Just a idea that was in my brain for a while.
I don't have a routine, so it just when i feel like it so expect irregular updates.

A former mercenary now otaku died but that wasn't his end his soul fused with asura (Soul Eater) and gave in to madness and fear.

Lets see how he gets by with the fear and madness of a Monster but the pride of the Mercenary King

jin woo was walking in an empty forest where Brios was out of his shadow walking alongside with him .The forest was so dark that a normal person will find it hard to see but that was not the case for both Jin woo and Brios they were walking asif like the place was fully lit . 

Brios was taking the lead and was guiding Jin woo towards the Demon realm . He was quite familiar with this place since this was the place where he fought and got captured by the humans .Most of the demon takes this path to reach human kingdom fast . 

"Sir Jin woo a strong monster is heading towards us " Brios suddenly voice out . He was able to detect the monster before Jin woo could because he was a demon himself and could sense well in this demon region .

Jin woo was also alarmed by Brios sudden warning . He tried to sense what was approaching him but no matter how much he tried he was not able to sense anything . He didn't know how Brios came to know before him but he just decided to trust him for a time being since Brios might be right . 

Both Brios and Jin woo was now at the look out while trying to be aware of the surroundings and like Brios said Jin woo could sense that a strong monster was approaching him . He didn't run but called back Brios in his Shadow since the monster approaching him didn't seem to be a weak monster .

He took out his dagger and got up above the tree waiting for the monster. He has activated his stealth so as not to be notice . He stood at the tree top while looking at the direction of the monster approaching .

The forest was rustling with sound from everywhere , the atmosphere was irri , the sky was dark . Everything in the forest was out of ordinary which will even be able to scare the most courageous man .At that time two humanoid beast was seen in the spot where Jin woo and Brios were . They were 4 meters tall with long hands reaching their knees . One had a red skin whereas the other had a black skin . They had big eyes with a big mouth and a sharp teeth . 

They stop and the spot and was sniffing around the ground like a dog . 

Jin woo ,who had his stealth activated look at those two new monster with an intresting expression . He used inspection to see their stats .

As Jin woo saw their stats his eyes almost pope out . Their states were way higher than his ,he didn't even know whether he will be able to handle even one of them let alone two and suddenly the system voice him out .

All the hope of his escape was turn down when a system came up to him with a secret quest . He was ever ready to run for his life since the creature infront of him was way stronger than him but he didn't wanted to do so since he was tempted by the reward as well as scared of the punishment . He didn't know what was this retribution from the unknown but this punishment was also seen in the main quest .

He drop his idea to run and started thinking of a way to attack them but first he had to ask Brios whether he was familiar with this Soul Eater .

"Hey Brios are you familiar with this monsters" Jin woo ask while trying to be seen by soul eater .

Brios was quite for some time and finally he spoke ,"Oh no sir Jin woo ,those are actually soul eater . They are a type of monster who eats the soul . They mostly hunt for a prey with a strong soul regardless of the race. They are feared by all the races especially by elves .

" I would suggest that you run since they are able to sense that you have a strong soul and they will try every means to kill you " 

Brios spoke in a fearful way . He himself was also scared since getting the soul eaten was the only thing he will wish not to experience .

Jin woo just listen without change of expression .This was the first time he ever heard of soul eater so he was not so scared of them but despite that he was only worried about how to attack them . Since the system gave me this secret quest that means I will be able to defeat them right ? 

Jin woo even started doubting the system whether if it's purposely trying to get him killed by giving such impossible quest . 

But he just cast his thoughts away and decided to think in positive way . He had his stealth activated so his presence was being conceal quite well . 

Both soul eater were in the same spot while sniffing the air around to smell the presence of Jin woo but it was asif like the smell has already disappear . 

On the other hand Jin woo was hidden behind the tree while waiting for the perfect opportunity to strick .

He was mostly scared of the red one since it was the one with the highest stats . 

He remain hidden keeping his presence conceal at the same time both soul eater were seen walking away from the scene .

Jin woo didn't wait any longer and decided to follow them while maintaining a safe distance . 
He was not very confident about his current strength because he doubt that he will not be able to defeat them face to face .He then got more determine to raise his current rank since through raising rank his strength seems to be raising at fast pace .

After a while of chase Jin woo saw that both the soul eater were now lying on the ground with their eyes close ,this was like a God given opportunity for him to kill them .

But he still waited since he need to let them drowse well in their sleep . Time ticks by and he waited . A minute passed and he still waited patiently . 

After an hour had passed he decided to take action . All this time he had his stealth activated so his mana was drain by quater but it didn't affect his battle performance .

He then quickly activated his Eclipse after which a dark domain appeared covering the whole surrounding and also buffing him with stats boost.

 Without waiting any further he blink from his spot directly towards Soul Eater who were sleeping peacefully . 

He drew his right hand out ready to use wrath .As the approaching distance got close ,he quickly placed his right hand on the chest of the black soul eater .

"Wrath" 

After he murmured that both of the soul eater were   alarmed by the sudden danger . They tried to get up but an explosion suddenly occurred blasting them off from their spot . 

Jin woo took the chance and blink to his spot towards the seriously injured black soul eater .

He didn't wait for it to even know what had Suddenly occured and chop off its head . 

The head of the black soul eater was cut off while its eyes was wide open without even knowing what had happen .

Jin woo just took one glance at the headless body and then turn towards the other soul eater ,he didn't even took a glace at the notification . 

Infact he was relief that he got rid of one soul eater but the main problem was how to deal with this red one . 

From afar the red soul eater came to its senses and got up from the ground . It didn't have any injuries just some scratches . It had a face with full of annoyance with emitting a killing aura . 

It look at the distance where Jin woo was and as it turn its head and saw the headless body of its partner ,a dangerous aura started oozing out from its body . 

The rage of its howl was heard , the atmosphere got chill , the Eclipse domain started shaking .

Jin woo was observing the Soul Eater from a distance with a frown look . 

He didn't go for an attack because he found the situation dangerous ,even his domain started cracking which could mean that the monster Infront of him was way stronger than him but despite the danger he didn't back out .

He got himself ready for battle , his hp was getting drain by the aura emitted by the soul eater infront of him .

He just look at his hp and mana ,he was not very confident about defeating the Soul Eater infront of him but he took a look at his "ultima" skill Hoping that this will be something to save him .

Haruka POV

How the hell are we going to beat this thing?

