Karlo's Coven assembled in the White House 's driveway. All of us brought an overnight bag. The girls' bags were brimming to the seams. 'Overnight meant bringing our toiletries too, right?'  I think the boys just bought their toothbrushes and that was it. Except for Alexis' bag. It was the biggest! We reminded him that the invitation for us was for a night only. 

"You know nothing country bumpkins! Haven't you heard of emergencies?" Alexis said, slightly irritated. 

"Stay as long as you want, Alexis," Mr. Huang said without teasing.

"Thank you, Mr. Huang, " Alexis said. 'See?' He seemed to be saying. 

A black Land Cruiser pulled over. Mr. Frederick Huang and his son Gary rode on it. We were surprised that Gary was not riding with us. We asked Mr. Huang to let Gary join us in our ride. He looked at Gary, letting him decide. Gary said we would travel in convoy so we would still be travelling together. We were disappointed at first but we figured that Gary just wanted to be polite with his dad. 

The personal Mercedes Benz van of Grandpa Anton pulled over. That elicited oohs and aahs from the coven. We were delighted that Grandpa Anton let us use his van. His personal driver was even the one driving. 'But of course, only the best for his grandsons.' On second thought, I suspected that even if it was just us farm kids, Grandpa Anton would still let us use the van. We just haven't had the chance to ask him. He was generous like that. 

We all climbed to the luxurious van. I was seated of course with who else but Justine. Mel made sure Karlo can't escape her clutches. Marion and Via sat with Auntie Aida who was already having some headache with our noise. Victor couldn't care less where he sat. He just wanted to sleep, he said. Alexis sat in front. He declared that he'd take care of our road trip playlist. 

The farm was one hour away from the nearest expressway. It was a scenic winding road. Rice fields  and orchards blanketed each side of the road. The crops signaled the beginning or end of the season. It was summer so the rice stalks were golden yellow and heavy with grains. The smell of ripened mangoes filled the air too. I could almost taste that sweet-tangy flesh of my favorite tropical fruit.  This was the road of my youth. Traversing it always gave that giddy feeling of adventure and possibilities. That no matter how long and winding it was, the destination was always full of surprises. 

There was a favorite clearing where my father and I would often stop on our rare trips to the city. I wanted to show it to Justine and the gang. I requested Uncle Danny, the driver, to please make a short stop there. 

Alexis chose a fantastic playlist. Soon, we were doing carpool karaoke. Victor who vowed to sleep didn't escape the gang's rowdiness. He was soon singing the loudest. The gang introduced the New Yorkers to some local bands. They absolutely loved them. One of the bands they adored was Eraserheads. It was actually our parents who introduced us to this band. It was a band that cut across  generations. Our chaperones, Auntie Aida and Uncle Danny recognized the songs. They joined us singing in no time. Alexis and Victor played a game. The former would sing the Filipino lyrics and the latter would translate in English.

Victor's last translation alluded to me. I made face to him. Justine pat my head gently. But I must admit Alexis and Victor were so silly but funny. We couldn't help but joined in the game. We let the brothers sang in Filipino while the rest of us translate the lyrics in English. It was absolutely hilarious. We were rolling with laughter. Marion and Via wished Gary was with us. Yeah. He was missing this. 

The van slowed down when we were near my favorite clearing. The Huang's Land Cruiser beat us to it however. I was happy to find that the BioFeed people knew of the spot too. They were already out of their vehicle. The van stopped and we rushed to get out. We walked to where the Huangs were. An unexpected scene greeted us. Gary was vomiting furiously on the ground. Mr. Huang motioned for us not to approach further. Justine silently led us away to give Gary some privacy. We walked a distance from where Gary was. We stood silently admiring the view from the clearing. I knew however that like me, everyone was worried for him. After some minute, Gary approached us.

"Hey," he said weakly. We turn about-faced. Gary looked pale.

"Hey, " said Justine

"Are you okay, dude?" Alexis said. 

Marion and Via went to him checking his forehead for fever. Gary laughed. 

