Alas, she was not to be blamed for this lass not knowing how to generate hype from all the opportunities she had created for her.
After the interview, she could not help blurting out, "Yun Shishi, why didn't you make use of the chances I set up for you? Your agent has gone to great lengths to employ my help in pushing you up! With you squandering this rare chance, it'll be a miracle if you become famous."
The actress smiled. "Thank you for your kind words! If the movie becomes a box-office hit, I'll give you a treat."
The editor-in-chief truly felt deflected by then, yet she was touched by her authenticity.
The woman's genuineness was rare in the entertainment industry.
Andy was about to walk away when she had a sudden recollection. Walking back to the artist's side, she eyed her with a hostile look.
The other looked at her warily. Just when the actress thought that she would bother her again, the stylist asked incredulously, instead, "Earlier, why… didn't you follow the script?"
"What?"
"Stop your pretense."
Picking up her bag, Andy had a frosty expression. "I secretly took a peek at the interview script earlier. In it, you were supposed to talk about the rumored relationship between you and Xingze. Why didn't you follow the script during the interview and sidestepped that, instead?"
From what she had read, the focus of the interview was exactly that gossip about the two leads besides promoting the film.
In the end, the actress diverged from it with her responses.
Even the editor-in-chief was so infuriated with her that she did not know what to ask next.
Earlier, she had taken the actress for a calculative newbie. As a newcomer, she managed to star in Lin Fengtian's film and even had a chance to create a buzz with the superstar, earning a spot on Weibo's list of hottest trends.
A person who was not shrewd and conniving could not have made it this far.
At this point, the stylist knew very well how murky the entertainment industry was.

The magazine made the exception for Yun Shishi only because she had the support of her capable agent, yet she did not bother to memorize the script after being granted an interview!

The actress said neutrally, "It's not because I don't treasure this opportunity."

I was slumped against the wall. What the hell had just happened? One moment I had woken up, the next thing I know, the dude just threatened to kill me. The guy I saved. The entire scene just kept repeating in my head. It was like it was on a loop and I was reliving it again. "You should really learn the art of locking doors"? Did I really not lock my door yesterday? That was the scariest part. Anybody could have walked in. It could have been a thief or a murderer. How am I so dumb? I mentally slapped myself. 

I walk out of the bathroom and realize that I don't have enough time to shower, if I wanted to make it to the interview. And I needed the job. I run to my room, Put on my clothes, apply some light makeup. With makeup I mean, eyeliner and lipstick. I pop in some mints and run to the door, praying that I would make it in time for the interview. I run out of the door, just to realize that I forgot to wear my heels. This day could not get any worse. 

Let me tell you, it did get worse. It was as if bad luck followed me everywhere. After the whole forgetting heels thing. I was hoping that that would be the end of all the bad luck that constantly followed me. The road looked empty and the sun glistened in the sky like a shining diamond. The different shades of yellow and red created a magnificent view and it was as if the city had finally slept because there was no noise. It was just the birds chirping and occasional dog barking. Moments like this always make me realize that life was beautiful. The whole scene lasted for exactly 3 minutes before I saw two people arguing. I could see drunk teenagers doing the walk of shame. Cars filled the road. The atmosphere was filled with honks and shouts. And times like this, force me to face reality.

"TAXI" I scream. None of them stop. It was as if I was invisible. Well that was a fail. I take my phone out of my bag to check the time. 9:37. Fuck! I need to be there in another 30 minutes. I can't afford to be late. 

"Taxi" I try my best hailing a taxi. One of the taxis stop in front of me. I sigh a breath of relief. The taxi dude, stops for a minute. He rolls down his window. He eyes trail over my body, he shakes his head and leaves. Just like that. Not a word. 

"Hey assbutt! I hope you get no rides at all! That motherfuc-" 

I hear someone chuckle. 

"Hey, how about you shove that laugh up yo- " And I turn. 

"Is that how you treat me after last night SpongeBob? Did last night mean nothing to you?" He feigns hurt as he moves his hand over his non-existent heart. I'm sure it is shallow in there. There he is standing against a pole. Looking like he just walked out of a GQ cover. I could hear the people around me gasp. 

I could feel a million eyes on me right now. Some looking at me in envy and some looking at me in disgust. The only time the neighborhood acknowledge my existence. They think I'm a slut. Just great!

"Hey Mister! I don't know who you are. Talk to me again and I'll scream bloody murder." I hurried back to find a taxi for myself

"Oh now don't be like that. We both know, that if I did make a move on you, you wouldn't try resisting and we wouldn't have left the house if that happened" With every word he takes a step closer. Really again? Have you no sense of personal space?

I finally managed to flag down a taxi. I put my hand on the handle. Suddenly, I could feel him standing right behind me. His hot breath against my neck caused me to stop breathing. I couldn't think of anything right now. My mind foggy. I could feel the heat rush to my face and I shut my eyes. I couldn't think straight. If I just had some experience in the boys department, this wouldn't have happened. 

Come on Harper breath. Don't let him know that he got to you. Just inhale and exhale. 

A minute passed. I felt the absence of the body that was behind me. I could feel the cold air brush against my skin. I slowly open my eyes, just to find out that he was sitting in my taxi, the one that I had managed to flag down. He looked at me through the window. He said something to the driver, who nodded and rolled down the window. 

"Thanks for the ride, Sweetheart." With that he left again. 

