waste any time on thinking about it. Lucien quickly cast another spell and a huge hand with sharp nails broke out from the floor. The hand tried to grab the statues in the corner.
The seventh-circle spell, Sajeman's Ice Hand Prison!
The magic tower's power also had its limit. Including the spells that Lucien had used, there were nine kinds of spells altogether. Lucien wanted to finish the fight as soon as possible, as once he used up all the magic tower's spells, the old witch could easily kill him.
Therefore, as soon as he noticed that there was something wrong with the statues. Lucien decisively switched his target.
The old witch screamed angrily, and black miasma spread out. Adam, who just recovered from the witch's spell and was climbing to his feet on the corner suddenly felt completely exhausted.
The seventh-circle spell, Dying Waves. This was a spell enchanted in her magic robe, as she was still waiting for the buffering time.
Lucien did not panic. He calmly finished chanting a spell. Then, a dark ray shot out from the wall and the ray instantly built up a small antimagic field around Lucien.
When the waves died out before reaching Lucien, the statues in the corner burst out bright light and countered the power of the hand.
Within Lucien's expectation, they were not just common statues.
As soon as Lucien entered the study, he felt it very strange that the old witch would want to put some statues of beauties there to make herself upset. Also, if the witch's body and soul had been cursed so badly, why was she still alive?!
Lucien believed that the old witch would put all of her most important things in the core section of the magic tower!
Lots of thoughts filled his mind. The crystal ball rose into the air and a red light ray shot out at the statues!
The seventh-circle spell, Ruby Reversion Ray, could remove the strongest defending effect of the target!
After the several rounds of attack, some of the defending magic circles on the statues had been worn out. When the ruby ray hit them, one of them lost all its protections and the original color of the statue was revealed.
The old witch went crazy. She immediately gave up attacking Lucien and instead turned her force field into a huge palm. The palm grabbed the statue and brought it back to the old witch.
Obviously, these statues were the weakness of the old witch. Lucien seized the chance and summoned a powerful lightning again.
At this time, a beauty statue was struck into pieces. A piece of soul disappeared together with the lightning.
The old witch suddenly aged. Her back bent forward even further, and her left eye instantly became sunken.
The old witch put part of her life in the statues!
Lucien continued casting. More and more bolts of lightning were summoned. And the statues were broken into pieces one by one.
The old witch's flesh started to rot. She could not use magic anymore.
Lucien saw victory, but at the same time, he could not help doubting himself. How come he could just kill a senior-rank mage like this?
The old witch had been making mistakes choosing what spells to use from the very beginning. Fortunately, Lucien's guess with the statues was correct…
At this time, he heard Adam's voice in his mind, "Good for you, man! You killed the witch! We're free now!"
"I'm not sure about it, Adam…" Lucien murmured.
Then he saw a creepy smile on the old witch's face.
"…?!"
When Lucien was just about to take actions, the magic tower started to shake fiercely. Chunks of bricks and stones started to fall down…
Lucien's vision became blurry. He passed out in the darkness.

