one day Mar name boy was called by his friend because his uncle sent his a gift. 
and that gift was lamp bit lamp turn out to be magical lamp and a genie came out and gave Mar friend 3 wish.

A man is currently walking down the streets of Neon City a bright city with dark deals the streets are filled with lights from the many signs of the store reading "Air Bods" and "The Lone Bar" the side walks under the man are covered in litter from a local ramen stand the man walking down the street is called Jason Rain dressed in a open jacket colored dark green with a yellow branded t-shirt reading "Uranium", a company know for making the current phones, wearing a black jeans and a dark blue beanie holding a electronic e-paper that was advertising a new job opening for the "National News" which was the local news station.

Jason walked past a "Bree's Fashion" store and into a building with a sign saying National News "Here goes nothing" mumbles a Jason as he enters the building. Inside the building was a reception desk with two long chairs on each side to wait on, currently manning the desk was a android typing into it computer at lightning speed. Jason slowly walked up to the android and said "H-Hello?" the android slowed down its typing and looked up at Jason "What do you need?" the android replied in a monotone female voice "Uhm i'm here for the job opening" Jason nervously replied "Please enter the door to your left and go to the recording studio, the signs will lead you there." the android responded seemingly bored. "Thank you" thanked Jason as he rushed to the door and down the hallway.

In the hallway was filled with awards for the most viewed channel and with company photos but what Jason found strange was that in every photo there was a robot but with a tv with a face for a head he thought nothing about it and headed to the recording studio.

In front of the door to the recording studio was Jason preparing himself for his interview and when you got his thoughts together he then entered the room to see the set of the table the hosts sit with many cameras from many different angles around the table and a separate table with no cameras around it but instead was two people a human and the robot with a tv head. 

The robot with the tv head noticed Jason first shouting out " Look boss another meat sack!"
changing its face to the expression :D "Yes it looks like we need to stay here longer" the man grumbled looking towards Jason "Hello! I am Media-Bot! and this beautiful man right here Is Daniel!" Media bot shouted excited "Please do not just give out my name to every Media-Bot." Daniel glared a Media-Bot "Heh heh, Anyways please sit down on the chair and introduce yourself!" Media-Bot told Jason. Jason walked up to the chair and sat down "Uh... Hi i'm Jason Rain and I..." Media-Bot then interrupted Jason and said "Hurry up man I rusting over here" Daniel then smacked Media-Bot and angrily "Let him continue Media." and after all that chaos Media-Bot didn't interrupted and the interview went normally.

Later when the interview was complete Jason headed to the apartment. It was slightly run down with trash around the entrance Jason entered his apartment, Room 132, The room had a mini kitchen and a living room with a couch and a Tv and in another room was a bedroom with a counter with a lamp, alarm clock and a note, Jason ignored it for he was tired and it was getting late so he immediately crawled into his bed sheets and slowly dozed off eventually falling asleep thinking
    
                    "I hope I got the job."

There are much chaos in Neon City (really unoriginal) that many don’t know really what’s happening half of the time so its the media’s job to record and tell you all of the stories of whats happening in the city.

many think its a easy job to do this but Its possibility the hardest job out there.

 The media going out in the middle of important events that are happening in the city that includes shoot outs with the Syndicates and The Watch 

The Syndicates are a group of criminals under a god father with a currently unknown name

and The Watch is the police force of the city.

What will our main character do?

