Tanaka having remembered that alcohol could be used as a disinfectant, something he had learned on TV shows about doctors, he decided to apply the sky vodka filled can on his wounds. He took the paper towels on the cutlery section of the store, poured alcohol on them and applied the papers on his bruises. The sting of alcohol was new to him and made the whole process troublesome as he wiped the sores. The last thing Tanaka wanted was getting an infection, something that had often scared him ever sense he was at Parinyenatwa hospital. The country had quite a few amazing hospitals, but in his experience, Parinyenatwa had earned the title of death hospital. Other hospitals such as Saint Anne's, West End and so forth, were to him, decent alternatives. Family members he knew who had gone there had always died, being unable to be saved by the medical staff there. In addition, the number of gaunt people waiting in line to be treated was always disturbing. The fear of getting sick made him a hygiene freak, even overshadowing his bum life persona. After applying the alcohol, Tanaka got a hold of a stack of magazines. He decided to pass the time by reading the content of the old world; binge reading through people magazine, men's fitness, Glamour and FHM. The stories of celebrities, particularly the Kardashans, and other teen star dramas in Hollywood revolted him. He skipped those sections and read on about movie releases, real life stories, fitness advice, and random articles. Tanaka was a border line close to average Joe guy, had an interest in reading books, but only books that were given to him. He wasn't the type to search or look for them passionately, but had no problem digesting the content. In the end, it was all entertainment to him. 2hours had passed as he munched through a packet of lays, browsing the content in hand. The sounds outside were still faint, almost as if they were a kilometre away from where he was. He could not hear any crawling obscenities and was happy that he was not being taunted by anything yet. The torch was mounted on top of a bread holder shelf to direct the light directly at the book. Due to its intensity, Tanaka had to place it on the shelf so that he could read properly without being blinded by the light. The women's section talked about women's periods, desires, sex stories, and so forth. The hygiene stories were gross. The stuff that women liked and their daily biological problems made them seem more human and less superficial as how some portrayed themselves in their vanity. Tanaka's comfort and reading began to make him dose off. His body was now giving in to a state of comfort and security, a dangerous complacency that was not needed in a world of darkness and despair. This was showing as he was losing his mobility, suddenly closing his eyes and dosing off. In that moment a deformed creature which had been moving in the infinite void passed by the mini supermarket. It noticed the broken glass door and saw the light. It began to sniff, smelling Tanaka's blood and natural musk. It sneaked into the store, slithering and making unusual movements as it approached the boy. The light was on the shelf and he had knocked out. The creature was planning on getting rid of the shelf and devouring the young lad. It drew nearer and nearer to its meal, going all ecstatic over the idea of relishing his flesh like early morning road kill. The boy's body was in full view and what this creature intended to do to Tanaka was something nasty. It wanted to violate him before eating him. Sowing its seed and reaping what it had sowed was its fetish. It stretched out its serrated claw like tentacles to nudge the shelf that had the torch. The small nudges which seemed like effortless exuded energy was actually moving the shelf. The first nudge made Tanaka's body fall sideways. He was still asleep, but the kind of dosing he was in was a deep lucid state that only came when someone was deprived of sleep for far too long. Tanaka had knocked out and he was at the mercy of this thing. The creature began to grin, drooling in the dark, waiting to ravish its meal. It nudged the shelf again and again, making the torch light become farther away from him. Its victory was moments away and the more it pushed the shelf the more Tanaka became reachable. One push and it would be all over. The monster mustered its final nudge, preparing to finally end Tanaka's life in a flash, but then suddenly his watch's morning alarm which had always rang to wake him up for school began to cry. The sudden noise woke Tanaka up and immediately made him rise. Upon this happening, the creature hammered all its might into the shelf, knocking it far from Tanaka's reach. Tanaka instantly reacted seeing the darkness quickly engulf his field of vision. The torch and the furniture holding it had flown ahead, leaving him stranded in the pitch black. Tanaka heard a crash and destruction of wood, which give him great distress. All that crossed his mind was whether the torch had been destroyed or not. He then sprinted forwards, chasing the white dot he could see in his now darkness engrossed field of vision, but what prompted him to run faster was the sound of a diabolical depravity pursuing him from behind, gnashing its teeth as it lusted for his flesh. Tanaka was going to die; this was going to be the end of the young man's life.

 

 

Tanaka ran in the dark, blind as a mole, but without any excellent hearing to compensate for his disadvantage. His feet bumped into a lot of things, things that grazed his legs, but did not slow down his determination. The creature behind him was breathing heavily like an asthma attack victim, shrilling its voice in the formless night. Tanaka dived into the debris, getting stabbed by a piece of wood, which lodged onto his left forearm, causing him to ooze lots of blood. His right hand's fingers struggled through the debris of what was left of the shelf and managed to get hold of his torch. Upon getting hold of it, he quickly turned to face the bizarre monstrosity on top of him. He pointed the torch directly at it and took in the very thing that accentuated ugliness with his eyes. The abomination had erected its corrosive, anvil like, frothing phallus to violate him. Its tip and shaft were like a bleeding drill, dripping pus and tiny bloody miniscule foetuses that were speaking an unknown language, something similar to how candle wax melted upon contact with a flame. Its abdomen was that of an amphibian with pimple like mumps, the ones you would find on an ebola victim. Its head was that of an encapsulated ball of putrid flesh, straight out of the frying pan of hell. It was a despicable entity that scared the shit out of Tanaka. It even had the audacity to wiggle its abscess like mouth to utter its intentions.

 

"CHILD LET ME FUCK YOU!!!!"

