This is a glossary for readers who are unfamiliar with cultivation novels. Please comment if there are any terms you're confused about and want me to clarify! I'll just update as needed.

Jianghu - Normally refers to the martial arts world, but I choose to use it as a term that encompasses the cultivation world as a whole (Memories Blossoming in the Cultivation World doesn't sound quite as nice as Memories Blossoming in the Jianghu)

Cultivation - Cultivators are people who have the ability to absorb/use spiritual energy and use it to strengthen themselves. As they cultivate and level up (not unlike a pokemon), they gain longer and longer lifespans. Normally, the younger their real age is, the higher their potential, and once they pass a certain age it becomes harder to advance. The ultimate goal for most cultivators is to eventually ascend to a higher realm and gain immortality. Basically, they want to become a god.

Spiritual energy/qi/power (sorry I'm unable to commit to just one phrasing) - This is the energy of heaven and earth that exists in the natural world and can be richer or thinner depending on the area. Most sects settle in areas with the thickest spiritual energy, so they can increase the quality and quantity of their disciples. 

Pills/Elixirs - Pills are created by alchemists and contain compressed forms of spiritual qi. Can also be infused with a certain attribute/element. Elixirs are stronger versions of pills. The downside to using pills is that it can leave behind impurities in the cultivator's spiritual energy. However, most cultivators use pills, since their talent is insufficient. There are ways to purify spiritual energy after using pills.

Spirit roots - Spirit roots are a representation of talent. All cultivators have spirit roots and if a mortal is born with spirit roots, they can become a cultivator. The purer it is, the faster a person cultivates. Therefore, single element spirit roots represent higher talent and potential than tri element spirit roots. However, the element connected with spirit roots also represents the cultivator's affinity with whichever element. For example, though a cultivator with a single element fire spirit root can use water spells, they will be significantly weaker than a cultivator of the same level with dual wood and water spirit roots. Basically, cultivators with single element spirit roots advance faster, but cultivators with more elements have a more diverse range of spells to choose from.

Tribulation - Clouds carrying tribulation lightning from the heavens that strike (specifically in my cultivation system) when a cultivator attempts to ascend from nascent soul to spirit transformation stage (there may be different types of tribulation for later stages, not necessarily lightning). Since spirit transformation indicates a true transcendence from mortality and is a step towards one's own dao (spiritual path etc), the tribulation lightning is a test from the heavens to see if one is worthy. If one fails, they are forever blocked from the path to immortality.

Heart devil/demon - A psychological thorn in one's heart. Can be one's greatest fear, trauma, weakness, etc. If a cultivator is affected by this, they may have a mental barrier blocking their cultivation. During tribulation, the tribulation lightning not only physically attacks, but also mentally attacks by attempting to bring up any kind of heart devil/demon that may reside with the cultivator's conscious or subconscious mind.

Sect - Cultivation organization typically occupying an area of land that's rich in spiritual qi. There is a sect leader, ancestors, elders, seniors, etc. They normally recruit from cultivation clans and families, as well as from roaming individual cultivators. Smaller sects with less to choose from may look for mortals with spirit roots. Cultivators who have joined a sect are called disciples.

Inner/Outer Sect - Outer sect disciples are those who are less talented and have lower cultivation. Inner sect disciples have higher talent and higher cultivation. The resources are distributed unevenly, with the best going to the inner sect, and the leftovers to the outer sect. Inner sect disciples also may have a personal master. Outer sect disciples are left to fend for themselves and occasionally go to group lectures.

What defines a person? Is it their soul, body, or memories? Is it the choices they make along their journey in life? Or does fate decide?

"Only one thing was certain, her name was Jiang Xiulan. 

Or, was it?

Maybe it was Liu Lan?"

"For Liu Lan, who provided her with a body, she would avenge her death. For Jiang Xiulan, who provided her with a soul, she would regain her lost memories. For herself, who was both women and neither, she would live as Jiang Lan and cultivate to gain the strength necessary to fulfill her goals."

As she collects the pieces of her past, will she decide to leave her past behind or embark on a bloody road of no return? The path to ascension is long and the wheel of fate continues to turn with the reaping and sowing of karma.

In this magic world, knowledge is power.

Liutem kept a dignified expression plastered on his face. Lips emotionless, eyebrows slanted inward. 

He approached the fallen monstrosity, slowly, carefully. This was his first real mission; he couldn't mess it up. Malmorte had dragged him out of training and put him with the few men who were now beside him. The intention behind this impromptu change of plans was, according to the man, the importance of battle experience. If one wasn't able to fight properly, no matter how well they trained, what was the point?

All he knew from the briefing he was given was that tremors and flying trees had been detected south of the village, about twenty kilometers away. These phenomena were rapidly headed eastward during the time it took Liutem and his teammates to put on their battle gear. As light - and lightning, in Liutem's case - magic practitioners, they only needed a minute to get here when they were ready. 

These two elements were not to be underestimated.

The cause of these happenings, as they just learned, turned out to be a giant, greyish humanoid. It wasn't moving now, but it was likely just unconscious. No matter how hard Liutem had hit it, this was a monster; how badly would it be hurt?

He heard some light rustling about twenty meters further. Looking carefully with an eye-enhancing magical art into the bushes and grass, he saw a familiar face.

His dignified face melted into a typical shocked expression, as he fell to his knees. When he looked again, that face was gone. 

"What is it, boy?" one of the men beside him asked. "This monster's size surprise you?"

Liutem turned to see the kindly face of this man. It helped him relax. He convinced himself that Foxe wasn't hiding there in the bushes. No, it couldn't be. This area was nearly thirty kilometers south of the Parvak village, he estimated. 

He nodded tensely in response and got up. His mate said something regarding the fallen monster. "There seem to have been several of these things popping up over the years. I don't know much for sure, but I did pay close attention to whatever the higher-ups revealed to us. This thing's kind seem to roam in the southern area of the island forest. 

"It may be related to the Parvarbor. They've been silent for years now. Not a single peep. We sent spies, but they all didn't make it back. I'm confident those plant lovers are hiding something. Not sure what, though."

Liutem's pupils constricted in fear. To think there was more than one of this monster. He looked at the path it took to get here. Giant footprints, so heavy they sunk nearly ten centimeters into the ground. Tree stumps crushed, and the trunks they had been holding previously were scattered on and around the area.