Lucien saw light again. However, when he instantly tried to sit up, he found that both of his arms and legs were tied up by something.
"Good, very good. Your foundation to learn magic is very solid." The old witch giggled, "The development of magic in the recent several hundred years is really impressive…"
Lucien was shocked. He saw the old witch, wearing the red magic robe as usual, walking back and forth in the lab. Lucien was lying on the table as if he had just received another round of the electric shock treatment.
"What…" He was confused.
The old witch was quite proud of herself and said, "Dream Casting, sixth-circle. I've seen the spells you know and how developed the current magic system is."
Lucien was still confused when knowing that the escape adventure was just a dream. However, this explained the many questions that he had had in his mind: why he could not use his spirit library after getting rid of the collar; why he failed to contact Rhine; and why the witch made so many mistakes during the fight…
"I have to say that your so-called Arcana has impressed me." The old witch seemed to be in a pretty good mood, "I'll take you to the underground remain, where there's a maze in it. I hope that you can surprise me."
Lucien quickly calmed down and bargained, "Ms. Eudora, I think I can do a better job for you without the collar."
"No problem. I'll free you before entering the maze." As she was a powerful sorcerer, Lucien was not a threat to her.
Lucien followed the old witch to the ground floor of the magic tower. Then, they walked downstairs to the underground passage.
The passage paved with huge stone slabs had a height of five or six meters and a width of seven to eight people side by side. The slabs were carved with pictures of ancient people fighting against monsters from the underground world.
"Magnificent…" Lucien said sincerely.
The old witch did not say anything. Everything down here was more than familiar to her.
At the end of the passage, there were ten gates. Each gate had different, mysterious patterns on them.
Pointing at the gray gate in the middle, the old witch said, "Here, the maze."
Lucien saw that the patterns on the gate were quite familiar. They looked like mathematical symbols. So, he asked confusedly, "What is in the maze? I could be more prepared if you told me."
"There's no monster in there. Just… difficult questions." The old witch looked a bit upset. Then, she removed Lucien's collar and shackles and urged him to enter the maze.
Feeling that his spiritual power had recovered, Lucien pushed open the gate and slowly walked into the maze. If there were no monsters in there, it should be a pure intelligence maze.
As soon as he entered it, the gate behind him closed silently. Lucien, with his dark vision, saw himself standing on a bridge with no ends, in the middle of nowhere. He was confused once more. He took a couple of steps ahead and saw stars appearing in front of his eyes. Then, the stars connected to each other and formed a line of words.
"Prove that any even number larger than 2 is the sum of two prime numbers."
"What…?" The question was totally out of Lucien's expectation. Then the stars formed more mathematical questions.
The questions looked very familiar to Lucien. It seemed that they were all from the exercise book that Lucien once read before—Demidovich Problems in Mathematical Analysis.
The mathematical symbols, numbers, equations, and hypotheses moved around Lucien's head and made him feel dizzy. Suddenly, the darkness broke into pieces and light came in again.
Lucien opened his eyes and shook his head. When he looked around, he saw Elvis, who should have been dead in the Black Forest.
Elvis covered his nose and mouth with his hand, where blood was dripping down. He said to Lucien angrily:
"What the hell is it in your head?!"


"A falling star has brought the chaos. The throne of fate has lost its master. The nonbeliever who walks in light and darkness will make his debut."
In this magic world, knowledge is power.

"Mother Queen, you understand what you are asking me to do?" The old lady witch who was the original immortal Bennett witch stared at the Mother Queen of Serpents as she asked. There was a faint light flashing inside her eyes which proved she was someone who had attained immortality. There was a ring which she was wearing on her left hand which would glow whenever she would be doing her spells.
Sighing softly, Mother Queen nodded her head slightly and replied. 
"Yes, I don't think there is any other choice left with us." When the head witch heard the reply of Mother Queen, she frowned. It was a very risky decision which they were going to take right now. Once the spell around Sylia to block her powers would be terminated, then the latter would have her powers in her hands and she could do anything with it. Nobody would be able to stop her. 
There was a long silence between the two of them. Mother Queen looked at the ball in her hands and her eyes turned dark when she recalled the reason they had blocked Sylia's powers. If there would have been another choice left then she would have never ever have chosen to terminate the blocking spell. 
All of a sudden the head witch asked,
"Will you be able to give up on the powers?" 
Mother queen remained silent for a long time. It was a big gamble she was going to take. For the locating spell to work, there should be powers emerging from two souls. Even if the head witch would try alone, the locating spell would work but it would make her body weak. So weak, that it would require her a cultivation period of at least seven years. 
But if Mother Queen shares some of her powers then there won't be any issues with the head witch's health, however, as it is said whenever a strong spell is used, there has to be certain consequences. 
Biting her lips, Mother Queen broke the silence as she agreed and answered.
"Yes, I will."
"Alright then let's start." 
The head witch extended her hands and clasped them with the Mother Queen's. Closing her eyes the head witch started spelling some spells as the grimoire below their hands opened, flipping through every page until it stopped at one. 
When there were no flipping sounds of the pages, both of them opened their eyes. The head witch took a small knife beside her and she made a small cut on the palm of Mother Queen's right hand and made a cut on her hand as well but on the left palm. Joining both the hands, the head witch kept a small pallet or a crucible below their hands while she held it with her right hand. 
With loud and high pitch sound she started with her spells once again and interlocked their hands more tightly. As soon as the sound of the voice started to increase, there was a sudden force which was trying to open their interlocked hands. The result of the spell completely depended on their will power to hold and fight with the force. The longer they would be able to, the longer they would share their powers. 
Quite a few minutes passed but the blood did not seeped out from their interlocked fingers. The witch knitted her brows and started to spell more difficult spells. This spell was among the most powerful ones and being the most powerful spell it would take a lot of  powers from the person who was spelling it. 
Since the old witch was one who had completed her cultivation and was the merging witch, the powerful spell did not make her much affected. However, Mother Queen who had never been used to with such a force, her nose started to bleed. The latter turned anxious on looking at the droplet which had fallen on her white skirt leaving a stain. 
"Head Witch… this… there is a blood stain. Oh my! My nose is bleeding… Stop it! Make it stop." 
Despite the Mother Queen's words, the head witch did not open her eyes nor did she stop with her spells. In fact her spell became more and more powerful. It seems that soon they will be getting their results. With each powerful stroke, the spell showed more vigorous effects on Mother Queen's body. 
"Head witch, make it stop!" There were strong winds that were blowing around them and the grip with which their hands were interlocked started to tighten. Mother Queen tried multiple times to break through it, but there was no use. Mother Queen had already became quite weak that there seemed to be no power left in her. 
No matter how much the mother queen shouted or yelled, there were no effects on the old witch. 
All of a sudden, the strong gust of winds stopped. Mother Queen was breathing heavily and she was almost about to jump at the sudden halting of the winds, afraid what was else coming. But soon her eyes travelled to the interlocked hands from where she could faintly see a drop of blood seeping out!

