It had been a couple of days since Remus had taken the Magical Beast Animagus Potion and everyone was still reeling from the shock. Not only did the Potion work and turned Remus's disease into a new Magical Power, it somehow combined his original Animagus Form, a Bat, with his new one and brought into the world a Legendary Magical Beast, Winged Wolf!! After Remus presented his new Animagus Form and saw the shock on everyone's face, he smiled before turning back into a Human. But even his Human form was different from his previous self, his body was streamlined and perfectly fit his clothes and not only that, it was like he had grown four or five inches and you could see an outline of his well-toned and defined body. 

Whilst everyone was once again shocked and confused, the kids were the first one to get out of their stupor and rushed to Remus. They all gathered around him and Ron was the first one to congratulate him, ``*Woohoo!* How do you feel Uncle Remus?! That Animagus form of yours was pretty surprising to say the least. Not to mention, your current human form isn't bad either.'' Remus looked at Ron and the other kids nodding in agreement and laughed out loud but before Remus or the kids could say could say anything. The adults had also gotten out of their stupefaction and Sirius chimed in and asked, ``I am sure your Uncle Remus feels great at the moment but I want to know where his Werewolf Form got Wings from?! I mean, he already got a XXXXX level Animagus From and he even has Wings! How's that fair?!'' 

Although it sounded like Sirius was jealous of Remus's new powers, he was probably one the people who wished he had gotten even more! Seeing his best friend get cured in front of his eyes would have been enough to make him happy but not only did he get cured but he even got to be the first ever Magical Beast Animagus and that too with a combined Animagus Form! While Sirius wanted joke around a bit more, Remus's father arrived in front of his son and asked him with happiness and a little bit of fear in his voice, ``Remus, are you really cured?! Are you finally free son?!''. The disbelief in his voice didn't make anyone angry instead, they all felt choked up themselves and silently left the room to give some space for a father-son talk.

During the next few days, the families outside of Ottery St also got to see the Wizard World's first ever Magical Beast Animagus and needless to say, they were shocked. Remus himself was still in shock and would turn into a Winged Werewolf every day before flying around the Quidditch Pitch and howling in joy and happiness. Meanwhile the kids were working on creating a simplified version of the Potion which they could provide to the other Infected Wizards. This Potion's only functions were to heal the long term damage the Curse inflicted upon the body and cure get rid of the Werewolf Curse. Although the person might still have traits from their time as a Werewolf, they would not turn into a deranged Monster come every full moon. 

And with only a few weeks left before Bill and Charlie finished another year at Hogwarts, they finally did it! A cure for Werewolves around the world, although no one else besides Remus would be able to get a Animagus Form out of it, they would instead be able to live a normal life in Wizard Society and not have to worry about hurting themselves or their loved ones. The kids had already decided to not take any credit for the Potion and instead got their Grandparents to get it distributed through the Ministry. Needless to say, the news of the cure shocked the entire Wizarding World to its core. No Ministry anywhere in the world could sit still and soon more than a dozen Ministers of Magic arrived in Great Britain. Cornelius who was still reeling from the shock himself had to get over it pretty quickly and went to meet with the other Leaders of the Magical World.

But all of that didn't concern the kids who were currently enjoying a celebration dinner put together by the House Elves and their Mothers and were stuffing themselves with food. The moms were looking at their kids with faces full of pride and joy but with a trace of uncertainty in their eyes. Ron caught this uncertainty and asked them, ``Mom, what are guys thinking about? Are you worried that we are eating too much or something?''. Molly and the other moms laughed at Ron's joke before Astoria's mother answered Ron's question with another question, ``It's nothing like that sweetheart. We're just wondering how you kids managed to give Remus a combined Animagus Form?'' Before Ron could answer, Cedric's mom chimed in as well, ``yeah, we understand the Magical Beast Animagus Form Potion but the combined Form isn't mentioned anywhere in the Recipe or even in any books laying around the different Houses.'' 

Ron and the kids smiled at the question, after all, it wasn't just their moms who were wondering about these things. Everyone wanted to know how they managed to give Remus's Werewolf from Wings. Once again it was Ron who answered the question, ``It's not surprising you didn't find it anywhere in the Houses. The combined form isn't mentioned anywhere in books.'' Before any of the adults could ask the new list of questions that had erupted in their heads, Harry chimed in and continued Ron's explanation, ``you remember when we went on holidays around Europe, we managed to discover some new Potion and Alchemy materials, some of which are used to make different types of Animagus Potions.'' When Harry went back to eating cake, Percy jumped in finished the explanation, ``Amongst those Potions, one was capable of giving a Wizard a chance to get two Animagus Forms but the Potion was highly unstable and reactive. So, it was  rarely if ever made but we were already drawing from theoretical ideas and this was a existent Potion. We took some little bits from it and combined it with some high level Magical Herbs alongside Magical Beast Blood and made the final Potion.''

Looking at the kids who finished the explanation and went back to eating as if what they said weren't secrets to a revolutionary Potion but some lame facts from a random book, the Moms couldn't help but think to hit their kids for some reason.

(Time Skip: 7 years)

It has been seven years now and Akihiro is now ten years old. His little bro, Rikuo, seems to have made some friends at school and was quite popular with the girls, while he is a loner...

Well, to be more accurate Akihiro isolated himself, he just couldn't handle the damn brats who never stop talking, literally just won't stop talking. So, every day he would just eat lunch on the roof and leave before any of the kids try and talk to him.

