A good week has 3 Chapters, a bad week 1 Chapter.

Haunted with the same dream night after night. Born with a strange birthmark on her chest, Briar spends endless nights wondering what these dreams meant. Her heart longing for the stranger in her dreams yet at the same time fearing that stranger. 
Her life was that of a normal student yet it all changes one night. She once again finds herself running from danger. A stranger appears to her rescue. Carrying with him the answer to her nightmares.

*These are inner monologues*

You: I thought it had already been a week. I was wrong. It's been a total of two days. Two days without texting him. Two days without seeing his name appear on my phone. Two days without the sound of his voice on the other side of my phone.

SeokJin: I suffered for two days without her. I didn't pick up my phone to call her. I didn't pick up my phone at all for that matter. My heart leaped every time a text message popped up on my phone. I thought it was her. I thought that I could apologize. But it never was.

You: Well, it's been a week now. No sight of him on my phone anymore. In fact, nothing from him anymore. Except for that stain, he left on my heart. That stupid mark. He got a knife and engraved his name so deep into my heart that it still hurt. After one stupid week, the knife was still plunged deep in.

SeokJin: I pick up my phone, but I don't have the courage to text her. I never do get the courage. I want to apologize. I want to talk to her. I want to hear her laugh across a phone call and she spam me with emojis on messages. I want everything to turn back to normal. I need to get the courage.

You: I'm over it. It's been too long now. The nightmares are bad. They're getting worst. Usually, he helps me with them but he's just not here anymore. I wake up crying in the middle night now. It's because of my nightmares, and it's because of the loss of him.

SeokJin: I wonder how she's coping with her nightmares. I want to text her in the middle of the night sometimes just to check up on her. I'm afraid of a non-response, though. I'm afraid she has replaced me with someone else who was better. Someone who treated her the way I should have.

You: Someone asked me out today. I told them yes. I don't know why. But I did. I might have said it to try and get rid of him from my mind. I tried. I failed. He's still in the mind, like a ghost. A hauntingly beautiful ghost.

SeokJin: I asked someone out today. She said yes to me. I wish she didn't though, but I'm glad she did. My mind is a horrible place. I'm dating one girl, but thinking about another.

You: We dated for two weeks. It was fine, I guess. I'm happy it's over though. My heart was never really in it. I'm just happy I didn't have to deceive him any longer. Sigh, a heartbreak hurts.

SeokJin: She broke up with me because she thought I was too heartless. Maybe I was. I don't know anymore. I don't know what to feel anymore. My heart is just empty right now.

You: I said fuck it. I'm going to text the person that I've loved my whole heart with and if the conversation doesn't work out, I will forget about everything. I'll drown myself in sad songs and books. I'll be okay if this convo doesn't work out.

SeokJin: I picked up my phone to text her, but I received a text from her first. A simple "hi." But it was that 'hi' that made everything better. It was that 'hi' that made my life turn around. It was that 'hi' that changed everything.

You: I smiled as a reply appeared on my phone next to his name. The heart was still there. "Hi." It was so simple. Yet I smiled. Widely. Truly smiled. For the first time in about forever, I felt happy.

SeokJin: I smiled at the lit phone in my hand as we exchanged text messages back and forth that night. It felt like everything was back to normal.

You: I smiled because, for once, everything seemed like it turned back to normal.

Chapter 1- Soo-Jin Lee

Soo-Jin Lee Age 10
The nights were growing colder and colder. You could hear the loud wind howl through the dark and lonely night.  The mournful howls of a dog in pain, in distress, and in dejection.  As I wondered the snowy forest in search of something magical, the loud cries of the wind disrupted the peace inside the forest.  I could feel the cool snow on the soles of feet.  The smoke that came from my mouth as I breathed out was white.  As I took every step in the forest,  my body became numb as every minute passed.  The blood that was coming from my body came rushing out.  

"I'm almost there" 

The night was long and dark without any lights in sight.  My white ghost gown began to bleed  in red as I continued to stroll down the long, thin path.  My vision became blurry as I saw the mansion coming into my view.  

The mansion was in my sight, yet I felt it becoming further and further away.  The blood came rushing into my head.  I hurriedly headed to the small room in the back of the house and lit 3 small candles.  Before I realized anything, my ghost white gown was half soaked in blood.  The loss of blood was more greatly than I had imagined.  

As I opened the small wooden cabinet, I quickly took bandages out and started wrapping my body around it.  My waist and stomach were covered in deep scars and scratches.  This was not the first time, a kidnapping like this had happened.  Being kidnapped at a young age multiple times  were nothing for me.  I have been able to escape by myself for all these years and this time was nothing different.  These have happened many times.  Nothing changed as I got older.  The maids, butlers, chefs, relatives, friends, and even my own family views  me as a nuisance. 

"I mustn't cause my family trouble."  That is what I told myself every day, for over 365 days a year.
As the time passes by, nobody in my family had realized my disappearance.  Day after day passed.  The lonely nights became nothing more than a normal day.  In the end, I was raised separately from everyone from my household.  At some point in time, I soon also stopped receiving food, from them.  

