A new chapter in a man's new world! The books I've loved are now my lifeline!

Dr. Mabi sat in his study reviewing some papers. He was getting ready for a lecture at the Sippar Imperial Military Academy. Although his specialty was Elf physiology, Dr. Mabi was renowned and respected in the medical fields in general. 

He would often lecture at academies and universities throughout the Empire. His lecture at this time would be on the subject of common sense medical practices on the planet Thurbor. Thurbor, a planet which served as a military post for the Sippar Empire. Every planet had its ecology and with each planet, newly posted military personnel needed to know who to protect themselves.  

There were always issues with plants and animals and how to interact with them, eat them, and be aware of them, but this wasn't the Dr.'s area. The Dr. was teaching about what to do when getting injured on the planet. There were always training accidents and sometimes there were fights with native inhabitants and enemies. 

The planet was a strategic point in the territories between the first and fourth quadrants of the galaxy. It was always hotly contested and this meant there was never much of a presence on the planet. This changed about ten years ago when the Sippar Empire was able to push the line of demarcation further into the territory of its nemesis the Barkkdian Empire.

Posts and bases were being built all over the planet. Even small towns where military families were able to live began to spring up. Every post needed a place for the soldiers to spend their time and money and shops and entertainment locations were being planned. Unfortunately, the environment was proving to be less than hospitable for the forces on site.

Dr. Mabi was quietly preparing his materials and deciding what he would take with him as he started packing for the trip. He always liked to pack his papers and books first. 

"Boval, come in here," Dr. Mabi yelled. 

After a few moments, Boval walked into the study. He was fifteen-years-old and lived with Dr. Mabi for ten years already! What started as a Dr. patient situation soon became a Mentor disciple situation. During Boval's time with Dr. Mabi, he discovered Boval was gifted in medicine. Gifted was understating his capabilities. From Dr. Mabi's, standpoint, Boval was an unparalleled genius.  

Boval understood nothing was amazing about his level of knowledge and talent regarding medicine. He spent the last few hundred years practicing medicine in Big Ole Wall Town. According to the three-five paths (chapter 69), he was a Master Tradesman. He mastered all the trades including medicine, music, formations, forging, and pills. 

He mastered every field but he was strongest in the formations trade. However, he loved medicine. Of course, the philosophy of the three-five paths is all paths support and develope together to push the adherent of the path to overall greater mastery. They were better overall in one trade because of their mastery of the other paths. 

The three-five paths referred to the Paths of Trade, Knowledge, and the Soul. Each Path had five sub-paths. It was thanks to his mastery of Master River's teachings regarding the three-five paths he had so much accumulated knowledge and wisdom to draw upon now. Therefore, his aptitude wasn't so amazing. It took him thousands of years to acquire his knowledge. Even though he was in a new world, he was equipped to excel in anything he chose. 

Even though he already knew as much as he didn't this didn't mean he already knew everything. His time with Dr. Mabi was extremely beneficial to Boval. The Dr. was as creative a thinker as he was a careful researcher. Boval learned a great deal and was inspired to increase his studies. Of course, Lorne was becoming weary of the life of an academician. He didn't reincarnate into this world just to sit around and read books and give papers. He wanted a life of adventure. 

This trip to the Sippar Imperial Military Academy was a big move. It was his first step in pursuing a life of adventure. He was able to convince Dr. Mabi to help him get into the Academy. Although he would be studying medicine, or teaching it, his main focus for training would be as a starfighter pilot. 

Boval missed the feeling of flying through the skies and among the stars. It was something he was forced to give up when he moved to this new world. In reality, he gave up all of his tremendous powers becoming a mortal. This sacrifice was worth it for Boval. He felt living like a mortal would give the rush of adventure he was looking for. It's hard to feel the thrill of adventure when ninety percent of the things in the universe can't hurt you. Now, everything was dangerous!

His parents and Dr. Mabi thought he was crazy. They all knew he was set to have a safe and prosperous life as an academician. Instead, he was hell-bent on playing with his life. He was able to argue the merits of becoming a fighter pilot. It would give him skills he could use later in his life as a researcher he didn't have now. For example, he could pilot his ship to wherever he wanted to go and he could defend himself as needed. 

Dr. Mabi had friends in the military but ultimately, if he ever found himself alone in a dangerous situation he would more than likely get squished before he even knew what happened. They finally came around to his point of view, it was just the military academy after all. Once he finished there, he could start his real work. Of course, Boval failed to mention he planned on joining the Imperial Army right after graduation. He thought he would leave that surprise for later!

"Boval, have you seen my Binonical Expression in Free Gene Interplay book? I've looked everywhere for it," Dr. Mabi said. 

"I have seen it, sir," he said.

"Really? where," Dr. Mabi asked. 

"Isn't it next to your bookbag over there?" asked Boval. 

