Keeley stared at the email in front of her in utter shock. While waiting to hear back about her proposal to begin human trials she had been helping Erica with her research on gene therapy and blindness. She checked her work email account on a whim while waiting for the centrifuge to finish running and now…
"Yes!" she shrieked, jumping up and down as she broke out of her daze.
Not only had she been approved, more than three dozen people had already signed up to participate in the clinical trials. She had expected less than ten; this was completely insane!
"Let me guess, you got approved," Erica said with a smile.
"Thirty-nine people signed up, Erica! Thirty. Nine. For the very first clinical trial! When Mason started his clinical trials on humans last year he only got eight volunteers in the first trial. Once that succeeded, he got about twenty. Why on earth did so many people sign up right away?"
"Probably because of that article about you that came out on the Association for Women in Science website last year. It mentioned all the success you had so far and that you had just finished the monkey trials," she pointed out. 
Erica was probably right. Keeley had gotten a lot of attention from that article. She had shared her brother's story when the interviewer asked her about her commitment to cystic fibrosis research. The interview had actually teared up listening to her.
Especially when she asked how Keeley handled the work/life balance and asked about her children. The interviewer nearly bawled when she found out she named her oldest son after her deceased brother. Was that really something to cry over?
As awkward as it had been being interviewed—she hadn't dealt with anything like that since being outed as Aaron's wife all those years ago—Keeley was glad she did it. Science had long been a field dominated by men and little girls interested in the field needed more female role models.
The first time a teenage girl recognized her on the street and asked for her autograph had been both confusing and gratifying. The girl's mother had been terribly apologetic, not knowing why her daughter was asking such a thing of a stranger on the street.
"Even if she is an actress you like, you can't just bother people like that Veronica! I'm so sorry."
"Mom, she's not an actress! This is Doctor Keeley Hale, the featured scientist on the AWIS website from last month." Veronica's eyes shone excitedly. "Did you really get your PhD when you were only twenty-five? Your research is amazing!"
"Thank you," Keeley said, startled by the praise. "I did."
Veronica turned to her mom excitedly. "See? I told you! She was pregnant too and still finished strong. Doctor Hale, you're the coolest! I want to be a geneticist just like you!"
That entire experience still made Keeley smile when she thought about it. That girl had been so earnest. When she told Aaron about it he laughed and said, "See? I'll be known as nothing more than Doctor Keeley Hale's husband in no time."
As much as she appreciated keeping a low profile, she infinitely preferred being recognized for her own accomplishments rather than simply for being Aaron Hale's wife. Veronica was the first but she wasn't the last.
Keeley actually had fan pages, mostly made up of teenage girls, on multiple social media sites. Her follower count on Instagram rose exponentially after that interview too.
"I think you're right," she told Erica.
Immediately she began scrambling around trying to figure out where to start. There was so much she needed to do!
First of all, she needed to set up meetings with each of the clinical trial participants. They had to sign waivers acknowledging any potential side effects and she had to explain the process to them. On top of that, she needed complete medical backgrounds and blood samples from each one.
"If you'll excuse me, I have thirty-nine phone calls to make," Keeley said before stepping out to find a secluded place to call.
Actually, she had forty. She needed to call Aaron first to tell him the good news. This wasn't the sort of thing that could be shared over text.
She called him but it went straight to voicemail. He was probably in a meeting. She didn't see the point in leaving a message since she knew he would call her back the moment he saw she had called.
Instead, she turned to her list of volunteers' names and began calling them one by one to set up consultation appointments. She made it through four calls before Aaron got back to her.
"Sorry sweetheart, I was meeting with a potential investor. What's up?"
Keeley figured it would be something like that. If it were with one of his subordinates he would have answered anyway. He had done it before.
"Thirty-nine people signed up for my first clinical trial! I broke the DOMA record!" she said gleefully, unable to stop herself from bouncing up and down. She got more excited the more she thought about it.
Aaron was definitely smiling; she could tell. "That's amazing! We definitely have to celebrate tonight. Where do you want to go?"
"Could we go to that teppanyaki place I like? I'm in the mood to watch people play with fire. I'll see if my dad is free too. He'll be thrilled."
 Keeley chuckled as she thought of his reaction. Robert Hall had been very, very proud of his daughter throughout the entire research process. Now that she was this close to actually curing someone he might burst from pride.
"Sounds good to me. I'll make a reservation at six for seven people just in case."
"Awesome. I better go; I have thirty-five more phone calls to make. I just wanted to tell you the good news," she admitted.
"I'm glad you did. I'm so proud of you, Keeley. You're so close to achieving your dream!" Aaron said with obvious affection in his voice.
No matter how many times she heard that loving tone it always got to her. The warm and fuzzy feeling inside of her intensified. He really was such a wonderful, supportive husband. Nobody cared about her research more than Aaron did.
"Thanks, honey. I'll see you after work, alright? Love you."
"Love you too."
The call disconnected and Keeley smiled to herself. Right now she felt like the luckiest person in the whole world. She really hoped nothing went too terribly wrong with the clinical trials.
She knew her research was solid but different people reacted differently to the same treatment. Side effects were her biggest concern at this point. Unless they were able to be controlled, her treatment would never be approved by the Food and Drug Administration as a viable cure.

Once sales were made, Gun-Ho issued electronic tax invoices and added earnings and expenses to <Daily Earnings and Expenses> table in Excel, and then reported it to the owner.
 