Medivenum awakened a few hours later. His head was thumping; almost as if his brain was about to burst out of his skull.

"Ugh.." he groaned. His eyes felt terrible, like they were burning. His wrist was tingling, like there was electricity running through it. 

He stumbled up and steadied himself, then tried to walk around.

Thud, thud. His heavy feet crashed lethargically into the dirt. He looked around at the forest. Nothing but trees everywhere. Some of his footprints from earlier were also there.

'That's right, I was chasing that guy..' he thought to himself. He tried to recall what happened afterward; why he couldn't catch him. But, he couldn't, even after a few minutes. He gave up and traced his steps back to his lair. 

When he got there, he looked down at the ground. He saw the purple leaf that that man had dropped before his escape. 'My self-made drug,' he thought as he recalled his past.

Long ago, Medivenum was the lead researcher and a senior elder in the Parvarbor Tribe. His status was similar to the haggled old lady in the Modilume, and the Parvak's Petramsen. One day, an errand boy delivered a never-before-seen plant to him, with a request from another senior elder to research it and see what he could make of it.

The plant was a tiny tree, perhaps the length of an average man's femur, with many purple leaves and a purple fruit at the very top.

After several years of examination, experimentation, planting, and development, he understood thoroughly what this plant was. 

It was no ordinary plant, that was for sure.

What he found out, was that this plant could facilitate mind control. Whoever ate the fruit was the 'controller', while those who consumed the leaves were controlled by the fruit's owner.

After some testing on the fox and rabbits that he raised for food, and observing them for weeks, Medivenum realized it was okay to eat the fruits for himself, too. He fed the fox a fruit while the rabbits got the leaves. As it turned out, the fox only wanted to play with the rabbits, not eat them as he thought it would immediately do. 

Having confirmed the safety of this plant, he had a good meal. Needless to say, it consisted of all the remaining fruits from the offspring of the original plant. He also had some fox meat to go with them. The fox was mostly intact, and he'd only taken enough for one meal, so he decided to give it to the errand boy, who had been very helpful throughout all this time. The boy cooked the fox himself and took it to his room in a secluded corner of Medivenum's house. 

The next day, he woke up to the sound of chewing. It wasn't human chewing, but the wild chewing of an animal, that was quick and rough.

He followed the source of the sound. It was coming from the errand boy's room, the door of which was left slightly open.

Medivenum slowly pushed it open and came upon a devastating sight.

The boy was lying there, on the ground. His ribs were exposed. Most of his flesh was gone. His bloodied face clearly had an expression full of horror and fear.

Then Medivenum noticed the rabbits.

No, these were no longer rabbits, but little gargoyles. They were in a far corner of the room, as if hiding from him. In their mouths were pieces of flesh, organs, and dripping blood.

Medivenum cowered. This was too much for him to handle. He waited for the rabbits to take him.

One, two minutes. He wasn't dead, nor was he being ripped apart by those monsters' teeth. 

He looked up to see them all prostrating to him. After a moment of confusion, he understood. He was their leader now, after the fox died, thanks to the mysterious effects of the purple fruit.

Oh, and the fox was also eaten by them, even more thoroughly than the boy.

Medivenum decided to turn to the dark side. He realized it would be very hard to defend his innocence. No matter what excuse he gave, even if he said the truth, such a hideous incident would be difficult to explain.

He collected all the purple leaves and cooked up some meals with them before distributing them to the other elders at a meeting. He also consumed all the remaining fruits, and planted the rest for future use.

One by one, he watched as all the elders collapsed in pain, as their eyes turned from human to.. not human.

They grew in size over a period of one or two weeks, turning into behemoths above two and a half meters tall. Their growth stopped at that point. Then, they started turning greyish.

As for Medivenum, this too was happening to him, but at a slower rate.

The villagers outside were all worried, as none of the elders had appeared for two weeks.

Then, chaos descended as the elders, now transformed into giant, mindless puppets controlled by Medivenum, killed every single human in the vicinity. The man himself kept hidden, and ordered his minions to gather food and keep an eye on the other villages. 

Every so often, he would check his growth in a mirror. Week by week, month by month, he grew continuously. He had already grown taller than his puppets. His skin was also turning to tough rock, and cracks surfaced on it. His eyes turned slightly reddish.

After a year, these developments stopped. He consumed many more fruits to accelerate them once more. Indeed, they helped. He planted many more mind-control plants.

Now, the village was more of a sea of purple than a congregation of huts.

Then, Medivenum thought to grind the purple leaves and scatter them in the soil of the forest. The trees would absorb the powder and be under his control as well. He wondered what effect this would have on them.

There wasn't any physical change, but the trees could now move and extend their branches.

He then fed these leaves to some animals that wandered in what was now his territory; an expanse of greenery covering quite a sizable portion of the Sulayn. A Diurnal Sloth was amongst these animals, indeed.

He also captured any human spies that came by, especially the Modilume and Minuhume's men, and fed them the mind-control.. drug. It wasn't an ordinary leaf by his definitions, but its effects could be likened to some 'drugs of legend' detailed in the books.

Eventually, he got bored and ventured out, making sure to feed piquant purple powder to the trees and animals wherever he crossed.

Medivenum's power only grew day by day.

Medivenum sighed. He had sure come a long way since then. He lied down, and thought about his next plans.

In Earth's future, a shut-in researcher discovers the existence of magic. With it, he eradicates all life on the planet, only to be met with his own end.

Much time passes and this man wakes up to a new world.

A world of magic.

Furthermore, shockingly, after all of the information was done being dumped into his head, even though it was just in the form of emotions and sentiments, he could still clearly discern what it was and what it was elaborating on exactly!
'This… this is everything about the 『Origin Passage Creation Art』! Now… although I can't put it into definite words just like how we can't do the same with our emotions sometimes… I swear I clearly comprehend what this Art is about and how or what I need to do precisely in order to utilize it… it's just like an intuition!' As his non-existent eyes were shining in clear brilliance of excitement and eagerness, a new batch of emotions was loaded into his head next.

