A giant fire whip swung about toward the sea of flame created by Drake. This whip was about two meters in width and more than twenty meters in length. In addition to the ten times size of the whip Hawley had performed yesterday, this whip had another difference: It was blue and red mixed together, from afar it looked like a giant strand of rope being braided from two color blue and red, very similar to the fireball Angus used earlier.
The moment the whip smashed down from above, it instantly cut along Drake's sea of flame into two halves. The head of the whip was about to hit Drake. Drake was still using his internal power to control the "Great Blaze", suddenly the flame was cut through, making him suffer a counteraction, just then the whip head was about to fall on his head. Angus looked straight at Drake, his right hand swung again, the blue fire ball flew straight to a corner of the wall surrounding the arena ground. Subconsciously Drake's gaze followed the movement of blue fire ball, what he saw was the fire ball hit the wall, then immediately exploded, creating a large hole on the wall. Drake turned to look at Angus, seeing what existing the eyes full of intimidation was the burning blue color which could burn out his soul.
The result was clear –
"I... admit defeat." Drake closed his eyes, hiding the terror at the bottom of his eyes.
Angus released his hand from Drake, taking a step back.
The intense pressure suddenly withdrew, Drake felt like he had just risen from the dead. His stiff body was suddenly loosed, Drake staggered to realize how exhausted he was. But he could not fall down. This was his last remaining dignity.
The dust and smoke gradually cleared, and now everyone could see the situation of the wall surrounding the arena.
At the foot of the wall, a groove which was half a meter deep had appeared on it, still dotted with some blue flames. This was the result when the fire whip hit the wall and exploded. And yet, the position of the wall that was hit by Angus' blue fire ball was pierced with a deep hole more than two meters in diameter. Similarly to the wall foot, here the blue flames had not yet disappeared but continued to smolderingly burning, the blue sparks were still aggressively swallowing concrete.
Everyone could not help but take a deep breath.
The concrete wall surrounding the arena ground was designed with some special materials to reduce damage from Fire, Water, and Lightning power during the competitions. Unexpectedly, Fire power of Angus could destroy the wall like that.
Fear mixed with curiosity gradually increased in everyone's heart.
That kind of blue and red fire – What was it???
On the arena ground, when Drake was about to fall down, a hand reached out into his view.
Drake looked at Angus in surprise: "You..."

Angus narrowed his eyes a little: "Yes or no, you've just experienced by yourself."
Seeming to remember something, Drake suddenly lifted his head, looking at the blue eyes and pale blue hair of Angus. Then he made a wry smile: "So that's how it is..." It turned out that the pale blue color that everyone based on to guess his strength did not represent for Water at all! They were all deceived right at the beginning! 
But even if knowing Angus had Blue Fire power right at the beginning, could I win him? Drake asked himself.
This time Angus didn't respond to Drake's words but just looked down at his hand, gave Drake a signal.

Throughout all of Arteria's chaotic thoughts over what had happened before and seeing the other lead character in the story, Arty was aware enough to join the others and eat their dinner once it's ready and then when it's time for bed, Arty and Emyrie went straight to sleep and rest until another new day arrives.

Before Arty closed her eyes and surrendered into slumber, she thought to herself that she might be able to think clearly by the next day and start making plans and decisions over what she's going to do.

Once the next day had come, the sun rising and shining its light through the open cottage windows, Arty instantly woke up early and first to face the day.

She sat up on her bed and looked to see that Emyrie is still asleep, and Arty was satisfied at that as she got off the bed, changed her clothes quickly, and went off to the library to start thinking deeply and make plans on what to do to play out her role as the main character of the story.

As she tiptoed quietly, checking on the adults to see if they're still asleep or busy doing something else in the early morning, she found that they are and headed straight to the room where there are all the books she needed.

She looked around, grabbed the most important books she needs to learn and know, and then started reading through them to gain more knowledge on them and the world she's in.

Though she might have needed Emyrie's help, the little girl magician is still a child so it looks like Arty is going to be doing this alone for the time being.

It was fortunate for Arty that she has an intelligent mind to absorb all that she can to learn and know everything.

It took a few hours for her to process all the books she's reading and stored them in her head before she heard some noticeable sounds that the adults seemed to be searching around for her, and Arty hurriedly put away all the books, but she marked those that she'll continue later.

Arty went out and played along, as usual, being the cute young girl that she is, and her grandparents smiled back when they saw her and called her over for breakfast.

