It was a sunny day in the city of Asten in the east of the Ashul Empire. The streets were bustling with activities as a sea of people was moving back and forth each person towards his destination. Some people could be seen going in some buildings on the side of the road while some people were coming out from them. Men and women, late teens, middle aged and old, tall and short, wide and slim could be seen in this lively city. Tall buildings and towers could be seen everywhere. This is Asten, one of the Ashul Empire biggest and richest cities. There are over ten millions of people living in this city of about fifty thousand kilometers square. This city holds the headquarters of three of the continent's biggest academies namely the Rainbow Academy which has existed since the founding of the Ashul Empire at the East, the Green World Academy which mainly accepts females at the West and the most prestigious and most recent of the lot, the Ashul Military Academy which has groomed countless experts in both the martial and medical areas in the North. Besides these three academies exist some smaller academies which are not to be neglected like the Asten Institute of Science and the School of Engineering.

 Rainbow Academy,
The Rainbow Academy is one of the most ancient schools in the Alandria Continent. It is said that it already existed before the great beast tide a few thousand years ago when mankind was for the first time confronted to the mutated beast. That battle shook the continent and mankind lost more than half of its population during that war. At the time, the Rainbow Academy was one of the first academies to find ways to fight mutated beast. They found that just as the beasts had evolved, thus had mankind. That's how martial arts which had been relegated to mere sports regained its long lost prestige. Alongside the martial arts, mankind discovered the way to make magic weapons, miracle medicines and mystic music. After decades of battle, both the human and the mutated beast which had already become demonic beasts made a truce. And the Rainbow academy was one of the main forces of mankind during that era which is why even after the years, even though the academy is dying, no one dares to offend its teachers and students as long as they are part of it.
Although the Rainbow Academy isn't what it used to be, one could still see by its sceneries its prestige. The surface occupied by the Rainbow Academy is as big as a city in one of those smaller countries thousands of years ago. Its gate was enormous with the words 'RAINBOW ACADEMY' cared on it in gold. Its roads were really broad, about forty meters wide. On the side of the road stood tall and large buildings. But if looked from above, one would find out that the grounds of the academy were full of trees and grasses.
In classroom in the Rainbow Academy, middle aged man was doing the raw call after ending his lesson.