As for his father... Akihiro saved him from dying by pushing him away before he got stabbed. And Hagoromo Gitsune... she was taken by the 'Left eye of Sanmoto' after his plan failed. Akihiro even got a nice katana from the mission reward... except for the fact he can't draw out the blade, which he still couldn't comprehend why the blade seemed stuck.

He had already done 100+ quests in the past seven years and received quite the number of rewards, ranging from foods to items to techniques. To be fair though, a bit over 50% of those rewards were all cookies... (A/N: Guys, I personally like chocolate chip cookies)

The system also went through an 'update' after he saved his father, and now instead of forcefully having to do random missions, Akihiro can choose what missions he wants to do or doesn't want to do from a list of missions, with the description, reward(s), and penalty attached to them. 

Other than that, Akihiro spent the past 7 years stea- cough* 'borrowing' some 'interesting books' from various martial arts dojos. 

Akihiro was quite surprised by the fact that these dojos even had their martial arts recorded in detail on books... maybe the 'God' guy was doing him a favor? And for his ability to steal things... two words: Blame gramps.

With all of the books he 'borrowed' he compiled all of it which turned into a sort of mixed martial arts style so he named it [Heaven's Path Mixed Martial Arts].

About his performance in school, both his parents and teachers had nothing to say. He had perfect marks on every test, project, homework, etc. and was praised by all the teachers. In other words, the perfect child, which made Wakana overjoyed just like any other mother would be, but she along with the teachers were worried about how he had no friends at school.

When they asked Akihiro about why he was ignoring all of the other classmates, as the teachers can see that some of them were interested in becoming friends with him or wanted some help from him with homework. Akihiro replied with one short sentence.

"They are annoying as f*ck"

Which got him a good slap on the back of the head from Tsurara instead of Wakana, and yes, Tsurara or otherwise known as 'Little Snow' attended elementary school together with him. After knowing that 'her' Akihiro-sama figured out her disguise, which was only changing her normal clothes to school clothes. Tsurara started to stick to him like glue like REALLY stick to him. She hugged his arm wherever he went, and 'oddly' girls no longer approached him which saved him some trouble.

What was he doing now? He was diligently flipping books.

"Akihiro-sama... isn't this illegal?" A girl with a mix of light blue and white hair questioned.

"Little Snow, literally for the 108th time. Breaking into someone else's property is illegal." A handsome brown-haired boy responded with a wry smile.

The girl and boy were Tsurara and Akihiro respectively. Akihiro started taking Tsurara with him whenever he went to 'borrow' books. His father, Rihan, just laughed it off along with his grandpa, Nurarihyon. Whenever his mother found out though he got an earful. He didn't understand, his gramps went everywhere stealing as he goes... and yet he can't even read a book? Perhaps it was just 'showing respect' to the elderly he guessed.

"Ok, I read all of the books here let's get out of here now Little Snow." Akihiro extended his hand towards Tsurara as she took his hand.

Akihiro pulled Tsurara into a princess carry as she started to madly blush, to the point her neck went red in embarrassment.

"Wh-Wh-What are you doing young master!?" Flustered Tsurara exclaimed.

"Well, since the shutters are unfortunately down and I do not have the patience to pick all of those locks. I thought we might as well leave through the window up there." Akihiro replied.

"And there is no need to be so flustered. I carried you back like this multiple times didn't I? When you stubbornly went through with my training regime and always collapsed at the end." Akihiro added with a teasing tone.

Akihiro jumped up nearly a meter high and flew through the window. This was a common scene for Tsurara which she kept as a secret at the request of Akihiro. With all of those [Body Refinement Cookies] he ate, his physique naturally became enhanced.

Akihiro still had brown hair but it was darker in color and went a bit past his shoulders. Although Akihiro isn't buff like a bodybuilder, he had clear lines indicating where each of his muscles are. He had a more mature aura around him compared to his peers which attracted attention where ever he goes.

Although his youkai bloodline still didn't awaken for some reason, and the LHP didn't help. Only informing him that his blood has 'flaws' which annoyed him a bit.

"Grandpa" Akihiro called out.

"Hmm?" Nurarihyon looked back at Akihiro. 

"Why do you think I can't turn into my youkai form like dad? Although I am strong in my human form, I want to try using 'fear'." Akihiro had a serious look on his face as he questioned the old man.

"Ho ho ho~, How did you learn about 'fear', Akihiro?" Nurarihyon had a sharp glint in his eyes as he questioned.

No one informed Akihiro about 'fear' so he shouldn't be able to know about it... Yet, here he was bringing up 'fear' out of nowhere.

"I asked dad what that weird black aura around him was when he is in his youkai form, and he just said 'fear'." Akihiro grinned as he can clearly see the old man was irritated.

Oh~~ How much trouble did this old man cause for him when he was younger... He was the one who had to go back and pay ALL of those food stalls his gramps stole from... Karma is a bitch.

"Sigh*... You would have found out about it sooner or later anyway... 'Fear' is a type of energy that we can gather from the negative thoughts of humans whether be it sadness, anger, or even fear.

No other human can utilize this energy unless they are part youkai, just like you. There are many different factions in the world, but you don't need to learn of that until you are older. 

As for you not being able to go into your youkai form, that is most likely because your blood hasn't been stimulated enough... even your father awakened his form when he was... cough* 5 years old, but he is ½ youkai and you are ¼ youkai so don't be too sad. That is all I will tell you, as for anything else you wish to know, learn it yourself." The old man gave a shit-eating grin as he whistled, walking back to his room to rest.

"..." Akihiro was speechless.

He already knew all of that, so basically he learned absolutely nothing...? Wait... the old man mentioned 'factions'. What other 'factions' are there? Did he mean Onmyoujis? 