Gun-Ho made sure to collect all receipts of every business expense incurred and attached them with glue to the back of an expense form he had purchased from a stationary store in order to properly document them. If there was a client with an outstanding balance for LP gas, Gun-Ho would make a collection phone call to that client as well. He also ran errands for the owner.
"Years of my life will go by like this?"
Gun-Ho was barely making a living; he felt anxious about getting old without saving money.
"It's Wednesday and I don't hear anything from that company in Asan which I had an interview with."
Gun-Ho was constantly checking his smartphone to see if there was any text message from the company. He increased the ringtone of his phone to make sure he didn't miss any calls. There was no phone call, let alone any text message.
"I don't think I got the job. Let's just move on; it is a lost cause. So many smart people are out there. I can't compete with them with my rubbish work experience and qualification. I just have to appreciate the opportunity for having a job interview with them."
Friday came around after Wednesday and Thursday. Gun-Ho gave up on getting a position in the company in Asan. He once again started looking through the newspaper classified section and WorkNet; however, there was no job advertisement which drew Gun-Ho's attention.
"The companies posting a bookkeeper job opening in a newspaper classified section will hire a female, not me. If they hire a male for the job, that's probably because the position is half bookkeeping and half irrelevant chores."
After work, Gun-Ho usually surfed the internet on his laptop in dim light or he went to the PC room in the neighborhood. He felt like he was falling so much farther behind in life compared to his high school friends, which made him feel depressed.
"Won-Chul Jo who is now married should be doing fine, shouldn't he? Byung-Tae Hwang who is working in a research facility of a startup company in Pangyo is getting married soon. He posted about his wedding on Facebook but didn't personally inform me. He could easily find my phone number by contacting Won-Chul or the others."
Gun-Ho drank soju almost every other day, and that increased his alcohol tolerance.
"I am destined to live in the countryside. My life is f*cked up. I have ShinWangJaeWang fate? ShinWangJaeWang my a*s."
 
It had been more than two weeks since Gun-Ho had a job interview with the company in Asan. The memory of the interview was fading away when he received a phone call from that company, a very unexpected one at that.
"Mr. Gun-Ho Goo? How are you? I am the manager of YS Tech in Asan."
"Oh, hi. This is Gun-Ho Goo."
"I am sorry that we took a long time to contact you. You have been hired as our bookkeeper. Can you start on the 1st of next month?"
Gun-Ho came to his senses by this unexpected and sudden phone call.
"Oh, of course, sure. I… I can."
"You have only five days left until the 1st of next month. Can you manage to quit the current job and start a new job with us within five days?"
"Of course, of course. I can certainly do that!"
"Let me tell you then what to bring on your first day of work. You might want to get a pen and a paper."
"Yes, I am ready."
Gun-Ho was so perplexed that he dropped his cell phone while looking for a pen and a paper, and stumbled over the computer power cord.
"You should bring a resident registration, a resident registration abstract showing the status of your military service duty, your highest school diploma, Consent to Collect and Use Personal Data, Identity Assurance Statement, and a work experience certificate letter from your current employer. I will send the forms for the Consent to Collect and Use Personal Data and Identity Assurance Statement to the email address indicated on your resume."
"Okay. I will prepare all those documents and bring them on my first day of work!"
"You can come by 8 AM on the 1st next month. I will see you then."
"Thank you. Thank you."
Gun-Ho felt so grateful to be hired by this company that he repeated "thank you" twice.
"I got it! I got the job!"
Gun-Ho clapped. He felt like he could fly.
"By the way, why did they call me just now? They said they would contact me by last Wednesday."
Gun-Ho sat on the chair and started thinking.
"I guess that the person they hired decided not to work with them, so they hired me instead as a substitute. Of course, I can't be their first choice. Well, they hired me anyway. Let's move to Asan."
Gun-Ho stopped by the Eunhyeon Township Office to get the resident registration and the resident registration abstract on the way to work after collecting bills.

It was getting dark; Gun-Ho drove to the Gwangjeok Township Office area where his room was located. He called the landlord to give him the notice to vacate his room.

"Primo, they found a report about Nyelle's mother. I sent the details to your email."
"Okay. Thanks."

Thinking that it must be urgent for even Sylvan to call him late at night, he went to his study to check his email. He didn't like what he read and for sure Yve wouldn't like this, too. But he's bound by the promise they made at the beach.

"Hmm?" Vince said as he stopped eating to look at Yve doing the same thing to him.
"To be honest, I feel nervous knowing the dangers that being in the underworld might bring."
"Do you want me to quit?"
Yve looked at him and said, "As if it would be that easy to quit."
"So what do you want me to do?"
"Just be honest with me."
"...."
"I don't need you to tell me the specifics especially when it doesn't concern me. Don't make lies like you're going for a business trip or something. Just tell me you need to do something Primo-like."
"Primo-like, ei…" 
"..."
"Please, Vince. Other than that, I want you to ensure your safety as well. After that, I guess everything is fine with me."

Vince took a deep breath and turned his laptop off and decided to tell Yve everything tomorrow morning. Before heading for bed, he instructed Sylvan to inform the police station that both of them are coming in the afternoon for their interview.  He finally took a shower and slept. 

The following morning, Yve was the first one to wake up and so she took the responsibility to prepare a simple breakfast for both of them. A few moments later, she saw Vince coming down from his room with a brown envelope in his hands. She decided to ignore it thinking it was related to Gray Group.

"Good morning, King!"
"Good morning, my Yve." Vince said and kissed Yve on the forehead.

But his next actions caused Yve to be curious. Vince pulled back a chair for her and urged her to take the seat. Yve decided to follow and was handed with the envelope. She gave him a questionable look.

"As much as I would like to hide it from you but a promise is a promise." Vince said as he went to the kitchen and served the food on the table. 
Yve reads the contents of the envelope and was shocked to see the title. 
"Did you held them captive?" Yve asked.
"Yes."
"How are they?"
"Nyelle is doing much better than your step sister."
"I want to see Nyelle now. Take me to her."
Vince knew about this but didn't say anything. He sat on one of the chairs and looked at her.
"How about your interview in the police station?"
"Ahh!! I almost forgot! I'll call Sylvan to…"
"There's no need. Upon receiving the report late last night, I ordered Sylvan to postpone your interview. It will this afternoon with me." Vince explained.
"Thanks. So, will you take me to where you're keeping her?"
"Do I have a choice?"
"NO!"
"Then to avoid your dangerous methods, I'd rather take you there myself before my subordinates kill you."
Yve swallowed her saliva in fear of what she heard but in the happiness of Vince's decision, she hugged her and whispered,
"Thank you so much."