 

Tanaka screamed out loud, devoured by fear, which had regurgitated his body, restoring him back to the reality that had crippled his mind. The creature, which was on top of him suddenly exploded. It turned into liquid ash and ended up spoiling his entire body. Tanaka cried and panted at the fact that the creature had died, but he had no time to celebrate, the death of this being had attracted a lot of its friends. The horde of demons and unintelligent voices began to shatter the air waves. Tanaka who was stricken in fear also remembered the pain of his left forearm. He rose up from his position and ran towards the cutlery section. Seeing his own blood was scaring him and the fear of bleeding to death was dawning on him. He took the table cloth, plucked out the wood lodged in his left forearm and began to scream. The pain was excruciating indeed, it felt like the pain of a groin being repeatedly shot at by a nail gun. Tanaka removed the wood and felt the warmth of his own blood trickle down his fingers and torch. He applied the paper towel and opened the fridge to grab more vodka. He poured loads of it onto his wound and then wrapped a dish towel onto his wound. The pain made him cry, but what made him evoke more tears was the realisation that there was something inside the ceiling. The very thought of what was coming gave him hyper tension. It was now time to abandon ship and Tanaka did not waste time. His exhaustion was overpowered by his will to live, making him jump out via the glass door he had broken. He sprinted aimlessly, using his torch to direct him in the darkness. Every area he pointed at reviewed disturbing imagery of unspeakable proportions. Tanaka ended up turning right; passing the travel plaza mini-mall that was adjacent to the mini supermarket that he came from. In his sudden burst of speed, Tanaka only had one thing in mind, to survive. He ran and ran until he took a regretful step. Tanaka who was in the heat of the moment had not directed his torch to the ground soon enough to save himself from the impending doom. He simply ran blindly into a pit, which had many horrors lying before him. Tanaka tumbled down an inclined heap of bloody and mutilated corpses, all stacked up to portray a twisted version of the human stair case. Regardless of his fall, he held his torch tightly, but fortunately, the bruises he got from the tumble didn't give him much pain. He quickly picked himself up and assessed the situation. What he realised was that he was in a valley like field of dead bodies, all mutilated and pruned like crushed hazel nuts. At the centre of this pit were demons dragging and mounting the dead bodies in a pile, like a coliseum of corpses all viewing the young Tanaka in distress. The creatures doing their gathering job soon took notice of Tanaka and began to draw near him. The fiends all crawled and marched slowly, closing in on the child and destroying all form of hope in him. Tanaka stood there, baffled in utter stupefication. This was the end, it was a good ride, or rather a nightmare, but he had tried his best to survive. The acceptance of death had flooded Tanaka's mind, an inundation of surrender and loss of will power, but somehow his fear surprisingly turned into rage, a hatred of what was giving him fear. Driven mad, the boy could no longer handle his despair anymore. He picked up a femur on the ground that still had its tendons and began to glance at his surrounding adversaries. They were all uglier than their next of kin. Tanaka glared like a mad dog, waving the bone violently as if he was intending to kill one of them. The world had gone to shit, but he was not going to go down without swinging.

"Come at me you bastards! Come you bastards! Come on, come!!!"

Tanaka Manyika was a Zimbabwean form 4 student in his 2nd term of study, and  like every other kid his age, he wanted to pass his end of year exams and move on with his life. However on one particular night his parents and his sister were brutally murdered by two strange men. This was only the beginning to a horrific nightmare; the coming of the apocalypse of infinite darkness was upon him. In that despondent world where everyone in the dark is subjected to despicable mutilation by the creatures of the unknown, Tanaka only has a torch as his arsenal, the only tangible form of light in a world consumed by darkness. Can he survive the end of the world and be the haven of others in despair or will he eventually fall prey to the hopelessness of the world?

