The witch hunter, hunting for the witch in black. His sword ready to taste blood drenched in sins. His focus, his mission is to kill. His belief is to rid of the creatures of the night for the greater good; to eliminate the abominations that offends god. Walking deep into the forest he felt her near. The witch hunter felt her hiding behind him. His sword vibrated from the craving of the witch's blood. The blade bound to the hunter, it knew what needed to be done. He hid waiting for her to come out. The hunter didn't wait for long. The witch in black was searching for him. He stepped out of dark shadow with his sword pointing to her back. She froze.

The witch in black couldn't believe he caught her she took each breath slowly. As precious as it was it soon would be over she would face this witch hunter with pride. If death finally came to collect his part she would die staring at her executioner's face. She slowly spun and his sword rose higher. It pointed to her bare neck. She looked deep into his eyes, the witch felt his heart beat on her skin. What is this new feeling that's taken over her? What has he done? did he bewitched her? is she undera spell she didn't know? how to break away from it?

  Life! the look on her face confused him. There he stood with his sword threathing her very exitense and yet her face wore life as if she taste sweet wine for the first time. Hie knees went weak he couldn't understand why. Blasphemy! is he under a spell? The witch hunter must slide his thirsty blade across her throat. He froze, he couldn't bring himself to do it. The witch raised a finger and place it so gently it seemed like kissing a poisonous snake.

 The witch in black wasn't sure why she dared herself to touch the weapon, she didn't want to push her luck but she smiled at the hunter. Why was she smiling to this man who all he do is kill her kind. She looked down and gasped at the flowers he stepped on and crushed with his filthy boot. She slowly kneeled down and gently touched the petals. The flowers came back to life.

His curosity won over him. He slowly dropped down next to her to watch the miracle her fingers alone could make. The hunter carefully touched the flowers. He didn't understand only god could create life. Why did she possesed the power of god?

The witch in black saw the questions written all over his face. She wanted to show him her world. The witch grabbed his hand and anxiously waited waited for his approval. When he nodded she smiled pulled him and ran. She hoped she could make him understand not all witches are bad. The witch took the hunter to her garden. It was beautiful she was happy to show her hard work. It was the first time anyone seen her garden. She let go of his hand and kiss a white rose that looked sad. It bloomed as she went to the hunter. She wondered what he thought.