Dr. Mabi turned around to a small lounge chair where he placed one of his book bags. Immediately, he saw the book in question. 

"Oh my, is it old age or excitement that's making me so absent-minded?" Dr. Mabi joked.

"It's exciting, you're far too young to go senile," Boval laughed back. 

"Such a smooth-talker, I guess that's how you talked me into signing off on this assinine idea of joining the military academy," he said. 

Boval just smiled quietly, he knew better than to engage in this topic with his teacher. 

"Fine, fine, whatever. I guess it's time to head out!" Dr. Mabi said with gusto. 

Boval grabbed all of the bags the professor packed and was about to carry them out when he noticed something amusing.

"Dr. Mabi, I'm going to have to change my prognosis of your condition from excitement to senility," Boval laughed.

"What do you mean?" Dr. Mabi was confused.

"I mean, you did a very thorough job packing your books for the trip but I don't even see a bag for your underwear and pajamas. Are you going to wear those clothes for the duration of the trip?" Boval laughed. 

Dr. Mabi looked around and realized he forgot to pack everything other than his books and papers.  

"Torp," he said.

It has been about 3 months after the Venir has left, for those 3 months Varsas has been working on a book. While doing that, he wonders how Vaine and Viola are faring, but it is no used thinking about that anymore. That incident with the army instructor is about to happen, without Varsas there Vaine would probably has a hard time, but in the end, he is still the prince of Mahaima, their prince.

Currently he is waiting for a servant to deliver new materials for his book. Though the servant in this case is Lufa, the girl from Lan Sphere.

She just refused to leave, and to keep up appearance she has actually been doing some servant work in the mean time. When he ordered her to deliver some books, the expression on her face was hilarious. At the same time, she was curious.

The door opens and a trolley of books come in, it is funny how the pusher of the trolley are too small to be seen, the little girl name Lufa was narrowing her eyes at him when she appears.

"What are you doing with all of this books. Are you just toying with me so that I would leave? Well it is not THAT easy." The little girl says, breathing heavily.

"Well since I'm going to be idle, I figure I might as well write a book, these are my materials." At that moment Varsas calmly stated.

Lufa seems intrigue initially, it is a book written by a legendary hero... well not yet legendary hero, but he is from the future, and as someone who wanted new experience, she wants to read a book like that, it may provide new insight into the person name Varsas Gungnir.

For a moment Varsas looks every part of a 27 years old veteran with nostalgic look in his eyes.

"...I figure that even though it did not happen, I want to record my adventure and the achievement of my comrade. The man is pointing at the trolley while accusing Lufa. He is angry, but it seems he is more panic than angry. Varsas decides that it is probably good to intervene.

"What do you think you are doing in my room?"

The frazzle man seemingly realizes where he was and apologize.

"I apologize but this girl has brought back something she shouldn't have. This may become a big issue if the news was to spread."

"I told her to bought them. What is the problem?"

The man blanches for moment, but he keeps speaking.

"Did you know that bookshop's owner has just been lynched because of the selling of a banned book?" The butler says in a hushed tone, afraid of letting other servants hear.

"Lynching? Banned book?"

Varsas Gungnir was known as the hero who ended the war, but then he died, bleeding out on the street. He woke up again, 10 years in the past. He has decided to do... nothing

7 Months Later

Being a baby is awesome and frustrating at the same time. Awesome because you basically have a group of adults to wait upon you. You need food? You cry and 'Walla Walla Washington', food appears magically and stuffed in your mouth. You don't even have to lift the spoon. You feel like peeing? Or pooping? You cry and 'Hocus Pocus - Sister awokus' Even if it's the middle of the night, you have people helping you pee and poop. 
Some people would say I'm a disgusting, sickening and loathsome guy with not an ounce of self respect. Guess you're right, but I would take those insults anytime, anywhere because being waited hand and foot is definitely worth it.
Now the frustrating part is that I can;t understand shit about what's going on here. Nobody speaks English and let me tell you it's easier to pick up a language and gain fluency from a blank slate than knowing a language beforehand and trying to learn a new language. It's easier for the former because you think and speak in that very language from the get go. All your thoughts and imaginations are in that language. 
While for the latter, You first think in your original tongue, translate it and then speak in the new language. All your thought and imaginations are in your original language instinctively, which leads to less practice than the former. The only thing that is going for me is that I obviously have higher intellect than other babies as well as the amount of practice I am doing consciously. I am now good enough at speaking the local language that I can at least ask for things in two word sentences. And the lack of knowledge of the local language leads to the sheer lack of information.

I know the country I am in. I know the organization that is trying to indoctrinate me is the church of this world. Now you may say that I'm being prejudiced against them without any proof but you must understand that 90% of the churches in isekai novels are always corrupt and secret evil. 
Of course Sister Violetta can never be evil, she was probably deceived into joining the church or maybe forced to get involved. But rest assured people! When I grow up I am definitely saving her and taking her away from this place. 

