A story of a former magical girl treading through life trying to find her purpose after defeating her ultimate villain many years ago.

This story is told through very informal letters written by Ena Tomes who just barely scrapped by the last seven years of her schooling so her letters aren't quite up to formal format.

Eventually, I want to go from letter to novel format once the story reaches a very critical point in its plot.

The priority for the restart is to make sure that the action won't compromise the country's hard-earned initial success in the battle against the coronavirus pandemic, Yao added.
"We are very confident at the moment that we could bring our league back on track," Yao said during the interview aired on CCTV. "The improving situation regarding the virus control and prevention has significantly enhanced the possibility for our league to restart."
Since the league came to an indefinite halt after 30 rounds of the 2019-20 regular season, the CBA has been preparing for all possible scenarios for a restart, including to complete the full schedule of the season, to cut short the regular action and to jump into the postseason directly.
It seems that to abandon the original home-and-away format and to have all the clubs finish a shortened regular season followed by the playoffs on a tight schedule will be the most likely option to get the restart going, according to Yao.

Xu Wannian still hadn't recovered from his shock before the launching of the opening ceremony of the National University Martial Arts Competitions, which began with an instrumental performance by the philharmonic orchestra of Songcheng University, followed by the graceful dancing of the young and lively dance company.
"We can sleep for a while after watching the dance." Cai Zongming yawned naturally.
Lou Cheng deliberately made an expression of fear. "At the school's opening ceremony, the principal talked nonsense for over an hour and a half. Think he'd get knocked out if he did the same thing again?"
"I can't tell whether he will be hit today, but he's not the only one who has been talking nonsense. I watched a video a couple days ago about last year's opening ceremony. The chairman of the Martial Arts Federation made a speech that was so long it both remained fresh in my mind and also nearly put me to sleep." Cai Zongming said with a "righteous" look on his face.
Honored guests of the Martial Arts Club of Shanbei University were seated in the front row. Listening to the speech of the president of Songcheng University, Xu Wannian looked weary. He wanted to sleep yet didn't dare to, since it a live telecast.
"He's just going on and on..." a delicate-looking boy with freckles on his face next to him said as his mouth twitched. "Brother Xu, could you use your 'Misfortune Seer' tactic on the old man to make him forget what he was going to say, or lose his notes, or make his blood pressure go up, something like that?"
After a short silence, Xu Wannian sighed. "I want to, but he's too f*cking far away!"
He looked toward Peng Leyun next to him. "In times like this, I admire and worship Junior Brother Peng the most. He can reflect on life and go on a mental journey whether or not there's someone around talking nonsense. I honestly suspect that he just has a supernatural ability to sleep with his eyes open!"
"I also envy Brother Leyun. He can be lost in thought while he is still talking." Another member of the Martial Arts Club echoed the opinion.
"All of you, lower your voices," said the instructor of the Martial Arts Club of Shanbei University sitting in the front row after turning his head. With his hair all white in middle age, he had sunken eyes and an old-fashioned temperament. He was well respected in the Martial Arts Club, so everyone shut their mouths immediately.
Half an hour later, Cai Zongming became drowsy, his eyes glazing over.
"Cheng, we should talk to each other. Otherwise, I will fall asleep and roll down from the steps. If that happened, I'd be a running joke all over the country!"
"I guess the principal may finish his talk soon. There are so many guests today, and every one of them has to say a few words. If the principal takes too long, the opening ceremony won't finish until dawn." Lou Cheng attempted to comfort himself.
The atmosphere that had been created by the music and dance a moment ago had already frozen over.
Lou Cheng had barely finished speaking when the principal abruptly brought his speech to an end, made a salute and got down from the platform. It seemed that the principal was unsatisfied about the time limit of the speech.
Clap! Clap! Clap!
There came a roar of thunderous applause in the gym, practically blowing the roof off the place.
Feeling as if they'd escaped from a great catastrophe, Lou Cheng and Cai Zongming also clapped their hands forcibly, showing their thanks to the principal for his mercy by releasing them from the long-winded speech.
"Next, we shall invite Mr. Fang Jingjue, the Chairman of the National College Martial Arts Federation to give a speech." The host invited the next guest.
"..." With his mouth agape, Cai Zongming said, "Cheng, we'd better talk to each other."
Eyeing the front, Lou Cheng watched the cameras at each position and murmured.
"About what?"
"Do you know about the special competition format for martial arts competitions in teams?" Cai Zongming threw himself into the topic with his heart and soul.
"I don't live under a rock, how could I not know? Under normal circumstances, each party may send three fighters to fight one by one in single combat, during which the winner stays and the loser leaves. The first party to have all three candidates defeated is out of the competition. However, sometimes it's allowed to apply for a special competition format in which all three candidates from each party come on the stage to fight. That way they can fully display all the unique aspects of that certain kind of martial arts." Lou Cheng casually talked about the special competition format, while listening to the unending speech by Chairman Fang Jingjue.
Cai Zongming answered with a smirk, "Then do you know what they say about the special competition format?"
"What?" Lou Cheng became interested.
Cai Zongming grinned. "It is said that during the initial establishment of the Professional Martial Arts Competition, the Xuanwu School went to the leader of the martial arts realm at that time, Master Lin Zhongxun. They said to Master Lin that the competition format was not fair, for their school-based itself on swords formation and was good at the 'Sanyuan Dingguan Swords Array (three-man swords array).' If they were going to fight one by one in single combat, what was to stop the others from taking advantage of their weakness?"
"Ah, that's right! Some schools are better at joint formation than single combat. The ordinary competition format truly is unfair to them," said Lou Cheng.
Cai Zongming replied with a laugh, "Master Lin also thought so. So he formulated a special competition format where if the application was put forth in advance, one school could send three disciples in at the same time to do a set swords formation. The opponent could fight with a three-person formation or have the three substitute fighters together."
