"Well it does seem more ancient than ordering things with a tablet," I nonchalantly replied. 

The food that came from the tablet probably tasted better and fancier than this restaurant. Plus, the food from the tablet would instantly appear after the order, which meant that there were no people involved in serving or making the food.

While Luke looked around the humble-looking restaurant, the server placed our food onto our table about ten minutes later. Even though the food didn't look bad, I could tell it was inferior to the food that came from the tablet. However, both Luke and I were starving after all that shopping that we gobbled up all the food to leave the restaurant shortly after. 

I wondered what we should do next after checking off all the items on my list in things I could do. The only item left was going to the bookstore. 

'There would be things like manga and light novels, right?' I thought while walking towards the map.

It seemed that the bookstore was all the way across the other side of the mall. I spotted the hours of operation on the bottom of the map. 

'Four hours before the mall closed.' I concluded after I subtracted the time remaining. 
 
It was enough time to look through all the books that I was hungry for after landing in this world. I quickly ran towards the bookstore while Luke was nowhere to be seen when I occasionally looked back. 

'He is probably struggling with the bags,' I dismissed the thought of Luke. 

Whenever I was in the bookstore in my past life, I wouldn't leave until the store closed as I got too engrossed in the books. My eyes tinkled as I entered the manga section hidden in the second floor near the back.

When I immediately picked up the familiar 'book' and I couldn't stop reading. 

'It's been six years since I picked up a decent 'book' like this,' I almost cried from the thought.

Maybe that was why I didn't notice the marble that kept on vibrating in my pocket. When the bookstore announced that it was about to close, I ended up buying several interesting new 'books'. I pleasantly skipped out of the mall towards the same entrance I entered to catch the bus. 

I frowned when I detected a young boy with panicked eyes with tons of bags in both his hands pleading for help to the people around him. Naturally, he was surrounded by a large crowd that couldn't ignore an beautiful child asking around if they had seen a young girl with red hair and unique orange eyes. 

I instantly turned my gaze away from Luke with a great amass of guilt immediately after he spotted me outside.

"Hey Luke!" I nervously greeted him.

I forgot to contact Luke after I was engrossed in reading some manga in the bookstore. I did feel some faint vibration in my pocket, but I ended up ignoring it while telling myself that I would answer the call later. 

[Block All Calls] I changed my setting when I got annoyed from the buzzing that kept on interrupting the climax part of the book.

Luke dropped the bags he was holding while he promptly sprinted towards me. He lightly pinched my cheeks while I pretended to wince in pain. 

"I'll hold the bags from now on?" I asked cautiously. 

I bent down to pick up the bags, as Luke let go of my cheeks after he relieved some of his former panic. 

The crowd dispersed while some passersby sighed with relief.  

"Well, I'm going to go catch my bus now. See you next we - eekk?" I was stopped from running to the bus stop after I picked up my bags.

Luke stood frozen in his spot while he grabbed onto my wrist. 

The next time I blinked, I found myself standing in front of a large mansion. 

"Can you grab Rika's bags and deliver it to her house?" Luke asked to the maid coming towards us.

Luke's mansion towered over me as I immersed myself into his other worldly life. I guessed rich people really did live a different life than my average room filled with cheap stuffed dolls and princess dresses from when I was four. 

When the maid took my bags away, Luke grabbed my hand to drag me into a room that resembled a fancy living room with fancy leather couches and crystal glass tables. He signalled me to sit down as I silently sat down onto his couch. 

"Do you know why you're here?" Luke angrily asked. 

At this rate, it looked like Luke was going to start another lecture again. I knew when his eyes started to narrow with a certain smile plastered over his face, I was in for another scolding. 

I made myself swell up some tears and started to knell down on the couch to make me seem more pitiful, "I know it was irresponsible of me to behave this way, but when I picked up a book in the bookstore, I lost track of time."

"Next time, I'll make sure to get your calls when we go out like today and I'll go shopping on my own to not get you involved," I added when Luke was still eerily smiling. 

These lectures usually started when I slacked off too much in our study sessions together. I struggled to keep my focus up for long periods of time as I was tortured with preparing with the SATs every day in my former life. But even when I studied for the SAT, I would reward myself with tiny breaks by sleeping throughout the night. 

However, I couldn't even have that small reward in this life due to the time-space rooms. It would feel like an eternity had passed by once I left the study room with great exhaustion.

Every time I felt like I was going to pass out from all the studying, my respect for Luke grew as he displayed no signs of exhaustion even though he was going through the same things. 

"I'm not mad because you called me out to go shopping together. It's because you ran off on your own and I had no way to contract you as you weren't getting my calls." Luke replied madly.

"I told you that we should stick together. I read that the third district is dangerous because it's still underdeveloped compared to the second and first district." Luke added to support his initial message.

"Well nothing happened today," I softly muttered.

"I hope you figure out what you've done wrong in this room tonight. The maid already left a message for your parents that you'll be sleeping over tonight." Luke left me alone in the room. 

Sometimes, Luke tried to act like my second parent. I knew I appeared a little unreliable due to my lost memories of my early childhood, but sometimes Luke stepped over the line like today. 

I took out the new 'book' that I bought earlier today out of my shirt and starting reading as I had no intention on 'reflecting'. 

In my second year of elementary school, I started to order my uniforms a little bigger than my actual size when I realized it was practical for hiding stuff. I hid my secret stash of junk food I bought from the tablet into my pyjamas to snack on during the night. 

Oddly, it eventually became a habit of mine as I kept on putting small things inside my shirt that I wanted to hide from Luke.

Half-way through the book, I heard footsteps coming towards the room. I quickly hid the book back into my shirt before I heard the door opening. Luke entered the room with a tray full of lavish food that was likely my dinner. The waft of delicious food entered into my nose.  

"I'm not so hungry, so you can take the food back." I told him when he was about to place the tray onto the table.

Unfortunately, I ate half of my stash of junk food to commemorate reading some manga for the first time in six years. I reminisced about the best thing I did in my former life and it was eating junk food while reading a piece of manga.