Emyrie had just arrived, seeing that she's still a bit sleepy when her mother got her to eat, then the small family gathered around to have their breakfast.

They didn't notice at all that Arty was being slightly absentminded and that she was thinking deeply over something.

After breakfast, Emyrie piped out that she and Arty are going to play and Arty didn't protest as she went along and needed the short break since she spent almost a long time reading the books in the library.

The grandparents and Emyrie's mother consented and let them go but they also cautioned them to not go too far and get themselves lost in the forest.

Arty said in a responsible way to promise them that they won't and they almost gush at her adorable childishness.

Once Emyrie and Arty went out and play tag and hide-and-seek around the cottage, it was almost noon and nearly lunchtime that Emyrie suddenly stopped and went back into the cottage to see if lunch is ready yet.

Arty stayed behind outside, let herself lie on the grassy soft ground and look up into the cloudy blue sky.

She let herself relax a bit, while she's thinking deeply in her mind over whatever she's thinking.

Arty mentally sighed knowing that some of her decisions and plans she's making and about to make are way too hasty and fast.

But after seeing the other main character Prince Adrian back in the town before, she had no choice.

She had to find the magic weapon that is the Fiery Blade and find allies soon in order for the rebellion against the Mad King to start forming and find a way to defeat the crazy king without dying.

Even though there weren't any whispers about her yet since it's too early to tell, it won't take long for rumors to spread and reach towards the villainous king that the wielder of the Fiery Blade might have been chosen and found.

And she didn't want to die that early.

So for starters, she needed to make a list, an important list with all the key factors that she had created, known, and written into the story before it comes to an end.

First, of course, finding exactly where the Fiery Blade is and be its newly chosen wielder as the story goes.

Next, finding the exact allies who are the key to the rebellion against the Mad King.

Next again, meeting Prince Adrian when the time comes and have him brought to the fold of the rebellion against his crazy tyrannous father.

And next again, find out and discover how to activate the hidden power of the Fiery Blade to defeat the Mad King, without being sacrificed and then die at the end.

Then finally, finding the way back home in the real world.

Arty didn't know what to do again as she pondered over all of this. There's been obstacles and difficulties concerning the unexpected changes in the story, but she believed that as the main character and as its writer, she'll be able to breeze through it without any problems.

Her determination into seeing this through and trying to find a way back home to her former modern world has given her the motivation and drive to do this.

The moment he woke up, Eric's head felt as heavy as a mountain. He shook it a few times to get rid of the feeling, and once he had taken note of his surroundings, he smiled as he sat up. It was already past nine in the morning.
 
This was the Williams' residence second-floor bedroom, the blazing summer sun rays were streaming unhindered through the south balcony's French doors. It was already August and you could feel Los Angeles' warmth way before noon.
 
It's been half a month since his rebirth, and Eric had been busy with all sorts of things. He hadn't even had the time to act as a tourist before jumping into the Hollywood circle.
 
He laid back down and looked around him.
 
The bedroom was large, more than thirty square meters. Even if you included his bed, wardrobe, desk and some random antiques, it still felt empty.
 
Ralph had wanted to divide it into two separate rooms but refrained since only their father and son duo lived there. Until death, he had never attempted to remarry either.
 
Eric wondered if all drinking addicts were the same, burdened by similar heart-rending pasts.
 
When he got down from the second floor, it took him half an hour to tidy up the mess in the living room from yesterday's party, and after taking his breakfast, he drove out.

It wasn't done on a whim or because Eric wanted to become a singer, it was to prepare for future movies' soundtracks. He had so many classic movies in mind, and if he wanted to replicate them to perfection, he couldn't neglect that point. He had to at least understand arrangements to some degree or he'd be a laughing stock among those music professionals.
 
Hollywood was different from China. In China, directors would often just find a musician, listen to his works, and if they liked something, they'd shake hands and be done with it.
 
But in Hollywood, original soundtracks were an integral part of movies. Not just the background music, but even the theme songs were enough to become classics. After the piano was in place, he had to tune it. As Eric sat on the bench and placed his fingers on the keys, the delivery men didn't try to hide the ridicule in their eyes. He ignored them and started playing "Happy Birthday". After playing for a while, he glanced at the amazed delivery men. Even in his past life, Eric's piano skills could be considered great.
 