A divine cultivator, who was cursed at the time of his birth to spend his second life as an Asur until he turns thirty. Unable to finish his cultivation to achieve immortality, he had died and took birth into an Asur clan in his second life.

As an Asur, until and unless, his soul and body unites with a stronger witch, only then his curse will be triggered.

However, the witch whom he abducts to torture and make her suffer, has actually been sent by the divines to help him out in cultivation as she is one of the stronger cultivator among the divines- the only female to have high cultivating strength. But ever since, she was under Bennett clan’s, her powers were blocked.

She slowly starts to fall in love with the cold-hearted devil. He himself did not realize that a love seedling had sprouted in his heart until one day while he was forcing himself on her and torturing, she cried out.

“I already gave you my heart and soul, do you still have to torture me?”

"We are far enough away from the village. Let us stop here for a moment." The executive told Jack as he turned around to face him. 

"So, Jack, as an inner member, you understand this test all too well, correct?" 

"That is correct, we had the same test for my advancement to my current rank within the household." Replied Jack, wondering when they were going to begin. 

"Very good, I should warn you, this test will be done a little differently. You see, depending on how strong you now are, will determine how our household will determine your fate within the alliance. If you meet the requirements to become a core member, our household will support your side, however, if you aren't at least that strong, you will be on your own once we arrive back at the city." 

"As for your other friend Natalia, she is in the same position. I just hope that you both pass this test, otherwise, it will be much harder for you both individually. Now time to explain this test in detail once again so there is no confusion." 

"You are to attack me at full strength. You will use your best techniques and are to continuously attack with your killing intent. The test will end once you run out of energy and collapse onto the ground, or, if I deem you strong enough for a single promotion. Understood?" asked the expert while Jack listened closely. 

"Understood." With that single reply, Jack hopped back, giving both men space between each other. Jack was not nervous since the test only allowed him to attack at full strength. He would not be the one being attacked, which meant that he can feel comfortable unleashing his all. 

"I must warn you, right now I am wearing thick enough body armor to prevent your dagger from leaving a heavy wound on my body. Good luck, Jack!" shouted the executive as he placed his arms behind his back which was taunting him. 

Instead of dashing forward right away, Jack casually pulled out his daggers. Like a peaceful monk, Jack stared at the expert in front of him with very clear eyes. It was almost as if Jack was not a killer, rather, a protective disciple of Buddhism.

Slowly waving his arms up and down, it was as if Jack was creating a small illusion. His arms were neither moving fast or slow but held within them was a power which could not be measured or seen. This technique gave the expert conducting this test goosebumps on his body! 

"This is the illusion art, but how is he not giving out any killing intent?" the expert thought as he took his hands behind his back and set up a defensive stance. "Using this technique in such a way, is enough for him to easily enter the core member rank. No, this is enough for him to receive that rank with additional resources!" 