Since I wasn't planning to eat any more food today, I pushed the tray back towards him. 

Luke's eyes started to narrow with his familiar eerie smile instantly plastered onto his face. 

"What are you hiding Rika?" He studied me carefully.

"Nothing!" I answered with a bit of panic in my voice.

I abruptly took a step back for every step Luke took towards me. Unfortunately, I encountered a dead end few steps later as Luke observed me intensely to try to find the 'thing' I was supposedly hiding.

Luke suddenly grabbed my shoulders to shake me lightly to revolve his suspicions. My book awkwardly fell out of shirt, but luckily my secret stash of junk food was taped to the inside of my shirt so it didn't fall out.

I always carried around a tiny roll of tape in my pocket of my school blazer. Thankfully nobody ever imagined someone carrying a practical item on their bodies in the first district other than sparkling accessories. 

"What's this?" Luke asked.

"The 'book' I bought at the bookstore today." I replied back while wincing at the folded cover of my new 'book'. 

A friendly cat-girl brightly smiled as she posed in a typical Japanese school uniform. She was hugged by her similar loli friend with white bunny ears that complemented her long neon-colored hair. I sighed as the book with a semi perverted cover had to be the one that fell.

Luke picked up the book on the ground, "Is this 'thing' the reason you're not eating dinner?"
I rushed towards the tray of food on the table as I flushed with embarrassment and grabbed a fork to start eating, "No, I'll eat the dinner that you brought me now."

I forced myself to eat some egg salad as I tried to appear obedient after taking a quick glance at Luke's scary expression.

Luke walked over to sit on the couch to look over the 'book' more closely. 

His eyes widened up as he flipped through the fascinating graphics of the girls clinging onto the male protagonist to become energized with more power. Occasionally, I found Luke's eyes to broaden from interest when he encountered something he had never imagined before. Unfortunately, most times it happened, it was bad news.

He probably never picked up a 'book' like manga before because he grew up in a sheltered family in the first district. Luke's curiosity quickly turned into disapproval as he frowned after closing the 'book'. 

After I finished stuffing more food into my mouth, I asked, "Can I have my 'book' back now?"

"I'll be confiscating it for now," Luke avoided my hands that tried to grab for the book.

"Please finish the rest of the food to -"

"I'm not hungry anymore, I can't eat more than this. Plus, I want to go back home now. I'm pretty sure I learned my lesson now, so I think you can stop with the lecturing." I whined as I interrupted him while my hands captured air instead of the 'book'. 

"I'm sorry that I ran off on my own and I promise from now on I'll stick with you if we ever go out." I continued while sulking.

I promised myself that I would never go out with Luke in my holiday again. It was bad enough to stare at his expressionless while he analyzed the manga with his bright eyes. I blamed myself as it was my fault for inviting him during our precious break time as I hid from the shame of carrying a mildly perverted shounen manga. 

Maybe it looked as if I was reflecting with my head down from my depression of others reading my embarrassing book. 

Luke walked to sit beside me to pat my head while comforting me, "I'll let you go back home today because I think you have figured out what you have done wrong. However, I'm still going to take that book."

'Please don't take that book!' I internally screamed.

However, I needed to get home soon to organize my thoughts. I blindly nodded as Luke escorted me to the teleportation gate in his mansion.

When I fully regained my awareness of my surroundings, I found myself back in my bedroom with a toppling number of fancy shopping bags placed in front of my bed.

I jumped into my fluffy bed to cheer myself up as I tried to get rid of bad thoughts. 

I could always hope that Luke would throw out the book on his own. Even though I was curious to read the other half of the 'book', I always had the chance to the library to borrow one out.

After going through the eventful day like a fast- forwarding spiraling film, I sank into the darkness as I thought: 'I'm never ever bringing Luke anywhere with me if possible anymore~,' with great regrets. 


I was captured and put onto a stake to be lit on fire as part of the ongoing witch hunt conducted throughout the land. I had to do something. But, this life really sucked. 

This all started when I was accidentally killed by God. 

"I'm sorry, I didn't mean to kill you. It was just that I was overworked lately by my superior and I just wanted some time to relax and vent my stress out," he confessed.

"So, while I was snacking, I accidently dropped one potato chip into the human realm where the child tripped over the potato chip onto a den of steep stairs." God guilty admitted.

So I reincarnated into the most adorable girl with the largest orange-speckled eyes that contrasted her pale white skin void of any imperfections.

'How could someone look this pretty?' I thought as I admired my new appearance.

I was nowhere close to this pretty in my previous life. Did God put me into this new vessel as an apology?

But some things were too good to be true.

"I still get to continue with my naps on the weekends?" I tried to confirm with them.
No one answered as I almost cried from giving up my rare nap times from the mess I got involved with. This life was too bothersome!

If it was a normal girl, then she might be scared or something, but the one who was facing this group of people was Erina. She hugged her arms and snorted.
The boys who lined up saw that Erina was a beautiful girl, so they didn't say anything.
It could be said that it was the privilege of a beautiful woman.
The queue continued.
As the Queen of Tootsuki Academy, this was the first time for Erina to do such things as queuing. Of course, she wouldn't find it novel or interesting.

Erina was silent while listening.
The people who bought "Viking Shounen Weekly Manga" gathered together in twos or threes then started their discussion about each story in the magazine since all of them were very wonderful.
Erina was eavesdropping on them silently.
Although she had read the manga manuscript one, listening to a lot of people who discussed the plot of each manga in the magazine. She thought it was very novel and interesting. She was quite proud since she could see that everyone really liked the magazine which his company published.
Of course, although most people were praising the magazine, there were few people who were criticizing the magazine.
Erina didn't mind about this and had often heard such a thing. After all, she was the top figure within the Tootsuki Academy. Although she was very beautiful and talented, there were some people who often criticized or vilified her secretly.