"Argh! Damn it, the old man told me nothing!" Akihiro stormed off to train once again to cool off his mind...

Should I do another time skip to when Akihiro is 16 so that the plotline starts?

I know I am asking again, but how is the story so far? Is it too slow-paced? Fast-paced? If so at what parts of the story are too slow-paced or fast-paced?

The school board, some senior students, and few of the university professor's gathered that night for discussion.

"Good evening! as we all know it is time to choose skilled and talented students to undergo training. As part of our routine, new groups should be made and the floor is open for suggestions." The school president started speaking.

"I'd like to nominate Mr. Arthur Robles, we will need his expertise."

"I want to nominate Ms. Clara Bronte, she's excellent choice as an informant."

"I'm sorry, wouldn't be better that we train all freshmen students? By doing this we prevent the lack of resources."  one of the seniors asked after hearing the others vote.

"That is actually a good suggestion, if we do that, the only thing we have to prepare on is to choose team leaders. What do you think Mr. Cross?" A woman agreed and ask Mr. Cross, thus everyone looked at him while he was contemplating what was suggested.

"What you're suggesting is sound but the possible outcome is troubling for me. However, I do see the need to increase the number so... I would like to move the suggestion." Mr. Cross explanation.

"Now, that settles it. We start nominating for the team trainors then." The emcee mentioned.

The list making was tiring and long but comparing it from the pass nomination meeting, this was shorter but still end up at 1 in the morning. They have created 15 new set of leaders after much debate.

"By the end of next semester we will have a shorter list but more qualified groups." The emcee finalized and all left the room.

NEW YEAR CELEBRATION!!!

It was the eve before new year and all students were asked to prepare for the celebration. They were assigned in the different areas, some are in the kitchen, decorations, fireworks, music, and others. Arthur, Akira and Analyze were not spared with the work and Arthur is still thinking about how he would tell them about what he learned from the other school.

"Hey! Art, are you alright? you have been quiet lately." Arthur heard Akira ask and decided to tell them what he knows.

"It's nothing, I'm fine, but I have some important information to tell you guys." Arthur answered.

"Okey, its noisy out here. Why don't we move away from the crowd." Akira suggested. They both agreed and walk for at least 15 minutes before they stop.

"This place will be fine. Akira, do you remember Carl?" Art started.

"Yes, I remember him. Is it connected to what you have to say?"

"Actually he approached me months ago and ask me to read two books." He said and showed the books.

"I read this Bermuda thing last semester,  however it has missing pages." Akira said after looking at the titles.

"Good, you read it. Sis, you don't have to read it, it contains dates and events happened that are connected to the Bermuda Triangle."

"Brother, everyone knows about that place. what is the connection of this to Carl and what are you trying to tell us?" Ana replied and Art just sigh.

"This school was built to create protectors against whatever is inside the triangle. Each of the students are all recruited base on what they can do. The entrance exam is just one of them. Here, this are the last pages of the book. Carl gave it to me, if you plan on asking me where I get it." Both Akira and Ana read it, while he continued to talk.

"It is said that the creatures in this other book are found in there and they also recruit people from here to work for them. In addition, they can come in and go from that place without us noticing them because they look exactly like  humans in appearance."

"This is too much to take in, even if I partially doubt it. However, I know you brother and I trust you." Ana said looking at her brother.

"You said they look like us physically? How can we know that they are not?" Akira asked but suddenly remembered his past.

"They plan on training us, I dont know how but they will. We have to be prepared mentally when this happened." Art ended his explanation removing the reason behind the fight.

They become quiet for a few minutes before Akira start telling them a story.

"When I was in grade school, some of my classmates were making pranks to our teacher. They rarely get caught but one time a kid was standing beside the school building looking at the playground and some kids were playing. I went to ask him if he wants to join the team he just look at me, his eyes they were bright like fire then I heard someone shouting fire in the middle of the playground. So, I look at the playground and saw someone got caught by fire, when I look back at him his eyes were back to normal brown and he just turn around and left. To add to that I remember having a dream and I was being attack but someone came and saved me, its a woman with silver eyes."

"Silver eyes? If my assumption is true. I might know why they choose you too. Do you know what is your relationship to her? I went to some researches and articles and they found out that two people went in the triangle, a man and a woman. The female has black hair and the man has hair color of white as snow, this was 20 yrs ago."

"Did they mention that the woman has violet eye color?" Akira asked.

"Actually yes, the man has silver eyes. Why, do you know them?"

"No, a diary at home described her friend and her friends husband just as you say. I have no idea what my connection to them."

"Maybe not you but someone else from your family." Ana said

They went silent again, people near them are already doing the count down to one until the fireworks started. They watch the display and all students started to cheer and shout, some just went around taking pictures.

"Well... Happy New Year!!! I hope when the time comes, the three of us are in one group." Ana said breaking the silence.

Both just agreed and Arthur remembered why Carl told him about the school's agenda. He knows now that he's not alone and they are sticking together. They then went down and join in the celebration.

Hi! this is the first and only story I'm planning to make and I started to write this, year 2010 of august and its still on going. I already have an outline on how the story goes but I'm going to say in advance sorry for late update in the future. They finally arrived at the WEO's Wellington branch and went to curtain room to be transported to Orth. After they transported back to Orth, they went to Newcomer Building and met Sarah. "Hey, Mrs. Sarah. We want say thank you to you for giving us some facilities." Nash shooked Sarah's hand.
"It normal kids. We want our best talent get the best facilities. Just make sure you will do your best too." All of the kids then shook Sarah's hand. "Sure thing Mrs. Sarah. Thank you." Bagas said it with big smile on his face.
"Let's go kids." Noah said it while pointing on his watch. Nash replied, "We still have time, right? Take it slow Noah."
"Time is money, kids." Noah tried to straight to he point. "I have something else to do. I will drive you there." Then they entered the jeep and Noah then drove the kids to the Newcomer Building.