The starry night skies and shimmering stars were my only light that helped guide me.  As I finished up bandaging myself, I heated some warm water from the sink to drink.   As the water was heating, I threw the bloody night gown into the wash bin.  As I peered out the window, my imagination of the glistening world was starting to blur.  Everything came to a deep darkness as my eyes were starting to shut.  My imagination became dark and reality came to light.  I was lost in translation.  Before I realized, my body was at rest and my eyes were a falling asleep.  The long night had ended without any problems…...as I told my conscience. 

"Did my family notice anything?"
"No, they did not."
"Did I make the right choice following the kidnapping?"
"Yes, you did."
"Will people accuse me of my wrongdoings?"
"They will not."
"Tonight, am I able to sleep in peace without any nightmares?"
"You can sleep in peace without nightmares.  But...life without nightmares is no life at all."

Soo-Jin Lee was a very weak child.  She fought and fought for her country doing mysterious and dangerous work that people gave her all behind the backs of the people she cared for.  Not only was she an outcast, but a victim of bullying, human trafficking, and more.  What happens when the people that abandoned her find out about her past and current state.  Follow Soo-Jin and her life on a journey through the time that she has left.

The soldier in the imperial army uniform received a blanket and a cup of warm honey tea. As he held the cup, still slightly trembling in his words, he told the story of how he and his fellow survivors had lived through these days:
"The atmosphere of the city was weird quite some time ago. And we could see more than the commoners as soldiers. The Ebon Blades suddenly gathered and took our quite a command, and gave some very odd orders, like to carry the Foundation Stone out of the city and bury them there...
"Later, they had forbidden any outside contact, saying that this is a special war measure, then they started segregating the encampment, and we were divided based on our brigade. And they had sent out brigades upon brigades out for missions, but no one actually saw anyone leaving the camp, and those people 'sent on missions' seemingly just disappeared."
"Then those brigades came back, and I saw them from afar, and felt that something inside them had changed... I'm not talking about their looks, they look the same, but their eyes were weird, and there was this weird aura around them."
"Then the cases of missing people increased. People began having nightmares, and the nightmares were very real. We have seen monsters with so many eyes and limbs, and sometimes when we wake up, we can even see eyes on the wall. Some of the soldiers started to feel scared and thought that they were cursed. So they went to look for their officers, and the officers sent them to the mages to 'dispel the curse'. They were back the next day, and they looked all normal, and there were no signs of nightmares when they sleep. But I was even more afraid, as I felt that they were not even sleeping anymore... They were just laying there, the whole night, acting as if they were sleeping."
"I knew a guy called Wyatt. He was from the same village as me. He is the biggest tosser in bed, but the moment he was taken away and came back, every night during bedtime he would lay like a log on the bed, not tossing about, or snoring..."
"And one night I woke up at night, and I saw Wyatt sleeping like a log there, so I turned over to look at him, and I found his eyes open! He was staring at me, without a word, but I could hear his voice in my head!"
The surviving soldier started trembling hard, as his voice slurred and started rambling. Constance had to cast a calming spell on him, "Calm down, calm down. Those monsters are dead. Focus on the point, what happened afterward?"
"I was afraid, very afraid... The second day after that, an Ebon Blade came looking for me, said there's a special mission for me. They said that there is a curse of plagues in one of the quarters, and got a group of soldiers, with me in it to 'clean up' the infected. I sensed something wasn't right when I got there as there were no traces of plagues, they had simply cordoned the entire street off while the Ebon Blades went into slaughter everyone in there..."
"I then found an opportunity to escape, and running away was not difficult at all. I could not believe this myself, they did not even mind me running away, and they clearly saw me ran. By the time I turned back, I saw them still standing there, looking at where I was hiding. Each of them was expressionless, like puppets... Then I ran into the city quarter, and found out what happened."
"By the time we were quarantined, there were not many normal people left in the city, they had quietly infected and spread the taint, until at least half of the city was corrupted only did they kidnap people in broad daylight, and until the day I ran, most of the city had become 'them'! No matter where I ran to, I could not escape their eyes, their eyes are connected!"
"But I still found a group of survivors, the ones you found with me. Your Imperial Highness, you won't be able to imagine my surprise and joy then. They were hiding in an abandoned factory, and they were quite a big group back then, but on and on people heard voices in their sleep and those weak-willed ones would rise and walk into the darkness outside the factory. Those that had left never returned, and most of us tied ourselves to the pillars before we even dared to sleep, but even so, our numbers dwindled, and some vanished as if the nightmares had eaten them whole, and by the time I found them, these were the only ones left."
"And not long after, the Ebon Blades started the final 'cleansing' with the soldiers in tow, by then, ninety percent of the city had become them, and the rest could not even hide. The soldiers drew their blades and dragged those who had for some reason or another did not turn into monsters out of their hiding spots and butchered them in the streets, while the rest simply looked on, with hunger on their face..."