"He is not in class sir" said a girl who is 13-14 years old with a black silver hair in a pigtail cut. She has a small and pretty face and her figure denoted and unveiled growth potential.
"where has he gone to again?" asked the teacher.
"Don't know. Probably the library" replied the girl looking at an empty seat beside her.
"That guy, if he has such time to spend in the library eh should focus on his training. With his potential I don't believe that he would still be at the Martial Disciple 9thlevel after four years…" said the teacher disappointingly. 
The man in question was actually busy reading a book. He was so focused that someone could easily come and still his purse on the table that he would not realize. On the tables and the floor around him were totally full of books, each thicker than the others. There was actually ten of such books on the floor and one could see that they had just been read by someone.
At that time, a group of students that was passing by noticed the engrossed Raphael a few steps away. Seeing how focused he was and the pile of books by his side, they were stunned. One of the students asked "Who is that guy? What a poser"
"yep! A real poser!" Replied one of his mates.
"is it a new way to hit on girls?" added another one.
"Silence! This is a Library!" asked a cold voice from behind them.
When the guys turned around to see who was asking, they were stunned. The one appearing behind them was a beautiful woman. She was brown skinned young woman seemingly in her late teens. She had black hair that rested in her slender shoulders. On her curvaceous body she was wearing a black female suit with high-heels shoes. The lot put together with her icy cold air on her face made her seems simply enchanting; if not for the plate of meals she was caring. Behind her were five other students, three boys and two girls holding a few dishes.
"Miss Michelle" said the students almost at the same time when they identified who the person was.
Michelle Aiden, the granddaughter of the Rainbow Academy's Dean Gordon Park, and a great genius. She is ranked in the top 10 experts below 30 in the Ashul Empire with a cultivation base at the 2ndlevel of the Martial Prince
Without a word she walked pass them followed by her crew. One of the boys behind her said while walking pass the crowd: "He is Raphael Lance" 
Hearing the name, all the students thought about someone. A legend which had shaken the whole city to the point that to everybody it was a myth: The Legendary bookworm. 
The group was shocked. They have heard about this legendary figure in the academy, just that they never believed those rumors to be true. 
Raphael Lance, a boy with the abilities to become a peerless genius in the martial way as he was born with great physical abilities and talent for the martial arts. It is said that when he was brought over by the Dean from the Dark demon Forest, he was seven years old and level 9 Martial Disciple already with a great battle power able of fighting opponents two-three levels higher than him. One has to know that most people only started training in the martial way at eight. While Raphael at that time was merely seven years old, yet had already trained to the peak of the first realm.  Although in the greater empires they wasn't a lack of geniuses who had cultivated to the peak of the Martial Disciple in a little bit more than a year, those geniuses usually came from those big families and were thus trained with the best resources, in the best environment by the best teachers. 
Compared to them, Raphael was definitely a commoner, at least before he was adopted by the Rainbow Academy's dean Gordon. But even then his talent was such that even with all those advantages, all those young geniuses from the great families were inferior to him at the same level. What was more shocking was that he had beat the crap out of a second layer Martial Master who had trained in high mortal grade martial arts in just three moves without any martial art.  
 But he became so engrossed in books that he forgot his training for four years. At the beginning the Dean thought that he was merely fooling around so he decided to probe him. Result, the Dean was scared off by the guy's deep theoretical foundation and exempted him from taking part in classes. He is such a bookworm that he often enters the library only to leave a few months later to go out to the forest for a month or two before going back straight to the library.
Now, it is said that only the Dean, Vice-Deans and some elders in the academy can match him in theoretical knowledge. Of course he still can't compare to the teachers because of his lack of experience. Rumour has it that he has already read hundreds if not thousands of books. All these had brought him the nickname 'Legendary Bookworm'.
A few meters away from them, Michelle was putting the plate on the table next to Raphael, who didn't seem to notice her. She stood for a while, looking at the young boy who was focused on the thick book opened before him. She then started collecting the books he had already read and put them back each in its place.

One day while he was playing in the woods, his spirit fused with a part of the Heaven's Library which holds the records of every single events that happened since the birth of the creation of the universe. Well, il held as it was destroyed during a war between angels and demons. The library fused in the form of a system which allows the already greatly talented to have deeper and better trainings. The only catch is that while other people have bottlenecks due to talent, ressources, or weak foundations, Raphael's "bottlenecks" are due to lack of knowledge.

Charlotte stood completely still after she watched what Zuhn had just done.

Zuhn walked out of the house and returned to the streets. His body was covered in blood. Scar and Charlotte both stood inside, both of them didn't know what to do.

In front of the two, they saw a monster brutality kill two powerful Silver Ranked people. Even if Charlotte's whole branch in the region went against the two, they wouldn't kill them.

Both Scar and Charlotte begin to kill up while Zuhn was wondering the streets.

In the streets, the people of Hencewood were getting ready to welcome the sect of the region. The sects name was "Windwood" they were a pretty well-known sect around the region. 

The Windwood sect was on the more powerful side of the region. They weren't the best but they weren't the worst either. Students from all over the town were training and getting ready for the annual fighting competition. 

The rules of the competition were the people participating at to be under 17 teen years old. The young master and also some promising teens in the area were all looking forward to the competition.

The talk about Zuhn disappeared from the town. Everyone was too focused on the fight that was coming up.

Many people knew if the sect found a good student in the competition they were invited them to try and join their sect. If someone was really good they were instantly accepted as an outer-disciple. 

