Eden was able to find some relief inside the church for a few days. For the first time in years she was able to sleep without having nightmares. When she first arrived she was amazed at how beautiful the church was inside. It didn't seem like much on the outside; just an old stone building with a few stained glass windows and a large cross on the steeple. Once inside the church she noticed several colorful paintings and wall hangings depicting several different scenes; all surrounded by angelic figures. The walls were lined with candles and statues that were carved with great detail and care. The floor leading to the altar was covered in a deep red carpet. 
She had been greeted by Father Gabriel who, upon finding out that she had been directed to the church by Abe, offered to set up a place for her to stay in one of the small outer-buildings on the church property. It was a small room containing a cot with a metal frame and hard mattress. There was a small writing desk and wooden chair in one corner and an old beat up dresser in another. It had one window that faced the large wall around the back of the property. The bathroom had no mirror and it seemed like it took ages for the water to heat up. 
Meager as it seemed, she found it quite pleasant. For all the things it may have lacked there was so much more that she appreciated, like the wood burning stove that kept the tiny room very warm and comfortable. The view out the window may not have been pleasant, but when she walked outside she was pleased to see that she was standing in a beautiful garden full of flowers and a few tall trees with long branches, and a large fountain in the center of it all. She couldn't believe that there could ever be such a place hidden in the middle of such a vile city full of crime and violence. The best part of all was the sleep. The few days she had been there she had awoken each morning feeling refreshed and at ease. 
Eden spent most of her time in the garden playing with the stray cats that would wander onto the church property. Sometimes she would sit at the writing desk and read some of the materials that Father Gabriel had given her about different prayers that could be recited for protection and comfort in times of hardship and distress. Each night before going to bed she prayed to St. Michael for protection, not just for herself, but for Abe as well.  Though she finally felt safe, she couldn't stop thinking about what Abe had said before he left. She felt a sense of regret that she had not run after him and demanded that he explain to her what he was talking about and how he seemed to know so much. She figured she must have been so overwhelmed with all that she had learned in that short time period and the things that had happened that day that she wasn't sure if she could handle anymore at the time. She just wanted to forget all that had happened and pretend everything was Ok again.  It seemed that she had been granted that luxury since entering the church. That was, until the fourth night when the nightmares started again. 
It was early the next morning when she woke to the sound of screams. At first she thought the screams had been in her nightmare and had just echoed through her mind as she woke up. Then she heard it again. She quickly got dressed and proceeded out to the garden to find out where the screams had come from. She was worried that the person may be in trouble and need some help. She walked across the garden toward the screams; she was greatly troubled when it seemed that they were coming from inside the church. The screams got louder as she walked over to the door that led inside the church and tried to pull it open. It was locked. 
She stood there for a moment trying to think of another way in when suddenly the door creaked open. She felt the fear creeping up her spine again, but she heard another scream, it sounded like a young girl. She took a deep breath and stepped inside. She looked around to see who had opened the door, but saw no one. She searched the inside of the church trying to figure out where to go next and felt drawn to the door behind the altar. As she approached the door she noticed a flickering light shining underneath. Her hand was shaky as she reached for the doorknob. She opened the door slowly and discovered stairs that appeared to lead to a basement. Candles had been lit all along the wall. Taking another deep breath she began to walk down the stairs. There was another scream. She knew she was headed in the right direction because the screams were even louder, but there was something she hadn't noticed before. The screams had become strange and deep. They sounded almost animal. 
Once she reached the bottom of the stairs she found herself in a large candlelit room with two hallways off to the sides. She stood in the center of the room among old furniture that had been covered with sheets and several wooden crates, and looked down both hallways. One was dark and she couldn't see very far down, but the other was lit by more candles and appeared to have about 3 doors on each side that were closed, and one open door at the end of the hall. That was the room that the screams were coming from. 
She was now able to make out other sounds coming from the room; low growls and angry words being spoken in a strange language. She then heard voices and noticed shadows moving in the room. There were two male voices, one she made out to be Father Gabriel and the other was unfamiliar. She also heard a woman sobbing. She walked cautiously towards the door and peeked in. She couldn't believe what she was seeing. There was a young girl bound at her wrists and ankles to a large wooden chair that had been bolted to the ground. The girl appeared to be squirming and trying to break free. Father Gabriel and what appeared to be another priest were standing in front of the girl asking her questions about who she was…what her name was…and the woman was kneeling off to the side of the room holding a rosary and praying in between sobs. 
Eden was enraged by what she was seeing. She stepped into the room and shouted, "What is going on?! What are you doing to this girl?!" Everyone stopped and turned to face her. It was then that Eden realized the mistake she had just made. She hadn't seen it before; the girl's eyes appeared black and devoid of any human qualities. Her veins were dark and visible around her forehead and eyes. Her fingernails were yellow and sharp. She hissed as she looked at Eden. 
Father Gabriel told the other priest to get her out of there and he quickly ran to Eden and led her out of the room. He told her to wait outside and went back into the room and slammed the door shut. Eden heard the sound of wood cracking and the two men began yelling. There were sounds of a struggle that quickly subsided. Eden heard strange laughter from within the room. Then she heard a familiar voice speak her name, "Eden, why do you hide from us. He doesn't like it when you hide. You're being very bad Eden! Very bad indeed!" with that the laughter started back up and Eden heard the voice of Father Gabriel yell at the demon in Latin. 
Again feeling terror rise inside her she reached in her pocket and squeezed the rosary that Abe had given her. Then she was filled with a different emotion entirely. She was angry; angry that she had been tormented for so long; angry that this girl was now being tormented; and angry that this demon had found her here, where she finally felt safe for the first time in her life. She reached out and pulled the door open and walked towards the girl with a strange glow in her eyes. As the priest was about to remove her from the room again she told him to stop, "I know who this is. He seems to get a kick out of pestering people," she said looking at the girl. As she was walking she began to pull the old rosary out of her pocket. "Nybbas isn't it?" she said. "I remember you. You came to visit me." 
The demon's laughter stopped and its wicked smile slowly turned to a frown, its eyes followed Eden as she paced back and forth in front of it. The two priests stood staring with great confusion in their eyes and the woman stopped praying. The demon looked at the rosary in Eden's hand, "you think your little toy necklace is going to help you?" 
Eden looked down and inspecting the rosary she was holding, "you mean this necklace? I thought I might share it with you. Maybe we could play a little game. It's called you go back to Hell and leave me and this girl alone!" She lunged at the demon and pressed the crucifix that hung from the string of beads against its head. It began to scream as steam rose from its skin and the smell of burning flesh and sulfur filled the room. Father Gabriel and the other priest began to address the demon by name casting it out of the girl's body. The woman began to rock back and forth as she began to pray again, even faster this time while tears rolled down her face. Father Gabriel began sprinkling the demon with holy water as it screamed in agony. The demon appeared to be weakening and just as it seemed it was about to leave Eden leaned in to whisper in its ear, "You tell whoever sent you that I'll be coming after him soon and I won't be playing games." At that the body of the girl went limp and there was no more reaction to the crucifix. 
Eden stepped back and the girl lifted her head. She was tired, but there was no longer any sign of possession. The woman who had been praying leaped up and ran over to the girl in tears hugging her and kissing the top of her head. The two priests looked at each other, then at Eden who was watching the woman untie the girl. She was relieved that the girl was back to normal and could go home with her mother. At the same time, she felt a sense of dread about things yet to come. She felt as though she was losing all control. She had never done anything like this before. She had never confronted anyone, let alone a demon! She wasn't quite sure what to think. Although it was invigorating to finally stand up against one of the monsters that haunted her dreams, she didn't understand exactly how she did it. Where did this boldness come from? She began to feel light-headed and weak. Her vision began to blur and the voices in the room became muffled. Finally her knees buckled beneath her and just before she hit the floor everything went black.    

