Norway meant "northern way."
A beautiful city with the combination of nature and modern structures, Oslo was located on the country's southern coast at the head of Oslofjord. 
In it was a prestigious private school named Bestrum Videregaende Skole.
The four buildings of this school were of simple design similar to most of the other buildings in Norway, but the main building was specially built using white marble and transparent glass. It was so delicately detailed that it looked more like an opera house than a school. 
A sharp gust of wind blew, making Silje's black hair dance in the air wildly. It covered part of her eyes, but Silje didn't brush it off. She just remained standing with a blank face.
It was a cold day and it was just starting to snow.
Slowly, Silje turned her head in silence. She was surrounded by individuals who were smirking at her cruelly.
"So?"
After a stubborn silence, Silje finally opened her mouth.
"So what's your plan? You're telling me that you plan to bully me because I'm the only Asian in the school, right? Is that it?"
Silje looked blank-faced until now. Her resting face was calm and slightly sad, and suddenly, she sneered right back at them. She looked so dangerous that the bullies hesitated for a second.
She continued, "You guys have already decided to do this, right? You just need someone to bully, that's all, so do whatever you want. I will let you."
As it started to snow harder, Silje smiled.
"But remember this. No matter how badly you guys bully me, you will never take away my spirit."
After a brief hesitation, they slowly swarmed Silje and started to pull her hair.
The ground was now covered in white snow.
Suddenly, there was a loud slapping sound.
This was the first time Silje experienced violence in her life.

One year later.
Silje was standing on the railing outside the third-floor window. The classmates behind her teased and blocked her way. They called her an Asian monkey, and it looked like they were about to attack her. These were her tormentors who had been bulling Silje for the past year. Today was just like any other day where they mocked and bullied her.
"Come down right now so we can get you!"
"Dirty Asian monkey! You're gonna get it today!"
There were threats and intimidation. 
The bullies hunted her down until Silje was standing on the railing of the third floor.
She couldn't remain here forever. What should she do to get away?
Her feet were unstable and suddenly, Silje's eyes wavered.
It had been a year since she was bullied at school. She was so sick and tired of it. Silje was the only Asian in this private school and because of it, her classmates decided to torment her.
She was at her limit. Her classmates continued to call her names and terrorize her.
A strong wind blew, and she was a small burning fire. To the bullies, she may have looked fragile, but Silje's spirit was very much alive. She wasn't a dying fire but a sizzling blue flame.
Her body may have been weak, but she would never surrender. Her pride would not let her. If she gave in, perhaps her life would be easier, but Silje knew she would never be able to live in shame.
Yes. She would show them. She would choose her pride over an easy life. They may destroy her body, but they will never get her soul.
This was the conclusion she came up with after a year of being bullied.
After making her decision, Silje bit her lips as her tormentors continued shouting, "Die, you yellow monkey!"
All of a sudden, her bullies became silent with shock. Before anyone could stop her, Silje took a deep breath and jumped off the three-story building.
"Gyaa! Gyaaaah!"
Girls screamed in shock and fear.
As Silje fell, she felt calm. She made up her mind and accepted her fate. This was the end and at least she got to choose how and when to end her life.
She could hear the wind and feel the air. The cold Oslo wind felt even colder at this moment. Silje closed her eyes as she continued to fall.
"Gyaa! Somebody stop her!"
"Someone fell off the building."
How easy it was to end a life. She couldn't think anymore. Her mind became blank.
'This is it. At least I didn't surrender to them.'
Suddenly, she felt her body hit something. She expected it to be something hard, but her eyes widened quickly as she realized that it wasn't. In fact, what her body fell onto was a living breathing being.
Slam!
She knew something wasn't right, so when she turned to look, the first thing she felt was his hot breath and the strong scent of Eau de Cologne. She also caught the scent of blood.
When she blinked in shock, the girls nearby screamed.
"Gyaa!"
"Oh my god! Kail!"
When she looked up, she saw the dark hair and cold green eyes.
Clear emerald eyes glared at Silje angrily. She could feel obvious rage from them, and it was directed at her.
"Oh my god!"
"Look!"
The winter wind continued to blow, and she saw the black coat. 
Silje finally realized what had happened. In front of the entire school, Silje had jumped off a building and landed on top of Kail Jorgen Bruntland.
The one who was called the God of Death.
With his unusual athleticism, Kail apparently caught a falling Asian girl by reflex and now he was looking down at her with disgust and annoyance.
Silje fell from the third floor of a building and was caught by Kail, the cruel king of the school. She didn't feel relieved to find herself alive. Instead, she knew this was the beginning of her tragedy.
Kail continued to glare at her icily as if to prove her suspicion.