Besides the Windwood Sect, there was the Dark Star and Overwhelming Wind. These three sects were the main powers in the region. The sects were ranked on how many experts they possessed. For example, Dark Star was ranked a 1-star sect. 

1 Star sects were the average in the region, while Overwhelming was a 1.5 star. Windwood was a solid 2-star sect. Two-star sects were rare, but once you got farther inland two-star sects were common.

Not a lot of people have left the Ziom continued, so people don't really know what lays outside of it. 

The competition was starting the next day, everything was up. Because the three main sects were coming into town. There were more guards, the security was extremely tight.

The guards were all around Bronze 2-5. They were pretty powerful. No normal human was going to try and mess with them. With the three main guilds, there were multiple Silver Experts and a couple Silver Masters. Though, most of the members were around Late Bronze stage.

Back at the slums, Zuhn was wondering the streets. Many of the people chose not to mess with him. Because all they saw was a teen covered in blood walking down the street. 

His expression explained it all, there wasn't an expression. The teen wasn't sad or happy. He was just emotionless.

After awhile Zuhn found his way to a small pond. The pond was slightly dirty, but Zuhn needed to clean off the blood.

Zuhn sat in the pond for about ten minutes cleaning himself off. Once he was done he put back on his clothes and looked around the slums. Soon enough he found a couple of teen around his age.

They all had clean clothes on. Zuhn's face let off a small smile as he approached the teens. The teens at first didn't care about the teen approach. Considering there was five of them, they weren't afraid.

However once Zuhn got closer they could feel the aura of a strong person. They quickly tried to run away, though it was too late. The teen already was very close to them.

"I just want some clothes."

The teen in front of the boys was calm. Two of the teens in the ground nodded their heads. While the other three weren't too scared of the man.

"Come to get them." The three boys lived in the slums, they fought for what they had. They weren't going to let this teen just steal their clothes.

All three of the teen's heads hit the ground. The two boys standing behind them jumped in horror. They both looked at the man, quickly taking off their clothes.

Zuhn picked up the clothes as he watched the two teens run away naked down the streets of the slums.

The next day quickly came about. Charlotte and Scar both finished cleaning up the house and were ready to reopen for business.

"Charlotte, why don't we go find Zuhn?"

"He won't be coming back for quite some time, let him be by himself."
Charlotte knew that someone that powerful was not going to be in the town for long. If Zuhn was related to one of the sects, then he should be leaving for the competition that day.

Scar was kinda sad, but he knew Charlotte was very smart. He chose not to continue speaking on the topic. 

Zuhn now had a fresh new pair of clothes, he also left the slums. He was walking around looking at all of the new guards that were placed around the town.

_What is going on? Are they all looking for me?_

Before Zuhn could finish thinking, loud horns blew from the middle of the town. Zuhn didn't notice it before, but there was a small arena. Inside there were thousands of people in the stands. 

Outside above the arena, a sign read, 'Fighting Competition… Winners get a chance to join one of the three great sects!' Zuhn didn't really care for the message. Though, he really wanted to kill a couple more people.

Zuhn walked inside the arena, inside were multiple people. Some had armor while others were not wearing anything like him. He could sense auras around him. Although, they were super powerful.

There were a couple people that stood out to Zuhn. In the back of the arena, there was a young teen that looked to be around 15 teens that were meditating. 

When the young teen felt Zuhn's gaze he opened his eyes. The two teens locked eyes as they both tried to access each other's strength.

A beautiful teen walked up to Zuhn holding out a piece of paper. "Sir! Are you going to be fighting today?" She holding multiple papers, "Uh... Yes." Zuhn nodded.  

Zuhn took the piece of paper from the teen and looked down at it. There were three main rules, '1. Three Judges must watch/score the fight for the fight to be valid. 2. There is no fee to join the fighting competition, but if you lose you must pay two silver coins. 3. You can not kill your opponent unless it was unintentionally.'

When Zuhn looked at the rules they were quite simple. Remembering back, he saw on the sign outside that three sects were coming to watch the fight. Also, if he won he would be able to join one of the sects.

