"Great grandpa, could you tell me the story of great-great-grandpa Fang again" ask Bu Feng Tian to his great-grandfather while sitting on his great-grandfather lap.

"Haha of course, Tian' er, now listen carefully, It all started when my father, your great-great-grandfather, found himself in another world inside a shop that he later called it Fang Fang's Little Store, in an alleyway of a certain small kingdom....." the great grandfather chuckled as he narrated the stories of his father to his great-grandson.

"Wow, I wished I could be like him someday too" said Bu Feng Tian to his great-grandfather.

"Haha, I know you could do it too", ' maybe even better with that thing helping and guiding you along the way, after its collect the needed energy all those year to upgrade anew' the great-grandfather chuckled as he told his great-grandson, while thinking about something.


"Great-grandpa, in the story you said Bu Fang are together with a hellhound, a golem, a shrimp and a lady what are their name?" ask Bu Feng Tian.


"Hahahaha, your great-great-grandfather has bad naming sense, I still remember the grievance look of the Hellhound when he introduced it to me when I was your age" laughed the great-grandfather when he start to reminiscene the past.


"What are their name great-grandpa?" ask Bu Feng Tian again.

" It was Little Blacky for the black Hell Hound, Little Whitey for the Golem and Little Goldy for the Ancestral Shrimp while Nether Lady for the Netherworld Woman" explain the great-grandfather to Bu Feng Tian.

" Well, young one, your 4th birthday are coming soon doesn't it?" ask the great-grandfather to his great-grandson.

Bu Feng Tian nodded to that question like a chick pecking for grains.

"Although its a little early to give this to you as a present, its okay to keep it as a secret to other doesn't it?" said the great-grandfather to Bu Feng Tian as he handed a black jade locket with white jade 'Divine' word engraved on it.

Fourteen years has pass since then and the little Bu Feng Tian had grown to a capable teen that has great look and foundation on every single basic skills and knowledges and was working as a temporary assistant cook on every types of restaurants he works at to consolidated his knowledge on different types of dishes from different continents and country.

Bu Feng Tian was orphaned at the age of sixteen leaving him with plenty of wealth but he didn't waste it, instead he used it to sent himself to the best culinary school in the world that was situated in Japan. He graduated from it after a year studying there break every records and creating his own records while receiving a lot of invitation to become the head chef in every famous restaurant across the world but declined.

He still remember the story that his great-grandfather told him when he was young, and start to felt a bit melancholy remembering it. His great-grandfather died and left their family at the age of 168 years old when he was six years old. His grandfather has a spleen cancer but died peacefully on hospital bed when he was ten year old, while his grandmother follow a year later due to old age. His parent was on a business trip to to overseas when the plane that their are on have lost its control and crashed on the sea.

Still aspiring to become a great chef, Bu Feng Tian start to wander around the world gathering cooking experience and created many kinds of eccentric but world class delicious dishes, gaining himself the title of the "Eccentric Wandering Chef" and being known worldwide.

One day, exactly a day after his 18th birthday, he received a mysterious letter and packages that was told to be inherited by him from his great-grandfather. Inside the letter was a messages and instructions for every items in the packages along with how to activated his true inheritance that is the locket that him wear since it was given by his great-grandfather. Including in the messages was the letters "Happy 18th Birthday Tian' er, Sincerely Your Great-Grandfather, Bu Shen". 

Still clueless, Bu Feng Tian follow every single instructions mindlessly while changing his clothes to what was prepared inside the packages, while equiping the dagger and put it on its sheath to his belt and putting other neccesity that was prepared in the packages into a duffle bag that was together in the packages. He was astonished at the sight of a lot of items has been going inside the small bag as if the bag has a world of its own inside it. 

After finished changing and preparing all the packages, Bu Feng Tian follow the last instruction which is the activation of the inheritance by having drops of his blood drips on the locked that accompanying him all those 14 years together. After the locket absorbed his blood, it start to glow from dimming light to a blinding prismatic light until suddenly a sound was heard.

"Aaaaaaarrgghhh" Bu Feng Tian scream on top of his lungs as he experiencing a painful feeling around his body as it change from the temperature of hot lava to icy tundra all around his body. Impurities started to coming out of his pores then dissipated due to intense heat and cold emitted by his body, this process continued for about an hour before his skin cracked and shed to show a white baby tender skin below it. Mysteriously enough the clothes that he wore are not affected during the purification process.

As the countdown ticking away, the surrounding of Bu Feng Tian started to shone a blinding prismatic light again as he lost his consiousness immediately.

Together with his pets and guardian golem, that is a Divine Hell Hound and a Divine Heaven Hound, a Divine Draconic Essence Shrimp and Divine Guardian Golem. 


*Disclaimer : This is a story that based on "Gourmet of Another World", and I admit that I might steals some ideas from other novels, manga, manhua, manhwa, comics, anime and tv programme. So give me a break cause I need some inspirations and reference to make this novel.*

Oh well, it has been 15 years since I've reached this place. Amazing place? Cruel place? Till this day I can't really differentiate it.

"Happy Birthday dear self."

