"Hey, hey, don't look at me like that. I know that you don't believe there is a technology that will allow monster tamers to fight in a simulated environment where they won't get hurt, but it's true. We will be going there right now and you'll see that it's all true. Come on, let's go," said Mr. Blackwood, gesturing for the class to stand up. He walked out of the door and led the class towards a room filled with strange equipment.
Mr. Blackwood turned to the class and started to explained to them. "Okay, to be clear, there are 5 different types of monster tamer battles, and you will experience all of them. The 5 types of monster tamer battles are: 1 vs 1 solo battle, 2 vs 2 team battle, 3 vs 3 team battle, 3 vs 3 tag team team battle, and 5 vs 5 tag team battle.
"1 vs 1 is a solo battle is just two monsters tamer facing off against each other, no big deal. The amount of monster cards a monster tamer is limited to use is 10 monster cards. It doesn't matter if you decide to summon out all your monsters at once to fight or only someone 1 monster to fight at a time, as long as you don't exceed the 10 monster card limit. Also, before, you had to stop and be careful to not kill a monster whatsoever, but now because of the simulation technology, monster tamers aren't limited to the power they can use. If you recall a monster to its monster card, then you can't use that monster anymore throughout the battle.
"2 vs 2 team battle is the same thing, just with 2 people on a team fighting another team of 2 people. The amount of monster cards each monster tamer can use is limited to 7. 3 vs 3 is the same thing, with 3 people on a team. The amount of monster cards each monster tamer can use is limited to 5.
"3 vs 3 tag team battle is where there are 3 people on a team, but each team chooses one person to fight. They then have a normal 1v1 solo battle. The person that loses has to get away from the battlefield and the team that person was from has to choose their next person to battle. The person that wins stay on the battlefield and fight until he loses. Yes, it is possible for one person to beat all 3 monster tamers on the other team although that is highly unlikely. Each monster tamer is limited to 10 monster cards.
"5 vs 5 tag team is the same thing as 3 vs 3 tag team battle, just with 5 people on a team. Again, it is possible for one monster tamer on one team to beat all 5 monster tamers on the other team, but it is highly unlikely that it will happen."

"Today, you will be doing 1 vs 1 solo battle against each other. Your opponents will be picked at random. The school have decided that each 1 vs 1 solo battle should not last more than 30 minutes. If you and your opponent are still not done after the 30 minute mark, then you will both lose," said Mr. Blackwood. "Any questions?"
Silence.
"Well, if there aren't any questions, then go into a Simulator Capsule, put on a headset, and be ready to battle after 20 minutes," said Mr. Blackwood. "Oh, and in order to motivate students to try their best, the school has decided that the first place student would get 1,000 school credits. The second place would get 500 school credits, and the third place would get 100 school credits."
The students, hearing the reward, immediately got hyped up and rushed towards the Simulator Capsules. Well, except Steve, who just casually walked to an empty Simulator Capsule. 1,000 school credits! School credits were something that was limited to the school. School credits could not be brought with any money, only earned through completing tasks and some events. The school offered some unique monsters that couldn't be brought with money. Of course, they cost a ton of school credits, but there was hope that they could actually get some.
Students were allowed to give credits to other students. Of course, everytime students transferred school credits to another student, the school would take 5% of the credit that was to be transferred. This was to allow the students to make bets with credits and pool together credits to buy something together, but would also limit what the students could buy even if they pooled their money together. This also prevented students from earning too much money from other students by completing stupid tasks for them like taking care of their monsters for a week and other stupid things.
<School credits? I don't really need them, but I guess that Charlene and Charlotte will have a use for them.> Steve talked to himself in his mind. He decided to ask the system. <What do you say, system?>

And God's abyss must be one of the most probable options. The higher up won't care about what normal people suffer in there. It will mostly be a training ground for the genius and seeded students who could be selected for the next round.


So it was necessary for Daniel to reach at least 7 stars before the exam. With his current worth at hands, he could barely reach intermediate 6-star warrior.

