Free Empire Online was a game created by God to test 100 humans for the upcoming changes on Earth.

Transported to a world of swords and magic where a year is equivalent to a minute in earth, Jake struggled to live and at the last mission (mission 10) he was the only one who survived.

The online forum had started to gain some traction with users who had fought against Quinn, they started to post comments just below about the video.
 
"Yeah I fought against him too and he used those red lines on me."
 
"I lost in an instant."
 
"Is there really an ability like that in the game?"
 
"It looks like wind slash but why are the lines Red?"
 
Of course, even though the post had gained some traction there weren't many. After all things like this were posted on a daily occurrence and usually, it was from some people who couldn't accept a loss thinking the other person must be hacking.
 
But those who did watch the video started to ping the creators asking If what was seen in the video was real. Of course, one of the Admin staff for the game came along and checked the video but this person wasn't any ordinary admin staff, it was a student at the school named Logan Green.
 
Logan himself wasn't ordinary for he was the son of the creator of the game and not only that but was one of the head coders as well. He often visited the forum to check for bugs and if there were any, he would try to fix them while still attending school.
 
Then suddenly late at night that day he noticed that post had started to gain traction. Usually, he wouldn't have bothered with these things but the staff where getting tagged in the post more than usual.
 
After watching the video, suddenly his attention had been caught. Logan immediately could tell that the video was real. He searched up the two user ID's that were in the game and then decided to look at the match information.
 
After searching them up he noticed that the player that was being questioned in the video had selected no ability.
 
"No it couldn't be, did he really manage to hack the system?"
 
Logan then began to dig in deep into the match and checked everything about it. He checked the log of the game and everything that had been written down as the match went on but there wasn't a single thing he could find that was wrong.
 
Logan actually felt relieved, the game so far had been successful not only because of how it was able to accurately replicate abilities but also because the game had yet to be hacked.
 
After finding out this information, Logan had no choice but to think it had something to do with his ability. Although originals abilities weren't able to be copied into the game, this was the only answer he could think of.
 
But one question remained and that was just who was the user behind the user behind ID Blood evolver. It was company policy to not keep records of any of the users in the game. The data was scrambled so not even he could get access to it. But that wouldn't stop Logan.

The next Day combat classes had resumed back to normal, Layla the other day had gone to register the team with Del and even he was surprised at who was written on the list.
 
The group became the talk of the class, after all, they were the only ones with such a huge difference in power levels between the team. Something that hadn't happened in the school before.
 
In the combat class, the group were told to continue training independently and if they wished to spar with a partner they could politely ask. Leo would go around giving tips to the students when he could.
 
In the afternoon, after classes were done, Quinn would head the VR room to continue his daily routine. He continued facing low-level ones and used the second half to train.

But the more people Quinn played against the more traction the original forum post was getting and all of this was unknown to Quinn. He didn't even know there was an online forum for the game. Quinn had never had any of these things in the past.
 
He had access to the TV and internet but didn't really know much about games. It was only thanks to Vorden showing him everything, he knew what to do.
 
Another Day had passed and Quinn repeated the process.

Not only was Quinn quickly gaining exp, but he also felt like he was getting a hang of his abilities more. He knew when was the right time to use flash step and also learnt how to combine his two skills, so he would be able to disappear and reappear while using Hammer strike.
 
In two days, Quinn felt like he would be ready.

Inside the second year's office, a group of first years had been called to into the General Duke's office. Standing at the front of the first years was Earl. The same boy who had recently been hanging around with Peter as well as the one who had broken his fingers.
 
"I have made sure that the room will be empty for you tomorrow. Make sure you do as I asked, I need you to get rid of them." Duke said
 
 "Yes sir, we promise."
 
"Good" Duke replied as he threw over a couple of beast crystals as well as a skill book. "You should be able to progress to level four with that skill, carry on working hard and there will be more."

The next day after combat classes had ended, Peter had messaged for Vorden and Quinn to come to the training room on the east side. This room was usually off-limits to student since it was also used as a room to store portals.
 
But after reading the contents of the message, both Quinn and Vorden had rushed offer.
 
The message simply said that Peter needed their help.
 
While heading over to the room, Vorden and Quinn had bumped into each other.
"Did you get Peter's message?" Quinn asked.
 
 "Yeah that's why I'm here, I knew those friends of his were bad news." Vorden said, "Quinn you stay behind, I can deal with this myself."
 
"No way, he's my friend too, I'm going to kick those guys asses if it's the last thing I do."
 
Vorden could see he was unable to convince Quinn so the two of them continued together and had finally arrived inside the training centre.
 
The room was large and there were several large metallic objects with an oval shape in the middle. Each one of them had a glowing circle in the middle shinning with a different colour. These where the portals that took them to another world.
 
There were nine machines out in total, three of each colour and for a moment, it felt like they were unable to take their eyes off the things.
 
When they had entered the room, they could see that Peter was lying on the ground badly hurt. He laid on the ground just in front of one of the teleporters and it looked like he couldn't move.
 
Quinn and Vorden looked around the room, but were unable to notice anyone. They both then rushed over to his side. He had bruise marks all over him and he scuffed up pretty bad with scratches all over.
 
"What happened to you, was it those first-year students!" Vorden shouted.
 
 "Yeah they got me pretty bad, they went out just a moment ago, I don't think they're going to come back."
 
"Alright let us pick you up," Vorden said as he lifted Peter's hand over his shoulder.
 
As the two of them picked up Peter, Quinn had a strange feeling, as he looked at Peter closer, he noticed that even though his clothes were badly torn, he didn't look to be in such bad a shape that he shouldn't have been able to walk. Even the bruises didn't look normal almost as if they were drawn on.

"Vorden let go of him, it's a trap!" Quinn shouted.
 
But before Vorden could even realise what was happening. Peter had broken free and immediately pushed Quinn as hard as he could. The push wasn't strong and it didn't hurt Quinn but it didn't need to be, because that wasn't Peter's aim.
 
That one little push had managed to push Quinn just far enough back to the point where he had entered the portal.
 
"WHAT HAVE YOU DONE!" Vorden shouted.
 
The colour of the portal was red.