They arrived at the building after driving about an hour. This building was a huge building with ten floors. We could see many people standing here, they were soldiers that tasked to protect this building so the newcomer could train without afraid of their safety. The Newcomer Building located near a forest. Why? Because the main purpose of the building was to train the newcomer so in a year they could improve their survivability. We could call this building as a school, with the best security system.
"Here we are." Noah said it after parked his jeep. "So, here is our new school?" Bagas said it while he going out of Noah's jeep. "Yeah, we will study abroad here." Nash replied with sarcastic tone. "Correct. Study abroad." Via said id and chuckled.
"Oh come on kids, we don't have much excuses." Noah replied and then went out of his jeep. While walked towards the main gate of the building, Noah said, "Let's go kids." Then all of the walked together.

They arrived in front of the gate and the staff greet them, "Good afternoon sir Noah. Good afternoon kids. My name is Akira Sakaguchi." Nash shook Sakaguchi's hand and replied. "Hello Mr. Sakaguchi. I'm Nash and here is Via and Bagas." Then Via and Bagas introduce themselves. "Ah, Sakaguchi, is there a new report from the Head Tutor about our last meeting?" Noah asked to Sakaguchi. "Not yet, sir. Mr. Fin still has something else to care about. The incident we discussed last time was already taken care by the Security Departement."
"Good, but please don't forget to remind Mr. Fin that this incident happen in his territory so he will be interrogated soon enough." Noah replied with a serious face. "Alright, what should we do then, Sakaguchi? We need to do the administration right?"
"No need sir, these kids can go to their room. The administration was already been completed by Mrs. Sarah." Sakaguchi explained it with his always smiling face. "Woah, good then. I have something else to do, can you accompany them, Sakaguchi?" Sakaguchi accepted it with a nod. "Good bye kids, remember that you have your watch. Send he message when you get into trouble. I will come back at the day before your first class. We will have a quality time that time." Noah then walked away towards his jeep.
"Okay, kids. I will guide you to your room." And then they walked to the kids room.

On the way to their room, they aksed something to Sakaguchi. "Mr. Sakaguchi. I have a question-" Before Nash completed his word, Sakaguchi replied. "If your question has anything about facilities and the curriculum, we already prepared some books for you at your room." He said it with a faint smile on his face. "Ah, that will be convenient." Nash could only nod. Then Via asked a question, "Mr. Sakaguchi, If I may ask. What incident you and Noah talked before?" As always, our Via here. "Well, some newcomer just attached while went to the forest with their tutor. Everyone survived but had injuries with them." Well, WEO had the protection feature and yet there was still an incident happen. Of course, this made the kids shocked and worry about themselves. "No need to worry. We already increase the safety after that incident. Our safety protocols had been improved since then. The safety department made huge changes including the facilities they used. So, you can relax." That explanation made the kids a bit relaxed, but still, they worry about themselves.

They finally arrived at their room and went it. Their room was just like what Noah ever described. It looked like they have their own apartment with four rooms. After they went in they have some briefing led by Nash. "Okay guys, we need to make a rule here."
"Right,I agree with you." Via said it. "What rule do you have in mind, Nash?" then Bagas replied.
They sat down on their sofa in front of a big Flat LED TV. "First, about room. I think we can use two rooms for sleep, I will be with you Bagas. And for other two rooms, we can use it for training room and study room." Nash gave a suggestion. Via then replied, "Yes, you right. So we can put some books at the study room and some tool at training room. We already promised to get a better facilities here."
"Ah, I see. Okay, I agree with this rule. What next?" Bagas nodded in agreement.
"Next is our political stance here." Nash gave another suggestion. "What do you mean?" Bagas confused
"Like who will be in our friend list and threat list or so." Nash gave another explanation. "I agree. We don't know anyone here. Even Noah, we must be in caution with him before we really can put him in our friend list." Via gave another yes to Nash. Bagas then nodded, it indicated that he understood it.
"Well, the last is our daily routine. What must we do in a day. We must have a very good plan and a good teamwork." Another suggestion from Nash. "I get it, Nash. And I agree with you." Bagas gave his yes and Via nodded.
"Well, the rules are done. So, let put our stuff first and eat first." Nash said it and Via hurried to reply, "Yes, after we eat, let's have another talk. I have something in mind." Nash and Bagas then nodded.
They put their stuff in their room and changed their clothes. After that, they went to the canteen together.

At the canteen, they went to the queue immediately, and when they arrived in front of the staff that prepared the meal, the staff asked, "Hello, I never see you here, are you guys, newcomers?" Nash replied, "Yes, we are sir."
"Oh, don't call me sir. My name is Augusto Diaz, you can call me Gus. I'm 28 years old by the way." Via replied with a smile on her face. "We will be in your care Gus."
Then they ate and nothing happen. After that they went straight to their room as Via suggested to do.

At their room. They sat at the sofa and turn on the TV to decrease their tense.
"Okay, Via. What do you have in mind." Nash asked.
"I have tried the watch and I found that the watch has a very convenient feature. Party Mode." Via explained what was in her mind.
"Ah, I see…" Bagas nodded repeatedly. "Let's syncronize our watch then." Nash replied to Via.
They opened up their watch and sync them. Now they could monitor each other through the maps and GPS feature that been provided.
"Next, I want us to have our role. But I don't really know what can we do with our talent. I have an exceptional fire and a high amount of mana so I will fo  mage." Via gave an explanation.
"But, We heard before that we can do summon here. And we combine element." Bagas gave his opinion.
"Alright, I know what must we do. Let's ask Noah about the book and the tools that WEO promised." Nash said it and they message Noah.

