If the threshold of terror that a human being could support was to be split into ten levels, Liu Gang felt like he was in a level one hundred scare. He did not know when he fainted; he just knew that there was a sense of bliss that he did not expect when he fainted. "If possible, I just want to sleep forever and not open my eyes again…"
Bang!
The room door was pushed open, and numerous ghosts rushed into the room. Then they separated and stood on both sides of the room. Footsteps came from afar, and Chen Ge, still wearing Mr. Bai's ID card, walked over. He had left the camera outside the red campus, and now he was only holding a phone in his hand.
"One minute and three seconds, you guys have to try harder to reduce the time you need to cause people to faint to under one minute." Chen Ge walked to stand before Liu Gang. "The red campus is very similar to the world behind the door. It is best used as the last trump card, so it is for the best that the visitors do not stay here for too long."
Even though they were from different camps, even though they were supposed to be competitors, Chen Ge still cared about Liu Gang. "The visitation time is sixty minutes. There is still time left. Help me bring them to the nurse's office, and let Dr. Wei take a look at them."
Moving his broken arm, Ol' Bai dragged Liu Gang out of the classroom. After giving some more advice to his new employees, Chen Ge turned to the red high heels. "The resentment and hatred in the visitors' hearts are the nutrients that you need. This is the most efficient method to drain the negative emotions from their hearts, and it can be repeated many times. I am not advising you to stay—I am just telling you these things so that even if you do not wish to stay here any longer, you will be able to take good care of yourself."
Seeing the lack of response from the red high heels, Chen Ge turned and left.
When he reached the nurse's office, Chen Ge heard the complaint from Dr. Wei before he even entered the door. He astutely stood outside the door and waited awhile before entering it.
"Dr. Wei, how are they doing?"
"I have been wondering, are you the owner of a Haunted House or a hospital? The visitors came to play, and you have to send them for a full physical checkup before allowing them to leave?"

"Never mind that. The guy called Big Ghost could hear our voices because there was a shred of lingering spirit that was hiding inside his ear. When the spirit came to our Haunted House to visit, he was almost scared out of his wits. Under the persuasion of our group of doctors, the lingering spirit has finally departed to a better place."
"I knew I could count on you to make things right, Dr. Wei. You only need to talk to him to cure him of his illness."
"Move it and get them out of here as fast as you can!"
With the help from the employees, all twelve visitors were sent to the entrance to the School of Afterlife. Then Chen Ge mobilized a few carts from the underground morgue and carted them out from the underground scenario. Seeing the row of fainted visitors, Chen Ge felt a bit headache as well. If this scene was witnessed by the other visitors, it would probably give them quite a scare. Taking out his phone, Chen Ge called Zhang Jingjiu. "Ol' Zhang, have you recorded Liu Gang's livestream?"
"Don't worry, boss. From the beginning to the end, I have all of it recorded." Zhang Jingjiu was very professional.