"This sounds quite fair, a school poor at formation holds the advantage in number. Why is that so funny?" Lou Cheng gazed at Cai Zongming, puzzled.
Cai Zongming stifled his smile and said, "Hearing this, the Master of Kongtong School couldn't help but go to Master Lin to seek equal treatment. He said to Master Lin that Kongtong School was good at 'Five Directions and Five Elements Formation', and three disciples were far too few to meet the demand."
"Seems to make sense..." Lou Cheng said in hesitation.
Cai Zongming continued. "The Shangqing was beside the Kongtong School, and they couldn't ignore it hearing them talk like this. How else could they suffer such an injustice? 'Master Lin, please show some consideration for the 'Big Dipper Sword Formation' of Shangqing Sect!' What do you think, didn't this put Master Lin in an awkward position?"
"This truly was a specific problem. Master Lin would have to rack his brain to find a more comprehensive competition format..." Lou Cheng said, furrowing his brow.
"At that time, the Buddhist abbot of the Daxing Temple came in. He stared at Master Lin and mentioned the Five Hundred Arhats Formation..." Clapping his hands, Cai Zongming continued, "Well, Master Lin just told them to get out!"
Lou Cheng couldn't help but burst into laughter. "That's true. There is nothing in the world that can satisfy everyone."
They seemed to be entirely absorbed in listening to the speech with a smile on their face when they were chatting with each other. Talking and laughing, one guest came up after another. They enjoyed the song and dance in between, waiting until "Light in Still Night" Liang Yifan, came onto the stage.
It was necessary for Yan Zheke and others to take the lead, as the martial arts gym had exploded in the clamor.
This was not only because of the personal charm of Liang Yifan, but also due to the "efforts" made by the guests in the front row!
"I'm not the best speaker, and I know that you all are eager to see the results from the drawing. So at this moment I just want to declare my sincere wish that National University Martial Arts Competitions will be better and better, have a deep lasting impact and provide an opportunity for the youth who had missed training when they were younger!" Liang Yifan said knowingly.
"Great!" Cai Zongming, Xu Wannian and others were amongst the first to applaud. Seeing the smiles of everyone in the gymnasium, one could clearly sense the feeling of warmth amongst the people there.
The projector started and behind Liang Yifan a screen showed up, on which there was the roster for the district contest. However, the fighting competitors were still left blank.
According to the competition format, there would be four groups within this region. The top four participants of the region last year would enter the group competition directly as seeded players, while other schools should enter corresponding groups through two rounds or three rounds of individual competitions. The one who got the left side during drawing lots would enjoy home advantage.
The group competition was carried out in a single cycle, and the home field was determined according to last years results. The top eight would enter the Top Eight Knockout, and the top two Knockout would participate in the national finals as representatives of their region.
The master of ceremonies and the host then put two boxes, a large one and a small one, on the stand in front of Liang Yifan. He drew out the seeded team of each group from the small box.
"Group A," Stretching his hand inside, Liang Yifan took out a piece of paper, then unfolded it and said out loud, "Shannan University Martial Arts Club."
They had gotten third place last year.
"Group B... Shanbei University Martial Arts Club!" Liang Yifan didn't skip a beat as the coaches in the gym stared at each other in dismay; the other participants on group B could only fight for second place.
"Group C... Sanjiang College... Group D... Haiyuan School." After drawing the seeded player of each group, Liang Yifan made a bow with his hands folded in front and left the platform, while the other guests continued to draw for the teams in each knockout.
Lou Cheng's heart was in his throat, and he realized that he already cared about the honor of the Martial Arts Club.
The fact that Songcheng University Martial Arts Club was not among the Knockouts of Group A made him somewhat regretful. Compared to Shanbei and Sanjiang, the other two martial arts clubs were not so scary.
"Group B, the third Knockout, Home Field..." Drawing out the paper, the guest spoke out, "Songcheng University Martial Arts Club!"
"Holy shit! Turns out to the most difficult group..." Lou Cheng felt a little depressed.
"No big deal, perhaps the other opponents were weak? It's OK if we can make second place." Cai Zongming always looked on the bright side of things.
The guest then drew out the opponent for Songcheng University - Neihai Normal School.
"That's okay." Lou Cheng breathed a heavy sigh of relief as Neihai Normal School was known as a weak team.
As the opponent for the second round of Knockouts would come from Qin Yang and the other weak school, the odds would favor Songcheng to enter the group competition.
When the drawing was finished, it was already late into the night. After coming back to their dorms, they were all too exhausted to pay attention to the news and went to sleep one after the other.
The next day, Lou Cheng returned to the dorm in the afternoon. He searched for news about the opening ceremony of the National University Martial Arts Competitions. Everyone was still following everything quite closely due to Liang Yifan attending.
In the Longhu Club forum, Lou Cheng found some posts below the front page where there were video news and a featured program made by Songcheng TV Station.
"Featured program?" Without reading the comments below, Lou Cheng skimmed one time through the news video and set his mind at rest after verifying there was no footage of him and Cai Zongming chatting and laughing. However, when he clicked the feature program of Songcheng TV Station, he caught sight of his own face!
"Very excited and thrilled. Umm, I'm really honored," said dimwittedly, with an idiotic smile on his face.
That was the time they were interviewed as onlookers outside the Martial Arts Club during the orientation conducted inside... Recalling past events, Lou Cheng opened the door of his dorm and shouted toward the opposite side. "Talker! Little Ming! Come and watch this, we're on the TV!"
Originally, when the interview had finished, they'd both eagerly looked forward to seeing their faces on TV, and would watch the Songcheng TV Station now and then. However, they never saw their faces and soon forgot about it. Who'd have known that this interview was part of the program? They hadn't thought it wouldn't be broadcast until the opening ceremony of the martial arts competitions.
"Really?" Cai Zongming came in and asked Lou Cheng to play it back. "Whew! Nice! I've got a handsome smile, not like a certain someone who seems clumsy and dumbfounded. Let's take a look at the comments, any words of praise for me?"


