Wolf was similar to me in many ways. Although his playstyle was brutal, his personality was very charismatic. You could say that he was literally a wolf in sheep's clothing, hence his nickname "wolf". Off the battlefield, he was easily one of my closest friends in the Esports space. Since many top Esports players decide to join clans, he was one of the few people that I met that followed my way of thinking. His reasoning for doing so was unknown, however.

"Yeah. I'm looking forward to it. You remember the training room?" I said, grabbing the drink from the AI.

We began to drink together. Wolf and I was invited to play in the closed beta when it was released. The beta was limited to a target practice room for 2 weeks so that we could get a feel of the game. Since we were the ones who were going to bring exposure to their finished game, they gave us special benefits for beta testing. One of those benefits was access to the Dev lounge. According to the developers, players who have access to the dev lounge can get high-end high rise apartments for free. Players also enjoyed a steep discount on the high-end homes in the game. This made the beta-testers even more popular than they already were before, with people lining up in order to gain access to it. Wolf and I decided to head over there to chat with one of the developers. We had a scheduled meeting with the president before the game launched.

As we switched over to the private developer lounge, we could see that 2 armed men were waiting for us. 

"Wolf! Titan! Right on time! Please follow us to the interview room!" they said, gesturing us to follow.

We walked through the lounge to the interview room, where the head of Aprico Industries greeted us.

"Hello Titan, Wolf. You already know who I am so let's get straight to business. I want you two to work together in this war game. You may not like teaming up but out of respect to you both, I would suggest you form a mini-clan. This is...not your usual game."

As he uttered those words, my broadcast stream went down, along with the entire Aprico TV site. By the timing of the shutdown, I knew that something was wrong.

"What are you doing?! The game is going to launch in 5 minutes!" I said, yelling.

"Look. I have to confess. This isn't your average war game. At Aprico, we pride ourselves on making the most realistic game possible. After 10 continuous years of innovation, we have hit a wall. We could make the graphics more realistic but we've always done that. We can make the system more efficient but that's already been done. We can make even bigger worlds but we've already done so much. We were legitimately stumped as to what we could do in order to bring the technology of VR to the next century. And then, like a perfect wave, it finally hit us!" he said, standing up from his chair.

"If we can't improve the system of the game any further, then the only thing to do is to improve the human itself, right? Thus, as of this moment, all 8.78 million players who are currently logged in will not be allowed to log off until they reach the Top 100 daily rankings."

"You fucking prick! What did you do?" Wolf said, standing up from his chair.

Wolf ran over and tried to punch the president but his fist phased through. It was a hologram after all.

"I hope to see you too at the top of the leaderboards again. See you in the game!" he said, as the hologram slowly faded away. 

As the clock struck noon, Wolf and I were immediately transported to the city center of Aprico Online. The president's message, that the players were trapped in the game, was playing on the realistic skyscrapers that were next to us. On one of the skyscrapers, was the blank rankings for the top 100 clans in the game along with the top 100 individual players. As people began to panic and freak out, I stayed calm and replayed the most important part of the message in my head repeatedly.