And who says that I don't have proof?  You see abnormal things have been happening to me. The first thing is that I am just a teeny tiny bit too strong for a baby. I weigh about 10 kilograms. How do I know it? While on our bi-monthly outing of the orphanage to the doctor to get medical checkup and shots I secretly wiggled out of the room to explore the surrounding cause I only get to go out about once every two months and that is definitely not enough to quell my adventurous spirit. As a proud delivery truck driver that has driven on the roads of 42 states and 5 countries, staying cooped up in the same building for an year may as well be called torture. 
So here I am just outside the room and what do I see? A weighing machine! Right now anything that is new to my eyes is good enough for me to be excited about, even if it's just a weighing machine. And I did what any curious baby would do. I crawled towards it as fast as I could and got on top of it. And Viola! I weigh a solid eleven kilograms. But I didn't know whether it was normal, underweight or overweight. 
Why can't these guys paste a baby weight chart on the walls. Is that too much to do? Are they looking down on us babies? Are we not important enough? But unfortunately while I was monologuing, a Nurse spotted and swooped me away from the glorious self discovery adventure I was having. Curse you evil minions of the hospitals! And with that I was put down on the sofa among the other children which resolutely ended my adventure in the hospital.
Now  you must be thinking "Hey what relation does this pointless story have with the weird things happening around you?" Now just be calm and see how the fates have woven this thread of coincidences around me.
So you see, the church has a separate room with books about religion and other subjects. I regularly 'infiltrate' that room to gain information on the organization. Who am I kidding? I just wanted to read some picture books cause I was fucking bored. So one day while I was advancing on my stealth mission I miraculously found some books in English lying on the lowest shelf in the book room. I was so happy that I nearly cried again, which would have failed the mission right there, But I controlled myself like all excellent agents do and did not let my emotions hinder me in the way of my duty.
 I took out those books and started to read them and advance my knowledge about the organization. Apparently they were stories about how saints of this religious order were tortured some eighteen hundred years ago. Some of them had their teeth violently pulled or shattered in their mouth. Some of them roasted on grills. Some of them skinned alive, Devoured by beasts, sunk in the ocean etc etc. 

Can someone please tell me what the hell is this book? And why was it in lowest shelf where children can easily pick it up and read it? And why on earth is all the text followed by graphic pictures showcasing these people undergoing torture? Is this some kind of ploy to permanently damage the kids? 
Or maybe I finally found the reason behind this organization's objective! They want revenge for them and want to destroy the world! Or maybe rule the world with their organization as the supremo of this world and kill or enslave the rest. Hmmm, this would need some more careful investigation in their origins and history. I picked up the other books in English and started reading them. they were mostly anecdotes of the previous members of their society. the last one was just a phone directory in English. But just as I was open it I heard footsteps coming towards this direction. I grew flustered and quickly tried to put the book back in the shelf. 
Nothing abnormal right? I wish I could say the same. 
I picked up those books and ran towards the lower shelf, and that's when I realized what was wrong. I was holding a stack of books weighing about two kilograms and running with it. My mind was screaming to put them down right there cause it was very abnormal, but my body said 'cool down mate, It's easy peasy'. And followed my body cause it sounded much more friendly and ran towards a cupboard to hide behind it. Just then I heard the footsteps entering the room.
"Periklis!"
I heard sister Violetta shouting my name. But no matter how sweet she is, I stopped myself from responding reflexively and giving out my hiding place. I couldn't let them know that I had already gained some fundamental knowledge about them and had started plotting against them.
After hearing those disappearing footsteps, I came out and ran towards my room. After all I had a lot to think about. I probably have above average or extraordinary strength. It's a bit too soon to call it super powered as I have yet to punch a hole through the wall. Now the question is how did I gain it? Is the organization conducting secret experiments in us? Have I been drinking diluted super soldier serum in the form of milk? Or they have been bombarding me with Vita rays when I'm sleeping? But I haven't seen the rest of the kids doing anything beyond ordinary.
 Or were my original parents some super powered people and their one for all powers passed on to me? Maybe I'm a mutant? Or maybe this is a reincarnation bonus by some lazy god who thought it was too much trouble to meet me? So many questions and yet no one to answer. But the most important question among all of them is how to proceed with this information and what measures to take? 
I would be bluffing myself if I said that I would just live normally and peacefully from now on. I have read enough web-novels, fan-fictions and stories to know the most important principle is that 'Supernatural attracts Supernatural'. To say anything else would be a lie. Now the question is what type of role is my destiny plunging me into?

A regular human dies and is reborn in another world. Common? The world has Legendary swords, Heroes, Angels, Devils and Gods? Still common? He knows the future of the world too! It's still not uncommon? he is probably going to be super-powerful. if it's still a common story then I can't help it. an Si who is not an edgelord. Harem? Who knows?