Here martial arts are no longer intangible legends. They have been passed on from generation to generation and from century to century. After the confrontation with science and technology, they have completely integrated into modern society and all kinds of martial arts competitions are taking place across the country as superiority among scholars are hard to reach a consensus but not as difficult among martial artists!
Lou Cheng has inherited the lost skills of the greatest martial arts sect. Towards his original dream and the glory in his heart, he advances step by step, becoming the warrior of this modern city and the hero of the era!

Ador got an interview call letter in August end.   She was very excited. Her interview was scheduled in 18th September,  n if all goes well,  she would join as Manager,  Sales and Marketing. 

The call letter came  from a far off metro city.  She took permission from her parents and after getting their blessings embarked on her journey down south,  alone. 

She felt too excited and could not sleep the entire night of train journey.  She was supposed to stay at her maternal grandparents home during this time,  until her parents joined her in the winters.  Didun, her granny waited for her patiently knowing that,  since it was the first time for Ador to come alone, Ador would be late,  enjoying the hustle bustle of  city life  in comparison to her district town,  Darjeeling.
Her Uncle was an income tax officer  in Kolkata,  who brought in a lot of sweets,  as a welcoming treat for his niece. Soon Didun,  Uncle Tukul and Aunt Ya were having lunch together.  Post lunch,  Tukul saw the call letter for the interview  and said he would drop Ador , near the venue. 

All were waiting excitedly for dawn.

As one grows up,  in the Indian subcontinent,  marriages are arranged. 
This story revolves around a boy,  who was immature enough to get married,  shoved into the rat race of work and earning money and before he could realise his goals in life clearly,  he was put into an arranged marriage. 
As years go by,  he though bodily matured,  but emotionally still a boy gets involved into alcoholism,  smoking,  women,  gambling.  He took his arranged marriage as part of life's  adjustments. 
I  don't love you anymore is contradictory as he falls in love with his wife past 25 years of marriage,  whereby he realises,  friends who seemed friends actually,  were enemies in disguise.He goes for rehabilitation,  due to alcoholic tendencies but does not recover.  He does not succeed in business world and feels all these bad things that are happening to him is because of his wife.   She is the greatest bad luck in his life is what he feels. He never loved his wife,  from the first day of marriage,  took her just for sexual needs,  made her his 24*7 secretary,  beat her to pulp due to alcoholism and frustration.
But she never left his side. As years go by,  he sees his wife as the only strongest pillar of his life. So when at the age of 60, he thinks of telling her his true feelings for her,  his wife says that she has moved on in life.  Now that her children are grown up,  she is tired of his bickering and fights.  She confessed,  I don't love u anymore and goes to enrol in an old age home,  to live a life  without any pain and emotional struggle.

