Emica Kana is 18 years old. She has always loved writing stories., They were her escape from reality. She always wished that a man would come and save her like they always do in the stories.
Well, she got her wish.
Emica entered a small writing school that was near a river. Her friend had joined her. But, the teacher had an odd vibe around him. Emica became a little scared of him. She especially became scared when the teacher started to pay more attention to her. One day, when she runs from him, she falls into a world of adventure, risk, and abnormalities. 
But, her teacher is what scares her more than this new world. What secrets and schemes did he use to get her here?

(I'm gonna talk a bit about my personal journey so if you guys are not interested, then just skip to the tips.) 
Like many normal teenagers, I had gone through an awkward phase. Sad thing is, I went through it in grade 9, so most of the people in my high school still remember my awkward phase. (I'm in grade 12 now.) But after looking at pictures from that dark time, I realised that my face didn't change at all. It was my style, my mannerisms, and my hair. I also found a deeper meaning in those changes. So here's what I found that made the difference between awkward phase me and glown up me:

1. A fail proof hairstyle is plain, natural hair. 😻 Also try all lengths of hair by cutting it to shoulder length first (or longer if you are scared) and then growing it out. See which stage you like best. (I don't think this would work with afro hair. I've never had friends who have afro hair.) I love a YouTube video for tips on this. Please comment to let me know if you guys are interested in it

2. Try to get contact lenses. 👀 I know some people suit glasses. I personally don't. But getting contacts really helps if you have oily skin and glasses just keep slipping down your nose. Or if you are like me, with 800 degrees myopia, then ditching heavy glasses feels so good. Getting contact lenses also allow me to go crazy without worrying about it flying off my face. 

3. Don't use makeup for the sake of using makeup. Use it according to your needs, your face, and your style. Also, keep in mind your overall outfit. Sometimes, a loud outfit with a loud makeup can take over your body and hide you. You want people to see you, not your makeup. Of course, there are exceptions such as creative makeup. 

4. Be mindful while shopping. 💸Just because something looks good, doesn't mean it will look good on you. Also avoid fast fashion to save up for more quality items. Always check for the quality of fabrics, the color scheme of your closet, and what you usually wear. If you don't wear skirts, don't buy a skirt. I also love a YouTube video for tips on this. 5. Work out.💦 You don't have to aim for losing weight or gaining curves. Working out enhances your metabolism, the lines on your arms and legs (makes you look extra sexy), and improves your complexion. You will radiate from the inside out. Working out doesn't have to be tiring or tedious too. You can try dancing, cycling, stretching (splits are cool!), etc. 

6. Commit to a hobby.🔥 Mine would be piano, which I started playing when I was three. During my awkward phase, I wasn't practicing at all and I was embarrassed to tell people I had been learning it since I was three and I actually have certificates for it. REALLY COMMIT TO A SKILL PLEASE! Also, don't underestimate the amount of money your special skill can bring you!! I received 500RMB once for winning an award in a writing competition, plus 100RMB for being a volunteer at the award ceremony. XD

7. Please listen to your mother when she says you look bad.💯 She's probably right. I can't express how many style mistakes I made because of not listening to her. 

8. Be more reserved. 😶Talk only when you have something meaningful to say. My awkward phase consists a lot of me blurting out dumb, hypocritical, ignorant, and sometimes offensive things. I think this is why I didn't have friends. Also, if you are not sure if your opinion on something is right (as in, in consideration of all perspectives and not on an ignorant basis), ask questions. It's always fun to get to know what others think. But if you don't have the ability to recognise your ignorance, then I can't help you. Only time and maturity can help you at this point. 🙄

9. Take care of your skin.💦 Depending on where you live, you might not need a skincare routine. Taking care of your skin does not necessarily means buying products and putting them on your face. Taking care of your skin can be applying body lotion, washing your face with a simple face wash as soon as you get home (gets rid of pollutants), clipping your bangs up for sports (avoids forehead pimples), not touching your face, etc. 

10. Do your eyebrows.💯 If you are born with perfect eyebrows, don't touch them. But I had a uni brow. For beginners, personally I feel like it's better to use a small brow shaver instead of a tweezer. It does not hurt as much and if you fail, your hair grows out faster. If you can afford, get your brows done for the first time at a salon, then follow the shape at home when it grows out.

I feel so nervous most especially when he said that. The way he said it sound like trouble is about to come.
 