Cole quivered as he got up from the bed, blood
pumped in his heart abnormal at a speed faster
than that of Usain Bolt. The first time he ever
had a nightmare was in his University days,
when a dreaded cult group was after his life
because of a girl that was in love with him.
This time around, he dreamt that he was being
given a hot chase by the Rivers State
Governor's body guards. He outsmarted them
and hid in an uncompleted building where he
slept off for hours, only for him to open his eyes
and find several guns pointed at him by a group
of policemen.
He glanced at Benny who was sleeping
peacefully on the left side of the bed despite
the hot condition of the room. He took off his
wet shirt and proceeded out of the room bare
chested, using the shirt to fan himself. He first
headed into the kitchen to quench his thirst
after which he proceeded out of the house with
an extra cup of water to seek fresh air in the
compound.
He got a little surprised when he met the door
unlocked but he shook off his fears, his mind
suggesting to him that Tarasha must be the one
outside
He was right! There in the middle of the
compound was a female figure lying flat on the
long bench that used to be at the verandah, she
seemed to be busy with something and didn't
notice his presence. He tiptoed carefully
towards her, trying his possible best not to
announce his presence.
He stopped halfway when he saw her insert a
magazine into the revolver she was playing with,
she seemed to also halt with his movement. He
was contemplating whether to turn back or not
when his name was called.
'Cole' he quivered at the sound of his name, still
on the same spot, he watched her unload the
gun before he proceeded further.
She rose from her sleeping position and sat up,
smiling at Cole who stared at her funnily.
'Why were you scared?' She asked mockingly.
'You loaded your gun like you wanted to aim at
something, I was scared that you didn't know I
was the one coming' he answered, feeling
slightly embarrassed.
'I knew it was you and I wasn't planning to
shoot' she collected the cup of water from him
and drank slowly.
Cole watched her taking in the water, like a kid
who was already dying of thirst. He had the
opportunity to notice her very young face, she
looked like an innocent girl in her early twenties.
Her face was the youngest he had ever seen
involved in the assassination business, several
of her mates he has seen involving themselves
in crime only participated in petty robbery and
as informants.
'Cole' she startled him, his eyes was still
hovering round her body in awe.
'Boss' he called back, scratching his head as he
looked away.
'Why are you staring at me like that?' She
asked.
'No, nothing. I was just wondering what you
were doing outside here'
'What else should I be doing? I was sleeping'
she answered.
'Sleeping? How? I saw you awake when I came
out of the house'
'You woke me up, I was asleep before you came
out' she insisted.
'Asleep? How?' He looked bewildered. 'No one
can sleep here with all the mosquitoes around,'
'Forget about me Cole, you should tell me why
you are awake' she looked sternly at his face.
'I couldn't sleep, my mind has been occupied
with all we did yesterday' Cole explained his
woe. 'I can't seem to figure out how we'll be
able to accomplish our task here'
'That's for me to worry about. I give the plan,
all you need to do is to follow'
He looked at her face in an awkward manner as
if to ask why she way arrogant, or why she
thought she knew everything.
'Young girl like you, who made you a devil? I
could kill you now if I want to' He said in his
mind.
'The greatest mistake you'll ever make is
dealing with me like the ordinary person my
face projects' she cautioned immediately add if
she heard his thoughts. 'You may lose your life
the next time you think that way'
'Hu..uh' he stammered and got up shakily from
the bench.
'Come on, go inside now' she said in a
command tone. Flinging the cup away, she
returned to her former position on the bench.
Cole hurriedly returned into the house, scared to
look back until he entered and closed the door.
He paused to think for a while leaning his back
on the door, the sound of his heartbeat echoed
in his ears.
Maybe she was more than who he thought she
was. She is probably an adult hiding under a
younger body or a young girl endowed with
diabolical powers.
He tried to calm himself and waved off his
thoughts as ridiculous, she wasn't a super
human, she was only good at playing smart with
their emotions. He decided to put up a bold
response if there was a next time, why should
he be scared of her anyway? He had worked
with several make assassins and none made his
heart filled with fear like this.
'Go and sleep Cole, we have a lot to do
tomorrow' her voice jerked him into action
again, he proceeded to his room with no further
delay

Tarasha was already thinking of different
possible plans for their new task. Earlier that
day when she and Cole worked to gather
information about the Governor on the internet,
they also visited his twitter profile and studied
several tweets mentioning his handle and those
including his name in the text. Out of the
several hundreds of tweets that had his handle
mentioned, three got Tarasha's attention.
One was from the Rivers State Commissioner of
works and transport, reporting the progress of a
bridge project. The other was from a popular
artiste who displayed his invitation to a dinner
night with the governor.
The last one was from a news reporting media,
Desert Reporters. They tweeted one of their
headlines which talked about an Engineering
student of the Port Harcourt University who had
just successfully manufactured a small airplane
singlehandedly. The tweet read "Governor of
Rivers State, Kelechi Edwin commends
engineering student John @Johnnonexistent
who manufactured an air plane, plans to visit
on…"
With the tweet as a lead, Tarasha visited the
student's twitter profile and gathered more
information about the record breaking feat
achieved. She got to know what kind of airplane
it was and specifications of the size, she also
found out that the plane had been tested by
several professors of the University and experts
from outside the country already. The video of
the several test run was recorded and uploaded
on YouTube and had since attracted so many
views from in and outside the country.
Governor Kelechi Edwin and the country's
minister of aviation were to visit and have a
special flight in the plane on the eighteenth day
of the month.