I don't really remember how I got into med school. It just felt natural since my parents were into somewhat medical-related profession. I genuinely enjoyed science subjects as well, so... 

I was ahead in primary school a little bit so I always ended up being the youngest in my year level. However, I don't think I look the youngest. Even at Year 8, I was already at 5"11, one of the tallest in the year level and I just grew even taller than that now that I'm in uni.

Whoever said med school is only for nerds is some dumbass. A few of my mates and I easily got in because we do know how to deal with ATAR exams properly and keeping ourselves busy with party, booze and women at the same time. All that teenage shit.

One time, during a typical girl hunt the lads and I do where we browse through random girls we know around the area on Instagram, a particular photo really caught our attention.

It was a photo of a blonde girl with an Asian girl. The blonde one was wearing a skimpy dress while the Asian one equally wore something revealing - a fitted crop top with a mini skirt. 

"Finally got some hotties here." one of my mates shamelessly said and even had the audacity to whistle playfully.

"Well, the blonde one, I think she made out with Matty one time. She's good, apparently." one them said.

"What about the Asian one?" I couldn't help but ask.

The Asian girl had pale skin that equalled the blonde girl's skin. Although she had almond eyes, pretty nose and a bit of full lips, when you look at her overall, you would know she's Asian. There's something different about her though. She's like, a really hot Asian. I find her hotter than the blonde one, actually.

Besides, being raised in a multicultural country, I have no preference when it comes to girls. I do not think there should be a preference anyway. It doesn't matter what background or race the girl has. If you like her, then you like her. You don't fucking give a damn at wherever she came from. 

I don't want to generalise but compared to most Asian girls I know, she's got a great body. Her legs look smooth and fine. She's got a great  bust and hips as well. Hmm...

"Not sure. But she's pretty for an Asian isn't she? I'd make out with her! Her boobs are so big." he answered maniacally.

We were talking a bit more about those two girls until one of our mates suddenly bursted out laughing. The rest of us were confused at his sudden outburst and questioned him.

"Fuck you all, fuckers! These girls are like 14 or 15!" he announced.

As expected, the rest of us groaned and cursed at him. So that's why this fucker have been awfully silent while we all fucking talk. Damn it! Girls these days, I couldn't believe it. With the heavy make-up and clothes they're wearing, they could actually pass off as our age. Heck, those two look prettier than other girls our age.

I am at disbelief, actually. I have always liked girls my age and older girls so I couldn't believe I wanted myself to make out with that Asian girl or even dream about... hmm. Fuck! She's like my little brother's age.

I shrugged that off and continued like it's nothing. There's still heaps of girls here in Melbourne.

When my grandmother died, my mum was absolutely devastated. Apparently, my grandmother's last wish was for my mum to finally meet her Filipino father who left them when she was young and build a clinic that would help Filipinos to migrate in Australia. Well, my mother did exactly that. 

When I started med school, she started organising it already and in just a few months, it was already done. It was already a given tradition as well to import Filipino doctors and nurses to work for the clinic. Since they're from the Philippines though, most of them have to still study masters' while working. Although, they said they didn't really feel the trouble since the clinic does pay high.

My grandmother kind of owns a lot of farms here in Australia and have several businesses in the city as well. Since my mother was her only child, she passed all that to her. Right now, my mother focuses mainly on the clinic, trying to reconnect with her Filipino roots for her mum. I'm not exactly sure how she's going with finding her father, though.

"There's gonna be a new receptionist. She's still a nursing student though and just finished high school in the Philippines." my mum said randomly during one of rare dinner together as family. 

I kind of dismissed it, thinking it was normal. I graduated from med school quite early for some because there's this underdegree program you could take right after high school for 6 years. I did my internship and residency quite quick too, with prestigious hospitals even recognising me.

After finishing residency, I started training for my specialisation at the city while helping out a bit at the clinic as well. With that, I only get to go once or twice a week in the clinic. I'm sure I'll see the new face. So far, I am only close to one of the staff there, which is Velle. She's only 2 or 3 years older than me and she teaches me Tagalog as well.

"I'll get going now, Dr. Pittari. Nice meeting you." the new receptionist said.

I stared at her mindlessly before saying my goodbye greetings. She looks awfully familiar... although it was already so long ago, I am pretty sure she's the same Asian girl I have had the hots for before. How could I fucking forget that anyway? Tsss. Damo Pittari almost nutting for a girl way younger than him. Disgusting shit.

Compared to the picture I saw before, she looks more captivating in person. She has flawless and poreless skin that even if you're far away, you could tell that it is probably as smooth as a baby's. Her body remained voluptuous and I think it got even better, just seeing curves defined in the outfit she's wearing... especially with her fitted business skirt.