"O-kay.... what is going on?" I ask still confused to what he just said, this is the first time Michael talk to me first but the sound of his hoarse voice made me very nervous.
 
"J-Just be ready, because everything you know is about to change." He said with an awkward smile.
 
I am confused upon hearing what he said. This made me even nervous and uneasy, my relationship with Michael ever since elementary is so cold and yah! Nothing at all, we never talked to each other normally. Even from the time he came to stay with my uncle for college and that we see each other every day since we are walking on the same places every time, yet we never have shared a very interesting conversation at all. We seem to feel awkward with each other's presence thus the cold ice we feel every time one is near.
 
"Ah, Michael. W-what do you mean by that? A-are my parents in here?" I ask trying to hide my blushing face and that nervousness I am feeling. 
 
He smiles and signs me towards the kitchen so I now got my answer to where my parents are. 
 
"Th-They have been waiting for you in there. Ahmnnn Anna, good luck." He said making my face burn but at the same time my heart beats fast.

Casper, Ian, and Nina are watching a movie; those 3 are my Uncle Oliver's children and my really unsocial cousins but they are cool when you get to be open up with them. Michael on the other hand is related to my Uncle Oliver's family because Michael's father is distant relative of my Uncle Oliver's wife, Aunt Cedes. And when Michael's father died my aunt take him into their house to help him study and she pays for Michael's studies in exchange he must stay to Uncle Oliver's house and help in his shop. Aunt Cedes is abroad so we seldom see her during our stay here.
 
"Anna dear, is that you? Come on here at the kitchen we have been waiting for you." I hear my uncle's call from the kitchen and since their kitchen and living room table are separated with a wall divider, I can't see who are there or if my parents are there. 
 
I take a deep breath when I see my niece Clayra running towards me and then keep on pulling my bag so I had no choice but to let my cute 4 years old niece have it. 
 
"Careful Clayra." I said as I watch how she is struggling to carry my bag towards the sofa where the others are sitting.
 
I slowly walk towards the kitchen divider as Clayra sit on the sofa next to Michael and starts to ransack my bag. I instantly turn red at the thought that Michael is looking into the content of my bag. My so messy and full bag, not to mention all my class cards are there so he can see my not so well but doing fine grades. I see that Clayra found what she is looking for when she stops looking into my shoulder bag and left it scattered on the sofa beside Michael.

When he looks at me I mouth him my thanks before I take one last deep breath before I continue heading towards the kitchen just to see my parents and my 3 siblings, my elder sister Arsey the mother of my niece, my brother Ezzar and my sister Daisy sitting on the wide dining table together with my uncle Oliver and 3 new faces. 
 
"Hel-lo." I softly said as I nervously look at them, I somehow feel uneasy about this.
 
There is this lovely lady who turns to look at me and starts to cry. She has this dark hairs and fair skin; she is wearing a blue dress while her hair is in messy bun. Beside the lady is a man who is patting the lady's back as his eyes gazes at me, weird. The man has this black hair and a tan skin; he is also wearing a formal suit, those types we usually see worn by business men. On the other side of the man is another man, a man in his 50's and is also looking at me..... so weird. In front of the man is a black bag or in business term, a brief case.
 
"Oh don't just stand there dear. Come and sit so we can start... explaining things." My mother Mary Marcelo said sadly who is sitting beside my father August Marcelo. 
 
I sigh before I walk towards an empty seat just in front of the 3 visitors. I slowly sit and notice that their eyes are all towards me. My heart starts to pound heavily. Why do I feel so uneasy about all of these? I look at my family and I can feel this dark sad aura surrounding them making me scared and nervous. But when I look at the two new faces in front of me, I feel this uncertain warmth in my heart... so weird. To my observation they must be couple seeing how the handsome 30's looking man hugs the woman who is also so pretty and looking like in her 30's to. The way they are looking at me makes me feel so warm, happy, nervous, and scared also not to mention I feel like vomiting all at ones. Who are they and why is the atmosphere feel so tight? Why does my parents look so sad and distressed?
 

Every one of us must have watch or read any fairy tale books in our entire life. Fairy tale story like: Snow white, sleeping beauty and our famous Cinderella. It must be great to live in a rich life where everything you want is given or provided, a life with servants at our disposal, and a life with a handsome prince charming ready to save us. But.....THIS certain story is not like any fairy tale story we had read and watched. This story is about being brave, being you and being who you want to be.