Rhode sat before his desk in his calm, usual self while tossing about the letter as though he were bored to death. However, everyone who entered this room felt that there was an unusually tense atmosphere.
Canary and Mini Bubble Gum sat by the side quietly. The former was focused on reading poetry while the latter was swaying her legs and admiring the scenery through the window. Like Rhode, both of them knew the developments of the current and future of the Munn Kingdom inside-out. But probably because Canary and Mini Bubble Gum weren't actual humans at this point, they seemed to be disinterested in the fate of the war that was about to start on this continent. Of course, perhaps they chose to ignore this since they knew that they were helpless in these situations.
Meanwhile, Lize sat down restlessly. She didn't know why Rhode gathered everyone because of just a mercenary. Moreover, Rhode rarely revealed such tense emotions and she had seen the wax seal on the letter. No matter what, Lize was once the Princess of the King's Party and she remembered the imprint distinctly.
Lize concluded that this matter must have something to do with the King's Party or Sister Lydia. However, there was nothing else to support her guesses.
Shauna and Walker's arrival broke the silence in the room. "Hey, Kid. You summoned me right after you came back. Can't you respect your elders a little?" Old Walker entered the room in big strides and placed the thick layer of papers on the table with a bam. "This is what you wanted and I've filtered most of them out. To be frank, I don't know what you are gonna do with these. But I can guarantee that these sources came from Shawn and my reliable network, so there are no problems at all."
"Good," Rhode nodded before gesturing to Shauna and Marlene to enter the room and close the door. Rhode began to explain after the group settled down. "I guess everyone must be wondering why I've gathered you here. Also, I think you people are smart enough to know that something has happened… As a matter of fact, there is indeed an emergency."
"What is it?" Old Walker frowned while Rhode placed the letter on the table. It was a letter written on a fine, white paper and wrapped in a flawless envelope inlaid with golden outlines that formed an eye-catching badge on the surface.
Double-sword Angels.
"Just a while ago, we've received a mission from the King's Party." Rhode picked up the letter. "And we, Starlight, are going to take over this mission."
"We?" In an instant, one could cut the air with a knife. Lize held her hands firmly while staring at the letter in Rhode's hand. Marlene's brows twitched slightly while her head was filled with complicated thoughts. Meanwhile, Gillian, Canary, and Mini Bubble Gum remained unconcerned. On the contrary, Old Walker and Shauna's eyes sparkled with passionate radiance. As senior mercenaries, they knew that the King's Party had become a strong supporter of Starlight since they had entrusted them with this mission. Although the King's Party's mission wouldn't be recorded in the Mercenary Association's books due to classified information, the guild would still receive huge remunerations in terms of wealth and political aid. The financially inferior Purple Lily and Cole Falcon were able to stand their ground against the Liberty Wings and Sky Sword all these years due to the political resources received from the King's Party. If Rhode's Starlight could receive equal treatment from the King's Party, this would be extremely advantageous for Starlight.
But one needed to work for it first because it wasn't easy to gain the trust of the King's Party… Old Walker and Shauna gazed at Rhode with much more respect. After all, the King's Party's missions were usually top secrets and unless it was one's trusted aide, one would never tell anyone. Therefore, both Walker and Shauna were more than content that Rhode was willing to let them in on this matter.
This showed that their hard work had paid off.
"Shauna." Rhode ignored their gazes and gave his orders. "We will leave the Fortress for the time being, so I hope you will manage the Stronghold on the other side well. Also, I heard that the Southerners are getting restless and this isn't a good sign. You can seek help from Canary and Mini Bubble Gum if there's anything wrong.
"Yes, Sir Rhode." Shauna nodded while Rhode shifted his attention to Old Walker. "Mr. Walker, I need you to head out personally to gather intel in the borders between the Country of Light and the Munn Kingdom. I want to know what the Country of Light is up to all this while… Remember, you need to report back to Canary immediately no matter what happens. You will take her instructions from then on; are there any issues with this?"
"The borders between the Country of Light and the Munn Kingdom? This is a huge project, Kid." Old Walker pondered for a moment. He lifted his head and gazed at Rhode sharply before shifting his attention on Canary. Then, the old man squinted his eyes and stood up. "Alright, is that all? I'll head off now and as long as you are not afraid of being crushed to death by all the lies and slanders, I don't have anything to be worried about."
Old Walker patted Shauna's shoulder as he spoke. "There's nothing left for us now; let's go."
"Alright, Mr. Walker," Shauna stood up and bowed towards Rhode respectfully before leaving the room.
Rhode paused for a few moments and turned his gaze towards the remaining people.
"The next matter will be about the mission content." Rhode pointed to the letter and knitted his brows. "This mission will be very troublesome and I will bring forth all my trustworthy aides: in other words, Marlene, Anne, and Lize. All of you must be prepared to head into Soraka Mountain with me."
"What about the Fortress?" Marlene asked anxiously as she was worried that the operations of the Fortress would be in chaos if both Rhode and herself weren't present to oversee it. However, even so, Marlene sensed that this mission must be unusual because Rhode didn't bring her along for the 5 Star Mission previously. Could it be that the enemies this time were much tougher?
"Leave the Fortress in Canary's hands for the time being. She was once…" Rhode paused and gazed at the young lady who was immersed in reading. Sensing Rhode's gaze, Canary lifted her head and smiled gently in response while nodding. "… my adjutant and she is capable of managing it."
"…" Marlene felt a tug at her heartstrings as she gazed at Canary while biting her lips subconsciously. At the same time, an unusually complicated emotion filled with frustration, hesitation, pain, joy, and guilt hit her hard. Marlene knew about Canary's past and because of this, she felt exceptionally conflicted after hearing Rhode's words. After all, no matter what, Canary and Rhode seemed much more suitable as a couple. Canary was beautiful, gentle, and extremely likable and even though she didn't have an illustrious family background, she possessed much more strength than Marlene. Judging from Canary's behavior, it seemed that she fancied Rhode a lot too. Furthermore, Rhode's words suggested that Canary had once stood by his side and assisted him greatly. But it was a pity that this young lady was only an illusion of her soul.
But this was also something worth being happy about…
Marlene shuddered. "I understand, Rhode. I will hand over the operations of the Fortress to Miss Canary after the preparations are done. But… where are we heading for this mission?"
"Soraka Mountain," replied Rhode.
"Soraka?!" Marlene stood on her feet and a look of astonishment was displayed on her face. Lize observed her reactions and asked with uncertainty. "Marlene, what kind of place is Soraka Mountain? Do you know?"
"Of course I know…" Marlene nodded and calmed herself down before explaining to Lize. "Soraka Mountain is located on a rare, stable point in the intersection between the Country of Darkness and Country of Light. That place has an abundance of minerals and is filled with magical crystal minerals. The Country of Darkness and Country of Light once broke out in a long war over it and later on, as both sides got into a deadlock, they decided to stop the war after days of negotiations. The Soraka Mountain was then entrusted to the faithful followers of the Light Dragon and at the same time, put into the safekeeping of the Munn Kingdom that maintained a good relationship with the Country of Darkness. Of course, even though the Munn Kingdom was there to safekeep the place, they were only monitoring from the sides. Therefore, both sides decided that Soraka Mountain would be preserved in the form of an independent dominion. Due to this, Soraka Mountain manages to survive between the Country of Darkness and Country of Light… Moreover, armies and officials of both countries can't enter Soraka Mountain territory without prior notice because it would be seen by the other side as the annexation of Soraka Mountain."
Marlene paused and turned her gaze towards Rhode with knitted brows. "Since the King's Party ordered us to carry out a mission in Soraka Mountain, that would mean…"
"Yes, there are signs of unrest in Soraka Mountain." Rhode nodded slightly, at the same time knocking on the letter that was on the table. "Royal Highness Lydia has explained the ongoings in this letter. Rumor has it that some people in Soraka Mountain tried to seek protection from the Dark Dragon. Therefore, Royal Highness Lydia demands an investigation and she entrusted Viktor and his Cole Falcon Guild with it."
Initially, Rhode was dissatisfied that Royal Highness Lydia didn't choose him for this mission. However, come to think of it, it went without saying that the ruler would trust their closest followers rather than a new strength that had just joined them. Coincidentally, the Chairman and his group of members encountered a raid just a few days ago," Rhode paused for a moment. "A raid from the Country of Light."
"What?!" Lize and Anne exclaimed in shock while Marlene's expression sunk. "Anne doesn't understand… Didn't that Chairman prevent the entirety of Soraka Mountain from relying on the Country of Darkness? So why did the people from the Country of Light ambush them instead?"
"Because this is beneficial to the Country of Light," Rhode shrugged his shoulders. "A long time ago, the treaty that both sides signed stated that Soraka Mountain must remain neutral. Once the Soraka Mountain Parliament decides to seek protection from the Country of Darkness, it will mean that they have violated the treaty. As a result, the bunch of idiots from the Country of Light Parliament will then be able to attack Soraka Mountain and snatch their mouthwatering meal 'rightfully'."
"B-But…" Lize stuttered in panic. Although she was a princess, she had separated herself from politics and lived as an ordinary mercenary for a long time. For her to be involved in this complicated political conflict that might escalate into a war was too much. "Since Soraka Mountain sought protection from the Country of Darkness, wouldn't the Country of Darkness protect them even if the Country of Light were to attack? In the end, both sides will start a comprehensive war… Haven't they thought of this?"
"They have definitely thought of this, but they insisted to do so," Rhode picked up the intel that Old Walker had left on the table. "Next year will be an election year for the Country of Light Parliament. Furthermore, there was the Trade Route incident that affected them considerably even though it was resolved in the end. As a result, the Country of Light's Parliament Chairman's reputation has declined greatly and his chances of continuing in office are very slim. If the news of Soraka Mountain seeking protection from the Country of Darkness leaks, he still stands a chance to regain his citizens' trust by toughening out his stance over it. Soraka Mountain contains an abundance of crystal minerals and it will, in turn, resolve the Country of Light's financial problems. Moreover, the new heir to the Country of Darkness has only stepped in for a few years and the Country of Light Parliament is confident that the new heir lacks the guts to take drastic actions against them. Back then, the signing of the treaty for Soraka Mountain between the Country of Darkness and Country of Light was done under the attention of the Judgement & Ruling Twin Dragons. Therefore, during times of necessity, the Country of Light Parliament can use the Country of Law as a trump card to establish their legitimacy."
Although this might appear only a possibility to the ordinary person, Rhode was sure that the Country of Light's Parliament plotted the scheme to use Soraka Mountain as the point of penetration. However, the Country of Light's Parliament didn't expect that the situation would develop towards a different direction entirely. On the contrary, it opened a pressure valve for the Country of Darkness that was trying to balance the old and new forces within its country. Thereafter, the Country of Law sunk into a strange silence and they didn't emerge to uphold justice as the Country of Light's Parliament had anticipated. In the end, the Country of Light's Parliament's intentions in using Soraka Mountain to ensure its political status and also crack down on the Country of Darkness and the Munn Kingdom turned into a silly scheme. As a result, the Country of Darkness dominated and the Country of Light even gave their Light Dragon Soul to their enemy… It was rare to see humans this dumb, or perhaps, it was rare for one to even be brainwashed or self-hypnotized to this point.
"So then, our mission is to…" Marlene questioned anxiously.
"Fortunately, the Country of Light's soldiers that ambushed the Chairman's group didn't reveal their identities. On the other hand, Viktor's group seized the opportunity to protect the Chairman's group. But, even so, they are still in grave trouble. Royal Highness Lydia has ordered us to rescue the Chairman's group that is trapped in Soraka Mountain and escort them back before the Soraka Mountain Parliament begins," explained Rhode.