The Witch Hunter strolls through the woods. The sky is of winter grey—the way it always has been. The chilly air fogs his deep breaths. He longs—no, he dreams of that certain shade of blue on the horizon, one that is a perfect reflection of the southern oceans. Except that he has never seen those oceans before. It is only but a fantasy tucked at the back of his mind. For now, he could only dream, imagine and yearn for the scent of salt and ships. Why was he born in the far North? He loathes this place with all his heart. The north where there are only snow-capped mountains, monotonous towns comprised of stone houses, limited quarries and… witches. 
A scent swishes past his nose and he grits his teeth. 'Speak of the devil.' he grimaces. It is the scent of witchcraft—the prickling tang of their magic or hocus pocus or whatever they call it. Despite the fast beating of his chest, the Witch Hunter is glad to know that he won't spend the rest of the night with an empty stomach. A witch is worth pouches of gold coins after all. He will bring the wench to be appraised to town, and depending on the quality, he might not even need to hunt for those devils anymore. 
The Witch Hunter follows the smell, and as he walks through a bend, he knows that there is blood. It smells like metal, an arid kind of metal that churns his stomach. He can't seem to get used to it. 
He walks past the bushes, careful not to rustle the leaves. He does his best to take light steps, moving only to make the barest of sound possible—or perhaps none at all. This is what he's trained for. He is a soldier, the kind that specifically excels in ridding the world of the blight brought upon by witches. 
Although all his efforts to stay undetected was for nothing—the witch has already spotted him. 
He straightens his back to get a better look. Standing on the forest clearing was a girl no more than eighteen. But no matter what, she is not eighteen. Those demons can alter their appearances. She—it might even be a hundred years old. It may look like a girl, but it is not. And he needs to go for the kill. 
The soil around it has stains of crimson that glints a bright red as it catches the faintest light of the northern woods. Hacked bodies and limbs torn with bones jutting out of them surrounded her slim figure. Her black skirt has blood sputtered everywhere. 
The Witch Hunter clicks his tongue. "What a mess." He unsheathes his long sword with a satisfying ring to it. 
The monster merely tilts its head to the side, pale and eerie eyes unblinking. "Another Witch Hunter," the witch whines. "When will you ever let me rest?" 
He almost laughs at this child-like behavior. For a moment, he is fooled that it really is eighteen, but only for a moment. 
The Witch Hunter launches on his feet. A split-second later, his face is a mere inches away from the witch. It did not even bat an eyelid. He tries to go for the neck, but the witch's arm has already flicked him away. His back slams unto a tree with a heavy thud. 
He attempts to stand, but he freezes midway. Eyes of ghostly white loom over him. Its pupils are not clear, as if almost all of its eyes were milk—a milk gone sour, expired milk, stale milk, all the milks gone wrong. Still, he is unable to take his gaze off of them. It feels as though it is looking at him, but at the same time it is not.
"You are blind." says the Witch Hunter. 
He notices the faint tug on the corners of her full lips. "So what if I am?" 
The Witch Hunter flinches. His prize is right in front of him, why is he having a conversation with it? "I am going to kill you." He fumbles for his sword without averting his gaze. Perhaps he is afraid that it will run away, or maybe he can't just stop staring into those strange eyes.  
The witch giggles—a sound so sweet and melodic. It sends chills crawling down his spine. "With what?" 
Finally, he drops his gaze to the ground and breaks eye contact. The devil chuckles at his state. He searches for his sword, but it is gone. His weapon disappears in thin air. Well, he has more blades strapped inside his fur coat—
His body moves on its own, slumping down at the base of the tree. "What did you do to me, witch?" he growls. 
He should not have bothered to ask. The Witch Hunter was rendered motionless by this monster—this blind monster's dark magic. 
"Stay still, let me sit for a moment." says the witch in a casual manner as she settles beside him. 
The Witch Hunter forces himself to thrash and throw himself. He could not even struggle. If it weren't for the fact that he can speak, he might as well be an inanimate object at this point. 
He closes his eyes briefly, allowing himself to breath. "What is your game?" 
Again, a stupid question—he already knows what this wretch is up to. She will toy with him, torture him and god-knows-what. He is aware that he is about to become her plaything. 
"Game?" asks the witch with an innocent tone. "There is no game. I just want to rest." 
"Lies," the Witch Hunter hissed. "You are taking your time before you eat me." 
The witch laughs, her eyes unfocused and distant—looking, but not looking. "Why would I want to eat you? You have eyes, do you not? There are bodies beyond the clearing yet I take neither a bite of any." 
He swallows, but he does not relent. This is a 'witch', he is talking to. There must be some kind of trick lying beneath those words. Their kind is like that after all—they know only of deceptions and lies. "Then you are saving me for later." 
This time the demon cackles a high-pitched laugh, one truly befitting for a witch. "You are amusing, human. Heed my advice and humble yourself." 
The Witch Hunter only knits his brows. He could not understand the predicament he is in. Why is a witch keeping him alive? Why is a witch talking to a human? He should really just ask it. Ask the spawn of evil why it is taking long to tear him apart. But this spawn of evil has lovely eyes. This spawn of evil has silky black hair flowing into soft waves down its waist. 
So instead, he asks. "What is your name?" 
The witch does not answer. 
He tries again. "How old are you?" 
Not a word. 