Anna Marie Marcelo is like any normal college girl who dreamed of a fairy tale like life but ends up accepting the reality that she is a farmers’ daughter and that’s just it. This made her study hard and work harder for the dream she wants to achieve in the near future. Together with her friend Margie Rose Domingo, they both face the reality of their boring, normal yet contented life.

I have been awed by the mystery and the powers of the elements since I was a kid. I think I ought to give credit to all the anime cartoons that was available in our time, especially when it dominated the Philippine Primetime shows in the 90's. I also caught the Funny Komiks fever which is actually quite an integral part of my childhood as I've learned to read and associate the words just by looking at the pictures – all by myself and with my twin brother, KC. This culture pushed me to draw pictures and cartoon characters that led for me to be creative, ultimately finding out that I can make and invent stories of my own. 

As my skill advanced from the traditional stick figures, I needed a challenge and by the age of eight, I have started to make my own stories loosely based on the arena-type battles such as Dragonball Z, Pokemon, and Flame of Recca. We don't have much money then so we have to improvise to hone our craft. After the end of our school year, my twin brother and I used to pull the spring from my notebook and compile all the empty leaves to stitch 'em up together to form a thick notebook to make my cartoon stories – my very own comic book. We have made tons of it, usually strips of stories that ranged from ten to twenty pages at most, but by the end of my first year in highschool I finished a full length comic book story called "Pyrobot" – a robot created to protect the Earth similar to Combatron and Megaman. But this didn't make me happy though. The plot of the story is quite juvenile then, so I plotted a story – a serious one that touches topics of mystery and gives tales of adventures made by an entirely different civilization. That's when I conceptualized "The Omegatribe", which is the book's original title eleven years ago. I tried to plan it to fruition but then school made me extremely busy, it forced me to just put a pin on that project. 

Graduation came fast which made me happy for a bit thinking I could start the project in hiatus but lo and behold, college revealed to be my enemy too. I tried drawing slides and planned to color it in the computer by scanning it and rendering it on Photoshop but all was in vain as this takes too long a time to continue. This project is going down the drain and I could feel the urge of giving up but luckily, God has given me a window. He led me to our college publication, The Business Access Magazine, and this gave me the necessary foundation to make me adept in putting my thoughts into words. After gaining my bachelor's degree in Management at the Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila, I finally vowed to finish the story I started on 2003 and turn this comic book into a novel instead. On January 2009, I started to write it all up. It's quite hard at first as I have been writing it while taking another degree in accountancy at the University of the East. Also, the challenge is the research and plotting the story to make it complete. This ate time that it took three years for me to finish it and another year and a half to revisit the story: to create a time table, assign the time frame, and identify the lunar faces on each chapter. I have finished writing it on the same time I passed the board last year on May 2013. I have to thank God for this miracle as I couldn't have done it without his blessing, guidance, and inspiration. It's quite a challenging adventure, one that I am really thankful to experience.

When Bathala created the world, He made sure that the Earth will be safe from the Mortals: the Men and Women of the Earth. Their potential for evil has saddened Him deeply. He has to go away to create Paraiso but He needs to protect them from destroying themselves.

To make sure that life will prosper on Earth, He has blessed three righteous tribes and mandated them to protect the Fountain of Life from being corrupted. The Fountain seeds green life on Earth. Without the fountain, life will cease to exist.

The three tribes that are led by Nagozul, Yagisiv Haya, and Daomagar, left their villages and created their dominion on Bathala's three islands collectively known as The Holy Lands. Their purpose: "Protect the Fountain of Life at all costs." They have been true in following their holy edict and have proven themselves to become the Holy Sentinels of the Lands of Bathala. They have maintained the secrecy and the anonymity of the Holy Lands with perfection as life continued on Earth.

Tens of thousands of years later, the Kingdom of Nagozul has now grown arrogant and has disobeyed Bathala's mandate. An impending doom now shrouds the Holy Lands. Extinction of the mortal race is upon them and the fate of the world is at stake. It is up to the brave Holy Sentinels, the young Princes of Nagozul, to complete the mission and save the souls that are inhabiting the islands of God.

This is my very first novel. So, the chapters will be short. *winces* Sorry about that...



I would like to make a few things clear to all my future readers...

First off, my home language isn't English. So there will be some grammar mistakes. I try to fix as many as I can, but they'll still be there. "Oh boy, now they're going kill me...", *clears throat* R-r-right, on to the next point.