"As I was a soldier, I had noticed this beforehand, so I led everyone out of the factory to escape, I tried my base to avoid the soldiers, and we lost a few more in the process... We finally found this church, and there was a big undercroft underneath the church, and the entrance of the undercroft could be sealed, so we hid in there until today."
The surviving soldier's rambling tale finally ended, and Constance could only sigh, "For such a logical plan.... those half-way transformed monsters are even scarier than the ones that have fully turned, the mind is a scary weapon."
With the soldier's descriptive ability and mental state, it would have been difficult for him to clearly illustrate the harrowing experience that he had been through, and would not use any embellishments or metaphors to emphasis his point, but from what he had said, anyone could tell what sort of hellish experience that was. As the city had slowly 'changed', the ominous aura was getting more serious and obvious day by day, and everyone was turning into monsters, yet the power behind this was beyond their ability to strike back.
There was no escape. The monsters had already locked down all roads leading out of the city.
This was only the first month of the Battle for the Turn of the Eras, and based on past history, this was only the prelude to the nightmare awaiting this world.
"Seems like you don't know what actually blocked out the taint that allowed you to survive inside the undercroft," Rheia said as she looked at the soldier in the eyes. She could determine the truth and falsehood of every word and every hidden meaning behind every sentence. But from the soldier's emotions, she could not find any reason to explain the inexplicable survival of this group of people. They were not so strong-willed until they could resist the taint of madness, and in fact, after so many days of suffering, most of them were already at the brink. Forget about the taint of the Mad Lord, even any nightmarish conduit could easily corrupt their minds. "The reason should be inside the undercroft."
"This was what we found in the undercroft," Graeme said as he led a few soldiers carrying boxes of items out, if it's not here, it probably is something built within the undercroft like a barrier or something..."
The soldiers of the north had taken out everything that looked remotely like magical. Even anything that looked special was taken out as well, broken pottery, moldy blades, old statues of gods, ritual items as all sorts of things were laid on the group.
Thankfully there were not too many of them. And it seemed like the church was not all that wealthy.
Constance and Rheia stepped forward to inspect the items, and the first thing they did was to focus on the religious items: The former was clearly not too concerned about the gods, and the latter was trying to professionally analyze if the Gods of Dawn and Dusk were actually her comrades...
And Rheia's attention was soon caught by a shiny object among the junk.
Constance too was attracted by that object with a unique presence, she used her sword to pick up the item, and frowned slightly, "What is this..."
Before she could even ascertain what it was, Rheia suddenly yelped, "Huh?!"
The object on the tip of Constance's blade was an intricate silver wide armband, and the armband was really lavishly decorated, and the wide corners made it look a little bit like an arm guard, while and the hollow embossing on it depicted all sorts of complex runes and pictograms of flora and fauna but the size was clearly not for adults and were more like adornments meant for a child's arm.
Upon hearing Rheia's voice, Constance turned to look at the mysterious and powerful "little girl", and for some reason, she had linked the latter with the armband together.
The size... seems to fit?
"This..." Constance gave Rheia and uncertain look, "Could it be yours?"
Rheia was just about to shake her head to deny that, but she suddenly recalled something and replied in a rather ambiguous matter. "It just looked familiar. Would I actually have something inside... a church like this?"
"I just think that the size actually matches," Constance picked up the armband and placed it beside her arm. Of course, she was in her armor now, and could not put it on, but even without it, this band could not fit her. "It's clearly meant for a child..."
"Let me see." After suppressing her veins from popping on her forehead, Rheia said stiffly as she stuck her hand out for the armband.
"Here, have it."
Constance passed the armband over, and just as Rheia's fingers touched the armband, a thunder suddenly cracked in the ski.
Both of them looked up in surprise.
They only saw a rift opening in the sky, and the dark red rift looked similar to Gorgon's Abyss, and within the rift, there were countless of floating wreckage and bright lights, as beams of light shot out like lightning among the shadows as explosions roared from the deep clouds.
And an ethereal light belt pierced through the chaotic world behind the rift.
Rheia was shocked and quickly removed her hand from the armband.
And the bizarre scene in the sky disappeared.

Short-distance hyperspace travel.

Entering and leaving hyperspace in a split-second, just enough to travel less than half a parsec. Basically, it is enough for someone to go from one side of a planet to another. It was also a very dangerous and highly costly move.

Such type of travel used the same amount of fuel as any long-distance one, sometimes even more. It was also risky because, since it was almost instant, it would shake the entire structure of a ship. Smaller ships would instantly fall apart, and bigger ones would suffer a lot. But that wasn't the worse of it. By using short-distance hyperspace travel, anything that hit the ship when it came out of hyperspace would have the same impact as a laser cannon shot. And, considering that Ryloth's surroundings were currently filed with debris, one could imagine how big the chances of 'accidents' happening were.

But the Separatist gamble paid off. After all, they had tactical droids, and their circuits were programmed to deal with situations like this. They calculated were the dreadnoughts would arrive perfectly, and, aside from a few holes in their shields, the ships were almost intact. And that was where General Skywalker's plan failed.