Picked up my phone when the clock strikes twelve. My screen shows "you have a message. " I unlocked my phone to see an email reminding me to hand in my online assignments. 

Perhaps everyone's asleep and I should be too. Maybe they will wish me in the morning? I always wished people Happy Birthday, so they probably will wish me too? 

Lying on my bed, looking at the ceiling. They wouldn't forgot my birthday right? Can't remember how long after that, I fell asleep. 

"Hey, wake up! Time to eat breakfast! " my typical Asian mom knocking on my door as usual. "Yes, Ma! "

"Another ham sandwich for the birthday girl. " I looked at my plate. And extra ham! What a great way to start a day. 

"I got to go now ma, see you! " I checked my phone when I'm on the bus on the way to school. No messages. 

I reached school, my best friend, Carmen came and wish me with a hug. "Hey girl, Happy Birthday! " I looked at her in shocked " Wow, why are you so touchy today? " Carmen gave me those puppy eyes. How can I resist it? "Fine, fine, you win. "

"Teacher's here, class stand! " Just another day of the month, just another day of the week, and just another birthday...

Aron asked what are the conditions. Kim said, " Aron if you want us to be friends can I ask you to be normal when you are with me? ". upon hearing this Aron laughed and said, " Be normal?  what do you find abnormal about me?". Kim suddenly realized how weird her words sounded. But before she could say anything Aron said, " Kim don't worry   I know what you want to say and don't worry you are being friends with Aron the person and not the CEO so it will be very normal and low key. Just consider me as any of your other friends. " Kim nodded and finally said ok let's be super good friends and shook hands with  Aron. Aron didn't know why but felt like he has won a great battle but seeing being at ease and finally accepting his friendship he felt good. 
After some chit chat both of them left the place. After that day they casually talked to each other or sometimes exchanged messages. Two months passed. Kim was flipping the calendar planning her work and schedule suddenly her eyes glittered she remembered that it is Aron's birthday next weekend. She excitedly messaged Aron asking about his birthday plans but the next moment she felt guilty as she thought Aron must be having an extravagant plan regarding his birthday and it might seem that Kim is desperate to be a part of it.  She bit her lower lip, rolled her eyes and regretted her decision. 
But to her surprise Aron messaged back saying he used to throw a party a day before his birthday for his work and business circle and on his birthday he doesn't like to do anything exaggerated. 
Kim was puzzled and wanted to ask the reason but before she could do so Aron's message flashed on screen. Kim was surprised, the message read..

 [Kim if you are free can you join me for dinner on my birthday, Joy will also be coming and I will ask Ann to come also.Will it be Ok? ] 
Kim was obviously reluctant and just was typing to deny when she received a call from Aron. She picked it up and Aron again invited her. He also stated that Kim didn't have to worry or feel awkward as on his birthday he likes to spend it with his friends and family in a very low key manner. His parents are out of the country for the time and he wanted to spend his birthday with his friends so a simple dinner will be great. After he said Kim was no way in a position to deny and accepted the invitation.  Apart from that they had a small casual talk and finally hung up. 
Aron was happy and Kim confused. She started thinking about what gift would be proper for giving to a CEO who possesses all wordly luxuries and can have anything he wants in the blink of an eye.

Kim a hardworking happy go lucky girl who tries to live life on her own terms and never gives up through thick and thin. But things change drastically when situations compel her to enter into the life of Aron a business tycoon. Will they be able to complete each other in spite of their differences?

Ludicrous... Absolutely ludicrous.

And it was. Very much so. Yet also, very real.

One after the other, an appalling discovery after the next. All within the period of a single moonlit sky. Maddening can only stretch so far until it reaches the peak of absolute insanity. A roller coaster of revelations, one that he couldn't seem to disembark, no matter how colossal his yearning may be to do so.

His eyes stung, watering with irritation, and only managed to tear away his gaze long enough to wipe them away with his sleeve, simply just to stare again. Hypnotized, by the luminous glow in his hand. Captivated, by the contents displayed inside of a small rectangular screen. The dark hallway adding to the ominous, unnerving atmosphere that suddenly befell upon the small cozy home of a generous family.

Rigid, paralyzed; disturbingly reminiscent of the numbing, terrifying sensation that was being frozen. His thumb felt stiff, tapping the downwards keypad, scrolling down the seemingly endless list of missed messages and voicemails, each one tightening the already straining knot that somehow had manifested itself inside his chest.

"How is this possible?" Subaru heard himself say.

Ever since he had awoken inside of that sewer, he found himself reiterating the same question over and over again, never seeming to find an answer in most cases. But unlike the rest of them, this question was one, he didn't feel like finding out the answer to straightaway.

Once the shock had subsided, all that was left was the overpowering curiosity. He had reached the oldest-newest message in his inbox, thumb resting on the button encased inside the directional pads. It was from his dad. A distinct image of a man in his early forties, embrued itself in his mind's eye, clinging itself into his subconscious with the intent of never letting go. Latching onto him, like a parasite meaning only to do harm.