I started writing because I love stories and I have a lot of ideas stuck in my mind. When I was younger, playing with my dolls helped me to get the stories out of my mind. But since I gave my dolls away, I got stuck with stories always in my mind. So I thought to myself "what the heck, I'll just write these ideas down" And so my ideas gradually started to form a story.

I also started to take my writing a bit more serious because I would like to improve my writing skills. I ask that if you come across a mistake I made to please point it out. That way, it helps me to learn from my mistakes and write better.

I've recently started to draw my own pictures for my story. All pictures used in the story are my own. I'm not very good at drawing but it's fun and helps me to actually see the world I created with my own eyes.  So I hope you'll like them even with their many flaws! :-)

Also, I'm a grade 11 student and I'm writing in my spare time. Thus my story is progressing very slowly. *sniffle*

The Shadow Forest is a beautiful, peaceful place...on the outside. But a danger has been lurking in its shadows for a long time. 

A prophecy: A hero will rise to defeat the evil with a weapon no man can wield. 

Within the Shadow Forest, twelve years ago, a tragedy shaped the future of a young woman. Now, alone, broken and moulded by the hardships of life, she lives in the cursed forest, trying to keep others from nearing the Death Bridge - the place where bodies disappear and screams of horror echo. 

But in her veins, an ancient power stirs.

She meets a curt, handsome, white-haired warrior and a bandit with a frightening physique and a soft heart. Learning of the prophecy, the trio sets off on a danger-filled path to save the kingdom.

They will face mysterious creatures, fight fierce battles and uncover terrifying secrets all while emotional struggles follow them like shadows.  

What will prevail? Light or darkness? Love or sadness?

"Momo... hurry up!!.... we're going to be late!!" Yelled Linda, as she rushed towards the newly constructed building within the school premises.
Little Momo and her, were on their way towards the chemistry laboratory.
Today, they were taking Chemistry 3.
Ever since the beginning of April, they had been taking 6 main courses:
•Biology 1 (Classes of living organisms)
•Math 4 (simple variable math, like find X)
•Chemistry 2
•Chemistry 3 (introduction to lab science)
•Physics 1
•Phyno 4
Apart from these ones, they also had other fun and creative courses that occurred once a week... like:
•Arts & Craft 1
•Ethics & Morality 1 
•Health & Hygiene 1
•Literature 1
•Music 1
• And Physical Education 
Another surprising thing for the students was that this year, the school had created a Student Council body based on the votes from the students.
Also, each class had a class monitor and deputy class monitor that's entrusted in assisting the teachers in class, aiding the weak students, roll call... and so on.
No matter what amongst the 2 leaders, one had to be female and the other male.
Generally, once the winners for both the Male Group and female group emerged.... the students would then vote between the 2, and choose who should be the class monitor or deputy class monitor.
For the biology class, the students were taught the basics like: cells, microbes, plant systems, animal systems, invertebrates and vertebrates.
In short, they were taught about all the classes of living organisms.
Of course for Math 4, they focused on simple variable math... like 5x=10, find X.
In that class, they focused on understanding one to two variable equations..... which were usually linear equations.
For chemistry 2, the students would still focused on reactions, atoms and so on.... but now with the use of calculators, they had begun learning about calculating molecular weight and so on.
Of course just so that the students could breathe a little, music, literature, physical education and arts & craft were essentially a must.
In short, this semester was a busy one.
Today, Linda and little Momo were heading towards the Chemistry Lab in the new school building.
Once they got in, they immediately climbed the stairs until they arrived at the 3rd floor... where they were greeted with a large group of students outside the lab.
The area was bustling with busy students.
Friends greeted each other with hugs or playful punches, while others had their eyes glued on their books as they continued doing assignments that were due in the next class.
Some already had their lab coats and safety wears on, while others were busy wearing theirs on now.
In fact, everyone was doing their own thing as they waited for the class to begin.
Instantly, the duo opened their bags and quickly pulled out their neatly folded lab coats and safety items.
For this class, everyone was required to wear their lab coats, gloves, rubber boots, and goggles.
Linda looked at her watch and knew that it would soon be time for them to go in.
And right on queue, Mother Kim and teacher Gophen opened the lab doors from instead and ushered the students in.
"Morning Teacher Kim!"
"Morning teacher Gophen!"
"Morning teacher...."
"__"
Everyone greeted their teachers, as they walked in and immediately found their usual spot.
The Laboratory was massive, with several working slabs, cupboards with equipments stored in them, and a small storage room at its front.
Linda and Momo immediately spotted their other group members, and rushed over to join them.
Ever since the beginning of the semester, they had been put in groups of 5.
Apparently, these people would be their lab partners throughout the entire semester.
"Alright.... before we begin, you all know the drill.
In front of each group, are 5 question sheets.
You all have 7 minutes to answer them.
Remember, no cheating and no copying.... these small tests make up 20% of your final grade.
Now.... Begin!!"
Linda immediately flipped her question sheet and got to work.
For this Chemistry 3 course, they had 1 theory class on Tuesdays, and 1 lab session on Thursdays.
And at the beginning of each lab session, they would have mini quizzes that would test them on what they had learnt in their Tuesday classes.
Chemistry 3 was a course based on Laboratory work, so they had to know about the equipments in front of them, safety lab hazards and so on.
In fact... Ever since the students knew that these questions were 20%, they had taken them seriously
Linda filled her name and school number on the question sheet, before proceeding to answer the questions.
The questions were straight to the point, and easy to answer if one was paying attention during lectures.
And just like that, time flew by quickly... 7 minutes later, the quizzes collected back by teacher Gophen.
And the papers were collected, Mother Kim began distributing the Lab manual sheets for today's experiment.