Nash: Noah, we want to start studying and practice right now. So, when will the books and another thing come?
Noah: Ah, you're right. It will inform Mrs. Sarah right now. It will be arrived tonight. We already prepared it before.
Nash: Thanks, Noah.

"Hmm, looks like we must enjoy our selves first." Via said.

Living without any family was never easy. Nash Meridian, a young boy of sixteen, a handsome one at that with black hair and black eyes, never imagined that he was one of a few people on earth who was able to feel a magic aura. Along with Bagas and Via, three of them met an old man. That old man told them that they were called Exception. Not much human could feel aura just like them. What will they face in the future? No one knows. But the sure thing is their lives no longer the same.

A story of two worlds that living alongside each other. Normal earth and the parallel one where the normal earth inhabited by the normal human called Norm and the parallel one inhabited by the exception. The exception could move to one world and another and they had a rule, “Do Not Harm Norm!”

"Children, hurry! We have to get ready to leave. We have to be on the farm before night time," Auntie Anita barked. 

After breakfast, we were ordered by Auntie Anita to leave the kitchen clean. It would be our contribution to the upkeep of the temporary evacuation site in the backyard. We drew lots on who would wash the dishes, clean the kitchen and segregate the trash. I groaned when my name was drawn. I hate washing the dishes. Justine asked me If I'd like to swap with him. That was sweet of him but I said no. He was assigned to read a story to the children. In Filipino! Mrs Huang asked him to do it so he was not included in the draw lots. 

While we do our assigned tasks, Gary and some of the household staff assembled a makeshift classroom in a shaded platform just outside the kitchen. He gathered the children. There were 10 of them. He distributed crayons and drawing paper sheets to everyone. He introduced Justine to the kids.

"This is Kuya* Justine. He is our friend from New York. Do you know where New York is?" Gary began the reading session.

"Yes, Kuya Gary! It's in America!" the children answered.

"You're right, very good! Do you want Kuya Justine to read to us a story?" Gary continued.

"Yes, yes! Please!" the children answered excitedly.

Justine sat in the center and cleared his throat. He then practiced his vocal chords by doing different sounds. The children laughed. A little girl confidently tugged at his shirt sleeve. 

"Can I sit on your lap, Kuya?" the girl asked. Justine took the girl and sat her on his lap. Justine's and my eyes locked for a brief moment. 'Can I sit on your lap, too?' He laughed silently.

"Me too, me too!" some of the children said. They rushed to Justine. One put his arms around his neck. Another hooked her arm on his arm. Another one took his hand. Gary disentangled the children's hold on Justine and told them that he would have them instead. The children joyfully agreed. It was evident that the children were familiar with their Kuya Gary. They must have come to the Huang's residence a number of times. 

Justine introduced the book: Ang Pakikipagsapalaran ni Isko sa Pagyanig (The Rat Who Survived an Earthquake)*. It was the story of a young rat that survived an earthquake. It talked about what to do in cases of emergencies in such a way that children are not frightened. 

The children were mesmerized by the story. Justine used different voices to convey different characters. Sometimes he would ask the children to create a sound, like the sound of an earthquake. The children stamped their feet on the ground and pounded the table. They also made sound of panicked people by imitating their parents. The parents who were nearby were flabbergasted by this judging from a number of dropped jaws.  The children also made sounds of blaring ambulances. They also reenacted the 'duck-cover-and-hold' protocol when a shaking occurred. Laughter would ensue after. The children were obviously enjoying the session. The parents were teary-eyed watching their kids interact with Kuya Justine and Kuya Gary. It dawned on me that the goal of this session was to get the kids talk about their ordeal during the earthquake. It was a sort of a psycho-social debriefing through story-telling and drawing. I had read about this method somewhere. This makes the survivors manage their emotions after a terrible event. The Huangs were truly admirable on how they treat their employees.

I was mesmerized too. Justine was a revelation in this session. He sounded funny when he spoke Filipino but sounded like a local would when he read it. And the way he interacted with children was impressive. I was so proud of him. 

"Oi, Nina, we don't have all day. Rinse the plates," Alexis nagged.

"Yeah, yeah, yeah!" I answered, annoyed.

"Why don't you just go and sit on your beloved Justine's lap instead of being useless here?" Victor seconded. I splashed both of them with a little water. They were about to retaliate when Auntie Anita passed by to check on what we were doing. 

A heartwarming applause rewarded Justine. I clapped too. Justine bowed several times to the kids making them clap some more. When the applause settled, Gary instructed the kids to draw whatever come to their minds about the story. The children eagerly sat down and concentrated on creating their masterpiece. 

The 3 cleaning teams were done and  had passed Auntie Anita's standards. We were free to observe the children's drawings. The girl who sat on Justine's lap drew a stick figure of a girl and a taller boy holding hands. There was also a table full of books. I asked her who were the people in her drawing.

"That's Kuya Justine and me. When I grow up, I'm going to marry him so he can read to me a hundred books everyday like these books on the table," the little girl said while pointing on her drawing. 'Awwwww! This girl is quite smart, isn't she?'

"You have to be a very good girl then, okay? You have to listen to your parents, eat vegetables and drink water, hmn?" I encouraged my very young rival, amused. The girl nodded. 