For someone in warrior stage he can barely stay for 2 hours in the simulation after that they are forcefully ejected out of the system.


When he entered the room, the operator of the room greeted Daniel," Are you here for you daily practice bout against a third rank monster. 


Last time you took down a third rank saber tiger. It was a cat similar to a sabertooth with a much bigger body. It is about three meters tall from the ground to the head and seven meters long from his nose to the tail. 


His tail was two meters long and could even smash two inches thick iron plates. 


It took Daniel to complete one hour forty minutes to take down such a powerful beast. It was a truly magnificent display of smart and power he employed to take down that monster.


Past while facing the saber tiger,


Daniel was standing facing the saber tiger who has discovered his presence through its sense of smell and appeared in front of Daniel. 


It circled around him. Although they were in a forest it's giant body took down all the trees on its path and never left his eyes off him.


Daniel didn't raise his guns at him but he too didn't take his eyes off him. 

He has simulated the wind attributes in him to increase his speed while thunder at the same time to increase his reflex actions speed.


Then saver tiger jumped at him which Daniel barely dodged. He then used the short knife in his thigh pocket and gave a sharp cut on his foot.


Although the wound wasn't deep it was enough to disrupt some of his movements. But soon his flexible tail impacted him on his chest and he was sent flying in the air. 

This gave him time to pick up his gun and sent three quick shots at him. 


Each of fire attributes attack. But it only wounded it's forehead at the side and dodged all attacks in the center of the forehead. 


But the misfire didn't disappoint him. He then sent two thunder shots at its nose. Soon it's one eye and none were injured. Affecting his sense of smell and also his vision. 


Now he speeds up his attacks and started to attack his wounded legs and disbalance him. 


He used the wind and thunder attributes to stimulate his body and dodge the attacks while attacking his weak parts of its legs. 


After all the bigger the body the more pressure is exerted on the legs and of the legs are injured he wouldn't be able to move and become an easy target.


Even if its senses are injured Daniel being a 5-star warrior while facing a monster on par with master warrior his attack wasn't powerful enough to wound him in one hit.

The tiger itself sent some fireballs at him since he managed to dodge all his close range attacks. these fireballs managed to burn his hair and clothes slightly.


After an hour of the attack, he immobilized him and then with his special gun attack of tri attack which hit it's the most wounded part he managed to take down the tiger.


This operator was overseeing the battle and based on this battle the principal decided to give him a special test and see if he could complete the task or not.


This task is not a power battle but it tests his strat give mind. He will be head of a simulated town and with a limited master warrior, he has to protect the city from a monster invasion.

Daniel Soul has a dream of becoming strong so that he could fight monsters and protect
 his family from the outside threats of monsters and their possible invasion. 


As he grows old soon he sees that the world is much bigger and it is at a state of risk. How will he protect his world?

"Both of the twins and a few other people from Loyd's last match are going to require a psychiatrist you know," one of the viewing rooms technicians said standing next to the general.
"Yeah, and we'll need to call that guy again to see what happened in there. The protocol he used just before turning into that monster doesn't exist on the simulator."