Now the cave seems like a miniature forest filled with numerous kinds of life


The unintelligent animals and low level monsters were used as hunting materials for the members of the organization


Shadowslash was quite satisfied of how much the cave have grown just as he was calmly watching the fishes and other animals living with each other Yshelia started speaking


"You know Shadowslash-san I have been thinking and realise that the Intelligent Monster Alliance is now an inappropriate name for the organization since now that the organization do not only consist of monsters but also those from other races"

"And it is also not an alliance but an organization under you so I think we should change its name"


Shadowslash also agreed thinking about this he told Yshelia "Okay why don't I gather everyone or at least their representative and lets have a meeting about this"


Shadowslash then contacted everyone he even contacted Sans but he received his reply that he was too busy


Since finding out Shadowslash owns the land Sans increased his effort in absorbing the remnant Death Qi that was left in the battlefield


Once nearly everyone was gathered Shadowslash finally starts the meeting


"Okay I have gathered you all here to discuss on the new name of our organization and also officially give a name to the cave"


After everyone heard this they then started to whisper on the person besides them discussing to each other


Lily raised her hand and after seeing him nod she starts to tell her idea "What about calling the organization Shadowslash-sama Organisation and the cave Shadowslash-sama Paradise"


Shadowslash hurriedly shook his head and denies the idea even though mostly everyone accepted the idea


The others also started to share their idea one after another until the next day


After a whole day of discussion everyone finally agreed on a name well except for Shadowslash that is

After everyone dispersed Shadowslash started to continue training

The girls upon seeing this also trained themselves


Russel was not worried at all since Shadowslash told him he will be responsible for carrying them throughout the adventure


A month have passed and finally Shadowslash body managed to adapt to his current level


The others have also trained their spiritual strength to a degree


Because of Sans and the others hard work some of the forest started rebuilding themselves


There were also three more villages in Hundred Race Land


One of the villages were created to house goblins, the other was for gnomes and the final one was for the humans


As Shadowslash slowly create his own kingdom the rest of the rulers of the land was getting interested on his land since Shadowslash managed to improved the quality of the land and make it more beautiful but none of them dared to take any advances towards the land


Numerous elves would travel across the land planting and taking care of the plants


The Air Force Division would daily fly around the land scattering seteds and scouting for lost people to bring into Hope Town


There was also the rumored black knight who would always travel the land in solo


Numerous spies were disposed off by him causing numerous dreadful rumors about him


Of course the rumored black knight is Sans who was nearing completion to his assignment


Shadowslash finally decided to start his adventure once Sans returned back


Hentai was now finishing Shadowslash transformation


Shadowslash also bought numerous books from Helia his payment was of course meats and fruits which was considered precious at this time since there is a food crisis going on


The books he order was human language, myths and legends, Currency book, Monsterology books and finally books about different kinds of plants


He also bought simple or basic book for numerous kinds of human warrior classes


Knights, Warriors, Assassin, Beasmaster, Tamer, Mages and Archers he did not manage to get a book for training healers abd summoners since it was super  rare even the Mage book was already extremely rare he only manage to obtain it because his friendship with Helia


Of course he did not forgot to buy their appropriate books for their classes


Basic Archery book, Basic Swordsmanship book, Basic Spear Wielding book, Basic Saber Wielding book, Basic Shield Handling book, Basic Mana Gathering book, Basic Dagger Handling book, Basic Scout Practices book, Basic Taming boo, Basic Blood Fusion book


He also bought Basic Horsemanship book just in case


Archers are jobs that focus on handling a bow and high rank archers do not even need arrows but create their own arrows using their Mana and Energy


Knights are those that wear heavy armor and wields shield


Warriors are extremist who only wields their weapon and wears armor that do not restrict their movement because they are like the attacker of the human classes


Assassins have numerous kinds of jobs such as scout, spy and of course as killers so they must be extremely nimble and cautious


Mages are the literal cannons of the human classes since everyone had their own element to be compatible with there are numerous different kinds of Mages


Tamers could be easily understand easily since its job was to tame monsters to fight for them


Blood Fusion book is for Beastmaster unlike Tamer Beastmaster use the blood of monsters to strengthen their body and possibly obtain the monster's bloodline the only downside is that there is a high risk of going berserk


Also basic books for jobs such as Basic Blacksmith book, Basic Tinker book, Basic Apothecary book, Basic Tailor Book, Basic Livestock Raising book and etc.