With the appearance of the man came the details that segregated him from the lineaments of many other noticeable individuals he had crossed paths within his life. From the short black hair that resembled very much Subaru, to his facial appearance. Chiseled and unlined, rugged and handsome in texture, playing well the part of a much aged Subaru, except bearing glasses that highlighted his black fearless eyes, along with a sculpted, very well-built physique that earned him email addresses in abundance from giggling herds of hopeful high school girls. Culminating together, to embody the form of a ferocious lion, despite his lax and mostly playful, offhand attitude.

Subaru was still staring, looking at it, as he never had before. All this time... How long had he had these messages for? And, Does he dare lend an ear to the voices he resolved, long after he came to this world, never to revive again in his thoughts?

The answer came to him in a heartbeat, as if purely on instinct. He took a step backward, slamming against the door, his free hand, hastily grasping air multiple times before grabbing hold of the doorknob, twisting it open, entering, and closing it shut.

As he stepped into the room, he only had time to give it a quick glance through before reverting his undivided attention back onto the phone. In that hurried peek he saw, a small modest space, furnished by a small unmade bed occupying an area in the middle. A bedside table with a book laid sprawled open right beside it. At the other end of the room was a leaded window, squarish and short in size, masked by curtains hanging lifelessly above it, except for a small slit in the middle that allowed a hint of moonlight to filter through, shimmering dust particles swaying slowly in the shine.

Still gazing attentively at his phone, Subaru scampered his way onto the bed, neglecting to remove his sneakers as he laid his feet against the footboard. He sat upright, inclined, his head resting on the headboard.

For a long while, he was motionless, though his thumb urged itself downwards every few seconds, the voicemail remains yet to be opened. Truth be told, he was afraid... listening to this means to acknowledge his disappearance from their lives. And there we so many... so many missed messages, missed words. How long did they look, he wondered, till they finally gave up on him? Until they finally realized that the void in their lives will always remain empty? And what words did they have for him, after failing to come home from a quick trip into a convenience store?

Only one way to find out...

Slowly, he applied a small bit of pressure on the button and felt a tiny exerted click around the skin of his thumbs. A moment later, with his breath kept inhaled, a voice sounded, sourcing from the tiny little speaker built into the device, blaring a tone that was unconcerned, loud and cheerful, assailing the quietness of the night that was so well preserved, saying,

"Subaru? You there? Well, you ain't answering your phone so I guess not. Anyways, I just called cause It's time you got a lecturing, boy. How many times do I have to tell you to inform us if you're staying out? Wait... you don't go out anyway... But even so! You still have to tell us when you do! We'll celebrate and everything! Honestly, your mother came back with beef y'know? It's your loss your missing out on the beefsteak, I'm eating your share and you can't-- Ow! Okay! Fine... Your mother said your share is in the fridge, heat it up when you come back. Oh yeah, be sure to text me when you're coming back, can't really train without a wrestling buddy."

It was a while before Subaru realized the message had ended. He felt strange in a way... Something as normal as a voicemail felt more alien to him than something as unreal as ground dragons, magic, demons, and mabeasts. Yet at the same time, it felt so familiar, like riding a bike after a few years of not doing so.

Unsettled, Subaru clicked upwards and selected the next voicemail. This time a soft-spoken feminine voice came to gently greet the silent ambiance, emanating a manner that implied worry and great distress, saying,

"Hello? Subaru? If you get this, please call me back as soon as possible. It's been two days already, what's keeping you? I tried calling your school and they said you were absent today and yesterday. No note, no text... I know your Dad said not to worry, you're probably with a friend, or your battery is dead or you have no signal, or maybe something else... But the thing is, I do worry. That's what mothers are made to do, and when we came back and you weren't home, I panicked because you're always home and so I...-"

The voice kept going on and on, voicing its concern and paranoia in great detail. A small snort of amusement came out of Subaru and a smile, one of joy or sorrow, he didn't know, formed on his face.

A scene illustrating a woman pacing up and down a corridor with a phone affixed to one ear, started playing out in his head. If his dad was a mighty lion, then his mother was a lone wolf. Her oval-shaped face, that bore the infamous "evil gaze" that he had acquired, now forming an expression void of any form malice and instead filled with apprehension. One hand nervously twirling her coffee-colored hair, tied into a ponytail that rested on her shoulder. The yellow apron she donned outside of her clothes, covering her slender figure, stained from cooking.

Once again, Subaru smiled at the thought of this, but at the same time, a heavy burden weighed heavily in his heart, a huge rush of emotion came crashing down on him, like a tsunami slamming into a building, and his eyes started to glisten under the luminescence of the moon. It wasn't long before his face began to burn as the message reaches its conclusion.

"-Anyway, I just want you to know that I love you, alright? Be safe, don't get into trouble and come home soon, okay? And remember to call me back. Bye."

Selecting and reading the immeasurable amount of text messages proved difficult to do so under his blurred, watery vision. Messages like:

-Where are you? Please come home soon.

-We talked to the police... Did you run away? Please answer us.

-A missing person report was filed. Tell us you aren't dead, please.

