Lily's pov

Wow... Cool breezes brushed my skin it feels like I need to snooze further because of all winters period it's extremely difficult to wake early in the morning, 

"lily get up it's time to get ready" my aunt mumbled, she knows me very well that I'm getting very lazy on winter days,
today is my first day of university, all fresh start, new day, 

but my brain instructing me, sleep more, but only for 5 minutes' promise.

but my heart battle, Lily get up you are getting late, 

And as you know,

heart vs brain always won the brain.

Lily today is your first-day first impression to your teachers, get up you are getting late! 

And finally, 
I opened my eyes which is burning and irritating,
because I was reading horror books until 3 am in the morning, 

And finally, I get up from my bed, beam at my clock,

oh... shoot it's 6:15 I'm getting late 
And then, I hurrying towards the bathroom, brush my teeth and take quickly a shower and fastly wrapping my towel around my body, and rush to my room,
Take out my clothes from my cabinet and wear a black sweatshirt and blue jeans with white sneakers,
And comb my hair into a high ponytail and grab my glasses, 

yeah I know I look like "very nerdy ones", I mumbled myself look at into the mirror 

Aunt yell from kitchen "Lily your breakfast is ready" 

"yeah! coming"I replied,

I'm actually very scared, I have to admit this because it's all-new now, my life is begun with a fresh new start,
but I actually don't want to be tensed that much like " how can I make new friend, how I cannot get shy in front of teachers, how can I deal with ragging senior students "

but I'm not truly afraid that much,
because I have my best friend who always with me, she's Aditi Sharma, she's first Indian friend I came across in Brooklyn, at first I'm so nervous and shy in my school, I never talk with anybody But after meeting her, we both into best friend's,
she's always with me we both are friends since at age 15 we did our high school at the same school "st. Marry high school" 

And now our college was the same, it is "NYC mystic university" wow that's the dream of mine, I worked so hard to get a scholarship for this college, 

then I glared at the clock, 

Oh...Shoot it's 6:45

I snatch my backpack, but I stopped when I look at my parent's photo, and I get really emotional 

I mumbled "mom dad I wish you could be here, with me, I know dad used to be very happy when I finally grow up, today is my first day of my college mom dad I wish...I wish you could be here", my eyes replenished with water and, then I wipe my tears and hurry towards downstairs the kitchen.

Aunt preparing a sandwich, which I loved it, I know she always tried hard to make me smile, she knows how I suffer so painfully after my parent's death, that's why I love her.

And then I grab one piece of the sandwich to eat up as soon as I can because I'm going late for university I chew sandwich I mumbled "bye " to an aunt and I hurried towards the main door but aunt stopped me, 

"one minute, Lily" I stopped and drive back to face aunt, 

"Lily I understand you are wishing your parents today, but I can't fulfill that wish of your's, but I have a present surprise for you" she mumbled,

My eyes filled with happiness, present for me? Really aunt,

She whispers " here it is, 
She brought out her hand from the pocket of her apron.

And I notice there is one pendant, in the middle, it's having one blue color crystal, under that crystal some liquid solution is there.

And aunt says " your mom always wears this pendant, so, I bring this because I thought I give you, that when you started something new in your life, today is the perfect day to give you this, because from today your new journey begins in your life, now today is your great day for you, so... This is your gift"

My eyes filled with tears and I provide her hug, smile and accept this pendent I said "thank you, aunt, without you I'm nothing", I gave her comfortable hug and she squeezed me back 

Now I'm rushing to my university I take public transportation to university and finally, I arrived to "NYC mystic university", 

I recognize Aditi she's at the cafeteria and I take a seat beside her 

"hi Addie" I mumbled and she catches a glimpse of me and burst out with tears, and grabbed me in to hug

I'm totally shocked " what happened, Addie? Why are you crying? 

Now her eyes turned into a bloody red shot and I concerned her and she released me and I say "what happened, Addie, please Tell me I'm really tensed"

She sobbed and said " D...Derrick, he break up with me"

Why? He Breakup with you, is anything that happened between you and him? I asked with confusion.

She said " he says that he bored with me and now he's dating a model" and again burst out with tears,

I'm completely furious and mad because, how could he do this to my best friend I understand that he is bastard, playboy, jerk but I thought he gonna be changed for Addie, but I was wrong, 
I told Addie multiple times but she falls in love with her, now I want to punch him hard because he breaks my best friend's heart, 

"Aditi don't worry now I can deal with this all ok..., Now get up we are going to be late for our classes and I don't want you to destroy your future" I mumbled with concern, 

And she nodded and said" yeah! you are right, I never ever do this again, it's my fault that I fall in love with that stupid bastard "

Jungwoo woke up in the morning and he saw Soyeon sleeping beside him and he totally fell in love with her . He stared at Soyeon sleepy face for some minutes before he finally reached under the blanket only to see their naked bodies tangled together . 



He quickly close the blanket and stood up while he eyes scan around the room searching for his clothes . He moved closer to the clothes and picked them up . It took some minutes for him to put the clothes on and finally after wearing his clothes , He search for his phone in Soyeon's room but he can't find them so he tried to recall what happened last night and maybe he can remember where he kept his phone .