As revenge for their contempt, he cut their tips in half. The several delivery men didn't notice that and the tall white one muttered to himself once they were in the car: "Strauss, ah, Strauss! Eric knew he would only be able to give his opinion and that the final decision wouldn't be his, but he still readily agreed to Penny's offer, this was a good way to earn some experience.
 
Driving to the Fox studios, he saw Penny and James. The casting was a really important part, so of course, the director and producer had to be present. There were also several other staff members, but Eric was the youngest.
 
It was still a good ten minutes before the beginning of the auditions, so Penny Marshall took the initiative to chat with Eric about some 17 Again matters.

Besides, Eric was convinced that his performance would not be outshined by Brad Pitt.
 
When the latter would become famous, people would still talk about how he played Eric Williams' son, how awesome was that?
 
While his lips curled into a smile, he studied the remaining list and tried to spot celebrities from his previous life.
 
He looked at the list which contained more than a dozen actresses' personal information and stopped at the first name on the list, and his chin almost fell off. Angelina Jolie! Ah, it looked like the whole family was in attendance today!
 
He remembered that Jolie should have just graduated from a performing arts school and that she would start her modeling career next year, he had no idea what she was doing on Maggie's auditions' list.

In those short few seconds of conversation, Eric was able to get a better understanding of Hollywood. It wasn't anything like how the media or people had described it in his past life; fair and transparent. Here, it was all about connections.
 
Penny Marshall patted Eric's shoulder and said: "Alright, Eric let's start."
 
Eric had the list of the line up in hand as he waited for the auditions to start.
 
He initially thought he would just sit down and provide additional comments, eventually even ask some symbolical questions, he didn't expect that when the first actor came in, Penny would face him with a smile and say: "Eric, you go and perform this scene with Mr. Wolfson."
 
Eric shrugged, glanced at the script, and stepped forward.

Once the fifth actor was out of the audition room, Eric sat back in his seat and jokingly complained: "Penny, when you called me to be a referee, I didn't think it would be on the basketball court."
 
"Ha, nice analogy! Alright don't be mad Eric, it was James' idea. He kept whining about how I canceled your acting classes, and so he thought of this method to make you practice your acting skills."
 
Eric pretended to be angry as he stared at James Brooks and said: "Why didn't you tell me about it?"
 
"Don't you know now?" Penny Marshall asked with a smile.
 
"Whatever..." Eric was left speechless.

An advertising director is reborn in 1988 Hollywood as an eighteen-year-old blond-haired westerner named Eric Williams.

From then on, he starts writing movie scripts and television songs, becomes skilled in directing every kind of film, wins over all kinds of female celebrities, and takes the path to becoming a Hollywood legend.

After ten minutes of running through the wilderness, I come to a stop. I've not detected a trace of anyone since leaving Glory City. I finally feel reassured enough to just take a deep breath and get my thoughts in order.

While it would have been easy to have Chen Linian, accept me in his group, I don't want to draw any attention to myself. I'm not overly worried about a bunch of teenagers taking notice of me. Their successful return to Glory City will cause adults to investigate the group members, and that does worry me. Plus, with the Snow Wind Family searching for me, probably, I wouldn't be able to successfully hide from them in Glory City until the group departed.

Proud of myself for avoiding a future problem, I focus on my current problem. I know Ancient Orchid City Ruins is supposed to be a six-day walk to the southeast of Glory City, but that's an enormous area to have to search.

Thinking of the Library of Heaven's Path, I get an idea. Removing a pen and a small blank journal from my interspatial ring, I sit down to write. 

'Ancient Orchid City Ruins is located ten kilometers southeast of Glory City.'

With a thought of 'Flaws', I enter the Library of Heaven's Path. Grabbing my journal reveals two flaws.

It takes a moment for this to sink in. Quickly crossing out the first line and writing a new line in my journal, I check it a second time for flaws.

This is amazing! This is OP to the tenth power!!! I have a built-in treasure finder!!! Dozens of different ideas pop into my head on how to exploit this! The next ten minutes are utterly wasted as I foolishly giggle and plot out different plans to gain power with my new treasure finder.

As much as I want to just sit down and play with this newly found exploit, I have to get back to the task at hand.

Once I calm down, I get to work writing different estimates until I've got the location down to less than ten kilometers. I can zero it in once I'm closer. Putting my journal in my belt for quick access, I start moving towards my destination.

One thing that gets overlooked in stories, is the boredom while traveling. I'm moving at a light jog and keeping Soul Suppression on as much as possible, but I still have plenty of time for my mind to wander. It's during this wandering time that I recall a bit of information on fox-bears.