At first glance Eden seems like every other girl working hard and trying to make it on her own. She lives a simple quiet life. It's not the best, and she's not exactly where she thought she'd be by now, but it's good enough. She is kind and thoughtful, and a very private person. It's not out of any misplaced fear of being hurt, or hatred for the human race that she keeps to herself. It's because she has a secret. A secret that most people wouldn't believe, hell she's not even sure if she believes it herself. In fact, they may even say she's crazy and slap some label on her condition while shoveling pills down her throat. No, Eden learned a long time ago that it is best to keep such things to yourself, but that's all about to change. Eden is about to discover the truth behind the things she sees when she closes her eyes. She is about to become part of something bigger than she had ever imagined and she will question everything she has ever known.

"You can rest assured that, out of the kindness as your colleague, I will treat your city people well." Su Ruiying suddenly said something inexplicably. Before Jun Wu Xie responded, she turned around and walked into a house at the side.
In the deep of the night, the yard was quiet. Only an old man with a simple broom stood outside. When Su Ruiying approached, the old man raised his head slightly.
It was an unrecognizable face, the position where the nose was supposed to be looked as if a big pit had been dug out instead. His face looked as if it had been burned deeply before. His lips seemed to be stuck together and coupled with the uneven burn scars and odd features, he looked like a monster at night.
"Ah ..." Seeing Su Ruiying, the old man quickly hugged the broom and saluted.
Su Ruiying waved her hand, stepped forward to push open the gate of the yard. She turned to hook her fingers at Jun Wu Xie and Jun Wu Yao.
"Come in, this is my residence."
Jun Wu Xie walked over, and when passing by the old man, she faintly felt a familiar breath.
She seemed to have encountered it before but for a moment, she couldn't recall.
Su Ruiying's courtyard was gloomy, and by the roadside there were only two faint lights, and the fire swaying in the night breeze seemed to be tugging the shadows constantly.
"Lady Ying." A low voice filled with vicissitudes came from the darkness.
From the illumination of the flame, Jun Wu Xie vaguely saw a pair of green eyes at the end of the corridor.
"Ah Fu, there are guests today, prepare some tea." Su Ruiying said.
Those green eyes stared straight ahead, seeming to hear Su Ruiying's words, and disappeared into darkness after a while.
When she came to the hall, Su Ruiying invited Jun Wu Xie to sit down. There was an uncomfortable coldness in the whole hall. The decoration in the room also showed strangeness. The wall hangings were not suitable for landscape paintings. There was a skull of a beast that was emptied of flesh and blood, and its eyes were dug away. Only white bones were left, and it was hung on the wall, showing its fangs.
Jun Wu Xie glanced around the hall, but her eyes were attracted by the rows of dolls on Su Ruiying's table.
The puppets were about the length of an adult's forearm. The workmanship was extremely fine. Each one was wearing delicate little clothes, standing in a row and standing, one by one, counted, a little as many as thirty or forty, just ... Those puppets gave Jun Wu Xie a strange feeling. The puppet's eyes did not know what the material was, reflecting the candlelight in the hall, as if the human eyes were as divine.
"Lord Yan also likes these gadgets?" Su Ruiying noticed Jun Wu Xie's gaze and said with a smile.
"The workmanship of these puppets are very delicate." Jun Wu Xie said.
Su Ruiying chuckled, raised her hand, and picked up a doll at the forefront. The doll looked like a handsome young man, with a very handsome face. The small facial features were exquisite. In her hands, it gave a different feeling.
"Lord Yan, these are not puppets." Su Ruiying's eyes narrowed slightly. She suddenly threw the puppet in the hand on the ground.
There was a crunch with a click. The puppet fell not lightly. Just after that crunch, the puppet fell to the ground and stiffly climbed up from the ground!