However, this time, although he roughly comprehended the meaning behind the emotions, he wasn't one hundred percent certain regarding the details. And he felt like he needed to unravel its accurate meaning this time as it didn't come to him naturally.
He also grasped one transparent distinction between the previous batch of emotions and the new one. While the former was a type of instruction and enlightenment, the latter was a type of description that was trying to transmit specific words in the form of emotions.
Or more plainly, while the first one felt more like processed experiences and memories, the second one was more like raw emotions which you needed to understand by yourself.
That's why, Virus had this odd feeling that unlike the former chain of emotions which he could clearly follow, he needed to decipher and contemplate deeply on the second one in order to apprehend it precisely.
'Hmm… I don't fully get the specifics… what should I do…' As this line of pondering appeared within his head, immediately, he thought of a possible solution.
'What if I translate these abstract emotions into concrete words?' As this possible answer revealed itself to him, a very complicated algorithm started to take shape within his mind.
This was happening because his plausible resolution was the production and creation of an extremely complex algorithm that would be capable of translating, converting, and deciphering 'Origin' sensations and emotions into concrete terms.
This process included him, first, considering every feeling that was directly transmitted into his head by 'Origin' plus every external feeling that Virus had experienced up to this point. And second, it comprised of the procedure of comparing them with concrete words and finding the best definitions or words for each of them. In short, he was creating the perfect [Emotion to English Translator] algorithm.

As the production of the Algorithm was perfected in a certain sense, Virus pondered, 'Hmm, first, let's see what the former emotions which gave the accurate instructions, enlightenment, and experiences of the 『Origin Passage Creation Art』 are about.'
Immediately, he put them through the algorithm as he waited for the translation to appear before him.
Unfortunately, the result disappointed him greatly.
『Error!!! %^#$ Error! @%$ $^#$% #@$ Error! @% %^$#! Error!!!』
'Hmm… something's stopping me from translating it into words. Right, 'Origin'! But… why won't it let me translate it?' Confused, putting on an imaginary frown, he wondered to himself.
He also deliberated further, 'Although I knew the full translation of the knowledge of 『Origin Passage Creation Art』 would be out of the questions since it consists of complicated experiences and enlightenments which can be never put into raw and one-dimensional words alone, I assumed, my algorithm at least would be capable of translating a few words of the said Art… but even that was prevented by 'Origin'! Damn it!'
'Sigh… whatever, let's try the second one.' Wanting to see if it also prevented the second rush of emotions from being translated, he put them through the algorithm.
『Translation Successful!』
'Oh!' Luckily, however, it worked this time, meaning that the 'Origin' wasn't against the translation this time around.
And also, since it was devoid of any experiences and enlightenments, Virus was confident the translation would be almost perfect.
'Let's take a look at it then.' As this reflection showed up within his head, words and sentences revealed themselves.
『Requirements necessary for activating the [Origin Passage Creation Art]:』
〈1. Fully Annihilated Energy Pathways/Erased Energy Pathways from The Roots.〉
〈2. Absolute Comprehension of [Origin Passage Creation Art].〉
〈3. Temporary Transfer of Consciousness Into 'Origin'. 〉
〈4. Mysterious Blood of Undisclosed Origins.〉
Without any further ado, gazing upon the words hovering in his line of sight, Virus began to wonder as a shimmer of understanding was flickering throughout his caged consciousness.
As his attention was focused on the first requirement, which was 〈1. Fully Annihilated Energy Pathways/Erased Energy Pathways from The Roots.〉, he delineated in an extremely passionate manner, 'Oh… I see… so that's why 'Origin' erased my Energy Pathways! Well, it totally makes sense, to be honest! Since every single body can contain only one set of Energy Pathways and having two sets of Energy Pathways is like saying two parallel lines will eventually meet… simply impossible and against logic or common sense.'
'Anyway… it all happened due to it being a crucial requirement of creating a new set of Energy Pathways… Sweet!' Smiling from ear to ear, Virus exclaimed happily. He was very jovial because this simple fact alone meant that 'Origin' also wasn't harboring any hostile intentions against him from the very start.
It wasn't trying to trap him. It wasn't attempting to replace and steal his consciousness or physical body. And neither was it trying to imprison him. Overall, at least for now, it had no intention of harming him in any way and that was extremely good news for Virus.
'The second requirement, 〈2. Absolute Comprehension of [Origin Passage Creation Art].〉. Hmm… I think the only way for its full comprehension was through the emotional transference of Art's knowledge… otherwise, I don't believe even ten thousand years would've been enough for a normal cultivator to grasp everything that needs to be enlightened about.'