now' James said to secretary who scrolled
down the list hurriedly. He had been standing
beside her for minutes, watching while she
logged in to the School Administrative portal to
get a list of all the pharmacy students in thee
school.
Officer Segun and Dr. Hammed also came to
the school with him. They had gone to see the
Vice chancellor of the school who then
redirected them to the pharmacy department
and instructed the department's secretary to
show them a list of the pharmacy students in
their database.
'That's 200 level not 300' she replied him
without bothering to obey his order
'Let's see it' he insisted stubbornly
She scrolled up and halted where she saw the
name, 'this is Samantha David, isn't it Osman
you're looking for?'
'Can we see her profile?' he requested
She clicked on the name and the student's
profile appeared. Samantha David was in 200
level, eighteen years of age and had the matric
number 745666.
'Is this the girl?' James asked, turning to face
the doctor.
Doctor Hammed stood up from the sofa where
he and Segun was seated and walked to the
table to get a clearer view of the passport
photograph displayed on the profile, 'No, not this
one. Samantha Osman is not as dark as this'
'Please, let's continue' James pleaded with the
secretary.
The other Samantha that was found after
scrolling the whole list was a 400 level student
which Dr. Hammed responded negative to.
James was forced to ask the secretary to
profile of all the 300 level female students but
none was identified as the doctor to be
Samantha Osman.
'We don't have any Samantha Osman in our
department' the secretary stated for the second
time.
'But she was wearing the school ID card' James
talked back.
'Maybe she was a student of another
department' she replied. 'You should check
medicine or nursing'
'No, she said she was a pharmacy student' Dr.
Hammed mentioned each word one after the
other.
'I think it's clear now' James continued after
taking a deep breath, 'that girl was on a mission
and that mission was to get some information
for the killers'
'She could be a student studying another
course' Segun who had been silent began, 'I
believe that if we get a database of all the
students, we can fish out every Samantha
Osman we find or better still every girl named
Samantha in the school'
'No!' the secretary exclaimed. 'Who's gonna go
through that herculean task? Do you know how
many students the school has?'
'It doesn't matter how herculean the task is'
James countered. 'She was with the school's ID
card and that confirms that the suspect is your
student'
'How are you sure it was our ID card?' she
queried. 'Did any of you check it? How did you
know it wasn't fake?'
Her question was answered with silence; the
officers stared at each other and at the doctor,
each expecting one to come up with a counter
opinion.
James gave in, 'you're right, it may be fake but
you still have to help us confirm it is'
'Or better still, let us have access to the
database, we'll check it ourselves' Segun
suggested.
'Better!' The secretary got up from her seat ,
adjusting her skirt. 'I can't help you with that,
you have to return to the VC'

sit closely beside him. 'They've got an interview
with him this Wednesday'
'Where's the venue of the interview' she asked
expecting no reply as she saw the details in the
message for herself. 'I think we can make use

'How? How do we go about it?'
'We'll be the ones to interview him' she
answered, offering him chips which he refused
politely. 'Now, you have to monitor the two
accounts closely. Send the student a message
from the desert reporters' account'
'What message?' he asked, frowning.

side, she faced him. 'Send him a message,
change the time and venue of the interview'
'I thought you said you were the Boss ' he
mumbled like a kid. 'You said the thinking and
planning was yours and we should only obey

He gave her puzzled look, 'but they're gonna
know that their account was hacked when they

She returned his look with an awkward one,
'delete the message once it is delivered, then
monitor until he replies'

Kang Oh and Sephiro picked a remote table in the 1st floor bar and sat down without breaking their gaze on one another.

"My real ID isn't Oga, the one who cleared the Fight Against 100 Men, but Kang Oh.  It's nice to meet you, Mr. Sephiro," Kang Oh said whilst smiling.

"Ahem."

Sephiro sat across from Kang Oh, his expression uncomfortable.

He had come because Kang Oh had left him little choice, so it was only natural that this meeting would make him uncomfortable.

"It's an honor to see the Wind Archer, the owner of the Lasselpino Bow, in person," Kang Oh said and stared at the bow that Sephiro had placed on the table.

A bow in the shape of a silver wing. Even at first glance, the Lasselpino Bow was a work of art. 

"Ahem."

Sephiro pulled the bow towards himself and remained uncomfortable.

If he could go into the past, then he would go back and tie his mouth shut during that interview.

'This damn mouth of mine.'

Ever since his school days, Sephiro had trouble keeping his mouth shut, which got him into a lot of trouble.

But like the saying went 'old habits die hard', he couldn't fix that old habit of his.

"You definitely said in an interview that you'd give whoever cleared the Fight Against 100 Men whatever they wanted," Kang Oh said.

He was essentially saying, 'Take responsibility!'. 

"...I did."

Sephiro furrowed his brow, but he had to accept reality.

Since there was indeed footage of him saying that.

If he didn't keep his word, it would become a lie. No, Kang Oh would make him into a liar.

'I must be crazy!'

Back then, Sephiro was sure that no one would be able to clear the Fight Against 100 Men.

However, not only did someone manage to clear it, but that someone was threatening him and was also an asshole!

"That footage from your interview showed up in the feature broadcast again."

Kang Oh drove the nail in.

Sephiro weakly nodded his head.

"Good. I don't want much. Please just give me one thing."

Sephiro's eyes shook. He knew what he was going to ask for.

'Please, just not that!'

Sephiro clutched the Lasselpino Bow and stared at Kang Oh's lips.

"The Lasselpino Bow."

Sephiro gripped the hand rests of his chair, as he felt that dizzying feeling of the ground falling out from beneath him. 

The Lasselpino Bow was no ordinary bow! It was an SS-rank weapon. In other words, it was the best possible weapon!