I thought to myself as I was looking at the giant entity before us.

The four of us were encircling it. It was a giant monster with four legs and a head that only had a giant maw for a face, it had two very long arms with pointy and slim fingers, though they looked thin, the strength behind them was menacing, its green eerie color was sending shivers down my spine. The monster would also occasionally shout adding some sort of fear effect and paralysis that thankfully was immediately removed by the buffs from this elf.

Looking at the girls I know their strength and weaknesses, but this elf is all what we lacked. An actual ranged supporter and damage dealer, she was using an interesting bow, of which she would shoot several magic arrows made from mana, and every time the monster would howled, she would use some sort of blessing to remove it, it seems that the Cooldown of her blessing is compatible with the Cooldown of the soul eater's crowd control ability. Her damage was also not bad. She would deal low but constant amounts of damage with each arrow to the monster, too bad it has no eyes or any vulnerable organs on it, but still the damage from the magic arrows are enough to keep it occupied, or just to destabilize it if it was going to attack the one that was acting as vanguard…well vanguard is an overuse of the term, I am just poking the monster and dodging its attacks.

However, no matter how many times we attack it refuses to die! Every time we get its health points to 75% it howls and regenerates everything…we are turning in circles. We are getting exhausted and fatigued while it only gets angrier…if it was not for the passive of Daiki's skill we would have died many times now…the HP regeneration, the mana and stamina regen, and the de-buffs upon this monster are what is barely keeping us floating.

Misaka took it from me as I backed away for now, I needed to regenerate some stamina as I was losing too much. I trust her being able to avoid all damage. Sadly her ability is quite useless here. She can control the blood flow of any living thing, but this thing is not alive, it cannot bleed. And every damage we deal to it gets healed.

Yet she has enough agility to dodge and enough stamina to keep doing it for a few minutes.

Those minutes were all I need to get back to the fight.

This sword's base damage is quite high, and it is quite durable, it barely even have a nick or scratch on it after having repeatedly stabbed and slashed at this giant monster, that had a skin as hot as fire and as strong as rock.

Yet still, it has been always dealing the lowest amount of damage from the moment I began using it. It is refusing me, I feel like I am fighting with a lump of steel instead of a well-crafted katana.

A notification soon popped into my head. It's been doing this for a long time now. This blade is somehow sentient and I cannot get it to acknowledge me.

Not even Daiki knew how to do so…

Looking at him I saw him sitting on the floor right next to one of the giant pyres of black flame, meditating probably but his eyes were opened, the green irises were looking at all of us with…interest.

Next to him was…was a zombie? Yes some sort of undead. But it is not fighting against Daiki or even facing him, nor is Daiki caring for what the zombie is doing.

I saw two veins of steel coming out from Daiki's right hand, and at their end was an anvil and a hammer, the both were used by the zombie who was striking at some black things. They looked like big round plate like objects…scales?

Once the man finished striking at them he would occasionally throw them into the pyre, then grab another one and repeat.

They have been doing this for a long time now, while Daiki only had a small smirk on his face…

Daiki's face expression then soon changed as his brows squinted and he rose instantly then Daiki suddenly disappeared and I heard the soul eater scream.

Turning back I saw Daiki that had just struck at the soul eater with his right fist, making it crash into the ground.

"This is the only time I well help against this spell, it is an annoying ray that will outright kill all of you if you don't disrupt it, don't try to dodge you won't dodge in time, believe me I tried."

He said then walked back, amazingly the zombie was still doing his job, as the link to the hammer and the anvil was not cut, in fact the veins grew and became longer that it didn't even disrupt his work. I turned back again and faced the giant monster. We need to get this over with, killing something of this strength is bound to make us stronger, though it is not as frightening as a black dragon, but it seems that is as dangerous as one…after all it is a soul eater, something which is similar to what Daiki is now…After all he ate the soul of that necromancer right in front of us…

I went and struck at the still downed monster, but even landing a piercing attack on its giant head did not yield a critical strike. I am getting the lowest amount of damage from this thing….

How the hell am I supposed to do it? What is needed of me? What do you want from me?!

Blood? Honor? Ah…I get it.

And now I understand even better, this thing is a katana after all, this mean that this was made by one from earth, or had known of these eastern swords…a king of swords it is, but still the price of using such thing was always high…

I sat down on both my knees and took a deep breath.

"What are you doing Haruka!" said Haruna who just managed to dodge an attack from the monster. Its hand swiped right above her head.

Everybody showed clear signs of exhaustion.

I took the blade with both my hands, pointing it not forward, but its tip towards my stomach instead.

And in a moment, without a shred of hesitation or fear, I stabbed at my own self. Until the blade exited through my back, shredding skin, flesh and bone.

It was incredibly painful, and I felt as if my insides were destroyed.

Haruna even screamed at the act I just did but another swipe from the soul eater forced the elf to shoulder dive her away from the impact.

I then stood up, my wound stopped hurting, so I stood not caring for the condition I am in right now.

It is quite simple, Give blood to receive honor…To use this one's strength one must be ready to do a Seppuku, Huh…

"Not bad, Haruka, you seem to have been able to tame it, now can you use it?"

Asked Daiki from far away.

Though I looked pale I still smiled back, I know exactly how to use this thing.

I placed the sword on my left side, where there should normally be the blade's sheath. But I received it without so I will have to make do with what I have.

I took a drawing stance and closed my eyes.

I even felt a presence guiding my movements. This presence materialized itself within the darkness of my mind. A giant being was behind me, he too had this blade only on a larger scale.

He was wearing old samurai armor, his face was that of demon from old Japanese mythologies.

A red demonic being with a long nose, similar to that of a Tengu, but with eyes filled with bloodlust and danger.

The Soul eater then opened its maw; channeling one of those rays that Daiki warned us from. If I were to look at Daiki now I would have seen him clenching his fists. He didn't want to help but I could have seen that he didn't want to see us meet our end right now.

The girls moved forward attacking the beast with all they had, they need to make it stop the chant otherwise we may all die.

The Oni took the same stance as I did and in one motion both our bodies synced.

We swiped at the air and in the direction of the soul eater; the cut sent a wave of darkness from my own sword that cut through the fabric of the world itself.

"Dimensional cut!"

Roared the demon behind me and the neck of the soul eater was severed in a single motion as the wave cut through flesh and bone. Its channeled spell was canceled almost immediately as it fell down on the ground, turning to dust, while green particles began to be released from it.