Sitting at her desk, Erina was watching in anticipation as Rinte was quickly changing the video that was playing on the central screen in the room.
Finishing her set up, Rinte began her lecture, "The next topic we are going to cover today are the Types of Magic. So let's begin by defining the Magic types okay?"
Receiving a handout from Rinte, Erina replied, "En, sounds good!"
Moving back to the center of the room Rinte pointed at one of the diagrams and stated, "As you can see here, there are two main types of magic, offensive, and enchantment. In offensive magic, the spells are mostly projectile, and serve the purpose of attacking the other party directly."
Shifting to the side slightly, Rinte pointed at another diagram, elaborating, "Over here you can see an example of enchantment magic. In enchantment magic, the spells are mostly internal, or applied directly to the target. These spells mostly will improve the performance of said target, or in many cases, the user's body."
Writing down these definitions, Erina asked, "Well, you said that these were the two 'main' types of magic, so does that mean there are others?"
Smiling, Rinte responded, "Yes! In fact there are many other types of magic, such as auxiliary magic, defense magic, and seal magic to name a few."
Switching slides on a presentation, Rinte pointed out, "However, you will only be tested on the two main types of magic when you take the Magic test at 12 years old. This is because the other types are either considered sub branches of the two main types, or just techniques passed within a few families."
Filling out some more of the worksheet, Erina asked, "During the test, how do they even measure all those things?"
Bringing up a different picture, Rinte answered, "I'm glad you asked Erina! During the test, there actually isn't much that goes on, you just put your hand on a machine that draws out your magic and scans it to find out information like that. If you're wondering about why 12 though, it's because by then even the latest of bloomers will have their magic stable enough to scan."
Nodding in understanding from what Rinte just said, Erina was then stunned when Rinte added, "For you though Erina it isn't that simple. That's because if you are part of the 17 pillar families, the Magic test is actually a very large event. On August 1st every year, it's a tradition for all of the 17 pillar families along with the royal family to get together and do all of their tests together. It is also usually broadcasted, allowing anyone in the country to tune in and watch. Additionally, it's actually one of the most viewed broadcasts that air all year."
Slack-jawed, Erina asked, "If it's so famous, and it's a tradition, why haven't I gone to it then?"
Expecting Erina to ask that question, Rinte replied, "Well actually your family has gone every year, however, either Garret or Miyuki have stayed at home every single time. They do this because they want to keep you out of the public eye, as well as off the radar from some of the other more unscrupulous families."
Drinking some water, Rinte continued, "Furthermore, many people don't know this, but before broadcasted test portion, there is a massive banquet which allow many of the children from the families to meet each other, or in other cases 'scout out' each other. In two years though you will be attending the event, because Suzuki will be tested that year, so all family members are required to attend."
Having accepted the fact that she'll be going to this event once she grows up, Erina told Rinte that she was ready to move on to the next part of the lesson.
Moving on, Rinte quickly steeled her attitude, and continued, "So the next part that we are going to talk about are the Magic affinities. Magic affinities are what types of elemental magic you can use when casting offensive spells, or spells that output something. There are a lot of different elements and each one is suited for different overall types of spells, so many mages will build their battle styles around their affinities in conjunction with their specialization."
Changing the screen to a large diagram, Rinte began explaining the diagram, "So here we have a tree of all the different affinities that you can have. As you can see there are 2 tiers of elements, which are named, the base tier, and the complex tier. In the base tier we have four elements, Fire, Air, Earth, and Water. When you take the Magic measurement test, you will get a grade of D-to S+ tier, and if you have a C- or above you are automatically enrolled into one of the 9 magic academy cities. They only take people with C- or better because everyone has a little magic, but below C- there isn't much magic they can do, no matter how hard they train."
Filling out the layer bottom of the pyramid, Erina nodded, showing that she was ready to move on.
Seeing that Erina was ready, Rinte continued, "And here in this upper tier we have another four elements, they are Magma, Lightning, Metal, and Ice. During the Magic test, if you are found to have any affinity that is A- or higher, you will also have to take another test to determine the grade of your complex element. If you are wondering how they relate to each other, it's because each of the complex elements are just a higher level version per-say of the base elements, Fire to Magma, Air to Lightning, Earth to Metal, and Water to Ice."
Giving some time to Erina to fill out the top layer of the pyramid, Rinte elaborated, "During the Magic Measurement test, if you have a complex elements, it will be measured on a scale from from 1 to 5, with 1 being the lowest and 5 being the highest."
Pausing for a second, Rinte the warned, "Also I have two things that I want to warn you about, and I want you to remember them for the rest of your life okay?"
Surprised at the serious air that Rinte had around her, Erina quickly nodded in affirmation.
Pausing all of the background videos that were playing, Rinte explained, "So the first thing I want you to keep in mind is the more someone is attuned with one element, the more specialized they are, meaning if someone has a really good Lightning affinity, their other affinities aren't going to nearly as good. Secondly, the more in tune you are with an element, the more instinctual control you will have of it. This doesn't come up much, however, once someone has an affinity that is at least B+ level, they will be able to control their respective element to a degree more than a party trick so watch out for that."
[AN: Kinda think of it like being able to you know, bend an element like Zuko bending fire. Just without having to do the martial arts, but they can if they want, to help focus their 'bending'.
P.S. I haven't actually seen Avatar: The Last Airbender, so this analogy is just based on some videos I saw online]
Realizing that this was actually really important information, Erina hastily pulled out her notebook before jotting it down. 
Letting Erina write it down, Rinte followed it up, "Furthermore, anyone who has a complex element will have 1. A very good control of their base element, and 2. At least a basic amount of control of their complex element, getting more and more control the higher the affinity."
Looking at the clock, Rinte realized that they had gone slightly over the allotted time for Magic theory, "It seems that will be all for magic theory today, so now we will be moving onto our next topic, Arithmetic."
[AN: The next chapter will not be on arithmetic, I'll be moving on with the story I think~ unless you want an arithmetic chapter...? If you really want one just comment, but I probably won't write one... maybe as a random bonus somewhere...]

Art healed a few of the Aurors who were injured. They thanked him and Art stared at Joel who was still taking care of Rachel. 

"What?" Joel finally asked in annoyance. 

"You going to let me heal your arm? You might be able to take better care of her." Art gave him a mocking smile and pointed at his limp arm. 

Joel cheeks turned a little red but he came over to Art and let him see his arm. Rolling up his sleeve Art whistle as he saw his arm was swollen and purple. 

"Broken by the looks of it. Give me a moment." Art said casting a spell. A loud pop was heard and Joel gave a grunt of pain. 

"The swelling should go down in a day or two." Art said. 

Joel thanked him and left quickly back to Rachel. Art chuckled and looked at Justin who was laughing into his hand as he glanced at Joel. He secretly gave him a thumbs causing Joel to blush slightly. 

The Aurors were busy organizing all the stuff they found at the lair. The students were tight lipped about what they saw but didn't tell Art anything. 

"Must have been bad." Art said to Joel and Boomer. 

The two of them nodded their heads gravely. 

"I understand now Art, why you care about beasts so much. Nobody deserves that fate." Justin said darkly. 

Boomer didn't say anything but nodded his head in agreement, horror in his eyes. 

Art's eyes hardened as he clenched his fist, "I knew I let that bastard die too quickly." 

"You did. Death was too easy for him." Justin said darkly. 

Art took a deep breath and let it out, "Next time we capture them alive." he paused and shrugged his shoulders. "Or torture him a little before killing him." 

The other two didn't give him a response and simply stared off.

The Aurors soon left for MACUSA to report their findings while Newt and the students left for Ilvermorny. The five student's spirits seemed to be down as they didn't speak much with each other. 

"You all have experienced an actual fight. Don't forget it, learn from it. The world is a dangerous place." Newt said to them. They all had serious expressions and nodded their heads. 

Newt gave them a smile, "You did well, be proud of yourselves." 

They gave a glance to Art, without him and Azura, they would most likely be dead. 

"You now know how different school is then real life experience." Art said slowly, turning to face them. "I can say, as a peer, that you all did well. Joel, willing to protect someone with your life is very commendable." Art said, giving Joel a smile. 

Justin nudged him in the side and laughed. Rachel also turned a little red as she grabbed his arm gently. 

"I hope you all take something away from this. Dueling friends is different than fighting for your life." 

"Don't be so serious Art! We made it bad, mostly intact as well!" Justin said, punching his arm. 

Art laughed and nodded at Newt who smiled at him. 

