/ Eastern / Daily life of a cultivation judge

Synopsis
Yang Qing sighed as he gazed upon the black building that stood tall piercing the skies above with an inviolable aura around it.
"The Order sure is black-hearted," he angrily thought as he made his way into the building begrudgingly.
The building could be considered his home away from home and a source of endless grief for him due to its unforgiving working hours.
The building housed the courtrooms of the Cultivation Order Society, an organization founded to maintain a semblance of order in the ruthless cultivation world of the southern continent who if left to their own devices would sink the whole continent to the ground.
Due to how impetuous cultivators were, the cases never stopped.
"Yi Jie, what do we have today?"
"Two cultivators at the palace realm fought over a treasure and destroyed half of the territory of the blue deer kingdom in their fight,
A rogue cultivator is suing the owner of the falling meteor blacksmith shop for selling him a faulty saber that keeps attracting lightning tribulations.
A cultivator suffering from pill poisoning is blaming it on the white hilltop restaurant as he suspects they are feeding their spirit beasts pills to make them bigger and fatter.
And the last case is 500 families are suing a cultivator by the name of Ren Fu for being negligent as a husband and a father whilst also pilfering their resources dry as he moves from place to place.,"
Awkward silence ensues...........
Join me as we follow Yang Qing in his role as a judge in the Cultivation Order Society with cases and troubles that never seem to end.
Fair warning the story has multiple POVs.
I will also be re-editing the first 50 chapters, since they were missing a few things, one of them being commas and had a tad bit info dumps that I'll also be editing out. Thanks to the readers who pointed it out. I don't know how I missed it. For new readers, please don't shy away from reading, as lovers of wuxia we have all sampled MTL Dao at some point. If you can survive that, this won't be hard at all.
Re-edited chapter (15/50)

Write a reviewNot gonna lie I was intrigued by the first chapter. I love details when I'm reading a novel and so far the chapters that I have read deliver. Secondly, the build up promises for an awesome politics + cultivation adventure and I'm down for it. Five star review for the moment. Gonna review again after reading more chapters
Attention to detail I like but there is a reason Main characters need to have an ambition that the reader would like to see. People to like to have an overarching idea of where the story is going when reading and the MC for this story has zero ambition which means the reader has no idea what the main goal of this whole story is. Im around chapter 60 now and the Main character just wants to laze around and do nothing but is at the same time super serious about his work as a Judge which would make a cool side character but as a main character the story feels cheapened cuz of lack of ambition leaving the reader confused on the point of this story. i.e. Naruto has the ambition of being the hokage, luffy the ambition of being the pirate king now imagine naruto doesn't have that goal the story is just super lackluster. This can be mitigated like in bleach with certain enemies being the focal point to defeat so life can go back as normal but there is a reason bleach is always considered worse than naruto and one piece for a reason it is cuz ichigo does not have any sort of ambition and that is important for the reader to be invested in. If the main character wanted to become the greatest judge which was a title given in the universe that would mean I have something to look forward to and learn more about the universe thru world building which is well done in this novel. If the main character realized an ambition this novel would have been a much better read but going thru case by case feels like chore to me with no overarching goal in mind rather than something I enjoyed.
Reveal SpoilerThe storywriting is okay but the author seems to add way too much details. Like, around half of a chapter is mostly just them describing things.
Very good, Nice characters, Almost no cliches, engaging worldbuilding 👌👍 Its a little bit slowpaced but that Isnt Mich of a problem.
story has rich world building, the characters are pretty well defined, mc has sense of humor , his actions are logical.
it's really not bad, it's an interesting take on cultivation stories and the characters are loveable. If it weren't for the mood killing infodumps at the worst possible time and the lack of commas, I'd rate it 5 stars.
i will not give a detailed review , i will only tell what i like the most about this novel i like the most about the novel is he does not have a solitude persona and have friends like literally friends with equal standing cause in most eastern novel mc has friends but they seem like little subordinate to mc
Too much details, it's too irritating to read, please author, reduce the details by removing the unecessary ones and only focus on the plot, chapter 27 in but the plot doesn't forward at all, over 10 chapters of useless and unecessary details that even if you skip it, you can still know the plot overall. DON'T PAD THE WORD COUNT BY UNECESSARY DETAILS...