He remember that his phone was in his jacket and Soyeon took his jacket off in the living room so he decided to go there but there are three doors in the room and he didn't know which one will lead him to the living room so he just opened one and that door is too her dressing room and his widened when he saw how decorated and beautiful the room is .



He closed the door and open another one which lead to a passage , he  walked down the passage and on the stairs and saw his jacket on the floor . He picked up his jacket and removed his phone and he turned on the phone to check the time and it was already 9 am . 


He has some things to do before 9 am and he is already late so he just left Soyeon's house and he felt bad that he couldn't even tell her goodbye. 


Soyeon opened her eyes expecting to see Jungwoo beside her but she was wrong . She quickly stood up to check if Jungwoo is in the house but he was not there and he is already gone , She called out his name but there was no response.

She went back to her room and did her morning routine , She was feeling sad because Jungwoo didn't even think of waking her up and telling her goodbye before leaving  . Normally she is the one to dump guys but she didn't want to dump Jungwoo because she has feelings for him and she wants to get closer to him .


But she tried to shake it off because it wouldn't be first time she is being left alone . She is going for shopping today because her second year of college will start tomorrow and it is a new school so she wants to look different .

She wore a white hoodie and a black leggings and topping it off with a white sneakers and putting her hair up in a pony tail . She didn't apply any makeup since everything will be stressful anyway.

Soyeon got home from the mall where she did all her shopping and it was very stressful . Had she have known , she would have ordered the clothes but it worth it , she loves shopping and picking up clothes . 

It almost night and she is bored so she decided to watch a movie and eat pizza so she ordered some pizza and after some minutes , the pizza got delivered so she put on a horror movie because she loves horror movies and she doesn't get scared easily but she hates romance movies  , She thinks they are more scarier than horror movies . 

After two hours , the movie finished and she went up to her room and drifted in a deep slumber .

Soyeon woke up the next morning and she couldn't wait to get to school . Normally , she hates school and she just always want to sit home and drink alcohol but she is different now and she wondered what got into her all of a sudden but she couldn't figure out .
She got out to bed take a shower and do all her morning routine and it took her thirty minutes to pick up clothes that she is going to wear that day. 

"I've got to start picking clothes down in advance " she said to herself . She taught for her first day of her new school , she has to wear something attractive and not something too revealing or too boyish but a normal girl outfit.

She picked out a black ripped jeans , brown off the shoulder top with with strips and a white sneakers. 

She hopped into her red car and drove to her college . She parked her car and stood right at the middle of the school and exhale very deeply . She looked around and saw people walking by . 

She started walking and she can clearly hear people whispering about her beauty . She felt a little bit shy she she heard people saying that she is pretty . 

She was walking to the lecture room she her phone suddenly beeped . She has a phone message , She clicked on the message while still walking but her eyes was glued on the screen . The message was from her dad  " Me and your mother are coming home next week " . 

She  bumped into a lady and making the books in the lady's hands fell over . " am sorry " Soyeon apologized as she bend Down to help the lady pick her books . "it okay " The lady said in assurance . "Are you by any chance a psychological major?" the lady asked Soyeon "yes , i am new here " Soyeon replied as they walked together "I am Min Jihyo " the lady said " Soyeon " she replied .

Morning came sooner then later, I went about my routine after offering proper prayers to God, I'm no fan of churches but I believe God exists and he's the supreme being, I thankfully woke up early so I was able to eat a proper home cooked meal.

 The rest of the day went really well too, I had no problems as Mark, Tess and Matt was all absent, it was unsettling however but even the populars barely noticed and there wasn't really anything I could do so I held my peace.

 Three exact days after my banter with Mark, they –Mark, Tess and Matt still were all not present, I didn't know why but I couldn't shake the unpleasant feeling that something was wrong somewhere, so even if it was a herculean task, I asked the populars for their whereabouts, I mean Mark's and Tess', then I found out it was Mark's birthday week so the lovers were on a week's vacation to the popular city of love – Paris. Even at that, I still wasn't satisfied and that didn't actually explain the mysterious disappearance of Matt, as far as I could remember the Bookworm had a perfect attendance.

 Tuesday was when my worry was confirmed to be valid, all three of them were declared missing by the school management, Mark and Tess' parents only noticed they were gone yesterday and it turns out Matt is an orphan and the orphanage was obviously careless about his whereabouts until a family showed interest in his adoption, no one had a clue of where they could be, not even the populars. 

 The school's CCTV footage for the entire week was mysteriously wiped clean and the security guard on duty all week said they hadn't left the school compound, everyone was dumbstruck, even the teachers couldn't take a guess of what might have happened and the unusual part was that it disturbed me even more than I was willing to admit, why it was so was what I couldn't fathom.

Sure enough, the next day Eastwood high was more of a desert than a school, very few teachers and almost a nonexistent population of students were present, I could tell it was because of fear, no one knew what gobbled up two popular students and the Bookworm, they had probably all come to a conclusion that their disappearance had something to do with coming to Eastwood so they all stayed in the security of their respective homes.