He left me, on the sidewalk. He took my ride. The one I managed to flag down with a lot of difficulty and it made me angry. And you don't want to see Harper Davidson getting angry. I will make sure he has hell to pay. I can't believe I let my guard down. I can't seem to wrap my mind around the effect he has on me. I could feel my heart race just thinking about him. 

No Harper, you will not let him get to you. I will get my revenge and he will have a hell lot to pay.

After what seemed like hours, I found myself a ride. The taxi driver was nice. He took the quickest route to the place and he wasn't very expensive or snobby either. In fact he gave me his number to call him anytime I need ride and if he was around he would help me out. The world deserves more people like this.

I got out of the taxi after saying a quick thank you. The building in front of me was magnificent. The whole building was covered in glass. It looked like it had more than 50 stories. It was covered with solar cells on one side of the building. Waves of people just kept coming in and out. Some of them were talking over the phone. Some running because they were late. On that note, I should be running too. I pat myself down. Look at myself in my phone. Once I was convinced that I looked presentable. I ran inside the building, like my life depended on it because it did. 

One minute I was running, the next minute I was waiting for the ground to welcome me with open arms as I face-planted few meters away from the entrance. I hear someone groan. What is the deal with people and groaning?

"Look where you are going woman!" Me? He is the one who tripped me! That jerk, I help myself up to give him a piece of my mind.

"Listen here, ballsac-". I come face to face with the most beautiful eyes I had ever seen. His messy blonde hair covering a part of his eye. This freakishly tall guy kept pushing his hair back which made his arms bulge. Dayum! How is it that, he looks perfect and I look like I just finished climbing the Himalayas? Is it just me or am I running into Greek Gods every where I go? I would have just kept staring if the dude hadn't opened his mouth. I instantly regretted even thinking that the boy was good looking. Note how I said boy instead of man? 

"Lady, you have a little bit of drool right about there and get out of my way. I'm late for my interview," He chuckles looking at my hair. That little shit! I try wiping it just to realize that he was lying. Pumpkin man thinks he is hot. Well he is but with that ego, he isn't.

"Look where you going assbutt! Wait did you say interview? Is it the first year associate interview where you get personally trained by one of the senior partners by any chance?" I ask curiously.

"Yes. Wait how do you know?" He asked raising one of his perfectly shaped brows.

"I am too." I said.

He looks at me, I look at him and we both run. I am not losing my job to this jerk! 

I heard footsteps behind me. Abett Grey Parkinson is one of the top law firms on planet earth. Most people don't go past the interview stage. The fact that I was offered an interview is a big deal. They only hire the best of the best. There are only limited positions at this firm and I intend to fill one of those empty slots. I quickly locate the front desk. I look around to see that the guy I was running away from was not far away. 

"I'm here for my 10:10 interview. Can I please get an Id to pass through? And can you please make it quick?" I ask drumming my fingers on the counter. I was keeping a constant look out for the dude. He was searching for the front desk too. Ah good luck finding it in this crowd sucker! Cha-ching! 

The lady in the front desk completely ignored me. 

"Excuse me. Can I please get an ID to pass through?" I ask politely again. 

No reply.

"Hey sweetcheeks, are you my Appendix? Because I have a funny feeling in my stomach that makes me feel like I should take you out." He said that in a seductive tone.

The receptionist immediately looks up and gives a very pitchy laugh before she flips her hair a pulls her top down, and her boobs popped up. Geez lady, we get it you have boobs. 

"I bet she thinks appendix is food." I mutter under my breath.

"What was that?" she asked narrowing her eyes at me.

"Nothing" I reply. "Dumb bitch" I mumble. Mr. Jerky turns to me with an amused look on his face while I put on my most innocent look. I was mentally praising myself.

"Can you do me a favor and give me an ID. I'm very late for my interview." He said with a wink. Trying to calm the atmosphere.

She glares at me before she reaches out and pulls out an ID, she drops it "accidentally".

"Ooops!" She said and bent down to take it. Making sure her butt was facing the dude. He lets out a wolfish whistle while I roll my eyes. She then slowly gives him the ID and mouths the words "call me". 

I was flabbergasted.

"Oh come on! You give him the ID and not me? I was here first." I said, this is so not fair. I'm not being a slut but i'm being deprived of an ID cuz I don't have a ding dong?

I was getting frustrated.

"Thanks babe! I owe you one" He said in a husky voice and he gave her a flirtatious wink. He turns to me and winks at me and shows me the ID. That little shit.

"Oh that's it lady! You give me the ID now or I swear to almighty god-" I was then rudely interrupted.

"What will you do?" She said with a high pitched voice.

"I have the upper hand here, honey. So you wait here for as long as I want you to wait." She said

"Leave the girl alone. She was here first. She deserved the ID, Tiffany. Don't do it again or I will report it to Ms. Grey and you know how much she hates people who misuse their position." A lady who looked like she was at least 60 years old says. 

I look at her and smile. She looks at me and gives me a very warm smile.

"Where are you going, Sweetie" She asked.

"I'm not sure but I'm here for the first years interview" I said.

"Oh goody, I'm headed there right now but aren't you late for that? Well don't worry you'll make it in time. Well at least, you won't be very late. Follow me and I apologize for Tiffany here." She said politely.

"Oh there is no need for that. You weren't the one at fault here" I said offering her a smile.

We walk away from the rest of the crowd. 

"Um excuse me, but isn't the elevator on the other side?" I asked.