The box was a glossy plain white colour with no pictures or information written on the exterior. It looked just like any other random box and could contain anything. What did Suit Guy say it was? A something-A model watch?
Abigael shook her head and accepted it for what it was. She was a little disappointed she didn't get the industrial coffee machine, but her luck had never been good in the first place, it was a miracle she got anything.
She walked over to Supermarket A's service counter and received her paperwork before chucking the box into one of her already bulging shopping bags and decided to call it a day, she just wanted to go home and sleep already.
After parking her bike outside her apartment it was 8:30pm and she still hadn't eaten anything since the chocolate bar. Unfortunantly she was waylaid by her chatty neighbour for yet another twenty minutes after getting out of the elevator. Hungry, exhausted and a little depressed she wanted nothing more than to curl up on the sofa, eat chocolate and watch mind-numbing TV dramas. She was struggling to stay awake and couldn't seem to muster the brain power to come up with a good enough excuse to get away. She wished she had the guts to just walk off.
'But Mimsy didn't go anywhere near her perfume collection. I keep telling her it must have been the wind but I know she just doesn't like animals, she's a sour b*tch after all.'
'Yes Mrs C, actually I...'
'I know! Maybe she broke them herself by accident but is too stingy to buy new ones so now came up with this ridiculous story blaming poor Mimsy. Oh, how heartless! It doesn't matter what she says I won't fork out a cent for such a lying, deceitful...'
'Um, Mrs C...'
'Nasty, cat-hating...'
'Mrs C I smell something burning.'
'Smelly little- Burning you say?' The smell of charred baking was wafting slowly out of the open door to Mrs C's apartment. Mimsy the cat had already sought refuge in a pot plant in the hallway as the stench threatened it's sensitive nose.
'Oh heavens! My muffins!' As quickly as Mrs C arrived, she left again, rushing to save her muffins from a charred ending. 
Abigael silently thanked the universe and tottered her way to her apartment next door.
Dinner was a bland affair, too tired to cook anything she just mixed some nuts and fruit with a little yoghurt and made a smoothy. 
After putting away all her groceries she was about to put the bags away when she realised there was still that box. 
[I may as well open it, it was a first place raffle prize after all] she reasoned, stashing the bags in the cupboard and grabbing the box before flopping in an ungraceful mess of posture to recline in front of the TV, box in hand.
There was nothing interesting on the outside of the box, so without further ado she flipped open the lid and started pulling out the wrapping layers. 
Surrounded by a few walls of plastic and more than enough bubble wrap to satisfy her popping obsession for the next month, there lay a watch.
It was not bulky but it wouldn't considered delicate either. It was black, but a dull metallic sheen could been seen as she turned it around, observing it. In short, it was a watch. Avery plain watch. Abigael couldn't help the though that she had been ripped off, then remembered it was pretty much free anyway.
She pouted at it, wishing it was at least fashionable looking, but eventually decided to try it on. She slid it over her hand and looked for something to adjust the strap but there didn't seem to be an adjustable parts on the smooth black material.
[Well that's just great. Now it's broken too, was this whole raffle just a hoax to begin with? Maybe that wooden spoon kit was the only useable thing there. Whatever, how do I turn this thing on?] She grabbed the box again and rummaged through the wrappings for a manual only to come up empty handed. Even the paperwork she received from the counter only had purchasing information. Not deterred she decided to work it out as she went along. In her frustration she didn't realise that she had started mumbling to herself under her breath. 
'No button, no switch, not even a charging port. How am I supposed to turn this stupid thing on?'

The small screen suddenly lit up with a beeping sound, displaying the word in white on a black background.

{Please wait while settings are calibrated} The words scrolled across the screen and Abigael had barely finished reading when the wrist strap suddenly tightened around her wrist without warning, earning a startled yelp.
Shocked, Abigael quickly tried to loosen the strap and remove the watch but found that there was no way to loosen it. It was strapped firmly to her left wrist and wouldn't even twist around her arm, it was like it had been stuck to her with a powerful glue.
'Sh*t!' Alarmed, she ran for the kitchen and grabbed whatever she could put her hands on, which turned out to be a butter knife, and tried to prise the thing off of her. But to no avail it seemed. After a frantic five minutes of jiggling and scraping, and accidentally cutting herself once, she dropped the knife in the sink and returned to the sofa, defeated. Some thirty minutes later there came another beep and a new message.

She gave the watch a glare but decided she may as well play with it for a while, she'd find a way to get it off later, maybe the manual was digital, a copy somewhere in the watch. She started tinkering with the settings, setting the theme colour to purple and imputing her details and so on. Eventually she finished and clicked the Confirm button.

After displaying the text the watch beeped and displayed a rather normal looking smart watch screen with a few pre-installed apps.
The first thing she noticed was the time, displayed in the top right hand corner of the screen. It was already 10:30pm. Abigael groaned, remembering she still had to get up early tomorrow for work. She decided to forget about the watch and deal with it later 
Turning off the TV and putting her finished smoothy glass into the sink, she turned off the lights and headed for bed.

Abigael was leading a quiet and ordinary citygirl life when by chance she acquired the watch model of the  Pilot Launch Omni-Technical Armour. From that day on she would go on a journey of self discovery and growth as she learnt the truth about the world and even about the PLOT Armour itself.

"If you ever need anything don't hesitate to call," Marissa encouraged as she dropped Hazel off in front of her cabin. 
She smiled at her neighbor's kindness. "I won't. Thank you. Say hi to your husband for me."
Hazel hadn't met the fabled Doug but she had heard his name mentioned multiple times now. Maybe she would meet him when Will took her skiing. The resort he owned was the most well-known one in the area. 
"Same to you!" Marissa said cheerfully before revving the snowmobile's engine and heading back to her own house. 
Life in the mountains grew rather complicated in the winter. Marissa had to drop her children off at home first since her oldest son was capable of watching his siblings for short periods of time. Then she had to hitch a small trailer to the back of the snowmobile to fit Hazel's groceries before coming back to get her. 
As she put all of the food away she couldn't help but wonder if Will had one of those too. She knew he had two snowmobiles but that was the extent of it. Since the garage had been converted to a pool room, the snowmobiles hung out underneath a roof overhang to keep off the worst of the snow. 
They were always covered with tarps but she hadn't seen a trailer. Was it kept in the shed off to the side of the cabin? That would make sense. Marissa's hadn't been terribly large; a trailer would fit in there. 
Hazel knew she should be working on her comic but really didn't feel like it. So she baked pumpkin cookies instead. Maybe the sugar would help her regain motivation to finish her chapter.