The sun shone down, and the sunlight gilded the rims of the carts. They were like pairs of hands that caressed the sleeping faces gently and warmly.
"They're out! Boss Chen is out!"
"He's out! He's out! He's pushing the carts out of the Haunted House!"
"He's carrying the visitors who visited the four-star scenario earlier? My God! Three of them have fainted!"
The visitors who were still lining up exploded. The visitors who had bought their tickets and were ready to enter the Haunted House abandoned their queue and all rushed over to look.
"Move aside please! Please do not block the path! Give them some air!"
When he heard the sound of wheels, Uncle Xu felt a bad feeling growing in his heart. He rushed over through the crowd as fast as he could, but he was too late. The reporters who were waiting had already gotten to their news before he did.
"Is the four-star scenario so scary?"
"What happened to three visitors when they were inside your Haunted House?"
"Boss Chen, please stay for an interview!"
Chen Ge ignored them and waved at Uncle Xu. "Uncle, help me find some workers to carry these three to the resting hall."
"Can't you just hand me the whole cart?"
"I still have the use for the cart."
Three visitors were moved by the theme park workers to the resting hall. The commotion around Chen Ge's Haunted House only grew bigger. There were layers upon layers of visitors trying to see what was up. This scene had certainly satisfied the curiosity of countless visitors. The creaking sound returned as Chen Ge pushed the cart back into the Haunted House. Half a minute later, he returned with another cart of visitors.
"There are three more of them‽"
"The four-star scenario wouldn't have wiped them all out, right‽ More than ten people visited the scenario at the same time!"
Seeing Chen Ge walk out, the corner of Uncle Xu's eyes were twitching. He whispered, "Now… you still can't give me the use of the cart, can you?"
"Indeed." Chen Ge nodded. "I need to use it two more times."
Chen Ge answered calmly like he was talking about the weather, but the visitors who heard him had shock travel through them like ripples.
"All the visitors that entered the four-star scenario have been knocked unconscious! This is madness!"
"When I heard that the boss split the difficulty into levels, I thought that was just for him to scam more money out of us, but now I realize how ignorant I was. Er… Can I exchange this ticket for Mu Yang High School? I think I will just visit a one-star scenario today."
The visitors were happily discussing among themselves while Chen Ge silently pushed the cart back into the Haunted House. With the creaking and cracking of the wheels, he took two more trips to remove the rest of the visitors from the haunted house. Other than Chen Ge, the other party who was busiest at the scene were the doctors. Initially, many visitors did not understand why a first aid corner was stationed next to the Haunted House, but they all got it now. Handing the cart over to the doctors, Chen Ge held Liu Gang's camera and stood before the Haunted House. Until that moment, the camera was still operating.
"Would everyone please quiet down for a moment!" Chen Ge aimed the camera right at himself and then connected his phone to the large screen that was playing the promotional video for the Haunted House outside at the resting hall.
"Yesterday, a famous streamer called Liu Gang did everything he could to slander my Haunted House." Chen Ge pressed the play button on his phone, and the big screen started to show the short video that had been uploaded by Liu Gang yesterday on the internet. Liu Gang, who held the folding fan, showed pictures of Night of the Living Dead on the screen and berated the Haunted House with a face filled with condescension. "A backward scenario like this can be called a Haunted House? Really?"
"He used the pictures of this Haunted House taken from years ago to mislead his audience, and then I reached out to him on the internet to make a bet, challenging him to come visit my Haunted House. If, after his visit, he still manages to say that my Haunted House is not scary, then I will livestream my personal apology to him through the internet. However, if he thinks the visit is scary, then he will need to officially apologize to New Century Park for his defamation and place the apology statement at the front page of his account."
After saying that, Chen Ge stopped the doctors, who were moving past him, and turned the camera to Liu Gang, who was lying on the stretcher. The man's pale face appeared on the big screen.
"Action speaks louder than words. In Liu Gang's current condition, I doubt he will be able to give an official apology. Actually, I did not expect him to be so fragile. Hearing what he had to say about my Haunted House on the internet, I increased the difficulty slightly because I thought he was going to be someone hard to scare." "We'll see you tomorrow at 9 am. Good night."
The video ended there. Chen Ge took the camera and walked to Liu Gang, who was unconscious with white foam around his mouth. He took out his phone to take a look.
"It is about 10:10 am. Brother Gang is about to be sent to the hospital. If there is anything you guys from the livestream wish to tell him, I will be the first to help you relay your messages."
Seeing the comments that filled up the screen, Chen Ge's lips was turning up. He stood under the sun and felt the warmth on his skin. After Liu Gang was carried away by the doctor, Chen Ge did not switch off the camera. He turned the camera to the big screen outside the haunted House.
"Now that the issue with Liu Gang is over, it is time to talk about another person." He clicked on his phone and clicked open the video that Zhang Jingjiu had sent him. "I was curious why Liu Gang would suddenly come after New Century Park while promoting the futuristic theme park so much in his video. Honestly, I was confused until I saw this person." Chen Ge pointed at Bai Buhui on the screen. "This gentleman here is the designer for the Haunted House at the futuristic theme park. He even carries the employee ID from the futuristic theme park with him. He came alongside Liu Gang, so they should be sent to the same hospital."
The video continued to play, and it soon reached the part where Bai Buhui's group was cornering the student couple. Small Ghost was agitated and grabbed the male student by his collar, and the students looked so afraid.
"I do not care how they slander or mock my Haunted House on the internet, but I will not allow them to injure my visitors at my Haunted House." Chen Ge pointed at the pair of students on the screen. "Thanks to the support from everyone, my Haunted House has survived to this day. The fact that they have purposely gone after other visitors has crossed the line. Tomorrow, I will personally go to the futuristic theme park to demand an explanation. It just so happens to that I heard they have also built a Haunted House. Tomorrow, I will go and visit it alone and livestream the whole process. Those who wish to know what happens, please follow my account."
Liu Gang's livestream's popularity went through the roof. After all, this was the streamer being face-slapped by himself, and it was extremely rare that one would livestream until the stream ended up at the hospital. Chen Ge was going to ride this wave to help build hype for his visit tomorrow. His real target was the futuristic theme park. The Haunted House was the specialty of New Century Park. If this specialty was taken away, New Century Park had no chance of surviving. Therefore, Chen Ge decided to nip it at the bud, not giving the enemy any chance. New Century Park had been in business for more than a decade; not many were in favor of it. To save this theme park, Chen Ge had to give it his all.
Liu Gang's livestream ended then. Chen Ge looked around, but everyone had already fainted, so he did not know who to hand the camera to. In the end, he decided to place it inside the staff breakroom. After Chang Gu woke up, perhaps he could use it in his movie making. All the visitors were scared unconscious; the Haunted House's four-star scenario turned into an urban legend. Everyone was curious about what the inside of a four-star scenario looked like, but the problem was that everyone who visited it had fainted, so there was no one to ask. The main problem was, for other Haunted Houses on the market, one could send people inside it to know their secrets, but no one dared challenge Chen Ge's four-star scenario. Even those who had survived three-star scenarios had second thoughts. They were old fans of the Haunted House, and they did not believe Chen Ge when he said that the difficulty had only been hiked up a little bit.


The hearse with the weird odor slowed to a stop before the entrance. The sound of pebbles could be heard bouncing on the ceiling. There were footsteps coming from the corridor, and there seemed to be someone sawing next door. The door knob to the room rattled slightly, and the faucet in the bathroom kept dripping even though it had been screwed shut. There was a rubber ball that rolled on its own underneath the bed. Wet footsteps started to surface one after another on the floor. 
At 3 am, Chen Ge held a cleaver in his hand as he hid beside the room heater. The call he was trying to make was finally answered. "Landlord, is this what you meant by 'the house can be a little crowded at night'‽"

WARNING!: The following story is full of cringe and is written purely for fun. I don't have anything to do so I decided to write this, it has 8th grade level writing so if you're okay with that then proceed.


It's the 24th of October, Halloween. My friends and I decided to have fun while school hasn't started yet.

After chatting on discord for a while, me and my friends decided to go to a haunted house for shits and giggles. Our group consist of all boys in the age of 15-16.

The leader of the group, Bryan, decided that the haunted house we were going to is in Crescent Ln, we chatted for a bit before doing our own stuff.

I went to the grocery store to buy a few things to make our trip to the haunted house fun, I bought a few masks for me and my friends to try and scare the people working in the haunted house. I bought an air horn, and some mint candy.

I got back at around 5:00 pm, we plan to meet at 9:00 pm so I still have a lot of time to waste. While waiting for time to pass, I decided to clean the house to atleast be useful.

9:00 pm, I went back to the mall and bought a clown outfit, with my savings, even though I'm broke and can't even afford my meal, I'm going all out just to scare the shit out of those guys.

I wore the clown outfit paired with the mask I bought and went out of the house, let's not talk about how I got permission from my parents to go out late at night.

Because my friends and I don't have a car, we walked to the place we agreed to meet up, Crescent Ln. I walked for about 15 minutes and arived at Crescent Ln, I checked my phone to see where they are but couldn't find them anywhere.

[I'm here, where are you guys?]

[*No reply*]

[Yeah, fucking ditch me!]

[We're already inside, we're just waiting for you.]

[*Like emoji*]

I closed my phone and put it back in my pocket, I surveyed the area for a bit and found a creepy looking house. The house looked old and has a few trees growing inside of it. "Woah, the haunted house looks so real!"