Even when you look at the book cover of two ducklings, here in this book, looking at opposite directions, this also has a lot of significance,  as per the storyline.  Both are in the same pail,  as in marriage,  at a young age, tied to the family, but both looking in opposite ways.  One into family bond,  taking care of in law's,  children,  daily grocery shopping,  cooking and doing all household chores.  The other has his life outward bound,  partying around,  drinks and friends, women,  gambling, earning money and travelling distant lands,  passports filled with visas of countries around the world, no strings attached to the family. 
As years fly by and things don't change in the scenario,  the wife at old age walks out of marriage, to lead a life as per her choice, at 62 years,  the man has now stabled up and looks forward to live his old age along with his wife,  but here is the cliche,  she simply walks out without looking behind to a life where she relentlessly always gave without any returns or favours asked. She walks towards an unknown voyage at old age where nobody expects anything from her and she does not expect anything from anyone, a house she would learn to call her home,  an old age home.....

This is my first attempt in weaving a story.  I would appreciate for a genuine feedback from my supporters in the form of comments,  votes and spirit stones.  
I was unwell for the past month and a half , so the speed has lessened,  but I will not fail in weaving my thoughtsand pen them down at the earliest.  Your genuine feedback will help spark my imagination.

Gun-Ho received a letter from Lymondell Dyeon in Seattle, U.S.A.
"Shoot. This is all written in English."
Gun-Ho decided to bring the letter to Attorney Young-Jin Kim who studied in America. He called Attorney Kim to check if he was available to meet.
"Attorney Kim? It's me. I will come to Seoul soon to see you. Will you be available this afternoon?"
"Yes, I will be in the office. What's up?"
"I submitted my application to participate in a joint venture with Lymondell Dyeon, and I just received a letter from them. I think I'd better discuss it with an attorney."
"Really? So you are going to do a joint venture with them."
"GH Mobile will soon move to a new location, and I will keep the current factory in Asan City. I want to start Dyeon Korea there."
"Okay. Come quick. I am really curious about what the letter says."
 
Gun-Ho took a KTX train heading to Seoul and went to Kim & Jeong Law Office located in the Gwanghwa Gate area.
"Gun-Ho Goo? You are so quick. Let me see the letter."
Gun-Ho handed the letter which was sent by Dyeon to Attorney Kim, and Attorney Kim thoroughly read the letter.
"Well, they said your company's financial statements report that you sent to them was not quite satisfactory to their qualification requirements."
"Really? I lowered the company's debt ratio a lot, but still, it is not sufficient for them?"
"However, they said, they highly recognize the president's drive, work experience, and character, so they decided to invite you for an interview."
"Haha, really?"
"You can come for an interview in the first week of next month. And they said, before you come, they want you to contact their personnel—Angelina Rein—to arrange the specific date for the interview."
"Angelina Rein? Is it a lady?"
"Yes, it's a female name. They gave you her phone number as well."
"They said that you need to bring some photos of the factory's exterior and interior. Also, if you could bring some product samples that your factory manufactured, that would be great."
"That's it?"
"They are also asking you to bring a business plan written in English."
"Hmm. There are a lot of things I need to prepare for the interview…"
"Why don't you ask a professional to do the business plan?"
"A professional?"

"Kim & Jeong is notorious for their high legal fees, right?"
"We won't charge you a lot. When you go to Seattle for your interview with Dyeon, you'd better go with us too."
"Hmmm. That's right. Okay, then let's make a contract."
Gun-Ho thought it was a good idea to get help from a law firm since he was about to work with a global company—Dyeon. He was willing to pay for the legal fees.
 
Two days after Gun-Ho came back to Asan City, two young men visited Gun-Ho's company. They looked distinctive. They were wearing a blinding white shirt with overalls. Their hairstyle was unique as well. They definitely seemed to be people who were heavily influenced by American culture.
"Are you President Gun-Ho Goo? I've heard a lot about you, sir. We are referred by Attorney Young-Jin Kim. I am the planning director of Moor Investment."
"Are you here for a business plan?"
"Yes, we are. The most important thing in writing a business plan is to grasp the gist of it. We will start by having a tour of the factory."
Gun-Ho asked for the plant manager, but he was out of the office for the moment. Gun-Ho instead asked for Jong-Suk.
"These gentlemen came here to help us write a business plan. Please guide them to the factory tour."
"Yes, sir."
Gun-Ho introduced the sales director to those people and told them that the sales director was the best person to ask about the company if they had any questions. The sales director could explain very well about the company's value to them since he was once involved in figuring out the company's value with accountants during the past court receivership. They could also have a tour to the research center as well since the research center hadn't dissolved yet. They also visited the new factory in Jiksan Town and took photos.
"Do you think you can make an excellent business plan for our company?"
"Yes, we can. However, I think we need to exaggerate a bit of the sales plan. We will take care of it."
"We are counting on you, people. Thank you for your work."
"We'd like to visit GH Parts Company that is situated in Suzhou City, China, that you have invested in."
"Oh, you do want to visit the factory in China too? It's a small factory though."
"Yes, actually we need to see that factory too. The important key to the business plan is to establish the sales and business network overseas. GH Parts Company in China will be the base camp of the Dyeon Korea for China's market, right?"
"Yes. Okay."
"We will need two flight tickets to Suzhou City, China and a hotel reservation."
Gun-Ho asked for the general affairs manager.
"Mr. General Affairs Manager, these two gentlemen need to see our factory in China too. Please prepare two flight tickets to Suzhou City and a hotel reservation for them."
"Yes, sir."
 