So far my take is this is a slice of life cultivation novel. Really enjoyed it and would advise you to give it a go and vote accordingly. You can trust me, I'm a stranger on an app. 👍😅😂
if i were to pick one word to describe this book, it'd be - different. maybe there is a plot but so far, i can see none of em (tbh i only read until ch 70 so far, so take this with a pinch of salt) . take this as a chinese version of one punch man or death parade or joker game. basically there is no set plot but there are episodes of different stories. it might get boring at some point but it is a kind of story that you can say "ok, i will stop here for now" after finishing an arc and continue reading it after months. but it doesn't mean that this story is without plot as i can see some of the foreshadowings. like enemies from different continents, and large organisations from their own continent. so far the story only revolve around mc's organisation so yeah, i do hold some expectation for future developments!
Reveal Spoilerhi there, kinda shameless for an author to review their own book(nervously laughs). Well, I shamelessly gave myself all stars on world background and character design. This is because while I struggle in a lot of areas in writing (fight scenes) pppsch who said that? I try to make my characters not only the MC but also the side characters seem as wholesome as possible, to have a personality that people can actually remember them even 50 chapters later and I hope I did that with this book. The cases featured in this novel some will be cultivation tropes and others will be a little unique. Also just as a heads-up the novel also features multiple POVs..It's hard to just sit in the courtroom when there's a whole world out there. Who knows what might be cooking? Anyhow, I hope you enjoy the novel as much as i enjoy writing it and potentially get Yang Qing in trouble.
LOVE the book, really... but like, why the info dumps? It's so great to read, but past chapter 400 and you feel exhausted with every chapter. Like, it has no real content and it feels like the world building never stopped because the author does TOO much world building. We get 10chapters for like every second case, then even the 'short' ones take over three chapters. We get foreshadowed for so many things and there are hints here and there, but it also lacks drastically in following these hints because the author doesn't know how to progress the story. It also feels like the author doesn't read his own novel, because several times it was mentioned he levelled up, then he didn't do that apparently, then he would level up soon, but when is soon? Like, from the beginning of the novel till around chapter 400 we have been in the world like 1 month. Seriously??? In a novel where years are thrown in the thousands, we spent ONE MONTH in 400 chapters? Another thing that really annoys me (besides the missing grammatical skills) is the fact that the author seems to forget plot points he wrote and then makes it so that the mc seemed to forget these points (like ignore the fact that heir memory is hyperspeed), also it's super weird how the info dumps come in the middle of the fights and the talks partially seem to be minutes long while the enemy waits and doesn't do anything. Please explain why a hyperspeed brain needs minutes for three-sentence-discussions?? Like you could be talking with your spiritual sense for hours in other novels, and only a second passed, while here, it seems that spiritual sense talking takes longer than normal talking.
At first when I started reading the novel, I liked it. But slowly as time passed, I started finding reading the novel a chore. There's too much information going on with every single side plot or history being explained with a chapter. A whole chapter is based on a few enemies escaping from the good guys. There's too much info that it's frying my brain. Every chapter, something or the other is described and half the chapter is wasted with little to no plot progress. There's multiple back to back chapters wasted on the MC just talking and having fun with his friends when the main plotline is going on in the background with the side characters. After this, another few chapters with what the side characters did. The first few chapter is called "last week as a judge" or something, but the first day of the week ends only after chapter 80 or something. Every case the MC takes on is explained with a few dozen chapters. Till now there is no idea what the MC is gonna do. There is nothing to suggest what the future holds. Just taking cases and lazing around. I couldn't read it after chapter 80 or something because it's too boring without a proper plot progress. The chapters are long, which I like, but there's little progress in each chapter with the rest being info dumps. So by now, I've read around 80-90 chapters and nothing has happened. And the MC just seems too bland for me. He's the absolutely shameless type with no trace of dignity or pride. This just beats the essence of a cultivation novel. The writing is good. The world background is well explained. Too detailed if you ask me, which just takes away the beauty of the novel. As always, the MC friends are all the weirdos, and the weirdo friend group always turns out to be the OP group, just like in black clover. Overused trope. And as I said, the story development is too slow. Snails pace with too much info dumping in each chapter. My opinion is that if you're a patient person, give it a read. It's a good novel with good writing, but not my cup of tea. Perhaps after chapter 100 or 150 it'll get better. It's obvious that the author has taken immense effort to write it, and props to him. It's visible to everyone. Good work on the novel author. I'm sorry but it's just not for me. I wish you success.