She was a peerless genius in the 24th Century – all she needed was a silver needle and she could practically bring anyone back from the dead.

This is an interesting cross over story with some magic, romance and a black bellied miss as the main character.

Galestorm and Liote stared at Pretize in bewilderment. A powerful, wealthy and huge clan like the Turquoise Sea Lord Clan, where even the servants have more than seven robes, there the main daughter having just five was not only shameful, it was unbelievable. Galestorm looked at Liote with questions written big on his face while Liote exclaimed,

"Five robes!!  Why didn't you get more robes for yourself?" 

Pretize actually just wanted some clothes from which she can make some comfortable, easy-to-move dress for herself. Five or ten robes doesn't matter to her. She answered in an emotionless voice, "I would have liked to buy but with a weekly allowance of 2 silver and 4 bronze coins, I was not able to afford it"

The more Liote and Galestorm were hearing the more shocked they were getting. Galestorm spoke in his coldest of voice, 

"Two silver coins? Liote, is this how much our family's main daughter should be receiving? Even our servants get one gold coin (which was roughly $9.6) per week. Just how have have you been looking after Pretize?" 

Liote was speechless. True, he had deprived Pretize from luxury and had not paid much attention to her but he had never been negligent about her allowance or her basic necessities. Getting to know that she had been living in a more miserbale condition than their family servants was nothing short of embarassment to him. This was a question to his capabilities as a head of the family as well as a parent. All this time, he had never bothered listening to Pretize, now that he think about it, maybe her bad behaviour culminated from her miserable state. 

It was only now that he was getting to know that his wives and his other children had been mistreating her. It never came to his notice before. He felt ashamed to have never noticed how Pretize had suffered esp since she lost her mother at a young age. To have entrusted her completely to her stepmothers, and hoped for them to care for her like their own daughter, how foolish could he have been. 

As the main daughter of the Sea Lord Clan, the weekly allowance of Pretize was 12 gold coins (which was equivalent to $115) that is 48 gold coins in a month which should be enough for her to pay her servants as well as get robes for herself.  

Liote realized that he had to stop Pretize from speaking further. Since, he had been so sorely unaware of her life, he decided instead of asking for more details, he would rather provide her with everything that was suppose to be owned by the Main daughter. 

"It must have been the servants who are appointed to deliver the allowances to you. It had been a mistake on my part to entrust so much amount to this new servants. From now on you will be staying in the Ocean wave courtyard in the east of the mansion. It is a courtyard suitable for the main daughter. I am removing all your old, lazy and untrustworthy servants and appointing two personal maid and three servants on-call. There will be three guards guarding your courtyard. Your allowance will be sent by my personal account keeper. And about the robes, for the time being you can go to the tailor department and collect whatever you require. Is there anything else?" 

Actually, Elena would have preferred having no servants. She was used to doing her work on her own. And she trusted no one. So, having servants was a burden but if she refuses it will raise suspicion. Therefore, she, instead of refusing, decided to deal with them later. She knew that Liote was trying to cover up his negligence towards her by providing her everything as suited to the Main daughter's honour. She just had one other problem. She spoke acting very grateful,

"I thank father for providing me so much just I was wondering if I was allowed to leave the mansion if I needed to get something?" 

Liote blinked in surprise. He disallowed her leaving the mansion after all the rumours. Now, that the matter was cleared, there was no reason to restrain her. But before he could say anything, Galestorm spoke,

"After the family meeting on this full moon, you are free to come and go to the mansion. I will have to ask you to restrain yourself till then" 

Elena understood Galestorm's intention. She knew he was just trying to avoid more gossips about her. But Elena also knew that she can't sneak out unless she was familiar with her surroundings. She needed to first get acquainted with this new place as well all this magic thingy. She hated being uninformed about anything. She felt like something was missing without having full information of it. Since, she can't leave, she decided to take this opportunity to learn more about this place, the magic stuff and all. As per her memory, there was a huge library in the mansion having all sorts of books. That would be the best starting point. She smiled at Galestorm and acted earnest as she spoke,

"Granddaughter would listen to grandfather" 

It was the first time that Pretize referred to him as grandfather since they met today. His cold expression got mild. Elena continued to act earnest as she spoke,

"Grandfather, am I allowed to the access of the family library? I love to read books"

Galestorm smiled at her affectionately for the first time, "You don't have to ask. As long as you have the family crest, you can access any part of the mansion"

"Thank you!" Elena said bowing her head

"Now, you rest till your courtyard is prepared" Liote said in a polite tone but his expression was still sombre, before both of them left.  

Next day, Pretize was shifted to the Ocean wave courtyard even though her body was yet to recover completely. She was escorted by two servants who introduced themselves as, Lupe Lina and Kezen Udre, in the afternoon, who barely looked sixteen. Lina was short with frail build and short brown hair while Udre was same height as her with long black hair tied neatly in a braid and big black eyes. Her shoulders were broad and looked like she knew fighting. They had packed her things from her previous courtyard which had hardly filled half of one trunk and were there to guide her to her courtyard as instructed by Liote.