He wasn't able to see two things. Firstly, he couldn't scan the fleet around the planet, so he failed to notice there were more enemy ships. Secondly, no one would have ever thought that the Separatist commander would be crazy enough to use short-distance hyperspace travel. Even for the Separatist and the Trade Federation, dreadnoughts weren't cheap.

"That isn't good..."

"Yeah. General Skywalker should retreat. He won't be able to break through now."

"This... isn't Master Skywalker."

"What? What do you mean, general?"

Ragout frowned, and looked up. Following his gaze, the clones saw the small squadron that was attacking the Lucrehulk-class Battleship push on forward. 

"What are they doing?! They are being cut off!"

While Cell was questioning the mental state of the clone pilots, Dageer looked at Ragout. The padawan had an expression of horror in his face.

"Who is leading this squadron, general?"

"I feel... Uhmm... I think it is Master Skywalker's padawan, Ahsoka Tano. Yeah... I feel her presence."

"General... I mean, Commander Tano? Why would she be leading the attack?"

"Master Skywalker must want to train her, just like Master Di once trained me. She is just like I was... Just like I was on Dantooine, with Kuvu."

"Well, Ryloth isn't exactly the best training grounds for a new padawan. She has to fall back, otherwise they are all going to die!"

Unfortunately, there was nothing the few dozen troops on the ground could do. It didn't take long for the first starfighters to blew up, and the Republic fleet also started taking heavy damage. Almost hesitantly, the starfighters got back to their cruisers, not without losses.

It all happened so fast. Firstly, it seemed like the Republic was winning, and in the next minutes, they were forced to run away with heavy losses, leaving several starfighters and one cruiser behind, to increase the amount of debris around Ryloth.

The clones watched silently as their hopes were crushed. It was almost impossible to believe it. The Republic's attempt to save Ryloth lasted less than an hour.

"I-Is... Is that it?"

"General Skywalker's capital ship was hit. I doubt they have the strength to fight the seppies. I guess we don't have to attack that relay station now..."

Tech analyzed the battle better than any of the others. Small discussions filled the clone group. After so many battles, they had long learned that it was better not to underestimate the Separatist. Commander Tano, unfortunately, was too inexperienced to know that.

Dageer looked at the troopers, and glanced back at Ragout. His meaning was clear. Ragout was now their general, and there were times that he should speak up to his troops. The padawan nodded, and turned to the clones, who instantly stopped talking and entered formation.

"At ease. The first attempt of the 501st have failed, but if I know Master Skywalker, he will be back soon. For now, we stay put, to when he needs us. We have been in Ryloth for a long time already, a few more days won't make a difference. Dageer, Shield, you know your roles."

"Yes, general."

"Understood, sir."

The clones waited for a long time, ready to invade the relay station. However, the 501st didn't come back that day. When night arrived, Ragout ordered the troopers to go to sleep. General Skywalker wouldn't attack today.

Dageer stood on guard that night. Usually, commanders wouldn't be on guard duty, but he insisted. Commander Keeli did that when he was still alive, and Dageer followed his example. It was a way to show the soldiers that although he was an officer, he was still one of them.

When his shift was almost over, he heard footsteps behind him. His hands reached for his vibroblade and his DC-17, but when he turned around, he saw it was just Brain. His brother saw him slowly moving his hand back, and nodded towards it.

"Things aren't good, are they, commander."

"Argh... I still hadn't got used to you calling me commander. It doesn't feel right."

Brain knew Dageer was deviating from the subject, but he didn't point it out. Other clones might not notice it, but Brain knew Dageer was under a heck more pressure than he showed. The clone never let the others see his weak side, when he doubted their chances of survival, and, worse, when he doubted himself.

"The nightmares are getting worse, aren't they? That is why you insisted on doing a guard shift."

"Yeah..."

Dageer didn't deny it. It was only with Hell Squad, and especially Brain, that he could tell the truth, and didn't need to show a strong facade. After all, the six clones knew him better than anyone else. Their bond wasn't something normal troopers had. It was forged by months of constant war and death.

"The day General Di died... The voice got stronger. It was... Happy. Happy that a Jedi died. And, for a moment, I felt happy too. Why, Brain? Why do we dream that every night? We are soldiers, created to fight for the Jedis. For the Republic. Why would we want it to end? Why would we want to destroy the Jedi?"

"We don't want to, sir. It is just nightmares, that's all it is."

Dageer frowned, looking at the moons over Ryloth. He wished Brain was right. He wanted Brain to be right. But his feelings told him that wasn't the case. There was something else to the nightmares. He just didn't know what. 

With a sigh, he put his arm around Brain's shoulder, careful not to touch the bandages around his head and neck, which were covering his injury.

"What... What will happen with us, commander? I mean, if General Skywalker is able to take back Ryloth."

"I have no doubt we will leave this planet, Brain. For better or for worse, our job here is done. There is nothing much we can do. The 303rd was destroyed. We will be divided amongst other legions. That is the normal procedures. As for Hell Squad... We are different. You know that."