I can't believe I found myself hanging around mum's little clinic a little bit more often just to be able to talk to her. Usually, I'd just spend my not-so-hectic days in the city with a few mates or so. But damn it, she really is an intriguing girl. The way she carries herself and her perspectives makes her so much more mature than her actual age.

"Haha! Mila, you fucking bitch!" Andre murmured randomly while he was attentive to his phone.

Did I hear that right? Mila? The receptionist? 

I have my own penthouse in the city while my brother has his own apartment. He often likes going to mine for some reason though. Well, there is housekeeping service in mine and he doesn't pay shit for meals whenever he comes over. 

"Who's that? Mila?" I asked curiously.

"Hmm. Yeah. That new one at the clinic. We're texting and she's actually crazy! Haha! She's hilarious, bro." Andre quipped, still attentive on his phone.

I do not understand why there is this deep irritation arising within me. I am annoyed for some reason. How can she give her number so easily to my brother who's just full of shit?

I sipped on my favourite liquor a bit as I walked towards him and looked over his phone. 

Damn it! They are texting each other. She is quite the texter too, sending messages with those ridiculous emojis. 

Camila Cruz:
Oiii. I might have to go to this small meeting tomorrow at our university so maybe we can just meet a little bit later? 12:30? :) 

Andre Pittari:
K, m8.

What the fuck? Andre knows her uni sched as well? I asked Camila for that but I remember her refusing profusely. It's like she's creating this barrier within us but with Andre, she's giving too much information so easily.

"You hitting on her?" I said in an aggressive tone.

My brother looked at me, confused and shook his head profusely.

"You serious there, bro? You know I still couldn't get over Emily. You've seen how much booze I drank and she's still all I think about." he said seriously, as if he's almost offended by what I said.

I didn't say anything else and continued to watch how Camila texts him while sipping on my booze.

"But, hey, why would it be a deal anyway? Do you like her, mate?" Andre said cockily with the usual annoying smile on his face.

I don't know how to answer. Do I like her? Does Damo Pittari actually like someone years fucking younger than him!? Fuck! My forehead creased as ai drank the rest of my booze and stood up to get some more.

"No fucking way! You've always dated women your age and older. Who would've thought... no fucking way, bro! Haha!" Andre shouted shamelessly while giggling like some stupid bastard.

When I had one of those early out times at the hospital, which is specifically to have time to work at the clinic, Andre texted me to wait for him so we can go to the clinic together. He's got his own car so I really do not understand why this monkey has to go with me. Tsss.

I read reports as I waited inside my car to ease off the irritation I felt for my ass brother but when I saw him walking towards it with a familiar figure, I closed the damn report because I was just too pissed off to focus.

My sly brother had a cocky smirk on his face as he sat by himself in the backseat. I glared at him in the mirror but the bastard just winked at me.

"Where you wanna eat tomorrow, Mila?" my annoying brother asked.

"Hmm. I don't really care where." the woman beside me answered softly.

My jaw clenched as I gritted my teeth. How can they have this conversation, ignoring that I'm also in the car? What the fuck am I, their fucking driver? Tsss.

"Well, I know this shop that opened recently. Maybe you wanna come with us, bro?" Andre asked me with a big grin.

I kept my eyes busy on the road but when I saw Camila look over me and waiting for my answer as well, I glanced at her back, only to find her a bit intimidated. I guess I can't really hide the irritation I feel. How can she give others the chance to get to know her more when she rejects my offers so easily...

"Dunno." I answered simply when I realised I was staring at her longer than I should.

When we finally reached the clinic, it was like haven to me. I can isolate myself and keep myself busy with reports and patients. I won't have to think about her and just be pissed off.

I scoffed when Andre opened the passenger's door for her. I walked hurriedly inside before I could punch my brother.

But then, a soft touch at my elbow immediately calmed my insides. I looked at a terrified Camila. I stared at her, looking like she's afraid to speak. I longingly gazed at her poreless face up close, her soft lips and eyes, hypnotising me.

"Um..." she started to say. I raised an eyebrow at her and tried to calm down my probably angry face, waiting for what she has to say.

"Uh.. nevermind, Dr. Pittari." she suddenly said. She frowned as she walked pass me.

How can she do that, just leave me here hanging after she's hypnotised me. I deeply sighed and just went over to my office. As expected, there was hectic pile-up of work. I had a lot of things to arrange and check but it was fine because I was able to distract myself a bit. 

When I walked towards the back part of the clinic where my car is parked, I saw someone sitting on one of the benches in the small garden we have there. 