Reveal Spoilerinteresting novel for a change of peace but too much info the ch design is a full 5 star but the rest is on 3 stars with stabilty of up at 4 the story is too slow paced and there are info that are useless like when there is the story how is founded a sect or a pavilion merchant, i was like (why wold i care how this sect or pavilion is created? progress the story already) it is a very funny novel but the too much info and side chs are ruining this novel so 3.6 the novel is not averenge it is ok you can read this if you are bored of the alywas usual cultivation novel where mc talk like some chosen one it is not a master piece but an ok novel
Reveal SpoilerThis is my first ever review on webnovel . I am truly impressed by how good the story is . The characters and the world seems very real and very much alive . the writing style of the novel is also incredible. the main character is a person who likes to fool around but is still insightful enough as when he needs to be serious . the other side characters also are truly people instead of manifestation of one single trait . there is one character wen yingjie who appears for 7-8 chapters but he is like a classic webnovel main character . this story is really good but i have one complaint that cases are a bit too long the first case took around 50 chapters and case 4 also seems like a lengthy case . i just want the story to progress a little bit quickly
Its very rare to see cultivation novels that revolve around the law infact i know of none. .. this is a good story well written in a beautiful world, haven't reached far in reading it but so far so good. its worth looking into
Very good novel, very original and with a very interesting and charismatic main character. Highly recommended to read you will not regret it.
I like the idea and find it refreshing but the execution left much to be desired. Leaving aside grammar and such, there’s a huge problem of info-dumping/world padding of useless stuff that would put slide of life to shame and horrible pacing. At chapter 200, we are not even a week into the novel. And most of it doesn’t even bring anything substantial to the plot. Also, there’s a lot of inconsistency in the world building. Specially the timeline of various stuff. The MC said he’s 23 but a couple of chapters later, his senior of 2 years has been inquisitor for 15 years. Other time his team member saved treasures for multiples years to afford something. That’s just pure math but it goes deeper with the timeline established related to cultivation. With the life expectancy described, they shouldn’t be able to be at the palace stage at their age. Also, the Order only existed for about 500 years but they have a buttload of soul realm expert from who knows where when 50000 years old clan had 3 in their total history. Finally, the cultivation system and art related to it is very shallow right now and not explored very much or in a meaningful way despite a lot of mention about art but its always about grade and not detailed. Same thing about the Dao, always mentioned on a surface level without any dept. A lot of potential, but wasted as it is now.

This novel takes quite an interesting take on the cultivation world, with there being and organisation to manage cultivators and the complicated relationship between the organisation and the sects/families. The cases that were presented atleast in the free chapters were quite different from each othere represting the range this novel may offer. The plot of the cases seem interesting and the analysis and evaluation at the end of the first case was just awesome. And not all cases seem to be deep and schematic, some were just simple misunderstanding and a little funny, which provided a bit of comic relief. The main character and the supporting characters are defined well enough that it wouldn't be hard to enjoy them apart from each other. MC is quite an oddball though, more in a funny way and surprisingly enough very stern when needed whithout it being an out of character thing for him. I really would suggest reading till the end of the first case, and his evaluations. After that you can decide whether to continue. I don't usually write reviews but it seemed like a good novel and lacked reviews, so here I am. And yeah, the writing was quite detailed and grammar... everything written by a human seems heavenly to me after geeting deep into mtl and raws so idk about that. That's all. Have a nice day.