"And what about General Ragout?"

"He is a Jedi. They have their own ways. Remember, Brain, we are soldiers. And this war isn't over yet. It won't be over for a long time. We will avenge General Di and Commander Keeli, no matter what!"

I had a sudden moment of inspiration, and decided to write it down.
I am not doing this to became an author and I might stop at any time.

PS2: There will be no harem or romance whatsoever, essentially because it would be too different from the lore, and also because I don't like it very much.
PS3: The protagonist won't have any Force powers.
PS4: The first chapters are small, but it gets bigger as the novel go on. As such, the first chapters are in a process of revision to make them more adequate to the rest of the novel. However, the novel doesn't stop because of this.

I was so disturbed by what had happened before that I could not fall asleep. Everyone around me just dropped, like the dead. Probably tired of the exhaustion…I wonder how they are able to sleep even under that curse, was it not supposed to make them restless?
We were back at the camp of stone. Where we rested the other night. This was a safe point to stop before we reached the cathedral
I have yet to see Haru leave the main camp tent, he was admitted under the pretext of being injured. I think they are just holding him there to make sure he would not spill the beans. I hope he agrees.
Otherwise, I don't believe that they would think twice before disposing of him, he must know things. Things I need to know…yet do I really need to take the risk for it?
Damn it…too many things to think of.
I sat up from my resting position and looked around.
I was inside the tent where most of the girls slept. It large enough that to contain all of us.
I took deeper breaths trying to forget about the horrors of this day, I really wished that it would not have ended this way. Truly this is sad. Why did Daiki have to be condemned to this fate? Why did any of us have to be in this position?
Who the hell are these ones that were responsible for this situation? 
Why did this even happen? We had a great life, without disturbance and trouble, filled with prospects for the future. An easy none-caring life where everything was almost handed to us, now we will be forced to work for our own survival.
If we do not comply, we will be disposed of like Daiki…
Daiki unlike us was a mere son of a commoner. Not that I belittle who he was. But the school where we were was out of his league, I think he would have had a better life in a normal school where he would have met normal kids.
Probably then he would not be with us, probably then he would have continued with his life.
Met someone and lived on a happier life, now his life had ended without remorse or even a proper burial…There was no eulogy for him…

Oh, so it appears to be like this…but we didn't have a deep bond why did it even appear in front of me? Shouldn't this go to Haru? Weren't they friends? I  only spoke to Daiki a few times.
Anyway, it doesn't matter, I held the small emerald like thing in my hand as it glimmered in the dim light.
I wonder how an ethereal thing like a soul would become physical. But it matters not, many things in this world are unknown, there is magic for god sake you can't explain that with science can you?
As I was lost in my ramblings and idiotic thoughts, something strange happened.
Every single girl in bed woke up, most of them screaming while the rest had the look of absolute terror on their face.
Chaos broke a moment later when the loud sounds of shouting and screaming permeated the camp. Everyone who was asleep woke with fright and terror, like if they had all seen a nightmare so terrifying that they turned pale from fear.
I turned to see Haruna Toujou near me; she was not screaming but was looking at her hands. She was shuddering and shaking unable to register my sound when I was trying to call out to her.

My eyes began to hurt for a moment then I saw something that I never thought I would see.
Ghosts? There were almost a hundred of them, they were small about the size of a fist, made of a dark matter, like a small puff of humanoid smoke. They hovered over the head of those that were sleeping…almost sticking to them.
Specter -Level 13- Specters are creatures of the dark, they feed on the nightmares of those that are asleep. These are usually harmless creatures only when they are agitated that they would attack. 

What the hell?
I called to the girl in front of me, she was still shaken and didn't even notice that her bed was now wet.
Once she looked at me, she calmed down
I tried not to agitate the creatures above her head and slowly pulled the girl towards me.
"Haruna pull yourself together! What is wrong with you?"
The girl didn't respond.
"Holy Radiance!!!" roared one of the churches' healers as she just entered the room.
The small specters then dissipated with the light and the rest of them scurried away.
Haruna seemed to have regained some of her conscious when I saw her eyes blinking in surprise.
"What happened Haruna?" I asked
She then replied
"I…I don't know, the only thing I know, if that I don't want to sleep anymore…I saw something. Something I cannot describe nor remember, but all I know is if I sleep, it will be waiting. I am scared Haruka!"
She said crying and hugging me.
Looking at the rest of the group I made eye contact with the healer that saved us.
"What were those small specters?"
"You can see them?" expressed the healer
I understood that seeing those things was not something ordinary, and as if I didn't want to bring attention to myself I answered.
"I saw a tiny person on top of Haruna's head…It just appeared for a second, and it disappeared when you used that spell."
The healer squinted her eyes thinking about what I just said, I hope that my life is not endangered. I don't know what they will do if they know I could see these things. I have to act smart about it.
"Well, I think this was an irregular event. These things are specters, those with a high level of the inspection skill can see them. Even I can't, I just understood it from the crazy ruckus that happened, these things feed on nightmares. And these nightmares are created by the curse that we all had been inflicted with; this is why the knights didn't sleep."
Thankfully I wasn't caught. It seems that the cause of their apparition is the curse of the restless…resting will cause everyone to see some sort of nightmare. But they all woke at once. This is quite disturbing, Haruna didn't even remember what was so terrifying in this nightmare. Maybe the others will remember. I should ask.