The last of the matches finished as a group of medical officers rushed into the room splitting up and checking both the twins. 
"Hey, what's going on here?" someone called from across the room as everyone who had witnessed what Loyd did, climbed out of their simulators. All but a few had lost the color in their faces and most couldn't even look at his pod.
Loyd sat there waiting for the simulated world to dissolve before he got out trying to figure out what he had just done. He looked down at his real hands to see they were trembling and for a second he thought he heard someone call his name. He looked up at the hatch to make sure it was sealed, it was. The voice called again this time clearer. 
"Loyd!"
It was a sweet voice, the voice of a girl maybe? He swallowed, knowing the pods were soundproof, and called back. 
"Hello? Who's there?"
The voice didn't reply. Loyd sat there, the simulation had ended and his simulator had already disconnected from him, when someone opened the hatch.
"Come on now boy, we're going to take you to the intensive care ward till your neural pathways stop freaking out." A doctor in a hazmat suit was standing on the other side holding out their hand.
"I'm fine, just going over what happened in my head." Loyd was angry, he didn't know why, but he was.
"The last signal your pod sent us was one similar to the first test pilots. We have to get you somewhere calming, before you end up frying yourself." The doctor sounded worried. 
Loyd smiled. 
"This is the most calming place I can be." He reached forwards and triggered his simulator's neural link. 
"Now if you'll excuse me, I've got to practice some more. My performance today was way too jerky and unrefined." 
The doctor pulled back and watched. "We will continue to monitor you for as long as you are in the simulator. If we decide that your neural state has degraded to a point where brain damage is expected to occur, we will pull you out forcefully."
"Fine then, now let me be." Loyd shut the hatch and sat there. He checked his sync rate and was rather pleased with himself. Even a one-point increase was difficult to achieve, he had gained three. He joined a planet side AI battle and took his time trying that fighting style he had used against the twins. One of the AI's managed to hit him on his first and second try but by the third try, he did it flawlessly.
"Loyd? Are you there?" The voice resounded in his head again, even more clear than the time before. 
He simply stood there, the mission already completed, and checked for where the voice was coming from. 
"Hello?"
It wasn't coming from the speakers. 
"Can you not hear me?"
It wasn't coming from his neural com either. 
"Please, answer me." 
The voice sounded, scared? Loyd couldn't make it out. 
"I'm here, where are you?" He didn't speak out loud, but rather in his head, to test if it was coming from the simulation.
"Here! I'm right here!" The voice had heard him!
"Where? Where is here?" 
"I am not inside the simulation. I am wherever you want." The voice was starting to sound even clearer and happier.
"Great, I'm going loony." Loyd paused thinking. "Can I really talk to you when I disconnect?"  
Loyd was starting to feel hungry again and wondered if they had some leftover steak in the cafeteria.
"Yes, as long as you maintain that feeling you have."
"What do you mean?"
"That sensation of hunger is just a side effect of talking to me. I am sorry about that but I haven't eaten in a while."
"So, how can we still talk if I disconnect from my simulator?" Loyd started the disconnect procedure to test what the girl said.
"Isn't it obvious? We are both parts of the Swarm."
"What do you mean? I'm human. I've seen the DNA tests that prove it."
"And why would they not forge those tests? You can trust me. You can trust your sister."
Loyd finished disconnecting from the simulator halfway through her last sentence. 
"Then, what am I, if I'm not what I've been told I am my entire life?" 
He sat there, praying that he was going insane, as a face started to materialize in front of him, smiling.
"You're my brother, of course," the girl giggled as she materialized even more.
"How can I see you?!" Loyd was starting to panic. The hatch opened and the doctor was there again.
"Something wrong? That still looked pretty sloppy out there." The doctor's voice betrayed his fears, and it didn't help that the doctor was trembling. 
"No, it was better than when I fought the twins, and I'm starting to get hungry. I thought I'd get some food before training some more." Loyd climbed out, taking note that the girl was incorporeal.