Inside a office inside a base somewhere where, even I, the fourth wall breaking author doesn't know the exact location is, was the old trio.

Crux, was on his knees and was talking to a pair of voices, which seemed to be a bit young belonging to a male and female behind a black curtain.

The voices seemed quite mad but at the same time utterly amazed at Crux's stupidity.

It was as if they don't remember him being that stupid.

"Sigh... Sigh..."
"Gemi, you're just saying the word again."
"I can't help it Nii! And that was yesterday! They only let us know of it today!"
"I know the feeling. Let's give him a pay cut."
"Let's."
"Waaaaiiiiit!!!"

When Crux heard the two voices discussing about a possible pay cut for him, he immediately groveled on the floor, and bowed until his head was touching the floor.

"I am sorry for my incompetent performance, and I deservethe cruelest from of punishment, but lease not a pay cut!! Anything but that!!!!!!!!"

Leo and Altair who were watching the spectacle of Crux while comfortably sitted on a sofa in the room, felt pity at their respectable (nope) leader.

"Umm... Gemi, why don't you lessen the punishment, even a little bit?"
"A-Altair's right... Gemi, Mini, cut him some slack."

The voices behind the curtain fell silent at Leo and Altair's persuasion.

"... I have a soft spot for gentle tough guys."
"... And I treasure family."

The voices behind the curtain said with their tones softening a bit. But, a soccer ball then caused the curtain to fall down somehow, the cruel answer came from their mouths.