Today is another busy day for me. Work and home are the only places I go to for the past 3 years. The end of THAT relationship ended my happy, easy-going life. But then, when I think about it, it was not his fault but mine. My friends would tell me that I need to move on. I HAVE MOVED ON. It's just I don't want any side trips anymore in my life. I have my dreams and I am working hard for it. Little did I know what the destiny has installed for me.

"Mom, I still love her. She ended the relationship without any valid reason and I didn't agree."

"But son, what if the reason is that she doesn't love you anymore? Isn't that a reason valid enough for you?"

"I have to know it this time, mom. I did try to go out on dates but still failed. I think meeting her again will help me know what is happening with me."

"I guess I have no other choice. But remember, don't let her disrupt your plans and the family's business."

"I know, mom. Steph, book my flight to the Philippines tomorrow."

"Vincent! Why are you in so much rush?!"

"I think we're safe here" said Martin. The two of them have been walking non-stop to find a temporary place to stay. Away from this rain and from they pursuers.

They were able to find a small cave near the river. Seems like this cave is like a maze for it has quite several holes that you can enter to.
Its a perfect place for them to escape as well just in case the enemies are able to catch up to them.

"Good thing this place is not so humid. There are still dry twigs we can use to start fire", said Elena while picking up some woods.

Being the eldest among the six children, Elena learned what kind of food they can pick up on the mountain to get by. She also knows how to start a fire using just twigs as matchsticks are quite expensive to buy.

While Elena is adding some twigs to the fire, she noticed Martin was murmuring something the entrance of one of the caves they were at. She also thought to herself, "Please dear heavens, protect us from our unknown enemy" prayed Elena.

Martin came back to her with some edible mushrooms on his hand so they can roast it in the fire. Seeing the smile on his handsome face makes Elena's heart skip a beat.

Elena woke up in the middle of the night. She noticed the time on her phone already strikes midnight.

Ahhh, she is now officially 25 years old. Time really do flies so fast, she thought to herself. 

After receiving the call about her job interview, it took a while for her to go back to sleep because of her excitement.

When she finally managed to sleep, she had this weird dream. Seeing a man smile made her skip a heart beat but most of his face is blurry.

Argh! now that I finally turned 25, I'm getting this sort of dream. Is it because I haven't had one since birth? Elena blurted out.

She suddenly sat on her bed, feeling frustrated. How is she to have a relationship when she can even properly fend for herself. All she cares about is how to pay all the bills and make sure Mrs. Garfield won't kick her out.

It's not that she isn't pretty, but she don't have extra cash to buy some beauty products. She would wait for her friend Catie to give her some free samples from the beauty store she works at.

Thank heavens for Catie, otherwise at my age, wrinkles will be showing all over my face.
Oh! Speak of the devil~~ Her friend is calling her at midnight.

17 Hours Before..



River Kennedi enters the relative calm of his small, shared Apartment Complex. A rundown space, with second hand Furniture and displays of amateur art. A place kept spotless, except for the litter of completed, half finished and discarded paintings and drawings. The only case of disarray, against the washed out, but immaculate decor. 

River whisked his Raven black hair, away from his face. Squinting his emerald green eyes, against the burning haze of oil paint and acetone. He kicked off his old converse Sneakers, shaking off his knapsack--discarding it on the floor beside his shoes. He yawned marginally, feeling his body grow fatigued as his clothes rustled. His baggy Denims and Pullover Hoodie, a size to big for his petite frame. 

His face was contrite with weariness, and his legs ached from working a twelve hour shift. Something he was accustomed to, yet still found the side effects to be entirely bothersome. 

A loud clang in the Kitchen echoed throughout the Apartment. Capturing River's attention as he shimmied out of his grey Pullover, dropping it on the old, cloth Couch. 

"Shit!" The voice of his Roommate followed shortly after, making River chuckle lightly as he walked towards the Kitchen. 

James Bordeaux, the Roommate,  was standing over a spilled bucket of Canvas paint. A gruff frown on his subtly handsome features. His dirty blond hair caught up in a messy ponytail, and his blue eyes scowling at the predicament he faced. 

The paint had splattered all over the low, wooden cupboards--forming a puddle on the tiled floors. It's bright tint leaving speckles of red across the small, old doors. 

"That's gonna be a little hard to remove," River said, jolting James out of his terrified trance. 

"River! Goddammit, you scared the crap out of me!" James exclaimed frowning--his British accent as deep and attractive, as his magazine worthy face.

"You'll get over it, once you get that mess cleaned up. We can barely afford to pay for this place as it is and I'm pretty sure Ms. Corrigan won't appreciate your splatter art all over her Kitchen Cupboards." River mused and James mocked his smile. 

"Ha ha, you're a bloody comedian." James deadpanned, entirely annoyed. 

"And you're a bloody mess." River faked a British accent, causing James's bushy eyebrows to scrunch up in confusion. 

"Are you going to help me or not?" James asked, his ocean blue eyes pleading. 

River scoffed lightly, knowing well that he needed rest for the next day to come. Another five hours at the Burger Joint, and the next few hours of daylight searching for a new Job. 

"Nope." River said, walking towards the Refrigerator. The only decent piece of electrical appliance in the small, stuffy Apartment. 

"I hate you," James griped out and River grinned. 

"I'll live with myself." River said, removing a bottle of spring water. "Besides, I need to rest. I have a long day ahead tomorrow. You know I'd have helped, if I wasn't so sleepy." 