*Ding* *Ding* *Ding*

I opened my phone and got a ton of messages, 
[Where the fuck are you bro?]

[C'mon, we're next in line!]

[I'm outside, goodjob on picking the haunted house Bryan, this looks like a real haunted house.]

[No shit, hurry up!]

I walked towards the door and opened it, the door creeked as I opened it, upon opening, there's a straight hallway that leads to the backyard with rooms from side to side.

I searched the rooms but found no Bryan and co. After thirty minutes of searching, I stopped and decided to leave the area because of the creepy vibe I'm getting.

When I was about to leave the room, I heard footsteps in the hallway, my entirity grew stiff as the footsteps began to come closer, I hurriedly tried to find a closet or place to hide to and hid myself from the 'Person'

It can't be them and I'm sure of it, they think like nine-year-olds goddamnit, they can't orcestrate a prank as scary as this.

As I hid in the closet in the corner of the room, facing the door, the footsteps kept getting closer as the sound of metal and wood began to screech in the empty house.

The footsteps stopped and continued and it kept repeating, making me go crazy. My breath is getting heavy by the minute, I could hear my heartbeat getting faster as the person stopped at the room in front of where my room is.

It wore a bloody clown outfit, the same as mine and a frowning clown mask, his knife dripping with blood, as soon as it looked at the room I am in, my heart stopped for a moment but continued beating.

I looked at it in the small crack I made in the cabinet, he stared intensely at the cabinet as if it knows I'm here. My breathing kept getting louder and beads of sweat fell down on my forehead like a dam.

I know that he doesn't know I'm here but the longer he stares at the cabinet I am hiding in, the more I know that he knows I'm here, as if he were staring right into my soul.

A minute has passed and he decided to stop staring at the cabinet and instead search the room, any furniture that a human could hide in, he opens it and stabs it.

He's now right beside me, opening the chest right beside the cabinet I am hiding in. I could hear his breathing as if he is right beside me.

He closed the chest and grunted, he stood up and looked at the cabinet I am hiding in, he looked at it up and down. I stood in the cabinet, motionless, trying to stabilize my breathing as I am staring right at his mask covered with blood.

His hand is about to reach the knob of the cabinet, 20 meters, my heart started racing, 10 meters, my heart stopped for a second, 5 meters, I couldn't handle it anymore and pushed the cabinet door, making him fall. I ran towards the door but that damn clown locked it tight outside with a plank. I ran towards the backyard and what greeted me is people hanging in trees, I fell down on my butt as I stared at the scene.

The backyard is filled with people hanged using their intestines. 
Under a tree, two children could be seen happily eating a woman from her open stomach.

I froze for a full 10 seconds before I got back to my senses, I heard footsteps from inside the house getting faster. I tried to stand up but my legs won't let me, wood getting hit by a hard material could be heard from the inside, a few moments later, a fucking chainsaw could be heard. All I could think is 'How is this a haunted house?!'

Tears began to fall down from my face as I tried to get back on my feet, I ran as fast as I can towards the fence, the fucking clown is chasing not far behind me, I tried to hop out on the fence but the fence is too high and my leg got a huge cut from it.

I fell back to the ground but the clown is only a dozen feet away from me, the fucking clown had the audacity to slow walk like we're in a horror movie.

I don't know whether to laugh or cry at how slow he's walking towards me, but jokes on him, I got back on my feet and hopped on the fence to escape.

As I was walking away from the 'Haunted house.', I texted my friends to check where they are, I opened the discord app and tapped our group chat, 

[Yoo, that was scary as shit, too bad Alex didn't come.]

[No, it's a good thing he didn't come. He would've shat his pants, haha.]

[By the way, I was supposed to type Crescent St, but it typoed into Crescent Ln.]

As I read the their conversation, fear struck me as I read the last message Bryan types. I ran as fast as I can to my house, I even forgot that I got an injury on my foot

After hearing Li Du's decision, Lu Guan almost burst into tears.
"Boss, reconsider properly! What would your ancestors say? Think thrice before you act! Is that how they say it? Think thrice before you act, boss, that's a haunted house!"
Li Du rolled his eyes and said, "What ancestors? Be reasonable. Confucius said that. But you're right to say that I should think thrice before I act."
Seeing that Li Du started to reconsider as he frowned and thought about it, Lu Guan heaved a sigh of relief. He said softly to Brother Wolf and the rest, "That is really a haunted house. It's too d*mn scary!"
After being in deep thought for a few seconds, Li Du raised his head and said, "Alright, I'm done thinking about it thrice. I've decided to move in with you guys and check out what exactly is going on."
Lu Guan whimpered.
Things were worse than what Snyder had said. He had only given a brief introduction to the problem. The information that Lu Guan got was more in-depth. That was because he had a connection with Rose, who had a colleague who had transferred to Bellaire. From that colleague, Lu Guan had gotten more information.
Snyder had told Li Du that three unnatural deaths had taken place in the haunted house. However, in actual fact, there had been four. Two years before the old man had passed away, his wife had been murdered.
The murder case was similar to a locked-room mystery. The police have not been able to solve the case so far. The crime spot had been in the old couple's bedroom. The husband woke up and found that his wife's head was smashed by something.
Initially, the police thought that the husband was the culprit. However, evidence was not conclusive. Besides, the husband had no reason to kill his wife. They had been together for forty years and had a good relationship.
The scariest of all was the case of the couple with four children. There were many details that Snyder did not know, as those details were not disclosed to the public.
For example, later, the wife had checked her mobile phone and found that a photo she took of her children in the basement had a shadow lurking behind the children.
The shadow looked like an old lady. According to the analysis of the silhouette and body shape, it was identical to that of the wife in the first murder case.
Another thing was, once, when the children were celebrating a birthday, the husband had used a camcorder to record the scene. Later, when he reviewed the video, he realized that someone had moved the cake on the table. Also, there had been a candle placed on the chair in one frame. When the camera returned to that frame, the candle vanished…
They had thought that all those antics had been done by the children. However, at that time, the four children were all in the video frame. It was when the frame had moved that the thing had happened.
Not only that, the husband and wife had told the police that at midnight, they would enter into a state whereby they felt that they were half-awake and half-asleep. Every time it happened, they could hear someone saying in their ears, "You move away, you are on my bed, where should I sleep?"
Hearing Lu Guan's words, Young Markelov shuddered and said, "F*ck, this is unbelievable. It can't be. This is something that only happens in the movies!"
Lu Guan raised his hand and said, "I swear, all these were recorded in the police's files. You might say that the couple's words might be fake or a product of their hallucination. But the photos and videos, that can't be faked, right?"
Young Markelov rubbed his chin and said, "Yes, something isn't right about this."
His brother kicked him and chided, "Yes, your head. There are no ghosts in the world. If there were ghosts, how come Vasily Moy and Roman Gulik never saw any? Those sons of a b*tch have harmed how many of our brothers?"
Young Markelov rubbed his chin again and said, "That's true too."
Li Du waved his hands and said, "That's enough. No need to be afraid. Let's all move in and get our ammunition ready. Bring along Ah Meow and the rest. Even if vampires or werewolves come along, we'd be able to fight them!"
The formalities of transferring the house were completed and Li Du immediately ordered his men to move into the haunted house.
He took the Markelov brothers, Firecracker, Madman, Godzilla, Lu Guan and also Ah Meow and the rest of the animals. Regardless of what the mystery was, their sensitive nature would help.
He left the rest of the men under Brother Wolf's care in the mansion, in case the Dripping Blood gang came looking for trouble.
Besides, he also engaged a team of professional security guards from a security company. Every month, it would cost him seventy to eighty thousand dollars, but that would protect his family better.
After all, he decided he should be more cautious during this period.
Bellaire was, strictly speaking, a community, started by Mr. Bell one century ago. From the Santa Monica Mountains to Sunset Boulevard, the entire community was extending westward.
The community was very upscale, and it formed the famous "Platinum Triangle" of Los Angeles with Beverly Hills and Holmby Hills. This 'triangle' enjoyed the reputation of being the most prestigious residential area in the United States. It also had some of the most expensive real estate on the West Coast.