The female staff handed Erina a copy of "Viking Shounen Weekly Manga", which was also sealed in plastic film.
Erina took the manga and walked away while also waving her long golden hair, leaving the group of men who were mesmerized by her.
"Sigh... Why did you forget to ask for her phone number just now?" The boy regretted it while hammering his chest.
"Forget it, such an arrogant and beautiful girl, how could she be worthy of us?"
"I wonder what kind of man that is her type...."

Leaving the bookstore, Erina stopped a taxi on the side of the road before hurriedly going back to the Tootsuki Academy.
Inside the car, she couldn't wait to unpack the manga magazine. She saw a portrait of various main characters in the story inside the manga for the first cover of "Viking Shounen Weekly Manga". She could see that the characters were very lively and it could attract a lot of people's attention. She thought that Haru had done a good job on the cover.
Erina opened the manga and the first manga that she saw was "Naruto", but then she felt a little shock in her heart. Even though she had read the manuscript once before, when she looked at the "Viking Shounen Weekly Manga" on her hands, she had a different feeling on her heart and it made her even more excited than the recognition of the dishes she made.
Excited, she couldn't help but call Haru.
But when the phone was just dialed out, she regretted it, but it was useless to regret it since the phone was connected right away.
"Erina?"
Haru's voice came from the phone and asked, "It's quite rare for you to call me, what's wrong?
Erina sighed in relief, but when she wanted to say something she heard the voice of a girl.
"Haru! Get me my clothes! I need it to bring it with me!"
"Don't you have a secretary? Why not ask him?"

A helpless voice could be heard on the phone.
Erina frowned and asked, "Who is that?"
"That's Alice." Haru brought clothes from Alice's room to his car. "She is helping me to make the dish."
Erina frowned further since she didn't know that today was the day when Alice decided to help Haru to make the dish.
"Where are you now?"
"I'm in Alice's house, but I'll go out after we have prepared everything," Haru said.
"Don't move! I'll go there!" Erina said without hesitation then closed the phone.

Haru looked at his smartphone and felt a bit confused.
"Who is that?" Alice asked.
"Erina." Haru looked at Alice and asked, "You didn't tell her that you're going to help me today?"
Alice smiled awkwardly and said, "I - I forgot about it.... tehe..." She acted cutely as if she didn't do anything wrong, but then she smiled. "It seems that Erina is really interested in you, do you want me to help you to get closer to her?" She knew that Haru was Erina's fiance, but she was happy that she could spend time with him.
Haru flicked her forehead and said, "Don't joke around. Let's go since this dish is quite special."
Alice sighed and looked at the seal on the styrofoam box which was placed in his car. "I just can't believe that you really bring both whole seals along with 500 little auks bird." She looked at him and asked, "Where did you get it?"
"Greenland," Haru said.
Alice nodded and said, "The smell of this dish isn't good. Let's search for another place to prepare this dish."
"Yeah, your mansion might turn smelly if we cook this dish here," Haru said. He looked at Alice's secretary and said, "Kurokiba, help me later."
Kurokiba nodded and felt a bit interested in the dish since it was his first time seeing it. He looked at Haru and wondered what Haru's relationship with Alice was. 'Is it fiance?' He didn't think that it was strange when he thought about Alice's family.
"But we need to be careful since if this dish turns bad there might be dangerous bacteria inside," Alice said with a serious expression.
"Don't worry, I have brought a microscope with me," Haru said.
"Then, what are waiting for! Let's go!" Alice raised her hand excitedly pulling Haru's hand to the car.
"You don't need to be that excited," Haru said.
"....."
Kurokiba who was being ignored only shook his head and entered the six wheels Mercedes-AMG G63 which was brought by Haru.

Erina told the driver to hurriedly go to Alice's mansion and couldn't help but feel annoyed by her cousin. She could imagine that Alice had forgotten about this matter and didn't even tell her about it. She somehow needed to slap Alice's butt, but then, she received a call from her grandfather. She was quite surprised and opened it.
"Grandpa, what's wrong?"
"Erina, are you in your office?"
"Yes," Erina said since she couldn't tell her grandfather that she was right on the outside.
"Then come to my office since I have something to talk about with you," Senzaemon said and didn't talk too much.
Closed the phone, Erina was quite surprised, but also curious since her grandpa was looking for her. She looked at her manga and decided to keep it at her home first before she went to her grandfather's office.
Erina wanted to go to Haru right away, but it couldn't be helped if her grandfather had called her. The only thing she needed to do was to complete this matter as soon as possible.

Erina drove to her grandfather's office, knocked on the door, and walked in. She saw her grandfather, the director of the Tootsuki group, Nakiri Senzamon who was sitting on his office chair with his back facing her.
"Erina, you should remember that in our Tootsuki Academy, it has always been a tradition for Elite 10 to manage the academy, but before that, they need to do a test before they can officially become Elite 10."
Without waiting for Erina to say something, Senzaemon said directly.

Senzaemon caressed his beard and smiled when he thought Erina would live with him later.

What a dumb way to die…
Those right there, ladies and gentlemen, were my final thoughts before my soul got sucked out of my body.
I was just on my way to work, and I, Kurosawa Akane got hit by a bus. A godamn bus…
I never thought I'd die this way. Honestly, they always taught in school to look right and left at least fifty times before crossing the road. I cannot even believe that I ignored those teachings. Was I really THAT depressed?
And here I am (as a ghost??? Phantom? Spirit? I don't even know) staring at MY FREAKING DEAD BODY. Let me tell you, it is NOT nice seeing your mangled up, bloody body in the middle of the road, with people gawking at it like it's some sort of attraction!
I look at my hands, and they seem to be fading away. I know that I'm dying and I feel quite sad. 
'Will my mother miss me?' I wonder.
'Will Kira miss me?'
'Will they remember me?'
Ah well I was a burden to my mother anyway, she'll finally be free now. My vision gets darker, and darker until finally the small slither of light vanishes, along with the pain.

My throat is dry and uncomfortable, I want some water. I notice my surroundings, and the room I'm in has lots of arts and furniture. They look so… ancient and like they belong in a museum, but I don't think too into it.

