Hi, my name is Caitlyn Rivers. My life is just like any other student — school, study, rest and repeat. If there was one thing I would say was different from others, it would be that I am obsessed with reading. So much so that I have my own library; A total of 36 books. All my most favourite romance titles. 

Okay, maybe calling 36 books a library was exaggerating it a bit, but in my heart, it is the most awesome library. It even comes with my very own movie theater... Of 10 movies. But I bought them all with my own allowance! I am absolutely proud of my collection... But only at home. It's not that I don't want to show it off to others, but when you get too immersed talking about your hobby? Sometimes, mean people talk, and words do in fact hurt. 

Even so, I love reading them. I love watching them too! Novels, movies, even Japanese shoujo manga. I love immersing my thoughts into their worlds, dreaming about being the heroine of the story, finding my own love. 

One thing I never understood from them, was why the second leads are always just... Second. They are clearly just as handsome as the main lead, they are definitely much more approachable than the main leads, and some of them are even more perfect! If I were the heroines, I would definitely pick them.

At least, I wished real life worked as easily as the heroines in these stories. Too bad I'm much too introverted, much too shy to even be able to approach boys like that. But I've decided that this year, will be the year that I will try to make some friends of my own for once and maybe even find my own love in the process. Hopefully, with a new and improved mindset, I can finish high school with a bang!

This apartment building that I just praised earlier for its good engineering houses three apartment rooms in each of its two floors. The main stairway that we just climbed is located on the right side of the building while there is an emergency route on the other side. On the second floor, Yuuga's room was the farthest from the main stairway.
I noticed that the apartment building is actually bigger than the normal ones. It however became an understatement on my part.
"Please excuse our intrusion."
I have to guess that each and every room is the same size as Yuuga's. It is not a typical one room, and toilet situation. But rather, it has two rooms and a bathroom. On the main room is where the kitchen, the living and dining spaces are found. But that is generally how it looks to be.
Sure, there is a kitchen and a dining table with three seats as the other side of the table is by the wall. The living space is a little different, though. He only has a coffee table over a carpet and one sofa, and I will surely notice that we have the same model of TV. Still ordinary.
There is a bookshelf of three layers that are filled with books beside the television and fitted almost snug to the corner. Opposite to the bookshelf though is a desk with a lightbox for sketching and his tablet monitor.
Without saying anything, we chose where to sit on the living room while waiting for him who is by the kitchen counter. As I am someone who doesn't usually sit on the couch but still have some on my own house, I asked Yuuga.

"You sure you two didn't run on the downpour?"
"We took shelter in advance. I won't get a cold just from that anyway," I said.

"Yeah. Weight variation will be lost if you only use a fineliner. But I guess brush pen will work too."
"Eh. I'll just stick with the dip pen. I'm not really good with brush control."
"Sorry. If I did that chapter digitally it would be more convenient."
"Nah. It's fine. We'll start then."

Out of the blue, my phone rang. I stood up and stood by the kitchen to not interfere with the work of the two.

"Uh, yeah. I can also."

Good morning, good afternoon, good evening. I hope all is well, dear readers. 

I wanted to take the time to sincerely thank every single one of you for supporting the novel up to this point. It has truly been an honor writing on this platform. Throughout my bitter life, never did I imagine I'd start writing and have people supporting me in the process. I cannot help but say I'm in debt for your undivided support. :')

As for the novel status, we are now past the half mark of Volume 1. Some may be curious as to how long I plan on making the series. I'd say 10 volumes minimum, each being at least 50,000 words (about 50 chapters on Webnovel).

Many may find this unexpected, but my goals for this story is beyond the ordinary. I plan to enter this work into Japan, which will lead to an eventual Manga + Anime adaptation. How do I plan on doing that exactly? Have no worry, I've done my research. Lots of research.

To simplify matters, the plan is to grow on English platforms such as Webnovel, Royal Road, Tapas, Moonquill and even Reddit if I'm lucky. If I attain a certain level of popularity and approval, that will be my beacon to hire a translator to get the book(s) into Japanese and enter them into one of their major web novel competitions online. Winners do get promoted in their magazine and at one point, will be elevated to get adaptations. Lots of anime (some poorly written ones as well) are attaining recognition from these competitions and are getting adaptations, especially in the past few years.