Moreover, it was his symbol as the Wind Archer.

"Please, anything but that!" Sephiro hugged the bow and yelled.

"Hmm. Then, could you pay me enough gold to cover that bow?"

"How much?"

"Let's say... about 20,000 gold?"

"Heok!"

Sephiro gaped. 20,000 gold was equivalent to 200 million won ($200,000 USD). 

Even if he scraped up everything he had, he still only had 5,000 gold.

He couldn't pay that amount, even if he got a loan from the Adventurer Guild.

Even a rat will bite a cat if they're pushed into a corner. To Kang Oh, the worst thing would be if Sephiro got desperate.

Kang Oh clapped his hands.

"Let's do this."

"What?'

"To be honest, it feels wrong to take the Lasselpino Bow, which is like your symbol, and the same goes for your gold as well."

In response, Sephiro's face brightened with hope.

"Then?"

"Please help me 10 times for free."

"Alright."

Sephiro suddenly grabbed his hand. It was as if he was grabbing a rope from heaven itself.

"Please sign this contract."

Kang Oh passed him the previously prepared Sabra's Contract.

The first line was that Sephiro would help Kang Oh 10 times.

Kang Oh pointed to where Sephiro's name was written. Sephiro, worried that Kang Oh might change his mind, wanted to sign the contract as quickly as possible.

"Please read the contents first."

"I understand."

Sephiro began thoroughly reading the contract.

"T-This is... This is a slave contract."

Sephiro's voice shook.

"What do you mean 'slave contract'. It's just a contract for volunteer work," Kang Oh smiled and said.

"Where in the world would you call this volunteer work!?"

Sephiro shoved the contract towards Kang Oh.

Kang Oh glanced at the contract.

'The latter's primary concern is to follow the orders of the former to the letter.'

Darion had been useless, had complained a lot, and often went on strike. Kang Oh had learned much from his previous mercenary contract with him, so he'd created a new slave contract.

'Above all, everything that we find or any quest rewards are mine! And when I get help, I can receive 'financial' help as well!'

Punishment for violating the terms of the contract were written as well. Sephiro would have to give him the Lasselpino Bow!

In other words, this contract was completely unfair; Kang Oh was overusing his power.

"T-This is too unfair," Sephiro said, his voice trembling.

"Then just sign the contract and rip it up. If it's unfair, then I'll be judged and punished, won't I?"

"Knowing that you still made this contract..."

Kang Oh interrupted him.

"However! I'll go to TGN right then and there. And since I know PD Park Jin Cheol quite well, I can ask him to put up the fact that you lied on a gaming news channel," Kang Oh firmly said.

"T-That..."

"It's hard to climb to the top, but falling is easy. And it's only 10 times. 10."

Kang Oh stressed the word, 'only'.

'Alright, let's just get through those 10 times.'

Ultimately, Sephiro signed the contract.

The contract split into two; one for Kang Oh and one for Sephiro.

To Sephiro, it looked like the devil himself was mocking him.

"I'm not going to," Sephiro yelled back sharply

"Then please help me right away. I'll tell you the details on the way."

Kang Oh left the inn with Sephiro right on his tail.

"You need to help me obtain 200 Agath Crystals, and 1 Agath Leader Crystal," Kang Oh said whilst walking.

"Fine, I'll do my best."

Contrary to his statement, Sephiro's voice clearly implied that he would do the exact opposite.

Then, Kang Oh took out the contract.

"Shall I rip this myself?"

"Excuse me?" 

Sephiro's eyes widened in astonishment. 'Why would you rip it yourself!?'.

"And then I'll go to a broadcasting station and smear your reputation."

"Ahem. You mentioned Agaths, right?"

Sephiro avoided Kang Oh's gaze and changed the subject.

"Yes."

"The Thunderbirds of Kaistan Canyon... I'll need a lot of steel arrows."

Agaths spewed lightning everywhere.

Obviously, wooden arrows would burn, so steel arrows were the superior option.

Him stating that he needed lots of steel arrows implied that he would do his best.

"Alright. Please stay that way from now on."

"Urgh."

"Let's meet up at the transport gate in 10 minutes. Please come after you've prepared everything you need."

"I understand."

Sephiro disappeared within the crowd.

Kang Oh entered an alleyway.

"Summon Eder."

"Dude you're driving to the office right?" he asked with a hint is hesitation in his voice.

"Yeah of course why??? Sorry I'm late.... I lost track of time..." I replied.

"No worries see you then dude." He said.

"No worries later bro." I replied before he hang up the call.

'Hmmm I wonder what's going ..... What's with all the cloak and dagger and asking me to come into the office...

Eventually arriving at the office building parking my car and making my way through security, I made my way to the top floor where his office located.