And then what appeared after the curtains fell was a pair of twins both situated on top of swivel chairs. A boy and a girl who seemed to be a bout 12 years old or so.

They shared the same color as Altair and had mint green eyes. Their faces looked the exact same and they had black metal frames around their face ,but what they were wearing screamed anything but homogeneous.

The boy was wearing a pair of black cargo pants and long sleeved formal military uniform. He was also wearing black combat boots that he didn't mind wearing all the time.

The girl, however, was wearing a long, white labcoat, a black turtle neck underneath and a pair of denim shorts with black thigh high socks and a pair of rubber shoes.

The boy sat with one of his legs crossed against the other one while the girl was sitting cross-legged on the chair.

Both of their headphone wires were let out, as if they didn't care what happened to it despite it being a part of their body.

"ACK!"

Crux exclaimed after the soccer ball ended up hitting his head, causing him to stumble and fall on his back.

"Sis, you really sure about making this dude you're fiancé?"
"He has his good points but he doesn't seem that reliable anymore."

Altair sheepishly smiled at the two who were siblings.

"Gemi, you're a nice girl and I thank you for your concern, but Mini, don't badmouth him please."

Mini gave Altair a weird stare with his eyebrow raised while Gemi got off her chair and then put one of her headphone jacks to Crux's wrist and pressed on an icon that appeared within her vision.

A few screens appeared within her green eyes, with information regarding a person's health such as their pulse, heart beat and other medical stuff that doctors have to deal with.

She then swiped them away after reading the details and stood up again.

"Well, if you still want to marry him, make sure he stops doing stupid things."
"Gemi, please don't call your future brother-in-law stupid. That's rude."
"It's a miracle on how neither me or Gemi have sweared at the guy yet."

While the siblings were having this conversation, Leo was silently poking Crux's face, as if to check he was still alive despite getting Gemi's okay.

He then lifted up his face and opened his mouth to speak.

"....Zana Zohari athlete of the school and sports lady..." a dark cocoa chocolate skin lady emerged her hair was braided and was held back by a silver mini chain entwined with a white ribbon, her body was toned and her waist was defined her eyes were honey brown,Xavier had craned his neck and had turned bright pink just by starring at her,"...Hexa Dolores the best dancer and drama Queen of the school..." Chanor was about to look away when from the corner of his eye she emerged, her hair was free and unruly thick and adorned with sexy black curls her body was busty caramel and toned ,her eyes were dark hazel brown and yes they had locked eyes as she was walking down the petal, her hair bouncing behind her she calmly looked away and kept on walking,"...Trina Ming yu valedictorian,technocrat and leader in the building of our vessel ..."a sexy slim milk white  lady emerged she had fair oak brown dark hair she walked in calculated steps making her appear elite and focused,  Mike who was looking at her felt like he was at home with her presences and smiled,"...lastly the student leader and the lady of all hours Briela Sparks ..." the was a round of applause from the girls and the boys started to join , in Ryan's eyes  she emerged ,she was a blond beauty with blue eyes she was slender and around her was authority, grace and glow of beauty ...he hadn't noticed but he was walking towards her and they met  at the foot of the petal, her eyes met his and he was blown away,"uhmm am Ryan..." he said stretching out his hand to her ,she looked at his hand and smiled,turned and left ,and in her place Fr Honto came and said " the man doesn't give the hand ...you screwed up big time..."

Bai jie was moving around here and there in the village remembering the ways and roads. He came across many people on the way. 
There were many houses but mostly built of wood. he saw many types of livestock and animals which were completely different for example there was a chicken but with only one big eye like a cyclops and many carriages with horses like animals tied to them with six legs and much bigger than regular horses he had seen back on earth. 
" This world is beautiful hee-hee" mumbled bai jie. he was looking from a corner of a street. he had found a great place also known as a heaven for men. 
" No no bai jie an upright man like you shouldn't go to these places you have a beautiful wife.," mumbled a mini bai jie on his right shoulder a holy light was emitting from it while on the other side was dark red mini bai jie with a lecherous smile on his face. bai jie had been standing in this street corner for more than half an hour fighting the battle of his so-called inner demons. 
" Bai jie why to feel so scared let's go in she won't even know " said the dark red mini bai jie. 
While bai jie was skimming the village he also noticed a peculiar thing. There was a very low number of males in comparison to females. 
But he didn't understand the reason for it. So bai jie had been eating those truth pills he got from the Lin guy. after popping 5- 6 pills he could see those little versions of himself. he was laughing here and there like an idiot.

" You bastard you laughing at me come down kneel down I might spare you," said the red-dressed woman. But before she could say anything Bai jie disappeared like wind there was no trace of him anymore. 
" Come here you bastard I will find you and make you suffer for this humiliation. " the woman roared at top of her lungs. 
" ahh, daughter what happend to you why are you shouting so much. " A middle-aged woman came down from the building of heavenly pavilion. the building was well but with three floors with beautiful decoration. 
" Mother capture the dammed fellow he was just standing on the house. " said the red-dressed lady. she looked to be a teenager. 
The middle-aged woman looked around the house she could see the footprints on the house. but they suddenly disappeared. it sent shiver down her back. she released her cultivation immediately scanning the surrounding with her senses but didn't find anything. which verified her doubts even more 
' It was a shadow ' a thought came into her mind. she knew secrets many people didn't only a qi gathering experts could escape from her with her 9th mortal stage cultivation. 