The cookies didn't help at all. The longer Hazel procrastinated, the less she wanted to get back to work. She was so desperate to avoid getting back to work that she actually turned on the TV and started channel flipping. 
Normally that wasn't her cup of tea at all. But she would currently do anything to avoid fulfilling her responsibilities so she munched on a cookie while looking for something decent to watch. 
Talk show. Soap opera. Police procedural. Commercial. Why wasn't there anything interesting on the one time she wanted to watch television?!
"…twelve episode docuseries on the most prolific American serial killers in the last fifty years. Each episode focuses on a different killer with a high victim count, such as Ted Bundy, the Green River Killer, and the Bay Area Blade."
Hazel's cookie fell right out of her mouth at the mention of her parents' killer. She wanted to change the channel immediately but was frozen in place. 
She didn't want to hear this! But she couldn't make herself move. 
The person speaking was a renowned criminal psychologist according to the text on the bottom of the screen. He continued, "The series focuses on the psychology behind what makes a serial killer. How these people grew up, what shaped their experiences, and why they made the horrible decisions they did. 
"Understanding the psychology behind such deranged minds can help people in close proximity to dangerous individuals see warning signs before it is too late. Many of these killers showed obvious signs of being mentally disturbed from a young age."
Hazel wanted to scream. What a load of bull! Series like these served solely to satiate people's sick curiosity. 
Why? Why were serial killers so interesting to the masses? Did they have any idea what those monsters were actually like? They weren't some zoo animal to gawk at! They killed people, destroying lives and families. 
Mentally disturbed from a young age…What, like her? The girl who ended up in a mental hospital for four years of her childhood because of a freaking serial killer traumatizing her? 
None of the kids in that hospital were actually a danger to anyone. They had been shunted off there by adults who didn't care enough to help their children who were "difficult." These were kids who cried too much or had auditory hallucinations or screamed from night terrors. Not future killers. 
She barely managed to process that the stupid docuseries would start airing soon. Finally regaining her senses, she snatched the remote from the floor and shut off the TV. It was tempting to chuck the remote at it and watch it shatter but Will actually liked TV so she didn't want to cause him trouble. 
How would she explain herself? He didn't know that she loathed serial killer junkies with a passion because her parents were victims and she had nearly been one as well. 
Hazel needed to cool off her head. She put on her snow gear again and headed outside to lay in a snowbank. That was how Will found her twenty minutes later when he came home. 
"Uh…Hazel? What are you doing? How long have you been out here?"
"A while," she admitted. 
He helped her to her feet and brushed the snow off of her before examining her more critically. "Your face is completely red! Come on, let's warm you up."
Will led her inside and gently helped her remove the snow clothes before depositing her in front of the fireplace and getting a nice flame going. She watched the flickering flames dully as he went to fetch her some hot chocolate. 
After handing it to her, he sat down and looked at her expectantly. What could she even say? Lying in the snow for so long had been a stupid thing to do. 
"I needed to cool down," she said flatly. "Sorry for worrying you."
Will raised an eyebrow. "What could have possibly gotten you fired up enough to need to lie down in the snow?'
The genuine concern in his voice made her tear up. She looked down at her cup of hot chocolate so he didn't have to see. She really didn't want to talk about it. "People are stupid, that's all."
Hazel couldn't see his eyes glinting dangerously as he spoke again. "Who did you talk to today?"
"It wasn't anybody I talked to," she whispered. "It was on TV."

“I’ll marry anyone who will take me!” Hazel declared loudly. “I don’t need love!”

“Get down!” Will hissed. “You don’t know what kind of people are lurking around in here! Talking like that might get you killed!”

Hazel Dixon thought she was putting her troubled past behind her. But when the person she thought she trusted most betrays her, she loses her head and proposes to an entire bar full of strangers. 

Enter Will Sheffield, a charming stranger who decides to take her up on her offer to save her from herself.

Apartment 5 

Li Xiuying looked at the dishes she had prepared. They were all artfully placed on their respective plates. The aromatic fragrance and beautiful appearance immediately caused one's appetite to be stimulated. 

Li Xiuying nodded her head. She took off her apron folded it and put it away in a draw. 
There was a ringing coming from the foyer.

 She picked up the phone in the foyer. "Hello"

Wang Juan: "Hello Dr. Li this is Wang Juan calling from reception. I have a Miss Ren here. Were you expecting her?"

Li Xiuying: "Yes please allow her to come upstairs. Thank you."

She then put the phone down and waited by the front door. 

Two minutes later there was a knock at the door. Li Xiuying unlocked it and pulled it open.

Li Xiuying: "Hello come in." 

Ren Daiyu: "Hello Xiuying! Thank you for having me." 
She had a massive smile on her face.

She came in and stretched out the hand carrying the bags towards Li Xiuying. 
Ren Daiyu: "These are just a few snacks I bought. There's some ice-cream in there too, so you'll have to put it in the freezer."

Li Xiuying took the bags and briefly looked at the contents. She didn't recognize anything in the bag. Li Xiuying: "Thank you. There are some slippers at the side for you to wear. Let's head to the kitchen to eat."

Ren Daiyu took off her shoes and replaced them with a pair of fluffy pink slippers. She followed behind Li Xiuying towards the kitchen. Ren Daiyu was enveloped by a fragrant and appetizing aroma and it was getting stronger the closer they drew near to the kitchen. She swallowed a big mouth full of saliva.

Li Xiuying went to the freezer and put away the ice cream. She but the two bags on the side for later.

Li Xiuying sat down on a chair at the counter and Ren Daiyu sat next to her. There were already plates and chopsticks as well as serving utensils next to the dishes. 

Ren Daiyu took in all the dishes on the counter: "Xiuying you didn't have to order in especially for today."

Li Xiuying: "I didn't."

They began eating in a comfortable silence. Each occasionally putting food items on the others plate. Li Xiuying initially thought there would be plenty of leftovers but only a singular spring roll remained on a plate. 

Ren Daiyu sighed in contentment: "I've never eaten such a delicious meal before. That was the best meal I've ever had, which restaurant did you order from? I'm going to be there no.1 customer from now on."

Li Xiuying started clearing the dishes. She had a small smile on her face and was happy that her friend enjoyed her cooking so much: "I made it."

Ren Daiyu's eye widened in astonishment: "REALLY?! Did you go to a culinary school as well as medical school?"