 Cops were everywhere around and in the school building, they were trying their possible best to piece the puzzle together but there were very many unfounded pieces, pieces I might be able to help with, for example, only I knew Matt went to the library during lunch hour, only I knew Tess was also in the library at that time,it was only me that could tell that Mark probably went in after I told him off several days ago, I wanted to tell the cops that I might have figured out the link behind their disappearance, that maybe something or someone in the library was connected to their disappearance, but I wanted to get my facts proven first so I decided to go to the library – alone.

 The library's quietness was creepy, everything was just as it used to be, neat rows and rows of books stacked properly in the wooden shelves, reading desks were just as orderly as it used to, even the librarian's nude nail polish that had been there since I could remember hadn't moved an inch, I wandered all through the large empty space but not a thing was out of place except from the new stack of books at the rear end of the room.

 Those books however were kind of disorganized and out of place, I carefully looked around it for anything that could be a clue, 

Nothing.

I sighed in resignation and made to leave the room when I noticed a bright book cover strangely hanging out of the remaining books on the top shelve by my right, out of curiosity, I picked the book and checked the cover for the title,

The mystery.

It had the picture of a glowing golden mansion drawn very beautifully over the cover, however the author's name wasn't indicated. I turned the book over instinctively to check what the story is about and surprisingly, very few words were written as the synopsis.

It was strange, no author, no publisher, nothing. I opened the first page of the book, THE MYSTERY was boldly written on it, the next page had the table of contents, it only had fifteen chapters outlined on it;

My heart skipped a beat when I read my own name on the fifth chapter, maybe it was just a coincidence? I went on to read the rest of the chapter content, the book can't actually be based on lives of random people right?

7. Fit in the missing pages to their appropriate books.

8. Obtain the treasure box.

9. Change the course of history.

10. Tame the lions.

11. Get the yacht to the shore.

Of all novels I've ever read, both electronic and paperback, this novel is sure the most unusual. I mean, who publishes a book without her name being indicated, no dedication, ten worded synopsis, unusual and unrelated chapter names? It was really strange but I couldn't put the book down, so I ignored all the warning alarms blaring in my head, went over to a study desk and opened the next page of the mysterious book –The mystery.

 

All is not what it seems," I whispered with my fingers crossed and everything changed, literally everything....

Have you ever wondered if there is a world of imaginations and imaginary friends and characters?, well here's a spoiler; there is and it's up to Joanna Coopers to get sucked into it so she can rescue her friends/enemies and by rescue, it means living through and maybe changing details of a number of novels to unravel a very unusual mystery.