He started to get a little interested in the fighting competition. Bells and horns rang out, everyone turned their heads to the street.

'He's so cute,' Akeko thought to herself as she watched the slim young male movements. Akeko  guessed he was around 18, even though he had an average build. The teenaged girl had a thing for guys who had dyed hair and piercings though. His dark rusty red hair was parted in the middle with its spikes sweeping downwards, along with a light grey bobby pin clipped on his left. The male's hazel eyes was focused on a book in his hands. 'and he likes books?! I've found my soulmate!' She leaned against a nearby bookcase trying to catch a glimpse of the book he was reading.

"Are you going to buy a book or keep stalking!?" The bookstore owner, Mr. Itani placed a hand on Akeko's shoulder. His grip was strong and menacing for such an old man. 

"B-buying a book, sir! Buying a book!" Akeko stammered as she tried to make herself seem busy. She tried to catch a glimpse of the boy but he was already walking out of the bookstore with his newly purchased book. Akeko's head fell with defeat as she didn't even get the cute teens name. The dark haired girl took her two books to get checked out and began to walk home with defeat.

"No!" She tightened her fist looking up at the dark sky. The sudden outburst startled the few people who were walking late at night. "I can't give up! I will find a boyfriend!" Akeko punched the air with confidence as she looked into her small bag. The two books she picked out were called, 'In The Miso Soup' and 'The Makioka Sisters.' 

Akeko was regarded as a pretty cute normal high school girl, her interest in horror novels, manga, and anime though would say otherwise. She read pretty strange things and even watched some weird stuff. Only two of her closest friends know about that side of her though. "I should put these away..." Akeko then felt a jolt down her spine, she then subconsciously moved herself to the left. A loud crack then could be heard. Because of her sudden movement she lost her balanced and fell on her butt.

Just where Akeko was standing was a huge crack in the ground. A male with short bright orange hair who was in a uniform cursed under his breath.

"You missed! How could you miss! She was right there!" A girl with dark blue hair wearing a similar uniform to Akeko scolded the male. Both girls uniform consisted  a gray blouse that had a black collar with red stripes on it, a red bow, a black skirt, white socks and black shoes. 

As Akeko moved her dark purple hair she immediately recognized the dark blue haired girl; she was Eriha Yougatsu. Akeko watched as Eriha and the orange haired male argued. AT first Akeko mistook him as the older boy from before but this one seemed more around Akeko's age and didn't have any piercings. Akeko quickly pulled out her phone remembering what her mother taught her in situations like these.

"Hello police?" Akeko tried to whisper into her phone. Eriha and the other male were too busy arguing to notice what she was doing just yet. "There's a strange couple arguing--"

"We are not a couple!!" They both yelled in unison."

"Hitomare, don't call the police!" Eriha pleaded but Akeko was unsure if she should even trust her classmate. "I'll tell you the truth," Eriha took a deep breathe to get Akeko's attention. "I'm actually from the Spiritual World. I'm a Zodiac on the Council Of 12 -- the Virgo." She explained quickly. There was a moment of silence, the orange male had a look of confusion and was dumbfounded that Eriha even explained the situation in such a confusing manner.

"Yes, hello officer? The girlfriend is a nutcase!" 

"That's it, I'll just beat the Apparition outta her!" The orange haired male began to wind up his arm to swing.

"Shouta! No! You can't hit her!" Eriha grabbed onto his arm trying to be the voice of reason. "We still have no idea if she's possessed or not!" Right when Shouta was about to punch Akeko a voice interrupted him.

"Of course Shoucchan thinks violence is the answer." Shouta almost immediately turned around to punch where the voice was coming from. His fist stopped right in front of their face. Akeko's dark brown eyes widen - it was the cute boy from before. 

"Toshiyuki!" Eriha ran towards the male to give him a hug. She pulled away blushing brightly. "I-I mean Tachihara..."