Mitchnew and Ruth weren't too surprised to find that both master and student returned soaked to the bone. The dark elf prepared dry clothes while Ruth prepared dinner.
Hua Tuo made a mental note that for quicker progress, he should set up camp in that cave that Zero made. Submerging oneself into the training experience is always a good thing. Many masters achieved breakthroughs quicker when they go into seclusion to train. He took a look at the vampire and dark elf and made up his mind.
At dinner, Zero was pleasantly surprised when Hua Tuo told the dark elf and vampire to return to Half Moon Village for a month.
"Zero and I will be training in seclusion. If he doesn't succeed trials within a month, we are calling it off. I still have yet to teach him about surgery."
Pressurised by the sudden deadline, Zero quickly polished away the food and declared that he was going to pack even though there really wasn't anything much he should bring. Everything he needed was in his inventory.
Ruth and Mitchnew were surprised but didn't question it. After all, the Sage God will be there with Zero. A month would fly by very quickly and they wished Zero all the best before cleaning up for the night. They would depart the next morning.
Zero was uncharacteristically quiet that evening as he reflected in the contrasting types of voids he'd experienced earlier. One was warm and full of things that Zero always wanted while the other was like a horrible nightmare come true. How could the same space be so vastly different at the same time? The brunet couldn't understand it. In fact, his memory about the time spent in that void was becoming hazy. The illusions and sensations he experienced were messing around with his mind so badly that the doctor-in-training wondered if there was a right answer to the question.
Hua Tuo packed some bedsheets to lay on the stone floor for them to sleep on and a set of dry clothing. he wasn't repeating that mistake again. Zero didn't really have anything to bring apart from some mana recovery pills that he made a few months back. It was for faster recovery and special training that Hua Tuo briefed him about in the second stage. Still, the teen wondered when he would be able to overcome the first stage.
Hua Tuo turned in early and let Zero decide if he wanted to do some night training. The brunet contemplated going back to the Aggression Falls after his earlier failures to conquer it but decided against it. Hua Tuo let Zero teleport away into the lamp to sleep for the night. Knowing Zero, he would be in it tossing and turning for a few hours with thoughts crowding in his head before he fell asleep.
Sadly, he was wrong. Zero didn't really sleep in the lamp. He was doing intensive research on the reading device.
"Zero, your training begins early tomorrow," Bob tried to encourage his master to get some rest but the teenager was stubborn.
"I'll take some pills to recover tomorrow and throw on some buff magic if I'm tired. This is important."
The Eternal Dragon groaned. Zero was definitely not going to let this end until he found something. Mii was busy with her work because Coux contacted her earlier so Bob decided to take on the role of a guardian in her stead.
"What are you researching?"
Zero sighed. "I need to find out about the origin of all three waterfalls. Where did they come from? Why is this spring isolated from the rest of the water sources and why is Endow Hill so special even on Earth? Sleepy Cave's existence should be no coincidence either.
Bob blinked. He actually knew the answers to some of Zero's questions because he was the guardian of Sleepy Cave and in extension, Endow Hill. However, he didn't know if it was a good idea to let his nosy master know too much.
"What are you going to do after you find out?"
Zero smiled. "Device a new method for training. I only have a month to conquer all three waterfalls and that isn't enough time at all. Truen once said that preparation is often more important than the execution. I'm cheating a little now by using the time difference in the lamp to do my research before morning comes. Time really isn't enough no matter what I do... wonder if that's the reason why so many people yearn for immortality."
The dragon grinned wryly. He highly doubted people wanted to become immortal because of the long to-do list. Maybe in Merlin's case and Buddha's case or Steve Job's case because they were the academic type. On the other hand, Hua Tuo probably wished to return to the cycle of life and forget about his painful history. Most people who weren't' immortals wanted immortality simply because they feared death. It wasn't anything noble like what Zero thought it would be but he wouldn't correct the young doctor.
"The cliffs were formed around the same time Sleepy Cave was born if not earlier."
Zero looked up from his reading device. "Really? how do you know?"
Bob rolled his eyes. "I was Sleepy Cave's guardian. Surely I would know a few secrets."
Zero tossed the reading device aside and turned his expectant eyes towards the dragon. Bob swallowed and wondered if he should have kept his mouth shut.
"On second thoughts... it's probably not accurate information since it's now outdated for several centuries..." Bob tried to squirm away but Zero was faster and caught onto one of Bob's hind claws before the mini dragon could fly away.
"Tell me! It's fine if it isn't updated. At least that would be me a general direction of where to search. You have no idea how messy the information I got from the library was!"
Bob mentally cried and wanted to sew his mouth shut the next time. He had a feeling that his young master was going to sniff out new trouble again.
"Only if you promise me that you will not investigate the source of the water and focus on your training," the dragon put on his sternest face and Zero nodded like a pecking hen.
with Zero's promise, the dragon was careful not to disclose too much information and only enough to sate the boy's curiosity. 
"They say that the water from these three waterfalls came from a different dimension or plane. It's also part of Sleepy Cave's mystery. The cave has a Lake of Reflection at the heart of it as you might have known by now. While the water isn't supplied from Sleepy Cave, the water from this spring flows to one of Sleepy Cave's passages in a small stream that goes into the Lake of Reflection. I guess you can say that the true source of power for everything living on Endow Hill is this actually the Trigression Falls."
Zero listened with interest and didn't voice out any of his questions, waiting for Bob to complete his story.
"The Trigression Falls was formed when there was a huge earthquake after the war between Dragons and Hunters. Back then, we were hunted for our hearts that could retain mana. Dragons were magical creatures and every part of our body was a treasure for many other races. Dwarves and elves have found ways to use our hearts as magical cores to sustain some of their most powerful magical formations or fuel mass weapons of destruction. Dragon blood rained on this very forest and attracted the attention of many mana hungry souls."
Zero could almost imagine the horrific scene where dragons were shot down from the skies with their blood falling like rain onto the forest soil, leaving everything bathed in crimson as they became smaller in numbers.
Bob had a faraway look in his eyes when he told Zero all about the deal he made with Gaia and how he became the guardian of Sleepy Cave.
Zero listened without speaking and understood a little better why Bob was so happy to meet another dragon in the abyss. Olaf might be weird at times but for Bob who no longer had family, Olaf was like a precious brother he never thought he'd see again.
"Many races came to the battlefield after the dragons had been massacred to harvest the dragon corpses and mana. The land wasn't able to repair itself after the bloody war and the forest grew angry. They borrowed Gaia's power to repel the looters and three cliffs were formed. The spring was meant to nurture the dying land and Gaia borrowed life sources from other dimensions. Sleepy Cave's existence was an accident. Initially, I was the guardian of Endow Hill and spent most of my time splashing around in the Trigression Falls. However, that didn't deter all the looters and adventurers who still tried to look for remains of that battle. They lost their lives and their resentment for the forest gave birth to Sleepy Cave that had been nurtured with life energy by the creek with Trigression Fall's water."
Zero didn't know how to react. While the source of the water still remained unknown, it was no longer important. The huge reveal about Bob's origin and the Sleepy Cave's existence made Zero feel angry at the Hunters. How could they hunt dragons like livestock?
Then again, the young doctor knew that he wasn't any different with the fish that he caught to eat and train revival magic on. It was a cruel world where the fittest survived. Zero wondered why life was such a cruel thing. It wasn't easy to create life but it there was simply too many ways to take it away. The cycle was important to the Gods to maintain the balance of the world but Zero wondered why it existed in the first place.
He looked long and hard at Bob who had reincarnated to his duty so many times he'd lost count of it. "Don't you feel tired having to come back repeatedly in this never-ending cycle of life?"
Bob smiled. "A little. However, it's probably better than returning to the void. At least I still have another chance at being happy and doing what I want. Hope is a thing that's hard to kill. Imagine if I'd given up on living a few years back. I wouldn't have met you and we certainly wouldn't be able to travel together."
Zero nodded. What Bob said made sense. However, he still couldn't understand Solo's intention when he created the cycle of rebirth. Wasn't it better to just create life and not death? The number of souls still wouldn't change and everyone can be immortals. the world could have been a happier place that never changed.
No, that was bad. If the world never changed, Zero would never have been able to get out of that void.
Aggression Falls was something like that newbie God that woke him up. It pushed him out of his comfort zone and made him aware of what he wasn't capable of doing. However, it was also a good thing because Zero desperately needed this push in order to overcome his limitations. Solo didn't have limitations back then and everything he created was following the same thought pattern. It wasn't clear earlier but Zero now understood why he thought that the world was so flawed.
Unlike Zero, Solo only saw the world as a huge puzzle with pieces connecting one of two things at a time. However, the young doctor didn't just see a pretty picture. He saw an intricate system that never ended.
It was strange how the world Zero was in resembled the void he was trapped in. Although Solo broke free from that empty space and filled it with a lot of things that he thought would be interesting, his past self was never truly satisfied. His creations often felt empty and Solo hated everything that he made. he wanted no part of the horrid nightmare that he couldn't undo so he created the Great Gods to oversee his project and ran away from responsibilities, pushing it to Zero to take over.
Now he understood a little more about the differences between the two void as he meditated earlier.
Bob watched as his young master yawned and tried his best not to fall asleep on the comfortable bed. It didn't take long after Zero had a breakthrough in understanding to fall asleep. With his curiosity sated and troubled thoughts answered, there was nothing much fuelling the brunet on.
the dragon flew over the drape the blanket over the teenager's sleeping form and whispered goodnight before leaving the lamp for Zero's mindscape where he joined an overworked strawcherry fairy with paperwork.