She didn't expect to be invited to the penthouse so soon. Claire was just as surprised as Debbie was when she received a call from Mr Wilde telling her to prepare the study for a guest. The head maid didn't question anything and did as she was instructed. She was also curious as to why the CEO wanted to know Scarlet's schedule. The kids were going to survey the various clubs and extracurricular activities today, so Claire was miffed when Mr Wilde told her to arrange for someone to pick Scarlet up after school in a car. Wasn't she supposed to take public transportation?
Jasper and Alex weren't too bothered with the special treatment Scarlet got. In fact, they looked genuinely happy for her when they heard someone coming to get her in a car.
"You should go home and rest, standing and walking too long isn't good for your leg."
Alex agreed and felt guilty seeing the cast on Scarlet's leg even though they made up. She wanted to help Scarlet carry her bag and reduce the burden, but even her own backpack was too heavy for her to handle. The Wilde princess didn't know what she could do for Scarlet except to walk beside her, but Scarlet was faster than she was. She'd never felt so useless before. When she heard that someone was coming to get her sister, Alex was overjoyed. At least Scarlet didn't need to put up with her pathetic speed now.
Scarlet didn't question it and followed the driver when he arrived. Claire didn't provide her with any more details, so the blogger was left to speculate what could have happened all alone in the car that seemed too big all of a sudden.
With nobody around, her thoughts drifted off to the darker side. Could it be that she'd done something wrong unknowingly and Mr Wilde called her back alone to scold her?
While the blogger was bashing herself mentally, Debbie was admiring the tasteful tapestries and sipping on Darjeeling tea. Wilmer decided to take some time and dress down so he would be more comfortable for the long discussion that was about to take place. There was just something about Debbie that clicked, and he just had a feeling that the girl would come to like Ms Connor too.
"Scarlet was once a Liu, but her parents were those in the middle class trying to make it rich. It was a marriage of partnership more than love and Scarlet was born from necessity. Before my wife met her, Scarlet was just like an expressionless doll and did things perfectly as expected from her. We wanted to raise her as our ward because she possesses an incredible talent that could become one of Alex's strongest pillars within her inner circle of friends when she becomes the Wilde heiress. However, when we tried to negotiate with the Liu's, they promptly sold their daughter to us for a blank cheque. It was at that point that my wife decided to adopt Scarlet legally instead of grooming her to become Alex's pillar."
"They sold her for money... Are they really her biological parents? How can such monsters exist!? The poor child..."
Wilmer sighed and nodded. "My wife and daughter tried everything they could, but the trauma and damage were already done. We don't want to resort to calling for a psychologist, but if the situation gets worse, we might have to. I do hope that we do not need to resort to such an option with your influence in Scarlet's life as a governess. I'll say I'm pleasantly surprised by how well I think you'd do well for the governess position. The focus should be more on Scarlet, but I hope you can help all three of my children grow, even if one of them isn't my legal child."
Debbie smiled. "I'm not very confident about playing the faux therapist here, but I will do my best. I am interested to meet all the children, but I would like to know to know more about the dedication of this job. As you might have heard, I am recently married and am living with my husband in Singapore. I understand that governesses are usually required to live with their employers much like the maids and butlers under your employment. However, I would like to request a more formal position, like a tutor, who can travel over for classes and return after the lesson is over..."
Wilmer thought about it. "I have no reason to object to such an arrangement. I also understand that you're busy with your freelance career as an editor, so I wouldn't want to take up too much of your time. Alex and Jasper will be having extracurricular activities after lessons and they will be interning at my company for two days a week. Once Claire has a better grasp on their schedules, we can discuss the arrangements again."
Just as their discussion came to an end, there was a knock on the door. Claire bowed as she entered and announced that Scarlet was home and was currently settling down in her room.
Wilmer shared a look with Debbie and told the maid to bring Scarlet to the study when she was ready. The two then proceeded to chat about less important matters as Claire excused herself.
When Scarlet heard that Mr Wilde wanted to see her, she quickly changed out of the uniform and combed through her messy hair. Once she was ready, Claire escorted her and knocked on the door before ushering the blogger in. She was clearly not expecting another person to be in the room, because the blogger froze up when she saw the unfamiliar lady.
To ease the tension, Wilmer smiled and told Scarlet to have a seat before asking about her day. Debbie noticed how upright Scarlet was sitting. Her ramrod spine and professional answers made the ex-lawyer raise her brow. She could understand a little more about what the CEO meant by behaving perfectly. She must have gone through a very harsh education to be able to carry herself with such prim and proper conduct.
Wilmer pouted. Scarlet wasn't easing up, so he mustered his most pitiful voice and asked childishly. "When are you going to call me daddy?"
The girl stiffened and Debbie giggled at the father and daughter interaction. 
Scarlet deadpanned. "Not even Alex calls you daddy."
Wilmer mocked horror and pretended to weep. Debbie couldn't contain her laughter and Scarlet seemed to ease up a little at that. With the ice broken, the ex-lawyer introduced herself as a friend of Benjamin's.
"You know Benjamin?"
"Yes," Debbie nodded. "We studied in the same institute before. However, I left my law career behind and am now helping budding writers publish their books. I'm a freelance editor!"
At the mention of 'editor', Scarlet's eyes lit up and she snapped back to Mr Wilde.
"She's an editor!"
Mr Wilde nodded slowly. "I know."
"But she's an editor... She helps make books!"
The Ceo was amused and nodded slowly again. "I've heard."
"I write books!" Scarlet was almost bouncing in her seat, much to the amusement of the adults present.
"And...?" Wilmer pretended not to get the inference.
Exasperated and mentally debating if she should shamelessly request for Debbie to teach her how to write books or be polite and let the chance fly by, the better choice was obvious to her.
"Daddy, can I please learn from Ms Connor? It doesn't have to be very often, just once in a while over tea is good too... I... I've actually started writing one secretly from Alex and Jasper, but I don't know if it is any good..."
Wilmer couldn't stop the smile from infecting his mood. It spread from his face to his entire personality, and the CEO pointed at Debbie.
"You're hired."

I walk through my dreams like I've lived a whole life there, most times they are about a recent book I read. That is one of the things I do a lot and I'm not just saying that I really do read almost all day long. If I'm not reading I am probably watching some movie or anime series, yes you can probably guess I haven't done much with my life. let's start where it all began.

Back in middle school I loved to read books so much so that when I was grounded they took away my books instead of saying I couldn't go out with friends or no tv/games. yes I was a pretty strange kid compared to some being a 12 year old in America at the time(2012 No less). when I was grounded my next best thing was video games because they told stories as well at the time my video game collection was pretty sparce using an old dell business computer that ran windows xp (let's just say I got really good at minesweeper). even before I found books video games were still present. I still remember my mom gifting me an original Xbox she won in a contest it came with one game and it was a racing game not a lot of story just races.

After a while of getting in trouble I got grounded while i was grounded so I lost games as well suffice to say my box of legos was not very entertaining for a 12 year old mainly because I didn't like to make things up myself it felt so tedious that I had to work so hard to make up shapes and other things people already. i also didn't have many friends so instead I slept, and I slept hard. I don't remember much of my dreams then but I do remember one that was about magic and there was a really dark forest that went on forever in a sea of trees, other than that though I don't remember.
A couple of months later I was officially free and it felt like freedom I got to read again, it was so much fun, I would imagine it being like a drowning mans next breath of air. I didn't goto sleep that night instead I stayed up reading, when morning came I was tired but the book just got to THAT PART that is just so interesting and catching you can't stop, i read through that day as well. after dinner I got so tired I slept couldn't keep reading.
the next morning felt so sluggish like the morning after you get drunk but not enough for a hangover. well after a week of being late for school because I was busy reading parents up an sold all my books. ALL of them like really I was almost done reading them! I never read another book until after basic training 4 or 5 years later.
things changed after I lost my collection I switched to video games and because they didn't want me up all night reading whenever Christmas came around it was games instead of books. birthday? video game. my dad was an avid gamer always tried to keep his pc updated and sent old games I could run on my pc to me. me and my dad were always great at games but I could never compete with him, and it totally didn't have to do with me playing the games for the stories instead of for the high scores(of you can't tell this sentence is sarcasm read this again).