Once Shadowslash obtain the books he first had Hentai records them before distributing it to Hope Town increasing the strength and quality of the people living in his land


He also release numerous kinds of rewards for those who became proper human warriors


Those who have high talent for Mages class Shadowslash will gift them access on teleportation to the cave


Those that are young and have talent on any classes could train inside the cave for a week every month


Also those that could become proper blacksmith, tailor or etc now have a chance on living in the cave as long as they obtained enough contribution to Hundred Race Land


Even though this was disadvantageous to the humans but there is no such thing as equal in the world


Once this information was released numerous people became excited and all of them start to train themselves on the classes they wanted or was already good at


Shadowslash also had JM bring the gems ores he found underground


When Shadowslash saw the amount of golds, silvers, bronze and gems that JM obtain he was momentarily dumbfounded


The amount of gems could fill a cart, the amount of gold could fill a vault in a bank, the amount of bronze could 3 vaults but the most abundant was the Silver there were also a small amount of Mithril Gold that could fill a cart


It could fill a house maybe because JM was interested in eating Silver that's why he managed to obtain a large amount of it


Since they were still unprocessed they still could not be used as currency but Shadowslash was not worried since Hentai was the one processing them into coins


Blaze would first melt them before Shadowslash absorbs it into his Mind Space or Spiritual Space and leave it to Hentai


Shadowslash also have Hentai combine some of the gold and silver and fill them with Metal Element before giving them to JM as rewards


With this reward JM could strengthen himself rapidly and could become much more sensitive towards Metals and Metal Element


With the huge amount of money Shadowslash become much more confident on his adventure


One Gold Coin is equal to 100 Silver Coin and One Silver Coin is equal to 100 Copper Coin


Shadowslash did.not change the value of currency on his land but he did change the design of the coins and also added another form of currency the Mithril Coin


Since Hentai could create a small ore vein using some of the ores JM brought and converting them into pure elemental energy Shadowslash could have unlimited supplies of coins inside the cave

As he expected, after Donnie returned to his dormitory, he found Sammy snoring on the bed. The ghost on his back was also rather lazy and unenergetic since it was noon.

He modified, commanded, and adjusted the ghosts prudently until he felt that it was perfect before asking the necromancer to review his works. As a result, by the time he left the cemetery, Karl was long gone, which slightly upset him. Although Karl was a man, it was always a pleasant experience to see him.
"Donnie, how is your work?" The moment Donnie returned to the Mills Noble School from the cemetery, he heard Sammy calling him. The evening of a gloomy day was particularly dim, so Sammy was in high spirits. His ghost no longer hid in the shadows anymore. It was waving its fuzzy arms and creaking.
Donnie smiled. "I'm 90% confident."
He was talking about his confidence to be admitted by the Heidler Magic College.
Sammy rubbed his messy hair and chuckled. "I am 100%. Right, Donnie, now that the exam is over, our dormitory will be reclaimed. I will return to Wolfburg. What about you? Are you going home or staying in Rentato for now to wait for the final result?"
He was a native of Wolfburg, a southern city.
Hearing Sammy's words, Donnie immediately thought of his parents and his sister. He couldn't have missed them more, but he quickly shook his head and pointed at his neck where there were no accessories with a bitter smile. "I have to work in Rentato for two months to pay for the Lucidity Necklace that I borrowed."
He signed a contract with the bookstore owner.
"Is that so?" Sammy asked in surprise. He had obviously forgotten what Donnie told him earlier. However, he quickly dropped it and went on, "I'm here to tell you that you can apply for a dormitory, as long as you move out before September so that the new apprentices can move in."
"Really?" Donnie had been wondering where he could find a cheap residence. He was both surprised and delighted, and his sorrow was gone.
"So, you've saved a great amount of money. You have to buy me dinner!" Sammy said jokingly.
He did not feel that sad that they were graduating and departing from each other because he believed that he would see Donnie again in the Heidler Magic College.

The next morning, Donnie went to the office of his school to apply for a dormitory. After he listed his poor conditions and his excellent study performance, the sympathetic elf teacher quickly granted his request. Then, without any rest, he went to the Triumph Square and entered the Knowledge Bookstore.
Dollos, the owner of the bookstore who had owl eyes, glanced at Donnie. "I thought you were going to break the contract." 
"I was delayed by something in school. Here is your Lucidity Necklace." Donnie handed the Lucidity Necklace back to the boss. Without the Lucidity Necklace, his review and consolidation in the last three months couldn't have been so effective.
Dollos nodded. "You will wipe all the bookshelves and spines today."
After that, he hurried to greet a new guest who just came in.
Donnie was not a spoiled child. He found a piece of cloth in a corner and began to work.
As he wiped, he read the titles of the books. Reading was his greatest hobby.