Hence, they had this new city.
The city was close to the famous UCLA campus, which made the value of the local property rise further. UCLA was a world-famous school. The campus was beautiful and the students were highly accomplished. One could even occasionally go to the campus to stay there. It was very family-friendly.
Li Du and his group had driven pass the Bel-Air entertainment club and the Bel-Air hotel. That was the center of the small district, which was up the hill. The surroundings were classy and had a good ambiance.
From that point on, the road started to wind. Driver steered the car with ease. Li Du looked out and realized that not many houses were visible on the street because their doors were hidden by dense foliage or shrubs. There was quite a high degree of privacy.
Later, as the car continued to drive up, one could see the traces of these luxury homes.
The haunted house that he had bought could be considered a luxury mansion. The quality of the house was good, the style was beautiful, and the location was very nice. If it did not have the reputation of being a haunted house, the market price could be more than five million dollars.
Along the way, Li Du said, "You know, these houses are so scattered around the land, they are almost hidden in the forests or the mountains. Even if there were no murders in them, they are like haunted houses."

The night was bustling with lights and cheers despite the scene of a murder was near by, the horrifying act did not tone down the cheerful environment at the commercial district.
Yellow police line surrounded the scene of the murder, which was at an alleyway that connected the resisdential district and the commercial district; there was an uniformed officer on guard duty in front.
The scene was actually almost cleaned up, all that was left was some follow up and the scene could be released, but the case was far from being solved.
The residential district was rather quiet though. It was late at night and people had started to go to bed, there were still street lamps lit up but it did not light up the silent atmosphere.
The distance between each lit street lamp was covered in shadow and it formed an interesting scene of black and white stripes along the street.
A lady in a body of formal suit and pants was shuttling along the light and shadow and as she walked into the light, her face slowly came into sight.
It was Mako, in disguise as an office lady!
She was here because of the plan Akira devised earlier. At first, she was reluctant to accept Akira's idea but she couldn't come up with anything else, plus time was not on their side. 
Akira assured her that he would be on standby and would jump in to support should anything happen. Besides, there were two more police officers with them on this special mission, ultimately, Mako gave in to the suggestion and agreed to be bait.
She paused under the streetlamp and squinted her eyes helplessly. 
"Why do I have a bad feeling about this… Akira, you better be on standby, or else…" she said.
'I'm already in position, watching you from high up! Don't worry, we have extra help this time and I'm sure you will be fine.' 
Akira's voice came through her earpiece. She sighed and continued to walk.
The street was rather eerie even with the streetlamps on since there wasn't a soul on this residential area street in the middle of the night.
It was quiet other than clicks from Mako's heels, even the summer night breeze whistled sounded like a concert in her ears.
When she was halfway down the street, the streetlamps started to flicker.
The flickers started slow and grew faster, eventually turning into a lightshow of sorts.
Mako was extremely cautious standing under the flickering light.
The streetlamps flickered to a certain limit before the lights went dark.
Mako immediately pulled out her tonfas and entered a battle-ready stance.
Suddenly, the lights came back on.
Mako looked left and right vigilantly, looking for her possible foe.
Then, she saw a girl standing under the next streetlamp in front of her.
The girl was wearing a white dress, had long hair over her shoulders and was holding a pair of scissors in her hand. 
"So you are the one behind all this?" said Mako as she pointed at the girl.
The girl was a little bit surprised due to the slight shudder from her body. Her face, however, was too dark to see because she slightly tilted her head downwards.
"Let's quickly get this over with." Mako said in a stern tone as she twirled both her tonfas into a circle. Orange spiritual energy enveloped her weapon and she was ready to end this once and for all so that she could get rid of the bad feeling in her heart.
She leapt out at the girl like a leopard hunting its prey, launching one of her tonfas straight at her head.
The girl shuddered but it didn't slow her down, she raised her scissors in the nick of time and blocked the tonfa.
Wham!
A heavy clunk sounded followed by a ring of energy bursting in all directions.
Both of their hair fluttered in the wind, and it allowed Mako to get a glimpse of the girl's face.
The girl looked normal, somewhat delicate, but her eyes were red as blood and there were no pupils in it.
Mako furrowed brows were locked tight. She followed up with an attack with her other tonfa, going after the opening on the left side of the girl's head.
The girl cocked her head backward to a ridiculous angle. Going along with the motion, she lifted her legs up, attempting to kick Mako away.  
Mako quickly disengaged as the girl tumbled backwards into a defensive stance.
"Not too shabby, but not enough." said Mako as she readjust her position before leaping out again.
She was quicker than before. A barrage of tonfa blows were launched at the eerie girl.
The eerie girl was able to block a few hits with her scissors but after several more, her defenses started to fail her. 
Hit after hit, the tonfa landed on her body, inflicting pain but the girl didn't utter a word except for some painful grunts.
Ignoring the grunts, Mako continued with her attacks, she wanted to end this quick so that the ill feeling in her could probably go away.
Makoe easily got the upper hand against the eerie girl, but quite the opposite, the ill feeling got denser. 
As Mako easily forced the girl into a corner, she was ready to launch her final blow at the Yoma, ending this once and for all.
"True Blossom Hundred Art - Dyna—"
Right before her charged up explosive tonfa could be launch, she saw a grin on the girl's face. The ill feeling in her heart was raised to its peak.
A sudden cold struck her back, causing her goosebumps.
Mako forcefully held back her attack and quickly tilted her head backwards.
What she saw was another face of a girl, this time with white hair and pitch black eyes without any pupils as well.
That was the last image that she saw before everything went dark.
The other thing that went dark was the street.
The whole street went dark for a second before the lights came back on. There was no one left on the street, no girl, no Mako, as if nothing had happened before.
Right after the lights came back on, Akira, Kurata and Kamakura came dashing to the spot where Mako was last seen.
The two officers nervously pointed their guns at the surroundings as what they saw from afar frightened them.
Akira, on the other hand, scanned around, he found nothing, not even any traces of a fight.
"Well, that was unexpected." Hands under his chin, Akira pondered at the situation with an annoyed look.
"W-What was that, Akira-san?! Is that… a ghost?!" Kamakura stuttered nervously. 
"Uhh… not exactly, but you are not entirely wrong." Akira looked at Kamakura with a smile. "Lower your guns, there's nothing left here for you to shoot, even if there is, your bullets cannot harm those Yoma." 
The two officers exchanged a confused gaze, eventually holstering their guns.
"Yoma, you say?" Kurata asked.
"Yes, it's what we call those things. They are something far more powerful than normal souls, but fret not, I am here." Akira pointed at himself proudly, attempting to assure the two officers that things were under control.
"What should we do now? Where's Mako-san?" Kamakura asked, seeking advice in a situation that he never encountered before.
Akira took out his smart phone and turned on the GPS tracker. 