"This is why you should have chosen Art as a Major, yah bloody wanker." James implored, watching River down the bottle of Water in just one go. 

"I don't think your Professors would appreciate my stick figures, and smearing of paint with my tiny and not so manly fingers. Enigmatic my ass." River scowled with a thoughtful glance at James who rolled his eyes. 

"Fine I'll do it my damned self, meanie." James sassed and River smiled, nudging James as he passed him. Careful not to step into the paint, that would have surely stuck to his feet for days. 

"Where's Cassie?" River asked, noticing that James' character of a Girlfriend wasn't around. "She's usually strolling around half dressed, speaking crazy and screaming at you." River grinned at James. 

"Watch it, Mr. I can't get a Boyfriend because I'm too busy with my Business Degree." James mocked in a freakishly squeaky voice, and River frowned at the inaccuracy of it. 

"Hey, I don't sound like that! And I sure as hell don't have time to be coddled and fondled by a man." River challenged, but James simply scoffed. 

"And I presume fondling yourself while you think I'm sleeping is better?" James grimaced at River, who's cheeks tinted in abysmal embarrassment. 

"Dammit those old, squeaky ass beds," River cursed under his breath. James only smirked at River's rant, but he instantly realized he was allowing the paint to dry. 

"At least you're man enough to admit it," James gibed, roaming through drawers for something to clean the mess with. 

"Shut your Pie-hole, and clean that paint up, Mr. Bordeaux." River retorted, throwing the empty, water bottle at James' head. 

"You bloody wanker!" James screamed as River sped-walked away. 

River loved the banter between him and James. It was the one thing he looked forward to, after a long day of rude customers and a nagging Boss. He however felt the urge to tell James that he had been fired, but he also hoped that the high paying internship that he had been contacted about, would be granted before he had to. 

It had been days since he submitted his resume. He thought of it almost every hour, which led to him being distracted. It also roused up a sudden confidence in him. A confidence that made River talk back at his Boss, Mr. Bash. Who then proceeded to fire him. He thought if only he had kept his mouth shut--then again. River was tired of being spat on, walked over and screamed at by a man whom was much shorter than him. A man who in James's most colorful opinion, was an Arsemonger.

River entered the cramped interior of his Bedroom. A rectangular space, with mismatched wooden, metal, and plastic furniture. He hurriedly stepping out of his Denims, grimacing at the sudden coldness--seeping through his pores. Caused by the stone floor, that was the same bland, cream color as the papered walls. Murky and as boring as River thought himself. A trait he hated, yet lived with because of his past. 

He discarded the Blue Denims atop his bed, yawning and covering his mouth. 

River huffed heavily as he fell backwards into the Bed--in his boxers and an old but favored Band Shirt. Frowning as the loud squeaking resonated throughout the entire Bedroom. He gazed up at the lightbulb in the ceiling, his facial expression neutral. 

He quickly fished his phone from his left pocket. Sliding the cracked screen across, hoping to find something interesting. He then decided to check his emails, a small twinge of hope, inspiriting within him. That hope burst into nauseating nervousness, as he saw the brand new email in his inbox. 

Titled; Black and Co. Application. 

He swiftly flew up, in a sitting position. His heart palpitating so loud, he could hear it beating as if within his eardrums. With a fidgeting thumb, he opened the email. But his mobile data seemed to be slowed down, as it usually did when his megabytes ran dry. 

So he waited ten seconds, but nothing. 

Another ten seconds, then his patience ran dry--yet still there was nothing. 

He opted to wait another ten, but he gave up after just three seconds, the moment he remembered his Laptop. The only thing in the Apartment, that was connected to the Neighbor's Wifi. 

"Crappy phone!" River cursed under his breath, dropping the cellphone on the Bed. 

He then rose to his feet, hurriedly striding towards his cluttered Computer Desk. Where his HP laptop sat, halfway opened. He hastily opened it up, narrowing his gaze as the screen lit up. Within seconds, he entered his password and smiled. For the screen was already on the email tab. 

He paused for a second, even more agitated than before. His head felt swollen, and he feared if he water any longer. 

His brain would explode. 

River squeezed his eyes shut, clicking the mouse once. He let out a dry huff of air, slowly opening one eye. 


From: Grace Keller, CFO. Black & Co. 
Received 12:55 pm. 
Subject: Re:Application.

After reading that first line, both of River's eyes opened. Peering at the screen, with squinty yet eager eyes. 

Hello Mr. Kennedi, 

           This reply is in regards to the Internship Application that you have submitted. I have to say I'm quite pleased with your Resume, and I look forward to you attending a scheduled Interview. 


An excited scream erupted from River's lips, but both his hands swiftly covered his mouth to stop himself. River looked around, to see if James was nearby--unable to contain his excitement. He soon squeaked almost inaudibly, continuing the email. 


I have taken the liberty of setting up an interview on the nearest date possible. I hope that you will be able to attend on such short notice. I am aware that you have been recommended, by a well known Professor at Lockwood University here in New York. 

However, I wasn't able to review your Application until earlier today, but it is to my understanding that it had been sent to us a week ago. 

My apologies for the wait, and I sincerely do hope that the chosen date of the Interview is convenient to your daily schedule.

January 21, 2016. 3:00pm.

River's eyes widened as he read the date out loud. He was finally rudely interrupted by James--bounding into the Room. A bottle of Jergens Lotion, clutched in his hands--almost defensively. 

"Umm," River grunted and James's frightened expression, changed to one of relief. 

"Thank heavens! I thought someone attacked you!" James said, clutching his chest with genuine concern written in his eyes. 

River however, glanced from James, to the bottle of Lotion in his hands. "So you came to my rescue with a bottle of Lotion." It was more of a statement than a question, and James frowned at the revelation. 

"Uhh, yes?" 