Donnie had the same feelings when he saw the tests on his own bookshelf in his dormitory. Had it not been for the fact that he could earn a lot by selling those books as well as his solutions, he would've set them on fire.
"Why is the nightmare still haunting me here?"
Thankfully, the Knowledge Bookstore only had one row that was about tests, or Donnie suspected that he would go crazy.
It was already noon after he cleaned half of the bookshelves. Dollos turned on the home TV embedded on the wall and watched "Noon of the Empire", a news program.
"Considering the two cases of sudden death when the sorcerer was playing virtual adventure games, Master Karu, most famous for his fraternity, has filed an application to the Affair Committee and the Magic Research Board, asking them to abort the funding for the project of 'Virtual Magic Exercise'. He believes that the project has serious safety problems and that the combination of artificial intelligence, alchemical life, and illusion will definitely go wrong. The project should not be activated until the arcanists behind the project propose practical precautions."
The anchor was a black-haired and blue-eyed Holmish lady, pretty with a pleasant voice.
"Ms. Heidi, the arcanist who is responsible for the 'Virtual Magic Exercise' project publicly states that the two sudden death cases do not contradict the principle of 'virtual reality', and what is needed is a body examination before the stimulation with illusion. She believes that Master Karu's attack is absurd and illogical. It's like when somebody drives off a cliff in an alchemical car after getting drunk, he is calling for a total ban on alchemical cars instead of forbidding drunk driving.
"The arcanists have been debating fiercely on the matter. Right now, the Affair Committee is more inclined to control the promotion of the 'Virtual Magic Exercise…"
Donnie heard the news in the middle of his work. Finding it odd, he blurted out, "How is this happening?"
Under normal circumstances, as Mr. Evans' student, Ms. Heidi's project shouldn't have been attacked so hard.
As if he guessed Donnie's confusion, the boss chuckled. "After writing 'What Is Life?', it is said that Mr. Evans left our world with the empress and went to another universe for adventure to seek the path of immortality. Right now, the prince is the regent of the country. After certain things are figured out in the adventure, it is possible that the empress will return and give away the throne."
In the first year of the arcana calendar, the Kingdom of Holm obtained the Holy City as well as all the papal states. So, "empress" was added to Natasha's titles.
"Wow… We can go to a parallel universe for adventures now?" Donnie asked in confusion and shock.
"What do you think Mr. Evans has been working on in the past twenty years besides quantum field theory?" Dollos seemed to be rather informed.
Donnie was suddenly reinvigorated. "Are they going to the universe that intersects with ours?"
"How is it possible? When we go to that universe, the ocean of energy we count on will be no longer usable because of the quick fluctuations. Other than the demigods who partly grasp the secrets of high dimensions, the other demigods wouldn't have much strength left after they go there." The boss chuckled. "However, even if they go to other parallel universes, their strength will also be greatly reduced. I wonder if Mr. Evans has solved the problem in his research. After all, I'm told that only the top legends can be taken away by the demigods."
"Alright…" Donnie suddenly felt that his horizon was broadened. This world included not just the Rentato he lived in, but also the vast cosmos and the countless parallel universes. There were too many places he could explore.
So, there was no telling when Mr. Evans or Her Majesty would return from their exploration? That could explain the situation. For the grand arcanists, it was very common for them to be engaged in field research. They wouldn't tell anyone on purpose, and naturally, the TV channels, radio stations, and newspapers did not know anything about it.
Shaking his head, Donnie went on wiping, and he reached a corner, where a row of books on the theories of the school of necromancy was placed.
"It's a shame that none of the books are about specific applications. Otherwise, I can try to analyze them right now." Donnie sighed regretfully. Under the government of the Congress of Magic, arcana theories were not confidential, and everybody was welcome to study and discuss them. However, the specific magic application and alchemical tricks could only be exchanged when they had clearances, like when they became students of a certain magic college.
As he wiped, Donnie suddenly saw a book with a black spine. On the cover of the book, written in the language of the ancient Magic Empire was…

In this magic world, knowledge is power.

You wake up even before the sun rises — without a trace of the alcohol from the night before. You decide to take another morning run, and this time you plan to run a bit farther.

You decide to wait a bit for the sun to get a little bit higher before setting off. You leave the axe but you still bring your borrowed dagger. 

You make your way to the north gate, tracing the same path as before and greeting the same people. The people you pass by seem less suspicious after seeing you twice in a row.

You see the same guard from yesterday morning at the gate. He waves.

"I heard you had a bit of an adventure with Trent," he says. "A rogue wizard and some hounds?"

"Hell hounds," you clarify, "and a demon"

The guard seems a bit surprised, a demon was not something most men could face and live.

"Trent killed the wizard," you explain, "and the demon."

The guard nods. Eomer and Trent seem to have an almost mythic reputation in the town. Giving Trent all the credit for last night seems to be more acceptable than weaving a story that includes a new recruit.

"Run safe," the guard waves you off.

You run outwards for a mile before running the circumference of the town. The nine-mile route gives you a clearer picture of the surroundings: the status of the roads and trails, as well as key terrain features.

You make it a point to focus on your footfalls time and again — honing your blindsight which you learned from your encounter with bats.

You encounter a few merchants setting off early from the town to reach the city. You also see a couple of adventuring parties, going off to fulfill a guild quest.

The sky shows a hint of rain — probably in the afternoon — and you wonder if this would affect your trip with Trent to meet the smith.