"Hey, I'm okay. I guess I'm not used to having dinner under the stars. I'm a true-blooded city-boy you know." He chuckled. We just stood silently looking at him. "Really, guys! I'm okay!"

Mr. Huang called on us to continue our journey. We all went back to our vehicles. We all stayed silent. Our worries to Gary lulled us to sleep. I guessed we were a bit guilty for that under-the-stars dinner that caused him to get sick. We didn't notice when we reached the expressway. It was three more hours to the city. 

Auntie Aida woke us up when the van stopped. We were in front of a magnificent building entrance.  We alighted from the van. Two people in sharp uniforms helped us with our bags. Mr. Huang and Gary were already waiting for us inside. A handsome lady was with them. Gary introduced her as his mom, Mrs. Leticia Huang. He hugged us one by one. She thanked us for taking-care of her son. We hugged her back shyly thinking that we did not even do anything. 

The condo was on the 44th floor. It was huge! The furniture and furnishings were exquisite. It was obvious that nobody lived there though. It didn't have the 'lived-in' look. Mrs. Huang showed us our rooms. Even Uncle Danny was assigned a room. 

"I bet you are all hungry," Mrs. Huang said. "Freshen up first. After which, my EA* Jane will bring you to lunch. Can you excuse Gary for a bit? Today happens to be his regular PE*. He'll join you after." 

"Mom!" Gary protested

"Listen to your Mom, dude." Alexis said, with a pained look in his eyes. He was maybe thinking of his own mom. Gary rolled his eyes but he didn't protest when his Mom took his arm and exited the condo unit. 

We looked at one another wondering what was going on. But no one verbalized his or her thought. Also, we were really hungry by this time. All of us retreated to our assigned room to freshen up. Mrs. Huang thought of everything. There were fresh towels in the girls' bathroom. The toiletries smelled divine. I was tempted to take a shower but dismissed it because I knew the boys would be waiting for us. 

As expected, the boys were already waiting with irritation and hunger written on their faces. Mrs. Huang's EA led us to our lunch destination.

I live in a town witch is near the ocean, as a child me and my little brother always hopped to meet spongebob .

One stormy night, my parents were in a deep sleep, me and my little brother jack were still awake, counting the hours for the live stream episode of spongebob.

When the hour turned 11, the episode started, but suddenly a loud strike of lightning hit the TV.

I honestly didn't believe what happened and you won't believe it either, the weirdest thing happened, spongebob was on TV just a second ago, but after that strike of lightning he was on the floor.

I thought it might be an ordinary sponge but it wasn't, my brother got curious, so he got down from the sofa, and pinched the sponge, and it actually made a sound, I think I went crazy back then.

I told jack to stay away from it, but he refused, suddenly the sponge started moving, it stood up!!, and it actually had a pair of feet and arms too😱.

It specked, jack carried him and said: "are you by any chance SpongeBob?".

The sponge said: "hmm..that I am but who might you be young man?".

It was weird, to hear spongebob talking in a formal way isn't it?.

Any ways my brother said: "OMG, your like the real sponge bob😍, can you make a krabby patty burger?".

Spongebob replied "why should I do that?, I don't take orders from young men such as yourself, where am I by the way?".

I think my brother jack was about to cry, so I carried him, and told spongebob "if you can't make it then say so, you don't have to make a kid cry, who are you?, are you really spongebob?, the spongebob I know would never make a kid cry, if anything he would probably be playing with the kid right about now".

Sponge bob replied "I of course know how to make a krabby patty, but I do not wish to make one, and you just said that the spongebob you know.., have we ever met before young lady?".

I got confused, doesn't he know that he is a cartoon character??, so I told him "no we haven't met in person but I always watched over you".

Spongebob said: "who do you think you're talking to, humans can't stay in the water for long, so tell the truth how do you know about me?".

He was scary unlike the spongebob we know, so I told him "actually, I do know you I wasn't lying, it's just I didn't watch over you from the water,  I watched you from the TV".

He said: "wait a second, so your saying you can see what happens in the ocean just like we know what happens in the land?".