Li Xiuying: "Online videos, recipes and practice."

Ren Daiyu picked up the remaining dishes from the counter and nudged Li Xiuying away from in front of the sink. She then started washing up.

When Ren Daiyu finished she looked at the clock and spoke:"Let's go to the living room and watch some TV, my favorite show is on in 5 minutes. It's called The Soul Unraveled!"  

Ren Daiyu grabbed the snacks on the side and followed as Li Xiuying led the way to the living room.

Ren Daiyu looked at the sofa: "Do you have any thin blankets?"

Li Xiuying nodded then went to go fetch two blankets from the guest bedroom. Ren Daiyu turned on the TV, pulled the coffee table nearer to the sofa and positioned the cushions on the sofa. She tipped out the snacks on the coffee table.

Ren Daiyu on seeing Li Xiuying return: "Sit down." When Li Xiuying sat down, Ren Daiyu opened up a blanket covered and covered her with it. She then sat down and covered herself with the other blanket. She grabbed a bag of popcorn opened it and put it in Li Xiuying's hands. Ren Daiyu then grabbed a pack of QQ gummies and began eating.

Television Program

TV: "Hello everyone and welcome to today's episode of The Soul Unraveled! I'm your host Kuang Fai. Today is a very special day for us its the 100th episode of The Soul Unraveled! To celebrate the achievement and to thank our wonderful viewers for their support, today's show is not only LIVE but it has been extended by one whole hour! 

The audience yelled and applauded in excitement.

Kuang Fai said eerily: "We have two guests on the show today. An Elementary school teacher Hu Jing who has been described by his peers and family to have a "split personality and become someone else." 

Audience: "oooooooo."

Kuang Fai: "But our first guest is Deng Chuntao, a first year university student currently studying economics. She says that she often has the feeling that she is meant to be someone else and people who know her have said that she can predict the future or knows how to do things that she's never even learned before."

Kuang Fei walked down a set of step to the side, at the same time he had an arm pointing to the stage welcoming Deng Chuntao to the stage. She came and reclined on a classic black chaise, similar to what people would expect to see in psychologist office. 

The audience applauded and then quietened at the lights were dimmed. A bright spot light was on Deng Chuntao.

Kuang Fai spoke softly: "Please welcome to the stage our resident star psychic and psychologist Dr Lin Shan."

Dr Lin walked on to the stage, a spot light followed him as he sat next to the black leather chair next to Deng Chuntao.

Dr Lin: "Let's delve into the depths of the soul and unravel its mysteries."
Ren Daiyu chanted along: "Let's delve into the depths of the soul and unravel its mysteries."

Li Xiuying had a small smile on her face as she heard Ren Daiyu. 

On the TV, Deng Chuntao was being hypnotized to sleep by Dr. Lin. 
Dr. Lin: "Hello Deng Chuntao, can you hear me?"
Deng Chuntao eyes remained closed as she responded with a sultry laugh: "I'm not Deng Chuntao"
Dr. Lin: "My apologies, then who are you?"
Deng Chuntao: "Kobayashi Himari of course. The Heir of  Kobayashi-Kumi. The biggest Yazuka syndicate in Japan."
Dr. Lin: "Okay Miss Kobayashi Himari. Can you tell me what year it is?" 
Deng Chuntao: "1645"

Ren Daiyu animatedly gasped: "She was a Yakuza!!!" She then stuffed some gummies into her mouth and continued avidly watching the TV.

The show finished 2 hours later; it was now 6 pm. 

Ren Daiyu: "I don't think Hu Jing will be accepted back at the school considering he looked pretty happy about being told he was a serial killed in his past life. So creepy. But that Deng Chuntao, Can you believe that innocent little girl was a Yakuza, a baker, a brothel mistress, a male warrior, a 6 year old orphan and a successful business man. She was only 19!"

Li Xiuying: "Fake."

Ren Daiyu looked appalled: "NO! How can you say that?!"

Li Xiuying: "That girl is an extra in many films."

Li Xiuying had met Deng Chuntao in her past life; she came in for multiple fractures that occurred during a movie shoot. Deng Chuntao had talked non-stop about her roles including her act on The Soul Unraveled.

Ren Daiyu looked heartbroken. 
Ren Daiyu dramatically put her arm over her face and fell back onto the couch: "How could Dr. Lin do this to me?"

But the interview with Hong Dali about his Mechanical Man was to be aired at these two channels. That caused a very strange phenomenon—the adults who knew of this news stayed in front of the TV. The children didn't know anything; hence, they watched cartoons on the Children's Channel as usual. Groups of geeks who gamed all day also gathered at the Heavenly State online gaming website.
Everyone in Heavenly State, from young to old, white-collar workers to gaming geeks, all knew about Hong Dali's Mechanical Man. The scale of the audience group was to a point of luxurious. This was probably a program that was most sought- after.
This was definitely something unforeseen.
At 7 PM in the evening, the viewership ratings for Tianjing Children's Channel hit 7.8%. The unique IP address at Heavenly State online gaming website was at 4.95 million and crazily rising.
Two new patients were admitted at the Tianjing City Center Hospital. They were the Station Director of Tianjing Children's Channel and Director of Heavenly State online gaming website.
These were just minor incidents. Soon, it was 8 PM. The interview on Hong Dali's Mechanical Man began.
The first fifteen seconds was an opening animation that was put together at the last minute. The animation was extremely rough—it was obvious it was a slipshod job. After the animation, four big words appeared: Young Master's Mechanical Man! 
For a program with such a high viewership rating to have such a slipshod title opening animation could not be justified. But people got over it quickly because, compared to the actual program, this animation was not bad… 
People had expected the program to be simple and straightforward, with the interview taking place at a public place. Of course, people did not watch the program for the background. The problem was, it was an interview with the most famous person in Heavenly State, and Hong Dali, was who being interviewed, had his face mosaiced!
That created a rather comical scene.
On the left side of the screen was a mosaic that kept changing. On the right side of the screen, the top was empty and the bottom wrote Young Master's Mechanical Man. In the middle was a black stick. The focus was on the black stick which was almost stabbing into the mosaic…
A female viewer who was not aware of the situation subconsciously asked, "TV stations nowadays have nerves." A kid beside her asked, "Mama, what are they doing?" The female viewer hurriedly covered the kid's eyes—this can't be seen. It will give them sore eyes! She replied, "They are eating ice cream, and they have terrible table manners!"
That's what she said, but curiosity urged her to continue watching—TV stations were so bold as to show people eating ice cream on screen. There must be a reason to it. 
On the screen.
The voice of the Tianjing Children's Channel's reporter sounded. "Hello, Young Master Dali. I'm a reporter from the Tianjing Children's Channel. My name is Tong Xueping. I'm glad to have to chance to interview you today."
"Ah, it's my pleasure too." Hong Dali lazily said, "En. Ask me your questions. Don't stand on ceremony." He then turned to the side and said, "Sister Nianwei, can you get me an ice cream? The weather is too hot…"
The female viewer stared in bewilderment. Young Master Dali? Sister Nianwei? Were they the very popular Hong Dali and Li Nianwei? Eating ice cream? Eating ice cream while doing an interview?!
Since there were TVs, Hong Dali was probably the only person who could eat ice cream while doing an interview!
On TV, the ice cream was quickly sent to him. Hong Dali licked it…
All the while asking, "Ah, Reporter Tong, ask away. Me eating ice cream will not affect the interview!"