Just with her skirt, top and coat... I could tell it's her. She's diligently reading some paper hand-outs, which I assume for her uni. I couldn't help but smile at the sight of her. Even though I am still quite irritated at her and myself for all these confusing feelings, just one gaze at her and all the tiredness I've felt today just goes away.

"Camila." I greeted as I walked towards her.

She was obviously astonished at my presence that she almost threw her handouts down. She quickly put them on her bag as I sat next to her.

"Why are you still here? Does your work hours include up to this late, hmm?" I asked gently.

She looked at me and I immediately stared directly into her eyes. However, she put her hands together, fiddling with them and looked down.

"Sometimes. But not today. I was waiting for you, Dr. Pittari." she said shyly. I don't know if it's because of the cold weather but her cheeks flustered even more, embarassed.

I can't help but stare more at her that I am lost for words.

"You glared at me earlier and you seemed kind of angry while we were at your car so I thought... maybe you didn't want me riding in it with you and Andre... I am just an employee after all and I've crossed boundaries. So, uhm, I'd like to apologize, Dr. Pittari..." she said in a soft voice.

My jaw literally dropped, amazed at what she said. How the fuck can she think like that? I felt my jaw clench even more as I heard her say those words.

She was still fiddling with her hands, looking at them an unable to look at me.

"Damn it! That would never be an issue, Camila! But yeah, I am a little bit irritated at you." I said honestly.

She looked like a scared kitten as she gazed at me curiously, pouting and probably wondering why.

"You give your uni sched to my brother so easily but then refuse me, huh. Just to think you agreed to let me make up to you." I said in a disappointed tone, just to trigger her.

I want to stop my smile from arising but I just couldn't. She looks even more scared as she looked guiltily at me. 

"Sorry. It was just kinda sudden. I only gave it to him because he wants updates about my best friend and he kind of treats me lunch. I don't eat lunch out that much, so... I thought it was a good deal. He's a good lad too." she said simply.

Ah! Now I get it. My bastard brother made it look like they just hang out naturally because Mila gave her personal info willingly. Remembering the photo ages ago, I'm pretty sure the blonde girl next to Camila was my brother's ex-girlfriend. I can't believe I didn't realise it sooner when I've already seen his girl so many times already! Well, I was only attentive to Camila on that picture so it's pretty fucking understandable.

How ironic is that. Funny how the world fucking works, huh.

"If you're truly sorry, give me your uni sched and your number, then."

