They were also training hard as they were determined to kill a rabbit, especially the dragon race as they were prideful, being defeated by a rabbit was their greatest shame for them, they were not like the others who will blame it to the game devs if the game was too hard, no! these dragons don't do that.

The first step was observation. How could you make any of those so-called realistic illusions if you didn't have any concept about connecting them to the appearance of real things. And to make them, what you precisely needed was painstaking observation.
That was what he must build up to make low-grade fantasy cards. 
All of that had serious repercussions. For example, he couldn't help staring at the bread in his hand for six or seven minutes while he was munching on it, so that when he returned to his senses, he would already be hungry to the point of stomach cramps.

The event was really exclusive, but the first row of seats were the most important. All the guests would stare at the people sitting beside them.
There were always uninvited guests though. When Qin Guan arrived in Paris, he turned off his phone, for fear that some Chinese agencies might ask him for help.
Unfortunately, he couldn't avoid Fan Pingping, who was waiting for him outside his hotel room.
Fan Pingping was not as young anymore, but she was still a charming mature woman. She stretched a hand out towards the surprised man, as if they were old friends.
"A gentleman would kiss my hand in Paris. Won't you?"
Qin Guan came back to his senses and took a few steps back. Then he dialled a number on his phone.
"Sister Xue, send Wang Liying over. Yes, I have a female guest. It would be indecent for me to be alone with her."
Sister Xue sounded alert at the other end of the line. Her voice came through the receiver.
"Wang is coming. Keep the door open. Who is there?"
"Fan Pingping."
"Wang, quick!"
Sister Xue hung up. Fan was shocked.
"What are you doing, Qin Guan? You've changed so much!"
Qin Guan didn't feel ashamed. When he saw Wang rushing over to them, he invited Fan in.
"Come in, please. You must have an assistant or agent with you. If this is official business, you can just let them in."
Fan seemed to struggle, but Wang was on guard for any possible danger. She smiled guiltily as she walked into Qin Guan's luxury suite.
"Wow! Qin Guan! Well done! We haven't seen each other for a few years! You can afford a presidential suite now! How much money have you made?"
Fan looked jealously around the room as she sat down on the couch. In two years, the dispensable man she had known had ascended so high that she had to look up at him now.
Suddenly, she made up her mind. Clenching her fists, she explained her purpose for visiting her old schoolmate. She thought they were on the same side after all.


Qin Guan was reborn and sent back to his final semester in High School 18 years ago. Getting a second chance at life, he works hard to turn things around and eventually become a Prince Charming. What will his life be like the second time around? What will he have to go through? How will he succeed in turning from a loser into a Prince Charming? Read this story carefully and find out!

Warning: Some not so happy latter half that comes out of left field because I'm saying my thoughts.

A great man once said: "When I cut my finger, is a tragedy... When you fall into a sewer and die, is a comedy." In this trail of thought, one might decide to be a sadist to their character and play it for laughs.

Not saying that angle won't work or anything. After all, Charlie Chaplin didn't get famous for no reason.

What I'm trying to say is that comedy is derived from the absurd. Things that don't normally happen is happening and no common sense is needed for the fictional characters involved since people being dumb is funny in its own right. I mean, go ask Disney for advice on writing overly dumb characters who couldn't possibly exist in real life at all.

This doesn't mean that a pure comedy needs to be all laughs though. It is becoming strangely more common to weave plot threads together in order to make even more absurd scenarios for the characters involved. I remember watching an Anime called 'Gamers!' about a group of teenagers gradually falling into the rabbit hole of misunderstandings since they wouldn't outright ask each other anything.

It was to the point that Otaku online dubbed it with the meme-like name of 'Misunderstandings: The Anime' in the face of how complicated the story was becoming because of what was happening on screen.

Just me writing the word 'absurd' twice should be enough for those reading this to understand that making it 'out there' is what's comical. Even 'Kaguya Sama- Love Is War' derived its comedy from the absurd humour that is what WOULD happen when two geniuses won't give up in trying to win over the other in their battle of over-the-top scheming.

Reactions that are so over-the-top they are comical in itself are also common to comedies. Even in those fictions that try to balance their comedy with heavier moments that were built to be tear jerkers.

However, to actually be able to overcome the hurdle of making the sadder moments impact instead of making the reader laugh, what is most needed is the inclusion of something 'mundane' in a character's life which can be subverted. There is a reason The Simpson's and other comedy tv shows go back to the status quo after a joke has ended, it is because seeing something mundane turn hilarious is subversive.