'If this is the afterlife, it's not so bad'
Thats when I notice a very pretty middle aged woman, sitting on a chair next to my bed. She wears one of those dresses I see in Asian dramas. She reminds me of my dear sweet mother. If this woman is with me in the afterlife, than dying might not be so terrible.
She is currently sleeping, so I'm not going to disturb her.
I stretch out my body, but the bed creaks. The lady stirs in her sleep. She wakes up and I see her eyes, they look so sad. She looks like someone I know, but I can't quite put my finger on it.
She looks at me finally and…
"AAAAAAAAH!!!" she screams.
Startled by her screaming I also scream.
"AAAAAAAAAH!!!"
She frantically calls out to someone outside the room.
"Physician! Physician! Lai'er woke up!" she shouted.
Wait. 
What language is she speaking? Why can I understand it? Is she speaking CHINESE? Who on earth is Lai'er? Is there someone named Lai'er in this room? 
I am so confused, but I see the lady running back into the room with a man behind her. The man calmly holds out his hands gesturing for me to hold his.
The afterlife should not be like this. I am so confused and suspicious. I spot a beautifully ornate oriental mirror in the corner of the room and run towards it. I can't focus on anything right now. 
I stand in front of the mirror only to find the unfamiliar face of a young girl staring back at me. I am amazed at how beautiful she is really. She is wearing white clothes and it makes her looks so cute.
Wait a second... aren't I looking at a mirror? 
NANIII?!!!
I stare blankly at the mirror and fall to my knees. The girl in the mirror does the same. I don't even know what to think. Why do I look like this? Isn't this supposed to be the afterlife?
"-Lai'er? Lai'er!"
I realise that the nice looking lady is shaking me. This is too much.
The last thing I see before passing out, is the man and the nice lady grabbing me to prevent my head from hitting the floor.

It is dark and memories from my life flash in my mind. I remember a specific light novel I once read. 

*Flash back*
Two girls were walking towards a bookstore. One of them is excited and runs into the store, pulling the other girl along. They browse the store and occasionally pore over BL light novels or Yaoi manga. Finally they find what they are looking for.
"Akane! I found it!" said the girl excitedly, holding up a copy of a light novel named 'Princess of Rui'.
"Calm down, Kira" said Akane, "We have plenty of time to read it. Come on let's go pay for it"
*End Flashback*

When I was in my first year of high school, me and my best friend Kira used to love Chinese fantasy light novels. We were obsessed one particular one called 'Princess of Rui'.
It was about to this noble but ordinary girl named Wu Roqing who manages to attract the attention of every major character in the novel. She ends up with the crown prince, Tian Mo and becomes Empress. But her happiness doesn't come easily, as she gets attacked at all sides by the novel's villainess, Song Laing. 
The villainess saw the Crown Prince one day and fell head over heels in love with him. The prince rejects her advances, but Laing being the annoying villainess she is, decides to torture anyone he sets his eyes on. Long story short, the villainess ends up losing her head, and her entire family is banished.
And now, I'm the villainess.

When I come to, I see that a whole bunch of people are surrounding the bed that I'm laying on. I try to remain calm, but I am FREAKING OUT. 
I'm Kurosawa Akane, but now I'm Song Laing. I freeze up and look around at the people around me. They look worried, and I recognise them from the memories of my previous life. That beautiful woman that was with me when I first woke up should be Laing's mother. There is also Physician Zu. Her father and brothers aren't here because they despised her for her behaviour.
I read about them in the book but it is weird to see them up close. 
"Lai'er… how are you feeling?" asked Laing's mother (or should I say *my* mother?)
I opened my mouth to reply, not sure if I can properly speak Chinese. But…
'I'm fine now mother, please don't worry'
When I opened my mouth, I saw that I can suddenly speak fluent Chinese. As a Japanese person in my previous life, I was surprised and it must have shown on my face because my new mother started to worry. After checking on me, and making sure I was okay, they left me to rest. Laing was always bossing around her family, so they were sort of hated her.
Now that they are gone, my real freak out was beginning. 
How in the world did I end up here? I got up and stood in front of the mirror and...
'Waaah…'
So I am super attractive… like really hot.
'Waaah…I am so beautiful…' I muttered to myself. I honestly couldn't stop looking at my new self. But then again, everyone in this world is basically more attractive than the K-pop idols in my previous life. 
'…What a good figure… and at this age too'
As I died young in my previous life, I didn't get to enjoy everything. Also before I died, I wasn't very pretty, so I didn't really care about my looks.

It might seem like an ordinary date and it is an ordinary date for most of the people out there (except those who have their birthdays or any special occasion) but for a guy who was sitting while browsing through Google, it definitely was not. On this particular day, he had finally caught up with the manhua/manga releases of "Tales of Demons and Gods[TDG] " by Mad Snail. He really liked the manga, but he wanted more. So, he searched on Google about similar stories and he found "Otherworldly Evil Monarch [OEM] ". He got curious because the name sounded badass and it seemed like it was not going to be a story where the protagonist keeps on spouting sh¡t about righteousness and slaying evil and protecting the weak and stuff as it had the word "EVIL" in it. He thought that its dumb and he had the adequate reasons to think like that. After all, who in their right mind would risk his life to save a girl who he does not even know properly . It is not even realistic and how in the world can the protagonist be so selfless and so dense when it came to matters of love. It is as if he was hit by a rock in his infancy and his brain was permanently damaged.
After he was done cursing the cliché Manga, he started searching for the manga of OEM. A while later did he came to the realization that OEM does not have a manga. It is actually a novel which is posted online and the chapters are released frequently, and these novels are known as "Webnovels". He also got to know that TDG was originally also a webnovel but since it got really popular, it was transformed into a manga and the animation of TDG was along the way as well.
The name of this guy is Weed.