I replied to him saying "not exactly, but we do see everything you do, I never thought you were real, I thought you were just a cartoon character".

Sponge bob said: "can you show me myself?".

Jack said "sure, spongebob is a super star after all". 

So we opened the TV, but there wasn't any spongebob on the screen, instead there was a cartoon called The Patrick Star.

I never heard of this show before, but Patrick is definitely sponge bob's friend.

my brother jack was extremely shocked, so he just started crying, I wanted ask him why but I think I know the reason so I didn't dare ask.

But spongebob did, he said: "are you going to show me or not?, and why are you crying kid?".

Jack replied "I won't be able to see you anymore".

It looked like spongebob got confused so he asked "what do you mean?".

Jack said: "it looks like spongebob squarepants got erased from this world, and you will definitely die since you left the ocean, and when you die we might forget about you".

I think my brother had a point there, a world without spongebob is pretty hard to imagine.

Poor spongebob, it doesn't look like he understood anything.

But he said "can't I just go back to the ocean? everything will be solved then right ??"

I thought for a second that this sponge is way smarter than spongebob maybe the water damages his brain or something but his suggestion was definitely worth trying.

So we sneaked out of the house and went to the ocean, and we told spongebob we arrived.

Sponge bob said "thanks, I'll be sure to make a krabby patty the next time we meet ".

Jack smiles and said "I'll be waiting for you" and waived goodbye.

SpongeBob left for the ocean, and the next day we went to watch TV and sponge bob was back.

Jack was happy to see him alive, and so was I .

It wasn't so bad.

She screamed at her now grotesque cronenbergesque golem who was watching her with 5 of her own eyes and an ear where there shouldn't have been an ear. "I never expected this from you Terry! I mean maybe from Garcia, Gaby, Gabriel and even Schmidt! I mean I was seriously waiting for Schmidt to go full on holocaust on us and her name sounded right for it! But you!? I have to say I'm really dissaAAA!!"

She saw the world speed up again. If she was honest, she quite liked seeing the world move at this speed, it almost felt like she was free. If it weren't for the pain that came a moment afterwards when she landed, she thought she might've had an actual appreciation for the activity.

But then she crashes and suddenly the speeding world starts spinning as her eyes bounce around in their sockets. "I've told you many times to call me Gren9..." Gren9 spoke in her hoarse voice. "But just this once I think I'll have to thank you for giving me a real name."

"Really?" She forced a weak smile as her body was lifted up again, something was shaking in her head, was there anything in her body that was supposed to do that?

"Yeah, once I take over your body I'm definitely going to need a new name, and taking your old body and your name... that's a little too much even for me." Instantly her smile was cut short.

"You little..." That was all she was able to get out before feeling her body get swung up over Gren9's head and smashed 2 floors down

Gary was actually doing a lot worse, especially after Panda joined in. She properly proved that her claws and horns weren't just for show especially in her second form as she bounced around the big lug.

Sure each attack probably just scrapped a little off. But with such a big target and her speed, Gary might as well have been shedding.

At first the sand pit was horrible to fight in, but now, it was absolute heaven for Zhao Wei. With flaming silk traps set all around Gary, he almost completely sealed her movements. With any large shifts she would find herself cutting off pieces of her own body, and it worked perfectly in helping panda as she would use her curved claws to hook onto the line and maneuver back for another attack while mid air.

These small attacks were having a huge effect over time. As the damage built up all across Gary's body, these countless little wounds were splitting the recovery speed between all of them, so much so that Gary couldn't pull her fallen arm up fast enough before someone cut the link off and let it fall back down to the ground again. At this point of time, tendrils of silver liquid had been protruding out of almost every part of her body, trying to recover the pieces that were detached and strewn all over this battlefield.

Myra also wasn't letting her get off easy. Her sonic blasts didn't hurt as much at a longer range, probably just scraping the surface off. But with all the open wounds on Gary's body, those blasts kept her recovery from every completely healing any one wound. In fact the bigger ones slowly and surely became worse over time.