"We can track Mako with the GPS in her earpiece." Shaking the phone, Akira smiled at the two baffled officers. 
"A GPS? I thought the supernatural ways requires the supernatural means? Technology?" Kamakura asked with a confused look.
"Supernatural or not, if we can't keep up with the society, the society will disqualified us, especially us exorcist… Now then, let us see where Mako had gone to...Eh?"
Akira moved the map on the screen around, trying to find the red dot that was Mako but he noticed the red dot was static and it was beside him. 
He quickly scanned the surroundings and found out Mako's earpiece had dropped behind.
The two officers scowled at Akira as he picked it up, Kamakura said, "Is this part of the plan?"
"Seems like technology has failed you." Kurata added.
Akira awkwardly kept the earpiece in his pocket, "Ahem, changes sometimes outrun the plan. Fret not, I still have a contingency plan!"
Snap! Akira snapped his fingers and Rai, one of the two fox shikigami that Mako captured earlier, jumped out from thin air.
The two officers were surprised at first before they curiously sized up the yellowish fox with electrical sparks around it. 
"This is?" Kamakura pointed at Rai.
"A shikigami, Mako's one to be precise. She has a pair of these and she left one with me just in case. It should be able to track its counterpart, but why do I sense some disdain from its eyes."
Akira looked at Rai and its disdainful look.
It seemed like Rai still had some sore feelings for Akira, despite the fact that its memories were renewed after forming a contract with Mako.
"So this little fox can lead us to the culprits that abducted Mako-san?" Kurata asked.
"Yes, if it's willing to move right now." Akira said with a bitter smile.
Rai seemed to understand Akira. Another quick disdainful glance later, it started to sniff around then vigilantly looked towards a certain direction.
"Let's go officers, the case is still on-going!"
The three, Akira, Kurata and Kamakura, then followed Rai as it hopped away.
Several blocks and turns into alleyway later, the trio and shikigami arrived in front of a residential house.
The two-storey house looked dark, not just because of the time, but the worn down state. The house was located at a rather secluded corner in the neighbourhood. Not a single soul was on the street in front of it and even the only streetlight was rather dimmed.
"How typical, a haunted house." Akira, hands at his waist and his Bladestaff at his back, said as he wiped away the dust on the address plate, "The Hara family?"
"Hara family? What does that name sound so familiar…" Kurata said with a slight squint of eyes as he searched his memories, "The Hara family torture case!" 
Kurata bump his palm as the memories came afloat.
"Hara family case? Is that something I should know?" Akira turned around to the veteran officer.
"You don't pay attention to the news, do you?" Kurata asked.
"I pay attention to the news, but not this kind." Akira shrugged.
"Kamakura." 
"Yes, sir." 
Kamakura then nodded and explained, "The Hara family case happened only last month. Two teenage daughters and a father were found dead in the house. The daughters had signs of being tortured and the father died with a stab in the head with a scissors."
"Two daughters eh? Hmmm…" Scratching his chin, Akira pondered upon the topic.
Something felt off in his heart, but he couldn't exactly pinpoint it.
Ruff! All of a sudden, Rai barked alarmingly, it dashed towards the entrance and went through the door.
"I guess it's action now, question later. Come on, this might be your first real haunted house experience." Akira invited the two officers to the door.
Kurata and Kamakura exchanged a troubled gaze and stepped up to the invitation.
A locked door was not a problem for Akira as he rammed the door knob off with his staff.
The trio, with Akira's lead, ventured through the door with cautious steps.
The officers did not pull out their gun this time, because Akira told them guns couldn't damage the supernatural, still they clench their fists tight and tread forward with utmost caution.
Beside the entryway was a flight of stairs leading to the second floor; beside the stairs was a corridor leading to the kitchen and two doors on the left, which was the living room and a storeroom.
There was a master bedroom and two single room on the second floor.
The family with the tragic end was considered a wealthy one for able to afford a two-storey house like this. 
Akira turned on the torchlight on his smartphone and shed light over the dark entrance, "It's like stepping into a horror house." He called it a horror house, not just because of the fact that it might be haunted, but also because of the desolate state.
The walls were dirty, a thick layer of dust covered the floor and doors were broken. 
"Let's split up. I'll take the second floor, you guys can sweep the first floor." said Akira.
"Split up?" Kamakura asked in a hesitant tone.
"I know what you are thinking. We are stepping into a haunted house, with possible encounter with the supernatural, and, like all movies, splitting up is a bad idea. Am I right?" Akira shone his smartphone torchlight at Kamakura and an annoyed look.
Kamakura moved his hands up to cover his eyes and smiled bitterly. 
Kurata, his partner, also stared at him, then he said, "We will take the first floor." 
Akira nodded and went straight up the stairs.
Kamakura awkwardly took his smartphone out, turned on the torchlight.
"Don't embarrassed me in front of people." Kurata added before he headed to the kitchen.
"Y-Yes sir." Kamakura stuttered and started to search the living room.
The searched started and ended swiftly because all three of them did not find any clues or traces of Mako.
10 minutes later, the three of them regrouped at the foyer.
"Found anything?" asked Kurata.
"Nothing, not even a single strand of hair." said Akira.
"Me too." Kamakura answered.
"Since we couldn't find any clues here, let's search around the house." Kurata said then headed to the door.
Right after he opened the door, what he saw stunned him.
Behind the door wasn't the road where they came from but it was the exact same foyer that they were standing in, it was like the exit was the entrance to a mirrored foyer. 
"Akira-san, is this normal?" asked Kurata.
"It's not, but not unusual. Guess we have more places to search." Akira pointed at the mirrored house, suggesting to further their search there.
Akira took the lead into the mirrored house, followed by Kurata then Kamakura.
"Just like before, I'll search the second floor, you guys take the first." Akira gave a thumbs up to the two officers as he turned around to them.
However, before they started the search, Akira saw a figure behind Kamakura, which was the original house that they came from.
"Watch out!" Akira said loudly, but it was too late.
A pair of white hands tapped Kamakura on his shoulders and dragged him back into the first house, the door in between then slammed shut after Kamakura went out of sight.
"KAMAKURA!" shouted Kurata!
He reached out to the handle swiftly and opened the door, but he saw no traces of his partner even after he stepped back into the first house.
"KAMAKURA! WHERE ARE YOU!" Kurata shouted out of worries. He panicked, his partner was snatched before his eyes and he failed to do anything to stop it. 
Sweat rolled down his temples, he started to feel that things were no longer within control.
A hand suddenly tapped on his shoulder, Kurata turned around in a sudden and saw Akira's calm and steady look.
"Don't lose your calm just yet, it's still not the worst." 
He then pointed in front, which was the corridor of the first house—a piece of paper was swaying down from the air.
Kurata strode to the piece of paper after it landed on the floor.
He picked it up and checked the piece of paper, what he saw astonished him.
He turned around to Akira and showed him the content.
"Die?" 
A kanji character was written in blood, it spelled the meaning of death.
"I don't think so. Now that we are sure that it's in this, or that, house, it's time to take the fight to them." Akira said determinedly. 
"Take the fight to them?" Kurata said in confusion.
He didn't know what was about to happen but Akira's strong gaze somehow assured him a little.