"Yes it is. But this one is only used by the name partners and as I am the secretary of one of them. I get a free pass." She said and kept walking. I was so thankful I met her as, if I had taken the actual elevator I would have been very late as this place had over 50 floors. I was stopped by the security when the lady next to me told them I was with her and they let me in. I was beginning to like this lady as she was so sweet to me yet she held that power.

We walk into the lift. 

"Um ma'am, thank you so much for today. I don't think I would have ever made it through if it wasn't for you and if I get the job today, I will want to give you a treat." I start rambling when I was suddenly cut off

"Call me Edna, my dear and it wasn't your fault. I don't like Tiffany anyways. The only reason I intervened was because you weren't afraid to stand up for yourself. If you don't get the job, I'll be sure to give him a very good beating. You'll get it. I'm sure. Just be yourself." She said reassuringly.

Ting.

The minute the elevator door opened. I had the most spectacular view. I could see the skyline. It felt as if I was high up in the clouds and I never wanted to leave this place.

"We are here, dear. Just take a left here and follow the glass door, you'll reach my desk. I'll be there shortly. And break a leg kiddo." She winked as she started walking out of the elevator.

I snap back to reality. I look at her and offer her a small smile before muttering a thank you.

I follow her directions and I see that there was no one. Shit I missed my interview. I look around to see if I could spot the jerk and I couldn't. I heard the elevator ding. And I see him walk out of the elevator. He looks at me with wide eyes and I mouth the words "SERVES YOU RIGHT BITCH" with a wink. If this was a cartoon, there would be smoke coming out of his ear. 

I see Edna walking towards her desk. 

"You're late." She said without looking up from her file.

"You should know Mr. Xander hates it when you are not on time. Here at Abett Grey Parkinson, punctuality is everything." She said with a stern look on her face.

"I'm sorry" Both of us say in unison. 

"But let the records show that I was here before him." I said with a little bit of happiness on my face

"This isn't a court room Ms. Davidson" She said not bothering to look at me. My face fell as I saw the jerk next to me do a little bit of a happy dance. What happened to the lady, she was fine before.

"But, I'll tell Mr. Xander that" She said with a wink. This time it was the other way around. Serves you right! I was downright dancing. Well jumping but it wasn't my fault I look like a butterfly with legs when I dance.

"Bu-"

"No buts, Mr. Kowalski. You go take a seat. Both of you are lucky Mr. Xander has a little bit more time." She said as she started walking towards the door that said Elijah Xander in bold.

"Ms. Davidson, you're up"

I could feel my stomach feeling queasy. The nerves were finally getting to me. All the what if questions where making my palms sweat. I could feel beads of sweat rushing down my face. The time slowed and everything went in slow motion as I got up to dust myself. I closed my eyes for a minute as I mustered the courage to walk up to the door.

"But Edna, its not my fault she is late. I don't want any more interviewees. Send them back." I heard a deep voice say. It sounded so familiar yet I couldn't identify it. Oh wait, I shouldn't be listening to their conversation but my curiosity got the best of me. It ain't gonna hurt anyone. I walk a bit closer to the door to hear better. 

"Eli, I will not tell those poor kids to go back. You will interview them at once. They might just turn out to be better than the others you interviewed." She said.

"But-"

"No buts! You will interview them.  Everyone else found their associate. Every other senior partner. You need to do this. Or everything you worked towards will be flushed down the drain." She said.

"I-" He was getting schooled by Edna.

"I'm sure you'll have a good time interviewing the girl. She is something alright." Edna said.    I heard footsteps coming towards the door and moved few steps backwards to make it like I did not hear the conversation.

"You can go in now, Ms. Davidson" She said with a wink before mouthing the words "Break a leg". 

Thank you! I mouthed back.

I walk in. The sound of my heartbeat echoing in the room. I swallowed the big lump in my throat.

"You're late." He said. His voice was so deep and powerful it made my knees weak. I just wanted to cower away and stay in a corner and not come back.

I look up from the floor, the same time he looks up. Our eyes meet and shock passes through both our faces.

"SpongeBob?"

"Mr. Julio?"

Standing in front of a huge window in his office waiting anxiously for a reply. Time slowed down and there was pin drop silence in the room until I heard the chair push against the floor before the room was filled with footsteps.  The reflection of him walking closer made my breath hitch. His hot breath against my neck sending a shiver down my spine.

"You're right" He whispered huskily trailing his finger down my spine.  His lips pulled into a smirk before his ocean blue orbs changed to a misty grey. 

With a click, the blinds closed.