Justine laughed and scooped the girl and raised her in the air. He asked the girl to kiss him on the cheek. The girl gave her a wet kiss. Justine put her back on the ground and adjusted his height so he could talk to her eye to eye.

"Celeste, I'm honored by your proposal but you see I am already taken." Justine took my hand.

The girl named Celeste pouted. She put her hands on her waist and scrutinized me. "Can she read a book too?"

"Of course, that's why I like her. She's Ate* Nina by the way," Justine said, playfully. I wasn't sure but I think Gary stiffened when my name was mentioned. 

"Well, it's okay. I will marry both of you. She can read me books at night." Celeste decided. 

"Awwwww, you just broke my heart, Celeste. Didn't you say you're going to marry me?" Gary said clutching his heart. Celeste went to her and hugged his legs. 

"Don't worry Kuya Gary, I'll marry you first. You can buy all the books I want, okay?" Celeste said, hugging him tighter to console him.

Everyone erupted in laughter. Such a smart cute girl. Her innocence was refreshing. She went back to her drawings. Some of the kids showed their works too. Gary and Justine patiently complimented each one by giving him/her a thumbs-up or a high-five. When the session was finished, they helped the kids post their works around the kitchen. Gary encouraged the kids to say thank you to Justine and the rest of us. We said our goodbyes. 

We were going back to the main house when Celeste ran after us and called Gary.

"Kuya Gary, Kuya Gary! she rushed towards us.

We all stopped to hear what the little girl had to say.

"Is Ate Nina the same girl in your story Finding Nina?" Celeste inquired, curious.

"Ah, you mean Finding Nemo?" Gary answered, a blush starting to cover his face.

"No, not the fish. Finding Nina! The story about a boy finding his lost love." Celeste clarified. "You told us to help the little boy find her. We pretended to go the market, to the forest, to the park, calling her." 

"You would say 'Nina are you here, my love?' and we would answer, 'Sorry, she's not here!' remember?" a little boy joined in.

"No, no, no!!! It's a different Nina. The Nina in the story has red hair and orange shoes, remember? And she's more beautiful." Gary protested, his face crimson.

"I bet the Nina in the story is kinder too," Justine volunteered. Gary threw him a grateful look. 

"Yeah, I think it's a different Nina" the little boy agreed. 

"I'm glad it's a different Nina. The boy will be sad if his Nina is Ate Nina because Kuya Justine found her first." Celeste concluded. 

"No, I don't think so. The boy will still be happy because at least Nina has been found, right?" Gary said, But he said it more like he was talking to himself.

The two young interrogators looked confused but nodded just the same. They were done asking questions. They ran back to their playmates who were already munching on snacks. 

Gary looked like he was wishing for the ground to swallow him. There was an awkward silence. 'Has a secret been revealed?' I didn't know how to take all this. The gang gave me impish smile, suppressing a laugh. I was surprised when Justine approached Gary and patted him on his shoulder. Gary looked at him meaningfully.

"Thanks, bro." Gary said softly. 

"Wow. What-long-hair-you-have, sister!" the girls teased, flipping their hair. I glared at them.

We all trooped back to the house. We can hear Auntie Anita's nagging.

“What about you? Do you like someone?” he mimicked my question.

“Hey, I asked first!” I protested. 

“You first,” he said.

No, you go first!” I countered. 

“Ladies first,” he continued. 

I pinched his arm and gave him a sharp look. He held up his hand  and moved to face me. We laughed. 

“You,” he said. 

“No, you go first!’ I said almost shouting. 

“You,” he repeated. “Nina, I like you.”

Sparks flew when a 17-year-old New Yorker Justine met a 15-year-old farm girl Nina on a hot summer day. What followed was a summer of delicious firsts: first love, first kiss, first sip of alcohol, and the inevitable first heartbreak. 

A summer filled with all the beautiful moments we’ve dreamed of—watching sunsets, dancing in the rain, counting stars, and playing games all night. It was a summer of forging friendships and building bonds that were unbreakable. Then something happened and it was not summer anymore. And we grew up.

Breakfast was always very early, mostly so we would have the time to prepare for our classes beforehand as well. At least, that was what I assumed, so that's how I used it. After breakfast, I decided to do some more studying in the library. The library had some separate chambers to do so. I think they wanted to compensate for the fact that we didn't have any space in our rooms to study, except for our beds. Which was not ideal of course. And they had the space anyway, so why not build a few rooms in the library where you could study. I didn't expect Zuko to come as well, but he mumbled something about having to write the herbs essay anyway and came along. Upon arrival, I took out my word list and stated studying for the test on Eshanan. It only took me about half an hour to know the word list by heart. Languages had always been easy for me and with tricks such as linking the words to other words that I knew, it became child's play to learn a language.

Since I didn't see Zuko study for language class at all, I decided to ask him about it. Even Alex studied for the test and he hates it. But we would be graded on it combined after all, just like everything else. It wasn't just me dependent on it either, but the other four as well. It was our score as a pair that counted for the everyday scoreboard and that would mean we were punished or rewarded, but it would be the score of our combined group that would determine if we passed the classes or not. That's one messed up system really. On the one hand they ask us to compete against each other and on the other hand they make sure that you are dependent on each other if you ever want to get out of here.

Zuko's answer came as a surprise though: "I don't have to study for anything that revolves around studying word lists by heart or anything of the kind."

"How come?" I was very curious. I know studying like that was boring and all. And sure, there was also a chance you were just good at it. But even I had to look through the word list at least twice to remember it.