" No One was here it was just your imagination," said the middle-aged woman dismissing everything. 
" mother I saw this man really he was very weird I heard him talking to himself while he was looking at the females of our heavenly court he was laughing while he praising his own wife being more beautiful I thought it was very cute at first but as time passed he started blowing his own horn of how he is a Supreme evil lord I heard everything it was too disgusting " raged the woman in red dress. " I will find him and make him suffer. "
" Bing'er don't you dare defy me " roared the middle-aged woman.  she knew what kind of people these shadows were they can count as one of the most powerful organizations in the barbarian lands but they were the most fearsome. 
" Mother you " Han bing didn't understand why was her mother behaving like this. She had lived her whole life like a princess she could have anything she wanted as long she didn't cross the line but now her mother won't even let her capture a mortal for revenge. 
while the other girls were making guesses they also saw a young man standing up on the house. 
" I Han yu declare that anyone found talking about this incident will immediately be killed," said Han yu in a loud voice while releasing her cultivation. 
Everything went quiet no one willing to go against this lady. 
Han bing was looking at her mother with an odd expression she didn't say anything and went inside the building with her. 

" ahh what happend here," said the young man with two following him. it was the young master Xie that bai jie met with ling tian. 
" Ohh it's young master Xie so you still remember us " a woman voiced in coquettishly. This was regular so many women knew him. 
" of course I remember but I am here for miss bing today I brought many gifts for her.  but my subordinates here also need someone to accompany them. " replied young master Xie with a smile. 
 "yes yes sure. " few women grouped towards them. while they all went into heavenly pavilion.

Bai jie had run away as soon as he sensed the presence of a cultivator. he didn't want to create any trouble. he looked at his left shoulder and said " it was your fault you bastard. " 
while the little red bai jie had an innocent expression. ' what did I do if you'd have gone in we could have relished this night. I am you so you are also a bastard. '
Bai jie slapped his face many times until both of his mini versions disappeared. while he was running without any sense of direction. he reached a familiar place it was a book store he had seen when he came with Alice. 
He saw the old woman still reading books very peacefully. No one came to her shop it was empty while other shops had few customers.
Bai jie knew this type of person who would open a book store and read books because they love reading them. He also liked to read books of different kinds . Books were the best source of information.