And what is comedy if not a subversion of what we are expecting? The reason everything used to laugh in high school when someone fell after another guy pulled his chair before he sat is because something even as mundane as 'sitting' didn't follow the tradition, turning into something they didn't expect.

A long comedy story needs this sense of returning to the status quo even if it has changed a little after the previous punchline. You can't always throw in punchlines without proper build up to it.

There needs to be at least some time for the characters to take in an exciting incident before the next one comes, and that is especially true when it comes to punchlines. It's just how comedy works.

Now you may be thinking of writing a character who has some funny joke that consistently happens in the story. Maybe your character keeps on falling asleep in climactic moments or maybe your comic relief has a catchy catchphrase that he always NEEDS to say.

In the case of the latter: Don't... Just don't...

As for the former, new scenarios for the same joke can lead into an even bigger joke. Bonus points if whatever the character's main joke is actually coincides with some sort of characterisation.

You can have a guy who gets angry all the time have to ACTUALLY go to anger management courses or maybe the guy who falls asleep just doesn't get any most the time due to insomnia. I know something so 'real' shouldn't be funny, but remember my earlier advice, something 'mundane' can ground the story.

To have a higher purpose than just the comedy happening itself, this sense of realism is required and can't be forgotten if you want to make stories that can have a higher impact on the audience.

Generally, you can go berserk with this kind of story since any joke is acceptable as long as they don't are not moral ambiguous and don't go at the expense of a certain group of your audience. I mean, 9/11 jokes may seem funny but we've already got to the point that the terrorism itself is not to be joked about.

On a side note: Why is it that Kyoto Animation burning down is a tragedy but people falling off buildings in 9/11 is funny? I remember a guy even adding cartoon sound to a video of people falling...

Sorry, back to the topic at hand. Your sense of humour is your own, but be sure to be sensitive to the people around you and not be a sadistic bully who takes pleasure in the suffering of others.

This is a story I worked on ages ago that has been refined and edited by adding foreshadowing to events while also simplifying the power system better than before. This story can be considered a prequel to An Adventure Beyond Greatness as it takes place years prior to the events of that story.

Short Synopsis:
After retiring from the battlefield, my life became empty and lifeless. The regrets of my past haunt me in my sleep. Then a change occurred, a King from another world summoned me to fight for his kingdom, but I died even before I could give him my answer. Now, after a fake God allowed me to reincarnate (albeit imperfectly) with my memories intact, into a world filled with magic and swords.

Long Synopsis:
This is about a flawed protagonist who only knew to rely on others and not socialise who gets a second chance to change himself in order to live the life he aimed for in his past life. The narrator isn’t exactly trustworthy since it is purely in his bias perspective while other perspectives given by others fill in the blanks that he either leaves out or twists to suit the situation.

The story itself can be considered a parody of Isekai’s classic tropes which are given a sense of reality as time goes by. As there exists no ‘Demon Lord’, there is also no black and white, only characters opinions and counter-opinions throughout the story.

