The rest of the training went by quickly, as Elder Xing went over the basics pros and cons of each weapon that Bai Qi asked about. Most of it was instinctive to Bai Qi, though there were some weapons that caused him to raise his eyebrows.
After the hours had gone by, Bai Qi was engrossed in the lesson, a low chime reached their ears.
"Ah," Elder Xing said. "Lunchtime."
He turned around, putting all the weapons away, and opened up a doorway leading back to the cafeteria. "Go ahead," Xing motioned. "I have matters to take care of, so eat without me, and wait at the dining hall. Elder Mu will pick you up for your lessons after."
Bai Qi walked through the doorway into the dining hall, taking a seat at the curved table. The elder from breakfast, the one that was reading at the end of the table was surprisingly still there, giving the impression he had been sitting there the entire time. He was nonchalantly munching on the bread. He looked up at Bai Qi as he walked in, then went back to his parchments.
The room was already filling up, as the chime from before signaled the gates opening. As Bai Qi sat there, Elder Fang came bumbling in, with what looked like a cat on his shoulders.
"Bai Qi," Elder Fang said, nodding at him. The cat on his shoulders hissed at Bai Qi, and unfolded wings from its back, taking off from Elder Fang's shoulder.
"Oh no you don't," Elder Fang said, swiping and grabbing the cat by its hind leg. 'Don't mind it, she's moody most of the time."
Elder Fang plopped the cat back on his shoulder, and the cat hissed again, swiping at Elder Fang's face with its pudgy arm, claws out, Elder Fang tilting his head back to dodge. "Harmless," he said, not reassuring Bai Qi at all.
"I'm sure she is," Bai Qi said.
"Well, I would have loved to come by and chat about how your days been," Elder Fang said, "but I need to get the monthly rations and head back to my animals."
The elder at the end of the table looked up, and then tossed a ring towards Elder Fang, then looked back down. Elder Fang briefly looked at the ring, then put it on. "Well, that's it for me," he said, as he waved goodbye, walking through the gateway.
The dining room was considerably emptier compared to the breakfast crowd. The afterglow from the gateways slowly faded away one by one as food started to appear on the tables.
Bai Qi slowly grabbed food, and ate, ignoring the momentary glances from the other people. He felt really out of place, though this was more of him feeling like someone on display, as he couldn't really eat faster to finish early and leave since Elder Mu would be meeting him here. For that reason, he tried to slow down, but the lessons from Elder Xing had left him hungry, so he couldn't help but finish eating quickly.
As time went by, more and more people finished eating. The dining hall slowly started emptying, one table at a time, until there were only about a handful of people left, mainly situated around a single table. They were engrossed in a discussion.
Some more time had gone by, the elder at the end of the table looked up, then cleared his throat, the sound being amplified through the hall, The people at the table looked up, and waved at the elder, before collecting their items, and bowing before leaving. As they left, the glowing orbs and the candles on each table dimmed, before going out completely.
The hall was basked in shadows, with sunlight coming in windows, illuminating patches at a time. The elder table was still illuminated.
Slowly the minutes trickled by, as Bai Qi sat there, wondering if Elder Mu had completely forgotten him. The elder on the other end of the table even looked at Bai Qi curiously, wondering why Bai qi was still there, but not bothering to say anything.
After a while, Bai qi lost hope, and as things seemed bleak, where Bai Qi considered asking the Elder for help, the gate glowed, and Elder Mu stepped out. "Miss me?" he asked, as he walked through.
"Late much," Bai Qi replied.
"I got caught up in some matters."
Bai Qi gestured at the hall behind him.
"It was a series of  important matters."
Bai Qi gestured again.
"Cheeky huh," Elder Mu said, sitting down, and bringing up some food in front of him.
Bai Qi just stared at him.
"I didn't eat."
Elder Mu did scarf down the food quickly, and washed everything down with a single drink, before standing up and motioning Bai Qi to get up as well. He raised his hand towards the elder at the other end of the table, and the Elder nodded back, focusing on his parchments once again.
"Let's go," Elder Mu said, taking the stairs down from the platform. Bai Qi followed suit, as Elder Mu walked the length of the dining hall until they reached the end, where Elder Mu pushed open a door and motioned Bai Qi to go through.
"Back to the garden?"
"Yep," Elder Mu said nonchalantly. They walked briskly, following the twisting cobblestone road, until they circled the mage tower, coming into sight with Elder Mu's garden.
"Have you looked into the books I gave you yesterday," Elder Mu asked suddenly.
"Just a bit," Bai Qi replied. " I flipped through some of the pages, though I couldn't make understand most of what I saw."
Elder Mu nodded. "So the boy wonder doesn't know everything."
Bai Qi chuckled. "Is that what they're calling me?"