When she reached the courtyard, she saw that it was huge and had enough empty space in the front of the chamber to practice martial arts. She would need that space to train this week undernourished body of hers. She saw a girl who was around the same age as her standing in front of the chamber door with a slight bow. She greeted her formally and opened the door to her chamber and escorted her in. The room was, since there was no other word to describe it, 'Luxurious'. It had a huge parlor with fully wooden table, comfortable armchair, bookshelves, torch gaps on wall where candlebra with candles were placed, even though there was a huge chandelier on the ceiling, wall hangings, a separate space for practicing magic. It led to a large bed room with a typical princess bed with bed hangings, a huge window overlooking the bed covered with velvety curtains, full size mirror with large number of cosmetics and several jewellery boxes, big wooden wardrobe with a very decorated door, large portraits adorning the walls, a beautiful eye striking chandelier and just like the parlor, there were torch gaps on the wall where candlebra was placed. 

Besides this two rooms there was a servant's quarter which was akin to a hall with four single beds in each corner, all looking very comfortable, with each corner having wardrobe, book shelf, full size mirror and small table and chair. It looked like the dormitories on Earth except it was much too comfortable. The servant's quarter was separate from Pretize's room by small corridor, not so far that they cannot hear Pretize's call but far enough to not disturb her rest with their talk. 

The room was enviably beautiful. Elena, though not fond of excessive luxury, found herself admiring it. Lina and Udre started arranging her things in the room while the other maid came and bowed to her and spoke like the chiming of the wind, 

"Third young miss, may I dress your wounds first or would you like to bath first?"

Elena cut her gaze off from the room which she was still praising and said in a deadpan voice, 

"I'll take my bath first"

The servant bowed and said again politely, "Then, let me prepare your bath" 

Elena nodded non chalantly. As, she trotted away, Elena ambled towards the window, slightly pulled the curtain apart and peeked outside. She saw there were three guards patrolling in three direction of the house. She checked the wall fencing around the courtyard which was as tall as two men. The top of the wall, however, had nothing that could stop someone from jumping in or out. She wondered if there was any magical barrier but how to check that? 

She left the curtain and walked to the mirror, rubbing her chin thoughtfully. She checked the cosmetics on the dressing table. She found quite a number of useful material. Perfect! This will be very helpful with her disguise. Now, she needs to get clothes, information and money! Living like a fugitive and running from Adrian for years, she had learn't to believe only on herself. Hence, she doesn't want to depend on this Clan for anything. She had to train her body, mind, and soul and learn about this magic and know if she can utilize it for combat! Plus, she had to know more about this world and her enemies. In this life, there was no Adrian chasing her so, she has one less headache. And dealing with those bunch of scheming family members was no big deal for her. 

She knew that she could only relax for few days as after today's incident Liote must be feeling guilt ridden and will be focussing on her for a while to ease his conscience. This will keep those pesky evil  heartless stepmothers, half siblings and cousins of hers in check for the time being but she could swear they were not going to sleep well till they avenge for today's incident. 

"Third young miss, your water is ready. I will help you with your clothes" the little maid came back and spoke formally.

Elena was wondering why Liote appointed this little girl as her personal maid. She was very thin with honey tan complexion, curly brown hair, thin small face, and almond eyes. She looked like she would be flattened in one slap. But she understood now, she was quick, efficient, not talkative, polite and very well trained. Elena instinctively also felt she had some magical power too, though, she looked very delicate. Elena strolled towards her till she came face to face with her,

"What's your name?"

"Answering to the third miss, I am known as Fren" the girl answered without raising her head 

"Fren, call Udre and Lina here" Elena instructed. 

She quickly bowed with a soft 'Yes' disappeared in a whoosh! She returned in about two minutes with Lina and Udre on her toes. They all bowed to her and said in unison, 

"Reporting to the third miss" 

Elena looked at them with her dead eyes which inadvertently made the maids shiver. She always carried an aura which made people uncomfortable but she never gave much mind to it. Afterall, she only bothered about her mission, all this trivial issues were not worth wasting efforts on.

She decided to put out some rules for these servants, otherwise, it would be nothing short of headache if they keep tailing her everywhere she goes. 

"Now that you all are serving me, there are some rules you need to follow. First, when am in my bed room, I want none of you loitering outside unless I call you. Second, whether you are bringing food or message or anything, you will first knock on the door. If I call you in THEN only you were to enter otherwise not. Third, if someone requires my audience when I am not free or have told you I am not free, you are to turn them down. No matter who it is. Clear?" 

The three servants looked at each other in surprise before Udre spoke formally, 

"Third miss, what if it is Clan Head?"

"Didn't you hear what I said? When I said No one meaning  NO ONE! Did I exclude anyone?"

"Bu-" Lina started looking anxious

"You have only one master right now and thats me. No one else. You are serving me and you will follow whatever I say! If you have issue with that you can leave right now. I don't want disobedient or rebellious servants. If you follow what I say, then you will be receiving bonus of one gold coin each at the end of the month, if not, your salary would be halved or you will be dismissed immediately depending on the degree of your mistake! Am I clear?"