"Morning Mr. Phu, what brings you to Jays office this morning?" Emma said her face lighting up with a smile.

"You don't have any idea either?... I was hoping you'd give me a heads up. I said to her with a smile.

"All I know is Jay entered this morning, with two other gentleman, no idea who they are though, never seen them before." She informed me
 
"Ohhh.... okay... thanks for the heads up." I smiled at her.

"Anytime" she replied smiling and began getting back to her work.

Entering into the offer, there were two gentlemen talking to Jay exactly what Emma informed me. Jays face looked a little distraught. Silently listening to the two gentleman nodding occasionally.

His eyes met mine, "Dude come in take a seat he said pointing at the seat next to him, Officers this is Paul.
'Detectives? What do detectives want to do with me???....."Two Caucasian gentleman dressed in normal clothing turned to me. "Hi I'm detective Johnson and this is my partner detective Thomas.

"Hello I'm Paul. Mind if I ask what is going on?" I asked politely.

"Sorry for ambushing you like this, we just came to ask a few questions." Thomas asked me.

I nodded and took a seat, Jay also taking a seat beside me. "Okay....." I responded.

"Well we came to tell you the grim news that Emilia was found dead at her apartment early late last night" Thomson informed me of the grim news.

I sat back in disbelief.... "This can't be.... this must be some kind sick joke?" I said looking at Jay.

"Dude.... it a true..... The story check out." Jay replied with a frown.

My head starting whirling out of control, unable to comprehend the news they just fed me. "This can't be, I have a miss call and a message from her yesterday!" I said trying to refute their story.

"I know this is a tough time for you, but that is why we are here....." Johnson said speaking in a calm and relaxed voice.

"After questioning her husband and Family members some of them has said that you might have had some involvement.

"Me? What..... That can't be...I haven't seen or spoken to her for over 5 years." I said shocked at the accusation.

"Judging by your reaction from the new, we believe you have absolutely no involvement." Johnson added.

"Yes but we will still need to take you in for questioning and a statement, if it's okay for you. "Thomas asked.

"Yeah sure .... Anything." I answered standing up ready to go with them.

"Dude I'll call Kan." He said as we began to leave his office.

"No need.... "I said walking out.

Walking out with the two detectives Emma's looked on in confusion "Mr. Phu what's going on?" She asked extremely worried for me. Entering the lift we began descending to the ground floor.

My mind was in total shock from disbelief, all I could think about was the call and message I ignored. Running through countless scenarios in my head. Maybe if I just responded I might have prevented all this.....

"Mr…. Phu…. This way." Johnson said leading me through the car park.

Getting into the back seat of the car, we made our way back to the station. "Can you tell me what her cause of death was?" I asked quietly.

"We'll inform you of the details when we get back to the station." Johnson replied, concentrating on the driving.

Arriving at the station, I exited the car quietly and began the process of signing myself in and follow the two detectives into a room with a large desk and four chairs.

"Please Mr. Phu take a seat." Johnson said pointing at a seat and taking the other one opposite to me.

"Would you like a drink?" Johnson offered.

"Okay….. Water or a cola please…." I requested.

Johnson gave Thomas a firm nod, which Thomas returned and exited the room. Johnson began reading me my rights, and some other technical jargon I didn't understand and asking me to sign something which I obliged.

"Now let's get the interview started.

"Would u kindly state your name, age and address please." He asked.

After finishing answering his question his partner came with if a bottle of water and a bottle of cola with a large file under his armpit.

"Here u go Mr. Phu please make yourself comfortable." Tomas said taking a seat beside his partner passing to him he file.

"So Paul please explain to me your relationship with Emilia." Johnson asked flicking through the file.

"Well….. We dated for about a month but broke up for reasons, before that we were on and off friends for hmm…. 8 maybe 9 years….. and then we stopped all contact at the end of the same year we broke up.. I think 2015.

"Ahhh I see…. and prior to yesterday there has been no contact from either of you?" He carried on question.

"No…. she blocked me her phone, and I have no social media." I answered

"Okay so from what I understand she also tried to contact you yesterday?" He asked.

"Yes but I didn't pick up or reply to her message." I answered.

"May I ask why?" He probed further.
"Because at the time I was on a date with an old friend." I replied.

"And she can vouch for you?" He asked.

"Yeah….. We spent the whole night together I answered.

"Would you mind if we could have her number so we can verify your story?" He requested.

"Sure … do you want it now?" I asked.

"Yeah sure…. I'll jot it down" He said.

Opening my phone proceeded by giving them Jade's number.

"Just out of curiosity, do u know when or who she got married to?" He asked further.

"Nope…. Like I said we cut all contact, I'm not friends with her friends groups either, and the only acquaintance we have in common is Jay and he doesn't ever talk about her to me." I answered him.