flash forward to the start of high school I was big on video games by then my computer had upgraded to a brand new one from my birthday me and my dad built it together good memories there. I remember when i tried to play morrowwind on it. that was when I realised I didn't like challenging games i liked to play and get the story, maybe different endings (those were my favorite).

at the start of high school I didn't really have a lot of friends because I didn't have many in middle school. my dad recommended me to join the ROTC there, he said he did and he had fun when he was in high school. So I did and the first year was fun and it started with ROTC especially when I started competing. I had so much fun I spent 14 hours of day at school I woke up at 5 to get to practice went to school than got home around 7 after the other practice you can imagine I didn't have a lot of time for video games especially because all that practice was physally demanding. 

1 year later 2 year in high school this I would consider the real start of high school for you actually have to do something to pass your classes I met a girl in my math class (insert joke about about girls causing problems in highschool here [ps: this is the joke I'm not sexist]). We started talking about a lot of things our school football team things like that, than we got to books she loved to read book I got to see her library once well less of a library and more of a whole wall of books and all books I wanted to read. her name was Alex I had the biggest crush on her at one point than found out she was lesbian so we kinda grew apart shallow I know but it's high school things like this happen. anyways after seeing those books some of them I used to read myself I started to want to read again, but I had no books i was still forbidden to read so I put my frustration put on video games during this time I was playing a lot of modern warfare 2 I loved the story and the way it flowed but it was really the first game I really played on steam I have logged over 500 hours  on that game alone I got every achievement for single player even the ones for veteran difficulties and also got most for the multiplayer which at this point I had everything unlocked and was max level I loved the multi player.

at this point I was starting to show up late sometimes to practice because I wasn't sleeping early enough. I went one more year like that and over summer I played so many video  games I swear I dreamt about sheaperd in mw2 around this time skyrim came out and I played the heck out of it  (I didn't get as many hours of playtime because 3rd year of high school is the hardest around 200hours). 3rd year rolls around I've dropped out of all practices because it was all boring again nothing new same old stuff. I was still busy keeping my grades up especially that foreign language credit that is needed to graduate.

4th year felt like being a freshman again except youre the one who makes fun of the freshmen.

nothing important happened then so I graduated and I wanted adventure something new so I went and joined the US Airforce. If I knew what I knew about it than I would have waited unroll now to join. long story short my addiction to video games got the better of me some nights during training and I ended up sleeping in, combined with my selective forgetfulness  (I kid you not I forgot my boots one time). luckily I wasn't in that long so I got an entry level discharge (look it up if you don't know) after I got back I found books to read online and read I did but because I didn't have school and at the time no work to deal with

this is about the time where I realised something special about my dreams.

at one point in high school I played a game where you create your own games and other people play them but this wasn't like legos using only blocks this was a program and once they started to abandon the Lego building style I started to learn it you could import meshes from other programs like blender so I started learning how to use it during this time I started dreaming up wire frames i wanted to tell a story using this game a story without words. I spent a long time on this and I can say to this day that I am self taught at how to use blender and that I ended up really famous on that game for my builds

that was the first clue because I was spending so long learning how to use blender I started dreaming up wire frames or if I was having a really hard time with a specific thing I would dream how it looked and be able to re create it the next day.

now after my attempt at trying to get a stable job i went back to reading. It started out with books i had already read then spread and spread till I found whole websites filled with books to read some exciting some not and they all had one HUGE thing in common they were all fiction and that's what I like. the wilder the better.

one day I met a girl and we planned on getting married and we had a kid a beautiful daughter we named Angela love her so much. I don't know what happened after we came out of the hospital after she gave birth she said she was through with me and left. that hurt a lot so I went back to reading and read I did the stories around this time were mainly reincarnation stories in another world I swear I had a dream at one point i was reincarnated into alegasea  (if you don't know you haven't lived).

this is where I realised my dreams make for the best stories and I tried to write a story about a specific dream once or twice. It never turned out well. Now I'm in college for networking taking a Cisco class (super boring) so my dreams are extra vivid further making me want to write those stories out but they never seem to tell the story how I want then to but right now this one is working does this count as 4th wall break? (lol couldn't resist the humor there [and don't say it was bad because you thought it was funny at some point deep deeeep down you just don't know it])

a story about a man and his dreams that might mean he is insane or might just love books too much. don't listen to the voices in your head about this one because the pink platypusbear that sleeps like a bat doesn't like your drugs.

The first thing Daniel thought when he met the line up of the Mystery Club was that the club had to be really unpopular this year. The club normally met after school, but Oliver had called all the members to the meeting room right after he and Felix had agreed to join so they could all meet each other.

Sitting at the head of the table was Oliver, a brown haired boy called Harry was on his right, there was another teenager called Amien on his left and the only female was a redhead called Meredith who seemed to have a thing for Oliver. That meant there were only four members before he and Felix had agreed to become members. Daniel had got the impression from the talk given by the head of sixth form that the clubs were all quite large. This one definitely didn't seem to match that impression.

"Is this everyone?" Daniel asked.