Only added further into the bitterness he felt. He let the tears fall, damping his shirt, not bothering to wipe the trails of water away from his cheeks. Something inside of him was howling, a voice, lamenting the despair he felt, the sadness. He reached another voicemail and played it.

It was from his Dad. This time, however, his voice no longer carried itself with the confidence and liveliness it did before, instead, it was hollow, quiet, disbelieving in a way, as if the notion of his son being missing hadn't really struck in quite yet.

"The police told us to keep in touch with you, just in case you respond. Heh, I was going to do so anyway even if they didn't tell me that. I contacted the neighborhood, your mom spoke to the school... hopefully they'll be able to find you, even if you are..... Well, I'm going to be frank with you Subaru. It's hard living without you. Your mom and I... Did we? I mean--have we? I mean maybe we did something. We don't know why you would just up and leave and so I thought... Did we do something to upset you? Ah man, I'm not good with this--but if we have done something, we're sorry alright? If you tell us what it is, we won't do it again, I swear... Anyway, I have to attend to your mother, been crying her eyes out for the past two weeks now. I try to keep the mood up, but it's hard. You know how she is... everything is always about you to her. Please call back."

Guilt. Subaru finally realized the reason for the aching he felt, what emotion was harboring deep beneath the misery and heartache that threatened to tear him apart from the inside. It was guilt. How could he just nonchalantly decide to forget about his old life? What right did he have to start over anew, while his parents mourn and mope over their missing child?

He was disgusted with himself. All the times he had been enjoyed himself in this world, his parents were suffering in theirs. He was angry, he was furious and he was enraged. A huge part of him wanted to instill pain onto himself, fling himself out the window, beat himself to a pulp, or even stab his arms, anything he could think of to punish himself for his ignorance. But he restrained, barely, his eyes continuing to leak warm bitter tears, as he clenched his teeth up in agony.

"D-Damn... it..." He whimpered, unable to think of anything else to express his sorrow. "Damn it... Damn it... Damn it... Damn it... Damn it... Damn it!"

He wanted to scream, he wanted to shout, he wanted to rip away these emotions he felt, it was as if a raging fire had ignited itself inside him, uncontrollable, inextinguishable. Burning away his insides like paper.

A feeling that intensified further, upon reluctantly continuing his venture across missed calls and messages.

"I caught your mom yesterday.... looking through the photo album. Funny, I never really noticed how much you look just like her. Her brown eyes, her nose... heh, you even glare like her sometimes in the photos. Anyway, she took some pictures of you out and placed them beside the bed... to keep close. Y'know... It's hard. Hearing her cry herself to sleep, clutching your photos. I... I can't do anything about that... I can't help her. Look, I'm not asking for much, but just please... please for the love of God. Let her hear something from you... Let her hear your voice, you don't even have to talk to me... Just let her hear you... one sentence, just one sentence, that's all I ask. It can be anything... "I'm fine" "I'm doing good" or "I love you" anything... just stop her crying... It hurts to hear... hurts to see. I can't stand it anymore. That's it. That's all for now... Be sure to call back alright? See you."

He let a few more play out and read even more messages. It was hard to tell how much time had passed. But after what seemed like the hundredth message, Subaru glanced through blurred vision at the time in his phone and saw that it was ten minutes to five. Beside it indicated two-thirds of his battery life had gone and immediately, a surge of urgency penetrated into his head.

He wasn't even halfway done yet... There was still so much. So much more to read, to listen to. Nonetheless, he needed to stop. If he continued anymore, it may very well be the last time he'll ever hear his parents again.

Sniffling, he resigned himself to one last voicemail, skimming past text messages, dozens at a time, and picked one completely at random, bracing himself for the words he was about to hear. But what came next, he wasn't prepared for.

"Subaru?"

It was his mother. His body tensed and stiffen harder than stone, upon hearing her voice fill the sullenness night that accompanied him all this time. Apart from the second voicemail he opened, this was the only other that belonged to his mother. The rest had been from his father. It'd be an understatement to say that he had been caught off guard by this.

"Are you there? Listen, I'm sorry that I hadn't been contacting you much... You're probably really angry with me, right now. But I'm sure your father was good enough company, you two were always close, so I'm positive you weren't lonely without me."

Something was off, and Subaru knew it. Her voice felt robotic, unnatural and unusually polite. It was as if she was having a normal conversation with him. It was hard detecting any form of longing or grief in her tone, deafen or maybe muted by the casualness of her mannerisms.

"Anyway, a lot has happened since my last call. We renovated the house, painted it up a bit and we finally decided to spruce up the garden. It was all your father's idea and I can tell you this, it kept us really, really busy for months. Oh! Don't worry though! We haven't laid a single finger on your room. So, when you do come back... It'll be just as you left it."

He might have imagined it, but he could almost guarantee picking up a slight waver as she spoke her last sentence. Her deep breath afterward, further strengthened his suspicion.