Chapter Four: Practice with Monsters

Liz and I had been working on astral projection. We would meditate in silence then lay on our backs whispering "Spiritu, I Videre" two times. I could feel my mind drift for a moment before the world around me faded into view. I could see myself and Liz laying on the floor. It looked like we were sleeping peacefully. 

There was a shimmer next to me and Liz appeared. We could see each only if we were projecting at the same time. Each practice we tried to get further from our bodies. My manager, Alira was able to stay in this form for hours and could go miles away. Liz and I were not that great at it yet. If we broke focus or got too far we were instantly pulled back into our bodies. 

This time we managed to make it out of Liz's bedroom and into her kitchen. Only about fifteen feet or so, but the time before we barely made it out of her room.

We both shot up from the floor. "That was awesome!" Liz exclaimed.

"In a few weeks we should be able to make it down the stairs or maybe to the playground." I looked out Elizabeth's bedroom window. It overlooked the complex's small park with a mini rock climbing wall, two slides, and a tunnel. Next to it was the grassy hill covered in trees that I always crossed to get to Liz's place. On the other side of the park was the apartment office and the laundry matt. We liked to annoy people with our odd conversations in there while we did our laundry.

After more spell practice and singing to songs on youtube, I headed back home. The clouds covered the remaining light of the evening sky. Tall lamp posts lit the cracked sidewalks. Ares met me at the bottom of Liz's stair case. I scratched his head before we started through the apartments.

A group of people sat just under the light of the park, smoking and laughing as they talked. Ares took the lead and I lost sight of him as he trotted into the shadows of a broken lamp. 

My heart skipped as I heard a hiss from ahead. "Ares?" I called out.

I could see a figure ahead. An elderly woman was leaning towards Ares. He fluffed out his tail and pulled back his ears.

"Come here little kitty," said the woman as she slowly crept closer to my familiar. 

"Ares..." I patted my leg.

Ares perked his ears and darted to my side. He gave a low growl.

"Oh. Does that kitty belong to you?" The woman gave a crooked smile.

I cleared my throat. "Yes."

"You shouldn't let him outside, dear. It can be so very dangerous for a cat to wander the streets. I keep my cats inside. I could keep him safe." She took a step closer.

What a creepy lady, I thought to myself. "He's perfectly fine with me."

Ares hissed. My stomach flipped as the women took another step.

She smelled the air and her eye grew wide. "A witch!" She spat at my feet.

I stood there in shock. What is she? How does she know what I am? The woman grumbled. Her skin bubbled and her peach colored wrinkles stretch and twisted into a bumpy gray beast. The woman's snowy hair shrunk into a streak of fur on her head and down her back. Her bottom teeth grew into long, sharp canines that stuck up past her wide, ebony nose. Horns stretch from her head. Her eyes glowed yellow and her long tongue slithered from her jaws. 

I trembled. I felt frozen as the creature reached out her grizzly-like claws and screeched. Ares leapt from the ground and sunk his claws into the creature's face. 

"Ares!" I yelled, but as I reached out to pull him away, the monster swung her arm and sent me flying to the ground. All of the air was pushed out of my lungs as I hit the concrete. The horned beast peeled my cat from her face. Blood dripped from the scratches along her cheek and eye. She opened her massive jaws and dangled my cat above her like a worm for a baby bird.

I drew in a deep breath and screamed as I reach for him. My had burned as a ball of red light shot from my palm. It smashed the creature in her chest. She dropped my cat, who ran to my side. We watched as she keeled over in pain. She clenched at the gaping hole in her flesh. 

"HEY!" A voice called from a window on a third story apartment. "Shut it, down there! I'm try'na sleep!"

I had looked up at the window, but as I turned back, the monster was already gone and droplets of blood smeared across the sidewalk and into the shadows.

I wasn't sure how I had done that. Only witches who had years and years of practice could do magic with no spells, symbols, or supplies. It must have been a fluke. yes a weird fluke...

We hurried home and locked every door and window. I pulled my magical books and found one on mystical beasts. It was wrapped in leather that was ripped in a few spots. Ares sat on my lap as I skimmed through the pages. I found a picture of the creature. Above the drawing it said TROLLS. I read on. 

Trolls often live in dirty, crowded parts of cities. They feast on small animals, usually favoring cats. They have an incredible sense of smell and immense physical strength. Like most magical creatures, they can keep their true form hidden.

I spent the rest of the night reading about trolls, werewolves, faeries and different types of demons. I thought it was about time I knew what I might come up against in the future. Still, I couldn't get what happened out of my mind. Was the ball of energy really just a fluke?