Once home she wrote down everything so she couldn't forget, sent it to everyone. She still had a minute before she caught the coin. Having more reading after everything she has been going though, she threw the Menflex to the ground and caught it. After she sat back on her bed to catch the coin. It landed time started and the Menflex looked like it had finished sending something. Information, data? She wasn't sure. It was sending things for so long it hadn't noticed her. Before it could teleport away she ripped its control panel open. Whatever it was sending before she was about to find out. It was like a circuit board. Computer class was gonna pay off as she put what the Menflex has send on the screen. She got a glimpse her before another came and nocked her out.

              Cora woke up and started drawing. She had forgot about what happened but her had started moving in a way she didn't expect. Moving it back to the drawing was useless and it went back to writing. Since at the end of the day it would happen anyway resistance was pointless and it was done writing soon. One look was enough to remind her what happened before. The things she wrote were the same words on the screen on the Menflex. 

           "Information sent: 
           Location 48932 confirmed and reported.
           Captured dreams moved to HQ. 
           Termination process 58 percent.
           Power supply now at 74 percent.
           Commence operations for now."

               The exact meaning of the words was to be determined and she could tell the location was her house. The numbers were coordinates, her coordinates. This explained a lot, they captured her dreams and sent it to their head quarters for power! That's why she was getting hurt at work. She wasn't daydreaming anymore though. The Menflex must have been causing them when it was taking dreams from her. Without her dreams it would be difficult to work but she couldn't go on break, that's for sure. Maybe it won't be as bad now that they done. She wasn't tired but she took a nap anyway.

              When she woke up the mail was here. Her paycheck was here. Going down the steps calmly she opened the envelope. Ten thousand dollars was in her hands. She didn't understand till she remembered last night and what happened. The normal amount she used to get was a lot anyway but what was she gonna do with this. Her life expenses were 500 for normal things. Now she had twenty times that. All of this expense was too much, even for the trauma.

             Cora heard her mom coming down stairs. Maybe she could give some to her. As her mom walked down the stairs her mom said good morning and sat down. Cora offered to make breakfast for her and made an omelette. "An omelette with a side of five thousand dollars!" Her mom was about to say thank you and start eating when the words settled in. Cora's mom jumped up and screamed "five thousand?"

           "Cora, where did you get all that money?" She asked
           "My work gave me extra for extra work?"
           "Sweetheart, five thousand is a big step up from 700!"
           "That's only the half of it, literally."
           "What you you mean?"
           "I actually got ten thousand, I gave you half the money."cora could sense the disbelief and concern in her mothers face.
            "Cora, you know I don't mean to pry but so much money can't go without questioned."
            "I know mom, I'll tell you everything."

                   And she did. They both sat down and talked. Her mom asked a question and she answered. It went on for a while but eventually they were done. Her mom knew her job, she didn't lie, and her mom was baffled. But she wasn't angry. To Cora's surprise her mom understood. Cora thought she would say it's dangerous, but It was what she wanted to do and it was important. Being a mom, she still had her concerns. Concerns turned to worry when they got to last night, the cause of the high pay. Once they were done, they enjoyed the breakfast and went on with their day.

                  Once Cora finished she headed up to talk with Nathan. He was online and egger to hear what happened. For the second time in an hour she was telling the story for the second time. Kinda irritating but she enjoyed talking to him. Once she was done Nathan was as concerned as her mother was. But he dropped it. They also talked about the Menflex. Talking about it reminded her to see what kind was following her. Nathan departed and she looked in the HQ logs. The Menflex that was following her was a Gahta, a gahta collects dreams and sends it up to the boss. They choose people with high and powerful dream counts. Gahta's have large screens as faces, a square figure, and four robotic legs that help it walk on air.

                 From the marks on the side it was a higher level Gahta. It was an honor and a curse to have a terra marked Gahta. She had powerful dreams, but they would become stronger faster. Most of the records on them were about a hundred years old. Weather the documents were reliable of not were questionable. The dream verse changes so much one day can be a few months ahead of time. Constant dreams mean constant changes. The time seemed to fly by and reluctantly she got ready for work again. There was a bad feeling following her but this was her job.

                She stepped out and almost fell in crazy lava. "My door is never safe!" Cora screamed. Her belt hooked onto a dream rock and she got out of her predicament. She captured the nightmare and moved on. "Next time I'm going out my window!" Mood worsening, she looked at her tracker and every single dream was a nightmare. Concerned, this was probably because of the Menflexes. They were making her job a pain. Mind thought a herd of lava horses ran past her. Remembering her task she ran after the mares. The horses took a sudden, sharp left. Causing her to slide in the lava trails their tails and manes leave. It burned but she almost had them. Back on their trail she was able to catch them once she used her dream catcher. She didn't have many nightmares so she converted it to a charm. Since it was a nightmare the charm had black in its red lava like glow. But soon there would be many nightmares.