"20.71 seconds. Yue Zhao has made a lot of progress again; he has exceeded my expectations. Good job, Dai Li!" Li Xue was satisfied with Yue Zhao's performance.
"Next, Yue Zhao's training plan needs to be adjusted," said Li Xue. "Add some relay race training."
Dai Li nodded. To sprinters in the Asian Games, the 4x100m relay race was one of their tasks. Therefore, before the game started, the national team assembled sprinters to make relay race special training.
To win in a relay race, speed was not the key factor. Sending the four quickest sprinters could not guarantee a medal.
One lap on a standard track was 400 meters long, 160 meters of which were straight, while the other 240 meters were curved. Among the four runners in a 4x100m relay race, the first and third legs (runners) were required to run the bend every time. Both of those athletes had to have outstanding curve techniques.
Here, 200m sprinters had the advantage. They had curve techniques, outstanding speed, and explosive force, which made them capable of being any of the four legs.
In contrast, those without curve techniques were only capable of running the second or fourth leg.
Li Xue continued, "The 4x100m relay race usually only exists in big events, hence why we don't have much of an opportunity to practice. You haven't experienced a high-level relay race, have you?"
Dai Li shook his head. "No. But I learned about it when I was in college. We mainly focused on the baton exchange."
"Tell me what you learned."
Dai Li thought to himself for a few seconds, then answered, "I mainly learned the top-pick and press-down baton-exchange methods. The top-pick requires the receiver to stretch their arm backwards naturally, and form an angle from 40 to 50 degrees with their body. The receiver's palm faces backwards, fingers naturally open, with the part between the thumb and the index finger faces down. The incoming runner's hand should be over the baton and above the receiver's. The advantage of this method is that both receiving and giving are easy to control, and the actions are natural. The disadvantage is that after receiving the baton, the receiver's hand is holding the midpoint of baton. If the athlete doesn't shift the baton to the other hand, when they perform the handover to the next person, that person can only hold the top part of baton, which can cause them to drop the baton and influence the outcome.
The press-down baton exchange requires the receiver to stretch their arm backwards, forming an angle from 50 to 60 degrees with their body. The wrist twists inward and the palm faces up, fingers open. The space between the thumb and index finger faces backwards; the incoming runner then puts the top of the baton into receiver's hand. The advantage of this method is that it's easy for the receiver to run fast with the baton, and handover process is more accurate; but the disadvantage is that mistakes are easily made by tense muscle movement of the receiver's arm.
"When performing the handover, the first and third legs run along the inside of the track, and use their right hand to pass the baton to the second and fourth legs' left hand. The second leg runs along the outside the track, and uses their left hand to pass the baton to the receiver's right hand."
Li Xue nodded. "Um, good. It seems like you paid attention in school. In formal games we mainly use a hybrid of those techniques, depending on each leg's features. For example, the first leg doesn't need to think about receiving the baton; his job is to handover the baton safely to the second leg. The fourth leg only thinks about how to take the baton, since he has no one he needs to pass it to. As for the second and third legs, they receive and give the baton. In order to fit different needs, save time, and reduce mistakes, the second and third legs use different handover methods."
Pausing here, Li Xue changed to a serious look. "No matter which method is chosen, cooperation between athletes is the crucial factor. Any mistake will make the whole team fail.
"Let me give you an example. Before Team Jamaica rose to dominance, the American team had been the strongest in the relay race. Over a long period of time, Americans had a majority of the gold medals in the event. The only way the American team could have lost was if they had lost the baton during the race.
"In world-top competitions, a nice baton exchange can save 0.1 second. Asian athletes are not as competitive as people from the other parts of the world, so a successful handover can save more than 0.1 or 0.2 seconds."
Li Xue paused, seemingly going through his catalogue of memories. Later, he asked, "Do you know of the Asian Games that took place eight years ago? And which team won the gold in the 4x100m relay race?"
Eight years ago, Dai Li had still been a poor high school student living in hell. Everyday he would wake up with the sunrise, and go to bed at midnight. Almost every minute was used to study. How could he have had spare time to watch the Asian Games? Dai Li could only guess. "Maybe the Japanese? Before the Western Asians took their place, the Japanese had been the kings of Asian sprinting for about thirty years."
"The Japanese did rule the Asian sprinting world for thirty years. And, eight years ago, it was the Japanese's late golden period. But no, they were not the champion," answered Li Xue.
"The Saudi, then? Saudi Arabia was strong in athletics," Dai Li guessed again.
Li Xue shook head again.
"The Iranians? Qataris? Wait, at that time the Naturalization Legion hadn't developed yet. How about someone from the Middle East? Or the Koreans? It can't be North Korea, can it?" Dai Li guessed again and again. The countries he mentioned all had big sports names in Asia. However, Li Xue shook his head over and over again.
"You have no idea. It was Thailand," Li Xue answered.
"Thailand? I would believe it if they had won in Thai Boxing, but the 4x100m relay race? How could that be possible?" Dai Li was astonished.
In Asia, South Asian countries were the weakest in sports. The popular activities were cricket and other local games. Southeastern Asians didn't have high sports abilities, either. However, each Southeastern Asian country had at least one or two activities they were good at; for instance, Malaysia and Indonesia were famous for badminton, the Philippines and Thailand specialized in boxing, etc. But in track and field, Southeastern Asian countries had to stand aside.
Therefore, upon hearing that Thailand had won the championship in the Asian Games, Dai Li was dumbfounded. 
"Coach Xue, it was the Asian Games—how could Thailand have possibly won the championship? Was it because the strong teams were all absent, or had they all made mistakes, meaning Thailand faced worse opponents?"asked Dai Li.
"Japan, Saudi Arabia, and our team all participated and finished the entire race." Looking as if he had remembered, Li Xue said, "I led the team myself to the race, and I was there to witness the process."
"Four Japanese athletes had all reached the Olympics A-level standard; three of them participated in the Olympics. But Thailand only had one Olympic B-level standard athlete. The other three weren't even B-level athletes. Yet Thailand won, through sound cooperation. The Thais cooperated smoothly. Whenever the athletes were running, the Japanese would always shorten the distance between them and Thailand, but after each baton exchange, Thailand always would widen the gap.
"I can still remember Japanese trump card Sasaki Akita's painful look when he crossed the finish line. He was capable of being in the semi-finals in the Olympics, and was regarded as the best Asian sprinter, yet he finished in second place in the relay race in those Asian Games."
Hearing the story, Dai Li couldn't believe it.
The Olympics 100m sprint A-level standard was 10.21 seconds, while B-level was 10.28 seconds. This meant that there was a 0.7-second gap between A-level and B-level sprinters. Sasaki Akita was regarded as the first "Asian Flying Man," as his score was close to ten seconds. The other Japanese athletes' best scores were around 10.10 seconds.
But Thailand only had one B-level athlete, which indicated that, each Thai runner had a 0.2-second gap between them and the Japanese. The fact that Thailand had won the gold proved that the Thais had been at least 0.2 seconds quicker than the Japanese during the baton exchange.
Standing next to Dai Li, Li Xue concluded, "I use this example to tell you the importance of cooperation in the relay race. Therefore, the essence of relay race training is to develop and enhance cooperation within the team! This is our purpose!"