I stared at the window looking far away to the vast lands, thinking what a view this is. Me standing here looking out of the castle window is far from my imagination, even further from my imagination was the king who was half awake on the bed with his handsome face still looking all blur, blue eyes half open and his golden brown hair all ruffled. How many years has it been, I was thinking. And as his sight met mine, I smiled at him sweetly thinking wow how long ago was that when I was all enthusiastic in snatching him and making him mine. He climbed down the bed and went behind me holding me tight in his arms, putting his head on my shoulders and asked lazily, "my queen, why are you awake so early today?" Memories of last time all flooded in when I entered this room. He was a prince and I was a commoner, we wouldn't have crossed path if it wasn't for his uncle which was hungry for fame, wealth and power sneaked me in as a maid for the sole purpose of assassinating the prince so that his son could ascend the throne. I was just a small child but because of that, it became my greatest weapon. Always on guard and when the time comes I will strike. I never did hesitate because I knew it was the only thing I could do for this old man who saved my life from slavery; giving me food and shelter. I did come into contact with the prince, but every time he would look at me and smile just like a small child. Although we were the same age, everything seemed so blissful in his life which I never had in mine. I was angry at my life and vengeful at the world aside the old man, which left a young girl such as myself vending and defending the realism of life at that time: poverty and harshness. Every time I could slice the small dagger with me to his throat, he gave me bread he had for breakfast, slices of meat he had for lunch and dinner when he knew nothing about what I've been through, reprimanded for what I didn't do and punished for what I didn't say while I was still a young maid in service. Thinking that I could get even better than this if the old man did gain the throne but this small gesture of kindness without expecting anything in return melt the ice surrounding my heart little by little and making them warm again. Days passed and years passed, this little meeting we had became precious to me, the small dagger I had was still with me, he continued giving me the bits of food he had, we met up for some chit chat; I can see and so can he the deep smile I had from long ago had disappeared replaced with an earnest one shown only to him. However, as time passed, the old man too grew impatient and hurried me with my real intention into entering this palace, I decided to do it because I owed him my life. That fateful day when the both of us met at the same time like always, I took out my dagger and he stared at me, it's not that he's shocked but me, he smiled at me ever so kindly like always and hold my hand to his chest, wide open and one slash he's dead mission accomplished, but I couldn't do it. That smile which had really saved me, the old man save my body but he saved my soul, ever wandering and aimless following whoever I deemed as my master. I couldn't do it, but the old man knowing that I can't sent someone to spy on me, in the blink of an eye a swift arrow, passed by, sliced my face and left a scar till today but no the pain on my cheek meant nothing compared to the redness of blood on my hand. I cried and cried what can I do? I learned how to kill but not save. But amidst that, I heard his breath, all I could think of is that I could save him. If he were to die, then I will die at least by protecting his body. No that is just stupid, what can I do to make sound let all the other hear me, what can I do so that people know that he is here with me. By hitting the horse with my little dagger which I threw with all my might, hoping that I did aimed right, I'm not all powerful what did you expect me to do? As so, it did attract enough attention sufficient for him to get medical aid which could at least save him. I got thrown behind bars and I did not regret as he was save, I did not do it for the country, I did not do it for anyone but my own satisfaction, knowing that I at least did one thing right in my life. Planning to not waste any resources at least, I can end my life in peace. But as you guessed, I got released and he was made king, we got married and I'm the queen. Looking at the windows at the country you tried hard protecting, "Friedreich, how are you doing now?" A drop of tear flowed down. When is my turn to go so that I could see you? "Grandma, you're here again? Let's play together?" Those words resounded behind me, by the door. Maybe it's still not the right time to leave this place yet huh, Friedreich? "Alright, Grandma's coming".

In the past hundreds of year, Prinz has gotten immersed into the Virtual Dimension by himself. While in isolation, he refuses to get in contact with all his colleagues. And unlike how all his colleagues have done, he temporarily transferred his consciousness into the system whilst Prinz's body stayed inside a capsule to prolong his life. Prinz has one purpose, and for that, he depends on his ability alone.

Unlike all 44 of Prinz's colleagues whose purpose are to conduct the policies, actions, and affairs of the Virtual Dimension by an authority in their respective expertise, his sole purpose is to enhance the system and its environment. Prinz advocates against perfections and therefore he persists to ceaselessly improving the system. Time after time, he will create a solution for some inadequacies that he found in the Virtual Dimension. But because he could not immediately perform the upgrade, he has to wait.

With the intention of improvements, Prinz needs first-hand information for analysis to facilitate the solution. For this reason, he relocates into the Virtual Dimension as a participator and thus he set himself; side by side with the other humans living in the system.

Prinz is different from everyone else; who discarded their own body for eternal life.

He never has truly relocated into the Virtual Dimension; from the time of its completion until now he does not. Prinz is afraid of losing a part of him. He believes that humanity exists because of their inherent unique consciousness, and the physical that he or she is born with is a shell that provides them sentience. 

Humanity is a selected primate that lives on Earth as its protector and craftsman; therefore for aeons, humans always triumph against other species in survival. The physical fleshes we are born with are very adaptable; for that all generations the human genomes vary for the surviving kin.

The brain contains human intelligence and the body regulates its system to sustain it. Without the body and the brain; functioning side-by-side; humanity would never be able to obtain new knowledge. Prinz however, is alone in his belief.

Virtual Dimension is created as such every human consciousness could multitask with ease. Imagine a human who could work and play while asleep. It is exactly this way; how the system controls and enhances the brain functions. It is unfortunately impossible to get something for nothing. While the system seems pleasantly unreal, Virtual Dimension has all the controls over hierarchy and social developments of every human. These controls facilitate the system of checks and balances in a manner that disables all human exclusive controls.

In a laymen term, the world-systems in the Virtual Dimension divide human consciousness into a core and periphery existences. A core existence focuses on the higher acquisition of knowledge from concluding researches and has all the power to exercise their rights as the one who leads and commands; while the periphery existences focus on the acquisition of information with lesser-to-none power. All periphery existences enforce the dominance of core existence by carrying out their respective roles as a whole.