Soon the gates of the school appeared in front of them and the large statues of Isolt and James were standing in the bright sunlight. Art gave a small bow to bow statues before walking through the gates. 

"Boy." an old voice called out from behind him. 

Art turned around and saw an ancient Pukwudgie standing there with a broom. His face was covered in wrinkles and had white hair. Wisdom sparkled in his brown eyes as he looked at Art with curiosity. 

Art noticed the others had looks of respect towards the old Pukwudgie. 

"Can I help you sir?" Art asked him politely. 

He waved at the students who nodded and walked into the castle, leaving them alone. 

Art was slightly confused but didn't say anything and watched the old Pukwudgie. 

He slowly walked over to Isolt's statue and placed a hand on the granite. Art swore he could see a tear fall out of his eye but it disappeared too quickly to tell. 

"Whenever you cross the threshold of the gates, you bow to them. Can I ask why?" he asked. 

Art walked out and looked at the statues for a second before answering. "They represent what witches and wizards should aspire to. And they did this hundreds of years ago." 

"Aspire to, in which way?" 

"They couldn't have started any lower and yet they created… this. "he said with a smile and looked around. "Muggle, Wizard, they are just definitions that are meaningless. Look what happens when wizards and muggles work together." 

The old Pukwudgie laughed lightly and looked up at Isolt. 

"She escaped such an unhappy childhood… gives the rest of us hope." Art chuckled to himself. He shook his head and looked at the Pukwudgie, "Sorry, I'm Artland Cason."

"I know who you are Artland, my name is William." he said with a smile. 

"William, pleasure." Art said. 

William nodded and started to sweep around the statue. 

Art didn't disturb him and took out his wand, producing a bouquet of flowers before placing it at the base of Isolt's statue. He then walked into the school and caught up with the students. 

A small smile was on William's face, "What an interesting boy, right Isolt?"

Joining up with the others, Art found them talking to Headmaster Fontaine. 

"Art! I was just hearing about your incredible exploits!" Fontaine said with a loud laugh. 

He looked proud of his students, clearly the Aurors told him beforehand of what happened. 

"It was a good learning experience." Art said humbly. 

Headmaster Fontaine had a large smile on his face as he opened the main doors into the hall. An eruption of cheering and applause came from the room as the students walked out. Art and the others were stunned as they saw the entire school was there.

"MACUSA told us that you solved the Hidebehind problem. The students wanted to show their gratitude." Fontaine told them with a smile. 

Justin and Boomer put on heroic faces and waved, causing Art to laugh. Rachel slowly grabbed Joel's hand, causing both of them to turn a deep red. 

Art looked up at the balcony and saw Shelby, Natasha and Alby smiling at him. Alby was waving like an idiot causing Art to laugh and wave back at him. 

"Students of Ilvermorny! Welcome back our heroes!" Fontaine said with a booming voice. 

Art rolled his eyes, thinking the Headmaster was putting it on thick. They didn't go to war or anything. 

But the students cheered louder, almost deafening. 

The day was a celebration with feasts and parties. A few older students were able to sneak in alcohol causing many students to go overboard and end up passed out all over campus. 

Art sat on a couch by himself sipping a Butterbeer. Shelby walked over to him and clicked his bottle, "Drink up, you're a hero." she said with a bright smile, her dark skin flawless. 

"Bit of an exeragation." Art scoffed. 

"Killing Dark Wizards is always held in high esteem, is it different in Europe?" she asked confused. 

Artland immediately thought of Voldemort and slowly answered, "Depends on who I guess. But a no name? No, we wouldn't call ourselves heroes." 

"Either way, you did a good thing." she said, leaning back, showing off her impressive curves. 

Art rolled his eyes at her causing her to glare at him. 

"Nothing? At all?" she eyed him carefully, "You're not gay right?" 

Art ignored her jab and said, "Your dad is an interesting man." 

She scoffed and waved it off, "He is a dork. Always fighting with other Aurors and MACUSA. If it wasn't for my mother he would have been fired years ago." 

"He speaks his mind and doesn't care about what people think. The world needs more people like him." Art looked at her, "You get that from him." 

Shelby laughed and finished her drink, her cheeks slightly rosier, "Maybe. He is a great husband and father though." 

She paused and leaned close to Art and whispered in his ear, "I am extremely jealous of your girlfriend you know." 

"I think you should go to bed." Art chuckled quietly, he saw many angry looks directed at him, "Before the male population tries to kill me." 

Shelby turned around and laughed, "Well the girls don't look too happy with me either."

Artland Cason lost everything at a young age to the Dark Lord and his Death Eaters. Though it is years later his anger and hatred burn just as hot.

Sera was still on cloud nine from her awesome powers and didn't notice the malice on Lucien's face or the contempt on Jacks.

A few days later Sera was reading a book on practical witchcraft. It was a boring book on technical terms and definitions. Not very exciting, but it did have a few good things that she filed away in her mind. The knowledge that she was acquiring was overflowing in her mind and it was giving her headaches. She was currently suffering a horrendous headache when a cup of tea appeared before her and there was a note attached. The note  was short, but the penmanship was impeccable.  It read: "please drink this herbal remedy to aid your headache. Sincerely, Jack." After reading this, she smiled a warm smile and then took a sip of tea. It was fragrant, bold, and crisp with a flowery finish. It was refreshing and almost instantly banished the headache. Feeling the relief Sera sighed and smiled yet again.

'I should go and thank Jack and see if he can teach me about this brew. It's different from the hangover coffee.' She thought. As she was getting up her phone buzzed indicating a call. 'Bzzz. Bzzz. Bzzz.'
"Hello" Sera answered. "Sera! I haven't seen you in forever come have coffee with us." Izzy coaxed. It had been a bit of time since the party and she hadn't set aside time for her friends. Making up the excuse that she had classes at a special school for arts. Which wasn't exactly an excuse, but what she was studying wasn't art per se. Technically it is a craft of sorts, but a craft of magic and not actual art. "Okay, I'll meet you guys at 2 p.m. today." Sera laughed. Izzy then squealed and hung up making it a short, but sweet call.  She then proceeded to get ready and leave promptly.