The Witch Hunter sighs. That is it. He has given up—on his life, on his dreams. He now knows that he will never be able to see the southern oceans. Well, if he might as well die then why not have a lovely talk with a lovely witch before it happens? He should get this creature to talk, somehow. Or he'll die a rather boring death. 
"You are blind." he begins. "Yet how can you see? How were you able to kill those men?" 
'How were you able to know I was coming when I was still miles away?' 
An emotion crosses the witch's well-framed face. This time, she answers. "It does not mean that when I am blind, I cannot sense what is happening around me." 
He didn't bother restraining himself anymore. The Witch Hunter turns his head towards the witch and looks at her longer than he ever did. "Yes but, how do you do it?" 
The demonic creature shrugs. "I feel the vibrations—vibrations of footsteps on the earth, of breathings, of the wind," it pauses for a while. "…and of heartbeats." one side of its upper lip lifted. "Stop looking at me like I am some animal, human." 
The Witch Hunter grins. "So you are aware what expression a person makes as well." 
"Most of the time, but yours is very easy to discern." says the witch with a shrug. 
He lifts a brow. "What does that mean?"
"It means that you are an idiot." 
The Witch Hunter scoffs as he leans the back of his head on the tree—it is the only part that he has control of. He raises his eyes to the gloomy afternoon sky. "You do not know me, witch."
"Probably," it says. "But I do know that your heart is unsteady. You want something you cannot have, don't you?" 
He wants to run his hands through his blonde hair, but they hang limp—along with his arms and legs—on his sides. "Really now, you are acting rather chummy with me. Are you fine with that?"
The devilish creature sighs deeply. "Hypocrite human, did you not just ask for a maiden's name and age earlier?" 
The Witch Hunter snorts. "You are no maiden." 
Its shoulders twitch. Did he press on a burn that is not supposed to be pressed? But then again, since when did witches have emotions? They are as good as feral beasts. Though the girl beside him surely does not look like one.
The witch does not speak for awhile. The silence was maddening. Plus, he could not move. So he breaks the painful quiet surrounding them. "Can't you just use magic to restore your sight? It is easier that way." 
"Ah, you are correct, I can do that. In fact, it requires only a moderate spell." says the witch. "But I choose not to." 
His head instantly whips towards the witch. "Why?"
Maybe he has a chance of surviving after all. This witch is clearly not right in the head. He could bear the shame of running from a fight, but at least he will live for another day. 
"The world is ugly." says the witch. "I refuse to see it." 
The Witch Hunter shakes his head with disbelief—he thought the creature was being impossible. "That's rich coming from a witch. Have you even felt a day of hunger? I bet that with a flick of your wrist, food just magically appears in front of you."
The witch closes its eyes and exhales excruciatingly. "You are a hopeless fool. Do you think we need food? We do not starve, unlike your kind." 
"Truly," he smirks. "How pitiful it must be for us humans, to not even be able to go a day without bread." 
The demon's brows furrow—she definitely doesn't appear as a demon. 'But she is,' the Witch Hunter insists on himself. 'She is.' 
"Be quiet and hear me out." it demands. 
He nods.
"Food is but a materialistic thing to us." the witch heaves in a breath—at this moment, it looks human. But it isn't. It continues. "But I saw how my sisters fell upon the deception of men. How they loved them wholeheartedly, passionately. You will never feel how it is to see them so devastated when they come home from being broken, used, forgotten and abandoned. You will never know how it feels to watch their bodies being burned in the pyre. Their immortality reduced to ashes just because they had trusted humans. And then after all that, they repeat the damned cycle again and again—fall in love and get betrayed in the end. So I decided not to watch anymore." 
Tears glisten down her rosy cheeks. The Witch Hunter realized that now, she is just as human as he—exposing herself raw and bare. He did not know why a witch would open up to him like this. Perhaps she needed someone to vent her bottled emotions and he has been the one to conveniently pass by. Perhaps she might even kill him after that. Nevertheless, he did not mind listening—not at all.
"Then you are a greater fool than I." he says softly, almost like a whisper. 
"And why is that, human?" she says with a smooth tone, not a trace in her voice that she is hurting.
"You rid yourself of sight and yet here you are, the sadness and loneliness keeps haunting you forever." 
She laughs. "Do not attempt to offer me words of guidance nor encouragement, human. I do not need them. At the very least, I am doing something about my own feelings." 
The Witch Hunter cocks his head back. "What, do you think I am not doing anything about mine?"
"You are stuck in your fantasies. Are you really contented with just that?" 
He did not take the time to make guesses on how the witch knew of the things he longs for. He just let her be.
"Well, I can't do anything about that now, can I?" he says, and then he smiles as he looks at her. "But suppose you could grant me three wishes?"
The witch laughs, one that is pure and sincere. "I am not a genie." 
He draws a long breath. The hope brimming within him flickers away. But the witch continues to speak.
"Though I do have magic." she faces him. "You have entertained me. Tell me what you want, human." 
The Witch Hunter imagines the howling winds of the southern oceans, blowing his golden locks off his face, the salty air a savory pleasure. The sky above it is a gleaming sapphire, the seagulls squawking and flapping. The sails and masts of large ships readied on the dock, the cheerful sailors hefting up cargo. For a moment, he is there, arms thrown wide. The southern oceans spread in a blue sparkling sheet beyond yonder. But instead of being there, he says:
"I want to know your name."