"Well…. Mr. Phu, I think that concludes our interview." Johnson informed me.

"Was that it?" I asked.

"Yeah… providing Jade vouches for your location last night, I can't really see any motive or any involvement with her death." Johnson answered.

"Could u tell me how she died?" I requested.

"Sorry I'm not allowed to reveal that information." He replied.

"I understand... can I go?" I asked frowning.

"Yeah sure… let's get you signed out and stuff" Johnson said standing up and leading the way.

It took Paul almost 5 years to move on from his lost love Emilia. During his first date with a old friend he managed to reconnect with, he randomly received a call from Emilia for the first time, since she requested him to leave her alone. Not wanting to be rude and remembering that face of disgust when they last met, decided to ignore the call.
The next morning Paul awoke to a inbox full of messages and a voicemail from his best mate informing him that Emilia committed suicide.
Torn with guilt over that fateful night, he tossed a coin into a wishing well, wishing that he could prevent her suicide, at that moment his life came to an abrupt end.
Paul awoke face to face with a Demon God who goes by the name Mephisto offering him the chance to fulfill his wish but at a cost!

The sun shines bright once more. Why must I wake up this early? I scratch my eyes to help me get a sense that it is morning once more. As I was about to rise from the bed, my lover throws his arms upon me once more. It was as if he did not want me to leave the bed. Much to my annoyance, I throw his arms back to him. I pick up the clothes we have scattered from last night. 

"Early bird, I see," my lover says hazily. "Come to bed. It is still early."

I can only give a brief smile. "I can't," I say as I buttoned up my blouse. "I have an interview later. I can't forever be an assistant to some CEO at whatever company. I need to use my skills. What use will my college degree be if I don't find a job that suits me?"

I know he is annoyed by my words, but it is true. I don't want to be a secretary forever. I want to do something meaningful with my finance degree. But, here we go again. Back to the interviews. I can only let out a sigh as I think things through. Suddenly, he embraces me from behind. He feels me from my chest and down below.

"Ah, don't think too much, Felicia," he says as he kisses my cheek down to my neck. "You can do it."

I break away from his kisses and look at him in the eye. I can't say whether what he says is true. Sometimes he speaks much lies that I don't even know anymore. "Do you think I should leave that damned company?"

He lets go of his embrace and puts on his pants. "You can leave," he says frankly. "You can also not leave. That's your world, Felicia. You are forever entwined with the world of the elite. That is one thing you can never escape." 

All I can do is laugh at his honesty. Yes, he is right. I cannot escape. This has been all my life. I've been involved with the elite, the children of the elite, the wives of the elite. All in all, it drains me. Maybe if I just do some analyst work I can escape this damned world. 

I see him take himself to the bathroom. He always takes a dump in the morning before getting ready. As I comb my hair, I notice something vibrating on my table. I see an unknown number calling me. As I was just about to pick it up, the call ends with a missed call. I have already missed nine of them. I began pulling up the dial and call up, when suddenly, a message from the caller appears on the banner. 

"Come to me. I need you. Something happened – Guevarra."

Guevarra. Guevarra. One of the names from my past. I feel my palms sweat that I accidentally let go of my phone. My legs felt like giving up that all I can do is just sit on my bed.

Guevarra. Jonathan Elian Guevarra. What do they need? Can't they let me live my life in peace? Why can't they understand that I want nothing to do with them. I had enough of this. With all the fire burning inside me, I throw the alarm clock beside me.

Fuck it! They're here again.

Carlos, who has been in the bathroom for a long time, suddenly gets out and joins me. "Felicia, what happened?"

He knows. All it takes is just a look in my eye. I rarely get angry. My eyes convey all the fire I have right now. Still, he chose not to say a word. 

"They're back, Carlos," I say grimly. "Our pasts have returned. They need me again."




I go to the hospital Guevarra sent me in a text – Hospital de Santo Domingo. It's not that far from my home, but at this rate, it looks like I will not able to make it for my interview. If I know something, it is that my interview will lead to nowhere anyway. The moment they called me, my interview is already cancelled. They will do everything to get my attention.

As I get out of the taxi in front of the hospital, I can already see Guevarra waiting outside. He smiles briefly, but with little sincerity. I can only return the emotion he gave. None of us are glad to see each other.

"What is this, Guevarra?" I ask instantly. "Why intrude my life again?" 

"Nice to see you again, Felicia," he says sarcastically. "Is that how you great an old friend after not seeing him for years?"

"We are not friends, Guevarra," I say frankly. "Now, what has happened. 

He sighs. I can see his temples aching with whatever the hell had happened. "Come," he beckons for me to follow him. "Come so that you may see."