"So you call him by his last name!?" Shouta yelled at Eriha angrily. "Also listen here, Tachihara don't ever fucking call me that name ever again!" The orange haired male seemed angrier then before.

"Anyways," Toshiyuki continued to speak ignoring Shouta. "She isn't possessed by an Apparition. Can't you see Spirits, Yougatsu?" He asked the girl who was blushing with embarrassment.

"Oh my god! I totally forget.. but it isn't my fault you know. It was so dark and Shouta rushed in to attack. I forget about some of these techniques cause I'm not normally on the front lines.. and you know.." Eriha began to ramble on and on with her excuse. 

Akeko could tell Shouta was about to scream.

Surprisingly he didn't explode just yet.

"Um excuse me," Akeko began to stand up. She then fumbled to find the two books she dropped when avoiding Shouta's attack earlier. 'I can''t believe I dropped them!' 

"Oh here," Toshiyuki then handed a book back to Akeko who was becoming exhausted. "You like books from Ryū Murakami as well?" The male asked, all Akeko could think to do was respond with a simple nod. 

'He's so cute...' She thought to herself before she felt the ground beneath her shake furiously. 

"See," Toshiyuki pointed at the bookstore that he and Akeko were just in. "That's where the vents are about to open up. This girl's Spirit may be unusual but it's not strong enough to open those vents."

"So what, she can't open vents. You can feel that she has the same presence as some sort of Apparition. Yougatsu who can see Spirits and Souls even said she may have been possessed. She isn't innocent - we should beat the Apparition out of her before it turns into a Yokai." Shouta stated as he shoved his hands into his pockets.

"Actually," Eriha tilted her head as her dark blue eyes glowed. "She seems to have a mix of a Human Soul and an Apparitions Spirit. I only transferred to her school a month ago, around the time where bigger Apparitions were... of course I mistook her for one." She explained as she sheepishly rubbed the back of her head.

"What do you mean by 'Of Course'?" The two boys asked themselves when listening to Eriha's explanation.

"Can you all explain what you're talking--" Akeko then felt dizzy, her body fell forward but thankfully Toshiyuki caught her in time.

"The vent in the bookstore!" Eriha snapped her fingers. "The humans must be frozen in time because of the Apparition coming through." She stated. "We have to hurry--"

"Hold on...look." Toshiyuki interrupted.

"What are you guys talking about--" Akeko stopped talking when she saw her own body in Toshiyuki's hands. Her head became hot wondering how she was able to even see her own body. "Am I dreaming!?" She asked herself touching herself. 

"What the hell!?" Shouta yelled never seeing something like Akeko. "She's an Apparition now? Or did she just die right here!?" He asked Eriha who looked as confuses as him.

"Could she be..."

"Yes," Toshiyuki answered. "Akeko Hitomare is a half-human, half-apparition hybrid."

Apparitions have begun to start invading the human world. 

Spirit Warriors now must go undercover in the human world to save human souls from getting eaten as well as possessed.