"Son, what happened to the job I gave you?"
The young man hands an envelope to the older man who smiles upon reading the papers in it.
"An exclusive, huh? Great job! When will this take effect?" 
"Today. I'm leaving after breakfast to have an interview with Hyacinth." Lester answers his father's questions while eating fried rice with hotdog and egg, paired with brewed coffee, on the side.
"SkyMu is really making a lot of noise ever since the change in their president. But when will they reveal the person behind all of these?" His father curiously asks. 
"I'm not really sure, either. She told me she's just waiting for an appropriate time." 
"It means she's waiting for a bigger event or bigger achievement before she reveals her name in public." Lester's faster laughs out loud after saying those words.
"What's so funny, Father?"
"She's ambitious thus she wants a name for herself with her achievement instead of being called someone's wife in the business world." The elder explains.
The remark of his father makes Lester recall the time he had spent with Yve. Indeed, Yve is an independent woman. As for being ambitious, he's not that sure. At school, Yve has achieved the top seat and all because of her hard work.
His father has stopped laughing and looks at Lester intently waiting for him to express his thoughts. 
"Father, do you think, it's a good idea to continue this partnership in the future?" Lester looks at him with a very confused face. 
"So far, it's fine. But for your safety, have the project-based exclusivity first since we really don't know yet her full abilities. We are already earning a lot from getting exclusive rights on Mr. Gray's group of companies." His father explains what he has to say on this issue. 
After eating their breakfast, Lester leaves the dining table and gets his things before driving his car towards SkyMu office where he is scheduled to meet Hyacinth's manager. 
Once the scheduled time comes, Lester finds himself on the way to the location with Hyacinth's manager. 
"Are the questions fine?"
"I think so. I didn't hear any complaints or special requests from Hyacinth." 
"I see." 
Soon after, they find themselves inside Hyacinth's house and where a team of SkyMu's video team is already setting up the needed equipment.
In the meantime, Yve has finally wake up. But her head is really banging in pain. 
"Awake now, my dear little drunkard?" Vince smiles at their doorstep with a cup of warm tea in his hand. 
"I'm not a drunkard." Yve pouts and tries to sit down on the bed but her headache is stopping her.
"How come you're fine? You didn't drink a lot last night?" 
"Well, I did. I asked Chrysthe to pick us up while Jaleb was with Mom last night. Here, drink this tea to make you feel a little better." Vince answers her question and hands her the tea after helping her sit on the bed properly.
"Thanks." Yve drinks the warm tea and it really helps her lower the pain at least a notch.
"You can sleep more if you like."
"I can't. Hyacinth is having an interview with Lester this morning. I need to be ready for updates." 
"Don't worry too much. Lester is the interviewer and Hyacinth is the interviewee. There are both good people and well experienced in their field. I sent Sylvan though just in case." Vince explains as he tries to convince her to sleep more. 
"Ok. Wake me up if anything comes up, okay? Also I need to review my lessons for the upcoming major exam. " Yve reminds him.
"I got it. I will wake you up by lunch. But that time, I think your hangover has subsided. Now, drink that tea up until the last drop." 
Yve does what Vince told her partly because she knows that she will not be very productive because of her hangover so might as well sleep. Once Yve's breathing has stabilized, Vince leaves her inside their room and heads to the study where he can read some reports from Team Bravo.
Speaking of Team Bravo's works, Steve is having a lot of trouble because of them. Ever since he landed the other day, he hasn't slept on his bed. 
"We need to make sure that we win this bid." Steve informs his team.
"We understand, sir!"
Once he receives the papers and final project proposal they will present, Steve adjourns the meeting and heads back to his hotel. Since he came earlier than planned, his room is not yet finished. So he had no choice but to stay in a hotel room. To make it a little bit convenient, the hotel he stays at is a closer to their company building.
Back in the country, Jenny wakes up and does her exercise routine to keep her body healthy and in tip-top shape. 
"Good morning, dear. What do you want for breakfast?" Her nanny asks her seeing her in their private gym.
"Just whip up the usual breakfast. Please bring them in my room and place it on desk beside my study table." Jenny replies to her nanny with a wide smile on her face.
"I will. But your brother's secretary called and said he will visit around lunch time just to check on you. So lunch has to be in the dining table." 
"I see. Thanks, Nanny." Jenny smiles and starts her exercise. Seeing her do so, her nanny leaves her alone inside. 
Eating in her room is also one of the things that she can only do because her brother isn't around.
In Hyacinth's place, the interview space has been set up as Lester and Hyacinth take their seats.
"Hello, Miss Hyacinth."
"I'm Lester. Thank you for this interview."
"You're welcome. Thank you for the wonderful questions. I'm excited for this interview."
"Thank you. Please take care of me."
"The same way, please take care of me." 
The camera starts rolling and Lester proceeds with the interview. 
Sylvan is on the side observing her Lady Boss' friend. He's a journalist but his interviewing skills aren't bad either. He isn't shy or nervous in front of the camera and a star like Hyacinth.
'Seems like there's nothing to worry. Lester will also nail the exclusive interviews for this project.' Sylvan's train of thought is broken when he felt Hyacinth's secretary pushes his elbow a little bit. 
"Thank you for this care and consideration to Hyacinth."
"No need to thank me. I believe our president fully appreciates Hyacinth's worth and just giving it back to her." Sylvan nonchalantly responds to the manager before leaving her. 
The manager tries to follow her but stops when Sylvan pulls out his phone,
"Yes, Miss Yve?" 
When Sylvan heard her footsteps walking away from him, he puts his phone back to his pocket and releases a deep sigh.
'Lady Boss, please forgive me for using your name without permission just to avoid the lady. I promise to serve and protect you to the best of my skills.' Sylvan recites in his mind and makes an oath as if Yve is standing and waiting in front of him. 


Today is another busy day for me. Work and home are the only places I go to for the past 3 years. The end of THAT relationship ended my happy, easy-going life. But then, when I think about it, it was not his fault but mine. My friends would tell me that I need to move on. I HAVE MOVED ON. It's just I don't want any side trips anymore in my life. I have my dreams and I am working hard for it. Little did I know what the destiny has installed for me.

"Mom, I still love her. She ended the relationship without any valid reason and I didn't agree."