"It's... I...," it was clear he had a hard time starting off his sentence. "I remember everything, okay. I always have. As long as it's visual or auditory, I remember. I don't really have to do anything for that." Yeah, I sure didn't see that coming. But immediately after, another thought crossed my mind.

"It must be painful to remember everything."

"Hmmm, is that so. Everyone else would call it a gift," he responded.

"I am not everyone else, am I? I would not want to remember every moment of pain in my life. I already have a hard time forgetting some of them." The most painful ones always stay in your memory.

"Like the reason you knew about the poisonous flower? It's not like any of the books we got from the library contain it." Damn, that hadn't slipped his attention then. And why would it? He could recall every single detail of that moment. The pain must have been readable all over my face. I didn't want to talk about it, so I changed my approach.

"Here you are asking me to tell you my life's story, while you don't talk about your own. The only thing I know of you is that you remember everything and you act like a jerk most of the time."

"Act like a jerk. Is that a nice way of calling me a jerk? 'Cause you wouldn't be wrong there."

But I chose to say 'act like' for a very specific reason. I didn't inherently believe that Zuko was a bad person. Actually, I think he may be just clawing around hurting others, because he was terrified to be hurt by others. Of course, I would never actually voice those thoughts, so I just left it at saying maybe.

I thought he would leave it at that, but he wasn't content with not getting an answer to his question. I think he also understood my point of view though, as he proposed the following: "We still have half an hour before we have to get to class. How about this: A question for a question? You ask me whatever you want to know and I answer truthfully. I get a question in return. If I don't want to answer the question, you get the right to refuse an answer as well."

"How would I know you are telling the truth?" That was asking a lot of trust in this stage of getting to know each other. I wasn't worried about others hearing us talk. I had already noticed the rooms in the library were pretty soundproof. That was most likely because they were meant as a place to study and the best way to do that was by not constantly getting distracted by other sounds.

"You don't. You will have to trust me on that, same as vise versa. As a compromise, you can start with a question." I'm not sure that was actually the better option of the two, but I had to admit to myself that being able to talk to Zuko sure was a lot better than how our relationship had started off. Maybe there wasn't much harm in playing along. I could always refuse to answer a question. Of course, that also meant I possibly wouldn't get an answer to my question either.

I just had to come up with an answer first. I didn't want to ask about his scar. There's more than one way to get a scar, but they would almost always be linked to very painful memories. Plus, a scar doesn't define a person. What question could I ask that would let me know him better instead?

I already knew what question he was going to ask me in return. Did I even want to answer that? I could answer it honestly without telling the full story. Leave out the very painful details. Then the question I asked in return wouldn't have to be an equally painful question. I thought about it for a moment and then decided on the question:

"When did your powers first show?"

I could see a small spark of surprise in his eyes, telling me he thought I would ask about his scar the first chance I got. He didn't have to think long to reply.

"About 1,5 years ago. I was fourteen and I got into a fight with some people. I can handle myself fairly well in a fight, but with three to one my chances were pretty slim. My power allowed me to win the fight kind of... It allowed me to live and tell the tale, let's put it like that." His story gave me an idea for another question to ask, but I knew I had to answer one first.

"So, I take it your question remains the same?" I asked, just to be sure.

"Yes," he replied, "how did you know the flower was poisonous?"

I sighed, thinking of what I should and should not tell. What kind of explanation could I give that was satisfying enough, but not too painful?

"That flower... it grows in the valley in which I grew up. It's not extremely common there though. One day, I received a gift from someone. The flower was on top. I didn't know it was poisonous yet at the time and it is a really beautiful flower, so I picked it up. After about 5 seconds, I sincerely regretted that. Needless to say, it didn't exactly help me trust people."

I should have known that answer wouldn't be enough as he asked me another question.

"So who gave you the flower?" But there was no way I would give that away so easily.

"Isn't that another question?" I replied. That even made him smile a little.

"I guess it is. Alright, your turn to ask a question." I had already thought about the question I wanted to ask and just like his question, it was a follow-up question to his story.

"How did you get into the fight?" He looked like he didn't want to answer that, but he changed his mind and answered it anyway.

"As you may have deduced from Taliyah's comments, I used to live on the streets. At the start, I didn't know all the rules yet. I went into the wrong territory and was cocky enough not to leave when they asked me to do so. That pissed them off, hence I got in over my head. If my powers hadn't shown, I would surely have lost that fight badly.

I generally didn't expect rumours to me true and especially not when the source was Taliyah. But thinking back, she seemed to know what she was talking about when she insulted him. Was that because she heard the rumours from someone else? Or did they maybe already know each other? I could ask that next, but I wasn't sure how many more questions I wanted to answer. Particularly not if they were painful ones.

I still had to answer his question of course. He had answered mine as well, after all. And that was a pretty personal story. But I had defended myself from letting people know me for years. Closed myself off to everyone. It was very hard to let go off the wall I built inside my mind. To make myself look vulnerable.

The deciding factor that made me trust him enough to answer his question with the full truth, was my memory of fear class. He didn't know anything about me, but he still trusted me when I asked him to. What gave me the right to deny him that same trust. It also probably wouldn't be the last time we had to trust each other out of necessity, so why not start now?

"That answer to your question requires a bit more explanation, I think," I started off and then I continued my story with some harsh truths. "See, I was never exactly popular. I wanted to be myself and that apparently meant I was not normal enough for everyone's taste. They excluded me from everything and found lots of pleasure in calling me names or insulting me in some other way. It was very lonely." I paused a moment, before I went on to tell the rest of the story. I'd gotten used to the bullying, but the next part was more painful to talk about.