Oliver coughed awkwardly. "Yes it is. Harry is the accountant and Meredith is the secretary. Amien is the former leader- final year students have to step down from club leadership."

"We don't even have any students from the school this year," Harry added with a groan and Daniel was able to work out that Harry was Welsh from his accent.

"I maintain my theory that everyone who was interested in joining saw Harry and ran away," Amien commented dryly.

Daniel frowned. Amien should have been a pupil at Kingston Royal Academy, he was stuck up enough to belong there. He even looked the part with his very straight posture and slicked back blond hair.

Oliver coughed again. "That's why we are going to lure people back by solving the Seven Mysteries. It will do wonders for our reputation as an obscure club."

Daniel thought it would be best to ask a certain question now rather than look like an idiot later on. Oliver had termed it like they all should know what the Seven Mysteries were.

"What are the 'Seven Mysteries'?"

It was Amien who answered his question in a concise manner.

"The Seven Mysteries are a part of most schools in Japan. They are seven separate mysteries connected to the school. What is important is that they are horror based unsolved mysteries."

The basis in horror explained why he had never heard of the concept. Daniel didn't have the fascination with horror that lots of people seemed to have.

Oliver continued on. "They're usually generic stories. Mysteriously moving anatomy models, moving staircases and things like that. Each school has their own take on it, but they're normally quite similar."

Daniel waited for further information. If they were as generic and fake sounding as that, why were they bothering to investigate? Should he even bother filling in the form that would formalise his membership? 

"This school has a very unique Seven Mysteries which is why we want to investigate them. There is a chance they might have a grain of truth," Meredith added.

"What are the Seven Mysteries that are unique to this school?" Felix asked.

Oliver held up a finger and began to tick them off.

"First is the blood filled well, second is the cherry blossom tree which sucked the blood of the dead body buried underneath, next is the self playing piano in the music room, the twelve steps that became thirteen steps, the body hanging from the statue, the bloody face at the window and finally the electrocuting light in the science lab," he narrated in a dramatic manner with wide eyes.

Daniel stared at him. Oliver looked like he really was enjoying himself.

"I see," was all he could say.

This territory was unfamiliar to him. He really needed to become acquainted with the horror genre. Felix on the other hand looked highly interested. He had noticed from the books in Felix's bedroom that he was fond of horror.

"They are certainly unique here, but all you have done is to find out what they are," Amien observed critically. "How are we supposed to investigate them with that scant amount of information?"

Oliver's eyes moistened and he frowned. Harry patted him on the arm and stepped in. Daniel had the feeling that Amien was not the most popular member of the club.

"Why don't you suggest how we investigate then?" Harry snapped.

"Why don't you ask the new members of the club?" Amien was unperturbed by the question.
"Remember how useless Oliver's previous recruit was?"

The four of them turned to face Daniel and Felix with inquisitive eyes. Daniel thought about it analytically. The Seven Mysteries sounded like a game of Chinese Whispers- the information became different when it was passed from person to person. He had never heard such a series of unlikely things said together. It sounded like a mess of information and could be a loose interpretation instead of the original mysteries.

"You need to find out when each of them first started or what they originally were. The current mysteries may not even be the original seven."

Meredith started taking notes frantically and even Amien was beginning to look impressed. Felix gave him a thumbs up.

"Any more ideas?" Amien asked.

Felix was the next one to speak up.

"If the Seven Mysteries are such an essential part of Japanese schools and the Mystery Club has been going for a while, why has the club never investigated them before?"

"That is a very good point," Amien conceded and readjusted his glasses. "The club has been going for twenty years by the way. I admit to not considering that before."

Felix looked decidedly smug. Daniel raised an eyebrow. He was enjoying seeing Felix in action.

"Actually I found something when I was organising the cupboard after the last meeting," Meredith announced. "The Seven Mysteries were investigated six years ago in 2013."

"I've checked the yearbook for that year and there's no record of that. How do you know that?" Oliver wanted to know. 

"I have the minutes of a meeting from that year," she explained and drew an extremely crumpled and discoloured sheet of paper out her notebook. "It was wedged in the panelling at the back of the cupboard and was hidden by the old club diaries."

She smoothed it out and placed it in the centre of the table so they could all have a look. The paper was titled 'Mysteries of the School Meeting- Role Allocation' in neat handwriting alongside the date which was March 2013.

"Interesting," Daniel commented. "Is there anything else?"

Meredith got off her chair and started rummaging around in the cupboard. She pulled out a slim black book with 2013 stenciled on the cover in gold and the thicker 2014 equivalent.

"This is the 2013 yearbook. It's very thin like they did nothing that year, despite what we have evidence of. There's no mention of the Seven Mysteries. There's also something else."

She opened it up on a certain page and then showed them the 2014 yearbook.

"The club photo and member list are missing in the 2013 one, but they are in the 2012 one as well as the 2014 one."

Daniel compared them. There was a tear mark in the 2013 one where a page had been whereas the 2014 had a club photo in the equivalent position and no tear mark. Meredith was definitely right about something being strange.

"...I was here in 2013, unlike the rest of you. I was in the first year so I couldn't join any clubs," Amien began with obvious hesitation. "There were some rumours about a missing student. I think he was supposed to be a member of the Mystery Club."