"Remember the Anime we used to watch together? Well, it just finished airing the season finale last week. The ending was good... but it was also quite sad in my opinion, your Dad liked it but I don't agree as much. Sorry if I spoiled you, but I found it quite depressing, knowing the boy could never return to his world. But at least he still has his friends in the other world to keep him company, and he looked quite happy being there. It made me wonder actually... Are you happy wherever you are? Do you also have friends there to make you smile and laugh? Did you also meet a beautiful girl, like in the Anime? Sorry, sorry... I'm rambling again. It's just... I really miss you, Subaru. I really, really do."

It was no longer just a feeling, her voice was shaking slightly more with each word. A huge intake of breath was heard again, and when she spoke, it was with great effort to continue the façade.

"Anyway, it's April First tomorrow. Normally, people would be thinking up pranks and jokes to play on each other when the time comes. But we both know what that day means to you, right Subaru? I-It's your birthday, Subaru, your birthday..."

The pretense she was trying to pass up was quickly demolished and abandoned. She was whimpering now, at the mention of his birthday, it probably was too much for her. And it was very much true for Subaru too. All this while, tears continue to river down his cheeks in tons, stifling his trembling sobs with a hand, the other mildly shaking the phone in his grasp, which continued its playback without relent.

"I don't know if your father remembered... Maybe he didn't want to remind me. But a mother never forgets. I-I prepared the ingredients. Your cake... You wanted chocolate, right? Well, they didn't have it anymore at the stores I went to... So... is vanilla alright? I know it isn't what you wanted, but I promise to get you something else. A new phone, maybe? You always said how much you wanted a new phone. When you come back, we'll go looking for one, okay? Just... make sure you do come back... How long will you be gone? It's been almost a year, Subaru, how long more? How long until I can see you again? Please... at least tell me this much..."

"Not long more, mom. I'll... I'll come home, I'll see you again. I promise, please stop crying."

It felt silly to reassure an audio recording, but Subaru couldn't help himself. No amount of physical pain can ever compare to this... He spoke without thinking. He didn't even bother to question how it had been almost a year when in reality, he had only arrived here mere months ago.

"I'll... make the cake, as usual, in the morning. But... a part of me feels that you won't be home by then. And... You only turn eighteen once, and I will never forgive myself if you didn't hear me wish you at least. So I'll wish you now, just in case I can't do it tomorrow..."

Another large inhale was taken, and when she was heard again, a gracious melody she sang, filled with such sorrow and loss that was amplified further by the isolation he felt alone in this dark room. Though it was a song he had heard countless of times, enough so that it had become mundane throughout the years, right now, it was anything but that. He was a sobbing mess, hearing his mother sing to him, a song everybody always sings at a yearly occasion.

"Happy birthday to you, Happy birthday to you,
Happy birthday to Subaru-kun. Happy birthday to you."

"Sorry if it sounded terrible. You know I can't sing a tune to save my life. But, I hope you liked it, my son. My dear, dear boy. My Subaru... I love you. I love you so, so much. Always know, that wherever you are, you'll always be in my heart, my soul. Know that I'll be always thinking of you. And as long as you are happy, I will be twice as happy as you are... Even if I can't... Even if I don't sound like it right now. Eat well... Don't mix with the wrong people... And... Stay safe. I love you."

An alternate storyline where Subaru, having been rejected by Rem in episode 18, chose to fled the nation alone. Now, with no one to turn to, and a stranger in a land unfamiliar to him, He'll strive to achieve a life without peril, and hopefully, without a need to Restart.

The Alarm clock beeps once and after that, a hologram displays itself above it. A woman dressed in casual attire smiles broadly as she looks at the young woman laying in the bed.

This is the latest model of Artificial Intelligence that has been released to the public. I named her Violet. Her main purpose is home security but has plenty of other uses. For example, telling the news and keeping you up to date with latest trends. It can even call for takeout food based on your preference and sign packages off. But this is getting off track. Back to the story.

"Happy Birthday Miss Luna. It is July 24th 2550. The time is 5:30am and the first thing on your schedule is exercise. It is scheduled for 5:40 am. You have 3 unchecked messages.  Would you like me to play them?"

As I listen, I slowly stretch my self. 

"Sure, play them." After saying this I go to my wardrobe and find some workout clothes and begin my morning workout. Starting out with simple stretches and going onto doing 50 situps to work on my core. Next, I do 3 reps of 20 squats. While I am doing this, Violet plays my messages. The first one is from my father.

'Good Morning and happy birthday Scarlett. I won't be able to come back today but I'll be there next weekend. But don't be upset yet. Afterschool today, you will see a suprise gift to make up for me not being there. I hope you will like your present.'

Next is from the class representative, Lisa...

'Happy Birthday Scarlett! Were gonna have a mini celebration with the class at that Restaurant across the street from the school.  Also, there is a new MMO coming out on saturday but if you buy the newest VR Cabin, you get it for free. Anyway, our Student Council is hosting a get together on it and I am also gonna be there. I also hope to see you there.'

As the message ends, I think to myself, 'I really don't want to go but I would waste everyone's time and money if I didn't show up. I guess I'm stuck going there...'

I was about to sigh to myself when the next message interrupted my thoughts.