Sometime later it was 2 p.m. and Sera and her friends were seated at a table in a coffee shop within the mall. "Oh man this feels great" Sera stretched and looked very relaxed. "So happy that you could join us finally." Hannah said flatly with a blank look on her face. 'Why is she so sour? Did I forget her birthday?' Sera frantically thought. Seeing the panic in Sera's eyes Hannah quickly responded, "I'm just sleepy and sort of grouchy. I'm sorry if I'm coming off annoyed or angry." She seemed to be telling the truth so Sera calmed down and decided to help her friend. She remembered a simple spell to aid in tiredness and deceptively cast toward Hannah. Sera smiled a happy and warm smile at Hannah, masking the spell being cast. By the time their coffee arrived Hannah was acting more normal and even had a slight smile on her face. 

Hannah had no clue about Sera's abilities, but she felt like her presence helped her overall mood. "I'm feeling ten times better, I need to hang out with you more often." Hannah beamed and she hugged onto Seraphina like a lost little girl. She seemed like an innocent little girl at the moment and Sera couldn't help but giggle and her friends childlike behavior. Isabella could sense she was being left out of something so she quickly leapt into action and grabbed Sera's other arm. She too was acting like a small child who was jealous of a friend making other friends. It was almost as if the past few weeks hadn't happened and it was an invigorating feeling. 

Knowing that she had friends like the girls made her feel warm and fuzzy. Spending time with them made her realize how genuine people outside of her parents circle could be. She realized that she had something special with these two. Living dual lives was hard, but having friends that could melt away the distance in mere seconds, made it worth the duality. 'How would her friends react to the truth? Could she even tell them the truth? Would they ditch her once the truth was known?' These are the questions that were circling in Sera's mind during this small interaction. Who knew what was to come? The main question was, would they stay loyal once loyalties dissolve?

Seraphina is a girl that thinks she knows her family, but she is in for a rude awakening. One day she meets an attractive stranger, but that's where her life gets turned upside down. She learns things about herself and the people around her during her journey to becoming a stronger person.

This section will discuss Chaotic gods, Aspects, Immortals, Faith gods, and Force Ghosts.

Chaotic gods take advantage of completely unDefined Possibility to jump from ordinary to whatever they want to be. Most of their disadvantage lies within the difficulty of avoiding dissolution into the Void. They remain linked to Possibility, and have an enormously strong Will that must not falter, for even after being Ascended they must constantly make firm their Form so as to avoid dissolution. On the other hand, this link allows them to shape the Forms/Definitions of Reality however they wish, as long as they succeed. Most practice qi cultivation so as to strengthen their Form. As they grow in skill and Will power, they normally become nigh invincible even against other Ascended.

Immortals are the term for Ascended qi cultivators. An Immortal is an individual who's Definition has been altered and enhanced to point that the world can no longer support them and the individual's Will is what Defines them. This transference does not come without cost, as the Will one is claiming his existence from will try to reclaim the cultivator at certain thresholds.

Immortals all have a Dao, a code and goal they function by and aim for, for aimless undefined cultivation does not allow for Ascension. Unfortunately, because of the length of time required to cultivate, even slight aberrations in the technique to strengthen oneself will get exaggerated. This will usually lead to mental illness, causing once happy contributing members of society to become overly concerned with small perceived slights to their, to shut themselves away from normal interaction, and some even become predators that will do whatever they desire to others.

In summary, the advantages of qi cultivation are many. Additional strength, magic techniques done by exerting one's qi and Will, natural superpowers, and immortality are just a few. The disadvantages are mostly the mental illnesses that come from cultivation deviation (Heart Tribulation), though many cultivators also complain about the Heavenly Tribulations they go through, which are merely knee jerk reactions of the world trying to remove something that became foreign to it, like a child picking at an itchy scab. Immortals also do not have a limit to their growth, and some are even powerful enough to harm Chaotic gods, depending on their respective power sets. Before we move on, though, the biggest disadvantage is that the qi Path of Ascension can be the longest of all the Paths, depending on available energy and the world Laws in place.

Aspect is the term for those who have Ascended with the mana Path of Ascension. It involves taking mana into oneself, warping the cultivator's Definition until the world's former Definition is changed enough for the cultivator to grasp it and make it his own. There are two kinds of Aspects, Bound and Unbound. Bound Aspects rely on the mana element or elements existing Definition to reDefine themselves. This Ascension has a high chance of succeeding, but will bind the Aspect to the world. Unbound Aspects rely on their own Definition of their chosen Element(s) to Ascend, but normally fail. Not only do they have to reDefine themselves, but also all their accumulated energy. The difference can be looked at like this: Unbound Aspects force the energy of an Element to become their own version, while Bound Aspects change themselves to fit the world's Concept.

Just speaking in terms of advantages between the two types, Bound Aspects are invincible when to comes to their chosen domain and frequently succeed in their Ascension, while Unbound Aspects rely on a personal power pool that they have to replenish and normally fail. Unbound Aspects can world hop if they can figure out how and can cultivate additional Elements, though with some risk, while Bound Aspects are wound tight with their world, bound by their Definition. They can attempt to cultivate additional Elements, but usually fail because of the last issue we'll discuss with being a Bound Aspect. While Unbound Aspects can make their Elements fit them, Bound Aspects fit their Elements, which warps their mindset. A Bound Aspect of Fire can't perceive the Element of Earth without much effort, much less handle it to cultivate, unless there is some world Law that homogenizes the source of the different Elements.

In regards to advantages against other Ascenders, Aspects usually have the advantage with their chosen Concept, but are useless in regards to other matters. Their Ascension can be the easiest if Bound or harder than qi Ascension if Unbound.

Faith gods is the term being used to describe those who Ascend using the Faith Path of Ascension. They cultivate like mana cultivators by absorbing power that has been offered to them. The cultivator then uses the Concept attached to the offered power to alter himself until he can Define himself.

The biggest advantage of Faith cultivation is that it is one of the easiest Ascensions due to being supported by the Wills of the Ascender's cult. They also can have powers added on, depending on how they develop their religion. There are two main disadvantages, one being that the Faith cultivator can be Defined for the worse by his priesthood, and the other that they are reliant on their worshippers' offerings and prayers for Faith power. They are bound to whatever people acknowledge them as a god for good or ill.

In comparison to other Ascenders, Faith gods range from as invincible as a Chaotic god to running out of power even more quickly than an Unbound Aspect. They need to keep their religion going to keep their power, so most who desire to kill a Faith god will first wipe out their worshippers.