None of them could deal a fatal blow, but this attempt was definitely keeping her at bay As Thirteen continued her endeavors. But at this point an intelligent glint appeared in this berserker's eyes.

I worry a bit about my title, but who knows the skill analyse? can people even read my status? well let's not worry about that. The next thing what peaks my interest is heightened senses. Shao Tan was startled for a bit then remembered, "But you're just at gray brand?"

"Just do as I say! Use your Blade Draw on my signal!" Mo said while equipping his mask. Suddenly a white aura with one mark above his head gushed out.

Shao Tan was struck speechless upon sensing Mo's aura. He was confused on how Mo knew his blade skill and how he was able to mark up so fast. But he knows it is not the time for questions yet so he prepared his blade inside the sheath.

"Go!" Mo dashed towards Kana and Shao flanked her from behind.

"You're fast, but not fast enough!" Kana dashed and used her skill. "Wind Slippers."

A gust of wind was felt and suddenly, Kana disappeared from Mo's sight and reappeared right next to him. She pulled out her dagger and stabbed towards Mo's neck.

"Fuck!" Mo was surprised, "Devil's Grin". Like a devil from hell, the mask radiated with evil energy and Mo's stats doubled.

Mo duck down to dodge the strike. He pulled out his short sword and slashed upward. 

"Slither" Kana thought. She agilely dodged the slash by coiling on Mo's hand before retreating with a single jump and again dashed forward. She was about to strike when she suddenly heard.

"BLADE DRAW!" from her right side, a lightning-like blade strike was coming. It was so fast that she did not have time to complete her strike. She was forced to dodge again.

"Soul Eyes" using the time, Mo used his special skill. He scanned and saw that a red mark can be seen on Kana's ankle.

He dashed forward before Kana can recover and slashed.

Kana was about to meet the slash with her dagger and strike back when another blade can be seen right at the corner of her eyes.

She dodged again and this time she jumped back a bit further.

Clearly infuriated. "Brats! I'm fucking done with you!" Her eyes turned red and she shouted "GREEN BANGLE"

Suddenly, her whole body is now covered with green snake scales. Her nails and teeth grew and green liquid can be seen dripping from it. Her aura changed. 

Noticing the change, Mo hastily checked her status and his face paled. He saw that her speed doubled and a "Poison Attribute" is added on her attacks.

"Die!" Kana bellowed and suddenly she spat a ball of green liquid towards the two.

"Dodge!" Mo shouted. He and Shao jumped in fright and hastily dodged. The ball of green liquid dropped at where they were standing before but now the soil has a new hole. Sizzling sound can be heard because of the intense corrosiveness.

"Poison?! Fuck this bitch! Bullying us like this. If only I was at blue brand, I'll chop your head off old c*nt!" Shao barked while pointing at Kana.

"Fuck! Can you shut your mouth up just for a minute?!" Mo facepalmed.

Without saying anything, Her face devoid of emotion, Kana charged towards Shao Tan.

Gordon Cross was panting heavily. Wounds can be seen all over his body. His buckler was already damaged and his lips is pale.

At the other side, only two people remained. The savage was panting hard and his right arm was cut off. His eyes was blood red upon witnessing the death of his companion.

Gary, which was now clad with green snake scales and his modified right arm with a halberd is now dripping with a mix of blood and poison. He was panting too and with a body littered with wounds.

"Green Bangle! My son! Why?!" Gordon said with a hint of grief and regret.

"The Balrog Kingdom needs a new ruler old man, and I,  Gary Cross will be one of the pioneers of it. You do not know how powerful the new Viper Young Master is. He will bring the Drake Valley into the top of the "S" Continent! Surrender old man, this is only the start. Next would be Dawn City and every other cities!" Gary said feverishly.

"You do not know what you're saying! The Kingdom of Balrog will never fall!" Gordon bellowed.

"You are poisoned, you will die and the "Ardor's Seal" will land into Viper Young Master's hand. Drake Valley will rule this continent!" Gary exclaimed.