It even made contact with the rim of the territorial skill of Daiki and was able to distort it for a second before the wave dissipate.

"Not bad" said Daiki to all of us. "You were able to defeat this on your first try, but you still need to get stronger" he said while he appeared near the crumbling corps of the soul eater.

He opened his mouth inhumanely wide and vast amounts of the green particles began to be sucked inside it. After having fully consumed all the particles he turned around to us saying.

"Very well! Time to step things up a bit. Rest for now, after the blacksmith finishes we will start a whole new training program…Demon killing, It should be fun. I can vouch for it."

Demons…as in the demon that he killed that time in the arena? I think Daiki's idea of fun has been Corrupted…

After Hou Ling calmed down, he turned to Yi Bing. "Where's the remaining corpse in the first floor located?" he asked.
"106." Yi Bing answered.
Hou Ling nodded. He looked at the pitiful child's corpse. "His soul also is gone?" he asked.
"Yes." Yi Bing closed the compartment and stood up. He looked at the child's stepfather who was drinking beer and laughed loudly when the comedian on the television joked. His eyes narrowed as his fingers raised and the faucet opened. "Let's go." He told Hou Ling.
Hou Ling wiped his tears. "How will you go out?" he asked.
As an answer, Yi Bing picked up a walnut on the kitchen counter, then flicked it towards the window. The jalousie instantly broke and the walnut flew out of the window.
"Who the fucker - ?!" the man cursed and he immediately marched towards the door. He opened the door and walked out.
Yi Bing immediately went out of the door and kicked the back of the man's knee. The man cried in pain and he weakly fell on his knees. Hou Ling who went out laughed and gave Yi Bing a thumb's up. "GJ!" he said.
Yi Bing just smiled and walked towards the 105 in the middle of the bottom of the U in this U – shaped apartment building. "The child's mother must have only her child in her mind." He suddenly spoke.
"Why?" Hou Ling asked.
"After all – " Yi Bing turned to Hou Ling. " – the mother can undergo in Mania when she was a soul and turn to an evil ghost. That way, she can kill her husband. However, she didn't." he said. "She must be worried for her child who will be alone in the afterlife." He explained.
Hou Ling nodded. "That must be it." He said. "However, you said their soul was gone. Are their names also not on the Death Note?" he asked.
"Yes." Yi Bing sighed and looked at the blank Death Note.
"Say, Yi Bing." Hou Ling called and stopped.
"What?"
Hou Ling looked at Yi Bing. "Can the souls eaten by the Soul Eater still reincarnate?" he asked.
Yi Bing also stopped. "There's a possibility." He answered.
Hou Ling sighed in relief. "That's great, then!" he said. A smile formed on his face and he went first to 105. He didn't see that Yi Bing's expression cooled.
Yi Bing closed the Death Note. "There's a possibility, but in order for them to reincarnate – " he said and looked at the falling rain. " – they can never be a human again." He muttered. The soul a Soul Eater ate is already damaged. However, to what extent, it depends on the soul's strength. If a soul was badly damaged, then they might disappear and their cycle ends there.
Yi Bing exhaled, a cold smoke come out of his mouth. He turned and followed Hou Ling, unaware of the beast on the back of the apartment building, eating another soul from 909. On its skin that's a lump of meat are the faces of the souls it ate. It has no eyes, only nose, ears and a mouth, on its jaws are a row of long and sharp teeth.
Afterlife Department.
"A Soul Eater?!" San Di exclaimed after Gu Shi spoke.
"Haven't the archangels killed them all 50,000 years ago?" Feng Er asked.
"How many souls could a Soul Eater eat, for it to have its own form?" Si Shui said, his brows knit.
"A Soul Eater should at least eat 1,000 souls, digest them for 1,000 years, then wait for another 1,000 years to have their infant form." Gu Shi explained.
"So this Soul Eater should be 1,000 years old?" Si Shui asked.
"Not necessarily." San Di spoke. "Their age depends on their size. 1,000 years for an infant form. In human age, they are just a day or a month old. Can you imagine it?" he asked.
"1,000 years for soul digestion, and 1,000 years for its physical form, 2000 years is the least time they have to wait. And they are at their weakest." Gu Shi said. "If a Soul Eater would appear the size of an average human…"
"They must be at least 20,000 years old." Feng Er said. "The reason why they have to wait for a long time is because of the quality of the soul they ate." She said. "One soul, if an infant, it would take at least 100 years for them to digest. If they ate an old soul, it would take at least 1000 years." She raised her head. "The longer the lifespan of the soul they ate, the longer for a Soul Eater to digest the soul." She analyzed.
Gu Shi nodded. "Yes." he sighed. "It is because of the memories." He looked at the interns in the Afterlife Department. They are the souls who weren't willing to reincarnate and chose to work with them. "Even just a moment of joy for a human, but that memory is worth at least 200 years." He said.
"Why is that?" someone asked.
"Is it like bidding?" someone spoke and rose from his seat. "It depends on the value of the memory?" he asked.
Gu Shi nodded. "Yes." he answered. "If the humans value the objects, we – as well the Soul Eaters, value souls and their memories." He said. "The more precious the memory, the more value it has."
"How does a memory valued?"
"There's what we call Memory Energy." San Di spoke. "The happier or sadder a memory is, the greater the energy it would have." He explained. "The Memory Energy, in a simpler term – " he smiled. " – it's what we call 'emotions'." He told them.
"It's what these emotions the Soul Eaters feed on the souls they ate." Feng Er said.
Si Shui nodded. "The greater the emotions in those souls, the greater the power the Soul Eaters will have." He said, then paused. "Of course, the longer they have to wait to digest those souls, and the longer they will take form." He shrugged.
"So, the older the Soul Eater, the stronger it is?" someone from the interns asked.
"That's how it always is." Gu Shi nodded. "So, if you found a Soul Eater – " he took a deep breath. " – you have to run." He said.