"What were you going to do?" River asked and James's left eyebrow rose in limpid puzzlement. "Moisturize them to death?" River queried, and James's gaze flattened. 

"Has this bloody thing ever been in your eyes?" James asked, walking into the Room. 

"No, it hasn't." River said, sounding a little bit concerned. 

"Oh, well." James dropped the bottle of Lotion on River's bed as he plopped down lazily. "The least you could do is say, 'thank you James, for coming to save me. What a true knight in shining armor you are." James recited, almost too dramatically and River groaned in angst. 

"Thank you James, for coming to my rescue with a bottle of Lotion, obviously almost empty due to your rigorous amounts of masturbation." River mused and James cocked an eyebrow in his direction. "Your beds are squeaky too." River smirked at James's horrified look. "But as you can see, I'm fine. Just excited." 

"That's what that girly scream was?" James asked, befuddled and River face-palmed himself roughly. 

"No, you moron, well, kind of!" River seemed confused, and James seemed even more baffled. "I'm excited because I got the Internship." River deadpanned finally and James scowled. 

"The Black & Co.?" He asked and River glared at him incredulously. 

"No, for Men.com." River muttered, "Yes! For Black & Co., twit!" River snapped and James glared at him, but it soon turned into a broad smile. 

"Now way!" James exclaimed excitedly and River grinned proudly. 

"Yes, way!" 

"I knew you would get it, babe!" James said confidently and River blushed, a big grin on his lips that hurt from smiling a bit too much. 

"The interview's tomorrow!" River said, rising from his seat and sitting down beside James. 

"Uhh, tomorrow, tomorrow?"James's smile faded, worrying River immensely. 

"Yes tomorrow," River answered, his smile fading a little as he saw the look on James's face. "Aren't you excited?" River asked with a pout and James sighed heavily. 

"I am, I am but-," he paused and River frowned marginally. "You have to go see your Mum tomorrow. You know that visits to that God- forsaken place is complicated enough as it is." 

River scowled as he pondered the outcome of not going to see his Mother. 

He considered not going, but the Hospital only allowed visits twice per week in that Ward. So River had a decision to make, and it was enough to down his spirits. 

"Ugh, you're right." River said, falling back on the Bed. 

James followed suit, and they both gazed up at the ceiling. River was lost in thought, and James opted to remain quiet. To give River time to think about his options, and come up with a solution to his problem.

"Do you think she'll wake up?" River asked and James shrugged. "What if she does and I'm not there?" He queried, but James didn't have the answers he sought after. 

"I don't know, babe." James sighed, his worry for his Best Friend, obvious and genuine. "This Internship is a once in a lifetime opportunity. If your Mother does wake up from her Coma, I'm sure she'll understand why you weren't there." James advised and River gritted his teeth, considering James' words deeply. 

"The Interview is at 3:00, and visiting hours starts at 2:30pm." River acknowledged, and James nodded. 

"Go see your Mother, if even for ten minutes then go to your interview. Your Mother lived her life, despite how terribly it turned out. Don't let anything stop you from living yours," James said as he rose from the Bed, nudging River's cheeks in the process. 

"Ok," River pursed his lips, rising up to a sitting position. 

"I'm going to make us some Pasta, and you can tell me all about this new internship." James grinned and River blushed lightly, smiling up at James. 

"Ok," River nodded and James rose an eyebrow at him. "Babe," River let out exasperated, and James pointed a finger at him--clearly pleased. 

River watched in angst as James exited the room--his feet pattering against the floor lightly. He then turned to his Laptop--a slight grimace masking his features.

Arc 1: Finale

Sarada rested her head on one of the metallic chairs in a corridor just outside the room where the siblings were in. She was just silent and closed her eyes. She had recapped on what happened during the rest of the afternoon. It was eventful yet tiring for her. Facing the Hokage and doing everything she can to convinced her. The confrontation really drained her physically and a bit mentally. In the end, her efforts were successful, and she was just waiting for the Hokage to do the DNA test. Although, she had to take part of it, even she had shown the Sharingan in front of her. Maybe this was just to make sure that she was really telling the truth.

Sarada took a deep breath to relax. She really needed a nap right now but at this rate, she cannot. She had so many things to do at the moment. She just used this short time to take a little bit of rest. At any minute she would be called by the Hokage inside.

She thought of the Uzumaki siblings who were inside the room conversing with the fifth Hokage." I hope they are alright. She muttered. She was a bit concern about them. This Lady Hokage was different, she still had that strict and serious attitude. She could be interrogating them right now!

Sarada opened her eyes. She rubbed her eyes and then yawned. She was not doing anything good for her to have a good little rest.

"Is something wrong?" The raven-haired teen then heard a familiar voice and she turned to her left and saw Hanabi holding two cups of hot drinks.

"Yeah, I'm fine Aunt Hanabi." Sarada replied but she was obviously looking not alright. She then accepted the cup of hot drink which was revealed to be hot tea this time.

Hanabi just sighed. She then sat down beside the latter. She then took a sip of her hot tea that she bought from the nearby tea house. The Hyuuga girl then stared at the raven-haired teen, she deduced the fact that she is thinking about Lady Hokage again.

"You know if I were you I would be celebrating right now." Hanabi spoke towards the latter.

Sarada then looked up from her drink and then turned to latter and raised her eyebrows in confusion. Why would she say that?

"I mean just think about it. You managed to convince the Hokage by coming along let alone made the duel between you and her a draw." Hanabi explained. She witnessed the whole event unfold, why would she have worried. The outcome turned out to be successful.

"Maybe, she still in a bad mood after that ordeal." Sarada replied. She was thinking the other way. Yes, she did convince the Hokage to come with her, but it also ruined her day and her face will be forever remembered by her as an annoying girl.

Hanabi sighed." Don't think about the fact that she is in a bad mood!" As the latter stood up from her seat and went in front of the latter.