"But son, what if the reason is that she doesn't love you anymore? Isn't that a reason valid enough for you?"

"I have to know it this time, mom. I did try to go out on dates but still failed. I think meeting her again will help me know what is happening with me."

"I guess I have no other choice. But remember, don't let her disrupt your plans and the family's business."

"I know, mom. Steph, book my flight to the Philippines tomorrow."

"Vincent! Why are you in so much rush?!"

"Because I believe that the early bird gets the worm."

Addie woke up in unfamiliar room, she was was slightly disoriented for a while then she suddenly remembered Simoun. She hurriedly went to his room to check up on him, he was still asleep. She went near him and gave his cheeks a gentle stroke. 
Addie laid down beside Simoun and hugged him from behind. A few minutes later she heard him moan a little while squinting his eyes.
Addie? What are you doing here? He asked while go through his hair 
You were mighty drunk last night, if you remember? Do you want to talk about it?
No forget everything that I said, it's nothing.
Simoun it's not nothing,you saw your dad after so many years. 
Drop it Addie, he left me and didn't even recognize I was his son, I mean for f*cks sakes I was a teenager when he left! and he doesn't have the decency to even remember me!!! So Addie there is nothing to talk about here, drop it!

Simoun angrily closed his bedroom door and went out of his room.
Addie froze he never saw Simoun that angry, even when he punched Frank he just walked away. Addie not knowing the entire house, explored it in the hopes of eventually finding Simoun. 
She saw a dark red mahogany door with the R as it's door knob, intrigued she opened it and saw Simoun

He just looked at me and continued whatever he was doing.
I hugged him and kissed his shoulder blades. 
I'm sorry I didn't meant to push your buttons Simoun. It's just that you saw your dad again, isn't that a good thing? You were close at some point, he can answer all the questions that you've been thinking ever since he left.
Addie, he said while he turned held her hands while looking at her intently.

It's not that easy I mean he left me to be raised by that woman. He wasn't perfect but he was not the type of person who never returns, let alone abandon me. There was a time that he would spend time with me, and eventually became distant for what ever reason I don't know. What I didn't expect is for him to just turn his back on me without any explanation at all. It left a big hole in my life Addie.

I understand Simoun, remember my dad left me too but he wasn't really a good father to begin with anyways. He was always stiff, cold and distant then he just gave me away like some old toys.
Fathers eh? They were suppose to eh our first heroes but look the irony? He slightly chuckled.
Let's forget about that Addie. 
I smiled and look around the room.

It's my studio, I like to take pictures Addie.
When I was a teenager, well actually as I was growing up my grandma gave me a camera and I've always been drawn it. Then one day my private tutor informed my mom that I've been focusing all my energy some where else, so when she found out about my hobby she destroyed every picture that I have taken,she had it burned in front of me and it was awful Addie. I could never forget that day, I told her that it was my dream but what she said really  stung "dreaming is for people who don't have a legacy to follow. You don't have the right to dream you're a Redforth so start acting like one"
I could never understand her with her legacy, business and about being great. 
So after that incident my grandmother build me this studio where I can freely hang and display my pictures.

Everything belonged in a certain time period but are still worth having. She went to the portrait section and saw camera on display.

The middle age guy gently pulled it out from the the glass cabinet.
This is the Pentax K1000 it was very popular back in the day, it was basic heavy duty and didn't make your wallet scream, this is usually the first camera you give to aspiring photographers. He said with enthusiasm.

Yeah I am, he's a great guy he's very supportive and I couldn't ask for more. 
Speaking of support he is one of the owners of ABE publishing correct? Would you say that being in a relationship with him was an edge for you? 
Well I wouldn't put it that way.
Addie put on the spot with that question.
I was already contacted by ABE before we became an item, and I might just add that ABE really takes care of their authors which enables them to write in an environment where their creativity can even foster more.

Amy smiled of course your a talented writer and it shows with your work, and I'm looking forward for your follow up book.

She check her clock and it was already 11:58 she called Simoun but he wasn't picking up. She tried it again and heard his sleepy sexy voice.

Can you come see me outside, I pushed doorbell and its seems that you staff is already asleep.

Simoun went outside and saw Addie holding a cupcake with a lit candle.