In the story, Chen Linjian's group will be attacked while sleeping on their first night of travel. Not many details are given, but several members of his group will die in their sleep due to the fox-bears. I can't let that happen, they're just unsuspecting teenagers.

After a few more journal entries, and three hours of jogging, I arrive at my destination. Looking around I can pick up the tell-tale signs of a beast habitat. Prints in the mud, claw marks on tree trunks, and a faint musky odor in the air. Even with my heightened sense of smell, it's a subtle odor.

Not wanting to sit around, waiting for a bunch of teenagers to show up, I begin Operation Kaboom!

I quickly move to a tree that is near the bedding area for the fox-bears. I imbue a flawless Flame Explosion Inscription into the trunk of the tree. Similar to the inscription Nie Li used to destroy the home of the bird-brains in the Abyss Prison Realm, but much more powerful. With sunset still several hours away, I take my time in completing five more inscriptions. 

After completing the last inscription, I begin to slowly walk away. Once I'm fifty meters away, the inscriptions are triggered. A massive fireball erupts behind me, engulfing the nesting area completely. 

I always thought walking away from a huge fiery explosion in slow motion would be badass. Wrong. Totally not badass. It's loud and surprisingly hot! Not to mention completely awkward walking slowly. If not for my enhanced durability, I'm sure the back of my neck would be rocking a brand new sunburn.   

Really glad no one else is around to see this. Not my proudest moment. On the bright side, I just got another check on the bucket list. 

Taking a moment to inspect the damage, I take note of the complete destruction of all six trees I placed an inscription on. Fire seems to have ignited but doesn't seem to be spreading. This is going to draw attention, from people and beasts. 

Turning away from the flames, I run at max speed towards my destination. I have to quickly reign my speed in though, for fear of running into a tree. I've never gone all-out before, and it's amazing! I don't know how long I could keep moving at my max speed, but I'm confident I could reach Ancient Orchid City Ruins faster than I estimated. 

The problem with that, I would be making myself vulnerable to attack. I would be moving too fast to detect the presence of any lifeforms until I was right on it. There's no need to be so reckless. Running would save at least two days of travel, but I don't need that extra time. Chen Linjian's group will be leaving Glory City in two days from now. A safe and steady pace should give me three to four days alone in Ancient Orchid City Ruins before his group will arrive. Them and the Dark Guild.

I'm still not sure what to do about the Dark Guild. I know in both timelines, they were attempting to kidnap kids for ransom, but I can't remember if they were successful in the first timeline. I could attempt to kill them, but I've never killed another human being before.  

There's also the old saying, 'Better the devil you know than the devil you don't.' The problem with that saying is I don't know any of Dark Guild members in this kidnapping scheme! I only remember Deacon Yun Hua as being a large blonde Gold-ranked Demon Spiritualist, working at one of the Sacred Family's restaurants. If he's removed, I won't know who the Dark Guild sends to replace him, or if the Dark Guild will launch an attack for revenge.

I'll have to think of a way to foil their kidnapping attempt, without exposing my identity to the Dark Guild or the teenagers. 

Once I feel I've reached a safe distance from the burning nest, I slow down to a brisk walking speed. I'm not winded, but I don't want to take a chance of being attacked while trying to catch my breath.

Confirming that I'm heading in the right direction, I continue on my journey. 

On the evening of the fourth day of my journey, I reach my destination. Ancient Orchid City Ruins. The trip was surprisingly peaceful. Only twice was I attacked by demon beasts, and both of them were bronze rank. A simple strike to their necks ended their life. 

Looking at the ruins, I can't even imagine the size of the demon beast horde needed to overrun it. The city is massive. There must have been several million people living here.

But now, it's just ruins, severely overrun by trees and vegetation. I've not seen any of the Giant Blue Armed Apes, but I can hear them roaring and hooting around the ruins. 

Ducking into a deep shadow, I remove my journal and prepare to test a theory. Chen Linjian's group spent several days digging around the military fortress and the City Lord's Mansion, before uncovering an entrance to the treasury. 

That is an absolute waste of time for me. The city wouldn't bury a chamber to store its treasury. They would still need some way to access their items. My guess is that there is a hidden treasury entrance in the City Lord's Mansion.