"Balrog Kingdom shall never fall! I, protect!" Gordon chanted. Suddenly, the text tattoo hidden in his chest started to glow with holy aura. "Bangle of Strength"

"What?! You are one of the Guardians of Balrog?" Gary was shocked.

"I am but a lowly disciple of my master!" Gordon forcefully said, "I shall kill you and cleansed the land of Balrog with your blood! This will be my atonement for my sin of raising an ungrateful child that betrayed his motherland!"

Gordon charged towards Gary and the savage, raising his axe and striking with his full power.

"Charge! He won't last long! His burning his HP to use this strength!" Gary bellowed.

None of them heard any sound of struggling, screaming, or of anyone leaving. The robust and silent Howson, a high-level knight squire, just… disappeared?

A chilly feeling rose from Lucien’s feet and quickly spread all over his body. He held the hilt of his sword tight, and his breathing became heavier. 

He quickly turned his head but saw nothing. The sewer wall on the other side was covered with weird shining green moss. 

Suddenly, a bitter scream broke the deadly silence. Lucien quickly turned and saw a terrifying scene: a monstrous rat as big as a man had tripped Corella and sunk its sharp nails into his shoulder. Blood gushed all over Corella’s silver chain mail, dying it red. The monster had scarlet evil eyes that withered.

However, Corella’s blade stopped its row of long and sharp teeth from causing damage. 

As a knight squire, Corella saved his own life with the most common movement in their training: he thrust the shield on his left hand with all his strength into the rat’s stomach.

Nothing was scarier than the unknown so, at least for Lucien, a huge rat showing itself was much better than an adult man disappearing all of a sudden for no reason.

Lucien took a deep breath and swung his sword of light at the huge rat, to help Corella.

At that moment, a bestial roar came from behind Lucien.

“Gary?” When Lucien was about to turn, a knight saber hacked at his back.

The white light of the shield trembled and dimmed a bit. The huge impact pushed Lucien several steps forward, and he almost lost his balance.

However, the attack didn’t stop there. The saber was chasing Lucien and continuously tried to hurt him. Lucien did his best to dodge it, while having no time to fight back or use his badge. He felt confused and surprised. “Why? Gary?!”

Lucien could not see clearly in the darkness. If it was not Gary, then there was only one possibility: Gary was already dead!

With good timing, the saber gave Lucien no chance to find his balance, and soon he was pushed into the corner. Lucien was surprised that with the protection of the shield he did not get injured from the attacks at all. He took a deep breath and tried to calm down, getting ready for the next attack.

Then, he dodged the saber's assault by throwing himself on the ground. At the same time, his left hand grabbed the badge.

This time, Lucien finally saw who was attacking him. It was the group’s leader, Gary.

Nevertheless, the muscles on his face were contorted, and his eyes were shining with scarlet light. He looked like an insane beast.

The poison from the rats! The poison could deprive human’s consciousness and turn them into bloodthirsty beast! Lucien tried to understand, But why haven’t I been affected?

Without further thinking, Lucien rubbed the badge and started chanting. A round iron shield launched a hard whack on Lucien’s shield of light. Although the shield did not break, the violent impact suffocated Lucien for a second, interrupting his casting.

The continuous whacking prevented Lucien from concentrating. As a promising knight squire, Gary received formal training to interrupt spellcasting. 

A layman like Lucien, with no basic training, would be unable to resist the disturbances from a knight squire. Any trainee pastor or sorcerer apprentice, with a level-one Saint Truth Badge and a Shield of Light could have killed Gary.

In the same level, a spellcaster was always superior. 

While Lucien was being trapped with Gary, Corella could not hold the rat back much longer. His right hand was trembling from the effort of holding the enemy’s mouth away.

Fortunately, the huge humanoid rat also became weaker.

Unable to cast the spell, Lucien changed his mind and swung his sword of light upwards. He knew that his summoned sword was much stronger than the guard’s saber. 

Although the swing did not strike true, the radiance from the sword terrified Gary. He stopped attacking Lucien’s shield and switched to a defensive position hurriedly.