"You didn't have to cause her bad mood, but you did the right thing by showing the truth into her face." Hanabi explained. She was just pointing out the facts.

Sarada was surprised. She was just telling the latter she was a bit afraid of the Hokage of what she can really do to a person when provoked. She did not want to get heated on by a legendary figure in history.

"You don't have to be afraid, you gotta believe in yourself!" Hanabi said. She was trying to lift the girl's spirits. It doesn't make sense on why she should be feeling down.

The raven-haired girl, just stared at the latter. She was just speechless. Who knew this Hyuuga girl can really motivated a person that much. Nobody has seen this before in Hanabi.

Hanabi smiled." You know once this DNA test is over, everyone's gonna owe you apology." She explained. The girl can see the positive outcome in this situation. They just need to be patient that's all.

Suddenly, the door to the room opened. Both girls turned their heads towards the person who came out. It was none other than Shizune who had positive smile on her face.

"Well, Your Sarada is it?" Shizune asked.

Sarada blinked a couple of times before realizing that she was asking for her name." Yes Ma'am." She replied politely.

"Well, Lady Tsunade wants to see you inside." She explained.

Sarada then gave a glanced at the Hyuuga girl who gave her a smile of encouragement. The Uchiha girl then took a deep breath. She then looked at Shizune and nodded at her before she stood up from her seat and headed inside.

Shizune decided to stay outside of the room for a while. She sat down beside the Hyuuga girl's seat. The black haired young woman sighed. She took a deep breath and let out all the tiredness that she had.

"So, what's your problem?" A female voice then asked. The young woman turned to The Hyuuga girl who gave her a look.

Shizune sighed." I think I need a very long vacation." She replied. Of course, who would want to have this job as the assistant now that the slug princess is the Hokage, things became busier in her life. She was turned into a 24/7 Assistant for the rest of her life until a Sixth Hokage come into existence.

She was the apprentice of the Legendary Sannin. An accomplished medic-nin and Jounin. Now she found herself in a situation where every routine is the same for her everyday life. From carrying paperwork to managing the lunch and dinner schedules, and lastly escorting the Hokage to the gambling areas. This wasn't the life that she wanted.

Uncle Dan would be so much disappointed to see this.

It was a whole new other life for young apprentice of the Hokage. Shizune then rested her head on the chair and closed her eyes. She also wondered on who the group of teens are, she felt a strange feeling that she had met them before.

As for Hanabi, she just sighed and proceeded back on her business of drinking her hot tea. She really needed to some peace for a while.

Sakura smiled as she finally found the jackpot that she was looking for. The blood samples of her Blonde and raven-haired teammate. She was currently at the blood storage room in the hospital. She then took the two blood samples that were stored in a cold refrigerator and carefully placed it on a small tray.

She then observed the two blood samples for a while. It's been two and half years and she had not seen these two guys. What were they doing nowadays? Naruto was currently in his training trip with Jiraiya-sensei while Sasuke was in the hands of the missing nin criminal, Orochimaru.

Sakura could only sigh. She gave a downed face. She wondered when she'll ever see them again. The Team has been inactive for two straight years now while the rest of the other teams were still there and taking on missions assigned by the Lady Hokage.

Sensing that she was drowning in her thoughts. She then shook her head as she snapped from reality. She then sighed and closed the still open door of the cold refrigerator.

Heading back towards the room.

(MEANWHILE)

It was an apparent good and enjoying sight that the raven-haired girl witness inside the room. She did not expect that the siblings would have the power to loosened up the serious Hokage.

Sarada watched the fifth as she continued to laugh with a mix of irritation from the jokes of the Uzumaki siblings that range from different aspects. Jokes such as Tsunade would need a personal punching bag to let out all her frustrations or Tsunade needing a larger table for her paperwork

It was a scene that was impossible for the raven-haired girl. She darted her eyes to her blonde teammate who gave her a winked in return telling her that she should sit back and relax. They can handle this with their power of talk no jutsu.

(MEANWHILE)

Sakura observed the medical kit that she had brought from the equipment storage. She was wondering why Lady Hokage would do a DNA test right at this moment. She thought it was impossible for the siblings to be related to Naruto and Sasuke. As matter a fact, the blonde Uzumaki had no siblings of his own and Sasuke's only brother had been gone in the village for a very long time.

Unless, Lady Hokage wanted to compare their blood types to the siblings? It was strange right now and speaking of the siblings where do they come from?

When she had arrived at her destination. She found herself staring at Neji and Shizune who were sitting at their respective seats.

"Shizune?" Sakura called out to the dark-haired assistant of the Hokage who had took a brief nap for a while.

Shizune immediately opened her eyes and woke up from her nap. She was not aware that she had fallen asleep for a moment. She then stood up and faced the pink haired girl.

"Sorry about that, I must've fallen asleep hehe." Shizune explained as she gave a nervous smile. She was a bit embarrassed.

"Nah, It's alright, by the way here's the medical kit and the blood samples of the two guys." Sakura said as she handed the medical kit and the small tray containing the two blood samples.

"Thank you so much." Shizune smiled as she took the two objects that the blonde Hokage needed right now. She then entered the room immediately to give the two important things to the Hokage.

As the door closed right in front of her. Silence took over once again. Sakura sighed. Her job was done, and she was free to go home.

"Well I guess my work here is done." Sakura said. As the pink haired teen decided that it was time to go home. She yawned and stretched after a hard day's work. But before she could leave, Neji had called out to her.

"So you're going home already?" The Hyuuga teen asked.

Sakura nodded." Yeah, my shift is over and its probably night time already." She explained as she passed by the older Hyuuga.

Neji just stared at the pink haired teem. It happened so fast that she was now going home. He also noticed that they haven't been home yet, and the old man might be wondering...