I begin writing different possible locations for a treasury entrance. After fifteen minutes, I've confirmed my theory. There is a hidden treasury entrance at the bottom of the City Lord's Mansion. The entrance is controlled by an array. This should be fairly easy to find. Getting to the City Lord's Mansion unseen will not be so easy. 

Getting the general direction, I crank Soul Suppression to the max and cross over the outer wall. Giant Blue Armed Apes are not nocturnal, but neither do I have night vision. Yet. 

I'm slowly and quietly moving from shadow to shadow. I utilize buildings when it's convenient, but my main goal is to get as close to the City Lord's Mansion as I can before nightfall, unseen. There shouldn't be a single demon beast in these ruins that I can't overpower, but there are hundreds of demon beasts here. I don't know if they will scatter if I kill their alpha, or go into a murderous rage and swarm me.

I was forced to take shelter in a building at dusk. The Giant Blue Armed Apes suddenly became very loud and active. I'm not sure if this is their normal night time ritual or if something else put them on alert. Once the sun set, the noise, and activity quickly died down. Guess that was just their version of saying good-night. 

I wait another thirty minutes before making my way out of the building. Not gonna lie, looking around the ruins under a starless sky is really creepy. I half expect to see ghosts moving about.

Deciding to pick up the pace, totally not because of the creepy feeling, I swiftly move through the ruins. Soul Suppression removes the possibility of anything picking up my scent or presence, but any sound is still an issue. Even my light steps seem loud to my own ears, but I've avoided all detection from these damn dirty apes so far. 

As my eyes became adjusted to the darkness, I'm able to make out my destination. Taking a gamble, I pick up my speed and dash down the street leading to the City Lord's Mansion. As I'm nearing a hole in the side of the mansion, I can hear the sounds of apes hooting in the dark. 

Diving through the hole in the wall, I immediately halt and focus my ears. My mad dash undoubtedly woke several apes in the area. After a few calls amongst themselves, all is quiet again. With a smile of victory, I move deeper into the room. 

The interior of the building quickly dissolves into complete darkness. Without a torch, I'm forced to condense a ball of soul force into the palm of my hand. It doesn't fully illuminate the room but does allow me to make out anything within eight or nine feet of me. 

Exiting the room, I step out into a wide hallway. Turning right, I move deeper into the mansion. Soon, I come to an intersection. I don't feel like wandering around a spooky mansion all night. Picking up a palm-sized piece of marble, I scratch a large '1A' on the ground. Moving to each hallway entrance I scratch another number and letter combination. 

Taking out my journal, I write, 'The quickest way to the Ancient Orchid City Ruins' Treasury is going down hallway 2A from hallway 1A.'

[1 Flaw...]

My next attempt results in a flawless answer, and I'm swiftly moving down a new hallway. I mark each hallway I come to and use the Library of Heaven's Path to continuously move towards the treasury. This is such a cheat, and I love it.

An hour later, I find myself standing before a large section of bare wall in the belly of the City Lord's Mansion. The Library of Heaven's Path confirmed that there is a mechanism inside the wall. It takes me five minutes of rubbing both my hands across the wall before I'm able to locate the activation array.

The array seems to be keyed to a specific kind of soul force. The concept is brilliant really. It must be keyed to each person being granted access, and that person must weave their soul force in a particular pattern to open the treasury door. Luckily, there are several flaws in the inscription I can exploit.    

Weaving my soul force in an elaborate design through the flaws of the array, I'm rewarded with the array suddenly lighting up the wall! Stepping back, I watch as the array slowly starts to shine across the wall in a beautifully designed inscription. This array has so many uses. Once I fix the flaws, I plan to use this inscription to protect all my valuables I can't/shouldn't carry with me.

My attention is drawn from the inscription by the grating of stone sliding on stone. The opening is large enough for three to enter together. Illuminating the area with my soul force, I step through the entrance and onto a wide platform. Seeing another inscription carved into the stone of the platform, I can't help to smile as I recognize the pattern. 

Extinguishing my soul force light, I bend down and place my palm on the center of the platform. Channeling a large amount of soul force into the array, my smile stretches even wider as the array activates. 

Flames suddenly burst to life at the corners of the platform, and down the banisters of a wide staircase. As I move down the stairs, the flames seem to run down the rest of the stairs and illuminate a large room.  

Stepping off the stairs, I'm halted by the stunning sight before me. The light from the flames running around the walls of the room is further reflected by mounds and mounds of gold. The comics did not do this place justice. There are treasures everywhere! Sparkling jewels, decorative furnishings, powerful weapons and armor, stone bookcases lining the walls...