Gun-Ho then made a call to Min-Hyeok in China.
"Min-Hyeok? It's me, Gun-Ho. We will send two gentlemen to your factory. They are from a company called Moore Investment. Please take care of them. They will need a tour of the factory."
"What is it regards to?"

I left his office wondering whether I am dreaming or he was playing, but when I got to the place the following morning and his friend welcomed me and introduced me to the management as a special staff from my present place of employment whom he woo over to join their team, I was shocked !
      The show host cuts in here with a question, "Do you mean they took his word at face value and employed you without any form of test or interview?"

       "So they did not discovered that you switched over to the rival company?" The presenter asked.
       Tolu answered, "They knew later....." And they did not sue for redress? The presenter cuts in with this question.
       Tolu answered, "They could not not do that, though I dumped them but I followed the laid down rule in doing so. When I was employed they gave me their code of conduct, and in it they specified that a staff who want to leave the company without prior notice will have to pay the company the exact amount that staff earns in a month...."
      The presenter cuts in, "So you paid them off and jumped ship?" Tolu answered, "In a way yes I paid them off, though not directly, I left the company at the end of the month when they were about to pay our salary, so in my disengagement letter I told them to keep my salary as pay off for my sin as stipulated in their staff's code of conduct"
      The presenter said, "Somehow I did not like that you did that to that company" Tolu answered, I also do not like it, but Richie came to our house in the evening of the day he gave the interview letter to me and I tried to tell him I could not do what he was asking me to do because the management of the company loved me"
      "What was his answer?" The presenter asked and Tolu replied, "Richie told me not to be a fool that the company don't like anybody, that the moment the going is good and they are benefiting from our talents they will make us feel we are kings, but let any small error occur, they will sack you like you were nothing to the company without notice. All these corporations are full of double standards, when they want to fire a staff they do it without notice, but when a staff wants to leave them they ask the staff to give them notice of a month or two, is that fair?"
       With his lecture I was encourage to do what my conscience did not agreed with me to do. Although later when the management discovered that I was with their rival, I saw that they were not shocked because it was a normal game between the two, I told you before that Richie  himself was actually snatched from the other camp and given sumptuous salary and post."
       The presenter said, "If that is the case, then I can't blame you much, it is a tit for tat game, but what now happened after you switched office?"
       "What do you expect?" Tolu remarked, Richie came to our house and said straight to me, now you have no more excuse, be mine and I did.
       The presenter called it a wrap when they got to this stage and called for peoples' vote that will bring Tolu back the following night.

A muscular Orc secretary in office lady clothing walked in big strides as he carried two cups of bloody chrysanthemum tea. He placed the teacups on the table and nodded to Andrew and the Gnome reporter before leaving the office. 
"Dungeon Lord Andrew, thank you for your hospitality. I'm here to conduct a special interview."
The Gnome reporter was wearing large black-framed spectacles. He adjusted his spectacles and spoke politely.
"Of course, as the Winterfell Dungeon Lord, I'm honored to be interviewed by the media. You can ask whatever questions you want."
Andrew was gloating inside. Finally, a reporter came to interview him. He was going to be in the headlines tomorrow. He had already thought of a title for the newspaper—"Dungeon Lord Andrew, a good Dungeon Lord who cares for his residents". 
This represented his intention and achievements. The most important thing was that it told the truth.