It has something called a 'camera' that can take the image of anything or record the things happening around a person. The image was called a 'picture' and the recording was called a 'video'. But not only that, sPhones have things in them called 'Apps'.
Apps were small icons on the screen of an sPhone. Each one has different functionality. The most famous ones were - the [Skynet] where people could search about everything and anything; [TalkUs] a call app where people could call others, send them messages, and even directly talk to them thru something called video call; [VMall] where people could buy and order products from different companies and individuals; [Quill&Ink] where people could post the novels they've written and people everywhere could read it; [VideoFlix] where people could post videos and watch videos posted by others; lastly, and probably the most often used one, [Jiffy] where people could post the everyday things that was happening to them, which could include pictures and short video clips. Every user's profile has a 'follow' feature. Anyone who clicked it could pay attention to that person.
The first time buyers have to register an account on the [SilverCorp] app. The process of registration included putting the person's fingerprint on the app. So a person could only have one account. And that account was used to register to the other apps. It was made so to avoid the creation of fake accounts and identity theft. It could also provide more privacy and security to the users.
The products and other services provided by the sPhones, like the things in the [VMall] for example, could be bought using cyber coins. You could have cyber coins by buying load cards. The cheapest load card cost 100 gold coins which could be converted to 100 cyber coins.
Almost everyone in the world probably have their own sPhones. Even the poor people. Because the cheapest one only cost 5,000 gold coins. Even though the pictures and videos taken by it were poor in quality, it was enough as long as you could use it.
sPhones brought an unprecedented cultural revolution and change in people's way of life. Nowadays, people prefered to shop thru [VMalls] than go outside and look for the things they need. So businessmen have no choice but to follow the trend and set up shops in [VMall]. Novelist could easily earn money thru [Quill&Ink] by gathering readers and letting them buy the chapters of the stories they're posting. The same could be said for people posting videos in [VideoFlix]. They were even acting troupes shooting dramas and posting it on the app.
The younger generation completely embraced the change. They loved it. Socializing with people all around the world. They found it novel and interesting. But the much more older generation had an opposite reaction. Especially the old priests from the Temple of Gaia - the major religion in the world that worshipped the goddess Gaia. For some reason, they found it blasphemous. But even so, they couldn't stop the rise of its popularity. And now, they're part of everyone's everyday life.
All of these could be credited to one company - Silver Corporation.
It was founded seven years ago. The first batch of sPhones they produced could only be bought in Amexem. But slowly, their production spread from countries to countries. And now, there's probably only a few places in the world that didn't sell an sPhone. In just seven years, Silver Corporation managed to integrate itself in society. Now it's probably the company with the highest revenue in the world. Some might think it's a miracle but really, it's just pure genius.
It was no secret that many tried to make a copy of sPhones. But even if they tried to disassemble it and study each and every part, no one could seem to understand how it really worked. Even the famous alchemists couldn't figure it out. Everyone knew that the creator of sPhones was the founder of Silver Corporation. So really, maybe they should understand first how the mind of this genius worked before trying to copy his creation.
And now at this time, almost everyone was staring at the screens of their sPhones, waiting for the live video feed of the official channel of Silver Corporation in [VideoFlix]. Just the other day, the official [Jiffy] account of Silver Corporation announced that they will post a live interview of the founder of their company in their [VideoFlix] channel and it will be hosted by Aurum Blackbourne.
Who was Aurum Blackbourne? She's the most followed individual in [Jiffy]. Partly because she's the spokesperson and face of Silver Corporation. Ever since the founding of the company, they would release a video every time they make a new version of sPhone. And everytime, the star of the video was always Aurum Blackbourne. But that's not the only reason she was loved by many. It was because she's as beautiful as an angel. Long, flowing golden hair, porcelain white skin, and a pair of amber eyes. Who doesn't love beauty, right?
But the main reason everyone was patiently waiting for the upload of this live video was because they could finally see the mysterious founder of Silver Corporation. In the seven years since its conception, he had never shown himself in public. He didn't even have his own [Jiffy] account. No one even knew his name! But that would all change after this interview.
Suddenly the screen flashed and the familiar silver 'S' logo appeared then it was followed by the smiling face of Aurum Blackbourne. Her golden hair was in a high ponytail tied by a long sky blue ribbon. Her pink lips has a gentle smile. She was wearing a white dress with a flowing skirt that reached just above her knees. At the age of 14, she was already 169 cm. Add that to her grace and temperament and no one would even see her as a kid.
Aurum smiled at the camera. "Hi everyone!"
Because of her appearance, the comments on the video was full off; [Ah, my goddess is so beautiful!], [Hello, goddess!], and [Marry me, my angel!].
"I know a lot of you has been waiting for this moment, so I won't delay this any longer. Please welcome, the founder of Silver Corporation and my beloved twin brother, Argent Blackbourne!"

[Wait- did I just hear it wrong? Did my goddess just say her 'twin brother'?]
[Upstairs you're not the only one, I also heard it.]

On the screen, a tall teenage boy came into view. He was wearing a crisp white shirt under a simple blue suit, paired with black slacks that perfectly showcased his long legs. His short silver hair looked particularly soft. His amethyst like eyes were surrounded by thick silver eyelashes. To say that he was handsome was not accurate. It's probably more appropriate to call him beautiful. But despite his beauty, no one would associate this person to the word 'feminine'. Because he was exuding so much air of indifference. As if no one was worthy to be in his sight.
[Shit! Is this pretty boy really the founder?]
[Ah! Ah! Ah! The founder is so beautiful!]
[I think everyone's focus is wrong. If he's the founder and the twin of Aurum, then he's also only 14 years old. That means he started making sPhones when he was seven!]

"It has nothing to do with age. Doing something like that all depends on a person's brain. I happened to be extremely smart. So even at seven, making the design of the sPhone was pretty easy for me," he said it in a very matter-of-factly tone that you couldn't help but believe that what he said was nothing but the truth.

The interview continued for twenty minutes. During that period, people constantly commented on the comment section. Until the interview reached its final minute.

"Only one thing." He looked straight at the camera. "Thank you."
He still looked indifferent but no one could deny the gratitude in his words.

The application for the Osborne Talent Training Program is going smoothly, after all, Lisi 's achievements are placed there.

All of the Black Stars felt enraged, not only because their Boss Iris was being insulted, but also because at the betrayal. The fact that they had been sitting together with a traitor all this time and treating him as their comrade left a nasty taste in their mouths.

They immediately banded together and scolded the traitor. They felt more furious now than when they quarreled earlier with Maestro Liu Wei's two students. Even as they were angry at him, they were also angry at themselves. It felt as if they failed to uphold the unity of Black Stars that they were so proud of.