Despite the glimmer of gold, my attention zeros in on those bookcases. While there are several small boxes and trinkets on the shelves, there is no mistaking the ancient books and scrolls. Quickly moving to the nearest bookcase, I closely examine a large scroll partially opened. The wording seems to predate even the Sacred Empire, but the book looks like it would fall apart at the slightest touch. Luckily, a touch is all I need. 

Carefully placing my finger on the scroll and thinking flaws, a wide smile crosses my face as the Library of Heaven's Path gained another cultivation manual! Anything placed in the City Lord's Mansion must be valuable. If this keeps up, my smile may become permanent. Looking around, there must be nearly a thousand tomes and scrolls on the shelves.

As I'm scanning the treasury, I notice the reason for this trip. A small glowing decorative lantern placed on top of a marble pedestal. Putting the books aside, for now, I quickly make my way towards that beautifully powerful artifact. Using both hands, I gently remove the spiritual lamp from the pedestal. 

A quick check from the Library of Heaven's Path reveals just how incredible the spiritual lamp is, as well as what it contains. A normal demon spirit stone can hold a demon spirit for two to three hundred years before the spirit will dissipate. The spiritual lamp in my hands is capable of holding a demon spirit for up to two thousand years! 

After reading the materials used in making a spiritual lamp, I understand why. These lamps were not made on Tiny World. I'm not sure, but if I had to bet, my money would be Draconic Ruins Realm. Not only is the inscription on the lamp flawless, but it was forged by a true master. I won't be able to improve or even replicate the spiritual lamp. Making omething that could hold a demon spirit for seven or eight hundred years shouldn't pose too much of a problem, but thousands of years isn't likely.   

Focusing on what's truly important, I surround the spiritual lamp in with my soul force to prevent anything from going wrong. With a deep breath, I release the Shadow Devil from the lamp. Before it can even make an attempt to escape, I lock it down with my soul force. I rapidly pull the Shadow Devil into my soul realm and seal off any chance of escape. Once the integration is complete, a small shudder runs through my body.

Holding back my bubbling excitement, I store the spiritual lamp in my interspatial ring. It's time to attempt my first merger with the Shadow Devil. 

An overbearing feeling of calm indifference washes over me. It's as if my excitement just disappeared without a trace. I feel cold and determined, thinking only of completing my goals. No excitement or even an ounce of fear. 

Guess this proves that a demon spiritualist will take on the mentality of their demon spirit when merged. Putting some thought into it, the Shadow Devil might cause me a good deal of trouble. In this state of indifference, I may act against someone when my conscience would have held me back. Something I might have to be wary about. On a positive note, this will be able to replace my calming elixir, and merging with the Shadow Devil is not nearly as noticeable.

Looking at my body, I notice my eyesight is on another level. Everything is sharper and brighter. The flames around the room prevent me from testing it, but I'm willing to bet I have a form of night vision now. 

Looking over my body, I can't identify any physical change. Holding up my right arm, I focus for a moment and a meter long shadow blade silently extends from my wrist. Deadly. Taking a few steps back from the pedestal, I focus for a moment before walking forward. A step before the pedestal, I completely disappear from sight. Another step and I've moved through the pedestal and standing on the other side. With a thought, I'm visible again. This was much easier than I thought it would be.

Ending my merger, I feeling of happiness gushes back into me. My emotions are much more manageable now. 

With a clear head, I take a look at my soul realm. I notice the soul force I expended when activating the previous arrays, isn't recovering as fast as normal. A closer look at the Shadow Devil and I can see a portion of my soul force being pulled into it. 

I'm not worried about the loss of recovery speed with just the Shadow Devil. But integrating with three or four demon spirits would nearly eliminate my natural soul force recovery. With that many demon spirits, I would be forced to cultivate to recover any expended soul force. In a prolonged fight, that could be my undoing. 

Pushing those thoughts to the side, I take another look around me. It's time to dig through some treasure!

A 20 year old fan of fanfiction is transmigrated into an orphaned teen in the middle of Glory City. Follow him as he's forced to deal with hidden dangers, evil villains, and the dreaded puberty. 

This is my first novel, so expect some mistakes. I'll try to make corrections when seen. Reworked the first six chapters.

I'm doing this for my own personal pleasure. I have a family and a job that requires me to work most weekends. I hope to produce two chapters a week, provided life allows.