Brianna is eyeing herself in the mirror. The silky cream shirt and green summer knee-length skirt are light and perfect for summer, and just her size.
What is she doing in Quentin's apartment? She is not sure herself.
Last night Quentin suggested that she stays at his place. It sounded practical and he also taunted her, and she would be lying if she said that she was not hoping for a steamy night because no matter how much she is trying to avoid Quentin, Brianna is aware that he is almost impossible to resist. Almost.
Bri texted Liz that she will stay at Quentin's place and other than one 'OK' (a few hours later), Liz didn't say anything. Well, Liz was never the nosy one. This time, Bri was happy that she didn't need to inform Mia about this change in sleeping arrangements because Mia would definitely tease her.
When they arrived at Quentin's apartment, he gestured toward the guest bedroom door. "You will find everything you need in there. If you get hungry or thirsty during the night, help yourself with whatever you find in the kitchen."
Quentin didn't linger. After drinking a glass of water, he went to the master bedroom, leaving Brianna in the living room with: "Have a good night".
Brianna observed the living room and noticed a few changes. The magazines were gone. She wondered, did he remove them due to her leaving the last time she was in his apartment? She dispelled that thought because, how would Quentin know what triggered her to leave? And even if he knew, that is not the reason to remove them.
Brianna got in the guest bedroom and she saw several outfits neatly arranged on the bed. There were a nightgown and underwear as well. Everything was from high-end brands, with tags still on, so Brianna knew that no one wore them before and that they are probably purchased for her because they are her size and they had that fresh-out-of-store scent lingering. She wondered if Quentin went with this approach because of the designer's dress he gave her last time which was previously worn by a model he hooked up with. Again, she caught herself making ridiculous assumptions. Is it possible that he is so observant and that he cares so much?
The bathroom had luxury toiletries for females and the bedsheets were crisp and lavender scented.
Somehow, Brianna knew that Kendra (aka his assistant) prepared these on short notice because there is no way that Quentin knew in advance that Brianna will stay overnight, right?
The troubling thing is that Brianna was unable to sleep for more than a series of brief naps. Part of her hoped that Quentin will come to her room and she fought her urges to go into his… and she managed to stay in her room on sheer stubbornness. 
Back to the present…
Brianna is hoping that her face will not show her lack of sleep or her confusion with the current situation. If Quentin had no intention for this to end up with a steamy night, why did he invite her? It's not possible that he did it out of the kindness of his heart, or because he wants them to be friends. Bri was not sure what to make out of all this.
Brianna got out of the bedroom and found Quentin in the dining room. 
He is sitting at the table filled with breakfast items and looking at his tablet. Based on the glasses he is wearing, Brianna guessed that he is reading. She didn't know that he wears glasses; they make him look more… scholarly.
Quentin lifted his gaze and gave her a quick look over his glasses. "Good morning. I hope you slept well."
"Good morning. It was OK.", she responded and hoped that he will not call out her obvious lie.
His lips raised in a small smile. "I'm glad the clothes fit you well."
"Yes. Thank you."
Seeing that she is standing in front of him awkwardly, Quentin gestured toward the seat on his side. "Help yourself…" And then his gaze moved back to the tablet in his hand.
Brianna took her seat and observed that other than toasted bread, pastries, and a variety of spreads, there are mini-sandwiches, quiche, and fruits, and there are orange juice, milk, and coffee as well.
"Do you always have so many choices for breakfast?", Bri asked while pouring coffee for herself.
"No. I was not sure what you feel like eating, so I've got more than usually.", Quentin responded without lifting his gaze.
"Kendra brought these?", Brianna asked.
"Mhm...", Quentin confirmed with a hum.
"Does she always bring you breakfast?"
"No. I usually eat at the office, and on non-working days I manage. I called her for this because you are visiting.", he explained while giving her a super-quick glance.
"It's a holiday. Doesn't she mind?"
Quentin shrugged. "It's her job."
Brianna took a sip of the coffee before adding cream.
"What is so interesting?", she asked while craning her neck to see the tablet. Part of her was irked that Quentin is ignoring her. OK, not ignoring, but he is acting like whatever is there is more interesting than she is, and he is not showing the courtesy of talking to his guest.
"Reports on the effect of our latest marketing campaign.", Quentin said while allowing her to see a number of graphs with explanations under them.
Brianna had difficulty seeing him as a hardworking guy. "Do you always work on holidays?"
"I work when it's needed. We acquired a publishing company last week and are expanding our online presence. I am tasked to make sure everything runs smoothly. This is real-time data from my marketing department, and I can't leave this for after the holiday, because if our ads are hitting the wrong customer base, we will lose a lot of money in the next few days. The trend from the last five years shows that people shop from fifteen to twenty-five percent more during the Fourth of July holidays compared to their shopping habits on regular days."
"Oh…", a sound escaped Bri's lips.
"You sound surprised.", Quentin voiced his observation.
"I just thought…", Brianna was unable to finish her sentence because she realized that it can't end well.
However, Quentin finished it for her: "You thought that my job is to attend photo shoots and seduce models. As you can see, I do much more than that."
Brianna kept the coffee mug on the table and looked at him like a child who was wronged. "Why are you like that?"
Quentin was half-amused while wondering if she is sulking for real or faking it. In either case, he found her little pout adorable. "I apologize. It was not my intention to be rude. Like most people, I tend to get defensive when others make assumptions about me. Please, enjoy your breakfast."
Brianna saw that Quentin's attention went back to the tablet and she understood that this is where the chit-chat ends.
She took a toast and applied strawberry jam on it.
Bri ate in silence while her gaze drifted to Quentin often. He had a serious expression on, which went very well with his thin-framed glasses. She found him to be nice to look at. More than nice. Attractive and sexy… and she was back to finding him to be irresistible.
After an unknown measure of time, Quentin kept the tablet on the side, removed his glasses, and refilled his cup with coffee.
"What are your plans for the day?", Quentin asked.
Brianna blinked, surprised by this question. Why does it sound like she should have plans separate from his? Is he telling her to eat and leave?
"I'm not sure. I thought that I will be at Liz's place and I relied that she will come up with things to do. Even if we don't go anywhere, we spend time chatting. Coming here was unexpected, so I don't have any plans.", she admitted.
Brianna looked at Quentin who nodded and didn't say anything else while picking a mini-sandwich. Her frustration bubbled. What's with that silence? She had to ask: "What about you?"
Quentin looked at her and responded flatly: "There is no right answer to that question. If I tell you what I usually would do, without including you, I will appear rude. And if I come up with something that includes you, you will call me clingy and push me away."
Bri found him borderline unpleasant. "Why are you like that?"
"Honest?"
Brianna pressed her lips into a line and thought how this reminds her of their initial interactions. At that time, Quentin said that she is bashing him and hurting his feelings, and she responded how she is only telling the truth. Is it possible that the tables have turned like that?
"Why did you invite me?", she mustered courage to ask.
Quentin looked at her with amusement apparent in his eyes. "What do you think?"
After a second of hesitation, Bri decided to tell him what is on her mind: "I don't know what to think. Last night I thought that you want us to spend the night together, but by now I realized that my assumption was wrong."
Quentin's eyebrows went up in slow motion. "What would you do if I came to your room last night?"
Brianna opened her mouth and realized that she is unable to speak. Her heart thumped wildly and with every beat it was traveling higher up her chest, throat, threatening to come out. She closed her mouth and lowered her head.

Max was confused. "Aren't you appalled by my words? Offended? Why are you still here and not running to your place?"
Liz shrugged. "Last night you promised no lies. And I hope that you are comfortable enough with me to say what is on your mind. No matter if you are gay or not, the fact that I feel safe with you will not change. Unless you do something to prove me wrong."
Max was surprised by this logic. But then he remembered the deal they made: he will not lie, no games and he will treat her with respect… and she believes him.
"You want to know what is on my mind?" He decided to try his luck: "I want to kiss you."
Liz frowned for a second while thinking how to respond. Then she craned her neck and pointed at her cheek. "Here."
Max was not sure if he should laugh or cry. "That is not the kiss I was going for."
"That is the only one you will get. Take it or leave it."
Max is not silly to miss an opportunity. "I will take whatever you are willing to give me."

I was made to apologize but I refused to do so because I did nothing wrong. Screw her, I have nothing to apologize for and I am not bowing my head to someone else who is weaker than myself. 

= "I will not lower my head to someone who is in the wrong. Such a foolish act is something should only be done by buffoons who have no spine." =

I refused to apologize and Solstice insisted on making me apologize, we were now stuck in a loop that will not be resolved until one of us bends. The person who will bend over will not be me. 

Solstice was angered by my actions and punished me by staying in the orphanage's library where the books and knowledge book was kept. I was ecstatic by this punishment.

Solstice wanted to have the three boys I punished follow me in the library, I think she is hoping to see if we can work things out. I think that would be an impossible task. Or something on that line. 

= "You boys will be spending the night together in the library and reflect on what you did. Try to escape and you will get no breakfast." =

I was led in a library and the three boys followed me. Solstice asked us to get along before leaving us alone. I threatened the three to not make a ruckus else I will make them shut their mouths. 