Force Ghost is the term being used for those who Ascend by cultivating their connection to the Force. This kind of Ascension is different than the others, for a Force Ghost does not become an entity that is separate from his world, but one that joins with his world's Will. Additionally, no energy absorption is required. The Force cultivator merely becomes one with world to the point that he actually becomes part of the Force. He is technically a god because he supports his own existence, but he is not separate from the Will that sustained him before. That being said, the state of mind needed to achieve Ascension is difficult to reach. There are few Jedi in the star Wars universe that managed to Ascend, and only one known Sith.

There are two disadvantages to this Path of Ascension. The first is that a Force Ghost is bound to his chosen world forever, becoming part of what Defines Reality from Chaos. The second is that a Force Ghost has very limited immediate power, mostly consisting of minor nudges and messages. Their forte is manipulating everything that happens into their desired outcome. This is because of two reasons. One is that a Force Ghost's omniscience makes them see every future path, and their direct interference will almost always end in an outcome they will not like for them or for the world which they are part of. The second is that destroying or altering that which they Define is anathema to their state of resonance.

There are also many advantages to becoming a Force Ghost. Force Ghosts can predict the future, because they are omniscient about their world. They play with events like a game of chess, manipulating every piece into the desired place. If there is an existential threat to the world from outside it, Force Ghosts usually are able to go all out. They are unbeatable. Future prediction on top of manipulating Reality itself makes for an invincible combination.

Before we wrap up this discussion, there is one more thing I wish to make clear. The Paths of Ascension are not exclusive. An Ascender can and will usually cultivate multiple Paths. Qi cultivators like to mana cultivate, trying to perceive and absorb Concepts like the sword or cutting. Force cultivators will do qi cultivation on the side, since they can absorb and convert energy incredibly efficiently once they are resonating with the world. Level up systems usually use a combination of mana, qi, and possibly Faith cultivation.

There are also magics that have entirely different meanings based on what Path one cultivates. Death mana magic can be acceptable if its in a world where necromancy is tolerated, while death magic for a Faith cultivator is evil and will corrupt the Definition of one who practices it.

One more thing. One might ask what the advantages to being a god over the power increase is. After all, Ascension is dangerous, and non gods can kill gods given the right circumstances.

Just based off the definition of godhood being that one's Will is what sustains one's existence, there is one obvious advantage - the world's Laws hold less sway over a god; how much less is determined by god type. Obviously, Laws can't not affect a god who's interacting with a world, as that would mean the god isn't actually there. This can also be a disadvantage, since the god will be recognized as foreign and may be expelled from the world if he doesn't pay an appropriate price to adjust his internal Laws to somewhat match the world he's in. This is why gods usually act through intermediaries; never mind having to temporarily adjust their internal Laws to affect the world, some are unable to even adjust themselves!

Additionally, since a god is a miniature reality in of himself, creating a domain that is an extension of himself is not difficult. He can use this to store objects or people in. 

Finally, keep in mind that Ascension is just the first step in becoming a power player in the multiverse.

This my first rough draft.