The story begins in 2020 in a high school known as Astoria high. A young boy named Phoenix lazing around on a class room chair. While his friend's eve who was drawing pictures in her book not paying much attention to the lesson  while KIA listened to the teacher working away making notes here and there. when suddenly lesson was over and the teacher began give out permission slips to go visit arched ruins school trip(that is said to be the centre of world's) once the bell went all the students made a dart for the door to get out as quick as possible to go home. They began to walk home together eve playfully tackled phoenix as kia just walked passed them both stopping to tell them to  get up and stop messing in an irritated expression. so they all travelled to the same location due to they were all neighbours. But instead of heading to their separate houses eve suggested we go play video games at phoenix home. So they all did but Kia went straight into the kitchen due to she's more comfortable doing house work than playing games. 
Eve and phoenix went into the living room and played video games until KIA soon came in the living room with meals for three and sweets cupcakes to share for desert. Kia had made a meal for phoenix's mother as well but left it set up nicely on the kitchen counter covers up ready for when she gets back from work. As they all relaxed time flew bye until some time after dark came. eve and KIA left to go home in street lamp light.
(no worries though they only live next door) eve said good bye but KIA just left without a word reading the permission slip on the way out to see what the trip was for and about. Now quiet and relaxed Phoenix sat in his room looking at the permission slip wondering what things would be at the ruins of Aroura falls when the front door opened and closed phoenix mum was home and already in the kitchen eating the food KIA had made with ravenous behaviour. Phoenix walked in to the kitchen and gave his mum the slip but she didn't even look at it properly she signed it gave it back to him and told him she's off to her room for some sleep before she has to get up in 5 hours or work again so she vanished up stairs with her food until morning. Early next morning phoenix awoke to his mom already gone to work and a note let on the side saying (your friends will be here in 1 hour to help you get ready for the trip to day so get you but in gear boy) so phoenix started to get ready and then the door bell rang eve and kia are at the door but let them self's in kia immediately went straight in to the kitchen making a picnic ready or the trip or the three of them while eve ran straight up stairs bugging phoenix to hurry up and get ready. (Emotions flaring) eve and phoenix mess about up stairs. Finishing making the food kia ran up stairs told the two they were late all three of them bolted out the door phoenix closing the front door one the way out then trying to catch up with the girls head to the school to meet up with the class to head to the ruins.
Reaching the school in decent time the three friends ran in line while the teacher checked names and permission slips as student's entered the mini bus while Boarding the bus. 
On the bus it was busy kids messing about throwing pencils and pens even the half eaten chewing gums  . KIA, eve and phoenix sat at the back away from the noise chatting about the things that the ruins could hold and what treasures could be there.  1 hour passed and the bus became quiet as it entered a parking lot that was fairly empty at this time of day. Getting off and seeing the surroundings was quiet depressing due to it looked as though a war had just taken place just then and this sight was the after sight of it all but they were ruins of a strong past of magic and knights? (Children start heading in different directions to explore) so eve ran towards a lake with a beautiful view the other two soon followed her but little did they know that their day was about to change. Kia set down the picnic blanket and left eve to do her own thing. Eve and phoenix played near the water's edge dangerously close for a game to take place as expected eve being too rough in her play she pushed phoenix into the cold water. As he hit the water a glow of light came from the bottom of the lake where the water began to pull phoenix towards it. Eve in a panic ran to get KIA but it was too late by the time the two girls came back phoenix was gone out of sight and nowhere to been seen at the bottom of the lake either….. 
Phoenix was gone.....

I was made to apologize but I refused to do so because I did nothing wrong. Screw her, I have nothing to apologize for and I am not bowing my head to someone else who is weaker than myself. 

= "I will not lower my head to someone who is in the wrong. Such a foolish act is something should only be done by buffoons who have no spine." =

I refused to apologize and Solstice insisted on making me apologize, we were now stuck in a loop that will not be resolved until one of us bends. The person who will bend over will not be me. 

Solstice was angered by my actions and punished me by staying in the orphanage's library where the books and knowledge book was kept. I was ecstatic by this punishment.

Solstice wanted to have the three boys I punished follow me in the library, I think she is hoping to see if we can work things out. I think that would be an impossible task. Or something on that line. 

= "You boys will be spending the night together in the library and reflect on what you did. Try to escape and you will get no breakfast." =

I was led in a library and the three boys followed me. Solstice asked us to get along before leaving us alone. I threatened the three to not make a ruckus else I will make them shut their mouths. 

Someone shouted back and asked me threateningly, = "Or what? You dirty half-breed!" =

I punched him and knocked him out cold, but he dared cold me dirt and I added a kick on the abdomen. 

He resembled a cooked prawn after that and the other two dragged the other one's body away in fear of receiving my fist. 

It was on the day that I learned of what a library is that I found something that truly interested me. 

Although there were things I have already learned in both the hospital and through the World Cube. 

I began to read anyway, the books I read consists of stories about people who called themselves as [Seekers]. 

Seekers were people who gathered in a place called a [Seeker Union] or [Seeker Guild]. 

Many famous Seekers had their stories written on books, it was enjoyable to read and imaging their adventures.

People who called themselves mages interested me even more.

Beings who can control the four fundamental elements of the world to cast a spell and inflict injuries to their enemies with space in between them.

The complicated and elegant way of using one's mind to plan ahead before using a spell. The delicate way of implementing spells in different situations.

It was wondrous and I was drawn to these stories, and before long, the night became day and I had to do my task before continuing my reading session. 

After learning of storybooks, I yearned for them more and more. 

And with dozens of books and not one child wanting to read them, I found myself reading a book all by myself, only moving away when I need to eat, take a bath, poop, piss, and do finish my tasks. 

I will also be forced to go to my room and sleep at night which displeased me. 

I wanted to read these storybooks, the orphanage had what you call a light bulb that could light up a whole room.

Back when I used to live with Von, the only light we had was a lamp so it made it hard for me to read. But with the bright and wondrous light bulb, I could read like it was daytime.

But because of my curfew, it was almost impossible for me to read at night as much as I would want. So, I device a plan that could let me read as much as I wanted. 

That plan was simple, I beat up the three boys and I would be sent to the library to reflect. I nodded my head and implemented the plan and beat the three boys for two days straight and gained access to the library at night by using this method. 

But after I beat the three boys a third time, the plan did not work and I was busted. 

I gained no entry to the library that night and the boys were beaten up by me for nothing. What could have they done to suffer such injustice?

But Solstice did have enough of me acting like so and she learned of my intentions. So, she gave me the right to enter the library whenever I wanted to. 

But not that night because that night, I was punished to go to sleep early and forget about books. 

Coming back to the present time. I now gain access to the library and I now finish every storybook inside the library. I moved into reading books about spells and mages rather than stories about them.

Now, I want to become a mage myself. So, I opened a book about mages and read through the fundamentals of becoming a mage. 

In the seventh month of the year 982 N.E, a full year after I arrived in the orphanage, I finished all the books yet gained useless information about mages. 

In the past year I spent in the Shining Sun Orphanage, I became recluse and my distance towards the other children increased. Which was both a shame and something good?

It was a shame because I think I finally downed my smile and my attitude towards socialization. And good because I could focus on my study of magic and spells. 

But even after a year of researching and trying different methods. I failed to make a connection with any of the four elements, [Fire], [Water], [Wind], and [Earth].

It was tough for me to make a connection with them because of something peculiar. 

A child that awakens as a mage will already make a connection with an element once they create their Mana Core. The instant a Mana Core was created, they will automatically be connected to the element they have the highest affinity.

It is at this time where one of the more old ways of measuring one's talents comes to light. 