Zin asked Leona how she got hold of that many chips, and she said that she looted a city that the monster swept past. The Korean peninsula south of SMCP was practically wiped out by the monsters, and Leona rode the junk wagon north while collecting all the chips from the destroyed cities.

And at the moment, all those chips became energy for Zin. Leona headed towards the fortress. She came without knowing what Zin would do to her. She brought a large number of chips and asked Zin to train her as a hunter.

"I am pretty sure that you are the best hunter out there. As soon as I can defend myself, I will get lost, so don't worry about it."

Leona did not want to live as a weakling. She had her reasons to become a hunter herself. Of course, Zin laughed loudly at her comment.

"Good excuse."

Leona frowned at his words.

"Can you stop laughing it off? This is a serious matter for me, you know?"

In the wilderness, monsters were not the only threat. Just as the hunters did not only hunt monsters, Leona wanted to become a hunter to protect herself from other humans.

"Your physical limitation cannot be overcome by gaining new skills."

"But it would at least help me, no?"

"… Sure."

Zin sighed, and Leona smiled as she was happy that she won the argument.

"But what are you exactly? Why do you gain energy by eating chips?"

Leona asked Zin about how he could resuscitate after eating chips.

Zin spoke as if was not a big deal.

"Half of my body is made up of a machine. And the machine requires chips to operate. Got it?"

"Ohh… that's cool…"

As Leona was marveling at the fact, Zin didn't know what to do. Leona was the first person who reacted this way after hearing about the Darkborn energy.

"Are all hunters like that?"

"No, not all of them."

It was not something easily explained, and Leona didn't ask further. Zin's body was built with a fortified frame, and he had far superior strength than ordinary people. However, he was not able to utilize battle skills and support skills, and he had a time-limited life.

Zin didn't talk about that fact.

And he also didn't talk about the fact that he needed to drink the devil's blood.

Zin and Leona started heading north as planned.

"What are you going to do?"

The question had many meaning. How would they find the devil, how would they kill it, and how would Zin make Leona a hunter.

It was question about where they were headed.

"Even if we find the devil, I cannot kill it."

"Why not?"

"That devil's got the power of an immortal. It's relatively weak compared to other powers though."

"What is an immortal?"

"Seal?"

"Yes, sealing. To be exact, that witch is a collection of devils."

"I'm sorry, but I have been trying to guess what you were talking about? Can you explain it so that I can understand?"

"That monster is a mixture of alien, demon, immortal, witch, and a vampire. I don't know for sure… but it might have the power of dragon and ghost as well."

What Zin had to do was pretty clear.

"I will need to seal the power of the immortal that the witch possesses, and kill her with the Phantomvein."

Leona kept on nodding as if she was tired to even say 'I don't understand. First step was sealing the power of the immortal to remove that power from her. And second step was killing the witch with Phantomvein or with any weapon with magical power.

At the moment, Zin's priority was to gain the power to seal, and strength the weakened Phantomvein.

"So where are we going?"

"We have to choices. Look for a seal expert, or extract the power of seal from a seal field."

"What are you going to do?"

"There's a place called heavenly power castle two months away in the north."

Zin looked far north.

"We'll head there first."

"So there's a seal field there?"

"Yes, at the heavenly power castle, there's an immortal sealed underground."

Zin and Leona started walking fast.

The white witch was not a complete immortal, so Zin didn't need to draw the full power of the seal.

"Am I wrong to think that this is something dangerous?"

"It is dangerous. The immortal might get freed up by mistake."

"…"

Leona shook her head at Zin's calm voice. It was as if Zin was looking for bigger trouble.

Looking for the devil was not the priority. They had to look for the tools to hunt the devil. Leona thought of something and asked Zin.

"Shouldn't we rather look for the seal expert? That would be less dangerous."

"Unfortunately, I don't where he is. And I don't know him either."

It was better to go to a familiar place than searching for one person around the world.

"What is a seal expert? It that a magician?"

"Magician… you people still belief in such lies?"

Zin smiled. He thought how magic or conjuring were not that different.

"The seal expert is a devil hunter like myself."

At his words, Leona opened her eyes wide."

"To be exact, he's an Immortal hunter. Ah… you must be learning about this for the first time."

Leona did not know about the devil hunter, and she didn't understand what it meant.

"Devil hunters are asked to take care of specific devils professionally. Immortal hunters have such seal power for those reasons."

"Ah… is that so? Then what are you in charge of?"

Zin watched Leona for a while.

"Well I didn't specialize in a one thing. If I were to pick one, I'd be a witch hunter"

"Are you joking? It's not funny."

At Zin's words, Leona's face became pale.

"I'm not kidding."

And Zin was not kidding as well. Zin kept walking forward without looking at the face of Leona. And Zin added.

"The exception on you is therefore a special one."

In fact, Zin was a witch hunter.

And it was hard for Zin that he was making exception for Leona. As Leona looked at Zin, she felt this strange feeling swirling in her.

"I feel like I have gotten a weird confession."