"So, a Soul Eater emits Foul?" Hou Ling said after he listened to Yi Bing's explanation about the Soul Eaters.
"Yes, and no." Yi Bing answered. "Soul Eaters emits Foul, but when there's a Foul, that doesn't necessarily mean a Soul Eater is around." He explained.
Hou Ling nodded. They just finished inspecting the corpses from the first six floors. Currently, they are on the sixth floor. As they guessed, the corpses they found didn't have a soul in them. "How old do you think the Soul Eater present here?" he asked Yi Bing.
"In human age, they must be at least 2 years old." Yi Bing answered.
Hou Ling was surprised. "That young?" he said.
Yi Bing looked at him. "Its actual age should be around 5,000 years old or more." He told him. "A 5-year old human age Soul Eater can consume an entire town-worth of souls." He added.
Hou Ling shut up. "Soul Eaters should be rare?" he muttered.
"It depends on the speed they cultivate." Yi Bing said, referring to the Soul Eaters digesting the souls.
In the apartment building, at least 20 souls the 2-years old Soul Eater ate, including Fu Ling's soul they found. The reason why Fu Ling's soul cannot leave her body must be due to the Soul Eater. "Can they mark a soul?" Hou Ling asked after he told Yi Bing his guess.
Yi Bing nodded and gave him a commendable look. "Yes." he answered.
Hou Ling felt like he was praised by his high school teacher. He smiled. "How will you kill the Soul Eater?" he asked. "It should be easy, right, since it's just 2 years old – " he said.
Yi Bing cut him off. "Idiot." He said and stopped. "Look at the '2 years old' you're talking about." He said and turned his 'head'.
Hou Ling's gaze followed and his eyes widened in shock when he saw a lump of meat taller than Yi Bing. "No way…" he muttered under his breath as he looked at the red monster standing at the end of the hallway. Its back that sometimes shows different human faces is facing them. "How can this be – "
"A 2 years old?" Yi Bing said, his voice lowered so that the pointed ears of the meat monster wouldn't hear them.