"Well, we need to do a scan of your head afterward, and this time I've got a form from the General himself, so you can't say no." The doctor sounded pretty smug now and his trembling had stopped.
"He's hiding how scared he is. You can smell it can't you? The fear on his breath is escaping through his mask's filter." Loyd's sister started walking towards him.
"Fine, I'll go with you but let me get something from the cafeteria first." Loyd could smell the doctor's fear, it was exciting. 
"That's fine, your brain seems to have calmed down, judging from your simulator's scans." The doctor handed Loyd the tablet that the scan was on.
"Wow, so that's my brain? My brain is firing at five times the normal speed?! How did I manage that?" Loyd was starting to get scared now.
"You joined the swarm silly. You unlocked the deepest reaches of your mind." His sister seemed rather happy. "And now I can finally talk with someone."
"Well, we have recorded that the first generation of pilots had a similar thing happen when they turned off the synapse dampeners, but I really don't know." The doctor sounded pretty clueless at this point but the smell of fear was dissipating so Loyd guessed he had thought of something.
"Alright, then I'll cya after I get something to eat." Loyd walked to the doors, looking back over his shoulder to see the doctor collecting his stuff, and Loyd saw a syringe in the mix of medical supplies.
"Yeah, he was going to tranquilize you if anything happened in the simulator." His sister had started floating around now and was lazily drifting alongside him.
"So, when would I learn how to fly?" Loyd said, jokingly of course. He fully expected that he was just having a mental break down at this point.
"Oh, you just have to reverse the link." his sister was checking her nails now.
"And how would I do that?" he asked.
"It's easy but you'll have to do it when we get to the cafeteria." She smiled at him. "Or it'll look like you just shutdown. I can make you keep eating remotely but that's about it."
"How will I eat? Will I turn back into that monster that ate two kids?!" Loyd was wondering if she was responsible for that.
"No, you'd eat like you normally do." 
"Good, then let's get going." Loyd started to jog to the cafeteria.
xX In the General's office Xx
"What do you mean something happened to the boy? The implant should've blocked everything!" The man who claimed to be Loyd's father was yelling in the General's face.
"Well, during the simulated battle today, he ripped open the cockpit of two of our best's and ate them." The General was calm and collected but still very scared as to what was happening with the boy.
"Not possible, unless he had no other option. Why would he do that?" 
"Well, according to our scans, he did it because he was hungry." 
The man looked up at the general and fell back into his chair. He placed his face in his hands while he tried to think of something that might've failed. 
"Do you not know what might be going on then?" the general was rather curious now.
"No, I don't, but I have an idea." the man looked up at the general. "Tell me now, did it say anything about him talking to someone?" The man had an idea and if it turned out to be true his project was both a complete success and a total failure.
After looking through the data again the general nodded. "When he went back in, yes. Why do you ask?" the general was getting more and more confused now. 
"His new type is the same design as his bio-type but using the crystals. He was talking to his sister, his bio-type. Which should be impossible." The man stood and started pacing. "We have her over a hundred feet below the surface of our facility and in a lead box which has been proven to block the swarm's hive mind." 
"So, what you're telling me, is he can communicate with his CTAS remotely?" The general now stood. "And that the lead we put in his chest isn't keeping the swarm out of his head?!"
"The swarm can't communicate through lead, but Loyd and thirteen aren't fully Swarm. It may have something to do with the human DNA they have." The man looked up at the general again. "Where is Loyd now?"
The general looked back at his tablet. "He's entering the cafeteria now, why?"
"You need to get an enforcer team to him now. If he connects to his sister remotely, she'll be able to move and get out of the facility." The man started heading for the door, pulling his phone out of his pocket as he went.
"And why is that so bad?" The general was still staring at his tablet. 
"Because, it means we've just made a new hive mind, here on mars, and we haven't been all that nice to his sister, have we general?" The man left the room, his call connecting as he shut the door.
"Then, we can fight fire with fire, swarm with swarm," grumbled the General.