We walked inside the hospital. I know this one. The hospital for the elite. It is always like that. The elite that can buy the organs of others so that they may continue their own lives and end another's. Such traitors to society. They only think about themselves. If you have the cheque, you can buy the entire world. This is why I know what the disheveled men in the halls have been through. They are victims of organ harvesting (or as the elite would call, organ trade). Fuck it. Even the doctors only care about the dollar signs at each treatment.

Silence fill the atmosphere of Guevarra and I. In the years that I have not seen him, time got the best of him. I see lines filling up his face. His high cheeks droop out of stress. For a handsome lawyer that won hundreds of cases, I can tell that the years have not been kind to him.

As we walk, I can already see the sadness filling up his eyes. Why cry now? But then, I look around the halls. It seems that everyone is crying around here. I see different circles of relatives crying amongst themselves. Then, at the end of the hall, I see a couple crying – the Romulos. It got me thinking. What does this part of the hospital have?

As we enter a room, I can already feel the chills going up my spine. Rows of cadavers can be seen. They are all covered with a white cloth and a toe tag at each of them. I have seen these many times. I'm not even the least bit shock with what the elite can do. "Just kill every last one of them. That's the easy way to go."

Suddenly, Guevarra leads me to a body at the end of the room. Though I have seen this before, I feel a sudden pang of fear for what he may ask me to do.

"Look at this," Guevarra says as he points to the cadaver in front of us.

I don't know what message he wants to convey, but I have no choice. I carefully lift up the cloth from this dead person. As I see the face of the cadaver, reflex gets the best of me. I let go of the cloth and look away.

Dear God? What have I seen?

"Is that – "

"Yes," he replies instantly. "This is Christine. She died in a car accident early midnight. It is said that it happened during the rain."

I can't erase Christine's dead face from my mind. Her cream-like skin is becoming blue due to the loss of life. I can see a wound from her head as if liters of blood poured out of it. Dear God!

I can feel myself shaking and disturbed. I cannot even manage to head for the door and leave this room. When I finally got out, I fall on my knees to save myself from fainting. I want to cry, but there is no sadness within me. I can only feel rage. Why die right now, Christine? Why? We have many problems left unsettled. What can we do now?

Suddenly, I feel Guevarra join me in my thinking. 

I round on him. "Why must you shove her corpse before my eyes?" 

"I don't know how to bring you here, Felicia," he says carefully. "Though I want to mourn, I have a job to do."

"And what is this 'job,' Nathan? Why can't you just call me at phone and tell me everything? Why can't you give me a chance to mourn? You might have given me some time to ready myself for her corpse."

"Felicia, you know I am Christine's lawyer. Now, as her lawyer, it is my job to settle the inheritance of her wealth. I need to give her wealth to the rightful heir."

"Oh, that's easy," I round on him again. "Just give it to her sister and parents."

"It is logical and lawful choice, but that is not going to happen."

My eyebrows meet as I wonder what he meant. Why can't her wealth go to her family? Then, I see him taking out a folded paper from his suit pocket.

"Read it," he says as he hands the paper.

I carefully unveil the paper. At first, I can't understand. It is in cursive. But then, as I squint my eyes, I understand the contents of the paper. 

"I hereby will all my estates, assets, and fortunes to my beloved husband and my beloved son. This will shall be legally binding with my two maids as my witnesses. My lawyer, Attorney Jonathan Elian Guevarra and my dear friend, Felicia del Mundo shall preside over the allocation of my wealth to my rightful heirs. Written and signed on the 28th day of October in the year of our Lord 2017."

And at the end, there are the signatures of her witnesses and her own.

I could almost crumple the paper, but I can't. I hand over the paper back to Guevarra. "Is this legally binding? And, where did you find this?"