This is by no means a scary novel (I’m scared of ghosts myself), it’s more of an action comedy with shonen elements. It’s about how people face life and death and how they can grow from painful experience (no, I do not mean myself). Since there is no editor with me on this, please tolerate my lousy writing, but I am confident in the story! (>_

"What did you say?!"
The old president stood up abruptly.
"That little devil brought Lize to Cyril's Haunted House??"
"I, too, just received the news, old buddy."
Sereck made a withered smile and said, "At first, I wanted to look for them and ask about their plans. But they're long gone by then. Not long after then I learned that they went to the City Hall to buy Cyril's property."
"Needless to say, after seeing his courageous move, I was very optimistic about his future."
"Nonsense! Simply nonsense!"
The old president slammed the table.
"That place isn't some casual area that they can visit. Immediately pull them back!"
Sereck shook his head. "It's too late. They're already inside."
But soon, a smile emerged from his face.
"But thinking about it, old friend, why are you so anxious? Didn't you hate people who broke mercenary rules? Isn't it for the better now if both of them disappeared. Their mercenary group would be immediately disbanded and you'll gain one more slot. Why bother with them now?"
"That is that, and this is this!"
The old president frowned. Apparently, he was very dissatisfied.
"That kid had just been appointed as a guild leader, but the first action he took didn't have the responsibility of his members in mind. Sereck, hurry to the haunted house. Perhaps it isn't too late to salvage the situation."
"Do not be so nervous, old friend, maybe things are not as bad as you think," Sereck said calmly.
The old president revealed a puzzled expression.
"What do you mean?"
After so many years with Sereck, the old president understood that he wasn't a ruthless character. Since he said those words, he must have realized something.
"… Nothing."
After neglecting the president's curiosity on purpose, Sereck shrugged and spread out his hands, revealing an elegant smile.
"You had never fought him before, so you might not understand him. But I'm different… Perhaps… this young man may even create a miracle. Since he dared to buy the mansion, he definitely had a plan to resolve that haunted house issue. As for us, we just have to watch quietly on the sidelines."
"Also, what did you say to Lize…? That this is a gamble? Yes. This is a gamble, so we also have to gamble on him. If Rhode could solve this mystery curse, then it is a good thing for us. I believe that he has the ability to do so."
"Hmph. It's just the pride of young people." The old president snorted in disdain.
"Just because he revealed his extraordinary power and now he thinks he is invincible. There are many of such fools, and he isn't any different."
But Sereck merely grinned and countered, "But there are also many geniuses."
"Whether this kid is a fool or a genius, we currently don't know, but I think that it will all be revealed soon."
The old president rolled his eyes. "I just think that it is too… exaggerated."
"Frankly… if it weren't for the fact that you'd never left Deep Stone City for decades, I would really doubt that you didn't have any relation to this kid since you care for him so much."
"… And I'd love to have anything to do with him." Sereck sighed.
"I'm getting old… Although I did not feel like this yesterday, but after those events… sigh…"
Sereck shifted his gaze upwards and sighed once more.
"Thinking back, what did I do when I was at his age? Now, look at this group of children… Don't you feel that we can't keep up with the time anymore?"
"But history will still have our place."
The old president played with his pen in his hand as he spoke.
"Young people have their own glory, and we also have our own pride. And now is not the time for you to feel old… Alright, since you believe in him so much, then I won't interfere anymore. But, if there's still no movement in three days, then you must be ready to take people to collect their corpses."