In 21st century

"You are doing this not just to get your white wings back, are you?" asked Airow.  His deep voice washing over her, as she rubbed the last of the sleep from her eyes.
"What do you mean?  I need to get my wings white in order for us to go home."
"Yes, but maybe the wings won't turn white, unless you do it not from the need to get them white, but the need to help the children.  Don't do it for just your white wings."
She nodded silently as she thought about that.
"Grey, we should eat before we investigate this Lord Stonewall," suggested Airow.
"You are right.  Bob had said we could have some food while we were here."
As they sat to eat, Airow found it dull and tasteless.  He watched as Grey didn't seem to have a problem eating it, though.
"Airow, why are you not finishing your meal?" asked Grey.
"It tastes bland, but I shall finish it.  It doesn't compare to the manna we ate, back home."
Grey paused, and looked at him for a moment.  She didn't remember manna.  Looking back down at the food from Bob's kitchen, she fought the urge to cry.  Had the food back home been that much better?  Fighting off her sadness, she finished in silence, and they stood to leave.  They had a job to do.
"Let us go and talk to people, to see if we can learn more about the child trafficking," said Airow, as they stepped out the inn.
Grey nodded in agreement, then moves over to a mother with several children around her.
"Excuse me, ma'am, but we heard that children may be being snatched from the streets."
"She means that we've heard about someone doing child trafficking around here.  Do you know anything about that?" jumped in Airow, quickly.
Grey nodded at his words.  She knew that she might not be wording things correctly, and decided that perhaps it would be best if he took the lead.
"I've heard of such rumors," said the woman, hugging her smallest child to her.  "But I've never let my children run loose to play, to be snatched before.  It's too dangerous and there are too many monsters about.  Why, we had angels and demons fighting just the other day.  Surely you saw the destruction they left in the marketplace?"
"Yes, and it was a good thing that they left, and nothing happened to the angels.  Those demons were really evil."
"The angels?" she exclaimed in anger.  "I don't care about the angels!  I don't care about the demons!  I just wish they would all leave us be, and fight their battles somewhere else!"
"As do I," he agreed.  Grey pulled him away from the woman and they moved on to the next person, who was an old man, leaning on a cane.  He had watched their discussion and Grey thought he might have something to add.
"Sir, we are here to deal with the rumors of child trafficking.  Do you know anything about it?" Airow asked.
"All I know, is that with all of the fighting, it's very easy for children to go missing.  Sometimes, it's the demons and angels that cause the child to die, and sometimes its misfortune that they disappear.
"Perhaps you should ask Lord Stonewall.  His family has been known to house orphans in the past."
"Why is he called Lord Stonewall?" asked Airow, suddenly curious about the name.
"It is said, that his family is the one who built the wall that circles our town.  Though, unfortunately, it has fallen to ruin over the past decade."
"Thank you," said Airow, pulling Grey to the side.  "We should check out the wall that Lord Stonewall has built.  It was supposed to protect the town, but now the demons are coming through it.  Maybe we'll find a clue there?"
"Why do you want to go to the wall?" asked Grey.
"I find it odd that it's fallen to ruin.  Maybe he's letting the demons in, to cause a distraction."
"Fair enough," she said.
When they reached the site, of the collapse outer wall, that the demons broke through, it looked like this wall had recently been sabotaged from the inside.
"There are two theories, circulating in my head, right now.  The first, you already know, is that he's using the demons as a distraction, the second, maybe the demons have some way to come in and used the wall as a decoy so they could hide the fact that they had a way in."
"I don't think that the imps we had fought here, would have thought that far ahead.  I think they were too stupid to use a wall as a decoy.  I imagine the Lord Stonewall theory is probably closer to the truth.  Should we check him out next?"
"Ok, but we have to make sure we get some evidence of his crimes.  We can't just kill someone.  The humans will probably do it for us if we can find proof," Airow cautioned.
Grey knew that if she killed anyone else, it had better be a demon only, because she had already fallen farther then she wanted.  Nodding in agreement, they made their way across town, to the grand estate of Lord Stonewall.  When they came to his front gates, they saw that the stone wall that surrounded his estate was actually taller and better built than the one around the whole town.
"That's odd," Grey said, as she touched the wall.  "Why would this wall be better than the other wall?"
Placing his hand on her shoulder, "Maybe they have gotten better at building walls?  This one does look more recent?  Could they have had to replace the larger wall after all of the attacks, thus making it not as good?"
"Perhaps, but let's ask Lord Stonewall and find out."
A butler arrived when they knocked on the door, to let them in.  
"How may I help you?" he asked.
"Is Lord Stonewall home?" asked Airow.
"We wish to speak to him," added Grey.
"The lord is busy at the moment, but I can take you to his study so that he can meet with you as soon as he is free?"
"Thank you," they said, following the butler.
The great hall was very ornate, with highly decorated designs carved into the walls.  A shield was hung on the wall, depicting the crest of the Stonewall family.  It looked normal for a rich person's estate.
The butler took them down a lavish hall, that had thick carpet and colorful wall hangings.  Opening the door to the study, they entered to find themselves surrounded with books.  In this day and age, a single book could sell for enough to feed a man for the whole of his life.  To be surrounded by books attested to the wealth of Lord Stonewall.
"If he has all this wealth," said Grey softly, "Why would he bother with trafficking?  He obviously doesn't need money."
"Then what does he want?"

Stasia(Grey), led a squadron of angelic warriors, until they came up against a demon battalion that was more than they bargained for.  She fell that day.  Events will transpire to make her doubt everything she knew.  With the aid of Airow, she has to fight to gain back what she has lost.  However, what they find may change everything.