While I was thinking about which zombie I would let eat me, I heard  a sound that was unmistakably the sound of a motorcycle

I looked at the direction of the motorcycle and saw a handsome guy with blonde hair ride the motorcycle into the swam of zombie

Breaking their bones and creating a passage to me, he parked beside me and pulled out dual guns, he shot at the zombies, skillfully aiming for their heads

"Climb now, drop the cat " he yelled without looking at me

"am not going anywhere without my cat" i quipped at him

"Just climb" he replied with exhaustion, still not looking at me

Without hesitation I climbed the motorcycle, I would rather follow a handsome stranger than stay with foul breath zombies.

He threw a grenade at them, it exploded with a bang, I could see zombies arms and legs in the air, he rode into the smoke
I held on to him tight, I could feel strong abs under the tight gray T-shirt he wore

He took a turn down the road and we were faced with a larger swam of zombies
There was no way he would be able to drive past them but he didn't flinch at all, he just pushed his braked and stopped the motorcycle

"What do we do?" I asked with pleading eyes

"Wait for it" he calmly replied

Before I could ask he what he meant, an armored truck wheeled into the street and blasted the zombies with amazing firepower
An African American man at around 30 was driving the truck he laughed excitedly like he was having fun.

The door of the truck flung open and an Asian girl at about 17 came down from the truck wilding a sword, she wore a Chinese school uniform

She ran after the zombies that were coming behind us
I thought she was crazy for running after something we were running from
Before I could protest, I noticed a fat man come out of the truck he was holding a hamburger in one one hand and a large metal bat with metal spikes on it in the other
He ate the last bit of the hamburger and ran towards the direction of the Asian school girl

I looked back and saw the Asian girl effortlessly slicing zombies brain open, she was so agile and nimble taking out ten zombies in a split second
The fat man joined in the action and blasted off zombies head with his metal spiky bat

"Your friends?" I uttered

"Yup" he turned on the motorcycle and drove past the truck

The truck driver stopped shooting and we rode through with ease

"Let's go guys, coast is clear" the truck driver hollered at the Asian girl and the fat man

"Am not a guy" the Asian girl retorted with a frown on her face

I couldn't see the driver's reaction because the hunk of a man in front of me made turned left, riding at an incredible speed
After nearly an hour of riding round the city he stopped the motorcycle at a cliff, the cliff was a bit distant from the city

"Get down" he said in a way that sounded more like an order than a request
I got down from the motorcycle a bit pissed at his authoritative personality but I was gonna let it pass, I would be inside a zombie's belly if not for him, he parked the motorcycle and came down too

"Thank you for saving me" I said, finally taking a good look at him, he was taller than I thought and I could see blue eyes under his short eye lashes
He wore a  grey t-shirt under his brown jacket and faded blue jeans that fitted him perfectly

When I noticed him staring at me, I suddenly became uncomfortable in the hospital gown I was wearing

"What were you still doing in the city, evacuation had taken place months ago" he asked, looking me straight in the eyes

"Evacuation?" I was a little lost, is it possible that I had been asleep for months, I thought to myself "what is today's date?"

"22 December 2019" he answered

"Holy shit" I had been asleep for a whole year, how was that even possible

"How is it possible that you are not aware of the evacuation?" He asked with questioning eyes

"Maybe because have been asleep for a whole year" I replied
He didn't really seem to believe

"Look I woke up today in an empty hospital, I have no idea what is going on here" 
He looked me down from head to toe and this time seemed to believe me because even without a mirror I knew I looked like an old hag

"When the others get here we will take you to base" his face seemed to soften a little

"What happened to this city?" I asked with a shaken voice, knowing full well the answer I would receive

"A certain Dr Jane Dumont invented a formula meant to cure HIV and without testing it on animals first, went against the orders of her company and tested it on a human being, the procedure went wrong and now we have walking zombies" he said it with hatred in his eyes

My eyes were wide with horror, my tongue stuck to my mouth unable to move, that is not the answer I expected, what scared me most was the fury in his eyes when he said my name

"Are you okay?" He asked me noticing my state of shock but before I could bring myself to say something, the armored truck drove into the area, after parking the truck, the driver and the others came down

"is she bitten?" The driver asked him

"No" he replied

"Trey, the next time Andre calls me a guy am gonna cut off his tongue" the Asian girl said to the motorcyclist

Andre laughed and replied "you are still hung on that, come on chill?"