Another arrow flew from my bow, embedding itself straight into the forehead of some shadow monster. The name appeared above them. A [Black Shadow Wolf], one of the monsters from the rifts. I knelt down to absorb the materials.
Their death came quick, as they are weak, but Wolf...
I looked to the left of me.
"Grrrhhh..."
Wolf was shaking a [Dark Condor], one of the many wave monters, back and forth, trying to rip it apart. When he teared its head off, black blood came from the wound. Wolf still licked his lips, and starting eating it with gusto.
The monsters all have one thing in common from what I noticed. They are dark and shadow type monsters.
Which does not matter. Although a few big ones did come by, they still pose no problem, and are easily killable.
I nocked another arrow into my bow.
Our hunt continues.
...
The wave has not ended yet, and it has been an hour. It wasn't a problem for us, as spirits never really get tired, but humans on the other hand...
"Kindred!"
Naofumi came up to me, riding on the back of Filo in her filolial queen form, with Raphtalia sitting right behind him.
"Do you know why the others haven't finished the Boss yet?
I shrugged. Although I knew from the novels they can't figure out a way to get the boss to come out, it shouldn't really matter. It doesn't excuse the fact that they're heroes.
"Alright, let's check on them.
I turned to Wolf.
"Shall we, dear Wolf?"
Wolf smirked, his teeth showing.
"Race you there!"
We ran off towards the ship in the distance, with Naofumi and his party following behind us.
...
As we ran closer to the ship, I had a chance for a more detailed inspection of the ghost ship.
Lightning and mist seems to appear around it, the wooden ship just seem to float, filled with holes. As expected, the masts were barely hanging on, and the sails were tattered.
Getting closer, the ship seemed to have a mind of its own, because a hole opened from its side, showing a cannon.
It fired a cannonball at us, and I jumped away. Naofumi just blocked it his skill.
"Air Strike Shield!"
The cannonball was unable to break the spell, and Filo jumped up into the air to kick it away.
"Hiiya!"
Filo fell to the ground, and jumped once more, landing on the Air Strike Shield spell still intact, and jumped again, leanding on top of the ship.
I followed them moments later, leaping onto the first spell that was about to dissolve, and with it as a foothold, jumped higher into the air to reach the ship. Wolf flew besides me.
...
We landed on the ship, immediately trying to analyze the situation-
Ren was fighting a skeleton in a captain pirate outfit, and Motoyasu was attacking tentacles coming out from the ship...
The rest of the parties were trying to block off the other monsters from interrupting the heroes fighting.
Of course they weren't even doing anything against the real boss, who was hidden in the shadows of the puppets its controlling.
Naofumi also figured it out seconds later, telling Raphtalia to use her magic to bring it out.
She whispered a spell, and a ball of light appeared, illuminating the entire deck. In the shadows of the skeleton captain and the octopus, as well as in several places around the ship...red eyes and a grin appeared.
[Soul Eaters]
The name appeared above them.
"There!" Naofumi shouted.
The others noticed, and attempted to attack the ghosts as they all seem to fly into a growing mass of Soul Eaters. Even if they took a few out, it was meaningless. There were too many to kill.
Gathering, they formed into a giant Soul Eater version. It smiled at us with its red eyes, its fangs showing as it grinned at us.
[Inter-dimensional Soul Eater]
"Wolf."
"There you are." He grinned, marking the creature hiding.
A 𝗠𝗮𝗿𝗸 appeared above it, causing the heroes and the Soul Eater itself to look up in confusion. A mistake on its part.
Wolf immediately flew onto the creature, biting it.
The Soul Eater screeched in pain, creating a hand, and...smacked Wolf away. Hard. Wolf yelped in surprise, flying back into the air.
My eyes twitched as I saw Wolf fly off into the distance, and the hero parties that were just about to argue with each other, stared in shock.
Wolf stopped flying back, but didn't charge in right after. He instead stayed in the air, processing what had just happened to him.
After a few seconds to realize what had just happened, he howled in rage, immediately throwing himself back at the monster.
That snapped us out of our shock, and we began attacking it.
Apparently the Soul Eater has deemed Wolf as a threat, as it began to shoot dark magic orbs from its mouth at him, targeting him. Wolf dodged each and every one.
When we started attacking it, even with magic and empowered skills, it barely even damaged it. Why?
I kept thinking at the back, firing arrows one after another as the others futiley tried to damage the Wave Boss...except for Wolf.
Wolf was the exception as hee was dealing the majority of the damage dealt to it compared to the rest of us.
Soul Eaters are spirit type monsters, and therefore can only be truly damaged through skills that can hurt the soul. Such as curses.
Curses strong enough that can pierce into a creature's very being.
Perhaps Wolf was able to damage and anger  it, as he is a type of spirit as well.
I, even as powerful as I am now, unfortunately do not have the means to damage a creature such as this one for the moment. Perhaps after I absorb the materials from its corpse...
And so it had to die first.
And the only one who I know can truly damage the Soul Eater is...
"Naofumi." I called out softly, getting his attention.
"What is it?" He grumbled, attempting to block one of its stray black magic orb attacks. He did block it, but instead of f fizzling out, it exploded in a wide radius, blowing almost everyone around him back except for himself and Raphtalia. She moved quickly behind hm before the orb landed.
It wasn't even focusing on him, only paying attention to Wolf, who was still biting into it.
"You have to use 'that' shield. It's the only way to damage him!"
"What shield!" Motoyasu shouted, using another skill. Ren was a but further away, trying to cut through the boss with his sword. They both did barely anything.
Naofumi gritted his teeth, with Raphtalia staring by his side, worried. She was using light magic over and over to keep the Soul Eater from hiding again.
After watching it deal a lot of damage around him, he seemed to finally make his decision.
"Raphtalia...help me."
She gave him a look of concern, but nodded her head anyways.
"I am your sword, and I'll follow you wherever you go...even to the pits of hell."
Naofumi nodded at her words.
"Alright, I'm going to do it, back away from me."
Watching them, my eyes twitched unconsciously underneat my mask.
Even if this is reality now, this is still based on a japanese light novel. Of course there will be moments where-
"!"
I abruptly leaped to the side, sending two arrows at the Soul Eater as a stray black magic orb flew past me within a finger width. It wasn't even targeting me at all.
Imbued by the passive [Cursed Arrow], the arrows landed on the Wave Boss, damaging the Soul Eater a little more than my basic attacks.
I shook my head, slightly frustrated. It is still not enough. After this Wave, I must find new hunting grounds. It is about time to begin on a new journey.
As thoughts of pondering new ways to get stronger kept brewing in my mind, I heard a shout.
"Shield of Rage!"
Turning to the voice, I saw Naofumi's shield came into being, its black and red menacing form appearing...only it was different from the last.
Parts of his armor also transformed, transforming into a black dragon pattern, with glimpses of red here and there. At the center of his shield, a giant blood red dragon appeared.
It seemed he had an upgrade. Probably because of that dragon core he absorbed into the shield, and the core used to upgrade his armor.
"AHHHHHHHHHHHH!"
And it seemed he was losing control, because he screamed in rage, the wind fiercely blowing around him.
The Soul Eater, who was duking it out with Wolf, turned to look at him in confusion...only for Filo to attack it in a rage.
"?!"
Filo, covered in dark flames, madly kicked it. It actually seemed to damage the monster a little more, because it was knocked back, even if it was only just a small distance. However, after knocking it back, she ran off and started to attack some random monster on the ship, which were still attacking the party members of the heroes.
Seemed like she has also lost control of her emotions, most likely due to the dragon core she had eaten, and in which case...
I looked down at my bow, but nothing seems to have change.
Curious. Perhaps the consuming rage doesn't effect me.
"Mr. Naofumi?"
Raphtalia touched his shoulder, concerned. That seem to have managed to calm him down, because he shook his head, and ran at the Inter-dimensional Soul Eater, already preoccupied with Wolf, who was still biting and gnawing at it.
He's just a floating Wolf head after all.
As the shield touched it, the black cursed flames appeared, stronger than before, engulfed the side where the shield was touching, burning it.
"SCREEEEE!"
It screamed in pain, but that was it. It didn't damage it much at all.
I pulled my bowstring to the maximum limit, making it stretched taut, and released it. Another arrow landed on its forehead seconds later, making it scream once more.. It went on a rampage, shooting even more black magic orbs here and there.
Even though my attack still did more damage than the rest of the heroes, it is not enough.
He'll need to use the skill.
And he did.
He began to whisper an aria of a skill, and all of a sudden, the air turned freezing cold on the ship.
Everyone and everything on the ship seemed to freeze in surprise and fear, the hero parties and the monsters. The Soul Eater especially, with Wolf letting go before the beginning of the spell hit it.
"Shield Prison!"
A prison of shields surrounded the Soul Eater. It seemed to have seemed to have felt the danger of the something spell, because it started trying to tackle the prison, shaking it.
The prison seemed rather weak, because it started showing cracks after a few seconds, with holes appearing here and there.
If it kept this up, within a few seconds it'll break out, cancelling the skill Naofumi was using.
"Prey such as you dare try to escape?"
With the bow already readied, I used the skill [Piercing Horn Arrow]. Taking away 20 MP, the skill appeared, already notched in my bow. I pulled it back, and aimed-
*Twang*
I released the string, and the skill flew into the air, spinning with a blue glow straight through one of the small holes of the shield prison.
The prison stopped moving, before shaking again.
As expected, althought it did more damage than my curse imbued basic attacks, it still did not do as much damage as I would have liked. It only halted it for a moment.
A moment was enough.
"[Iron Maiden]!"
The fighting on the ship paused abruptly as a gray statue of what appears to be a hooded woman appeared in the air. The main body of the statue opened, and inside appeared to be many spikes. Several chains from within darkness of the cage, wrapping around the shield prison the Soul Eater was in.
"SCREEEEEEEE!"
It started struggling even harder as the chains slowly dragged the shaking prison. It tried to break free, but it was too late, as the chains secured the prison. It hopelessly struggled as the entire prison was pulled within the confines of the cage.
As soon as it was dragged in, the cage slowly closed, and after a few seconds, what seems to be blood gushed out of the cage.
Naofumi keeled over huffing, his shield changing back to its normal form, but Raptalia managed to shoulder his weight. As soon as it changed back, Filo's rampaging stopped, and she looked confused. Still though, they all stared at the cage in the sky with the other heroes and their parties.
As the [Iron Maiden] disintegrated in starlight, to most of everyone's surprise and horror as something dropped from the sky. The Soul Eater was riddled with holes, blood leaking out from its pores.
How it has blood, I don't know, but it was still alive, weakly struggling and crying. Alive for us to take its life away.
As everyone stared at it astonished, as the rest of the monsters slowly disintegrating away, as Wolf already by my side, was preparing to pounce on it, I raised my bow. With my bow in hand, arrow notched once more, I aimed and released the bowstring. The movements made in a matter of seconds.
The arrow soared through the air, aiming for the eye...
Only for it to be deterred by a wave of light, which then cleaved the boss in half, rendering it dead.
Dead not by our hands.
Not by us.