The top of the tall building was dilapidated as it was baptized by radiation and rains for the last three hundred years. Top two or three layers had collapsed and were in ruins. Brian leaped up through the gap of the wreckage of the broken wall instead of walking around and use stairs. It was the highest ground of the building. He was extremely satisfied with the broken wall cover which was very suitable for ambushes. He felt the hunt will be very smooth. 

Roars echoed out which surprised Brian. "Did it came over so quick?", Brian thought. He quickly adjusted the bow in his left hand with a firm grip. Two arrows were taken out by his right hand with a smooth backhand motion. Arrows were silver in color and reflected his cold eyes. He looked down through the crevice of the cracker wall and saw his prey. 

The buildings that Brian saw were half-broken and covered with vegetation. From the corner a behemoth sized black monster came over. Its body length was about five meters. There were black loose hairs stuck to its body. Its head was similar to wolf's as its mouth was prortuding outwards with two large sharp fangs. Saliva was flowing down through its fangs, dipping the hair on its chin. 

"Finally! It came out!" Brian's eyes narrowed as bloodthirsty excitement flashed past, "A rare level 9 monster. After I kill you my magic marks will be able to evolve again. Finally I will master a new ability!"

He put the arrow onto the bow and his eyes glanced away. He looked at the previous open space where he had left Dudian and the rest. But no one was there. His face changed and his eyes became cold: "Bastards! Damn little bastards! If you had struggled a little in front of it you would have created more output even if you would be killed on spot!" 

He shook his head as he looked at the street. It seems the monster was smelling to trace the location of preys. Brian's face was livid: "This thing is not a mindless low-level undead. If I shot at it because of temerity, it will certainly be aware of my location. Moreover, it will also arouse its suspicions."

He clenched his teeth in vain as he thought of the matter in hand, "These little bastards said that they were seperated from other scavengers. If they lead it to that large force there should be a chance to kill it!" As he thought more his eyes brightened with hope. He quickly opened his backpack and pulled out a bottle of yellow vial. He opened the cap and sprinkled a bit of it on himself. 

"This amount of vial should be enough to cover up my smell. As long as I'm not too close to it then I'm safe. It should go after those little animals. " Brian secretly thought out.

Dudian and the rest were frightened when they saw the monster jump out of the corner of the building. They had heard stories about such terrifying monsters. They would have never expected them to actually exist! 

Dudian said in hurry: "Run! Go up the stairs!"

Mason, Sham and Zach reacted and quickly followed Dudian and walked up the stairs. 

"Quick! Hide! Hide!" Sham stammered as he was anxious and almost cried out. Previous undeads in comparison to this black behemoth were like cute little kittens. 

Dudian's face was pale too. As he heard Sham's words he hurriedly said: "We can not hide! We have to go to the roof to find him!" 

Mason whispered: "He, he will not save us! We violated his words ... ..."

"It is not for help, we are going to kill him! Or we will lead that thing to him. Even if we die we will pull the hunter with us!" Dudian clenched his fists. His heart was filled with fear and a very strong anger. His speculation was right on spot, that bastard really wanted to use them as a bait. They had helped him with the bandage and wound. They even gave him their food and water. Instead of thanking them he acted ungratefully! 

Moreover it was not about being ungrateful, but sending them to their death! 

Animal!

Dudian had never been so angry.

On the top of the building, Brian watched through the broken wall. He saw the monster suddenly look at the direction of the high-rise. It was clear that it had found the smell of those little bastards! 

Brian's eyes flashed with a hint of the coldness. He secretly thought: "Damned, little bastards. Instead of obedient death you have chosen to run. Do you think that you will be able to save yourself if you flee in to the building? Small pieces of garbage! Bastards! "

He knew that Dudian and the rest would die. There were no vials on them to cover their smell. They will be found by the monster. He was not happy but angry. They would be of little value to him if they died in the building. In the building he could not find the angle to attack. The former open street was perfect as a hunting ground for him. Cramped places such as the building was the worst terrain for a hunter who specializes in the long-range attacks such as himself. 

He could imagine the fear of those kids who had went into the building. He began to calculate few odds about them. If it is from the moment that they entered the building when he left the street then they should be located somewhere around 4th to 6th floor. The monster shall catch up to them maximum by the tenth floor. 

And he was on the 23rd floor. 

He has long noted down the layers of the building as he climbed to the top of the high-rise. As an experienced hunter, his observation and copying abilities were out of ordinary. 

"If the battle happens on the 10th floor...hmm... The distance between this floor and 10th is very far. But I don't know if it will be able to locate me." Brian frowned. He was little uneasy in his heart. After all, he only saw a simple message in the hunting manual describing the monster as 'extremely sensitive to the smell'. But there were no specific details about the range. 

Because of this he took out the yellow bottle, poured the vial over his body and evenly applied to all parts of his body. He was thinking and calculating at the same time: "Now, they should be on the eighth floor while the monster should be on sixth floor. I estimate that it won't take long until they will be eaten by the monster. In case the monster can feel my presence then the only option for me is to jump from here!"

He began to think about the retreat plan. After all he can not pin all his hopes on a monster and four bastards! 

Time went by. Brian's muscles had tightened up. He was simulating the process while calculating the time: "Those little bastards should be dead by now. I have to wait to see the monster leave the building. I can catch up to it!"

He took a deep breath and waited. He heard a sudden roar coming from below and a giant shadow jumped out towards him. 

Brian's pupils shrank as he jumped back in hurry. The claws of the monster hadn't reached him. 

He saw the fragments of the backpacks hangings on its fangs.

Silence reigns before the Simone fall back a few paces to gossip in a whisper.