"Alright.... before we begin our Laboratory experiment, let's recap on what Teacher Winnie has been you all in Chemistry 2." Mother Kim said.
The students immediately took out their books and writing materials.... While others flipped the pages of their books to the last pen-filled page.
It was important for the students to know about what reactions they were going to perform today, hence it was good for them to recap on what they were previously taught.
"So as usual, let's look back on what you all have been learning so far.
I need a few examples of chemistry around us... anyone?" Mother Kim asked, as she waited for the students to raise their hands.
"Yes Filipa?" She said, while pointing at a little girl at the front of the room.
"Air is essentially chemistry, because it's constantly undergoing a chemical change.
For example, we breathe out carbon dioxide and take in oxygen... so air is always changing.
Also... air undergoes changes whenever smoke is released in to the atmosphere by burning, hence it's part of Chemistry."
"Correct!!.
Any other examples of Chemistry around us?" Kim asked.
"Our bodies."
"The ocean"
"When we make bread."

Chapter 15. Daedongyeojido, Part I

A vacant lot for a building, which had been full of silence for a while, was now filled with the atmosphere of a construction site.
 
"Get rid of this lump of flesh! It's disturbing!"
 
"Need two more people here!"
 
"We need three people here! Hurry up!"
 
At the center of the atmosphere was the dead body of a giant snake.
 
The Black Snake, which had doled out fear and despair, was now paying for it.
 
People were clinging to it like ants, gnawing apart its body, little by little.
 
There were different ways.
 
"The chainsaw has stopped! Oil! Give me some oil!"
 
There were those who were cutting off its head using a heavy-duty chainsaw, and some people were digging out the flesh beneath its skin with pickaxes and shovels.
 
"Be careful, watch out for the forklift!"
 
There was also a crane driver removing the accumulated flesh with the crane which was in the construction site .
 
It was hard, of course.
 
"Oh, it's harder than hard work on a construction site."
 
"I'd rather do delivery service up and down. What kind of body…"
 
But still, it was full of vitality.
 
"But it's better to be this tough."
 
"I am in sweat after a long time, and it's good to live now."
 
They could see how precious it was to be able to do something hard while sweating.
 
"Mealtime, it's mealtime!"
 
Oil was poured onto their burning energy.
 
"The menu is ramen, Rice Cake Ramen!"
 
A huge cauldron, found in a nearby restaurant, showed up with boiled rice cakes and instant ramen noodles, and saliva filled everyone's mouths.
 
"Let's eat and then work, let's eat!"
 
Everyone stopped what they were doing for a while, and started enjoying the meal together. The breaths of those eating hot ramen rose from all over the vacant lot continuously.
 
It was a warm sight to see.
 
However, Jang Sung-hoon's expression of the scene was not so positive.
 
"Brother, would you like a bowl?" Bang Hyun-wook asked Jang Sung-hoon, but there was no answer. Jang Sung-hoon looked at the body of the Black Snake being dissected, with a hard face.
 
"Brother Sung-hoon!"
 
"If you want to eat, you eat alone."
 
"You're not really going to eat, are you? Don't ask me for some."
 