Any child that awakens will connect to at least one of the four fundamental elements, but because I already have a Mana Core when I awaken, it seems like I am a rare case. 

I had not said anything about having mana to Solstice, I do not want to attract attention to myself. I had learned many things on stories I have read and many of their stupid mistakes was showing off when they had no strength or backing to protect themselves. 

Bottom line is, I am in a tough position where I have to figure out a way how I can make a connection.

A month passed and I am still left with no solution, at this point of time, a young man came into the orphanage. 

The young man had black hair opposite of my white hair. He had black eyes when I have red, I am comparing his features to mine because I fail to distinguish what is a handsome and a beautiful face to what is not.

They say I am handsome, so my basis was my own face. 

Going back, the young man that came in was seven years old and is weird as he chose to be alone and was somewhat similar to me other than the fact he has no ability to do any chores. 
But he was oddly more likable and had many children flock around him. 

In the first three months, I ignored his existence and focused on my own things. But as time went on, and a month passed, other children became jealous of the attention the child was getting and he was harassed and ignored by other boys. 

At some point, I managed to witness five people surrounding him. 

They were ganging up on him and I found it entertaining that someone was getting hurt so I stayed and watched to see what would happen. 

Everything was happening on the back of the library and I was watching in a barely noticeable window. 

The five boys pushed him around and after one bad push and the boy fell down. 

He finally had enough and stood his ground. He fought back, but not with his fist. Instead, he held a red pendant that was dangling over his neck. A red flash of light escaped his body. 

The boy opened his mouth and uttered, = "Igni!" =

A small ball of flames flew out of his hands and hit a nearby rock, a mini-explosion occurred. 

Boom.

It did not heat any of the boys, but it scared the living out of them and they fell onto their asses. 

The boy who cast the spell looked down upon them and I heart him said coldly, = "Mess with me and that will land on any of you five." =

I was clueless about the ways of the world, but I can supplement that with my ardent desire for knowledge.

I was powerless, but I now wield powers no mortal can hope to comprehend.

I was kind, but I learned ruthlessness is the only way to live in a world that wants my head. 

Generals, Kings, Emperors, and Gods are just some being who gained recognition but all of them like everyone else.

I am a being no one wanted to exist, I am a scourge, but I will rise and be revered by all.

And if they do not bend their knees? Their fates will be sealed underneath my feet.

Within a few seconds, he reached the bottom of the slope. He hid in the bushes as a phantom tank, and began drinking cola and eating fried chicken!
However, at that moment, a Holy Grenade also rolled down from the ridge of the mountains to where Chen Zile was hiding.
"What the--" Chen Zile exclaimed.
Even as Chen Zile turned into a handsome guy with four-pack abs, he could not figure out how his opponent had found out his location, and how his opponent knew that he was hiding in the bushes to recover?
It could not have been "Blaze", for "Blaze" could not take effect from such a terrifyingly great distance!
Furthermore, the entire sequence of events took place very quickly. Chen Zile thought about the distance from which the hand grenade was thrown and realized that his opponent must have rushed over after shooting his helmet. When his opponent reached a suitably close distance, he had then thrown the Holy Grenade from the other side of the slope, causing Chen Zile to ascend to the heavens without even finishing his fried chicken.
Did my opponent do well?
No, it was me who received it well.
Rather than skill... it was more justified to say that he had already known my location, preempted my reaction, and knew exactly where I was going to hide!
It had to be made known that while Chen Zile was in hiding, he had not fired the rifle, nor did he move in his camouflage combat suit. He could not have been seen from that far away!

"Ehhh, that's alot of responsibility though."

Just outside the village, Hanako and I sat underneath the shade of a tree. I was relaxing with a strand of grass in my mouth as Leine and Lamp loaded things into the back of our red and white carriage.

It was horse driven. The actual carriage itself wasn't small by any means, if I had to guess it could fit a good seven or eight people if you tried. And, with at least one person having to stay outside in order to steer the horses, there would be tons of room inside for the remaining three to fool around. 

"It was your idea to do this in the first place," I said, "that makes you the founder of this party. I just thought that meant you were going to be in charge."

Hanako smoothed down her skirt. "But during our fight, you were giving all sorts of orders. Kinda like a ship captain."

"I told you what to do once."

"And it was really convincing! You also got us two new friends to travel with us in no time at all." 

"Still, you sure you want to give up your leadership so soon? T-technically you could order me to do whatever you want."

"Hm," Hanako said, leaning her head on my shoulder, "anything, huh?"

"There would be boundaries of course but..yeah. Anything specific you want?"

She came closer and blew on my ear, causing me to feel hot. "I got one thing in mind."

"You..do, huh?"

"The one thing," she whispered as softly as possible, "the one and only thing I'm going to do as leader is.."

"Y-yeah?"

"Give my spot to you! You really deserve it," Hanako said, giving me a quick peck on the cheek.

"You..." I pinched the bridge of my nose in an attempt to calm myself down.  "Geez! Fine, I'll be the best leader ever then!" 

"Yay!"

Kirara emerged from behind the tree with her arms crossed. "If anything, I should take charge since I'm the only one who knows where we're going," she said, pulling a small square out of her skirt pocket. The sun shining off of her hairpins, Kirara held the folded paper between her fingers as she came to a full stop in front of us.

"How much did you hear?" I asked.

She smirked. "Just enough. You don't need to worry though, I have no intentions of leading anything any time soon."

"Wait a minute," I said, stroking my chin. "The leader gets to choose where he sits, right?"

"I guess but I'm not sure why that matters at all."

I got up and walked towards our carriage. Just before I got there, Lamp immediately dropped whatever she was holding and ran to the door. 

"Let..me get... that.. for you," she said, curtsying as she opened it for me. She was clearly out of breath.

I put my hands in front of me. "Um, thanks but I'm not getting in." 

Lamp raised an eyebrow at me as I climbed to the top of the carriage and sat right in the middle, cross-legged. "Chris-sama, what are you doing?"

"What does it look like? I'm choosing my spot for our adventure."

"Can I join you up there?"

I waved my hand dismissively. "No can do, Lamp. This is the leader's spot so only I can sit up here," I said as a devilish smile curled onto my lips, "speaking of spots..." I put my fingertips together and cupped my hands as I called out to the two girls near the tree. "Hanako-san, if I'm leader then I officially make you my second in command! I-it just so happens that the official spot for that position is on my lap!"