"I grew desperate... For friendship... or at least for someone to actually be nice to me. So when someone finally decided I was worth the trouble, I ignored all the danger signs and trusted him right away. It must have been so easy for him to deceive me. To let me think that he liked me. And though I wasn't romantically interested in him or anything, I did think of him as a friend and I was delighted that there was someone that loved me for who I am." I sighed, thinking back of what unfolded next.

"I found out the hard way that I was extremely stupid and naive. Kids can be really cruel and when their bullying didn't have the effect that they wanted anymore, they found a way to hurt me even more. Maybe they were hoping that I would kill myself touching that flower. I can tell you that it hurts enough to wish you were dead. All from a beautiful harmless-looking flower. I learned a life lesson from that though. Not everything is what it looks like. It also completely destroyed my trust in people of course." Zuko was silent for a while.

"So why did you trust me with this story then?" he asked eventually.

"You know I don't have to answer that question, right?" 

"Though, technically, that is also a question..."

"Tag questions aren't real questions and you know it," I interrupted him. He smiled. Was he teasing me?

"You don't have to answer it. I was just wondering. I usually don't inspire others to trust me and you have every right not to."

"I thought about that," I answered honestly, "and then I figured that you didn't have a reason to trust me either and you did so anyway. So why wouldn't I?" I don't think he knew what to say in return, but luckily for him he didn't have to say anything. We needed to get to class.

Involuntarily placed in a school that turns people into assassins in order to invade the neighbouring countries, Luna is not exactly the happiest person in the world. She is not exactly good at making friends and this is a world where making enemies may cost you dearly. On top of that, everyone has secrets they don't want getting out, but how hard is it to keep secrets in a place where everyone wants to find out what you're up to?

Throughout all of Arteria's chaotic thoughts over what had happened before and seeing the other lead character in the story, Arty was aware enough to join the others and eat their dinner once it's ready and then when it's time for bed, Arty and Emyrie went straight to sleep and rest until another new day arrives.

Before Arty closed her eyes and surrendered into slumber, she thought to herself that she might be able to think clearly by the next day and start making plans and decisions over what she's going to do.

Once the next day had come, the sun rising and shining its light through the open cottage windows, Arty instantly woke up early and first to face the day.

She sat up on her bed and looked to see that Emyrie is still asleep, and Arty was satisfied at that as she got off the bed, changed her clothes quickly, and went off to the library to start thinking deeply and make plans on what to do to play out her role as the main character of the story.

As she tiptoed quietly, checking on the adults to see if they're still asleep or busy doing something else in the early morning, she found that they are and headed straight to the room where there are all the books she needed.

She looked around, grabbed the most important books she needs to learn and know, and then started reading through them to gain more knowledge on them and the world she's in.

Though she might have needed Emyrie's help, the little girl magician is still a child so it looks like Arty is going to be doing this alone for the time being.

It was fortunate for Arty that she has an intelligent mind to absorb all that she can to learn and know everything.

It took a few hours for her to process all the books she's reading and stored them in her head before she heard some noticeable sounds that the adults seemed to be searching around for her, and Arty hurriedly put away all the books, but she marked those that she'll continue later.

Arty went out and played along, as usual, being the cute young girl that she is, and her grandparents smiled back when they saw her and called her over for breakfast.

Emyrie had just arrived, seeing that she's still a bit sleepy when her mother got her to eat, then the small family gathered around to have their breakfast.

They didn't notice at all that Arty was being slightly absentminded and that she was thinking deeply over something.

After breakfast, Emyrie piped out that she and Arty are going to play and Arty didn't protest as she went along and needed the short break since she spent almost a long time reading the books in the library.

The grandparents and Emyrie's mother consented and let them go but they also cautioned them to not go too far and get themselves lost in the forest.

Arty said in a responsible way to promise them that they won't and they almost gush at her adorable childishness.

Once Emyrie and Arty went out and play tag and hide-and-seek around the cottage, it was almost noon and nearly lunchtime that Emyrie suddenly stopped and went back into the cottage to see if lunch is ready yet.

Arty stayed behind outside, let herself lie on the grassy soft ground and look up into the cloudy blue sky.

She let herself relax a bit, while she's thinking deeply in her mind over whatever she's thinking.

Arty mentally sighed knowing that some of her decisions and plans she's making and about to make are way too hasty and fast.

But after seeing the other main character Prince Adrian back in the town before, she had no choice.

She had to find the magic weapon that is the Fiery Blade and find allies soon in order for the rebellion against the Mad King to start forming and find a way to defeat the crazy king without dying.

Even though there weren't any whispers about her yet since it's too early to tell, it won't take long for rumors to spread and reach towards the villainous king that the wielder of the Fiery Blade might have been chosen and found.

And she didn't want to die that early.

So for starters, she needed to make a list, an important list with all the key factors that she had created, known, and written into the story before it comes to an end.

First, of course, finding exactly where the Fiery Blade is and be its newly chosen wielder as the story goes.

Next, finding the exact allies who are the key to the rebellion against the Mad King.

Next again, meeting Prince Adrian when the time comes and have him brought to the fold of the rebellion against his crazy tyrannous father.

And next again, find out and discover how to activate the hidden power of the Fiery Blade to defeat the Mad King, without being sacrificed and then die at the end.

Then finally, finding the way back home in the real world.

Arty didn't know what to do again as she pondered over all of this. There's been obstacles and difficulties concerning the unexpected changes in the story, but she believed that as the main character and as its writer, she'll be able to breeze through it without any problems.

Her determination into seeing this through and trying to find a way back home to her former modern world has given her the motivation and drive to do this.