Bang Hyun-wook ran away with those words to the line in front of the cauldron. Jang Sung-hoon, still watching the scene, once again stiffened his expression that had relaxed for a moment.
 
He looked at the body of the Black Snake with that hard face. At this moment, Jang Sung-hoon had one worry.
 
'Where should we go?'
 
There was much to be done in the future.
 
Once we have made an item using the body of the Black Snake, made the Mac Clan into the Mac Guild, created Clans under the Mac Guild, and selected a representative of the public...
 
There were important things to do after that.
 
'The first priority we face right now is to have a self-sufficient system: to secure land for farming. It is necessary to save more survivors because it requires a lot of labor. This winter will pass like a shot, just doing these things.'
 
'The next problem is…'
 
'If the words of Lee Jin-sung, the dead head of the Messiah, are true, there are stronger monsters than the Black Snake around Bucheon City. Currently, the grade of monsters that Kim Tae-hoon could kill was the yellow-grade.
 
Even he barely killed it. If he met a monster with green eyes, he would inevitably die.
 
'Even he just stays still, it will be game over, in the end.
 
'However, we can not stay in Bucheon City forever. If we stay in Bucheon City, we will be attacked by monsters coming here someday. If we are trapped in Bucheon City, it is not much different then being a farm to a monster.'
 
'We have to move.' 

'In the end, we have to move. To live, we must move on without stopping. But as said before, no one knows what threat is! It is like walking a minefield without any clues or information!'
 
"It's a real fuck." Jang Sung-hoon threw up curses at the situation.
 
If it was a difficult problem, he would be worried about finding the answer, but the problem he faced now was not a difficult problem.
 
No answer could be found, even if one was worried about it.
 
"Brother!" Bang Hyun-wook came up with a bowl and walked toward Jang Sung-hoon.
 
"I don't want to eat," Jang Sung-hoon said in a slightly irritated voice.
 
"Big brother is here."
 
"What?" At the following words, Jang Sung-hoon had to make a surprised look. "Has he done it already?"
 
Jang Sung-hoon saw everyone, eating their delicious ramen noodles, rise from their seats and bow their heads.
 
It was the return of the king.
 
Kim Tae-hoon, appearing just like that, immediately walked over to Jang Sung-hoon and said, "I'll start after a cup of coffee."

"Oh, my God."
 
"No way, did he really do this alone?"
 
Two men, dressed like butchers, with plastic aprons, rubber gloves, and meat-carving tools, were briefly distracted by the sight in front of them.
 
It was the path of dead bodies spread out before them.
 
There were bodies lying on the road, not of humans but monsters; of not just one kind, but a variety of them!
 
What was more surprising was the condition of the bodies.
 
"The condition of the bodies..."
 
"Is this possible?"
 
They all had a hole in the head, or their heads were cut off.
 
The only choices given to the bodies were the two. Except them, nobody was found choosing another option.
 
If they had been a rag by the explosion of a bullet or a powerful bomb, there would have been no reason not to believe it.
 
So those who came to deal with the dead bodies, forgetting what they had to do, stared at the path of carcasses for a while.
 
Bang Hyun-wook was also present among them.
 
Bang Hyun-wook, who was on duty to protect people in case of attack by unknown monsters, looked silently at the scene created by Kim Tae-hoon.
 
"Tut." He clicked his tongue briefly. 'I can't even be his right toe, let alone his right arm.' After clicking his tongue briefly, he swallowed the complaint through his neck, and then his eyes sank briefly, with a mixed expression.

Bang Hyun-wook looked at the back of his right hand, and some kinds of emotions began to shake intensely in his heart as he did so.
 
And that time there was another man whose emotions were fluctuating as intensely as his.

"Oh, my God."

"Whale, how much did you eat?"
 
Looking at the outside image, it was a plain, detached house, a two-story house with a garden.
 
The inside of the house was filled with all sorts of artworks.
 
It was another world in the eyes of Jang Sung-hoon.
 
"I heard that the Whale had collected whatever he needed, but I didn't know he had gathered this much. Looking at the level of the collection, I guess he was a kleptomaniac. He wouldn't collect things like this unless he was interested in stealing them."
 
Jang Sung-hoon, who was looking at the artwork on every side, had a bitter smile on his face.
 
"It's funny to say this, but it's no wonder that if the world, where these people lived in a grand style, collapsed, there was nothing wrong with it."
 
His complaints stopped there. Jang Sung-hoon did not forget why he was here. He immediately took out his smartphone.
 