The swarm has been a fact of life for the past hundred or so years, especially after they managed to make planetfall. The subsequent evacuation was considered the only chance for humanity to survive as a species. We took to space like fish to water; it seemed to be in our DNA to explore the universe. Earth was quickly devoured while the escapees managed to reach Mars, the point of the first contact with the swarm, a planet that even they had left for greener pastures. We set up an outpost and began creating a colony, but the swarm was still in the back of our minds. They had our planet, and we wanted it back!

Once the archer classes ended, Ethan stayed on that floor because he didn't have anything else to do at school. Also, since he couldn't level up his main skills against the low-level monsters, Ethan decided to take a different approach.

"This will do," Ethan smiled in satisfaction.
Ethan couldn't even remember the last time he used a long-ranged weapon, but now that he had some skills related to that kind of fighting style, it would waste not to use. Ethan chose that crossbow because he would be able to level up his skills faster and because he was kind of slow while using a normal bow. His aim wasn't really that good either. After doing some tests, Ethan confirmed a few things. With bows, he could hit anything within five meters. With the crossbows, the range is duplicated. The cause of that was probably his dexterity. It was obvious that such stat was the multiplier of his range. Although he could easily increase it by using stats points or skill points, Ethan decided to train as it is.

"I guess I was wrong… My accuracy is what determines the range of my attacks. Dexterity is what determines the power behind them. Still, there is a limit to how much my dexterity can influence the power of certain weapons. They have limits, after all."
Ethan succeeded in passing the two first stages of the simulator using his crossbow alone. However, his hit rate increased when Eagle Eye leveled up. It was a bit weird to learn things like that after using the system for a whole year, but it couldn't be helped. Although Ethan hit and kill certain enemies by kicking weapons and sometimes even stones, he never thought too much about it. In any case, Ethan had a lot of room for improvement since he had to reload his crossbow ten times in order to kill one hundred monsters. That means that his hit rate was only at fifty percent.
"Those wooden bolts might be useful until the fourth stage, but I don't think the lizardmen will fall after being a hit single time, even if I hit their heads. Their skin is that thick… I guess it is that then, I will change to my main fighting style after the fourth stage. Ian didn't give me a time limit as to when I should reach the fifteenth floor of the simulator, but I shouldn't take my time considering that the expedition will take place in less than two weeks."
Ethan lost some time to clear the third and fourth stages since he didn't try to use any weapon, but he wasn't in a hurry. Before trying to reach the fifteenth floor, he had to study each one and think of the best way to clear them. Based on his experience, he could clear even the sixth stage with a single use of Explosive Impact, but given that he didn't want to use potions, Ethan could only use that skill three times. That kind of limitation was a bit annoying, but since Ethan operated with that kind of mindset until now, it always worked for him.

Ethan couldn't help but smirk when he saw fifty stone golems appearing in front of him. Those kinds of enemies were a bit hard, and that wasn't a pun. That being said, it was the kind of enemy Ethan liked the most. Before they could even move a single inch, Ethan appeared in front of the group and split one of them in half with his massive sword.

The golems which were nearby swung their massive arms toward Ethan, but with a single movement of his sword, he broke them all. While some of the golems tried to attack with their other arm and others tried to repair themselves. Ethan jumped once again, spun in the air, and in the next second, the head of five golems began to roll on the ground.

Ethan was lucky. He knew that most golems had cores, and when the cores are destroyed, the monsters die, but they didn't expect that they would have their cores in such an obvious spot. Weirdly enough, Ethan jumped even higher, and instead of swinging his sword around, he pointed his hands at the head of those creatures and then made a rain of ice arrows hit them.

"… What?" Ethan muttered in shock. "Why did I do that?"
In just a few seconds, twenty golems died when they got hit by the arrows in the head. Although that was an efficient way of doing that, it wasn't something Ethan had done in the past. So, it didn't make any sense that without thinking, he did it. That was weird, but Ethan didn't have time to think about it. The other golems were about to surround him. Not as fast as before, but Ethan quickly disposed of the golems. Their bodies were sturdy, but with Bash at that level, Ethan could crush them pretty quick.

After the message disappeared, Ethan immediately understood that the simulator would be something that would be useful to him in many ways. Several golems appeared in front of him, but this new group was completely engulfed in flames this time. Even without getting hit by them, Ethan would be able to level up his resistances… they were indeed a species of very convenient monster.
"I will definitely buy a simulator for myself," Ethan said.

Thanks to the help of a cursed power, Ethan, a young hero, managed to defeat the demon king and his army singlehandedly.                 Many countries decided to do what they could to identify and train those people to avoid future disasters.