Someone shouted back and asked me threateningly, = "Or what? You dirty half-breed!" =

I punched him and knocked him out cold, but he dared cold me dirt and I added a kick on the abdomen. 

He resembled a cooked prawn after that and the other two dragged the other one's body away in fear of receiving my fist. 

It was on the day that I learned of what a library is that I found something that truly interested me. 

Although there were things I have already learned in both the hospital and through the World Cube. 

I began to read anyway, the books I read consists of stories about people who called themselves as [Seekers]. 

Seekers were people who gathered in a place called a [Seeker Union] or [Seeker Guild]. 

Many famous Seekers had their stories written on books, it was enjoyable to read and imaging their adventures.

People who called themselves mages interested me even more.

Beings who can control the four fundamental elements of the world to cast a spell and inflict injuries to their enemies with space in between them.

The complicated and elegant way of using one's mind to plan ahead before using a spell. The delicate way of implementing spells in different situations.

It was wondrous and I was drawn to these stories, and before long, the night became day and I had to do my task before continuing my reading session. 

After learning of storybooks, I yearned for them more and more. 

And with dozens of books and not one child wanting to read them, I found myself reading a book all by myself, only moving away when I need to eat, take a bath, poop, piss, and do finish my tasks. 

I will also be forced to go to my room and sleep at night which displeased me. 

I wanted to read these storybooks, the orphanage had what you call a light bulb that could light up a whole room.

Back when I used to live with Von, the only light we had was a lamp so it made it hard for me to read. But with the bright and wondrous light bulb, I could read like it was daytime.

But because of my curfew, it was almost impossible for me to read at night as much as I would want. So, I device a plan that could let me read as much as I wanted. 

That plan was simple, I beat up the three boys and I would be sent to the library to reflect. I nodded my head and implemented the plan and beat the three boys for two days straight and gained access to the library at night by using this method. 

But after I beat the three boys a third time, the plan did not work and I was busted. 

I gained no entry to the library that night and the boys were beaten up by me for nothing. What could have they done to suffer such injustice? 

For their sacrifice to be in vain, it was such a sad sight. 

But Solstice did have enough of me acting like so and she learned of my intentions. So, she gave me the right to enter the library whenever I wanted to. 

But not that night because that night, I was punished to go to sleep early and forget about books. 

Coming back to the present time. I now gain access to the library and I now finish every storybook inside the library. I moved into reading books about spells and mages rather than stories about them.

Now, I want to become a mage myself. So, I opened a book about mages and read through the fundamentals of becoming a mage. 

In the seventh month of the year 982 N.E, a full year after I arrived in the orphanage, I finished all the books yet gained useless information about mages. 

In the past year I spent in the Shining Sun Orphanage, I became recluse and my distance towards the other children increased. Which was both a shame and something good?

It was a shame because I think I finally downed my smile and my attitude towards socialization. And good because I could focus on my study of magic and spells. 

But even after a year of researching and trying different methods. I failed to make a connection with any of the four elements, [Fire], [Water], [Wind], and [Earth].

It was tough for me to make a connection with them because of something peculiar. 

A child that awakens as a mage will already make a connection with an element once they create their Mana Core. The instant a Mana Core was created, they will automatically be connected to the element they have the highest affinity.

It is at this time where one of the more old ways of measuring one's talents comes to light. 

Any child that awakens will connect to at least one of the four fundamental elements, but because I already have a Mana Core when I awaken, it seems like I am a rare case. 

I had not said anything about having mana to Solstice, I do not want to attract attention to myself. I had learned many things on stories I have read and many of their stupid mistakes was showing off when they had no strength or backing to protect themselves. 

Bottom line is, I am in a tough position where I have to figure out a way how I can make a connection.

A month passed and I am still left with no solution, at this point of time, a young man came into the orphanage. 

The young man had black hair opposite of my white hair. He had black eyes when I have red, I am comparing his features to mine because I fail to distinguish what is a handsome and a beautiful face to what is not.

They say I am handsome, so my basis was my own face. 

Going back, the young man that came in was seven years old and is weird as he chose to be alone and was somewhat similar to me other than the fact he has no ability to do any chores. 
But he was oddly more likable and had many children flock around him. 

In the first three months, I ignored his existence and focused on my own things. But as time went on, and a month passed, other children became jealous of the attention the child was getting and he was harassed and ignored by other boys. 

At some point, I managed to witness five people surrounding him. 

They were ganging up on him and I found it entertaining that someone was getting hurt so I stayed and watched to see what would happen. 

Everything was happening on the back of the library and I was watching in a barely noticeable window. 

The five boys pushed him around and after one bad push and the boy fell down. 

He finally had enough and stood his ground. He fought back, but not with his fist. Instead, he held a red pendant that was dangling over his neck. A red flash of light escaped his body. 

The boy opened his mouth and uttered, = "Igni!" =

A small ball of flames flew out of his hands and hit a nearby rock, a mini-explosion occurred. 

Boom.

It did not heat any of the boys, but it scared the living out of them and they fell onto their asses. 

The boy who cast the spell looked down upon them and I heart him said coldly, = "Mess with me and that will land on any of you five." =

I was clueless about the ways of the world, but I can supplement that with my ardent desire for knowledge.

I was powerless, but I now wield powers no mortal can hope to comprehend.

I was kind, but I learned ruthlessness is the only way to live in a world that wants my head. 

Generals, Kings, Emperors, and Gods are just some being who gained recognition but all of them like everyone else.

I am a being no one wanted to exist, I am a scourge, but I will rise and be revered by all.

And if they do not bend their knees? Their fates will be sealed underneath my feet.  

Kneel before the one who treads the Monstrous Path.