"Ah, that. Sure!" Hong Dali licked his ice cream again. "What do you want to know?"
Tong Xueping: "About this Mechanical Holy Garment, or Mechanical Man, how did you first come up with this idea?"
Hong Dali: "It's nothing. I just wanted to squander. I was planning to invest fifty million to make a movie named 'Holy Warriors of the Goddess.'"
The female viewer got interested. "Investing fifty million to make a movie? I have been out of touch with the entertainment news for too long. I don't even know if this 'Holy Warriors of the Goddess' is good. Hmm, I shall go watch it when it screens." 
"Investing fifty million to make a movie!" Tong Xueping was stunned. "I've heard about it. In fact, I'm rather anticipating it! But Young Master Dali, what has this movie got to do with Mechanical Man?"
Another lady's voice sounded. "Young Master's Mechanical Holy Garment was a prop for 'Holy Warriors of the Goddess.' But this is not just a prop."
Hong Dali laughed. "Yes, that's right. Sister Anqi knows me, indeed!"

A "wiring" mechanical sound sounded and the box opened up by itself. Li Yang's right foot was wrapped by the armor of the Mechanical Holy Garment. The box opened up wide and Li Yang put his hand into the intended part.
The armor was separated into two parts—one being the pair of legs and the other being the upper body portion. Li Yang held on to the upper body portion and put it on his chest. At that moment, countless steel plates emerged from the Mechanical Holy Garment and wrapped around his entire body within seconds. Together with the helmet, the transformation was completed!
Li Yang's body was covered with a silvery-white armor. Even his eyes were covered. It looked really cool. The scene blinded everyone in front of the TV and computer screen and their 24K gold-plated eyes.
"This… this is the Mechanical Man?" Tong Xueping was astonished!
The folded up Mechanical Holy Garment was slick and small, making it easy to carry around. To think it was so easy to put on. Everything was automatic!
"Ah, let's not try the weapon first. Just watch the video that was taken at New Lanxiang earlier." Hong Dali said, "It will be troublesome if we blew this place up…"
Tong Xueping gulped. She would never dare to ask Hong Dali to try the weapon system—she had heard about the power of the Mechanical Man's weapon. She couldn't afford it if this place were to blow up…

"I have to squander; otherwise, won't it be a waste of my parent's talent at earning money?" Hong Dali answers a reporter's question matter-of-factly. 

Just after the interview ends, Hong Dali opens the Great Prodigal System's interface and looks at the various good stuff displayed in it. Stroking his chin, he mumbles to himself, "I just need to squander 200 billion yuan more to exchange for the blueprint of the core technology, Engine Destruction, found in the strongest humanoid mecha weapon, Neo Granzon. "Hitman"?
Never heard of the game. Is it a mini-game made by foreign developers?
Ren Suo glanced at the clock. It was near noon. He ordered food to be delivered, then peed and washed his face. When he was done, he settled on the couch in the living room and started playing the Mini Worlds Gaming Console.
The apartment his uncle rented out to him was well-designed, furnished with a sound system, a 4K TV, couch and other furniture. It was a haven for a single inhabitant. And even more so with a girlfriend.

Because buying these two masterpieces had nearly emptied Ren Suo's gaming fund, he wasn't intending to buy digital copies of games on the Hell online game store. Digital copies were typically more expensive than physical copies. Unless there was a discount, Ren Suo would not consider them, not to mention the collectible nature and resale potential of physical copies.
If he were to become rich in the future, Ren Suo would collect game discs as trophies of his glorious days;
If he were poor, then he would sell them away to recoup his losses. After all, these games cost him quite a fortune.
Because of these two reasons, Ren Suo chose to buy physical copies despite their long delivery time.
Without the games, Ren Suo had no choice but to leave the Hell4PRO in the garage and play "Hitman" on Mini Worlds.
He clicked on [Free Game of the Month]. The game description of "Hitman" introduced the game was an action RPG – an immersive assassination game. The gamer played the role of a modern hitman who had the skill "Bullet Time" and was a master of all weaponry and combat styles. He could even pick other assassin characters. It looked pretty impressive.
After selecting to download the game, a message popped out:

"What? I can only play one chapter in the free game, and I'm left with less than 15 hours?" Ren Suo complained. But having seen the likes of too many freebies in Xuan Nation, he wasn't too surprised.
Yet, the download speed of this game was crazy quick. In less than five seconds, Ren Suo received the message that the download was complete. That took away any hopes Ren Suo had about the game. Although the apartment boasted Xuan Telecom's 200M fibre optic cables, a game that could be downloaded via WIFI in less than 5 seconds couldn't have been more than 100M in size.
Even if it was just a single chapter, the music, software, images…etc. had to be downloaded still. Such a small game was either cut to its bare bones or tiny in scale to begin with. Although size didn't equate to a game's quality, it limited how impressive a game could be.
"Looks like it's just a mini game… Wait?"
Ren Suo suddenly realized that he had not connected the Mini Worlds Gaming Console to the apartment WIFI.
But this Mini Worlds Gaming Console was omnipotent the moment it appeared. It could connect to Hell4PRO's game controller and the DaMi TV. It wasn't too much of a stretch for it to be able to connect to the apartment's WIFI automatically.
However, the moment he entered the game, Ren Suo's slain expectations revived immediately!
On the screen, rain drops fell off the roofs of the buildings on either side. Pitter patter, they hit the murky alley floor. In the distance, the lights on the skyscrapers and the streetlamp outside the alley became the only source of light in the alley.
And in that dark abysmal alley, a figure shrouded under a black umbrella stepped leisurely through puddles of water till he occupied the center of the screen. He was dressed in a suit, his bearing straight, like an aristocrat in the rainy night.
Just then, the camera zoomed in under the umbrella, giving the player a clear view of this man's face-