                The nightmares found her quickly and they were on every street corner. Sirens, evil dragons, vices and many more. The vice was first to strike. It's scaled snake like body lunged at her as she dodged. The poisons scales were deadly as she has red. Razor sharp as well. Their weak point was their chin because it was the only spot with no scales or protection. Using that to her advantage she caught the vice and got hit in the back by a bear. Once again her situation was too overwhelming. Chances of victory were slim.

                   HQ must have been watching the situation because sudden reinforcements showed up. She only saw they for a little bit before she passed out. When she came to Cora, a dizzy mess, was back at home. Her mom was at her side and this time she was not happy. Cora's mom commanded her to quit and when she refused her mom got angrier. "Cora it's okay to go and catch dreams but being carried home unconscious is where I draw the line!" Her mother screamed at her a little more then stormed out of the room.

Today I couldn't sleep normal. I wake up every 1,5 hour because of nightmares. I haven't dream about that b***h from long times but now she appears there every 'happy' moments what we share show up again. Then it was happy but now it was nightmares I share with her a lot of things.
When yesterday I find out that I'm going with Sophia to Poland I thought I forgot about her but it wasn't truth. Today night was as a proof. After fourth time I wake up I couldn't sleep so I start watching anime. I don't have a lot to watch but thanks to recommendations I find some and I watch. 
I had no idea when time pass but by alarm ring. When I saw it I check all thinks one again and put my suitcase close to doors. I put there charger and my powerbank I put to backpack where I wanted my laptop to be. While I was putting it there I hears my phone ring it was text message from Sophia when I saw what was written there I answer 'ok call when you will be close so I could wait for you'. 
When I write it I close down my laptop disconnect with TV and put it inside. I haven't watch on my PC because I forgot to buy internet cable. Yesterday I find old one in my laptop bag but when I connect it I had no connection. 
I hadn't use it for long time most of time I spend here I use Wi-Fi so I hadn't notice. I could disconnect it from router but I spend a lot of time on my phone. When I discover it most of shops were close and I will buy it when I come back here.
While waiting for Sophia notice I had phone call first I thought is her so I answer but then I hear my boss voice
"Where are you? Skipping work its unprofessional that you haven't inform us that today you will have free day" he is angry.
"I'm going with Sophia to her business trip so you should be inform about it"
"really I had no idea about that let me check it"
"ok I will be wa… " I couldn't finish what I wanted to said and automatically voice start talking  "please wait talk on hold" "please wait talk on hold" "please wait talk on hold" when I hear it I put down my phone and start making some think to eat I become hungry as hell. 
I totally forgot that I eat nothing by all time I was wake up. When I finish I heard "Greg are you still there I confirmed what you said and its truth I will see you in 8 days" 
"ok by boss" 
When I hang out with him I saw I had text message from Sophia 'I will be late you could do some think but be ready I could call you any time'. When I read it I start eating again. While I finish I look and there only few minutes pass after her text so I could use toilet one more time before I go away. While I was sitting there I had phone call from here. When she said to me that she is outside I finish what I needed and go to her car. 'Time to back to home' I said to myself while closing doors and going down to her car.

Greg moved to America after his heart had been broken by his only girlfriend. 
He had the option to work from home (as an anonymous streamer) but all he did was reminisce about his first and only love that had been with him for only a short while.