The Discipline Committee is highly respected because they are the best at what they do, and because of that, the public defer to a red armband automatically. They're an exclusive group, the very first protectors of Namimori, and yet it's a relatively small gathering of high schoolers. Because of this, everyone in the safe zone knows the names of every DC, especially since Hibari Kyouya doesn't give anyone a red armband anymore.

However, even though the TV station is starting up and the speed of communication around Namimori is fast, faces of the DC aren't well known apart from the main representative; Vice Chairman Kusakabe Tetsuya.

So, technically, Enma and his friends should know this teenager's name.

They hiss at each other, going through a mental list, but rumours of personality and features don't match with any of their guesses. Maybe if they saw a weapon they could pinpoint the identity.

They turn a corner, obediently following at the DC member's heels, and step into a boxing gym.

The interior is the entire two floors, while any boxing equipment seems to have been packed away and instead blue training mats are set out.

Along the edges of the room sit a huge number of guns and a mix of every weapon Enma could name and then some. Also along the wall, on the second level, is a catwalk that circles the room for any observer.

A large group of lilac armbands stand at one end, silent as they listen to a DC girl explaining the itinerary.

The male DC Enma is following strides to the middle of the room and stops.

The girl gestures for her listeners to turn and gives a respectful nod to the male. "To summarise; this your only opponent, you have three hours to take him down, use whatever you can to do so."

The recruits fan out, snatching up weapons and circling the teenager. Some look more wary than others, but the ones who are cautious also seem to have given up already.

"Fatal attacks are allowed as you can't afford to hold back," the girl continues, striding to the stairs and making her way up to a catwalk. "But any injury to your fellow recruits will have you stripped of your armband."

The Simone take up position against a wall and simply observe for the moment. They already know what they're supposed to be doing so this is just to get a feel for the opponent.

The teenager turns in a slow circle, scanning the group he's up against. All of the armbands hold two or more stripes out of the maximum five, since this side of Namimori faces the larger cities with more infected.

Then a gleam of silver reflects off the florescent lights, weapons suddenly appearing in the teen's hands.

Metal tonfas.

"Hibari Kyouya," Enma breathes out, finally placing a name to the DC member.

The recruits who looked so confident before suddenly drop back, but the Chairman follows in a blur.

The Disciplinary Committee member strides across the catwalk as the last recruit collapses, already unconscious. Her Chairman lets the metal staff drop from his hands, panting. He moves around the room, snatching up fallen tonfas and getting his breathing under control.

The DC girl catalogues his expression and puts it through a mental translator. The Chairman seems to be rather content with the recruit's abilities, but the set of his mouth says he would have preferred it if they actually managed to knock him out.

"Chairman," the girl greets as she climbs down the stairs from the catwalk. "Thank you for doing this. The recruits tend to get arrogant when they have more stripes."

"No matter," Kyouya hums. "It was my pleasure." A flick of his wrists clean the blood from his weapons, followed by the spikes retracting, and finally the tonfas being tucked away.

She smiles at his response and watches closely, taking out her roll call to note down comments as he weaves through the bodies, making a slow circuit of the room.

"Down a stripe," he orders. "Up one, down two, down, down, up, take this one's band away, up, up two, down," he dictates as he passes over the unconscious victims.

Most of them have been promoted properly by the DC, but some sneak past the grading. She's happy to note that the ones she graded have correct stripes.

Kyouya stops at the group that followed her Chairman inside - the ones late to her training session. He scans the bodies and she remembers how well they fought.

They lasted two hours and forty-three minutes -the last ones standing in fact- dealing a great amount of damage. The long haired girl even put a dent in one of her Chairman's tonfa while the entire group worked together to wrench the weapons out of Kyouya's hands.

They fought well together, moving in ways that dealt to their strengths. If the Chairman was only restricted to mastery of his tonfas, they would have won.

Unfortunately for them, her Chairman is Hibari Kyouya.

"Five stripes," Kyouya says simply.

She blinks in shock. "They'll be the first," she sounds out, not exactly questioning the Chairman but asking if he's certain. She saw how strong they are, but the current order has no five stripes – partly to make people work for it but mostly because no one is strong enough. "Only six percent of your forces reach four, with thirteen percent at three."

Kyouya hums. "Perhaps I'm too strict."

"Of course not," she snaps, angry at someone questioning her Chairman, even if it's the Chairman himself. "They're the ones letting you down. They should all be five stripes by now."

Kyouya gives her a look to shut her up, but he's too amused for it contain much of an edge.

She feels like a pet that did something wrong but is too adorable to scold properly. Admittedly, she heard the last time a DC snapped at him and tried to order the Chairman around, that smiling radio host had just propositioned Kyouya.

The host isn't dead, only because the public find him amusing. That wouldn't normally bother the DC, but apparently hangings aren't a thing anymore - especially when the dead man walking has public opinion on his side.

Pity.

"Sorry, Chairman," she says. "But only for yelling at you. I'm not retracting my opinion."

"I wouldn't expect you to," he murmurs, staring at her until she twitches before turning back to the unconscious teens. "They're five stripes, but only when they're a team…"

"Shall I send them to Vice Chairman Kusakabe?" she offers. "He's been asking for strong recruits who work well with a team."

A sigh escapes her Chairman. "Fine - but if I see them stalking me on his orders, I'll bite them to death."

She smiles as she writes down the note.

It's the zombie apocalypse for about an hour, and then Hibari Kyouya happens. During his terrifyingly efficient takeover of the world, he also deigns to clear out the zombie infestation.