"It's going to be a tiresome job to take photos one by one because there are so many."
 
The only reason he came here was to find relics that would help them in the war with the monsters in the future.
 
That was all.
 
Kim Tae-hoon picked up a small bottle of liquor close to him, instead of answering Jang Sung-hoon.
 
He handed it over to Jang Sung-hoon. Jang Sung-hoon received it reflexively and cocked his head.
 
'Why did Kim Tae-hoon suddenly give it to him?'
 
At the doubt, Kim Tae-hoon answered briefly, "It's a relic."
 
"Yes?"
 
Kim Tae-hoon began to look around instead of answering the question, with his black Eyes shining. The Eyes of Black Snake were in action.
 
The active Eyes of Black Snake turned the landscape of this place into another world, with a different meaning for Kim Tae-hoon.
 
With the Eyes of Kim Tae-hoon, he could see the relic. As soon as he looked at the relic, it was like he was wearing smart glasses, and could see its ability.
 
The same was true of the painting Kim Tae-hoon now saw.
 
It was just a beautiful woman painted during the Joseon Dynasty. There was no way of knowing whose painting it was. However, it was different in Kim Tae-hoon's Eyes.

Instead of answering, Kim Tae-hoon looked around and pointed his finger at several items.
 
Jang Sung-hoon no longer asked questions. He took pictures of the pieces Kim Tae-hoon pointed at and carefully packed them.
 
The search for relics that was expected to take a long time progressed quickly.
 
Jang Sung-hoon's turn came after taking the most visible relics right away.
 
"It can't be all there is to see. I'm sure he has hidden the most valuable pieces all over the place. Of course, the most classic hiding place is the wardrobe."
 
Jang Sung-hoon found places where the original owner of the house, Baek Sung-taek, had hidden other pieces, starting with the wardrobe, inside its thick door, as well as hidden in the flowerpot on the veranda. Among them, the jackpot was behind the wallpaper.
 
"Actual treasures are not hidden in the safe." Jang Sung-hoon started tearing up the wallpaper, after searching all the places he could easily search.
 
A writing, which was quietly placed behind the wallpaper, appeared.
 
Dae Poong Moo Ae (大風無碍): it meant "There is nothing rough before the great wind."
 
In front of the simple and clear writing, the name and seal of the owner of the writing were printed intact.
 
"… Oh, my God."
 
Staring at the writing, Jang Sung-hoon had the most surprised look on his face.
 
"That's ridiculous. This can't be the original… How did a receiver of stolen goods get a piece of an unpublished work by Choosa…"
 
Choosa Kim Jung-hee. 
It was the name with such a significant weight that Jang Sung-hoon had to look surprised.
 
On the other hand, Kim Tae-hoon was not surprised. He warned Jang Sung-hoon, "Take the writing and step back."
 
"Yes? What are you saying…?"
 
'Swish', Kim Tae-hoon's right hand turned black while he waved it back and forth, telling Jang Sung-hoon to back off.
 
Black Skin. 
Kim Tae-hoon, displayed a power that dyed his right arm right to his shoulder, immediately began to press his power against the wall, not anything else.
 
Bang! With just one punch, the solid wall had a giant hole in it. 

Splatter! The debris started to fall to the floor, and the things hidden inside the wall were revealed.

December 31st, 2016 – the day before New Year's. Kim Taehoon was just casually shopping for groceries at the large store. Monsters suddenly appeared out of thin air. With the highly trained skills that he had gained from his previous occupation, he starts to hunt the monsters down and manages to win, saving countless people who were also at the mall.

But there are more and they don't stop coming.
Will he be able to survive until the end? 
Will he be able to beat the countless monsters that only seem to get stronger?
And will it just be monsters that he has to worry about? 

The journey of Kim Taehoon, The First Hunter, begins.

The First Hunter is a short Korean, action-fantasy novel situated in a post-apocalyptic world. Monsters start appearing out of nowhere and people are unlocking strange powers. Those who unlock such powers are called ‘Hunters’, ones with the strength to kill the monsters. To fight and survive, that is their goal. Society crumbles and the world burns.

A very fun novel that dives into the plot almost instantly. The novel is interesting in a way that it depicts a lot of human nature and what people would do in a situation such as this is quite an accurate manner. The character development is also very good as you get to learn about the characters, their backgrounds, and their stories. All in all, this is another novel I’d recommend to a lot of readers who are interested in reading fantasy and gaming novels.