The Gnome nodded politely and hurried out.
Andrew looked grave. He turned to look at the agitated Orc and asked, "Which department is that? From where did you receive the news?"
"Dungeon Lord, it's the Publicity Department!"
The Orc said excitedly, "I just received an anonymous letter. After checking it, an Orc did come to Winterfell to request aid." 
"Let me take a look at the letter," Andrew extended his hand and said.
The Orc handed the letter to Andrew, who examined it. Then Andrew said, "Thank you for contributing to Winterfell. You may leave."
"Dungeon Lord, it's what I should be doing!" the Orc shouted excitedly before leaving.
Andrew threw a punch in the air. He gritted his teeth and finished the bloody chrysanthemum tea in one gulp. He was full of jealousy.
Why did Lord Sherlock help those Orcs? Why did his green-skinned creatures defeat the Ogres easily? Did Sherlock discover his plan and Michelangelo's relic? Did the Ogres divulge the secret?
That was despicable! Why was Sherlock so lucky?
Andrew wasn't resigned to fate, but he couldn't do anything. He wouldn't give up Michelangelo's relic. However, Winterfell already knew about the attack on the Orc village. He couldn't stand by and do nothing.

It would be a lie to say that the rest of the journey had passed uneventfully but after a few more attacks, it had become commonplace to hear sounds of small fights and scuffles as Burgundy dispatched all who thought they could attack the bus, even as the driver drove like a maniac, making the old motor vehicle speed like it was one of Jan Maroon's supercars, the bus growling its disapproval as it moved along.

Still, the entire bus had made it in one piece by the end of the ride, though Ignace himself felt slightly sick, as if Burgundy had buzzed him with her ability once again. Yet here they were, and Ignace regarded the large walls of Ukhozi City with awe. They were at least twice as large as those of Ima, and they spanned as far as the eye could see to both sides.

The last few hundred meters had been easy sailing (or driving), as they had encountered several military camps outside of the city itself, protecting the area around the walls of the mighty capital city of the Empire. The gates looked to be several times heavier and larger than those at Ima but the speed and ease with which they rose put Ima's gates to shame. The district immediately inside the walls was military, to the left, there were barracks for soldiers, and to the right, Ignace saw dozens of offices for Protectors.

"That's ours!" Tyrion pointed out proudly to the entire bus, pointing his finger at an office close to the gates, which held a sign which read 'Tyrion & Burgundy's Protection Firm'.

His audience, the people on the bus, oohed at the sight, as the bus moved past, thankfully far slower, as it was once again inside the walls of a city and subject to traffic rules once more. It took only a few short minutes before the bus arrived at Union Station, where the bus stopped at the fifth terminal.

"Thank you," Ignace nodded to Tyrion as he exited the bus along with the rest of the passengers.

"Entirely our pleasure kiddo, good luck with the exams, I know firsthand how nerve-wracking that can be."

"What's your alma mater?" Ignace asked curiously.

"Avarie." Tyrion replied, "Gaz graduated with me too, it'll probably be one you'll be applying to today as well." he grinned, "I've got a feeling I might just be seeing you again today.

"Well yeah, aren't you protecting us on the ride back as well?"

"Not quite what I meant," Tyrion responded.

Ignace scratched his head at the random statement, which Tyrion did not follow up, and made to leave.

"Don't forget to throw us a mail if you need reliable protection at any time!" Tyrion called after them, one last plug for their firm.

Ignace held up a hand in a goodbye-gesture. Ukhozi City's Union Station was a large place, all big pillars and grand arches, and lots and lots of people. Despite it being slightly intimidating, Ignace was already enjoying the atmosphere of the metropolis.

"Ayy, Kiddo!" Ignace heard a voice call out and looked up to see a man in the garb of Union Station. 

"Yes?" he answered hesitantly.

"You'll be wanting a Uni Guide, no?" the man asked, "Tells you where each Uni is, and which Uni has their exam when."

"Ah, yes, we would like to purchase one of those," Ignace's mother popped into view, "How much?"

"It's on the city," the man waved them off, handing a booklet to Ignace, "Don't want the cost of a booklet to be the barrier to entry for talent now, do we?" he asked rhetorically.

"After making us pay for the trip here, they're worrying about the cost of a booklet?" Ignace's mother asked.

"Ain't that the truth!" the man with the pamphlets laughed mirthfully but did not give any other response before walking off and continuing selling the thing to a new batch of students which had arrived in a different bus.

Ignace opened the booklet, interested. The timings were designed in such a way that one could only really apply to any three schools in the city, as the entrance exams were slotted into batches by class. The 'C' class schools held their exams the earliest, then the 'B' class schools, then finally the 'A' class schools later in the evening. The system was fixed so that every student could only apply to one school from each tier, which was, honestly, beneficial to the students themselves, Ignace noted. There were well over a dozen schools in each category. He himself had already picked the three schools to which he would be applying.

"We have about an hour before your first entrance exam begins," his mother said, "And it's about lunchtime if you get my drift…" she gave him a meaningful look.

"So it is," Ignace agreed.

"So, you know any good restaurants in the area?"

"...Mom."

"What!? You might!"

"Mom."

"...Okay, we'll ask a cabbie."

The small ball of nerves in his stomach had grown from the size of a moderately sized baseball right up to the size of a watermelon. His mother had bid him goodbye at the gate of the school, going off to explore the various stores which were present in the large city.