I have no doubt that this work can reach that level someday. Sure, I'm bound to fail, that goes without saying. That won't alter my goal in the slightest. I'm willing to do any and everything possible to make this happen. Even if it takes my entire life. Even if I don't earn a dime. Even if I must sacrifice the time with my friends and family. After everyone had their own fill of the food, Shen Tianyu proposed to bring the leftovers back for the ones that were left behind. As they walked back on the quickly brightening streets, they greeted people on the streets, farmers, scholars and store owners alike.
"Sung Ming. I want to rest tonight. Can I start work tomorrow?" Shen Tianyu asked in a low voice to the Manager walking beside her.
"Alright." He agreed.
When they arrived back at Lavender Palace, Sung Ming informed everyone of Shen Tianyu's "adjustment night". Everyone nodded understandingly. 'Of course. Despite her demeanor, she is still a poor little girl. She just got sold by her father. Naturally, she is upset,' some of them thought. 'What is our Miss up to?' was the thought of others.
Without regard to the misunderstandings surfacing in certain people's minds, Shen Tianyu bid goodnight and returned to her room. As she closed her door, she walked over and sat cross-legged on her bed. Then, her body became completely still, even her breathing was even and shallow, as if she was sleeping.
Shen Tianyu opened her eyes and saw a black. Endless darkness surrounded her as she got up from her initial lotus position. Though to anyone else, this endless darkness would have been suffocating and unsettling, she didn't feel so in the slightest. And rightfully so, this space was hers. She walked straight ahead, following a small road of blue light only she could see. She then stopped on the road. Though the light continued on, she knew she couldn't go past it. She tried before, it was as if there was a barrier, preventing her from going forward. In her previous life, she was only able to access the initial part of the space, where she appeared when she came in and actually wasn't able to see the road nor go forward. So, she just treated it as a pocket, since she liked pockets, but women's clothes rarely had pockets so she used it as a large, dimensional pocket. She also found out, through experimenting in her previous life, that these special restrictions in the space were only for her. Certain people she sent into the space merely wondered about endlessly, never bumping into any obstructions or anything, as if they were in an illusion of endless darkness. Of course, she let them go when she was done experimenting and just told them it was a nightmare, not that she needed to explain to them, they weren't exactly good people.
When she was first reincarnated into this world as an infant, she had been able to see the light road, but had not been able to pass it. After practicing cultivation at Yaodu for a while and breaking through to Qi Condensation First Stage, did the barrier retreat.
She reached out her left hand, as if trying to touch something in the darkness, and stopped when her arm was fully extended. She stared at her left, where her hand was stretching, still visible in the seemingly all-consuming darkness, as if waiting. After a short while, or maybe a long while, there was the sound of chains breaking. Then a blinding light, originating form her left enveloped her, as she closed her eyes. When she didn't feel the intense light in front of her eyelids anymore, she opened them.
She was standing in front of a vivid red torii gate. Behind it, was a big red Japanese shrine with a slanted, tiled roof and a sign that read "Wind Shrine". The shrine itself was about as big as a palace of the Forbidden City.
She walked through the torii gate and slid open the wooden paper doors. As she stepped in, she surveyed her surroundings. In the center of the room was a wooden offertory box one usually sees at Japanese shrines. At the other end of the room was a long ancient bench couch in front of a paper screen. Around the room, the things she had "collected" in her previous life was scattered into organized piles. In the northwest corner, were the academic books she'd collected. The northeast corner contained literary documents that weren't books. In the southwest, to the left of the door, there was her manga collection. The southeast, the right of the door, was the little gimmicks and weapons she had collected. She had experimented with weapons and explosives rather extensively, claiming it was for "protection", and it certainly was now, with the failures and successes all organized there in their own stacks.
She started walking around the shrine. The shrine hadn't opened until she reached Qi Condensation Stage, which was pretty recently.
Even though, she had researched weapons, it doesn't mean she could effectively use them. When she was staying with her Master, she had focused on learning how to use her favorite ancient weapons. Good thing Yaodu had many martial experts too so she didn't need to go outside to find an expert to teach her. Though cultivation was certainly important, so is being able to master a weapon. What's the use of cultivation if you aren't strong? And being a master at a particular weapon would make her stronger. Now that she was fairly good at using them, she can focus more on her cultivation. The weapons were unavailable in the her old world so she was unable to make them. Therefore, she had Muo Jeng, her Master, order them from the best blacksmith, and these weapons were currently sitting in their own small pile to the right of the door.
Actually, Shen Tianyu had only broken through about a week ago but then she was informed that Shen Chiang was coming to pick her up at the shed she was supposed to be in and had to hurry back to hide that she had any association with Yaodu. After she came back, he dumped her in a small, seemingly abandoned corner of the Minister's Estate. The next morning, he had rudely woken her up and brought her to Lavender Palace. Therefore, she didn't have enough time to really explore the space. However, though she couldn't enter the shrine until she broke through, she had been "gifted" by it years before, when she was 9. That was when she developed Lavender Palace as a brothel and an underground information broker.