When I was on the ground in the shadows of all the trees, I couldn't tell how hot it was, but now that I'm at the peak of the tree and the sun is above my head, I can easily say it's about 120 degrees Fahrenheit!
On earth, the highest recorded temperature was in the 130s. Seeing as I appeared in a random place and the heat is already in the 120s, it's safe to assume that it can get hotter. But to me, it's just slightly warmer than on earth.
Moving on from that, I look around and spot smoke rising in the air in a clearing a few miles ahead. Since there's a fire, there might be intelligent life or just a wildfire.
Climbing down the tree, I reach the ground and shapeshift to my wolf form and ran to the clearing.
When I get closer to the clearing, I slow down and hide to observe what's going on.
In the clearing, there's a wooden fence surrounding a field of tents made of animal furs. Because the fence is tall, all I could see are the tops of the tents, so I shapeshift to my human form and climb the tree till I could get the whole view of the camp.
Sitting on the tree branch, I look over the camp and finally see the natives, and there's a few hundred of them.
Because of the hot weather, they all have darker skin, short dark hair, and they all are wearing fur loincloths, or skirts and the women have extra pieces of fur covering their boobs. Looking at the woman, most of their boobs are on the smaller side, none of them going over a C-cup.
Some of the women and men have tattoos on their arm, stomach, and chest. They look like runes or magic sigils. I wonder what they are for?
The more I look at them, the more they remind me of the Saiyans, from Dragonball, as they are a warrior race.
After looking over the camp and its natives, I look to the biggest tent and see a crowd of people standing in front of it surrounding two people.
One woman who looks to be in her mid-30s, and is dressed in fine furs, with a highly decorated shield in her left hand and a well-used sword in her right hand with her back to the tent.
Where she's standing and the way she is dressed and the quality of her equipment, I think it's safe to assume she's the chief.
The other woman who looks to be in her late teens or early twenties is standing opposite of the chief and has fur clothing just as nice as the chief, but her sword and shield looked newer, indicating less experience.
I concentrate on my hearing to listen to the crowd talking, so I know what's happening. They speak a different language, but the faceless clan had translated it into English in one of the books I took from them, which I then memorized.
"I can't believe that the chief's daughter is trying to take her mother's position. Although Theda is a great warrior, just as good as her mother was at her age, she's still too young and has only been in a few battles."
"Right, Chief Thessalia is the best warrior the Thevalon tribe has had in almost a century. Only the founding member of the tribe, the The clan ancestor, has more war achievements than her and but Thessalia has brought the 100-year war between us and the Lupan tribe from the losing side to the winning side!"
"Theda is going to be the next chief after her mother steps down. I don't get why she is trying to get the position right now!?" 
Opening my eyes after getting to know the situation.
The Thevalon tribe is ruled by the, The clan, like a small Dynasty. And the daughter of the chief is trying to dethrone her mother. And are at war with the Lupan clan.
Looking back at the mother(Thessalia) and daughter(Theda), I see them getting ready to attack. As they were staring at each other, both of their eyes slowly started to emit green light. But after a second, Thedas' now green eyes stopped getting brighter but Thessalias' didn't.
Looking at Theda, I can see her muscles tightening up and taking this opportunity, Thessalia dashes at her daughter and shield bash her, Theda tries to dodge but, she's too slow and falls to the floor.
Before Theda can attempt to get up Thessalia holds her sword to Thedas' throat. Knowing she's defeated Theda grits her teeth and slaps away Thessalias sword and gets up.
Staring at her mother, she says, "I will defeat you next time!" After saying her piece, she turns around and walks away.
As Theda walks away, Thessalia tells everyone to leave and walks into her tent.
Looking over the camp and their equipment again, I'd say they are in the iron age. This is just a small tribe of a few hundred people but there might be bigger civilizations in the world.
I watch as Theda walks out of the encampment and into the woods right below me. I climb down the tree and shapeshift into my wolf form and follow her.
After following her for a while she arrived at a fruit tree. She picks one and sits under the tree and starts eating it.
Watching her eat it and seeing her enjoy it makes me want one. So I walk up behind her and pick one with my mouth and start eating it. It's as big as an apple, but when you bite into it, it has the same texture and taste as a watermelon.
I love it!
While I was enjoying my Melon Apple, Theda heard me munching on them and quickly turned around in a defensive stance.
Finishing my melon apple, I start to slowly circle Theda.
"What creature is this? It looks like a wolf, but its eyes are different!" After saying that, Theda attacks me. But before her sword was near me, I appeared behind her.
Her sword struck the air where I was at. Looking confused, she turns around and sees me sitting behind her.
Widening her eyes in horror, she says, "How did you do that!?" While she was staring at me I vanish again appearing behind her. She turns around, but I vanish again.
I keep doing this until she falls to the floor on both knees in despair with her sword and shield by her side giving up. I stop playing with her and shapeshift into my human form and use my telekinesis to put a leaf over my private parts.
When I turn into my human form, Theda stares at me in shock stuttering, "H-h-h-how d-did, w-what are you?"
Crouching in front of her, I smile and say, "I have been blessed by the wolf god, Whelan. I prayed to him one day saying I wanted power and he answered by giving me the power of the wolf!"
Lifting her chin with my fingers, "The Wolf God has seen you and has sent me to inquire if you want the power to defeat your mother."
Widening her eyes, she says, "Can the Wolf God save my mother. She was badly injured during the war with the Lupan clan, and she gets worse with each fight she doesn't have much time left." She looks at me with hope.
'Ohh, so that's why she was trying to replace her mother. This is even better! She will definitely accept.'
Grabbing the back of her head, making our foreheads touch staring in her eyes and say, "The Wolf God can save her but, you have to accept the Wolf God's blessing. Pray to him, worship him, and he will bring you glory!"
As soon as I finished talking, she responded, "Anything to save my mother." Her eyes firm and without any hesitation.
Smiling, I tilt her head and bite into her neck, draining her just before she passes out, I slit my wrist and have her drink my blood.
When done she passes out, and I pick her up and walk back to the tree I was on to look over the camp. Getting back to the tree branch with Theda, I place her on the branch next to me and wait for night to come.