Finals are over, as I mentioned before. This chapter is unfinished and a bit rushed, mostly because I have been working on some other things in the last few weeks. Some of which have been rewriting the entire outline for this story.

To start, I need to make some drastic changes, things I'm going to be doing over the week. I have been a bit distant from this novel, which I am going to admit, mostly because I had a hard time fleshing out what each chapter was going to be, and I think the biggest problem is because I'm forcing myself to adhere to rules in a fantasy novel, which if you ask me, is probably the stupidest thing I can do.

So I started an entire overhaul. I know I mentioned the last chapter that I was going to westernize the novel sometime in the future, but the problem is that I can't keep with the eastern influences and the rules they have because it's going to force me to rewrite my novel sometime in the future. One example of this is the metal element in Chinese cultures, being part of the 5 main elements. While I like the idea of 5 elements, I think to have wind as a core element is much more important. If I keep at what I'm doing right now, metal is going to end up being a useless element, or an overlooked one, or wind is going to end up being a useless element, forcing me to choose between them. Honestly, wind is much more versatile, and fits more with the idea of a paragon, with metal falling under Earth, no shade intended at the Chinese elements.

Second is the problem with time. When creating a calendar to follow the event's I realized that I didn't really like 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 52 weeks a year, or 365 days time standard that we have. I mean, just looking at the numbers, to someone else, those might seem random, though I do understand where they come from. And then it hit me. This is a fantasy world. Why do I need to follow rules set for Earth? Base 10 is so much nicer, and just makes sense, so I made a 25 hours a day, 10 days a week, 4 weeks a month, for 10 months, giving us a total of 400 days a year. A much nicer and rounded number, and it's decently close to Earth's rotations, so I can keep the same physics, as well as add a few changes of my own. Also, why be limited to one moon? Two moons are dope. Say hello to Yvnamior, and Yvnamaus, the two moons of this world. Yep. You guys can access the beta calendar here, I made a draft:

Link's gonna be posted on discord, as well as a full list of the changes I'm making. I'm just going to mention the important points. I also realized I've been ignoring the discord, so I'm going to try and interact with the discord a bit more.

Names as well. For now, I'm going to keep the names. Over the summer, I'm going to try and create a phonetic language, so that I can generate names that have meanings, that actually interact with the world. Why have a fantasy world be limited to Chinese culture?

Another small change that I'm making is creating a runic system to stand alongside the system of magic circles. This is going to be a small detail for now, as I had already had the idea, tying the runic system to a group that is already part of the story. For now, the runic symbols will be used to replace the Chinese element characters that some of you guys noticed on the cover of this novel.

In this week and next, I'm going to go back, and slowly edit out the discrepancies in my story. Those that have your notifs on, you'll see the story being updated, you can ignore them for now. When I release the next chapter, I should be finished with the changes I'm making.

Some of you guys on the discord already know that I used calculus to keep numbers realistic, so that should just prove that I want this novel to be something special. I want it to be up there, writing so vivid that you could close your eyes and be there. I know my writing dropped a bit in quality, something that I want to bring up, so that's what this week is going to be as well.

As for what happens after this week. I'm going to try and write a chapter or two a week after this.

Hi guys, I have a news to announce for you all. Those who are reading this novel from the very beginning may know that out protagonist named Yang Wei, but somehow this name didn't bring me satisfaction.
Like most of you, I am also the fan of eastern fantasy and love reading or writing stories of this genre, but I should be honest that I am not good at coming Chinese names. I have considered for a while, even though this novel's genre belongs eastern fantasy, it will contain a lot more than just eastern fantasy as there will be other fantasy elements to it as well.
So I decided to come up with a new name for our protagonist. I have given a lot of thought and finally decided on 'Leon'.