"Really?! How lucky for me," Hanako said, dusting herself off and strolling over. I grabbed her hand and helped her get on top of the carriage. Once we both sat down, I found myself in my own personal heaven!

Wrapping my hands around her waist, I buried my face into Hanako's hair. Even if her bun or hairpin got in the way sometimes, not even the softest, most delicate silk could have compared what her hair felt like. I could've, without a doubt in my mind, fallen asleep using all her fluff as an impromptu pillow.

"Smooth as ever, aren't we, Chris?" Kirara asked, whacking the carriage with her staff.

"I feel like I should be telling you to shut up or something but I'm too immersed in this fluffy paradise to really be sure."

"Hopefully this is a regular thing for the second in command," Hanako said, briefly closing her eyes in bliss. 

"You can bet on that."

Lamp's breathing turned ragged as she stared at the two of us. "Let's all just wait for a second. I think we should hold a vote so that things are fair—"

"Absolutely not," I replied instantly.

After chucking the last bag into back, Leine held a hand to her mouth as she snickered. "You know, you four aren't easing my nerves at all."

"We'll be fine Leine-san." Kirara pulled her off to the side and began to whisper, "at least I will. I'll try my best to babysit the other three."

"I heard that," I said, resting my head on top of Hanako's. "I'll have you know that we can defend ourselves just fine now. Any monsters who come in my and Hanako-san's way won't know what hit them!"

"Yeah! Me and Chris are unstoppable together!" Hanako added.

"As we speak we're coming up with all sorts of techniques so that we can keep everyone safe."

Leine closed her eyes and put a hand to her face. "Oh my, are you now? Your big sister would like to see some of these techniques, how about one last spar before you leave?"

I broke out into a cold sweat at the thought of being pummeled by her again. Rubbing the back of my head, I tried my best to nonchalantly turn her down. "Ah. Well, we could do that but I think we should get going, right guys?"

"I'm in no rush," Kirara said. "Don't you wanna see them go at it again, Lamp?"

"Of course I do. Show us your new moves, you two! One last fight won't hurt anyone."

Wrong, it would hurt me and I didn't want that. Faking a yawn, I said, "I'm feeling a bit tired so I don't think I can really fight like this."

"I'm only joking around, dear. You need all your strength for your journey ahead of you, don't you?" Leine said, giving me a wink.

"O-of course! Who knows what we could meet on our way to..."

Kirara rolled her eyes. "Estermere."

"Yes, yes. Estermeir. That place."

Kirara and Lamp went to the front and sat down on wooden seats. While I personally didn't agree with this, Lamp would be acting as a coachman with Kirara looking over her. This was to make sure she didn't do anything strange.

Leine's expression darkened. "Are..none of you going to be sitting inside the carriage? Your big sister paid alot for this, you know."

"This is the leader's spot," I said bluntly. Hanako nodded, twice. 

"I can't, Leine. Chris-sama entrusted me with the task of getting us to our destination!" Lamp said, petting the back of one of the horses. "Muehehe..five days on the road with creamates."

"Eh, I did?"

Kirara jerked her head in my direction. "Yes. Yes, you did."

"I-I just remembered...right."

"I can't really use the back much either," Kirara said, putting an arm around Lamp who was still drooling, "I gotta make sure this little weirdo doesn't do anything."

"All my savings..down the drain..if I knew this was the case, I would've went with something smaller," Leine whined. "Please find a way to use the extra space..pretty pretty please."

Kirara flailed her arms in an attempt to calm her down. "We will, we will! I'm sure we can use it as a mini infirmary for Hanakoizumi-san or something!"

"Infirmary?" Hanako said, rubbing her thumb across the back of my palm.

"She thinks you'll get hurt again," I said.

"Hey, that's not true! Everything'll go just fine!"

I shot Kirara a quick glance and smirked. "Yeah, Kirara. Everything'll go just fine."

"We'll be using it for you too. Something tells me that I won't have wait very long for that," she said without skipping a beat.

The horses began to trot forward as my hold on Hanako tightened. She responded with a giggle, taking in the atmosphere in front of us. A dirt road that was paved for miles upon miles, the smell of the freshly cut, dark green grass that surrounded it, and an overwhelming feeling of childish glee. To Lamp and Kirara, this may have been nothing more than just another outing but to the two of us, that couldn't have been any further than the truth.

"Onee-chan!" I yelled. She stood with her hands folded as I waved to get her attention. "The next time you see me, I'll officially be an adventurer! Just you wait until our next spar, you won't know what hit you! Probably."

Kirara gripped her skirt before shooting up. One leg bent on the bench she was sitting on, she used both hands to call out to Leine. "Me too! I'll become an adventurer and make you proud!"

"Bye, bye Leine-chan," Hanako cheered.

Leine calmly waved back at us. "Be safe on your trip," she said, "once you get your licenses, I got something special planned for you four so please hurry back soon! You wouldn't want to make your big sister worry, would you?"

Taking our first steps outside of Kirara's village—our first adventure was finally underway!

The ride was bumpy. Every now and then the carriage would hit a rock, throwing Hanako and I upwards slightly. Maybe sitting inside would have been the smarter thing to do but there was no way that I was missing out on the beautiful scenery in front of me. That being Hanako's precious orange locks, of course.

"Is it really that soft?" she asked. I hummed in agreement. "You really are like a baby sometimes, it's adorable."

"Yeah, yeah." I took a break from my fluffy utopia and stared ahead of me. Still nothing but dirt road. Resting my chin on top of Hanako's head something caught my attention.

Unlike Kirara who leaned backward, Lamp had her eyes on the road with her back completely straight. In between her and where the carriage started was the pink and white book. 

"Hanako-san, can you get that for me," I said, pointing at it. She immediately snatched the book from between her. A loud, metallic thud could be heard as Lamp fell back and smacked her head, followed by soft whimpering.

"Hanako-sama, Chris-sama, you could have made me crash! Behave yourselves," Lamp said, caressing herself.

"Crash on what exactly?" I asked. It wasn't like we were in the most crowded of places. "Sorry, though. I thought you were paying attention."

"Didn't mean to hurt you," Hanako said, clapping her hands together like she was praying to a statue. "Kirara-chan, hurry! She needs you to heal her!"

"No," she replied.

"Huh? Why not!"

Lamp sniffed. "It's fine, just be more careful next time."