The black hawk was vigilant, and made sure that the witch was safe. And it was covering the witch with its feathers until the witch woke up.

The black hawk cuddled in front of the witch, and the witch gently stroked the head of the big black hawk.

"If it weren't for you…"

The battle against the Wargrave soldier was fierce, but the attack from the devil hunter was especially deadly as it brought soul crushing pain to the witch. And in fact, if took away some power from the witch. And if the witch didn't have the power surge, she might have been killed on the spot.

The witch kept on gently stroking the black hawk as she was very thankful.

I was too cocky.

She thought that she could take down the Wargrave fortress by herself, but she was stopped by a single soldier. On top of that, the devil hunter appeared to kill her.

She thought it was just a legend. She thought that people who feared the devils created such myth, and even if the devil hunters existed, they should have been disappeared in a devil-less world.

But as soon as she engaged on the first battle, the devil hunter appeared. And even though the devil hunter had his chest pierced, the white witch could not forget the murderous eyes of the slaughterer.

A true devil hunter would not have died so easily.

The witch felt goosebumps all over her body. Her body was blown up by a single gunshot, and she felt her soul getting shredded as she was slashed by the weird sword.

And the witch was freaking out by the thought that such hunter was coming after her. The witch thought that her power was dominating. But as she experienced her first defeat, she realized that things were not as easy as it seemed.

And the witch thought that she was fortunate to be defeated early on. She was lucky to have encountered a strong foe like the devil hunter.

The witch spoke as she gently stroked the black hawk.

"I can't do this by myself."

She was able to survive the battle because she quickly summoned the black hawk. She was strong, but she was alone.

It was clear what she had to do. If she was alone, she had to recruit more powerful monsters. The monsters in the Korean peninsula were weak, but she could gather more powerful monsters from different areas. As soon as she could gather an army of powerful monsters, she would be able to wipe out fortresses without a sweat.

And the devil hunter would be vulnerable in front of the army of monsters.

The revenge would have to be postponed, but the world would be facing a true destruction when the witch would reappear.

"Let's go."

The witch rode on the back of the black hawk, and the black hawk started to flap its giant wings.

The black hawk rose up high in the sky and started flying away.

Nobody knew where they were heading.

Zin and Leona were heading towards north. They were not off the Korean peninsula yet, but they hoped that they would be out of the peninsula in about a week.

Although the civilization was extinct, there were still four seasons. Nobody tracked dates anymore, but Zin was able to know the date based on the clock on the Darkborn.

The month was August past July.

"Crap…"

Leona was walking and huffing under the scorching sun.

"It's hot… I'm dying of thirst…"

It was a scorching hot weather that was unbearable for Leona who usually didn't complain about pain. The sun was strong, and under the burning sun, Leona was sweating like a pig even though she rolled up her sleeves and pants.

However, Zin still had his coat on, but he was walking without a sweat.

"Any way I look at it, I don't think I'm a devil at all."

"You do think so, right? What kind of devil suffers under the hot sun? Crap! This is not fair!"

Leona was cursing at the sun, but nothing happened as the sun kept shining with heat. It seemed unfair for Leona. She was identified as a witch and mistreated by Zin, but she did not have any power or benefit for being a witch.

[Nina sighs and starts to cry]

Carly: So she usually misses the whole day?

Jordan: no she only skips half of the day. Want to try her house?

Carly: yeah come on

[they run to Nina's house]

[they get to Nina house and the door is cracked]

Carly: Nina?

Jordan: you there?

Carly: What happened here?

Jordan: I don't know but I'm going to check up stairs to see if anybody is here

[Jordan goes upstairs]

Carly: helloo

[Carly see the gun with blood on it]

*Breaking voice* Carly: oh my god

[comes down the stairs]

Jordan: what happened

Carly: it's a gun with blood on it

Jordan: b-b-but its not hers we don't know if its hers

Carly: umm try to to see her 

[Jordan tries to see her but then his head started hurting]

Jordan: ouch!

Carly: what happened did you see her 

Jordan: no it felt like something is blocking me 

Carly: call your dad. I think I know who is 

Jordan and Carly: witch hunters

[Carly go to her house]

Carly's mom: hey 

Carly: hey mom umm I'm about to go to Jordan's house and study with him and Nina

Carly's mom: o-ok

Carly: ok I'm just going to get some books

[Carly goes upstairs]

Carly: come on where is it?  it right here

[Carly looks in the closet]

Carly: YES! The door is back

[she goes inside]

Carly :ok it has to be something in here to find her

[she sees a crystal with letter]

Carly:  woah is that

[she reads from letter]

Carly: "this automatically connects you to your family member you just have to think which one you want to connect to"

Carly: thanks dad

[she goes down stairs]

Carly: bye mom I love you and I always will

Carly's mom: ok love you too

[she goes outside and gets in the car]

Jordan's dad: look I understand that you guys need help but I can't keep helping you guys everyday now. Ok?