[Naofumi] POV
I can only watched surprised as the arrow Lamb shot was blocked by a wave of light, which came from the air...
Another wave of light blew over me, heading towards the two heroes and their party members, who were still stunned. As the light approached them, they reacted quickly, attempting to block or dodge it. It was not enough, as they were blown back.
They were quite lucky because the monsters on the ship seem to disintegrate away after the Soul Eater was killed, which was seconds ago.
I glanced behind me, checking to see if everyone was alright.
Everyone hit by the skill were laying on the ground, looking to be unconcious.
Kindred meanwhile seemed fine. Both Lamb and Wolf were a bit farther away, watching. But...they were unnaturally still, intently staring at the now dead Boss. I didn't have time to pay attention to their unusual behavior, however, because I felt a presence approaching me from above.
I looked up, only to be shocked as a woman with long jet black hair in a deep black kimono embroidered with silver descending from the sky. The woman was holding two fan-like weapons in each hand-it seemed that was the source of the skill.
With an unearthly beauty on her pale face, she smiled slightly, looking down on us. She looked like Japanese person, only with a more ghost like feeling emmanating from her. As she floated down until she was just a couple centimeters away from the floor, but still she remained floating.
After we stared at each other for a couple seconds, she decided to speak first.
"It seems there is only one true hero amongst the four of you. The other's seem to be unable to do at least something in the fight, but you...you are different," she spoke softly.
"I guess..." I warily watched the woman, while at the same time tapping on Raphtalia's back to warn her. She was staring at the woman the whole time, but as soon as I tapped her back did she give a twitch of her ears.
Filo meanwhile started slowly approaching us from the back, also staring at the woman warily.
The woman didn't bother to pay attention to the interaction or Filo, still observing me.
"What is your name, hero?"
"You ask for my name without giving yours?"
"My apologies. My name is Glass, and if it wasn't obvious already, it wouldn't be incorrect to assume that I am your enemy." 
She closed her fans and bowed slightly, looking a little apologetic.
Who wouldn't? I needed to stall a little bit longer, to regenerate my HP and MP. With how she easily dealt with the heroes and finishing the boss, the probability of her being stronger than us is quite high, especially as we're tired from the fight. We need as many advantages as we get before we start our inevitable fight.
I sighed, giving my name to her.
"It's Naofumi."
Glass smiled once more, opening her fans. I got off from Raphtalia's shoulder and went into a stance. Raphtalia and Filo followed suit, both positioning themselves behind me.
"Well then Naofumi, it's time to-"
All of a sudden, a cold feeling emerged from behind me, and I barely had time to process what it was before I heard a soft, empty whisper.
"That was meant to be ours."
I barely turned my head around as a sudden rush of wind blew past me.
"Wha-!" Glass widened her eyes, trying to raise her weapon to block whatever was coming, but it was too late as a white shadow tackled the woman off the ship.
Before I was able to process once more what the hell was happening, another rush of wind blew past me as Lamb jumped off the ship after them seconds later.
"Hey wait-god dammit! Filo! Raphtalia! Let's go!"

Life continues to move forward, and it seems to be meaningless as time goes on. Games were what sustained my existence, games like League of Legends. Then...I'm pretty sure I died, because I woke up...as a girl?! And next to a white floating wolf?! What is going on?

Drake was having a hard time in this duel, he felt frustrated as move after move of his was countered or rendered pointless. He had even lost all of his Blue-Eyes White Dragons to a trap he had never heard of before. 

Finally he felt that he had managed to turn things around as he had cleared Hopkirks side of the field, leaving him only the Seal of Orichalcos. But it had come at the cost of his Blue-Eyes Starlight Dragon. He held an advantage with his <Dragon Spirit of White> and his set <Tyrant Wing> trap but he still had a bad feeling.

[Dragon Spirit of White – Lv8 ATK:2500/DEF:2000]

It was Hopkirks turn.

[Turn 7 – Hopkirk LP:2300 Hand:0, Drake LP:1600 Hand:2]

"I draw! Then I play <Pot of Greed> to draw two more cards. Next I activate <Level Limit - Area B>, this continuous spell card forces all monster level 4 or high into defence mode. I set a monster face down and end my turn."

First Gravity Bind, now Level Limit - Area B? Even after getting rid of Drakes Blue-Eyes this guy was obviously doing his best to lock down the rest of Drakes high level monsters. He wouldn't be surprised if there was a Dragon Capture Jar hiding in that deck somewhere.

"Draw."

If he still had his Xyz monster then that Level Limit Area wouldn't be so much of a problem. Xyz monster had no levels after all. Wait… he no longer had his Starlight Dragon, but he still had some Xyz monsters, the ones he had been collecting. Time to bring out a Number.

"I play <Heliosphere Dragon>."

[Heliosphere Dragon – Lv4 ATK:0/DEF:1900]

"With my Heliosphere Dragons effect, once per turn so long as I control a level 8 dragon I can change this cards level to level 8."

"And now I overlay my two monsters, to XYZ summon <Number 97: Draglubion>!"

It was the dark dragon counterpart to the Mythyrian Number, Number 46: Dragluon and it was the first Number Drake had obtained in this world. Drake just wished he had the cards need to make use of its ability, but he didn't. It was his only dragon type Number, its 3000 ATK would have to be enough.

"I now attack your face down. Go Number 97, Infernal Fire Attack!"

"Ha, you just attacked my <Cyber Jar>!"

[Cyber Jar – Lv3 ATK:900 > 1400/ DEF:900]

"What!?" Drake was really getting frustrated. 

All his strongest monsters were being countered or destroyed before they had a chance to do any real damage. And what was a rock monster like that doing in a self-proclaimed insect master's deck anyway.

"Thanks to Cyber jars effect when its flipped face up it destroys all monsters on the field, we then each draw and reveal five cards. Any level 4 or lower monsters we draw are then summoned to the field and the others are added to our hands."

*Whoossshh*

Like a vacuum the cyber jar sucked up Drakes Number before it exploded.

*Bang!*

Drake drew his cards and showed them. <White Stone of Legend>, <White Stone of Ancients>, <Spear Dragon>, <Blue-Eyes Alternative White Dragon> and <Rage with Eyes of Blue>. While Hopkirk did the same, he drew <Man-Eater Bug>, <Pinch Hopper>, <Book of Moon>, <Cocoon of Ultra Evolution> and <Insect Armor with Laser Cannon>.