"Well, Eric, would you let my publishing house take care of your book ?" Michael Klaus didn't try to hide his intentions, as he very bluntly said.
 
Eric looked at the already printed and bounded manuscript that the black girl gave him, and said to Michael Klaus: "I'm sorry, Michael, though I appreciate your recognition, but you know, I want to try my luck with some of the larger publishing houses. Parents hope for their children to make it to the Ivy League, don't they ?"
 
Michael did not have the slightest expression of contempt or displeasure as he smiled and said: "Eric, you don't seem to have a full understanding of those large publishing companies, maybe we could find a place to talk, I know a cafe not far from here, my treat, how about it ?"
 
Eric took back the manuscript, and put it into his bag as he straightforwardly replied: "I'm sorry, Michael, I'm late for work, if in the future my manuscript gets rejected by those publishers, I will contact you."
 
Eric carried his backpack and got out of the printing shop, he started his car and drove towards the restaurant.
Michael hesitated a little, before immediately rushing out of the shop, getting into his car and following him. He had a feeling that if he missed this opportunity, he might regret it forever. This feeling he got was 30% because the Jurassic Park novel and 70% because of that young man called Eric.
 
Although he had only read the top half of the novel, Michael was surprised by the lad's knowledge. It had to be known that teens his age may have never heard of genetic engineering, chaos theory, nanotechnology and other high-tech factors. "It was an accident," I said. I sat up straight in my seat and studied her tired face. I needed her to believe me.

"An accident?" She said. Her voice took on the shrill tone I had come to expect from her. "Mrs Sims said you threw a book at her. How could that have been an accident, Casper?" 

"I didn't exactly throw it," I said. I bit my lip. How could I possibly explain it to Mrs.Mortis? Or anyone for that matter? One second I was arguing with Mrs Sims about a party she wouldn't let me go to and the next, well, everything in the room that wasn't nailed down was floating three inches in the air. "It just sort of-"

"Sort of what? Threw itself." Her face contorted into an angry grimace. She didn't believe me. I sank into the leather seat and sighed. No one ever believed me. Instead, they called me names like 'freak' and 'witch'.

"Casper," she said, her voice softening. "I've always tried to place you in the very best foster homes in the city. Places where I thought they would try to understand your…" she searched for the word. "Your unique issues. But this is the fifteenth foster home you've been kicked out of this year. And with your history." She glanced over at me and sighed heavily. "It's getting harder and harder to place you."