Ignace stood, along with over two thousand other applicants to the school, in the large field which was situated behind the University.

The Kubi School for Higher Ability Studies' campus was a single large towering building, spanning several dozen floors. It was very wide as well, no doubt providing a lot of space for the various abilities of its inhabitants.

While he was also applying to a B-level, and even an A-level school, Ignace knew that this would be the only place he would apply where he would actually stand any kind of chance to get in.

Ignace was situated somewhere near the back of the large crowd, so he couldn't see the woman who finally spoke up.

"HELLO, THIS IS GWEN GAMBOGE, CAN ALL OF Y'ALL HEAR ME FINE?"

The voice of the self-identified Gwen Gamboge was so loud that she nearly blew out the eardrums of all the children assembled in front of her.

A few moments later, she spoke again, this time much softer, but still audible by the entirety of her audience, quite a remarkable feat considering the size of it.

"Sorry about that guys," she chuckled cheerfully, "Juuuuust a hiccup! Anyway, there's quite a few of you, as per usual really, so we're gonna go ahead and divide the lot of you up amongst the entirety of our staff present right now. We'll divide you in alphabetical order, by your last name. Please make your way to the floor that corresponds with the first letter of your last name. For example, if your last name were Ash, you would make your way to the first floor, if your last name were Bleu, you'd make your way to the second, all the way up to our theoretical Mr or Ms. Zaffre, who would make his or her way up to floor 26, am I understood? You will be met by the staff member in charge of your group up there. Any questions?"

The lady waited a moment for all of this to sink in before saying, "Okay, chop chop, get to where you need to be."

The stampede, as people tried to run to the elevators and the various staircases as fast as possible, was quite intense, and Ignace stuck near the back, there was no disadvantage given to those who simply walked in a little later after all and rushing through to the front and fighting to retain such a position was most likely just going to tire him out.

In the end, it took him about 15 minutes to make his way up to the ninth floor. Despite his lack of hurrying, he still found his way up quicker than those trying to fight for the elevator, making it with about the middle of the pack. 

About 70 people with last names which began with the letter 'i' had made it into the room, which had been filled with tables and chairs, in the general format of a paper examination.

Ignace raised an eyebrow at the idea of being tested in such a traditional method for an ability school.

The prospectives in the room began to mill around as their supervisor had yet to show his or her face.

"YO!" the painfully loud voice of Gwen Gamboge burst through the door, the volume of the sound being enough to shake the poor door frame. 

Gamboge sauntered in cheerfully through the door, "THIS WAY CHILDREN!" she projected once more, certainly leaving no-one who was not absolutely clear on who their supervisor was.

At a more bearable volume, she continued, "Unless I sent you deaf down there with my little hiccup, you must all know who I am, yes?" she paused for an answer, and after a slight delay of a few seconds of blank staring, she got a chorus affirmative response, "My name is Gwen Gamboge, and I am a Professor here at Kubi, I will be supervising your entrance examination, I am the wielder of the Passive Ability: Amplitude. Now, as you have all probably found, us Universities are highly secretive about the contents of our entry processes, and let me tell you this, every single university has a vastly different style of testing their students, it varies especially by what is valued by the school you are applying to. While universities these days are entirely focussed on the development of your abilities, we at Kubi believe that the sciences and maths are still integral to any kind of holistic learning. Therefore a major component of our testing will be in the form of the exam papers you see laid out on the tables. Most of this should be content you have covered in school, but beware, it ain't going to be an easy paper! During the exam, I will call each of you up, one by one, for a very short interview and display of our ability. Am I understood?"

Seeing no questions, she continued, "Please find your way to a seat, my friend Bert here will be invigilating, he will also announce who must come up to meet me. I will be situated in room 0901, which you can see at the other side of the hall. That is all." she said, gesturing to a ratty cloaked man who perked up at the name of Bert, like a particularly ugly wrinkled puppy dog.

With that, Gamboge sauntered off to her room, calling out to a student Ignace did not know to follow her in.

The test itself was not something that Ignace was prepared for in the slightest, it had come completely out of left field. 

Ignace had focussed so much on honing his ability, and on his charisma, that he couldn't even tell you what the powerhouse of the cell was supposed to be, for god's sake!

He didn't do so bad on the math portion, recalling what little he remembered and doing his best to logically derive the answers for the other questions, a kind of logic which helped him with the physics portion as well, but there was no helping his miserable performance in the chemistry and biology portions of the paper. 

Ignace racked his brain with growing despair that the single university option with which he had a significant show in was slowly slipping out of his grasp because he hadn't spent enough time studying the anatomy of the human body of all things!