Watching another commotion happen in the audience, Feng Jiu was dismayed. This was her show and it didn't sit well with her that things were going out of her control. The director, however, was filled with excitement. He fought the urge to rub his hands together. He instructed the cameramen to record everything.

'This will definitely make for a good show,' he thought. 

All the drama in one episode! He was already fantasizing about the high ratings the show would rake in after this episode aired.

As for Iris, she watched everything with cold eyes. She stood up, looking directly at the crazed man. Her aura changed. She was now like an empress whose decree was being questioned by one of her rebellious subjects.

The crazed man flinched at her heavy stare. "W-what?"

"Thank you very much for your past support of my music," Iris spoke to him in a clear voice. It wasn't loud but it was still heard throughout the studio. Her tone was cold and unyielding, giving off pressure not only to the man but also to everyone else. "However, I don't owe you anything outside my career as an artist. You used your money to buy my music, not my freedom or my life. I am not your slave. Just as you and everyone else here have the right to enter a proper relationship, I also have the same right to be with my fiancé."

Everyone was silent now. They were all listening to her. Even the crazed man stopped shouting.

Iris continued, her tone becoming gentle yet also determined. "I assure all of you that being engaged or married will NOT affect my ability to create and share my music with you. In fact, I feel very inspired right now. If you can't accept my relationship, then I can only thank you for your past support to me. I love my man and won't break up with him just because you asked me to. And to those who are still supporting me up to this point, you have my deepest gratitude. Always know that I appreciate all of you. Even when I'm married and have my own family, I'll continue to work hard to give you the best music that I can create to pay back all of the support you constantly give me. True Black Stars will always have a big place in my heart."

Her speech touched all of the Black Stars. Even the crazed man was affected. After all, he was a Black Star up until a few moments ago.

"Don't worry, boss! We support you! People like him aren't true fans! We are! They're just sick psychos who have holes in their brains! We'll follow you until the end!"

The crazed man looked conflicted. He wiped tears and snot from his face.

It was the kind of atmosphere that easily overwhelmed people. The feeling of devotion the Black Stars had for Iris was like a living entity influencing all the surrounding individuals. Iris was their queen. All of these trials they were experiencing together with her only reinforced their loyalty towards their queen.

The interview officially ended in an emotional note. It was a roller coaster of surprises both good and bad, but most would agree that it was a great interview with lots of juicy details.

After the show, Iris chatted with Feng Jiu and Feng Wan. She discovered that the two madams were cousins. They invited her to eat dinner together but she regretfully declined. She felt drained after the interview. The two madams were understanding and let her go.

Inside the executive van, Iris called Maestro Ludovico De Luca on the phone while Dom was gushing about everything that happened during the interview with Jiang Ying Yue.

"Yes, Liwei is the one who informed me about the matter between you and Maestro Wei Liu," he told her, confirming her suspicion. "Maybe I should've revealed that you're my student earlier."

"No, Maestro. I don't want to be given special treatment because I'm your student. I want to gain achievements through my own abilities and not because of my connection to you." 

After the phone call, Iris closed her eyes to rest. She played with the diamond ring on her finger. So it really was Jin Liwei who called Maestro De Luca.

A soft smile lifted the corners of her lips. Everything she said about Jin Liwei during the interview was the truth. She loved him and wouldn't break up with him even if some of her fans turned their backs on her.

A few nights later, the latest episode of "A Closer Look with Feng Jiu" finally aired on TV. Many people tuned in because they all wanted to hear what Iris had to say regarding all of the issues surrounding her.

The episode showed all of the major incidents during the taping. It was the first time the show featured the audience so heavily. It was as if the audience kept on spitting out problems after problems for Iris to face.

People actively discussed as they watched the show.

"Whoa! Did all of these really happen? I feel like I'm watching a drama instead of a talk show!"

"I know, right? The events are so gripping and exciting that I can't even make myself run to the toilet to relieve myself because I don't want to miss anything."

"I checked Maestro De Luca's website and Iris' performances are really posted there. Ahaha! Did you see the reactions of Maestro Liu Wei's two students? Priceless! I wish their maestro was together with them. I would love to see the old man's reaction as well!"

"Maestro Liu had been busy lambasting Iris to the reporters lately, calling her a liar every chance he gets. Let's see what he has to say after his face got slapped by Maestro De Luca himself."

"Serves him right. He thinks too highly of himself. Just like what Maestro De Luca said during the interview, shame on him for putting borders on music when there should be none."

"Wow! Just look at all these gadgets!", Becca gushed upon seeing all the technology in front of her. 

"Well this is nice, how much is this?", Samantha pointed at the latest product that the Hozzby brand is launching that day. 

They were currently at a shopping center where the event is held and there were a lot of people looking around and appreciating the products displayed. 

One of the Hozzby staff came to them and greeted Becca, "Hi, Ms. Wise. I'm Lori, I spoke to you on the phone. Thank you for coming today."

"Oh Hello, Lori it's nice to meet you. Congratulations on the product launch.", she greeted.

"Thank you!"

"This is my friend, by the way, her name's Samantha Kim.", Becca introduced.

The staff looked at Samantha and smiled though there was a hint of wonder in her eyes. She was trying to remember if she has seen or heard her somewhere because her name and face looked familiar. But she didn't want to make mistakes so she just kept her greeting in a polite tone, "It's nice to meet you, Ms. Kim. Thanks for coming." 