This grade-9 sorcerer of Cloudflow was stronger than expected. A grade-9 singular attack combined with a restorative spell could probably deal the most complicated damage among spells below grade-9. Light explosion of darkness was especially lethal towards death mages.
Most sorcerers were able to interchange between elements even if they did not possess similar skill sets to Saleen. To be able to change dark elements into light elements required incredible skill, powerful mental strength, and an impressive control of elements.
Death mages were very sensitive towards elements, even without magic chords. Dark elements, in particular, were what death creatures were most fond of. When the dark elements congregated together, they had already developed an affinity of elements with the death creatures. This was also why the subsequent light explosion was especially deadly.
It was like a piece of metal that had hardened after being put through a very low temperature, it would explode from within if it was suddenly exposed to a very high temperature.
The areas of the mechanical soul's body that had been hit by the light explosion of darkness were all falling to pieces. A thickness of at least an inch of metal and bones were rotten and the mechanical soul screamed in pain. He was cursing at the winged skeleton while shouting, "Damned human! Even so, now they have already…"
Suddenly, there was a sound made by elements in the cave. Two crystallizations of dark elements formed and collapsed from within.
"Soldier! Give me more spirits!" the mechanical soul changed his tone immediately. The human was attacking non-stop. There was a limit to his immortality. If light explosion of darkness persisted, he would be killed sooner or later. Without the ability to resist, the human would be able to seal him up and torture him or turn him into some sort of equipment.
The winged skeleton hid himself within the mechanical soul's body. The first wave of light explosion of darkness did not hit him but as a grade-8 spirit of the dead, he could sense the power of the attack. At that point in time, he would agree to any of the mechanical soul's requests. It was not possible to summon spirits then, so he could only feed the mechanical soul with those that he had carried along with him.
It was a painful decision to make as the spirits that he had brought along with him were quite powerful. Fortunately, all the spirits that possessed intelligence were at bone castle. If he was forced to feed the mechanical soul with those spirits, the winged skeleton would vomit blood even if he was just a pile of bones.
The four dark elements were completely congregated together and they collapsed from within. The third wave of attack had begun. There was nowhere for mechanical soul to escape to in the space. Defense spells were not his strength as he usually did not have to care too much about normal attacks. Light explosion of darkness had decomposed away the ancient metal mechanic parts on his body, leaving holes everywhere.
While hiding in the mechanical soul's body, the winged skeleton kept trying to use death spells to fill up the holes while feeding the mechanical soul with his spirits at the same time.
The mechanical soul was repairing himself and trying to open up a hole in the rocks to escape simultaneously. Now, he was afraid even without the winged skeleton threatening him. The human's attacks would only grow stronger each time.
As a creature with intelligence, the mechanical soul was aware of the things that were fearful about humans and that was the desire for knowledge. If he was caught, the human sorcerer would definitely dismantle him into the most basic elemental unit due to the desire for knowledge. Not even his soul would be left alone.
Thousands of soul flames had been devoured by the golden flames of the mechanical soul along with the blood and flesh of the spirits of the dead. If not for the consecutive waves of light explosion of darkness, the mechanical soul could already have turned into a massive creature of at least twenty yards in height and one-hundred yards in width.
Pain!
The mechanical soul no longer had the strength to scold the winged skeleton. The dark elements silently shrunk, then expanded, then transformed into light elements. Even his golden-colored soul flame felt pain.
The mechanical soul never knew pain since he was born, but at that moment, he was in so much pain that he wanted to roll on the ground. His six mechanical legs sunk deeply into the rock. The metal drill was still desperately trying to open up a hole. The only problem was that he was having to use up too much energy for it. Ever since the light explosion appeared, at least half of the drill had been decomposed.
"Soldier, you must kill that fellow and turn him into a spirit of the dead for me to consume!" Another ten gigantic drills appeared out of mechanical soul's chest and drilled at the stone wall. The spirit strength that the winged skeleton had given him was being used up rapidly.
"Shut up!" the winged skeleton raged. If he was able to kill the grade-9 mage, he would never have to unleash the mechanical soul in the first place. Once this thing grew, it would be difficult to control. If he was unable to restrict the mechanical soul himself, not even the tens of thousands of people in the bone castle would be able to do it.
The mechanical soul pushed its six legs deep into the ground as half of his head was already in the midst of the rock. Even so, the posterior half of his brain was still decomposed by the light explosion. Sixteen crystallizations of dark elements shrunk and expanded and released the power of light elements simultaneously. Half of the mechanical soul had already vanished as a result.
The winged skeleton quickly unleashed a giant metal shield. By human definitions, this metal shield could not be defined as a weapon. After being thrown out, it stood erect on the ground and was more than a yard in thickness and more than five yards tall. This was a metal steel rock that he had been studying. After turning it into a shield, he had wanted to use it to summon a grade-8 spirit of the dead as a form of weaponry.
Now, the fifth wave of light explosion of darkness immediately turned this shield into dust.
Outside of the rock that was dozens of yards thick, the control that the grade-9 sorcerer reigned over his powers remained the same. Almost all the attacks were aimed at the mechanical soul and only a few missed. As a result, the attacks expanded the space in the rock cave by more than two times.
As the winged skeleton was throwing the shield, his left hand was hit by the light explosion and it disappeared just like that. His bones were harder than ordinary grade-9 spirits of the dead and should be difficult to destroy. Being able to amplify the magnitude of the attacks by five times had allowed the grade-9 spell to nullify the difference in grades.
Thirty-two crystallizations of dark elements appeared in the cave and began to collapse inwards.
The winged skeleton screamed and took out the precious soul flame that he had obtained from Judikaka's brain. He swallowed it without hesitation. The spirit king's soul flame went straight to his brain, enveloping the winged skeleton's silver soul flame and was about to devour it.
Thirty-two light explosions of darkness occurred at the same time. The mechanical soul was also screaming as he shrunk the golden soul flame into a small dot. Spirit runes that were more than a yard long appeared on the outside and were spinning violently.
Although it was a bit rushed, the final wave of light explosion of darkness still turned everything in the space into dust. Only two things remained; the mechanical soul's head and a cluster of soul flame that was silvery red in color.
The winged skeleton could feel the light elements infiltrating his soul flame. Judikaka's soul flame was being cleansed by a powerful force before integrating with the winged skeleton's soul flame. In that instant, countless memories were taken away and erased by the light explosion of darkness. A square-shaped symbol flew up from within Judikaka's soul flame and shone in the air.
This symbol let out a low sigh, as if it had just realized that Judikaka had been completely destroyed.
Outside of the rock, the six grade-9 magic nuclei broke into pieces in the magic array underneath the grade-9 sorcerer. They were then carried away by the water current before turning into dust.
The sorcerer was stunned for a moment, but regained his composure quickly. The final wave of attack consisted of sixty-four crystallizations of light explosion of dark elements. The benefit of the final attack was not meant to be high. It would be difficult to complete by using only six grade-9 magic nuclei.
Even so, the grade-9 sorcerer did not think that the death mage trapped in the rock would be able to survive.
The attack was like a perfect magic experiment. Hopefully, Agares would compensate him the six grade-9 magic nuclei that he has used up. At that thought, the sorcerer moved his fingers up and brought down hundreds of streams of water. They cut off everything in the magic array and instantly destroyed the grade-9 magic array.
This was a skill unique only to him and he intended to keep it that way.
After that, the sorcerer split open the lake and flew straight up to the surface. Water pressure of a depth of close to two-hundred yards was nothing to him.
The grade-8 sorcerer was waiting on the surface. When he saw the sorcerer appear, he asked, "Grand Master, how is it?"
"They should be dead. Bring people down and open up the rock to see what is left. Bring back anything that has yet to be destroyed." With that, the grade-9 sorcerer flew back to the harbor.
He did not believe that anything would be able to survive his attack in such a small space. Leaving behind the grade-8 sorcerer should be more than enough.
Inside the rock cave, the sixty-four crystallizations of dark elements did not collapse within. Instead, they dove straight into the winged skeleton's soul flame. Judikaka's soul flame was penetrated by the crystallizations of dark elements. The square-shaped symbol pounced forward, wanting to merge with the winged skeleton's soul flame.
The winged skeleton knew that things were not looking good. He was using whatever remaining strength he had to move those sixty-four crystallizations of dark elements. They were held in position by the symbol before exploding suddenly. The symbol was an object without intelligence, a rule pattern left behind by Shanglan.
As the sixty-four crystallizations collapsed violently, the symbol changed direction and enclosed them completely.
The winged skeleton could sense a terrifying force within the symbol. It was now in a spherical shape and was expanding and contracting again and again. It was as if Judikaka's memories, which should have been completely erased, had now reappeared in the winged skeleton's soul flame.
Such powerful inheriting ability! The winged skeleton had no idea where this symbol came from, nor who exactly Shanglan was. He only knew that this name belonged to the person that left this symbol behind. If this symbol entered the soul flame, he would lose his freedom forever and could even implicate Saleen.
He would not let that happen!
Instantly, the winged skeleton understood a little about the ability to interchange between the expansion and contraction of elements. He used his mental strength to control the remnants of elements within the space, including his own soul flame, and injected them into his own core. That was the source of his spirit strength.
"No!" the mechanical soul was pretending to be dead all that while. When he saw the winged skeleton doing everything he could to burn up everything, he knew that he would definitely be implicated. He had no idea why the winged skeleton was doing what he did. Perhaps the winged skeleton had gone crazy and just wanted to finish him off once and for all. The mechanical soul was truly afraid now. Why? Why was that skeleton giving up the chance of living on eternally? Could he be trying to protect the safety of the death dimension? What had that got to do with a skeleton?!