As Neji then turned back towards the entrance to the room., He was suddenly met by her cousin's puzzled face.

"Hanabi?" Neji asked." Is everything alright?"

Hanabi, who was about to call her big cousin back inside the room, took noticed of the big black bruised covering the older teen's right eye.

The brown haired Hyuuga raised an eyebrow. Why was she giving him that look? It was strange case that he needed to get the bottom of this right away.

Hanabi then finally spoke." Is it just me or you have a really huge black eye right now?" The Hyuuga girl asked she stared at her big cousin's face.

"Uhmm, I don't wanna talk about it." Neji replied with embarrassment. He did not really want anyone to see his recent black eye. It was a forgettable moment for him. Getting punch in the face because of that stupid cockroach just made him shook his head and cover his face.

The older Hyuuga passed by the girl in silence as he entered the room.

Hanabi could only gave him a confused and puzzled look, before shaking her head.

"What did he gotten himself into this time?"

(Interview)

It often makes me wonder why my cousin always gets himself into weird situations. I mean where the heck did sustained that black eye of his? Don't tell me he gotten into a fight with someone.

(LATER ON)

"Well, shit. He looks like one of Naruto's shadow clones rather than an individual person. Take the scar away and they're practically twins."

It was her first comment by the time she had entered the room. She was greeted by two pairs of cerulean eyes and both voices calling out to her name with a "Baachan" at the end of it.

Tsunade, already irritated by being called that once today, felt her eye begin to twitch. "For crying out loud," she snapped.

"I always hated being called by that name, but I guess this time I will let it pass since I found them strangely adorable.

Neji and Hanabi found themselves witnessing what appears to be the most nerve-wrecking yet comical reunion they have ever seen in their lives so far. They could only stand there and watch the events unfold.

With her eyes still fixated on the siblings, She proceeded and first walked up to Boruto, and he gulped. Neji assumed that if Boruto was anything like Naruto, then he too will probably fear Tsunade's presence. Tsunade leaned closer to Boruto and inspected his face with an unreadable expression, her eyes digging deep into his. Suddenly, she pulled herself up and a large syringe appeared in her hand, surprising Boruto and making him jump back.

"Well, I almost believe you now," she told Sarada while walking to a cabinet situated next to the wall to their right and pulled out a rather huge syringe from it after a few moments of searching. "All that's left is the blood sample from him and I'll be on my way."

Boruto carefully raised both of his hands. "Hold up for a second, blood sample? And what's up with this syringe's size?!" He eyed the nightmarish tool nervously with a grin.

Tsunade had already taken the liberty of pulling up his sleeve and purifying the skin underneath it with alcohol. "Hey wait minute! What the hell are you doing Granny?!" Boruto tried to pull his arm away from her, his face losing color by the second.

"Pshh, don't tell me you're afraid of a little blood sample? It's just a small needle," Tsunade gave him an unimpressed look. "So stop being such a little brat and let me stab you with this thing already." A terrifying slightly sadistic smile crept on her face.

"Eh? Did you just say stab?!" Boruto was now trying harder to flee from the Hokage's grasp, though her iron grip did not even allow him to move from his seat. She kept him glued to his place, and his face kept losing color rapidly, now looking more like the white walls behind him other than their normal color.

"Oh come on, You even act like Naruto." Tsunade rolled her eyes. "Stop being a pansy and take the shot like a man."

Boruto wanted to yell at her but held his tongue. It seems shots were definitely something he didn't like. he opened his mouth as if he wanted to say something, but closed it again. inwardly, Neji agreed with his decision. Yelling at Tsunade might not be the smartest move while she's holding a larger than life needle in her hands.

"Pfft," Hanabi giggled at him. "Geez, why are you such a baby.s-

"Hey, you're crossing the line there already!" Boruto replied with annoyance yet his cheeks redden in embarrassment. Neji understood his reaction. Sure, she was his aunt, but to be called both a "baby" by an eleven-year-old is a low no man wanted to stoop to. He has some dignity to maintain as a male.

"Here," she gave him her hand. "You can hold my hand while she's taking the shot." Boruto looked at her surprised. and Neji felt a bit surprised as well. His cousin might be brash at times, but she can really show that compassion when needed and that her sister tended to do.

"What's the hold-up?" Tsunade was losing her patience. "Take her hand already and let me take your blood already!"

"Don't tell me your're vampire too and..…" Boruto murmured at the phrasing of the Hokage, but he took his young aunt's hand nonetheless. Hanabi smiled at him and nodded to Tsunade. Tsunade got closer to his arm, and he braced himself for the sting.

"Hey, knucklehead." Hanabi called him out again. He automatically turned to her, only to be slapped and squished in the face multiple times.

"Dammit!" Boruto touched his cheek with his hand. "What the hell was that for?!"

"Done!" Tsunade exclaimed in triumph, placing a bandaid on where she inserted the syringe.

"Man, That's it?" Boruto was surprised. "But I didn't even feel it,"

Hanabi looked smug. "why do you think I slapped you in the first place?"

"You did it so I won't feel the needle?" Boruto gaze warmed when he looked at her...

"And because it seemed like fun," Hanabi said, placing both hands behind her head as support and shrugged.

..the warm gaze suddenly lost his light became detached.

"Little Auntie," he mumbled with sulking.

"Baby," Hanabi teased once more.

"It was a real struggle for me, that syringe is a stuff of nightmares. No wonder nobody likes to get a shot or get their blood taken at any hospital.

-Boruto

"Alright, looks like my work is done here for now." Tsunade gave a sigh and explained. While she held the blood samples.

The second step was to compare and too see if the DNA matches to that of the two guys. She also explained that it might take 2-3 days for the results to come in. Although if it were to happen faster, then that would be a miracle.