The moment he woke up, Eric's head felt as heavy as a mountain. He shook it a few times to get rid of the feeling, and once he had taken note of his surroundings, he smiled as he sat up. It was already past nine in the morning.
 
This was the Williams' residence second floor bedroom, the blazing summer sun rays were streaming unhindered through the south balcony's French doors. It was already August and you could feel Los Angeles' warmth way before noon.
 
It's been half a month since his rebirth, and Eric had been busy with all sorts of things. He hadn't even had the time to act as a tourist before jumping into the Hollywood circle.
 
He laid back down and looked around him.
 
The bedroom was large, more than thirty square meters. Even if you included his bed, wardrobe, desk and some random antiques, it still felt empty.
 
Ralph had wanted to divide it into two separate rooms but refrained since only their father and son duo lived there. Until death, he had never made an attempt to remarry either.
 
Eric wondered if all drinking addicts were the same, burdened by similar heartrending pasts.
 
When he got down from the second floor, it took him half an hour to tidy up the mess in the living room left behind by yesterday's party, and after taking his breakfast, he drove out.
 
He spent several hours visiting music shops and finally settled on a Strauss piano. He left behind his address to get it delivered, and purchased a thick stack of books on music arrangement from the bookstore nearby.
 
It wasn't done on a whim or because Eric wanted to become a singer, it was to prepare for future movies' soundtracks. He had so many classic movies in mind, and if he wanted to replicate them to perfection, he couldn't neglect that point. He had to at least understand arrangements to some degree or he'd be turned into a laughing stock by those music professionals.
 
Hollywood was different from China. In China, directors would often just find a musician, listen to his works, and if they liked something, they'd shake hands and be done with it.
 
But in Hollywood, original soundtracks were an integral part of movies. Let's not even mention background music, just the theme songs were enough to become classics. Like "Unchained Melody" from Ghost, "New Divide" from Transformers, "My Heart Will Go On" from Titanic, "Young and Beautiful" from The Great Gatsby, "Let it Go" from Frozen, as well as Juno's entire album.
 
Carrying his new found books home, delivery men soon came and the piano was set up in the study at the west side part of the living room. Well, although it was called a study there wasn't a single bookshelf there, just a large desk and other miscellaneous stuff. It used to be Ralph's, and he never had a reading habit, so all of Eric's books were in his room upstairs.
 
After the piano was in place, he had to tune it. As Eric sat on the bench and placed his fingers on the keys, the delivery men didn't try to hide the ridicule in their eyes. He ignored them and started playing "Happy Birthday". After playing for a while, he glanced at the amazed delivery men and their necks stiffened. Even in his past life, Eric's piano skills could be considered good.
 
As a revenge for their contempt, he cut their tips by half. The several delivery men didn't notice that as the tall white one muttered to himself once they were in the car: "Strauss, ah, Strauss ! That's worth at least  20,000 US dollars…". The tone of his voice was as heartbreaking as a woman learning about her grandfather's death the eve of her marriage. If Eric had heard it, he would've probably felt ashamed at his earlier gesture. Luckily though, he hadn't.

"Audition ? What audition ?" Eric asked in puzzlement: "Penny, hasn't my role already been decided ?"
 
For a few days Eric studied music everyday and practiced basketball. Three days after he had gotten used to this routine, he received a phone call from Penny Marshall.
 
"Of course, Eric. What I meant was for you to be present during the auditions of other roles. After all, you're the writer, you could offer some advice, right ?"
 
Eric knew he would only be able to give his opinion and that the final decision wouldn't be his, but he still readily agreed to Penny's offer, this was a good way to earn some experience.
 
Driving to the FOX's studios, he saw Penny and James. The casting was a really important part after all, of course the director and producer had to be present. There were also several other staff members, but Eric was the youngest.
 
It was still a good ten minutes before the beginning of the auditions, so Penny Marshall took the initiative to chat with Eric about some 17 Again matters.
 
"With BIG's success, the Twentieth Century Fox has high hopes for this movie, they've given us a budget of 20 million US dollars. They'd like to release it by Thanksgiving, so we have two weeks to make all our necessary preparations and finish the filming before the end of the school holidays."
 
Eric thanked the staff member who gave him the list of auditioning actors, then said to Penny: "If everything goes smoothly, three months should be enough to wrap everything up, the movie has barely any CG, so it shouldn't take that long."
 
Penny Marshall nodded: "Indeed, but we also need to set aside some time to promote the movie."
 