It might seem like an ordinary date and it is an ordinary date for most of the people out there (except those who have their birthdays or any special occasion) but for a guy who was sitting while browsing through Google, it definitely was not. On this particular day, he had finally caught up with the manhua/manga releases of "Tales of Demons and Gods[TDG] " by Mad Snail. He really liked the manga, but he wanted more. So, he searched on Google about similar stories and he found "Otherworldly Evil Monarch [OEM] ". He got curious because the name sounded badass and it seemed like it was not going to be a story where the protagonist keeps on spouting sh¡t about righteousness and slaying evil and protecting the weak and stuff as it had the word "EVIL" in it. He thought that its dumb and he had the adequate reasons to think like that. After all, who in their right mind would risk his life to save a girl who he does not even know properly . It is not even realistic and how in the world can the protagonist be so selfless and so dense when it came to matters of love. It is as if he was hit by a rock in his infancy and his brain was permanently damaged.
After he was done cursing the cliché Manga, he started searching for the manga of OEM. A while later did he came to the realization that OEM does not have a manga. It is actually a novel which is posted online and the chapters are released frequently, and these novels are known as "Webnovels". He also got to know that TDG was originally also a webnovel but since it got really popular, it was transformed into a manga and the animation of TDG was along the way as well.
The name of this guy is Weed.

(as we all know that I, the author has the power to pause this novel world by snapping my fingers, and I will break the 4th wall and this was mentioned in the previous chapter and this is the last time it would be mentioned.
Moving on, as well all know that Japanese are considered as really polite, humble, caring about others etc. people (E/N: Except you) and it is true. Until this guy made an appearance. This character, Weed was meant to be born in U.S.A. or any other western country but God made some mistake and he ended up being born in Japan.
If you are wondering about why his name is Weed, and not some other Japanese names like Hijikata, Kemamaki, etc (E/N: I've never even heard of these names in anime or manga), then I should suggest you to stop being a racist because it is not necessary for a guy to have a Japanese name if he is born in Japan. Actually he was given a good name which was a Japanese name but when he became an adult, he changed it to the thing he liked the most, and that is weed. Although he has never smoked weed but that is an entirely different topic. This guy can not be considered polite. Screw being polite, he constantly curses as if they are verbs and without his "verbs", he cannot complete his sentences. He is a degenerate scum of society and also has this constant urge of pissing everyone off as if the whole world is his enemy. He does not care about anyone but himself, and he does not give a damn about anyone's feelings. He thinks that facts do not care about feelings and prefers facts and logic over anything. He considers himself as an anti-social extrovert. He is 19 year old NEET and wastes his time looking at memes, watching anime and reading manga. He is a racist (E/N: rapist *cough cough*) to the core and will do anything to get on the nerves of others. We will get other information about him later on as the story progresses. He is also not the protagonist of this novel as I have said previously that communism is Supreme in such cases and so, everyone is a protagonist here.
Weed never had a problem in reading a story because he is into Manga a lot so he decided to give OEM a try. He searched for the places where he could read OEM and this was that moment where he got to know about the top dog in webnovel society. The corporate known and "QIDIAN". With some excitement and slight anticipation, (which is very rare by the way) he downloaded the application of Qidian and jumped straight away into the reading OEM. He kept reading and was so hooked that he eventually lost the track of time. After almost 5 hours of continuous reading, he finally closed the app because his stomach was not much happy and showed its discontent by a making a slight yet audible noise(he is hungry for fuck's sake). He got up and went outside his room to make some cup noodles for himself.
After pleasing his beloved belly, he started the app again, but instead of reading the novel, he decided to check other features of the app. He saw various novels of different genres, some novels even caught his attention and he added them into his reading list. He eventually stumbled upon the forum section and clicked on it. There he saw that a group of qidian was made on Facebook and anyone was welcome to submit their application to join it. 
Since Weed already had his Facebook account, he decided to fill the application to join the Facebook group since he did not had anything else to do. Along with the fact that he might get some good novel recommendations in that group. After that he continued reading OEM. After 13 days, his application was accepted and he was a member of the Facebook group of qidian.