NORTHERN EMPIRE 

Mendasyera was divided into 7 Continents. Southern Sea Continent was the largest continent with the entire land surface under Tung Empire. This continent was again divided into a total of 18 empire which were the vassal state of Tung. There were rulers of this vassal state who were called Stately Prince/Princess or State Rulers. Eastern Deccan Continent got divided into two after a huge battle with the rebel group. Thus, One part of the Eastern Deccan Continent was ruled by Kimura Empire and another by the Rebel group called Mū Empire. There was a constant conflict between this Empire and they would keep clashing from time to time. Among the rebel group, Mū Empire was the strongest. And the Western Plain Continent had two Rebel groups. Bienz Empire ruled the Western Plains and was a very peaceful empire, until the rebel started appearing but Bienz being a peace loving King simply made a Treaty with both the rebel group, giving them part of the Westen Plain. This Rebel group settled down and leave in mutual peace. They were the Daô Empire and Riyaz Empire. Finally, there was the Northern Empire. It was an uninhabited land because of the snow covering the entire region all year round. This Empire which was called Shénmi Empire was a mysterious land. No one knew who stayed there or even the fact that they were Caelium or not. People had several speculations but none were proven. The land was situated in far north and have extremely complicated landscape which is why it was not easy to get there. Some Caeliums over the year attempted it but were unsuccessful. And some who reached were not able to entire the land because of such strong barrier. Thus, the assumption of Caelium with Powers reaching the Divine Realm inhabiting there became a popular idea. All the empires rebel and non rebel mutually decided to leave it alone as they didn't want to unintentionally provoke Divine Realm Caeliums. And so the Northern mountain continent was called Shénmi Empire or Mystery land.

In the deep regions of the Northern Mountain Continent was a Snow Palace. It was built entirely with snow. The floors, the walls, the ceiling and even the decorations in the palace was by Ice sculpture, Snow flake wall hangings, Ice Chandelier etc. But the most surprising part of this Snow Palace was that, the entire Palace was lighted up by Flame tail fly (a small dragonfly shaped insect but its wings and back were made of fire) and no ice were melting under the heat. There were torch gaps in the wall which Ice hurricane trapping the flame tail fly, same with chandelier and the fire place was covered with a transparent barrier to stop the flame tail fly to escape. 

In the room of the Royal Highness, a man who didn't looked a day older than twenty was standing in the balcony. The weather was terrible and frosty wind was blowing day and night. He was standing with his eyes closed letting the chilly wind blow over him. His long black hair which was nearly touching his knees were loosely braided and fluttering in the wind, his smooth youthful face was pale like all the blood had left it, his shoulders were broad, back wide and straight, his nose long and hooked, his lips were pale pink and thin. Look wise, he could be said to be above average but what distinguished him was not his looks but his status and power. He was the King of the Shénmi Empire and his powers have already reached the peak of Demi God Realm. He was on the verge of breaking into White Divine Realm. Once any Caelium crosses the Celestial Realm, not only their power gets a huge boost  but their life span expands to beyond any mortal. Unless they are murdered by someone or themselves decide to give up their lives, they can go on living. This is why, they were often referred to as Immortals. As long as the Caelium are in human and celestial realm, they are called Mortals. Similarly, this Immortals can also regain the appearance of when their energy was at its peak. 

"Your Royal Highness, it is chilly outside. Please come inside the room" a petite woman with red face and white blond hair said. She was kneeling on the ice floor with cupped fist and bowed head. 

The King opened his eyes. It was the colour of melting caramel. His loose white robes which were fluttering hard due to the viscous wind, made him look like a heavenly creature. He turned around to look at the woman and smiled
"Wendi, thank you for your concern"

"Wendi serves His Highness and hence being concerned is my duty" Wendi said devotedly

"Is that so?" he chuckled, "then I shall not deprive you from performing your duties" 
He walked into the room and waved his hand, which closed the ice door behind him. 

"Your Highness, would you like to have some tea?" Wendi said getting on her feet. 

The King was about to answer when he heard quick steps. Within minutes, a chubby boy with red face appeared. He immediately got down on his knees, with cupped fist and said huffingly

"Yo-Your Highness"

"Troy, is this the way to behave in front of his Royal Highess?" Wendi said glaring at the boy

"Forgive me sister. I-I was just..."

"Aahhh Wendi, you are too strict. The boy must be in hurry. Let him speak" The king said casually

Wendi cupped her fist and said respectfully  "Yes Your Highess!"

"So, Troy what news you have that led you to be in such hurry?"

"Forgive me, Your Majesty!" Troy kowtowed three times before speaking, "I-I have received a letter sent through our empire's secret communication technique"

King gentle appearance immediately got serious, "Letter?"

"Yes your Highness. It has no name on it. It's an unknown letter"

"Bring me there, Little Troy" he said gently but the boy looked like he had been scolded. He immediately got on his feet and said with a deep bow

"Please allow me to guide you there your Highness"

Troy brought the king to a room which looked like a parlor with couch, table, shelves, fire place, paintings on walls and ice sculpture on four corners and a grand ice chandelier. On the table there was a ice bowl which was filled with ink blue liquid. The king tapped on bowl three times and the liquid flew out of the bowl in a spiral motion. It stopped in mid air, floating like ship on sea before transforming into a rectangular shape of a paper. The blue colour cleared to show a yellowish white colour scroll which had neat cursive writing on it. The king held it and read through it. Once he finished, his expression turned grave.