"What the-? This isn't CG, it's the actual graphics in the game?" Ren Suo was stunned. Even now, the rain-soaked alley was visible behind the character. The play of light, the rain drops, the buildings, the details, the ambience, the character… they were unmatched even by that so-called highest-performance game "Log Horizon"!
"No way this is a mini game. This is definitely a triple-A heavy-hitter!" Ren Suo's interest was piqued. He noticed that the character in the game was automatically set as a fearsome looking bald man. After he selected to change his appearance, a series of face-changing options popped out, intimidating Ren Suo.
Although he liked to control cool-looking characters, Ren Suo was really not that interested in changing their appearance, especially when appearance attributes are so finely calibrated now that a single facial adjustment involved changing a dozen of digits. As a terminal patient of laziness, Ren Suo wasn't going to waste his time on this.
Typically, one who liked good-looking characters but didn't want to waste time like Ren Suo would simply search for other players' records, copy their facial attributes and paste it into his game to make a character he liked. At most he'd adjust the pupil colour, hair style and hair colour. And voila – that'd be Ren Suo's character!
But when Ren Suo searched "Hitman" online, while he did find other games with the same theme and title, none of them had graphics like Ren Suo's version. And none of them allowed the player to change the character's face. So Ren Suo's lazy tactic couldn't work.
Thankfully, in the menu there were options like [Recommend a face] and [Recommend a character].
In [Recommend a character], apart from the initial 'Bald Hitman', 'Clown Hitman', 'Demon-Hunter Hitman', there was also [For more characters, please purchase Characters DLC].
Ren Suo looked and realized that apart from the looks and voice, the choice of characters would affect their skill and abilities. For instance, the Bald Hitman's skill was [Bullet Time], which affected the speed of time;
Clown Hitman, who sported make-up on his face, had the skill [Shapeshifting], which needed 30 merit points to unlock;
the white-haired wrinkly-faced Demon-Hunter Hitman's skill was [Abyssal Wolf Sword Art], which needed 30 merit points to unlock.
Not only that, even their starting expertise were different. Bald Hitman's was [Combat Master] and [Weapon Master]. Clown Hitman's was [Weapon Novice] and [Throwing Expert]. Demon-Hunter Hitman's just [Grandmaster of Sword]. 
Among the three [Recommended Characters], only Bald Hitman was recommended for first-time players and free to use.
Till now, Ren Suo had not figured out how he could top-up credit in the game. Regardless, he was not going to burn cash on a game that would be deleted in 14 hours. So he picked Bald Hitman.
But of course, he wasn't going to use the default face settings. In the [Recommend a face] option, he picked a sharp-looking Xuannese face and added a teardrop shaped red mark on his forehead to make him look even more sick.
[Please name the hitman.] The message popped up after he confirmed the character.
Ren Suo just named him "Hitman". In the next instant, the image on the screen moved as his controller vibrated. The hitman smiled at him under the umbrella; he could now control this character.
Just then, a homeless drunkard appeared in front of the hitman. Stepping through murky puddles of water, he lifted his bottle like he was looking for a fight.
Through the process of subduing this drunkard and walking out of the alley, Ren Suo learnt the basics of the game. After knocking out the drunkard with his combat skills, the message popped out: [Find a way to enter the Lamperouge banquet on the 8thfloor of the Blackthorn Tower using a legitimate identity by 2000HRS.]
The camera moved upwards. In the screen, a bright majestic tower right in front of the alley rose up into the sky. A green inverted pyramid mark appeared above the tower. Looks like that's the target destination of the player.
Ren Suo controlled the hitman to walk out of the alley. Branded sportscars and lamborginis lined the road outside the tower. Ushers holding umbrellas came greeted and welcomed guests outside the tower.
He walked nearer to take a closer look. Those finely dressed social elites would produce an invitation before entering the tower. Only after the ushers had verified their invitations could they enter. Moreover, these ushers had impeccable service and manners; their eyes stayed on the guests all the way up till the point when they entered the elevator.
For example, Ren Suo saw a young gentleman who had parked a distance away and had filthy water splashed onto him. When he approached the building and flashed his invitation, the usher immediately said, "Mr. Ricard, we have spare suits and dryers up in the tower. Allow me to take you there."
"Thank you."
Truly, the usher's service was faultless. He led this young gentleman all the way to the elevator and told the usher inside the elevator about the gentleman's needs. Throughout the whole process, at least three ushers had their eyes on him. Looks like it was absolutely impossible to sneak in.
Ren Suo controlled the hitman and made him attempt to enter the tower. Naturally, he was stopped by an usher. The usher spoke a few lines of English and simultaneously, a dialogue box popped up beside his head, "Sir, please present your invitation."
At this moment, four options appeared at the bottom of the screen. Ren Suo could pick them using his direction pad, but he had only 10 seconds to do so, otherwise the first option would be picked for him by default.
①"I left my invitation at home."
②"I'm one of the people in charge of the company up above. I need to ride the elevator up to pick up a document."
③ (Attack him) "Since when do I take instructions from you?"
④ (Take out 5 pounds) "Cousin! It's been such a long time…"
Wow, he could pick a response? Ren Suo wasn't all too alien with this sort of gameplay. These options basically decided how the player would get past the obstacle. Based on Ren Suo's many years of watching gameplay videos, he believed that ① was pretty much a useless option;②was a tactic of talking his way through the obstacle;③ was surely charging through with brute force;④ was an option to bribe his way through. 
Tentatively, he picked the seemingly cost-free ② - "I'm one of the people in charge of the company up above. I need to ride the elevator up to pick up a document."
Usher: "Oh? Unfortunately, the tower's been closed since 1800HRS. Please come back tomorrow."
Ren Suo: "What gives you the right?"
Usher: "The fact that this tower belongs to the Lamperouge family."
Ren Suo: "..."
So his first attempt failed. Ren Suo decided to try again with the other options.
But this time, the usher frowned. "Why are you here again? Security, take this man next door so he can cool down."
Two nearly two-meter tall security personnel, dressed in blue uniforms, strode over and grasped the hitman, one on each side. Ren Suo assumed that the mission had failed. Soon, however, the hitman was taken to an alley.
"Don't start trouble, kid," the security guard patted the hitman's head, then turned around and started to leave. Subconsciouly, Ren Suo pressed a button on his controller and the hitman automatically seized the guard's neck and snapped it with a crack.
Ren Suo was momentarily stunned. But not the other guard. He immediately pressed something in his ear and shouted, "A hostile has appeared. Position – Palen Alley. Terry's been killed. Send reinforcements, send reinforcements!"
He pulled out his baton and pointed it at the hitman, retreating out of the alley slowly while he reported the hitman's deeds to his superiors.
Ren Suo watched as the security guard exited the alley. In the screen, the dead body of the guard began to glow a faint yellow. He made the hitman turn and examine the body. Three options appeared above the body: Search, Drag and Handle.
[Search] allowed him to strip the guard of his clothes and equipment and use them himself; 
[Drag] would mean to move the body; but when Ren Suo clicked [Handle], the game prompt appeared: [You do not have any tools to handle the body.]
Just then, a dozen men in black armed with guns appeared outside the alley and started shooting at the hitman. Blood burst out of the hitman and the game screen turned into black and white.
[You died.]