'You have been randomly selected from the top students in your county to participate in the early release of our brand new MMORPG, Creed of the Fallen. You also have been sent the newest model VR Cabin and it will be arriving at your house in 1 hour. All we ask of you is to livestream your entire play session and relay your experience to our company and you will get to keep the equipment as payment as well as a bronze growth equipment set that you can upgrade along the way using other equipment. If the equipment has more than 1 special ability. The system will choose from what you don't have on your set already. We hope you enjoy our game.'

"..."

I stop doing my excercises and ask Violet a question.

"Give me the latest information on the MMORPG called Creed of the Fallen."

"Yes... Creed of the Fallen is the first VRMMORPG to utilize what is known as the Dream Battle Simulation Technology which is what the military uses to trains its soldiers. It puts your body in a light sleep while it projects  the chosen simulation into your brain. As the first public pioneer of the technology, the game company is working with the military to ensure that there are no problems with the equipment. The new VR Cabin model that comes out with the game is said to stimulate the muscle in the body and comes with a nutrient solution that stimulates the cells in the human body. As for the game itself; It is a fantasy mmorpg but has elements of the past and present. For example, there are carriages and there are also hovercars as modes of transportation. The game has 3 modes. Assisted mode, Half-manual mode and fully manual mode. Assisted mode makes it so the game performs the action or skill for you. This is generally for people who have never played a vrmmorpg before. Half-manual mode  is for people who have some familiarity with vr games but are not used to being in combat. Manual mode is for people who are very familiar with vr games also people who are familiar with combat. The game is set to release on Saturday. Would you like to clear your schedule for Saturday?"

"Go ahead and clear my schedule for Saturday  and sunday."

"Right away."

After listening to my messages, I spend another 30 minutes working out before finishing and taking a shower. Then I make a small breakfast. 

While eating breakfast, my doorbell rings as I was reminded that I would be recieving a vr cabin to promote that new game. I got up and made my way to the door and tap the display on the wall and three people show up on the camera feed.

"Package for Miss Scarlett Luna."

I open the door and greet the 3 people. 2 of them are wearing the game company's branded working outfits and the other one is wearing a business casual outfit. 

"Good Morning Miss Luna. I am Chris Hansen, and I am the representative for the Dogma Gaming Company. While these two are installing your cabin, I hope you can complete this survey."

"Sure, come on in." I invite them in and ask the other 2 to install the cabin in my bedroom while I bring Mr. Hansen to the living room so I can do this survey. "What's this survey for?"

"Oh, Its just to recommend what game operation mode you would like to use. Alright lets begin. Do you have combat experience?

"No combat experience but I have trained with my father since I was young. My father is in the military currently and doesn't have time to teach me so I just learn and practice on my own."

"Great, next question. Do you have experience with other VR Games?"

"No, never thought of playing them. I just tried to study hard to get into a good Academy."

"Oh, what academy are you aiming for?"

"Eclipse Academy in the capital."

"Great, That's near the company."

"Why is it great?"

"It's great because all of the early players will be invited to visit the company for a tour in 2 months and bring any feedback they have. Whether its yours or your friends."

"Oh, Alright."

"Next question. Would you choose 2 classes and what would they be?"

"You can pick 2 classes?"

"Not at first but after you become Lvl 10, you can either stick to one class or choose a secondary class and use it in tandem with the primary class."

"What classes are there?"

"In the game currently, there are Thieves, Berserker, Hunters, Rifleman, Knight, Warrior, Paladin, Mage, Cursemancer, Summoner, Cleric, Holy Mage, Swordsman, and elementalists. Out of these classes, which 2 do you think suit you the best?"

"... It would probably have to be the Thief and the rifleman."

"If you as a thief were going up against a knight with high defense, and low mobility setup, how would youj handle him or her?"

"Oh, that's easy. I would play with them until their emotional state became imbalanced and kicked them off the game."

"That's... very sinister."

"The winner is king. How I won wouldn't be important."

After a couple more questions, the installers came back to the living room and said that they were finished and were waiting on us so Chris placed a contract on the table.

"What's this for?" I ask curiously as I read what the top of the paper says. 'Partner Program'

"This is the Partner Program contract for you since you are gonna live stream your play session. The early release starts at 5:30 pm this evening so make sure you clear out your schedule. The contract states that you are to livestream at least once everyday for 3 hours a day. It also makes it so that when your viewers watch the stream for a certain amount of time, you and them get rewards sent to your mailbox or your personal storage of you have one. There really isn't anything too bad. It might as well say "do those things and you keep your vr cabin." Is this fine?"

"Sure." I sign it right away and Mr. Hansen takes it away and shakes my hand. After the contract was signed, Mr. Hansen and the 2 installers left my house while I also left my house to go to school.

Its is about a young woman fresh out of High School that has a very high IQ and a very low EQ. She is very good at self defense. And carries a dagger on her thigh at all times unless she is at home. She ended up being the Top Scorer in the county for the end of the year tests and earned a chance to play the new and upcoming game, Creed of the Fallen. The game company, Dogma Gaming, sent her a free VR gaming cabin and the privalage to play their game early while livestreaming it. This is when her gaming legend begins.