About halfway through the paper, when Ignace had already made it through all of the content he was familiar with, and was just jabbing shots in the dark, he was called for by the mildly terrifying Bert, in his vaguely evil-sounding raspy voice which left one wondering how on earth he had ended up with a job which involved teaching, or speaking of any kind, really.
 
Presently, putting his thoughts on the weirdness that was Bert, Ignace brought his thoughts back to what would await him in room 0901. Some kind of impromptu scenario? Nah, that didn't seem like the style of this school at all. An interview? Likely, but how would it be conducted?

With these thoughts in his mind, Ignace smartly knocked on the door to the room.

"Come in." he heard the voice of the overly loud professor.

Ignace entered the room, coming face to face with Gamboge, who seemed to favor standing and pacing around her office to remaining in her seat all day, it certainly spiced thing up a bunch. 

"Hello?" he tried.

"Hello!" the woman scribbled into her notepad as Ignace wondered what of significance he had done to warrant note-taking. 

"It's the way you're standing," she explained as if she could read his mind, "Or I suppose I could be saying that as a trap to register your response. Of course, I'm not, but then, do you know that?"

"Huh?" was the most eloquent thing that Ignace could produce, "Umm, my name is Ignace Indigo and-"

"I know," she said, nonetheless scribbling furiously into her notepad, "Favourite icecream flavour?"

"Well, chocolate, but-"

"Hmmmm, chocolate…" she nodded, "As I would have guessed."

"Guessed? Based on what?"

"The scientific method, dearie," she said, not really explaining anything of significance, only her rate of scratching words out increasing, "Now, stand up, my boy."

Considering he was already standing, Ignace was unsure of what he should do, so he decided to straighten his somewhat hunched shoulders, realising belatedly that that might have been the posture she had been referring to earlier, if she even had been, and cursing himself for the possible mark down he might get for that, then remembering his performance on the written portion of the exam, and deciding glumly that no number of points down here would really be making any kind of difference to his overall score.

"Good," Gamboge said, breaking Ignace out of his thoughts, "You have 30 seconds, all you have to do is try and keep standing." she said casually, still scribbling, in a relaxed posture which didn't indicate any kind of possible aggression from her side, leading Ignace to glance up and down, wondering where his challenge would come from, "Starting now!" she said, still scribbling as her other hand grasped a timer.

Ignace turned to look behind him, looking around to see the direction of assault, only to hear an intake of breath from the direction in which Gamboge had been sitting. 

Ignace spun around as the woman released a sound so loud that it shook the air, throwing Ignace against a wall, which he took the support of to keep standing. 

In an instant, the woman had flung herself over the table, her leg aimed for his face. 

Ignace ducked out of the way with relative ease, only to find himself sans any kind of wall for support, and now facing down another sound blast. As the air warped around the soundwaves, providing somewhat of a trajectory to be avoided, Ignace twisted out of the way, still being pushed by the displaced air (not to mention the assault on his ears from the constant shrieking noise), and managed to land on his feet.

He had not found the room to be particularly large upon entering it, but he found that the walls were far enough apart that Gamboge found it only to easy to cut him off as he made a run for the closest wall to himself.

As she opened her mouth for what was sure to be another auditory attack, Ignace threw himself to the left, keeping his balance to try and land on his feet, only to find his feet whipped out from under him and himself in no position to stop falling face-first onto the marble ground.

In the split second before his nose was absolutely crushed, he yelled out, "Transform Ability: Eagle!" and found himself in the far smaller body of the aerial animal, and flapped his wings, producing a very disproportionate amount of wind which pushed his body up, and out of the range of Gamboge, just as the timer rang.

Ignace transformed himself back and landed on his feet, lacking grace but remaining standing defiantly, nonetheless.

The 18 year old grinned at his accomplishment despite having already dropped the ball on the written portion.

Bringing himself back to reality, he looked up to see Gamboge typing up some form of evaluation on a desktop computer, certainly not slowly, but not at any significant pace to write home about, or compare to her hectic handwriting earlier.

"If these are your notes," Ignace asked, "What was all that!"

"All of what, Indigo?" the woman said, "You can leave by the way, this is done."

"That! You know, all the writing you were doing!"

"Writing? Whatever gave you that idea, I'm a sketch artist! Here, you can keep this piece." Gamboge pulled the piece of paper she had been 'writing' on out of the book, which Ignace just realised, upon further observation, was more reminiscent to a sketchbook than a notebook, and handed it to the Indigo boy.

"Umm, thanks," Ignace said, looking down at the sketch of his face, which was surprisingly good considering it had been completed in roundabout 2-3 minutes.

As he turned to exit, he realised he'd forgotten his entire spiel, and turned to give it to Gamboge, "I-I am the one who will beco-"

"Shoo!" Gamboge shot him down, gesturing with her hand for the boy to leave, "Get Berto to send the next one in."

And so went his first entrance exam.

4/10 would not do again.