Kubo Yuki had experienced the dark days during his father's abject generation. There were also times when they were struggling and desperate after his father's death. Up until now, that life was considered prosperous. Decades of experiences had taught him to be mature and even nurtured him to be resilient.
He did not belittle Kazuki because of his young age. After knowing that Kazuki held extraordinary powers, he went down on his knees and gave him a bow solemnly.
Kazuki hesitated when he saw Kubo Yuki down on his knees, but then he did not really mind.
People of Huaxia would only perform such etiquette on special occasions, but they were in Japan. A courtesy like this in Japan was none other than a common and normal culture.
"Mr. Kubo, how about you tell me about the characteristics of that ghost?"
He was the one who requested Kubo Yuki to meet him in the academy, to understand more of his situation for better preparation. He could not possibly have rushed to the Kubo Household right after knowing the existence of the ghost. He would have gotten himself killed pretty fast.
After hearing Kazuki's request, Kubo Yuki stood back up. He no longer acknowledged Kazuki as a mere human being, he only had respect for him. Nevertheless, the mention of this Buddha carving distorted his expressions as it brought back memories to him, memories which were not pretty.
"Actually, what happened was pretty straightforward. It was my 45th birthday about a month ago. A few friends of mine from the Dajin Group thought it would be a great idea for us to meet up on my birthday."
Because of the awful operation by its leader, Kubo Sagano, Dajin Group fell apart. It was a distinguished mafia organization in Jinwen District back at its time, but it was disbanded not long after Kubo Sagano's death.
As time flew and cities bloomed, gangsterism was slowly eliminated. Even Kubo Sagano's son, Kubo Yuki, had no intention of rebuilding the Dajin Group. In modern society, it was considered lucky not to be bounded by gangsterism. Of course, he wanted to be a good person in the future and contribute to the community as much as he could.
After the words died out, he inherited the courtyard left by his father and built a karate dojo, and it was finally turning out well economically for him now.
When his father, Kubo Sagano's body was being torn into pieces and thrown deep down into Tokyo Bay, many of his subordinates ran for their lives. After all, nobody wanted to die in vain. The ones who were still in contact with Kubo Yuki at present were all his best friends who managed to find a living by themselves after the incident.
That Buddha carving was a birthday gift from one of these friends.
"I got the Buddha carving from Koya Kazu. That fellow is currently organizing a mini-auction in Kyoto. He remembered that my birthday was coming. So when he first came across this Buddha carving, he bought it under his own name and gave it to me during the gathering." As he continued, Kubo Yuki took a deep breath, "The nightmares began from the second day I received this Buddha carving."
"What kind of nightmares?" Kazuki asked.
"Just normal nightmares, I guess." Kubo Yuki thought for a while, "There was no special meaning to them. In fact, I don't remember anything from those nightmares every time I wake up."
Kazuki nodded after hearing those words. It seemed like the nightmares had nothing unique. Still thinking about it, he motioned for Kubo Yuki to continue.
They were only nightmares, so Kubo Yuki did not really mind about them in the beginning. Who would not have a few nightmares? But, two weeks down the road, it occurred once every two or three days. Although things were getting weird, Kubo Yuki did not think much about it. It was until two weeks later when Kubo Yuki happened to look at himself in the mirror, he nearly could not recognize himself.
A pale and tired face with lifeless eyes and blue lips. That was how he looked like at that moment.
Besides, he clearly felt that his body was getting weaker… He was one of the trainers at Taijin Karate Academy, and his physical fitness was always at the top. The whey-faced man in the mirror scared the living daylights out of him. That was when he realized that something was really wrong.
He was awakened by a nightmare again that night. This time around, he was wide awake, but he could not move his body.
Any average person would have experienced this kind of sleep paralysis at least once or twice. But what scared Kubo Yuki the most was that he noticed that something was sucking his blood beside his neck.
He was right… The bat-like creature that was consuming his blood noticed that he was waking up or… it was waiting for him to wake up.
"When the monster knew that I was awake, it talked to me. It asked me to provide him with a specific amount of blood every three days. Otherwise, it will suck me dry." Paused, Kubo Yuki sneered, "It even said that as long as I agree with his terms and feed it with my blood, it will resurrect my wife."
"The dead cannot be resurrected." Kazuki said calmly, "You couldn't have believed this kind of nonsense, right?"
"That's right," Kubo Yuki nodded. He had never believed that the dead could come back to life. Even if this creature appeared and made him realize that supernatural powers do exist in this world, he would not be fooled. He was in his forties, not a ten-year-old. "Despite that, if I did not agree to what the monster said, I'm afraid I would be long gone by now. So, I went along with it and said that I actually wanted to resurrect my wife. That's how I've been living with it all this time."
Those days were the most unbearable and troubled days of Kubo Yuki. He was hopeless, and he could only wait in despair for his death.
On top of that, he had to feed the creature once in three days. As time passed, the frequency increased from once in three days up to once in two days. Just about four days ago, it had gotten to once a day.
He knew in his heart that he would definitely die from excessive loss of blood not long after. Even if he did take anti-anemic medicine or food, the monster's huge needs would be too much for him to bear.
Actually, the bat-like beast had tricked him several times to obtain blood from other sources. It insisted for him to bring humans back, but he kept refusing its requests.
He knew that if he did it for even once, he would fall into the endless abyss and become the creature's slave for his lifetime.
After listening to his story, Kazuki nodded ever so lightly. Kubo Yuki had great perseverance. He had been through all the sufferings alone and did not involve anyone. In spite of being the descendant of a gangster, he was really an upright and honest person.
"How about this, don't go back for the evening. Since I got rid of the weird scent on your body, you would be exposed for sure if you go back now. Let me inform the teacher in the infirmary so you could get some rest there." Kazuki muttered, "I'll go back with you to see if we can expel the monster later after school."
From what Kubo Yuki explained, this creature was most likely a Tsukumogami, just that its nature was evil and consumed blood to survive. The reason it had not begun to harm other humans might be because Kubo Yuki's blood supply was still enough for its needs.
However, the Tsukumogami had already expressed its intentions by asking Kubo Yuki to bring back humans for feeding. It might not be long before it started to bring harm to humans.
The only thing that confused Kazuki was that, would a Tsukumogami with evil nature also produce bad scent like a demon because of self-contamination?