She turned to leave, reaching the door before turning back. "I'll have someone bring two folding beds for you two to sleep on," she told Boruto and Sarada. "I'm guessing you wouldn't want to be far from your sister right now." She smiled at them before turning back and leaving.

It was already night time as Neji and Hanabi finally told the guys that it was time for them to go home. They bid farewell to the trio and promised that will come by and visit when they have the time.

"Hey, take care you guys." Neji said as he said good bye to the Uzumaki siblings for a while. The lavender haired girl gave her "Uncle" a big adorable hug thereafter while Boruto shook hands with his young Uncle.

Hanabi smiled as she gave the raven-haired girl a sister's hug. "Be strong Okay?" She said. She told the her that she will be back soon or maybe even tomorrow. The raven-haired girl smiled. She will always remember her advice from now on.

It was already night time when the two Hyuuga left the hospital. Each of them had wonderful memories of meeting the trio. As for Neji, He enjoyed spending time with the Uzumaki siblings, He felt like they were already his family. As for Hanabi, she also bothered to tell her big cousin the truth but decided that it wasn't the time now.

Boruto sat and rested his on his seat. There was only bed for one person, so he had no choice. He turned his eyes towards his raven-haired teammate who was already fast asleep and was laying on the only small bed that was reserved for a visitor or companion.

He was still waiting for the additional beds.

Boruto smiled. He thought that she deserved a good rest. She had been really exhausted from confronting the Hokage. SDhe did job well enough to convinced her. He then directed eyes to his little sister who was sound asleep in her bed. It was only a matter of time before she will get discharge from the hospital.

The blonde then turned his thoughts about starting a new life in this village, first they're gonna a house or place to stay in, second a job to sustain a stable life and lastly, they will have to cooperate with Lady Hokage for further instructions once the results of DNA test were out.

Right now, there was a possibility for them to be inducted on a team. They were gonna do missions just like the old days.

Boruto sighed, he was starting to get sleepy. He felt that his consciousness was starting to fade away. As he closed his eyes, his last thoughts were.

"I'm still a Shinobi no matter what."

  Everytime  I saw my parents both happy ... and no problem  each other I'm so blessed because that my parent's are perfect together :)  sinasabi ko sa self ko I hope  someday may taong magpapasaya sa akin like my dhad and mom verry strong lover . .. yun ang pinakamasayang memories with my parents noong  nabubuhay pa ang parents ko  10 years old  pa ako noon yung nangyayari Ang accident  masaya  pa kami kumakanta pa kami ng  Britney spear  Yung time palapit na   ang car accident namin sinabihan ako ni mom and dad my princess don't worry  I protect you im crying because my mom sing with me para di ako matakot my Mom cover here body for me she said don't worry my baby  it's okay iyak ng iyak ako noon  my mom hug me tights and my dhad   naghanap ng paraan para di matuloy ang pagbangga di parin ito nakayanan mom and dad hawak kamay para di kami maghihiwalay..   pumunta sana kami  sa birthday ng uncle  jhon ko para celebrate ang kanyang ika 50years old   doon na ang ng yari ang lahat  car accident ..... narinig ko na lang noon yung tunog ng sasakyan at iyakan at narinig ko nalang noon patay na ang dalawa itong bata buhay pa ... gusto ko sana  tumayo pero I can't stand to see may parents sabi nila fifthy fifthy na daw ang life ko  dahil sa mga sugat at parang dami daw dugo wala sa akin... dinala ako sa hospital comatose 2 months but after 2month comatose I'm awake  hinahanap ko sila mom and dad sinabi nila uncle don't worry Shane  I'm here with you and your auntie ,cousin  to our members family are support for you ..  calmed down shine your parents are both died sorry cannot survive because of fractured ..... sa sinabi ni uncle  di talaga ako naniniwala na wala na sila mom and dad ko . I'm always crying  I'm always called my parents but nothing para wla na talaga akong energy ...ang uncle ko Naman naawa sya sa akin pakiusapan nlang ang doctor enject nlang nya ang patulog para  makapahinga ako..
1moths later  hanggat na tanggap ko na ang lahat nangyayari sa parents ko so I'm discharge na ako sa hospital. I'm going to normal but not like before I'm happy always when my both parents are alive :)


then after a year's I'm 19 years old  pinag aaral nila ako ni uncle jhon sa sikat na school the university of fashion designer  malapit na ako maggraduate bilang isang fashion designer just dream my mom and dad to become professional  fashion designer  internship is coming I can't wait for my new experience    and I will find the company related to my course fashion designer :)  i search the company wow I'm so lucky may vecant ang company related to my course  now  send my resume for my internship hope I wish  matanggap ako for may internship para makapagraduate ako .. matutupad na talaga ang wish nila mom and dhad  for become professional fashion designer :)   Mom dad I know  nandyan kayo sa taas kasama ni papa GOD  please guide me for my internship sila uncle concerned for me parang anak nila ako ...  dahil nag aasawa na  anak nila sa abroad so kami nalang tattlo dito sa house nila,,,.  ang house namin sa village ay  Hindi parin nagbabago sabi nila uncle but hindi daw ako pumunta Doon ? sabi ko Kay uncle  mmmh   uncle I'm not sure kung ready pa ako pumunta Doon because of memories of my parents!!! uncle said  :: if you want visit there tell me samahan ka namin  ng auntie mo !!?   Me: ok uncle :) sila lang don  palage pumupunta  sa house namin every weekend ako naman dito lang sa house nila because I'm not ready to see my all memories there  so I'm decide still here to wait my results for my internship  ( minutes later ) may nagsend  sa email ko isang big company related to my course  ohh my this is my opportunity  tiningnan ko ang loptop ko at may nagsend shine lee congratulations tomorrow is your   interview at 9:00 am :) yehey I'm so excited napasigaw ako ng  lakas sa saya pero sila uncle and auntie  reaction hey but ganyan ka shine what wrong with you ?