"Honestly now, what is it with this thing," I said, turning the book around and inspecting it. "It keeps popping up everywhere."

Now that I got a good look at it, I could say that the cover was a little more detailed than I first thought. Alot of it was white space. No title. No cover illustration. But, right in the middle of three layers of circles was a star. Four golden crosses, the same design that was on Lamp's dress, extended through both the first and second layers and touched the pink outer parts of the book.

"I've seen a few times too. I thought it just belonged to Leine-chan," Hanako said.

"No way it would be hers. Senpai was reading it at her place, maybe we packed some of her stuff on here by mistake."

"You think so? I did see Polka-chan with it a few times. She was using it as a stool so her pants wouldn't get all sandy."

Lamp slammed her hands on top of the carriage, startling us both. "She did what?!"

"So much for safely getting us to our destination," Kirara grumbled as she took over as coachman.

"It belongs to me!" Lamp said, swiping the book from me and dusting it off with her hand. After a few good pats and a blow for good measure, she angrily shook her fist at the sky. "Polka...just you wait until we come home, I'll request a bunch of custom weapons and triple your workload."

"You're just giving her more money then, aren't you?" I asked.

Hanako carefully crawled forward before sitting on her knees. "What's it about Lamp-chan? It must be a really interesting book for you to bring it with you everywhere."

"Well, yeah... It's the most fascinating, most amazing book in the world!" Lamp's flushed face squished and rubbed against the book. "I've cared for and cherished this copy of the scriptures ever since I was a little girl. Special doesn't even begin to explain this." Hanako and I leaned forward on our hands and knees as she flipped to a new page. Much to my surprise, it was completely blank with no words to be seen.

"There's..nothing there," I said.

"Wrong, there's nothing there. Yet!" she replied, holding the book to the sun. The crosses shined as she continued in a somber yet determined tone. Seeing this side of Lamp was something I wasn't used to yet. "Constantly updating with tales about creamates that fill me with uttermost joy, this copy of the scriptures never runs out of pages. Someone who's really important to me gave it as a gift so as far as I know, it's one of a kind."

I gasped before shakily turning to Hanako. "Do my ears deceive me? I didn't think someone as perverted as Lamp would have a b-boyfriend."

"What?! No, you got the wrong idea!"

"Or girlfriend," Hanako said.

Lamp covered her blushing face with her book. "I...don't have a lover. All my affection goes towards the creamates and all their greatness." Completely straight-faced she turned around and winked. "Oh, and you too, Kirara."

"I-is that so..." Kirara said, keeping her eyes on the road.

Now that she was in control of the horses, it was much easier to stay on top of the carriage. About half an hour had passed when the grass that was on both sides of us got significantly shorter. 

"Stop the carriage," I said, sternly. My eyes had found a new target.

Kirara raised an eyebrow. "I'm sorry?"

Crouching on one knee and ready to jump, I repeated myself cheerily. "Let's stop for a sec, ok? There's no way I'm missing out on seeing one of these things up close."

Kirara hesitantly looked to her right. A blue, gelatinous blob was happily hopping around on its lonesome. It was circular in shape and jiggled each time it hit the ground. "The slime? You'll see plenty of them later. Let's just keep moving forward for no—"

"Lamp. Stop the carriage."

Perking up as if my words acted as a remote control, she saluted me. With a "right away, Chris-sama!" Lamp shoved Kirara to the side, forcing her back to her original spot. The carriage came to a full stop as she used all her strength to pull on the leash.

I hopped off and activated [Shroud]. It acted much differently than in the fight against the stone giant. Smaller, more controlled flames flickered and popped around my body, acting more like sudden bursts of lightning than fire. 

The change was sudden, but a welcome one for sure. I would gladly take this over my fire exploding outwards, setting everything nearby ablaze. This was much more environmentally friendly, which was nice and all but I still couldn't help but ask why. My strength hadn't gone down since then, at least, I think it didn't. That sort of thing is always hard to figure out.

"I wouldn't do that if I were you," Kirara said. 

I ignored her. They were just slimes after all. The same slimes you'd see at the beginning of any RPG.  The same slimes who, once you're done with the main game and head back to the starting area, easily die in one hit. Not to say that I'm anywhere near that level or anything, that would be wrong. In this case, I would definitely still be in the tutorial. Still, despite this, I'm definitely sure that I could beat a slime.

I crouched down and poked it a few times. Well, I say poked but my finger went through each time I touched the thing. It had no solid form whatsoever. 

"How's it feel, Chris?" Hanako asked.

"Gross." My shoulders sank as I answered. "It's like running my hand through watery jello. Geez, this is no fun...I can't even hold it. They always looked like they'd be really soft too... Ah, well I guess it doesn't matter anymore," I said, raising my hand to the sky.

"I really. Wouldn't do that if I were you—" Kirara repeated.

My hand chopped through the slime like a butter knife to butter. Then, there was a pause. 

One. Two. 

The slime exploded with a loud pop.

My outfit completely covered in blue sludge, I crashed to the ground and frantically scrubbed my eyes with my sleeves in hope they would get whatever was splashed in them.

"—especially since getting slime goo in your eyes really stings. What was it again? The equivalent of two bottles of soap..or was it four?"

"That's too specific!" 

I thrashed about for a little while longer until the stinging pain subsided. When I could open my eyes again, which was not by much, mind you, everything around me was nothing more than a blur.  Trees, grass, Kirara's mocking snickers, Hanako's precious locks, these were easy to pinpoint. The carriage? Not so much.

Four slimes appeared as I sat on my knees and squinted to see them better. Squishing their bodies together, they became larger in size. Five more showed up. Then another seven. All of them continued to fuse together until what was once as small as one of my boots came to be twice my size. How many bottles of soap was this thing worth? It hopped closer to me, leaving some bits of sludge behind. The slime jiggled and contorted once it hit the ground again.

"I got you, Chris! Oh but close your eyes first, that looked like it really hurt," Hanako said, jumping off the carriage and snapping a piece of her shield off, "we wouldn't want you going blind, would we?"  What an angel! 

I shut my eyes as hard as I could, even using my hands to cover them just to be sure. Hanako threw one of her clovers like a frisbee and lodged it into the giant slimes core.

I counted in my head. One. Two.

Pop.