You remember to consciously sweat on your last mile, just to keep up appearances as always.

"Good run?" asks the guard as he sees you approaching. Clearly not asking for a detailed response.

"Yes," you reply. "Early appointment," you say as you continue past the guard with a light jog.

You pass by your room to retrieve your two axes and then head off to Trent's house. You are uncertain whether you should knock, so you stand outside for a bit.

"Why are you standing there at this hour?" yells Trent, showing signs of being woken. "Meet me at the guild at noon, we'll be seeing the smith after lunch.

You hand him the newly-bought axe and he promptly takes it.

He tests the edge as well as the balance of the weapon and he seems satisfied.

"Good axe," he says. "Noon at the guild," he leaves with one last reminder.

You leave Trent's home and spend a couple of hours browsing the nearby shops and grabbing something to eat. 

The shopkeepers are mostly friendly — especially the ones you call by name. They seem to recall you being with Eomer's party from the other day and assumed they were introduced. 

You managed to get a couple of daggers, similar to the one lent to you, for 4 gold in one shop — and in another shop, you obtained 50-feet of rope for 10 gold. Together with the food you sampled, everything cost you 15 gold — leaving you with five.

You managed to get directions to the local bookstores from your conversations with the shopkeepers — and with a few hours to kill, you decide to pay it a visit.

The store was located well away from the general stores and like Glenn's, it had glass windows and seemed to cater more to nobles than ordinary people.

You enter the store — the sound of ringing bells attached to the door heralding your arrival.
Different kinds of bookshelves line the walls and the center of the store holds a couple of well-made wooden tables. 

"Buying or selling?" asks the shopkeeper without looking, seemingly busy with his reading. He looks up and sees you, frowning at your appearance — particularly at your plain clothing.

"I'd like to see some books," you say as you approach the man.

"The cheapest book I sell costs five gold," he says with a hint of disdain. "The more expensive ones can cost hundreds of gold."

"I have gold," you reply, taking out your last five gold coins. "Five gold for a couple of hours of reading — and I promise to be careful with the books."

He grasps the gold as if he was weighing them.

"Everything but the books on the ivory case," he finally says, "and make sure to be careful with the bindings."

He goes back to his reading.

You scan the books on display, finally settling on one pertaining to the history of the kingdom. 
The language is similarly archaic, but the texts are still somewhat familiar.

It seems the town you're in is governed by the Raelion Kingdom, with Istvan the fourth as the reigning king.

You take short cursory glances at the pages, absorbing the information contained in the book with utmost efficiency.

You put the book back to its place and reach for a second one — which is followed by a third and then a fourth….

In just two hours you manage to read and absorb the information from 18 books — with topics in history, local lore, magical flora and fauna, geography, and even a few stories of adventure.

You place the final book on its stand and signal the shopkeeper that you'll be leaving. 

He nods in acknowledgment not bothering to lead you out or check your things.

You noticed he was observing you at certain times and probably judged you weren't the type who would steal.

You head to the door but change your mind — instead, you approach the man reading at the counter.

"I heard you can get books on magic," you say to the man. "I would like to buy a few, if it's possible?"

"Those books cost at least 20 gold," he answers. "The more expensive ones cost more than a hundred gold."

"I can afford that much," you proclaim.

"They're not much use anyway," he advises. "You'll still need an actual mage to guide you in your studies — so it's better to apprentice yourself to one if you really want to learn the art."

"I'll take that into consideration," you say, "but I'll still purchase the books if you have them."

"I have two of them right now," he offers. "20 and 50 gold, they're yours if you have the money."

You shake your head.

"My gold is with the guild," you say. "And I don't know if I could get back in time with my trip to the smith."

"Hmmm," he seems to finally piece things together. 

"You're Eomer's new recruit," he says, startling you for a moment. "Word gets around in this small town"

"The only smith worth taking a trip to is Torm," he explains noting your confusion, "and you'll need Trent to get to see the bastard."

You nod and smile, impressed at his deductive skills and how rumor and information fly within this small town.

"Caleb," you introduce yourself, extending a hand.

"Everett," he replies, raising a hand in greeting but not taking the handshake.

"I can't hold any of the books for you," he says, "but I can send word when one comes in — for a small fee of course."

"That'll be enough," you reply. "I'll return with the money in a day or two — hopefully you'll still have the books." 

"Hopefully," he says with no hint of commitment whatsoever.

You raise a hand, signaling that you'll be going.

Everett merely goes back to his reading — paying you no more heed.

It's now close to noon after that two hours at the bookshop. You decide to head to the guild for your meeting with Trent. With nothing in your pouch or pocket — you'll also need some of the gold which you deposited for safe-keeping.

You arrive earlier than Trent, finding no trace of him in the guild. 

You approach the notice boards to see a few of the listed quests — just to see what kind of tasks the guild requires.