"Good, you seem ready for my attacks now." Jack casually said as his eyes became sharper and it seemed as if he fell forward before dashing at his full strength towards his opponent. By leaning forward so much, this allowed Jack to focus entirely on his offense without worrying about his openings. This was his fastest dashing method, but in a normal battle it left quite a few openings. 

"Come!" not feeling any killing intent coming from Jack, the expert became rather angry. Within any household, it was extremely difficult for warriors to hide their killing intent from others. Being in a more assassin type household, it was a requirement for executive level experts to be able to do this flawlessly when facing weaker opponents. 

For Jack to be able to hide his killing intent with ease against a stronger opponent as himself, this meant that Jack had even more potential than this expert had. During a battle like this, the expert wanted to stop Jack to tell him that he passed, however, part of him wanted to see just how formidable Jack became. This expert, his loyalty to the household was unwavering and once he saw that someone from a younger generation had potential, he wanted to protect them. 

In what could only be described as an instant, Jack appeared under this expert's body while he stabbed both knives towards him. In this moment, the expert jumped in midair, making Jack completely miss his target! Grabbing both of Jack's arms, he then flipped him while still in midair, making Jack's body seem as if it was simply floating away! 

With his feet touching the ground again, Jack had to stab his daggers into the ground to prevent him from being pushed too far away from his target. Not understanding why this expert chose to act in this way, Jack wanted nothing more than to simply kill him! 

-On the other side of the village- 

"So, Natalia sweetie, tell auntie what type of spells you can now cast without any chants." The witch asked Natalia as they both sat next to each other on the ground right outside the village. 

"How did you know that I can now do that?" caught off guard, Natalia questioned the witch. 

"A full report of the incident was brought to the alliance and I looked over every small detail. For you to be able to not only kill all those warriors, but to even last in a more endurance driven battle and coming out on top, that takes far more strength than a simple apprentice witch." The witch replied as she tapped Natalia lightly on the hat in a playful manner, causing her hat to cover her eyes. 

"To answer auntie, I am now able to cast the Fire Ghouls spell without any issues. According to our household's requirements, when an apprentice witch that specializes in fire spells can do this, that apprentice witch could become an inner member of the household." Natalia explained to the witch as she lifted her hat out of her eyes. 

"Fire Ghouls spell? That is correct, however, you should know the requirements for a core member of the household is to have enough mana to last you thirty minutes while casting spells." Standing up, the witch replied to Natalia with a look of joy in her face. In their household, every member regardless of strength were extremely close compared to other households. This was because, not every household were able to have even their weaker members learning spells or buffs.

Having enough mana to do this while still weak, was due to their bloodline. So, while other households often recruited commoners who showed enough potential, a household like Natalia's were solely bloodline related. 

"Our household will absolutely support you even though you are now only promoted to an inner member. I must warn you that if you do not take the test to become a core member right now, we will not be able to shield you entirely."

"If your friend can become a core member as well as you, both of our households would come together. Once this is done, you both would not feel any pressure from the rest of the alliance since the Crimson household is neutral and only the Moon household has some ill intentions." Now pointing to a small field in front them, the witch started to close her eyes to concentrate. 

Within just a few moments, the surrounding patches of grass started to lose the life in them and died instantly. While this was all happening, the ground started to turn tougher and what could only be described as an array started to form! 

This was the power of an executive level expert who specialized in spell casting. This witch specialized in the earth element, and with her current mana, she was more than capable of casting a level three earth spell in order to create this array. 

"Are you ready Natalia?" no longer referring to her as a sweetie, this witch's facial expression now became extremely serious. "For the next thirty minutes, you are to cast as many spells as you can into that array. Thanks to its circular shape, any fire spells you throw at it, will remain inside. Just in case, I left some room if a small spark falls out unexpectedly. Last thing we want, is for you to be responsible for burning up this entire grassland." Letting out a small chuckle, the witch sat down for a second time. 

"Understood." At this moment, though Natalia was not confident in lasting the whole thirty minutes without collapsing, she felt headstrong to tackle this test. When she saw Jack's new power, she was confident that he could pass his test, which meant, that the rest was up to her! 

"Begin!" the witch shouted as Natalia started to cast her low leveled spells without any chants. Natalia was not sure how many spells she would need to cast in this time frame in order to qualify, so she went at a very steady pace.