The anime trope system is a large series (which soon will be massive) that follows the story of Clyde. 
As of now, the first main segment is The Stone vs. the Viper. Planned for a minimum of 20 volumes (at least on WN. As with all things, interest could be lost and the ranking which is already meh, could fall until it becomes an unnoticed story again.)   It's rapidly growing on Amazon and is doing really well. They level up for however long it takes, conquer quests and find special items, and then ultimately kill each other. WELL, something went horribly wrong...  As fate selected our main character, who just so happened to be a descendant of the true Stone line. The deity who the game was named after...  The second bad choice was the Viper. Normally a notorious criminal is chosen for this role, to level up and combat the Stone. A Win is a pardon for his crimes. Fate nabbed an incredibly powerful being from a deadly race. This man does not appreciate being forced into entertainment for the watchers. And has the power (and even more growing power) to wipe them all out. He may even consider doing that for the entire multiverse.

I have a unique way of doing skill fighting in the ATS novels and that's displaying magic, Ki, or any of non-physical attack move via the system prompt.  It's written in a way to not distract users, rather enhance the enemy or boss fights.

The planet they are on is known as Gaia and came to be when 4 different dimensions collided against each other and instead fused into one. 

Because of that, a Xianxia(Eastern Fantasy) world, Western Fantasy, Supernatural and Science Fiction was all combined into one.

As to how that came to be, nobody knows and won't try to know due to the absurdness of it in the first place. 

That event was known as the Collapse.

The planet Gaia is 7 times bigger than Earth while also being one of the main trading pubs of the galaxy. Cultivators and heroes from another world also come by time to time.

The world was then divided into a total of 5 zones. They are namely, the Neutral Zone, Fantasia Zone, Super Zone, Huaxia Zone, and the Avant Zone. Each zone all has a special element that can only work in that specific zone and if a person or thing crosses into a different zone, they will perish.

Fantasia Zone
- The zone has the special element known as〈Magic〉and is set around during the Medieval Times. Magic is commonly controlled with the energy known as mana. Has many different dangerous beasts commonly known as〈Monsters〉.

Times Zone
- A zone set in modern times terrorized by crime due to people abusing their abilities. Their special element is known as〈ESP〉but is also sometimes simply called as abilities. Is basically the current modern world with the exception of the fact that the reason that abilities came to be in the first place was due to a zombie apocalypse happening 100 years ago.

Huaxia Zone
- Basically every single Xianxia novel you have ever read and is only full of Chinese people.

Avant Zone
- The world that Cole lived in for 23 years before dying due to slipping off a carpet. Is a very technologically advanced zone. Its special element is its advanced technology. 

Neutral Zone
- A zone located in the middle of all the 4 other zones and a place where all 4 powers of each zone work. Nobody knows why it is such. A person who was born in the Neutral Zone is said to have access to all the special elements of each zone. If the person has moved into the Neutral Zone, they are only able to use the special element from the zone they came from.

Meet Cole Steward. A man renowned across the galaxies for his ability to make and master anything that can be used as a weapon.

At age 5, he had already turned his house into a fortress and mastered the art of the invincible frying pan.

At age 7, he mastered every single martial art known in the universe as well as every single kind of weapon in existence.

At age 10, he built an O-I heavy tank by himself with scrap metal he found in a junkyard.

At age 13, he moved on from tanks and went on to make an entire fleet of spaceships.

At age 15, he built military-grade photon lasers in his underground bunker.

At age 17, he was able to beat the No. 1 strategist of every single galaxy.

At age 20, a war started over him for his incredible talent in weapons.

At age 23, he ended that same war with his fleet of spaceships that was piloted by his fans.

And then during the awarding ceremony where he would be hailed as the galaxy's hero...

He died.

Cause of death? Him slipping on the red carpet of the room and getting his head banged on the marble stairs.

What happened after that?

He got reincarnated into a body of a Mechanica which looked exactly like him into a world which was odd, to say the least.

There was gunfire raging in the east with a Russian holding a vodka bottle while standing on top of a poor man's car.

A technologically advanced city in the north with some kind of energy field protecting it.

A fight between two martial artists wearing traditional Chinese clothing with glowing swords and colorful blasts of qi decimating the landscape in the south.

And a battle between a party of one average-looking young man and 4 other beauties which may or may not have a bushy tail or long ears against a fearsome black dragon while shouting phrases about friendship and love in the west.

He also ended up getting a 5-year-old that looked similar to him as a daughter.

Now follow Cole's adventures in a world that's too jumbled up for its own good and fighting against stupid protagonist tropes while he tries to learn how to be a normal doting father.

Irresponsible Author is irresponsible

Long time no see people, hermit here.