There seems to be an ongoing bounty for goblins and orcs — 1 and 3 gold for each, with the right ear serving as proof of the kill.

You see a few escort jobs listed with a few crossed out, presumably after the employer gathered enough men.

The guild offers an assortment of quests from gathering materials to investigations. It seems it rarely runs out of jobs to give its adventurers.

After browsing through the notice boards you take a seat in one of the chairs in a free table.

Pretty soon you spot the familiar form of Trent climbing up the stairs. 

He takes a seat at the table.

"Perhaps this isn't the best time to meet the smith," he starts. "I'm pretty banged-up from yesterday and I could use a day of rest."

"Of course, of course," you swiftly reply. "Why did you even come over? You could have just sent word through one of your sons," you say with a trace of concern.

"I'm not that banged up boy," he laughs. "Besides, I'm here for me gold."

You nod in understanding.

"I met the bookseller, Everett," you start. "He seems to be acquainted with you and Eomer."

"So you met that wily bastard," Trent says with a hint of irritation. "That bookseller is no simple person," he says with a tone of warning.

"He is a mage — and a battlemage at that."

"I didn't realize that," you say honestly. "He didn't feel the least bit…" you fumble for the word, "…magical."

"Everett was one of the kingdom's mightiest battlemage," Trent goes on, seemingly starting a long story. "He took part in multiple battles, before suddenly deciding to just quit for no reason after a few years of service."

"The king didn't take his decision lightly, fearing Everett would go to the other side. Alas, Everett just took his savings and opened a bookshop — never practicing magic ever again."

"There seems to be more to that tale," you press the old veteran.

"Indeed, indeed," he answers. "But they are not my stories to tell."

He gets up from his chair and heads to one of the counters — most likely to get his gold. He spends a couple of minutes discussing something with the attendant before he returns to the table.

He returns with a small pouch in his hand, clearly not getting the whole amount from last night.

"Frost wolves have been spotted near the forest," he says. "Lately, they've been venturing out of the forest and a few caravans have been attacked."

"The guild is offering an additional 10 gold for each wolf — but we can get to them after we're done getting you a proper weapon."

"Won't the caravans be in danger?" you ask. In your mind, any delay in stomping out a confirmed threat could lead to dire consequences.

"The next caravan won't be passing for a week," he explains, "waiting a day or two shouldn't be a problem."

Trent rises from his chair.

"Tell the others to prepare for wolf-hunting in the coming days," he says. "We'll meet at dawn at the southern gate to see Torm about your weapon."

You wake up in a strange world where magic corrupts both men and beasts. You find loyal companions who would stand by your side, weapons that would break the sky, and the makings of an army that would shake the entire world.

During the Spring Festival, Zhao Yu finally had a good rest and got rid of the exhaustion that had resulted from the grueling process of solving the Devil Case. Although others thought that his leg was still recovering, his leg injury actually had no impact on his daily activities.
In his spare time, he carefully studied the upgraded system and the many new devices. He found that among the devices that he had acquired, the most powerful one was a Top Grade Device called the Emergency Evacuation Ball.
This device could be automatically activated when its owner's life was threatened, preventing any danger from harming him. However, so far, Zhao Yu had not had any occasion to use it.
Through his efforts in solving the previous major cases, he now had three Emergency Evacuation Balls, which were enough for him to deal with any unexpected accidents. Therefore, he decided to use one on Miao Ying. In this way, Miao Ying also has a source of vital protection!
Just before he was going to do that, he found that using an automatically activated device for others required extra points. For a Top Grade Device like an Emergency Evacuation Ball, the amount required was 450 points. Zhao Yu now had 460 points, which was just enough!
He couldn't open a new side adventure at this moment, so nothing was more important than using these points to protect Miao Ying's life. Therefore, he did not hesitate to use the rest of his points on Miao Ying.
This device was invisible, so Miao Ying wouldn't be able to notice any differences versus her usual self. Moreover, since it was invisible, Miao Ying could not see anything, even when the Emergency Evacuation Ball was activated.
After Zhao Yu used this device on Miao Ying, he only had 10 points left, which was the lowest amount of points he had ever had. However, knowing that Miao Ying was safe was all that matter, and it made him feel very relieved.
Zhao Yu thought that he could no longer get adventure points after the side adventures stopped. But, surprisingly, when he opened a hexagram the next day, his adventure points had increased! His completion score was 78% on that day, which caused his points to increase by exactly 78!
At this point, Zhao Yu finally understood that, although he couldn't have new side adventures at this time, the rule of getting points had changed. The completion score would now directly transfer over to the adventure points. In this way, he could still get new points, which actually seemed to be a much fairer measuring scale than before.
Zhao Yu shook his head as he thought... In this case, if I want to get more points, I must open a new hexagram every single day. But… It's New Year. Can't I just have a good rest first? Alright, forget it... Let me see what's new for today...