"Lu Tini has severely injured martial grandmaster Lu Xiu and openly stolen the miraculous herb that could have saved Lu Qubing's life!" [Lu Qubing, Lu Xiu and Lu Tini have different family names, but the pronunciation is the same.]
The news spread like flowing water throughout the 13 Eastern Cities. In a moment, the entire 13 Eastern Cities were shaken.
Countless people who were on good terms with Lu Qubing drew their swords, while the Rising Dragon Army's Four Great Generals mobilized the entire Rising Dragon Army.
The Royal Forest Military's Three Great Generals had already ordered their subordinates to move even before they received the Royal Forest Military Viceroy's orders.
When the Grand Sky Military, the Hanging Sun Legion, and the Soaring Phoenix Corps heard the news, they all took action as well.
Soon, the 13 Eastern Cities had delved into this situation with their daggers drawn.
As far as the leader of the 13 Eastern Cities was concerned, although Jin Zaitian was infuriated, he ultimately restrained himself.
Injured men could recover, but the Ascending Nine-Orifice Sky Lotus had to be retrieved! Thus, after some serious consideration, Jin Zaitian asked the Edgeless Spiritual Master to come forward and tell Lu Tini to hand over the Ascending Nine-Orifice Sky Lotus.
Everything else that had happened could be overlooked.
These conditions were unfair for Lu Xiu and everyone else who had gotten hurt. However, when Jin Zaitian listed his terms, they accepted them silently.
When the Edgeless Spiritual Master received Jin Zaitian's request, he told Jin Zaitian that he had already met with Lu Tini.
However, Lu Tini had refused to return the Ascending Nine-Orifice Sky Lotus and said that it would be a present for Unrivaled Warrior Johann's 80th birthday. He also told the 13 Eastern Cities to behave.
Jin Zaitian couldn't imagine the Ascending Nine-Orifice Sky Lotus being used as a birthday present. Although he felt extremely sullen, he still asked the Edgeless Spiritual Master to come out again and pass on the massage that the 13 Eastern Cities were willing to provide a new present.
This issue really tested Jin Zaitian's limits. Although he was unwilling to compromise, he had no other choice right now.
He wanted Lu Qubing to live, but he didn't want to wage war against a god-grade powerhouse. Although Lu Tini was an extremely despicable person, his ranking on the Divine List was high.
Furthermore, he also had Unrivaled Warrior Johann's support.

Lu Tini had to travel through an unforgiving desert before he reached the ancient city of Mei'ya, so Jinrui Mountain was an area he had to pass.

The setting sun was the color of blood. Many young men gazed out into the distance, all of them clutching their weapons tightly as hints of killing intent emanated from them.
That day, they would be slaying a god. They might be insignificant, but they couldn't stand this uncalled for humiliation. Thus, they would make that god-grade powerhouse pay and wash away this humiliation with his blood, even if they had to pay with their lives.
Xu Zhong's bald head glowed as he stood in the middle of a group of young people. Although he hadn't been familiar with Lu Tini's name in the past, he was now itching to beat him to a pulp.
Chief Instructor Lu was a great person! 
Memories of his time spent with Chief Instructor Lu flashed across Xu Zhong's mind. The final image he saw was one of their last drinking session.
Lu Xiu had been extremely happy that day. He had cried and laughed and told Xu Zhong excitedly that the Viceroy was going to be saved.

These shallow actions and short-sighted insight would probably anger everyone.
The Unrivaled Warrior's disciple had put particular emphasis on the words 'sick man'.
As Jin Zaitian clenched his fists tightly, a subordinate opened the door and turned on the screen in the room without saying a word.
On the screen, the brutal sun was still shining. However, a kneeling figure gave off a golden glow underneath the sunlight.
The figure looked just like the image of a god. Although he was kneeling before the mountain, he seemed like a colossal presence, like a peak even higher than Jinrui Mountain…
Tears flowed uncontrollably down Jin Zaitian's face as he looked at this familiar, albeit skinnier figure.

However, he really couldn't control himself that day. He had lost complete control of his emotions.

In my bedroom, I kept on thinking. I totally forgot about James. My head was filled with what happened today. 'What does he mean? He was wrong about what?' "Aaaaaarrrrggghhhh!!!!" I pulled my hair as I got so frustrated. 

'I like Liam a lot, but it seems like I'm not ready for him.' I sighed. "Does he like me too? How about Liza?" I looked at my phone and there's a message from James. "What happened? You didn't message me?"

"Im sorry, was held up a little. Still up?"

After five minutes, he replied. "Yeah, can't sleep. I was going to confess to the girl I like earlier, but I think I was turned down."

"Wat?!? 4 real? She sux then! U dont deserve sum1 like her!" 

"Don't say that. By far, she's the best girl I've ever met. I will wait for her until she is old enough to accept me."

"Woah! So loyal! Come 2 me & ill accept u :) ull find out im better dan her." 

"Probably! So what  held you up?"

"Dat, lets not talk about it. Maybe next time."
"Im off 2 bed now txt u 2moro gudnyt"

I sent him three messages one after the other and I went to bed.