Cards summoned by Cyber Jars effect could be played either in attack mode or face down defence, so Drake set his White Stone of Legend and summoned White Stone of Ancients and spear dragon face up. Of course the effect of Hopkirks Level Limit – Area B forced his Spear Dragon into defence.

[White Stone of Ancients – Lv1 ATK:600/DEF:500, Spear Dragon – Lv4 ATK:1900/DEF:0]

Meanwhile Hopkirk set both his Man-Eater Bug and Pinch Hopper face down.

"Why bother summoning that stone in attack mode? It can't even beat my Man-Eaters DEF." asked Hopkirk as he saw Drakes play.

"And you say you've studied by deck, don't you know my White Stones have another use?"

"Huh?"

"Gather now oh stars of life, illuminate the path to the future on the road of rebirth, with the Lv1 tuner monster <White Stone of Ancients> and my Lv4 <Spear Dragon>, I Synchro Summon level 5 <Samsara, Dragon of Rebirth>!"

Drakes two monsters transformed into five glittering stars that circled to form into a white ring, from out of this ring flew Drakes Synchro Monster.

Drake naturally summoned his monster in defence.

"You can Synchro summon too? You've never used a card like that before." Hopkirk complained. Fusion, Xyz, Synchro and ritual, was there any summoning method he couldn't do? 

"I never need to before. I end my turn. Then my White Stone of Ancients effect activates, so I can special summon a 'Blue-Eyes' from my deck. This allows me to summon a second <Dragon Spirit of White> from my deck as its effect lets me treat it as a 'Blue-Eyes' monster." 

[Dragon Spirit of White – Lv8 ATK:2500/DEF:2000]

"Although your magic card forces it into defence mode, my dragons ability will now banish your Level Limit – Area B from the game."

[Turn 9 – Hopkirk LP:2300 Hand:3, Drake LP:1600 Hand:4]

"I draw. I flip summon my <Man-Eater Bug> to activate its effect, allowing me to destroy one monster you control. Say goodbye to your Samsara Dragon."

[Man-Eater Bug – Lv2 ATK:450 > 950, DEF:600]

"When my Samsara, Dragon of Rebirth is destroyed I can special summon a monster from either of our graveyards, so return to me <Blue-Eyes Starlight Dragon>!"

[Blue-Eyes Starlight Dragon – Rank 8 ATK:3000/DEF:2500 OU:0]

"Tch, next I will equip my Pinch Hopper with the spell <Insect Armor with Laser Cannon> giving it an additional 700 ATK.

[Pinch Hopper - ATK:1500 > 2200]

"Now my Pinch Hopper, destroy Drakes face down White Stone of Legend!"

[PH ATK:2200 > WSoL DEF:250]

"Then from my hand I play the quick spell <Cocoon of Ultra Evolution> by tributing my Pinch Hopper that's equipped with a equip spell I can special summon an Insect from my deck ignoring its summoning conditions. Come forth! <Brain Crusher>!"

[Brain Crusher – Lv7 ATK:2400 > 2900/DEF:1500]

"Then I will have my new monster attack your Dragon Spirit of White!"

[BC ATK:2900 > DSoW DEF:2000]

"Now I play my spell <Book of Moon> to flip my Man-Eater monster face down and end my turn, at which point my Brain crushers effect activates and revives the monster it just destroyed to my side of the field. You should know your own dragons effect right? Dragon Spirit of White will then banish your face down <Tyrant Wing>."

[Turn 10 – Drake LP:1600 Hand:4, Hopkirk LP:2300 Hand:1]

"I draw. I set a card face down and have Blue-Eyes Starlight Dragon attack your Brain Crusher. Starlightning!"

"I end my turn."

Drake hated this kind of duel, it wasn't a question of two styles facing off against each other in a contest of strength and skill, it was just suppression, this guy was playing with the goal of preventing Drake from playing. 

How was he going to…?!

Drake suddenly felt a shift in the deepest part of his mindscape, the presence of an ancient will and mighty power that had finally awakened. Critias…

{Took you long enough} Drake projected with his thoughts.

{What's the problem? Trouble?} came the nonchalant reply.

{You overgrown lizard! Last time you were still injured and I had to practically force you to rest. Now you're better and I actually need you, but are now only just waking up!}

{Weren't you the one who said to leave everything to you? To trust you.} Critias asked with dry humour.

{I..I.. Fine. But I need you now, please lend me you power.}

{All you had to do was ask my Chosen duellist.}

Drake felt new energy being poured into his deck. 

[Turn 11 – Hopkirk LP:2200 Hand:1, Drake LP:1600 Hand:4]

"I draw. Now-"

"I activate my face down, the quick play spell <Quick Draw>, we both discard two cards and then draw two more." Drake said. 

He had to get the timing of this card right because it could only be activated if both duellists had at least two cards in hand. 
Drake quickly tossed the Polymerization and Rage with Eyes of Blue in his hand for what he hoped would be more useful cards. He was so pre-occupied with his thoughts of the duel and of Critias that he didn't notice Hopkirks own actions. 

As he drew his two new cards Hopkirk preformed an excellent bit of slight-of-hand worthy of a magician, swapping one of the cards he just drew with another he had hidden up he sleeve. 
Even before this he had been a cheat and knew all the tricks. So now that the opportunity for power and the risk to his soul were at hand, he wouldn't stop now.

All that mattered was winning.

"Then I flip summon my <Man-Eater Bug> and destroy your Starlight Dragon."

[Man-Eater Bug – Lv2 ATK:450 > 950, DEF:600]

"Now I attack you directly with Man-Eater Bug." Hopkirk wanted Drake to suffer more before he finished it.

[MEB: ATK:950 - Drake LP > 650]

"Now be destroyed by your own dragon, Dragon Spirit of White attacks you directly."

"Not so fast! I activate the effect of my <Blue-Eyes Kuriboh> in my grave. When I control no monsters I can banish a dragon type monster from my hand to special summon it, its level then becomes equal to the banished monsters level until the end of turn. So I banish my <Blue-Eyes Alternative White Dragon> to summon it in defence mode."

"Fine, so I will destroy your furball then."

[DSoW ATK:3000 > BEK DEF:200]

"Because my Kuriboh was summoned with its special ability, when it leaves the field it is banished." Drake declared.