Daniel and Felix exchanged looks. It seemed like there was a real mystery at the school.

Daniel thinks he has it hard going through school again at a snobby all boys academy in the middle of nowhere.

Instead his first day ends with his roommate bleeding out into the snow right in front of him.

His boring second life just got interesting and dangerous.

Zhai Sheng appeared to be dejected when he thought of that.
"It was quite good. I guess the results will be coming out in a few days." This time, Qiao Nan walked automatically out of habit to the seat beside Zhai Sheng and sat down. There was no need for Zhai Sheng to motion her over.
"You seem to be pretty confident. Where did you get these books?" Zhai Sheng looked at the foreign language books on the desk.
"My deskmate gave it to me." Zhai Sheng held an English book which Zhu Baoguo gave her in his hands. "Since I am free this summer break, it would be good to do some reading. When I go to high school, I would still need to take English as a subject after all."
"Do you like English?"
"It is okay." In her previous life, she managed to earn a fair amount of extra income with her proficiency in English. It could be out of habit that she had the love and will to do well for English.
"You can read those books as well." Zhai Sheng had flipped through the foreign language books that Qiao Nan had. It was covered with detailed notes. It looked like she put in a lot of efforts in them.
Qiao Nan's English proficiency level was way higher than the standard of a junior high school student. In fact, she had the talent in foreign languages.
Therefore, Zhai Sheng picked some books from his study room that were suitable for Qiao Nan and brought them over today.
"These books… Are they for me?" Qiao Nan's eyes lit up. She took the books in excitement and started to look through them. She realized that these books were suitable for her standard.
Qiao Nan had already read through most of the books Zhu Baoguo gave her and was fussing over what she was going to do for the rest of the summer break.
"Thank you, Brother Zhai!"
"Use them well." Qiao Nan's eyes sparkled with excitement, shining brightly like the stars in the night. Zhai Sheng turned awkwardly to avoid eye contact with her.
With that, Qiao Nan started to pore over the books.
Whenever Qiao Nan was into her books, she would be so focused to the point of being oblivious to her surroundings. She forgot all about Zhai Sheng who was beside her and failed to notice his occasional glances.
By the time Qiao Nan went back home, Zhai Sheng still did not ask the burning question he had had with him all this while.
"Maybe she has thrown it away."
He remembered that he gave Qiao Nan a slip of paper half a year ago but never received a single phone call from her in the past half year.
"Dad, Mom, Sister." The three of them were already back by the time Qiao Nan reached home.
"Your sister just had her exams. She finally had her school break; the two of you could have a good chat." Qiao Dongliang was in a good mood today because his two daughters had finished their exams, and they were all back at home.
"Nan Nan, this is an expensive book. Where did you get it from?" Qiao Zijin had sharp eyes. She did not hear what the conversation was about, but she spotted the book in Qiao Nan's hands.
Without getting her consent, Qiao Zijin grabbed the book to read. "Published overseas… Where did you get the money to buy such books?!"
"Return it to me!" Qiao Nan pulled a long face and snatched her book back like a young leopard cub who would not take no for an answer. "You can put your heart to rest. Dad did not give me so much money, and I did not buy this book. Someone lent it to me. If you tear the book, we could not afford to compensate for the loss!"
Qiao Nan went straight to her room afterward.
"Dad, look at Nan Nan's attitude!" Qiao Zijin stomped her feet. If she could bring the book to school next semester, she would be the envy of all other students. Qiao Nan was too stingy. She did not want the book for herself; she only wanted to borrow it. There was no need to be so tensed up.
"Is that book really very expensive?" Qiao Dongliang was more worried about the book.
"If I am not wrong, it is priced in US dollars, not Chinese currency renminbi. It must be very expensive."
"So expensive?" Ding Jiayi was shocked. "Old Qiao, you had better tell Qiao Nan to return the book. She should know that we do not have the money to compensate for the loss so how could she have the guts to bring the book home? Something must be wrong with her. Qiao Zijin was annoyed at the fact that Qiao Dongliang would always side with Qiao Nan. "Mom, did Qiao Nan say how she did for her middle school exams? Can she go to The High School Affiliated to Renmin University of China?"
"I am not too sure." Ding Jiayi twitched the corner of her lips. "It seems like she did not flunk her exams. If not, she would not behave this way. She acted her usual ways; it shows that she performed well."
"…" Qiao Zijin was displeased. "Mom, are you really going to allow her to advance to high school? Didn't you say—"
"Shh, don't talk nonsense." Ding Jiayi covered Qiao Zijin's mouth. "Don't speak of a word to anyone, especially your dad, about what I said last time. It was just a joke. I gave birth to Qiao Nan. Why would I do that? Besides, she has given her word. If her results are good, she would go to The High School Affiliated to Renmin University of China; if her results are not as good, we would not spend a single cent on her for such a purpose."
Previously, she had said that she would think of ways to make sure Qiao Nan could not sit for the middle school exams. But she had been too angry then and only said those words out of anger.
After that Ding Jiayi had reconciled with Qiao Dongliang and her temper gone, she also could not remember her words said in a moment of anger.