"I'll chill after your tongue is on the ground" she retorted, a bit too tough for a seventeen year old

Trey laughed a bit and turned his attention to me, when he laughed he looked like a cute high school boy 
"Since you going to be hanging with us until we get to the base it will be best if you knew our names, that's Andre Raymond"
He pointed at the African American man, who smiled nicely at me, Trey then pointed at the Asian girl

"That's Jing Jing" 

"Don't touch my sword and we'll be fine" she said swiftly

Why the hell would I want to touch her sword 
He then pointed at the fat guy who was busy munching snacks
"And fatso over there is Slim Eddie"

That seemed to me like an odd name for a guy who weighed up to 160 pounds
"Am Trey McCain" he said lastly

"Are you guys soldiers?" I asked

They all bust out laughing except for Trey

"Soldiers?" Jing jing asked before laughing again

Their laughter made me feel a bit stupid by my question

"Soldiers never leave the comfort and safety of the base, those cowards would pass out if they saw a zombie up close" Andre said it with contempt in his voice

"Then what are you guys?" I asked, hoping not to get laughed at again

"We are scavengers" Trey replied "in the base there are few hundred people who sign up to leave the base and bring in supplies from the outside world and sometimes capture zombies if the scientists need them for experiments"

"To cut the long story short, we are the guys who do the dirty jobs" Andre added

"Am not a guy" Jing Jing glared at Andre

" fine, we are the girls who do the dirty jobs " Andre replied

"Much better" Jing Jing looked pleased

They all laughed again
"Do you get paid?" I asked

"Money has no value at the base, we get 10 percent of all the food supplies we bring in and that's a lot compared to the measly meals the citizens get" Jing Jing replied

" you actually risk being eaten by zombies for food?" I asked, shocked at what the world had become

"When you have a family who need to feed, you have no choice but to sign up, plus every citizen in the base depend on the scavengers to survive" Andre replied sadly

"we have to get going we can't be in the city when its dark" Trey ordered, suddenly back to his authoritative attitude
He climbed his motorcycle and they others head into the truck

"What happens when its dark" I asked Andre

"Trust me, you don't want to know" he entered into the truck and I joined him inside, definitely not wanting another ride from bossy Trey

Jane Dumont and her medical team try to invent a formula to cure HIV but things go wrong and the formula becomes a virus turning half of the world population into Zombies

Seeing that Tian Zhenzhe didn't answer, Tang Yan followed up and said: "If I'm not able to win gold, then I'll promise to only focus on archery in the future and won't involve myself in any other sport."

Qin Hailong also recovered from his shock at this time. When he heard the domineering side of Tang Yan, he felt young seeing Tang Yan full of enthusiasm.

He said: "Old Tian, this is a good bet, you pay a small amount of chips, but the rewards you could potentially get are worth it."

This time the Asian Games would be held in China, Guangzhou.

So the location of the trials was in the Guangdong Province near Guangzhou.

Guangdong was a major province for martial arts, and the city Foshan was the hometown of the martial arts craze. The amount of boxing matches and mma fights held here was quite high.

Although it was only a trial, but because boxers came from all over Asia, the crowds around the boxing hall were bustling.

In this round of competition, a total of 35 countries from Asia were participating. In addition to several small countries such as East Timor, there were many more big name contestants and countries.

Qin Hailong said looking at Lu Yun.

At this moment, the doors of the train were just shutting when there was a loud noise from the door. They looked up and saw two men talking loudly, barely squeeze their way onto the subway.  

Tang Yan saw that one of them looked familiar, but he couldn't quite remember where he had seen him before. He didn't think much of it.

The two spoke loudly, disregarding the other passengers who were resting.

The subway went along it route and some people came on and got off but generally the train was filling up and becoming crowded.

At this moment, the two men made eye contact and slyly looked towards the school girls.

Tang Yan dies pathetically after falling off a cliff.