It's that time of the year again, time for me to write why I'm not writing. Feel free to be upset about this in the comments, while I pretend that I'll have this writing thing under control from now on.

First off, I haven't been posting for various reasons, though I have been writing again since a while ago. I had my hand injured around the start of the year and couldn't type for a while, and then got all anxious about missing deadlines for Enlightened Empire without informing all of you (again), so I didn't want to post without being caught up with my schedule at least. Luckily, there was a very convenient pandemic which forced me into a bunch of free time, so I managed to get that done eventually... but then I had like 30 chapters piled up, and reformating, scheduling and posting 30 chapters each on three different sites all at once sounded like a nightmare, so I've kept pushing it back for no good reason.

As a result, I've decided to do this in parts instead. From today on, I'll update 5 chapters a day, until I'm caught up again (which may take me a week or so).

At the same time, there's two more projects I'll be updating:

1. The Last Utopia, my dystopian sci-fantasy story, is no longer an amazon exclusive, so I'll be posting the full version for free on this site over the next week or so. For now, I'll consider this an experiment for later novels, to see if this move has any effect on book sales (positive or negative). We'll see if I'll end up doing the same for every future novel, or just for this one.

2. I've been working on a xianxia novel with some murder mystery elements mixed in which I'm comfortable to let others see now... and I already have the first couple chapters up on my pat-reon (pat-ren.com/hermitscave). I'll start posting chapters here (and unlocking more pat-reon chapters) once I've settled on a final title, and once I've got a half-decent cover. May take me between an hour and several years.

So that's everything I've got in the works, plenty of content to binge through if you still care about any of my stuff at this point. And with all that apocalypse happening outside right now, it's probably the right time for mass-content as well. I really hope this ends up being a distraction for a couple people, or that at least you'll enjoy what I'll be posting. As always, I'll promise to read the comments, though I'm not sure how far back I'm willing to go (there are a lot of them).

Hermit’s Note: My take on the kingdom building genre, which often suffers from weak characters, low stakes and contrived challenges. Buildup will be slow, with Book 1 focused on business managment, Book 2 focused on a battle for succession and only Book 3 getting into the depths of kingdom building. Welcome one and all to the planet of Terra. I am your host (and author) Daoist Weirdgod. Before we jumped right in, I figured I'd help you out with some important things to note.

First, and probably most important, is that while i classified this as a wuxia novel, i am American, so i do also draw from western fantasy also. That being said, while i love Chinese turns-of-phrase, if i use them wrong or miss the meaning please let me know. ( im editing this myself so grammer and spelling help will be appreciated)

And now for some novel terms to get you started:

Arms- weapons (grades 1-9, 5 tiers)

Arms are the weapons of war. They all have a tier, and within that tier they are graded with 9 being highest grade. The tiers are Common, Rare, Premier, Legendary, and Divine. Arms also have the chance to develop a soul. Arms with souls have their own personality and perception, granting them the ability to cultivate independently of their wielder, granting the weapon strength beyond its grade. This independence, has draw backs, as Soularms can choose to reject their wielder or even control them.

Realms- power levels ( ranks 1-9, 9 tiers)

Hey... its wuxia. of course they cultivate. Like arms, (and every other thing i grade) 9 is the highest rank before advancement. (perhaps...) The tiers of cultivators are Fighter, Warrior, Great Warrior, Grand Warrior, Warlord, Battle King(or King), Emperor, Daolord, and Supreme.

(quick realm notes) early stages

Fighter: focus - strengthen the body` and sense battle qi (strength- slightly stronger than an average person. Higher ranks approach level of an Olympic athlete) 

Warrior: focus - temper the body and sense elemental qi (strength- at least Olympic level, world-class boxer, etc. Each rank up provides at most 2 times the power of the previous rank. At this level, battle qi can be used to fight by coating the body or arm to increase durability, power, sharpness, etc.)

Great warrior: focus - purify the body with elemental qi (strength - super human. At this stage, cultivators can manipulate qi in the world via their battle ki to attack long range. They also attune 
 themselves toward a particular element (or elements)

Art- techniques (5 grades,8 tiers, 7 masterys)

Arts are the primary way fighting besides just swinging a sword around. There are only 8 tiers to Arts as Fighters cannot create Arts. Arts are titled by the level of the user( ie Warrior Art or a Battle King art). The power of an Art is based off tier of the creator, the creator's comprehension which determines the grade(low, mid, high, peak, supreme), and the mastery level of the user(entry, beginner, intermediate, master, grandmaster, arcane, origin). The greater the difference between the creator and art created, the higher the class of the art. A Great warrior would struggle to make a barely mid grade Warrior Art while an Emperor can create a peak grade Warrior Art on the toilet.