"So what, like I care about that thing. I sacrifice my Man-Eater to set a monster facedown, I set another card and end my turn."

[Turn 12 – Drake LP:1600 Hand:3, Hopkirk LP:2200 Hand:0]

"This duel has lasted long enough. I draw."

Here it was, the card he had been waiting for. 

"Awakened from his slumber, the Legendary Dragon rises once more. I play the <Fang of Critias>."

*ROAR!*

With an indomitable spirit Critias took his first steps on this new world and unleashed an earth-shaking roar!

"What kind of card is that?!" Hopkirk asked in confusion, it wasn't a monster card, a magic card or anything else he knew of.

"Behold, the Legendary Dragon Critias! Now my dragon will now absorb the power of the <Dragons Rage> trap card in my hand, fusing with it to create a never before seen beast. The <Raging Dragon>.

[Raging Dragon – Lv4 ATK:1900/DEF:0]

Drakes new dragon took to the field, it body was shaped much like a Luster Dragon yet it seemed sculpted of magma. Its cooling outer shell was like a cracked black crust through which burning reds glowed.   

"So what if you have a new dragon, so what if it can absorb trap cards. I have my own my trap. Go <Dragon Capture Jar>, this continuous trap forces all dragons to switch to defence mode. Meaning you can't attack. And next turn no matter how powerful a monster you summon, I can destroy it with my Nobleman-Eaters effect."

Hopkirk rejoiced as Drakes Raging Dragon was forced into defence under the power of his trump card even as the dragon he control was also forced into defence. He really had chosen the right time to bring out the Capture Jar he had hidden on himself. He was close to victory, he could feel it. But Drake was not worried at all.

"There is no next turn for you, from my hand I play <Stamping Destruction> if I control a dragon type monster I can destroy a spell or trap card, its controller then takes 500 damage. So say farewell to your jar."

*BOOM*

[Hopkirk LP > 1700]

Hopkirks Dragon Capture Jar was crushed under a giant dragons foot.

"Finally I activate <Dragons Mirror>! I banish from my graveyard, White Stone of Legend, White Stone of Ancients, Dragon Spirit of White, Blue-Eyes Chaos MAX Dragon and Nebula Dragon. With these five dragons I Fusion Summon the great <Five-Headed Dragon>!"

[Five-Headed Dragon – Lv12 ATK:5000/DEF:5000]

"When did you have a monster like that?!" Hopkirk was shocked.

5000 ATK?! That was the highest base attack possible in duel monsters, you could count the number of other monster with such strength with just your hands. 

"I've always had it. However I honestly wish I never have to use it, compared to the majesty of my Blue-Eyes this monster is just so… ugly."

"What?"

"Look at those five completely different and conflicting styles of heads stuck on that massive body, its crude and ugly in spite of its strength."

"What kind of reason is that?"

"It's my reason, but since you forced me to this state, you're going to have to take responsibility. Feel the burn! Go Five-Headed Dragon, finish this duel with Elemental Flames!"

"You really have gone crazy, my monster are in defence mode, you can't touch my life points." Hopkirk was gleeful, next turn he would just have to 'draw' what he wanted and he would control the duel again.

"Your forgetting my Raging Dragon. It has inherited the power of the trap card used to summon it, Dragons Rage. While this dragon is on the field all my dragons can deal penetrating damage. And since your Dragon Spirit only has a 2000 DEF and my Five-Head Dragon has 5000 ATK, that means you suffer 3000 damage."

"This…this can't be!"

Streams of roaring flames, crackling lightning, surging water, corroding winds and black destruction energy blasted out from the five heads of Drakes monster. The overwhelming power cut through the dragon like it was tissue paper before rolling into Hopkirk like a tide wave.

"Nooo!! Please no!" Hopkirk screamed as the Seal closed in on him.

Drake intended to let the Seal do its work to teach the bug a lesson for all the trouble he had caused, then afterwards he would free his soul. He felt that Hopkirk would be more likely to answer Drakes questions honestly then. But as he watched the Seal Drake realised something was wrong, it was different from the last Seal. He could feel it with his enhanced senses.

Unlike the last one Chapman had used, which stored the soul within the card itself, this one seemed to reaching out across space to some other unknown place, creating a bridge. It wasn't going to just seal the soul but transmit it somewhere else!

For a moment Drake really wanted to just let Hopkirk reap the trouble he had sown, but Drake had made a promise to Yuma and Drake was a man of his word. Although at times like this he wished he wasn't.

Drake sprinted over, he would only a few more seconds before it was too late. His duel disk glowed a bright purple light as it morphed into the form of sword with a jewelled hilt, and Drake thrust it into the Seal. Green and purple lightning erupted at the point of contact as a high pitch whine screeched out. It was as if Drake had stuck a piece of metal into the moving parts of a complicated machine, the bridge he sensed began to falter.

But it was not so simple. The Seal was faltering, but it had not yet broken.

As Drake tried to force the blade through the light of the ring of runes, an even greater power was trying to force him back. If Drake couldn't penetrate the ring, then Hopkirks soul would be sent who knows where.

Drake pushed with all his strength, but he could only hold his ground.

He had no choice.

{Critias!} Drake projected a cry for help to the legendary dragon.

In response a stream of power began to flow into Drake.

"Sword of Wisdom!" He cried.

His Dragon Eye lit up as it fired a small beam of energy into the yellow jewelled hilt, a card flew out of Drakes deck inside the storage dimension before appearing parallel to the blade. It was the card <Dragons Rage>. It suddenly shattered into countless motes of light and infused itself into Drakes blade.

No, not Drakes blade. Critias's. 

Because this was the sword of the Legendary Knight Critias. The Sword of Wisdom, Drakes final trump card.

With it he absorbed the extreme penetrating power of his trap card and…

*CRACK*

Like a sheet of glass, the Seal of Orichalcos shattered to pieces as Drake pushed the Sword of Wisdom through before it faded away to nothing. And Hopkirk collapsed to the ground as Drake stumbled forwards.

He had done it. He had saved the fools soul.

It had better be worth it.

The Legendary Dragons and the Pharaoh have defeated the Great Leviathan, they have won the battle against the Orichalcos. But the war goes on. Join Drake, a new Duellist chosen by the Dragons as they continue the fight across dimensions in a new world with allies both familiar and strange. 

The Dragons rise so that the Orichalcos will fall.