Prinz and his 44 colleagues are the only core existences that exclusively control the Virtual Dimension while actively engaging in their tasks – to explore the tangible unknown in the vast universe and to maintain the universal order in the system while simultaneously scrutinizing the human consciousness developments. After all, the world is still shrouded with various infinite mysteries. At the same time, humanity must be systematized and to be predisposed of; during which they will always be in relating to one other according to the social organizations in the system.

This is how the current Virtual Dimension becomes a complex hierarchical structure. As more research findings, technological breakthroughs and social developments are being integrated into the system, the complexity will always exponentially rise.

In the room, where Prinz and all his colleagues gathered.

"Hey, Prinz! Prinz, are you listening?"

Diana's voice is quick to alert him who is deep in thought.

"Sorry, Diana and everyone. I was lost in thought for a moment." Prinz apologized.

"Hmmph..." Diana pouts as she holds her robot arms together against her chest; although, her eyes focus on the cube.

"What is that cube, Prinz?" Diana asked in curious.  

"This cube is my latest invention. I store another auxiliary system that now has been progressively integrated into the Virtual Dimension. Actually, I want to show everyone this system. No, I wish to share everything that I have been working on in the past few decades and invite everyone to join me."

"Another auxiliary system? Join you?"

"Yes, Diana. Let me explain to everyone."

Prinz spins the cube a few times on the table. A little while later the cube glows. He then immediately grabs the cube with his right arm. Shortly after, a projected image displays a whole lot of information. The image turns into holograms that rises above and vivid showing the auxiliary system timeline and progression.  

"Everyone, this is 'Tree of Life'. A system that is based on imitation of human's natural senses and inner emotions. It is included in the 'In-Depth Reality RPG' that has always been part of the Virtual Dimension. The 'Tree of Life' has grown into a platform where everyone can experience a corporeal-like life; while alternatively, they could participate in an entertainment-like life through an avatar." Prinz explained in an excitement.

He stops his sentence to breathe before he continues:

"The avatar simulates the five human senses and various human emotions; as if one is being alive inside a physical body. Up to a certain degree, the 'Tree of Life' capable to recreate a sense of realism. However, the system itself is still far from completion."

He looks down feeling less enthusiastic.

Prinz always knows that it is not easy to entirely reconstruct the five human senses and various emotions in the Virtual Dimension. Despite that, Prinz persisted; each time he confronts with failures because he wants humanity to regain their natural disposition - one that they had once discarded and lost.

But, for what reason does he went all the way to create the 'Tree of Life' system in secrecy?

Prinz is aware that humanity has begun to search for something to yearn for, that is akin to the feeling of possession and needs; even more than just to stay living in perpetuity. At the same time their instincts have yearned for physical touch and turmoil of emotions – just like how they are once alive. However, it is impossible to wholly incorporate the 'Tree of Life' system into the Virtual Dimension. There are two reasons why.

First, the system is not perfect. Second, the complexity of the Virtual Dimension makes it impossible to completely integrate the 'Tree of Life' system. The entire Virtual Dimension is exclusively created to preserve all humanity consciousness at all times.

Facing with difficulty, he now seeks his colleagues for cooperation.

Prinz requires supports and a boost to complete the system; with the intention to escalate the 'Tree of Life' system development and to recreate an entirely new experience inside the Virtual Dimension. To start with, he first needs to convince the 44 others who were proficient in various expertise; with an aim to obtain their assistance in every aspect.

"Prinz, have you completely thought everything about this system?" Phil questioned him in retrospective.

"I do and the 'Tree of Life' design is for the purpose to present humanity with something that they have once lost together with their body. I wish for humanity to remember their origin. Despite that, I hope the system will not be assimilated into Virtual Dimension; instead, it will always remain as an auxiliary system."

"I see your point and I understand now," Phil replied.

Prinz then continues his presentation. He pointed to a subfolder and reveals its contents.

"Everyone, please look at these pictures."

He displays a collection of images and his findings. There were many picturesque images of various backgrounds and nature scenery; though, the most obvious thing that they see is the natural dispositions and expressions shown by several human avatars in the images. Some of the avatars are rejoicing as if they have won something big, while others are shedding tears of incessant joy.

"These images came from one of many In-Depth Reality RPG games called 'Rebirth on a New Earth'. The game has been included with the Tree of Life system. Just like how the name implies, this game allows human consciousness inside Virtual Dimension to rebirth into a new Earth; in an avatar to explore the various unknowns of new Earth. It's called 'New Earth' because the world has a completely different history and topography. Moreover...."

"Hahaha!"

"Hehehe…."

"Wahahahahahahahaha!"

"Huhu.."