Thank you so so so much for reading my first English novel. I've been writing since I was 12, like decades ago (yeah... I'm old) and never got anything published since I was a perfectionist and my works needed research and I didn't have the means to do it back then.
I mean, how could you write about life in other countries when you never go there? I felt like a fake - that's why the only people I allowed reading my novels were my sister and a few friends whom I know would still love me no matter how weird I am in their eyes... hehehe.
Before you #coughcough Google... Well, Google and the internet weren't a thing back then (when I started writing), I didn't even have a computer. I wrote in any piece of paper I could get my hands into.
Sadly, out of maybe 100 titles I wrote for almost 20 years, 95% are gone now because my mom thought they were trash (literally) and threw them together with my old school books. It was heartbreaking because I really wanted to be a writer.
When I was young, the future seemed bleak for this poor aspiring writer from a third-world country, especially because I wrote fantasy which didn't sell well compared to contemporary. Anyway... my dream to become a writer had to take a backseat as life happened and I had to focus on making ends meet.
I have a decent job now, working as a freelancer, but I still dream to make it as a professional writer someday. I want to be able to wake up every morning and just decide that I want to write and write, and not having to think about how to put food on the table.

I really hope at least 100 readers could unlock the chapters every day, seeing that I have around 5000 people adding this book to their collection.
If each chapter of this book gets 100 unlocks every day, that means I will get
200 x 2 coins x $0.02 =$4 per day or $120 in one month if I publish 1 chapter per day.
I know it's not enough to live, so I will have to publish more chapters, and that's fine. If I published 2 chapters per day, it means with 100 unlocks, I will earn $240 in one month. At least, if I knew you are invested and are willing to support this book, I would feel encouraged to write more and more and more.

As soon came to a close and winter break rolled around, I became determined to become a better person. Although I wasn't sure where to start yet, I knew the first part of it was going "away".

I wanted to take a break from the rest of the world.

Most days were spent locked inside my room, as I wondered about what had gone so wrong about this year that managed to shake my entire world. All the things I had believed once seemed to have changed into lies. Why lies you ask?

Maybe because I relied too much on my ideal version of reality.

That was also when my mom advised me to apply for a writing program. I knew I wanted to apply, I also knew that if I failed to get accepted, I'd only have less confidence in myself.

"Just think of it as a bonus," my mom suggested. "If you get in, great! You have some skills in writing. If you don't, well you said you're not expecting to get in anyways, and you can work on it more in the future."

Deciding to take my mom's advice, I spent weeks on my comfy blue chair, staring at the computer screen.

The original plan was to write a story about a boy who had been dragged into a game of "chess". Each chess piece was controlled by another person, and if the piece was eliminated, so would the person who controlled it. The only problem was that there was a eight page limit and this story sounded more like something from a developed novel. After trying several different ways to shape it, I soon found that squeezing in fantasy/magic elements into a eight paged story (not to mention double-spaced) was extremely difficult. Not to mention emotional impact along with those elements.

A week later, I stumbled across a song.

A song that sang of a doll whose creator made her out of his loneliness. The doll wished to be free and love the creator, the "God" of this world, but the God could not give her the special love she wanted. Nevertheless, she loved him earnestly, promising to do so until the day her gears stopped turning. 

And so, before I could even figure out what I was doing, I began frantically writing. 

Writing the story of a doll who watched a boy grow. Until his mother grew ill and he didn't have the medicine to help her. This eventually led to him selling her and through a chain of events, her "death" in a fireplace. 

"...she could finally...cry."

Yes...only by being in a fireplace and feeling the melting of her fake eyes could the doll finally find relief after years of silently watching.

Many friends said it was dark. Many said it made them feel sad. But everyone agreed that it was a good story. Personally, I thought so too, and had no hesitation when it came to submitting this piece for the program application. After all, it was the best piece of work I had written.

Besides that, there was one more notable thing that happened over winter break.

Binge watching anime until three in the morning.

Just to distract myself.

Because another storm was just beginning to brew.

Why is life so hard sometimes? Well, there's no one that can recall all the troubles of life, but here I go to explain a few simple ones! Hopefully, I haven't screwed anything up yet...right?