(as we all know that I, the author has the power to pause this novel world by snapping my fingers, and I will break the 4th wall and this was mentioned in the previous chapter and this is the last time it would be mentioned.
Moving on, as well all know that Japanese are considered as really polite, humble, caring about others etc. people (E/N: Except you) and it is true. Until this guy made an appearance. This character, Weed was meant to be born in U.S.A. or any other western country but God made some mistake and he ended up being born in Japan.
If you are wondering about why his name is Weed, and not some other Japanese names like Hijikata, Kemamaki, etc (E/N: I've never even heard of these names in anime or manga), then I should suggest you to stop being a racist because it is not necessary for a guy to have a Japanese name if he is born in Japan. Actually he was given a good name which was a Japanese name but when he became an adult, he changed it to the thing he liked the most, and that is weed. Although he has never smoked weed but that is an entirely different topic. This guy can not be considered polite. Screw being polite, he constantly curses as if they are verbs and without his "verbs", he cannot complete his sentences. He is a degenerate scum of society and also has this constant urge of pissing everyone off as if the whole world is his enemy. He does not care about anyone but himself, and he does not give a damn about anyone's feelings. He thinks that facts do not care about feelings and prefers facts and logic over anything. He considers himself as an anti-social extrovert. He is 19 year old NEET and wastes his time looking at memes, watching anime and reading manga. He is a racist (E/N: rapist *cough cough*) to the core and will do anything to get on the nerves of others. We will get other information about him later on as the story progresses. He is also not the protagonist of this novel as I have said previously that communism is Supreme in such cases and so, everyone is a protagonist here.
Weed never had a problem in reading a story because he is into Manga a lot so he decided to give OEM a try. He searched for the places where he could read OEM and this was that moment where he got to know about the top dog in webnovel society. The corporate known and "QIDIAN". With some excitement and slight anticipation, (which is very rare by the way) he downloaded the application of Qidian and jumped straight away into the reading OEM. He kept reading and was so hooked that he eventually lost the track of time. After almost 5 hours of continuous reading, he finally closed the app because his stomach was not much happy and showed its discontent by a making a slight yet audible noise(he is hungry for fuck's sake). He got up and went outside his room to make some cup noodles for himself.
After pleasing his beloved belly, he started the app again, but instead of reading the novel, he decided to check other features of the app. He saw various novels of different genres, some novels even caught his attention and he added them into his reading list. He eventually stumbled upon the forum section and clicked on it. There he saw that a group of qidian was made on Facebook and anyone was welcome to submit their application to join it. 
Since Weed already had his Facebook account, he decided to fill the application to join the Facebook group since he did not had anything else to do. Along with the fact that he might get some good novel recommendations in that group. After that he continued reading OEM. After 13 days, his application was accepted and he was a member of the Facebook group of qidian.

At past seven in the evening, Meng Fan left Kodansha with the first draft of a contract in his backpack. The contract naturally consisted of the collaboration contract Meng Fan had requested with Kodansha. 
Of course, the collective contract wasn't completely catered to Meng Fan's requests, as he had to back down on some of his requests just like Kodansha did with theirs. These requests had been used by Meng Fan originally with the intention of leaving room to bargain as well, so he was satisfied in the end as long as they passed his bottom line. 
Of course, Kodansha had some requirements of their own as well, but it was all within the limits of the contract, so Meng Fan happily accepted them. 
This included some very unfair clauses, like Kodansha having the power to terminate the manga and its serialization at any time.
In addition, aside from the animation copyrights going to Kodansha, all copyrights for "The Legend of the Mountains and Seas" within the region of Japan also belonged to Kodansha. 
If "The Legend of the Mountains and Seas" were to film a Japanese movie or TV series, Kodansha would be in charge. 
Meng Fan wanted the manga to be serialized in Japan. Aside from wholeheartedly wanting to penetrate the Japanese manga market with a Chinese manga — this was like how actors yearned for Hollywood, basketball players for the NBA, ping pong players gunning to get into Huaxia, and soccer players for the European Cup — but he also wanted to create a stepping stone by signing a contract. 
For a manga to become popular, it required a serialization platform. Regardless if it was a manga publishing house or an online platform, it had to continue producing volumes. Otherwise, nobody would know of it, and it will not gain popularity. 
Most of the mangas in Japan all went through these three publishing houses for serialization, publications, and art book publications. If Meng Fan wanted his manga to penetrate the Japanese industry, he couldn't avoid these three firms. 
Even if this contract was not successful, Meng Fan could still await his manga to gain popularity in the mainland before selling it independently in Japan. But he still had to go through one of these publishing houses. 
This was different in Huaxia, where he could randomly find any platform and serialize his manga, publish it at a private publishing house, and gain popularity by selling copies by himself.

This time, they had reached an agreement and drafted up a contract, but it hadn't been stamped yet. One, Meng Fan needed time to find a professional to look through the draft, and two, he wanted to visit Penguin Animations for some final negotiations. 
Regardless if Penguin Animation agreed or not, Goro Takahashi will still fly out to Huaxia afterward to find Meng Fan and sign the contract. 
If Penguin Animation Networks agreed to negotiate, and it went well, then they would have requests of their own too, which would require more negotiation and discussion. Ideally, all three parties would come out of this as winners if the situation allowed. 
Meng Fan politely rejected Goro Takahashi's dinner invitation with several other colleagues, saying he already had plans. He had plans indeed. His second sister, Meng Cailian, had scheduled a Michelin-grade dinner for him, and Meng Caiwei, his third sister, had been excited to join them and also invited her friend Shiyua.
But Meng Fan didn't reject Goro Takahashi's offer to drop him off. After he said his goodbyes, Meng Fan gave the driver an address and gave Yixin a call.