"Right, Penny, for which roles are they auditioning today ?" Eric asked.
 
"We've invited Dan Aykroyd and Susan Sarandon for the adults Mike & Scarlett O'Donnell, and James recommended a friend for the role of Ned. Today it's mainly about Mike's children, as well as a number of other teenagers, so I think we should let you take a look."
 
Although Eric already knew the final decision wouldn't be his, when he heard that most of the actors had already been decided, he was somewhat depressed. Fortunately Penny told him that they kept Eric's description of the characters in mind when they chose them. As for Ned's role, James Brooks wouldn't joke around with a 20 million dollars project, so the actor he settled on shouldn't be too shabby.
 
Eric still felt a bit stifled and unwilling as he secretly vowed that he wouldn't let that happen again in the future. Being marginalized left him with a bad aftertaste.
 
He wasn't in the mood to keep chatting with Penny, but the latter didn't seem to notice his gloomy expression as she went towards James to discuss something in a low voice.
 
The auditions began, and after 7 or 8 people, Eric finally met someone he was familiar with: Brad Pitt. And he was even auditioning for the role of Alex.
 
Alex's original appearance was that of a weak and feeble guy, and Eric remembered thinking how it was hard to believe that someone like him could suddenly mysteriously shine on the court.
 
He reckoned that the only reason they chose a skinny boy instead of a tall and handsome male, was because they were worried that Zac Efron would be outshined with his 1m75 stature, as it was somewhat short for a caucasian male.
 
Brad Pitt was 25 years old right now but he could pass as a high-school student without problem. Eric pictured his tall and strong stature getting bullied, then owning everyone on the basketball court; it was at least less far-fetched than the original. Besides, Eric was convinced that his performance would not be outshined by Brad Pitt.
 
When the latter would become famous, people would still talk about how he played Eric Williams' son, how awesome was that ?
 
While his lips curled into a smile, he studied the remaining list and tried to spot celebrities from his previous life.
 
He looked through the list which contained more than a dozen actresses' personal informations as he stopped at the first name on the list, and his chin almost fell off: Angelina Jolie. Ah, it looks like the whole family is in attendance today!
 
He remembered that Jolie should have just graduated from a performing arts school, and that she would start her modeling career next year, he had no idea what she was doing on Maggie's auditions' list.
 
Caucasian women mature very early, and Jolie's profile picture was that of a thirteen-year-old slim blonde-haired girl with iconic lips, who exuded a type of wild aura. Eric wasn't really looking forward to her performance as she was seriously too young, she probably only got to audition thanks to her father, Jon Voight.
 
While he kept searching, Eric found a very interesting girl.
 
"Hey, Penny," Eric turned around and asked: "What's up with Drew Barrymore ? You know, after how she's been behaving for the past couple of years… I don't think she's really suitable for a campus comedy ?"
 
Penny Marshall smiled helplessly: "Steven recommended her. That other woman shamelessly kept begging him so many times that he was tired of it, so in the end he recommended Drew. He also implied that we don't have to take his recommendation into account when she auditions."
 
"Steven Spielberg ?"
 
Penny Marshall nodded: "Yeah, he is Drew's godfather."
 
Eric sighed, the woman Penny mentioned with an undisguised tone of disgust should be Drew Barrymore's greedy mother. The High Priest of Flower Soul went on and narrated an absurd story about the Stone Castle. It was a story very different from the history that Shangguan Ru and Maid Lotus knew of. The mountaintop was named Xuandu Peak and the Stone Castle was named Reborn Fort. The owner's surname was Feng and people addressed him as "Holy King".
Holy King possessed excellent Kung Fu and accepted all kinds of disciples. According to the characteristics of each person, he established three inner halls, namely Blazing Sun Hall, New Moon Hall and Lone Star Hall.
The disciples of Blazing Sun Hall were good at cooperating with one another in collective warfare. New Moon Hall specialized in pill-making and occult sciences, while Lone Star Hall had the most outstanding disciples. They never cooperated with others and kept to themselves, performing the most arduous and secretive tasks.

Huckleberry Finn speaks for many readers when, recalling his Mississippi education, he says: "There was some books too... One was 'Pilgrim's Progress', about a man that left his family it didn't say why. I read considerable in it now and then. The statements was interesting, but tough."

The story of a man in search of the truth is the plot of many kinds of fiction, fromPortnoy's Complaint to Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy.