A soft light weaves through the leaves and hits Kano's eyes. His silver eyes slowly open and adjust to the surrounding. They send the scenery to his brain, which triggers a thought.
"Ah, it is the new school."
It has been two weeks since he transferred to the new school. He does not have any friends. Most of his memory revolves around moving to different countries, learning different languages, and talking about business. Against his grandparent's wishes, his parents want to build their own lives, instead of taking over the empire. His parents love him, but they are often swarmed with work. Thus, he spends most of his time with his babysitter, Esmeralda, and his siblings. At the beginning of the year, as he turns sixteen, his grandparents finally cannot endure it  any longer and demand his parents to settle down after a decade of traveling to more than half of the world. They must return home, which is more like a castle than a house, and Kano is enrolled into this school.
Aster Academy is a prestigious school. It was built and named based on the long - accredited space program that the school is known for. Or, it may be because of the same name flower that covers the entire school. It reminds Kano of the taro shave ice that Esmeralda always makes, which causes an urge for sweets every time he arrives at school.
The school is lax on general regulation but is extremely strict on academic achievement. Their admission score is high enough to make people run for the hill, but still cannot keep people from applying for the school. The reason is because of their focus on individual talents and tuition sponsorship. Thus, many talented students choose the school as their priority.
Kano's score is not bad. If anything, he is slightly above average. However, speaking multiple languages and excelling in sport is a guaranteed admission. He also heard stories about students, who got accepted for excelling in arts and life skills even though their score may not pass the requirement. Thus, there is a unique collection of students in the school. Even the dean, Mr. Wonder, is an eccentric man himself. Nobody ever knows the real story about his name, and he changes the story every time someone asks.
"I wondered about a lot of things when I was young so my parents changed my name."
"I was born with a question birthmark in a discreet place."
"My parents listened too much of Stevie Wonder."
And every time is accompanied with a mysterious smile.
"Hey, Kano. You are daydreaming again?"
A voice cuts through Kano's train of thought. As he snaps back to reality, a pair of blue eyes appear too close to his face. Irwin Klunes, or Irwin Clueless as people nickname him, is the first friend Kano made since arriving here. A weird combination between Islander and Asian makes him stand out. The sharp feature and handsome face, distinctive to Asian, is a contrast with his sky - blue big eyes and abnormal height. Standing approximated six feet five, which is two inches taller than Kano, allows people to easily spot him in the crowd. Combining with his muscular lean body and the killer double dimples, Irwin is a deadly cage for many people's hearts. However, the guy, who has zero boundaries and a candid mouth, is pretty much a simpleton toward love. Hence, the nickname is born after several confessions.
"Can you take your face away from me?"
"Sorry, my bad. I forget." Irwin quickly pulls back to his chair. "What are you thinking about?"
"Nothing, just stuff."
"What stuff? You look dazed to me. Are you fancying about someone?"
"Yes, my lunch. How ironic when you are the one to ask that, Mr. Clueless. How is practice?"
"Not bad. Hey, you know I hate that nickname. It …"
"I cannot believe you got accepted for being a singer."
Kano cuts him off before the rant starts.
"Why not? I can sing pretty well."
Kano admits Irwin is. That is the reason that there are literally love confessions every single day.
"I know. Just your frame can tell a different story."
Irwin laughs lightly. They have the same conversation all the time.
"Anyway, you want to do anything after school?"
"Not much but don't you have some activities later?"
"Oh yeah, I completely forget about it. Never mind then."
Kano just shakes his head. Irwin's low attention span can be either a blessing or a curse depending how people look at it. The only that he ever focuses on is music and food, which he never says no to and causes a lot of misunderstanding.
"So, did you finish the assignment?"
"I did." Kano digs into his pack back and pulls out a small stack of paper. " A three page report with all materials ready for oral presentation."
"I still cannot believe that you got such a good topic for your assignment. I have to do research on the psychotherapy effects of music, which is really hard. I have to test and survey for a while."
Since the school is unique, its assignment is pretty much unique itself. Most assignments are focusing research and research techniques unless it is dry cut like math. The scores are based on finding, method, and conclusion. "Learning from the past" is pretty much one of the mottos in the school. It is the reason the school leads the nation in innovative processes.
Kano likes the way the school runs. It is unique but allows you to learn through different processes than normal school.
"Yeah, it is pretty cool that I got a topic that is really interesting."
"Really?"
"Yup."
Kano really likes his topic, the efficiency of movements and energy. It is correlated to his personal interest, martial art. His parents found out about his interest when visiting a local school in one of South East Asia countries. They encouraged him, and it took off from there. As they move from country to country, he learns different styles and practical combat techniques. Thus, he has a foundation for the assignment.
"I wonder what his assignment is."
Kano follows Irwin's finger to gaze at the figure in front of the class. As if there is a sixth sense, the owner of the back turns around and greets his gaze with his own reflection in the thick glasses.

"Fate. A cruel trickster. An ironic chronicle. An inevitable existence. Even the almighty God cannot avoid.” Kano has recently returned to his home, still figuring out his future. He is drawn to the eyes, that are miniature Earth themselves. One night, his life changes because of those same eyes. Neo’s life has been predetermined since his birth but he has no qualms about it. Everything turns upside down when the guy with the husky velvet voice appears. Will they be able to tell their own stories or are they already written?