It seemed like he didn’t want to be further apart from Lucien: for a traditional knight, letting his enemy successfully cast a spell would be very dangerous. 

Without any sound of impact, the sword cut Gary’s saber as if it was piece of wood. Gary barely managed to raise his shield in time and block with it, but the sword left a deep crack right in the middle of the shield.

When Lucien was about to launch his next attack the sword of light suddenly turned into thousands of shining pieces, indicating the spell used up all its power. Actually, its power started decreasing at the very beginning, when it destroyed the magic wall concealing the chamber. 

Lucien was unable to react for a moment, and Gary seized the chance, smashing Lucien’s protection with his shield.

Now, Lucien’s sword and shield were both gone.

Having no time to hesitate, Lucien rubbed the badge desperately to cast his last spell.

“S… Ow!”

Before Lucien could spell out the rest of the chant, Gary punched his stomach. Like a cooked shrimp, Lucien cowered in great pain. A wave of strong acid, rising from his stomach, burned his throat.

Gary reached out his hand and squeezed Lucien’s neck, choking him.

Lucien struggled fiercely, and used his right hand to try to free his neck. He felt great pain in his neck and lungs, and his eyes were turning black. The badge in his left hand was being held firmly to his chest by Gary’s other hand.

Lucien could hear his own gasp. He could feel the cold metal glove Gary was wearing. It felt like Lucien’s soul had left his body, and was observing from the side. 

Suddenly, Lucien’s will to survive erupted. His soul power increased dramatically all of a sudden and broke through a certain limit, spreading like water from an ocean.

At the same time, Gary’s strength started disappearing. Lucien got a precious chance to breathe. Learning from his past mistakes, this time Lucien did not waste any time being hesitant or confused. He tried to focus and grabbed the badge again.

As soon as he touched it, Lucien’s spirit suddenly entered into an illusionary world of light, where many lines, circles and triangles formed a weird-looking cross in the air.

Lucien recognized the cross instantly: It was the cross on Benjamin’s badge! And he could feel that Benjamin’s power was continuously coming out of the cross! 

Out of curiosity, Lucien moved closer and tried to touch it. The cross suddenly trembled and started accumulating power. Soon he felt its power became overwhelming!

Feeling the danger, Lucien hurriedly tried to retrieve his spirit back to the real world but it was too late: A white beam of light shot out from the cross and burned his spirit on the side. A strong nauseous feeling hit him. Lucien felt like his head was splitting. And two streams of cool, rusty-metal-smelling liquid came down from his nose.

Suddenly, the light beam somehow materialized and burst out from the badge that Lucien was wearing. Gary did not have a slight of chance to withdraw his hand. Starting from the hand squeezing Lucien's neck, the light beam quickly dissolved his arm and part of his shoulder in seconds like some kind of super-strong corroding acid. There was no blood coming out, and the wounds instantly turned black.

Divine power can be activated without any spell? This surprised Lucien. He quickly dodged to avoid the enemy’s following attack.

However, he felt all his muscles aching and it was hard to move. 

Then, what Lucien saw shocked him greatly: Gary was lying on the ground, dying, with his eyes half open, and the scarlet light on them was gone.

The pool of blood left by the dead rats had evaporated, forming a red mist and pervading the chamber and nearby pipes. 

The weird, human-shaped plant in the corner was stretching its branches cozily in the blood mist.

On the other side lied Corella and Howson, with their own sabres stabbing each other’s back.

long story short when he just turned 24 years old his family found out his hobby and forbid him doing it again, which make him snap and left the family, but he died before even getting out from his family mansion killed by his own family afraid that he would tarnishes their name.

after who know how long I opened my 'eyes' only to be meet with darkness as far as I can 'see', I don't know how I got here because the last thing I remember was trying to leave the main mansion after snapping at those bastard decision, but then I heard a gunshot and lose my consciousness.

hearing the new voice I was calm only when a transparent screen suddenly appeared in front me did I become slightly shocked especially after reading it, I become excited and because it has been a long time since I ever become this excited I hurriedly chose what I want from the screen and only when I was done did I know how foolish I have been.