Not only did they manage to list "Legend of the Mountains and Seas," which didn't even have a description yet, into the best-selling list, it also created the highest sales record since Penguin Animation's creation. 
The entire industry was boiling, much more so the web platform. 
"Legend of the Mountains and Seas" could be said to have blown up before it was even aired. Nobody even knew what the content would be, yet its popularity could rival some very popular manga artists' lifetime of work. 
The directing board from Penguin Animation Network had constantly been asking Yixin for updates on the situation, which made Yixin want to cry. What the hell do I know, I want to know too! 
After seeing his phone ring with a call from Meng Fan, Yixin immediately picked up the receiver and listened to the voice coming from the other end. Immediately, his expression changed. Then, his scream of excitement could be heard throughout the entire office. 
"What? You signed with Kodansha?" 
"And it's a collaborative contract, too?" 
"You're really in Japan!" 
"And you somehow managed to give the copyrights for 'Legend of the Mountains and Seas' in Japan to Kodansha?" 
"While you still have the other copyrights?" 
"You want to sign it with Penguin Animation Network?" 
"So, it's a Sino-Japanese collaborative effort to update?" 
"Ha, ha! How did the negotiations go? You promise this is true!" 
"Holy cow, how did you do it!" 
"Sh*t, I'll go right away!" 
"Meng boss, please, please keep your phone line clear!" 
After hanging up, Yixin hurriedly burst toward the editor-in-chief's office, leaving the rest of the employees on this floor confused and stunned. 
What was going on? 
If they weren't mistaken, it sounds like "Legend of the Mountains and Seas" managed to obtain a serialization opportunity at Kodansha, and it was a collaborative contract, too! And Meng Fan still had most of the copyright to his name and was planning to sign with Penguin Animation Networks right now! 
What was Kodansha? What was a collaborative contract? What was a copyright? The editors knew all too well and knew what this would mean. 
However, they couldn't figure out how Meng Fan managed to pull this off! 
This kind of operation was a hundred times more shameless than giving yourself 100,000 Penguin coins! 
Meng Fan hung up the phone and chuckled. This Yixin senior was not a calm one. 
To be fair, though, neither was Meng Fan. 
Regardless, Meng Fan was very excited to have the opportunity to debut his manga on a national platform alongside the Japanese market. 
He tossed his phone back and forth between his hands before suddenly remembering to message Wu Tong. Wu Tong knew of Meng Fan's purpose in Japan, so he had to let her know the good news. 
"So, you ran out by yourself, didn't you?" Wu Tong responded very quickly.

Meng Fan knocked on his brain. He'd forgotten about this.
Wu Tong quickly followed up. "(Smiley) Although I'm a little upset, still, congratulations. Come back soon. Before you come to me, go hang out with my Seventh Bro." 
"Yes, ma'am!" 
They chatted a few more before the car pulled into Ginza through the Chuo district and into the Tsukamoto Main building. Meng Fan departed the car and entered the basement floor. As he walked, the small narrow sushi shop appeared in his view at the end of the hallway. This was a famous sushi restaurant called "Sukiyabashi Jiro." It was the restaurant that Meng Fan's sisters had spent so much effort trying to reserve, and the place Meng Fan and Satomi Ishihara would be having their meal. 
At the door, Meng Fan paused and truthfully told Wu Tong. "Uhm, I planned this trip to Singapore and Japan a long time ago. My sister wants me to bring something for Satomi Ishihara, so we're going to grab dinner along the way. I'm outside the restaurant right now." 
He was honest but not dumb. He had to find an excuse… As for the blame, he could only put it on Meng Caiwei. 
"Oh, Satomi Ishihara? Go ahead. I'm not at the point of being jealous of someone thousands of kilometers away." 
Meng Fan saw this and immediately responded: "I promise, once I'm done, I'll immediately go to Seventh Bro!"

As Meng Fan was brought to his seat, he was looking for Satomi Ishihara to arrive. However, a chef in uniform appeared in front of Meng Fan, taking him by surprise. 
"M-san!" 


To reward Meng Fan for his bravery before his heroic death, the cosmos rewarded him with a 'system', sending him back in time to three months ago, alive.

The screen opens with Kae in class, when Clay puts her hand on the desk, and says "Guess, Kae?"

"What?" asked Kae, confused.

"I found a special hangout that has a bunch of high school students that are like us, enjoying BL anime and anime in general," said Clay, with enthusiasm.

"Really?!" exclaimed Kae, with a big smile.

"Yes, and it's not that far," said Clay.

"I got to tell Nanako and Shima this, so we can go together," Kae decided, then runs with excitement.

Clay smiles.

"What are you up to?" asked Nozomi, suspicious.

"Just showing Kae a very special place," answered Clay, with a smirk.

"What kind of place?" asked Nozomi.

"I'll tell you afterwards unless you bump into Shima first, bye Nozomi," Clay says, as he taps Nozomi's shoulder, then walks out the door.

'What does that mean?' thought Nozomi.

The screen shows Clay pasting Kazume.

"You should stop messing with them," suggested Kazume.

"They should stop making it so easy," said Clay.

"Do you really intend to take her?" asked Kazume.

"You challenged the relationship between her and those boys and that rich girl, didn't you?" Clay asks Kazume.

"I did, to test my brother," Kazume tells Clay.

"Hmmm… what a cruel thing to do, but I didn't choose to be friends with me, to become a rival to the others," Clay made clear.

"And you don't want me to tell them, so you can mess with them more," Kazume assumed.

"I will reveal it to them after I show Kae something special, " Clay revealed.

"Send me a picture of their faces," Kazume requested, then walks away.

"Of course," said Clay, with his face covered and has an evil smile.

The screen shows Kae, Shima, and Clay in front of a bookstore.

"A bookstore?" asked Shima, shocked.

"Things aren't always as they look," Clay tells Shima and Kae.

Clay walks up to the door, knocking on it three times.

The door opens half way, where a hand comes, and says "Identification".

Clay reaches into her hair, unhooked a ring/barrette, and gives it to the hand.

"Clay, it's a pleasure to see you again," said the person.

"You too, I have some guests," Clay says,

A blond girl who has long hair into two ponytails, wearing a pink dress, and white heels , and says "I'm Summer".

Another girl comes with two other girls all over them have colorful outfits.

The next girl has a rainbow dress and heels to match, and says "I'm Autumn".

The fourth girl has a yellow dress and yellow heels, and says "Raine".

The five and last girl who has purple dress and says "I'm Didi, welcome".

"Hello," said Shima and Kae.