Next day, Liam came and we walked again together. While we were walking, he told me that he will stop working at the post office. He was hired at the cafe near Edgewood College and that he will be moving to a dorm near there too so he will be closer to school.

I couldn't say anything. I don't know what to say. I want to stop him. But how? I'm no one in his life. "When are you leaving?" 'Damn! Did I just ask him that? He might take it the wrong way.'

"Next week I'm moving to my dorm. But tomorrow, I won't be able to walk with you or pick you up from school. I'll be home late too."

I just nodded. I tried to gather my strength and forced a smile, "That's okay! When I go there you should treat me for a coffee." I winked at him to cheer the mood up. 

He just smiled a little, "Of course, be sure to visit."

We separated when his bus came. I continued to walk to school.

I went to work at the post office as usual, but this time, no Liam. I don't want to work there anymore. So I told Mr Phillips that I have to stop working so I can focus on my exams. He said okay and everything was fine.

One week has passed. We haven't seen each other for a week. I really miss him. But James was more active than before. He never failed to text me in the morning at lunchtime and in the afternoon after school. 

I told James that my birthday is coming soon. I invited him but he said he will be away that day. But he said he will definitely message me on my birthday to send his birthday greeting and wishes for me.

Two weeks now, still no Liam, my Saturday and Sundays are boring. First, it was Liza, now it's Liam, who's next? My birthday is coming and I have no one. 

It's my birthday today. James was the first one to greet me at 12 midnight saying, "Happy Birthday Skye. I wish you happiness."

"Is dat it?"

"Why are you awake? It's late."

"It's my bday, im allowed."

"I'm going to bed now, I'll message you in the morning"

"I wonder if Liam knows my birthday? Will he come if he knows? Does he even think about me? Do I even cross his mind?" I sighed, 'Probably not,' with that thought, I went to bed.

My mum greeted me and gave me my birthday present. Dad has his own gift for me as well. Since it's Saturday, I'm having my party at our house. I invited some of my friends from school and Liza. 

It was 5 PM when Liza came, Joey followed and so are my other friends. We were having fun, we chatted and laughed at Joey's jokes. We sang songs from our Symphony Grandvideoke machine. Joey has a great voice and sang five songs already, it doesn't seem like he will stop anytime soon. 

Then it was time to sing a birthday song for me and of course, Joey led them. It's time to blow the candle and for my birthday wish. I closed my eyes, 'I wish for Liam to be here and wish me a happy birthday. That's all I want this year.' and I blew the candle and I smiled after.

It has been a wonderful 3 days. Jay spent the next 3 days taking Belle around Paris. It was one of the best time of his life. He has never felt at ease and he really enjoyed Belle's company. Soon he realised that he grew very fond of her and wanted to send every moment with her. But he did know that this would soon come to an end. She would need to go home. 

They finally reached back home and said their good nights. Belle was tired and happy. It has been a while since she felt this way. She decided to pamper herself with a bubble bath before hitting the bed. She remembered that she bought a Bath Bomb. It was somewhere in her luggage. She dug thru her luggage but something else caught her eyes. It was her phone and Alex's present. She picked them up and placed it on her bed.

Belle closed her eyes and thought to herself "Its time. I need to get back to reality. I would have to face it sooner or later". She picked up the phone and turned it on. 51 voice messages. 258 missed calls. 439 messages. Belle scrolled thru the missed call numbers. "Alex, Alex, Alex, and more Alex. Huh, Jamie, Cass and Joe called as well. A lot of times. Something must be up. Let's check the messages. Alex, delete, delete, delete."

Jamie : Where the hell are you? Alex has called me 1001 times. I heard you both argued. Another thing, why on earth are you in Paper Times with Jay Joseph Pierre!! Call me back.

Cass : Boss! When are you coming back to work? There has been reporters in our cafes everyday enquiring you. Oh, and it is going to be Jayden's birthday soon. Joe called. I've already arranged for the deco and the cake to be baked. You would be there right. Also, are you all right? Alex has been here waiting for you for the past 1 week.

Joe : Belle Page! If you have forgotten, your nephew is turning 5 next Saturday. 2 weeks from now. He wants a jungle theme party. I've already told your assistant. Where are you? I think we need to talk. I guess you and Alex had a really big fight else he would not call me for you. What ever it is, I'm here for you.

Belle sighed to herself and snickered "We fought? My ass. If they knew what he did, he will be so dead". Her eyes darted to the gift and tears trickled down her face again. She was 5000 over miles away but he still had this effect on her. 

She knew it was time for her to pack up and face the reality. She had to take care of work, answer to Joe and Jamie but most of all, sort out her stuff and kick Alex out of her life. At the same time, she thought of Jay. He was the sweetest person ever. He took care of her, showed her around and gave her a great holiday. Belle knew her heart fluttered a little around him but she wasn't ready to dive into another relationship. 

At that point Belle decided to spend 1 more day with Jay and head home after that. She would have the last best day with Jay and not see him again. She would move on and start a brand new life.

Belle once loved a guy for 7 years but he cheated on her. Will she ever able to love again?