Jordan: Nina is in trouble 

Jordan's dad: what happened

Carly: the witch hunters took her 

Jordan's dad: I have something to find her 

Carly: don't worry I have something too

[Carly holds the crystal to her chin with her hands held tight]

Carly: go straight 

[she continues to tell him where to go]

Carly: last one

Jordan: you sur-

Carly: hush! Left

Jordan's dad: I know this place, this is the old place that we used to go to

Carly: we?

Jordan's dad: me and Liam

Carly: I should've known he was behind this. were  going in

[they go in]

Carly: MOTUS!!

[two man go flying back]

Carly: where is my sister 

Witch hunter: s-s-she's down there 

Carly: great 

[Carly punches him]

Carly: Nina!

Nina: Carly?! No stay there 

Carly: here I com-

[Nina hear slashes]

[Carly gasp] 

Jordan: CARLY!!

Nina: NOOOOOO!!!

[Nina breaks out of the salt]

Nina: Incendia

Carly moves closer to the school where her dad used to work at and she finds out things she didn't know about him.was he then man the she used to know? find out in MUST BE MAGIC

SALEM: I didn't have a way with words. That was Elina's skill. But she was saying nothing, so I handled things my way.

I said, "You're not a merchant, are you?"

Behind me, I heard Elina sigh. With disappointment. Maybe I ruined her fun. Or maybe she wished I was more subtle.

Syrus said, "What makes you think that?"

I pointed out everything that was wrong with his lie. He smiled and nodded. In a flash he drew his sword and pointed it at my throat. His wife, Julia, aimed an arrow at Elina.

Fast. Faster than me. Instinct told me that he was a skilled fighter. Maybe better than me. But he took the initiative and therefore had the advantage. However I wasn't dead yet. Which meant he didn't intend to kill — at least for now.

I stayed still. So did Elina. But her eyes were curious.

Syrus said, "But your lie is just as bad...hmm, fellow witch hunter?"

Fellow?

"You're a witch hunter?" I asked.

"Mm-hmm. But the question is...why are you traveling with a witch and calling her your wife?"

I raised an eyebrow. Elina's disguise was perfect. She was the stereotypical towns girl. One out of millions. I glanced at her. No sign of magic. She was just like a human.

Which meant that Syrus was bluffing. But why would he try to bluff about something like this?

I said, "My wife isn't a witch."

Syrus wrinkled his nose. "Don't make a fool of me. Can't you smell it? Her magic is everywhere in this hut." He licked his lips. "I can taste it."

I glanced back at Elina. She shrugged and shook her head.

I've never heard of a witch hunter who could smell magic with his nose. I've heard of dogs who could do that, but not men.

He wasn't a dog, but I guess he wasn't bluffing either. No point in keeping up this lie if it has gone this far already.

I said, "Alright. Yes, she is a witch."

"And why would a witch hunter travel with a witch? Have you given into her seduction techniques?"

"I'm not that weak."

"Then why haven't you killed her? Even going as far as calling her your wife."

I said, "Put your sword down and I'll tell you."

He looked at me. I looked at him. We saw something in each other. Something we both recognized. Something neither of us really liked. A hardness in our eyes, a reason for living that would lead to death.

Syrus nodded. He sheaved his sword, but his wife kept her arrow aimed at Elina.

"Your wife is a witch hunter?" I asked.

"Yes."

"You don't see female witch hunters every day."

"You don't see a witch hunter and a witch calling each other husband and wife every day either."

True.

I said, "Let's talk outside. Your wife can watch Elina."

I glanced back at Elina. "Do anything and she'll kill you."

Elina smiled. I didn't like that smile. It wasn't that smug and mischievous smile she usually wore. It was the smile of a killer.

She changed back into her normal form. Silver hair and silver eyes. But something was different. Her hair glowed and glittered without sunshine. Like the magic in her was boiling. Dying to kill.

Julia took a step back.

I said, "Don't worry. She's got gransia handcuffs on her. She won't be able to harm you."

Or at least I hoped that was still true. I still didn't know what happened to that green eye bastard's friend. The knight from the Church of Deliverance.

Syrus and I stepped outside.