Amid Prinz's explanation, every single one of his colleagues suddenly burst into laughter. If there is no tomorrow, they laugh constantly for a certain period before they finally stop. The room that is once focused only on Prinz's voice began to fill with unbroken hilarity.

Prinz is confused at this moment. His mouth is wide open in astonishment watching all his colleagues.

"What? How and why did you guys laugh?" Prinz hastily raises his doubts.

"Puhahaha, Prinz. Your face is really unbecoming right now. Diana, do you take the picture?"

"Worry not Mat, I did. Hihi, it's still hilarious when I look at this picture."

"Hehe, I would never think that Prinz; who is notorious for his wisdom would be outwitted by us." Loci alleges indifferently.

"Chris, would you take the honour; to enlightening our hardworking leader?"

"Hahaha, I will do it. Hahaha."

Chris is the next person who later joins Prinz on as one of his research colleagues. He is also Mat's best buddy as the two of them are friends since childhood. Chris had a strong skill in IT, especially in security and networking. Needless to say, his programming skill is top-notch. Regardless of any programming languages, Chris has mastered them all - even before he completely relocates into the Virtual Dimension. He is also known for his 'sly hands'. Conversely, Chris regrets that his hands could not keep up with his mind. One momentous day, he voluntarily decides to relocate into Virtual Dimension.

 "What is going on? Why is everyone laughing? No, wait. How can you all laugh?"

Prinz greatly bewilders at the moment. He doubts about everything that comes across his mind. He has his suspicions, but could not comprehend them.    

"I'll do the honour for everyone." Chris quickly replies.

He then opens his two arms in warm.

"Prinz, you definitely have seen that we can all laugh. Yes, we do laugh. It is because we have already known about the 'Tree of Life' system; since a few decades ago if you are curious when we found out. Also, we are actually inside the 'Rebirth on New Earth' game too. Hahaha, our avatars are famous you know. We are called the 'Sovereigns of All Life', plus our empire is actually your adversary. Hahaha."

"What? How does everyone know about the system? 'Tree of Life' is definite a separated entity from Virtual Dimension. It is an auxiliary system like I told before. I made sure of it. Moreover, why everyone is playing 'Rebirth of New Earth' too?"

Chris takes this opportunity to answer Prinz's questions. He replies:

"Well, of course, everyone would know. As the core existence in Virtual Dimension, we are very sensitive and vigilant towards any variation that occurs to the system. When one day there was a sudden spike of energy usage followed by a boost of consciousness productivity in the system, I got first notified by these changes and because I have nothing urgent at hand I began to investigate. By chance, I found out the system variation inside the In-Depth Reality RPG. Then I directly let everyone know before we decided to further probe into it. And finally, we found the variation instigated by the 'Tree of Life' system. It would be quicker to brute force into the system, but Diana had a concern with the after-effects and she refused to go along with the method. Thus, I had to find another way. In the end, I hacked the system and without leaving any trace behind. I bet you are curious about how I did it. It was difficult you know spending about a decade just to..."

"Chris, get to the point!" Diana shouts loudly as she glares sharply toward Chris.

"Ah, I apologize for going off track. Let me cut it short. In summary, I hacked into the 'Tree of Life' and figured the system belongs to you. I revealed my findings to everyone and we decided to deliver you a 'punishment'. The reason is that because you never let us in whatever you are trying to do; besides for never trying to contact us at all. Everyone also helps to expand and assemble the system with their own resources and expertise. Oh, for your information, 'Rebirth of New Earth' is just something in everyone's interest to play. Who would have known that the simulation of human senses and emotions are integrated into the game? I have my suspicion and so did everyone at the time. Diana especially, she made an inference that you would be part of the game in order to involve yourself in close to the research; like you always do. The game is really awesome! At first, we do not know your avatar. What it looks like, what you are doing. After years of searching, we eventually found you. But then, we are already further in the game to casually say hi to you. No wait, Diana said not to contact you. At the end under Diana's ruling, everyone assembled to be an adversary of your guild. The end!"

Prinz listens to Chris from the beginning until the end with his jaw wide open and his eyes bulge in doubt.

For hundreds of year, humanity was unable to decipher the secret inside the brain. Until more than 800 years ago, Prinz Heilig and his close colleagues discovered the secret and began to change the way humans perceive the world. Together, they created a Virtual Dimension for humanity and became the exclusive core existences that control it.

However, everything changed one day. During the system upgrade, the world evolved and Prinz was taken into another space. He had been given a chance to revive.

Believing that he was still alive Prinz thought that it was ludicrous to simply accept a revival.