At past seven in the evening, Meng Fan left Kodansha with the first draft of a contract in his backpack. The contract naturally consisted of the collaboration contract Meng Fan had requested with Kodansha. 
Of course, the collective contract wasn't completely catered to Meng Fan's requests, as he had to back down on some of his requests just like Kodansha did with theirs. These requests had been used by Meng Fan originally with the intention of leaving room to bargain as well, so he was satisfied in the end as long as they passed his bottom line. 
Of course, Kodansha had some requirements of their own as well, but it was all within the limits of the contract, so Meng Fan happily accepted them. 
This included some very unfair clauses, like Kodansha having the power to terminate the manga and its serialization at any time.
In addition, aside from the animation copyrights going to Kodansha, all copyrights for "The Legend of the Mountains and Seas" within the region of Japan also belonged to Kodansha. 
If "The Legend of the Mountains and Seas" were to film a Japanese movie or TV series, Kodansha would be in charge. 
Meng Fan wanted the manga to be serialized in Japan. Aside from wholeheartedly wanting to penetrate the Japanese manga market with a Chinese manga — this was like how actors yearned for Hollywood, basketball players for the NBA, ping pong players gunning to get into Huaxia, and soccer players for the European Cup — but he also wanted to create a stepping stone by signing a contract. 
For a manga to become popular, it required a serialization platform. Regardless if it was a manga publishing house or an online platform, it had to continue producing volumes. Otherwise, nobody would know of it, and it will not gain popularity. 
Most of the mangas in Japan all went through these three publishing houses for serialization, publications, and art book publications. If Meng Fan wanted his manga to penetrate the Japanese industry, he couldn't avoid these three firms. 
Even if this contract was not successful, Meng Fan could still await his manga to gain popularity in the mainland before selling it independently in Japan. But he still had to go through one of these publishing houses.

Regardless if Penguin Animation agreed or not, Goro Takahashi will still fly out to Huaxia afterward to find Meng Fan and sign the contract. 
If Penguin Animation Networks agreed to negotiate, and it went well, then they would have requests of their own too, which would require more negotiation and discussion. Ideally, all three parties would come out of this as winners if the situation allowed. 
Meng Fan politely rejected Goro Takahashi's dinner invitation with several other colleagues, saying he already had plans. He had plans indeed. "Legend of the Mountains and Seas" could be said to have blown up before it was even aired. Nobody even knew what the content would be, yet its popularity could rival some very popular manga artists' lifetime of work. 
The directing board from Penguin Animation Network had constantly been asking Yixin for updates on the situation, which made Yixin want to cry. What the hell do I know, I want to know too! 
After seeing his phone ring with a call from Meng Fan, Yixin immediately picked up the receiver and listened to the voice coming from the other end. Immediately, his expression changed. Then, his scream of excitement could be heard throughout the entire office. 
"What? You signed with Kodansha?" 
"And it's a collaborative contract, too?" 
"You're really in Japan!" 
"And you somehow managed to give the copyrights for 'Legend of the Mountains and Seas' in Japan to Kodansha?" 
"While you still have the other copyrights?" 
"You want to sign it with Penguin Animation Network?" 
"So, it's a Sino-Japanese collaborative effort to update?" 
"Ha, ha! How did the negotiations go? You promise this is true!" 
"Holy cow, how did you do it!" 
"Sh*t, I'll go right away!" 
"Meng boss, please, please keep your phone line clear!" 
After hanging up, Yixin hurriedly burst toward the editor-in-chief's office, leaving the rest of the employees on this floor confused and stunned. 
What was going on? 
If they weren't mistaken, it sounds like "Legend of the Mountains and Seas" managed to obtain a serialization opportunity at Kodansha, and it was a collaborative contract, too! And Meng Fan still had most of the copyright to his name and was planning to sign with Penguin Animation Networks right now!

Wu Tong quickly followed up. "(Smiley) Although I'm a little upset, still, congratulations. Come back soon. Before you come to me, go hang out with my Seventh Bro." 
"Yes, ma'am!" 
They chatted a few more before the car pulled into Ginza through the Chuo district and into the Tsukamoto Main building. Meng Fan departed the car and entered the basement floor. As he walked, the small narrow sushi shop appeared in his view at the end of the hallway. This was a famous sushi restaurant called "Sukiyabashi Jiro." It was the restaurant that Meng Fan's sisters had spent so much effort trying to reserve, and the place Meng Fan and Satomi Ishihara would be having their meal. 
At the door, Meng Fan paused and truthfully told Wu Tong. "Uhm, I planned this trip to Singapore and Japan a long time ago. My sister wants me to bring something for Satomi Ishihara, so we're going to grab dinner along the way. I'm outside the restaurant right now." 
He was honest but not dumb. He had to find an excuse… As for the blame, he could only put it on Meng Caiwei. 
"Oh, Satomi Ishihara? Go ahead. I'm not at the point of being jealous of someone thousands of kilometers away."