Lori turned to Becca again and spoke, "Ms. Wise, if you could please follow me, we have prepared a gift for you today.", she gestured for Becca to follow her.

Becca who was already used to this trend where brands give her gifts, followed Lori to a corner; Samantha also followed suit.

 
"As a thank you for coming to the launch, we are giving you a unit of the new Hozzby laptop. We hope that you like it.", Lori handed a huge bag.

"Oh wow! It's very generous of you, thank you very much. Although…", Becca thought about it. She actually just bought a new laptop a month ago and didn't think that she would need a new unit. The product that Lori gave her was a heavy duty one and she felt that it would be such a waste if it's not going to get used often. Turning her attention to Samantha, she handed the huge bag to her.


"You told me you were planning to buy a new one to replace your broken laptop. Why don't you have this instead? I think with programming, the specs are enough right?" Becca then turned to Lori, "Sorry, Lori… as much as I want to keep the laptop, the truth is, I just bought one and my friend here would probably be able to use it more than I do. That's okay, right?"

Lori who was feeling the refusal of the gift at first became curious when she heard about programming. Her gaze turned to Samantha again and she tilted her head, "You program?"

Samantha shyly smiled, suddenly noticing the attention was shifted to her. "Yes, I do."

"Lori, Samantha is Trident's CEO. I thought it would be nice that I brought her here since she knows about computers.", Becca proudly announced.

Lori's brows scrunched up and then her eyes widened in surprise. "Y-you're T-trident's CEO?", she hurriedly took her phone, not waiting for Samantha's response and quickly typed on the search bar. In a split second, Samantha's face appeared along with the articles from the recent events that happened which was related to her company.

She looked up to Samantha again and she gaped, not knowing what to say. The truth is, before Lori applied for Hozzby brand, she had tried to apply for Trident but she wasn't able to pass the preliminary round of interview and testing.

Looking at the beautiful woman in front of her, she couldn't believe that she was facing the boss of the company that she had wanted to get in right after graduating college. She was star struck! The intelligent and beautiful CEO of Trident was really standing before her.

"Ms. Lori?", Becca was waiting for her response but Lori was a bit distracted at that moment. "Is it okay if I give this to my friend instead?"

"It's really you.", she mumbled as she looked at the picture on her phone and then back to Samantha's face to confirm. Lori finally snapped out of her trance, "Oh of course! Of course! It would be an honor for us if Ms. Samantha Kim will accept the gift. We hope that you like it."

It was the first time for Samantha to receive such gifts in this way. At first, she just went there to accompany Becca with the product launch and maybe find a replacement for her broken laptop.

'My laptop. In which Daniel had damaged it with water. No wait, actually… I also allowed him to do that to me so it's not entirely his fault.', she thought to herself and a smile appeared on her face when she remembered what happened that night. 

Actually, she could've had the laptop fixed but she thought that it was time to upgrade since it was already a few years old. "Thank you very much, I will use it well.", she expressed her gratitude.

The staff left the two of them and both Becca and Samantha went back to the products display. Becca turned the camera on once again and naturally recorded the event and herself as she documented what's currently happening. She faced Samantha, "Is it okay if I show you on camera and maybe ask your thoughts about the product launch? It's okay if you're not comfortable with it."


Samantha thought about it for a second before she decided, "You know what? Why not! It could be fun!"

Becca smiled brightly, "Awesome.". She turned the camera to face the lens to them and started her spiel, "I'd like you to meet a friend of mine, Ms. Samantha Kim. She's...", Becca started to introduce Samantha and she felt nervous but was also quite excited to talk to the camera. 

"Hi everyone.", Samantha greeted and waved to the lens, she imagined Becca's followers looking at her at that moment though of course, the video is yet to be uploaded.

Becca started to interview Samantha and she answered flawlessly like an expert in the field. In which, Samantha actually is quite knowledgeable about it. Although the terms that she used as she described the new laptop that they were talking about were not very familiar to Becca, Samantha was quite a natural with her explanation that it was easy to understand. If Becca were to decide, she probably already have bought the laptop; she was sold!

Just as they ended their mini interview, Samantha's phone rang. It was from Daniel. She excused herself from Becca and found a spot where she could talk comfortably.

"Hey… it's nice to hear from you. How's your trip?", she spoke as soon as she answered the call. Her voice was energetic and Daniel noticed it right away which made him smile.

"Yeah, just got off the meeting. You sound happy, are you outside?"

"Yes. I'm with Becca at Hozzby's product launch. Honey, I got a free laptop!", she proudly told him the news.

"Oh, that's great! Sorry about the other one.", he apologized when he remembered. He had actually planned to buy her a new one but hadn't gotten around to it yet. 

"Don't worry about it. When are you coming home? I miss you already.", she confessed.

"I will see you first thing tomorrow. Be good, okay?"

"I am always good!", she protested and heard Daniel's laugh on the other line. "Come home soon, honey."

"I will. Take care.", he acknowledged before he cut the call.

Right after the phone call got cut off, Samantha heard a familiar voice that called her from behind. The person whom she didn't want to meet anymore. 

"Samantha.", Andrew called her.

Just when she turned her head to look at him, Andrew pulled her close and kissed her suddenly on the lips without warning; she couldn't get away from his hold so she just let herself loose and kissed him back. And they lived happily ever after!