A boy around 17-18 years old yawned as he rose up from the bed and scratched his black messy hair. 
He got up immediately and started to prepare for breakfast. 

Living alone in a condo unit was Lucas Lauwers, now a 2nd year college student at Mapua Institute of Technolgy in the Philippines as an IT student. 

Don't get it wrong, his parents and family aren't dead. Since Lucas is now a college student, he decided to live alone and rented a condo unit near his school. Though, his parents are still the one paying for his expenses as he has no part-time job. 

After cooking a simple sunny side-up egg, he started eating and turned the TV on to see if there's something interesting. 

Seeing as there is nothing, he quickly finishes his meal and start to prepare for school. 

"Hmm...hair ok, clothes.....ok I guess?" 

Lucas muttered as he stares at himself in front of the mirror. 

Reflected on him was a boy with black hair with his forelocks split into two above his right eye and eyes that suggested lack of sleep wearing a dark grey shirt with minimal design, black denim pants and finally, dark grey shoes with black checkers. 

Overall, his looks is as average as it gets, if not, just a bit below. 

Seeing as it won't get better no matter how hard he tries, he sighed and started to go out. 

[[And now let's have a bit talk about gaming-]] 

An adult male's voice rang out from the room just as he was about to go out. 

"Ah, I forgot to turn off the TV..." 

Lucas turned around and started to walk towards the TV to turn it off when he suddenly hears an interesting talk.

It wasn't just the two boys behind him that were talking about the virtual gaming device, ever since he went out of his condo unit, almost all the people around him were talking about it in excitement. Be it on the streets, the school lobby, hallways, cafeteria, or his classroom, he would hear words like [Portal], [World Gate Online], virtual world, etc. Frankly, he was already fed up with it as it reminded him how he cannot buy such a thing. 

After letting out another sigh, someone that looked like the professor came in and the students quieted as they went back to their seats silently. 

Though the class orientation has started, he would still hear his classmates whispering to each other saying things like checking [World Gate Online] later or buying a [Portal] after school. Because of that, his bad mood went on further and he could hardly remember the orientation. 

Since this is the first day of class and the professors only gave the orientation, class was finished immediately and he started to go to the cafeteria to buy lunch. After getting a simple meal which was the cheapest, he looked around to look for free table and spotted a table with his friends on it. Since there were no vacant tables, he chose to sit there instead. 

Even now, everywhere he hears things about [Portal] or [World Gate Online], even his friends were talking about it. Since he was filled with irritation, he didn't hear any of what they were talking about and silently ate his meal until he was suddenly asked by one of his friend. 

"How about you Lucas?" 

"Hm?" 

"Were you not listening? I'm asking whether you have the money to buy a [Portal]." 

Gavin Fastmark, one of his fellow IT student friends suddenly asked him while Lucas shut himself in his own world so naturally, he didn't know what he was being asked about. 

This isn't extortion by the way, Lucas isn't someone that was bullied though he probably looked like one. It seems his friends were also stuck on the same situation as him and were asking if there was one who can buy. 

"Of course not, even if I do, I don't have the time to play it." 

"Haah, I forgot you were the studious type huh? Since you have a bit of knowledge in animes and game, I thought you'll be interested." 

"Of course I'm still interested, I mean, who wouldn't? I'm really curious how they were able to make the game and the device, I wonder what algorithms they used?" 

"That kind of interest huh?" 

"Well, killing monsters is interesting too…but there's no helping it since I don't have money." 

"I know right?" 

They all sighed at the same time disappointed by their own lack of money. 

Though Lucas said what he said, he was seriously interested in playing the game, and he didn't lie when he said he was interested on how it was made, as an IT student, he was seriously curious about it. 

After finishing their meal, they gave their goodbyes and went for their next class.

School has ended without a hitch, though, Lucas was still in a bad mood as the continued talk about [World Gate Online] around him. As an otaku, Lucas is really irritated over the fact that he can't play such a fantasy like game where he could play using his own body strengthened by the system, using magic, swords, defeating legendary monsters like dragons, he was put on a bad mood as he went back to his condo unit. 

After changing his clothes, he lazed around the unit either by reading mangas, watching animes, and reading light novels to forget his misery. Though his friends know him as the studious type with a bit of knowledge in animes and games, in reality, Lucas was a lazy person who would laze around like so though he isn't that into games but still played a few. For now, he avoided playing games as it will only remind him about [World Gate Online]. The reason why he kept it a secret was so that his parents won't be able to know about it through any means possible. So he created another personality of himself, the scholar, studious, know-it-all type. 

Even as he lazed around, he never forgets to do his homework and studies when there is an exam. So I guess you can really call him a genius to be able to get scholarship despite being actually lazy. Though, he probably never realized it himself. 