Mrs grim was very confused on why her husband collapse onto the ground, she stood there motionless her eyes flew across the room trying to find what caused her husband to collapse on the floor. she glanced back at her husband who was lying on the floor but unlike before there was blood oozing from him her face disfigured in horror as she realized what happened.

"Azrael why," she asks her son who was covered in blood who did not respond.

she opens her mouth to ask why again but before word came out she felt a blade slice through her neck she tried to stop herself from bleeding out by covering her the gash on her throat. her hand did stop the bleeding but it caused the other problem she started to drown in her blood. the last thing she saw was the emotionless eyes of her son. Before she collapsed on the floor if you looked closely you could notice a single tear slide down her face.

In his second year of service world war 3 started.war broke out   between  every country  it didn't matter big or small  all countries participated on some scale in this war this is where he and his fire team truly shined and it was where they became legend as the reaper of the battlefield and the reaper envoys,Azrael retired after the war with over  ten thousand confirmed kills and moved to Canada  where he went into hiding  with a new name jeff smith for he knew he his life was being targeted by many people.

he became addicted to every type of entertainment, books, movies, manga, videogames if you could name it he was a big fan of it. 1 year into his hiding he caught  a weird disease when e was watching the fate stay series and admiring how hot that Scáthach  was( A/N you all know its true) which caused him to started feeling weaker even thore he did the one punch man training without the 10 km because going outside wasn't a good idea when hiding you were  from world powers he still couldn't gain muscle but instead lossed muscle. the disease didn't show great effect on his health until one year after he gained it.

it was the middle of 2019 when he first discovered  webnovel.com. he really liked the anime fanfics the only thing he hated was the fucking harem seeking protag who got a new girl every chapter like what is this bullshit he thought.he could feel his health declining he knew he didn't have much time left so he got the idea from all those fanfics about saving a little kid from truck Kun and dieing.
he started to wait near cross works like a weirdo every single day, and like that 6 months passed and it was December 30, government officials started to ask him to join their army around  the beginning of the month with this and his declining health he knew he had little time .when he was as about to go home for the night he saw the moment he was waiting for a little girl was crossing the street with a truck about to run her over,he knew this was the chance he was waiting for  he got up and started sprinting towards her as fast as his weak body would  let  him, pushing the girl out of the way at the last second he  felt his bones cracking unlike most other people in this situation his life did not flash before his eyes  because he didn't enjoy most of it anyways.the last action he did in life was fiving the biggest thumbs up the world has ever seen.

Once upon a week ago, I was a normal guy just trying to get some extra cash for my rent delivering pizza's I had no beef with anyone, I minded my own business and tried to get along with everybody and now I am in an alternate dimension being hunted down by a beast!

I'm also pretty sure this place is hell...how can I be so sure? 

Well, there was fire raining down from the red sky, it smells like old man farts and there are a lot and I mean A LOT of screaming souls, heck even the roads are lined with bones and skulls that screeched and whispered like those stupid ghosts you saw in kids cartoons when you walked past,

"Please...help...me..." one said.

"No..more...spare...me...." another begged.

"Expect ...light showers of brimstone in the afternoon..." the last one said in a voice that left a lot to be desired, it sounded like nails scratching a board while to cats did the nasty in the middle of a death metal bands sound check.

"Thanks, I guess?" 

"You're welcome, may hells light be merciful to your damned soul..."

"Okay..."

I gave the skull a thumbs up and kept walking as fast as I could.

So yeah, I'm pretty sure I am in hell.

It straight up looks like the godfather of all cow life forms, it's so damn ugly with its yellow eyes hulking horns and furry biceps.

Thankfully it was so massive each step it took sounded like a sledgehammer smashing the ground so I could successfully hide whenever I heard the thunderous hoof steps.

Besides I had read enough of my little sisters twisted books to know what demons usually did with human slaves... so no thank you I'd rather not be caught I'll jump in a lava pool before that happens!

Though he'd probably eat my flame roasted body afterwards so I'd be doing the cow a favour...he will probably never have such a well-cooked meal again...speaking of which I am rather hungry but the triple meat deluxe extra large pizza I was sent here with had long been lost after I threw it at the Minotaur to buy myself some time to flee!

It was a noble sacrifice, but man cannot live on sheer fear and adrenaline alone, he needs sustenance and maybe some water.

Turning a corner I saw some stairs and since I was trying to get to low ground (better for hiding) I decided to take them.

In the near future, I would realize I was the architect of my own downfall.

Making it down the stairs I found myself in an incredibly cute garden though there seemed to have been a fire recently the ground near the metal platform was charred into black coal, on the platform were three eggs one blue one violet and the last one purple... I think?

They were massive eggs, enough to feed a family for three weeks but though my stomach screamed for me to make an omelette the problem was, eggs that size probably had a big mama, who would make short work of the fool who tried to steal her eggs.

I am no idiot a nest is no place to be when you're trying to survive a horror movie, I had watched enough Dwayne the rock Johnson movies to know that the best course of action was to climb back up those stairs and take my chances with the minotaur, literally take the bull by the horns.

and so with the dignity and poise of a starving man trying to escape a potential death trap I  hobbled back up the steps only to meet with the most terrifying thing I had ever seen.
 
Empty eye sockets glowed green in an angry fire as the rage of a scorned woman burned hotter than the fires of well...hell.