      When emcee called out names of all actors one by one all went on stage.
        "Hi I am Mi ran… I am playing main lead cha woo jung in drama"
        "Hi I am Dong Chang… I am playing main lead kim young suk"
          "Hi I am Zhao zhan and I am playing main lead jang hyak"
         Reporter "This is a brand new combination of the cast… Chang you and Mi ran never worked together…how do you feel?"
   Chang "I am really thankful to Mi ran that she said yes to our drama. She was really busy but she managed to get time for our drama… I think there is lot to learn from her."
      Reporter turned to Mi ran "how do you feel working with countries best actor?"
        Mi ran "Actually I have met Chang numerous times in past but it was always short meet. At that time also I felt he is different from any other celebrity and now I got really golden chance to work with him. I am really happy about it" 
       Reporter "Zhao Zhan you have worked with Mi ran many times but this is the first time Chang and you are working together… what do you feel about it?"
       Zhao Zhan "This is for first time we are working together…it's great if you get chance to work with other good artist."
     Reporter "Why did you decided to produce this drama? What capture your heart? Do you feel you can connect to the character?"
      Chang "Actually when I first time heard the storyline I was all no for this drama… but director made me understand the character deeply… and I am nothing like this character at all so I thought to take the challenge. This will be my first time when i am taking a negative role."
      Reporter "So you were totally against it. Then this is really a miracle because I have heard so many stories about your stubbornness. People says that it is impossible to get you agree for the thing which you don't want to do…"
    Chang "Yes… you heard it correctly… But for the first time I met a person who is more stubborn than me… Director Ji ah and producer made me go through whole script again and again and rest you know."
      Reporter "How about you Zhao Zhan…? How did you find your character interesting?"
    Zhao Zhan "Actually the character I played in drama is playing two roles at a time… he is heir of a big empire in country but to pursue his music carrier he run away from his home and stays as Mi ran's place as her flatmate where he tell her that he from very poor family. When he falls in love with her, he is in constant dilemma to tell her truth or not…when she get to know she doesn't forgive him and next his family get against his love for her, what happen next is interesting story"
      Reporter "Wow… that's interesting one…"
      While interviews were going on Sun's phone beeps and she looked in her phone… It was a reminder to take Ji ah out of interview. Chang kept Ji ah away from every event which will circulate on social media platforms. Whole time his eyes were looking at the beautiful girl who was still going through some paperwork in front chair of stage and listening to their interviews.
       Sun "Ji ah… I know it now its your turn for questions but I think let Chang sir handle it for a while…you need to take this call" When Sun gave her phone Ji ah got irritated 
   Ji ah "Sun next is my turn for interview, they will call me now. How can I talk to him now. let me go on stage first. Tell him I will call him after interview."
   Sun "Ji ah no you must take this call first, Chang sir is on the stage he will manage it."
    Ji ah "What are you talking about?"
     Sun "Ji ah somebody called hyak he wants to tell you about your identity…"
      When Ji ah heard this her mind went blank for some time…She wanted to know everything about herself… Her past life, her family, her friends and her love life so that if she get together with Chang she doesn't wanted any burden of the past for Chang to carry.
           She doesn't wanted any obstacle with the relationship with Chang. She wanted her past life to be a clean slate so that she  can write her and Chang's story on it. She tried to make her mind to get to know about truth. Slowly when she made up her mind, she got up from her seat and turned to leave. 
        Ji ah "Sun please tell Chang to handle the press conference. I have to go."
       Sun "Don't worry Ji ah sir is here. But Ji ah nobody cared about your past. It doesn't matter who are you? What was your past life? Sometimes I think that we should just stick to the god's plan… We must not challenge his decisions. Maybe we will regret it if we get to know about your past. Don't you think Chang sir is happy with what he knows, he doesn't required to know anything."
                  Ji ah "Yes I know Sun. nobody wants to know about my past. They all are happy with what we have. But I need to know about my past because I don't want anything to come in between me and Chang."
       Then Ji ah almost ran towards destination with bright hope of finding about her past, about her family, about any other relationship which can come in between her and Chang. When she reached to hyak she  almost ran out of her breath.
    Sun "Oh Ji ah Chang sir already knows many things about your past and I know here is really a big reason behind his silence. I hope you never find out about your past Ji ah…I think it is for the best…." After saying this she sent a message on manager Kim's number to tell him about Ji ah is waiting in studio for fake call...
      When manager Kim saw the message he immediately told a person to call on hyak's number.
          "Hello. Yes we are waiting for information…yes we will check it…at what time..??? At nine okay…we will be waiting…thank you..." 
              When hyak finished his call he turned to look at Ji ah to tell her the information but when he saw her hopeful eyes and all his courage left his body. He again have to lie her about her past to protect her but he felt so bad to lie to her all over again.
            "What is it hyak?? Did they found anything??" Ji ah asked him hoping for the best. But when she saw his dawn face she got to know her answer...
            "Oh…It's nothing again right..??? It's okay hyak don't feel bad for me…It's not in your hands….I can wait for some more time…"  Ji ah said with little sad voice. She wanted to know everything about her past as soon as possible so that she could be with Chang but to her avail nothing was coming out…. 
           Sun "Ji ah don't feel bad about it so much. Why don't you leave this thing? Every time you get hopes and after results you get so sad. I don't like to see you so sad."
            Ji ah "Believe me Sun I will be all right… Just give me some time. Okay"
           Sun "No Ji ah it is a high time now… You need to come out in reality. You don't have anyone in your family… It's been already 4 and half year, not even single person tuned to ask about you. You call me heartless I won't mind. Cursed me as much as you wish but just don't follow this up…Please"
          Ji ah "Sun… You are worrying too much why? I am perfectly fine… and I am never going to leave finding about my past… did you forget about what happened 2 years back. I don't want repeat it.