After being satisfied, he prepared dinner. Since he wanted to sleep early, he cooked a simple meal and finished it fast, this time, he made sure that he didn't open the TV to avoid hearing news related to [Portal] or [World Gate Online] and went to bed. 

"…A virtual world huh…must be nice to live in such a fantasy like world…" 

After he let out a mutter while staring at the dim ceiling, he finally closed his eyes. What he didn't know, that as soon as he wake up, something unbelievable would come that would change his world.

*bzzz bzzz bzzz* 

A small light appeared in the room as Lucas continued to sleep. 

The small light which appeared came from his own mobile phone that vibrated as it received a message. 

New MessageCongratulations!!! 

You have chosen as one out of 1000 lucky people which were given their own [Portal] together with the game [World Gate Online]!!! 

[Portal] will be shortly delivered after 5 hours upon receiving this message!

Lucas Lauwers, an ordinary college student submits an entry for the lottery to win the very first virtual gaming device and game on a whim and wins! He played the game for the first time without any information beforehand and joins a party. The party then encounters a boss level monster right of the bat and he was left alone by his teammates, he stumbles upon a hole and was able to get away from the boss monster only to be stuck inside the cave! Not being able to set the town as his resurrection point, the cave was set as default since he had rested there. With nowhere to go, what will Lucas do?

Jessy went to the living room and pressed the remote control of the TV to watch some news.
Nana Aida comes into the living room holding a broom and dustpan and began sweeping the floor.
The news anchor began with her morning news round.
One of the news headlines was about the report regarding the serial killer. The serial killer was finally caught and killed by self-defense of the heroic military officer, Captain Mercado.
The news anchor began her morning news report.
"According to the police personnel who answered Captain Mercado's call to report regarding the serial killer's death...they arrived at the park to see the military personnel's face and hands covered with the blood of the serial killer. The Captain happened to be in the park during the time the killer was hunting for his next victim, the killer tried to slit the Captain's neck but failed when the Captain overpowered him resulting to the killer's untimely death with a triple slit on his neck. Who would imagined that the killer will die in the hands of his latest victim? He died the same way he killed his previous victims by brutally slashing their neck with his knife, and last night he died by his knife. We call it Karma! We commend Captain Mercado's heroic act of bravery putting an end to the killer's ten-month killing streak. According to the police report, this serial killer had killed a total of 24 victims to date with his random style of killing. We can now breath easier that one crime offender has been put to rest and already paid his crimes to the public. We will try to get an interview with Captain Mercado as soon as possible to air his side. Stay tuned for another update on this phenomenal news...this is Andrea Donovan reporting."
Nana Aida's face broke into a smile after watching the news. "Finally, the serial killer has been caught and killed! The cops finally did their job on time! One less bad people on this planet."
Jessy was not interested to watch Captain Mercado's interview, she turns off the TV.
"Nana Aida, I'm now going back to the Facility, I will visit you again probably next week. Bye Nana!" Jessy said.
Jessy was gone before Nana Aida can even utter a reply.

Jessy teleported herself right outside the clinic. She can see the doctor preparing the blood transfusion tool kit, she opened the door and entered the clinic.
"Good morning, Doc!" she greeted the physician.
"Good morning, Jessy! Are we going to start now?" the doctor said.
"Yup!" Jessy answered energetically and lie down in the bed, then she closed her eyes.
"How many blood transfusions you will do today so that I can inform them and get ready?" the doctor asked.
Jessy opened her eyes. "Let's do the usual quota of 3 per day...but if I'm in the mood we can add another 3... let see," she answered and closed her eyes again.
She made her consciousnesses rose above the Facility, trying to detect if there's an enemy lurking nearby. While her consciousness was suspended above the Facility, she roamed her eyes scanning the horizon left to right looking for something that requires her immediate attention. The surrounding area looks peaceful and nothing was out of the ordinary.
She soared towards the military campsite... the place was already empty...nothing suspicious there. She hovered all over the place just to make sure no enemies are lurking below the dense trees surrounding the Facility.
Feeling satisfied, she stopped her wandering and went back to her body.
Six hours later...
After her break, she went to Hannah's room to check on her. She found the pregnant woman sitting on the chair staring at the wall with a blank look on her face, she was looking extremely sad.
She tapped on her shoulder after the woman didn't acknowledge her presence. "Hi, Hannah! I'm here just in case you didn't know," she said jokingly trying to liven up the lonely atmosphere inside the room.
Hannah looked at Jessy, her eyes had a vacant stare on it. "Hi Jessy," she finally acknowledged her presence, then she returned her attention on the wall.
Jessy sighed. "What's wrong?"
"I missed Zain, but I'm afraid to see him again," the pregnant woman replied.
"I can take you there inside the room to see him in an invisible form, but I won't allow you to talk to him, he might turn ballistic again and do something violent to you that will only harm the baby. You have to understand that you need to protect the baby from Zain. If one day he is already emotionally stable, you can visit him again. For now, teach yourself not to crave his presence. Let's hope he will finally turn around and changed for the better for your sake and the child," Jessy said.
Hannah stared at Jessy. "Do you think it's about time he will know that the woman he married and making love regularly is me? Maybe, it can help him to let go of you completely once he knows that it's always been me that he spent his time with since the night of the wedding," she suggested.
Jessy took a deep breath. "I dunno, Hannah, give me some time to think things thoroughly. I'm still not convinced that it's now the right time to do the face reveal. If we tell him the truth it might only make Zain's condition worst. He might plunge into the abyss of depression of no return. I'm sure he doesn't like being lied upon and betrayed by the two of us. The deception we made around him on the day of the wedding might be the reason why he will no longer try to make himself better. He might feel betrayed by everyone and that will make him more violent, hopeless, helpless and useless. So, let me think of your suggestion for a few days, okay? I will let you know if I will agree to it," she said.
"Okay," Hannah replied.
Jessy extended her hand to the pregnant woman. "Let me hold your hand so that I can take you there inside the room since I still have a few minutes to spare, let's go!"
Hannah's crestfallen countenance brightened up. "Thank you so much, Jess!"
Jessy smiled affectionately at the woman whom she already considered as her sister. "Just want to remind you that you can't open your mouth, you might get tempted to talk to your husband. Hannah, no talking inside the room! Are we clear?"
Hannah nodded her head. "Yes... I know...I promise!" she said.
"Okay, that's good!" Jessy said, she held Hannah's right hand with hers and they vanished from the room.