Sludge came raining down from the sky, painting our pristine white carriage with spots of sky blue. Kirara had no problem whacking all the goop that came her way as Lamp followed behind, holding her book as close to her as humanly possible.

"Here lies Chris, the greatest adventurer who ever lived. Defeated by a slime," Kirara said, hooking an arm under one of mine. Hanako had the other.

"S-shut up! I didn't think it would just explode when I hit it!"

"Maybe next time you shouldn't hit things you've never seen before."

"I thought it would be an easy win."

"Don't worry Chris-sama," Lamp said, patting me on the back, "I thought you were really cool."

Hanako ruffled my hair. "Now that you know what they do, the next time you fight one will be a piece of cake!"

"Y-yeah! Next slime we see won't know what hit it," I said. 

Kirara opened the carriage door and told me to get in. I fumbled backward before finding my footing again.

"You got hurt. Get in the back and rest for a little while," she insisted.

"Things may look bad now but I have the perfect cure-all remedy for my little injury!" I jumped into Hanako and planted my head on top of hers. "Hanako-san's hair has healing properties that you couldn't even begin to understand! It's so amazingly soft that even gods would line up to touch it!"

"What is it with you and soft things!?!"

The alcoholics and Roland left the tavern. The waitress peeped from the tavern, but she dared not go out and stop them. She heard noises and screams, and soon, Roland returned to the tavern to finish the remaining bread with dark circles around his eyes.
The waitress knew that Roland must've won, but she still chuckled at Roland's new look.
Roland was slightly bummed.
He did not receive a system notification telling him that he had claimed or accomplished a quest. It meant that the fight was not part of a quest. He felt that the test was not worth it. Although he did defeat a few drunkards, his own face was punched several times. It was not very painful, but the bruises on his face made him look rather hilarious.
Roland finished the honey bread and paid another copper for a cup of honey juice. Then, burping in satisfaction, he reached the east side of the lake, walking along the trail next to the lake.
This place was at the foot of the mountain and would be overshadowed by the mountain in the afternoon. Due to the cold and lack of sunlight, no villagers had built their houses here. So the place was empty.
Roland found it a perfect place to practice magic. He redrew the profiles of the nodes of Inferior Fireball on the sand, before he analyzed and reversely inferred them. The mathematical model was obviously helpful right now. He could have results as long as there was enough data.
Math was a compulsory class in college. Roland was not adept at it, but he had passed it anyway. He calculated for a long time and found three excellent routes of nodes, which featured speed, power, and distance respectively while guaranteeing the stability of the spell.
After he tested the three node routes, surprisingly, he received a system notification.
He had leveled up.
No glittering special effects, and no pleasant background music. He had leveled up simply and unexpectedly as that.
Roland also noticed that the icon of Inferior Fireball on Magic Book in the system now had a bright gold background and "Versed" behind it. Studying a spell could increase the experience of the game character?
That could be the only explanation.
Such a way of leveling up was indeed fit for scholar-type classes such as Mages. Roland found the game more and more interesting. The system only offered simple notifications. There were no hints of quests, mini-maps, or character profiles. Players could only see the initial attributes of their characters when the characters were built. There were no health bars or names above the NPCs' heads, either. Everything felt real.
After the level-up, Roland felt that he was slightly stronger and more flexible. But more importantly, he could sense the flow of magic in his body more clearly.
He had to cast spells consecutively to sense magic previously, but right now, he could clearly sense a comforting matter in the air, which was being absorbed into his body slowly.
That must be the elements of magic power.
What really amazed Roland was another system notification:
Dear player, you have reached Level 1 and become an official professional. The Backpack function of the system has been activated. You can use this function by reading "Backpack" in your heart. Please find out the effects of this function on your own. Have fun.
So, the system offered a Backpack. Roland clapped his hands in great delight. It was the first time he had played an immersive game, but anybody with common sense about games should know how convenient it would be to have a backpack that did not need to be carried in such a lifelike game.
Roland soon opened the Backpack according to the instructions. A translucent cubic space was unfolded before his eyes. Though it was right next to him, Roland knew that it was a projection that only he could see.
The storage of this Backpack was eight cubic meters.
It's so huge? Roland threw some stones and sand into the Backpack, before he added twigs and water. Soon, he reached a useful conclusion.
Gravity did not exist in the Backpack, which made it easier to heap items. After all, nothing would collapse if there was no gravity.
As to whether or not the Backpack could preserve food, and for how long? That required more tests to figure out.
Roland looked around. Then, he chanted the magic coordinates very quickly.

It was the optimal route of nodes for Inferior Fireball that Roland had found out through mathematical modeling. Comprehensively speaking, it had the best performance in terms of speed, power, distance, and stability.
The bright blue fireball the size of a fist dashed into the water in the lake. A few bubbles immediately popped up. Soon, three little fish floated to the surface.
Roland lifted his robe and entered the water. He threw the three silver fish into his Backpack. Those fish were stunned but still alive, but they struggled and stopped moving after they were thrown into the Backpack. They were obviously dead.
The Backpack could not keep living creatures.
Roland recorded it on his memo pad. He couldn't test the preservation abilities of the Backpack for now, but he was sure that he could find out in a day or two.
Now that he was versed in Inferior Fireball, his level had increased, and he even got an unexpected Backpack, Roland focused his attention on another level-one spell: Hand of Magic.
It was a control spell without much damage. According to its description, the spell could form an invisible hand with magic to grab objects. The size of the hand, the gripping power, and the reaching distance were related to the level of the Mage, the connection of nodes, and the amount of magic power.
Then, there were consecutive failures again… However, perhaps because he had upgraded and had a better perception of magic, he did not feel as tired and painful as he did when Inferior Fireball failed.
Therefore, Roland was soon able to draw the profiles of the nodes of Hand of Magic. It was much faster than when he analyzed Inferior Fireball.
Then, he bought more bread at Lake View Tavern, partly as supper and partly as a nighttime snack, and tossed it into his Backpack in the evening. He also bought a lamp in the tavern. After that, he spent the whole night establishing a mathematical model for Hand of Magic. Finally, when it was dawn, Roland found out the optimal route of nodes for Hand of Magic ten minutes before the game paused again.
Hand of Magic on the Magic Book was now Versed, but Roland's level did not increase this time… He estimated that it was because the experience required for the next level-up had increased, so grasping another spell was not enough for him to level up again.