Raine leads us all to a girl; who has long white hair with strands sticking out, wearing a blue wolf ears, a white/blue dress, a wolf tail, and shows fangs as she smile.

"Maka! We have new recruits," called Didi, behind Raine.

The girl looks at Kae and Shima, and says "Clay. Friends of yours?"

Clay smiles happily, and says "Guilty as charged".

"Well, which genre?" asked a boy who has short red/black hair, wearing a yellow suit with diamonds, and shoes.

"BL anime and manga," Clay says with a dark smile.

Maka, two girls, and three boys glare at Kae and Shima.

Cloud 9 has rainbow hair, wearing bunny ears, short orange dress, and heels.

Jack has long dark blue hair, wearing a black jacket, white shirt, black pants, and black diamond shoes.

Edward has short curly brown hair, wearing a fedora, brown necklace made of shells, brown shirt, white pants, and black shoes.

Larry has long/short blond hair, wearing a suit with of hearts and spades, and shoes.

Parker has purple lines under his eyes, white hair into four ponytails, wearing a prince outfit and a crown.

Mai has purple eyeshadows, light/dark brown hair, wearing a mushroom hat, gray shirt, white fluffy pants, and shoes.

"We are the BL club, please to meet you," greeted everybody in costume, with a warm smile.

"You too, i'm Kae," replied Kae.

"And i'm Shima," said Shima.

Mai shows a bunch of manga, which caught Kae's attention, and says "IS THAT THE NEW MANGA: JUTO: PLUTO'S LOVE!"

Miai smiles, seeing Kae deep into the book, and says "A true fan, it came out with five chapters and so far, it's gained a following among the fujoshis that love a good mystery story, and frankly it caught my eye".

"How many chapters have you read?" asked Kae.

"Three, so far I haven't had time to finish with my job," said Mai, after she flipped her hair.

"Our job", Parker corrected Mia.

"Right, our job, we work at a yaoi manga as editors,'' said Mai.

"So, you help with manga like this,'' Kae acknowledged with her eyes getting bigger.

"Yup, and most of these books we get with our discount, and it saved a lot of money," Mai bragged.

"Yep, but it sure drains a person," Larry agreed with Mai.

"Says the boy reading four manga at the same time," replied Mai.

"I need to catch up, before our next job," said Larry.

"That's next week," said Cloud 9, looking at one manga after another, which gets Shima's attention.

"Are you reading all of those?" asked Shima.

Everybody in the club laughs.

"No, I'm analyzing the characters, plot, and relationship; to see what's good or bad about it," said Cloud 9.

"In ten seconds?" questioned Shima, surprised.

"Eight seconds, technically," Cloud 9 says proudly.

"Cloud 9 has won title for 'fastest reader', three years running, I forced her to do it," Edward says in a quiet tone, next to Shima's ear.

"No way! So, are all of you really editors?" asked Kae.

"Yup, all of us working in the same office, absolutely lucky. Don't you think?" smiled Cloud 9.

"If you have jobs, you must be college students except the girls we met at the door," Kae assumed.

"Actually, they are the same age as us and in the same grade," said Clay, behind Kae.

Kae jumped because Clay surprised her.

"Sorry, Kae, I sometimes sneak up on people without knowing," said Clay, seeing Kae scared look on her face.

"Clay, you two live together, right?" asked Mai.

"Yup," Clay agreed with Mai's statement.

Mai turns to Kae, and says "Sorry in advance".

"What's that's supposed to mean?" asked Clay, angry.

"Wel, you can be a lady killer," Mai stated.

"Am I not?" Clay complained to Mai.

"Oh! What about middle school?" asked A goth girl reading a book.

"Lucy, I told you the girl kept insisting that I was gay, so I played a little trick, it's her own fault for getting her first kiss stolen," Clay admitted.

"I knew you were no good," said Shima

Shima takes Kae's hand, and says "Let's go".

"Wait, should we hear the whole story?" suggested Nanako.

"Nanako! What are you doing here? I thought you were busy," asked Kae.

"I got some free time, plus when I heard this story outside of the door, I just had to see what's happening," said Nanako.

"Well, Clay explain," Edward insisted.

"Fine, but you didn't travel alone, did you?" Clay suspected.

Nanako shows Asuma, Hayato, Nozomi, and Yusuke, who were behind the door.

Clay looks down at them with a sinister smile, and says "Hello, boys".
 
The boys gets up.

"Clay, what are you up to?" asked Hayato.

Clay sits down, holds a cup of tea, and sips; then says "My. My. My such scary faces, seems my test worked".

"Test?" asked the boys and Shima, worried.

Clay puts the cup down, gets up, and says "Sorry, Kae to cause you distress, I just love making fun of people that have a crush on one person".

"You mean?" guessed Asuma, calmly.

"I have no intention of taking Kae away from you, my heart belongs to somebody," replied Clay, with a smile.

"You mean, we believed you as a new enemy was just a joke to you," asked Nozomi, running with his fist, trying to hit Clay, but miss.

Clay stops Nozomi's first his hand, and says "Please".

Clay knocks Nozomi to the floor, holding his hands against his back.

"I'm into karate, but I hate fighting," said Clay, holding Nozomi's both hands with one hand.

"Great, can you let me go?" asked Nozomi.

"Apologize first," Clay suggested.

Kae gets by Clay, and says "Clay, please let him go".

Clay smiles, and says "Okay, anything for you, Kae".

Clay let's Nozomi gets up.

"Excuse me, Clay. If you don't want to date Kae, why are you so close and clinging to her?" wondered Asuma.

"Because she has favorite manga and likes the anime and ships the boys I do, she's a great person. What other reason do I need," explained Clay.

The boys shrugged their shoulders.

"Glad, we got that situated. Edward, the camera, please," said Clay.

"What's the camera for?" asked Hayato.

"For Asuma's brother," answered Clay.

"My brother?" asked Asuma.

"He knew of my plans, and wanted for me to take pictures of your shocked faces, when I revealed my true intentions," said Clay.

"What a devil," said Asuma.

"Asuma?" asked Kae, surprised.