I leaned my forehead against the window and felt the cool glass against my skin. After everything I'd done, it made sense that no one wanted me. I closed my eyes and remembered the beautiful porcelain skin of my adopted mother, Jane. I never meant to hurt anyone, especially not her.

"At this point, there's no other choice," Mrs.Mortis said. 

I opened my eyes and looked over at her. In the light from the dashboard, she looked old. Worried. Angry. A wave of nausea rolled over me.

"No other choice than what?"

She looked over and patted my leg with her hand. Not a good sign.

"I'm taking you to a place called Shadowhall Home," she said. "It's in a town south of here. Asheville. And the woman who runs it is well known for taking in children and teens who are struggling in the regular system. Like you."

There are no others like me, I thought. "Ive never heard of it."

"Asheville is a small community. Very different from Atlanta. I think it'll be a good place for you. Atlanta is just too big. Too full of opportunities to get in trouble or get mixed up with the wrong crowd." She pulled the car off the interstate. From the looks of it, we were in the middle of nowhere. "But I have to be completely honest with you, Casper. If you can't make it work at Shadowhall, I'll have no choice but to take you to juvenile detention until you turn eighteen."

I sat up. "What? You cant be serious."

A home for troubled children was bad enough. I certainly didn't belong in juvie. I'd known people who had gone to the one in Atlanta. It was practically like prison for teens. Constant supervision. No freedom. Strict rules. My entire body tensed just thinking about it.

"What did you expect?" She said. "Since you were eight years old, I've placed you in foster home after foster home, and you've been nothing but trouble for these families. Throwing books. Breaking windows. Fires."

"None of those things were my fault," I said. I could feel the stirring of anger and frustration deep in my stomach. How dare she bring up the fire. I had only been eight when that happened, and it wasn't my fault. It wasn't!

Change rattled in the cup holder that sat between us in the car. Quickly, I slammed my hand down over the top of it. Not now, I begged.

Mrs.Mortis continued on, thankfully not noticing the rattling noise. "It's time you learned to take responsibility for your actions," she said. "Make things work at Shadowhall or you'll go to juvenile detention for the next two years. I'm sorry, but this is your last chance, Casper."

Roughly two months later, a war broke out. 

Of course, MiZi Village being in the border would be involved in it. The village seated at the northern area of the border, thus by all means the villagers there sided with the Northerners.

That time, the trio was out playing. They chased dragonflies and butterflies, running along the river bank. 

When they returned, the two teenagers were drenched in sweat and water from the river. Their bare feet were mudded to their calves. Some grasses stuck at their hair. Of course, Yuan Ji didn't join them. Saying that they need an adult to watch over them.

The leader of the men choose a few more teens to cover the number. Fifty nine. One more. 

Just when said man considered to pick the oldest teen left—twelve of age—did YueChen opened his mouth, in a hurried manner. 

"I volunteer."

Yuan Ji, hearing those words, nearly out of reflex raised his hand and slapped him.

"I know. You don't have to worry about me." He smiled as he held a wooden stick, stuffing it into his robes, near the heart along with other things the lady gave him. 

"You took so long. What are you doing? Bathing?" Yuan Ji said, crossed his arms and leaned on the wall of the hut. 

"Nah.... Just a few things..."

"If there's nothing else, let's go then."

At those words, YueChen blanked. 

"What?" 

"Wait, you're going with me?"

Yuan Ji rolled his eyes, knocked at his forehead once. "Of course, dimwit. The war located near the cave they found you. That'd be convenient if I came along." 

That was just an excuse. In truth, Yuan Ji never intended to reclaim the sword, nor he wanted to be apart from YueChen even for a mere metre.

They left the village on horse carts, huddled together in the back. The trip was rough, as their path was mostly of rocks and peebles. The five carts arrived at their destination two or three hours later. 

The fortress had a lot of weapons and armor inside, however, this war ceased the number into only a percent remaining. 

The men led them into the weaponry, most of them were filled with dread. Except for one boy who couldn't read the atmosphere.