In the gloomy corridor, the rotting wooden planks creaked under heavy pressure.
Although right now, the current state of the house was in total chaos, but once upon a time, it was an elegant and gorgeous estate with dark red velvet carpets, intricate sculptures, and brilliant crystalline chandeliers.
However, as the saying goes: time washes away everything. In this case, time slowly destroyed the splendor of the house.
The cold wind sifted through the fractures in the glass windows and ruffled the curtains. A huge chandelier sprawled on the floor, with its crystals strewn all over the room. And on the walls, the once beautiful paintings were covered in blemishes and cobwebs.
While the scene looked aesthetically unpleasing, it certainly checked all the boxes of a haunted house theme.

Crash.
Rhode smacked his hands together to rid the residue dust on his sleeve after he threw a rotted wooden table at his feet, to the side. Like a frightened rabbit, Lize jumped once she heard the noise and turned around to stare at Rhode with a pale face.
"W-What are you doing, Mr. Rhode?"
"Cleaning up."
He made a hand gesture and signaled the Spirit Bird to conjure a strong wind to sweep the dust that had been accumulating throughout the years.
Rhode then faced towards Lize with his usual indifferent expression and said, "After all, no one had lived in this ghostly place for a few years. It's time to throw away these things… As a mercenary group stronghold, we don't require a decor like those noble houses; it's so much trouble, just a simple decor would do. Ah, but this carpet quality is not bad, we can keep it, what do you think?"
"Si, sir!"
Lize almost cried when she saw Rhode acting like he just bought a new house and came to decorate the layout.
The pressure on Lize wasn't little. After all, she heard nasty rumors about this haunted house. This house had claimed the lives of many young women and soldiers, and as a result, her inner danger perception was constantly on high alert. Even a slight rustle of the curtain could startle her. This couldn't be blamed on her though. Despite facing death multiple times in the face, she hadn't fought against an enemy that couldn't be seen.
Rhode obviously noticed her alarmed expression, but he did not say anything. He recalled that the first time he came here, he also acted like her, carefully examining every corner of the house since he was afraid that a monster would suddenly appear out of nowhere. But at that time, even Rhode did not expect that the danger would come at the most unexpected moment. But now, he was familiar with the quest process and was quite disappointed that he'd once felt terribly afraid of it. After all, it was his first time being that dreadfully frightened.
Even though he said he was 'cleaning', but it was nothing more than a facade. Although he had already received the deed of the land from the city hall, his mercenary group system didn't recognize the stronghold. This meant that they had not completed the requirements, which was to clear this haunted house. That was why he brought Lize here to help him as she was the best candidate with her holy skills. And since his only subordinate was Lize, he had to somehow find a way to train her to keep up with his speed. However, Lize wasn't a player, and thus, he couldn't blatantly say things like: 'C'mere, let's complete this quest together and level up.' One must realize that NPCs in the game leveled up differently from the player. As such, Rhode had no choice but to trick this poor girl to come here with him.
The sun finally went down.
Darkness crept in and shrouded the skies. Now, the already-dark house was even darker. Only the fireplace in the center of the hall emitted a source of light.
"Mr. Rhode, I think we should go back. We can still clean up tomorrow."
Lize felt increasingly uncomfortable the darker the house became. It wasn't a physical feeling, but rather it was an instinctive sense of danger.
"No need. Let us just take a break here, since this is our stronghold."
He was very clear about her uncomfortable feeling right now. When he entered this area he received a system prompt —— Entered the evil domain.
To the beings belonging to the light, evil and darkness was their biggest foe. The eternal opposition between good and evil clearly drawn the line between the two sides. This means that if one entered the domain of the opposition, an absolute pressure would bear down upon them. And right now, since Lize was in the evil domain, she would feel oppressed by the surroundings and would feel uneasy. After all, she was a half angel, half human, so at least she was still able to maintain this state.
It's almost time.
Once he confirmed the quest trigger from his memories, he reached out his hand and summoned a bright red card quietly.
Clang…!
And finally, at this time, a loud cry rang out.


Rhode is a legendary guild leader of the most influential guild in the VRMMO, Dragon Soul Continent. In order to cope with the death of his beloved sister, he dived into the game for seven long years. During this period, Rhode tries his best to alleviate his emotional pain through gaming, but alas, his life shatters once more when he heard his parents perish in a plane crash.

Rhode shot up and stared at the unfamiliar ceiling.

And thus, a player who had been creating legends in the game for three eras disappeared just like that...