"I'm fine," said Asuma.

"With everything situated, all clubs we have more new recruits, and their cute guys, their all yours," said Clay.

This surprises the boys, Clay takes Shima, Nanako, and Kae out the door with the BL Club.

"We should probably go back for them," Kae insisted.

"They'll be fine, all those people are my friends and their not harmful," said Clay.

"Clay, so you aren't pretending to be my friends?" asked Kae.

"Of course not, I love you, you're the best," said Clay, hugging Kae.

"Thanks Clay, but maybe you could try to not mess with the boys," Kae asks Clay.

"Okay, but did you give either of the boys or Shima answer to their confessions?" Clay figured out.

Shima blushed.

"How did you?" wondered Kae.

"Please, Kae, I wouldn't mess around with boys unless they all fighting over who will be with the girl, and it seems I guessed right," replied Clay.

"I just couldn't give them an answer, I just like them as friends," said Kae.

"All of them?" asked Clay, looking serious.

Kae was surprised by this, and asks "Huh?"

"I mean, I can understand it's hard to choose between friends, but do you really mean that you don't feel a certain way with one of those boys or Shima," Clay gives Kae a serious question.

"Whoa!" gasped Nanako.

"What about your special someone? How did you know?" Shima asked, coldly.

"I didn't he did, and I love him for that, anybody wants some tea," said Clay, with his hair blowing, while looking at the sun.

"He?" asked Kae.

"Yup, my lover is a he, surprise," said Clay, then runs away.

"Wait! Come back," Nanako runs after Clay.

"I… want to know too," Kae followed.

"Fine," said Shima, and runs after them.

We had lunch at one of the City's famous and very expensive buffet restaurants. The resto lived-up to its reputation. The food was delicious. Justine and I found out that we both loved Japanese foods. We stayed mostly in the Japanese section. I eyed the rest of the gang trying out a variety of dishes.  But the variety was just too many! The girls finished their lunch first. The boys said that they had just finished snacking and would proceed to lunch! We let out a groan. We wanted to visit the shops already.

The bodyguards introduced themselves by their call signs - B1 and B2. They got our numbers and we got theirs. With this protocol done, we went malling. The bodyguards kept a respectable distance. We didn't feel stifled in our stroll. We browsed shops after shops. Justine was surprised to find some of his favorite New York brands. He was impressed with the mall. Each of us  bought a pair of clothes. We bought Grandpa a pair of socks (because we didn't really know what to give him). We bought Auntie Anita a beautiful shawl for the cold season. I knew she'd scold us for buying her a gift but I also knew she'd show-off the shawl to everyone. For my father, we bought his favorite beer snack. 

I brought Justine to my most favorite spot in the mall - the bookstore. I could spend hours and hours in this store. It was another one of my dreams - to have a floor to ceiling shelves filled with books. I got to live this dream in this cozy bookstore. It was exactly what I had in mind. We browsed through shelves of books. As we went to shelves after shelves,  I'd close my eyes from time to time. 

"What are you doing?" Justine said, amused.

"Do you know how I choose what book to buy?" I asked back.

"How?" 

"I let the book choose me." I answered.

"You're really weird sometimes, baby" Justine said, chuckling.

"I know, That's why you love me." I said, laughing back.

Justine wrapped his arm on my shoulder. It was true, though. I let the books choose me. This system had never failed me. I discovered and bought books through this method. We sat in the bookstore coffee shop and read some of our purchases while sipping milk tea. Justine bought a comic book by a local author and was laughing while reading it.

"This is so funny!" He said.

I said something but it was drowned out by a frightening sound. The floor suddenly shook. It shook so bad I was waiting for it to explode. Someone shouted, "Earthquake!"

Justine grabbed me and we ducked under the table. The table wasn't sturdy enough. It toppled with our movement. Justine covered me with his body when the glass wall near us shattered. We heard people shouting. Some sounded hurt, but most sounded pure panic and fear. Two people hurled themselves to us protectively. I realized they were the bodyguards. The shaking went on that felt like forever. 

When the shaking subsided, we immediately got up to go outside the mall. Justine asked me if I were okay as we walked with urgency. 

"Alexis!" he said to the bodyguards. They understood immediately and began speaking on their two way radios. 

We rushed outside the mall. We barely made it out when another shaking occurred. Justine and I were swept by the surge of panicked people who just wanted to get out. Glass windows were breaking, debris was raining, thick dust suffocated us. With the bodyguards shielding us, we managed to get out and reached a safe clearing in the park just across the mall.  People were strewn all over it. Some were crying. Some were hugging. Some were frantically punching their cell phones. The alarm systems of the parked cars were triggered. The sound of simultaneous alarm competed with the shouts of people rushing out of the mall and the buildings nearby. It was mayhem!

"Com'on, com'on, com'on!!!" Justine was murmuring to himself while dialing. The network signal was not available. The bodyguards couldn't also contact their colleagues. I was on the verge of crying. 'Where are our friends???'

"What?!?!" B1 shouted when he finally contacted someone. He glanced at Justine, worried. He approached us and told Justine that the bodyguards lost Alexis. 

"What do you mean they lost him?" asked Justine, almost shouting. I held his hand and squeezed it, hopefully to comfort him. B1 reported that his colleagues lost him even before the earthquake happened. They were looking for him when the earthquake struck. 

I could feel panic and despair rose up in Justine. He was muttering to himself. I coaxed him to sit on the ground but he wouldn't budge. I told him Alexis would be alright. He just stood with a blank stare, frozen. 'Please, please, please. Lord, please, make my friends safe.' I silently prayed. 

Then the earth shook again.

“What about you? Do you like someone?” he mimicked my question.

“Hey, I asked first!” I protested. 

“You first,” he said.

No, you go first!” I countered. 

“Ladies first,” he continued. 

I pinched his arm and gave him a sharp look. He held up his hand  and moved to face me. We laughed. 

“You,” he said. 

“No, you go first!’ I said almost shouting. 

“You,” he repeated. “Nina, I like you.”