Marco and Alice were travelling at northwest, which made Alice curious, and asked.
Alice: Where are we going?
Marco: At the haunted house.
Alice flinched and started to glare him, but stood silent, Marco sighed, knowing it would be hard dealing with Alice's fear of ghosts… Which strangely didn't included Ghost Girls and other things.
[Later]
It was night and they reached the mansion, the atmosphere around them was getting creepy, the mansion was really old, entirely made of bricks and a wooden floor, almost every window was broken, and at its side there was a small graveyard.
Marco: Aaaand… Here we are!
Alice said nothing, she was wearing a calm face, but inside her she was slowly getting scared. Meanwhile, Marco, who was thinking about how to proceed, found a familiar figure at the window of the second floor that was spying on him.
It was a little girl with a skin similar to Alice, but darker, she had long black hair gathered in twintails which the end of the twintails were colored pink, she had pink eyes and a pair of big but short pink horns at the sides of her head.
She was wearing a black nurse hat with a white cross, a black short sleeved shirt which revealed her abdomen, and black short pants, she had black stockings with pink stripes and was carrying a grey bag around her shoulder.
She was Chrome, a failure as a succubus, and a necromancer, she could make some zombies here and there, even if in future she could use ghosts, she greatly helped during the 3rd chapter of the game, and she was the responsible of the rumors of the haunted house.
Marco: 'I don't think it will be a good decision destroying the place… Let's just go inside and see what happens…' Hey Alice, you want to come?
Alice: I won't!
She declared firmly, even if her tail was trembling from fear, and Marco sighed before saying.
Marco: Alright, I'll solve this shit then we will go at the forest…
Alice sighed in relief while Marco entered the haunted house alone. The insides were even more creepy than the outside, but it didn't affected much Marco since he knew that the chances of death were almost 0% with his powers and with the monsters' behavior.
There were a pair of stairs at the sides of the room, everything was made of wood and was incredibly dirty, almost falling apart, and suddenly, a monster appeared.
She had long black hair and a black dress, while her skin was pale white, she had 3 pairs of hands, 1 pair connected with her body while the other 2 pairs were floating around, she was a Ghost Girl.
She had a smug look on her face and said with a weak voice.
Ghost Girl: Human energy… I'll suck it all up…
Marco was careful, because Luka in the game was able to hit the Ghost Girl with his sword, but there is a possibility that his aura wouldn't work.
Marco: Tsk… 'I should do a test…'
Then Marco used the 1st Gate and attacked her, but his attack got to the other side of her body, leaving her undamaged, the Ghost Girl was grinning while Marco was in alert.
Ghost Girl: Hehe… You can't hurt me with this genre of attacks…
Marco: 'If fighting doesn't work… Let's try intimidation.' Give up… You will never touch me…
Ghost Girl: I don't think that's so…
Marco: And that's where you are wrong… If I wanted, I could easily destroy this place, I decided to hold back because I am here to investigate, not destruction. But remember…
Marco turned towards the Ghost Girl with wide eyes, showing his slitted pupil glowing crimson eyes.
The Ghost Girl yelped while floating away from him and trembling. Then she clicked her tongue and vanished, then Marco sighed in relief but didn't deactivated the 1st Gate, and started to inspect the room where he was.
There was nothing special so he climbed the stairs while crushing a strange doll under his foot, the doll struggled a bit before glowing, it seems that the doll was a monster girl too, and then the glow disappeared, leaving an undamaged doll in the floor, Marco ignored it and continued to go forward.
Then, when he opened one of the doors upstairs, the thing that greeted him was…
Zombie Girl: Uuwooooooh….
Marco: ...A small fry…
The Zombie Girl had a small stature, her arms and legs were covered in blood, she was wearing only a t-shirt and lowered panties, she had long white hair and an empty gaze, when she looked at Marco, she slowly walked at him, but Marco sighed and pierced her stomach.
It was a bit harder than piercing normal humans, but it was easy anyways with his 1st Gate, then she glowed and something came out from her, after that, she fell down like a ragdoll, lifelessly, the thing that came out must be her soul.
Then he checked out the room, finding only the picture of who should be the daughter of the owner of the house, he checked in other rooms but there wasn't anything important, then he walked in the main room and looked around.
Marco: Should I smash… Or should I find another way? ...Why am I even thinking about it…
Marco raised his foot and stomped on the wooden floor, which started to crack before an hole appeared, and so he fell down.
When he reached the ground, instead of stopping his fall, he broke through the floor, falling even more deep, until he reached a floor made of stones, where he stopped and looked around.
It seems that he was inside a catacomb, and heard moanings everywhere, he observed carefully and noticed many glowing eyes in the darkness, soon he was able to see in the dark and found countless zombies surrounding him, and 2 stood out more than others.
It was a massive zombie which had Chrome over her shoulder, the zombie is Frederika, the dead daughter of the owner of the house, her body was fused with many other corpses to form an abomination that is currently there.
Marco was careful and quickly activated the 2nd Gate, developing a second tail, even if the zombies are weak, number can still overpower him, and he wasn't sure about how many there were, but he didn't need to reach the 3rd Gate.
And then, the rampage started…
[5 minutes later]
Marco was walking towards Frederika and Chrome, he had a poker face, like nothing happened, but it was betrayed from the small mountain of corpses behind Marco, none of them were killed… Technically… Well, they were all sealed.
And now it was Chrome and Frederika's turn, Chrome was a bit afraid of Marco, but turned back confident when she remembered that she was with her best creation, and ordered her.
Chrome: Get him, Frede-!

Chrome didn't thought anymore about fighting with a freak like him, and immediately kowtowed.
Chrome: Wawa! I'm sorry! Please have mercy on this little one! I'll stop making zombies, just don't kill me!
Marco: …
He was speechless at the sudden change of behavior, he never had intentions of greatly hurting her, and she was talking about death. Well, with the scene he put up before it would be strange not being afraid of him.
Chrome then started banging her head in the stone floor while kowtowing and repeatedly saying 'I'm sorry!', Marco panicked a bit and put an hand over her shoulder to stop her.
Marco: Chill down, girl! I'm not here to kill you! Just stopping you doing this shit.
Chrome registered what he meant and sighed in relief while her front was bleeding a lot.
Marco: ...Hey… Shouldn't you cure that injury?
Chrome didn't want to stay there anymore and ran away, and Marco sighed in exasperation.
Marco: Alright, another thing is finished… Let's go to Alice and get the fuck away…
Then Marco deactivated the Gates and left the catacomb to group back with Alice, but was stopped from a cold presence behind him, he panicked and turned behind, finding something a bit unexpected.
It was the same lady he found in the picture in the room upstairs, Frederika's ghost.
Frederika: Thank you, traveler… Now my… No, our souls have been saved…
Then, other ghosts appeared and talked with gratitude.
Ghosts: With our bodies turned into zombies, our souls were bound here… But now, we're finally free.../ Even if I'm just a soul, I can finally return… The homeland I've missed so much… San Ilia.../ Thank you, traveler… Thanks to you, we're finally free…
And finally, all of the ghosts ascended, even if Marco knew that Frederika would stay with Chrome, showing herself later.
Marco smiled at the scene and thought before leaving.
Marco: 'If Alice was here, she would faint while standing…'
And then, he left the house, meeting with Alice once again.
